Uhrovec castle

Mentioned on
1 list
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Uhrovec Castle, located on the side of a hill in Uhrovske Podhradie, offers a picturesque and easily accessible hiking experience. The hike from the parking lot takes about 55 minutes and provides manageable gradients suitable for all ages. The castle is currently undergoing renovation with volunteers working on-site. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding hills and purchase refreshments and souvenirs.
Beautiful autumn day, very lovely walk up (around an hour by slow walk, there is also very steep road but faster, be careful)
Lea T — Google review
Uhrovec Castle is a picturesque medieval ruin of defensive castle located in the Strazov Mountains of Slovakia. It is accessible from village Uhrovske Podhradie. Distance from village to the castle is only 1.5 km, but very steep incline. There is also access by gravel forest road. This incline is easy to moderate and the distance is 3.5 km. The castle itself is in "good" condition if you compare with other ruins in Slovakia. The preservation work is in (very slow) progress. It is beautiful and interesting, and not very busy because it is less known and access is somewhat complicated. But definitely worth the visit! If you like to hike in the forest and hills then take time to explore surrounding area.
Peter S — Google review
A great place to visit. You have to be reasonably fit to access the castle but it’s worth it. And they serve pivo there!
A — Google review
The Castle is pretty, but right now you can ecplore just half of it becouse of the renovations, there is a place for donations if you whould like to help bring castle to his second beauty.
Michał W — Google review
Beautiful ruins of The Uhrovec Castle offers wide look to nearby hills. Castle is at the moment in under construction but fully available for visitors. From the Uhrovske Podhradie you can choose 2 paths to The Castle. I do not recommend Green path, which is hard to steep climb. I recommend path under The Castle's hill which is latter connected to blue path right to The Castle.
Michal B — Google review
Easily accessible, the hike is not too long and not too difficult. Souvenirs are available, groups can book a room for the night! The castle is being conserved a d renovated.
Michal Š — Google review
Castle is one of my favorite. Build on side of hill with walk just about good for kids, offers great views. You can buy some refreshments and souvenirs if you like. It is still under reconstruction. If it is not enough for you, there are some historical places to be seen in Uhrovec village or very nice small church in Ksina village near by. Hope you like my photo from recent sightseeing flight I took from Trenčín.

Trenčín Castle

Mentioned on
10 lists
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Trenčín Castle, also known as Trenčiansky Hrad, is a historic hilltop castle in Slovakia that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The castle houses a museum showcasing local history and exhibits about the area and the castle itself. During summer, the castle hosts various events and activities for visitors of all ages. Accessible from the city center, it's a popular destination for tourists due to its convenient location.
A large, marvellous and well-preserved castle complex right in the centre of the small town of Trencin, but at the same time high above it. Its walls and towers are intact and there are large inner grounds with several buildings. The most important one has a pretty high tower which you can climb to the very top via an increasingly narrow and steep corridor. Once you reach the top you’re almost among the clouds. There are exhibitions inside too and a small souvenir shop. If you are in the area, this castle is a mandatory stop.
Nikola C — Google review
A historic site with a beautiful view. It can be reached via a longer gravel forest road with a steep incline — hiking shoes are highly recommended! Much of the castle is under renovation, and many areas are closed. With the basic ticket, you can mostly explore the castle walls and visit one exhibition, where nearly all the signs are in Slovak — English translations are only available via QR codes. When we visited, the exhibition also included a retro display of strollers and children's toys, which was quite interesting.
Takács G — Google review
Very nice place but should better manager. Any way Worth to visit, you can walk around it in max 2 hours. The main Tower is the Best. Nice to see the park and city too.
Kolu K — Google review
Trenčín Castle is stunning on the outside, but the interior and exhibitions are a bit underwhelming. When we visited, it was partly under reconstruction so there were some areas that we could not access. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful castle with amazing views.
Veronica E — Google review
A lovely castle to visit. You can spend up to a few hours there. The entrance fee is very fair. Amazing views open up from various vantage points of the castle. Highly recommended for a visit!
Eddy T — Google review
Nice big castle, worth the visit. Doable with kids, we went up with a 3 and 6 year old, but it's quite steep. We did around 5 km, visited almost every corner.
Ruben S — Google review
Great place with lot's of history. If you don't mind a steep climb up too the castle . In the village square there are plenty of bar restaurants at reasonable prices.
Phil S — Google review
It is more a fortress then a castle. Still if you climb in the tower is a very nice feeling of freedom. Also down the center of the town is beautiful.

Castle of Beckov

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled atop a steep cliff overlooking the Vah River, the Castle of Beckov stands as a stunning remnant of medieval architecture. This enchanting site offers visitors a glimpse into history with its beautifully restored sections and captivating ruins. While it may pose challenges for those with mobility issues, adventurous souls will find the trek rewarding. The castle is not only rich in heritage but also features charming shops and engaging exhibitions that enhance your experience.
Today, I visited Beckov Castle and spent about 2 hours there. The castle is very beautiful and has a lot of history. It is located on a hill, so the view from the top is amazing. You can see the village and nature all around. The castle ruins are well-maintained, and there are signs in English to explain the history. I enjoyed walking around the old walls and towers. It feels like going back in time. There is also a small museum inside with some interesting items. The place is peaceful and not too crowded, which makes it perfect for a relaxing visit. I took many photos and really liked the atmosphere. Overall, it was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone who likes history, castles, or just wants to enjoy some nice views.
Ashish V — Google review
Beautiful castle, excellent guide. We were lucky and there was also a puppet show for the little ones in the castle. I recommend visiting this castle. It is only 120 steps to the dragon guarding the castle well.
Veronika T — Google review
A charming castle 🏰with a long history, it was accompanied by a speaking guide who knew the castle very well. From there are beautiful ❤️ views.
Slavomir I — Google review
The people working here were so kind they rushed over to unlock all the doors inside the castle (we were the only ones on a rainy day) and were very informative! Highly recommend
Mickey W — Google review
Great experience. Suitable for families also. Interactivity everywhere, easy to learn and understand. Totally reccomend it. Take at least 1.5h
Ioana T — Google review
An easily accessible location — probably offers more activities on weekends. Around noon on Tuesday, there wasn’t much going on, but the castle and other sights are definitely worth a visit.
Takács G — Google review
Beautiful castle of great historical importance. It is being rebuilt and is interesting because of its many layers.
Geoffrey W — Google review
As a travel guide I know the place quite well. It's a beautiful and impressive castle with interesting stories. walking up is easier than it seems, and in the summer they have nice shows there. Pity that it's not lightened up at night, my group and i were somewhat disappointed. Yet managed to take a few pics.

