Mølen

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Mølen is a stunning pebble beach with a rich historical and natural significance. The area is famous for its great stone mounds from the Iron Age, which are said to number over 1000 Viking burial mounds. The beach offers panoramic sunset views and features hundreds of cairns marking ancient tombs. It's recommended to visit during stormy weather to witness the power of nature, but it's also worth exploring in all seasons.
Beautiful place. Worth a visit during all seasons. When the sea is stormy it's breathtaking. The history of the beach is interesting as well. It's easy to find, plenty of parking as well. Sunset/ Sunrise are stunning.

When ever we visit Norway we visit MØLEN. It's such an amazing place with over 1000 viking burial mounds. Billions of stones make up the foreshore and surrounding area.
Captain E — Google review
Ancient site of grave mounds, mentioned in the Icelandic Sagas. Please 🙏 do not climb on the graves or take stones from here! Respect our ancestors and history! When we visit you, we don't steal from your holy sites, or jump up and down on your graves. The stones will roll down and disappear, I was here 20 years ago and the mounds were so much bigger. Dette gjelder norske turister også. Dette er saga-tids graver. Ikke klatre på Ynglingegravene!

Interesting rocky beach with historical cairnes. Beautiful coastline. It became the first UNESCO Global Geopark in the Nordics in 2008.
Maria K — Google review
Very Nice place to check. Plenty of pretty rocks along the seashore. Can find very old rocks dated thousands of years ago.
Meriam D — Google review
A really wonderful place, very good for walking and relaxing. When I was there in summer I was almost all alone. There's something magical about it ... Always worth a trip!
Mel C — Google review
Amazing Beach. We were there in winter. Nobody was there. Beach of big rocks is interesting. I am curious how it looks in summer.
Barbora K — Google review
I recomend this place when its stormy weather. When ocean is calm and sun is shining; then there are so many other places to enjoy in the region (sandy beaches and cold beer).. but when weather is bad and nowhere to go then this is the place.. Here you see the power of nature. Btw, the viking history is also one reason to visit this place.. but Larvik was full of vikings all over so no reason to just go here..

We walked up from Sentrum and it was quite the uphill walk, but well worth it. A lovely little park with interpretive displays on the historical buildings that have been relocated there. The museum that is in the park is well worth a visit.

It is interesting. Old houses with brief history written beside them. You can see the whole city from up there with binoculars that are available for free. There is also a playground for kids.

The Telemark Canal

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Telemark Canal, a 65-mile waterway opened in 1892, features 18 locks with a total elevation of 72 meters. The childhood home of playwright Henrik Ibsen in Skien is now a museum. Coastal culture awaits in Kragero with its rocks, fresh seafood, and beautiful beaches. Visitors can take the half-day canal ride and history/dinner program from Lunde to Ulefoss for an immersive experience.
It was a very scenic, educational and relaxing boat trip.

I can’t believe all the times in my life I have been to Norway and have never done this. This is a must do - and now will be in my permanent rotation to share with guests that come stay with us. You have a few options headed north. You can start in Skien and end in either Lunde or Dalen. Lunde is the half day trip (5 hours) and Dalen is an entire day - I think about 10 hours. There is also an option to get on in Ulefoss. That one is a three hour tour. Finally, you can get on in Lunde. The entire day gets you 8 locks, the Skien-Lunde is 6, and the Ulefoss- Lunde is 3. All the locks are amazing, but Vrangfoss is the king. The Ulefoss-Lunde gets you that, so if you’re short on time just do that. Don’t do Lunde-Dalen - it’s pretty but you miss Vrangfoss. Tips: they offer a sit down lunch on the boat. We didn’t take that and we were glad we did as we didn’t miss any of the locks. That said, we did get hungry by the time we got off in Lunde at 12:50. Bring a matpakke! (A sandwich in your bag). There is a sit down restaurant right at Lunde lock. The bus won’t leave until 1:30. You DO have time to get a quick meal there before the bus. Just let them know you’re catching the bus. Parking is free at Skien, but you need to get the paper to display in your car from the deck hand on the boat. This was an amazing trip and I can’t wait to do it again.

What a great community center! There was a pool, we saw groups of kids playing Frisbee golf, an employee told me about shooting or bow classes, and I watched mountain bikers race around a course. We spent our time at the adjacent ishall (hockey arena) watching the Women's Parahockey World Challenge. The arena was beautiful but so cold. My friend brought an entire duvet in which to wrap herself.

The best entertainment in Norway WITHOUT ANY QUESTIONS. Warm water, jakuzi, sauna, waterslides, everything for only 250 ish for grown-ups. I can’t even explain how much I love this place. Huge thanks to people who established this beautiful place. I love it. 100/10.
J.J. D — Google review
Me and my family go here, but not always. Still this park is so amazing. The only thing I have been in is their swimming pool however, it's amazing. A wave pool, a swirl pool thingy that spins you around, 3 cold big pools, 2 hot pools, 1 jacuzzi, up to 15m jump I think? An obstacle course, 2 slides. 1 small 1 big. In context amazing. And the thing I have to point out is their amazing contribute to private changing. In other pools for example sandefjord swimming pool, they don't have private small rooms you can change in. But skien fritidspark swimming pool does. The only 3 bad things about it is: 1: on weekends or any day off school, it's overcrowded. Especially during the morning/day. But in the evening it's not that bad. 2: the price. It is quite expensive. My family is big, consisting of 6 people, 2 adults 2 teenagers, 1 teen, and 1 kindergarten kid. The total was around 1200KR. Which is a lot in my opinion. 3: This isn't certainly that bad, but it does come a little unexpected. If you want to buy food in the kiosk/cafe in the swimming area, you have to put money in your bracelet. This doesn't sound that bad, but it's that you have to put the money when you buy the bracelet. They should put a sign or something stating that. Because it wasn't like that before. Other than that, amazing and definitely recommend.
Khalid E — Google review
great fun for children and adults. very nice facility. the only huge downside to staying at this amusement park was that my shoes were stolen. it's good that I had flip-flops and I was waiting for a train return home. And I had Norway as a country where you don't steal ... that's why it gives you one star

Norwegian Mining Museum

Great place to visit- perfect family day out! It’s FREE to get in on Tuesdays! Plus it’s more than just a mining museum: there’s a ski jumping museum and a section on the Royal Mint and coins of Norway too included on site… AND also a geology & science section, a kids climbing area and a war museum downstairs! I never expected all that! My kids aged 10 and 14 really enjoyed it!
Barbara E — Google review
I felt that the tour guide rushed the tour missed all the side rooms could have explained more.
Steven G — Google review
Free parking. Ear plugs given out due to 28 minute round trip by noisy railway. Remember warm clothing as 6c temperature inside. Don't see much other than some tunnels and two lifts. But guide said you can hire some special exploration or big dining room inside for parties. No silver visible. Guide said 600kg lump once found, had to be split in order to get it up in daylight as 1 km deep mine. Part of this is on exhibit in mining museum. Nice guide, not boring. I went with the Norwegian language one, Johannes. Hard hats given, so you don't hit your head in occasional low ceiling. History of most mines found 400 years ago, involves two kids and an animal it sounded like. Real history of discovery, is that locals that found the mine were arrested as all silver belonged to the king, and they were found trying to sell silver. First, the long hired 300 Germans used to mining in soft stone, now they could only do 10cm per month due to hard gneis rock. But they discovered use of heat to crack the stone at 500c, so tunnels were full of smoke and deadly CO, until dynamite arrived. Mine is now flooded as water pumps are turned off. But no water at tourist level. Using latters, it took 45 minutes to descend, then 15 minutes with invention of lifts. Shut down due to low profits, half of all silver has been mined. Age 3 lower age limit.
John T — Google review
All the labels are in Norwegian only, does it really cost that much effort to post an English translation? How are tourists supposed to learn about town history if it’s all in Norwegian? Makes no sense
John — Google review
Impressive ride into the silvermine with a small train. Good presentation how the miners did their difficult jobs in ancient times.

