Designed by the talented artist Pietro Cascella, this stunning fountain is carved from pristine white Carrara marble. Its design represents a rowing ship, beautifully paying tribute to Pescara’s rich maritime tradition.

(Translated by Google) It is one of the symbolic monuments of the city, created by Pietro Cascella in 1986 and inaugurated in July 1987. It represents a stylized ship with a broken bow flying towards the center of the city as evidence of the desire to row in favor of the local inhabitants, for their well-being and prosperity! The stern, on the other hand, leaves space and depth to the Adriatic, an indispensable resource for this place created precisely for the fishing activity! The material used is composed of stone and marble elements. It is therefore worth making a stop to admire it from all angles! (Translated by Google) La Galea The monument fountain created by Pietro Cascella from Pescara is called “La Nave”. To create it, the sculptor was inspired by the galley, an ancient rowing vessel, and by the city’s great seafaring tradition. It also recalls the Pescara prisoners of the Bagno Borbonico, who were used as rowers on Spanish ships until 1859. The bow faces the city and is intended as a symbol of the citizens’ vocation to work, travel and return. (Original) La Galea La fontana monumento realizzata dal pescarese Pietro Cascellaha il nome “La Nave”. Per realizzarla lo scultore si è ispirato alla galea un’antica imbarcazione a remi e alla grande tradizione marinaresca della città. This is the most famous and frequenter square in Pescara and you will love to take a walk with your friends or with your family here. Furthermore, this is the place where more frequently the most important events are organised, for example concerts and representations. The floor is clean and around the square there are restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a good meal.

The food was really delicious. We took the scoglio pasta and the cotto et funghi pizza. The pizza didn’t have any tomato sauce but the dough and ingredients were so good you didn’t need it. The pasta was also delicious. We had a nice corner table that was cozy and fresh for the evening. The waiters were very sweet and friendly and we even got fried dough balls for free as an appetizer. 👍🏻 nice fancy but not too fancy seaside restaurant.
Eva V — Google review
I recommend this place! The beach is beautiful and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The charge for a sunbed ranges from €20 to €25, depending on the spot. I didn’t try the food, so I can’t comment on that, but overall, a great spot to relax by the sea.
Ela O — Google review
I’ve just spent 18 euros on this “frittata di gamberi i calamari” for 2 and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. I bet there are much better options around, I was not lucky on my choice this time. Hope they improve, it would be great to have good food enjoying the nice beach. Two stars only because the staff was friendly when got my order.
Letícia V — Google review
A great beachside stop. Restful, with helpful staff and a great family atmosphere. There was no indication of where to recycle tins and plastic, but the staff took recyclables back on request.
Greg M — Google review
So second time in Sole e Luna… the head waitress is an absolute gem. Kind, helpful and friendly. Good seafood, fresh, tasty and wine fairly priced. Book a table outdoors if you can. I had the grilled tuna, very generous!
Dominique Y — Google review
Nestled on the sun-kissed shores of Pescara, Italy, this beach restaurant offers an enchanting experience like no other. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the attentive staff whose hospitality surpassed all expectations. The coastal ambience was captivating, with tasteful beach-themed decor and a refreshing sea breeze. As the evening unfolded, we were treated to an extraordinary culinary journey, showcasing the finest, creatively prepared seafood dishes and traditional Italian delicacies. The service was impeccable, with a staff passionately dedicated to ensuring our every need was met. From the courteous host to the knowledgeable sommelier, each interaction was filled with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. In the end, it was not just the exquisite food that made our visit memorable, but the remarkable service that made us feel truly cherished. If you seek an unforgettable dining experience in Pescara, this beach restaurant is an absolute must-visit.

It’s nice to come back to the hometown and appreciate the slowly growing and improving as an Italian burocrazie are specialists. This is one of the most beautiful places to visit. Very suggestive.

Must visit! By far the most spectacular views over the 16km length of beach Pescara has to offer! I didn’t manage to catch the sunset, however, still amazed with the beauty of the bridge! Next time I’ll go earlier and get the best of both views!
Gabriela I — Google review
I recommend to visit this iconic spot before the sunset. It’s a wonderful place for a walk, to take photos, or simply enjoy the scenery. It is the largest bicycle-pedestrian bridge in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. The architecture is modern and impressive. The views from the top are truly beautiful. You can see both the sea and the city.