Nitra Castle

Mentioned on
16 lists
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nitra Castle, an imposing 11th-century fortress situated on a limestone rock surrounded by the Nitra River, is a significant cultural heritage site. The castle, along with the Upper Town, forms a Town Conservation Reserve and boasts hilltop views and a cathedral at its core. This historic precinct defended the city in ancient times and features 16th-century ramparts and bastions.
The surroundings are beautifully maintained, and the views from the castle are offering a panoramic glimpse of the city and beyond. The church frescoes were truly fabulous, showcasing intricate details and a rich sense of history. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or just someone looking for a peaceful and picturesque spot, Nitra Castle offers an unforgettable experience.
Ondrej M — Google review
Long walk up a steep hill, historical and that's it. €1 gets you a photo opportunity of the entire city and a look in a quite lovely cathedral. All done in 30 minutes easy.
Anthony W — Google review
This looks like a castle, but it is more of a history of bishops and some very old artifacts! We loved the museum as there were items dating back to the 800's! I have never seen items this old before. We can't take pictures, so you need to visit if you like church history
Tena S — Google review
Stunning place full of history, beautiful views, very well maintained by. The museum is outstanding - remains of the first Slavic bishop activity.
A L — Google review
We just walked around the outside. Impressive wall. Parked at the free parking near the stadium. Very busy. Lovely park next door for a picnic. Free toilets!
Kim S — Google review
Nitra Castle is a stunning place! Beautiful architecture, lots to see. Highly recommended!
Татьяна М — Google review
Nitra Castle is a lovely and peaceful place to visit. Set on a hill above the town, it offers beautiful views and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The area around the castle is surprisingly green and well-maintained, making it perfect for a quiet walk or some time to unwind. The historic architecture adds a special charm, and it’s easy to feel the centuries of history in the air. It’s not overcrowded, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for those looking for a peaceful and scenic spot in Nitra.

Čachtice Castle

Mentioned on
1 list
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the picturesque Carpathian Mountains, Čachtice Castle stands as a captivating reminder of the 13th century. This hilltop ruin, adorned with Gothic and Renaissance elements, is steeped in mystery, largely due to its infamous last resident, Elizabeth Bathory. The most breathtaking views of the castle can be enjoyed from the nearby village of Visnove.
Beautiful and peaceful hike up to the castle ruins! The view from the top is breathtaking, and the surrounding nature makes it even more special. Great spot for a weekend trip
Ashish V — Google review
Very nice castle, good lector with humor. For families with children you can use local turist train. Nice view of the valley. I appreciate this nice places in Slovakia.
Veronika T — Google review
calm and well preserved castle ruin with affordable entrance fee (4€/5€, cash/card), nice views to the country side, nice spots for relaxing and enjoying the views, parking 30 minutes from the castle, souvenir shop/refreshment next to the entrance
Viktor M — Google review
Parking 3 euros which is ok, you also get a tour guide in english and a small magnet. From there, it is 15-20 min easy uphill walk. Entrance to castle is 5 euros per person on weekends, which is not really worth it. There are simmilar castles nerby where admission is free. Either way, not too bad, just there are better experiences in the area.
Emir A — Google review
This is the castle of the famous Countess Elizabeth Bathory, meaning that it has fascinating and macabre history. It is worth visiting for that fact alone. Other than that, most of the castle is in ruins, however some renovation has been carried out in recent years. Still, a lot more could be done to restore the castle in its former glory (I hope that they would do that one day). It is a short hike uphill from the parking and once you’re there, the castle offers splendid vistas all around.
Nikola C — Google review
Calm, beautiful, though castle not much left but intresting history.
Demz R — Google review
Amazing. I really loved it. And the surroundings are just breathtaking.
Pandora — Google review
Beautiful medieval castle ruins with some exhibition as well. The walk up is not so hard and can be easily managed by anyone who can walk for 20 or so minutes up the not-so-steep hill. Enjoyed the views as well, there is number of spots where you can take some really nice portraits. They take a good care of the place, renovating one step at a time, and can use any money you can spare to make this piece of history nicer and nicer. They serve refreshments here as well, which is a nice bonus. You need to bring cash though 💶 Recommend, definitely will visit again :)

St.Michael archangel Church

Mentioned on

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
St. Michael the Archangel Church is a medieval gem with detailed frescoes adorning its walls and ceilings, some of which are created by renowned painters. The church stands on a sharp point of Tribec, offering picturesque views visible from Nitra planes to Povazie. This Romanesque building from the 11th century is a national cultural monument and one of Slovakia's oldest churches.
Moving along the blue route from the pyramid (Vysielač Zobor) we decided not to return to Nitra, but to walk to the end point of the route. The road is beautiful and not difficult. Very diverse nature. And here we got to this very old church. It is a very calm, soulful place with stunning views. Then you can go not along the route, but just go down to the nearby village.
Alena S — Google review
I finally found Gargamel's house. He must have gone into the forest to look for the Smurfs, but I had brought cat food for his cat. By the way, dont go to this church in the evening or at night; bears livings near forest, and you could become their meal on the way back. İ am not joking.