The interior is excellent on the photo. We came to visit the church during opening hours according to the website (it should be opened on Wednesday until 18.00). The church was, however, closed when we came 15.30.

Kongsberg church is the largest baroque-church in Norway. The church has a modest exterior, but a rich rococo interior. The building works started in 1740 and the church was consecrated in 1761. The baroque exterior is strict, dignified and monumental, but the interior is splendid, richly decorated and with lavish motifs, and the church has Norway's richest rococo interior.
Spooner E — Google review
I am not a church person. But church feels grand and quiet. Very old design and special. Worth a visit if u are in kongsberg, but if u plan to travel 200km to visit this, it might be a disappointment.

(Translated by Google) So what a service!! I arrive a little stressed because the girl with diabetes is on Jomfruland and needs some equipment for her insulin pump as she had gotten too little from home. It was a bit critical and had to go out tonight. The last ferry is going to leave and they have no other passengers, no phones from any of the islands and there I arrive stressed and ask if they could drive the small but important equipment out to Jomfruland. That I was willing to pay for the return trip if necessary 😄😄 they wouldn't have anything for it and drove out without protest 😄 have always had positive experiences with Kragerø fjord boat company but this takes the cake 😄😄 it almost doesn't get better 😄 when they drove there was a grateful mother left on the pier who missed a boat trip before an hour's drive home 😄😄 and a rather relieved grandmother and grandfather on Jomfruland who got the equipment they needed 😄😄 hats off for such service 😄 it's completely unique 😄😄 (Original) Altså for en service!!

Heddal stave church

Stave church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Heddal Stave Church, dating back to the 13th century, is Norway's largest stave church and a stunning example of medieval architecture. It boasts a steep tiered roof and intricate woodwork, with 12 large Norwegian pine support pillars adorned with fearsome visages. The church features four elaborately carved entrance portals and is known for its beautiful 1668 'rose' paintings on the walls.
Does not disappoint. If you are driving here put the parking lot as your destination or you get shuttled down a side road with very few parking spots (but closer to the outdoor free museum). Tickets are purchased at the cafe area across the street and there is a small museum area downstairs there. Be sure to ask about the “tour” as the guide will give you lots of good information about the history and construction of the church.
Brian L — Google review
This church is a wonderful thing to look at. And smell. Can't get that from any pictures- it smells like warm tar. It has had some modifications, but is still very interesting. Difficult to view from inside though - just way too many people. Local guides are worth listening to. You can buy souvenirs and coffee from the ticket office. Also- there is a place to sit there, which can be very useful in case of an extremely hot weather.
Ursula A — Google review
13th-century stave church, located in Notodden, Norway, is the largest remaining stave church in the country. The church features a distinctive triple nave design with three towers and multiple roof surfaces at varying angles. What’s a stave church? Stave churches are unique for their distinct post-and-lintel timber construction using vertical posts (“staves”) as the load-bearing framework, a technique evolved from Viking shipbuilding. They are also characterized by their intricately carved decor, which blends Norse mythological themes like dragons with Christian symbolism. These wooden churches, often protected by tar and featuring steep, tiered roofs, are among the oldest surviving wooden churches in the world, serving as a significant link to Norway’s medieval past.
Kiara — Google review
Heddal Stave Church, the largest preserved stave church in Norway, is a breathtaking example of traditional wooden architecture. Surrounded by peaceful countryside, it offers a serene and almost timeless atmosphere. Viewing the exterior is free and absolutely worth the stop—even if you're just passing through. For those curious to see the interior, a small fee of 100 NOK (as of July 2025) applies. While the inside may be modest compared to the grandeur outside, your contribution helps support the preservation of this historic site. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Norway’s cultural heritage!
Thilina P — Google review
Didn’t go inside but amazing from the outside! Tar smells also so good!! We had even some cold drinks and ice cream from the cafe on the hot day. Plenty of parking, just follow the signs.
Fanni V — Google review
Heddal Stave Church is absolutely stunning — both in scale and craftsmanship. It’s the largest stave church in Norway and feels like something out of a fantasy movie. The wooden architecture is incredibly well preserved, and the atmosphere is peaceful and awe-inspiring.
Lukas K — Google review
Fantastic wooden church! Buy a ticket to go inside, well worth it! TIP: Also visit the very small but super nice open air museum, 300m to the right of the church goes a small road uphill. Old wooden farms. Great tour guide speaks very well English!
Tjeerd V — Google review
The church looks really cool. You can go in and look around a bit but it's smaller than you'd think. In the cafe next to it (which is part of the whole thing) you have a more modern church for when it is too cold in the winter and they have a couple of smaller things laying around which you can look at. Here you can also buy tickets so you can listen to a guide who tells you more about the church, especially it's history. It costs 100 NOK, takes only a few minutes and the guide has a level of enthusiasm akin to a teenager holding a PowerPoint presentation. Definitely worth a visit, but the presentation is very optional.

