Very beautiful and historic mosque from timber. What is special at that mosque; its construction has no single one nail!

(Translated by Google) The Göğceli Mosque, which was made entirely of wood without using nails, is located in the Samsun Çarşamba Göğceli Cemetery. According to some sources, the mosque, which was built in 1206 during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan I. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev, was made entirely of wood using the masonry technique. It is said that there are two more similar ones in Çarşamba district. The size of the mosque is approximately four hundred square meters. I think this incredibly beautiful mosque should be added to the UNESCO list. The structure, which is one of the largest masonry wooden mosques in Türkiye with an area of 392 square meters, is also the oldest wooden mosque in Türkiye. (Original) Tamamen ahşap malzemeden çivi kullanılmadan yapılmış olan Göğceli Camii Samsun Çarşamba Göğceli Mezarlığı içerisinde bulunuyor. Kimi kaynaklarda 1206 yılında Anadolu Selçuklu Sultanı I. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev döneminde inşa edildiği belirtilen cami tamamen ahşap malzemeden yığma tekniği ile yapılmış.

(Translated by Google) The mosque is one of the most beautiful examples of architecture built with the wooden stacking technique. There is no construction inscription for the mosque, and no recorded endowment charter has been found. As a result of tests conducted on wooden samples taken from the building by scientists from abroad, it was understood that the mosque was built in 1206 and the portico in front was added or repaired in 1335. The mosque was built with the wooden stacking technique, with wooden curtains extended along the wall as a single piece with wolf's throat inserts at the corners. No nails were used in the structure. Forged iron nails were used only in the connection of the pole heads to the beams and in the additions made to the rafters extending towards the portico sections in the harim section. Elm, ash and chestnut trees were used in many parts of the structure, such as the walls, poles, pole heads, beams and rafters. The planks used in the walls as a single piece are approximately 15-18 cm thick, 50-70 cm wide and approximately 12-20 m long. The wooden mosque is portable. The base of the structure is raised 60-70 cm from the ground with the help of logs placed on large stones. The depth below is opened to prevent the structure from getting air, moisture and decay. The interior ceiling decorations of the structure have faded and fallen off in places. The roof, which is slightly rounded on the north side, is a three-shouldered hipped roof and is covered with Turkish style tiles. The structure underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2007. In the harim, there are purlins, grafts on the rafters and pillars, and pencil-shaped embroidery made with root dyes on the roof boards. Excerpt from the Samsun provincial ministry of culture page... (Translated by Google) One of the few mosques where I feel so peaceful. It is located in the middle of a large cemetery. Our martyrs, the unclaimed graves... all in bloom together. The chirping of birds in the garden takes you to other times. A rare mosque where we can see that performing prayer has such a concrete equivalent. It is made of nail-free interlocking wood. You can see that the walls are buckling from age. It is definitely worth going, spending some time there and greeting the caravan that we will definitely join one day...

Our visit to Barshamba Highlands was unforgettable, feeling truly like paradise on earth. The breathtaking landscapes, fresh air, and pleasant weather made the trip a wonderful and special time for all of us. We felt as if we were in Switzerland, surrounded by the stunning mountains and the beauty of nature. We had a great time exploring the mountain villages and terraced farms, enjoying the peace and calm away from the city noise. There is a lovely park suitable for cooking and picnics, where we enjoyed spending quality time together and preparing meals amidst the beautiful natural surroundings. This place left a deep impression on us, and I will definitely return many times in the future. I highly recommend everyone visit Barshamba Highlands to experience a unique blend of natural beauty and rich AYBASTI culture.

Beautiful green carpeted hills. A very vast landscape with awesome views. There is a lake that has a walkway. Can see shephards moving their herd in the distance. Road to it is great well paved. There are lots of places to eat and buy souvenirs. Fresh crisp air and very windy. Make sure to go on a clear day otherwise it'll be cloudy and you won't be able to see anything. Toilets are paid and disgusting, would be better to go to ones in the eateries. Would definitely visit again.

