Southwold Pier is a classic Edwardian pier that has been modernized for 21st-century enjoyment. It offers picturesque spots for iconic seaside photos, including a water clock designed by inventor Tim Hunkin. The pier features arcade amusements, shops, and restaurants, as well as the unique Under the Pier show with homemade coin-operated arcade machines. Located near Southwold town center and its sandy beach, the pier provides access to various food outlets and family-friendly attractions.
Lovely time spent along the sea front, pier and town. Pier has an unusual collection of amusement (you need coins - they have a change machine for notes) Great fish and chips shop by the pier with a lovely, young friendly couple working there when we visited. The town is very nice with a tea/coffee cafe that does some tasty and unusual pasties. There is a lighthouse actually in the town, but you need to book ahead for tours. There is also a large, and old church with 17th century graves and beautiful architecture inside and out (even though we're pagan) All in all a relaxed place to visit and relax by the seaside without masses of arcades .
Zipitupuk — Google review
A quintessential British seaside town with lovely Victorian pier, colourful beach huts, a working lighthouse. Excellent high street with very nice eateries. Home of Adnams Brewer. Would highly recommend you visit if your in the area.
Neville B — Google review
A lovely Smallish Victorian pier with easy parking nearby (pay by app is available and it supports a number of different parking apps, this will avoid the queues for the cash payment ticket machine). Entry to the pier is free and there’s a number of small eating establishments on the pier. SO if you fancy the smell of the sea, it’s highly recommended. It’s a bit of a walk into the town after though
Mick S — Google review
Although a bit chilly and windy we had a lovely walk on Southwold Pier. At the very end you can have your picture taken as a pirate and watch the fishermen. Had an excellent coffee and pecan pie in the cafe, which is dog friendly too!
Em A — Google review
Lots of fun. Quality food and drink and eccentric fun on this well kept pier. Makes a change from the tat you often find on seaside piers. Do try the quirky arcade cum art exhibition for fun. Also don’t miss the cheeky water sculpture.
Michael M — Google review
View from our beach hut rented for the day. Lovely albeit small beach, with plenty of toilets and facilities. Pier is upmarket and well looked after. Small amusements but not dominating. Nice small town centre. Great for a day trip but imagine busy in the summer.
Alex B — Google review
A well kept and upbeat pier. Some wonderful mechanical things - the clock and the sign for ‘Southwold Pier’. Had delicious fish and chips. A windy day but lots of sunshine.
Christina B — Google review
Lovely little pier with lots on it, a gift shop, multiple places to eat and drink and a great view back over the town at the end. Seating booths all along to protect from the wind which is great. Only thing putting me off was how expensive the restaurants were and how busy the arcade was. It's such a beautiful spot though so the busyness was to be expected.

Lighthouses
Southwold Lighthouse, a 19th-century seaside tower, offers visitors the chance to climb a spiral staircase and enjoy panoramic views. The area is known for its seafood, with locally caught fish being a highlight. The lighthouse often has pre-show specials for those interested in pairing dinner with a film at the nearby traditional cinema. Additionally, it's praised for its reliable service and reasonable prices.
I had the pleasure of visiting the lighthouse during the Adnams tour, and it was absolutely fascinating. This thoughtful birthday gift allowed me to explore a piece of history right here in our county, for which I’m truly grateful. The tour, which lasts about an hour, offers incredible insights, though it does involve some climbing—so be prepared for a bit of a workout!
David M — Google review
Excellent tour guide, who was interesting, enthusiastic, and informative. Amazingly clear views are seen from the top of the lighthouse of the town and coastline. Narrow and steep steps have handrails but are not recommended for those who have mobility, heart, or breathing problems ( the guide is a trained first aider) Nice touch at the end of the tour with an Adnams beer or soft drink voucher to exchange at their Sole Bay Inn situated directly opposite.
Ally W — Google review
Fantastic knowledge of the history of Southwold and other Trinity lighthouses by Martin (our Adnams tour guide). An enjoyable hour well spent.
James P — Google review
If you are visiting Southwold this tour is must do. Currently booked through Adnams brewery tours. The tour of the lighthouse has 113 steps, glorious views of Southwold and the coast with a bit of history thrown in. Our guide Bev gave us lots of information and facts about the lighthouse and the various lamps used over the years to keep the light shining. The story of the bakers boy who noticed the light was out and raised the alarm which led to the discovery of the keepers being too ill with Spanish flu to keep the light burning which led to him and his dad keeping the light burning while they recovered. We had amazing weather when we visited so got some lovely views of the town and the sea.

113 steps, glorious views and a bit of history all thrown in. The best story was of the bakers boy who found the light had gone out, discovered the keepers were down with Spanish flu and so with his dad kept the light burning whilst they recovered. We were very lucky with the weather and so got glorious views of the town and sea.
Stuart W — Google review
Fantastic tour run by Adnams, lots of history and an incredible view from the top, well worth a visit.
Leo B — Google review
Loved our tour Saturday 24th june. I can't remember our tour guide but he was good and explained everything in detail. The tour lasts about 1hr to 1.5 hrs. The steps may sound a lot but it's really not that bad to get to the top and once you're up there you get brilliant views all round.
Steve M — Google review
Absolutely loved the tour! The guide was fantastic, and the whole experience is great value for money. I was surprised that I found climbing the stairs far more scary than I anticipated!

Alfred Corry Lifeboat Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
For those captivated by maritime history, the Alfred Corry Lifeboat Museum in Southwold is a must-visit destination. This charming museum showcases the remarkable legacy of the town's seafaring past and pays tribute to the courageous individuals who risked their lives for others at sea. At its heart lies the historic Alfred Corry lifeboat, which served valiantly from 1893 to 1918, embarking on 41 missions and saving 47 sailors during its operational years.
Excellent guides, some awesome stories of what these incredible people did before more modern equipment became available. Always tugs on the heart strings. Car parking is low price and the Lifeboat Station with the duty boat (Atlantic) is in a building nearby.
Chris H — Google review
Chance to see a lifeboat whose crew were responsible for saving 48 lives. The lifeboat is beautifully restored, and this small museum tells its story very well. Please make a donation to the RNLI when you leave.

We love visiting & exploring, this place is full of facts & history that everyone enjoys learning about. Absolutely brilliant, welcoming to all ages with a fun interactive pack for the younger members. We have learnt so much about the history by visiting. With welcoming, friendly people running it. We highly recommend visiting if in Southwold.
Stephanie D — Google review
Great fun for the kids, we did the quiz and learnt about the village and their fishing history. The old boy that was manning the museum was so knowledgeable and friendly. Plus it's free entry, of course did give a donation, was great.
Alex M — Google review
A small but well presented museum. Extremely informative and well worth the visit. Volunteer staff are really helpful and happy to chat and answer any questions.

Dropped in here on way back from Walberswick as it was open and had always wanted to go in. Free entry but donations appreciated. Well worth it! Volunteers were very polite and helpful, gave my kids a quiz to do around the museum (answers were easy to find). Lovely use of an hour.

RSPB Minsmere is a coastal nature reserve featuring woods, wetlands, and seven bird spotting hides. Visitors can explore nature trails and enjoy refreshments at the tea room. The area offers camping, self-catering holidays, and accommodations close to seaside towns like Southwold and Aldeburgh. The Cliff House Holiday Park provides a relaxing retreat with a bar and restaurant offering local beers, wines, spirits, and freshly cooked food.
A well maintained and beautiful nature reserve with a mix of woodland, marshland and beach walking routes. Walking the entire site takes around 2-3 hours at a gentle pace with the option of stopping at the many lookout cabins dotted around. Large car park and visitors centre with cafe, gift shop and toilets. Have visited several times and am always impressed!
Adam N — Google review
We are RSPB members and this is one of our favourite sites. The staff were really helpful at the desk, advising us of the best routes to take to see the most interesting wildlife based on recent sightings. We saw adders about 5 minutes after we arrived! There were also marsh harriers and many water birds, plus we heard the bitterns booming. Lovely coastal site. The cafe was delightful and we bought a few bits in the shop. Great day out 😁
Caroline L — Google review
I came here today with my 1 year old daughter. We had a lovely time, having a slow stroll, looking around to see what wildlife we could see. I love the fact there are family activities in the woodland like "build a den", such a great idea! When our daughter is a bit older, I will definitely bring her back to do this. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff too :)
Rach D — Google review
Beautiful sea, marsh, and woodland. Staff are super helpful. Tons of birds and other animals all throughout. Kind of cool that Sizewell B looms in the distance; very contrasting to the nature around.
Mike B — Google review
What an amazing place. Went two days running. It's well laid out and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I have a really bad back awaiting surgery so walking for me is painful. On day two I hired a mobility scooter to help me get around. It made my stay a lot more comfortable. Not many ducks geese or swans about yet but the Hobby and Marsh Harrier were showing well. Cafe was great too. If you get a chance to try the tomato and red pepper soup , do. It was superb
Jess D — Google review
Absolutely amazing reserve, fantastic staff well stocked shop offering everything from trinkets to top of the range binoculars and delicious food in cafe/restaurant.two days is not enough to take it all in!!Excellent x
Stuart B — Google review
Where do I start? Visited there for the first time last week. Paid £10 each. Hubster and I were asked very politely if we wanted to consider signing up to a monthly subscription to RSPB, min of £5.50 for joint unlimited entry to ALL RSPB centers in the UK. We said we'd just walk about first so paid the £20 and off we went. Spent just 2 hours there, went to the beach and a couple of hides. Absolutely loved the idea of spending the day on the beach, walking about the reserve, taking pics of the birds from the hides so when we got back to the visitors' centre we signed up. Got a refund of the £20. Can't wait to go again. So worth it.

