Its a great idyllic area beside the big park in our town and perfect for a place to relax and enjoy some historical buildings in a cozy athmosphere, both for tourists and locals in all ages. There is just one thing missing and that is...longer opening hours during the summer! Its way too early to close everything at 5pm in such a lovely place during high season when people are enjoying summer nights.
Johan — Google review
Gentle fun for the kids, with historical buildings to look around. Nice ice cream shop, cafe and a shop selling lots of things for kids, crystals Harry Potter stuff, some homeware. There’s a big park next to this place, with playgrounds and a water splash playground that’s free to use. Big hit in the summer! Easy parking nearby. A fun and not very demanding afternoon for the kids.
Steve C — Google review
We were out for a walk and happened to find the market that day. The atmosphere was perfect, with lots of delicious food. Although I can’t really judge Wadköping without the market, since we were so lucky to be there that day, I must say it was a very pleasant surprise. Still, the place itself is very beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

Lovely area with historical buildings, museums, shops and cafes. Would really recommend to stop by the Hjalmar Bergman museum to put a bit of context to the area. Besides that, great space to wonder around and enjoy the sights the different experiences it offers.

Everything was delicious 😋 I couldn't decide what is better: chicken, stroganoff, vegan or fish - all brilliant, and the buffet is only 165 kr! I highly recommend this place!

I stopped just for a quick lunch in Örebro and the castle and the surroundings of the city was a great surprise. Stunning place. It was worth exploring and walking around. Louis of cool dining places, cafes, bars, restaurants around. Castle function more like arts exhibition.

700 years old Castle itself on the river, which is perfect for day trip or discovery beautiful cafe down there! We didn’t have time visit inside but, there’s something going on these summer days, if you check programme on their website 👍
Altansuvd A — Google review
The castle is beautiful and I like the surrounding small islands. Exhibition wise its not the best but not bad either, I think its nice that there is information about the castle’s history with some fun facts. We saw the witch exhibition as well which was very well done even tho it was not always based on facts. It had a nice atmosphere!
Réka B — Google review
Örebro castle is very good in outside view. It was really nice from outside. But once you entered to the inside, literally there is nothing to see. They had only few mini models of city, castle which has covered with glasses. Other than that a drawing area for kids and stories of witches who has been in history and was doing black magic. All stories were interested to read but they are stories which no one has proof of anything. I don't think this place deserves more stars as it only good from outside only⭐. But still good place for someone who interests with these witches related stories.
Dmm B — Google review
We enjoyed our visit to Orebro Castle. It was much better than we expected. Of course there is plenty of history on the castle and Orebro. But they also had a very well done witches exhibit. The dungeon was very cool. But be prepared for stairs. Swedish and English are both used throughout the castle.
Brian K — Google review
A night to remember for my husband and I. Thank you Candlelight! ✨ Recommend to take stage A, much better view. Will do that next time we’ll book. 🌸

Dear San Franciscan, Welcome to Sweden. This is one of the drop off and pick up site for us when we are in Örebro. This is a small castle. We arrived around 5pm and must leave by 7pm. So, we only utilized this town to get dinner nearby. We went inside the castle, but it was closed and there was not lots to observe. I noticed there’s an increase of smokers in this town.

