Pieskowa Skala Castle

Museum
Castle
Pieskowa Skala Castle, a magnificent Renaissance fortress constructed in the late 14th century, is situated about 30 km from Krakow and 60 km from Katowice. Nestled within Ojcow National Park, it can be reached by car or via hiking trails.
The fog spreads over the trees and gives the castle a special vibe. It seems that people knew how to build impregnable walls. Inside the castle there is a museum and several places to look. The architecture is impressive, how much work was put into the construction and the castle is well-kept, which is very pleasing. There is a restaurant inside, from which you can view the castle and the surrounding rocks.
Yevhenia P — Google review
Pieskowa Castle is a charming and beautifully restored historic site, offering stunning architecture and a picturesque setting. While it is indeed a lovely spot to visit, the number of exhibits and activities inside the castle is somewhat limited, so it might feel a bit underwhelming for those looking for a more interactive experience. However, the serene atmosphere and the surrounding landscape make it an excellent place for a leisurely stroll. On the plus side, the on-site restaurant is exceptional, offering delicious food and a great place to relax after exploring the grounds. All in all, it’s worth a visit, especially for history buffs or those who appreciate a peaceful and scenic day trip.
Anderson — Google review
It was a fun experience. It would have been better if we could have taken an English tour, but we still had a good time poking around on our own. We also explored the surrounding area and saw a few monuments on the way back to the car. We also ate at the restaurant and it was fantastic!
Wendy F — Google review
I enjoyed this castle and its museum even more than Wawel. It’s less crowded, offers a relaxed self-guided tour, and features fascinating artifacts, including period wardrobes and furniture. Surrounded by forested hills, the scenery is especially beautiful in the fall.
Tomasz K — Google review
Not as much things as I expected to see. Most of the exhibits were not used or appeared during the time. After visiting, I am kind of confused. Maybe following with a guide would be better to know the history of this place.
Tracy L — Google review
Interesting castle and good guide, however the object is not accessible by elderly or disabled people due to very steep location and no lift, there's no public transport, paid parkings are terrible (there are ticket machines that won't work), no cellular coverage, and no WiFi available to visitors. We drove 100km just experience the same issues others did...
Marek Ł — Google review
If you are a foreigner, take note that there are only tours in Polish are available and no audio guides are available. Also, if you arrive at 9:15am when the castle opens, the exhibition rooms only open at 10am. Same thing with the toilet. Personally, I am underwhelmed by the castle. It's small, poorly managed and the exhibition rooms are tiny. There's not much to see. If you are looking for a castle close to Krakow to visit, Wisnicz castle is cheaper, grander and much better organised.
Catherine C — Google review
A lot of activities to learn about the history of Pieskowa Skała , it's architecture, art, and more. Zamek Pieskowa Skała is located in the beatifull surrondings of Jura Krakowsko Częstochowska, only 40 minutes drive by car from Krakow.

Zamek Ogrodzieniec

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Part-restored 13th-century fortress with a museum, exhibition gallery in the dungeon, bar & dining.
We went as a family with our toddler. We enjoyed the beauty of this wonderful place with a lot of history to it. The place is not stroller friendly and the toilet area for public was closed for some reason. The ruins of castle itself is a real gem and there is an explanation written for every room that you could read and understand it even more.
Jaikumar G — Google review
Incredible castle ruins on top of a hill, with panoramic views of the surrounding forests! I came here for the Percival concert (Witcher) and it was an amazing medieval ambience.
H F — Google review
Amazing medieval castle with lots of history and additional attractions. Great place to visit for families with children. Plenty of places to eat and park. Highly recommended.
Peter L — Google review
Real gem. The castle is extraordinary and really recommend to visit. If you want to go inside - be advised - it has steep stairs and one steep ladder to one of the towers. Also, nice walk around outside the castle.
PJ L — Google review
The 16th century fortress in Jura region. On the holiday during summer season, the medieval knights show is held. That was good for kids.
SATOSHI ( — Google review
When you first set sight on the castle, you'll immediately be impressed. You'll want to keep looking at it because it's just that beautiful. Then your attention is rerouted by the endless amount of people in yellow vests trying to get you to park in their parking lots. Some even wave glowsticks around. I can't blame the locals for wanting to earn a quick buck off tourists, but it was certainly a bit strange. Some of them even opened up their backyards for parking. We eventually entered a parking lot where we had to pay 5 EUR or 20 PLN, but I can imagine that the price varies per lot. We got out and headed towards the castle, but along the route there was a guy in an ice cream van saying something to us. Now, I don't speak Polish, but my limited knowledge of Czech has allowed me to understand a decent amount of what people are saying. This time, however, he said something that in Czech would translate to pigs, so I can imagine his confusion when I pulled a very confused face after his little sales talk. Anyways, we went further along the path before we were bombarded with stalls on either side of the road. Again, I can't blame locals for trying to earn some money, but I do have to wonder why 1 medieval castle should need around 5 ice cream vans, several stalls selling the same plushies and toys and multiple stalls selling food and drinks. One of them even sold toy machine guns, which is quite odd when you're visiting a medieval castle, where the best gun you were gonna get would only fire a single shot and most likely miss the target, if not blow up into your face. Anyways, we finally got to the ticket office, where there was a small queue but nothing too bad. We went up into the castle area and this was absolutely beautiful. The castle itself had a few shops, but the main event was ofcourse the castle itself. The route was clearly indicated, and took you along almost every inch of the castle. The stairs up to the tower were a bit crowded, but nothing you can really do about that. There were a few little rooms that showcased stuff, including a room dedicated to the Witcher with a very nice replica of his silver sword, if I'm correct in that. In another room there was a canon from the 1700's, which seemed to me to be able to still fire, but I wouldn't recommend firing such an old weapon, lest it blow up in your face. The castle itself is located on a rocky area, which the castle accentuates brilliantly. Even though the castle isn't that large, it seems like it is due to the terrain. Some parts of the castle were lost unfortunately, I would have liked to see a restored version of this castle, I reckon it would have been beautiful if done right. Right now, you can see they "restored" certain small areas with bricks, which I don't think is very historically accurate but I could be wrong in that. A lot of the stairs in the castle have been replaced with concrete or metal ones, which is fair seeing the horrible state of the one staircase they kept in place. When leaving the main castle, the larger area still surrounded by walls is also something you should look at. It features a beautiful rock formation and an old torture chamber. I would take the things on display there with a grain of salt though, seeing there's an iron maiden in this room which they tried to pass off as historically accurate, even though it was only invented in the victorian age, much later than the medieval era. Still, I'm no expert in medieval torture methods so maybe the rest all checks out. When we eventually left the castle, the queue for tickets was way longer. It seemed we had evaded the busy hours, fortunately. Also, before I forget, dogs are allowed to enter the castle, so bring them along if you want. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend you to visit this wonderful place, but it definitely gets one fewer star because of the exceptionally touristy area centered around it.
Mattis V — Google review
I was expecting little because it all looks in ruins (in pictures) but once you are there physically you'll be amazed. Also, The Witcher (Netflix) filmed here.

