Changay waterfalls

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Changey Waterfall, located along the road from Kaluk to Pelling, offers a pleasant and convenient stop for tourists. The viewpoint is easily noticeable, although the route to reach it may be somewhat challenging to find. Fortunately, the availability of name boards and the assistance of Google Maps make navigation much simpler. While there may not be an abundance of things to see, visitors can enjoy spending around 5-10 minutes here taking selfies and appreciating the picturesque scenery.
It's more attractive than rimbi falls but the view point at a certain height just opposite to this majestic falls is temporarily closed. So we can go to the foot of the falls for some cool snaps by parking your vehicle on the road as it is wider near this falls.
Deb R — Google review
A place close to nature. Although there wasn't enough force in April end but the place was peaceful & crowdfree. We went upstairs to have a better view of the waterfall which was a good decision. The waterfall is safe & good for photography from this spot. You can spend around 15 mins here on the way to singshore Bridge.
Ameet S — Google review
The waterfalls is beautiful and the place is very clean.
Subhadeep A — Google review
The waterfalls is much higher than Rimbi or kanchenjunga falls. The falls is exactly on the side of the road on the way to sinshore bridge from Pelling. The road conditions are really bad in some stretches. During the monsoon it's gushing with water.
Animesh K — Google review
Changey Waterfall looks pretty much like a white line, emerging from dense greenery falling from a height of about 300 feet. With the scenic backdrop of lush green vegetation and towering hills, the falls is an ideal tourist attraction and a lovely picnic spot for the people to enjoy some relaxing moments in deep serenity. The falls is situated downhill from the last motorable point. From there, one needs to walk almost 20 minutes to reach the falls. The pathway is broken and full of leaves and branches. But visitors will forget every pain once reach the fall.
Sougata R — Google review
Good viewpoint just beside the road, easy to spot, but the road to visit the viewpoint is little difficult to find. Need a name board, thanks to google map, it was easy to find. Good for spending 5-10 min, as there is very little to view. One can take selfie, view the scenery. Place needs development. There is a place to sit and relax.
Rahul B — Google review
We visited the Changey Waterfall on the way back from completing our Pelling Site Seen. Vehicles are passing through the stream of the falls. It’s a nice one and located just beside the road having two steps. However, we then proceeded to return our hotel as afternoon . It's a beautiful waterfall ever I seen .
Anjan J — Google review
This Changey waterfall is not that one which is situated in Lava, West Bengal. This one is in Pelling, Sikkim. This waterfall is right on the road and you do not have to put heavy hard work to reach it. This location is the ideal choice for a peaceful outing. This one is a high-rise waterfall with magnetic view and you can’t help seeing at its refreshing view. You can visit this fall in any season, but the Monsoon is the best time. Near this falls, you can also find the Dentam Bazaar, which is an old village market. Reaching this place is easy because it has a well-established roadways. You can hire local jeep/taxi services at an added convenience. This place is a peaceful 4-hour drive from The Elgin Mount Pandim, Pelling.

Simana View Point

Sights & Landmarks
Lookouts
Located at an elevation of 7500 feet, Simana Viewpoint is a plateau measuring 60 feet by 40 feet, providing stunning vistas of the adjacent plains, the snow-covered summits of Mount Kanchenjunga, and the small villages of Nepal. The term 'Simana' translates to 'border' in Hindi. This region marks the Indo-Nepal border, with the road being part of India while the viewing area is situated in Nepal. However, visitors are permitted to cross over to enjoy the captivating scenery.
Somnath M — Google review
🌄 Simana View Point – Beautiful Scenery, But Needs Better Maintenance 🌄 Simana View Point, located on the India-Nepal border, is truly a breathtaking destination. It’s a must-visit spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. From here, you can clearly see the Nepal border, and the background is often graced with a stunning view of the Himalayan mountains, making it a perfect place to capture some memorable photographs. The view, especially on a clear day, is simply amazing. You can spot the distant hills and valleys, and the unique feeling of being so close to an international border adds to the charm of the place. However, while the natural beauty is remarkable, the cleanliness of the spot is disappointing. Many tourists, especially some from West Bengal, tend to throw garbage around carelessly. There seems to be zero civic sense, and it’s painful to see such a scenic location being spoiled by plastic wrappers, bottles, and waste. It’s a humble request to visitors: please respect nature and do not litter. Also, a quick tip for travelers — the local shop near the viewpoint remains closed on Mondays, so if you’re planning to visit, avoid that day if you’re expecting to grab a tea, snack, or souvenir. ⸻ Overall Rating: 3.8/5 ✅ Amazing mountain views ✅ Nepal border visible ✅ Great spot for photos ❌ Poor cleanliness due to irresponsible tourists ❌ Shops closed on Mondays Final Thoughts: Simana View Point is worth visiting for its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere. But the charm of the place can be preserved only if we, as visitors, act responsibly. Let’s keep our hills as clean as our camera rolls!
Sreyansh D — Google review
Above the clouds with a view you'll never forget! Simana View Point is an unforgettable stop between Darjeeling and Mirik. Located right on the India-Nepal border, this place offers breathtaking panoramic views—you literally feel like you're standing above the clouds, especially on a misty morning. On clear days, you can even spot the majestic Kanchenjunga range. The peaceful atmosphere, cool breeze, and prayer flags add to the charm. There are small tea stalls and momo vendors nearby, making it a perfect place to relax and take in the beauty. A must-visit if you're exploring the area!

Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, located in West Sikkim, is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers. The sanctuary offers year-round views of Kangchenjunga and is particularly famous for its vibrant rhododendron blooms during the spring months of March and April. The trail is relatively easy, making it accessible to visitors with moderate fitness levels. Along the way, hikers can enjoy the serene surroundings adorned with prayer flags and rest shelters at regular intervals.
A small trek from hilley within the quiet jungle and birds chirps. A must recommend if you love flower and nature. Note- Visit in Late march/april
Soumya D — Google review
Raw nature with blooming beauties. Rhododendrons are so attracting and in clusters, they sooth eyes and feelings. A five kilometer hike gives unique experiences. A birder's paradise. But, the recent hype is harming this biosphere. Nauseating crowd, loud sound and extravagant littering is alarming, astoundingly by a large chunk of locals, ruining the ambience. The Govt. of Sikkim must look into this to preserve such a natural treasure.
Kaushik D — Google review
This is a very well known hiking place of 5km one way from Hilley to Barsey throughout a jungle of various trees and birds. It is almost flat so anyone can easily cover it within. 2 / 2:30, hrs. At the end there is Only Rhododendron in different colours. Best time to visit : throughout the year other than the rainy season one can get the spark of the beauty. There is 4/5 shades and resting places in this way. Only Guras Kunja is one resting place and hotel at the end but pre-booking is mandatory if anyone wants to stay there. Sharing some glimpse of The way and Rododendrons.
Raka C — Google review
The mountains called, and we answered! Our recent hike was filled with moments of pure bliss, until Mother Nature decided to give us an unexpected shower on our way back. Soaked but spirits undampened, we reflected on the beauty surrounding us. It was a little disheartening, though, to see dustbins overflowing in what we understood to be a plastic-free zone. Still, the thought of this place during the rhododendron season – a carpet of vibrant blooms – is enough to make us want to plan another trip
Lhamu S — Google review
Calm, beautiful, this 10 km up and down hike will connect you to the nature , far away from that city’s hustle and bustle. Forest covered with variety of Rhododendrons, tall pine trees.. Though the roads from sombaria to okhrey are really bad, it will be a tiring trip upto okhrey so it would be better to go for hiking next day
Elina T — Google review
If you are visiting West Sikkim in March or April, do make it a point to visit this place.. The whole jungle is covered with Rhododendrons.. To reach the location one has to track for 5 KMs one way. It's a easy track..
Sanjeev S — Google review
Best time to visit Barsey is from March last week to April Last week. You can be witness the ful bloomed paradise of Guras in this time frame. If rain doesn't destroy it then the time frame can expand to another 10-15days. You've to trek 5km if you're staying at Hilley or you can pre book a stay at Guraskunj to stretch your arms on the red valley. Guraskunj has dormitory and tent stays and one group staying room too. Though the 25km reaching road till Hilley from downhill is rough. I road by bike and it was a little bit challenging but after taking that handle the place where you'll reach will worth. Try going on weekends as it'll be super crowded by local people.. Enjoy Barsey.. #happy2help