Water & Amusement Parks
Gustavsvik Resorts AB is a popular water park located in Orebro, Sweden, offering a wide range of thrilling rides and attractions for visitors of all ages. The city of Orebro itself is known for its rich history, cultural sites, and natural beauty, including the iconic Orebro Castle dating back to the 13th century. In addition to the castle, tourists can explore other attractions such as the expansive Wadkoping open-air museum showcasing traditional Swedish architecture.
This place was the most fun. It had at least six different water rides and each one was fun. Watch out for the hurricane, protect your head and you'll enjoy it a lot more. And also on the yellow and blue striped slide, river run. Try it out first in a single person tube, you have more control that way. Than if you're feeling more adventurous, try it two people. My daughter and I had the most fun there today and the aesthetic is just awesome.
Kathy J — Google review
Nice place to relax near by stockholm if you want to have good time with family and friends. Place has got basic amenities that any camping site would have. It has pool areas that are covered in accommodation packages. The attraction lost city has separate entry ticket. A one night, two day stay seems quite adequate to experience a change from my busy schedule.
Karan M — Google review
Really fun and nice, after lunch it was long queues to all the slides and quite crowded in the river, this was during the high season. Being able to checkout from the parking and money on the wrist band is more of a limit since you only pay for what you use, very convenient.
Stefan H — Google review
⸻ “The worst experience I’ve ever had was trying the highest slide — it nearly killed me. I hit the back of my head hard inside the slide and genuinely thought I was going to die. When we asked the guards if this was normal, they casually replied, ‘Yes, it happens to a lot of people.’ 😵‍💫 That response shocked me even more. How can something so dangerous be ‘typical’?” Where’s the safety!!!!
Heba H — Google review
I was negatively surprised by the safety of this water park. There is no staff to look for the rides - there are just time-based lamps. If someone is stuck inside, tge next person will crash into you. It happened to me twice during one visit!! I was riding the snake and the yellow ride and I just stopped on the flat parts. I tried quickly to push myself to go forward, but too late - the next person crashed into me. Luckily without any serious injuries, becauae the yellow ride is quite slow (altough it was an adult man who hit me legs straight), and on the snake I was lucky - he managed to kind of swing when meeting me and did not hit me so much. At the hurricane I experienced the same as in other reviews - snapping my neck at the bottom part. Then the Lost City part - I really did not understand what it was. It has rounded PAINTED CONCRETE walls. The flow takes you towards the wall, where you have the choice to hit your foot and ankle or scratch your side, because the paint is chipped in some places and in general is not the smoothest, besides the fact that it's solid concrete ?? I got some bruises trying to get down. The three top rides are fine, besides the fact that at one of them the signal lamp did not work and it said just wait 30 seconds. How would a person who just arrived know when did 30 seconds start? The areas around the pools have some stone blocks (again concrete) scattered around with sharp angles, I was genuinely scared for the kids running around. I was really surprised and I couldn't imagine such a park in Sweden. I was not too much disappointed because the price was cheap (~195sek per person on Sunday) and I did not suffer too much damage.
Ekaterina — Google review
Great activity for winter Mire suits for older kids than kids around 1-3 years old. Clean, organised, and helpful staff. I would recommend it. At least one-time visit is worth it.

(Translated by Google) We came here to this very lovingly designed museum on a Saturday. The museum was actually already closed. The nice gentleman who takes care of this tunnel/museum took us on a private tour. He was very, very friendly and let us explore the museum with him. A really great trip, especially for the children (he provided them with juice and two rocks each from the tunnel). (Translated by Google) Very pleasant excursion for adults and children for a couple of hours. The mine was in use until 2004 and is now a local museum with old and newer mining machines, an old mining train that you can take a ride on and several buildings to visit. There is good and clear information on most things and plenty of parking options near the entrance. Good and friendly staff who are happy to tell you about the mine and everything around it. There is also a nice café in the area.

(Translated by Google) The mine only got 3 stars for that one because I was unlucky to get there when they had closed for the season, weekdays anyway. Would have probably gotten at least one more star if it had been open. Two if I thought it was good. But I got to see a bit of what was there and there were also information signs, so that's why it still got 3 stars. Because I wasn't completely dissatisfied, because it wasn't a waste of time that I was there.

The feeling of the wingspan of history becomes very palpable. The café next door served very good home-made chocolate pralines, etc. We ate Götlunda ice cream and homemade waffle cones. On some days, food is also served. In addition to walking around the mining environment, you can play boules and visit the beer brewery if they are open.

Nestled in the charming town of Nora, Kvarteret Bryggeriet Nora is a delightful destination that combines history with modern culinary experiences. This former brewery has been beautifully transformed into a vibrant hub featuring an array of small shops and restaurants. The restaurant itself boasts separate areas for dining and bar service, making it perfect for both lunch and dinner outings. On Fridays, guests can enjoy a unique set menu that showcases local flavors—vegetarian options are readily available upon request.
A really nice block of a rebuilt brewery nowadays housing small shops and restaurants. If you can visit during a market weekend it is well worth it.

