Local-feeling museum across two floors that was heavily indexed on World War II, and felt like a collection of models and objects vs. a narrative story or overview of maritime in Crete. We spent about 30-35 minutes wandering through, not doing in depth reading as the English signs were a little off given typos or unclear meaning given the vocabulary or phrasing used. It also felt extremely nationalistic Greek at times (to the point of almost being propaganda). There is also no AC and some rooms without fans, so wouldn’t go at the hotter times of day. However it’s like a good fit if you like ship models or World War II objects, as there were many ship models (centuries ago through World War II), and unique WWII objects to see like radars, binoculars, uniforms, photos, and a small model of a destroyer bridge. It’s located on the edge of the Venetian harbour and has good views from the upper floor. Other people were there but it didn’t feel overly crowded. Toilets available upstairs, which were stocked and mostly clean. No cafe or drinks onsite.

As I moved through the rooms, I was struck by the sense of continuity from the ancient Minoan sailors to the Venetian fleets and the brave Cretan seafarers of World War II. The museum isn’t just a collection of artefacts; it’s a story of courage, resilience, and identity told through ships, maps, and photographs. The detailed ship models, handcrafted with care, seemed almost alive, as if ready to sail into history once more. What touched me most was the balance between pride and melancholy. The sea, which brought trade and connection, also carried conflict and loss — and the museum captures that duality beautifully.

This musuem hold an outstanding array of memorabilia, model ships, pictures and paintings, shells, nautical instruments etc. on two floors, so there are stairs to climb. It costs €4 for an adult ticket and there is no time limit to your visit. There are public toilets on the first floor. There is lots of information to read, and a video to watch (with English subtitles), however there are a few exhibits with information only in Greek. Overall a good couple of hours.

Visited this museum with a couple hours spare during a few days in Chania and was pleasantly surprised. Cheap entry (less than £5 equivalent), and a myriad of exhibitions on Chania and Greece's naval history (militarily and otherwise). Some of the exhibition boards are woefully out of date and I'm pretty sure there's at least one board which is borderline offensive with regards to how it speaks about non-orthadox religions, in particular Islam. Broadly the layout of the museum on the ground floor is sensible, by era - though you do have to move non-intuitively to do it 'in order'. Upstairs is where the real showpiece of the museum is (for me) - the content, artefacts, ancdotes, and exhibits on the World Wars are fascinating and worth the admission price alone. I wouldn't visit again - but would reccomend it for anyone interested in finding out more about Greece's military history on water and its complicated relationship with naval tradition.

An interesting and very patriotic maritime museum in the centre of Chania. Quite old fashioned, lacking much of a narrative and heavily reliant on ship models. It's good value at only 5 euros for adults. I found the English translations very funny though because of how terrible they are, many errors and it uses soaring patriotic language which made me laugh.

An impressive collection of models as well as other memorabilia making the visit certainly worth. One can walk through very fast (30 minutes) but equally can spend 2 hours if interested in details. Note worthy is the location as well as the views from the windows.

Well-designed and interesting museum, even though some of the texts are only in Greek. Small, but definitely worth a visit.

Wonderfull unique beach. The climb down is steep but fine and generally safe if you are with normal shoes and carefull. The water is clear and beautiful. There are also rocks from which you can jump off in to the water. The road to the beach is good (bit steep at the end) and the parking is a bit rugged. All on all I would highly recommend visiting this beach as early in the day as possible.

Seitan Limania has a beautiful view when you arrive, but the access is very difficult for people with reduced mobility, we had to go down a cliff to arrive at the beach, for us, the beach was amazing but the water was milky and the place is very small for the amount of people. In the beach you can climb rocks for cliff jumping. The beach is also good for snorkeling, there are a lot of fish.

Such natural beauty, but you gotta work to make it there. Do not wear sandals, you will instantly regret it There are 2 was to go down, one has a chain that gives you something to grab, and the other route has small red + white markers that indicate the path Water was beautiful

Nice hike! Not very difficult, 10-15 minutes walk - so worth it! It is crowded but in my opinion it’s not that bad and you can always find a quiet spot. There are some cool rocks you can jump from. Very nice day trip

What a visit this was 🤩 The beach is quite hidden and you have to hike down a pretty rocky and steap path to access the crystal clear water. It’s feels a bit out of this world to float around there.

Stunning beach with crystal clear water and breathtaking views! The hike down is challenging and tricky so good sneakers are highly recommended; I tried it in slippers and definitely wouldn’t suggest it. Going back up is easier than going down, but you still need to be very careful.. because of this and since the water gets deep very quickly, I wouldn’t recommend it for children. The beach itself is small but absolutely worth the effort, one of the most dreamy beaches. Definitely a must visit!

A gorgeous little beach that we had the luck to have all to ourselves. Unfortunately we visited in November so we didn't really go for a swim but still we enjoyed the climb and the beach.

Paralia Aponisos is a beautiful and peaceful spot on Agistri Island, offering crystal-clear waters and stunning natural scenery. Unlike the adjacent private islet of Aponisos, which charges an entrance fee (€6) for access to sunbeds, umbrellas, and food facilities, this beach area is completely free. Getting There: Paralia Aponisos is about a 15–20 minute drive from Skala, the island’s main port town. The route follows Agistri’s main road — it’s narrow but in good condition and very easy to navigate. Once you arrive, you can park conveniently right near the beach. The Experience: The beach itself is small, but the surrounding rocks offer plenty of spots to lay down a towel and relax, even though you’ll be lying on rocks rather than sand. The water is incredibly clear, with the feeling of a natural pool — really something out of a movie. The seabed is rocky for the first 20–30 meters, then turns into soft sand with beautifully transparent water, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. When we visited in early May, it was very peaceful and uncrowded, with only a handful of people around. Just be aware that during peak summer months (July and August), it likely gets much busier. Facilities and Surroundings: Behind the beach there’s a small port area and a food establishment (a bar/café), so you have options for refreshments nearby. To the side, you’ll see the private islet of Aponisos, which you can reach via a concrete platform. On the islet, for a fee, you’ll find organized facilities like sunbeds, umbrellas. Just a heads-up: directly behind the small sandy part of the beach, there’s a small port area, along with the road and a parking area for scooters and cars. This does take a little away from the feeling of untouched nature, since you’re not completely secluded. Still, the beach itself is so beautiful and the water so clear that you’ll probably enjoy it there anyway — once you’re swimming or relaxing by the sea, it’s easy to forget about what’s behind you. Final Thoughts: Paralia Aponisos offers a stunning, clear-water swimming spot with easy access and a laid-back vibe. Whether you want to snorkel, swim, or just relax on the rocks, it’s a fantastic place to spend a few hours. Just keep in mind that it’s not a sandy beach, and it may be much busier in the high season. We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend visiting if you’re in Agistri.

