Absolutely stunning hike which has perhaps for the first 2.5km (it's an out and back hike) which is accessible every for prams and a view point at the very start which caters for wheelchairs. So if you are in the area and have 5 minutes go to the view point. But if you have a few hours I recommend the full 10km hike (out and back). Beautiful!

Easy to find if you put LIPU in the SatNav. The path is well marked and also easy to follow. Stunning views.

Museo Rodolfo Valentino

Experiencing the legendary tale of Rodolfo Valentino at the Museo Rodolfo Valentino in Castellaneta is a truly exceptional experience. The museum, known for its exquisite collection, allows visitors to delve into the life of this iconic figure. One can marvel at original postcards penned by Valentino himself during his time in the USA. A captivating video narrating his life story adds an emotional and well-crafted touch to the visit.

(Translated by Google) The museum opened a little after ten o'clock. The young lady and the gentleman are very friendly and were happy to answer any questions. I was accompanied and a lot was shown and explained to me. This just gives you a little feeling that you can't be left alone. OK, not bad. I was very impressed by the exhibition, the wonderful, sometimes rare, photographs and the entire presentation. Lots of explanations for the photos. But then came the absolute highlight, real jewelry that Rudolph Valentino is said to have worn to his films. Of course everything in the showcase. The rings, the brooch, the pin and a pocket watch are sooooooooooooo beautiful and fascinated me and made me dream!!! Then there was the bed he slept in, typical of his time. And an original carpet probably from his film The Sheik or The son of the Sheik. However, I was very sad that these beautiful things and the photos were not allowed to be photographed in the room, so I left with tears in my eyes. If the jewelry were to be auctioned, I would be the first to bid on it!!! So I was able to at least buy some cards with his portrait and a small picture frame. I'll definitely come back, but for now I can only watch his films. The son of the Sheik. Grazias Enrico Bartscher ❣️

Coco Beach is a great value-for-money spot with very friendly staff. The atmosphere and pool are exceptionally clean, making it a pleasant place to relax. However, if it’s windy, the waves and the pebbly beach can reduce the enjoyment of the sea, so it’s best to plan your visit according to the weather. There are also options for table tennis, volleyball, and a kids’ club, adding extra fun for visitors of all ages.

This location offers the perfect environment to unwind and savor some leisure time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With top-notch facilities, welcoming and highly professional staff, delicious food, and the opportunity to enjoy refreshing swims in either the sea or a pool, it's an ideal spot for relaxation and enjoyment.

We had a wonderful time at Coco Beach Club! The atmosphere is perfect for both adults and kids. The place is relaxing, welcoming, and beautifully set by the sea. A special thank you to Pino, Franco and Ruben as well as the entire staff, who were incredibly friendly, kind, and attentive throughout our visit. Everyone went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a carefree and enjoyable day by the water!

What makes an experience is how your left feeling at the end of the day. We had planned to come on a Friday to use the pool because it was too winding for the beach. The thrillers party site we booked through didn’t communicate that the pool was closed. When we arrived, the director explained to us what had happened, obviously we were disappointed. But then this is where true customer service and hospitality shined! The director and his team arranged for us to come the next day and provided free parking, exclusive pool access for our kids and made us feel like nothing was too much to ask for. It’s a great location, great food, friendly team who were there to help you. We overheard some miscommunication on the day from other guests but from our perspective the team were always looking to find solution and make the experience as enjoyable as possible.

Cool beach club equipped with lots of beds and umbrellas to rent. Nice little beach. Get fare bit incl in your rental fee - water, cocktail, snacks, Prosecco. Nice lunch options at all reasonable prices. Little disorganised though. Lots of young staff but weren't quite served on as well as could be.

(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, this year too, the access of fully dressed voyeurs in the upper dunes is very common, spying and filming with cell phones the swinging couples who perform without restraints. Degradation is taking over Termitosa and if the municipality of Castellaneta does not do something it will only get worse! The beach does not have differentiated bins after the level crossing and there are no chemical toilets, as there were last year, so you can imagine what is created behind the bushes. There are no disabled parking spaces, neither in the internal part of the pine forest, nor in front of the station where there is parking: in a civilized country with the law on disability, 104, there must be: it is shameful. The sea is quite clean, even if on the beach you find plastic and residues everywhere. Access to dogs, even if there are special dog beaches, is allowed in the nudist area, but the excrements should be collected and bagged. The signs marking the boundaries of the naturist area do not stop people in bathing suits from going to the beach, creating unpleasant episodes out of context: it is just 200 meters of beach so a textile worker should respect that space, instead of invading it and staring at others. The municipality of Castellaneta should put up signs prohibiting voyeurs and filming with cell phones, like in France, Germany for example, and many European countries with a number to call to report offenders. These are the results when you do things the Italian way. Disheartening. Sconfortante.