The trek to Sandakphu is challenging but totally worth it as it rewards you with mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views. Sandakphu... Top of West Bangal... 🏔 You can visit this place in two way, one is trekking... Another is by Land Rover. Sandakphu is famous for the magnificent view of Kanchenjunga family & Everest family. The perfect visibility of "Sleeping Buddha" Appears from here... If you don't visit Sandakphu, do it first... You will get a unforgettable memory... 🏔🤍

Fantastic place but the road from Tumling will be hell even in a 4x4. It's very cold (once it gets cloudy and chilly) even in October so take appropriate warm clothes. Ideal for treks. Do not mess with the yaks and the horses. The yaks might chase you thinking you have salt. Running water is a big issue here.
Pritesh C — Google review
West Bengal s highest mountain peak but it is very crowdy. Beautiful sceneries can be seen from here . Most favourite trekking attraction is sandakhfu for trekkers. You can also come this place by landrover but trekking is more adventurous.
Debraj B — Google review
One of the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I was there in the month of February 2024. It was a bit off season and at night temperature was around -5 degree. Hotel sunrise is one of the choices for staying there. But when I stayed there , there was no electricity, so as usual there was no room heater or anything to keep us warm, so in that climate condition it was a bit difficult for all the travellers. Even glass windows were frozen inside the room. But the very next day when we saw the clear sky and the beautiful sunrise , all our exhaustion had turned into joy and happiness.you can visit the place either by hiking or by car , you can reach to Manibhanjan from NJP , from Manibhanjan you can hire a guide if you want to reach the place by trekking,it’s a 4 days trek only for sandakphu , and if you want to cover Phalut , then it’s a 5 days trek. Another option is you can take the legendary Land Rover or Mahindra Marshal kind of jeeps to reach there. If the sky is clear then you can see the most mesmerising view of Kanchanjunga range. I am sharing some photos from my gallery. Keep travelling keep knowing the u know.

Reach there via Phalut. Trekked approx 21 KM. Exhausted, dwindling somehow reached the trekkers hut. But the next day sunshine gave the tranquility I craved for long

Sandakphu is the highest point of the ridge and of the state of West Bengal, India. The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit with a few hotels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. Must visit place in West Bengal, its beauty is beyond expectation.
Souditi C — Google review
One of the most difficult terrain to conquer. ROADS are almost non existence. But adventurous. If you're looking for adventure you can definitely visit this place. View of Kanchenjunga is Mesmerising and the sunrise is just wow
Niraj B — Google review
The last 14 km trekking from Tumling to Sandakphu is totally WORTH it!! I would suggest everyone who lives in West Bengal to atleast visit this place once in their lifetime. This place is indescribable and unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! ❤️ One of the best place I've been. Very cheap, if you know the place and people. If you want to go by car, book Land rover car from the ticket counter. It will be very cheap for you. PLEASE don't allow the "Tour Guide" book the Hotels and Cars, they will charge double. The Guide will tell you Hotels/cars are not available etc... Just to fill up their pockets. Always book cars and hotels by yourself. Don't go for so called guides (dalals). People are very nice and helpful over there.. I've been to this place two times.

Nothing much to see except some pet elephants. Maybe I was expecting too much. I travelled from dbg to Kosi tapu by bike. The ticket only for two people was 700INR or 1000 nepali rupees as we were from India. It's just 100 rupees for nepalis and it was not worth that money at all for us because the elephants out of the sanctuary and hence free as they were domesticated and kept in chains.

Janakpur Railway Station is a convenient transit point for traveling between Nepal and India. The train timings are punctual, and I had a comfortable journey in the AC coach to Jayanagar, India. The ticket prices are fair, but the train stops feel unnecessarily long. Local buggies around the station are quite congested. The biggest drawback is the cleanliness—it definitely needs better maintenance. Overall, a decent travel option with room for improvement!

NRW is pride of Nepal but train fair is too expensive of AC compartment from Janakpur to Jayanagar. NRW must provide facilities in this fair.

The waiting area was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of seating and amenities such as Wi-Fi, and clean restrooms. I also appreciated the wide range of food and beverage options available at the station's vendors, which made waiting for my train a more enjoyable experience. The station's platform was also well-maintained and clearly marked, making it easy for me to board my train without any confusion or hassle. The train itself was clean and comfortable, with ample seating and air conditioning to keep passengers cool during the journey. One of the highlights of Janakpur Railway Station is its beautiful architecture, which blends traditional Nepalese design with modern construction. The station's façade is adorned with intricate carvings and colorful murals, adding a touch of local culture and history to the overall experience.

Jaanki temple pride of mithila. It reminds us the glory of mithila, raja janak and mata sita. My nani always wanted to visit Janki temple, so we all decided to go to Janki temple. So We hired a car and went to Janki temple. Reaching there we saw the temple, a high white colored temple in which red and green colors were also used; its grandeur was spreading in all four directions. Our day was good, so we could have darshan of mata sita very easily. The attitude of the pujari's of the temple was very good towards the devotees. The temple was quite clean. We also saw the marriage place, it was also equally grand. Everything in the entire temple was very good except one thing and that was the toilet, the toilet was arranged at a distance where a lady used to sit and before using the toilet we had to pay money, without money she would not let us go inside. Due to her we and more than us our ladies faced a lot of problems.

Janaki Mandir is a major Hindu temple in Janakpur, dedicated to Goddess Sita (also known as Janaki), the daughter of King Janaka and wife of Lord Rama. It is one of the largest and most important pilgrimage sites in Nepal. The temple celebrates the sacred love story of Goddess Sita and Lord Rama, making it one of the most spiritually uplifting places in Nepal. Its bright white façade, domes, arches, and carvings make it look like a palace—especially magical during sunrise and evening lights. Colorful Madhubani/Mithila paintings around the complex reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Maithil people.

Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the sacred Shri Gareeb Nath Mandir as part of a wedding function. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and joy as the baraat made its way to the temple. One of the most touching moments of the celebration was when the groom (dulha) was taken to the temple to offer his pranam to Lord Gareeb Nath before proceeding to the wedding venue. This age-old tradition symbolizes respect, humility, and the seeking of divine blessings for a prosperous and happy married life. The temple, known for its peaceful and spiritual ambiance, was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Sounds of conch shells, temple bells, and traditional music created an enchanting vibe. Friends and family accompanied the groom, all dressed in festive attire, adding to the vibrant energy of the moment. Witnessing the groom bow his head in reverence before starting a new chapter in his life was truly heartwarming. It reflected the deep cultural and spiritual values that continue to hold importance in modern weddings. The entire experience at Shri Gareeb Nath Mandir left a lasting impression—one of faith, celebration, and shared joy.

