The event commemorates the marriage of George the Rich to Hedwig Jagiellonica in 1475 and includes a parade and various festivities. It's a great opportunity to experience the Middle Ages in the city, with a unique atmosphere that shouldn't be missed. The Zehrplatz is also recommended as part of the overall experience.

Olympia Shopping Center

Shopping
The Olympia-Einkaufszentrum is a large and popular shopping mall in Munich. With over 130 stores, it is one of the largest in Bavaria. It was built for the 1972 Olympic games and has been expanded ever since. In addition to traditional retail stores, the mall features cafes, restaurants, and fast food options.
One of the best shopping place in the beautiful city of Munich, you can found all the luxurious brands and fresh stuff’s on very affordable prices, there is so many outlets there and all are the unique and fabulous, there is lots of space for the parking and very closed to the subway, fully hygienic and friendly peoples, I visited first time and it’s really amazing experience in the city, thanks
Mujtaba K — Google review
Pretty medium size mall with popular stores like HM, CA, New Yorker and many others. Easy reachable by U3 metro. Missing a movie theater.
Emad A — Google review
A very nice shopping center away from the tourist crowds in Munich. Parking is easy, there are plenty of dining options, and its location a bit outside the city center makes it even more enjoyable. We managed to do most of our shopping comfortably here; highly recommended.
Osman G — Google review
Very large shopping mall with a seemingly endless variety of moderately priced stores. Very crowded on weekend. Very few seating areas, not many places to take a rest break. Layout rather confusing. Many casual dining options but all packed.
Robert — Google review
Walking in here is like entering a mall in a 3rd world country. You have to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in. Once you do, it's dirty, crowded, and hot. Barely any shops worth seeing here, only the worst ones you can think of. Want to use the restroom? They've got people standing outside begging for change. Never again. Because of the insane toilet situation there are people just changing their kid's diapers on the floor. Why would anyone come shopping here? The management takes no responsibility, saying the toilets are operated by an "outside company". Operate your own toilets! It's the cost of being a mall! In the rest of the world, that's how it works. Surprise! Humans need toilets.
Hl Y — Google review
Very crowded all the time, very old shopping center. Needs a but of modernization because it looks like a mall from the 90s. It is not relaxing at all to go shopping there. You can find average quality eating places. If you are going there with family, there is nothing to entertain the children. A modern shopping center should have a playground, some activities for children. It is a madness to shop with children there.
Dani A — Google review
Well connected to city center with U1 and U3. All shops are good, having many restaurants and amole parking is available.
Subodh S — Google review
Modern mall with 130+ stores—fashion, tech, food, and more. Clean, well-organized, easy access via U-Bahn U1, U3. Great mix of brands and local shops. Ideal for a relaxed shopping day.

The Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg is a sprawling 52-acre complex that features a diverse range of themed gardens, greenhouses, and ponds inhabited by turtles. Visitors can also enjoy the amenities of a cafe and gift shop on the premises. Established in 1914, this botanical garden and arboretum is home to an impressive collection of over 19,000 plant species and subspecies. The garden serves as a vital sanctuary for rare plants and European bee species.
What a great place to spend an afternoon. A lush botanical garden with all sorts of plants, flowers and plant loving critters. While the rose garden wasn’t a main attraction, the greenhouse enclosures were very expansive. Cacti and orchid areas were quite fascinating. The lotus pond was straight out of a painting. Well worth the entry fee!
Tim Y — Google review
Called to the garden on my way to the airport and was delighted I made the trip. It very easy to access by tram. The entrance fee is very reasonable. They are truly stunning, an amazing selection of flowers and plants. It is very peaceful and tranquil place. There is also a lovely restaurant on site. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to enter the glass houses. I would highly recommend these gardens for a visit especially if your a plant lover.
William W — Google review
This place is worth the visit during spring here in Munich. a lot of beautiful tulips similar to the Netherlands. Ticket is reasonable for around €10. they have different gardens including cactus. There are also some animals to be see like fish and turtles. Recommended for kids and adults
Edi — Google review
Stunning place. The variety of plants and flowers is impressive, and for €5.5 for a standard adult ticket this is definitely a steal. The greenhouses are fantastic - packed with all sorts of tropical plants! The only thing I would change is writing more plant descriptions in English. Still, wholeheartedly recommended!
A R — Google review
A stunning garden in the heart of Munich! I visited in summer and my third time and was amazed by the variety of tulips in full bloom — vibrant colors everywhere. The grounds are beautifully maintained, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing walk every time. From glasshouses to shady paths, every corner feels special. A must-visit for nature lovers and anyone looking for a calm escape. 🌸🌿
CHEETI V — Google review
after visiting the palace we walked down to the botanical garden, and wow! absolutely amazing. it's something everyone can appreciate, not just those who love nature and plants. it's an extremely relaxing walk through the outside area, and inside the greenhouse is like a walk through different areas of the world. so many different and unique plants to see, most of which i'd never even heard of! 100% a thing to go and do if you're in munich!!! you can get tickets online or at the gate, it wasn't too busy when we were there and we just bought them on the screen outside the gate!
Lauren B — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised at how large this place was. It felt as big as Chicagos botanical garden. We had some extra time and this was a nice relaxing spot. We went in October so it was not crowded at all. On a sunny day, you could probably spend 2 hours here.