Grotte di Castellana

Mentioned on

Natural history museum
Grotte di Castellana, located 40km southeast of Bari, is Italy's longest natural subterranean network. Discovered in 1938, the cave system features a 3.2KM-long and 230-foot deep tour route with stunning limestone formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. The highlight is the Grotta Bianca (White Grotto), adorned with delicate stalactites.
Amazing experience. We have done the Speleonight tour! My daughters were super enthusiastic. The guides were super kind and professional. Angelo and Rosanna thank you for your work. Super suggested.
Francesco “ — Google review
You are not allowed to take pictures beyond a certain point. For me, the most amazing caves I ever saw. The experience is totally worth it. The entire area around is also very nice. It's not too slippery, not too cold. The guides are nice, tours are available in many languages. Booking in advance is recommended
Karina A — Google review
It was like Cheddar Gorge in England, on steroids. Definitely worth a visit. You can only take photos in the first cave which was the least amazing, because of a risk of flash damaging natural fungi etc. This was the least amazing cave. I went on an arranged tour.
Jane S — Google review
Nice cave but for us the experience was totally ruined by the 'can't be bothered' miserable attitude of the staff. One in the front and one in the back making sure that nobody took a surreptitious photograph, apparently, we were told because of the copyright of the company. I don't think you can copyright caves. More to do with the guards wanting to get through as quickly as possible. We were put in a massive group of around 100. All different nationalities, with an 'English Speaking' guide, although I'm English and I was picking up maybe 3 words of each sentence it was that bad. I could hardly see above people's heads we were so tightly packed and moving so quickly. No time to stop and admire the cave .. just rushed through like cattle. Twice we passed small Italian groups, all ambling along taking flash photos and video, yet we were rushed through so fast on the uneven floors, most of it badly lit. I'm surprised nobody fell and had an accident. We've been in lots of caves. Usually you go through alone, with headsets explaining the system. Some have music and light shows, making it very dramatic. This one is just boring. Not worth €18 per person. Total rip off.
Esro — Google review
Great experience! The 50 min tour suitable for small kids (4 & 6 y.o. enjoyed it). A bit to brief for adults/teenagers. During a 1km walk you're going to see a few amazing stone formations, hear a bit of history about the caves, and have a chance to imagine how this place looked like before it was turned into a tourist attraction. No need for any special shoes or outfits - a jacket and a pair of sneakers would do.
Wojtek C — Google review
Fantastic caves, but the experience is totally spoiled by the way it's run. It started badly when we were charged to park out car in a large car park in the village centre not far from the caves. But since the caves are the only attraction in town, the cost of parking ought to be included in the ticket price for visiting the cave. After buying our tickets, we were shown to the "planetarium" which is a miniature imax-style surround cinema where they played an animated film about possible alien life on other planets. But nobody could see it. The projector was so feeble that it took a couple of minutes of dark adaptation to seven see the image. And then people kept opening the door, causing bright sunshine to flood in and ruin the dark adaptation. They also give you pretty terrible 3D glasses that make the picture even dimmer. I guess this planetarium show is there to stop kids getting bored between tours of the caves, and it's a nice idea in principle. But the fact that they didn't invest in a decent projector system and didn't fit a light-proof entry system means it actually irritating for a lot of people. I heard lots of murmurings of "well that's 30 minutes of my life I'll never get back" upon leaving. But my biggest gripe of all is the actual cave tour itself. Not only do they try to stop you from taking photos beyond the first cave, but there's no mention of this at all before you buy your tickets. I LOVE visiting caves and have visited hundreds of them over the years. This is the first time I've been prevented from taking photos. I asked one of the two ladies what the reasoning was, and she said "Because it's our copyright". Which is total nonsense. Nobody has copyright over things that they did not create. And caves are created by the action of water over millions of years, they aren't man-made! I ignored their protestations and continued to take plenty of photos. In the end they stopped trying to stop me. I later looked up what possible genuine reasons they might have, and it's to protect the rocks from the effects of flash. Well why isn't that a problem in any other cave anywhere else? In any case I was taking photos and videos using a phone and a GoPro. There was no flash involved. If they really have a problem with people bringing proper cameras with powerful flash, then they should just tell people that photos are okay as long as there is no flash. Another problem is with the way the tour is guided. The tour guide at the front made an effort for people to gather around her before speaking, but her very soft voice was impossible to hear, especially since some of the visitors had brought babies who were crying the whole way. Inside the caves all you could hear is the crying of babies. Many cave site tour operators get round this by using radio mics with speakers hidden behind rocks in the caves. That way the guide doesn't have to shout, and everyone can hear easily. But no, there was nothing like that here. In summary, my biggest gripe is about their ridiculous ban on photography. For some of us, taking photos of the spectacular rock formations is a big reason for visiting in the first place. Admittedly they do say "no photography" in the guide they give you, but you don't see that until after you've bought your ticket. Pretty nasty way to operate. There's no good reason for them to ban photography, especially if you're doing it without a flash. But if you're to afraid to stand up for yourself, enjoy some of mine.
Alex T — Google review
Cool tourist attraction, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes with good grip — the caves are very slippery inside. The long tour was interesting, though I’d recommend the shorter 50-minute option.

