The last couple of times iv been in this store i was looked after by the same girl , she maybe a Manager ? I didn’t catch her name but she will know herself when i say i was looking for a t-shirt because i sprayed bleach on one that i had. Just want to mention she was very engaging and went out of her way to get some t-shirts for me to try , she had a lovely way with customers. … Thanks again.

Brilliant service there today from an Asian girl, sorry to describe her this way but didn't get her name. she informed me of offers that I was not aware of after talking to another staff member. She was on the door when I returned and recognised me straight away and let me in. Superb staff member 👏👌

Very unfriendly staff. The Chinese girl treated us badly at the entrance, shouting to us. Promised to get inside the shop in less than 40min, waiting 1h15 min and didn't get in. I am so disappointed with the staff service. There were more people complaining at the time.

The Irish National Stud & Gardens is a must-visit destination for horse enthusiasts and nature lovers. The stud farm offers extensive walks to see the horses in paddocks and stables, while the St Fiachras Garden features a fairy trail for spotting fairies around the lakeside walk. Families can explore the famous Japanese gardens with bridges and pathways, providing an enjoyable experience for kids. Racing enthusiasts can also visit nearby world-famous racecourses like Curragh Racecourse and Punchestown Racecourse.
What a great experience for those interested in thoroughbred racing and those who may not be. The Japanese Gardens are peaceful and have a nice commentary in the guide and the rest of the grounds are well looked after. The horses are well looked after. The racing experience is good fun to end the visit.
Tony M — Google review
Good location. Plenty of parking. Lots of shade. But very very expensive! We paid over €50 for one adult and two kids. The Japanese gardens are wonderful, but actually very small. We were expecting something bigger considering the high price. The various gardens are lovely to walk around. The grounds are immaculate. Very friendly and very helpful staff.
Fergal G — Google review
Great afternoon spent at stud. Beautiful gardens and tour was packed full of information. We saw some legends during tour and mums and foals. In the interactive experience is fun. Tasty food in restaurant too
Caroline B — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. I travelled with two 7yr old boys who loved it from start to finish. They loved the race experience, the waterfall in St Fiachras garden, the foals, the fairy garden was a big hit. They spent a long time in the Japanese Gardens, exploring all the nooks and crannies and walking the stepping stones. There was none of the usual "I'm tired" or "I'm hungry". It was all go.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Peaceful Hidden Gem in Kildare! The Japanese Gardens at the Irish National Stud are absolutely breathtaking — a perfect blend of nature, artistry, and serenity. From the moment you step through the entrance, you’re transported into a beautifully designed landscape full of winding paths, stone bridges, water features, and symbolic planting. The journey through the gardens is designed to represent the “Life of Man,” and it’s both peaceful and thought-provoking. Everything is so well-maintained, and there’s always something new to notice, whether it’s the koi fish, the vibrant flowers, or the gentle sounds of water flowing. It’s a lovely spot for a reflective solo stroll, a romantic walk, or a family outing. Don’t miss pairing your visit with the National Stud nearby — it makes for a perfect day out. Highly recommend if you’re in the area or even planning a short trip from Dublin. A true hidden gem that captures the spirit of Japanese garden design right here in Ireland!
Loredana M — Google review
I throughly enjoyed my few hrs here. The food was nice, no queing and plenty of parking. Priced not too expensive, per person, but for a small family it could be alot, and we didnt do a tour. The Japanese garden was a delight, the sole reason for my visit. Though don't be expecting peace n quiet. Pristine and exceptional maintenance of the gardens. I'll be visiting again.
Kathy G — Google review
Fabulous Place to Visit. Beautiful Grounds to walk around, Amazing Trees, Plants & Shrubs, lovely to see and pet the horses. Visit the Fairy Trail, see the ducks and walk around St. Fiachra's Garden, so peaceful. Loved the Irish Racehorse Experience, very interesting and good fun. Lovely Gift Shop & Restaurant.

Loughcrew Cairns

Mentioned on
11 lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Loughcrew Cairns, located in North Meath, Ireland, is a collection of Neolithic burial chambers dating back to around 3300 BCE. While not as famous as Newgrange, these ancient passage graves are a must-see for anyone interested in Ireland's ancient history. The site features clusters of megalithic cairns on the Slieve na Caillaigh hills, with public access to Carnbane East where Cairn T is the main attraction.
Absolutely loved visiting Loughcrew Cairns, an extraordinary and peaceful megalithic site hidden in County Meath. What I experienced: The narrow, single-lane rural road added to the charm, and expects calm driving! Around 25 parking spots offer quick access to the site, with a small blue info booth nearby. The short (approximately 650m) hike to the cairns is steep and includes steps, so sturdy footwear is a must. It’s not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs, but highly rewarding. Once you reach the summit, you're greeted by one of Ireland’s most historic collections of 30+ Neolithic tombs, dotted across three hills, with the crown jewel being Cairn T, known for its stunning rock art and alignment with equinox sunrise . On a clear day, the views stretch across the midlands, practically 360° panoramas, and a blissful sense of tranquility . I didn’t see any sheep during my visit, but locals say they often graze nearby, only adding to the bucolic atmosphere. There was the option to join guided tours at the nearby Megalithic Centre, which bring the site's ancient archaeology and mythology to life, highly recommended . Why it was special: A compact, scenic hike that’s both accessible and steeped in history. A rare chance to enjoy one of Ireland’s significant ancient sites without crowds. Rich storytelling from guides and breathtaking equinox alignments—pure magic. A true gem for history lovers, hikers, or anyone seeking a meaningful escape into Ireland's ancient past.
Carolina A — Google review
This is one of the most famous archeological sites in Ireland that is a burial ground for ancient people over 5,000 years ago. Caution: the walk is long and very steep.
Tom V — Google review
Historical Landmark with exceptional views and well worth a visit. Be prepared for a bit of a hike but well worth the effort, guides and information when you get there.
Uncle M — Google review
Beautiful view from the view. The tomb is maybe not overly impressive but depends on what you expect. It's a short, few minutes walk from car park but pretty steep.
MrsSaraya10 — Google review
This was better than I had expected. It is very easy to get to and very well maintained. There is a bit of a hike up to the main cairn but definitely worth it. Amazing views of surrounding g countryside.
Loz L — Google review
Great visit in spite of the wind. The place is beautiful with a great view of the surrounding area. We also really enjoyed the guided tour. I would recommend it if you are not afraid of getting through a steep enough climb.
Philippe L — Google review
An impressive megalithic site that requires a bit of hill walking to reach. Sadly, I don't think it is possible to get a key to enter the cairn anymore, but it is still worth a trip.
Joseph T — Google review
Steep short climb, great view. Amazing that people thousands of years ago built these Cairns.

The museum also features a peaceful reflection garden and informative exhibits that provide insight into the hardships endured by service personnel during the conflict. The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, making it an enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Fabulous museum. I visited with my son for an external ceramic exhibition and we found ourselves walking through the whole museum and walking thd runs walk on the grounds. Fabulous for a day. We will return in spring to appreciate the museum in full.
Jesse J — Google review
Brilliant museum, so much to look at and my little fella especially loved the trenches out the back. Plenty of things to interact with too! Has a cafe on-site but didn't go into it, from the looks of it I think it was just scones and chocolate bars along with coffees. Would highly recommend visiting!
Cocobling3739 — Google review
What a great day out. My 10 year old and 2 of his friends had a blast in trenches and even tried reinacting the war. The museum is lovely also. The staff were amazing and so very friendly. Will definately visit again.

What a great place to visit & a lot of history ,we would highly recommend & a lovely little coffee ☕️ shop on site !
Vanessa K — Google review
Fantastic place to visit. Wonderful and informative exhibits of modern irish history and an outdoor representation of a WW1 trench. Took a few hours to get through everything and could have spent more time here if I could. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will make a return visit before the year is out. (6 stars if I could give it)
Mal W — Google review
My second visit to the Cavan County Museum, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first visit. The WWI Trench Warfare installation was open this time, though only about half, it looked like. It was still interesting and informative about what the soldiers would have experienced in the trenches. The indoor museum is amazingly thorough and two visits aren’t enough to take it all in. This visit the top floor has a new exhibit about the Irish War of Independence, and there is so much history, pain and eventual triumph, though many years before peace. Here are just a couple of photos of the archeological exhibits that are so fascinating.
Heather C — Google review
A great place to spend a day, good variety of exhibitions to take in. You do need to give yourself time to wander round as there are three floors and an outside garden and area where there is a replica WW1 trench to explore. Lovely little cafe to have a bite and a cuppa as well. A really great experience, we will definitely be back.