(Translated by Google) Very nice place with a beautiful view. You can't get inside. From here you can see the Nitra Castle and Zobor well. It's quiet there, there aren't many tourists, so you can enjoy it without crowds. There is also a small cave nearby, although it's only a few meters long, but it's still interesting that something like this was created there ⛪️ (Original) Veľmi pekné miesto s krásnym výhľadom.

A great aquapark for summer as all the amenities offer so much! The slides are so much for kids and dads as well! Definitely worth visiting!
Marcus F — Google review
I think its sufficient for what it is. Got 2.5h entry was enough for me to have a swim, couple of slides on toboggans 🙈 relax in pools and 2 rounds of sauna upstairs. Its pretty much for families and kids. Not the sauna though. Had a hotdog when leaving. Parking was free as on Saturday afternoon a bit remote, not directly outside. The place was clean and well kept. I would consider coming again.

This "water world" is a nice relaxing place for anyone who wants to have a good rest. I always like to come back here with my , and 2 hours is usually not long enough for us. Quality information on the website, professional services. Snacks and buffet at fair prices, including daily menus. For me personally, it is one of the best aqua centers in Moravia regios. On the other hand It can get really crowded in national holidays, be aware of waiting a long queue on such days...

Spas & Wellness
We visited the Spa with a friend of mine for The Mirror and Mud pools. We enjoyed the stay in the spa as walk-ins and welcoming members of the staff at the reception and near the pools made our time enjoyable along with the experience in the pools. I would also recommend the spa café in the Art Deco style building. The lady was also very nice. The cakes were lovely too. The architecture is amazing too, for those, who love the Art Nouveau or Art Deco style.
MAREK C — Google review
For 70 euros, you can swim in three pools, use three different saunas, and that’s it. It’s absolutely not worth the price. If you have the chance, go to Hungary instead of this characterless spa. Even the cheap 10 euros option in Hungary is better than this.
Alex O — Google review
it is nice for sure, but the biggest thermal bath in the world is in Germany and it only costs 1€ more. This one would be a mediocre one in Germany. Definitely not worth 70€ entrence. Only one traditional Sauna, not a big variety sadly.
Yusuf O — Google review
Clean pools and facilities, staff were friendly and helpful, but not worth €70 given the limited pools available. Likely given the cost, I had most of the pools to myself most of the time, which was a plus.

Castle of Dobrá Voda

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Well-preserved ruine of mediaval castel, pretty large one, compared to several other ruines alongside Czech and Slovak borders. A piece of history, hidden within the forest, access suitable for small kids as well as old folks, however, a big challenge with a wheelchair, assistance with very good physical power needed.
Martin V — Google review
My favourite ruins in Slovakia ! A must-see.
Evgenii S — Google review
If you like old castles well worth a visit. The information signs are in Slovak but lots of pictures tell the story of the recent archeology. Its a fair walk and not easy going in places, having a 4x4 we managed to get closer than most but still a good walk & looked like it would be difficult if it wasn't dry. We visited on a hot day and the trees gave us some well recieved shade.
Gordon B — Google review
The castle is very nice.

A ruin of a castle from the 13th century. Recently a part of the castle with a tower has been uncovered and open for a visit. The walk from the village is easy and suitable for kids. It starts at the church, you must cross the local cemetary, later you pass an old Jewish cemetary located in the forest.
Lenka M — Google review
Really nice castle ruin "hidden" in the woods. It's only 20 minute hike from the town's cemetery (you can park your car at the cemetery or at the restaurant/church in the town).

Amazing experience. Great atmosphere in very nice and unusuall place. Interior is beautiful with many nice details. You can sit in own separate part or big open space. Staff was kind and smiling all the time with good recommandations. We tried coffee, lemonades and sweets there and we loved it all. Apart from coffee prices are little bit higher. To make it short: great location, interior, service, sweets and coffee make it very pleasent experience and "must visit" in the city. Worth every cent. It is simply great experience

City Tower

Observation Decks & Towers
The City Tower, constructed in 1574, stands as the tallest structure in Trnava's historic center. With 143 steps leading to its summit, visitors are treated to sweeping views of the town and surrounding mountains. Despite its modest height of 57 meters and an observation gallery at 29 meters, the tower offers surprisingly good vistas due to the city's low-rise buildings. The Renaissance building also houses a unique mechanical clockwork that requires daily manual winding by a skilled watchmaker.
Must do in Trnava. It was the highlight during my visit to this gem of a city. Entrance fee is 4 euro but 143 steps later you will be able to breathe in the city. On your way up you can observe and actually feel the time. Tick tock - memento mori ⏳ step in , feel the beat and enjoy .

Guided tour to the top of the tower, uniqe antique clock mechanism sightseeing, manual lever winding. Beautiful 360 city view!
Peter K — Google review
The tower is well kept, you can go up for a fee. You can enter on the side and buy your ticket on the second floor. The view from the tower is quite nice, you can see most sights of the city from there.

Tran a is not a very big city in Slovakia, but rather comfortable. Nice main square. You can go up to the tower to have a nice view to the town.

