Teatro alla Scala

Concerts & Shows
Teatro alla Scala, also known as La Scala, is an opulent 18th-century theater renowned for its Italian opera and ballet performances. The theater features a museum showcasing its rich history through exhibitions of costumes, musical instruments, photographs, and set designs. Additionally, the Livia Simoni Library houses an extensive collection of 150,000 volumes of librettos, scores, and periodicals.
A must-visit when in Milan, but plan ahead. We went during the August shut-down, so there wasn’t much to see apart from the tour. Still, the tour was interesting and included a visit to the theatre boxes, plus entry to the attached museum. Definitely book tours in advance, and if you can, time your visit outside of August so you get the full experience of seeing an opera.

What an exceptional experience. Once in a life time for me! as an Asian person, it was great to attend opera. Reminder to be aware of dress code as Italian dress really proper for opera!!! Good thing is there’s subtitle in English for the opera . Staff is helpful. Nice bar during the break too, good champagne.

A beautiful place, full of charm and history. The architecture, colors, and overall atmosphere are stunning, it truly feels like a grand theatre. The stage is massive, and the chandelier is absolutely gorgeous. The foyer is spacious and elegant, with mirrors that add to its classic feel. The museum is also worth exploring, filled with fascinating objects and paintings. Definitely a must-visit in Milan.
Dragos M — Google review
Went to see the ballet productions Études, Petite Mort, Boléro with the Ballet Company of the Teatro alla Scala and the Orchestra of the Academy of La Scala Theatre and it was epic. The orchestra and conductors were brilliant but the dancers were the stars especially the Boléro, she was amazing and the piece was spectacular. No idea how she spend 20+ mins like that but I'd watch it again any day. Only problem is for a 6 foot plus person the seats in the balcony are real tight, almost makes Ryan Air look a little comfy. Was fanatic to see so many kids at the ballet, smiling, laughing and enjoying it. We need more of this in Ireland
Joe M — Google review
The museum is very interesting. The building is beautiful and there is a lot to see. It is really nice that you have the chance to look into the stage and watch a current rehearsal. The ticket is 12 euro and the visit is totally worth it. We visited on a Tuesday morning and there were very few visitors so it was quite.
Kristina — Google review
Remember to book in good time in advance as the tickets sell out fast! This legend is one of the top opera houses in the world. The foyer space is quite small compared to the big number of seats and it gets really crowded in the intermission. The bar is cramped so go to line first for a separate ticket to get the drinks, only then to the service area so you get your purchase. We saw Verdi’s Rigoletto. The expectations were very high so we were a bit disappointed. The tenor had gotten sick and the replacing singer was not at the same level with other soloists that were stunning. We found the regie, set and clothing a bit outdated, even if the turning set worked well. The lighting was off and I guess with better lighting design the opera would have looked much better. Overall we were pleased with the evening.
Ville H — Google review
Even just from the outside, La Scala is elegant and timeless. The neoclassical façade is beautifully preserved and radiates quiet grandeur. It’s one of those places where you instantly feel Milan’s connection to art and culture — worth a short stop even if you don’t go inside.

I give 4 stars because its a beautiful theater, but is not breathtaking. Its just la scala. The performance was good Not impressive. After watching thurandot at new york opera house ..im not easy to impress.. Lol. Weirdly we got tickets the night before, so , we didn't have to make lines.

Villa Necchi Campiglio is a stunning museum in Milan, featuring an architect-designed villa adorned with decorative arts, paintings, and period furniture. Located in the Porta Venezia district, it offers a serene escape amidst historical and artistic wonders. The area boasts Liberty villas and vibrant flora, making it a paradise for history and art enthusiasts. Nearby Corso Venezia presents an opportunity for high-fashion shopping with renowned brands lining the street.
It was a fascinating experience. I find it incredible how museums and memorial houses have remained in the same form and composition as when they were inhabited by their owners. This is also the case here. The fact that you can see so many authentic details, walk freely through the house among the furniture, imagine the lives of those who lived here, and better understand the historical and cultural context is truly special. Not to mention the architectural execution. Additionally, the quality of the audio guide was excellent, providing a wealth of information accompanied by a soundtrack that immerses you in the story. It is definitely a great starting point for getting to know the city of Milan.