According to religious beliefs, the history of Baba Garibnath Dham dates back around three hundred years. It is believed that this place was once a dense forest with seven peepal trees in the middle. Legend has it that when these trees were cut, a blood-red substance started oozing out, and a massive Shivalinga was discovered. Locals claim that Baba appeared in the dreams of the landowner, and since then, puja-archana has been performed here. Baba Garibnath Dham is a sacred Hindu site located in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India. Baba Garibnath Dham is one of the oldest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known as the 'Deoghar of Bihar.' Devotees from across the district and state visit here to offer prayers and seek a better life. It is believed that worshiping during the month of Sawan holds special significance, which helps fulfill all desires.

I recently visited Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Saheb (Patna Sahib) with my family after a long time and it was a deeply peaceful and spiritual experience. The Gurudwara is beautifully maintained — the white marble, golden domes, and serene atmosphere fill you with calm. Knowing it’s the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji made the visit even more special. The Langar was simple and delicious, served with great devotion. However, one thing that didn’t feel right was being asked to join both hands while receiving roti — it almost gave a feeling of being treated like a beggar rather than a devotee. I completely understand the intent of humility, but perhaps this could be done in a more respectful way. Overall, it’s a divine place that fills you with peace and positivity. A must-visit for anyone coming to Patna. 🙏

The sanctum, where devotees bow in reverence, radiates calmness and spiritual strength. One of the most touching aspects of the gurudwara is the practice of langar (community kitchen), where free meals are served to all visitors regardless of faith, caste, or background. The volunteers’ dedication and the spirit of equality here leave a lasting impression. The gurudwara is well-maintained, though it can get very crowded during festivals and important Sikh occasions. Golghar, a stupa-style granary completed in 1786, is a prominent tourist attraction in Patna. Although climbing the 145 stairs to the top for city views may be restricted currently, it remains a popular spot for picnics and hosts sound and light shows from Tuesday to Sunday. Originally built as a storehouse, Golghar now stands as a recreational site drawing both local and international visitors annually.
It is a peaceful historical place, there is also a park here, people often come here in the evening to listen to the chirping of birds. You must visit here, it is huge and can be seen closely.

Visitors can climb the spiral staircase, which has 145 steps, to enjoy breathtaking views of the Ganga River and Patna city. Though never used for its intended purpose due to a design flaw, Gol Ghar remains a fascinating historical landmark.Golghar, an enormous granary, was built by Captain John Garstin for British army in 1786, after the terrible impact of 1770 famine. The winding stairway around this monument offers a brilliant view of the city and the Ganga flowing nearby. It is pillar-less with a wall of thickness of 3.6 m at the base height of 29 m..The Golghar or Gol Ghar, is a large granary located to the west of the Gandhi Maidan in Patna, capital city of Bihar state, India.

Not much of a monument but a place to chill . Often less crowded , good for individuals, couples ,who want to spend time alone. Maximum half an hour is required to fully explore it.
Mohammad R — Google review
The Golghar, meaning "Round House," is a monumental granary located in Patna, Bihar. It was commissioned by the then Governor-General Warren Hastings and constructed by the British engineer Captain John Garstin, with completion in 1786. Its primary purpose was a humanitarian measure: to act as a massive storehouse for grains to prevent the widespread starvation witnessed during the devastating Bengal Famine of 1770. Architecturally, the Golghar is a magnificent, beehive-shaped dome, rising 29 meters high. It is notable for its pillar-less design and massive walls, nearly 3.6 meters thick at the base, which maximized internal storage space. The structure's design was inspired by the ancient Buddhist Stupa style, creating a striking historical silhouette against the modern cityscape. The most distinctive feature is the twin spiral staircase wrapped around its exterior, comprising 145 steps. This ingenious design was meant to allow workers to ascend with grain sacks on one side and descend on the other without obstruction. Ironically, a rumored design flaw, the doors opening inwards, meant the granary was never filled to its intended capacity of 140,000 tons. Today, the Golghar functions as a prime tourist attraction, no longer serving its original utilitarian purpose. The climb, while lengthy, is worth the effort, rewarding visitors with a breathtaking panoramic view of Patna and the flowing Ganga River, making it an iconic spot for photography. Ultimately, the Golghar stands as a potent symbol: a testament to colonial-era engineering and a solemn reminder of the famine it was built to combat. It is an unmissable landmark that beautifully merges historical context with striking architecture, anchoring the heritage of the city.
Rizwan U — Google review
Golghar in Patna was quite disappointing and didn’t live up to the hype. The structure itself is historically interesting, but the maintenance is very poor. The area around it is unclean, with litter scattered and little effort made to preserve the site’s heritage value. The inside of the monument is closed to visitors, so there’s not much to actually experience except walking around the dome. The viewpoints that were once popular are no longer accessible, and the surrounding gardens are neglected and poorly kept. Overall, Golghar feels more like a forgotten monument than a tourist attraction. With better upkeep, lighting, and informative signage, it could be a beautiful historical spot, but in its current state, it’s not worth a special visit.

It's religious place and you can feel the fervor of it when you are in the vicinity ... So, yeah visit here for once ... 👍

This temple is run by a trust which use money of the temple in the development for example they have hospital etc. This is the most important site for hindu. There is shoe counter outside the temple which is free of cost. Must try Navedam sweet which is made up of pure ghee and dry fruits. After hanuman darshan must see the stone on the 1st floor which keep floating in water. This temple is just outside the Patna railway station. Therefore it is one of the my favourite place in Patna to visit.

Nature & Parks
Buddha Smriti Park, situated near Patna Junction, is a serene green space that offers a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The well-maintained park features meticulously manicured gardens, a modern Buddhist museum, meditation hall, bodhi trees, and a large stupa. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and catch the mesmerizing laser show in the evening. The park also provides insights into the life and teachings of Lord Buddha through its museum.
A very pleasant park located right next to Patna Railway Station. It closes by 7 PM, and the entry fee is just ₹20. Ideal for those looking to spend some time in a green, peaceful environment before catching a train. A great spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.
Manjunath V — Google review
Buddha Smriti Park in Patna is a beautifully maintained urban retreat that perfectly blends serenity with architectural elegance. The lush garden landscape is immaculately designed, offering peaceful walking paths, manicured lawns, and shaded areas ideal for quiet reflection. The main monument — the grand stupa — stands as an impressive centerpiece, symbolizing calm and devotion with its striking dome structure visible from afar. However, once inside the stupa, there isn’t much to explore apart from the single Buddha statue installed within the dome. The simplicity, while spiritually appealing, may feel a bit underwhelming for visitors expecting more activity or exhibits. On the brighter side, the park also houses a well-curated library and museum that offer deeper insight into Buddhist teachings and history, making the visit more enriching for those interested in the cultural aspect. Overall, Buddha Smriti Park is worth visiting for its serene environment, beautiful landscaping, and architectural charm, though it’s more suited for a short, peaceful visit than a day of exploration.

Nice Meditation Centre near New Patna Junction The centre is surrounded by greenery, making it a peaceful and calming place for meditation. However, the management needs to improve its upkeep. The cleanliness isn't as good as it used to be. With better maintenance, this place could truly be a gem for those seeking peace and relaxation.