Aurum is a branded orange-scented brandy that has been produced in Pescara since 1925. The name "Aurum" comes from the Latin word for gold, and it is often served on the rocks or poured over creamy gelato. The factory premises where Aurum was made have been renovated and transformed into a congress, meeting, and exhibition center.
A building of significant historical significance in Anbruzzo. I visited during the cultural celebratory week and attended the museum.
Riccardo B — Google review
Recently visited this facility for attending a scientific conference. There I came to know that this building was a distillery facility turned to event venue. The appearance is great, but lack of Cooling infrastructure given the Italian heat. A few places lectures were happening without AC. Other than this, this is a nice venue to host events.
Sumanta C — Google review
If you need a venue to organize an event in Pescara, Aurum is the best choice. It’s a Comfortable and cozy place with different spaces.
Giovanna M — Google review
Beautiful historical building that becomes a location for hosting various exhibitions
Larraine C — Google review
Aurum has been the factory premises of a typical herb sweet liquor made in Pescara. Now it is used as a congress, meeting and exhibition center. The building has been recently renovated, so all the spaces look fresh and modern. The particular round architecture with huge windows gives a sense of openess and lightness everywhere. It is not far from the center and easily reacheable by bus from the train and bus station in 10-15 minutes. Ideal location for congresses and events.
Enrico N — Google review
Excellent venue for conventions, it's design combines perfectly the history of the place and the modernity of it's new use. It's only problem is the absence of a centralized parking area

The absolute hit of Abruzzo: the abbacy founded in IX century with church of XII century. All things are beautiful here: apostles in the portico capitals; lunette with pope Hadrian II, emperor Louis II and other historic persons; Romanesque ambo, paschal and ciborium: original ancient reliquarium etc...Highly recommended! Easy pedestrian way from Torre de' Passeri station

Gorgeous area! We particularly enjoyed finding colourful salamanders on our path - literally. We did the loop hike, which starts with a VERY steep path up the mountain. We literally had to climb in some places. Out of the multiple hikes we did in the Majella National Park, this was by far the most challenging one. The second half of the loop followed the river and was much more accessible. Unless you're used to (very) difficult hikes and don't mind a steep climb, I'd recommend skipping the first half of the loop and just going by the path by the river twice. A bit of a climb will still be required at the end, near the waterfall.
Lise — Google review
Overall doable with kids (6 year old did it fine) and isn't exhausting, but does take a while, 3 hours there and back at least. Clean trail, no trash, signs posted. Came back the same way as getting there, the fork in google maps wasn't really there, maybe it's somewhere else. Water was quite cold. Nothing much to see along the trail except a couple rock faces, and the stream and it's canyon where it's near the trail. Take care when crossing the stream, it's easy to do but there are some slippery spots. Initial gradient very easy, does get steeper in the second half.

Maiella, a limestone massif located in a national park, is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as cycling tours. The area is also known for the pristine Green River and the town of Fara San Martino, famous for its pasta production. Decontra, a picturesque village in Maiella Mountains, offers stunning mountain vistas and tranquility. Additionally, Maiella National Park is home to the endangered marsican brown bears and features challenging off-trail routes for adventurous hikers.
Unique mountain range, there are several shelters, both free and not, where you can spend the night comfortably, obviously well equipped with clothing. A place really rich in everything that a lover of nature seeks, for example caves, such as that of the horse, river, waterfalls, old abbeys in the mountain, not to mention the view once you get to the top of the mountain bitter, in fact, with very clear air, you can clearly see the Adriatic Sea, the mountain range is very similar to the Dolomites, for that is suggestive in central Italy ... Magnificent place both in winter, with special equipment, but also in summer with the mountain bare.

Museo Confetti Pelino, located just outside Sulmona, is a celebration of the history and production of the town's famous confetti. It is home to the oldest confetti company in Sulmona. Visitors can tour the facility and explore its museum, which offers insight into how the Pelino company started. The large retail store on-site provides various options for purchasing confetti, making it a great place to find unique gifts.
It’s our 2nd time in Sulmona to get Confetti and our 1st time visiting the museum. The museum is lovely, small and you can see it in less than 30 minutes. There’s a short video at the end that tells the story of confetti and it’s worth watching. At the end of the visit, there’s a shop and even though some of the shops in town are more lively, it still has this old-fashioned, vintage shop air and ambience that I so love about European shops in general. The ladies at the shop will let you try the different flavors, all you have to do is ask. Prices are reasonable and it’s a great gift idea for those who come from overseas and want to gift people back home. Pellino confetti are soft and delicious. It’s one of my favorite desserts in Italy