This is an excellent extensive botanical garden you could easily visit here 6 hours. There is also a nice coffee house. We came to see the mushroom 🍄 exhibit

Visitors Park Munich Airport

Visitor center
Tour agency
On our way to check into the Hilton at Munich Airport, we passed by the Visitors Park—and it immediately caught our eye. With its aviation-themed playground, historic aircraft on display, and a striking observation deck, it looked like such a cool spot that we knew we had to come back before our trip ended. We made it just in time to catch the sunset on our last night in Germany, and it was the perfect way to wrap up our trip. From the top of the observation hill, we had an amazing view of the runway and terminal, watching planes take off and land as the sky turned gold and pink. It felt peaceful, exciting, and a little emotional knowing we’d be flying out the next day. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast or just looking for a unique spot to relax and take in the sights, the Visitors Park at Munich Airport is a hidden gem. It’s easy to access, family-friendly, and a great place to soak in those final moments of travel magic.
Bobby B — Google review
A good place to bring kids. Kids would enjoy the outdoor play places of different themes. Get a nice view of the flight's landing and take off. The food and beverages at the restaurant are a bit expensive though.
V G — Google review
What a fun spot for kids! An aviation themed playground with old planes and an overlook (1€ fee per person). Small restaurant, gift store and bathrooms available. You can register for an airport tour, but we don’t have time for that. Free entry and parking for up to an hour.
Tim Y — Google review
What an incredible experience with the team of fellow students from Politecnico Di Milano today visiting Münich Airport! The guide Philipp and the coach driver Alex were incredibly kind and coordinated, as well as very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the visit, seeing MUC Airport in deep, and would do it again without any hesitation!! Thanks Philipp and Alex for your availability and professionalism, I hope to see you again in the future.
Leonardo D — Google review
Really cool place to come watch planes. Several planes are located in the visitors park. They were not open to see much of when I was there, but good photos from the outside. Restaurant to grab a bite to eat. Plenty of areas for kids to play. Great souvenir shop. Well worth the visit to spend a few hours alone or with the family. Amazing hill to climb to watch all the movements at Munich Airport. Great experience.
Michael M — Google review
A huge playground, a pleasant bistro. Possibility to watch planes taking off.
Júlia B — Google review
A must visit place for a airplane enthusiast! Good view of both the runways. One is closer but other is little far but you can enjoy landing and takeoffs from here. There is Kinderspielplatz which is really awesome for kids and also a restaurant. Parking is paid but available in plenty. Must visit
MIHIR S — Google review
The viewing platform costs a euro to get to, on top is some telescopes you can use for more euros.. also parking costs 2 euro per/1h so at leat your visit will cost you 3 euros plus 1e/person. Not too bad as the view is good to the runways, perhaps bring your own binoculars.. Blow is a playground for kids and cafeteria with bathrooms.. code is I,II,III,IV.

Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleissheim is a captivating airfield museum located in Oberschleissheim, showcasing an impressive collection of around 60 aircraft and helicopters housed within historic hangars and expansive glass exhibition halls. This destination is perfect for families, offering children and adults alike the chance to closely admire various flying machines. Visitors can enjoy engaging exhibits, guided tours, and even a flight simulator that adds to the excitement of the experience.
Just about under an hour journey from Munich by public transport. 2 main exhibition halls. A third hall exhibit the restoration of these wonderful birds. The exhibits were well maintained and one of the better aviation museums.
William F — Google review
A great museum on the outskirts of Munich. Highlights include the Horten flying wing—remarkably advanced for the 1940s—and the Dornier DO-31, a 1967 VTOL prototype. The collection is rich in aviation history, airplanes, gliders and helicopters. It could benefit from better curation by timeline and more immersive audiovisual elements, but overall, it’s a treasure trove for aviation enthusiasts.
Donald N — Google review
We visited on Sunday, 9am. Timing was great - only few other visitors, so we were able to explore the museum in peace. The display has many interesting aircrafts, from early days onwards.
Saska Z — Google review
Quality air museum. Enjoyed a weekday visit here which made for no crowds. Well laid out exhibits and a quality selection of aircraft’s for viewing. Would recommend for anyone with interest in aviation. The parking situation was a little strange though
M P — Google review
Amazing museum for aviation enthusiasts. Large open show rooms with glass walls for natural light and tons of unique aircraft. Well curated pieces that offer an up close and personal interaction with some exhibits. A lot of information on pieces give background to what you're looking at and make it interesting for many.
Kristofer R — Google review
Wonderful place for kids. Ample parking space for everyone even on weekends. There is a plane circus that happens 2 times a day which is very interesting for kids
Raghu B — Google review
Its great there is a lot of planes and there are from every era. And as a bonus there is a Antonov expozision till 2026
Antonín P — Google review
Quite an interesting museum! I was positively surprised by what I saw there. A good collection of historical birds, detailing their engines and construction. They have birds from the early days of aviation all the way to fourth gen fighters. Including a full cockpit flight simulator. I didn't have time to check the external area which seems to be quite interesting as well. Will definitely return to check it out!

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Neues Schloss Schleißheim, located in Oberschleissheim, north of Munich, is a stunning German palace complex comprising three palaces: Old Schleissheim Palace, New Schleissheim Palace, and Lustheim Palace. The extensive grounds offer a great family day out with ornamental canals where Venetian gondolas can be found during the summer months. The bier garten is a favorite spot for visitors.
Very big and gorgeous castle. The paintings and decorations are beautiful. The garden is also very big and nice to walk around. Maybe it looks best to visit in the spring, when all flowers are bloomed…but was still nice with leaves. The combined ticket for all three castles costs 10 euros, so it’s recommended to get that one.
Grumpy — Google review
Take at least 3.5 hours time to visit 3 buildings. Beautiful castle atmosphere, working fountains and flowers around making your visit special. Tasty fish in the restaurant and home made lemonade is perfect refreshing between the museums.
Vitalina L — Google review
Probably the most underrated German palace. Schleissheim is well worth the short train trip from Munich city center. The garden are beautiful as well. Make sure to walk along the canal and visit the small palace called Lustheim.
Antoine B — Google review
The architecture itself is quite beautiful but that's where it all ends. Just a stroll on the grounds to view the exterior of all three palaces is enough. Unless you're a fan of paintings and porcelain (which I happen to be), there's really nothing else to see inside the buildings. In the new palace, they charge 6 euro for entry and an additional euro to lock away any knapsacks. My concern is with the workers. The staff inside the new palace did not seem like nice people and they don't make visitors feel comfortable. They will follow you closely to whichever room you go into and watch your every move. As other visitors have pointed out, at around 25 minutes or so before closing time, staff will give you the strong hint to get the hell out of there. Also, like others have pointed out, around 20 minutes before closing time, they start locking the doors to the state rooms inside the new palace. I've been to many museums before and none of them rushed me out like this even when there's 20 minutes left before closing.