A must see villa from the 1930s and it’s garden. The villa belonged to 2 sisters who enabled the public to visit it. It is totally furnished and there are qualitative explanations via QR code + cultural mediators on site. Garden is free and there is a nice coffee by the pool.

The story of Villa Necchi Camoglio was inspiring. It felt like a hidden gem in the city of Milan. During the visit I imagined the time almost a hundred years ago the family and its friends spending time here. The rooms are designed and structured with many details. Next time when I have a chance to visit Milan, I would like to drop by again. It feels like a nice and gentle walk.

Villa Necchi Campiglio is a true hidden treasure in Milan, offering a glimpse into a world of timeless elegance and understated luxury. Nestled in a lush, peaceful garden, this architectural masterpiece is a stunning example of 1930s modernism, yet it feels incredibly warm and personal. Every detail in the villa tells a story, from the refined furniture and exquisite art collection to the cutting-edge innovations for its time, like the first private heated swimming pool in Milan. Walking through the rooms, you can almost hear the whispers of glamorous parties and the footsteps of the Necchi family, who lived here. It’s more than a museum—it’s a journey back in time to an era of sophistication and taste. What sets Villa Necchi apart is its ability to balance grandeur with intimacy. The tour guides bring the space to life with fascinating anecdotes about the family and the era, making the experience both educational and enchanting. If you want to immerse yourself in Milan’s rich cultural heritage and take a break from the city's fast pace, Villa Necchi is an absolute must-visit. It’s a place that lingers in your mind long after you leave—a true gem that deserves to be celebrated.

Masterpiece of early Italian modernist architecture: especially for the quality of the manufacture, the elegance of design and details, the transition from classical lesson and modern language. A special thanks to FAI, the Italian organization that takes care of this as well as lot of key Italian monuments.

Always a pleasure to visit this historic house museum filled with art of the time. The villa provided a perfect setting fora temporary photographic exhibition; Ghitta Carrell, a Hungarian Jew who photographed illustrious figures of the 30s, including Mussolini. Her portraits are famous for her use of groundbreaking techniques of the time.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a renowned 19th-century glass-covered arcade in Milan, Italy. It's situated at the heart of the city, connecting Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Scala. The gallery is a major attraction for tourists due to its proximity to significant landmarks like the Cathedral (Duomo) and the opera theatre.
Stepping in from Piazza del Duomo, the first thing that hit me was the light — filtered through the tall glass-and-iron roof so it cascades down onto the marble mosaics, giving everything a kind of golden glow. The architecture is elegant but not cold: there’s warmth in the arches, the frescoed ceilings, the decorative details everywhere. The shops are gorgeous — luxury brands, historic cafés, artful windows. It feels like fashion and heritage meeting. But yes, very