Best beach of the island in terms of views and facilities. Entry with umbrella and regular sunbed is 6€ per person, and they have plenty (I’d say at least 100). If you want a set with cushion sunbeds (more comfy) it’s 5€ more (2,5€ per person). Considering the beach and the views, it’s excellent value for money. Very important: if you want, you can contact them to reserve sunbeds without additional fees, to make sure they are available when you arrive. This might be very useful especially during the weekends, where there are many more people and it might be hard to find available sunbeds. There is a beach bar with some food and drink options, and you can order directly from your sunbed through a button which calls a server without additional charge, very nice. The water is fantastic, there is both a shallow and a deep area, and you can also rent a kayak to explore the bay. Overall, I highly recommend, one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to, particularly nice after 5pm when most people have gone away and it’s quieter. Side note about the bus: as per July 2025, there are 2 (occasionally 3) buses that go from Skala to Aponissos, stopping by Megalochori, Dragoneira and Limenaria. The timetables are displayed on site, but it’s usually once an hour. While during the week you can manage to catch the bus in the morning (either the tourist bus for 5€ or the regular bus for 2€), during the weekend it’s almost impossible to catch one before 13:00, and there are very few taxis on the island, so I recommend be prepared for that maybe by reserving in advance or by renting a scooter. Conversely, catching the bus to go back in the afternoon, especially after 18, is much easier.

- It’s a private beach with 6Euro entrance fee. The fee includes sunbed with shade (no mattress- with mattress you pay 5Euro/2 person more and if with bed and cover- 10Euro). - However the access to the water is free as it can be access before the entrance. Out of that area there are 2 restaurants and many shade below trees. - Good service and perfect organization. Stay and press the button, they will come to get your order. Price is reasonable. - They also provide some stuff on the water for you to have fun. - The beach is sandy (still rocks here and there but still). About 6km from Skala.

It is a very beautiful place with lovely surroundings. The water is clear and great for swimming. However, admission to the sun loungers costs €6 per person, and a sun lounger costs an additional €10 per person. The front sun loungers in the first row are even more expensive. .

A very pretty beach with crystal clear water. There is a private beach side, cost of entry is 5€ which includes a sunbed. The customer service is very friendly and quick with reasonable prices. There is also a free area where you can lay down towels and rest under tree shades.

Beautiful beach. You don't need to cross the bridge in order to enjoy the beautiful water. Be aware that the sand is rocky and Not sutible for barefoot. Lots of urchin!

I think this is the best beach in Poros island. Trees provide shade and environment up to where the water starts. It is organised and you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds. Food and drinks are also available with prices the same like elsewhere. If you wish a good spot it is advisable to go as early as 10 o'clock in the morning.

Extremely disappointing experience. The staff was shockingly rude, the worst treatment we've received in 15 years of visiting beaches in Greece. Poor service, zero hospitality. Definitely not the Greek welcome we’re used to. Would not recommend.

The bay is absolutely gorgeous - crazy clear green waters, lots of fish to observe. This is unfortunately shadowed by poor customer service from there staff and over inflated prices for sunbeds. The staff is eager for money that they invoke some non-existing law that they cannot keep your already paid sunbed for more than 30 minutes. The worst customer experience ever in Greece.

Nice water, nice beach, but the services leave a lot to be desired. In the pure Greek commercial spirit, you pay 20 euros for a lounger, but if you leave more than 30 minutes because you don't want to eat extra lunch from them, you've lost your seats. And that wouldn't even be the problem, but the fact that this "rule" is not posted anywhere or communicated in advance...just Greece ;)

It is a petite cute beach that is excellent for quiet relaxing time. The bay is surrounded by deep vegetation which ensured its privacy. That is how the name came. It is very popular with couples or even people who prefers quiet calm environment. The water is sea green, clear. The sand is a little red to brown but sandy. The bay water is also calm enough, making it a perfect place for holidays and romantic outings. A narrow road surrounds the bay, but there is not much traffic in it. The bay has shower and drinking facilities.

Nice little beach with catch name. The waters look nice from above, but when you get in, you'll realize they are pretty muddy. OK for 1 time but it wouldn't be my favorite beach. The beach bar offer some sunbeds but at full season it's very very crowded.

It was my long walk on New Year's day, came all the way from the port that's downtown Poros & it was absolutely stunning! No wonder it's crowded in the summer, there were others enjoing a little picnic on the same day, such a quiet lovely place with crystal clear waters, looking forward to visiting again in the summer!

It's a beautiful temple, which I highly recommend visiting to learn about its historical significance. It's one of the three temples in the "Sacred Triangle." Admission is 10 euros and also gives you access to the museum.

Beautifully maintained Temple of the Goddess Aphaia, a mysterious figure local to Aegina and sometimes Crete. Pausanias (2nd c. CE) records that the Aeginetans called Britomartis “Aphaia. The Temple is really well-preserved and maintained. Admission is 10 Euro. Go early in the morning to avoid the buses and crowds. Taxis do go up here.

I like to call this island pistachio island. Everywhere you go including the beautiful temple of Aphaia are pistachios. Beautiful views and I would love to go here in the evening to take in the view of Athens. Amazing views.

A must-see if you’re visiting Aegina! The Temple of Aphaia is beautifully preserved and stands on a hill with an absolutely stunning view over the sea and even the mainland on a clear day. It’s quiet, peaceful, and feels very authentic compared to the crowded sites in Athens. Totally worth the 20-minute ride from the main port — it gives a real sense of ancient Greece. And after your visit, don’t miss grabbing a pistachio ice cream from the little shop right next to the site — Aegina’s specialty and the perfect way to end the visit!

It was okay. Maybe a lot better if we didn't walk a mile straight up to get there. Ruins with a small tourist store. Interesting information tables throughout. Lots of cats roaming around begging for food. Cost $10 euros to explore site. Very nice view from the top. Several tour busses were visiting at the same time as we were there.