I love the mini-Louvre atmosphere from this Residence. Lovely Park to go around on sunny, but also wieder cold days. Get your fresh air in a majestic Park.... for free! Visit the Residence and the Museum that rebuild the 17 Century time.
Annelie C — Google review
Impressive exterior and interior architecture. you can visit the Ground floor and go from the right side to the left through all the rooms and see all the art and different halls. take the stairs ro the 1st floor and you pass by a ballroom then through a gallery of paintings to go from the right side to the left through all the sleepingrooms, office and rest rooms. The 17th architecture is very impressive. every room is explained in english/German with audio to help you. you pass from the old castle to the new through the first magnificent garden and then you can see the biggest one behind the new castle. entrance of combine tickets 10€ is recommended, wardrobe for own stuff is available and clean bathrooms. if you love bavarian architecture and dukes era this is a very recommended place.

Schloss Schleißheim comprises three individual palaces in a grand Baroque park in the village of Oberschleißheim which Is very near from Munich, Easily accessible either by car or by public transport. The grand park is one of the rare preserved baroque gardens in Germany. For a weekend walk I highly recommend this place, it’s not very crowded and you have a huge area to stroll, also very kids friendly.

The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site is a significant historical location near Munich, just an hour away by train. It offers a sobering glimpse into the atrocities of World War II and the Nazi regime. The site features reconstructed cell blocks, photographs, and documents that provide insight into the camp's history. Visitors can join guided tours to learn about the dark chapter in history and pay their respects to the victims.
A must visit for all who wants to know more about the War and a reminder to us living about what the prisoners went through so that we don't allow history like this to repeat itself. The only concentration camp to be functional during the entire 12 years reign of the Nazi party from 1933 to 1945. Also the first concentration camp to be built and was the training and reeducation place of the SS (Nazi army) for all other concentration camps in Europe.
Ronit D — Google review
It feels more like an exhibition than a museum—quite disappointing, to be honest. It should convey the horror of what took place there, but it doesn't. The fact that there are regular houses just behind the fence, where people live, blew my mind. What goes through people's heads to make it okay for them to have a view of a death camp from their window?
Waldemar M — Google review
Was easy to get here from the Central Station Hbf in Munich. Take the S2 train to Bahnhof, Dachau, then take a transfer to 726 bus. Will take you there and back. The visitation center has your free toilette, Cafe with food, drinks, and warm coffee and hot chocolate which was well needed for this cold day. The people at the visitor center was nice and spoke English well. Rental an audio tour guide that was useful, but honestly I enjoyed reading all the materials and posters there. The camp was amazing, and everyone was respectful there. Everyone was speaking low for respect, similar to 911 Memorial Museum in NY.
Roman — Google review
We went with a guided tour with Radius Tours. From Munich, we traveled by train and bus to get to the memorial site. We were with 'German Mark' ...not to be confused with the other Mark 😉 and he provided a lot of insight to the history and development of this memorial site. We came to Munich for Oktoberfest and spent the following morning here. It was sobering, though provoking, impactful, and necessary. You could easily spend the majority of the day here. They do provide self guided audio tours. Someone that we met at our hotel did the audio tour and enjoyed the content. You get a lot of content in the various areas and it's great to see that they are utilizing the space to remember what happened there. It was a very powerful experience.
Emily A — Google review
Absolutely incredibly powerful place to visit. It’s very well presented and managed - combination of extensive museum exhibits with text (multiple languages), artifacts, real life stories, videos, and pictures. Be sure to read as much as possible as you tour. There are memorials and public art throughout the site that represent many different backgrounds of the victims impacted. Careful reconstruction has been done on a few buildings, some original buildings remain, and much of the open ground is there from where original buildings once stood. We spent nearly 4.5 hours there and could have easily spent longer as learned lots. Audio guides in different languages are available.
Dave D — Google review
Worth going and worth checking it out for lots of reasons. It has a canteen for lunch, a book shop, a Carpark. You can follow guided tour by the centre, just head to the reception to join the tour (think is 3 euro per person) when you get there, this can’t be booked online. There are one at 11am and one at 1pm I think (in English). There are also some in German. You can walk into a small gas chamber used for testing poison on people, and see the crematorium used to burn the bodies. Scary but real. All in front of your eyes. And many more scary details. A lesson not to be missed and always be remembered. The visit is free if you don’t follow the tour. You can do the visit using audio guide too.
K Y — Google review
There are no words to describe the emotions you get from visiting this site! It's definitely a must while in Munich. We went as part of a tour, which I highly recommend as you learn so much from the guide! This was a lifetime experience for sure!
Bethzaida C — Google review
We had a short trip to the memorial site. It is impressive although not many of the original elements are left. The space and the prison part gives you that feeling of hopelessness. It is humbling and creates awareness on the horrors man can inflict on others and how much can one indure. We should be grateful that we don't know any of it.