In the charming coastal town of Polignano, Italy, stands the Monumento a Domenico Modugno, a lively sculpture honoring the 20th-century Italian musician and politician. The town is renowned for being the birthplace of notable figures like Domenico Modugno, also known as Mr. Volare for his famous song "Nel blu dipinto di blu - Volare."
Nice spot for his statue. His song is a real classic. I’ll never forget when I was just a kid watching one of my first horror movies (Vamp with our goddess Grace Jones) and they played Volare at the end credits. It was a nice relief after so much scarring scenes 🤣🤣🤣.

Monumento a Domenico Modugno is a must-see in Polignano a Mare. The statue overlooks the sea and celebrates the iconic singer of “Volare.” It’s a popular photo spot, especially with the beautiful coastal backdrop. The surrounding area has a lively vibe, and it’s a great place to take a short break while walking through the town. Domenico Modugno, born in Polignano a Mare, co-wrote and performed “Nel blu dipinto di blu” (“Volare”), which became one of Italy’s most internationally famous songs—and even won two Grammy Awards in 1958!

I absolutely love the statue — and the artist who created it! As boats glide into the harbour, “Volare” starts playing and suddenly everyone’s singing and dancing together. The whole place comes alive. The pose is what made him famous when he performed the song for the first time in front of a large audience. He sang with immense passion, bringing a new style and energy that no one had ever seen before. The audience went wild — completely captivated by his performance. His story is truly amazing.
Jono K — Google review
Been there done that! It’s a pity that there’s no details about this symbolism statue, so I asked AI for the explanation. Here’s what it says: “The statue is a monument to Domenico Modugno, a famous Italian singer-songwriter who was born in Polignano a Mare. He is best known for his hit song "Nel blu dipinto di blu," often referred to by its chorus, "Volare." The statue, a three-meter-tall bronze sculpture by Argentine artist Hermann Mejer, was unveiled on May 31, 2009. It depicts Modugno with his arms wide open, an iconic gesture that recalls his performance of "Volare" at the 1958 Sanremo Music Festival. The statue is located on the seafront of Polignano a Mare, looking out over the town and the sea. " Btw. I would definitely recommend you to look for the song to play along for a “dolce” Italian vibes 🥰!

Lama Monachile, also known as Cala Porto, is a picturesque cove in Polignano a Mare. It features clear waters and a pebble beach surrounded by dramatic cliffs. Visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the bright water colors and explore nearby sea caves such as Grotta Palazzese. The beach is an ideal spot to start a beach adventure with its cozy atmosphere and crystal-clear blue waters.
❄️ A winter sea so quiet, it felt like time had stopped. I visited this beach in winter I thought it would be a small, charming beach — but in person, it felt much deeper, quieter especially with hardly anyone around. The only sound was the gentle rhythm of waves. I stood there for a long while, just watching the sea spray hit the rocks, feeling completely at peace. Such a special place — simple, quiet, and utterly calming.
Yesran — Google review
Beautiful beach, water is absolutely stunning!! However it gets VERY BUSY in summer, and I'm sure the earlier you get there the better to find a spot. Also bring water shoes because it's a rock beach and slippery near the water.
Vânia R — Google review
Lama Monachile is one of those places that just takes your breath away the moment you see it. It feels iconic because it truly is—there’s nowhere else quite like it. Spending the day here is something special: swimming in the clear blue water, looking up at the cliffs, and just soaking in the beauty all around. The beach is very rocky, so bring good beach shoes, and if you can, a little float makes the swimming even more fun and relaxing. There are even a few small cliff jumps for the adventurous, but always with safety in mind. It’s not just a beach—it’s an experience you’ll remember.
Tanya C — Google review
We spent the day at a beautiful beach framed by rugged cliffs and crystal-clear blue water. The sea was perfect for swimming, with cool grottos and caves to explore beneath the cliffs. We even found a quiet spot on the rocks where we could read, relax, and dive in for a refreshing swim. Later, we wandered back to the beach and enjoyed a cold beer and an Aperol spritz as the sun dipped lower over the water — the perfect end to a perfect day.
Jono K — Google review
Excellent experience checking out this beach today. It is truly stunning and beautiful! As many others have said, make sure to bring your water shoes or sandals as the rocks hurt your feet.