Causey Farm

Farm household tour
Sights & Landmarks
Causey Farm in Meath offers a variety of events throughout the year, including the popular Farmaphobia during Halloween. This event features spooky attractions like zombies and evil clowns to give visitors a thrilling experience. The 300-acre mixed-use farm also hosts events for holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, along with team building activities and corporate events. Visitors can explore the working farm with limousin-cross cattle, Belclair sheep, and various crops.
We do the pumpkin patch and Christmas every year at Causey farm. Today was our first time at the easter experience. It was absolutely brilliant. My son is 5 and he had a fantastic time, we were the last to leave the car park. There were endless activities to do. We spent about 4 hours and we didn't even get to it all. The car park was a bit rough for the buggy and some parts were not fully accessible without two to lift the buggy like the swans but I knew that could be the case. We made it work. It was nice to not only have a choice of chocolate at the end. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating as usual. They are always so lovely with the children. My son said it was the best day ever. We can’t wait for next year
Leanne B — Google review
Another very enjoyable day. My kids loved it! We spent over 4 hours. Our second time at Pooka Spooka and it did not disappoint. Looking forward to their Christmas experience in December. We traveled from Kilkenny & was well worth the two hour drive.
Grainne D — Google review
Attended pooka spooka with my youngest child and my 13 year old Attended farmaphobia with her friends. Both really well run Halloween events , I highly recommend getting the fast pass for farmaphobia as she was able to move through the different screaming events quickly enough about 1hour and half while I waited in the coffee shop . The pooka spooka was really fun for the youngest ,lots of entertainment he especially enjoyed the juggling guy and flying on a broomstick. Food vans were available for both events with lots of options.
Joanne C — Google review
We attended the Ghosts of the Manor in Rockfield House last night. It was absolutely brilliant. The actors were outstanding 👏 A really enjoyable experience
Rachel H — Google review
What an absolutely incredible place to visit with your children. We have been for Christmas and now also Halloween (as well as one in the summer) and by a mile, it stands out as being the best place to go. There is so much to see and do in Causey Farm. You’d easily spend 3.5-4 hours exploring with young children (not including if you spent time in the cafe as well). Some of their activities are so simple yet so much fun And so entertaining and engaging. I highly recommend this spot for all seasonal events - Christmas, Halloween, summer. Even Dogitude, their festival for dogs is so unbelievably fun and heartwarming and is unmissable! Thank you Causey.

Christmas Experience Additional needs day, brilliant all around, the santa visit in the room, the music was a bit too loud we could barley hear santa calling out names of familys and its hurt some kids ears.

Spent all day Sunday at Rockfield House at Artival . The surroundings were absolutely beautiful. Lots of great activities and fantastic stalls selling beautiful products . The staff were very friendly and great fun . Definitely be back .Thank you .

We visited for the Santa experience with our three children ages 6, 10 and 12. We all loved it. Each stop along the way was so beautiful and every person and elf we met was so welcoming and kind. Santa was so friendly and took his time chatting with our littlest who had a question for him. The gifts were really good and the entire evening was absolutely delightful. Thank you to everyone who made it possible. It was so magical and special.

Additionally, the farm provides facilities for birthday parties and barbecue huts, adding to its appeal as a venue for gatherings with friends and family. Clonfert pet farm never fails to impress all our family over the years. They are consistently making improvements and enhancements every time wo go. Now with upgraded mini golf, new unusual creatures, playgrounds, coffee stops, bbq areas. There is honestly something for everyone to enjoy here. I could hang with the meerkat all day! Nice snacks in the restaurant or bring your own. Toilets were spotless, staff were busy all day.
Irene C — Google review
We had a lovely time here over the weekend. I was really pleased with the experience and the prices are great, usually these type of places are expensive but this was not. Food was also reasonably charged. My daughter loved the bouncy castles and go karts. Some of the animals were hiding in their huts so we didn't see them all but was nicely laid out and the animals seemed happy and well cared for.
Laura W — Google review
Fantastic place to spend the whole day really. Very clean, taken care of and entertaining.Kids had amazing time running around, checking on animals, the educational centre is fantastic! The restaurant has delicious food and the oeices are very reasonable. Can highly recommend!!
Katya O — Google review
I visited on a weekend. Though my group of 4 people got tickets at the counter on arrival, it is recommended to book tickets in advance to avoid waiting time or disappointment. The entire place is designed for kids. There are many exotic birds and animals. Some are placed in small cages whereas some are in open fenced areas. There is a separate playground for kids too. Good place to visit in a group.
Rahul B — Google review
Lots of pros: food and beverages are reasonable in quality and price. We were told no pizza before 12:30, but then we saw someone with one at 12:15 🤨 The animals seem well cared for and they have many species. The playground was a lot of fun for the kids The road is very narrow so you might have a hairy moment trying to squeeze through.
Barry C — Google review
Fantastic place.. kids have so much fun.. we had not been since last yr.. the new playground area is lovely and crazy golf
Lisa M — Google review
If the child is 5yo or bigger, will surely enjoy the place. There is golf, football ground, zipline apart from the animals.
Muhammad F — Google review
Clonfert farm is the best pet farm in the whole of Ireland and excellently maintained. We could discover a lot of exotic animals and birds like marmoset , racoons , meerkats , Alpacas , wild birds from Latin America , Africa , East Asia etc. Feeding is limited to very few animals though. The Fairy trail, artefacts, Decor , Enclosures, details on the exotic animals are intriguing. The play facilities are one of the farm’s standout features. There are multiple outdoor playgrounds scattered throughout the park with Mini golf, Kids Buggy Ride, Bouncing Castle , Mini zip line and much more . There’s also an indoor soft play area, Barn Coffee shop, cafe , BBQ Area and Birthday venues Overall a great place to visit with family & kids

Trim Castle, famously featured in the movie 'Braveheart', offers interpretation panels within its grounds. Visitors can also explore the scenic Trim Castle River Walk and Trim Historic Trail nearby. Just a short drive away, Bective Abbey and the Royal Site of Tara provide additional historical sites to explore. The castle's interior features a high altar and reredos crafted by Pearse & Sons, with intricate marble panels depicting biblical scenes.
We had a great visit to Trim Castle. It's free to enter the grounds, but it's €5 for a tour of the tower. I highly recommend the tour. David was our tour guide, and he had lots of great information. There a quite a lot of spiral stairs on the tour, and it is high walkways, so be mindful of that.
Chris A — Google review
Amazing castle.. love the history. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. The tour takes about an hour inside and will cost money, exploring the grounds is free and maybe 30 to 45 minutes for that. The Braveheart castle... worth seeing.
Stormy B — Google review
Trim Castle is a beautiful historical landmark to visit, with a rich and intriguing history. The castle grounds are free to visit and explore, whereas entering the castle is possible for a small fee of €5 per person. We decided to take the guided tour, which was led by William. I highly, highly recommend this. William is very knowledgeable and humorous. His knowledge regarding the castle's history goes far beyond what you would expect. He answered any questions posed by the group with sheer joy and enthusiasm. The tour takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, and takes you through the various rooms and floors in the castle. The view from the rooftop is amazing. Thank you William! It has been a pleasure to listen to you.
Sonolyze — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to this castle. Its history is fascinating. Plus, the views over the city from above are excellent. 1. Largest Castle in Ireland: Trim Castle is the largest Anglo-Norman stronghold in Ireland, covering an area of approximately 30,000 m². It was built in the 12th century by Hugh de Lacy as the center of the Lordship of Meath, and its massive walls with towers and a moat made it virtually impregnable. 2. Unique Architecture: The castle's central keep (donjon) has a rare cruciform shape with twenty corners, which distinguishes it from typical Norman fortresses. This three-story structure was erected on the site of an ancient ringfort and is surrounded by a massive curtain wall 450 meters long. 3. Film Role: Trim Castle became famous as the filming location for the movie "Braveheart," starring Mel Gibson, where it stood in for the medieval walls of York and London. The war film "The Big Red One," starring Mark Hamm, was also filmed here.
Alexander S — Google review
We visited Trim Castle on a sunny afternoon and absolutely loved it! Even though it’s mostly ruins today, you can still feel how grand it must have been — Ireland’s largest Norman castle, right by the River Boyne. The grounds are free to walk around, and entry to the tower is just €4 per person. The view from the top is fantastic, and it’s fun to know parts of Braveheart were filmed here. A beautiful mix of history, atmosphere, and scenery — definitely worth a visit!
Yasmin G — Google review
Trim castle has a free guided tour, I believe every hour. Interesting facts, and three built models, showing how it was built up through the years. Quite a few towers, had fallen down, or been scavenged. There is a large cathedral tower falling down across from the castle. And, when you get above the Keep, you can see by most of the stones surrounding the castle where the walls were, a sheep gate, and where most of the towers stood.
Sher P — Google review
A really great old castle, one of the largest because of the area inside the walls is quite big. There’s a really good guided tour inside the Castle Keep. You have to take the tour to see the inside, well worth it. The tour takes you all the way to the top, which is a fantastic view over the area and the town. I was lucky it was a sunny warning when I got there and took the tour and it started to rain just as I was leaving the castle. Get there early at opening before the crowds. There’s lots to see inside the Keep with models of what the Keep used to look like. You can walk around inside the castle grounds with lots of good views of the Keep from the outside. The tour guide was very informative and happy to answer my many questions.