Such a beautiful place. It has some sitting areas if you would like to sit and enjoy the view. So you can do a tiny picnic with your loved ones. And it has a cafe and also a praying room. The entrance fee for a car is 50 lira. Unlike a lot of natural parks, it was really clean and well reserved. I would like to thank to people who are in charge of the place.

Cape Yason

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Quiet cape with a church built in 1868 & after the mythological leader Jason of the Argonauts.
Special place it’s for pics mined and relaxations you have to sit and drink some çay or coffee and enjoy the magic of nature ♥️🫶🏻
Razan M — Google review
Jason Church Situated on the jason Cape Peninsula, the church has been built in 1869 by Greeks habitants of the area. Lt is a first degree archeological and second degree SIT site. Having a small dome of three apses, light and dark stones have been used on its front. On the interior, the church has been divided into thres naves with two rows of pillars. There are two entrances, one on the South and the other on the west. With renovation efforts started by our governor Kemal Yazıcıoğlu in April 2004, the church has enriched tourism of our city.
Erol T — Google review
Flat grassy point of land surrounded by an unusual flat shelf of rock just below the surface of the water. The old church is pretty, but closed. There are some ruins but no signs to indicate what they were. There are tables and benches. It’s a nice place to come for a picnic.
Joel B — Google review
A must see when in the city of Ordu or near! For me it was a natural wonder, being in the middle of the sea but at the same time on land! Very well maintained, very clean, public picnic tables & seating are available in the place, in addition to sun bathing seats! I recommend having your swimming suits with you when you visit the place as the water will invite you to take a jump! Unfortunately I didn't see a place to change your clothes afterwards but a public bathroom is near the place.
Asma R — Google review
Must visit legendary place! It's a small cape with an old Greek church (closed) and a lighthouse. Full flat so no climbing. There are banks to sit and rest. You're gonna leave your car at the entrance and walk along the cape. You can arrange it like 20 min short overview visit or stay there for some longer time to rest or picnic. No recommended for swimming. Infrastructure like visitors centre, cafe and toilets was still under construction during our visit.
Mili D — Google review
Fascinating nature, amazing view. Splendid sea and green 💚 now, car parking available.
Tamer O — Google review
Very nice and peaceful around the area. Sit and have a çay, read and enjoy the view.
Darren T — Google review
Closed just like the archeological museum of Samsun and Trabzon 🙄! Even without the corona-crisis there is no reason for tourists to visit this whole part of the black sea region! By the way, it's just the road - the church is still in good shape and could be opened anyways...

Ordu cable car

Mountain cable car
Transportation
Gondola ride to a forested peak with cafes & restaurants, plus views over the city & coastline.
When we went they take 400 TL per person, even the 3 years old one. It is about 12$ which is not cheap! We wait for 10 minutes to buy the ticket and 10 minutes to get in. But it was worth it
Sarah A — Google review
It’s good to go up with a cable car to Boztepe. You can see the black sea shore and also the Ordu city view. It’s really beautiful! The round way is 25TL, one way is 15TL for one Adult. You can see a really nice view from the cable car going up and down. Not much longer waiting time. 🙂
SoYa T — Google review
Total rip-off, the cost of a roundtrip ticket is 700 lira for foreigners, seriously? Sorry, but not worth it. Turkey really has to re-think their double standards and policies. After spending 1 month in the country as a tourist I can confim that prices for foreigners are out of control in general (often much higher than Western Europe) and this is extremely annoying and unfair. No wonder that tourism industry is going down.
Georgi M — Google review
Highly recommend it to see entire city of ORDU,TURKIYE from top of high mountain . Great feeling to have a coffee or tea from top snd get a bird eye view of the city