Royal Castle Bobolice

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Hiking area
Located in the village of Bobolice, Poland, Royal Castle Bobolice is a reconstructed 14th-century castle that offers impressive interiors for visitors to explore. Situated on a scenic hilltop, the castle has been meticulously restored by a private owner over the past 15 years and now stands as one of the top three most beautiful castles in Slaskie Poland.
Beautiful place, they made a great work with the castle renovation and it has such a beautiful view. Just wish there were more info in English. Everything was in polish.
Tainara Z — Google review
Overpriced, extremely over priced over-rated, poor quality This review applies to both Mirów & Bobolice Castles, visited Saturday 2nd November 2024 Firstly, don't bother, don't waste your time. You can see all you need to see from outside the walls, there isn't much else in the grounds or actually inside the castles. Secondly. How did national ancient monuments come to be sold to a private buyer who now makes a profit from them, ...only in Poland. The entrance fee to the grounds is extortionate, hence not advertised on the websites, also there are aditional fees for entrance to the inside of the castles, extortionate again as there is nothing to see. In Bobolice if you want to go to the restaurant, you have to pay the entrance fee to the grounds of the castle.
Jmz A — Google review
Nice place. You can see some old stuff inside the castle. It's worth the visit. I love it.
Ronald M — Google review
Beautiful place and beautiful surroundings. The exposition inside is pretty small. You have 30 mins to visit, which is enough. It is not very "historic" inside, but still nice to see. There is forest around with really nice tracks to walk in a good weather.
Yury R — Google review
One of the best looking castles I have ever seen. I am all for these types of renovations rather than just preserving the ruins.
Matěj V — Google review
Amazing castle Unfortunately employees are very rude. Especially the lady at the hotel reception. I asked her to show me the room to see if I like it or not, I wanted to find accomodation in the region. Price of 390 zlot seemed good to me, but when I asked her 2 show me she said ' I won' t show it to you'. Very disrespectful attitude. If this didnt happen, the castle is amazing.
David P — Google review
Awesome place to see! The inside of the castle is great! Beautiful surround area. Worth the out of the way drive.
David S — Google review
Great place to visit. The castle was restored almost completely by the new owner over the last 15 years. Tremendous job. The castle offers would wonderful views of the Jura. One can see the Mirow castle nearby. It's another great castle. Follow the red trail to get there from Bobolice. The hike takes 20 minutes.

Family House of the Holy Father John Paul II Museum in Wadowice

Mentioned on
5 lists
Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the charming town of Wadowice, the Family House of the Holy Father John Paul II Museum offers a captivating glimpse into the early life of Pope John Paul II. Located on ulica Koscielna, right next to the Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this modern museum is housed in what was once his family home. Visitors can explore an array of photographs, furniture, and memorabilia that tell stories from his formative years.
This is the reason why we went to Krakow, to get closer to St John Paul II. His life story in itself is very much inspiring. The audio guide can also be downloaded on the phone but make sure to bring your ear/headphones otherwise pay a small amount from the museum. A very well worth visit.
Nilo D — Google review
What is there not to like about this place, the home of our greatest ever Pope, absolutely fantastic museum about his life, and especially about his childhood... Prices to get in our rediculously cheap and it's all translated for you via a translator machine you wear around your neck.... To top it off the square it's located in is full of wonderful places to eat once you have finished your visit
Nicolas P — Google review
Beautifully done museum that honors the incredible life of Pope John Paul II. Walking through his family home is both moving and humbling. A must-visit if you’re in Wadowice—he truly was an amazing man

What a delightful house, beautiful museum where you can still feel the spirit of St John Paul. I would love to visit again
Nancy F — Google review
I came late to the door so was the last to go round the muzeum. It was a shame since they had closed down the multimedia elements of the museum. Exhibits give a good flavour of JPII his life, times and achievements.
Franek P — Google review
Visiting the hometown and the home of St John Paul II was a dream come true as Catholics. My husband and I learned so much about the late pope’s life which was built around Wadowice and enriched by the loving and faithful family he had. The museum was nicely organized. I could have given 5 stars if only we did not encounter some bombastic staff inside especially considering that they are supposedly helping visitors in a place where a great pope and now saint once lived.
Ann L — Google review
Very big and interesting. Such a beautiful museum. They gave us headphones and a small radio so we could understand more about the Pope's life and childhood. As in prices very cheap and worth visiting.

Energylandia

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Energylandia is a large amusement park located in Zator, Poland, featuring an impressive array of 17 roller coasters and various water rides. The park offers thrilling experiences for visitors of all ages, with some rides designed to scare even the bravest souls. In addition to the adrenaline-pumping attractions, there are also opportunities to meet storybook characters and enjoy entertaining drift shows. The park's vast territory allows for ongoing expansion and the addition of new attractions.
Such a cool theme park!! I loved it here so much. It's very clean and the coasters are so well maintained, they were all very smooth. I do really recommend spending at least 2 days here so you can take your time going on everything, there is a LOT to do!! A must visit if you enjoy roller coasters
Awkward ( — Google review
Amazing theme park chock full of incredible roller coasters, Zadra being immense - ride it in the dark which elevates it to an entirely new level. Great value for money , ample car parking, tge park was fresh and clean. A great experience
Wayne D — Google review
I visited Energylandia because I was curious about the largest amusement park located near Slovakia. And I must say that I was satisfied. And that was right from the moment I parked my car, which I parked in a huge parking lot located right next to the amusement park. I must note that even though the ticket price is not the lowest, parking is paid separately (7 €/day). The amusement park premises are beautiful, decorated, pleasant movie music plays everywhere and you feel like you are in a fairy tale. There are many shops, restaurants and vending machines. Given that Energylandia has chosen a policy in the style of "buy a full-day ticket and all attractions are included in the price", it is logical that there are queues for each attraction - from 10 to 60 minutes (depending on what day / period you visit Energylandia). One ride lasts about 30 to 90 seconds. However, many of them are worth waiting for, as they offer maximum experience and adrenaline (e.g. speed of 144 km/h or overload up to 4G). You can watch the waiting time on several screens in the park or you can download their mobile application. A practical service is renting boxes to put things away (because you can't wear a cap/glasses/bag, etc. while riding). All you need to do is buy a bracelet (approx. €4), using which you can then always open one box at each attraction. Energylandia really offers an experience for people who like speed and adrenaline. They just have to wait for it :) I definitely recommend it.
NogaCorp — Google review
The biggest amusement park in Poland! Lots of different rollercoasters, including extremely scary and more simple of kids and family. It's worth to spend there the whole day, they have everything you need. Very convenient system of storage boxes, you buy once for 17zl and can reuse it near every rollercoaster endless time. Also train station is very close, you can get by train from Krakow glowny within 1 hour for 12 zl, train goes every hour.
Alesia G — Google review
Amazing roller coaster ride! 🎢 The thrill, speed, and twists were incredible — pure adrenaline from start to finish. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time! Definitely an unforgettable experience!
Yash S — Google review
Without a doubt the best theme park I’ve ever been too, had a lot of fun! Rides are amazing. Something does need to be done about line cutters, did have a bunch of kids jump in line on Mayan by jumping over the wall. Overall an incredibly pleasant experience, everything’s is reasonably well priced and affordable.
Silver A — Google review
This park is awesome! I love their locker system here, it’s very convenient and easy to use. They have lockers almost at every single ride so you can put your backpack or bag in there hassle free! The rollercoasters here are amazing. This park is better than the Six Flags parks I’ve been to. I recommend :)
Tadeusz G — Google review
The amusement park is really big. Next time we will definitely buy the multiple day ticket. We went on Saturday so it was packed. We chose a day that was super hot, but they had stations with water sprayers so that was nice. Waiting time were quite long which we expected as we went on a weekend. Other than that it was great! Even the water park for the kids! Highly recommend to check out this park!