Awesome building and great atmosphere grand arches make it a must see landmark. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll, luxury shopping, or enjoying a coffee while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. A truly iconic Milanese experience.
Shaik V — Google review
A stunning masterpiece of Italian architecture and style. The soaring glass dome, marble floors, and ornate ironwork make the Galleria one of the most elegant spaces in Europe. Standing at the center, beneath the famous mosaic of the bull, is a little ritual — spin your heel for good luck — and it’s fun to watch visitors from all over the world take part. Even if you’re not shopping, the beauty of the place makes it worth visiting. The light through the dome, the hum of conversation from the cafés, and the view toward the Duomo capture everything you imagine Milan to be — sophisticated, timeless, and full of life.
David S — Google review
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of those places that makes you stop and stare even if you were just walking by. The second you step inside, you feel like you have entered a different world. The glass roof, the iron structure, and the floor covered with mosaics all hit you at once. It is elegant without trying too hard, classic but still alive. Every angle looks like it was made to be photographed, and somehow it never feels fake or staged. You can hear the sound of footsteps echoing through the hall, mixed with the low buzz of people talking, laughing, and shopping. Luxury stores line both sides, but even if you are not there to spend money, just walking through is worth it. The smell of coffee from the cafes mixes with the city air, and for a moment everything feels balanced between chaos and calm. If you look up, the glass dome above makes the light fall in a way that changes through the day, from soft in the morning to golden near sunset. It gives the whole place a quiet glow. You start to realize it is not just a shopping gallery, it is a piece of Milan’s identity. Old, proud, stylish, and built to last. It is one of those spots that remind you why Milan feels different from every other city.
Efe P — Google review
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is not just a shopping mall it’s truly a masterpiece of architecture and Italian elegance. Located right next to the famous Duomo, this historic gallery feels like stepping back in time to the golden age of Milan. The stunning glass dome, the detailed mosaic floors, and the grand arches make it one of the most beautiful and photogenic places I’ve ever visited. The moment you walk in, you can feel the luxury and history surrounding you. Every corner is picture-perfect, and even if you’re not into shopping, it’s still worth visiting just to admire the design and atmosphere. The galleries are lined with high-end fashion brands like Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci a paradise for luxury shoppers. Even the window displays are pieces of art. We also stopped for a coffee at one of the cafes inside, and it was a lovely experience sitting under the glass roof watching people pass by. Prices are a bit high (as expected in such a prestigious location), but the experience is totally worth it. You can also find restaurants offering delicious Italian cuisine perfect for a relaxing lunch after exploring the Duomo area. One tip: visit early morning or late evening to avoid the big crowds and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the gallery. At night, when the lights glow softly through the glass ceiling, it feels truly magical. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a must-see in Milan a symbol of Italian craftsmanship, style, and timeless beauty.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan is a stunning 19th-century shopping arcade, named after Italy’s first king and designed by Giuseppe Mengoni. Opened in 1877, it’s Italy’s oldest active mall and a masterpiece of iron-and-glass architecture. Visiting with my family was a joy—we captured countless photos and videos of its elegant mosaics, soaring dome, and vibrant atmosphere. The Galleria connects Piazza del Duomo to Teatro alla Scala and hosts luxury brands like Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Rolex. It’s not just a shopping destination, but a cultural landmark where history, fashion, and architecture blend into an unforgettable Milanese experience.
Dr. H — Google review
Walking into the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II felt like stepping into a luxury postcard. The glass dome, the mosaics, the high-end stores—all insanely elegant. I didn’t go inside any boutiques, just enjoyed the vibe. It’s the kind of place where you stroll slowly and take everything in.
Juan T — Google review
The architecture here is IMPRESSIVE! While it looks like a regular shopping street, it's nowhere near that. It's a reminder of how majestic Italy and their history is. Take a look above you, and you see a dome. Take a look below you and you see Mosaic tiles. Each corner, each crevice, each tile perfectly placed. As you walk around, you will see the HEAVY hitters in luxury stores. LV, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Versace, and many more. Even if you don't shop, it's still impressive to walk around and take in the beauty.

El Duomo in Milan was one of the most breathtaking landmarks I’ve ever seen. The moment you walk into the square, the cathedral’s incredible gothic architecture completely captures your attention—every detail, every spire, every carving is stunning up close. The inside is just as impressive, with soaring ceilings, beautiful stained glass, and an atmosphere that feels both grand and peaceful. But the rooftop was my favorite part. Walking along the terraces and seeing the city from above while standing among the intricate marble spires is an unforgettable experience. Everything is well-organized, and the staff were helpful throughout the visit. We also visited this place during our trip to Milan, and it was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere around the cathedral is lively, with people taking photos, enjoying the view, and admiring the beauty of the structure from every angle. Inside, it feels peaceful and majestic at the same time. The stained glass windows are colorful and full of intricate details, and the tall pillars make you realize how grand this church really is. If you visit, I highly recommend going up to the rooftop. The view from the top is simply amazing you can see the whole city of Milan and appreciate the details of the spires up close. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely breathtaking! The Duomo is beyond beautiful — every detail is incredibly intricate and far more impressive than words can describe. If you plan to take the elevator to the rooftop for the view, I highly recommend booking tickets online in advance.