It wasn’t that easy to get here - the ferry and then the taxi. But it’s worth it because of its more than 2.5K history and no need to jostle with other tourists. We got all the photos we wanted. The cats were very friendly once they knew we had cat food

It is a beautiful ancient temple well preserved. I don't know about the entrance cost because EU citizens under 25 have free entrance upon showing their ID. Highly recommend

I didn’t quite u destined this is not accessible by a car or a buggy and drove all the way out to see it only to find a single track hiking trail. I guess I should have researched this better. The road to get to it is pretty rough as it is first a paved road and then a dirt road. Then it gets pretty rough and then to find out I don’t get to see without hiking was disappointing. Next time I come to see the island I will arrange a boat tour to see this!

A boat trip to Kleftiko is an absolute must-do while visiting Milos. We did a catamaran trip with Polco Sailing and it was one of the best days we had in Greece. The water is clear and warm, the history of the area is so interesting, and the rock formations are stunning.

Really the best way to get here is through a boat tour. I went with a great group. The waters were clear and fairly calm. Since it's October it was fairly chilly but the sun was shining so the cool water was welcome.

Beautiful spot in Milos that can only be reached by boat. Enjoyed anchoring and spending the afternoon there, swimming, and taking in the beauty of the rock formations

go by car and then walk on the designated road, I assume that 90% of the length of the car road is better quality than anywhere else on the island. We went with a Fiat Panda without any problems. When we arrived on foot at the shore, the boat tourers were surprised how we got there on foot...

Absolutely stunning! My husband and I made the hike down and brought our goggles with us. We were able to swim to the caves and have a great snorkeling experience, as well as comfortably relax on in the private rock area at the end of the hike. Definitely recommend!

Visiting the Acropolis was honestly one of the highlights of my trip to Athens. No matter how many pictures you’ve seen, nothing really prepares you for standing up there in person. The view over the city is incredible — you can see the whole of Athens stretching out below, with the sea glimmering in the distance. I went early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds, and that was definitely the right move. Climbing up is not too hard, but wear comfy shoes and bring water — the stones can be slippery. Once you reach the top, the Parthenon and the other ancient temples feel almost unreal. You can actually feel the history around you, it’s crazy to think how long these structures have been standing. The atmosphere is peaceful, especially if you take a moment to just sit and look around. The Acropolis Museum nearby is also worth a visit — it’s modern, cool, and helps you understand what you’re seeing up there. Overall, it’s an absolute must-see in Athens. Go early, take your time, and enjoy the view — it’s one of those experiences that truly stays with you. 🇬🇷✨

What can I say? One of the most iconic archaeological sites in the entire world. An absolute must visit,come early at 8am either with a guided tour or with pre book tickets because it gets very busy as you'd expect. We visited in late October,it was 24c which was perfect weather. Our visit was with a guide from Viator. I will visit again just so I can explore the slopes which we didn't have the chance too.

You know the feeling when you feel that you are in a special place, where something important for the human race happened there, that's the feeling here! A place that I saw so many times in the books, finally in front of me. Different kind of emotion, amazed by what people could build with such different instruments from the one we have now with the progress of the technology.

The entrance fee is €30, and you can buy tickets online (highly recommended to avoid queues). It’s best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds. I bought my ticket for 11 a.m. because earlier slots were sold out, and walking around while constantly dodging people wasn’t the best experience. Still, the place is absolutely incredible — no matter how many photos you’ve seen before, it never stops amazing you. Definitely worth the visit.

A phenomenal experience that you simply have to live through. We had tickets in advance online, and at the entrance we waited about 5 minutes. There was a crowd, but it was still pleasant. Bring water—the walk is naturally tiring and steep, and at the top the sun really beats. Enjoy the view of the vast city of Athens from above, as well as the history and the remains that are indescribable to see, knowing that someone lived there so long ago, and just like this. Fascinating! Remains from the earliest settlements, as well as from the later sanctuary, offer countless things to see and enjoy.

How do you rate this any less than five stars? So much history and beauty in one place. I have mobility issues and thank goodness the elevator was working!! Scary ride up, but so worth it!! The entire time we were there, we felt speechless! Absolutely awe inspiring!!

I couldn't believe it but this place is over 2500 years old and it's still standing. The idea that it was built on this tall hill made it even more awesome. The history was interesting too. I learned the Athenians were welcomed inside whenever enemies were approaching. We had an excellent tour leader, too.

A must see if visiting Athens. Its uneven surfaces for parts of it so walking boots are recommended. The Parthenon is very impressive and the View of Athens from the tip shows how big Athens is. Worth getting a guided tour to learn the history of the site.

We've been there at the end of October, which is is probably the best time of the year. Weather is usually still sunny, while at the same time its not too hot. And the Acropolis is not overcrowded even tho you will meet lots of ppl. Keep in mind this is one of the worlds most visited must-see hotspots. You have to book a time slot in advance when you buy the tickets. If your kids are EU citizens and under 18y old, they do not have to pay the current 30 EUR entrance fee! They get free entrance, but passports/IDs are required to proof your citizenship. You can not book these free kids tickets in advance online. So you will have to line up at the two ticket offices. Once at the office you usually wont get instant access. So plan for another 2-3 hours waiting time ahead. We went to the acropolis museum (extra 20 € pp, kids free). Try to visit the museum before you actually visit the Acropolis as you will learn a lot. Once you are on the top you will understand why this place is so special. View is spectecular and you will notice how massive the buildings must have been. Enjoy!

Absolutely stunning!!! You have to pay to get up there, but it is worth it. Incredible views of Athens and observing the scale of these structures blew my mind.

The Parthenon at the Acropolis completed our Athens trip!!! Amazingly beautiful with breathtaking views of the city. The walk up to the top is a bit tiring but it you have a disability card they will let you use the elevator at the North entrance. It’s worth the visit!

The Acropolis/Parthenon experience was nice. The climb up wasn’t so bad (just kind slippery floors and wear shoes with good grip). We bought tickets a day prior for the 6pm slot and were allowed in at 5.45pm. The good: Overall a pretty place. As a history buff, it was a special experience to be standing at a place where so much history was made. Got some nice photos of the structures against the evening sun. There were shaded spots here and there for some respite from the sun. The bad: The €30 ticket price. It isn’t justified given that there are a lot of works actively being done inside. There were a lot of scaffolding and machinery around. The structures were also cordoned off. You just feel like a visitor going through the area and snapping pictures instead of feeling like you’re really experiencing what it must have been like to be up at the Acropolis back then. Some may be okay with this, but I just feel a €20 ticket would make more sense.

Magnificent Greek architecture! The uphill walk with marble stairs was worth it. It’s best to arrive before opening time to avoid the crowds. We were in awe of the ruins, and the view of Athens was incredible.