An iconic beach that commands a photo..or two..or three. Very rocky. Not crowded. Even though it was early November I had to have a swim. Water is cool but not cold. Clear. I can see fish around me. And also a surprise. An octopus just metres from the waters edge. Grabbed my phone and managed to capture it briefly. Great experience!

Beautiful rocky beach with crystal-clear water and a relaxing atmosphere. It’s very rocky, so not the most comfortable for long stays, but perfect for a short visit. About 1–2 hours is enough to enjoy it.

Amazing views of a unique to the eye beach. The truth is that it looks way better looking at it than swimming in it, because of the tourist hordes. A must SEE from all possible corners place.

When you find yourself in Polignano a Mare, make sure to explore the enchanting Centro Storico. As you stroll through the historic Porta Vecchia, you'll be welcomed by a maze of whitewashed streets and charming buildings that define this picturesque town in Puglia. The heart of the old town is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, an ideal spot to unwind with a delicious Italian coffee or an aperitivo while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere and watching locals go about their day.
Stunning and super romantic little town. You can easily get off your mobile phone GPS/ Google maps and get lost in its cozy, tiny and utterly romantic streets!! And Christmas time is even more unique and beautiful!

Pretty but... I can't help feel that Polignano is a victim of its own "beauty". Certainly worth a visit, but I felt I kept on waiting for it to deliver, and it never did. It does have an impressive setting, built above and into the shallow cliffs, and it had the typical bars and restaurants to enjoy, with a "new" viaduct where an old Roman one used to be, above THE beach - pebble and crowded, so for viewing from a distance rather than enjoying as a beach. You also run out of things to experience pretty quickly, so give it an hour for a coffee, beer or glass of wine, and move on! Free parking up by the station.
Mike M — Google review
A special place to visit! The tall narrow houses clinging to the cliffs with the crashing waves below. Let your eyes soak up the beautiful clear Adriatic sea. Walk the narrow passages in centro storico. Experience the poetry of the little village. Dive back to Roma times.
Keith O — Google review
What a charming place to stay for a long weekend. Polignano a Mare looks like it is straight out of a movie set. This part of Italy (the heel) does not suffer over-tourism so I found it peaceful. The small town is very eye catching, as it's perched precariously on steep sea cliffs. The houses have flower laden balconies and are separated by tight alleyways. You really feel like you are stepping back in time by decades. Your standard run of the mill restaurant here, would be a top class Italian restaurant at home, and the prices are great. There is a statue here dedicated to their favourite son - the famous Italian singer, composer, and actor Domenico Modugno. There is not much English spoken here, so you are better off making the effort to learn some Italian words. If you are in the Bari area, I would advise coming here for a day trip at least, it's that special here.
Alan E — Google review
A very nice small city with narrow streets and fresh sea air. If you dare, you can try swimming down at the rocks because this area is always full of visitors and tourists. While walking at the streets don't miss the beautiful sea view!
Caner M — Google review
I had the pleasure of visiting the historic center of Polignano a Mare at night, and it was truly breathtaking. The area was bustling with tourists, yet it maintained a charming, intimate atmosphere. The streets were lined with numerous eateries, offering delicious gelato and pizza, perfect for a late-night snack. The art on the walls and light installations added a magical touch, making every corner a visual delight. The small churches scattered throughout the area were adorned with stunning religious art, a testament to the town’s rich cultural heritage. Walking through the narrow alleys, I discovered hidden gems like the Vicolo della Poesia, where poetry adorns the walls, and the picturesque Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. Polignano a Mare’s historic center is a must-visit, especially at night when it transforms into a vibrant yet serene haven. Whether you’re interested in history, art, or simply enjoying local cuisine, this place has something for everyone. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore its beauty and charm!