The small town of Trnava is a very short distance from Bratislava and well worth at least a day trip to explore its history. This tower provides a very good local history going all the way back to the 12th century, if you're interested in history you could spend about half an hour reading all the available materials. The entrance is very cheap and good value for money while the views are, of course, quite stunning, this is a very photogenic old town with plenty of enjoyable architecture.
Klaus W — Google review
You could see the whole of Trnova from the top and was amazingly cheap. The sights were beautiful and the climb was short. Definitely recommend going to this small but charming town.
Karen J — Google review
It was previously used as a fire observation tower. There is even a mannequin with an authentic fire brigade. The view from the Tower is great 360 degrees and if you want to explore the city, you should visit the Tower. There you can make great pictures.

Červený Kameň Castle

Museum
Guided tours of a preserved 13th-century castle museum housing furniture & historic weapon exhibits.
A beautiful and well-preserved castle with a rich history! The guided tour was interesting, and the guide did a great job sharing information with some fun stories. The massive cellars surprised me the most – they’re said to be among the largest in Central Europe. The surrounding area is great for walks, and the view is absolutely worth it. I also recommend the café near the castle, where you can enjoy a coffee with a nice view. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this place!
Johny W — Google review
Very nice castle to visit. Take longer tours that include cellar... This castle has the best exhibition from all castles in Slovakia... Lady who takes as on tour was very informative, we find out lots of history facts connecting castle with Slovakian history...
Mihael V — Google review
A visit well worth it, especially the underground wine cellar—it’s truly impressive. The guided tour is in Slovak, but there are English information materials available, and the staff gave a very thorough and dedicated introduction. The garden is beautiful as well. Highly recommended!

Nice experience. Great place to go with school groups. You can easily spend one full day there. Quite odd you can visit inside only at .00 min

i would say, this is the best renovated castle ins slovakia. easy access, gardens for picnic, inner yard with restaurant and caffe, perfect atmosphere. bicycle friendly. i can only recommend a visit. parking: yes, for free food&beverages: yes toilets: yes, for free
-p- — Google review
A fascinating place to come and see - even though you can't really see the castle in the usual sense unless you have a drone (and hence my score of 4\5). I recommend getting onto one of the guided tours - whether you wait for the English one is up to you, but we didn't. Access to a lot of the castle is available only on a tour. The foundations and cellar are definite highlights.
Christopher W — Google review
Man selling ticket was very miserable, he obviously hate his job. It's a first person you have contact with on visit, why would you place there someone like that? The tour guide was absolutely brilliant, know what they talking about and enjoying it. Castle itself it's worth visiting. Very big. Small tour is about an hour but big tour is 1 hour and 15min. It's worth every euro.

good swimming and good choice of pools. food is also good, large selection. we will definitely stop by again. It's better to buy tickets online and you don't have to wait in long lines.

Very nice place. However, during our visit, too many amenities weren't available (swimming pool, kid's pool, outdoor tobogans, "diving pool". Understandable, as it wasn't full season, but shouldn't be charging full price, or, at least, should inform visitors about it.
Peter S — Google review
We visited this place on the weekend. In winter, two outdoor swimming pools are in operation - a children's pool and another pool. While it's a great place to visit in winter, it's also a really nice place in summer.
JaeHyeong J — Google review
We had a little problem to find a locker because there was a lot of people and I was a bit disappointed that you have to pay extra for the slides but otherwise the overall experience was nice. We will most likely visit again in the future.
Bee W — Google review
It's always amazing spending a day in this thermal park. Over the years they have added different pools with all sorts of entertainment. Prices are very similar to all other thermal parks around Slovakia.
Jana V — Google review
It's not the first time I visited this venue and unfortunately, I have to say that my experience was often quite disappointing. The staff was generally unpleasant and seemed annoyed by the need to serve guests. The facilities themselves were also lacking. Although several pools were open during the off-season, there were too many people and not enough attractions available. To make matters worse, the pools were not particularly clean and the attractions (such as bubbles and jets) only ran for short periods of time before shutting down for extended breaks. Additionally, the venue had a multitude of rules and restrictions that were often unclear or questionable. It was difficult to navigate the facility, especially for those with mobility issues, as there were thresholds everywhere and limited signage in languages other than Hungarian and Slovak. Overall, while the venue may be relatively inexpensive and conveniently located between Budapest and Vienna, I cannot recommend it due to its poor service and lackluster facilities.
Adrian W — Google review
We were really excited to go here but then found out that the slides are only open at the weekend, the indoor pools were closed for renovation, the indoor slides were out of bounds, the lazy river wasn’t running and the wave machine only runs every 2 hours, (great when you get a 3hr ticket) and the indoor children’s pool play area wasn’t functioning. We were told none of this when we paid at the till. Very disappointing and definitely don’t recommend the place. I understand that general maintenance / safety is important but we should have been warned when we paid or had the entry price reduced.
James B — Google review
Fun for all the family, if you want to relax and unwind you can, if you want to be active you can and somewhere in between, good choice of food and drink outlets that won't break the bank. Should be even better when the new pools are finished early 2019. 👍👍👍👍