Simply amazing! As impressive as a wonder of the world. Climbing those marble stairs really makes you understand the grandiosity of this civilization. To add the cherry on top, finally there are no scaffoldings. I would recommend going at the last entry time for the golden hour experience. I also recommend climbing any of the neighboring hills to see the Acropolis from an incredible perspective.

A great stop if you are exploring Athens. The building is modern with huge windows and a clear view of the Acropolis itself. Inside, you will find ancient sculptures, pottery, and a cool glass floor that shows ruins underneath. The top floor has the Parthenon pieces laid out like they were originally placed at scale, and the cafe has a solid view. Easy to enjoy even if you are not a history buff.

We were initially unsure whether to visit the Acropolis Museum, as some reviews claimed it wasn’t worth it. However, we decided to go anyway — and we’re really glad we did. The entrance fee was €20 (current price as of autumn 2025). We went around 6 PM and it was almost empty, with no lines at all. The museum was open until 8 PM, so we had plenty of time to walk around and explore. The museum itself is beautiful. It features an impressive collection of artifacts found on the slopes of the Acropolis, as well as everyday objects from different periods of Athenian history. There are also many statues, architectural fragments from temples, and other fascinating pieces. On top of that, the museum offers lovely views of the Acropolis and the surrounding area. We later found out that there is an audio guide available — just look for the QR code inside the museum. We wish we had noticed it earlier! Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit. We had a great experience.

One of my favorite museum experiences worldwide! Bernard Tschumi’s masterpiece covers Athens historical layers by physically reconstructing them through five different levels. The context and the place in the city are omnipresent and shine through the building. The museum is generously laid out and there’s hardly any waiting times. The flows through the exhibits work smoothly and although there are huge numbers of visitors there is never any feeling of crowding. Full points for this jewel!

Be prepared to be amazed by history where myth and reality are hard to distinguish. Modern, spacious, with a lot of light, this is a big museum, be prepared to spend ~4h if you wanna see everything. I advise people to bring headphones to listen to the audio they offer. Be careful, any backpacks have to be stored in a locker room. And check their cafe, it has a wonderful view! Their shop has a variety of books in several languages.

A very well-thought-out and well-organized museum with beautiful unique exhibits. It uses modern technology in a great way to bring the glory and power of ancient Greece to life. The museum also has a nice café with good service and a view of the Acropolis — not the very best view, as you can see from the photos, but still lovely. Definitely worth a visit!

It's incredible to visually learn about the history of the place and the people - the ART!!! The museum is beautiful and in the evening hours it's lit up and you can see the Acropolis and Parthenon on the hill out the windows and from the large outdoor patio. I spent three hours (with the free audio guide)!

One of the best museums I've visited so far (and I have seen a lot in my 45 years of age). Must see if you visit Acropolis site, only then you will get full picture of this amazing preserved archeological foundings. Unseparable.

Where else but Athens could you expect to find one of the finest collections of ancient artifacts on the planet? The National Archaeological Museum delivers exactly that — an extraordinary assembly of Greek antiquity, laid out with clarity and care. The building itself is a neoclassical jewel, dignified without being pompous, and far more organized than its Roman counterparts, which often collapse into chaos carnivals of statues and signage. No, it’s not a shiny new complex like the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, but that’s part of its charm: history housed in history. The galleries flow logically, the curation is thoughtful, and the sheer range of objects makes it a place you could return to several times and still find something new. And then there’s the courtyard café — a delightful surprise. Where else can you sip a proper coffee or frappé surrounded not only by plants and trees, but also by archaeological fragments keeping you company like silent, well-aged friends? It’s an oasis, half café, half time machine, and one of the most civilised spots in the city. It has, in fact, a similar charm to the National Archaeological Museum of Malta in Valletta — only here, of course, everything is on a grander scale. Just as Greece is larger than Malta, so too is its national museum: equally enchanting, but magnified. In short: a museum that does what a museum should do — celebrate history without suffocating you in it. A must-see in Athens, not just for the artifacts, but for the sense of order, beauty, and calm it offers in the middle of the city.

We went on the first Saturday of the month, so it was free. There are many many treasure in the Museum. I have never seen such a glass display case in any museum, it's as if there is no glass wall there. It's an amazing collection, anyone who is even slightly interested in history or art will spend a lot of time here. I loved every minute of it. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

For history lovers, this is a great collection of archaeological artifacts from different periods of Greek history. Make sure you book your tickets online; otherwise, you’ll be standing in a long line to get in. The museum has multiple levels, and it will take you about 2–3 hours to visit everything. You can take a break on the lower level, where there’s a wonderful cafeteria next to a beautiful terrace.

Here you can see some of the most incredible and important archeological finds in all history. As you walk in your greeted with the death mask of Agamemnon!! The Antikytheran Mechanism is here!! Frescoes from Akritiri!! Do I need to say more?!? This is a once in a lifetime experience.

Being an Arts major, so many things came to life for me in this building. Being able to see the fertility gods up close and seeing the different sizes was impressive. The wall frescos were mesmerizing. The amount of detail on the pots and drying pans.. incredible. The story telling in each piece is so unique and fascinating. Seeing the beautiful statues and being able to stand right next to the ionic columns… phenomenal. We love history and being here was the perfect fitting after having spent the day before at the Acropolis.

A must see when in Athens. One of the most important museums capturing early Western civilization. I do not think it is an accident that the Mycenaean gallery is the first one you see. It is my personal favorite. We should thank Heinrich Schliemann for his foresight and boldness in digging at Mycenae. Of course, you should see the classical Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman exhibits. One caveat: The museum is undergoing a large expansion, and galleries will be closed for construction. However, do not let this be a deterrent to visiting.

I recommend visiting as early as possible to beat the line ups and crowds. This museum is massive and the overcrowding becomes overwhelming and affects the experience within the museum. It is worth visiting if you are interested in Greek history. Be prepared to stand for 4-5 hours plus to visit and listen to the description for the pieces on display. There is air conditioning but it cannot keep up with the massive space. You need to wait in line to purchase tickets, then to check out devices to listen to the audio files. You also have to wait in line to return them. This part is very disorganized. The museum seemed understaffed. Hold tight to your purse, and do not bring any valuables with you. You must check any backpacks on arrival. There is a cafe in the lower level, prices are inflated. I would recommend eating before your visit.