Jasna Góra

Mentioned on

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Jasna Góra is a significant spiritual site in Poland, established by the Paulite order in 1382. The monastery houses the revered Icon of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa and various other sacred artworks. Pilgrims are drawn to this location due to reported miracles associated with the Black Madonna painting in the Chapel of Lady. The site also features an information center that offers guided tours in English.
A truly magical place. Visiting Jasna Góra Monastery was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere is filled with peace and spiritual energy. You can feel a deep sense of calm and sacredness the moment you walk through the gates. A must-visit for anyone seeking reflection, history, or simply a moment of inner peace.
Dovile A — Google review
A heathen here. A pretty magnificent church. Our tour uses a local tour guide who takes us through the church while the Mass is in progress. He's also very thorough with the small museum. The church is dedicated to Black Madonna (the Virgin Mary), mother of Jesus. Reportedly, she possessed extraordinary power.

I love this place a lot. As soon as you walk through the gates it feels like you enter a little village on its own!!! It's a really peaceful and sacred place. I can only recommend ^^

Gorgeous buildings and surroundings. We were lucky enough to be there while mass was on. The sound of singing fills the place with reverie. There are multiple areas of the compound that are well worth a visit.
Andrea B — Google review
Wonderful shrine, a must-see while around Krakow. The icone of our Lady, the beautiful church, a very interesting treasury and museum, and breathtaking view at the top of the tower, all these make this place a magical one.
Nizar K — Google review
My visit to Jasna Góra immediately gave me a sense of falseness and incoherence. The sanctuary presents itself as a place of humility, compassion, and deep spirituality, yet the atmosphere felt strangely performative, almost staged. The devotion is grand, but the emotional tone is rigid — more about preserving an image than expressing genuine faith. What impressed me most was the strong contrast between the values celebrated inside the sanctuary and the social attitudes often seen outside of it. Poland proudly defines itself as a deeply Catholic nation, yet frequently promotes restrictive and exclusionary positions toward migrants, diversity, and LGBTQ+ people. This tension becomes glaring when compared to the very teachings the sanctuary claims to elevate. Below are some of the biblical passages that highlight this contradiction: Hebrews 13:2 “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” Galatians 3:28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Mark 12:31 “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” Seen through this lens, Jasna Góra becomes a symbol of a broader national paradox: a powerful religious identity that often seems disconnected from the empathy, openness, and inclusion that the Gospel itself demands. Instead of spiritual harmony, the visit raises difficult questions about the gap between religious image and social reality.
Dario P — Google review
A beautiful and spiritual place with incredible history. The monastery is impressive, peaceful, and filled with meaning. A must-visit when in Częstochowa.

This is considered to be a sacred place with a miracle-making icon. This historical place is visited by the Pope, too. The architecture with inside decoration of the churches is beautiful! The entrance is free. There is a large parking behind the cathedral complex. Many pilgrims come here every year.

Wonderful shrine, a must-see while around Krakow. The icone of our Lady, the beautiful church, a very interesting treasury and museum, and breathtaking view at the top of the tower, all these make this place a magical one.

Jewish Museum and Synagogue

History museum
Museums
The Jewish Museum and Synagogue in Oswiecim, Poland, are located near the Town Castle and the Museum of the Town. The Memorial Auschwitz-Birkenau is just 3.5 km away, while Energylandia, Poland's largest amusement park, is situated 16 km away. Visitors can take guided tours of the museum and synagogue to learn about Oswiecim before WWII and commemorate the town's community through documents, photos, and archive objects that survived WW2 and the Holocaust.
After having spent the day before in two of the Auschwitz camps, this museum was much needed. We witnessed all the atrocities committed by the Nazis at these camps and the horrifying numbers of people killed there. However, this museum helped to break down these numbers and preserve the memory of those who lost their lives due to Nazism. It also helps visitors understand the town of Oswiecim. I think a lot of tour groups rush in to see Auschwitz, rush out and never spend sufficient time in Oswiecim, but I think it is a must. We had read that the museum was small, but in fact we ended up staying for nearly two hours. We spent quite a bit of time looking at photos and reading about various people's lives. I particularly found the video at the entrance quite interesting about pre-war Poland. What a great addition to the museum! We also liked that we could access more information from our phones about the different displays. It is really an excellent museum and run by lovely and helpful personnel who also work at the cafe (which is also excellent!). Also recommended is to spend some time outside the museum in the little square, which I believe was also the site of the deportations. There is a board with short cartoon stories about certain people you will read about at the museum. The story about Franciszka Henryka was simply devastating and the way it was presented in the cartoon was so, so sad. (I was informed by one of the employees at the cafe that there is only one 'stumbling stone' in Oswiecim, and it is to commemorate the tragically short life of Franciszka.) May that young child rest in eternal peace now that she has finally been reunited with her parents.

We had a very peaceful and pleasant time exploring the small but informative Jewish museum. After the 1000s at Auschwitz, this was very peaceful and reflective. In fact we were the only ones there. Highly recommended to have another view.