AQUAPARK Senec

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Water park with in- & outdoor leisure pools, slides & a beach volleyball court, plus sun loungers.
I visit it often with kids, we love it. Check online web offerings, usually there is some good deal. It is mostly not crowded, reasonable price, also restaurant is fine compared to other aquapark (Trnava)
Ladislav T — Google review
Simply TOO expensive and you are forced to pay for a whole day. 2 adults and a 6 years old. 77,70 euro entrance (including discount even because we’re locals). Have the impression the prices become more and more ridiculous every year. Tip: go to Aquapark Trnava. Equal quality. Less packed. Way better prices and you’re able to pay per hour entrance.
Diederik — Google review
Excellent aquapark. Daily ticket for anyone over 6 years old is 30e. You can rent towels, you can buy all the essentials. Great lockers system, also free hair dryers and bikini dryers. There is indoor pools and slides in case of rain and also outdoor pools and slides. Excellent. Place is kept clean. Lots of lifeguards on hand. Animators kept the little ones busy with dancing in the water, foam party, making balloon characters, and also Moana had visited. Kids absolutely loved it. There is a restaurant upstairs, quite expensive but a good choice of tasty food. The older lady who was serving us at the till in the restaurant was very, very rude and angry. Her attitude clouded our otherwise, "Perfect day."
Lucy — Google review
Amazing place. Great slides, clean and pleasant. Not crowded at all. A bit pricey though, about €90 for three people for a whole day. Buy online on your phone as they are slightly cheaper. Sausage with a drink is about €8.80, parking about €7.50 for 24 hours but if you park outside there is no charge. There are plenty of food stations with bottled drinks or beer in tap. 0.4l beer is about €3.40. However, what I would welcome is some water stations around the park. Dehydration is real and especially on hot days and we definitely experienced it. Some safety issues with some people not waiting for green light so some safety concerns. We noticed that some lifeguards responsible for 10 or so slides were looking down for long periods of time not paying too much attention. It seemed like they were checking their phones or something. Other than that we had really great fun and I cannot fault anything else. A great day out. Definitely recommend it for anyone.
Martin V — Google review
Very big aqua park, a lots of slides and pools for adults and children. Green and clean areas. Lovely place for spending a time with a family. You can find there a many groceries and bars. It's cheap and easy to use. A lots of fun and relaxing. You can use a car park outside. You don't have to using cash inside, you can pay with bracelet, which you received by the entrance.
Karolina W — Google review
Great place & great people! Lots of sun beds and water slides in a green surrounding. Some big trees for those of us preferring relaxig in the shade. Visited aquapark for a few sunny days late in july and the place wasn't crowded, so my kids could go on the slides with maximum a minute standing in line.
M — Google review
I feel really disappointed of our visit. Firstly, very bad customer service, lifeguards shout at people instead of saying it politely. Children don't know the rules and I could see many of them were shocked. Secondly, only one buffet was opened. A food choice was very poor, not everyone is a fan fried food. I would say it is quiet expensive for not a great service. Only visit the place because my children love the slides. Next time I will think twice if it is worth to visit.
Denisa B — Google review
If you come with your child and spouse and wish to take turns enjoying the spa, it’s not possible unless you purchase a one-day spa pass or two 90-minute spa sessions. Since one parent must stay with the child by the pool, it’s really not very family-friendly.

Vino Fiala fit us in for a Sunday tasting with just a day’s notice, and it was lovely! We were greeted with a table set outside in the charming courtyard and enjoyed tasty snacks while sampling a number of delicious wines, along with information, history and anecdotes from the local area and the family business and a tour of the cellar. Thanks Martín!

We had an amazing experience at Vino Fiala with Martin. He was such a welcoming host and absolutely full of knowledge. Every wine we tasted was outstanding quality. We booked as we are interested in wine and we learnt a good deal about Slovakian wine and the different varietals. The food provided was also delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to come again one day. Thanks, Martin!

Very nice and instructive visit. We highly recommend it if you want to learn more about Slovak wines from the Modra region. The owner is very nice and the place is easily accessible from Bratislava bus station.

Absolutely fantastic - we planned a very last minute trip and hadn’t realised we needed to book for the wine cellars. Luckily we caught Martín on the way out to work on the vineyard and he so kindly agreed to give us an impromptu tasting. He was so lovely and knowledgeable about both the wine but also the history of the town and of Slovakia. I’d highly recommend booking with him, and we will definitely do so if we come back!

Martin kindly welcomed us at the last minute for a tasting at his estate. We were very well received, with a lovely platter of cheese and cold cuts. We tasted seven different wines, some directly from the barrel. The wines are excellent and the hospitality was flawless. Martin took the time to explain everything, making this tasting a highlight of our trip to Slovakia.

Rural water park with long slides dropping into several pools, plus thermal waters & a sauna.
One of the best water parks 3 attractions for children and 3 other pools, in one pool are wave's and in other whirlpool. Another advantage is 6 toboggans. And the campsite is also very nice with a stream. Good for families.

Great way to spend summer days either when you want to go for a swim in a really pleasant spot among trees and have good service at hand or when you want to plan your weekend. There are caravan spots, mobile homes or when you are in a more adventorous mood you rent a spot for a tent. The choice is your but know this you will have everything you need like water supply, toilettes and showers right at spot. When you are looking for a camping with goos service this is the place.

Lovely place, comparable with a garden full of pools, showers, suitable for families with kids. Restaurants quite ok.

This is the best place to go have fun with your kids or relax on a hot summer day. They have multiple pools with warm to hot water and a cooler pool only for swimmers. There are a lot of watery attractions and water slides. All the slides and attractions are included in the entrance fee, that is not high at all. The food is fine, one can pay by card for everything. The ice cream is delicious. All the signs and announcements are in three languages: Hungarian, Slovak, German. We love this place, will come back next summer.