A must go place in Milos. Better visit it in the morning with better sunlight and lesser people. Highly recommended to wear water shoes for easy walking and getting back to shores after swimming. Water is quite cold in October

Went here twice during our weeklong visit to Milos! This place is out of this world — definitely one of my favorite watering holes ever. I’d recommend going for sunrise or sunset to avoid the crowds.

The trip was about an hour and a half from where i'm staying.But after you get out of the hustle and bustle, the trip was awesome. A lot of places you could pull over and take pictures or just pull over and go down to the shore. The temple itself was twenty euros, which seemed kind of high.But I did have a good time and got plenty of pictures.

The temple is beautiful, but the tickets are a little expensive for how much time you can actually spend here. This is definitely one of the best places you can watch the sunset from, though. We went on a semi-cloudy day, and even then the sunset was stunning. There is also a cafe that is nice to take some time to relax at, since if you're staying in Athens it is a bit of a drive.

A beautiful place in itself, but the unjustifiably high price of €20 made us turn back and take a free walk in another part of the peninsula, where the views were just as breathtaking. Is the price of watching the sunset — even next to such a stunning temple — really comparable to the entrance fee for Mycenae, Corinth, or Epidaurus, where, in addition to the ruins, you also visit a museum and get a wealth of information? A highly promoted tourist spot — deservedly so for its amazing views, but not for its price.

This place is just magical during sunset.🌄 It was actually raining when we got there and just before the sunset at 18:30, the weather turned. There was also a beautiful rainbow🌈 Don't buy tickets in advance due to weather conditions, so just buy on the spot.

Visiting the Temple of Poseidon was an unforgettable experience. The temple itself is truly majestic, standing tall for more than 2,000 to 3,000 years and offering a glimpse into the grandeur of ancient Greek history. The surrounding sea views are breathtaking, and when combined with the temple’s presence, it feels almost magical. The highlight of the visit was without doubt the sunset. It is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, with the colors reflecting over the Aegean Sea and the temple glowing in the evening light. The road leading to the temple was also a wonderful part of the journey, with scenic views all along the way. A must-visit when in Greece! 🌅🏛️

The temple on the edge of the sea is a magnificent view. It's definitely worth it to visit. It's not so hard to get to there from Athens with the public transport. You can take the bus to Sunion which cost only 6.20 euros in direction. We took it from the Singrou-fix at around 11 o'clock. The trip to there takes around two hours and the road is very beautiful by the sea. The entrance ticket is 20 euros. There is coffee/restaurant there. The bus will drop you off right to the entrance of the temple.

Nice beach with quite dirty sand but still worth to visit (via boat from Merichas 14 euro both ways). Unfortunately the only place to eat or have water is closed. Also a gate to the church on the hill is closed at the moment and not possible to open it unless you climb the rock fence.

The road to the beach isn’t as bad as people say! You can get there with a regular car – it’s just a bit narrow and unpaved, so if you meet another car you’ll need to coordinate a bit, but with caution you can definitely go with a regular car. No need for a boat, even though lots of people will tell you otherwise The beach is amazing.

Not easy to reach by car as some 200 meters are very narrow even for one car! As there were more the 60 boats and yachts the water was not clear so the swim was less 3 seconds! But this piece of stand land is amazing!

A beautiful special beach with clear water. Unfortunately, due to the closeness of Athens, there is a lot of boats here especially on the weekends. It can get very crowded. There is more pleasant beaches on the island close to this one, so you don’t necessarily need to stay where everybody is staying. On the north western shore there is a little side beach that has a volcanic thermal spring with clear 38° water just on the beach. It is almost hidden and you can only see it when you are walking on the beach.

A place of unreal beauty. For sailing enthusiasts, this is a great place. For many the beginning of long tours and for some safe place and excellent protection from all winds. We have been many times and every time we approach Kolona beach we feel the same charm from the beginning.

A true gem and one of the best experiences on the island! Dimitri has lovingly restored this small olive press museum, bringing his family's legacy back to life. His storytelling is engaging, funny, and moving, offering a fascinating insight into both olive oil production and his personal history. The museum’s small size adds to its charm, making for an intimate and memorable visit. Perfect for spending 1–2 hours, would highly recommend and we would return if we were ever to come back to Andros

This is something that should be considered as a unique experience. It's a story telling via personal experience about how family history comes together with olive oil and restoration of this ancient olive mill. It gives an extra apart that the owner tailors each tour. Size of the museum does not matter, you walk away with great knowledge and really personal touch which often nowadays is lacking. Check the opening times in advance.

This museum is very cute, interesting and personal. The owner runs the tours himself and he is very proud of what he had put together. You can learn a lot about olive oil and you get a feel for the central role it plays in the Greek (and Mediterranean) culture and the importance for its people. It is also interesting for (teenage) children.

Dimitri the owner of his family oil mill was terrific, lots of history and technical information about how things work. The 400 year old building is a very unique structure with architectural stone arches. No entry fee but donations accepted.

I've visited this museum today and it's easily one of the best experiences I've had in a museum even though it's quite small. The owner and restorer, Dimitri, guides you around the mill and tells you about the history of olive oil and the procedure of making it. The coolest thing about it is that after he restored it himself after the mill being abandon in 1960, he and local farmers and his parents made olive oil there and he documented the whole thing for everybody to see. A very interesting museum even for people who normally aren't interested in olive oil. Definitely a recommended visit.

My mother waited 50 years to come here. Today we made her dream come true. An amazing place for Greek Orthodox Christians to visit once in their lifetimes. We saw a number of pilgrims entering the church on their knees - we were absolutely gobsmacked to realise they started this from the port nearly a kilometre away! Visiting again tomorrow.

Attracting thousands and thousands of people every year this church has been standing as the beacon of religion for many years among the believers. Truly an exceptional feeling visiting it, one that you definitely should not miss upon visiting the island. Many believers can be seen crossing the road on their knees moving uphill towards the church, an act of courage and importance among many, and one we should all admire!

A place that leaves a deep impression. The church is beautiful inside and out, with countless incense burners hanging from the ceiling that create a truly unique atmosphere. Even more moving is seeing the pilgrims making their way up from the port to the sanctuary on their knees, a powerful sign of devotion.

Second time in this church. The first time was 1 year ago when it had a big celebration with a lot of people lining up to get into the church, so I decided to skip. This time, on a normal Saturday afternoon, there was no line and quite quiet. Strolled around and just admired its peacefulness.

As many other beaches we have experienced in Turkey, also this one is full of garbage. It's quite disgusting, and a pity. There seems to be no municipal cleaning service and people are uncivilised too. The beach itself could be gorgeous, long shore, shallow water.