Trattoria Borgo Antico

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Diner
If you find yourself in a charming town steeped in family heritage, make sure to stop by Trattoria Borgo Antico. This delightful eatery comes highly recommended for its exceptional vegetarian offerings, which can sometimes be hard to come by in Italy beyond the usual pizzas and pastas. The experience here is unique; instead of a traditional menu, the chef and owner presents a series of beautifully crafted dishes while sharing insights about each ingredient.
Had an incredible 12 course meal here with a large group. Chef's choice is the way to go. Owner is a bit arrogant so if you just let him walk around like a peacock and sing his own praises and clap and cheer, he will serve you the best meal of your life. He is touchy so dont go in like an American tourist thinking the customer is always right. Chef is always right in this place!

I’m traveling around the world, I can’t imagine I paid for 90euro for 4 pastas and 1 appetizers, 2 non mineral simple water come from faucet. The restaurant it’s called Trattoria which cheap and popular place. It’s a TRAP beware! We are 2 adults and 1 child and the pasta is little portions is good for child but for adult no.

This trattoria is a hidden gem! We stopped there for lunch on our way from Puglia to Rome, and had a meal of antipasti made from the freshest ingredients. I think this trattoria is unique and I highly recommend it!

My uncle highly recommended we stop for a meal here in the town of my family's heritage. We phoned ahead for a reservation and to let them know that our party of three was all vegetarian--they were happy to accommodate our needs, and the food was wonderful! No menu or choosing, the chef/owner brought out a series of plates, carefully explaining the ingredients and answering any questions we had--the food was gorgeous and delicious--and all vegetarian, which is not always easy in Italy beyond simple pizzas and pastas. It was a treat to be well cared for and we would highly recommend a visit. Yes, it is an expensive restaurant, but go for the experience and the love of good food and good people. I hope to return to this gem again.

Decided to try Jolly Park as a way to beat the heat. It's very easy to find- less than an hour from Gricignano. Parking was easy and it's only €12 for the day! Enough slides to keep our group of boys busy for the whole day, as well as slides and pool areas for younger children too. We had no problem finding shaded seats - we did go during the week though, so I'm not sure what it would be like on the weekends. Our group of children ranged from ages 9-12 and I would highly recommend it for that age group. The park appeared well kept and had lots of attendants and lifeguards. We will definitely be going back!

I really liked this place. You can play with dogs, however i don't reccomend going there on crowded days if you want to play with a dog that is not yours. The reasoning behind that is- that when there are too many people, they cannot keep track of the dog that you are taking care of/playing with. All in all, I think this place is splendid. If you already have a dog, and you want your dog to encounter other dogs and build a bond, this is the place to be. Also, this place is perfect for a picnic too. The only thing I haven't enjoyed was that there was poop everywhere. Not welcoming? Nope! There are further more advantages to this place than disadvantages, so I would rate this place a 4 or 5.
Lunaa — Google review
Terrible and quite disturbing. This is a puppy farm, sugar coat it how you’d like. I saw the mums of two litters and they were so frightened cowering on the floor shaking. The people were dragging them out to show us! Then when we weren’t interested they tried to barter on price like a knock off handbag. Over bred and filthy, handling puppies that were days old. We went out of peak season so I suppose they were caught somewhat off guard. I would not support this with a single penny of my money.

Let me start by saying we stood in a very long queue on Sunday 28 July 2024 in a blistering heat with 4 kids ... eventually, we could pay ...its not cheap either... got in the park and very quickly saw that some of the slides were out of order or broken all together... After queuing again to get onto a slide and going down, I noticed that it was well worn out through time... I think the park was built in 1991 and nothing has been renewed since then .... I sat near the restaurant where I was continually annoyed by ants 🐜... I spent 102€ to get in ....I only stayed for the kids ... if it was up to me alone, I would have asked for my money back and left straight away ...basically I can't recommend a visit unless you want to give you hard earned money away for a broken down old and ruined water park.
Darren R — Google review
The park has a variety of rides and pools, but most of them are for smaller kids. The most spectacular ride seemed to be closed permanently. The Kamikaze is for 16+. Generally, the park is run down. The rides closed for siesta at 1pm! Not OK in a water park, especially when you pay for a whole day. Bring your own lunch. There are a couple of bars with pastery and snacks, but the restaurant was closed. You pay 5 euro for parking!