Museums
Trullo Sovrano is a remarkable 18th-century conical hut that now serves as a heritage museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the traditional furnishings and artifacts of the past. Situated near Basilica dei SS Medici, this two-story trullo stands out for its grandeur and unique charm. The museum inside is not only informative but also entertaining, showcasing the diverse uses of wine throughout history.
Everything about Alberobello was wonderful! We were there in shoulder season (Mid-march), so the crowds were light and the trullis were so cool to see. The area is ticked away in a pretty average/bland looking part of town, bits worth the drive. We took a bus from Bari and did this and Matera on the same day. Definitely a highlight of our trip
Amber W — Google review
Alberobello is amazing. The whole city. It is something you see in pictures and in videos, and you say to yourself: This can’t be real. And when you are there you can’t move because you realise it was real all along. The house was very interesting. Amazingly built and was informative of how the people have lived in a trullo. It is well preserved and kept clean. The staff were nice and friendly. I think that if you visit the town, you should visit this place as well. It gives you another perspective than by just walking in the town.
Nemes I — Google review
I specifically bought a ticket in advance on Booking called “Skip the Line: Trullo Sovrano Admission Ticket”, so I wouldn’t have to wait in line under the scorching sun at the Trullo Museum. The very name of the ticket says “Skip the Line.” However, when I arrived, it turned out that pre-purchased tickets weren't being accepted at all. I was forced to stand in a half-hour queue under the blazing sun together with people who hadn’t bought any tickets in advance. The line moved very slowly because there was only one person selling and checking tickets at the entrance. I tried twice to enter without waiting in line, showing my pre-booked ticket, but was firmly refused both times. So keep in mind: even if you buy the Skip the Line: Trullo Sovrano Admission Ticket, you will still have to queue with everyone else. There’s nothing particularly special inside. I only waited in line because I had come all the way from Bari to see an authentic trullo. Considering such terrible service, this visit isn't worth even 2€. When I complained at the entrance, the staff member simply told me, “You shouldn’t buy tickets on Booking.” That’s their whole attitude toward visitors.

The experience continues with a tropical center showcasing fascinating reptiles such as snakes and alligators.
This was one of the most amazing and funny experiences in my entire life! This place is absolutely amazing and it is a great place for kids! The amusement park after the safari is absolutely amazing! For the safari I can highly recommend you to buy carrots, apples and cabbage in advance so that you have for more animals to feed. It is super funny and awesome that you can pet the zebras, giraffes and camels.

Amazing experience! We took the train from Bari and a bus from the train station + a 30 min walk from Fasano, as there was no shuttle bus during weekdays, but was totally worth it. We did not have a car, and were planning to take the bus, but we were given a spare car, which made the experience unforgettable.

Incredible place for family with kids! Obviously also very interesting for the adults. A broad spectrum of animals, in very good condition, by the way! You drive around in your car, so it is very convenient and at your own pace - you take as much time as you want. The others pass you by without any problem. The amusement park is also fantastic. Plenty of places to treat yourselves with food.

Amazing experience! One literally feeds giraffes amd zebras out of the car window. Animals are so near that it cannot be compared with any other zoo. Bring 3-5 kg Carrots and buy peanuts for the monkeys! Totally worth it for any age.

The safari tour was great but the rest more la la.. Rest is the second part of walking tour including a funny train and many closed attractions. Also they forced me to pay extra parking 4 EUR although I paid a family ticket 140 EUR and they know the tour ends with parking and proceeding by foot once through the safari with the car🤣 . Pretty low and embarrassing 👎 But!! The camels are over cool. 🐫

Loved it! Safari from the car was definitely the best part! Bring carrots with you, animals will love it. It can get slow and crowded in the season, so have patience and enjoy the ride. Bring water with you cause it can take 2 hours to just go through the first part in car. You don’t have to buy tickets in advance, you can do it at the gate from your car when you arrive.

Great time spent with the family in the Safari and the park! The park is huge, you can see the animals very close, pet them! The animals are well looked after, there is no bad smell at all! Their territory is large, it looks like the animals are happy in the park! I highly recommend it!
Egle V — Google review
Amazing place!! Deffinitely worth visiting if you're in Apulia. It is a 5km drive through areas with different animals. You can go either with your car or with a safari bus & driver who explains about the animals. If you choose the latter - as we did and it was quite busy, the safari bus has priority when driving around the area and can stop closer to the animals. I think it is the biggest safari in the region and it has a lot of animals like lions, tigers, hippos, rhinos, giraffes, elephants and more Some of them are directly on the road and you can even touch and feed them! Strongly recommend! If you're visiting by train - there is a free shuttle bus from the train station to the park.