Nestled in the charming town of Celbridge, County Kildare, Castletown House stands as a magnificent testament to Ireland's rich architectural heritage. This grand mansion, built between 1722 and 1729, is celebrated for its stunning Palladian design and opulent interiors that reflect the lifestyle of the Anglo-Irish gentry during the 18th century. Visitors can embark on guided tours at noon and 3 PM or explore at their leisure.
Advised by a local irish man, that the private ground is more like a recommendation and locals go beyond that point anyway we had an amazing walk through the park. Lots of people enjoyed it as well, as long as you don’t litter or damage anything you’ll be fine. Would totally recommend it!

It was an hour long tour. Worth visiting. felt like it was quite quick, all credit goes to the tour Guide. There is a toilet when you enter inside the house.

I really enjoyed a quiet moment at the Castletown House, overlooking the Liffey with Castletown House in the background—truly picturesque. The parklands are beautiful and free to explore, and the guided house tour . Highly recommended for history buffs, walkers, and families looking for a scenic day out

If you are looking for a beautiful park to have a great walk in this is it. What could be better it's clean and well maintained (thank you OPW). I've yet to book the house walk/talk so am looking forward to that and I know it will be well worth the visit. The History behind this beautiful estate is well worth reading up on. Talk a walk down by the Liffey ....experience bats at sundown, see swans and their cygnets, coote, water hens and ducks and I believe there's a kingfisher at some part of the walk but you'd have to wait and have great eyesight! There's a coffee shop on site also, but please....leave no trace. Dogs welcome if well behaved and again the OPW have placed dog bins so please use them. Park shuts at 19.00.

Theme park
Outdoor Activities
Emerald Park in Ashbourne is the largest amusement park in Ireland, offering a wide range of attractions for visitors of all ages. From thrilling roller coasters to a zoo with interactive petting areas, there's something for everyone. The park also features historical sites such as Kells and Mellifont Abbey, as well as the Battle of the Boyne Site.
I visited Emerald Park on a weekday while school tours were taking place. It was a sunny and beautiful day, and aside from the students, the park felt almost empty. It wasn't as crowded as I expected. Even the most popular attractions had a waiting time of just 15 to 25 minutes. The park is genuinely impressive — it's not just for children; there’s plenty for adults to enjoy too. From the outside, some rides may seem short, but once you're on them, the adrenaline makes the experience feel much longer and more intense. The food and drink services, seating areas, and toilets were all very well thought out and clean. The staff were also extremely helpful. I really enjoyed the zoo and playground areas. It’s great that they’ve designed separate zones: the Junior Zone for younger children and the Thrill Zone for older kids and adults. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes with zippered pockets. If you bring a change of clothes, you can enjoy the water rides too, especially on a warm day. The price might seem a bit high at first, but if you're not planning to skip the major attractions, it’s absolutely worth it.

We visited two weeks ago and it was definitely worth it! The staff were friendly and welcoming. There are rides for both kids and adults, which made it fun for the whole family. We also enjoyed the zoo - a nice bonus to the day. The only downside was the long waiting time for every ride. Other than that, we had a great time and would recommend visiting.
Muhon H — Google review
Generally good, I'd give it 4.5 stars in fairness. October turned out to be a good time to visit, still a bit of atmosphere but fewer crowds and less queuing. Good variety of rides, and the staff were very pleasant - friendly, and helpful. The zoo/ raptor area and petting zoo were fun and well worth the visit. Again, lovely staff. Otherwise the rides were fun, value for money, thrilling enough and well run / maintained. Worth a special mention - a really decent amount of Blue Badge parking in the car park well above average. More places should follow suit. On the down side, the 5 D cinema was very disappointing. The movement of the seats was out of sync with the movie, the 3D element was all but non existent. It was the only attraction we all thought wasn't up to par. Overall though, very good value for money including the gift shop.

Our 3 year old had the best day at Emerald park. We went on a Sunday and there wasn't any wait for the junior zone rides. Even the adult rides were only about 10-15 minutes wait. Plenty to do and see. Great experience walking into the Lemur enclosure. Food in the restaurant was amazing, massive portions and great value.
Elaine M — Google review
Brilliant day out. Went with a 5 and a 2 year old, the youngest is 96cm tall and he could go on almost all of the rides in the junior zone, which has a minimum limit of 95cm. There were about 10 rides they could go on (that we found, anyway), so they were thrilled. There's also really big playgrounds for them to run around in and expend energy. We didn't really have to queue, and we could easily leave the buggy by every ride whilst we went on with the kids. There were lots of benches available to sit.down and rest when needed. The best part of the day was the Tricky Trail, there for the Halloween season - it was amazing! Lots of interaction with the staff who.couldnt have been friendlier. We'd like to go back in the summer and when they're a little older too. One thing is that the online interactive map kept freezing, so get a paper map if you can.
Nicola O — Google review
The park is not in county Dublin and there is not Public transport from Dublin City centre. The day that we went they were not many people as It was raining quiet a lot in the morning. So, we didn't have to wait long. The park is divided in two main sections: zoo and attractions. The attraction area could be also divided between adults and children. There is enough attractions to spend the day. In the zoo area, for me the star was the secretary bird. The first time I see one so close. There is a show where they showed you three raptors: secretary bird, bold eagle and falcon. It was really impressive to see these majestic birds.

Really incredible place to visit. The quality and amenities there are fantastic. It was a great day out, plenty of toilets and snack locations (important for the kids), and the food was excellent and very reasonable priced. The rides there are very good, something for everyone! Would really recommend!

I liked tayto park since I was a child, so here are some things that I love and dont love: >The bigger rides are amazing. My personal favourites are the Endeavour and the Cú Chulainn. They make your stomachs tingle and adrenaline flow. The Cú has THE drop that me and my body will never forget, but the tracks are so loud. >The smaller ones are mighty, eg. Flight school and Air race. They're good for the family but bring the same joy as the others. >I miss when Tayto owned the park as they would give you free crisps after you went. But what I do appreciate about the new ownership is the addition of Tír na nÓg. I liked the Quest, the Celtic Dreamer was average at best, but Na Fianna Force was so good I went twice, even with a torn ACL. My leg felt stable even though it is a suspended coaster. >It seems the junior zone is fun for little kids, as it was for me when I was small. At my grown age, I still like the Pony Monorail. >The food is exquisite. I loved them swirly chips around a stick, and dont even get me started on The Lodge. It's a big wooden carvery that serves great dishes for a large volume of people. Their chips are amazing, and I like their breaded chicken, especially the Parmigiana. Love, love, love. >The staff are lovely. They are usually young people who initiate a bit of friendly talk before the ride starts. I think they are very chill. One thing is, the rides take a good 5-10 minutes to let people in and secure. >The one star taken away from my review is just from personal interactions. The clientele can be really shabby, as the teenagers are cheeky and just some strange people around the park. Overall, I really like the one and only theme park in Ireland.

Stadium
Sights & Landmarks
Croke Park stands as a monumental symbol of Irish culture and sport, being the largest stadium in Ireland and the third largest in Europe. With a staggering capacity of 82,300, it serves as the heart of Gaelic sports, hosting thrilling matches of Gaelic Football and Hurling from April to September each year. The finals for these beloved games take place every September, drawing passionate crowds that often surpass those seen at professional sporting events—remarkable considering all players are amateurs!
Felt like a Steelers home game here, great job converting the pitch to an NFL field. Had no problems getting to or around the stadium. To my Irish friends I hope the NFL did such a sacred venue justice. I look forward to seeing a Gaelic football fixture next time I’m here!