The English Garden, located in the top right corner of the park, is a 65-acre picturesque landscape that dates back to the 1780s. It was created at the behest of Maria Carolina, sister of Marie Antoinette, and is considered one of Europe's earliest examples of its style. The garden entrance lies just beside the fountain of Diana and Actaeon and covers an area of 25 hectares.
This garden is located within the Caserta Royal Palace. The garden is a lovely place for a stroll. It's very peaceful, calm and quite big. But to get to the garden it is quite a walk from the main castle. I would recommend taking the bus or golf cart if the weather, in particular if the weather is warm. Make sure to visit the Criptoportico. So beautiful and a must-see for nature-lovers!
Jelly T — Google review
Beautiful garden! It’s worth the walk to get there.
Héléna B — Google review
Lovely walk. A proper explorative walk of the gardens will take around 2 hrs. I thought there was some similarity between the Park Güell arches and those of the English garden of the Royal Palace of Caserta. There are also interesting links between nature and a "lost" world, with arcane atmospheres recurrent in modern TV series, e.g., Lost, etc., somewhat surprising, given that these gardens were done in 1786...
Stefano C — Google review
Nestled at the very end of the your trip through the palace park. Definitely worth the hard work of traversing the entirety of the park. Stunning grotto awaits and rewards your hard work of navigating through the English garden.

The fountain and the garden are very beautiful. The walk to the fountain seemed like a longer walk with kids so we took the bus the line wasn't very long for the bus. I very much enjoyed the gardens and how beautiful the scenery was.

The English garden is a must-see garden! Take the time out of your life to visit this wonderful 18th English garden with its parkland form packed full of amazing surprises. From the 18th beehive courtyard to the water lily pond and the "ancient" ruins, I was captivated by every step through this garden. I'm so pleased I took the time to visit it. For €9 per person, I think it's an absolute steal! Visiting tips 1. If you have the time and the energy, walk from the palace to the English garden. It is approximately 2km, slightly uphill, but you'll see some amazing waterfalls and sculpture along the way. 2. If you just want to see the English garden and don't have time to walk from the palace, the shuttle bus takes you there from the palace for just €2.50 each way. 3. Make sure you find the bath of Venus in the garden. It's truly stunning. 4. If you need a bite to eat or a drink in the hot sun, there is a bar restaurant outside the English garden near to the Diana fountain which is reasonably priced.

Nestled in the heart of Italy, the Royal Palace of Caserta stands as a magnificent testament to Baroque architecture and opulence. This sprawling palace, surrounded by lush gardens adorned with stunning fountains, was commissioned by Charles III of Bourbon as a rival to Versailles. Since its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, visitors have been captivated by its nearly 1,200 rooms filled with exquisite furnishings and breathtaking frescoes.
Amazing and impressive place; staggering the scale of it and how long it took to build, but not at all surprising when you see it. An absolute must to visit, it is the only way it can be truly appreciated. Over 1,200 rooms and about 40 metres tall! The gardens are absolutely huge and equally impressive, I recommend the minibus if you don't have so much time because you can easily spend a whole day walking around the entire property, but you do then miss out on the length of the run to the garden, especially you like taking pictures. Given the number of rooms, there's clearly a lot to see inside. Both areas contain a huge amount of creative items to see, like statues (mostly in the gardens) and paintings and other fixtures.

I think it’s one of Italy’s hidden gems. Such a lovely place with marvelous architecture and a beautiful garden. However, I believe it deserves more care and attention—the garden could be even more stunning than it currently is. The entrance ticket to the palace was €12 as of September 2025, with the last entry at 6 PM. After 5 PM, the fee is reduced to €5. The garden has a separate entrance fee of €3 and remains open until 7:30 PM. I highly recommend visiting this palace. It’s truly worth it!

I can't recommend it enough, it's astonishing. If I was to go back I'd visit the palace one day and the gardens another. I spent a whole day from 8:30 am to 4pm and I could have easily spent a few more hours just walking around soaking the beauty of the place, but I was tired and I had to get the bus back.

The Royal Palace of Caserta is a stunning 18th-century masterpiece, rivaling Versailles in scale and elegance. Designed by Luigi Vanvitelli for the Bourbon kings of Naples, it features lavish interiors, grand staircases, and expansive gardens with fountains and sculptures. A UNESCO World Heritage site, it offers a majestic glimpse into royal opulence and Italian artistry.