Buddha Smriti Park is a beautifully designed urban oasis located in the heart of Patna, right next to the Patna Junction railway station. Built in honor of Lord Buddha and inaugurated by the Dalai Lama, the park is a peaceful, spiritual, and cultural space that stands out amidst the city's chaos. The highlight of the park is the majestic Central Stupa, which houses sacred relics of Lord Buddha brought from several countries including Japan, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. The architecture is minimalist yet powerful, creating a tranquil atmosphere perfect for meditation and reflection. There’s also a well-maintained meditation center that offers a calm retreat from the busy surroundings. The park is clean, spacious, and well-landscaped with green lawns, walking paths, fountains, and symbolic Buddhist sculptures. It's ideal for a morning or evening walk, or just sitting quietly amidst nature. There’s a small museum and gallery inside that showcases the life and teachings of Buddha, adding educational value to the visit. Entry is very affordable, and security is good. It’s a great place for families, tourists, and even solo visitors interested in history, spirituality, or just looking for a quiet place to relax. However, do note that photography inside certain areas (like the stupa) may be restricted. Overall, Buddha Smriti Park is a must-visit attraction in Patna — clean, serene, and culturally rich. It offers a refreshing break from the city’s traffic and noise, and leaves you with a sense of peace and reflection.

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, also known as Patna Zoo, is a sprawling zoological park and gardens that opened to the public in 1973. Spanning across a vast expanse of 153 hectares, it is home to over 800 animals from more than 110 species, including rare and endangered ones like the Royal Bengal tiger, chimpanzees, hippopotamus, giraffe, rhinoceros, zebra, crocodile, gharial and leopard.
I visited this place during the summer season but the best time to visit during the winter season. We enjoyed it a lot and got to Chance to see many animals like Black Panther, Giraffe, Zebra, White tiger, white peacock, Chimpanzee, Elephant, Fish aquarium and many more. It's the best place to visit on weekdays because it was less crowded. So overall a great experience.

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, commonly known as Patna Zoo, is one of the most popular and well-maintained attractions in Patna. Spread across a large, lush green area, it offers a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The zoo is home to a wide variety of animals, birds, and reptiles, including tigers, lions, elephants, leopards, crocodiles, deer, and several species of exotic birds. It's a great place for children and nature lovers alike. The layout of the park is spacious and thoughtfully designed, with walking paths, shaded seating areas, and clear signboards. There’s also a boating lake inside the park, which adds to the overall experience and offers a fun break during the visit. The botanical section has a good collection of trees and plants, making it both a zoological and botanical garden. Entry tickets are reasonably priced, and the park is usually clean and well-kept. It can get crowded during weekends and holidays, so weekdays are better if you prefer a quieter visit. The battery-operated carts are a convenient option for those who may have difficulty walking long distances. The park management has taken good steps toward animal welfare and conservation education, with information boards and awareness efforts throughout. There are basic refreshment stalls and restrooms, though these could be better maintained. Overall, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park is a must-visit if you're in Patna — perfect for families, school trips, or anyone looking to enjoy nature and wildlife in a relaxed setting.

Visited Sanjay Gandhi Zoological Park (Patna Zoo) with my kids, and we all had a lovely time! The place is full of greenery, well-maintained walking paths, and a good variety of animals and birds. My kids really enjoyed watching the tigers ,snakes,Bear etc the toy train ride not functional We went on 6th October — technically winter hasn’t started yet 😄 — but still, the zoo followed winter timing and closed at 4:30 PM instead of 5:30 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. The boating area and shaded sitting spots are nice for a short break. Overall, it’s a refreshing place for families and kids to spend a few peaceful hours in nature. A bit of improvement in food stalls and some enclosures would make it even better. 🌳🦓🐅

A Refreshing Escape into Nature at Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan, Patna Nestled on Bailey Road in the heart of bustling Patna, Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan—affectionately known as Patna Zoo—stands as a verdant oasis spanning over 150 acres. Established in 1973, this sprawling biological park effortlessly blends botanical splendor with zoological wonders, making it an absolute must-visit for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone craving a break from urban chaos. From the moment you step through the gates (open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, with entry fees starting at just ₹50), you're enveloped in a symphony of chirping birds, rustling leaves, and the distant roars of majestic beasts. What truly sets this park apart is its diverse array of attractions. Home to over 800 animals from 110 species, including majestic tigers, graceful giraffes, playful zebras, and the rare Indian rhinoceros, the enclosures are thoughtfully designed to mimic natural habitats, promoting conservation and ethical wildlife viewing. Don't miss the Snake House (Saap Ghar) with its mesmerizing pythons and cobras, or the vibrant Fish Aquarium (Machhali Ghar) teeming with exotic aquatic life. For a touch of whimsy, hop aboard the toy train that chugs through lush gardens, offering panoramic views of Himalayan black bears and blackbucks. Boating on the serene lake and elephant rides add that extra thrill, while the Butterfly Park flutters with iridescent wings, educating visitors on biodiversity. Beyond the animals, the botanical gardens boast over 300 species of trees, herbs, and shrubs, creating shaded picnic spots perfect for lazy afternoons. It's not just entertainment; it's an educational gem—ideal for school trips where kids can learn about Gangetic Plains ecology up close. The park's commitment to captive breeding and rehabilitation shines through, fostering a deeper appreciation for India's wildlife heritage. My recent visit left me rejuvenated; the fresh air, well-maintained paths, and friendly staff made it a seamless day out. Despite occasional crowds on weekends, early mornings offer a peaceful vibe with cooler breezes. Whether you're a local rediscovering Patna's green lung or a traveler seeking authentic charm, Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan delivers joy in spades. Highly recommended—5 stars for this timeless treasure!

Vintage locomotives & displays on the history of regional railways, plus mini-train rides for kids.
Visited on 21 March 2025. For gorakhpur standards , good place for kids. A huge park, with a toy train for kids to ride on. Its fun and kids love it. There is huge space and garden, with slides and rides. There is a museum inside for those would be interested in history, i liked it. There is a restuarant inside it, with variety of food to chose from like momos, dosa, Ice cream, Pao Bhaji , cold drinks. Entry tickets - 20 rupees per person, 10 rupees per kid for train ride. Mosquitoes could be a menace after dark, be cautious.
Aanchal T — Google review
There were some toy shops outside the museum. The entry ticket for the museum was 20 rupees, and since there wasn’t much crowd, I got it immediately. Inside, there was a lot of greenery with many trees, and the names of the trees were also written. There was a rail tour happening as well, and the canteen was set up inside train coaches. There was also an old train engine and many other things. The museum had a lot of information and items related to railways. The food and drink facilities inside were very good, and the toilets were also fine. Opening Hours General Timings (Apr–Sep): Tuesday to Sunday, 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM (ticket booking until 8:30 PM); closed on Mondays . Winter Timings (Oct–Mar): Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM; closed on Mondays . Some sources also list a slightly earlier opening (e.g., 11:00 AM as per TripNight), but official seasonal timing updates are more reliable . Entry Fees Museum Entry: ₹20 for adults (above 5 years) . Toy Train Ride: ₹10 per person (often for children up to around 12 years or 2.5+ years, depending on policy) . Parking: Bike — ₹10; Car — ₹30 (per some travel guides) . Visitor Experience & Reviews Highly Rated: Enjoys positive ratings (~4.1 out of 5), especially among families and children . Highlights: Unique blend of education and recreation, with historical exhibits and a toy train ride. The themed canteen inside a coach adds a retro charm and enhances the dining experience. As one reviewer puts it, the mini train ride with classic tunes “makes you feel like a time traveler.” Playful park setting, classical music, and thoughtful lighting create a nostalgic yet vibrant atmosphere . Considerations: Limited parking onsite—visitors may need to find alternatives elsewhere . Some visitors observe that the place feels more like a mini theme park than a conventional museum due to its limited indoor exhibits but strong recreational appeal .