This is a difficult one, the beach in so many ways is superb. It long, sandy, shallow, the water even in late September is warm enough for swimming comfortably BUT.... Maybe it's because it's the end of the season but the beach is covered in rubbish, I mean cigarette buts, bottle caps, plastic of all sorts, I mean just so much. Ok you might say well lots of beaches have bits of rubbish on them these days but thus is the main tourist beach that is so long and wide it could easily have a tractor go up and down at night with one of those rubbish filter / trailers behind it. Such a shame.

Beautiful and clean public beach. Lots of space to find a good spot. Water is so clear and even end of September still OK temperature wise. There are cabins where you can change and even open showers to wash off the sand. Toilets are there but might be hard to look at... Nevertheless for a public and free beach extremely pleasant.

Stunning beach. Very clean. Water is warm and flat. Did plenty of swimming here in summer. A must visit.

Fun hike and experience past the river and waterfalls. Not an easy path as you cross over multiple surfaces, so it is a good challenge. Make sure to wear swimming clothes if you want to make it to the final waterfall. Best to park near the beach.

⸻ If you’re in Samos, this is an absolute must-visit! If you love adventure, water, and waterfalls, this place is perfect for you. It was truly an amazing experience. There’s no rope at the first crossing, but the second part has a rope to help you pass. Alternatively, you can use the ladder to get to the other side — it’s definitely the easier option. The water was beautiful — not freezing cold, just refreshing enough. One of the most stunning waterfalls I’ve ever seen in my life. Highly recommended!

Very nice walk. Bring your swimsuit if you want to see the first waterfall. At the restaurant, feel free to ask if you can see the food, the cook will be delighted to show you.

Nice, interesting place to visit. There is a lot of green trees and bush, calm river and rest from sun. First of all: you need waterproof bag, shoes for water and rocks and good condition. To reach first waterfall it’s sth around 15-20 minutes of walk, then you have to swim sth around one minute in cold water and you’ll see first of them. Nothing complicated, but still: you have to swim and don’t be afraid about rocks. Too see another ones, you need go by stairs (they are pretty scary) and then reaching taverna, go down also by stairs and steep hillside. On the right there is second waterfall (you have to go through the river). On the left, you have to go sth around 20 minutes in the river bed - a lot of slippy rocks. Be careful! It’s not for people who are not physically active. Although, still worth to see it.

Beautiful place. getting to the falls requires some wading and occasional short swims in cold water. Don't leave your expensive Salomon walking shoes at the start though as someone will steal them while leaving cheaper trainers and other stuff 🤬

Quite cool place but water cold as ice, even in July. Water shoes are necessary, just like swimming ability cause in one place in deeper, without feeling ground.

Bring good water shoes not flipflops. A wetbag to put your belongings (phone, water, a fruit), swimwear and strong knees and hands ;)To get to the "first part" of The waterfall you need to go up the wooden stairs (5min climb) then you go down on the side of the restaurant. Enjoy the adventure, take you time don't rush it. "Second part" we couldn't get there cause we weren't stong enough to pull ourselves up the rope. I wish I was cause I enjoyed that part we did do.

The most beautiful island, if you like Greece it's a place you must go, still very authentic, lots of beautiful beaches, churches, historic places to visit, if you don't go you will never understand the peace it brings to the soul.

The pleasant atmosphere of the island sets you up for rest. There are places for quiet relaxation and fun, noisy recreation. A large selection of taverns and souvenirs. But the cats here are not fed or given water either How to change this???

I visit the island every year! It is a big island with lovely places full of restaurants and coffee! The beaches are lovely and you can still find beaches that don't charge the umbrella and the sunbeds on top of your order! Pythagoreio, Marathokabos, Kokkari, and psili Ammos are a few of the places you can visit!

While being over in Turkey we done the day visit to the Greek island Samos. We had a really nice day over on the island and would recommend going if you've got the chance. It's absolutely beautiful! The only thing I would say is make sure you know what you want to do before going and possibly think about hiring a motorbike or car for the day as some of the main attractions are more inland of the island. We visited a lovely little pizza restaurant just along down from the main square of the marina which I would also highly recommend, really reasonable priced and amazing food!

Very nice island. In September the water was too cold to really swim or dive, but the people are very nice and the prices are only high in Pythagoreo and Kampos, everywhere else it's pretty cheap. The highlight of the island is the village Manolates there you can also find the only museum of the island. You need a car to explore the island. Its big enough to keep you occupied for a couple of weeks, but nearly all churches are closed or in disrepair. Honest review: Its totally worth a visit and has its own charme, but don't expect too much.

Wonderful place. The locals are really friendly and the island is great for hiking. It has a bit more foliage than some of the smaller islands which makes for great shade when the sun's burning. There are a lot of affordable places to eat and quite some nice hotels (I stayed at Villa Maria). You can get around the island by car or bus (or walking but that takes a bit long if all you need are some tomatoes for dinner). If you intend to use the bus often, which is what I did, make sure to inquire about departure times with locals, as this appears to change often. *Sidenote: I added a photo of the bus schedule as for april 2022.

Big surprise! Green island with beautiful beaches and warm, crystal clear sea and a few attraction. For active people I highly recommend hiking to Seitani beach and swimming in potami waterfalls, for lazy days Livadaki beach is a must, you won’t be bored. The people are super friendly, kind and talkative. Food tasty and affordable. I would say the west side prefer meat, in the East sea food is more common. There is no clubs. A lot of elderly tourists mainly from Germany. The city of Samos and Karlovasi looks like abandoned with its damaged buildings in other hand Pitagorio is absolutely lovely. Rent a car is a need. Take your swimming shoes but can forget snorkling. Temperature in October still warm 23-28°, evenings are chill and windy. Overall It is nice place to visit and rest.

Rated as one of the top 10 beaches we found in an online article we decided to head along in the car. The park is separated into around 4 or 5 beach areas each with its own car park and its own access to the beach. Several have cafes serving soft drinks (non alcoholic) and snacks only in what I can only describe as an archaic fashion. With dirty sunbeds at a cost there are however, free to use picnic benches which I would highly recommend but seemingly a feature well recognised by the locals. If you're lucky enough to be traveling in a car then I'd recommend finding your own private beach!