Bø Sommerland

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Artificial wave surfer at outdoor water park complex with huge slides & tube rides. Open in summer.
The park was way bigger than I expected and the queues were not too long. There are a lot of different slides of different intensity. There were not so many people on the extreme ones because it was mainly families there with younger kids. The rides are very well supervised and they are strict with height, weight and age requirements to go on each ride, which I felt is good for safety. The age limit for kids to go in the park alone is 14! I felt that is too high… should be 12. But maybe if it’s a group of 12 year olds, they could cause trouble. I have a big 12 year old and a 16 year old but I still had to go in the park with them. In the end, it was ok… they enjoyed the extreme rides and I enjoyed the many places to sunbathe and paddle in the water. The location of the park is fantastic! You really feel it must be a mistake when you see google maps telling you that it’s 2 minutes away…. You are just on this road to nowhere with only forest around, then suddenly… there it is! I have never been to that area before…. The scenery is incredible during the drive- some huge pointy mountains around there! So typical of Norway to build a massive theme park literally in the middle of nowhere with nothing else around…. Keep it for Norwegians and keep the tourists away, lol. That’s fine by me… even though I’m not Norwegian, we were glad to take the trip into the wilderness and glad there were not so many hundreds of others there! Highly recommend a trip here!
Barbara E — Google review
It's a nice place! But you have to be lucky to go there in a sunny day. If it's not sunny you might be cold all the time just like me... The water is not cold (not warm either) but the problem is when you leave the water. If the sun is not there to warm you up you will be cold. Unfortunately (for some people) the Norwegian summer by itself is not sufficient to warm one without the sun.
Marcio R — Google review
Such a cool place to visit. A water park in the middle of the forest. 😁 There are ok food options, a lot of cool slides for all ages and tastes. Very nice.
May B — Google review
The water is not clean at all, the park is overcrowded, they just let people in and do not care what you are going to experience, they just want to make money out of you, shower is not enough for that crowd, no healthy food option available at all, sugar rush all over the park! amusement options are very good, but still people have to wait in very long ques for those good ones. I do NOT recommend if you have kids with you, my kids rather go to our local seeming pool, they have much more fun there without exposing to lot of sugary junks! I think the reason that many people go there is that there are not many competitors for such an amusement park in Norway!
Mehrdad D — Google review
We (family of 4 from UK) had a brilliant time here. We visited on Tues 12th Aug. There are so many slides! Waiting time was 0 to 10 minutes. We got there for 10am but there was still not much waiting later on. Plenty of space for chilling out. It did also help that the weather was great. Didn't think the price for food was too bad but you can also take your own too. The setting in the forest was beautiful. I thought the slide attendants were very attentive too. We thought it was well worth it. Edit: Either we were far too excited to get in or it wasn't clear as we can't read Norwegian but didn't realise you had to pay for parking and ended up getting a big fee from our car hire company when we returned home. Come on Bo Sommerland, what's all that about?! Is the entrance fee not enough? Anyway, still keeping 5 stars as we had a brill time.
Ryan K — Google review
Wasps EVERYWHERE, an hour in line for a 30sec ride. Poor wheelchair accessibility. No food available until midday despite having paid a fortune for all inclusive food tickets. Staff couldn't answer most questions, were unfriendly and acted like they'd never experience joy again. Awful experience for the price of more than $300 for 5 people
Echtoplasma E — Google review
The amount of people there is crazy. If you want to enjoy this place, you need to be ready to wait one hour in the line to every single one attraction. Same with toilets. 45 minutes waiting on the line to make pee is insane 🥺

The Gaustabanen is a remarkable cable car that takes visitors deep into the heart of Gausta mountain before climbing 1040m at a steep angle alongside 3500 steps to reach an elevation of 1800m, just shy of the summit. Originally constructed by NATO in 1958 for $1 million, it was designed to provide all-weather access to its radio tower.
Great to be at the top, worth the 1 1/2 hour in line to catch the train up to the top. Walked back down. Some waiting time during high season. Easter and Summer Holidays. On a clear day you can see 1/6 of Norway, and all the way to Sweden. Nice views. Recommend purchasing tickets online to save some on the ticket price. 530 NOK for adult and 300 NOK for child 4-16 if bying at the kiosk. A bit cheaper bying online.
Arnstein E — Google review
Super nice view one of the tops,, the tickets are super expensive: You can take the train up, and walk down but never do it in winter without proper shoes, They dont tell you while buying a ticket so that you will need to buy a new ticket from top to down, So if you want to take the train down as well than buy a 2 - way ticket. If you want to walk all the way up then i recommend walking up from the other parking since its less steeper than from here. We took the train up and It took us about 1.5 hours to only get down as we are used to hiking, it usally takes 2-3 hours up/down
Sandesh A — Google review
Very nice view (if clear) on the surroundings. Have a delicious waffle on top 😀
Lore S — Google review
Worst thing I tried in Norway by far.. no info about that you have to wait for an hour and half in fridge temp to get down again with the train. Nice view but walk. And when you get down and ask why there’s is no info about the wait time no meet by the worst people possible. A big scam
Andreas G — Google review
Death defiying ride on a little train into the mountain, then changing to an almost vertical funicular to the top. We were told you could see for miles around d on a clear day, check the weather before you go!!
Colin M — Google review
This was an amazing opportunity for me as a disabled person. You can catch a train up and inside the mountain which is a fun and exciting experience on it's own. This gives you a chance to experience the amazing view of so much of Norway from the top of the mountain. Which I otherwise would not have been able to experience. There is also a very good waffle house up there too.
Karla ( — Google review
For those who doesn’t want to hike up to the top, this is an alternative way. Easier and faster. You must book tickets in advance and remember that they are closing earlier than usual if there’s no tourist. So its better to book in advance.
Meriam D — Google review
Awesome and unique experience to enjoy a train inside the mountain which goes 850m inside straight into the mountain and then 1030m (vertical) to the top of the mountain. Takes 15min to reach to the top point and you can enjoy hot waffles in the cafe there. Do check the weather before you go there as it can change rapidly.

Mountains
Gaustatoppen is a scenic peak offering panoramic views and featuring a mountainside cafe. The new restaurant at Gvepseborg will be located 880 meters above sea level with stunning views of Gaustatoppen and Vestfjorddalen. It's suitable for hikers of all levels, including beginners, but proper attire and good support shoes are recommended due to the rocky terrain.
I love all of that region with the alpine view and beautiful lakes, even though it s a lot of cold, and wind! Dress accordingly for the mountains no matter of the season!

Loved everything about it. We took the tram up and hiked down. The hike can be challenging if you have problems with ankles
Jon H — Google review
Fascinating location! We went in the middle of July and had a big cloud on top of the mountain. Down on the campsite it was warm whereas on the mountain it was cold, so take something warm with you. Also the way up is quite difficult. You definitely need some good hiking shoes since it’s mostly stone on the way. On the way back we decided to take the little train back down which we highly recommend! The story is very interesting and sitting inside is even better. Though you need to walk back to the other parking spot (Gaustaban to Stavsro), depending where you parked. There are at least two hiking routes, the one from the train is quite steep. We choose the other one. Overall great experience!
Torsten S — Google review
Beautiful hike! We took about just over 2 hours going up, spent an hour at the top and 2 hours down due to the rocky terrain. The hike is not so hard, steep at times but doable. It is very rocky though so it is advised to wear sensible shoes, maybe have some hiking poles and be aware of it before bringing kids or older people. We went on a Friday and it was quite busy. Free parking alongside the road. Cute cafes at the top of the peak with decent prices

A must in Norway, great experience.Stayed the night snowing and strong winds, but still fantastic service better than any 4star hotel 👍
Pierre R — Google review
Free parking, no fee Approximately 2 hours (one way) After reaching the top you can go further, but it’s quite difficult part with rocks. It took us about 1,5 hour more round way to get the highest top. It’s beautiful view on the northern part on Norway.

This is a good place for everyone ,the beginner hikers are ok for walk and not that much difficult.⛰️🏕🌙🇳🇴💕 ✅️I have seen a lot of kids ,older people , walk all the way. ⚠️Prepared not too thick shirt and good shoes become Round trip almost 10 km. ,recommend having good support shoes because you walk on the rock it can cause of hurt feet. ⚠️Some parts have a little bit of snow , which can be slipped, but it's fine. 🧇🥞On the top of the destination, have a small shop ,serve pancakes, waffles, hot coffee, and juice. Recommend come with family , you will be have a great trip together ❤️ Cr : TravelWithIrene

We climbed this in mid-May starting around 8:00 AM. It's a beautiful hike up, especially during the snowy season. While it's obvious, it is not a place to get caught without the right gear, so be sure to have poles with snow baskets, correct attire, and either snowshoes or skis. We didn't have the latter and ended up post-holing about 20% of the time, especially toward the summit. The ridge out to the true summit is a bit precarious, and one needs to watch their footing carefully to avoid an unpleasant ride.