Must do activity! Marvellous views! Cabine is for 6 people. The hill where you're gonna climb to (Boztepe) looks like a cute touristic walking zone with some souvenir shops and restaurants. Unfortunately bikes are NOT allowed to carry :( pleeease change that
Mili D — Google review
The area is great and is a must visit for the view and the stores at the end it is really nice , however the food isn't the best in black sea area for some reason and bathrooms aren't best either which is an unfortunate thing , however the place is good it has a mosque too (try avoiding public bathroom there) the park is nice too and has a great view
Duaa H — Google review
Just awesome 😎 wooow big wow for this telfrik it moves you from amazing city side to an amazing view up there with view of city and Black Sea half by half not to forget the cafes and super nice breeze which took you out of this world!
Rose L — Google review
Everybody must take it at least once. You would understand the city much more and see some graphiti walls you didn’t advice from the ground. Cabins are very clean and well maintained. You can easily go with baby stroller aa the cabin slows down to enter and exit. Top of the mountain is also a must in Ordu and a picture at the paraglider launch ramp.

Nestled just a 15-minute drive from the stunning Mavigol Kuzalan Falls, Kulakkaya Yaylası Giresun is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. The journey to this enchanting plateau takes you through lush, misty forests and towering mountains, making it an ideal escape on a hot July day.
15 min drive on a freshly paved road from Mavigöl Kuzalan Falls. It is an amazing place. The road is beautiful passes through dark misty forests and tall mountains. Ofcourse a cooler place on hot July day. We were going to Mavigöl and our accommodation host recommended this place as a must see. The place seems newly devloped and has good places for food, coffee/tea. There are also clean public toilets. The place seems untouched by tourists at the moment, a much better place than Ayder.

The panoramic views from the top of the castle are truly breathtaking, showcasing sweeping vistas of Giresun city, the Black Sea, and the picturesque coastline. It's an ideal spot for capturing stunning photographs and immersing oneself in nature's beauty.
A must-visit place if you're ever in Giresun. Be prepared to take a lot of photos. Also, I highly recommend NOT to go during the summer time. The heat takes away from enjoying the park

Both mystical and epic place. Geat topography and that presents amazing views from surround there for both every season and day time however especially dawn and dusk times are my favorites. Actually, time lapse videos emerge this beauty very much.

The place is beautiful with stunning view at the cost and city. It wasn’t really a castle, just few standing walls, yet worth the visit. We had fries and meatloaf (kind of) and smoothies (milkshakes)… at the restaurant there and it was good with clean toilets. But the public toilets there were horrible.

The ancient cave offers a breathtaking display of natural artistry, sculpted by time and the elements. Its intricate formations and stunning colors create a truly unforgettable experience for all who enter. Exploring the depths of this natural wonder allows one to appreciate the quiet power of the earth. Surely, you will find yourself in awe of this geological marvel. Visiting this location is an excellent opportunity to connect with the world around you.

Review of Karaca Cave from My Trip to Trabzon During my recent trip to Trabzon, I had the chance to visit Karaca Cave, and it was truly a highlight of the journey. Tucked away in the mountains near Gümüşhane, the cave is a peaceful and serene place that offers not just stunning underground beauty, but also breathtaking views from the mountaintop. The panoramic view from above is absolutely unbelievable—like something out of a dream. The cave itself is a natural wonder, full of intricate stalactites, stalagmites, and colorful rock formations. It’s hard to believe this hidden gem was only officially opened to visitors in 1996, after being scientifically explored in the 1980s by geological engineer Şükrü Eroz, in collaboration with Karadeniz Technical University. Locals had known about it for generations, and it’s easy to see why they kept it close—it’s magical. After exploring the cave, we enjoyed some delicious traditional handmade food nearby. There’s a small bazaar near the entrance where you can buy local gifts, traditional sweets made from fruits and nuts, and other handmade items that reflect the region’s culture. It’s the perfect spot to pick up a souvenir or treat. If you’re ever in Trabzon or the surrounding area, I highly recommend making time for Karaca Cave. It’s a peaceful escape into nature and tradition—a true hidden treasure in the mountains.