Brilliant, very Big! Wish they had this in the North of Ireland. Went to watch the NFL match. Pitsburgh Steelers vs Minnesota Vikings. first time a proper NFL league match had ever been played in Croke Park Dublin. Journey has a lot of traffic but wasn't the worst.

Croke Park is one of Dublin’s most iconic landmarks — a place where history, culture, and energy come alive. Known for hosting unforgettable sporting events, massive concerts, and top-class conferences, it captures the true spirit of Ireland. With its impressive design, vibrant atmosphere, and world-class facilities, Croke Park is more than a stadium — it’s a symbol of Dublin’s heart and pride.

We did the Skyline - Halloween special, Tales from the Pale - fantastic both stories and views. Book your ticket in advance and wrap up because its windy. Something we always said we'd do well worth it, views spectacular.
Michelle P — Google review
Amazing atmosphere. The seats are very close together and the concessions are overpriced, but we had so much fun we didn't care. There is no parking at or near the stadium. 75,000 people walked in and walked out
Caryn B — Google review
Wonderful experience getting into and out of Croke Park. They have large crowds down. Both the bathrooms and food concessions could be improved. Many concessions were out of items before the game started. There were long lines to some dingy bathrooms! We had a great time!!
Bob K — Google review
Croke Park is a must-visit if you’re in Dublin. We did the stadium tour, which was really interesting and gave a great sense of Ireland’s sports history. We even came back another time for the St. Patrick’s Day events, and it was a lot of fun—such a lively atmosphere!
Griffin P — Google review
Odd set up could only purchase beer/cider or water on the ground/pitch level which isnt a great option when you didn't drink beer / cider. Could buy various options food and drink wise up a level but couldn't bring it down. Was in the accessible section which was perfectly situated, sounds was on point (Robbie Williams gig) however still had to go out to main bar / food area which was very awkward the more the ground level filled up! A mini bar option in that section to avoid having to keep coming out and back again / trying to get through the crowds with a wheelchair would be even better. But staff were all approachable and helpful. Lack of stars is due to lack of options drinks wise jist because you are on the pitch

Brú na Bóinne

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Brú na Bóinne is a famous prehistoric landscape in Ireland, featuring three neolithic passage tombs and 90 other monuments. The most remarkable sight is Newgrange, with its immense round white stone walls topped by a grass dome. This ancient structure predates the Egyptian pyramids by six centuries and is precisely aligned with the winter solstice, allowing sunlight to illuminate the passageway under clear skies.
We did this at the end of our trip, after seeing a lot of sites. It was still incredible. We prebooked tickets the second the window opened, and sellout happens quickly, so be sure to act like these are concert tickets. We went at 930. Drove up from Dublin. We took the 3 hour tour, which seemed like a long time on paper and was actually perfect. The tour is well arranged. The guides are nice. A moderate amount of stairs and hills. In Newgrange, I was got scared at how tiny the tunnel was and turned around. The guide on the outside said that I should try again because it opens up reall big after that spot. I did. He was right, and I am so glad he convinced me. This is a must experience.
Nicole B — Google review
Best thing we did in Ireland. Highly recommend! The site and the whole experience was fantastic. Our tour guides were amazing, too. The opportunity to enter the ancient tunnel and go 20 meters in to the central room and burial chambers was unforgettable. It’s a mystery with many questions left unanswered. There’s also dozens of Neolithic/Megalithic art carvings in stone surrounding the tombs. Visitors centre was great. Loved it all!! A must see IMHO 👀 Enjoy!!

This place is truly amazing and full of history. I don’t think many people, even those living in Ireland, know about it. It feels like time travel—taking you back 5,300 years. It’s one of the oldest man-made structures on Earth and is very well protected. Make sure to book your tickets online before visiting. It’s absolutely worth more than what you pay. All the guides are wonderful and explained everything thoroughly throughout the tour. We loved it so much and learned a lot from the experience.

As a tour guide who has visited Amazing Historical site for over 20 years as a private guide Newgrange and knowth never fails to Amaze me. I think anyone that comes to Ireland and doesn't visit these sites and this Magical and mystical Boyne Valley region. The Visitor centre is one of the best in Europe also.

Incredible experience. Our guide Sinéad was brilliant, and her use of Irish throughout the tour made it particularly special. The moment where the tomb lights up was surprisingly emotional. A must-see.
Laura B — Google review
We did Newgrange and Knowth. Definitely cool but I much preferred the stone circles. They seemed more natural/untouched. These sites are extensively rebuilt - which is great to save what we can. They just didnt give any vibes at all. Maybe too many people. Sept 9, 2024. I missed Broadleas and Athgreany to see this and its one of my biggest regrets of the trip. 2nd trip we did Broadleas but Athgreany is closed indefinitely.

Newgrange, located in County Meath, is a prehistoric site dating back to around 3200 BC and is considered one of the world's oldest known prehistoric sites. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features a mound and chambers, serving as both a passage tomb and an ancient temple. Notably, Newgrange aligns with the movements of the sun during the winter solstice, creating an awe-inspiring illumination within its ancient chamber at dawn.
This place was amazing! You must buy tickets before arriving. They have limited slots available for each time slot. This allows you to enter the mound. The grounds were well kept. The view is amazing. I got goosebumps after entering the mound. It's amazing to think people walked in the passage for thousands of years, just like you do. There is a museum before you enter the grounds with a lot of information. They even simulate the solar cycle in the passage. This place is a must visit while you are in Ireland.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was very happy to discover that there was a timed, guided tour with limited numbers. There's a chance to look around the visitors centre before you board a private bus to the first stop - Nowth. The tour was about an hour long, but the time went very quickly - despite the awful weather. Next stop was Newgrange. Again we had plenty of time to listen to the guide and take photographs. The highlight was being given entrance to the middle of the tomb and seeing the skill that went into making it. Wonderful, humbling experience. Well worth making the trip and very good value for money. Compared to Stonehenge, it's much better. Better value, more interesting, proper guided tours, plenty of opportunities to take pictures and limited to small groups. Stonehenge is, in comparison, almost £30 each; packed like sardines onto a bus; told to 'move along' when you do get to the stones and no guide.

Super neat place that supposedly pre dates the pyramids. The tour guides were really knowledgeable and cracked a few puns. Very neat to see all the ancient pictographs, and view some of the symbols that are present all over Ireland. I really enjoyed this visit. Perfect weather when we went.

You cannot miss visiting this UNESCO World Heritage site. Book ahead otherwise you won’t get in. Book via the dedicated website. It’s simply amazing to see and have the guide tell you about civilisations Neolithic and 3200BC. It’s the oldest site I’ve ever done.

A piece of prehistorical history. It's really impressive how these structures came to us across the millennia. There is a visitor center with an interesting exhibition. The Irish Military Museum offers a unique perspective on Ireland's involvement in the World Wars, showcasing a diverse collection of wartime artifacts. Despite Ireland's neutrality during World War II, many Irish people fought in the conflicts. The museum displays historical uniforms from various periods, including British and German uniforms from both world wars, as well as those worn by the 1916 Irish Volunteers and military personnel from the Vietnam War.
Absolutely brilliant and well worth a visit. The owner and his team are so friendly and experienced. Brilliant array of vehicles, weapons, military equipment and uniforms. Everything in this museum has a story and the owner is only too happy to tell you about it. I am a member of a Military Motorbike Club and over 60 members turned up on the day. No matter what you think you know about military history, you will learn something here. Speak to the owner and ask him about his Granddad, a strong man and great story. Well done to the team, luv your work 👍🫶

This heritage location is a must-visit. While the Google Maps show the closing time as 5 PM, it’s best to arrive before 4 PM to secure a spot. The entry fee is €12 per adult, and a guided tour pack is available from the reception. It’s an ideal spot to soak up the sunlight, with the mills visible from outside the compound wall. There’s also a beautiful park for kids and a lovely cafeteria that closes at 5 PM. This place is perfect for families, children, and history buffs. The photos which i am sharing here is captured from outside the compound wall.

We came on a Sunday morning with the kids and it was quite empty. We got a family tour all to ourselves which was quite nice. It was very informative and there was more to see than just mill related technology. The tour was quite technical though I found that at times it was difficult for the children to follow (aged 5,7,9) The highlight was definitely powering the watermill and seeing the inside wheels turn. The playground outside was also a nice reward for the kids 😅

The cathedral is known for its impressive architecture and serves as a burial site for notable figures from the county.