Impressive, very impressive area!! We were lucky: sun was out, the kids had the times of their life. It was basically a natural water slide area.

Nature water park. Interesting to see how it looks also would be fun to be here in some got summer day.
Remigiusz N — Google review
So beautiful! Fun, spacious. Natural water park. Parked near by. Definitely recommend. Worth every penny.. People complain about the parking and road fees. Don't understand. Privately maintained road, and the price is like parking for an hour in any big city, or water park. Good value for money.
Magnus D — Google review
The parking cost was 200 Kr (20 eur) we started at the north east parking lot (newly built) The old road is blocked because it is private propery and no longer accessible. The path started underneath the wooden bridge thing, and we followed the waterside all the way. Wonderful place, the hike took us 2.5 hours in total (to go and the return) including taking lots of photo's and a break near the giants kettle. I would say the hike is 1 hour and 15 minutes to go and 45 minutes to return. Halfway there is not really a path anymore and the rocks are big and sometimes with loose gravel, makes it quite dangerous, i wouldnt recommend this with small dogs or young kids. Once you arrive the view is wonderful and you can even get near the pools, but watch out, it can be very very slippery. Always wear good shoes and take water with you.

Lovely place! Would come in early as it gets packed so fast. BEWARE of the wasp nest above the toilet at the carpark.

The Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum is located 7km west of Rjukan, inside the Vemork power station. Initially the world's largest when completed in 1911, it now pays tribute to the Socialist Workers' Party and its peak activities in the 1950s. The museum features an intriguing exhibition on the race to develop an atom bomb during the 1930s and '40s, as well as a remarkable miniature power station in its main hall.
Interesting power plant with lots of history! And of course the famous stories about the sabotage actions during WW2! Worth a visit when you are around! Nice guide tours in English and multiple exhibitions about the construction, usage and sabotage.
Tjeerd V — Google review
Stopped in the gorgeous town for a little window shopping and a break. On my way out on the heavy serpentine saw this interesting power station. Seen some of them with those scary pipes in my youth in West Virginia under construction and I stopped for a photo. I knew that must be a piece of my beloved Norway's hydropower history. Way to go Vikings, go and get even richer on free hydro power electricity! I envy you so much, all Norwegians, I wish I could've been born in your wonderland! God bless you all!

Parked and followed one of the trails from the centre which turned out to be ideal, we wanted a couple of hours without anything too energetic. Really peaceful, only saw a few people walking and really great views and nature. Passed we stopped, could have stayed but decided to move in with renewed energy

Great hikes, also for families. 2.2, 8 and 12.4KM round-trips. Not suitable for baby buggies. The staff at the center are very friendly and helpful. Definitely a recommendation.

Hello from USA! 🇺🇸 This place is absolutely wonderful to visit. Both children and adults can learn about the history of reindeer, the park's geography, and enjoy a lovely Cafe with a lovely view. The man at the front desk was very knowledgeable and you can tell that he is really passionate about this place. There are also many hiking trails that start in the parking lot. Just remember to be prepared. The weather here changes very quickly, so make sure you have proper rain jackets to stay warm. Ps. They also have a VR documentary where you put on goggles and take a "walk" through the park. Innovative and informational. I will be returning (hopefully next summer) with my family to show them this beautiful place!

Nice skiing resort, especially for #crosscountry. Some slopes are also quite nice, small compared to austrian alps. Not all slopes were opened jet, which led to waiting times of 15min at the elevators.
Klaus S — Google review
Hovden alpine skiing is a top notch place to learn your kids to ski. Area is beautiful and the slopes are easy, they have a free of charge conveyor belt for the beginners and a good variety of other slopes. We spend 2 weeks here with our 6 year old kids. They don't charge the kids for the lifts before they turn 7 year old, but remember Norway is expensive and money fly fast in every way. Maintenence cost, high salaries ect drives everything up to the extreme so be aware although the NOK is weak these days. Due to Covid19 we choose to only spend Monday to Friday there in both weeks (outside normal holiday weeks) and more or less had the place to ourselves which was super. The chair lift was the main thing open which gave a nice (and long for Norwegian standards) ride down to the bottom. We got lucky with the weather as things can get uncomfortable cold in Norway so bring the right equipment and check often on your kids (we had minus 25 first week). The rental service crew are nice and helpful along with the other staff. 🙏 As a family traveling with smaller kids I can highly recommend Hovden 🎿 For 5 stars I would have wished more slopes to be open, but it's of course understandable to limit it due to weather and lack of guests. We will probably go back! 👏🏼

Large ski resort, button lifts, t-bars and chair lift. Range of pistes, caters for all abilities. Knowledgeable and patient instructors. Bar and pizza place (OffPiste) warm and comfortable. Fairly pricey (but no worse than other resorts in Norway). Parking on site (chargeable). Lockers for ski equipment (chargeable).
Lynsey M — Google review
Pretty cool ski resort, but over half of the resort was closed (Most of the reds to the left) but this might be due to weather or it being early in the season.

Hardangervidda National Park, situated in Odda, Norway, is a top attraction offering a diverse range of activities and breathtaking sights. The vast plateau, abundant flora and fauna, stunning waterfalls make it a paradise for hikers, bird watchers, and wildlife photographers. Accessible only by foot or bike, the park features marked trails for cycling and walking as well as opportunities for climbing and fishing.
rougher than the region of telemark, more alpine - great colours in autumn - photographers' delight
Christian H — Google review
Hardangervidda National Park is the largest national park in Norway, covering 3,422 square kilometers across Hordaland, Viken, and Telemark counties. Established in 1981, it spans the vast Hardangervidda mountain plateau—often called Norway’s “rooftop”—featuring dramatic alpine scenery, moorlands, rivers, and glaciers. --- Landscape & Nature The park’s terrain includes wide plateaus, deep valleys, lakes, and glacier-fed rivers. The western section is rugged and wet, while the eastern side is flatter and drier. This variation supports a mix of alpine and Arctic ecosystems, including hardy tundra vegetation and high-altitude flora. --- Wildlife Hardangervidda hosts Europe’s largest population of wild reindeer, which roam freely across the plateau. Other notable wildlife includes moose, Arctic foxes, wolverines, and many bird species like the snowy owl and ptarmigan. --- Outdoor Activities Hiking & Trekking: A vast network of marked trails is ideal for both short walks and multi-day treks. The Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) maintains cabins across the park. Fishing: The numerous lakes and rivers offer excellent trout fishing opportunities. Winter Sports: In winter, the park becomes a cross-country skiing paradise, with maintained routes and cozy lodges. Cycling: Some areas are accessible by mountain bike, offering scenic and less-traveled routes. --- Visitor Centers & Access Hardangervidda Natursenter (Øvre Eidfjord) and Hardangervidda Nasjonalparksenter (Skinnarbu) These centers provide interactive exhibits on the park’s geology, wildlife, climate, and Sami culture. Access is easy via main roads like Route 7 and the Bergen Line railway, connecting the park with Oslo and Bergen. --- Weather & Conditions (May 26, 2025) Current weather is light rain with temperatures around 2°C. Wet snow is expected in the morning, clearing later in the day. Visitors should dress in layers, carry waterproof gear, and check safety updates before setting out.