Sümela Monastery

Mentioned on

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Sümela Monastery, located to the east of Trabzon, is a historic site with a museum showcasing religious history dating back to the 4th century A.D. The monastery, situated high up in the mountains, offers breathtaking views and a unique landscape. While entrance fees for foreigners have been criticized as being unreasonably high, the site's well-preserved frescos, old library rooms, and prayer rooms make it a must-visit attraction.
Finally got the chance to visit this stunning historical place. The place attracts so many tourists so get ready for a really busy area. You cannot enter with your car, but only with the shuttle managed by the site itself. The ticket price is 70 Turkish lira per person. Once you reach there you have to get ready for a long stairs to reach the ticket office. Definitely I will not recommend it for elder people or people with low fitness and children under eight years. It is located in the mountain with an elevation of more than 1000 m. Breathtaking views during the journey to the monastery. Classified as one of the most important historic venues in Trabzon.
N A — Google review
I highly recommend visiting Sümela Monastery — it’s one of the most impressive historical places in the Black Sea region. The entrance ticket to the monastery itself is 20€, and it’s absolutely worth it. There is a long staircase to reach the top, so be prepared for some climbing, but once you arrive, the view is breathtaking. The monastery is built inside a cliff, and the atmosphere is magical — you can take amazing photos of the nature, the fog, and the mountains surrounding the site. If you love history, architecture, and dramatic landscapes, this place is a must-see. Totally worth the effort and the time! 🌿

Amazing place so glad to finally make it here! The weather wasn't good but it thinned out the crowds which we appreciated. Unbelievable story and impressive building skills in such a remote place. The surrounding Park is beautiful as well. The only negative impression is pay to park then pay to use the restroom then pay to enter the monastery. 1 price please.
Robert Q — Google review
Remarkable achievement—best appreciated from multiple viewpoints Sumela Monastery is genuinely impressive, particularly when you consider the engineering feat of building such comprehensive quarters into a cliff face centuries ago. The scale and ambition of the construction is what really stands out. What Makes It Special: - The real beauty is in viewing it from a distance—seeing the whole structure clinging to the mountainside puts the achievement in perspective - Inside, peer out from the windows in the quarters—the views and sense of exposure are striking - Don't skip the detour to Aya Varvara Kilisesi nearby—it offers an awesome distant view of the monastery and is just 70m at the entrance Practical Tips: - Lots of stairs and uneven surfaces—watch your footing and take it slow - The site itself requires careful navigation; not a place to rush through - The combination of close-up exploration and distant viewpoints gives you the full picture Why 5 Stars: Understanding what it took to build and maintain this place centuries ago, in this location, makes the visit worthwhile. The engineering and logistics alone are mind-boggling. See it from afar, explore it up close, then step back again—that's when it clicks. Well worth the trip to the Trabzon.
Jun S — Google review
Beautiful monastery, built in 4th century. No amount of words can explain the beauty of the location and the detailed workmanship that went into building this place. The walk to monastery is short but steep, however the views along the way are worth the effort. It's definitely a great place to visit. It does get crowded pretty quickly as large groups visit it
Haaris A — Google review
That experience was a life time experience. I had seen photos before, but it was a hidden gem. When you climb all the stairs to see a monks city, very well preserved was very exciting. Highly recommended experience. My favorite part was to see the church, but very sad to see the murals were destroyed by the first visitors. Seeing all the priest rooms, the kitchen, the library made me to understand the life style of the monks that lived there for many years. The monastery is placed in an amazing nature that takes your breath away.
Selin G — Google review
Magic place in the mountains! As we climbed up the mystic music was echoing from hill to hill. I am posting some photos. The monastery has a special energy and well preserved history of the early Christianity. At the bottom – Altun River (The golden River, which still has some gold.) One of the most mysterious places I have visited! Go see the magic!

It used to be a museum in the past but now it has reverted to being a mosque. The building is amazing and the Byzantine paintings inside, on the walls and ceiling will leave awestruck. The surroundings are also great, with wonderful views of the sea and very nice gardens to stroll around. There is also a lighthouse and some tombstones in the garden. You should get a guide or a local if you want to learn something about the history of the place.