This museum was an absolute delight to visit. What really stood out, was the staff—friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about their work. They made the experience even more enjoyable with their helpful insights and warm hospitality. The exhibit left a mark on me with its images or Jewish heritage and struggle and you could see through the organization this museum is passionate in educating its visitors. I definitely wish to return

A must-visit when in Oświęcim or Auschwitz. The staff – likely volunteers – are kind, helpful, and well-informed about the museum and its history. What makes this place especially moving are the personal stories connected to the photos and artifacts. It's not just history – it's human tragedy, respectfully presented. The museum’s free app, Oshpitzin, is excellent. You can download it from Google Play or the Apple App Store. It offers both insights into the Jewish history of Oświęcim and a virtual city tour. Everything is thoughtfully curated – simple, but powerful. Highly recommended: visit the museum and use the app, whether before, during, or after your stay.

As someone whose grandfather was born in Oswiecim, I thought they did a really great job in preserving this community’s memory and honoring it. I’d recommend, if you can, to ask for the keys to the cemetery and go visit there as well, also a very powerful experience

I visited the museum and synagogue of Oświęcim right after visiting Auschwitz. I received a guided tour by a museum employee name Lily who was knowledgable and adorable. Lily walked us through the different exhibitions and helped bring back to life the Oświęcim before WWII. The visit in the museum and synagogue was educating and even uplifting, in a sense that while the residents of Oświęcim may be gone, the Jews and the people of Israel and the spirit is still alive. Am Israel Chai!
Nitzan L — Google review
Very interesting museum and a lovely tour done by a German Social Volunteer. English, German and Polish tours possible. Visit to the Old Synagogue is also nice and Jewish groups are able to hold a prayer with the old Thora. Beautiful, even though equipped with replicas. Very well worth a visit but don't expect much information on World War II. It's about Jewish life in the city.

A fitting end to a day after visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau, was to visit this small simple carefully curated museum. It is in the Old Synagogue of Oswiecim and it contextualises what was once a thriving Jewish community with artefacts, personal stories and photographs. A wonderful calming visit with a good instruction and welcome from Dr Artur Szyndler, a historian and curator. Delicious bagels in the small cafe helped to provide some sustenance on a long hot and moving evocative day.

Concentration camp memorial site
Museums
The Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau is a former concentration camp in southwest Poland that serves as a site of mass atrocity, Holocaust remembrance, and education. It is a significant tourist attraction and offers guided educational tours to provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the tragic history within its walls. The museum is an important destination for millions of tourists visiting Krakow and stands as a remnant of one of the most horrific regimes in human history.
It's worth going here to get some understanding of the scale and suffering that Jews and others had handed out by the Nazis during their time in power. Walking around the camp just shows what man can do to fellow man. The suffering and death on an industrial scale. The museum does well to preserve the past so we don't forget. There is a lot of walking involved so plan ahead especially if you take a guided tour as they move quickly but do give you lots of information about the camp and the people who went through the gates, many for the last time.
Chris M — Google review
Was a somber experience being in a place of death and torture, especially for my family members who endured this egregiously harsh and inhumane reality during WWII. We were never told to purchase tickets in advance so the museum was booked solid when we drove 3.5 hours from Warsaw to visit. The new Israeli owners, as crazy as it seems, have made it more difficult to gain entry with a walk in. We are able to observe the outskirts which was just as surreal and contained some valuable informative sights to see.
J. C — Google review
Incredibly somber and emotional experience. Seeing the scale of what happened here is overwhelming. We visited on a nice sunny day, but I couldn’t help but feel what the conditions must have felt like for those held within the camp during the harsh polish winters. A must see for anyone to remind us of what happened and try to ensure it can never happen again.
S W — Google review
A huge museum, which is being restored to this day and is still being preserved. Book the tour in advance because you can get alone and for free only after 15:00. We got a very nice girl guide, it was very interesting and pleasant to listen to. We visited both camps, the total tour took about 4 hours. This place is very atmospheric, creepy. It is obligatory for everyone to visit, you need to know and not forget the history so that there are no more such things.
Vjatseslav L — Google review
Probably one of the most badly organised tourist destinations in the world ! Always wanted to visit but was very disappointed, the complete cluster fxxk of the main entry, the inability to secure private tickets in advance via a official site, this resulted in almost 45 min to wait in a outdoor line until we could get to the ticket office and then another 2 hour wait until our time slot to actually get through the gate. I'd gladly pay €5-10 for advance tickets if I could get a guaranteed time to get in when I arrive. Once in there was no real flow or direction of what to see or what order to see it in. The official map was about as much use as sand in a desert, honestly a 5 year old could have drawn a better plan. Inside large tour groups dominated all the various things to see and we were often barged out of the way or unable to pass them while they blocked doors or things to see. My impression of the place has been ruined by visiting it and then when coming out, they don't even have clear signage where to get public transport back or a covered bus stop. The urban planner / architect who designed the new entrance and coach part obviously never tried visiting as a tourist.
Brenden B — Google review
This is a very sad experience. But I do recommend everyone to visit once in a lifetime. I learnt about it in a history lesson, but seeing it for real was just something else. The scale of it is just mad. There was 2 camps, second camp had more than 300 buildings. They were killing almost 5k people a day, in a gas chamber they fit 700 people at a time 😮 Its just crazy to see all the shoes of people who died there. And crazy to see the gas chamber. We all need to see the scale of it and learn from it so the history wont repeat itself... In the second camp, last building we entered was the barrack of ill women, it was called the death barrack, all of them were ill or unable to work, they were getting no food or water and if the barrack was full they were made to stay outside in a yard and wait to be taken to the gas chamber. Most of them died there in a barrack. It's so cruel. The free car park not in use. All car parks around is approx 30zloty. There is massive queue to get it, takes forever due to amount of people visiting. To get in need to go thru security like in the airport. Then there is audio tour. Our guide was not great, was hard to hear her as she didnt hold microphone properly. Was way too many people and very long backlog so we skipped quite few barracks. Once we got to second camp by bus our tour guide didnt wait for everyone so we got lost. Not very well organised tbh. After 1pm most days can visit camps without tour guides and it is free. This place would give chills to everyone.

Powerful to say the least! This was part of my bucket list of places to visit and WOW it did not disappoint. Moving does not do this place justice, understanding what the Jews, gypsies and other minorities went through during the Second World War, you can watch as many documentaries as you like but actually walking in their footsteps really does bring it home…..Unforgettable

The most perfect place for a really good gastronomy experience! The staff is so friendly and helpfull, and the exhibition just WOOW. It’s an interactive exhibition, also in english language, and you can ask for an audio guide. The ticket price contains a mug of beer (alcohol or free), what you can taste in the end of the exhibition. After the pub, you can find a museum shop where you can buy memories from this great place!