The Blue Church - Church of St. Elizabeth

Sights & Landmarks
The Blue Church, also known as the Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, is a striking baby-blue church designed in the art nouveau style in the early 1900s. Its unique blue-colored exterior and otherworldly architectural style make it one of the most unique churches to visit. The design is reminiscent of the popular Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, but with a blue hue. Visitors can marvel at its architecture and enjoy free entry during designated times every day except Sundays.
Bratislava- Slovakia 🇸🇰 The Blue Church – officially known as the Church of St. Elizabeth – is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bratislava, Slovakia.😇♥️ Situated in the Old Town, about 10 minutes’ walk from the city center Sky blue façade, mosaics, and roof tiles — hence the nickname “The Blue Church” Oval church nave with a cylindrical tower. Decorated with white and blue majolica tiles. Interior is equally blue-themed, with painted pews, walls, and ceilings. Contains an image of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, to whom it is dedicated. Don’t miss this Holy place and architectural marvel if you’re around Bratislava 🫶🏻♥️
Sony K — Google review
This church is so cute. The blue against the afternoon sky was a great to see. The church opens at 5.30 to 7pm but I was lucky there was a wedding going on so I was able to see the inside before it officially opened. But its definitely worth the visit.
Mandy J — Google review
I visited the Blue Church in Bratislava, and it truly feels like a fairytale building—almost like a big, beautifully decorated cake. The pastel blue color and unique Art Nouveau style make it stand out from anything else in the city. I was lucky enough to watch a music show inside, and the atmosphere was magical. The interior matched the charm of the outside, and the acoustics made the performance even more special. It’s not a big church, so you don’t need too much time to explore, but it’s definitely worth a visit for its one-of-a-kind design and peaceful vibe.
Cinc V — Google review
Its a very pretty place! Even the benches are a very pleasing pastel blue. Almost fairy tale like. The exterior makes you want to bite into this pretty fondont cake!!
Nandini B — Google review
Very unique looking church which was one of a kind. Not really in the most exciting part of the town but would recommend visiting during broad daylight by car. The inside of the church was closed but you could still look inside. Everything was very baby blue which I have never seen before. Definitely a must visit in Bratislava.
Anand — Google review
Unique architecture with a fairy-tale feeling. Even though it’s located in a less popular area and was closed to the public during our visit, it’s definitely worth seeing.

Čumil Statue

Mentioned on
23 lists
Sights & Landmarks
Monuments & Statues
In the heart of Bratislava's historical center, you'll find Čumil, a charming bronze statue that has become one of the city's most beloved attractions. This quirky sculpture depicts a sewer worker taking a break and peeping out from a manhole with a mischievous smile on his face. Known as "the watcher" in Slovak, Čumil is just one of several whimsical statues scattered throughout the Old Town.
Beautiful and unique, and somewhat extraordinary, I'd say. A nice story to go with it could enhance the monument—perhaps I missed it. Bratislava is an interesting place and the center of a virtually "newly born" state. Undoubtedly, Bratislava has a Hungarian history, followed by a "twinning" with the Czech Republic. Slovaks can be proud of their history and should take the opportunity to showcase their Hungarian and, to some extent, Austrian roots—after all, Bratislava was the capital of Hungary for a long time. During this time, the Habsburgs and the German-speaking population played an important role in Bratislava. Explanations of the many well-restored buildings and monuments should also be provided in German and Hungarian.
Günther R — Google review
A unique little statue that attracts attention. Although it is not a large monument, it is still interesting and you can always see tourists taking pictures of it or having their pictures taken with the statue. I have passed it several times and there were always tourists around the statue. It is perhaps one of the most famous landmarks in the city.
Spase M — Google review
Easily Bratislava’s most beloved and cheeky landmark - a bronze worker peeking out of a manhole, grinning up at passersby. It’s playful, funny, and a reminder not to take sightseeing too seriously. Locals say rubbing his head brings good luck (though judging by the shine, everyone’s already tried). Perfect photo spot, especially after a pint or two-you can’t help but smile when you spot him on the corner of Panská and Laurinská. Tip: Keep an eye out when walking - he’s literally on the street, and yes, people have tripped over him.
Neel B — Google review
The Čumil Statue Čumil, one of Bratislava’s most famous landmarks, is a bronze statue located at the corner of Panská and Laurinská Streets in the city’s Old Town. Created by sculptor Viktor Hulík in 1997, it depicts a cheerful man peeking out from a manhole, resting his chin on his hands as he watches the world go by. The name Čumil comes from Slovak slang and means “the watcher” or “the observer.” The statue adds a touch of humor and charm to the historic streets of Bratislava and has become a beloved symbol of the city. Visitors often stop to take photos with Čumil for good luck and to experience a bit of the city’s playful spirit.
Ray — Google review
Čumil is one of Bratislava’s most famous and quirky statues, showing a man peeking out of a manhole. It’s a fun photo spot and adds charm to the Old Town streets. Locals say he might be “just watching” or “resting from work,” and there are even little legends about him bringing luck if you touch his head. It’s quick to see but definitely worth stopping by for a smile and a memorable picture.
Wiem M — Google review
I really want to meet the person who designed this and how he got such an innovative idea.. really great.. and lot of people are taking photos with him. Really so nice.
Rajala M — Google review
The man at work is an interevisual relief on a busy alley. Its cute n there are a lot of stories around it. Most are exaggerated, though no harm if they humour you. Rub his cap to get some luck! If u get lucky, good on you!!

Michalská veža

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Museum of Arms in the city's historical district is a neat place with lots of old weapons on display. It can be a bit strenuous to climb the many flights of stairs, but the views are worth it. The staff are friendly and easy to understand, and it's easy to buy tickets.
The tower is newly restored after 2 years of closing. It is only one standing from those medieval towers which have been part of city walls and served as city entrance gates. Now you can find museum showing the history of Bratislava, especially about this structure inside the tower. To buy the ticket you need to go about 20 meters up the Michalská street to pharmacy of Red Crayfish. You can go to terrace surrounding the upper part of the tower. There is beautiful view on Bratislava city center and castle. During last restoration they inserted time capsule with the objects from current era to the statue on the top of tower roof. You can guess what it is because they don't mention it in the museum descriptions.
Peter B — Google review
Climb to the top for a wonderful view over the picturesque rooftops of the city. You need to buy your tower climb ticket at the old pharmacy 20m up the street - this is also the entrance to the museum. It’s a relatively easy climb with several landing areas with historical information. The whole tower has just been completely renovated and is in mint condition. At the top you have a 360’ view. Spectacular.
Gustav — Google review
The view from the top of Michael’s Tower is excellent, offering a full 360° panorama over the old town, Bratislava Castle, and the SNP Bridge. Keep in mind that you have to climb what feels like 7–8 floors on foot, but it is absolutely worth it for the amazing scenery. Highly recommended.
Igor F — Google review
Really neat museum in a super cool building. If you are willing to climb the many flights of stairs you are rewarded with fabulous city views. Along the way are many floors of weapons including spears, swords, halberds and rifles just to name a few. I speak no Slovakian but found the staff friendly and it was easy to get my point across and buy tickets.