Lots of tourists arrive here every single day, and it’s easy to understand why. The architecture of this ancient cathedral is absolutely stunning every part of the exterior is covered with beautiful carvings and statues that reflect centuries of history and devotion. There might be a queue, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Overall, the Duomo di Milano is not just a church, but a masterpiece of art, history, and architecture. A must-visit place for anyone coming to Milan!

Breathtaking – Day and Night! I absolutely loved visiting the Duomo di Milano! It's one of the most stunning places I’ve ever seen. I was so impressed that I went back three days in a row – both during the day and at night – and each time it felt just as magical. The architecture is incredible, especially when it's lit up in the evening. Whether you're exploring inside, walking on the rooftop, or just enjoying the view from the square, this place is unforgettable. A must-see in Milan!

Genuinely one of the most stunning, astonishing places I've ever visited. Its genuinely so breathtaking, I'll never visit another place that makes you feel so amazed. I'd recommend getting tickets beforehand and remember to cover your shoulders and ladies, wear a long dress or they'll make you buy a bag to cover up.

The Museo del Novecento is situated in the Palazzo dell'Arengario, a historic building in Piazza del Duomo, Milan. It was established to showcase and preserve 20th-century Italian art collections inherited by the city. The museum's goal is to promote cultural and artistic heritage from the 20th century, aiming to reach a wider audience. With a focus on Italian works, it offers comprehensive insights into this significant period of art history.
This art gallery is absolutely fantastic — the exhibitions are thoughtfully curated, and the atmosphere is inspiring. The only downside is that the air conditioning on most floors feels quite weak, especially during warmer days. The top floor near the piano area was pleasantly cool, but the lower levels could really use better ventilation.

Great experience! The museum is cured, the people are kind. Amazing view of the Duomo!!! Amazing collection of art, there is a little room all dedicated to Fontana.
Virginia B — Google review
Fantastic art space. The gallery impresses not only with the works of art, but also with the interior design of the space. The curators have done their job. You are transported through the different periods imperceptibly. There are signs and employees everywhere who explain where you should go so that you don't wander around the halls. From here there is one of the best views of the Duomo. The ticket price is impressive - €5, for what you will find inside.

Highly recommended to anyone interested in XX century italian art. The exhibition, largely created with donations and custodianships, presents notable art from the early century's Futurism and modernist movements up to graphical and conceptual art of the late nineties.

Beautiful museum that helps you to know more about the Italian art context of the 20th century. Also, the building is interesting and gives you an exeptional view of Duomo and the place in front of it, above the tourists' crowds. The entry price is surprisingly affordable compared to other museums and highlights of Milan, 5€ only. I highly recommend the place 😍

Museum of important works of art of the XXth century mostly Italian, in a beautiful building. Boccioni, Severini, Carra, Balla, Fontana, Picasso and other well known artists. It has a restaurant with interesting dishes on the 3rd floor to enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious meal overlooking the Duomo

The gallery is suitable for enjoyers of modern art. There was a beautiful view of Duomo where you could sit. Musician were playing guitars, amazing. The problem was that the staff was looking at us like we were thieves that could steal something every second. It was quite uncomfortable and we felt uneasy which disrupted our experience.