My first trek in Scandinavia and i will always remember it. Be sure to take the trails appropriate to the time of the year you visit or you might end up having to do crazy thing to manage to get across some portions, be sure to have a beacon or locator app on your smartphone if you do like we did and go about the way you want even if it's not exactly the appropriate time of the year for the trail you're doing.

Stunning scenery. Great walks. We did the 4 waterfalls hike starting at the car park near the Go Karting track. Easy red way marks and signs help show you the way. Røldal Stave Church, located in the charming village of Røldal, Norway, is a historical gem dating back to the 13th century. Surrounded by stunning natural landscapes including majestic mountains and cascading waterfalls, it offers a picturesque setting for visitors.

A small old church, well preserved. A tourist attraction with an entrance fee a bit higher than expected. But when you think in maintenance, it has to be like that.
Arne B — Google review
Cool historic church but first time in my life that I have seen an entrance fee to a church. Have to pay 80 nok to enter. Ridiculous and offensive. It is a place of worship that is supported by government tax, why does anyone need to pay to enter.
Fikrat A — Google review
Beautiful outside, entrance fee was to steep for me to go in.
Wesley P — Google review
Went out of our way to stop here on purpose. The stavkirka looks as unrealistic in real life as it does on the photo. We didn't go inside the museum, just watched from the outside. The town itself is very quiet, peaceful and atmospheric. There are car chargers and a large grocery store nearby, which is very convenient for a stopover.
Jean — Google review
The church looks beautiful from the outside and, based on the pictures I’ve seen, the interior seems really nice as well. However, we visited as a family, and with the price being 80 NOK per person (240 NOK for us), it felt a bit too expensive, so we decided not to go inside. I also overheard several other visitors saying the same. Maybe offering a lower family ticket or donation-based entry could encourage more people to explore the inside and learn about the church’s history.
Katja R — Google review
This is well worth a visit on your way through the mountains. Situated near a good cafe and camp ground the old church is very pretty and really gives you a good sense of the architecture from an older time, it’s interesting for those that enjoy this sort of thing.

Trolltunga is a stunning rocky outcrop that juts out high above a lake, accessible via a challenging 27km hiking trail. The surrounding area boasts snow-capped mountains, magnificent glaciers, and breathtaking waterfalls cascading into the fjords. Visitors can also explore the Flåm Railway and Nærøyfjord, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. This region is rich in natural beauty and history, with remnants of Norway's industrial revolution and hydropower capabilities.
Absolutely amazing and gorgeous 😍 place. You can get there from parking 2 basically. Then take a shuttle bus, climb all the way along the trail or.. use via ferrata! This is in my opinion the best idea if you have enough courage to do it and are fit enough. It will shorten the whole journey significantly and give you more time to enjoy the top. The typical trail up and down is a whole day trip and pretty hard, so really be prepared for the weather. Whole experience is truly amazing and wonderful. Go for it!!!
Adrian W — Google review
The hike to Trolltunga is stunning, and so is the Trolltunga view point. I will give you my advice for coming to Trolltunga. I arrived at P2 at 6:30 and I came early to make sure to have a parking spot. When I returned to the parking at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon there were still available spaces. I must add that the hiking trail today didn't feel very busy. The waiting time at the view point was 5 minutes at 10:30 in the morning. How did I hike? From P2 I walked all the way and didn't take the shuttle bus. The road up there (same one as the shuttle bus drives) is about 2,5km and very steep. When you walk passed the shuttle bus stop on the mountain the first 2km of the trail are also steep. It's s path builed out of large rocks that form a stairway. Don't understand it, this is the hardest part of the hike. After that the trail will remain relatively flat all the way to Trolltunga. The trail is well maintained from beginning to the end, it's pretty much impossible to get lost. Just follow the metal poles and red marks "T". From P2 to Trolltunga and back without a shuttle bus is a ~26km round trip. The views along the way are gorgeous and spectacular!
Lars V — Google review
1. Planning to park at P3? Book parking slot in advance! I’m talking really in advance — we tried 10 days before our hike and every single spot was already taken. 2. The shuttle from P2 to P3 is a lifesaver. Honestly, it saved us both time and energy for the Trolltunga hike itself (ours took 3 hours up and 3 hours 5 minutes back). You can buy shuttle tickets online for the ride up. The ride down is paid on the spot after you arrive back (possible by card). 3. Think twice before bringing kids. We have two — 14 and 10 years old, both super active — but we left them at home. Best decision ever. 4. A summer rain jacket is non-negotiable. In August, the weather changed 10 times an hour — heavy rain, freezing wind, bright sun, repeat. Rocks get slippery, so sturdy hiking boots are a must, preferably fully waterproof. If it’s windy and raining, water will get everywhere, no matter what. 5. Layers are your best friend. With the weather changing so quickly, you can go from hot to freezing in minutes — and you’ll definitely feel the difference. Bottom line: exhausting, unpredictable… and 100% worth it. Enjoy every minute!
Viktorie K — Google review
Trolltunga is absolutely breathtaking! The hike is challenging—long and steep in parts—but every step is worth it for the views at the top. The cliff itself is incredible for photos and the surrounding fjords are stunning. Make sure to bring proper hiking gear, food, and water. Truly one of Norway’s most iconic and Instagram-worthy spots!
Ter N — Google review
The hike was easy for me, been here twice in 3 years, unfortunately the shuttle bus for 2 section is getting pricey. Take sufficient water and queue for the line and enjoy the view.
Dennis Z — Google review
Rather boring hike on a cloudy day and impressive queue to make a picture. We enjoyed the picnic behind the rock, such a cosy spot, you don’t see and hear the crowd. A bit overhyped, I wouldn’t do it again.
Anna C — Google review
Beautiful hike with incredible scenery all along: turquoise lakes, glacier and huge rocks. The Trolltunga is very impressive as well. Be aware on a good day there is a big queue to take pictures on the rock.
Andrei A — Google review
Hands down, one of the most scenic and picturesque places I’ve seen. It cannot be described and photos don’t do this place justice, but let’s say it’s worth every step of those 27.5 km. We parked at P2 and started our hike at 8:15. Beware, because if there is a bus coming down, you might have to park at P1 and wait there a while until they tell you you can continue, so plan this possible delay too. The first leg is definitely one of the hardest (if not the hardest) and there are two more sections along the way which might be a bit more challenging for a semi-experienced hiker. You can fill water from the streams from the first shelter onwards which is around half way to Trolltunga. We took a lot of photos, made short detours, and had two longer breaks around lakes, so it took us around 6 hours to get there. The line for taking pictures between 1 and 3pm on week days is between 30-40 minutes, although if you don’t insist on having your pictures taken on Trolltunga itself or you are in a rush, there is a smaller and similar looking rock just behind it and there might be no line for it at all. We did take pictures on both rocks. The descent took us a little over 4 hours as we kept a steady and somewhat brisk pace all the way down. Again, if you are in Norway and you are in a good enough physical condition, don’t think of skipping Trolltunga - it will be one of the most amazing natural sights you’ve ever seen!