Such a beautiful church and lovely grounds. The view of the town below was breath taken. The stain glass windows were the best I have ever seen. So many little details all over the church.

Stayed in Armagh for a few nights , it's true what they say about this being a town full of impressive churches, this possibly being the most impressive of the bunch. I can only vouch for the outside as the evening was late and was all closed up. The Cathedral, although smaller than most others that you would class as Cathedrals. Grounds are pleasant enough to walk around, although no flat, the Church is perched upon a hill, so that the town can look up and worship the true majesty of the Lord , with the steps of attrition leading up to worship .... cor religion , it's so full of itself , if it wasn't for the buildings I'd have nothing to do with it !

Beautiful large elaborate cathedral with unending mosaics on the floor and the walls in addition to tall detailed stain glass windows. Lofty arches lead to more art work which ceiling angels watch over. A definite must see. Outside three tombs Cardinal Conway, one in Latin, and one in Irish. I do wish they had a small placard so I knew who the others were.
Carm M — Google review
A very impressive building and the artwork in the ceiling is particularly worth checking out. Lots of lost stories about Irish saints hidden up there. There is no doubt but that the building was designed to impress. It is set on a hill surveying the surrounding countryside. As was typical in the 19th and early 20th centuries it is a neo-Gothic design.

Dundalk Stadium is a premier destination for both horse and greyhound racing, offering an exhilarating experience in the heart of Ireland. This unique venue stands out as the only all-weather racecourse that combines both types of racing, making it a must-visit for enthusiasts. Beyond the thrilling races, Dundalk Stadium features various dining options, including The View restaurant, which provides stunning panoramic vistas of the racing circuit and the picturesque Cooley Mountains.
We were here last Friday for my partners birthday and we had a wonderful experience. Laura was my main contact when booking the package. She was fantastic with ideas and help. She was so patient with all my questions and made everything so easy. The View Restaurant is a real treat, the food was excellent, as was the service. There was no delay ordering food or drinks as there was plenty lovely staff to help. We both want to give Ciara a special mention and thank you. She couldn't do enough for us, and everyone around. Well done to all and thank you for making a special occasion even more special.

Me and my Family had an absolutely fantastic experience at Dundalk Racing Stadium! From start to finish, everything was handled with professionalism and genuine care. A special mention has to go to Laura—her communication in the lead-up to the event was second to none. She made the whole process smooth and stress-free, and her attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed. On the night, the floor staff were outstanding. They couldn’t do enough for us—always on hand, friendly, and going out of their way to make sure everyone had a brilliant time. It really made the experience even more enjoyable. The stadium itself is a great venue, and when it’s matched with this level of service, it makes for a truly memorable night out. Highly recommend for a night at the races!

Visited Dundalk Stadium for the first time for dog racing and had a great evening! The atmosphere is amazing — lively, exciting, and full of energy. There’s plenty of free car parking, which is a big plus. On the ground floor, there’s a takeaway café — handy for a quick bite, but the food was quite plain, with no seasoning or much flavour. Upstairs there’s a full restaurant with panoramic views of the track; we didn’t try it this time, but it’s definitely on the list for our next visit. The stadium is clean, well-organised, and offers both greyhound and horse racing events. Great facilities, bars, and plenty of seating. I hope that next time we’ll have a bit more knowledge about dog racing itself — for now, we just enjoyed the spectacle!

Dundalk provides a key outlet for Irish racing, so that I am sure is important, and I think it would be a good place for a company outing. The greyhound racing just with horses instead of greyhounds felling is just not for me.

A few of us went here for a night out. Had the carvery(very tasty) on arrival and then a few pints and bets. Lots of tote facilities and also the traditional bookmakers available.Thankfully came out ahead on the betting

Loved the tour, our tour guide John was amazing! And the outside of the building really does look like a castle. It exceeded even my very high expectations!

Awesome tour! Genuinely so much fun and plenty of crisps to snack on while you're going around. Josh was a brilliant tour guide.

Really good, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The tour guides were fantastic and the freebies were amazing. Highly recommended.
Katherine L — Google review
Brilliant tour with Josh, very informative and great craic. You get plenty of crisp tastings, so don't come on a full stomach, and you get plenty to take away with you. Be sure to read the email on the dress code before you attend.

This was so fun!! Katrina was our tour guide and she was great. Really friendly, good fun and heaps of interesting facts. This is a really great tour, you get to sample lots and you'll probably walk away with a packet or two. Seems like a good company and they have done a few things to lessen their carbon footprint. Our kids had an absolute blast.

Highly recommend this tour, the guides were top notch, they were informative and entertaining. It seems like our favourite crisps are manufactured in a very happy environment.

We had a great time with josh, enjoyed tasting all the crisps, tour guides were very knowledgeable and didn't feel like we missed any part of the process. Free crisps at the end very much appreciated, a greater selection of freebies and a bit more show and tell of the frying room and popcorn would have been great.

A fantastic day out at Tayto tours. It was amazing to see behind the scenes of the crisp/snack factory and get lots of samples on the way. Our tour guide Josh was brilliant, very informative and good fun. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit for something completely different!

Adventure sports center
Fun & Games
Carlingford Adventure Centre, located in the Adventure Capital of Ireland, offers a wide range of thrilling activities across three adventure sites: LAND, SEA & SKYPARK. The LAND site on Slieve Foy features rock climbing, zip wires, tree top adventures and the largest Lazer Tag area in Ireland. Meanwhile, the SEA site at the Marina offers water sports such as Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), kayaking, canoeing and windsurfing.
I went here with my school this past Tuesday, and I have to say, it was amazing. We did laser tag, paddle-boarding, and pier jumping. We were with Bree and Stephen for most of the tour and they were brilliant! So kind, patient with everybody, explained everything and were very funny! <3 I think it could have been a bit more organised but overall i would definitely recommend.

Overall amazing experience. We were nervous about just going as a family of four but we couldn't have been made felt more welcome. Laura was there every step of the way and the kids loved her, we made rockets, done archery and the netted adventure. Our favourite was the netted adventure but we loved it all definitely worth the money. The dorm room we stayed in had one of the best showers I've had

We had such a brilliant day at Carlingford Adventure Centre, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, active, and memorable team outing! We were warmly greeted by Andrew at reception, who got us off to a great start. We chose the water activities and went kayaking with Steve, who was absolutely fantastic! He made everything easy and enjoyable, shared some local history along the way, and kept the energy high with fun games on the water. An amazing experience from start to finish—perfect for team bonding!

We went on our Mystery Tour to Carlingford Adventure Centre, and honestly, they looked after us so well from start to finish! Andrew and Charm handled our booking and couldn’t have been more helpful — every detail was spot on. The activities were brilliant fun (and a great laugh!) with instructors who were full of energy, great craic, and really knew their stuff. We stayed in Slieve Foy accommodation, which was lovely and perfectly located. The centre also recommended and booked PJ O’Hare’s for our first evening and Ma Bakers for our second night — both were fantastic choices! We loved every minute of our stay and can’t thank the Carlingford Adventure Centre team enough for making it such a memorable weekend. We’ll definitely be back!

We were here for Corporate Team Bonding over two days. Day one was kayaking and it was absolutely beautiful. The scenery was good and the kayaking was for all difficulties. Loved it. Tristan was a blast, so helpful and encouraging. We had him for both days. And we did the Crystal Maze Challenge on Day two, and we have never laughed so hard. We had a blast. Team well bonded. And a great few days was had by all 🙏👏👍

I had an absolutely diabolical time at carlingford adventure center. This was mainly due to one of the workers that I believe to be called Rob. He discriminated against me and a couple of my friends due to our own personal beliefs. We also happen to be a different colour to Rob. The food was also crap and I have an upset tummy now because of it. I truly do hope that rob gets treated by his manager like he treated me. I hope he loses his job because it would have been a decent experience if Carlingford took the time to hire better workers

It's a very pleasant place for young people. My son attended the five-day camp for the second time and is very happy with it. Next year, he'll be going for the third time and is already looking forward to it. The only downside is the lack of refunds for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, and to use the money paid, he has to change the date.

