The water is crystal clear but shelves quickly so take care with children or non swimmers, however there are life guards. Worth staying later to catch the sunset after most of the crowds have gone home.

Awesome beach. I liked this the most as the water has awesome colors and it’s super clear, the sand doesn’t stick to you like glue and the entrance in the water is more abrupt and you don’t need to walk 1km to swim properly.

Set in the hills near to the Île Rousse in the north of Corsica, this parkland is well worth a visit. The gardens are well maintained snd there are information panels too. As we visited in October there were not too many flowers to see, but the general planting and borders would look lovely in Spring and summer. If you have time, have lunch at the café - the food is all from local producers and very tasty. We had an amazing croque Monsieur and a mixed dishes of local Corsican meats and cheese - lovely! The cats are very friendly too!

Was an awesome trip showing us the best parts of the coast. The captain did a great job keeping everyone comfortable and even translated to English for me. Amazing experience, with a great captain! We had booked for another day, but were contacted in advance to change it, due to risk of bad weather (which turned out to be true). Instead of a morning tour, we went in the afternoon. During the 4hr trip we experienced Corsican music, all the different cliffs and grottos, as well as the beautiful village of Ghirolata. The highlight, however, was seeing dolphins in the sunset. An experience we will remember for a long time.

A nice boat tour were there were plenty of moment to make beautiful pictures. Sometimes the captain made a pirouette with the boat, so everyone could made pictures. BUT the explanation was only in French. The crew didn’t speak English at all.

Really great boat renting company. Everyone was super helpful and nice. Super captain and very nice boat. They have a very solid boat that can go out even with a mixed weather (with some wind), for 12 persons while you could fit at least 20 sited people. So you have a lot of space but the ship is small enough to go in all the different caves. You will be ensured to live a great experience, even with a "not too good" weather while most of the other companies will have their ships stuck in the harbour.

I highly recommend going for those mid size boats (12 people max) as it allows to go deeper among the rocks while benefiting from the captain comments (something you don’t get renting on your own - also, you would be highly time constrained while these fast boat can easily navigate from one point to another). Alpana was a good choice indeed.

Makes for a beautiful, and interesting drive. The roads are very narrow in places and many of the passing points get filled with other road users opportunistically using them as parking so they can get photos of the views, which means you need to be careful of people on the road as well. We ended up driving through in both directions at about 6pm. The roads weren't too busy and worth it for the views. We then parked at the tête de chien (small roadside parking on both sides of the road, space for 10-15 cars in total.) The walk from there is very pleasant and marked with yellow spray paint at key turning points. If you are confident and careful enough, there are some very impressive views to be had by taking a few steps off the track and pushing through the shrubs at certain places.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at La Villa Calvi. Our room was excellent; the views from the hotel in general were wonderful; the service was excellent, and the food was top-notch! Had dinner there were some problems with wasps the management very kindly supplied us with electric flyswatters which did the job!!!

He pushed for our wine order even though we hadn’t ordered / decided on our food ! He made no attempt to be helpful , he overfilled the glasses , he even wanted to poor a second different wine into the same glasses we were frankly appalled and he argued the point. The waitress apologised , but for a 5 star rating I would have expected the owner / manager / chef to come out and apologise- indeed the chef did come out and came over to us but then proceeded to talk to two people on the next table for 15 minutes with his back to us - a opportunity lost! - my wife and my daughter were at the beach but the hotel refused to come and collect them ( having done so 2 days earlier ) - the person was unhelpful , didn’t offer to organise a taxi or make any suggestions This hotel did not live up to its 5 star rating , please improve the consistency of your service level - attention to detail and training are core requirements.

We visited Calvi, some of us coming from Asia, some from Paris, and were looking forward to a dinner at La Villa. Not only was it very difficult to book a table, in spite of the restaurant being half empty when we eventually visited last May, but the experience was very disappointing. No welcome at the hotel entrance, very slow service -a nice lady seemed to be alone dealing with several tables- nothing of what’s expected from a 5 star hotel restaurant at this price. The sommelier was most unpleasant: arrogant, rude, not interested to explain local wines, only focused on filling and re-filling our glasses to the max -spilling wine on the table right from the beginning- even before any bread or other food had been brought to the table. I wonder if the experience can even get worse during high season when the hotel is busier. It’s a shame to offer such a poor experience at this price in a beautiful location.

This is a lovely peaceful hotel, with a magnificent view of Calvi. Very friendly and helpful staff with large well appointed rooms. The grounds and pool are well presented and it is in walking distance of the centre of Calvi, although it is uphill on the way back. Although they could lose the rubber ducks in the pool in front of the restaurant! (Some smart designers idea of being funny)

Nice hotel, room and view. However seriously let down by a few points: 1) food choice extremely limited 2) transfer from airport not organised properly; 3) air con in gym very weak; 4) shuttle car not at level expected; 5) staff -some lovely and some very unhelpful; 6) beach utterly dreadful. Overall much to like but could be so much better with attention to a few areas. Also not in the slightest kid friendly with very small pool and surrounding area.