Art gallery
Snape Maltings is a vibrant hub of music, independent shops, galleries, and dining options housed in repurposed Victorian buildings. Once one of the largest flat floor maltings in the country, it was transformed into its current lively mix by George Gooderham starting in 1965.
Easily one of the most magical places to get married for music lovers. I photographed a wedding here and as a musician myself I was just blown away by how special it felt. Plus it’s just a really unique setting for a wedding. So many marquees and barns these days - they’re pretty, yes, but there’s nothing else quite like this. 🙌🏻
Joshua P — Google review
Went to a concert as part of the annual celebration and it is such a great location. The main concert hall has great views from all seats. Toilets are plentiful and clean. Bar is reasonably priced for a captive audience. Staff helpful and the whole site is magical.
Emma G — Google review
Really lovely place to visit- you could easily spend the whole day here as its in a beautiful riverside setting and there is so much to see and to do. Perhaps you will choose to walk out over the marshes on the board walk, take a boat trip, wander around the antique shop, admire the work in the art galleries, buy something fabulous from the interiors shop for your home, treat yourself to something stylish and unique from the boutique, have lunch in the excellent coffee shop and stock up on produce from the deli, all before visiting the concert hall and experiencing a performance in a concert hall with extraordinary acoustics...... Visit Snape Maltings:you will be pleased you did.
Susannah C — Google review
We went to a National Youth Orchestra concert, which was excellent, and then spent several hours the next day exploring the site and doing some shopping. There are lots of different things to see and do, so we had a very enjoyable experience.
David S — Google review
Let me start saying it's not the cheapest of places, but however it's a lovely place to visit there are lots of little craft shops and café. You can walk around the place and take in the river and scenery. As for music venue goes it's really quite good. As driver getting in it's a bit of a nightmare. One way system lots of parking.
Paul J — Google review
I visited Snape Maltings today. I followed the "Way out" signs, only to be met with heavy plant working on the roadway. I was abruptly told to back up and use the incoming lane to exit. Shame no one in project management even considered rerouting the way out signs whilst the work is going on as I was not the only member of public who followed these signs to be faced with same dilemma. I'm pretty sure the health and safety executive would be very interested in this issue.
S K — Google review
Free parking, funky shops, great pub and cafe onsite (veg samosas and ginger ice cream to die for). Great for a mooch and an ice cream on the lawn during the day but do try and get a ticket to see some world class music in the main hall in the evening - its an outstanding night out at an iconic venue. Also great walks from the car park and forrest nearby to the south (again plenty of free parking in the woods). Great day out.
Tim B — Google review
The galleries, food shops and the actual attraction are lovely but the antique shop is selling Golliwog key rings. Not sure why this is being accepted in this day and age. Pretty despicable.

Outdoor Activities
Gorleston-on-Sea Beach, situated in the southern part of Great Yarmouth, is a picturesque destination known for its expansive sandy shore, beautiful riverbank, and wide harbor. The beach seamlessly transitions into a charming promenade and cliffside gardens. Adventure enthusiasts can indulge in activities like bodyboarding, surfing, and windsurfing near the beach. Gorleston on Sea offers a classic seaside experience with dog-friendly stretches that are cleaner and quieter compared to other nearby beaches.
When we read some reviews it did make us laugh or thought perhaps there was some sarcasm (I’m sure someone said squint and u could be in the Maldives). However I did see their point. What an amazing deep beach with soft sand and vigorous sea. Not to choppy not to calm. Loads of space on the beach. I could t see it ever getting packed or to busy. Parking might be an issue perhaps in high season but it would be worth the struggle. Loads of places to eat and drink. Public toilets, arcades, ice creams etc. we will be going back as the beach alone is well worth the visit.
Ashley W — Google review
Really lovely beach. We visited with 2 little kids and had an amazing time! Easy (free) parking on the street running alongside the coastline, easy walk down to the beach. Miles of sand, a lot of it dry and comfy to sit on, then some sections of pebbles, and as the sea goes out, more lovely sand. The beach was clean, though we did find a few bits of litter to pick up on our way out. We were there on a hot sunny day in late July, and it wasn't overly busy, loads of space to spread out and play. We arrived at 10am, and parked easily, though I suspect we'd have been a street or so further back if arriving around midday or later. No dogs on the beach (it may be that they're allowed outside of summer though?), so its safe for kids to play without fear of stepping in anything, or being knocked down by racing dogs. There's a lifeguard station, watching an area for swimming between flags, a splash pad (opens at 10am, kids loved it!), and a large pond for model boats. Adjacent to the beach, there are public toilets (near the Pier Hotel), and while a little smelly, they were fine for beachside public toilets. Outside these there are also 2 taps for rinsing feet etc. Overlooking the beach there is an arcade, an ice cream parlour (absolutely amazing!!) and a chip shop/cafe (chips were good). We also visited 2 days prior when it was raining, and had lunch in the storm house cafe (food sensibly priced and decent, nothing fancy but an easy place to stop in). The rain stopped, and we wandered the beach, toddler throwing stones at the waves, and playing in the drier sand. We had the beach to ourselves as far as we could see! I really don't think I can praise it enough, we had a great time and will be back! It's much more sedate than somewhere like Yarmouth, so if you're looking to avoid huge crowds and masses of people packed onto the beach, it's a superb place to go.
Kerry C — Google review
Superb beach and surroundings. Loads of stuff to do, from walking, sun bathing or even staying with your little one at the splash zone. Great choice of restaurants and bars to enjoy throughout the area. Loads of parking available at the pier parking. The beach is very sandy, however when getting closer to the water-line it gets a bit rocky and has loads of pebbles and stones. If you are a bit more sensitive when walking on rocky/pebbles, definitely recommend getting some water shoes. Water is quite wavy but at the same time it is lovely. It is a bit cold, even when outside there's 26 degrees for 2 straight days.
Adrian I — Google review
Great beach, miles of sand to walk and play on. Always busy. Walk on the prom plenty of benches to sit on and places to eat and drink. Worth a visit.
Paula B — Google review
Wonderful place to sunbathe, enjoy a refreshing swim as the water doesn't retreat as much compared to other beaches. Really great spot since it's close to many restaurants, pubs, shops, parking, etc. The water is very clean, a bit cold even when temps are above 25 degrees on full sunny days. The overall beach is amazing, it's very sandy, however it is very rocky and has a lot of small stones/ pebbles closer to the water.
Roxana P — Google review
Gorleston-on-Sea is a really beautiful place. The beach is wide, clean, and never feels too crowded. The views are stunning, especially on a sunny day, and the promenade is perfect for walking or sitting with an ice cream. There are lovely cafés and fish and chip shops nearby, and parking is easy. The atmosphere is calm and friendly — perfect for families, couples, or anyone who wants a peaceful seaside day. One of the nicest spots on the Norfolk coast — always worth the visit.
Amciui C — Google review
I heard that this beach is quite quiet compared to the other beaches in Great Yarmouth so we decided to give it a try as we wanted to take our young toddlers to the beach for the first time. Really lovely beach and has a few shops and cafes spotted around, however we were there quite early on a Monday so not sure if more open later on / over the weekend. We also managed to find the Banksy art piece which was a nice surprise! Always wanted to see a Banksy art piece up close! Also there is another art piece that is dedicated to the film ‘Yesterday’ which I saw a few years back and had no idea that the end scene was shot here which was pretty cool to see being a film geek. There’s loads of car park choices and we choose the Pier parking which is £3 for 2 hours and can be sorted using the internet / QR code, so if you’re out and about and want more time you can just extend the time if needs be. Overall great beach if you’re looking for somewhere ‘less hectic’ seaside wise.

Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach is a vibrant amusement park located on the Golden Mile by the beach. It covers a vast nine-acre area and offers an array of attractions suitable for all ages. From thrilling roller coasters to traditional rides, there's something for everyone. The park also features Pleasure Beach Gardens catering to younger children, as well as amusement arcades and various dining options.
My new favourite Amusement Park not in Staffordshire or Lancashire! No ride queues and I went on a Saturday in summer! Granted i was with the group which got an extra 2 hours, but still...

Came today. we paid for a card on entry. Easy to use, and you can top up/check balance in lots of places in the park. Most rides are for young kids, nothing too extreme. The wooden roller coaster and monorail were good. Staff seemed friendly, especially the lady at the entrance. Excellent customer service 👍

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an amazing day at Great Yarmouth Beach – perfect for a fun family outing! The soft sand and lovely sea made it such a relaxing experience. It wasn’t too busy, which was a nice surprise, and the atmosphere was great. We enjoyed some fresh fish and chips by the sea – absolutely delicious and full of flavour! The only downside was the number of seagulls (they really love the chips!), but it didn’t spoil the day. All in all, a fantastic spot for some seaside fun. Highly recommended!

We visited here on a Wednesday evening, for the late opening hours, in late July and arrived at half five, meaning we could take advantage of the late evening wristband pricing (£17 for 5 until 9:30). There are also fun cards at £5 or £10 which offer 5 or 10 ride credits and can be topped up inside the park. However suspect the latter are a false economy if you have more than 2 or 3 rides - especially in the evening, as most main rides are 4 or 5 credits. There was a fair size of queue to the ticket booth but it moved quickly and probably only took 5 to 10 minutes to get to the entrance. There is a good range of flat rides and four coasters, with all costers being aimed at family-friendly. The wooden roller coaster is the oldest in the UK and has a brake man riding on the train. While not the smoothest or comfiest ride, it is good to ride a bit of history. The remaining three are Family Star, a short spinning wild mouse and two small kiddy coasters. The flat rides are good variety, with spinning and drops and also a gyro swing. What struck us was that the park was relatively quiet for school holiday season and queues were short. The ride throughput would be increased further if the very slow wristband scanning was not performed - not really sure why this is needed as takes a got 10 seconds to read each one, based on our experience. Food offerings are OK - there is a large hot food stall that does hotdogs (not so good), burgers (better) and loaded fries (decent) amongst other offerings. All in all, worth a visit even in peak summer as really never felt busy and plenty of ride opportunities.
Ian A — Google review
Went as a family. You can get 5 credits to get in and use on one ride if going with a group of kids. The food hall and bar are great. The rides make it more like a smaller fair rather than a pleasure beach like Blackpool but still great.
Gary A — Google review
A Fantastic Day Out at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach! We had an amazing time at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach! There’s a perfect mix of classic rides, family-friendly attractions, and thrill-seeking roller coasters. The historic wooden roller coaster is an absolute must-try – a true blast from the past! The park was clean, well-organised, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the day. Entry with the wristband is great value for money, especially if you’re planning to go on lots of rides. It’s also right by the beach, so we could enjoy the rides and then relax with some fish and chips on the seafront. Plenty of food options, clean toilets, and seating areas made it comfortable for families. Whether you’re visiting with kids, friends, or as a couple, it’s a great spot for some good old-fashioned fun. Highly recommend – we’ll definitely be back next summer!