Shri Gorakhnath Mandir

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sprawling monastery & temple complex with galleries of Hindu deity statues & a sacred eternal flame.
When we reached Gorakhpur for our UP Police exam, one of the most memorable experiences we had was visiting the Gorakhnath Mandir. Located in the heart of the city, this grand temple is not just a place of worship, but a spiritual and cultural landmark that leaves a lasting impression on every visitor. As soon as we entered the temple premises, we were welcomed by a peaceful and divine atmosphere. The temple is dedicated to Guru Gorakhnath, a revered saint and spiritual leader, and it stands as a symbol of devotion, discipline, and tradition. The architecture is stunning, with beautifully carved pillars, a clean and spacious courtyard, and the main sanctum that radiates positive energy. The sound of bhajans and chants added to the spiritual charm of the place. What touched us the most was the discipline and cleanliness maintained throughout the temple complex. Devotees from all parts of India visit this temple to seek blessings, and yet, the atmosphere remains calm and well-managed. We also saw people feeding cows in the gaushala and participating in community services, which reflected the temple's role in promoting social values. Our visit to Gorakhnath Mandir was not just a religious stop, but a moment of peace and reflection before our exam. It gave us a sense of calmness and motivation. We felt truly blessed to be there, and we would recommend everyone visiting Gorakhpur to take some time and experience the spiritual strength of this sacred place.

My visit to the Gorakhnath Temple was truly a highlight of my trip to Gorakhpur. I went on a weekday morning to avoid the crowds, and the peaceful atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for. The temple complex is expansive and immaculately maintained. The grounds are very clean, and there are clear signs, making it easy to navigate. The main temple, dedicated to Guru Gorakhnath, is impressive with its beautiful architecture. Inside, the spiritual energy is palpable. I also appreciated the smaller shrines dedicated to other deities, which are scattered throughout the complex. The large pond and well-kept garden areas provide a perfect place for quiet reflection. One of the most charming aspects was the Goshala (cowshed), which is very well-maintained and shows the temple's dedication to serving and protecting cows. The arrangements for depositing and collecting footwear were smooth and efficient, which is a big plus. For future visitors, I would highly recommend an early morning visit to enjoy the tranquility. While some reviews mention being approached by pandits for money, I didn't experience this and found the staff to be respectful. Overall, this is a must-visit place for anyone seeking a blend of spirituality, history, and serene beauty. It's a truly well-managed and significant pilgrimage site.

Gorakhnath Math, also known as Gorakhnath Temple or Shri Gorakhnath Mandir, is a Hindu temple of the Nath monastic order group of the Nath tradition. The name Gorakhnath derives from the medieval saint, Gorakshanath (c. 11th century CE), a yogi who travelled widely across India and authored a number of texts that form a part of the canon of Nath Sampradaya.Shri Gorakhnath Mandir's facade stands as a beacon of spiritual enlightenment. The temple's facade reflects Gorakhpur's rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Gorakhnath Mandir is a spiritually powerful and peaceful place. The atmosphere is calm and filled with positive vibes. The temple is very well maintained – clean premises, organized management, and a spacious campus. Apart from the main temple, the gaushala and sacred pond add to its charm. Sitting here brings a deep sense of inner peace. A must-visit spot in Gorakhpur for both devotees and tourists!

Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur is a peaceful and spiritual place that fills you with positive energy the moment you enter. The surroundings are clean, well-maintained, and calm. The temple itself is beautiful, with detailed walls and peaceful vibes. Inside, there are many different gods, and each one feels special in its own way. One of the best things is that the temple is very well-organized. There’s proper security at the entrance, but it’s just a simple check—nothing that takes much time. You don’t have to wait in long lines to go inside, which is a big plus. Behind the temple, there’s a small pond where ducks swim around. It’s a lovely spot to sit quietly and enjoy the peaceful environment. The cool breeze and soft sound of bells make you feel relaxed and connected to something higher. Near the temple, you’ll find many small shops selling sweets and prasad. There are plenty of options, and the shopkeepers are polite and helpful. If you love sweets or want to carry some prasad for your family, it’s the perfect place. Also, there’s a strong sense of safety here. Security guards are present everywhere, and the overall atmosphere is very family-friendly. If you are ever in Gorakhpur, I would strongly recommend visiting Gorakhnath Temple. It’s not just a religious place, it’s a complete experience of peace, devotion, and beauty. Don’t leave the city without spending some time here. It truly touches your heart.

Ramnagar Fort is a nice place to visit if you are interested in history and heritage. The entry ticket costs ₹80 per person for Indians. The fort area is quite large and has been converted into a historical museum. Inside the museum, photography is strictly prohibited, but you can still spend hours exploring the big collection and the spacious grounds. One of the highlights is the view of the Ganga River from the backside of the fort, which is very scenic. The fort itself and its surroundings are good for photography, though not inside the museum. Overall, it’s a peaceful place to walk around, learn history, and enjoy the river view.

Ramnagar Fort offers a fascinating look at the rich history and culture of the Kashi Naresh (King of Varanasi). The museum inside showcases vintage cars, old weapons, royal costumes, and beautifully preserved artefacts — though the collection could be better maintained. The fort’s architecture is stunning, and the view of the Ganga River from the premises is absolutely serene, especially during sunset. It’s a great spot for photography and to experience the charm of Banaras beyond the ghats. A little more attention to cleanliness and information boards would make the experience even better. Overall, a must-visit for history lovers and anyone exploring the cultural side of Varanasi!

A rare Astronomical Clock (Dharam Ghadi) made in 1852 that shows the time, year, month, week, day, and astronomical details of the Sun, Moon, and other planets. Jewelry, ivory work, and old photographs of the Maharajas. Temples: The fort complex houses several temples, including: Veda Vyasa Temple, dedicated to the sage who is believed to have authored the Mahabharata. Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple. Other shrines like the Durga Temple. Architecture and Structure: The fort is a large, fortified structure built with creamy-colored chunar sandstone, showing Mughal-style architecture. It features carved balconies, pavilions, and open courtyards. It stands on high ground, protecting it from the Ganges' flood waters. Key things to know: Royal Residence: A portion of the fort is still the private residence of the Kashi Naresh (Maharaja of Varanasi) and is not open to the public. Cultural Significance: The fort is particularly famous as the traditional venue for the grand Ramleela performances held during the Dussehra festival.

This fort is located in Ramnagar, located just on the opposite banks of Varanasi. This fort belonged to the King of Kashi. and many 19th and 20th century artefacts related to the royal family are preserved and exhibited here. Entry fee is ₹80, but it is worth the money. You can have a detailed view of the carriages, cars, clothes, old flag of kingdom of Kashi, weapons( knives, spears, guns, etc.) and even an impressive view of the ghats along with an old temple. This place is also famous for film shootings.

Dhamekh Stupa, situated in Sarnath near Varanasi, India, is a significant ancient Buddhist monument dating back to 500 CE. Originally built by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE, it has undergone various renovations over time. The stupa stands at 43 meters tall and features intricate carvings depicting birds and scripts from the Gupta period. This cylindrical structure is believed to mark the location where Buddha delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment.
The entry ticket to this place is only Rs. 25 for the Indians. Its a little ahead of the Sarnath temple. We hired a guide but he was only interested to take us to local village so that he could sell us the benarasi sarees. When we refused to go to the village, he simply left us outside Sarnath. He didn't even tell where is Dhamek Stupa located. We started walking ahead, there were no proper directions given through signboards. I had to ask around. There was a queue for tickets, you could skip it by scanning the QR code near the entry gate. Once inside, the view is lovely. The ruins sprawl in a gigantic area. Its very well maintained, very picturesque. Every corner is a photo zone. There are proper ASI boards inside to tell about the significance of the ruins.