a late baroque masterpiece and a combination of different architects' plans from beginning of 18th century. as you step in you're really gonna be impressed by the amount of details incraved in ceiling, walls and altars. the exterior is green fassade with huge height.

Walking into the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary left me breathless. The altar, icons, and the way light filters through stained glass create a sacred hush that slows time. The faithful who came in and out, the soft incense, the prayers echoing—the whole place feels alive with devotion. It’s not flashy, but there’s power in its simplicity. I left more peaceful than when I arrived. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a moment of quiet reverence.

The Danube Gorge is a stunning region along the Bavarian section of the Danube river characterized by impressive 131-ft. cliffs, and is a popular destination for hiking and boating enthusiasts. It offers splendid views with an array of colors from green trees, blue or dark waters to white grey cliffs, pink or yellow flowers making it a fantastic place to explore. This beautiful location is highly recommended for day trips, boat cruises and outdoor walking amidst peaceful surroundings with relatively low crowds.
Amazing sightseeing, peaceful area. The roundtrip ticket price for the ship was 19.5 euro, but it worth it. During the excursion, they give nice details about the river and places around it in english and german. Just relax order a drink and enjoy the moments.

By boat there is another feeling... you can see directly how much water worked in the past to realise this wonderful National Park. Many colours around, up and down you... so many green trees, blue or darker water, white grey cliffs, pink or yellow flowers... fantastic place!

Liberation Hall

Liberation Hall, also known as Befreiungshalle, is a grand monument situated on Michelsberg hill. It was commissioned by King Ludwig to honor the victories in battles against the French during the Wars of Liberation from 1813 to 1815. Constructed with local limestone, this monumental temple features allegories of Germanic tribes.
On our winter road trip to Berlin, we made a delightful stop in Kelheim! Despite the chilly December day and gentle snowfall, the exterior of the Liberation Hall took our breath away. Its impressive size and beautifully sculptured walls were truly captivating. We have very peaceful moments while admiring the structure. A perfect little gem to explore on the way! ❄️🏛️❤️

This building is inside really huge! Really nice view outside and stunning inside! If you have chance, visit this place! Near parking is great and is ready for any size of car. Nice clean toilets. Nice view from the bistro.
Jarda H — Google review
It's lovely inside, but mainly it is in German. So I could only use Google translate and also read up online to understand it. The walk up to the top of the dome is a very narrow stairs but the view up in the dome is superb. Giving a 4 stars, cos I couldn't understand German.
MJ L — Google review
This place is impressive. It’s a gigantic hall where you feel like a tiny person. The main hall was spectacular and huge. I’ve never seen something this big before. It was a bit scary to feel so little. You can also climb at the top to get a view over the horizons. The climb isn’t easy and the stairs are narrow but it is worth it for the view. The park around the monument is also pleasant to have a walk. It’s quiet and peaceful.
Melanie M — Google review
Wonderful architecture and views from the top. Restaurant next to the ticket office. It wasn't crowded and if you take your own food/drinks you can have a picnic and enjoy the sun.
Daisy A — Google review
A great place to visit, even though it doesn’t feature any special exhibitions or temporary displays. The surrounding area is very attractive. However, we were disappointed to find that both of the shortest walking routes to the Danube River were closed, without any clear reason.

Really cool monument. Typical of mid 19th century early German nationalism. Great views of the Danube.

This place can be a lot of work to get to if you park at the bottom however it felt great making it all the way to the top! Lucky for me the rain held off and was a good hike. Inside the liberation hall which you have to pay to enter just go to the visitor center. But it has some gorgeous views from the top! Definitely a must! Lots of history marked in here.