It is worth the time to visit this beer museum. Some Helpful hints for your visit. 1. Google maps will take you to the center entrance but there is on a couple of places to park. I would go to next parking lot about 50m down the road and park there plus there is another entrance right off that parking lot taking you right to where you pay for tickets. 2. You pay for tickets and you get a alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink included. To your left of where you pay is a place to store your jackets 🧥 and they are a decent size. 3. Don't make the same mistake I did. When you face the storage lockers go left not right. If you go right that takes you to free drink and museum store. 4. This museum is modern and interactive. There are many displays that are interactive. One area has an antique bowling alley which was pretty cool to play. 5. Overall great experience and i put many pics in this review to give you an idea of what to expect.

The museum is part of the International Congress Centre, which also includes the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra's auditorium.
One of my favourite museums to visit. Great selection of art- especially that representative of local vibes. Interesting exhibitions both temporary and permanent . I love the buildings architecture. I already miss the cafeteria and most amazing matcha latte there😋

This is a collection of buildings with a wide variety of exhibits. There are large collections of modern art on display in several of them. In the main building there are some extremely impressive exhibits, taking you through the history of Silesia, it's people and it's culture. There is one building which retains the original steam powered winding wheel, which unfortunately no longer seems to work. The huge shaft winding tower was unfortunately closed for rehabilitation when we visited (August 2025) - it would be a great viewing platform if it was open. A lot of the open spaces were closed of for repairs, but it still a nice area to walk around. Definitely worth a visit for the impressive history exhibits, or if you like modern art.

Very modern museum with a lot of interesting facts about the history of Silesia. The design of the indoor area is pretty cool. Whilest my visit the entry was free, but I think, it was only at this day. Unfortunately you can't visit the exhibition in the area on the outside at the moment.

The Silesian Museum in Katowice is impressive not only for its striking underground architecture but also for its outstanding art collections. The galleries of Polish painting from the 19th and 20th centuries are beautifully curated, showing both classics and modern works. It’s a perfect place for anyone who loves art and history.

We visited on Friday, there was no queue. The lady on reception spoke excellent English. I've never been through metal detectors going into a place like this before. It was very different to what we were expecting. The site is an old mine that has been turned into an art house. There is a section of the site dedicated to the first and second world wars. The gallery spaces are large and the art fits in the spaces comfortably. There is a small shop on site with the usual range of souvenirs and snacks.

We visited Pałac w Pszczynie as a family group (2 adults, 1 senior, and 4 children) and had a lovely time exploring this beautiful historic site. You can purchase tickets at the gate close to the main Square of the city or inside the castle there is a ticket machine too. A nice lady in the office offered us the best price for us with discounts for big family card holders and for seniors etc. The palace itself is truly impressive – well-preserved interiors, rich in history and beautifully furnished. Walking through the elegant rooms felt like stepping back in time. We admired the grand staircase, chandeliers, and antique furniture. There are informative signs in each room, although younger kids might benefit from a interactive exhibit to keep them interested longer. The palace is surrounded by a lovely park, perfect for a relaxing walk or picnic after touring the interiors. Overall rating: 5/5 stars – a must-see attraction in Pszczyna.

Pszczyna Castle is the most prominent noble residence in Silesia. Today, the castle serves as a museum and has served as the residence of Polish and German nobles for centuries. Admission to the museum is free on Tuesdays, so there may be a queue at the door. The museum displays personal belongings of the German noble family that was the last owner of the castle. It took us 40 minutes to tour the museum.

Really posh and nicely decorated palace! It has several floors, and there is an elevator for people with special needs, but not everywhere. The are extra expos inside for extra pay too (like weapons or paintings). It will take at least 1 hour or 2 to visit! There is lots of authentic furniture and decor items. All in all it's worth taking time to explore it inside! And outside there is a large palace park to visit (it's free). There's no parking by the palace, just use some of the city parking spots.

Guido Mine and Coal Mining Museum

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Tours with ex-miners of 19th-century coal mine tunnels, plus museum & subterranean concert chambers.
Super experience and we had a fantastic guide in English who could tell us everything we wanted to know. Guido is an experimental mine and that allows visitors to see some cool machines and techniques from up-close. Also drinking a beer in the deepest bar in the world is a must-do experience. Would absolutely like to visit again!
Jeroen O — Google review
If you ask me to name the most interesting museum (and believe me, I have visited many), then the Guido mine is still far ahead.⚒️ Let's start from the beginning, the mine itself stopped mining relatively recently, so the entire environment is as authentic as possible! Next, where else can you go down 300 meters underground?! The guides tell you about the history of coal mining with interest, so you will definitely not be bored. The lack of interactivity is more than compensated for by the uniqueness of the place, a ride on a mine train, the deepest bar🍺 in Europe with delicious beer, and for the most extreme, the opportunity to feel like a miner and try to mine coal with your own hands. I could go on and on, but why bother - just buy a ticket and visit this place. Or better yet, visit the adit and go rafting on the underground river. I do not regret a single penny spent!

One of the deepest mines in Europe. Inside, the tour guide explains very interestingly, so you don't know how the tour is going. The mining museum presents very interesting information about both past and modern copper mining. Also, at the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to have a drink in the underground coffee shop.

🚨THE BOAT-TOUR DOES NOT START HERE. The starting point of the BOAT-TOUR is a different location with 25 mins away on foot. ✅ 2hours walking tour in coal mines in English or German. The tour guide was clearly explained. ✅ The real operations of grinding machine can be seen on-site. ✅ Enjoying riding on the electric powered mine-cart for short minutes. ✅ You'll learn and use mining workers ' greeting. "Szczęśc Boże! (God bless you)". ✅ Toilets and pubs are placed at the end of the touring place. ❌ The receptionist guided wrongly for waiting place for the boat tour even though I arrived one-hour before the tour started. I was told by the receptionist," if any claims, send an email on the website."