Best restaurant in Nora. Separate bar and dinner/lunch areas. Open for Friday lunches, where menu is set with no options (they are always happy to provide a vegetarian version if asked for). Old building with beautiful surroundings. There’s a couple of breweries next door worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) Definitely worth a trip if you end up in Bergslagen. You start at the visitor center with parking, playground and coffee (in the train car, not always open). Afterwards you can take a nice tour past the water wheel, ironworks and iron mine. Behind the hut there is a spoil hill with a great view all the way to Nora (also worth a visit). Even apart from the guided tour, you can learn a lot about the history on the circular route from various signs and maps (also information in English). On Saturday around 3 p.m. you can register for a short underground tour. A nice place.

A gorgeous church ⛪️ built in the 17th century, in a Netherlands renaissance style. Financed by the Oxenstierna family 💰 Beary well maintained and cared about. Alfred Nobels Björkborn

Museum
History Museums
We find Björkborn Manor incredibly interesting and charming. The property and the displayed items and furniture are very thoughtfully curated and we did learn a lot.. Impressive highlight - the collection of wonderful carvings on a lot of the furniture. We have visited the museum on a bank holiday and had private english speaKing guide and she was exceptionally kind and knowlegable!
DESISLAVA D — Google review
Awesome experience Mr Nobel stayed here for 3 years his house is converted to a museum and saw his beautiful picture and the story around his life was wonderful to hear. It's located on very beautiful place and besides his companies and his lab. We saw all his inventions and it was amazing. It's a must visit place in karlskoga as this place was very near to his heart. The most iconic thing are the tanks.
Viral S — Google review
Very nice place! but as I got to know from the guide it’s only three summers that Alfred Nobel have been living in the place, so there is no too much to see. My favorite was the lab that he built there, I will try to put som photos.
M.B S — Google review
I expected a lot, but was very dissappointed, especially by the cost. The entrance fee is waaaaay too high for what you get, snd you have to pay extra for the fun part … the experiments. The house is nice, but not very special and the laboratory is ok, but NOT worth the entrance fee.
Tom B — Google review
Very interesting place with many fascinating stories to read about and listen to. The guides speak excellent English and signage is available in English as well as Swedish. The museum is beautifully furnished and the tour is very exciting with many stories about Nobel and his family told about different periods of his life. The laboratory building is also very well presented and has examples of the Nobel prizes and dinnerware out. There’s also a cafe available and a gift shop. Really enjoyed our visit and would recommend to anyone.
Triin M — Google review
The museum was very nice, highly recommend the tour. The guide is very knowledgeable and tells the story very entertaining. We went to the 2 pm English spoken tour 😀 The experiment area at the laboratorium was good fun as well, even for adults 😁
Iris B — Google review
I didn't know much about Alfred Nobel or his family. I didn't realise how his idea for prizes was opposed by all the institutions, and I didn't realise he was so clear about peace.

What one sees today is a beautiful wooden church (Korskyrka), painted traditional red but very different than when it was first established in the late 1500's, post reformation. Brilliant place for all ages. Challenging both mentally and physically on different levels
Steve B — Google review
It was really cool and a lot of fun, i really recommend it for everyone who likes physical activity, escape rooms and adventures. The price is good, the rooms are all different, interesting and fun, some are a really nice challenge. The rooms are designed for groups of three, so keep that in mind, you won't be able to succeed in the rooms with less people
Sofia W — Google review
Very fun for both kids and adults. Something like speedy escape room lite, but also with some requirements of mobility and strength. There's 26 different quests with multiple rooms in each quest. There's climbing through ceilings, floors and crawling through holes in walls.
Tommy L — Google review
It's a fun activity for families and friends alike. The rooms are often more on the calmer side. I however do recommend that you aren't more than 3 people in each team as the rooms are mostly tailored for teams of 3.
Mikael G — Google review
I had a great time and was really impressed that the tasks were actually difficult. I would not suggest taking children under the age of 8. My only suggestion would be to give each room an age rating. I made the mistake of taking a 6 year old and some of the rooms terrified him, while some were absolutely harmless. Thank you for the great time, I will be returning soon.
Curtis S — Google review
I’ve come here for a few years as a teacher with a group of students from both France and Sweden. It is a great team building experience and has both mental and physical challenges. The staff are AWESOME and make it so easy for us as a big group. Julia was very funny and engaging and also spoke perfect English. She even offered us teachers coffee. Tack så mycket!