Hagia Sophia Trabzon, a prominent temple both among the monuments of Pontus and among the Byzantine monuments in general, owes its importance to its connection with a variety of historical and archaeological parameters. First of all, it is a monument clearly linked, since its inception, to the local imperial dynasty of the Great Komnenoi. At the same time, the way in which the elements of its architectural design, painting, mosaic and sculptural decoration are combined could be described as unusual and perhaps unique. This uniqueness lies mainly in the coexistence of motile influences, which sometimes refer to the West (in relation to the particular geographical area) and sometimes to the East. Built outside the walls of Trabzon, but within walking distance, the Church of Hagia Sophia - a complex cruciform with a dome, narthex and three impressive propylons - forms the center of a larger fortified building complex. It is flanked by a chapel tower, as well as remnants of a smaller church and other buildings, most probably a monastery. Philological sources of the 14th century mention the monastery "of the Word of God Wisdom", but also "the monastery of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Sophian". In addition, its burial function is strikingly evident and dominant in the shaping of the monument's identity, presumed by the funerary niches and tombstone inscriptions hosted in the temple. However, the function of the church as a cemetery seems to be included in the objectives of imperial sponsorship when it was founded either by Manuel I the Great Komninos (1238-1263) or by his immediate descendants.

A very well preserved mansion that belonged to a Greek (Ottoman back then) banker and used as his summer house. After the population exchange in 1923 he was forced to leave behind his properties (as did thousands of other Greeks) and return back to Greece. The property was gifted to Ataturk 1 year later by the people of Trabzon as he visited it and liked it a lot. The mansion itself is very beautiful and a sign of prosperity of the people back then. Both the interior and exterior are absolutely beautiful and worth visiting if you want to get a glimpse of how rich people lived back then. You can pay by card at the entrance.

Bodies of Water
Uzungöl is a stunning lake nestled in a mountain valley, featuring a charming village with hotels and shops. It's easily accessible from Trabzon, taking around 2.5 hours by car. While it's not recommended to visit during winter due to accessibility issues and many closed shops, the summer offers breathtaking views and pleasant weather. Visitors suggest booking accommodations in advance and bringing supplies from outside the area as things can be expensive with limited services.
It’s a beautiful place, but only for a short visit. I don’t recommend eating in the area—the quality is poor and the prices are extremely high. It’s worth visiting just for the experience; it feels like being in an Arab country.
Mariya — Google review
Uzungol lake is very pretty, surrounded by many halal restaurants and hotels to stay in. You even go glamping around, do some hikes in the area or take a long drive around. There are many picnic places on the way so you can stop on your way and enjoy a little picnic
Shiza S — Google review
Uzungöl is a priceless natural wonder located in the heart of the Black Sea region, about 100 km away from Trabzon, in the district of Çaykara. Nestled in a valley where you can see every shade of green, surrounded by high mountains, the lake looks like a painting. On misty mornings, a light fog drifts over the lake, and as the day breaks it transforms into pure tranquility — truly the capital of peace and serenity. The lake is surrounded by lush forests, and the walking paths around it are both easy and scenic, perfect for nature lovers. The little wooden houses, local restaurants, and shops create a warm, village-like atmosphere within this natural setting. In short, it’s an ideal spot to escape the city and breathe fresh air. However, like a shadow over its beauty, there’s also the issue of “concrete development.” In 2008, a concrete wall was built along the shore, which some environmentalists criticize as a disruption of its natural charm. This has also contributed to the problem of “overtourism.” New buildings and touristic facilities risk damaging the organic character of the place, and unfortunately, this can affect the visitor experience. Still, despite these small criticisms, what makes Uzungöl special is the authentic experience it offers with its nature, silence, and local character. In summer, it’s ideal for picnics and walks; in winter, covered in snow, it turns into a magical landscape. Nearby, you can also visit Sultan Murad Plateau, Ataköy Waterfall, and Demirkapı Plateau, which add even more richness to your trip. In conclusion, Uzungöl is impressive both in photographs and in real life. It’s a place where you can connect with the peaceful face of nature and lose yourself in its pure beauty. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. But it’s also important that we all take responsibility, even in small ways, to protect the sustainability of this unique area.
Maksut C — Google review
Uzungöl Lake is absolutely stunning — surrounded by lush green mountains with mist often drifting over the water, creating a magical atmosphere. Perfect for photos, peaceful walks, and relaxing in nature. Cafés and small restaurants around add charm, but it can get crowded during peak season. A must-visit in Trabzon!
Amr W — Google review
Uzungöl is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited in Turkey. The lake surrounded by high mountains and green forests feels like a completely different world. The air is fresh, the nature is peaceful, and the scenery is simply breathtaking. In the early morning, the mist over the lake creates a magical atmosphere that’s hard to describe in words. There are many nice walking paths, photo spots, and cozy places to enjoy traditional tea by the lake. There are plenty of restaurants around and the prices are reasonable. It’s perfect for a romantic getaway, a family trip, or even solo travel. If you’re in Trabzon or anywhere in the Black Sea region, Uzungöl is definitely a place you must visit! 🌿✨