I couldn't really find anything to fault here yesterday with three bored kids. Despite it being a Peak Season Sunday all the queues were very short, just a couple of minutes. A little longer for the big coaster but even that was less than ten minutes. Every ride looked to be well staffed, no litter in sight. The guy manning the Dodgems literally couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, he gave the impression he genuinely wanted to be there. Over the course of the day my lads went on about thirty(!) rides each, so they got superb value from their 'all rides' wristbands. The only thing I could ask was for some concessions for Blue Light card holders, other than that, an easy five stars!

So its the end of summer, the rain is biblical, but Great Yarmouth still saved a little magic for us. Rainbows over the beach. Oh, and a cheeky ice cream. The great British summer delivers.

Nestled along the picturesque South Beach Parade in Great Yarmouth, Merrivale Model Village is a delightful destination that promises to enchant visitors of all ages. This charming attraction features an intricately designed model village complete with a stunning garden railway, whimsical penny arcade, and engaging mini-golf course.
Absolutely loved visiting this place while we were on holiday - we brought tickets and was able to go again for free withing the week of purchase. Friendly staff, even have a little miniature golf course. My little boy absolutely loved watching the fish in the pond. Would definitely reccomend if this is something youre interested in.

Great to visit this place my wife loves Model Villages so we always pop into one when we are near one We live near here so always worth a yearly visit. The place is great well maintained some nice models and the gardens and plants here are well looked after as well. If your local and have a NR postcode they offer discount of 25% I did not know this but luckily i always carry my driving license so got some discount which is always an advantage.

Beautiful place to spend an hour or two. It is very well kept, the gardens are lovely and the exhibits are regularly updated. The tea rooms and arcade at the end are also well worth a visit. It is also fairly priced.

SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth is a family-friendly attraction located on the famous seafront of Great Yarmouth. It offers a variety of sea creatures, including blacktip reef sharks, African dwarf crocodiles, and clownfish. Visitors can explore the world of jellyfish in the Jelly Invaders display, observe Humboldt penguins, and walk through an ocean tunnel surrounded by a quarter-million liters of seawater.
Visit the sea life centre at least once a year. We absolutely love it. Lots of information points as you walk around about the animals around you. We particularly enjoy the submarine that you can walk into and see animals much closer, including the sting rays and blue lobsters.
Catherine B — Google review
Ignore what it says online as its says to be there for the time you booked but getting there you get a stamp and are told you can come and go as you please! So this is great if you wanna hear all the talks or go in and out and get a coffee. Place needs a damn good clean!!! But other than that still nice to look around! The talks and feedings were great too!
Natasha P — Google review
My son had a lovely time touching the starfish and little waterfall, and loved the sharks. Staff were understanding of his autism and that was much appreciated, cool octopus there too! Going to take him to see the penguins next time. Prices were better too off season, only £16 pp, and a free ticket for a carer if you're on PIP, so saved £16 too. Overall good activity for kids and adults alike, but the gift shop is very expensive! Avoid at all costs if possible haha! Only a stone's throw away from places to get food and drink too, and right on the sea front, bowling alley on the nearby Wellington Pier and arcades also. Very well situated, also close to Pleasure Beach. I'd recommend it to anyone with kids.
Elvira N — Google review
Walk through tunnel was lovely, good for the kids to see the animals well. In the room with yellow submarine, you were about to previously purchase food and feed the fish. There was a crocodile which you don't always see at sealife centres. Option to touch a starfish too. Nice as you could pay a little extra and it got you entry to the Giant Wheel too! Gift shop is very large, took kids a long time to pick something.
Charlotte N — Google review
Not as big as other Sealife Centre s but still plenty to see and do. The café was reasonably priced and the bathroom facilities were very clean. Ample room to change the baby.
Christine C — Google review
Highly recommended to book ticket online since it has discount for blue light card or student etc. The ticket allowed you to go in and out for a day multiple times. Although I must say this aquarium is not as big as others we had been like London, Newquay, Weymouth and Birmingham. Having said that we enjoyed the tunnel watching, penguin, fresh water fish, amphibians and experience on touching star fish.

Our first visit to Great Yarmouth and to the Sea Life Centre been to Blackpool one years ago. This was a different set up bit smaller but nicely set out with Real Penguins talks were imformative and interesting Tanks clean and tidy enjoyable experience cafe clean and plenty of room with clean toilets. Can re-enter after you have left which is a bonus and makes it good value
Paul A — Google review
Visited the SeaLife centre with my daughter whilst on holiday at Great Yarmouth. Bought the tickets in advance. I did get my hand stamped as they said I could enter the shop and cafe anytime that day up to 3pm. Soon as we entered there was a member of staff waiting to take photos for us to purchase at the end. It was good, not as big as the one in London tho, we saw the penguins 🐧 the sharks, loads of fishes, sea horses, octopus 🐙 (can’t believe they have 9 brains 🧠 and 3 hearts)once we came to the end we did purchase our photos they did have a deal (we got 2 photos 2 magnets and 2 small keyring sized pics for £20) then we stopped off to have a look in the gift shop. Overall it was a nice experience as this was our first time visiting the Great Yarmouth SeaLife. 👍🏻

Joyland is a long-standing family-owned amusement park located in the vibrant seaside town of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Established in 1949, this free-entry attraction offers an array of thrilling rides for children, including the famous Tyrolean Tub Twist and Snails ride. The park features a Toy Town Mountain with attractions like the Spook Express Kiddie Coaster and Neptunes Kingdom Undersea Fantasy Ride. Visitors can also enjoy a traditional American diner for refreshments.
Small theme park for young children. The rides are very well kept considering their age. It's like stepping back in time but in a good way. I have childhood memories of going on the same rides that my daughter has now had a ride on including the snails.
Kev L — Google review
Been coming here for 40 years, still love it. Snails are still a highlight. It's so small and tightly packed that it's a bit claustrophobic though. Very hard with a wheelchair to get around without bashing into everyone else. That being said, still amazing for the kids.
Steven W — Google review
Really liked Joyland, its not huge but just right for the older kids that can get on by themselves. I do like the token system and like how they give you stickers with your number on it to access your pictures at the end. The time we went wasn't soo busy so was pleasant. Little cramped but otherwise really good, would go again!
Ateeqah S — Google review
Brilliant we all had such fun on the 18 hole pirate crazy golf. It also has facts about pirates on the way round
Stu M — Google review
We visited on a quiet day and most rides were open. We wanted to see the famous Snails Ride for which Joyland is known for and we was not disappointed. There it was stood in glamour, opened in 1949 and still there to it's day. Joyland is a young children's Amusements park with rides just for them. You pay via tokens and entrance is free. You can find a video of our visit on our youtube channel.

Amazing and completely unique family run amusement Park. Suitable for every single age group without exception! No visit to Gt Yarmouth is complete with a ride on the snails. Lots of fun and incredibly nostalgic.
Corine S — Google review
we visited last week, i DID NOT feel the joy guys, We rode the snails, very excited for this, The man operating it was extremely rude. I asked if there was a specific place my daughter should sit & his response was, I don’t know i just work here…snatched the tokens and looked away. Leaving me to scramble into the snail and just figure it out. The vibe was completely off & we left. If you are going to call yourself joyful at least make sure your staff are joyful & care about safety.

Visitors can explore reconstructed Victorian row houses, experience life on board a drifter, and step into a 1950s fish wharf scene.
Brilliant museum and well worth a visit. Perfect for a chilly day on the coast. We spent good few hours here learning the history of the local area and the building itself. There was also a fab exhibition on Automata that my son loved.

Definitely worth visiting. Give yourself plenty of time. So at least 2 hours. You could easily go longer.Lots of things to keep both young and old entertained. We booked the tickets online. There's a carpark nearby if you're driving. Staff were kind and helpful. There was a special exhibition of 50 years of Miffy which was equally enjoyable. Certainly recommend as an great day out for the family

Easton Farm Park is a seasonal petting farm that offers a delightful experience for families. The farm features Victorian cottages with cozy decor, a play area, and a cafe. Visitors can enjoy getting up close and personal with the animals at reasonable entrance prices. The highlight of the summer season is interacting with adorable baby animals and exploring the Green Trail, which winds through river areas, pastures, and woodland walks.
Really great little farm, plenty of things for the family at a reasonable price. We stayed at the campsite next door which made for a great weekend away. We look forward to returning again soon 👍

Excellent attraction for families, especially for children up to 11 years old. Very hands on experience with plenty of young animals during our visit. Plenty of helpful staff. The facilities are good with room for improvement. On our visit the soap dispensers in the gents was empty. The cafe had sold out of many products. Tickets are expensive for a young family. Under 2 free. Everyone else full price. Yes I would take my family again.

As annual pass holders we have had lots of fun days out at Easton Farm Park. There are plenty of farm animals to feed, opportunities to pet the smaller animals during the day, a great outdoor park plus plenty of indoor spaces for a rainy day including a large cafe, a play barn with a mini soft play, ball pool, climbing area, small trampolines and more, there's an undercover picnic area too. Scheduled activities include free rides on the shuttle, the tractor and trailer plus grooming the ponies. During holiday periods extra things take place, like an Easter themed mini show for the children to sing and get on the stage to interact with the staff in costumes. Lots to do and the children are always happy to return. My children are currently 2&4 years old but I expect they'll enjoy days out here for more years to come.