Amazing and beautiful area to visit. Clear water for snorkling with a lot of fish and interesting structure under water. Great landscape with huge and different colored rocks. But please remember, its a nature reservate so no garbage! No fishing! No fast driving with boots!

I absolutely love the Ospedaletti bike path. It is 40 km long reaching all the way to Imperia. I hope Bordighera adheres, it would be amazing to get to France by bike path. There are places to stop along the way and many biker rentals. Lovely idea.

Visited end of July. Perhaps there was a water restriction as the gardens seemed dry. Places needed trimming or at least tidied up. A bit run down. Paths and stairs need renovating. A few areas/paths closed. I would love to visit again when not so dry and renovations finished. Free parking limited to the street. Lovely view of the sea.

What an incredibly beautiful property. This garden is absolutely worth a visit. It's best to allocate at least 1hr to visit and discover the beauty of this garden! Parking options are a bit limited and visitors need to park alongside the main road.

I love botanical gardens and try to visit at least a new one each vacation. The location of Hanbury botanical gardens is very special, with great views of the Mediterranean sea, and have interesting features, in terms of the antique buildings, plants and decorations (statues, etc) but imo it really needs more care! We visited in August, which I understand is a hot and dry month, but in comparison to other botanical gardens -in the same region- also visited in summer, this one could really gain with more irrigation, plant care, and some details as more labeling of the plants species and some additional informative data (origin, uses, etc) Hope this comment is taken into consideration for improvement.

Would not have missed this botanical gardens. We've spend approximately 3 hours here. The garden is beautiful even at early September. It is true that some parts need some maintenance, but it also gives some extra charm to it. Imagine the potential! A big plus is the silence, especially since the rest of Cote d'Azur is such a busy and extravert environment. Highly appreciated!

Just a fantastic garden and setting. Put aside a few hours for a walk around the garden. Numerous viewpoints and benches to sit and soak up the plants, cactus and trees. Even a cafe!

Very impressive and beautiful. Unfortunately some parts were closed due to storm damage. But still it was a walk of wonder and delight to see all this exotic flora and spectacular views! Take notice there is no dedicated parking lot so be prepared to park your car along the street, hopefully not too far off.

Contrary to what is indicated, the Cocteau Museum is closed down since several years (due to storm damage) and looks abandoned. Part of the collection can be visited in the nearby "Bastion". The original Cocteau Museum building was anyway not a brilliant addition to the beautiful city of Menton, so let's hope that it will simply be razed one day.

On the promenade you will admire the magnificent architecturally modern building that houses the Jean Cocteau museum (Musee Jean Cocteau). It contains 2000 works by Jean Cocteau, the multi-talented French artist, painter, poet and director. He lived a large part of his life in Mendon and when he died he donated his works to the city. The Museum will delight those who visit it, especially art lovers.

Excellent cemetery, up on a hill right in the old town. Easy walk up the old stairs, old style path. Well signed. Drinking water (tap) up top, not much else. Great views of sea, harbor, mountains, on both sides. Even a few benches to enjoy the solitude and the views, along with the permanent guests. Very interesting monument work, some recent, some as old as 1885 (maybe older), some clean and polished, some falling apart, some obviously expensive, some humble. All tell a short small story of loss, that somebody at some time, cared.

Good historic cemetery. Easy to get to from the seaside. Go up the Orange staircases and when you get to the church, make a sharp right up more stairs. These stairs take you to the cemetery through very quaint alleys and houses. Very well worth the steps to get to the cemetery.

Why I am a tombstone tourist at times? It is architecture, with art stones from different eras, the finely carved sculptures, they were meant to be seen and appreciated. I will always find something interesting about history as well. I am curious about the stories of the people whose lives are represented on the tombs. This peaceful abode's permanent residents include a Russian prince, the tomb of William Webb Ellis, legendary inventor of the sport. Aubrey Vincent Beardsley an English illustrator and author. Plus this lovely Kingdom of eternal rest has one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Menton. Look out over beautiful carved angels to the dazzling blue of the Mediterranean Sea💙.

Menton has been attracting European vacationers and retirees for 150 years and many of them ended their days here. And it would be hard to find a more scenic spot for a last farewell. There are residents here from the USA to Russia and most points in between. Many of the graves teeter on the brink of a precipice with no safeguarding for grieving relatives or inquisitive visitors but it is wildly beautiful. The British section is on a lower level accessed by a gate to the right of the main entrance where you will find escapees from Stalybridge and Wimbledon resting in the Mediterranean sunshine. Joining them for a few moments quiet reflection is rewarding.