08/08/2025 This place is one of the most beautiful places I've visited in my whole life. I went there in August and the weather was perfect. Make sure to wear something warm. Ask your driver to take you to the waterfall on your way there. When you get to the lake you can rent a bike for 10 lira/hour, or you can ride a boat for approximately 50 lira/20 minuets, and there is the parachute too, but it's expensive if you're with a big group (500 lira per person). I highly recommend going there especially if you're with your friends and have no babies.

Rize Fortress

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Partially ruined medieval castle set atop a hill offering panoramic city views plus a cafe.
A breath breaking view of Rize city and Black Sea a must visit while in northern of Turkey
Abdulaziz M — Google review
This fortress is very close to Rize city, it has a beautiful masjid and an awesome view of Rize city from top. At the top of the fortress you can enjoy having çay in a cozy coffee shop. A very beautiful place to see in Rize .
Mohamed A — Google review
The fortress is small & it takes around 20 minutes from the city centre. It's free of charge, as there is no ticket office. Beautiful views and they have also got cafe on the top.
Marina B — Google review
It’s not really a fortress, it’s a cafe on top of the walls of an old guarding post. There isn’t anything to visit, just enjoy the view with some drinks or food. There is parking at the top, but difficult to get to it if any roads close… not recommended for a hike, unless you really want to walk more that day, as it’s quite a steep incline and took around 40 minutes from city center.
Carmin B — Google review
A good stop on the way to Rize-Artvin. Nice place, but smaller than the expectation. On the top, there are many great views. Each corner has a unique view: tea mountains, Black Sea, and different city views. There are many options for a quick drink or small bites. I won’t spend more than 15-30 minutes here. There are many things to be discovered in the area. The castle wasn’t in our plan, it popped up on the map and we stopped to see it. Unfortunately, we missed one of the amazing points on our plan because of this stop.
Faiza K — Google review
- Good place to visit in 4ize but I recommend afternoon for cup of tea and enjoy. - Kids has place to play (swing and ride) - there are mosque for both men and women and WC.

Located near the Black Sea coast and Kackar Mountain National Park, this charming establishment offers a delightful experience of sipping Rize's famous tea and indulging in local desserts amidst stunning views of mountains and villages. The garden boasts a variety of tea leaves and flowers, creating an enchanting greenery-filled ambiance.
This garden is under the Manspality of Rize and has a beautiful small çay factory, you can see the process of making different types of çay manually, and you can enjoy drinking awesome çay in the beautiful garden under the trees . A must see place in Rize ❤️
Mohamed A — Google review
A peaceful, surrounded by beautiful trees, for a cup of tea , and the children can play at the play area.
Yas — Google review
Nice experience although can be improved a lot. If I own this place I would create a tour to show the whole process of doing tea from cultivation until service. They have a nice cafe where they only serve tea and some beverages not more. I saw many families bringing in their food. Prices are really affordable
Noureddin I — Google review
It cool to go there with the family, great view , great photo spots and a play ground for kids , the most amazing the smell of the tea garden
Daroo A — Google review
Tea tea and more tea in turkey.. But this city it's known for its unique and delicious one.. Try it out here with the one of the most beautiful view of the city.. Spacious seating area.. Only serves tea so you may bring your food along with you... You have to buy some of the same tea from just out side the botanic garden there is a small shop ask them for the same tea you have just enjoyed inside... Loved the place.. Alot of families and friends gather there... Loved the place... Here you'll find the local people enjoying gatherings who are really friendly and lovely... Enjoyed it and you should while in the city... It's located inside the botanic garden... Sometimes the signs get you lost a bit