A magnificent place that truly impresses with its scale and beauty! 🏛️ The palace resembles Versailles but with its own Italian charm — vast halls, marble staircases, frescoed ceilings, and beautifully preserved 18th-century furnishings. The park is especially breathtaking — an endless alley with fountains, cascades, and statues stretching for several kilometers. It’s best to allow at least 3–4 hours for a walk, and if you plan to reach the Grand Waterfall on foot, reserve the whole day. You can rent an electric cart or a bike, and if you’re visiting with a group, it’s convenient to take a small shuttle bus — just €5 per person. 🎟️ It’s best to buy tickets online to avoid queues. ☕ At the very end of the park, near the waterfall, there’s a cozy café where you can enjoy authentic Italian cuisine and relax after the walk. 📷 It’s also one of the most picturesque places in Campania for photography. Overall — an absolute must-visit if you’re in Naples or nearby. Historical grandeur, natural beauty, and a true sense of the past — all in one place. ⭐ Rating: 5/5

Grandiose structure (mostly empty) but the royal chambers (Piano nobile) are quite extensive and richly decorated and elegantly furnished. I enjoyed a 90 minute very informative guided tour in Italian (unfortunately with an excessive amount of Bourbon-era nostalgia... and no critical comment on the social costs of such bombastic projects and the sociopolitical effects of spatial distancing of royalty from the common folk in a guilded playground). I found this Reggia more elegant and pretty than the Quirinal and some other palaces in Italy (laden with austere or disproportionate displays of Baroque or mismatched styles or unfinished or unrestored works). Many similar palaces in Germany and Austria are however more elegant and aesthetically pleasing (they have also been restored to a supreme level of splendor and decadence by exceedingly generous government allocations in recent years). What recent administrations have done to restore the Reggia after decades of neglect is surely remarkable. The mixture of contemporary art with the original museum exhibits (after COVID) is not always very convincing: some combinations work fine but in other cases there is no real dialogue between works of art (the contemporary pieces - of differing quality and from a single collection linked to a recent natural disaster - seem put there very jarringly simply to respect the conditions of the donation, i.e. that they reach the widest public possible, and little concern for the dignity and harmony of the rooms' decor). Some works would work better in the empty exhibition spaces of the palace (even with baroque and neoclassical works included for comparison). But then you if you expand the exhibition spaces, you need to keep visitors there the whole day to visit the royal chambers and the rest of the museum. So you would need to attract families with children (with some technology exhibits, children's areas, etc.) and full day visitors (with a food court, performances in the gardens, picknic areas, horse riding...). I hope the site continues to develop into a mature and diversified tourist venue.

Not just a must see, an amazing experience! One of the most beautiful gardens i ve ever been in my life! You should definetely go there. You can skip the palace, its just another palace, but you should get to the garden! We ve made the one way on foot, and we came back with the bus. Its a reaaaaly long distance, so i would suggest you to rent a bicycle. it would be much more pleasant. If you get there at its opening time, you will have the garden for yourself!!!

The Royal Palace of Caserta is truly breathtaking. Built in the 18th century for the Bourbon kings and designed by Luigi Vanvitelli, it was meant to rival Versailles and you can really feel it. The rooms are grand and elegant, the monumental staircase is stunning, and the huge gardens with fountains and long water basins are spectacular. The history behind it, from its royal origins to its UNESCO recognition, makes the visit even more meaningful. Absolutely worth seeing if you’re in Campania!!!

During my recent travels to Campania, I made it a point to visit the enchanting Temple of Venus, nestled within the stunning English Garden. The captivating images of the Bath of Venus had piqued my interest, and stepping into this serene space felt like entering a hidden cave far removed from the bustling streets of Naples. It was truly a fantastic spot for relaxation—bellissimo!
Worth the experience. Felt like I was in a cave far, far away from Naples.

We went on 1st of January and it was closed but on the website was saying it’s open so was on google we drove and found this disappointing. We then visited on the 3rd and it was great not busy and very few people. Decent prices in many shops. Bars and restaurants are quite good. Everywhere it’s clean and well maintained. Good place with many unusual and different brands.

Great Outlet with a good choice of shops. It’s dog friendly with a little fountain where they can drink. It has a good amount of benches around so you can sit down a little whenever you want.