Jonian Dolphin Conservation is a renowned marine research team that operates in the waters around Puglia, focusing on observing and safeguarding the dolphins of the Ionian Sea. Participants can join the crew aboard the 12-meter-long Lady-Hawke catamaran to engage in marine research activities using advanced monitoring equipment. This includes photographing dolphin fins, recording their sounds, and collecting oceanic environmental data.
My sister who works as a marine biologist has been recommending me to take part in this small journey for the past two years. It was incredible to discover how many beautiful creatures we can find in their amazing habitat, and the work that the guys are doing is essential in order to study the dolphins, to preserve their territory and to guarantee them a safe future. I was born in Taranto and I rarely come back to visit, but after this experience I understood that my land has a lot more to offer than I could imagine. I hope to come back to visit soon. A massive thanks to Monica and Alessandro, I really appreciated the way you treated all guests, and I'm also thankful for having seen you keeping the sea clean from potential dangers like plastic and fishing nets.

This was an absolutely fantastic experience. Initially I was worried about spending 5 hours on a boat but the time flew so quickly that we didn't even realize it. We were lucky to see dolphins, turtles, and many other species on the surface, this is not always possible though and does not depend on the crew... The members of the association were so helpful and polite, they revealed so many details of their work and were careful to answer each of our questions. I was amazed at how respectful they are in regards to the sea life. Make sure to book your trip in advance and get ready to see unforgettable sequences of marine life!

An amazing experience. It is magnificent to see the beauty, power and elegance of those wonderful creatures. It is unbelievable how close they came to our observation deck and seeing them in their natural environment and behaviour made us simply speechless. The local guides on board are very skilled biologists and they really know what they are talking about. An appropriate English translation was offered, which makes it a wonderful half-day trip also for non-italian speakers like us. We would join this trip for sure the next time we visit Puglia. A big thanks to the entire staff.

This excursion was definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy. It was well organized and highly informative. Being able to observe these dolfins in their natural habitat was like nothing I had ever experienced. The well being of these animals is of paramount importance to the staff and crew. When we would come upon a family of dolfins they would shut off the catamaran's engine and ask us to speak quietly so as to not agitate the animals. It was an amazing opportunity and one that I would highly recommend.
Cybèle D — Google review
A day that we will always remember and changed our perspective forever. We spent the day with the association on their boat with our 3 daughters (the youngest is 4), and it was amazing. We could see more dolphins that we could dream of (stripped and buttlenose dolphins), playing and jumping in front of our boat. The association members are passionate and do everything to transmit their love for cetaces' and explain how to protect them. The dolphins were never attracted by food or tracked down. If they seem shy, we just stopped following them but the stripped ones were amazingly curious. Even though everyone else spoke English, Juli was kind enough to translate everything for us, which made the tour as educational as it was impressive. Just remember that you need to bring your lunch (drinks are provided for) and sunscreen. No need for swimming equipment since it is no allowed to swim with the dolphins.
Virginie G — Google review
We went on the 20/7 and saw 2 large groups of dolphins (more than 50 in total). It was an amazing and beautiful experience to see them in their natural habitat. The crew is passionate and dedicated to nature preservation and they share their passion with all passengers. A wonderful way to increase awareness on how to help dolphins at individual level. Thank you for you work!

Don’t be fooled by first impressions. The outside looks like just another small cathedral. Walking in it all seems rather plain. You must go further, the ceiling and stone floor near the altar are interesting. You must go to the right side and to the big chapel. That is where the amazement is. A stunning ceiling painting, statues and wall decorations. Don’t miss the crypt either. It is only open to 12:45 in the morning and then in the evening. It is closed in the afternoon, so you need to plan your visit there. It is free to enter.

Located on the island of Borgo Antico, at the entrance to the bay surrounding Taranto, Castello Aragonese is one of Italy's oldest and most grandiose sights. Built between 1487 and 1492 by Ferdinand II of Aragon, it replaced an earlier Norman structure. The castle offers guided tours by the Italian Navy and features two cafes and a bookshop.
The entrance is free, it is at fixed times, it is a navy museum and the tour is guided by a navy guide. I recommend that you make a reservation so that you don't have emotions, we didn't know and we didn't, but we were still allowed access, I think it's related to the number of visitors at that time. The guide's explanations are interesting and complete, in Italian anyway, but you can still take pictures of the castle, the interior models, the surroundings and enjoy the sunset if you are at the right time.