A wonderful structure, but be aware the arms and armour displays have been entirely removed and there are almost no exhibits of any kind at present. Tickets were €6 for general entry in 2024.

Perched on a hill overlooking Bratislava, Slavín War Memorial is a tribute to around 7,000 Soviet Army soldiers who perished in WWII. The monument offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and serves as a peaceful burial ground for the fallen soldiers. As visitors ascend the hill, they are greeted by stoic stone soldiers and an opportunity for bird-watching.
Slavín and the scenery surrounding it is beautiful. It is a stunning monument and cemetery in remembrance to the fallen soldiers there from WWII. It is very clean and well looked after. The views from up there are amazing and you can see across the city and the sights such as Bratislava Castle 🏰

a memorial from world war twobdedicated to those who died while fighting against the germans. full of history as you can also see all the people who have died for this city, even though all the people i have seen were soviets (obviously). the statue itself can be seen from a long range of view and there can be an amazing view but it is restricted by the trees (a drone would work very well). only bad thing is that as of 2025 theres lots of buildings under renovations and it ruins a little the view. surprisingly, i saw no bit of trash here

A very well done memorial for those that lost their lives fighting Nazi occupation, a must visit for anyone that is interested in history. Top of a hill with very good views. Recommend getting a bus or taxi ride to the location as it is up hill a lot the castle area.

The Slavin monument in Bratislava is a deeply moving and historically significant site. Located on a hill overlooking the city, it offers stunning panoramic views while carrying a powerful sense of remembrance and honor. The architecture and scale of the memorial are impressive, but what truly stands out is the quiet dignity of the place — a solemn tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during World War II. Walking through the grounds, surrounded by manicured gardens and peaceful silence, you feel the weight of history and gratitude. It is both humbling and inspiring. Whether you're interested in history, culture, or simply looking to connect with the city on a deeper level, Slavin is an essential and meaningful stop in Bratislava. A beautiful and respectful monument that stays with you long after you leave.

A wonderful tribute to fallen heroes and the comoradery of fighting forces. The monument is huge I just wish I could see the figure atop the pedestal. It's a marvellous space. There are also fantastic views allover the city, the castle and the river.

Even though it’s quite far from the city center and probably sits on the highest point of Bratislava, the walk there felt like a tribute to history. The scenery was stunning, and the place invites moments of quiet reflection.

Here’s a polished under-500-character review: A powerful and solemn war memorial offering panoramic views of Bratislava. Slavín honors fallen soldiers with impressive statues and a tranquil atmosphere. The surrounding park is peaceful, perfect for reflection or a quiet walk. The combination of historical significance, architecture, and views makes it a meaningful and memorable visit.

Thoughtful, elegant, peaceful war memorial with outstanding views of Bratislava. Well worth the walk up.

Sights & Landmarks
The Most SNP (UFO Tower) in Bratislava is an iconic structure that offers more than just breathtaking views of the city. Situated atop the SNP Bridge, it provides panoramic vistas of the Danube River, Old Town, and Bratislava Castle. The tower's distinctive flying saucer design makes it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts and curious travelers.
Went up the UFO Tower after dark and it was such a cool experience. The whole city looks amazing lit up — you can see the lights reflecting off the Danube, the castle glowing in the distance, and all of Bratislava spread out below you. It’s honestly one of the best night views I’ve seen anywhere. The elevator ride up is super quick, and once you’re at the top, the observation deck gives you a 360° view of the city. It’s peaceful, quiet, and kind of magical at night. We grabbed a drink at the bar afterwards — prices are a bit higher than average, but it’s totally worth it for the atmosphere and the view. The staff were nice and everything felt really smooth and well organized. If you’re visiting Bratislava, I’d definitely recommend going up at night — it’s the perfect spot to end the day and see the city from a whole new perspective.

The tower itself has nice views (some of the best in Bratislava) and it's not too expensive to get on the view platform. Also, we didn't wait long for the elevator. However I would not recommend dining at the restaurant or getting a drink there as the prices are not really justified by the view.

If you have more time to spend in Bratislava, the UFO tower is worth seeing. Wonderful view over Bratislava and the surroundings. The Danube and the ships can be admired in all their splendor. As less pleasant parts I can list the fact that there are not many signs to the entrance to the UFO (maybe I didn't see them), the lady at the bar reception seemed a bit bored or maybe she wasn't having a good day and while we were climbing the stairs to the promenade there was a smell of sewage. All in all, I repeat, it is worth visiting.