Fun and challenging for all ages! I admit that I am a bit childish but I do love this place. Lots of fun and weird puzzles to be solved. Veeeery many different rooms, some require brains and some require muscle strength, some agility and some speed. The worst are those that require all 😁. A tip: if you visit during a hot summer day, make sure you drink alot of water and don't mind the smell - wash it off later. It will be hot in there. Very hot indeed. Well worth a visit!

Careful! Wardens ticketing parked vehicles! We only wanted to enjoy the beautiful Channel and some lunch and parked our vehicle across the road from Café Baltzar. Before we managed to pull a ticket from the hidden ticketing machine we found a warden photographing our number plate. This ist how tourists are ripped off? We left Sjötorp immediately and will not pay the undeserved fine. PS: There were many others incl. Swedish citizens who we're also not amused by this hospitality and who also left. Kummelön (naturreservat)

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
National Parks
(Translated by Google) We were there on 16 April 14.00-18.00, a sunny and warm day (13 degrees). We met many cars on the way there, on site we only glimpsed a couple of other hikers. It almost felt like having the entire nature reserve to themselves. We enjoyed the northern trail 1.4 km, and took all the time we needed to stroll, look at birds, have coffee, and just be. (We can take the southern trail 0.4 km next time). It was a wonderful nature experience. We saw wigeons out in the bay, heard the reed drumming and great grebes flying past and massive chirping from the other birds, especially at the end of the northern trail when we took it clockwise. The house finch that wanted to go to the cinema tonight (don't know which movie is on) stayed the closest. The nature was really so calming and the oaks were awe-inspiring. The feeling of standing beneath a huge oak tree 5-6 m in circumference with its strong folded wrinkles cannot be described. And it is so lovely to see nature left alone, what a paradise for plants and animals. Plenty of rest areas. Unfortunately, it is probably difficult to get around for all wheelchair users. Inside the rest house there was a stove and posters on spring birds, animals and plants in the area. We would love to come back here again soon. We can only imagine how wonderful it will be when the white sedges and blue sedges are in full bloom in the greenery. And when the sheep and cows are let out to graze. There were many surprises along the way. We are so happy and grateful for this nature reserve and that the area is protected. Thanks to everyone who takes care of it.

Was busy when we visited. Lots of families at all tables. No social distance. Might have been nicer on a quiet day.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful oak paddocks, well marked trail. Not such a large reserve, you walk leisurely around one part in 30 minutes. Barbecue cabin/wind shelter with firewood in good condition, jetty and barbecue area at the NE end. Not suitable for swimming at the jetty as there are a lot of water lilies and blacks, but it should be very nice when the water lilies are in bloom. (Original) Vackra ekhagar, bra markerad led. Grillstuga/vindskydd m ved i gott skick, brygga o grillplats i NO- änden.

(Translated by Google) Great natural area. Perfect for wandering around and taking a picnic. There are tables on display in several locations across the area. There is also a cabin on the site that you can use to warm yourself and make a fire in, it also said that there is wood. There was a nice mole toilet by the house. Don't forget to take all your junk home and leave things in the same condition as you found them, or better! :) Absolutely incredible and magnificent oaks are in the area, well worth a look!

Very nice house and park with a café and a small museum shop. We had a tour with Klara, who did an amazing job at telling us about Gustav Fröding and the history of the place.