A truly peaceful and spiritually powerful place! The Dhamek Stupa stands as one of the most significant Buddhist monuments in India — marking the very spot where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after enlightenment. The moment you enter the complex, you can feel a deep sense of calm and sacred energy in the air. The stupa itself is massive and beautifully constructed — even after so many centuries, its carvings and symmetry are awe-inspiring. The surrounding garden is well maintained, clean, and ideal for a slow walk or meditation. The Archaeological Survey of India has done a good job preserving the site, and the information boards help visitors understand the historical importance. There are also ruins of ancient monasteries nearby and a museum just outside the main gate that houses relics, including the famous Ashokan Lion Capital, India’s national emblem. Local guides are available (for a small charge) and are worth hiring if you want to truly understand the history and symbolism. Tickets: ₹25 for Indians (₹20 online via ASI portal) and ₹300 for foreigners. No Camera fee . Tickets are available both offline and online at the entrance. I reached here easily by shared auto from Varanasi, costing just ₹60 per head 10–12 km ride. The nearby museum with the Ashokan Lion Capital is also worth visiting(ticket included with it). Overall, Dhamek Stupa is not just a tourist spot — it’s a timeless reminder of peace, mindfulness, and human compassion. A must-visit for anyone coming to Varanasi.

The Dhamek Stupa in Sarnath is one of the most revered and impressive Buddhist monuments in India. Built initially by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE and later enlarged, it marks the sacred spot where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to his five disciples after attaining enlightenment. The massive cylindrical structure, made of stone and brick, stands about 43.6 meters high and 28 meters in diameter. Intricate carvings of flowers, human figures, and geometric designs on the lower portion reflect the fine craftsmanship of ancient India. The site radiates a deep sense of peace and spirituality, attracting pilgrims and history lovers from all over the world. Surrounded by lush gardens and other ruins of monasteries, the Dhamek Stupa remains a timeless symbol of the Buddha’s teachings and India’s spiritual heritage.

Stupa is good. BUT BE WARY OF GUIDES here. He said in ₹100 he will show us all the sites in this complex. But he took us to the main temple, spent hardly 7 minutes. And took us to some handloom dress shop nearby. His main interest was commission from the shop. We didn't buy anything and the guide lost all interest in us. Forced us to give him ₹ 100 and he disappeared. Some suitable action should be taken to prevent such activities.

A wonderful place for all. If you are in Varanasi and don't visit this place, you will miss a lot about an Indian historical place. The most I love was the Ashoka Pillar with four lion head, which is the emblem of India. For Buddhists, it is obviously the great place of pilgrimage.

The Ashoka Pillar, located in the Sarnath Deer Park just 10km north of Varanasi, is a significant historical site and a popular tourist attraction. This 17m tall pillar, built by Emperor Ashoka, is housed in a glass enclosure and features sandstone remains. The pillar bears an engraving of four lions back to back, which is the official symbol of India.
The Ashoka Pillar in Sarnath is a very special and old monument in India. It was made by Emperor Ashoka more than 2,000 years ago to remember the place where Lord Buddha gave his first teaching after getting wisdom (called enlightenment). The pillar was once very tall, about 50 feet high, and made of smooth stone. But today, it is broken. You can still see the bottom part of the pillar at the Sarnath archaeological site. The top part of the pillar had a beautiful carving called the Lion Capital. It shows four lions standing back-to-back. This Lion Capital is so important that it became the National Emblem of India in 1950. That means it is now the official symbol of our country! You can even see it on Indian coins and government papers. The Lion Capital also has pictures of a bull, horse, lion, elephant, and a special wheel called the Dharma Chakra. These show different parts of Buddha’s life and his message of peace, love, and kindness. If you visit Sarnath, you can see the pillar base near the Dhamek Stupa and the Lion Capital in the Sarnath Museum, which is very close. Timings: The site is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM The museum is closed on Fridays Tickets: Indians: ₹20 Foreign visitors: ₹250 Museum may have a separate ticket

Timeless Symbol of Dharma and National Pride Visiting the Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath is like stepping into the soul of India’s ancient wisdom. This iconic monument, commissioned by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE, stands as a powerful testament to peace, tolerance, and the spread of Buddhism. Though the original pillar is now preserved in fragments, the site evokes deep reverence—especially with the Lion Capital, which proudly serves as India’s national emblem. The archaeological site is beautifully maintained, with informative plaques and a serene ambience that invites reflection. The nearby museum adds depth to the experience, showcasing relics and sculptures that bring history to life. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a spiritual seeker, or a proud Indian, the Ashoka Pillar is a must-visit. It’s not just a monument—it’s a message carved in stone: of unity, wisdom, and the enduring legacy of dharma. 🕊️ A place that humbles the heart and elevates the mind.

The Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath is a remarkable monument built by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE to mark the site where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon. Crafted from a single block of polished sandstone, it showcases the exceptional artistry of the Mauryan era. The original **Lion Capital**, which once crowned the pillar, is now preserved in the Sarnath Museum and proudly serves as India’s national emblem. Though the pillar stands broken today, its presence continues to inspire awe, symbolizing peace, strength, and the enduring legacy of Buddhism.

A powerful symbol of India’s ancient history and Buddhist heritage! The Ashokan Pillar at Sarnath was originally erected by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE to mark the sacred spot where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after enlightenment. Though the pillar now stands broken, its base remains at the original site beside the Dhamek Stupa, and the famous Lion Capital — India’s National Emblem — is safely preserved inside the nearby Sarnath Archaeological Museum. The polished sandstone pillar once stood over 12 meters high and carried Ashoka’s edicts promoting peace, moral conduct, and compassion. The craftsmanship and polish, even after more than 2,000 years, are remarkable. It’s humbling to imagine the full structure as it once was — a timeless reminder of India’s message of “Ahimsa” and “Dharma.” Entry: Access to the pillar site is included with the Dhamek Stupa ticket — ₹25 for Indian citizens (₹20 online via ASI portal) and ₹300 for foreign visitors. Photography is allowed inside the complex . The area is clean, quiet, and well maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Drinking water, toilets, and shaded rest areas are available near the gate. Local guides are also available for a small fee to explain the full history and significance of the site. Visiting the Ashokan Pillar at Sarnath is not just about seeing an ancient monument — it’s about connecting with a living legacy that still shapes India’s identity today. A must-visit for history lovers, Buddhists, and anyone exploring Varanasi.

Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple is a renowned riverside temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, featuring an impressive 18th-century gold-plated spire and a sacred well. It's also the only Jyotirlinga in Uttar Pradesh.
Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi is one of the most sacred places in India, known for its golden dome, deep spiritual energy, and connection to the holy river Ganga. The renovated corridor beautifully links the temple to the nearby ghats, making the walk to the river calm and devotional. The surrounding gallis are narrow but full of life, with shops selling flowers, sweets, and spiritual items, creating a vibrant old-world charm. The nearby Dashashwamedh Ghat hosts the famous Ganga Aarti every evening, where priests perform rituals with lamps and chants that fill the air with divine energy. Though crowded and noisy at times, the combination of the temple, ghats, gallis, and the Ganga Aarti makes the experience unforgettable and truly spiritual.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, was a spiritually enriching and unforgettable experience. Located in the heart of Varanasi, the temple stands as a beacon of faith and devotion for millions of Hindus. From the moment I stepped into the narrow lanes leading to the temple, the air felt charged with spiritual energy. The aroma of incense, the chanting of mantras, and the constant ringing of temple bells created an atmosphere that was both intense and peaceful. The temple itself, with its majestic golden spire, is a blend of rich history and deep religious significance. Though often crowded, the darshan process was surprisingly well-managed. The Gyanvapi Corridor, part of the new Kashi Vishwanath Dham project, added to the experience by providing open, clean, and aesthetically pleasing access to the temple. Security was tight but well-organized, and the cleanliness of the temple premises was impressive considering the massive daily footfall. The presence of helpful volunteers and the availability of lockers, guides, and prasad counters made the visit more convenient. What touched me most was the palpable faith of the devotees. People from across the country, and even the world, stood in line with folded hands, eyes closed in prayer, completely immersed in devotion. Highlights: Spiritual atmosphere like no other Historical and cultural significance Clean and well-managed temple complex Efficient darshan system despite crowds The newly developed Kashi Vishwanath Corridor adds grandeur and comfort Tips for Visitors: Visit early in the morning (especially for the Mangala Aarti) to avoid large crowds Dress modestly and be prepared to walk through narrow, bustling alleys Mobile phones and cameras aren’t allowed inside, so plan accordingly Booking special darshan online can save time

It is the desire of every Hindu to visit Kashi at least once in their lives. There is a tradition in our country to spend the last days of life in Kashi. It is believed that Lord Shiva recites the name of Rama, in the ears of every living being who is about to die here. Vishwanath appears as a self-contained Jyothir Lingam in a tank-like structure measuring three by three feet. Devotees can pour Ganga water with their hands and sprinkle flowers and touch it to worship from 4.00 to 5.00 am and also from 4.00 to 5.00 pm. We obtained tickets through online (one month ago) for Sugam Dharshan at 2.00 pm batch by paying Rs.300/- per head. We had our Dharshan within seven minutes. Then we purchased tickets for Rudra abishekam by paying Rs. 450/- and a priest came with us and performed all the abhishekams for the Lingam. We paid another Rs. 250/- towards the cost of milk for performing Milk abhishekams. By 2.30 Rudra abishekam was also performed. Then we stood in the queue meant for free Dharshan and worshiped Lord Viswanathar within 30 minutes. We kept all our important belongings such as mobiles, bags etc in a locker outside the temple and left our chappals there . We could never forget that vibrations which we felt while we were doing the Rudra abishekam.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is the spiritual heart of Varanasi and a must-visit for every devotee of Lord Shiva. The temple feels truly divine, and the newly developed corridor offers a grand and peaceful view leading towards the Ganga. One of the best times to visit is early in the morning between 4 AM to 5 AM, when Sparsha Darshan (touch darshan) is allowed even in the general/free line. The atmosphere at that hour is calm, less crowded, and filled with pure devotion—an experience that feels truly special. Security arrangements are strict, and the management is much more organized now. Though the temple can get crowded later in the day, the early morning visit gives a peaceful and memorable darshan of Baba Vishwanath. Despite the rush during peak hours, the divine energy of the temple makes the journey completely worth it. A visit here leaves you with a deep sense of peace and devotion.

No mobile, footwear, watch / Pen or purse or handbag and so just basic decent clothing and some cash to offer. Spiritual experience

Shahi Pul, Jaunpur

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Bridge
Shahi Pul or Munim Khan Pul or Akbari Pul or Mughal Pul or Jaunpur Bridge is a 16th-century bridge over the Gomti River in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Shahi Pul is located 1.7 kilometres (1.1 mi) north of Jaunpur railway station, 7.3 kilometres (4.5 mi) northwest of Jaffarabad, 16.2 kilometres (10.1 mi) north-northeast of Mariahu and 26.6 kilometres (16.5 mi) west-northwest of Kirakat city.[1]The Mughal emperor Akbar ordered the construction of the Shahi Bridge, which was completed by Munim Khan in the year 1568–69. [2] The bridge took four years to complete. [3] It was designed by the Afghan architect Afzal Ali. [4]

It's the only bridge where we see the market and shops on the pul. It was built around 1300AD on the Gomti River.Shahi Pul stands as a testament to Jaunpur's rich history and architectural heritage....
Vartika — Google review
Shahi Pul, located in Jaunpur, is one of Uttar Pradesh's most iconic Mughal-era structures, embodying both historical significance and architectural brilliance. The bridge was commissioned during the reign of Emperor Akbar in 1564, following his directive to address the challenge faced by locals and traders who needed to cross the Gomti River. Akbar appointed his governor, Munim Khan (also referenced as Munim Muhammad Baki), to oversee the construction of this essential bridge. The architectural design was crafted by Afzal Ali, a renowned architect from Afghanistan. Spanning 654 feet in length and 26 feet in width, Shahi Pul took four years to complete and was considered a marvel of its time. The bridge stands on 26 arches, blending Indian and Mughal architectural styles, making it unique in India. Along its span, octagonal pillars support chhatris (domed pavilions), which were originally built to provide shelter for traders operating stalls on the bridge. These chhatris still offer views over the river to travelers and visitors, preserving the historic aura. The central section of the bridge is notable for a large quadrangular platform featuring a stone sculpture of a lion poised over an elephant, a powerful symbol located opposite a small mosque built into the structure. This highlights the cultural syncretism prevalent in Jaunpur's history, with spaces for both Hindu and Muslim practices integrated into the bridge’s design. Shahi Pul’s strategic and commercial significance helped boost Jaunpur’s economic activities during the Mughal era, as it facilitated uninterrupted trade and communication across the river. Its durability has withstood centuries of floods and natural disasters, although it suffered major damage in the 1934 earthquake and was subsequently restored to its former glory. Currently, the bridge is maintained as a protected heritage monument, but its condition is threatened by neglect, overgrowth, and structural wear. Nevertheless, it continues to serve as a public thoroughfare and remains a living testament to Jaunpur’s past, bridging not only the two riverbanks but centuries of history and culture. Overall, Shahi Pul stands out as a noteworthy location in Jaunpur that embodies historical significance, cultural richness, and everyday vibrancy. It is a place where history is not just preserved but lived, offering a meaningful experience for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the local heritage and lifestyle of this region.

This might not be the centuries-old heritage *Sita Rasoi*, but the vibe here definitely feels the same. I was staying at a nearby hotel, just about 500 meters from Hanumangarhi, and came across this place (also recommended by the hotel reception guy). They serve only thali meals- nothing fancy, just simple, homely food. And honestly, that’s all you need at the end of the day. We loved it so much that we came back the next day too! The thali includes: * 4 rotis * dal * chawal (rice) * 2 sabzis * raita It’s more than sufficient for one adult. The best part? The price is just ₹100! Super reasonable. The owner, Suraj Agarwal, is very warm and friendly—he even shared a lot of interesting information about Ayodhya with us. If you’re nearby, definitely give this place a try..!!

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir is not just a temple, it feels like stepping into history and divinity together. Visitors say the moment you enter, there’s a special energy in the air—a mix of devotion, pride, and peace. The architecture shines with intricate carvings, and the chants make the whole place feel alive. Even though the crowd is huge, people describe it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience—where waiting in line itself feels like part of the spiritual journey. Many call it “a temple that gives goosebumps”, because standing before Shri Ram’s garbh-griha (sanctum) feels like a blessing. ✨ Truly, an emotional and unforgettable experience for anyone visiting Ayodhya.