Absolutely a great place to visit when in Suffolk, UK! 🇬🇧 with or without children ➡ Easton Farm Park! I visited it 6 days in a row during the last week of May 2025 with my granddaughters age 4 and age 2 on an annual season entrance pass. Also one day with friends and their children. The grandchildren absolutely loved it and we stayed always until closing time at 5 pm - about 7 hours a day. Open 10 am to 5 pm. The weather was perfect! About 22°C and sunny. The setting is very scenic! Picturesque 'English Countryside' with extended walks, grandiose trees and ponds/river where the children can fish. The centerpiece is the beautiful Victorian farmhouse near the River Deben in Suffolk, England. The park features a variety of animals, rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, horses, Shetland ponies, donkey, peacocks, guinea fowl, pigs, cows, alpacas; Children can observe and interact with the animals and learn about them. The choice of playgrounds is excellent! Including a huge outdoor trampoline. Many activities to choose from. All is clean, well kept and maintained and the staff is very helpful! There is also an indoor play area which was very much liked by my granddaughters. We spent some longer time in the part of the farm where historical displays were exhibited about the Suffolk Punches 🐎 horses and the farm and found it very interesting. Every day we went into the Cafe and had quality time there. Enjoyed what was on offer. One day it was very busy with a long wait but the other days it was fine. I would always revisit when in this Suffolk area. We stayed at the '2 Pound Cottage' nearby in the village of Easton and walked over to the farm. A short 9 minute walk from there along the road or alternatively a longer walk near the river Deben through woodland. Easton Village is very charming with a beautiful, picturesque, romantic countryside. Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saturday, 14. June 2025

We had such a great time at Easton Farm Park! It’s a smaller farm, but full of charming activities for kids. Our 6-year-olds were kept busy all day with the toboggan, bouncy pillow, play area, zip line, mirror room, cow barrel ride, tractor ride, bunny stroking, egg collecting, foam party, circus skills, mud kitchen, and more. We ate in the café and the food was delicious — under £10 for a lovely jacket potato with super-yummy coleslaw, and the chicken nuggets were made from real chicken. The men in our group even enjoyed the penalty shoot-out area! Highly recommend for families with children under 10.

Had an awesome time today! I tend to avoid such places during school holiday but we had so much fun today we will be buying the summer passes for next year as there was so much more to offer during august! Thanks for a brilliant day 😁
Tuey S — Google review
My little boy, who is 4, is absolutely loving here, and we now have a yearly pass, so we can come whenever we like. It's a lovely place with quite a few animals, lots of activities throughout the year. They change the theme depending on the season and always have different games and things to do. Has a small cafe with drinks, food and indoor small softplay for children while waiting. Only thing is that I found annoying that they often run out with certain food and drinks. We love coming here❤️

Been coming to Eastern Farm Park since my own son was a child now I'm coming with Great nieces & nephews. I'm local & enjoy bringing family to my little corner of Suffolk. I'm impressed with the added features each year. The kids love the play area especially the toboggan ride & giant pillow. Love the traditional rides however disappointed that meet the animals consisted of 2 goats & one rabbit where years beforehand the kids could hold rabbits etc... Sadly no donkey rides either, which the kids used to love. The under cover picnic area is a must but the restaurant was very overpriced and for the cost of entry & food (1 adult & 2 kids, £45 entry) I dont expect to wait over half an hour for food. There seems to be more activities for children but less animals to see. The walk was closed so no stroll around the area. The foam party was a great way to end the day. The kids loved their day even if my purse didn't!

This imposing stronghold, built by Roger Bigod after the Norman conquest, has been at the center of significant historical events. Visitors can explore its medieval battlements and enjoy breathtaking views of the Suffolk countryside from the 10-meter-high wall walk.
Imposing castle in a beautiful setting. The wall walk gives spectacular views although it was a little scary in the strong winds when we visited..... There is a very good exhibition of the history of the castle and a lovely cafe too
Janice S — Google review
A lovely castle to walk around the high wall. Also a little wander around the perimeter was nice to see it from a different angle. The cafe and museum were both good as well. Not much going on with the inside space of green grass. Also they had repair works in place which prevented us going the whole way round. Its also 100% dog friendly which was great! Even up on the wall.

This is a well maintained castle that you can walk around at your leisure, it is pretty much an access all areas place where you an walk around the walls and the various buildings within that contain static exhibits regarding the history of the castle and the area. The staff as expected are excellent. The cafe is excellent with a good selection of food and drinks, toilets are fresh and clean and there's plenty of parking.

Fascinating place to visit. Good parking (with 2 blue badge places), impressive castle, free electeonic guides with guided tours also available. Reasonably priced cafe. And a wall walk also part of the experience. Well worth a visit.

Really enjoyed our visit to Framlingham Castle today. Was great to walk the walls, read the history of the castle, walking through the local history museum, have a drink at the cafe and enjoy browsing the gift shop. Loved that there is a currently a Task Master challenge and activities going on. So from the castle walls we could hear hysterical giggles and people competed against their team mates to win the taskmaster trophy and have their photograph taken in the winners photo frame. Well worth a visit. Even better if you are already an English Heritage partron -free entry and discount in the shops.

Lovely few hours spent here walking around the castle and the grounds lovely view from the top going around. Have 2 little exhibition room. We did the guided tour which was good. Not a whole day thing but we had fun

Lovely place to visit and obviously this is the castle that Ed Sheeran has sung about "The Castle On The Hill". We didn't go into the castle, but did walk around and take some lovely pictures and then visit the Two Magpies Bakery which was really good. We had a nice couple of hours out so if you have a bit of free time, it's worth a visit for a leisurely walk and a spot of lunch.

Due to the high wind, we couldn't do the battlements walk whilst listening to the commentary so the rating is lower than it would have been. Small discount on entry fee as a result but it wasn't as good an experience without being high up. The museum inside has some interesting stuff though. Staff were very friendly & helpful.

Nestled in the charming town of Halesworth, Oasis Camel Park offers a unique opportunity to interact with camels, making it a standout destination in the UK. This delightful park is not just about camels; visitors can also meet an array of friendly animals including donkeys, alpacas, llamas, and even meerkats and lemurs.
We had a very enjoyable day here and the best bit about it was that we were able to bring our little dog with us. It was just the 2 of us and the dog but if you are bringing children there us so much for them to do. I had cuddles with some adorable bunnies and we all had a ride on the train around the park. You can also buy bags of feed which is enjoyed by all animals there, the marmoset particularly like the corn and the lemurs liked the pellets, where as the goats will eat anything. 😂

The camels didn't look too happy or treated extremely well. Family were friendly, the train was included which was nice, as was the mini golf. They let you take dogs in which is a nice touch if you have a dog. The hand washing stations were stocked with soap and tissue with warm water.

My first visit today with family for our daughter's 13th birthday. She had been before and chose to come back here to celebrate. I can now see why knowing how she loves to get up close with animals. Think of this as kinda a huge petting zoo with some extra activities thrown in like crazy golf, a great trampoline pad and optional (but highly recommended!) camel rides!! Huge shout out to Georgia who made our day here extra special. She's a real credit to the park and clearly adores working with the many animals.
Ben W — Google review
A wonderful place that's absorbing and very chilled thanks to the staff. The animals looked well cared for and were happy to pad over to say hello/lighten the food bag we'd purchased at reception. Dog friendly except for the pet's barn. Two friendly resident dogs roam the site, alongside hens, their chicks and cockerels.

Lovely place to visit.... great for a family day out they do loads of things like camel rides train rides petting ad feeding animals at an extra cost but also you can purchase animal food to feed the animals yourselves there's toilet facilities and cafe and gift shop... hand facilities all over to the areas

Disclaimer: we visited end of season while the weather was cold and there had been rain. Having said that we did find this place a little on the tired side. The free roaming dogs are cute and friendly, but not great seeing dog poo while walking about the park. They do say they have the dogs on their website so I suppose you have to expect it. The animals on display look well cared for and the staff friendly. Uniforms would be a good touch so you knew who they were. It is worth the visit and use it or lose it!

Such a lovely family farm! The animals are super well cared for and really friendly. They will come running when they hear the feed bag. There are plenty of handwashing stations, fun activities for kids like camel rides and llama walks, and it is even dog-friendly. My pup loved watching the meerkats and lemur! It is a hidden gem, quiet even on weekends, but it truly deserves more visitors. We will definitely be back and hope this wonderful farm continues to thrive.

Didn't expect much , but was wowed by the enthusiastic family run park. No thrills, it does what it says on the tin stuff that we found genuine warmth, fun and reward from. Enjoyed a 10 minute camel trek too! Thoroughly recommended for 4 hours of fun! The owners make you wish that the bigger places offered some humility and thanks for visiting? Cash preferred as it's a mobile flat spot 🫣

The beach also features boat launching facilities and is surrounded by unspoilt natural beauty. It's safe for children and some areas are open to dogs.

Absolute gem of a place walk your dogs for miles on the unspoiled beach. Car park very reasonable at £1.50 per hour then when you've finished walking enjoy a drink and a snack at one of the cafes next to the car park. Also keep an eye on the sea to do a spot of seal spotting.

We stayed in Sea Palling the 2nd week of September and were very lucky to have 6 out of 7 sunny days! I have to review this absolutely stunning and clean beach. We holiday all over the UK and we were blown away with the cleanliness of this and surrounding beaches. We watched the brave locals swimming every morning - so that's a good indicator too! There are good clean toilets just off the beach, a nice friendly local pub, a couple of good little cafés and a wonderful ice cream shop! We will definitely be returning soon.

I enjoyed communicating with seals. It was in April, there were seals on almost all beaches, about 30-40 individuals. They were lying and swimming. I recommend it.

Sea Palling beach is dog friendly to the right hand side all year round but not in the summer months if you turn left when approaching from over the hill. There are places to eat and toilets. The beach itself is usually clean and has a few patches of pebbles but mostly sand.

Good facilities by the parking area next to the beach front. Small Amusement arcade, one where you can have your millions of tickets to exchange for a keyring. With a small cafe attached to it- a nice place but it’s not massive so expect it to be full on busy summer days - parking is chargeable and can be paid by phone or card. The beach is lovely and clean, lots of sand, and lovely dunes that are home to many animals Worth a visit, the people who own/run the cafe and amusements seemed very nice and friendly 😃

Nestled in Stalham along the picturesque River Ant, the Museum of the Broads is a treasure trove for anyone eager to delve into the rich history of this stunning national park. This family-friendly destination boasts interactive exhibits that engage visitors of all ages, making it an ideal spot for a day out. The museum showcases an impressive collection of boats that have navigated these waters, complete with insights into their historical significance and practical uses.
What a little gem! Visiting the area and googled ‘dog friendly boat trips’ and the Museum came up. Booked a ticket online for both the museum and a boat trip. Run by volunteers, both the museum and the boat trip are testimony to their enthusiasm. Found the museum really interesting and the boat trip was a delight. Highly recommend a visit.