Came here 5 years ago and back again today still amazing! Beautiful nature, chill vibes. Rain got in the way a bit and we had to leave early, but still so glad I came back!

A very beautiful tea garden in Rize sponsored by the famous tea company, Çaykur. It is an open door cafe at an elevated location with lot of greenery around it. It overlooks the Rize city. It has a parking space. The service is good and the prices are low (1 TL for a tea cup). It has a Çaykur company store that sells all kinds of their brand tea packets for a fair price. It is highly recommended for visiting if someone is visiting Rize.

Palovit Waterfall

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Palovit Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder nestled amidst lush green forests and rolling hills, accessible via a paved road and stairway. While the drive to the site can be challenging, with narrow and damaged roads in some parts, the breathtaking sight of the large and powerful waterfall makes it worth the journey. Visitors are advised to exercise caution if self-driving, especially during rainy weather, and consider booking a car with a driver for convenience.
A hidden gem in the heart of nature! Palovit Waterfall is stunning-surrounded by lush greenery, mist, and the sound of rushing water. The walk through the forest adds to the magic. Peaceful, powerful, and unforgettable!
Ziad M — Google review
Visiting this waterfall left an unforgettable impression! You can view it from the side — the waterfall looks truly impressive. There used to be a viewing platform at the bottom, but it’s currently closed, so you can only watch it from the side now. The road to the waterfall itself is very beautiful and atmospheric, setting the mood even before you arrive. Nearby, there is a small café where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and soak in the natural surroundings. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves beautiful natural spots!
Любовь С — Google review
Beautiful fall, very narrow road. Ni restrooms.
Ahmed B — Google review
Amazing site with a rainbow 🌈 in the air. It won't take 5 stars for 2 main reasons. 1. The wooden stairs are closed, so this is the closest you will get to the water fall as you see in the video 2. The road to reach there is not prepared enough for the number of cars visiting the place it can take hours to reach there to take 2 nice pictures and then leave. I won't go again, especially on a public holiday
Ahmed G — Google review
It is an amazing waterfall. This my second visit. On my first visit, I was able to get closer to the waterfall but this time the path way to the waterfall is under construction. So, we could get closer to the waterfall. Before you go there consider this info. Again it is still worth seeing the place.
Dr. A — Google review
The waterfall is nice BUT: - the road up past the stone gate is small, 90% of it fits only one car, not two, so it’s difficult to drive up and down on it - the road gets very narrow at the top close to the waterfall, and the parking at the top gets full, so people start to park on the side of the road, blocking it - the passageways around the waterfall were fully closed, so we couldn’t even get close. Had to take 2 pictures from the top while looking at the pathways under us - it’s incredibly crowded, making going up and down difficult, and dangerous. Even if standing to take pictures, have to pay attention to cars… - there is no place to sit or enjoy, just a couple kiosks selling corn and stuff Would not recommend unless they open the pathways… If possible, and in good fitness, I would recommend to walk the 3.7 km up, but keep in mind it’s intense. It’s quite a lot of elevation gain, so it takes almost 2 hours and there will be cars going up and down on very narrow bends
Carmin B — Google review
It is worth visiting, but one should be very cautious by self driving to the site. The last 10-20 km the road gets narrowed and the last 500 m is very bad and the cars get backed. We went in sunny day, I don’t recommend self driving in rainy day it could be dangerous. If self driving try to park at least 400 m away from the site and then walk so u can scape the crowd. I recommend also to book a car with driver ( we booked car with driver for $220 from uzungol for full day and visited different sites). Theres is no facilities up there only few trucks selling corns and drinks, no WC.
Aadil A — Google review
This is the place that locates Çamlıhemşin,Rize.Highly recommend.Holidays time the traffic is heavy and routes are narrow for two cars, but it is worth to see and filling clean air for lungs.