A delightful house set in beautiful grounds. Our guide gave us an excellent, light-hearted tour which lasted about an hour. The gardens are very attractive and had the weather been better, I could have spent much longer admiring them! Very good cuppa in the cafeteria, but a tad on the pricey side! No matter, a thoroughly enjoyable visit.
Sue C — Google review
It's a lovely place for a walk and the grounds and house are kept beautifully, the wee cafe is great too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I'm a garden person and there isn't much of a garden compared to other national trust properties. There is lovely longer walks though. The house is very beautiful and it definitely has a magical feeling.
Lauren M — Google review
The house has been maintained meticulously but I think the NT could do more with the gardens to bring paying visitors in. Also, there’s nothing for sale related to the NT - no books, calendars etc that you see at Mount Stewart. The cafe only provides hot and cold drinks and a few filled donuts, scones and Kit Kats. You can’t get anything savoury to eat. The house itself is not suitable for those with mobility issues and neither are the gardens. The house tour, running on the hour, lasts 45 minutes. Our tour had 12 people. That’s far too many for such small rooms. 8 should be the max. For example, we were nearly on top of each other in the gun room, the child’s bedroom and the main bedroom. I felt the tour was rushed. There was no time to ask questions. The tour guide was constantly checking her watch. It felt like we had to be in certain rooms by certain times or we weren’t running to schedule. I don’t mind schedules but it was so obvious it didn’t feel relaxing and it started to override the visitor experience. That’s not how things operated in Florence Court or Castle Coole. Not sure what the flies were at in the car park as the cars were covered in them.
The C — Google review
Beautiful Natuonal trust property with 80% of the original contents. The property has a real family home feel. It's worth getting the tour of the house as it brings everything to life. Well kept grounds and lovely walks. Well worth a visit.
Bill H — Google review
The house was shut due to renovation work. There are a few paths, but these were very muddy and quite slippy when we were there and one was closed. Dutch garden is small but would be lovely in late Spring and Summer. A good place to spend an hour. Entry into gardens is free, you need to pay for entry into the house unless you are a National Trust member
Amanda M — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. The house is stunning with a long and colourful history. The house tour is very interesting and I highly recommend that. The walks around the estate are beautiful and there is lots of information for kids to learn. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The bookshop is great so pay a visit there.

Large modern mall with discount outlets for big-name fashion and shoe brands, cafes and fast food.
The parking is very good, there is lots of space. The shops are also very nice. The offers are okay if you are coming from a different county to shop. The only thing is that there is not a lot of options for food.
Abdul B — Google review
A stylish and welcoming outlet shopping destination, conveniently located on the outskirts of Banbridge with direct access from the A1. Discover a wide range of great stores in a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere.

Amanda S — Google review
What shall I say. I love the place but it can get crazy busy. I wouldn't go near it during public holidays as I don't enjoy crowds of people. Watch out for car or bike shows and Markets. There are lovely shops there, easy access and plenty of parking.
Inese E — Google review
Plenty of shops, plenty to do, games for the kids on the walk, you can easily spend whole day here. Also starting point if you plan to do Game of Thrones tour. Shuttle bus starts here (bout 20min drive to actual Studio). You can buy tickets in the office.

Has really improved since it first opened years ago. Plenty of parking and good variety of shops. Next and Nike are excellent here, I always end up buying something in both. I would also recommend visiting The Range across the road, it’s probably the best one I have been to!
Orlaith M — Google review
Checked online and the item was in stock in The Range When I got there I couldn't find it. I asked 2 members of staff for help. First shrugged and said I don't know, second said probably in diy showed him web page that said it was in stock, he said you don't want to go by that. Thank goodness I didn't do click and collect or I'd have bought something that didn't exist.

Absolutely loved our visit! So many beautiful birds, some of them were proper characters and so fun to watch! Staff were all lovely and even took time to show us some of the owls up close. They were all really knowledgeable, and it was so clear how much they loved the birds. Thank you Mike and team, we'll definitely be back ❤️
Megan W — Google review
We had the best time at World Of Owls, staff were ever knowledgable about the owls and were able to tell us about each bird’s personality. Once we had walked around the owls, falcons and Eagles we met a staff member on his way in when he asked if we wanted to hold two of the owls he had just brought back from a school visit. All of the birds were very catchy and the staff knew which bird we were talking about just based off the way we told them they interacted with us. Staff were very friendly and very helpful when at the end of the visit we had realised we lost our keys.

If you love birds of any shape and size - you'll love world of owls. Its a HOOT!!! This fantastic sanctuary is phenomenal at their care for these amazing creatures. The staff and volunteers are always open to talk about any and all things bird! Mike is such a gem to talk to and is always so welcoming everytime I have visited. They're truly a hidden gem in Randalstown Forest and I couldn't recommend visiting enough. ❤️❤️❤️
Ebe — Google review
A beautiful little trip among birds of prey from all over the world, from huge eagles to tiny little owls. The owner was extremely kind and answered all of our questions. He also let us pet a cute barn owl and a huge eagle-owl that starred in the first Harry Potter movie, which we also got to carry with a falconry glove. There's gift shop at the end of the trail with feathers from the birds. The sanctuary is at the very beginning of the Randalstown forest trail, which is also worth a visit.

Had the best time at World of Owls today! Great day for all ages definitely. We got to hold some owls and Mike told us some amazing stories about the owls- you’ll have to hear them yourself! This really made our experience, will most definitely be back soon :)
Sarah C — Google review
There were so many cool species of birds, and the staff are more than happy to tell you all about the species, the birds backstories and names. Its a good (and cheap) way to spend an afternoon. The place is run by volunteers and all the money goes into looking after the birds and animals there. We even got to hold one of the owls. Very much would recommend to families and people with an interest in birds.
Fern R — Google review
A great way to spend an hour or two. Never seen so many beautiful Owls, hawks Eagles and Falcons in one place in NI. Much better than the Belfast zoo for birds. But where is the lottery/ government investment?
Paul M — Google review
I had a quick visit last weekend and will definitely be back soon not only to see the birds again but also to learn more. The birds were just amazing and some quite comical too. Although the birds are in enclosures, they are outdoors and you get great views of them. The place is in a good wee spot. It should be on every family's list of places to go see, for sure. Wish I had found it sooner. Keep up the great work folks and thank you for caring for these creatures!

Tollymore Forest Park is a picturesque natural area in County Down, Ireland, featuring walking trails and a 1700s barn designed to resemble a church. It is part of the unique landscape of the Mountains of Mourne and offers various attractions such as the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum, coastal town of Bangor, and the Mourne Mountains. The park boasts Victorian follies like Clanbrassil Barn, grottoes, caves, bridges, and stepping stones.
Spent the day at Tollymore Forest Park and honestly, it was incredible. The scenery is straight out of a fairy tale – rivers, old stone bridges, towering trees, and even a few Game of Thrones filming spots if you’re into that sort of thing. There are loads of walking trails to choose from, whether you just want a gentle stroll or something a bit more adventurous. We did the River Trail and it was peaceful, really beautiful, and not too tough. The park itself is super clean and well-kept. There are toilets, picnic tables, and even a camping area if you want to stay longer. It’s also very family-friendly—there’s a little play park and plenty of open space for kids to run around. Parking was easy (small fee at the gate), and the place didn’t feel too crowded, even on a sunny weekend. All in all, just a lovely spot to unwind and get some fresh air. Highly recommend if you’re in the area or fancy a day trip. Bring good shoes, a packed lunch, and your camera—you’ll want to take photos!

Extraordinary location. 10/10 campervan facilities. Hot showers, heated bathrooms. Waste disposal. Staff are exemplary in keeping toys place in tip top condition. Fantastic forest walk and beautifully kept gardens. Saw the Aurora lights last night. A wonderful time, definitely a spot to come back to when in the North again.

This was one of my favorite forest experiences we had. The trails are so beautiful. The walkways are accessible but feel secluded. There are waterfalls, bridges, and little alcoves. There were lakes and picnic areas. We did a 4 mile hike and had so much fun. It is stunning.

Prepare yourself with the right walking shoes, a picnic lunch, jackets in case you get cold. Tons of places for a picnic lunch. Great little magic moments throughout. Lots of views and sounds of streams and rivers. Some small plaques explaining the history pieces. Fantastic assortment of large tree varieties, wish they had the botanical scientific names in front of many of the species as they are very unique.
B B — Google review
Beautiful forest for a nice day out in the nature. We took the river route, aprox 5.7km, it was very chilled and flat. Everything is super well kept. Will definitely be coming back again to stay at the campsite and enjoy the other routes. Tip: come during autumn, preferably last week of October, the colours are stunning!