Astonishing scenes of old and new. The Ponte Girevole (swing bridge ) opens for ships and connects too seas. Castello has free tours but in Italian only

Entry is only by the free guided tour at set times during the day and evening. It is still an Italian Navy facility therefore the restrictions. It is still is worth viewing from the outside. We couldn’t wait 2 hours for the next tour so we had to skip it. Definitely would do it next time.
Simon R — Google review
A very nice visit at the castle. A navy official provides a guided tour for free (in Italian) every hour. The tour gives information over the history of Taranto and the castle. I found it very informative and entertaining. I would recommend doing it if you are visiting Taranto. Also I was amazed that by the sunset, they displayed the Italian flag with lights on one of the sides of the Costello while playing some anthem (I wish I knew what was it), I loved that moment.
Babysooz — Google review
A beautiful castle belongs to the Italian navy, but an unpleasant surprise awaited us, you must have booked a tour guide, that's the only way you can enter...!!! It doesn't even matter so it's worth a visit. Highly recommended.

We wanted to visit the castle, but the experience at the reception was rather unpleasant. The information provided was very insufficient. We asked for a tour in English, but it was not available, and they also refused to let us join the Italian-language group.

Ponte S. Francesco da Paola, also known as Ponte Girevole, is a historic bridge in Taranto that separates the Old City from the New City. Originally designed with two rotating arms operated by a vertical pivot, it now operates using electric motors. The bridge connects the old and new parts of the city and offers access to notable landmarks such as the Town Hall and the ancient Doric Temple columns located near the castle.

Centro Storico, the pedestrianized historic center of Locorotondo, is a charming area that can be easily explored in just a few hours. However, visitors are encouraged to embrace the leisurely pace of life here. Take your time wandering through the narrow cobblestone streets and admiring the whitewashed houses adorned with balconies and plants. As you stroll, be sure to look out for baroque archways and traditional cummerse architecture.

History Museums
The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, also known as Marta, is a treasure trove that chronicles the rich history of Taranto through an impressive collection of artifacts. Established in 1887, it stands as Apulia's first territorial museum and has evolved significantly over the years. Visitors can explore items ranging from Paleolithic carvings to vessels from the early Middle Ages.
Magnificent museum with a wealth of findings from local excavations (particularly from the Greek necropolis of Taras) as well as a very informative exposition about the early mycenian and greek settlements in the area, the Roman annexation of Taras, reaching up to the medieval era. The findings are presented in two floors. One should follow the map provided by the friendly employees at the entrance to see the exposition in chronological order. The absolute highlights here are the extensive and very well-preserved pottery collection, the tomb of the pentathlon athlete, as well as the intricate handcrafted jewelry that has been unearthed. Other interesting findings include some Roman era mosaics and written laws, as well as large coin hoards from various eras. Additionally, the museum currently holds a temporary exhibition about Penelope and the Odyssey in a broader historical and art context. About the museum itself, it is wheelchair accessible and the ticket for one adult costs 10 Euros (in my opinion, well worth the price). Descriptions are available in Italian and English, and there is the option of an audio tour. There are clean bathrooms on every floor. For a complete visit of all exhibits, estimate 2-3 hours in total. All in all, a must-see in Taranto for history and archeology enthusiasts as well as for anyone seeking to understand the many-layered history of this ancient city! Grazie mille!

This museum and Museo Sigismondo Castromediano in Lecce will give you excellent overview of the history of this region. It is impressive what artefacts they have from Ancient Greek and Roman times. The collection comes mostly from necropolis. Definitively worth a visit, we were in November and we were the only people here while visiting the museum … If you buy ticket for MUDI you will get discount for this museum and vice versa. Kudos to friendly stuff.

What a gem! Such a beautiful collection. The highlights for us included the collection of Medusa faces and the incredible array of jewelry. A couple of lovely temporary exhibitions rounded it out. Worth the visit and a good audio guide as well.
Kim L — Google review
This is one of the most surprising and jaw dropping museums I have ever visited. I would very rarely suggest driving hours out of your way for a museum but if you are a fan of Greco-Romano culture this gas artefacts that are just outstanding. The audio guide gives you a pretty good background but I could have spent hours and hours here - instead we only spent 2.5 hours in this museum as it was just so overwhelming. The athletes section is amazing, especially if you have an interest in pan-Atheneum games.