Chiesa di Santa Maria presso San Satiro is an elegant church dating back to the 15th century, located near the Duomo in Milan. It was founded by Archbishop Ansperto in the 9th century and is dedicated to Saint Satyrus.
Maybe a hidden gem in Milano. Not very people know this place. The depth you see in de church is an optical illusion. If you stand on the side of the wall you'll see there is no depth. Beautiful and mindblowing constructure.
Senna S — Google review
Very small church not mentioned in common guides but worth seeing. I get there only because random lady helped me with the map and told me about it. And I don' t regret it. The illussion of 3d is great! The photos of it fooled everyone! In addition it is very quiet church when You can rest and pray in a silence.. away from Milano noice which is right behind the door.
Als — Google review
This church is completely free to enter which houses the famous fake dome optical illusion. It's worth the time just to see this. The caretaker will ask you to make a donation but if you don't want to, then that is your choice. Don't feel compelled to donate anything.
Akil M — Google review
A very small but impressive church! In a way, it's a hidden gem among Milano's countless jewels. What makes the church so intriguing is its optical illusion, the photos I took fooled anyone who saw them haha! Another positive point is that I was alone when I went there. In fact, it's a quiet church and not very crowded, especially for people wishing to pray in complete serenity.
Nassim G — Google review
Superb detail of a “hidden church” between Milano’s biggest church empire. Well worth a visit. The outside looks very old, and the inside is immaculate. Free entry, quite empty, no dress code required. Well worth a visit.
Răzvan A — Google review
very elegant church but the opening hours are very tricky free entry but often occupied by services well i guess that is what the churches are for the main selling point is the chequered floor against the gold guided ceiling giving you the heaven and earth feeling
Wing A — Google review
Church dedicated to St. Satiri, who was the brother of St. Ambrose. The image of Our Lady with Child Jesus above the main altar is miraculous, because a soldier struck the neck of the Child in anger and it started to bleed. This blood spot is still visible, as well as blood stains on the hand of Mary underneath that spot. The apse behind the altar is a genius work of deceptive perspective effect. It seems painted from further away, but is actually in 3D and from all sides it seems about 5-8 meters deep, while in reality it is about 1 m.
P. I — Google review
Fantastic place with a lot of history of the Italian Renaissance, everything super renovated and beautiful. There is this Wooow effect when looking to the best perspective of Donato Bramante. He was a legendary architect (artist, an universal man) that lived in Milan during Ludovico Sforza's govern. They decided to build this church after listening to a miracle happened about 200 years before, when a drunk man passed in front of the small chapel with the painting of Madonna and Jesus (which now is on the main church altar) and stab Jesus neck. People said it started bleeding. But the problem of building the church at that place was the lack of space on the back side. Bramante managed to do the perspective trick and an incredible illusion of 9,6m depth, while he had only 0,96m available. Even Leonardo da Vinci was involved in the buiding of this church as Carlo Pedretti tells us. (I am a researcher of Renaissance and da Vinci. For a street walk in Milan see airbnb experiences)

Castello Bolognini, located in Angelo Lodigiano, is a stunning example of Lombard military architecture with an irregular quadrangular base. (Translated by Google) When we arrived in front of this castle I wasn't expecting much. From the outside it looks like the classic castle made of terracotta bricks with details that recall the Sforza castle (and it didn't belong to a Sforza for nothing). The guide Caterina welcomed us in front of the well and told us the history of this manor before entering. The visit took place calmly and was full of details and curiosities. She is very clear in her presentation and very willing to clarify our doubts or curiosities. Also very willing to welcome our considerations or points of view. Inside the castle is a real surprise. It is kept alive thanks to the foundation left by the last Countess. In every room you can feel the presence and the desire to tell the history and ancient glories of this castle and the Bolognini family. All told with a great spirit of sharing that makes us feel like part of the rooms, of the family. Caterina showed us without hesitation the small room hidden in the library, the icebox (opening it before our eyes) or even the bedside table that hides the chamber pot. It allowed us to look at the rooms without pressing us, giving us time to look, observe and breathe the history of these environments belonging to a distant era. I think that if she had had the time she would have been happy to share other curiosities about the Bolognini family and the castle. Truly a fascinating journey that leads us to slowly discover the history of our territory and how some things are handed down by the elders of the town even today (for example the Secret passage of the library which is said to lead to the Lambro river). If you have the opportunity to pass through Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, go and visit this castle which, in addition to the house museum, also houses the agricultural and bread museums. It was really very beautiful and exciting. Not only for the rooms which were carefully set up but also thanks to the guide who managed to tell the story with care and simplicity! Highly recommended! Lei molto chiara nell’esposizione è molto disponibile a chiarire i nostri dubbi o curiosità. Consigliatissimo!