Spent the day here while raining and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Coming from Arizona we were able to experience a true Irish Rain lol. Sunny might have been preferred but you see things a bit differently when it’s raining haha. It literally was one of the best places we have been in
Christian H — Google review
There is never a bad time for a visit. It resets your heart and emotional well-being. The changing seasons makes you feel like it's your first visit all over again. Toilets are clean and free. Even when it's busy there is still loads of parking. Bring a picnic, even in November we sat with our picnic on one of the grassed areas on fold up chairs. There are steep and uneven paths. It's a country park. So it's not going to be flat and tarmaced. But it's still great for all ages. Definitely worth a visit or 6.

Castlewellan Forest Park is a cherished destination in Northern Ireland, featuring an 18th-century arboretum, a Victorian castle, and a sprawling hedge maze. The park offers diverse activities such as walking and mountain biking trails spanning 27km, an outdoor playground, multi-activity center, and equestrian facilities. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views and explore the picturesque lake while taking leisurely strolls or embarking on more challenging hikes like Slievenaslat and Boundary trails.
I recently had the most incredible camping experience at Castlewellan Forest Park Campsite, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how well-maintained the entire park is. The grounds are pristine, with clean and spacious camping areas, and the amenities are nothing short of exceptional. The bathrooms and showers were spotless and cleaned to an unbelievable standard, with staff routinely checking to ensure everything was in perfect condition. What made our stay even more special was the kindness and helpfulness of the park rangers. Every single one we met was friendly, welcoming, and eager to assist with any questions we had. On the morning of our departure, my partner had a lovely conversation with one of the female rangers, who was so kind and attentive. She even took on board our suggestion about installing hot ash bins around the campground—a true sign of how much they care about their guests’ feedback. And the scenery? Absolutely stunning! The peaceful forest setting, combined with views of the beautiful lake and surrounding mountains, made this one of the most picturesque campsites we’ve ever visited. Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to outdoor adventures, Castlewellan Forest Park is an absolute must-visit. Five stars all the way!

We stayed at the campsite here for one night and really enjoyed it. It's a well kept site with good toilet and shower facilities although the toilets were a little bit of a distance from our pitch. The setting is fantastic with lovely scenery, nice forest walks and a large lake with a big castle on the hill overlooking the lake. From the campsite it's a short 10 min walk into the town where you have a supermarket, pubs, food outlets, coffe shops etc. We will be back for a longer stay in the near future and will probably bring bicycles and kayaks to make more use of the facilities here. There's a maze and play area's for kids to enjoy and plenty of space to run around. Definitely worth a visit.

My first time visiting Antrim Castle Gardens it was uch a peaceful scenic walk. Incudes brilliant wood carvings of childhood memories from different kids movies. Really handy car park and beach boardwalk down to a very pleasant beach area with dunes and sandy beach areas. Great for picnic, bbq family day, dog walk. This is a beautiful boardwalk out to the beach..one word of warning..check to go at low tide! We arrived at high tide and had a very uncomfortable stony walk towards Newcastle. This had to be abandoned as the tide was so high, it was up against the steep stony boulders bordering the golf course.

Absolutely worth visiting and we came second time. The beach was long and white sanded, although the wind is slightly heavier than the ones inside the bays. The way from the car park to the beach was lovely too, cows and horses onsite to interact with.

The Peace Wall in Belfast stands as a poignant reminder of the city's tumultuous past, originally erected to help quell the Northern Irish conflict. This remarkable structure has transformed into an open-air gallery adorned with vibrant murals that reflect the stories and sentiments of both nationalist and unionist communities. Visitors flock to this site not only to witness its artistic expressions but also to engage with locals who are often eager to share their rich history and cultural identity.
Peace Walls" (also known as "Peace Lines") and the political murals found throughout Belfast, particularly in loyalist and republican areas like Shankill Road and Falls Road. These walls were erected during The Troubles to separate Protestant and Catholic communities and some still stand today. The murals depict historical events, political allegiances, and calls for peace. It's an essential and highly rated experience for understanding Belfast's past and present. It's a raw and impactful glimpse into the divisions and ongoing efforts towards peace.

Very sad people still have to live like this in 2025. It’s still neat to see. If you have time to do the tour get ahold of Belfast Black taxi and request John. You will not be disappointed. Make sure you are on the same side as your hotel before 8pm or you could have to take the long way back as they do close the gates.

See i don't know why it's called a peace line unless that's like a colonial mindset thing- anything that brings quiet to the majority or the ruling class, at the expense of the oppressed is considered "peace". Anyway love the murals on the catholic side.

I visited here with friends as part of a Black Cab Tour as I wanted to learn more about the Northern Ireland Troubles that I’d only seen on TV, growing up in Birmingham in the 70s and 80s. Seeing the wall and murals helped to bring home how awful those times must have been. I was also quite shocked to see that the gates are still locked overnight. Our Guide was a similar age to me and grew up off the Falls Road, so impossible for him to be completely impartial. With me being English, we had some challenging discussions. Nevertheless, it was a good experience and a great opportunity to hear an alternative version of the British TV news.

Came over to the famous peace wall while we were at Belfast, Ireland. Origin: The first walls were erected in 1969 by the British Army following intense sectarian riots that marked the beginning of "The Troubles" (the conflict in Northern Ireland from the late 1960s to 1998). Original Intention: They were initially intended as temporary separation barriers to minimize inter-community violence between the predominantly Nationalist/Catholic neighborhoods and the predominantly Unionist/Protestant neighborhoods, particularly in areas where the two communities lived in close proximity (known as "interface areas"). Becoming Permanent: Despite the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, which ushered in an era of relative peace, the walls became longer, taller, and more permanent due to continued community safety concerns. They have stood for longer than the Berlin Wall. The Divide: The most famous and most visited section separates the Nationalist Falls Road from the Unionist Shankill Road in West Belfast. 🧱 Features and Scale Number and Length: There are currently over 60 walls in Belfast (some sources cite nearly 100 in total including gates and other barriers), stretching over 21 miles (34 kilometers) combined. Most are concentrated in North and West Belfast. Height: The walls vary in height, with some reaching up to 8 meters (25 feet) high, often constructed from a combination of brick, concrete, steel, and iron. Peace Gates: Many walls have large, fortified gates along them, which are still locked every night (typically around 6:30 PM) and opened each morning to restrict movement between the communities during hours of darkness. Murals and Messages of Peace: Over time, the walls have transformed into open-air canvases, becoming a major tourist attraction. They are covered in political murals reflecting the aspirations and sometimes the grievances of each community, as well as thousands of inscriptions and messages of peace from visitors around the world. ❓ The Future of the Walls

Bring your marker so you can write on the peace wall. It's a neat thing. People write message of hope on it, it gets painted over, people write on it again. However, it felt like it's become a touristy thing to do, and more to assuage the tourists than bring comfort to the locals.

It’s incredible, there are still such places! You’re walking through Belfast and think about the whole history…, which is even still „live”. Must see for everyone visiting the city!

Museums
Nestled within the picturesque Botanic Gardens of Belfast, the Ulster Museum stands as Northern Ireland's largest museum, a treasure trove for art and history aficionados. Established in 1821, this classical Renaissance-style institution has evolved over the years to showcase an impressive array of exhibits that span from ancient artifacts to contemporary art. Visitors can marvel at everything from dinosaur skeletons and Egyptian mummies—like the remarkable Takabuti—to exquisite decorative arts including ceramics and textiles.
Absolute gem in the middle of Belfast. Came here with two relatively young kids. Didn’t have overly high expectations, but it absolutely did not disappoint. Arrived early and there was plenty of space for pictures as it was quiet. Exhibits were well laid out, and explained at the start, along with markers in the lifts in case you got confused. So much to see and learn about. Several interactive features too which kept the kids happy. Friendly and welcoming staff, along with some really unique items to see. By far the best museum I have been to on this island. Would 100% go back, with or without kids. Good for all ages, easy to find, and right in the middle of the botanical gardens for the added beauty as you’re walking up. Parking is pretty limited to on-street so I would recommend parking up along the embankment and walking through the gardens. Also, it’s completely free to visit!

An absolutely phenomenal museum and an essential top of the list attraction for any visit to Belfast. Finding a Brueghel in the wild was amazing, as was the rest of the art on display, the various eras of historical artefacts and the myriad of zoological specimens. You can spend a long time in here and there's something for all the family. Free entry, but I highly recommend making a donation if you are able.
Oliver S — Google review
Really well curated museum that tells a story, instead of merely presenting artefacts. There are 4 floors, containing exhibitions on art, science and history. Unfortunately we had to leave after 2 hours but you can easily spend more time in there.