Really enjoyed our visit, the staff were all so lovely and welcoming and there was lots to see and learn about the broads. Dogs are allowed in all the buildings at the museum and can even go on the boat trip! The boat trip is an additional fee and 2 people from our group went on it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of places to sit outside in the sun or the shade and watch the boats coming and going. We booked online the night before and parked in Richardson’s Boatyard up the road as recommended by the museum’s website and didn’t have any issues. Would definitely recommend a trip!

We had a wonderful visit to the Museum of the Broads in Stalham. The staff and volunteers were not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also friendly, entertaining, and clearly passionate about what they do. The electric boat trip was a real highlight. Peaceful, fascinating, and full of interesting facts about the area and wildlife, we saw a Kingfisher! There’s a fantastic collection of old boats, equipment, and tools, all well-displayed with plenty of information to bring the history to life. It’s also very dog and child friendly, with lots of activities to keep younger visitors engaged. One of the absolute highlights for me was seeing the Wherry “Albion” which was visiting that day. I was able to step on board and hear its history directly from the volunteers, which was a real treat. Even after two hours, there was still so much more to explore. You could easily spend a whole morning or afternoon here and not run out of things to see and do. I will definitely be coming back in future.

Well worth a visit, lots of exhibits related to the area. A ticket entitles you to a year’s worth of further entry. Enthusiastic volunteers are on hand to welcome visitors and explain more about the exhibits. We didn’t have time to do the boat trips but they looked wonderful. If you’re in the area and interested in learning more then this is a must visit. Dog friendly which for us worked well.

It's obvious a lot of hard work has gone in to this little gem, and still going on. Fascinating insight to the broads and the people that lived and worked on the broads. Lots of artefacts, exhibits, stories and the fact it is based close to a working marina and lots of craft in and out of the moorings, is a bonus. Plenty of games and puzzles for the children. Seating and tables if you want to take a rest and picnic, just watching the boats and wildlife. A trip on the lovely little Marsh Harrier finished off the day perfectly.

Excellent informative museum well laid out. We visited with a 12 and 15 year old. Staff are very helpful and welcoming. Kids spotting trail and games to do. We also took a trip on the steam boat, The Falcon, which was really good and we highly recommend. It was a real treat and is from 1895 and carried about 12 passengers. The boat trip was 50 minutes and we saw plenty of wildlife including a kingfisher which the boat crew pointed out. A real highlight of our trip to The Broads.

Great small museum with lovely staff. We didn’t take a boat trip (their boat had issues on the day) but there is more than enough to see there without one.

The Happisburgh Owls tourist attraction offers an exceptional animal encounter, highly recommended by reviews. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience of having tea while holding owls, which is both entertaining and educational. Sandra and Darwin, who manage the facility, have a remarkable bond with the owls, evident in how the birds respond to them. Each owl showcases distinctive personalities that add to the charm of the experience.
I had a great time here - I got a voucher for my birthday so I didn't know what to expect. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and passionate about looking after the owls and we had some very interesting conversations throughout the day. We were able to stay for as long as we liked and we're made to feel totally at home. The owls are clearly well looked after and loved.
Kris B — Google review
I simply wish I could give more stars, 5 simply isn't enough for Happisburgh Owls! My partner bought me this experience as a gift for my birthday and it was easily one of the best days I've had! Darwin and Sandra are simply wonderful and down to earth, so so lovely to chat to throughout the day and brimming with knowledge. All the owls are beautiful, treated with the utmost care and as Sandra mentioned to us during the day, are essentially her children. I'm not sure the price as was a gift, but I'll be paying whatever it is to bring my family next year. You simply cannot have this same private experience anywhere else. If you love owls or birds in general, you will 100% love this! Cannot wait to visit again!

I arranged for a visit to celebrate my Wife's birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary and it was an unforgettable experience. Darwin was an absolutely fantastic host and very knowledgeable about a subject that he is obviously very passionate about. The real stars were of course the owls, Laser really won our hearts, he is incredible and my wife felt a real connection with him similar to his connection with Sandra that we were so privileged to witness. We couldn't have been looked after any better and we will definitely be returning, thanks guys!

We had a lovely afternoon with Sandra and Darwin who shared a magical day with us and their amazing collection of owls who were friendly and calm with our children. They made us feel at home and taught us lots of interesting facts and information which we will treasure for many years to come. Well worth experience all round amazing cake and coffee also supplied which was very tasty 😊

We visited on Monday and had a wonderful experience. Sandra and Darwin spent hours teaching us about the owls and introducing us to them individually, giving us the opportunity to hold them, take photos and learn about the different species they have there. The owls are kept in beautiful, clean aviaries and the care they receive is obviously outstanding. The passion of Sandra and Darwin for their owls was really evident. We were made so welcome, treated to drinks and cake throughout our visit and given plenty of time to ask questions and interact with the owls. Highly recommend supporting Happisburgh owls through visiting - especially as the whole cost of entry goes towards caring so well for the owls.

Sandra and Darwin are brilliant, lovely people! Felt very welcoming from start to finish. I come nearly every year and it just feels like another home to me. This recent visit, I brought my two girls with me and they loved it! Darwin and Sandra was very good with them! It’s so nice to get up close to the owls and see each of their personalities ☺️

Absolutely wonderful experience. Sandra and Darwin made it an amazing day, so caring, helpful and are so knowledgeable about owls. My daughter bought it as a birthday present for her Mum, wow what a great present, she / we all absolutely loved it. Highly recommend. A very special and intimate experience, thank you 🦉👍🥰

We were on holiday in the Manor Caravan Park in August and it was on their Facebook page that they were having an open day on the Sunday we were there. It was their first ever open day so we didn't know exactly what to expect. What nobody expected was for the local press to find out about it and advertise it in the paper. As a result, when we got there at about 11 o clock there was a queue of about twelve people. The lady on the gate was very apologetic because no-one was expecting it to be so popular and as a result there was a bit of a delay. After a twenty-ish minute wait we paid our £5 entry fee (per person, it would have been value for money at double that). We were introduced to a charming young man by the name of Darwin who would be our host/guide for the tour. We were shown around the sanctuary's "family" of owls, they are so highly regarded by those who look after them. Each owl has a different story as to why it's in there and each one has its own personality. The depth of knowledge in all of the staff is astounding. The reason for the open day was to help raise funds for the feed for the owls, the price of frozen mice etc. has skyrocketed due to the energy crisis/COVID and to raise awareness of the sanctuary itself. They mainly do owl experiences where you can spend time with the owls, handling them and getting to know their stories on a one to one basis. Sandra and the staff also take the owls out into the community, to fairs etc. but one of the most fascinating things they do is take them around the care homes and hospital/hospices in the area like other places use dogs and cats. Apparently the reaction from the residents is amazing. I hope this hasn't put Sandra and the other staff off doing something like this again, it was a fantastic experience for the wife and I and we're thankful that we were there when it happened. Good luck to all at Happisburgh Owls, we will be back.

BeWILDerwood Norfolk is an expansive forest-based theme park situated on the outskirts of Bure Marshes National Nature Reserve. Inspired by local author Tom Blofeld's enchanting children's books, this award-winning adventure park offers a magical experience for families. Visitors can explore treehouses, partake in enchanted boat rides, and encounter captivating characters from the stories. The park welcomes both kids and adults to enjoy activities such as zip wires and jungle bridges.
We went on a Friday in the summer holidays. It was busy but we got there for opening and were able to see everything and do everything we wanted to before closing! Food was simple but affordable and we didn’t have to wait. The staff are superb, friendly, engaging and really helpful! Kerri who was driving our boat that day, was brilliant, kept us all safe, told us a brilliant story and pointed out all the Kingfishers and deer along the route. Highly recommend!
Lorna B — Google review
I highly recommend BeWILDerwood, it’s such a great place for kids (& us adults!). There’s plenty to do, slides, zip wires, adventure playgrounds, mazes, swings, balancing beams & climbing walls. We also really enjoyed lunch here, plenty of choice & reasonably priced. The staff are really lovely & helpful also. We arrived 15 minutes early to queue up & headed straight to the boat which I would recommend, when we arrived back from the boat ride it was very busy!! Definitely a full day of fun!
Laura E — Google review
What a quirky little (by that we mean huge) place! Loved this magical little find! With little ones in tow who love the outdoors- this was absolutely perfect for a blend of adventure, play and some good Norfolk fresh air! The zip line, climbing wall, slides and tree huts kept them entertained for the day- we did eat at the restaurant to warm up, food was good- no complaints and wasn’t a silly price like Lots of the in resort eateries can be at these places. Price to get in is quite expensive but when you get a full day of fun and some very tired children at the end of it, it’s worth it! The boat ride into the park was also very exciting for two youngsters! Bewilderwood- much love from us for an amazing day
Kirsty W — Google review
Great place to take younger children and a giggle or two for adults too. The site is well laid out with a huge amount of climbing and sliding options to contend with. The aerial maze was particularly good and the boat ride around the lake is a must do. Good facilities with food and drink options but also plenty of tables for picnics. Eating whilst the shows are on is a great tip and many people do it as it’s undercover so if a hot day provides shade or a wet day provides sanctuary. I would definitely recommend it for a fun family day out.
Jamie L — Google review
What a fantastic place. I was concerned by the ticket price but it was worth every penny. We got there for opening and it was busy but we went on everything and only had to queue for the boat ride and the bigger zip wire but everything else was easily accessible. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we had a fantastic day. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a fun packed day out.
Kimberley O — Google review
Lots for the kids to do , plenty of picnic tables, food was nice and not too badly priced. Went end of October so was treated to the light walk. Great day out
Tracy M — Google review
Great day with my 8 year old. The various adventure areas are huge and as an adult I was able to take part too. My daughter particularly loved the drop slides, sky maze, and the boat ride with Jade (who is fantastic at their job). Lots of tree cover so would be great on a hot day. Even saw a slow worm!
Mareli G — Google review
Excellent place for kids who love the outdoors! Plenty of activities to get involved in as well as a selection of food places to eat. The sky bridges/climbing frames and slides were fun even for my 3yo. The prices were excellent too and we spent 5hrs there! The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Majority of the place had paths but there were a few spots that the pram struggled.