The level of courtesy and professionalism at this place is severely lacking. Upon arrival, I wasn’t even greeted with a simple “good afternoon”—just a blunt “tell me.” I had booked access to the pool, only to find myself in the middle of a water polo training session with no prior notice or warning. Communication and basic manners were entirely absent. Yet, when it comes to charging guests, the efficiency and eagerness are suddenly impeccable. Disappointing and unacceptable.

Dolphiweb — Google review
One of the worst experiences I have ever encountered. I arrived around 12 o'clock on Sunday with my boyfriend. Right at the entrance, the staff were very arrogant and were not giving the proper information (for instance I am a student, therefore should have been given the student discount, the staff was annoyed when I asked about it). We payed 25 euroes (with a student discount!) for 2 tickets which were supposed to also include 2 sunbeds, and on top of that we payed another 3 euroes for a parasol. The outside area includes only 2 small pools which were fully packed and it was impossible to even put a little finger in the pool (read: overselling of tickets). Furthermore, there were no sunbeds available as some people took even 5 for themselves. As a cherry on top, there was not even the space available to put our parasol. At that point, we decided to leave as we have clearly seen that there is no space. Thus, we asked for a refund. Yet again, the staff was annoyed that we even asked them something and just refused the refund. They did though offer to find us a spot. The girl who accompanied us brought us literally on the soil and told us we could put our towels there. THERE WAS NO GRASS THERE, it was dirty and I think it was not even the area included in the actual complex. At that point, we could not even believe that the whole thing was happening, and we asked whether we could at least go in the inside pools so that we can swim. For the inside pools, not only did they make us pay another 4 euroes for the swim caps, but also 4 euroes for the locker. When I asked if I can at least bring a book with me so that I can read in between swimming, the staff said that it is forbidden to take anything with you near the pools, only one towel. No one showed any empathy and we were not even offered any discount when we complained. Never coming back.

(Translated by Google) I took a series of thermal baths. The staff are friendly and competent, it's a shame that the complex is let go. Years ago my daughter took advantage of inhalation treatments. All via SSN. The garden is full of trees, there is a lot of vegetation and it is relaxing to walk among the greenery and the sound of crickets. Unfortunately the disinfestation was not sufficient, or was not carried out, and there are really hungry mosquitoes! External sources of thermal water are inaccessible. Really a Sin. The pool is tempting and well-maintained, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas available. It's not very big. Next door there is also a very inviting hydromassage tub. I didn't get to use the modern bar, next time! Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Lombardy, Castello di Chignolo Po stands as a stunning example of an 18th-century patrician residence, often referred to as 'the Versailles of Lombardy.' This enchanting castle serves not only as a museum showcasing the art and customs of its time but also offers visitors a glimpse into the opulent lives of Lombard and Venetian nobility.
Interesting history and amazing architecture.

Beautiful recovery of this castle by a private owner. 2 guided tours for medieval and baroque (in Italian only I think), 75 minutes by tour: better put a lunch break in between. The guides are fantastic and provide a very exhaustive explanation of the castle history. Worth the visit.

One of the most beautiful visitable caste in this area! Inside a green park, with planned golf park, you can visit a lot of beautiful place, with a low fee. If you have a couple of hours to spend during a sundat morning I strongly suggest a visit here!

Nothing special. Private property, cannot go anywhere
Fabio S — Google review
An hour drive from MIlano for nothing, as we could not enter with our dog, as only small dogs are allowed. This vital piece of information is missing on the Castel's site and is not mentioned anywhere else. Shame, as small dogs are often much noisier and much worse behaving, than friendly and well trained bigger dogs. A policy in need of re-thinking or a statement on the site is due.