Pretty good for the history before BC, but minimal history after that! I really enjoyed the videos and want more of them to give 5 stars. I went on a Sunday and it wasn’t crowded. But don’t use the elevator/lifts is you have a fear of small, packed , and hot stuffy spaces.
Patrick C — Google review
We spent a couple of hours here and it was worth every penny - a really epic display of history with so many items and so much detail! The huge mosaics were a highlight. Even though it wasn't applicable to us we also appreciated the accessibility with several sensory exhibits for people without vision, and ramps and lifts.

Incredible museum in Taranto - boot of Italy, that traces it's history from 800 BC through the Grecco Roman Period. Wonderfully displayed artifacts which guide you through it's long history. Unfortunately, it is really the only site worth visiting. A pretty old city, but nothing remarkable. But if you find yourself in Taranto, it's well worth your time!

Such an amazing Basilica in the centre of Martina Franca. Blown away for the architecture, and the art work. If you’re ever in Martina Franca visiting this basilica is a must!

A most impressive church. This huge building with impressive steps is neatly hidden along the thin streets and winding alleyways. We were lucky enough to witness a christening with all attending dressed perfectly on a very hot day. The front of this building is incredibly tall and sits imposingly over the small square in front. Did not get to see inside but visiting other local churches shows the extent of the impressive art and architecture in Martina Franca.

Why so much garbage in certain places, plastic ppl leave cigarette butts all over, I hate this no matter where I visit. It's too lazy not to pick it up and put it in a trash receptacle somewhere or put it in a bag and throw it out later. This was the negative .

The beach offers convenient lounge chair and umbrella rentals, making it easy to settle in for a day of leisure. Visitors can also enjoy delicious meals at the airy on-site restaurant and bar, where the warm hospitality of the owners shines through in their attentive staff.
Amazing spot on the Ionian coast of Apulia, worth a trip for the crystal clear seawater and white sandy beach. Excellent structure with all the services you can think of, plenty of staff. What makes this different from the other many places on the coastal route? The genuine kindness of the owners which seems to permeate the entire crew on duty…

Food portion a bit small for the price but overall clean water easy access / entrance. We paid 20 euro for a sunbed and umbrella in a pretty central place. I would Recommend it

The beach is amazing and well maintained, unfortunately the Resturant service is less than avarage and more expensive than a restaurant. We paid 10 euro for 5 meatballs ( normally is part of a startet at any resturant in Taranto and priced aroun d 3-4 euros) and 10 euro for some iceberg salad with some mais..... So lesson learned, next time I LL bring my own food . Answering comments from Bahia del Sol: Unfortunately the dish was not started ... 5 meatballs it's the full portion, one is broken up to show the inside .... . I even asked to the staff If this was a real portion and the lady replied: YES 5 meatballs it's the full portion . Really a pity to see this happening in Apulia.

As we entered, we were struck by the serene atmosphere and the soft light filtering through the stained glass windows, creating a peaceful and contemplative environment. A historical and spiritual gem in the heart of Ostuni. The church of San Francesco d’Assisi blends centuries of devotion with beautiful Baroque and Renaissance touches. The current façade, rebuilt in 1883, is elegant and welcoming, and the interior tells a long story of faith, art, and architecture. Un luogo silenzioso, ricco di storia e fascino francescano. A must-see when visiting Ostuni!

We stayed two days in ostuni, and we really wanted to visit the catherdral . We checked the opening time, it should be open. But each time we go there, the door was closed, and there is no any information about why it’s closed. I asked a lady she lived nearby, she told me Saturday should always open, I waited outside Saturday morning till almost 11:00am, it’s still not open. The catherdral should be very impressive, but we couldn’t give 2 stars. The service is too bad!

We have travelled all over the world, but nowhere else have I found a place where you can eat a delicious plate of pasta with lobster for an affordable price and enjoy the day swimming in crystal clear water before relaxing on white sand. Thanks to the staff here who made our stay with family so relaxing and memorable. In particular we enjoyed the fantastic seafood dishes (we kept coming back several days for more) - such as the fried seafood platter, pasta with mussels and traditional aperitivo. The value for money is also very good here, particularly considering its easy to find free street parking nearby. We would often get into the habit of taking a late breakfast here because it was so nice to have a coffee overlooking the stunning view.