✅ One of the great place for shopping and a delightful stroll. 😉 Some advice: ➡️ Don't miss the Jack & Jones store. 👍 Really nice, high-quality clothes at a reasonable price. 🛍👟Happy shopping and a lovely walk through the shopping town for everyone🤗

A very beautiful and relaxing place. The shop are nice and have good prices. Also the place is very clean and cosy. Would absolutely visit there again.

This is what happens in La Reggia Outlet, in their parking lot. "Security" lets thieves know of foreign cars that can be robbed and then refuses to call the Police. They claim this is the Outlet's policy. They see the robbers and let them go. In just one car shop in Napoli were four other foreign cars, the same modus operandi. At midday, with other cars parked around. This is not possible in a civilized country, my kids were shocked. DO NOT SHOP HERE!
Cosmin C — Google review
It's a good place for shopping and spending time. Parking is more or less available, and there are a few restaurants and coffee shops inside the mall itself, which is quite large. There are different brands in this complex, and the prices are much lower than in other places.

A great place to walk around and shop outdoors (perfect for COVID times). The prices are better than in the cities, but not that incredible. The dining options are limited, so if you're hungry and picky, make sure you eat before your visit. Parking was free, which is nice.

Cuma Archaeological Park is a historical gem that showcases the grandeur of the past, featuring the acropolis built by Ancient Greeks in the 8th century BC. Visitors can immerse themselves in local culture by experiencing events and festivals in Bacoli. The park offers breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and plenty of space for outdoor activities, making it an ideal destination for families. Additionally, excursions in the surrounding area provide opportunities for adventure and direct contact with nature.
We used public transport. Which dropped us off at the foot of the sight. Entrance was 5 euro. Pleasantly surprised at what you and get to experience. Not many people when went. Took our time exploring and enjoying the views. Must see in Naples.

Entrance to the park allows you access to the Cave of the Cumean Sibyl and Augustan age ruins of Temple of Apollo and Temple of Jupiter. Discounted prices for children and with the Arte card.

Another impressive site that covers a lot of ground. It’s lovely to walk around this ancient settlement under trees overlooking the bay of Naples. Unfortunately, the explanation boards are already quite damaged so not all information can be read. Due to the larger sites around Naples there are not many visitors coming to this particular site which makes for a rather relaxed visit. The acropolis is particularly interesting to the tunnels in the rock and to its background as the first Greek colonial settlement in this part of the ancient world.
Nina S — Google review
What a spectacular Greek ruins site. It is filled with wonderful pieces of a not well-known part of the history to many. There are lots of new discoveries happening right now. Very interesting. This was my 4th visit. There's always something "new"...fascinating. Oracle Sybilla is like nothing I've seen before 👌
Carla K — Google review
You should approach this site as a pleasant and scenic park worthy of a peacefull stroll amongst the oaks, olives and ruins on a hill with great views of the coast out toward Ischia. Signage is just ok. The ruins are too desicated to be of more than marginal interest. Definitely worth a couple hours, and Sibyll's cave was cool.
Thor A — Google review
Awesome place to take the family. Not stroller friendly and there are a few steep parts for the kids but overall worth doing. Definitely worth a day trip to explore the whole site. Don’t forget to stop and get some ice cream at the end. Lastly, there is plenty of parking, but I would just park wherever you can find it. The road is narrow at the parking close to the entrance so it gets really congested. Save yourself the time and just park a little further away.
Paul B — Google review
Beautiful site to visit with gorgeous views of the Mediterranean! Plenty of space for the kids to run around, plenty to explore and read about. A great way to combine a history lesson and an outdoor activity for the family. We especially loved the different atmospheres in each area of the site, the kids never got bored!
Chelsea K — Google review
A site really, really, really underestimated. All visitors come to visit Pompeii or Ercolano if time is sufficient, but Cuma is, indeed, much more ancient rather than the first two. You can find remains of temples and streets up to 700 BC, 700 and 500 years before than the eruption!! For sure some points need to be addressed to enhance this site. First of all, more indications, since it was hard to follow the correct path, up to the main two temples. Secondly, the description of the momuments, very old and ruined, dated 90s. They seriously need a restoration.