Forest Park of Surprises

Amusement park
Nature & Parks
The Forest Park of Surprises in Ustron is a captivating open-air zoo where visitors can encounter roaming deer, bison, and various species of wild animals. The park offers raptor and owl shows that are both breathtaking and educational. Families often gather here to spend quality time together, enjoying the scenic views and interacting with the wildlife. Visitors can also explore numerous attractions while communing with the animals of Polish forests.
.....really nice place and worth to visit! Almost all animals are free and you can touch them easily. Some attractions for children and tasty refreshments available....
Karel L — Google review
Lovely little animal park. It sort of comes as a surprise to find an alpaca walking on the road alongside you. GREAT collection of owls but their enclosures are small enough to make you kind of go "Oh, poor thing." But the falconer show is well worth the visit! Those guys are good, even though they couldn't get the eagle out for the kids this time. So it goes. Big playground but some bits are paid and the carnies there are a little slimy, but they give the kids lots of time on the trampoline. The restaurant up top is very Polish in that they have a lovely large menu posted outside that you spend twenty minutes staring at and deciding then go in and they say "We have two things, everything else no." Seems to be a theme around these parts. But the řizek was good and the fries were really good. My wife also praised the coffee from the stand at the playground for actually serving a decent-sized coffee. You won't need the whole day here, but it is a nice way to spend a morning and lunch, especially if you have kids.
Tom H — Google review
Great experience with my family even on a rainy day. The birds of pray show was breathtaking and the beautiful forrest animals we saw were already worth the ticket price. Additionally, the stuffed animal and antlers display was very informative and you can touch. Did not expect to see the racoons. :-) Other than that the carousels were dismantled in winter and the fairytale display a bit dated, but it gave us a laugh. We used up the whole bag of the feed purchased at the gate feeding some hungry deers. Warning: To get there you have to hike up along unpaved road, or find a parking spot, which due to the building site works are limited. Pro tip: Hotel Diament two streets below is a delicious gourmet spot for lunch/dinner afterwards.
Paula L — Google review
Great place to spend a few hours, at a relatively reasonable price. Food was tasty at the cafe at the top. The deers were very friendly and lovely to feed and stroke. The bird show was decent. Plenty of free parking available.
Matthew B — Google review
Nice cheap day out for the family, two flying displays, owls and other birds of prey. Lots of animals running wild in the park, goats, deer and alpacas. A small amusement park in the summer with games for the kids and places to. Bar and hot food served at the top of the park all year around. Good wholesome day out feeding the goats and donkey.
Craig M — Google review
There are a few animals, mostly owls and birds of prey in cages. You can touch and feed sikas and llamas if they are not overfed by crowds of people. If you have a stroller with little wheels, you are screwed as there are mostly gravel paths. In the centre there is a little amusement park for kids. For 12 euros/person you get very little. If you want to see a lot of animals in better conditions, make a trip to the Ostrava zoo which is a proper zoo for roughly half price.
David S — Google review
We visited Leśny Park Niespodzianek a few days ago on a sunny day. The park was busy but not overcrowded. Unfortunately, the visit was very sad for me. Almost all of the animals looked bored and apathetic. The deer and alpacas roam freely and you can buy feed at the entrance, but it is a waste of money as the animals showed no interest at all. The enclosures in general are poorly designed and lack care. The worst were the wildcats: tiny, dirty cages, full of cobwebs, with no enrichment or places to hide. They were lying curled up on the bare ground. I have visited many wildlife parks in Germany, but I have never seen such poor conditions there. The raccoons were in a similar situation, kept in a small cage with no shelter and nothing to play with. I also felt very sorry for the beautiful birds of prey, kept in enclosures far too small for such large, majestic animals. In my opinion, the so-called Fairy Tale Alley with loud music does not belong in a place where wild animals live, since the noise must cause them additional stress. Our 3-year-old child enjoyed the playground, especially the large ball pit and the diggers. However, the alpacas have their food and water right in the middle of the playground and are constantly bothered by people. I even saw them being touched or hit by the swings while people were playing. The park is hardly accessible with a stroller, which was fine for us as we did not have one. The ticket price is far too high for just a few hours, especially when you see the poor condition of the animals. Conclusion: A place with huge potential that, sadly, is not being used. As long as the animals are kept in such conditions, I cannot and will not recommend this park.
Julia K — Google review
a great place to spend time with your loved ones. the possibility of communing with animals of our Polish forests. animals have already become accustomed to visitors and, above all, to children. the part with birds and the show of flying predators deserve attention. for PLN 32 per person, you can spend a nice day. When choosing a place, remember a few important things: good, comfortable shoes, because walking is a lot steep and rocky. if you are going with small children do not take the pram. downside is the waiting time at the checkout. the owner should take care of more bandwidth. I highly recommend this place.

The area surrounding the mountain features a spa resort nestled among forested peaks, providing a moderately stimulating climate and therapeutic elements such as natural mineral waters and mud.
Great place with watch tower on the top and restaurants promising good Czech draftbeer and Polish grill and sausages. All of it is sourrounded by a forest and a great landscape. I am always happy to be here on Czech-Polish "state border" which is rather a tourist attraction then a barrier between this two geatful people.

Palmiarnia Miejska w Gliwicach is a botanical garden that features displays of flora and fauna from the 19th century, as well as tropical palm houses and art exhibits. The garden is compact and well-designed, providing visitors with a joyous experience of walking, watching, and breathing in nature. Despite the limitations due to Covid-19, it remains a beautiful place worth visiting for approximately an hour.
Very friendly fish, but they were a little bit surprised by our presence. Plants 🪴 were nice too but a little less friendly than fish 🐟
Dominik W — Google review
Okay, so we just expected "some palms in a glasshouse" and in fact, that is what it was... But, the flora here is really impressive, the place is wonderfully taken care of, the added fauna adds wonderfully to the entire experience (especially the aquarium section at the end) and all this at a very fair price. Some more info boards would've made this a bit more educationally valuable, but already as it is, it's a lovely nature-exploring experience.
Markus V — Google review
Not very large, however a pleasant place with (not only) old palms, tropical flora and a few aquariums (piranhas included). Very reasonable price (20 zl adult).

This is a truly incredible destination! The atmosphere is vibrant and unique, offering more than just a beautiful botanical display—it's a living ecosystem where you can discover both plants and animals. It's a fantastic and engaging place for families. Kids will love the "explorer" program: pick up a passport at the entrance, collect stamps during your visit, and get promoted to an official explorer!
Iskandar — Google review
Awesome place to visit during winter. Temperature of this place has been well maintained to help plants and animals live in harsh cold of Poland. I would recommend this place to plants and aquarium lovers. There are smallest to largest fishes. I would love to visit again as there are plants which grows in only certain temperature and climate. Well maintained but should have been well exhibited as the details or name of the species is in polish and would be difficult for a foreigner to understand.