Nice place for lunch with a good view. The food took a little while to come, but it wasn't a terrible wait. Some dishes were quite good; others less so. The pork was well-cooked with a good bearnaise sauce, but had very few vegetables. The prawn salad had stale bread and chewy prawns. The coffee was unlimited, but didn't taste great. There are a couple of small shops selling souvenirs and local products and swings in the front garden.

A very beautiful old home from an important Swedish poem writer one those growing up here. Gustav Fröding. Also a very nice place for people into history and old architecture and old mansion. Very pleasant people working here.If I could I would give this place 6 stars

Interesting place to visit during Midsummer holiday. Traditions are interesting and display tremendous amount of Swedish culture and positive vibe. I hope they keep that with forth comming generations. Beautiful place with great view to the lake, paths that lead through nature will never be forgotten.

We asked for a piece of bread with our salad, but were told there wasn’t any available since we arrived at 14:00, outside of lunch hours 🫣 Otherwise, it’s a beautiful place.

Bridges
Gamla Stenbron, also known as East Bridge, is a picturesque landmark in Karlstad and the longest stone-built bridge in Sweden at 168 meters with 12 arches. It replaced previous wooden crossings that were frequently washed away during spring floods. Construction began in 1761 and took 50 years to complete. The bridge has recently undergone renovations and offers great views of the modern concert hall and old city cemetery. It is now exclusively used by buses, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Though night view is better with all the lights on and under the bridge, I haven't got a chance to visit at night yet.
Tahmim S — Google review
This is one of the landmarks in Karlstad, the old stone bridge, spanning one of the forks of Klarälven (The clear river translated from Swedish, but how it got that name is a mystery, since it's rarely clear,) and an obvious place to visit. The small island downstream from the bridge, formed naturally after the bridge was built, due to the reduced current - the bridge partially blocks the stream. It is a lovely walk along the banks, where you cross the river by this bridge.
Fredrik J — Google review
Probably Karlstad's most photogenic attraction. No traffic except for buses, pedestrians and cycles. This bridge has recently been the subject of extensive, but sympathetic renovation. Good views from both banks of the river and from the bridge of, on one side, the modern concert hall and conference centre (CCC) and on the other the old city cemetery. 10 minutes walk, or 2 minutes bus ride from the city centre.
Christian G — Google review
And it is still in use for buses, bicycles and pedestrians.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Sandgrund Lars Lerin is a riverfront gallery in Karlstad, Sweden, dedicated to the captivating works of contemporary watercolor artist Lars Lerin. Lerin is celebrated for his legendary watercolor and oil paintings, graphic arts, and mesmerizing photographs. The gallery showcases his phenomenal watercolor landscapes as well as other works such as oil paintings, drawings, collages, and photographs from his travels around the world.
I'm not a huge fan of art but visited the gallery whilst on holiday in the area whilst staying with my sister. And what a delight! I was staggered by the artist's hand, such talent and even more special knowing he's a local chap too. I've read some of the other reviews and yes, glass covers so make viewing some pictures slightly awkward because of the glare, and the spot lights do shine a bit annoyingly on others, but neither of these 2 factors spoilt the artist's effect or removed any of the enjoyment of admiring the exhibits. I was, by the end, totally in awe of Mr Lars Lerin. I understand from my sister, that the exhibits change during the course of the year to help keep the gallery interesting for those who like to visit regularly. There was an exhibition space for admire artist, oil paintings, which actually I didn't enjoy so much, because of Lars work being so amazing! I actually thought the gallery space and manner of hanging pictures on the wall with nails added to the experience. Little coffee shop incorporated is a great addition.
Tracey B — Google review
Great art museum if you like Lars Lerin! Free 3hrs parking for motorhomes (just ask for a parking permit when paying the entrence fee, and make sure to park in the right area).
Kajsa L — Google review
Impressive artworks by Lars Lerin, but the museum should be organized a bit better and give some info on what is displayed
Ludovica S — Google review
Love his works! Museum ok, but I wish the pictures could be hung up properly. Some artworks were just stapled directly to a shabby wall.
Line S — Google review
Very nice that Lars Lerin got his own museum, its really interesting to learn more about his life. His paintings are just not my type of art because he mostly uses very dark colours like black, grey or dark blue.
Sarah S — Google review
A lovely surprise. Modern art that I love. It has separated after different topics..and one even for gay people. Loved it very much
Kjell L — Google review
Although the work of Lars Lerin is very prolific and interesting, the Sandgrund gallery/museum is a total disaster in term of exhibiting art pieces. No signage, no information, no curating what so ever. The lighting is extremely bad as it looks like a basic office space, the art pieces aren’t protected, most of the time nailed directly on the wall ( damaging the paper irremediably) or placed in between bad quality glass (which is sometime broken) A ladder or some trash cans seem to be forgotten here and there, and not to talk about the horrible plywood walls where the art pieces are hanged: poorly repainted, some holes, old plaster, tape... I find it crazy to pay an entrance fee for such a poor way of showing art.