Nestled in the Campania region of southern Italy, Lake Avernus is a stunning volcanic crater lake that offers visitors a serene escape into nature. Surrounded by picturesque trails perfect for walking and biking, this enchanting spot is not only rich in natural beauty but also steeped in history. The area boasts fascinating archaeological sites like the Cave of the Sibyl and remnants of ancient structures such as the Temple of Serapis and the Roman Apollo Temple.
A Fascinating Glimpse into Myth and History Lake Avernus is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, mythology, or just enjoying a beautiful natural setting. This crater lake, formed in a dormant volcano, was once believed to be the entrance to the underworld! What I loved: * The atmosphere: Even knowing the myths aren't true, there's a definite sense of mystery and ancient power here. It's incredibly peaceful and evocative. * Historical remnants: You can see ruins of temples and structures from the Roman era, adding another layer of interest. * Great for walking: The path around the lake is easy to follow and provides stunning views. Perfect for a leisurely stroll or a jog. * Nearby attractions: The Sibyl's Cave is a short distance away and worth exploring as well. Things to keep in mind: * Accessibility: While the main path is fairly level, some areas might be challenging for those with mobility issues. * Amenities: There are a few cafes and restaurants nearby, but it's not overly commercialized. * Seasonal changes: I visited in the spring and it was lovely, but I imagine it could get quite hot in summer. Overall, Lake Avernus is a unique and memorable place. It's a fascinating blend of natural beauty, history, and legend. Highly recommended!

Nice and peaceful walk around the lake. Plenty of birds, turtles and relaxed cats. There are the rests of the Romain Apoolo Temple. Really clean and enjoyable.
M S — Google review
Ancient Greeks called Lago d’Averno the mouth of hell because passing birds were suffocated by the fumes. The lake was turned into part of a naval base by Cornelius Agrippa after he cut a canal. Emperor Nero furthered this by building a canal lined with colonnades. Ruins surround the lake, including the Temple of Apollo which is currently being renovated and is covered with no trespassing tape and remains of a dome building which is suspected to have been as big as the Roman Pantheon. If you gaze into the water, you can visibly see steps going down and leading somewhere… There is nothing marked on the trail about whether excavations are being done of the water or the nearby dome and Sibylline cave. A walk around the lake is tranquil. There are many agro tourism places open for lunch on weekends with prices ranging from €30-40 per person. Birds, ducks and turtles are the most popular creatures here. It may be worthwhile for the government to look into what is killing all of the fish in the lake as the stench is awful and one can only walk a few feet without being Greeted by stinky, belly up, rotting fish who have drifted toward the shore.

Nestled on a serene island in Lake Fusaro, the Casina Vanvitelliana is a stunning pagoda-like hunting lodge that dates back to 1782. This architectural gem, designed by Carlo Vanvitelli during the Bourbon era, offers visitors a glimpse into history while surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Accessible via a charming wooden bridge, it stands out against the tranquil waters and lush surroundings. The area is not only rich in culture but also known for its local mussel farming traditions.
The Casina Vanvitelliana is a very unique type of facility, built by architect Carlo Vanvitelli for Spanish king Ferdinando IV di Borbone on a little tiny island cast upon the Fusaro Lake in the Bacoli municipality. The structure was a place used by the king to relax after hunting, and host for private parties the nobles of his time. The Casina underwent major renovation late nineties/early 2000 which restored the light blue color of the original building. It gets even more fascinating to visit at Christmas time, when the outside it's decorated with beautiful Christmas lights, as the borbonic wood across the lake. If u r in the Naples/Pozzuoli area, definitely worth visiting. One raccomendation is going during the week rather than weekends, and getting there before the sun sets, only time when it's still possible finding a parking spot in the large parking area by the lake.

Casina Vanvitelliana is a small museum in the Campi Flegrei region. It has interesting architecture, location and history. But you can learn more about its history from the locals than from the museum officials. There is little information, the house is quite dilapidated, its museum arrangement is at the amateur level. Even the visiting hours are short, chaotically organized. It is incomprehensible how a valuable monument is treated by the local authorities.
Daniel W — Google review
The Casina on itself is nice, the sorroundings are just awful. Question: why do they feel the need to divide the parking spot from the park using a rusty metal net? Do they understand they are ruining the place? Is that difficult to divide them by a wooden fence? Also, been there a couples of times cause the timetable is not reliable and found it closed. Shameful.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Aragonese Castle of Baia is a historical fortress constructed on top of ancient Roman remains. It boasts an archaeological museum that displays various artifacts from the Greek and Roman eras. The castle offers breathtaking views overlooking the Bay of Naples, making it a popular tourist destination. The exhibits inside provide insightful information about the region's rich history and culture.
Very underrated tourist stop for beautiful ancient archeological artifacts (very ancient, from about 700BC onwards and from different populations who lived in the area). Artefacts are labelled in Italian and English, which is very helpful for tourists. It's clear that people who prepared the displays are passionate about them, so you feel like you are seeing treasures. The castle is very well maintained to make it comfortable and welcoming (better than many "popular" spots in the region) and has a gorgeous view. Parking costs €3 and is a bit tricky to find, but it's the driveway before (if you're coming from Napoli) to the castle entrance. Lovely staff, very helpful. We bought our tickets at the door. They only accept card payment. It was heartbreaking to see that we were the only people in the castle for most of the visit, saw maybe 4 other people while we were there. Bring your own water/snacks and sunscreen, because you'll want to stay on the top floor absorbing the views. We reached the castle by driving - not sure that there is any public transport.