About 10-15mins straight walk uphill from the basilica cathedral is the cemetery. There is only 1 exit and entrance which is beside a main road. Entry is free. On a late Thursday afternoon, it was very peaceful and there were only 3-4 other visitors. The cemetery offers a nice view of menton but the place itself is very charming with its medieval theme and random spots w wild roses growing 💕 Definitely worth a visit if you happen to visit the cathedral as well!

Spent 1 night with 1 tent here. The view is great, staff is friendly. The campsite has decent and clean showers and toilets. You can easily access by foot from the town, but it is a steep and sweaty hike in the summer! 20 euros for the night (solo, 1 tent, 1 night, no car). Slightly noisy depending on where your spot is because you can hear cars/motorcycles from the roads.

Nice location for train excursions to nice and Monte Carlo as well as the town itself. Bathrooms older and not clean. Not even toilet paper provided. A bit pricey at Euro 48 per night off season. Approach is a bit challenging for larger motorhomes.

Camping with a great view to the sea. Great showers. Soap for the toilet but no toilet paper. Very expansive (20 euro for small tent and one person, I think 27 for 2) very nice receptionist. Stayed here for 3 nights at first, next year for 1 night and then again for 6, so I totally recommend it. Would come back if I can. Great sunrises at the end of September (beginning of September they come from the mountain), so you should wake up early :)

Great campsite in a great part of the French Riviera. We have returned to the campsite having spent 4 nights in our campervan last year. The facilities are kept clean and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Steep walk up to the campsite but it doesn’t take long.

Very noisy. Hard to sleep. Seems to be more of a park ground for cars to drive in and out than a camping… it‘s streets all around d the camp ground. Over priced. Not warm welcoming.

I was really excited to visit this place. However the websites instructions are very misleading. Basically, they have opening hours... which you'd assume you'd be able to rock up and buy tickets and view... but it seems you must buy tickets and arrive on time for a tour. Outside of these times they lock the gate, start the tour and completely ignore you. Considering this is a tourist destination, you'd assume this would be explained: 'buy ticket online, arrive on time for the tour and enjoy the tour' instead it doesn't. Sadly we travelled really far just to see the gate.

Teach the staff how to treat people with respect and accept that bad things happen and they can help solve them October 2024 We were looking forward to coming to Cabanon de Le Corbusier and purchased our tickets way in advance. We were staying Northwest of Nice and left at 8:00 am for a 10:00 am tour. We tried to load the address on our car - since there is no street address number, the car would not take the address. So we used our Google Maps. We came down the hill and saw the sign for the Cabanon and Google Maps said we were here. We were not there, but we did not know that. I got out of the car and walked around looking for the building. We asked two different groups of people. The first did not know and the second group did, but they did not know how to get there without looking it up on their google maps. Their conclusion was to go the railroad station. Not sure why our tickets did not just give the train station as the address. After all of this we called the staff to say we were coming late and they said too bad - so sad. You are out of luck. We drove there anyhow. They made a bad situation much worse. 1) Did they try to make any accommodations - absolutely not. 2) It was so bad that when we asked to go to the bathroom for some in our party - the receptionist said there were no restrooms around the area - they actually had one and let ticket holders use it - we had six tickets and she was saying no restrooms around. 3) They had an 11:00 am time slot to tour the building without anyone going into the building and we asked if they would just give us a ten minute tour and Amy, who apparently was in charge - said "NO"!. I ran a not for profit for 37 years and we worked to get to yes, never to say no so quickly. Did she do anything to acknowledge that we had driven nearly two hours - that we were probably 900 feet away, just up above and maybe - just maybe she needed to try to do something. NO!!!!!! I have never been treated like this by any museum, cultural facility in my life and in particular in France. One of the staff acted like she wanted to help. Although even her solutions were not helpful. As with most customer issues, these issues have been known to the organization before. I believe they have known that google maps does not get you to the building, have they done anything to solve that? Have they tried to get a number on their address so that car maps can get you there? Have they put any signage up to the area where google maps says you have arrived to solve this issue? Have they trained any of their staff not to dismiss people who have arrived late with some type of accommodation other than you can see it from the outside? In the organization that I ran, my staff would have been trained to resolve issues not make them worse. Did they even try to give us our money back - that was not the option we wanted - they do not offer to give your money back - in fact they say you do not get your money back - but you can write to an address. Save your time - save your money - I am certain this is a worthwhile thing to look at - but if something happens you will run into a buzz saw that shows no mercy and solves no problems. I do not normally turn into an ugly American - but folks and their procedures/attitude can bring it out in anybody.

Come on ... booking in advance to see a couple of ordinary beach houses and holiday unit as Eileen Gray E-1027 where nothing is worth the visit and it's no different that Le Corbusier have stayed there when you know his work in cities ... let alone for € 19 !