Tveitafossen is the first of four magnificent waterfalls along the Kinso River, each showcasing nature's raw power. This stunning spot is easily accessible and offers a breathtaking view right next to a power station. The hike to Tveitafossen can be challenging but rewarding, especially for those who venture further to see all four waterfalls: Nyastolfossen, Nykkjesoyfossen, and the grand finale at Sotefossen.
Beautiful hike. Not easy but doable for all kinds of people. The waterfalls are worth it.

This is the first waterfall you'll come across if you're doing the hike to see all four which is what we did. Easy to get to but still impressive next to the power station. I recommend getting to the second one if you can but it's a steep climb!

I visited this place with my dog. We walked on the hiking route all the way to the top and had a nice dip in the waterfall before heading down. On the way down i noticed there is another route which is a road with gravel. Such a nice surprice, as the route we took up was very exausting with a dog on your shoulder :-) I recomment you to take both routes, in which order is for you to decide. There is a big difference between the routes and how you watch the river from them and i wouldn't like to miss any of them!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful! The Husedalen hike starts in the town of Kinsarvik, in the western fjords area. From Bergen it is about a 2-hour drive. The walk starts easily, on a paved road. Until the first waterfall, Tveitafossen. That is about a 30 minute walk. Then the real hiking begins. The path becomes steeper and more difficult. But it's worth it 🙂. (Original) Prachtig!

We continue past the waterworks along the pipe. (Original) Leicht erreichbarer Wasserfall. Er befindet sich direkt neben dem Wasserwerk. Imposanter sind dann die folgenden Wasserfälle auf der Route. (Translated by Google) Very nice, large waterfall. The first of four in the Husedalen valley after about a 30-minute walk from the parking lot at the go-kart track. The next ones are definitely worth seeing, although the approach to them is a bit more difficult. The entire route to the four waterfalls takes about 4 hours of leisurely walking there and back. Cała trasa do czterech wodospadów to ok. 4 h spokojnego marszu tam i z powrotem.

(Translated by Google) This trip is absolutely fantastic, but somewhat demanding. From the first waterfall you can go further, either by road or by path. We recommend taking the road until you see the signs from DNT (marked T) towards stavali tourist cabin. Then you get the best way along the waterfalls and rivers. Remember to take several breaks on the worst slopes and drink plenty of water from the river. Went on the trip with small children aged 5 and 7, and it went well, but could have been a little better marked with distance signs and generally better marking. Otherwise, the trip was completely adventurous! It is fine to camp between the second and third waterfalls. Just before the third waterfall, there is also a WC that you can use.

This is one of the recommended place if you have kids. Its big enough to explore for entire day. Many activities for kids. Nice and well maintained bathrooms. Good resturants. A bit expenisive though. Swimming pool experience is the best. And kids train, painting, slides etc were great. Amazing experince for kids and family. Has a nice and big parking place. Beautiful views from the park.

Amazing place for kids. My kids loved it and want to go back soon 😻
Suzy F — Google review
It’s a fun place for kids 2-13. Older kids might enjoy it, depending on their own definition of being “cool”, or how good siblings they are. Recommends bringing food and drinks, if you’re in a budget, but food and drinks are available throughout. Recommend bathing/swimming before 12, as the water is warmer and there is less people.
Endre R — Google review
We spend there the whole day, it's amazing place, so much to do! Non stop fun for younger kids! They will not know where to go first! Only minus would be that There's missing something for teen kids! The deepest pool is 110cm, and not allowed to jump! So all together it's dream for kids, boring for older kids!
Tea S — Google review
Very fun play park for young children (under 10). There’s a playground, a small water park area, and an indoor jungle gym. The food isn’t the best (except the French fries which are delicious) but you can bring in your own and there’s even grills available for use if you bring your own hot dogs and such. It is a bit pricey but so worth the smiles on the kids’ faces after a trip there!
Shadai S — Google review
Very nice for the kids to make them happy, busy and playing and swimming. On the same time adults can relax. Because kids don't get boring, just so many activities
Jūratė V — Google review
Good park with many activities for kids. Facilities need upgrades to today’s standards. Fishing possibilities
Fazel K — Google review
Nice amusement park for children 2-12. Lots of aktivities, swimming pool, climbing park, play ground etc. 4-6 hours is enough to complete all activities, of course you can spend all day in park. You should buy ticket before 7-15 days before to secure your place in summer but DO NOT Give Up, if all tickets are booked, it is generally possible to buy ticket after 12.00 or 13.00, you should go to mikkelpark camping reception center to ask if there is empty place. If you hungry there are some cafe and fast food restaurant. (Grill plate 180 Accomandation: There are some hotels and camping place close to the park. Mikkelpark has own camping place. I can also advise kinsarvik camping.

Nestled in the stunning Hardanger region, Låtefossen Waterfall is a breathtaking natural wonder that captivates visitors with its twin streams cascading from Lake Lotevatnet. As these two powerful waterfalls converge beneath a charming 150-year-old stone bridge, they create an awe-inspiring sight that draws tourists and hikers alike. Just a short drive from Odda, this magnificent waterfall showcases the raw beauty of Norway's landscapes.
One of the beautiful place to visit, Låtefoss is full of nature's beauty. There are 3 different waterfalls there, two of them are just side by side. A rich of waterfalls. There is a kiosk just beside if two waterfalls and parking spot is there too. You can buy souvenirs and snacks and coffee. The whole area is a beautiful place and much more peaceful. A must visit place in Norway.
Maqsood A — Google review
For the best view, walk down the right side of the parking lot, opposite the falls. You’ll get a nice view with the stone bridge. If you’re on the bride, it’s difficult to get both falls together because they spread apart.
Kiara — Google review
Another unique and beautiful waterfall in Norway. There is a small kiosk beside it for souvenirs as well. Just have to be careful as their isn't that much parking and the road to cross to get to the falls and back is narrow and bust with cars.
Jehangir S — Google review
Fantastic free spot to see the waterfalls. Parking is an absolute nightmare so you're better off parking up or down the road and walking.
Jamie M — Google review
Extraordinary sight. It's a must see and worth every détour. You can feel the power and might of the waterfall while getting very close to it.

A hidden gem you will missed if you don’t google it. Happens to past by and we stop to see the magnificent water fall. Worth your stop for pictures.