Nice place charming beach. It is not very well marked on google. It toom us some time to get there and find it. You have to take a small boat that comes every 10 min to pick up people. You pay on arrival, although they wrote 35 euros they took 50 for 2 people, 1 umbrella and 2 chairs. There is also a place to eat. Nice experience in general:)

Beautiful views! Off the beaten track in Baia, lots of artifacts and displays about the history of the area. Use your ArteCard for admission. What? You don’t have one? Get online or at the airport!

Very nice to walk the grounds and castle wall, but the museum is small and seems to be missing, well a lot. The castle is beautiful and allows a wonderful place to stroll, and overlook the bay of Pozzuoli but the museum is small (or closed?) and lacks any sort of flow or map or understanding what’s on display. Yes there are signs in English and Italian, but they describe the individual items. There’s no comprehensive understanding of the museum or totality of the collection. I was here years ago and I remember being impressed, is the other part closed for renovations or?? They have a nice restroom and a few areas to sit in the shade. Worth a visit, but with reduced expectations for the museum.
Thomas B — Google review
If you want to see artefacts from various parts of Campi Flegreii, you are at the right place. The exhibit is separated by locations. Each location is very briefly introducted to the visitors and then he can see some statues, stabs etc. On the other hand, if you want to get more familiar with the way of life o ancient Romans or if you want to see the medieval caste, it is not a place for you. Regardless, there are beautiful views over the Bay of Pozzuoli from here.

Nestled on the north-western side of the Gulf of Naples, Piscina Mirabilis stands as a testament to ancient Roman engineering prowess. This remarkable cistern, carved from the tuff cliff face, is not only one of the largest freshwater reservoirs built by Romans but also an architectural marvel featuring a stunning barrel-vaulted ceiling supported by 48 majestic pillars.
Amazing cavernous cistern. The rows of stone pillars really give the impression of a cathedral. Only opens on the hour for people to go in and see. English tours are possible but I think you have to schedule in advance. Ample paid parking nearby although the does appear to be a few spots behind the ticket area. Only takes about 20 minutes to see.

That is an absolutely phenomenal historical site. Its grandeur amazes and excites you! Of course, better maintenance of this remarkable Monument would be welcome. But more painful is that it is not well promoted for tourism, the infrastructure is deficient, so it is not known anywhere near as it deserves.

This is an amazing archeological location. This is a magnificent Roman water collecting tank that was probably used by the Roman Navy. The tank is empty and looks like a cathedral. It is mostly subterranean and almost invisible from outside. There is a small staircase to get there. It is just stunning.

A great hour or so tour of something truly special in bella Napoli! This was the cistern or water storage area for the Roman fleet of ships that were homeported in Miseno. The water came from the mountains and was stored here underground. You can find info on line. We paid 7 euro for the tour and our tour guide and he was excellent- speaking in both English and Italian. He normally gives tours to Japanese groups (if you need a tour guide, find him on FB.) Trust me when I say, the pictures don’t do it justice, this underground cistern for storing water for the Roman fleet headquartered in Miseno is HUGE and impressive!
Thomas B — Google review
Even on a rainy day, the visit was wonderful. The fact that they nobody put up too many signs, or special lighting, or souvenir shops was so restful. The place is spectacular without a lot of help. I did appreciate the modern stairway they have installed. It’s empty now, but used to be a giant cistern built to resupply the water on ships of the Roman fleet. Very long aqueduct kept it full, except when it was drained to get rid of silt. I paid €7 for the guided tour, and it was 100% worth it. If I get the chance, I’m certainly going back. It’s easy to schedule a tour time by email. The place is open Friday Saturday and Sunday.