An amazing dinopark where entertainment meets archeology & science. Perfect for adults and children. What I liked: - huge car park right next to the entrance - nicely landscaped area - dinosaur replicas from all eras, sizes and types - university display of local dinofinds - possibility to rent a transportation contraption for children (and storing your stuff) - lots of toilets and rest areas - multitude of playgrounds - a lake with a real beach - a really good dino-themed 5D cinema - well-stocked souvenir shops

It's amazing! Great place for kids and adults. All attractions are included in the ticket. Kids will have fun all day long
Stefano C — Google review
It wasn't really what my kids were expecting. My 11 year old wanted to ride more dinosaurs. My 8 year old wanted to interact with the dinos and not just look at them. The rides weren't even dinosaur themed. Food was ok. We ate outside where wasps were pretty much swarming us half the time. The 4d attractions were neat, not too much for those of us who tend to get queasy. We were there for the night on a Sunday, and once the park closed, we had a hard time finding a place to eat. Only a pizza place was open past 8, and the wait for delivery was an hour and a half at that point. Our over night accommodations were in the human evolution building. The common areas were very dark, and the entire decor was futuristic, blocky and uninviting. We stayed in the bronchiasaurus room, which housed 16 bunk beds and a private rest room with 2 each: sons, toilets, showers. There was a hair dryer and body wash/shampoo in the showers. Towels were provided. The windows all had screens to keep bugs out, which is rare here. The staff were accommodating with breakfast. We had to be on the road before their normal breakfast time started, so they prepared us sandwiches and packed them in a large bag and stored them for us in the common area kitchenette. A unique feature was the active dig site and being able to see authentic fossils. We did manage to get lost trying to find the dinos as we didn't expect the huge play ground and all the rides. There's also a beach on a lake. Lots of activities available. My kids enjoyed the giant trampoline. There's also an upside down house diagonal from the human evolution building you can go into for a little extra (36 pln for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids). We didn't use it, but there's ample camp grounds as well.

A great fun place for all the family. Lots to do for any age.. The food is petty decent too. There is a great variety of fun, with enough space to accommodate everything. Interesting interactive surprises. A very clever way to do it right. Been a number of times and always enjoy it. Downside is not enough staff, so beverage areas were closed and long queues. You must do the train ride!!

Great activity for the whole family. It took us 4 hours to visit and we didn’t really see 100% plus we were moving fast. . Get the ticket ahead online so you don’t have to wait in line (and it can get pretty long). . There is a nice playground for kids, Ice cream stands and restaurants inside. This zoo is beautiful and big. There is English posting for names and much information in Polish that can be translated with Lens. The ice cream was delicious and very clean place. We spent over two hours and could have spent even more time there. I think we walked nearly 10km during the visit. It is one of my favorites
Joe S — Google review
Even better zoo than I imagined. You can see the animals really close. It's really modern, clean, and has beautiful waterfalls and an overall vibe. We went on a rainy day, so there were almost no other visitors besides me and my girlfriend, which made it feel like a private tour. We were there for at least 2.5 hours and still didn't see everything that the zoo had to offer.
Koli H — Google review
Really good experience, can’t complain really! Though it was sometimes hard to view the animals as the cage was very large compared to the number of animals with an outdoor and indoor section. Apart from that wear some good shoes as you’ll be walking for ages.

Buchlov Castle

Temporarily Closed
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Buchlov Castle, one of the most massive Czech castles, is situated on a hill with the same name. The heavily fortified hilltop castle offers stunning views of the Chriby (Mars Mountains) from its observation tower. The castle houses a museum with artifacts from the area's history and offers several tours for visitors to explore its grounds and learn about its rich heritage. While there are ongoing renovations and limited amenities such as a gift shop, the informative guides make the visit worthwhile.
Nice castle, quite well known within the Czech Republic. They have several tours and even with kids of the age of 3 years you'll enjoy trip. Overall there are 3 main tours and then some more (but not so often) if I am not mistaken, there is one tour per 10-15 minutes. You don't need to buy tickets in advance. Maybe just for weekends when there will be more people coming, but when I went there on mid august, there was still approximately 10 places left for each tour. For English speakers, some tours will give you an English text so that's quite nice to have. As for a pictures, our guide told us that we can take them, but we cannot use flashlight (even tho the sign right below stairs says no pictures at all). The guide we had knew really a lot, and was able to answer all questions we gave her. As a bonus, there is a restaurant inside the castle. Not very big choice of food, but when you're hungry, you'll eat anything.

A beautiful castle with amazing view from up , we went walking from Smraďavka and the way was interesting , it took around an hour and half , the only thing which made us upset that it's not allow to take ur pet with u inside
Abdi A — Google review
It's a beautiful tower but if you are with small kids you will not be allowed to go inside the castle as it's possible to do only with a guide in a group and kids can disturb people around. The area "outside" the castle is free to visit. It's really small but you will find a lot of corners for good photo shoot. Near the castle is a place for parking (free) and cafe with simple food. There you can pay ONLY with CASH!!! So take enough of cash money. The road from parking to castle is easy, so you can go there with kids for sure.

It was an amazing place to visit and the views from the lookout were just plain WOW! The guide was very informative and when they heard me speaking English, a person came to me and handed me a booklet in English. I was able to follow along with what was being said. The Castle is out of the way, but so worth visiting. I can't give it a full 5 stars because there are renovations underway and there was no gift shop or place to buy things. Definitely a place to return to.

Built in 1912, this memorial to victims of the Battle of Austerlitz houses a museum, cafe & chapel.
It is located at the tip of the Pratzberg. The monument is impressive, but the museum adjacent to it is even cooler. The museum is not large but has an impressive array of artifacts and does a very good job of explaining the battle of Austerlitz in easy to understand terms.

Disappointing: museum is miserable with some informations here and there. 1 rifle, 1 sword and you have it all... Great history here. It was quite a detour for only a 60 mins visit, but worth it. I do recommend studying upfront what happened here to have a good understanding, else you might be disappointed. The museum is very simple, but had friendly staff, a small restaurant and doesn't cost much.

The castle itself is closed during winter months, including the information center. The gardens are still open and for free from certain hour until certain hour. I recommend to check everything in advance, if it's important for you to see this UNESCO heritage castle. It seems that some public events are organized at the castle's buildings. the castle is wonderful! one of the most beautiful in the Czech Republic, it is definitely worth a detour to see it and the town is really pretty too. our experience was very positive. the staff is all extremely welcoming! when we arrived a very kind gardener gave us some advice and took a photo. at the ticket office the very kind boy suggested we wait for the next turn for the guide, because even though it was in Czech the guide spoke Italian, excellent advice! from a person who is very interested in doing his job well. while waiting for the tour we stopped at the bar where a young and very kind girl served us excellent products, and then the tour... wonderful! and the guide gave us a lot of information in Italian, special!!! thanks for everything

The castle contains an armory museum with well-maintained collections from the middle ages. Guided tours are required to visit the castle, but visitors should be prepared for some stair-climbing. Additionally, there is a birds-of-prey venue on site that hosts shows twice daily.
Definetely worth visiting if you have plans to visit Vienna.Very old medevial castle with the renovation from 20.th century. You can visit inside with the tour guide only so you need to check time schedules.Very beautiful armoury inside.