Shopping
So many options in terms of shops, food etc
S. B — Google review
Big shopping Center near Voghera. Plenty of shops to choose. What I like most here is the extremely large wine shop inside the ipermarket. You'll find two facing walls, each about twenty metres long, one devoted to fare wines, the other to white and sparkling wines. Some quite expensive or very difficult to find.

Very great place as a shopping mall at south Pavia area. The real advantage is the so familiar atmosphere, the children playground is not so big but enough for them to get some fun. The pizza at the market place is really good, as like as in the other near shops. You can have a funny nice afternoon with kids or friends.

Shop and save inside the main store: daily fresh and canned food, wine and beer, cleaning stuff, basic DIY tools, clothes, toys and much more ... Now there's also a new section with modern furniture. Media World and other shops, cafeterias and restaurants in the gallery. Very big parking site.

Lots of shops and variety, but the real value is the supermarket itself. The quality and abundance of products ranging from fresh pasta to cheese to fish, is rather astounding. Very competitive prices too

Qualitatively they work very well. Classic method a small champagne and red pinot noir a real champion. I will definitely return to taste the other labels. I recommend! Since our arrival we were welcomed with great hospitality and professionalism, in an environment that combines elegance and authenticity. The occasion was a birthday and the room was entirely dedicated to us. The visit to the cellars was fascinating: they guided us through the production process with detailed and passionate explanations, making us appreciate the quality of their wines even more. After the visit, we sat down for the tasting which was absolutely faultless. Each course was paired with their wines, enhancing the flavors perfectly. From local cured meats and cheeses to the main course, everything was taken care of down to the smallest detail and prepared with high quality ingredients. Rocca d' Olgisio is a charming B&B located within a historic 6th-century fortress, offering modest yet comfortable rooms and stunning mountain views. The fortress, situated on a rocky cliff separating Val Tidone from Val Chiarone, showcases medieval fortification and various architectural structures that add to its allure. Despite damage sustained during World War II, the fortress remains in excellent condition with well-maintained exteriors.
Rocca d'Olgisio Castle in Pianello is a stunning historical site that offers a captivating blend of history, architecture, and breathtaking views. The tranquil atmosphere and rich history of Rocca d'Olgisio make it worth exploring.

(Translated by Google) The visit to the fortress takes place on holidays, at specific times, so it is necessary to book by sending an email or calling the number indicated on the site. To get there, you need to follow a road with a steep slope and in general, the visit takes place through the passage of numerous stairs, so comfortable shoes are recommended (no heels) and is not recommended for people with walking problems. During the visit we retrace the history of the fortress, which unfortunately has suffered several devastations: the furniture and utensils present were in fact included in the layout by the current owners. The frescoes with intertwining branches and leaves are very beautiful, reminiscent of the fresco of Leonardo's vineyard present in the Sforzesco Castle in Milan. The view that can be enjoyed from the walkways of the tower over the entire Val Tidone is splendid.

We arrived by motorbike along a very small and treacherous road that took us to the car park below the Rocca. The only flaw, the guide, who I think was one of the owners who was probably in "a lot of hurry" and the photos were taken on the fly!!!!! he didn't leave us the necessary time to listen to the story and take photos inside the Rock. There were 2 possibilities, either you listened to the guide or took photos, in the moments that we stopped to observe the rooms and the views offered by the tower, we lost the group and consequently the story. For the rest I recommend a visit.