East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden is a stunning 32-acre modern garden in Norfolk, designed by Alan Gray and Graham Robeson. It features themed garden rooms such as herbaceous borders, sunken rose garden, woodland garden, Mediterranean garden, and an Arizonian-inspired Desert Wash area. The extensive grounds also include rare species, an apple walk, and a cornfield. This hidden gem offers visitors a unique experience with its diverse landscapes and beautiful vistas.
Wonderful gardens. The creativity is amazing when you realise originally it was just flat arable land. So many different garden rooms, your eye is drawn to many intriguing gaps to go through and explore. Lovely old walls & hedges you really feel as though you are on a journey of discovery. Lovely cafe with lots of outside space to sit & enjoy coffee or lunch. Highly recommend.
Sally M — Google review
These gardens are vast and it's very easy to wander through a hedge into another section and get a bit lost Think Harry Potter goblet of fire maze scene! There are plenty of places to rest but you should get there when it opens at 12 as you'll need the time. The cafe is a bit pricey, cakes are lovely, cheese scones were not but they did give us free cakes and were very good. There are toilets and plenty of plants to buy. Disabled parking next to the entrance in the shade if you get there early. Recommended.
John P — Google review
Lovely garden. Lots to see. Although we were given a map on entry, once in the ground there is no indication were you are. I am sure we missed quite a few areas. It still took us a couple of hours including a stop at the coffee shop where we had a delicious courgette and lime cake.
Catherine B — Google review
Fantastic garden to visit! A real treasure for the eye, so much to see and beautifully done. I have been twice, and each time the owners were working in the garden and very happy to chat to you. There is a lovely coffee shop on site, too. This is one of the best gardens I have visited.
Jill K — Google review
We've been coming to Norfolk for 15 years and only have just been given a recommendation to come here. But I'm so glad we have. What beautiful gardens, built up over 50 years with obvious love and in-depth knowledge of horticulture from the owners. There is so much to see. Just when you think you've seen everything, you find another nook or cranny bursting with colour and fragrance. There are lots of seated areas, either to sit and rest or just take in the breathtaking surroundings. The entrance and exit are adjacent to the tea room, so the choice is there is to either fuel up before your walk round or relax afterwards. We shared a pot of tea with the apple crumble cake, which has to go down as one of the best cakes I've had at any tea room. It is very reasonably priced and a must for any keen gardeners visiting the area. You can even purchase plants from their shop before you leave.
Jacqui S — Google review
Our first visit here. Absolutely brilliant. The planting is beautiful. So many layers of different textures, colours, and scent. The eye wonders from the high trees down to the rambling plants and every pathway teasing you to walk down to find out whats around the next corner or through that little gap you spied into the next section. The buildings and structures nestle into the planting seamlessly unlike the fountain that unashamedly stands out high and proud making noise pretending to be a waterfall to steal your eye away from the plants. There are ponds and pools filled with plants and fish. There is a dry river bed desert themed garden. There's an orchard. Long high hedged grass areas with focal points of statues or arch ways to draw you in. Woodland walks. Alpaca and guineafowl. You will definitely be ready for a piece of cake and a pot of tea at the tea room after exploring ready to recharge for more exploring of all the things you've missed first time round. The gardens are accessible to all there are wheelchair and mobility scooter pathways and ramps to help you enjoy the gardens. There are toilets on site too. Plenty of parking too. No dogs are allowed here and no picnics are allowed in the grounds either. When I read the no picnics bit I though that was a negative then after walking around the gardens I could see that there are few places you could sit to have a picnic and also it would attract litter and mess and require litter bins ect that would ruin the views so do as we did and enjoy a sit down in the tea room or on the outside tables and chairs. The public loos are basic and there was a wait as there aren't many, something to keep in mind. They are fit for purpose though And your not here to look at the toilets are you? This is a place we'd definitely visit again and I'll be encouraging people I know that are in to this to definitely give it a visit.
D — Google review
Really outstanding gardens! A really special place to visit. Lots of variety and the perfect size to spend an afternoon exploring. Honestly has to be one of the best gardens in the country. We felt the cost was a bit steep before going at nearly £15 per adult, but we see now that it's worth every penny and after speaking to some friendly regulars are now looking at getting a seasonal pass, which is actually really very good value.

Norwich Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Norwich Cathedral, a Romanesque church dating back to 1096, is a historic landmark dominating the skyline of Norwich. The cathedral boasts stunning stained glass windows and impressive double-height cloisters reminiscent of Hogwarts. Visitors can admire over 1,000 painted wood carvings on the ceilings and watch peregrine falcons nesting in the spire during summer. The cathedral close surrounding it creates a picturesque village-like atmosphere with cobbled lanes and beautiful gardens.
We visited late on a Tuesday afternoon and found the cathedral quiet and almost empty. Most visitors had departed, but the clergy and some laypersons were busying themselves to welcome parishioners for the 5:30 p.m. Evensong. By arriving late we missed the Cathedral’s free tours (the website shows the last one begins at 3:00 p.m.), so we picked up a welcome booklet instead and did our best to follow the suggested visit order. The nave is magnificent, and we marvelled at how well its strong Norman design had been integrated into the lovely fan vaulted ceiling. Two massive spiral-ribbed columns stand out. Because of the service preparations we were only able to peer into the lovely wooden choir, but we found our exploration of the impressive Presbytery and its four adjacent chapels to be fascinating. Given the time we could only do a cursory exploration of the ceiling’s treasure trove of carved medieval ceiling bosses, but we certainly plan to return to explore them more fully. Practical info: Norwich Cathedral has no entry fee, but a donation is much appreciated. An excellent list of tours, events, dates, and timings is available on the Cathedral’s website. Should one be visiting by car, note there is no parking in the Cathedral Close, but the website provides a recommendation of nearby pay parking options.
David R — Google review
This cathedral deservedly made Norwich a proper Christian city when Normans began construction in 1096. It boasts the 2nd largest extant spire of a British cathedral (this iteration standing since 1485). The cathedral doesn’t have a peal (unlike the storied nearby St Peter of Mancroft) for which only 4 stars are given. The church has received a modern hostry and refectory in the 2000s, where modern toilets can be found as well as a three-quarters decent contracted vendor for the café, the Bread Source. The wood and glass structure makes for a pleasant space and a good entrance, where entry is subject to a voluntary donation. The close is also lovely and home to several businesses, a college, and private residences.
Carl F — Google review
Beautiful place and really helpful staff! Staff arent pushy for donations which is great as many places are pushy. Free tours makes visiting very affordable. Would definitely reccommend for half a day/a full day out. We went at 11am on a Wednesday during the October half term and it wasn't busy at all. They had activities like colouring avaliable for children.

Easily the best to look at for stained glass. This place is vibrant!, well lit and all of it accessible. We travel the length of the vou try looking st cathedrals and so far this has been the best one we've seen. The people here are friendly and approachable. Fantastic parking just moments from the cathedral and be sure to keep an eye out for there cat. 10/10 would recommend visiting here.

Absolutely stunning place! 🌿 Norwich Cathedral is one of those spots where time seems to slow down. The moment you walk through the gates, you feel peace and history all around. The building itself is breathtaking — the architecture, the soaring arches, and the beautiful cloisters are simply magnificent. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Even if you’re not religious, it’s a wonderful place to reflect, sit quietly, or just admire the craftsmanship and beauty of centuries past. The volunteers and staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions. Don’t miss walking around the peaceful garden and the lovely café nearby — perfect for a quiet cup of coffee after your visit. It’s definitely one of the highlights of Norwich. Highly recommend to everyone visiting the city — a truly magical and inspiring place ✨

Whether you’re interested in architecture, history, or simply seeking a serene place to visit, Norwich Cathedral is an unforgettable experience.

Unfortunately couldn't spend as long here as would have liked. Understandably but without forethought closed part of this morning for remembrance day. Managed to wonder round inside afterwards and was guided expertly by 1 of the tour guides to the locations of the 2 people's graves/tombs/plots we we're looking for. Glad we went back after remembrance and most definitely worth the £5 each charity donation. The building itself is in excellent condition considering its 900 years of existence.

Norwich Castle, located in Norfolk, England, is a historic Norman site that was built in 1067 at the request of William the Conqueror. The castle has a distinctive cube-shaped keep and has served various purposes over the centuries. It was converted into a museum in 1895 and now houses collections of archaeology, fine art, natural history, and teapots.
To anyone planning a visit, I would strongly advise booking your ticket for the newly refurbished Norwich Castle in advance. This helps you skip the main queue, though you should be prepared for a short wait even with an online ticket. It's well worth it! The newly refurbished Norwich Castle is an incredible place to visit. I was impressed by the exhibits, especially the art from the Second World War, and the beautiful views from the top of the building was beautiful and blown mind. My only concern was with the long queue. I have a card that indicates I have a disability and can't stand for long periods. When I explained this, the first person I asked said they couldn't help. Thankfully, a second person saw my distress and was kind enough to provide a seat for me while I waited. This made a huge difference. Thank you to that helpful staff member. I hope the castle considers better ways to assist people with disabilities in the future.

Newly reopened Norwich castle 2025. Well worth the visit, it's a combination of walking around a historical castle, museum exhibits and artefacts, fine art, natural history and a WW2 exhibit. There are screenplays/shows in the great hall which briefly go over the history of the castle, and there are good views out the windows and across the battlements. All items in exhibits are labelled and described, and there are display boards around the actual castle interior explaining parts of daily medieval life or the significance of certain design/areas of the castle. There are historical arms and armour on display if after pieces for artistic reference. The well is very very deep.
Andrew B — Google review
It was great to see the castle after the recent renovations. It's a fine building with some great exhibits and interactive elements for children. The views from the battlements are great, especially on a clear day. It's a bit pricey and there's no senior citizen discounts, otherwise it would be five stars

What an amazing place right on our doorstep. I've lived in Norwich 10 years and never been to the castle and what a gem of a place this is. I can't say how much it's improved since it's renovation, but wow there's so much to see! From the basement to the battlement they have honestly outdone themselves. We didn't get a chance to see it all sadly as we had two toddlers, but what we did see was amazing and definitely worth the price of admission.