Very beautiful castle with a very unique and interesting history. Sadly taking pictures inside is not permitted. The quality of the tour depends quite a lot on the guide you get. The hourly tour has to be purchased for 15€ in cash per person in order to enter the castle. Student discounts are not available.

What a stunning and fascinating castle! We loved the tour (it was both in English and German) and the guide was amazing! The castle itself is beautiful and you can walk all around it from the outside which is fun with kids as there is a perfect path through the bushes / trees. No photos are allowed inside the actual castle but you can take photos of the outdoor area / garden area. They also offer an eagle show which you have to pay extra for and is right next door to the castle. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Nice historic castle. It's worth visiting. However, there's not much to do there. Great for archeology, history and nature enthusiasts. Take food and drink with you. Athough there's a big enough bar up there, it can get too crowded sometimes.

It is amazing, I caught the last tour with a small group, the staff is very kind, and the story of the castle is very interesting.

You have to walk around with local guide. If you don't speak German, please ask for the translation paper. Walking around takes about 30-40mins. We got there at 11:30 and not realise that they won't open for the next slot until 12pm. The gate was closed and the restaurant outside was closed on Monday! Recommend you to call to check before attending.

Valdštejn Castle

Sights & Landmarks
Valdštejn Castle, established in 1260, is a clifftop fortress with medieval ruins, courtyards, and a chapel. The surrounding area offers a small friendly pub at Bukovina Arboretum serving hearty lunches and cheap beers. Hruba Skala Castle nearby also functions as a hotel with shops and cafes. Visitors can enjoy a worthwhile hiking experience through the forest to reach the castle while admiring the beautiful landscape.
Amazing, beautiful, really worth to visit! In my opinion one of the best if not the best in Czeski Raj. There is also a wonderful path in between Valdštejn and Hrubá Skála that is really worth to do.

Nested in beautiful forest surrounded by rocks the castle is small yet treat to eye. There are several ways to reach. Best way is to follow the red trail where on the way a watch tower on rock crosses path. That trail is 3km from the trail head and not so difficult having best views inside the forest. The other way is quite shorter 2.5 km green trail but you will not see the watch tower on the way and it is mostly on a vehicle road which is not that interesting on summertime. The castle has small caffe inside and a mid sized restaurant outside serving soup fries tea coffee and food. Outside area is free to do more walk and cycling. Beautiful day out with kids.

Small, but beautiful castle located on top of the mountain. Easy access (10 minutes walking from the nearest parking, moderate elevation). There was a medieval show when we visited, apparently based on the Czech or region history - in Czech language. Grill and cafeteria at the castle only accept cache. Souvenirs store accepts cards.

The castle is very nice, some part much older than others, we didn’t take the tour and therefore couldn’t get into some rooms but it was still very nice!

Lovely castle! I can highly recommend the guided tour because you'll see places you're not normally allowed to go. Very friendly staff as well! And make sure to tip your tourguide for a job well done!

The new exhibition of the costumes for famous Czech fairytales is great. The young girl that was hosting the tour was fantastic, happy informative and entertaining for the small kids we were with. Definitely worth a visit

DO NOT LISTEN TO GOOGLE MAPS it claims you can drive to the castle and you CANNOT! it is merely a service road for the places up top and for hiking only. I ended up driving on the trail and looked like a complete A-hole, I’m surprised there is not a barricade at the trailhead to prevent clueless idiots like me from doing what I did. I’ve never been more embarrassed and felt like an idiotic tourist than this. The view and the castle are worth it though just learn from my mistake and don’t put so much stock in google maps

It's a very nice place to visit. The disappointing thing though (that is not specified and worth at least being mentioned) - the tickets are for guided (in Czech) and non-guided visits. The price for a visit without a guide (Vstupné bez průvodce ) - 90,- Kč for an adult. We did not speak Czech, so did not have reasons to join the guided groups (though difference was really minor, less than 1Eur - Vstupné s průvodcem plné 110,- Kč) 5 minutes later we found 2 sets of exhibitions (2 floors out of 4 available) were allowed for visiting by JUST guided groups. The guide we met explained "it's true and may be "unfair", but they still have a room for improvements". So, if you have plans to visit all available exhibitions of the castle, buy the ticket with a guidance in czech language. Also, enjoy the views)

The castle is nice, and the exhibits are very accessible, but not more to mention. There is no English tour, which makes it a bit boring for non Czech speakers. The gardens are charming, and kids can spend a few hours easily running in and between the labyrinths.

The staff for the first few days were absolutely amazing. The children's room had a few hazards, which inevitably led to a girl splitting her head open on a table that didn't have the plastic covering on a metal end, some tables had the plastic while others didn't. The toy box had nails sticking out. When the girl split her head, they removed the hazards upon my wife's request. I was in the room playing with the kids when this happened. The staff, who hadn't been there yet this week, were unprofessional. Saying things like "if you have a personal problem you should go home" or "If they would've watched their kids this wouldn't have happened" A simple apology would've sufficed, but they tried to save face instead. They have since decided to close the children's area instead of making it safer. Before this with the staff previously, it was the best hotel service I'd experienced. The cleaning ladies, the kitchen ladies and people at the front were absolute angels to my children, prior to this. It seems to me it was upper management who were the rude ones. Regardless, due to regulations in Czech Republic, anything labeled as a children's area should be free of hazards and should be frequently inspected by staff. I had planned to come back next year and rent out a better room, but unless there is some type of apology, I will not be returning. This would've been a five start review before this experience. I hope they find some way to rectify this experience, I'd love to give them the opportunity to apologize and compensate for their rudeness. If they do act professional, I definately would change my review. As of now, I won't be returning annually as I had planned.

It was such a great experience. We took "Christmas tree tour". It was entertaining, knowledgeable, great decorations in the rooms, the tour guide was to the point. Only one thing I would change is the number of guest in one tour, I would make a smaller group. The manor house is beautiful plus it has huge park with attractions for kids and adults. We will definitely come back.

Great place for families with children, they will enjoy themselves a lot. Many people today, cause it is czech national holiday. Restaurant is not so good, not so many choices and prices are little bit higher, but in limits :-)..

Great place to visit , though a bit expensive in season. The multiple labyrinths located around the château gardens keep kids occupied for a few hours. The inside of the château is also very nice and the Vtipna kase Cafe is cozy and has great food. In the winter, though, some of the labyrinths are not accessible.