(Translated by Google) Perfect evening, incredibly clean, dark, cloudless sky! We began with an introduction of the summer constellations, and distances of the stars as orientation Arcturus / Vega / Deneb. The second part in the recently created planetarium with an introduction to the solar system and astronomical distances. The third part: observation through telescopes (Dobsonian) of M13, the famous globular cluster in the constellation of Hercules, M57, an unmissable planetary nebula in Lyra and Saturn just risen to the east. I brought a small astronomical binocular with me to do some tests, the purity of the sky was incredible and the ease of locating some objects that were almost invisible from the plain due to light pollution! I would like to put all the stars I saw yesterday in this review, but it's not possible! then only 5. Vega - Deneb - Arturo - Antares and Altair who kept us company throughout the evening together with the highly trained and friendly staff. Already knowing well the beauties of the sky having been an amateur astronomer for some time, it was an unforgettable experience for everyone. I will be back soon with other friends. That said, the goodwill of its administrators in the care and maintenance of its architectural heritage, its cleanliness, and the excellent range of tourist services are also impressive: paid and free parking, shops, restaurants, and hospitality. Worth visiting are the Gobbo (or Devil's) Bridge, the Cathedral and its charming square, the Museum of the Abbey of San Colombano and the church of the same name, and, if you have time, the Castle, the Mazzolini Collection, and the churches (San Lorenzo, Madonna dell'Aiuto). A truly wonderful discovery in a country like ours, which always offers, often on its doorstep, wonderful glimpses of Italy's past. (Translated by Google) Bobbio Cathedral dates back to the Romanesque period, built in the late 11th century. The three-nave interior features 15th-century frescoes, particularly the beautiful Annunciation. The simple, austere façade is topped by two bell towers, one of which is truncated. The crypt is dedicated to Saint Anthony Gianelli, bishop of Bobbio in the 19th century, who is buried in a transparent urn beneath the high altar.

(Translated by Google) Cathedral with beautiful frescoes on the walls and a deep blue ceiling. Behind the high altar, descending a marble staircase leads to a crypt, where you can admire the relics of several bishops who have succeeded one another over the centuries. A must-see if you're passing through Bobbio.

(Translated by Google) Cathedral of Bobbio, its construction dates back to 1040 when Bobbio became the seat of the bishop. The structure is in Romanesque style, but all the posthumous transformations are perceptible. The facade is from the mid-1400s. The visit inside is very pleasant. Noteworthy is the fifteenth-century ceiling that is found in a small room on the right as soon as you enter; and the annunciation also from the fifteenth century that can be found in the small chapel to the right of the main altar.

Hiking area
Ponte Gobbo, also known as the Hunchbacked Bridge, is a landmark bridge with a rich history dating back to Roman times. Rebuilt in the 17th century, it features an irregular up and down path and is characterized by its humpback structure supported by eleven stone arches of different height and width. This iconic bridge is a symbol of Bobbio town and is closely linked to the legend of Saint Columbanus and the Devil.
Not only have I been staying in Italy’s most beautiful village (2019). Bobbio is located in the heart of Val Trebbia, a valley described by Ernest Hemingway as "the most beautiful in the world". I discovered last night: “Historians have speculated that Bobbio was the town in which Leonardo da Vinci completed the Mona Lisa. Carla Glori in December 2011 has published her book Enigma Leonardo:decifrazioni e scoperte where the background of the portrait has been identified as the landscape of Bobbio.

Really cool historic bridge with a stunning view. We parked outside the town, just next to the bridge. There's nothing much around, but it was worth the hour drive for us.

Beautiful place, in fact the village has been awarded as the most beautiful village in Italy couple of years back. I fully agree with that! Since we went on Xmas day, there were literally nobody around. The drive through the hill (last 10-15mins of drive) is bit difficult since the width of the road is just enough for one vehicle. But with almost no traffic, seems to be ok. I love to visit the tourist places when it is empty, and I am glad I picked the Xmas day for the visit. There is a restaurant near this bridge, but was closed. The village also was very quite. Just my kind of place!

Amazing medieval bridge below which is an area of river perfect for swimming. Lots of families, my children had a great time swimming about looking at the fish. Some shade under the arches of the bridge, recommend taking a picnic.

Furthermore, in this period there is a beautiful photographic exhibition of the Apennines of the four provinces.