The Ulster Museum is an absolute gem in Belfast — and the best part is, it’s free to enter! The variety is incredible: from fascinating exhibits on Northern Ireland’s history and the Troubles, to stunning art collections, interactive science displays, and even a dinosaur skeleton that’s a hit with kids. The layout is well-organised, making it easy to explore at your own pace, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s perfect for all ages — whether you’re into natural history, fine art, or political history, you’ll find something captivating. I especially enjoyed the mix of local culture with global stories. A must-visit if you’re in Belfast!

The museum is good and vast. It has many exhibitions of historic and prehistoric things, ice age, medieval, Egyptian etc. Also natural museums, animal, sea and birds. They have also nice mineral museum and art gallery. One can spend decently 2 to 3 hours here. They quite educative as well.

So much to see and learn! And free entry too! Just make a donation if you want to. Well worth it if you do. An all round winner in my books! Such a wide range of subjects, interests and an amazing layout! I felt like a kid on a treasure hunt! So much fun! I absolutely loved it! I took the hop on hop off city tour and got off at the stop just across the street! Will definitely go again! A "MUST DO" if you're in Belfast!

We had a brilliant afternoon at the Ulster Museum with our two little ones (aged 2 and 3). They especially loved the three Discovery Rooms – so many interactive things to play with, touch and explore. It kept them entertained for ages and was perfect for young children. Such a fantastic, family-friendly museum and amazing that it’s completely free. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Belfast with kids!

An interesting museum with exhibits from throughout the history of Ireland. Well laid out and very informative. Good Cafe in the Museum serving a good variety of food and drinks. Staff were all really helpful.

Nature & Parks
Botanic Gardens, established in 1828, is a picturesque public garden in Belfast. The gardens boast a diverse collection of tropical plant species and an impressive domed conservatory. It spans 28 acres and offers a blend of horticultural wonders and open spaces for leisurely strolls. Throughout the year, the gardens host various events including festivals and concerts. Additionally, visitors can relax at the on-site café which is also ideal for studying or simply enjoying a change of scenery.
Everything you’d want from a botanical garden I guess. Nice sized park, free to enter and has a good mix of things to see between the more modern climate controlled greenhouse and the larger and more traditional greenhouse. A group of us wandered around for a while early on a Sunday to pass some time before lunch and all seemed to like it.

I was absolutely delighted to discover this hidden treasure. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the gardens and greenhouse are immaculately cared for with such dedication. It’s hard to believe that a place this beautiful is completely free to enjoy. Every corner is stunning, and the atmosphere is uplifting. An utterly amazing experience, thank you for creating and maintaining such a wonderful haven. Keep up the fantastic work! 🌿✨

Absolutely gorgeous green space in the middle of the City, such a beautiful space to wonder around in and with it being completely free as well is an added bonus. Such a beautiful place to just wander around, grab a wee coffee at the Coop Coffee Co truck in entry and away you go for a peaceful walk and enjoy Squirrel watching.

Excellent place to spend a nice few hours. Highly recommended to visit on a weekend so you get free parking around the garden. Enjoy your time at the Botanic Indoor garden and make sure you reach in the morning hours to avoid disappointment.

Very stunning location for the entire family. The beautiful colours of the flowers is music to the soul. It is definitely a surreal point to get away from the buzzing noise of the city.

It’s a green oasis in the city. It’s spacious and dog friendly. It feels more like a city park rather than a botanical garden. However, it’s still a clam and relaxing place to spend a day

Nice place but most of the indoor gardens were closed after 3.30pm. so I couldn't visit those. Very nice place to take a day out and play with kids.

The Grand Opera House in Belfast is a stunning testament to the city's rich cultural heritage, having undergone an impressive restoration that celebrates its 1895 origins. Recently revitalized with a $12 million facelift just in time for its 125th anniversary, this iconic venue now boasts a beautifully restored auditorium adorned with intricate plasterwork and ornate boxes. Visitors can revel in the exquisite details crafted by renowned architect Frank Matcham, including striking ceilings and decorative features like elephant heads.
Lovely. Building. Modern spiral staircases with bar areas and seating. Then into the auditorium with beautiful old style elegance. Seats not hugely comfortable and the rows are long - so there was a bit of standing up to let others get past to their seats.

I'm glad that I bought the ticket in last minute, when I tried to ask about the show, the staff at the front desk is kindly introduced me the show and recommended the best seat I'm looking for. And the show is awesome. The show calls ghost stories, and it actually scared audiences in good way. I enjoyed every second in the show, so glad that I decided to do that.

After being sold out, I was lucky enough to purchase tickets to a musical the day of the show. The website will resell tickets for face value when patrons are unable to attend. I believe you get a gift card for the unused dollar amount if you happen to not be able to attend the original event. The grand staircase was modern and dramatic. Friendly staff, and even in “the gods” section you could see everything on stage. Perfect size venue.

I was on musical Tina, it was fantastic show. Place was great. Acoustic was perfect.

Beautiful place, a shame there is no parking so you have to look for a space on the street or car parks far away. The interior is astonishing and worth the visit.

Went to see The Nutcracker, love going to GOH as such an elegant building. We arrived early for pre show drinks and took the opportunity to pre-order for the interval so our drinks were available at allocated spot. I thought drinks prices were reasonable for an entertainment venue (just under £28 for 4 vodka & 2 coke). The spiral staircase can be a bit dodgy when some people decide they own the space so if you’re a bit unsteady there is a lift front left as you enter, or there’s a back staircase with normal treads just past door A. The one downside to the venue is that there is no cloakroom so you will have to keep your coat with you, not an issue in summer but more problematic for a winter performance. The venue is easy to get to from the train station or city centre and there are plenty of hotels nearby if you’re staying over.

The new section of the Opera House is a really nice bright open space with a bar and seating area. Lovely stairway takes you up to the circle area. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The stalls are wheelchair friendly and I believe they now have 9 accessible spaces. Unfortunately the boxes are not available for wheelchair users. There are good toilet facilities and there are plenty of sweets and drinks to choose from for munching during the show. The closest car park is Great Northern (behind the Europa hotel).

Crumlin Road Gaol Visitor Attraction and Conference Centre is a captivating destination that invites visitors to delve into its rich history and intriguing past. Originally opened in 1846, this Victorian-era prison operated for 150 years before closing in 1996. Today, it offers self-guided tours enhanced by audio guides and holograms, allowing guests to wander through its eerie tunnels, compact cells, and even a haunting graveyard.
Very pleasantly surprised. A very informative look at life in the prison and a fairly complete history. The condemned cell and the gallows were very thought provoking. Value for money, particularly as there's free parking on site as well as a fully licenced bar in one of the wings!

A fantastic restoration and story of a Gaol throughout Belfast's last hundred years plus. Following a well planned trail you get stories, an idea of life for a variety of prisoners, the punishments, the stories and the hardships. The building itself is a stark reminder of Victorian views of punishment, separation in cells, menial work, cleanliness, religious overlay and solid structural integrity. The cafe in the former kitchens is great the food was lovely and value for money. Service was really friendly.

Wow! You will not regret coming here! Super kind staff and super interesting to learn about the history behind these walls. I met two ladies who told me that their father was incarcerated here when it still held prisoners!

What a great experience. Really well done being interactive and thoughtful with a good mix of technology integrated into the actual spaces. Although the entire space is not accessible to you, they make good use of the example spaces they created. You could spend a lot of time here and have different experiences in each section you go into. Quite emotionally moving too. Don't forget to check out the cafe.

A victorian Gaol I hear you say, Crumlin Gail takes you back in time and through the history of The Troubles. An interesting insight you won't find anywhere else and a well preserved piece of history. Worth a visit to the hangmans noose which at the end of the tour makes you think of those who having committed those heanous crimes came to an end.
Nicholas S — Google review
One of the most well curated museum I’ve visited. Interactive, informative with a well-mapped visitor journey. Definitely a must a visit in Belfast. Do expect to spend 2-3 hours here as it has a lot of information and videos.
Suzanne L — Google review
It would have been five stars if the cafe had been open! We spent about 4 hours at the Gaol and had lunch at the distillery next door. The Gaol is definitely worth a visit, to learn about the Victorian view of appropriate penal conditions for men women and children, as well as about the imprisonment of people during the Troubles. The exhibits are well laid out but the individual stories, set in different cells by video, tended to overlap with those in adjacent cells. The video would benefit enormously from subtitles. Nevertheless the overall impression was vivid and authentic.

One of the highlights of our visit to Belfast. We paid extra for the guided tour which was money well spent as our guide was entertaining, informative and brought the whole thing to life. Not to be missed.