Located near the library on Sandgrundsudden, Värmlands Museum is a captivating attraction split between two distinct buildings. The museum's multimedia displays offer an immersive journey through local history and culture from ancient times to the present day, covering topics such as music, the river, forests, and textiles. With over 40,000 well-preserved artifacts and 9,000 artworks on display, visitors can explore the city's rich heritage through photographs and interactive exhibits.
Great small art museum with a permanent collection about life and artists from the region, however during my visit they had a retrospective of Jāzeps Grosvald's fascinating life drawing in the midst of WWII and an excellent exhibit of modern artist Kristina Jansson whose work was stunning.
Brent E — Google review
An ambitious and mainly well-designed museum (with all info in the historical exhibition in both Swedish and English) where a few too many spelling errors, missing props, technical issues, and vandalised signs lessen the visitor's experience. Also far, far too cold in the exhibition halls (historical artifacts may require it I guess, but why in a photo display?). Good taste in exhibition material, though.
Simon L — Google review
They should have had more about Karlstad history, I think the art museum was boring. Lars Lerin is far better
Kjell L — Google review
There are some art work by artists and impressive thing is each artist has his or her own place to show or exhibit what he likes to. Also museum has some clues about how life starts in karlstad.

Nice museum with very different things to see and do (for kids, go to the second floor). Library closed for maintenance (19 aug 2021). Clean toilets. Free lockers. Nice museumshop en good restaurant. Visit will take between 2 and 3 hours. Entry free of charge for people younger then 25 years.

Brigadmuseum, opened in 2013, offers a captivating insight into the Swedish military's history from 1945 to 1991. The museum showcases military hardware such as tanks and artillery while also providing a glimpse into everyday life during significant events like the Vietnam War and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Visitors can explore not only military aspects but also non-military facets, including displays of Fifties-style kitchens, Sixties-style dance halls, and Seventies-style living rooms.
Cool military museum. Learn some new stuff

Short Review for Social Media Post – Brigadmuseum, Karlstad: Surprisingly fun and super interactive museum in Karlstad! Great Cold War exhibits, lots to touch and try, and perfect for both kids and adults. Cool outdoor area with military vehicles to climb on. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby!

It's a great museum with a lot of military things. A lot of the museum is inside but there also are tanks outside. I would definitely recommend this place. Kids can go in for free.
Sandra — Google review
Good military museum, even if there are not many big tanks. This museum explaines the history of the cold war. Its very modern and shows many smaller artefacts of the time and gives good information. There is even a shooting simulator. You can have a drink, coffee and cake or small meal. There are some original army things to buy as souvenir. Outside a few tanks and cannons. Visitor reception very professional, toilets modern and clean. Free parking in front.

A big and beautiful park for all the family. You find animals, playgrounds, a fountain, café, kiosk, and restaurant. There is a beach where you can swim, or you can go for a walk in the woods. Toilettes around the park. In winter you can ice skate! You can even bring your own food and grill it 😁

A big park and plenty of parking spaces (free of charge). Well kept and clean. You can take a small train which takes you around the park. There are few animals and coffee places. You can also enjoy kids theatre, just make sure to check their schedule first. A nice playground to enjoy for kids under age of 9.