I brought my 1 year old daughter here today. We had a lovely couple of hours exploring and taking some lovely photos. My only criticism is that we couldn't get around the whole castle as the lifts were out of order. My daughter was on her trike, and I wasn't prepared to carry her up and down stairs. We explored the museum and what we could of the castle. Plenty of activities for children. Very friendly and informative staff :)

A very popular venue for a wedding ceremony and it's easy to see why! Norwich Castle, recently referbished is a gorgeous wedding ceremony venue. Slap bang in the centre of the city, it gives stunning views of the city, and the room is beatiful. Have a peek at the images to see what your wedding ceremony could look like!

Renovation work was excellent. Museum very good- certainly the Norfolk regiment one. Not into art or taxidermy but if you are there is a lot to see. Videos in the great room are informative. A little disappointed that there are no images of before restoration and the after work- would have been great to know the transformation if never visited prior imo. Well worth a visit.

Elm Hill is a historic cobblestone lane in Norwich, known for its quaint coffee, tea, and book shops housed in Tudor period buildings. The street dates back to the Tudor era and many of its buildings were reconstructed after a fire in 1507. Elm Hill is a major landmark with various shops, galleries, tea houses, and The Britons Arms restaurant.
Beautiful historic street lined on both sides with half timbered Tudor buildings. The charming architecture, cheerful colours and selection of independent shops, galleries and restaurants make this a delightful place to walk through. A historic gem of Norwich, and pleasantly quiet on the February morning I visited.

Pleasant well preserved old road in Norwich situated near the river and the Cathedral. Film crews often use this for historical programs. Worth a visit.

Such a charming and magical street! ✨ Elm Hill feels like stepping back in time — the cobbled street, the old houses with their crooked roofs, and the little independent shops create a truly fairy-tale atmosphere. It’s one of the most picturesque places in Norwich — perfect for a peaceful walk, photography, or just enjoying the beauty of this historic corner of the city. Every detail here feels special, from the ivy-covered walls to the lovely vintage shop windows. If you visit Norwich, don’t miss Elm Hill. It’s beautiful in any season, but especially magical in the early morning or at sunset, when the light makes it look like a scene from an old movie. 🌿💫

Norwich Theatre Royal, an elegant art deco venue, offers a diverse lineup of performances including drama, musicals, dance, and live music. The theater's rich history dates back to 1758 and has undergone several renovations over the years. In addition to its own offerings, Norwich is home to several other notable theaters such as Norwich Puppet Theatre and The Playhouse.
Front circle row D seat 💺 29. The peaky blinders show was good. And the view great. The seats have a nice amount of leg room for a theatre 🎭 and it was not too hot 🔥 inside when the show was almost sold out and the tempreture🌡was 30°c + outside. The rows seem well staggered so I think you would have a good view from most seats.

Nice and clean. Without half an hour waiting near ladies room. Drinks served quickly and a little fresh air you can get on a balcony over break time too.

Excellent performance of Hamilton this evening. Acting, staging, choreography, and vocal performances were very impressive. If you haven't seen this - try to book but be quick...there cannot be many tickets left 🎶

Wow, what can I say. I have been to many many stages shows, but this was one of the best productions I have ever seen. Chicago is incredible, amazing, and just awesome. Jeanette Manrara and Djalenga Scott were super stars, fantastic. Sinitta, beautiful, perfect. Darren Day unforgettable. The dancers were just incredibly. As for the band / orchestra, I could listen to them every single night, they were also incredibly. The whole production was just the best. Thank you to Norwich for such a marvellous show. Who needs to go to London!!!

I'm 6'3 but was able to sit comfortably with plenty of legroom in the seat. The show we attended was fantastic with plenty of real rain as one of the special effects! Update. Just seen Les Mis. Wow!

Always have an amazing experience here. Have seen many shows and have more booked. Easy to park and easy access
Sara S — Google review
Packed in like sardines no legroom , unable to see key part of stage despite this being an unrestricted seat. Best to go to the ladies towards the end of the interval as queues at every one at beginning. To be honest they have removed vital aisles and restricted escapeways and every inch of space is crowded with a full theatre. Norwich has outgrown this theatre asa primary venue. Some shows are designed for larger london stages and dont always translate well to a smaller stage.
Fairview — Google review
The staff at the Theatre were so kind and sympathetic. I explained that my wife recently had an operation which meant she may require to access the 'facilities' more often. Despite the show being sold out they managed to shift our seats. They could not have been more helpful. The seating was comfortable with plenty of legroom. The performance of Hamilton was sensational!! All in all a great night out was had by all🤩

We went as a part of a volunteer group which i am part of , to see the new exhibition they have got on it's called can we survive the sea . Really good exhibition of the potential sea rises and the impact on local communities that live on island's on this planet and how they cope with tsunami's which are set off by earthquake's. But also coastal erosion that the Norfolk coastline suffers each year . All free but Donations are extremely grateful.

Every visit to SCVA is inspiring and stunning. Really enjoyed the current temp exhibitions looking at climate action and conservation of the oceans, such moving and beautiful work. Can't wait to come back soon

Great all-round experience. Wide variety of exhibits. Juxtaposition of pieces was stimulating and an engaging feature was where soundscapes were paired with some of the items. This led to those sculptures being experienced in a fuller way. Staff were attentive and there was an opportunity to be guided around. Setting of the Centre is picturesque. Well worth a visit.
Paul R — Google review
So much better than I thought it would be. A wonderful wide range of art and artifacts. The interactive displays were a nice touch. The current temporary exhibition was brilliant. Tickets by donation and we had a lovely coffee and cake in the cafe. It was nice wondering around the outside sculptures. No wait to enter and not too busy for a weekend day. My only trouble was parking. There were no spaces left and we had to park in a different car park at a different building, the ticket machine was also broke. Other than that, great day out.
Laura C — Google review
The Sainsbury Centre has very good temporary exhibitions (including a really good ocean one on at the moment) and the permanent collection contains some fantastic and engaging pieces. We were happy to donate a good amount for the upkeep of an important place.
Ollie F — Google review
A lovely ground floor exhibition space involving a wide array of historical artefacts from all over the world, mixed with some amazing modern art, including some ten Francis Bacon paintings, Giacometti and Picasso. The upper and lower floors were less impressive, in my opinion, but that's just a matter of taste, I guess.

Sights & Landmarks
The Pavilion Theatre is a 510-seater entertainment venue located at the end of Cromer Pier, a historic Victorian structure known for withstanding various challenges throughout its existence. The theatre hosts live cabaret, comedy performances, and a bar for visitors to enjoy. It is famous for being the home of the UK's only remaining traditional end-of-the-pier variety show that takes place every Summer and Winter.
As one of the last remaining ‘End-Of-The-Pier’ shows in the country, this is well worth a visit. Great quality singing, dancing and entertainment provides a lovely experience for anyone visiting Cromer. There’s something for everyone and some great drinks in the bar too :) Looking forward to visiting again in the winter!

Probably the best variety show I have ever seen. Pure joy! Please be aware that this is the last surviving 'End of The Pier' show in Britain. If you want this huge piece of British culture to continue , GO! Better than therapy. The Pavilion Theatre, Cromer, Norfolk... You should be a prescribed medication.

Just returned from a brilliant night out at the Cromer Pier Show, the last remaining end of the pier summer show. And you can certainly understand why it's survived as it was a smashing night out with something for everyone. The whole cast were amazing but there must be a special mention for host Ben Nickless, who l've seen perform previously in panto where he was equally brilliant and lead vocalist Kristel Herrera, who could grace any West End stage. Well done to North Norfolk District Council for their continued investment in this amazing theatre. Oh, and go see the show, you won't be disappointed.

Cromer Beach is a quintessential Victorian seaside town located on the north Norfolk coast, offering a long pebble-and-sand beach with a promenade and chalk cliffs. The iconic pier features a Pavilion Theatre, while the area also boasts excellent fish and chips, independent cafes and restaurants, amusements, a lifeboat station and museum. Visitors can enjoy water sports, lifeguard-patrolled areas, stunning cliff-top walks, and an array of nearby shops.
Had a lovely short break to Cromer Beach. The area has a real buzz to it with a nice beach, plenty of local shops, and of course classic fish and chips by the sea. It really had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway, made even better by the great weather. Perfect spot for a simple, enjoyable break.

A nice English beach. The pier looks good. The Life boat part was interesting. We didn't spend too much time as it was quite cold and very windy. But overall, and in better weather, I think it's a good place to relax.

The people of Norfolk are some of the loveliest in England; so warm, friendly and kind. Cromer beach was clean, dog friendly and with lovely soft sand. A little pebbly leading into the sea so take some crocks or something! But a great beach with great little food places alongside with seating to overlook the sea. Will definitely go back next summer:)

Beatiful beach short walk from Cromer centre. Clean well maintained long stretch of sand, some pebbles and takeaway food stalls. Fantastic Victorian pier. Promenade walk also a pleasant experience
Jon S — Google review
Lovely beach but difficult to get down to the promenade for someone with a disability. Would need a strong grip on a wheelchair although the slope was less steep at the pier entrance. Plenty of signs to warn against touching the brown-tailed moth caterpillars, pretty to look at though.

Felbrigg Hall, Gardens & Estate is a stunning 15th-century mansion surrounded by a vast estate featuring a lake and woodland. Managed by the National Trust, this historic hall boasts fine Jacobean architecture, stained glass windows, original features, and a beautiful Georgian interior. The colorful walled garden is considered one of the best in Norfolk, complemented by an 18th-century Orangery and expansive orchards within the 500-acre parkland.
This National Trust estate has probably the best walled gardens we have ever seen at any of the National Trust sites we have visited. Plenty of rooms to see in the house with volunteers in all the rooms ready to give answers to any questions. Plenty of catering facilities, so no problem get a snack Got beautiful walks with lovely views. Highly recommend a visit to Felbrigg.