Somehow I expected a bit more for such an iconic place. I don’t know if they’re working in the outside looks, but yeah… I don’t know… the view of the Danubio is impressive, but for the rest, no much for me to do… you also had limited mobility in the restaurant area…
Almadzu M — Google review
I came a 2nd time to Bratislava, Slovakia 🇸🇰 just to enjoy the UFO tower and it's rooftop restaurant where the whole city can be seen. Took the train from Vienna and it was quite easy to reach. The staff were very friendly and understanding. The food and experience was wonderful, where the waiters explained each presented dish. Overall for a dining experience of 80€, it was quite a nice experience for me trying a fine dining restaurant for the first time. All media show the tower's panorama and the restaurant inside. I also didn't have to pay the tower's entrance fee since I had reserved in advance for the restaurant. The tower was shaking a bit from the vehicles passing through the highway 🛣️, which was a little bit uncomfortable.

worth for the view, but the problem is the prices as always. for a short 1 minute zoomed view, you have to pay like 1 euro, something which I did before I remembered just after that moment how I was able to see it all alone with an actual camera, the machine qorls hard by the way because i had a coin stuck there for a while. the person up there sells some drinks and is very helpful, but unfortunately nobody wants to buy anything from there and its kinda sad. the lift is kinda creepy but it has its own charm. as long as you have a nice budget, you can visit it
Alex — Google review
The view from the UFO Tower is definitely the highlight – you get a lovely panorama of Bratislava and the Danube, which is hard to beat. Compared to observation points in nearby capitals like Vienna or Budapest, it feels smaller and less polished, but still worth it if you’re in town. That said, accessibility and health & safety don’t seem to be a priority here. The space isn’t very clean, and I wouldn’t recommend the bar based on my visit. At €10 per person, it’s not bad value for the view alone, but don’t expect much beyond that. As far as sightseeing in Bratislava goes, this is an “ok experience” – not exceptional, but decent for first-time visitors.
Tibor B — Google review
The elevator ride up the bridge tower alone is worth it. The 360° views over Bratislava and the Danube are phenomenal, especially at night when the castle lights up. Critique: Drinks are pricey (cocktails around €15), but you’re paying for the view.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Perched on a hilltop in Bratislava, Slovakia, the iconic Bratislava Castle is a reconstructed Baroque fortress with roots dating back to 907 A.D. This national museum offers visitors a glimpse into the city's intriguing history and serves as a prominent landmark dominating the capital's skyline.
What a lovely place, perched up over the city as castles often are, providing great views across the city and river Danube. Free entry to gardens around the castle and well worth a visit. There is more than one entrance and exit to the castle, but the main entrance at the top of the steep hill has the nicest entrance with a lovely gateway entrance. There is a red bus that takes you up and down the hill, l didn't use it so unsure of the cost, but worth knowing if you are not great with steep climbs.

Very cool castle. Unfortunately it was super foggy the day we visited, so we couldn’t enjoy the view, but it gave a nice mysterious vibe to the castle. The gardens are beautiful, and the inside as well. Nothing too special if you’ve visited other big castles in Europe, but I’d say it’s worth it of you have a couple of hours to spend

Perched on a hill overlooking the Danube, this white fortress offers the best panoramic views in the city. The museum inside is skippable unless you’re into Slovak political history - the real attraction is the gardens and views from the terrace. Sunset here is spectacular. Tip: Visit in the late afternoon and walk down via the old stone steps into the Old Town for dinner.

Definitely worth a visit. A real castle on the hill. You can walk to it from the city centre, taking around 20-30 minutes but it’s an uphill route. Although inside the castle, there’s not much to see, I still really like the view from the tower. You can also visit the castle from the outside in the evening as well.

Bratislava Castle is an absolutely stunning landmark that dominates the city skyline and offers breathtaking views of the Danube River. Its elegant white façade and four corner towers give it a majestic, timeless charm. Inside, the castle houses fascinating exhibitions about Slovak history and culture, beautifully presented in a modern yet respectful way. The surrounding gardens and courtyards are peaceful and well maintained, perfect for a quiet walk or photo stop. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just enjoying a great panoramic view, Bratislava Castle is a must-visit destination that truly captures the spirit of Slovakia.

Bratislava Castle is absolutely worth the visit. The walk up is relaxing, and once you reach the top, the views over the city and the Danube are incredible. The castle itself is clean, well-kept, and full of history, but what I loved most was the peaceful atmosphere around the gardens and walls. It’s one of those places where you can take your time, enjoy the scenery, and really appreciate the city. A must-see when you’re in Bratislava!

It's a must do on your visit to the old town in Bratislava. The views are great. I suggest walking up to the castle first before going down to the town. Lovely manicured gardens.
Munjoo M — Google review
The castle has great outsides and looks that has been maintained very well. Great to go walking or just outside coffee. The inside exhibitions at least from mi pov are very minimalistic. For the same price you can get to great exhibitions in other countries, at some point there were paintings but no info on it, I did Google lens to understand.

Science Museums
Just 30mins from Bratislava there is a marvellous interactive science museum for kids, adults enjoy the visit as well. I was amazed that nothing similar seems to be in Slovakia. In Futura we spent nearly 3 hours with 4 and 6yrs old. They enjoyed most of the attractions, all of them were functional with notes in different languages including Slovak. The museum is well maintained with free parking and reasonable ticket prices. We will definitely come back.

Absolutely marvelous combination of entertainment and education, for all ages and paths of life. Definitely a "should-visit" if you're around. Also, at 13.15 they have a demonstration of how a Tesla coil works, pleasure to observe.

Fun for kids, they have enjoyed it a lot. Close to Bratislava.

Our experience at Futura was extremely positive. Kids of various ages will be wildly entertained by the very ingenious and engaging contraptions and games. In addition, they also have an entire daily schedule of events (planetarium, science experiments, etc.), which is again very child oriented. They also have a small bistro where you can get good coffee, sandwiches and other refreshments. We were there for 4 hours with a 3.5 year old, and we only left because we had to be somewhere else :)

Really cool place, great for going with kids and the 5D cinema is awesome. The place isn't expensive and even though to enter the 5D cinema you need to buy tickets they are pretty cheap for the value you get.

It was awesome. 11500 for my wife me and 4years old and free for my 2 years old. We all loved it. The tesla generator was great