I went to Dilek National Park on a weekday in May 2023 driving a motorbike. You can only enter from the north side of the peninsula for a ticket. There are a few beaches that you can visit and are not too far from the entrance. Beaches are beautiful and equipped with facilities for pic-nic, bars and plenty of toilets. At the time of my visit, none of the cafes/restaurants were open. Unfortunately the area that you can visit is quite limited compared to the extent of the peninsula, I wish I could visit more. Also, if you need info about the peninsula and trekking possibilities there isn’t much available and I recommend visiting the tourist information point in Kusadasi (opposite the port).

If you have a car or go by bus or taxi the beaches are a refreshing change from the resort complex! Relatively harmless boar roam around scavenging but only because idiots feed them and don't understand they'll keep coming!

Absolutely beautiful. The park was perfect for any family get together or picnic for two. The beauty in Turkey is spectacular. Friendly people everywhere.

It is a good place to have fun, especially if you have children. There are also many slides for adults. The ticket price includes food and drinks. However, we could not eat it. Everything was not tasty. Even the pasta was not cooked properly. The sausages were disgusting and seemed to be made of paper. The burger was also not tasty. You will have fun on the slides, but you will remain hungry.

The location and the sea are wonderful, and there are many enjoyable water slides. However, I am a bit concerned about the safety aspects. The metal platforms and stairs appear rusty, and the columns do not inspire confidence. A very nice water park. A large selection of slides and attractions, both for children and adults. The water park itself is clean. The waiting time to enter the slides is quite short, especially when compared to other water parks. Lockers are available on site. There is a snack bar in the aquapark and juice dispensers. I don't know the price of the entrance, because we had them for free as part of our stay, but being there, it's definitely worth a visit with the kids.

I was pleasantly surprised by Ladies Beach - the water was so clear and clean. It got very busy throughout the afternoon but when we arrived at 10.30 there were plenty of sun beds available - all 300tl each and parasols are free. I was happy to see lots of people dispose of their rubbish although there are a lot of cigarette butts all over the sand.

The best beach in Kusadasi There are a lot of free umbrellas and beach beds, but as demand is quite high, you should come early to get them. A lot of shops and cafes are nearby, as well as Migros store. Water is clean, the sand is being cleaned daily, views are quite pleasant. Really nice place, however could be crowded in summer peak times. But is early September it was quite good and not crowded

The sea is shallow and crystal-clear. Unlike other touristic places, businesses with a sea view don't have exaggerated prices. There are also regular shops in the promenade so that u can easily get a drink without having to leave the seaside. We spent a pleasant afternoon swimming here. I recommend it.

A wonderful beach with soft white sand and crystal-clear water — truly one of the most beautiful spots in Kuşadası. However, it’s sad to see that some visitors leave trash and throw cigarette butts around. When you have such a stunning natural place, it’s everyone’s responsibility to keep it clean and take care of it. Despite that, the beach itself is amazing - perfect for swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the view.

One of the best beachs! I love Kusadisai! It's crowded so if you're looking for a quiet beach, this is not the one, but the water and beach are beautiful! You can get there early and snag a umbrella already set up on the beach, or rent one for £100 at one of the shops on the boardwalk.

The beach was ok. The umbrella rentals were reasonable at €15 for two chairs and an umbrella. The ocean water however was full of debris from trees or plants, not sure which. However, we walked a little further to the right and the water seemed a bit clearer, not too bad. The waves were very strong so we had to keep a close eye on the kids. The vendors on the beach were very reasonable, I bought cotton candy and a candy apple at €2 each. Overall, not too bad of an experience at lady beach. The cab charged us €20 each way from the cruise Port.

Beautiful and sacred holy ground. Be prepared to do a lot of walking as most vehicles are not permitted close to the entrance. We enjoyed seeing the home of the Virgin Mary. The wall of intentions was moving and special. We enjoyed walking the grounds and looking at the landscape. Recommend dressing modestly or you will need to wear a covering. Photography is not permitted in the house.

In Meryemana, Turkiye, the Virgin Mary's House is located. Reverant, quiet, with a prayer wall we stood in a contemplative mode, remembering the struggles of Jesus and the prophecy that was to unfold. I thought of the pain Mary and her sisters endured, but still after all these years Mary provides love and forgiveness to all those in need. These prayers and requests were represent at the prayer wall at Mary's House. It was symbolic of the needs from people all over the world. One gentle man touched my heart so, as he went around retrieving prayer notes that had fallen off the wall. He tenderly returned each note from the ground to the wall. A qentle act of kindness. There are no photographs allowed in Mary's House but prayer candles may be purchased there. Worth the visit!

Mary lived in this house after death of Jesus Christ. The house has two small rooms. The environment is very peaceful here. You will need to walk 10 mins to reach the house. Because of queue you may get a few seconds only inside the house. Overall, a must visit place if you are in Izmir.

Is it actually Mary’s house or just a tourist trap? Jury is still out. Is it worth a visit for you to decide for yourself? Yup. They herd you through the house at a gallop so don’t expect to spend much time checking things out inside the house. Basically just a quick walk through of a tiny house. There’s a holy fountain and a wishing wall too. The whole site might take you 20 minutes to get through.

There was about a 30 minute wait to reach the house. As you reach the house there is an open air alter with priests leading mass. You would need to check the schedule if necessary. Our guide shared that only about 12-14% of the house found in the foundation is from an archeological dig. You walk thru 3 rooms that include religious pictures and statue. After you leave the house you come to 3 fountains that have been blessed. There is then a fence where people tie their prayers. At the end of the walkway are restrooms and a museum shop.where you can purchase blessed icons. Right outside the gates and at the entry are shops selling souvenirs, candy and food. To me this seems out of place at a religious place.

Beautiful location. A lot of the structures are intact and well preserved it was difficult to get there without a guide, taxi or tour group, so it can be pricey. The ancient library is a major highlight and they do live reacting of Roman guards. Lots of history. There is a small bathroom and market stand will snacks and food around the midway point of the walk. When we went (end of June) it was 103 degrees F° with no shade. We spent about an hour and a half walking through but needed to leave due to the heat. Would love to walk around more. Important: bring good hiking shoes that grip, the marble floors are polished and slippery. We had hiking boots and sandals and still slipped a few times, but our friends with simple sneakers had to walk very slowly and carefully to avoid falling down.