Nestled in the stunning mountains of Arhavi, Mençuna Konakları offers a serene escape just moments away from the breathtaking Mençuna Waterfall. This natural wonder cascades nearly 100 meters and is particularly spectacular during the spring months when water flow peaks. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi while soaking in panoramic views from the terrace or wandering through lush gardens.
Cool setting and nice hike to the waterfall! It takes about 20 minutes (uphill), you can then swim underneath the waterfall. You should wear good shoes!

Amazing waterfall views from the 2nd floor bunglow style house. Sleeping with the water and nature sounds felt so peaceful and amazing. Two bedrooms and a toilet/shower with balcony to enjoy drinks watching the river and the waterfall. We walked up to the top of the mountain where there is a small teashop ,totally worth the climb to enjoy the amazing views. There is a car park outside the hotel, owners were available 24/7 very friendly and helpful local people, beds were comfy, rooms sparkling clean, shower with hot and cold water , nearby vadi restaurant served homemade fresh local food. Overall this was such a great experience worth coming back for sure. If you love nature and want a peaceful retreat, look no further.

Trekking was very hard and long. I don't suggest it for families and people from middle east.
Sinan S — Google review
One of the most beautiful waterfalls of Turkey with a dropping height of almost 100 meters. Water volume is at its peak during April, May although it is remarkable even in dry summer. Could reach after a walk of about 750 meters from where you park your vehicle at Kamilet Valley. Don't forget to have a bath in its small pool just under the falls and enjoy the real piping blodred Blacksea tea before and after your climb to Mençuna. Must see place if you are in the region. Don't miss it...
SADIK B — Google review
The place is understaffed. No electricity in the morning therefore no internet and no warm water. The host is rude. The room they gave us was a small cabin next to kitchen which was loud all night and so small that toilet is 1 meter away from bed. Best would be to stay in arahvi and visit the area as a day trip. This place is not worth the money.

If you want virgin nature so you can stay here . Everything is good except the road but this nature needs that. I hope there will be no human work around here. Workers are friendly. Everything is great.

A magical spot where history meets nature! The twin stone bridges over the rushing river create a picture-perfect scene. A breathtaking panoramic viewpoint overlooking the city of Artvin. The massive statue and towering flag give the place a patriotic and peaceful atmosphere. Perfect spot to enjoy the sunset and take in the natural beauty. Highly recommended for photographers and nature lovers!

Great view on top of Artvin. It was a quite during first day of Eid holiday. Road should have better directions and better infrastructure.
Majed K — Google review
Amazing view point from where you can see the whole of Artvin on one side and mountains on the other. It is high up so weather is great if its a hot day. Big open space with children outdoor play also. There is a restaurant on which the statue stands, however it only serves nescafe and turkish tea. Drive there is quite tricky as the road is steep and windy but it is nicely paved. Must see place if you visit Artvin. Visited July 2022
Amna S — Google review
This is an excellent point to get amazing views of the surrounding landscape and the city perspective.
Eugene P — Google review
It's a good view and cool spot, but you have to go by taxi from Artvin, don't even think about walking, even going down, and it costs a lot (150 round trip. 7.5usd). Maybe get a taxi up and catch a ride down? Not many visitors. I don't know. The views were even better leaving Artvin heading in direction of ardahan and that was free
Guillermo D — Google review
The most interesting thing was not the statute but the abandoned or incomplete building behind. Looks creepy and cool. Also the broken statutes are cool too. Not even mentioning the view of the city.
Hasan B — Google review
It has a very good view point over the whole city and the surrounding mountains, a resting place to get a drink but the quality isn't the best and so many spots were abandoned during construction that make the view less appealing