Much more to see and do than we anticipated. Enormous estate with lots of opportunities for walkers. Fabulous walled gardens with dovecote. Huge variety of plants and vegetables. Interesting house. Lovely courtyard area for coffee, snacks etc. Obligatory NT shop. We wanted to walk to the lake but there's not a single sign directing you too it. The paper map's not helpful. Used Google maps to find it. Lovely peaceful spot.

Fantastic walled garden. Once of the best I've visited. Great for a chilled relaxing day out. They do a great pot of tea too. Plenty of parking and easily accessible toilets too.

We arrived and had a tasty snack at the cafe, then spent the rest of the day exploring g the grounds. They are really well set up and we could easily have spent longer exploring. There is a lo ely lake that had swans and older cygnets on it, mushrooms in the woodland, a beautiful church and butterflies in the grasses. Beautiful!

Sheringham Beach

Outdoor Activities
Sheringham Beach is a popular and picturesque destination in North Norfolk, surrounded by wooded areas that offer opportunities for exploration. The shoreline is a mix of sand, shingle, and cobbles, with a promenade running along behind it. At the west end of the beach, there's a charming boating lake to enjoy.
Sheringham Beach offers a truly unique coastal experience, vastly different from the sandy and tropical beaches of Southeast Asia. With its rugged, rocky shoreline and dramatic waves, this beach showcases the untamed beauty of the North Sea. Swimming is strictly prohibited here due to the rocky terrain and strong currents, but the beach has its own charm. The crashing waves against the boulders, coupled with the sight of offshore wind turbines on the horizon, create a stunning and memorable scene. This is a perfect spot for a refreshing walk, exploring the rocky landscape during low tide, or simply enjoying the powerful and raw beauty of nature. The contrast between the wild, cold seaside atmosphere and the tropical beaches of Southeast Asia makes Sheringham Beach an intriguing destination for travelers looking to experience something entirely different. If you’re seeking a unique perspective on coastal beauty, Sheringham Beach is a fascinating place to visit. Just be sure to dress warmly to fully enjoy the windy, invigorating atmosphere!

Have not been here for a while, the steam train is good to go on it gets super busy though, It's a beautiful small seaside with some shops places to eat. Plenty of toilets close to the beach The beach itself is very pebbly a bit of pain getting in out of the water, doesn't have as much nice soft sand like other beaches but despite all that it's still a nice beach to enjoy just not one or my top beaches
Michelle H — Google review
A great beach if you can time it when the tide is out. We parked right on the front and if you head down the coast there are dog friendly stretches. Not too busy even on a gorgeous sunny Sunday. Enjoy!

A lovely beach area, sandy but with a pebbly section next to the sea wall. The sea is warm and clear. There is a section flagged for swimming with lifeguard on duty. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for hire and there a are a few beach bars/cafes offering snacks and drinks and there are also FREE public loo's nearby. Only a short wander from the main high street. Worth a visit
Alison J — Google review
Lovely beach and town. Can park for free near boating lake if you are early enough. Dogs not allowed on the main beach in the summer, only far west and far east of the town. Not much sand when the tide is on the turn or coming in, lots of shingle and stones at the top. Some good waves when the wind is good, some people body boarding. Place to rent Paddle Boards too. Nice wide promenade a lovely walk. Especially when the sun is shining 😊☀️ Lots.of places along the promenade for ice creams and coffee. Recommend the cakes and cappuccino at Salt Cafe.

Scenic Railroads
The North Norfolk Railway, affectionately known as the "Poppy Line," is a charming slice of history nestled in the heart of Norfolk. This preserved 19th-century railway station offers visitors an enchanting journey aboard vintage steam and diesel locomotives. The scenic route stretches 10.5 miles from Sheringham to Holt, showcasing breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the picturesque landscapes that define this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Fantastic day out. We managed 4 rides between Sheringham and Holt and enjoyed a picnic at Holt. Refreshments are available at each station, and the kids enjoy the model railways, shops, and museums to see on the platforms. Staff were helpful and welcoming, and the railway was beautifully restored. We can't wait to come back.

I was staying in Norwich and found out the 1940’s weekend was on here so decided to visit. I caught the train from Norwich to Sheringham and caught my first steam train of the day. I got off at Holt where there was a large field with various stands selling vintage stuff and also themed entertainment. Later I caught the train to Weybourne another lovely restored old station. The carriages and engines are immaculate and the journey is pretty. Highly recommended even without the event.
Lorraine — Google review
I've been to Sheringham many times and never been on the railway before. It was a thoroughly charming experience. So nice to travel in the old style coaches and the station at Holt was lovely. All the staff were helpful and looked spot on.
David R — Google review
The train ride is shorter than we imagined but the kids enjoyed spotting pheasant and other wild creatures along the route. The staff were most helpful with recommendations on which stops were worth getting off at. We went to the last stop and spent a few hours in the town of Holt. There's a small museum at the station which kids can interact with. It's a short bus ride to the town centre but a rather long walk. Would certainly recommend but perhaps wait for the bus if timings allow especially if you have young legs.
Melinda ( — Google review
A fantastic day out for all the family, unlimited rides on some great trains through the countryside. Plenty of parking especially at Holt at only £3 . Good food to be had at the station in Sheringham . Very friendly staff and dogs welcome. Plenty to see and do , and can’t wait to visit again .
Dougie W — Google review
Unlimited trips on the 2 steam and 1 diesel trains through the beautiful North Norfolk countryside. Really friendly and helpful volunteers keep the railway running and the museum at Holt is packed with useful facts.
Simon W — Google review
Great experience on the Steaming Sunday trip from Sheringham to Holt and back! Beautiful steam engine and a great trip down the line in the glorious November sun. Only thing that would have made it better was a little more communication from the volunteers on boarding/disembarking times, as well as finding seats.
Jack A — Google review
Lovely, friendly heritage railway line that runs from Sheringham and Holt. The line is 5.25 miles long and has a total of 4 stations with one being a simple halt. The railway has a number of steam locomotives in service as well as heritage diesel locomotives including a class 37 & 31 plus a diesel electric multiple unit. The line is also know as the poppy line, its has some stunning views that go from pine trees to views across fields to the sea as you approach Sheringham. There are various facilities at the stations including refreshments,a gift shop and toilet facilities. The main engine sheds and works are at Weybourne but access to the depot is not available. There is a National Trust pathway you can join from the platform by the signal box that will enable you to view some if the engines and rolling stock in the depot. Parking is available at Sheringham which is chargeable or at Holt which is free with a suggested donation if £3. At Holt you will also find a former railwaymans cottage, it's well worth paying a visit here and has guides who can tell you the story of the folk that lived there.

Sheringham Park, a 1000-acre National Trust garden in Norfolk, is a masterpiece designed by renowned landscape designer Humphry Repton. The park boasts mature woodlands and an impressive variety of rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias, pieris, maples, and other tree species. Visitors can climb the 192-step Gazebo for breathtaking views of the North Norfolk coast and surrounding landscapes.
This park is a real NT treasure! By far one of the best parks I've visited, Young trees and scrubs are well looked after, beautiful array of plants and flowers, easy path routes to follow, spectacular views of the sea and Sherringham house, if you have children a great place for them to run around, learn about nature and find bugs and even fairies houses! Dogs welcome too, such a fantastic park, I enjoyed immensely
Bexsi — Google review
Wow what an absolute stunning hidden gem! I visited on a Friday Morning around 9am with my dog. It was very easy to find, the car park had plenty of parking. Parking is free for National Trust Members and for non-members it is £6.50 for the whole day, the machines accept card and coin payment. There are toilets a short walk away from the car park which have an open accessible entrance and disabled, women, baby changing and men’s. There is also a cafe and a second hand bookshop, the cafe has a courtyard and a dog hydration station with water for pups, I didn’t try out the cafe as I was unsure if dogs were allowed inside to allow me to order, this could be made clearer on signage. All routes start and end at the same place making it ideal for people like myself who prefer circular walks. There are 3 routes varying in length. On this occasion, we took the Blue route. This route was on a solid path for the majority of the way with some hills. After walking past the loose cattle, the route continues on grass, up a very steep hill and up some steep steps. There are two benches at the top of the steps to take a breath afterwards! The route itself showcased some absolutely incredible views of the sea and surrounding fields. It was very easy to follow with small blue arrows showing you which way to go frequently so we never lost our way. Also there are a number of benches throughout the route so you can take in some of the views. I will definetely be returning and look forward to plenty more walkies here with my dog! Note- there are no poo bins/general waste bins on the blue route apart from at the very beginning.

Really lovely park - spent a sunny few hours walking round, enjoying views, forest paths and flora and fauna. So peaceful. It does have areas where path inclines down and have to climb back. There are areas where cows roam. Picnic area near entrance, small cafe and clean toilets. These photos are from previous visit but view hasn't changed.
Grace S — Google review
Had a nice walk here with our two dogs. Just a word of warning, the car park only lets you pay cash and it’s £6:50 for all day parking and no change given. We looked at the map and decided to take the red route, but didn’t do the part where you walk up to the coast, instead we carried straight on at the gazebo. It was still a 6km walk! We had the dog pram with us and most of the route it was fine under foot, if not a little bumpy in places. It was all well signposted until the final section where we came to a sign saying we were leaving the grounds and no safe access to the car park. We retraced our steps and realized we needed to walk across the field to continue on the red trail and the path wasnt that well walked so no wonder we missed it. Once across the field there was a series of steps, which we werent expecting. We did manage, after a bit of an effort to get the dogs and the pram up the steps and continue on our way. Overall a good walk and the dogs were tired (as was I) at the end of the walk.

Directions could be a bit better after the two cattle grids. It signs left but there is no path. I used google maps! On this route the steps are rather taxing. The first section of the walk is stunning.

Huge park renowned for its rhododendrons but equally just as stunning during the autumn, spring & winter. Well worth a look!

Wow, what a place! Absolutely stunning, clean and so peaceful. My only advice is, if you have a pram do NOT take the blue route (our mistake). I can’t believe you only have to pay for parking and nothing else! We had a lovely morning!