It was designed not only to store scrolls and books—holding an estimated 12,000 manuscripts at its peak—but also to serve as a monumental tomb for Celsus, whose sarcophagus lies in a crypt beneath its main floor. *Echoes of the Apostles and Empire* Standing in the Great Theatre of Ephesus is like standing in history itself. With a capacity of over 25,000 seats, this awe-inspiring structure was the largest theatre in ancient Asia Minor and still dominates the site with its grandeur. Built during the Hellenistic period and later expanded by the Romans, it hosted dramas, political events, and gladiator fights. For Christians, this theatre holds profound significance. According to Acts 19, the Apostle Paul’s preaching led many Ephesians to abandon idol worship, especially that of the goddess Artemis. This angered local silversmiths who made shrines for Artemis, causing a riot. The mob dragged Paul's companions into this very theatre, and for two hours the crowd shouted, "Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!" Knowing this brings the stones to life with spiritual history. Unfortunately, during our recent visit, the theatre was under restoration, so we weren’t able to go inside. Still, seeing it from the outside was deeply moving. One unexpected highlight was meeting the famous local cat “Garfield,” who’s become something of a mascot at the theatre. We took so many fun photos with him—it truly made the visit even more memorable. Believed to be the largest in the ancient world: could host up to 25,000 seated spectators. Initially used for drama, in Roman times gladiatorial combats were also held on its stage. Elton John performed a special, solo concert at the Great Theater on July 17, 2001.

We stayed in Izmir and drove to it. It was roughly an hour to get to it. Very nice site and well preserved.

A must see. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made it easy to visualize how the residents lived. Very advanced facilities such as water pipes, tolet system etc. Make sure you arrive early. When our tour bus left the cars trying to enter was out of sight.

We did all the walking around in 3 hours but this will definitely depend on you. January is great as there are not many tourists and prices of hotels are cheaper.

This place is huge. One can find anything from printing service to suits and souvenirs. Of course there are a lot of restaurants and cafes. There is no need to visit every corner of it. Maybe just casually stroll and see where one is lead to.

Beautiful place, lots of stores to buy just about anything. Some are cheap and others expensive. Cool experience seeing the historical building and having a tasty Turkish coffee in the middle of the market. It’s closed on sundays. Free to walk around

A great place to walk around. We tried the mussels and rice. They were excellent. We also did the pickle juice which was also excellent. Lots and lots of interesting shops.

Unique bazaar as there is no goods and shops for tourists. Most of famous bazaar in Turkey is full of shops for tourist with expensive price. But here, most of customers are Izmir people. I like this bazaar. Merchants are friendly and kind! Visit here and feel some authentic turkey bazaar vibe!

Kemeralti bazaar is quite a busy place. You can find hundreds of things to buy from there as the prices are reasonably low. Make sure you have enough space in your suitcase before visiting the bazaar because there are too many souvenirs to buy. There are beautiful bags with Turkish embroidery patterns and praying beads and countless teas and coffees. There are numerous cafes to have a quick bite but they are all super busy. This bazaar is a must visit place.

My husband discovered this gem and it became our favourite eating place. We were in Izmir for a wedding and ended up taking the whole wedding party for a meal, which they loved. We love seafood and were in our element, we could not eat enough. We loved that we were able to pick out the fish and know that we were eating fresh food. The fresh crunchy salad was to die for, it is the best salad we have ever had. If this restaurant was down the road from us, we would be eating there a lot. The atmosphere was great, the waiters and the rastaurant owner were fantastic. I rarely write reviews, but on this ocassion, I felt compelled to. Thank you Kordonboyu Balik for making our experience in Turkey memorable! :)

We were looking for a place to eat in Izmir, the owner offered us a table and we went to choose some mezzes, the kitchen suppose to be closed, after choosing the mezzes, they offer us a fish cacerole, we told him that probably will be too much food, he says to us that it was only a plate. So we say ok. When they brought us the food, they brought five mezzes of octopus what we didn't order and we realise we have too much food on the table, we told them if we could not have the fish cacerol and they told us it was too late, so we have to have it, this wast just a plate like they said. It was a big one. At the end of the dinner we have left so much food and we have a very big bill. The cacerole was 7525 liras, the octopus 2650 liras plus everything else what there is not complains about it. The only good thing I can say is that the food was very nice and tasty. A good waitress always should say what to order to the customer and advised properly.

I had a seabream which was a bit dry and salty, but overall it was nice. However, they charged me twice the price they initially told me for the fish. I had explicitly asked for the price beforehand—they showed me the fish and said it was around 300 grams, so approximately TL700–800. I agreed to that. But when the bill came, they charged around TL1,400 for the seabream—double the amount. I complained, and the waiter who misled me claimed it was actually 500 grams. I pointed out that this wasn’t what he had said earlier, but he simply repeated that it was 500 grams and added that he hadn’t weighed it when I asked for the price. “Good” and silly me for trusting him and ending up being charged twice what this “professional” waiter told me when I arrived.

Great food and location. Courteous staff too. Everything was delicious, superb for the price.

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Kordonboyu Balık. The staff was very nice and helpful. We highly recommend bal badem for dessert (see picture). This is normally not the kind of dessert I go for, but was so happy I followed the waiters’ recommendation.

Great place to have dinner at the pier. The service and fish quality are great and the atmosphere is appealing. Your bill will most likely exceed 200 tl for a minimum meal for two people.

When you go to a good restaurant, you trust the waiter when they advise you, here the advice was too order much more food we could eat and of course, on top of that, the more expensive one, so we left paying a fortune and the table full of food we weren't able to finish.

Another must-see archeological site. İt is about a 3hrs drive from Izmir. What impressed me the most was the 170mt pool, it is unrestored now but I hope it will be one day. One remark: the museum building is closed to visitors.

One of the most fascinating places I have ever been to. Absolutely stunning peace's with very well preserved parts. I loved the masks wall and also the pool at the main square. Don't miss the Theatre. Less expensive (€12) and much less crowded than Ephesus

Enchanting archeological site. Some buildings are in incredible good state and the visit is very enjoyable as there aren’t crowds of tourists.

The archeological site is fantastic, interesting and beautiful. You can easily spend there 2 hours. Take some water and a hat, as it can be very hot on the sun. However, the Museum is currently closed...and this was very dissapointing.

Absolutely beautiful, well-preserved and off the beaten path. Low crowds mean you can walk on and around the ruins. Come early and explore in near silence and solitude.

We had limited time and we were not sure if we should include this in our itinerary, but we did and we were delighted. Way less crowded than Ephesus, and from my point of view experientially deeper and easier to immerse into the history of the place without the tour busses. Though smaller than Ephesus, the 170 m long swimming pool must have been a treat, and Aphrodisias had plenty of water the gardens were reportedly magnificent. Definitely a City I may have wanted to live in back in the day…