We visited in early zseptember just after heavy rains so the falls were spectacular. Very popular tourist place.
Sheila R — Google review
Låtefossen is a dramatic twin waterfall located in the Oddadalen valley near Odda, in Vestland County, western Norway. Standing at 165 meters tall, it's famous for its unique formation—two separate streams from Lake Lotevatnet join midway down a steep cliff, creating a thunderous cascade that flows under a historic stone bridge on National Road 13. --- Highlights Twin Cascades: The waterfall's twin streams originate from the same lake but descend side by side before merging—an incredibly rare and photogenic natural feature. Historic Bridge: A beautiful six-arched stone bridge, built between 1867 and 1869, sits directly under the falls. As cars drive across, they’re sprayed with mist from the waterfall. Scenic Drive: Located along National Road 13, the route through Oddadalen (often called "the valley of waterfalls") features several stunning waterfalls within a short stretch. Accessibility: Låtefossen is roadside and requires no hiking, making it perfect for a quick scenic stop with parking available nearby. --- Best Time to Visit Summer (June–August) is ideal when snowmelt boosts the waterfall’s volume, and roads are clear. Spring also offers dramatic flow but can come with more unpredictable weather. --- Getting There By Car: Located about 15 km south of Odda along National Road 13. It's well signposted and easily reachable. By Public Transport: While buses run to Odda, a car is best to access Låtefossen and other nearby waterfalls. --- Current Weather (May 26, 2025) The area is experiencing light rain with temperatures around 13°C (55°F). Waterproof clothing and care while driving on wet roads are recommended.

Buarbreen, located in the Folgefonna National Park near Odda, offers a picturesque and challenging hike. The trail features diverse terrain including mountains, glaciers, forests, streams, and waterfalls. Hikers must navigate steep and rocky sections with ropes and ladders while also crossing muddy areas. Despite the challenging terrain, the hike is manageable for those in good shape. The stunning views of waterfalls amidst glaciers and fjords make this an unforgettable experience.
The hike tool around 3 hours with a few breaks, it is a beautiful hike, the views are amazing. There are a lot of bridges to get over the beautiful brooks. There are ropes to climb ul the rocks. The hike is a lot of climbing with around 400 meter ascent. The way down goes a bit faster but it is the same route. You can take a detour at the last 10 min.
Finn B — Google review
Nice hike all the way to the base of the gletcher, at the top it was a bit tricky, we had to jump from boulder to boulder to cross the waterfalls. But the reward was at the top. Awesome view there!
Arjen — Google review
The views are stunning! We managed to reach the top with our dog, but I wouldn’t recommend it for small children or small dogs. In some places, you need to use chains to climb up. The glacier can only be accessed with a guide—otherwise, you can just see it from fairly close once you reach the top. It took us about 3 hours with short breaks in both ways.
Austė K — Google review
This hike is Crazy!! You will see a little jungle in the middle of glaciers and fjords. You can start your hike in the near of Odda (8km from the city center) as a cool-down the day after Trolltunga. The views are tremendous. The waterfalls going wild these days and you will cross many of them on the way to the top. We had 500m of ascent and in total 10km back and forth. At the parking you have to pay 185NOK for the day. At the entrance of the hiking trail you will face horses and cows in their habitat. Just make sure you bring water resistant shoes and a bottle of water, that could be refilled on the entire way to and on the glacier.
Niklas — Google review
A really interesting and fun walk, lush green to start with a rocky trail then some slightly more challenging sections with ropes (these are a little trickier on the way down) and clambering but this makes it go quick. Some great spots for a snack break with views and a very cool end to see the bottom of the Glacier pretttyyy close! Highly recommend but you should be confident on your feet for the latter half.
Hannah W — Google review
From the parking lot you get your first glimpse of the glacier. Parking cost 150NOK a day and you pay by credit card when leaving. From the parking lot you follow a marked path. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful scenery, the walk is as much of the event as the glacier itself. The trip is close to 3 km one way, and with normal walking speed you will use 3-4 hours in total. Most of the time you walk on rocks and boulders and there are also some parts where you need to use the fixed ropes to climb or rappel. No climbing experience or equipment is needed, but you would benefit from having good leg and arm strength. Good hiking shoes are required, and don't forget to bring warm clothes as you end up 650 meters higher than you started and cold winds from the glacier pours down the valley. You won’t be able to walk on the glacier itself as a meltwater river stream at the base blocks your way. Enjoy!
Arn P — Google review
The hike was great, going up the rocky path, including several places where you have to use ropes/chains. However, it is not too difficult. It looks rather steep from below, but despite some harder spots the hike was totally ok and the glacier was actually closer than it appeared from the valley.
Zuzana H — Google review
One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done (and I live in Switzerland where we have so many stunning hikes). This hike doesn’t take long, less than 3 hours if you’re in good shape, and the variety of terrain you see - mountains, glacier, forest, streams, waterfalls - is spectacular. The trail is rocky and steep in parts, requiring use of ropes and ladders to scramble up some of the slopes. You also have to cross a few muddy, wet areas, so be sure to wear good hiking shoes. Enjoy!

Nestled in the stunning Hardangerfjord region, Svandalsfossen is a breathtaking waterfall that boasts an impressive drop of 180 meters. As you travel along Fv. 520, you'll find convenient parking that allows you to embark on a short hike under a newly constructed bridge and stairway system, which was completed in 2006 as part of Norway's National Tourist Road Project.
Here is another breathtaking waterfall that you should not miss off the Scenic Route 520. In fact, you only see half of it off the road. To appreciate its beauty, you should hike up. The trail is well maintained with steel stairs. The rusty red of the stair has good contrast out off the surroundings. Nice and easy hike, you will see the full waterfall. Very very beautiful!

Svandalsfossen has a fall of 180 meters in total. By Fv. 520 you can park and walk under the bridge to really experience the waterfall close up. In 2006 an impressive bridge and stairway system was opened under the auspices of the Norwegian Road Directorate's National Tourist Road Project. The stairs are steep and lead up to the foot of the upper waterfall, where you will be rewarded with a fresh shower.

Langfossen is a magnificent waterfall located in a picturesque mountainous setting. With a total drop of 600 meters, it has been recognized as one of the top 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world by CNN. The waterfall cascades from 600 meters above sea level to around 50 meters, offering breathtaking views of the fjord. Visitors can easily access Langfossen by road and are recommended to make a stop to admire its powerful flow and stunning surroundings.
Norway has massive waterfalls, and Langfossen is quite an exquisite show. EXTREMELY GORGEOUS. Moreover, the mountainous landscape spices up the awe of sighting the whole feature. The falls, though! It breathtakes.

Definitely it is one of the spectacular waterfalls I have seen In Norway or other countries. A must see place on the was to Haugesund to Oslo. It has a stunning view. The water falls from such heights that for some moments you just can’t move and keep watching the fall of water. There is also a small hike trek if some have time to explore that more, highly recommend.

Langfossen is truly one of Norway’s most breathtaking natural wonders. The sheer power and beauty of the cascading waterfall are mesmerizing. The way it tumbles down the mountainside, surrounded by lush greenery, creates a spectacular scene that feels almost unreal. The viewpoint along the road offers an incredible photo opportunity, and if you have time, stopping for a closer look is well worth it. The sound of the rushing water, the fresh mountain air, and the stunning scenery all around make this a perfect stop on any road trip in western Norway. A must-see for nature lovers — Langfossen captures the raw beauty of Norway at its finest.

Visitors can enjoy alpine skiing for all ages, a freestyle park, cross-country tracks, and snowshoe hikes.
I was here yesterday with my tour group and we were allowed to do an unforgettable tour with our guide Emma from the Folgefonni Glacier Team. It was exhausting but also really cool and a lot of fun! We learned a lot about the glacier and were allowed to enjoy the beautiful landscape! Thank you, dear Emma!