There is set procedure to enter the Temple. Once you reach the entrance, there is a hall on your left. This hall may be used for some relaxation or for using washroom. Then there is designated area where metal pipes are fixed to guide you in Queue. Then you simply follow instructions. The temple is still being constructed. All the arrangements are very welcoming. In mid-november there are quite reasonable crowds and entry waiting time is minimum. जय श्री राम The visiting experience is nicely managed. 🌺 Ram Mandir, Ayodhya – A Divine Experience Beyond Words 🌺 The holy land of Ayodhya radiates divinity, and at its heart stands the magnificent Shree Ram Mandir, a living symbol of faith, history, and devotion. Ayodhya Ram Mandir is a divine and historic place that fills every devotee with immense faith and pride. The main temple, with its magnificent architecture and beautifully carved pillars, creates a truly spiritual experience. The idol of Prabhu Shri Ram in the Garbhagriha brings peace to the heart the moment you see it. The entire temple complex is still under construction, with several facilities, mandaps, and surrounding areas being developed. Due to the ongoing work, some areas are restricted and there can be a bit of dust and temporary arrangements. But it is exciting to witness the grand vision taking shape day by day. Even with large crowds, the management is doing a good job of controlling queues and maintaining cleanliness. Night lighting makes the temple look heavenly and worth watching again and again. Overall, Ayodhya Ram Mandir is not only a sacred pilgrimage site but also a symbol of devotion and cultural heritage. Once the complete complex is ready, it will be one of the most beautiful temples in the world.

Standing majestically on the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram, the temple radiates immense spiritual energy and divine grace. The architecture is grand yet filled with sacred simplicity, reflecting the purity of Ram’s ideals — truth, compassion, and righteousness. As you step into the temple premises, you can feel an overwhelming sense of peace and devotion; the chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echo through every soul. Visiting Ayodhya Ram Mandir is a once-in-a-lifetime divine experience — a moment where faith meets fulfillment and the spirit finds its true home. 🌸🚩

The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is not just a temple — it is the embodiment of faith, patience, and the timeless spirit of devotion that has lived in the hearts of millions for centuries. Standing majestically on the banks of the sacred Sarayu River, this divine structure radiates serenity and grandeur, merging the essence of ancient Indian architecture with the precision of modern craftsmanship. From the very first glimpse, the temple’s intricate carvings, majestic pillars, and towering shikhara inspire awe. Every stone seems to whisper the story of Lord Rama — of righteousness, courage, and dharma. The temple complex is beautifully designed, spacious, and infused with an aura of peace. As you walk through its corridors, the fragrance of devotion fills the air, and the rhythmic chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echo like a timeless hymn of unity. What makes the Ram Mandir truly special is not only its architectural brilliance but the profound emotion it evokes. Generations of prayers, hope, and perseverance have culminated in this divine reality. Whether one visits as a devotee, a traveler, or an admirer of art and history, the experience is deeply moving — a journey inward as much as it is outward. As the golden rays of the sun touch the temple at dawn, the marble glows like it’s alive — a reminder that this is not just stone and structure, but a living temple of faith. The atmosphere around Ayodhya has transformed too — vibrant, welcoming, and filled with spiritual energy. In every sense, the Ram Mandir is a testament to India’s rich heritage and its eternal devotion to truth and divinity. Visiting it is not merely a pilgrimage — it is an experience that stays in the heart forever.

This temple is located at the birthplace of God Ram.Visited this temple on a weekday at around 13:00-13:45 hours. This temple has excellent management of crowd. There is separate entrance and exit.Enough availability of drinking water and medical facilities.Enough lockers are available for keeping belongings like bags ,footwear, cameras, mobile phones, etc. and separate areas for depositing and withdrawing articles.Initially photography of the main parts of the temple were allowed but now it is prohibited(probably due to security issues). The temple complex is magnificent with beautiful carvings of different deities such as ganesha, etc on stone walls. Till to this date of writing this review, only about 40% of the work of the temple complex has been completed. Once completed, the temple complex would be more magnificent.

A truly mystical and peaceful place! This ancient tree is believed to be from the Mahabharata era, linked to Queen Kunti and Lord Krishna. The tree is unique – said to bloom without seeds – and the air is filled with divine fragrance when it flowers. There's also a small temple beside it that adds to the spiritual vibe. A perfect spot for history lovers, spiritual seekers, or anyone wanting to explore hidden gems near Lucknow. Visit early morning for a quiet experience. Clean surroundings, friendly locals, and free entry.

A great historical place, which unfortunately is severely underrated. This Parijat tree is deemed to be originated from Samudra-Manthan, which Pandavas have again brought back from heaven and planted by Arjun at current place during their exile. The tree remains green for 6 months and goes dry for next 6 months in the year. The place is easily approachable by own conveyance, however public transport can be time consuming. It worths visiting it, if you are nearby or on religious tour.

It is a wonderful experience for anyone who believes in Hinduism. Its history and the story behind this place being worshipped is just what you will expect from any ancient place with rich culture. (A bonus for any believer visiting herewill be to also visit shri Kunteshwar temple that is also the part of same belief just 1.5 kms from here ).

The Parijāt Tree, located in Kintoor (Kintur) village about 38 km east of Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh, is a unique and sacred botanical wonder. Here's why it's revered: --- 🌳 What Makes It Special 1. Baobab in India This is an Adansonia digitata (African baobab) — a species native to sub‑Saharan Africa. Its presence in Uttar Pradesh is extraordinary and unmatched in India . 2. Legendary Roots Mythology associates the tree with the Mahabharata: One belief is that Arjun brought the tree from heaven to honor his mother Kunti, who used its flowers to offer to Lord Shiva. This act is said to have blessed the Pandavas with victory . Another version suggests Krishna brought it for Queen Satyabhama from Indralok (realm of the gods) . 3. Kalpavriksha or Wish‑Granting Tree According to Harivansh Purāṇ, Parijāt is a divine Kalpavriksha — a mythological wish‑granting tree found in heaven. The one in Kintoor is believed to uniquely embody that celestial power . Flowering & Appearance The flowers are white, and when they dry, they turn a golden color, adding to the mystical appeal. Flowering is rare and generally occurs after Ganga Dassehara, often drawing pilgrims . Folklore claims the flowers bloom only at night due to a curse from Lord Indra, hence they never bloom in the day . Protection & Preservation The site is fenced and preserved by local authorities and the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI), which has treated infections and is working to clone the tree via tissue culture. Physical offerings had previously damaged the trunk, prompting stricter conservation efforts . 🛕 Visiting Information Location: Kintoor village, ~38 km east of Barabanki; about 63 km from Lucknow (1.5‑2 hrs by road) . **How to Reach:** Via road: From Lucknow take the L‑Bh Bypass → Ramnagar → Kintoor.

Indira Gandhi Botanical Garden ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Indira Gandhi Botanical Garden is a serene and well-maintained spot, perfect for nature enthusiasts and families alike. Spread over a vast area, it boasts a diverse range of flora, making it an ideal place for those looking to explore plant varieties or simply enjoy some greenery. The walking paths are well-laid and shaded, offering a pleasant experience even during sunny days. The garden is equipped with seating areas and open spaces, which are great for picnics or relaxation. It’s also a good spot for morning walkers and joggers, as the environment feels fresh and rejuvenating. However, the lack of proper signage in certain areas can make navigation slightly confusing for first-time visitors. Additionally, the cleanliness of public restrooms could be improved. Overall, the Indira Gandhi Botanical Garden is a delightful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle, offering a peaceful retreat into nature. With minor improvements, it has the potential to become a top-tier botanical destination.