We came to Folgefonna from Oslo, a mixed group of 10 Erasmus students in their early 20s. Jonas - our guide was great and made the whole day an unforgettable experience! The personal approach and the trip tailored to the groups abilities and wants was much appreciated. Throughout the whole journey everyone felt safe thanks to the well organisation and equipment provided by the whole Folgefonni Glacier Team. Additionally to that, the extra equipment Jonas had on him - e.g. Ice screws contributed to extra safety in some advanced sections he took us to. The quick and helpful communication by Åsmund, prior to the trip ensured everything was clear and everyone came prepared. This was a 5***** experience and recommend it to everyone! Even if going in smaller group I would 100% say it would be worth the extra price!
Kamill — Google review
The Glacier Walk is moderate to difficult in places depending on your fitness level. Some in our group found the walk strenuous. Overall, the trek is strenuous in only the beginning and some sections of climbing. Depending on the snowfall, you may not see much of the glacier, but the views on the region and history the guides share make the trip worth it. There will be 1 hour of preparation and instruction. The guides are very professional. I would rate them among the best guides I have encountered in my travels. The trek is 5 hours.
RH E — Google review
A glimpse of Glory of the past. The center is worn out, closed and what it left is detoriating. There is rust ly equipment and trash everywhere. Norway unworthy, but the views are epic, that much remains unchanged.
Sander P — Google review
Great experience, really like that they have a few guides, so they split between easy, medium and difficult groups and we can choose which group to go with. I had a minor knee issue so was concerned if it’s going to be too strenuous but didn’t want to miss out on the trip. We went with the easy group and got to see and experience what we came here for without stressing my knee with a super long hike. Excellent!

I did the Blue Ice Hike a 4 hour excursion over the Fonna Glacier lead by our wonderful Tour guide Karl. It was medium intensity hike with some big uphills but we were slow and steady. It was intense weather, wind and rain, but that’s why we have glaciers! I absolutely recommend this hike to anyone looking to get outside and do some easy glacier hiking! The staff and guides were all wonderful, helpful and made us all feel very safe! Enjoy!

We had the greatest time ever! The staff are very professional in taking care of everything from safety to instructions and pure pleasure. They take extra attention to kids. Even if you're not a hotel guest, you’re warmly welcome to stop by and enjoy the atmosphere.

Very fun rafting experience. Our guide was very friendly. The company is run like a well oiled machine. Getting instructions and gear was done efficiently. Having a wet suit provided was a necessity with the cold water temperatures. This was my first experience rafting with a company that's done a swim test. It did seem a little odd that the swim test was done after going down the river 10-15 minutes. However, I appreciate that the safety of participants was taken seriously. Overall, great company and staff.

Barony Rosendal Manor House

Barony Rosendal offers simple yet charming rooms with complimentary breakfast in a quaint hotel located on the grounds of a stately manor. The estate features serene, lush gardens with numerous paths connecting the main noble villa and the rest of the property, all set against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Visitors can enjoy an exquisite kitchen with a small but excellent menu and friendly staff. The Barony also boasts beautiful gardens, parks, and a guided tour of the historic castle.
This was so much more than I anticipated. The size of the farm, the flowers, the food (oh! Pieces of art with the herbs flowers nuts and local berries juices), the art collection in the manor house celebrating norwegian artists, the dedicated and knowledgeable staff. The hike along the Hattebergfossen waterfall and the flocks of sheep, goats and cows. What a great visit.

We weren’t sure that we should bother with a trip to Rosendal after visiting some other beautiful fjord regions. But Hardangerfjord has a different beauty, much more pastoral. The Barony sits in a valley nestled next to mountains, and has a gorgeous garden with a cafe. It is a lovely walk from the ferry.
Kay T — Google review
The barony park and garden are located in a very pretty place, facing the mountains. The place offers plenty of walks around, the rose garden is beautiful even at this season (mid-August). There is a café close to the castle with a nice terrace in the greenhouse. We took the guided tour option of the castle, the guide made the most of it but the possibilities are limited there. On the practical side, the parking is 75 kr, and the entrance with tour 210 kr per person.

Nice place to take a walk and even to have a lunch. But cost of admission is too high. After all it is just a park with no special attractions. We didn't join guided tour - maybe it would be more interesting.

Nice walk through tree lined Avenue to the Barony which is situated in beautiful gardens. Lots of history in the house. But the guided tour was very rushed as there seemed to be a queue of tours waiting. Pity! Cafe and restaurant in grounds make this a lovely place to chill out.

What a beautiful manor. The green is so intense – tons of plants, trees and grass. I found the manor house to be inspiring – various styles of architecture using various types of building materials. The intricacies of the iron gate archway are truly fascinating. The garden and the buildings are well maintained. The manor is easily accessed from a nearby parking area.

Such a pretty place! It feels like you’re walking in a fairytale. I was here before the season started, so the roses weren’t blooming. But it was still a very magical experience.

The Manor and restaurant was closed, 2nd June. The gardens and landscape was amazing and very relaxing. A lovely walk. The cost of 300 kroner for 2 adults and no guided trip was much to expensive.

Plenty of space, well laid out for both large and small vehicles. Access on both sides of the road. There is a small kiosk on the fjord side, the WC was closed for repairs when we were there. You can walk down to the water from here too.

Plenty of free parking for all size cars and tour buses. I recommend going early because this is a popular tourist spot. They have clean bathrooms and it is only a short walk to get to the bottom or to the top of the waterfall. You are also able to walk behind the curtain of the waterfall. There are two gift stores and one offers drinks and ice cream with outdoor picnic benches to sit and enjoy your drink. This was a great stop for us.

Gorgeous waterfall that you can walk behind. Easily accessible parking and toilets. Small tourist centre for advice.

Great spot right next to the waterfall. Found parking easily, even during the day. Clean toilets, nearby cafés and shops — everything you need for a quick and comfortable stop. Beautiful surroundings!

Open 24 hours, well lit, plenty of parking and clean bathrooms open as well. Plus the view of the waterfall. During the day you have tourist info, cafés and shops. At night the bathrooms are open and the waterfall is lit up for a beautiful view!

Great steam engine experience, especially great for small ones. Ride time is about 1.5h - 2h round trip. The main coaches can be a bit cold so I recommend a hoodie, the restaurant coach is great, but usually fully booked on return. It's a great experience if you can get a table. Food isn't the main draw, but the decorum that is period correct to the age of the train with makes for a fascinating dining experience.

Cool and genuine steam locomotive from 1913. Takes you on the old winding track from Garnes to Midttun and back. The trip takes about 40-45 min each way, and you get an nice experience of how the old train ride was. The train is so close to the rock wall and vegetation at some times, you got to keep your head inside the wagon. Sometimes they have an dinner wagon attached which you can reserve a spot and eat on the journey. Else they sell coffe, soda, chips, muffins and lefse onboard. Missing a little information and history about the equipment the museum has.

Seems like a nice set up. Need to come back on a day that they are in operation.