Nestled along the picturesque Danube Gorge, Weltenburg Abbey is a historical gem that dates back to the 600s, making it one of Germany's oldest monasteries. Founded by Celtic missionaries, this enchanting site not only boasts stunning architecture but also houses what is believed to be the world's oldest operating brewery, established in 1050.
Beautiful Abbey and delicious food! Take a relaxing boat ride down the Danube and visit the oldest monastic brewery in the world (2nd oldest brewery overall but the oldest owned by monks)! Wonderful walking paths and beautiful sights to see.

Good to visit both by ship - picturesque views of the Danube river. With car - there is a parking near. A part of Nature 2000. A very beautiful Church. There is also a museum. Delicious food. A bit crowded on weekends. I would recommend visiting on weekdays. Don’t forget the bathing suits.

Lucky to have been introduced to this place by a colleague. It's a bit hard to get here by public transportation. Beautiful place, exquisite views with one of the best draft beer i have had in Europe (or maybe i was just tired after the hike 🤪). Definitely visit this place if you can!

Wonderful place to go on a boat trip through the river. Beautiful views with a fresh breeze make an amazing afternoon. They are always making round trips with several stops to drop off/pick up passages and cyclists. Pet friendly and can be paid in the spot. Totally recommend!

The best tour guide ever. Gave a fantastic explanation of the church an absolute font of knowledge. Then had a beer and back on the boat.
Martin S — Google review
The Abbey itself is stunning! We enjoyed walking the beautiful grounds, especially down on the banks of the Danube river. Too bad the beer garden is so crowded and the beer itself was not the best monk beer we have had in Germany by far. Overall, glad we stopped by for the gorgeous scenery.
Deanna W — Google review
Everything was good except for the small museum where all the text was available only in German. Cool to buy some beers from the oldest still active abbey brewery! The church was fantastic but you were not allowed to take any pictures in there. Don’t miss the architect who made a copy of himself looking down from the ceiling!

An unadorned castle situated in a remote location, that’s to say, it seems more likely a regular resident house. Because of fame of Sisi that attracts visitors come over here constantly, but some could be end up disappointedly. But that’s not the case for us, hiking is the real issue here. There’re some interesting hiking routes between Unterwittelsbach and Oberwittelsbach, this is my alternative tip for other people who might looking for different recreation.
Angela M — Google review
A peaceful place for walking. It is not really a very beautiful palace. But it is surrounded by a lake and a lot of old trees. Walking along the path besides the trees you can go to the forest. That is a good choice for a family walk in weekend.
Wei P — Google review
First of hopefully many pictures of German castles (and occasional other stuff). Pictured here is Wasserschloss Unterwittelsbach, also known as Sisi Schloss. Not nearly as spectacular as Neuschwanstein it is still worth a visit if you are in Bavaria. Placed right next to city of Aichach (also close to Augsburg and Munich), this could be the perfect detour for a few hours. With entry price of just 4€ for adults it is a bargain, and after you finish looking inside (which will not take too long), there is a nice trail around the moat surrounding the castle. You can also sit on numerous benches and enjoy clean air and bird song :)

Centuries-old hilltop fort ruins with an excavated moat & chapel, plus guided tours on Sundays.
This is not a pile of rubble marking the ruins of a castle. It is a large complex with multiple rooms, evidence of several levels including a natural ravine/gorge that would serve a similar role like a moat and an extensive outer wall. Considering that it was in full use a thousand years ago it is a fascinating site to explore.
Homer P — Google review
Wolfstein Castle (Burgruine Wolfstein) is a beautiful and peaceful spot that’s perfect for a short hike and a taste of medieval history. Located on a hill above the town of Neumarkt in Bavaria, the castle ruins date back to the 12th century and still have an impressive presence. The walk up to the castle is easy and scenic, taking visitors through forest paths and offering lovely views along the way. Once at the top, the remains of the stone walls and towers give a great sense of what the fortress once was. There's also a viewing platform that offers stunning panoramic views over Neumarkt and the surrounding countryside. It’s free to explore, and while the ruins aren’t large, they have a peaceful charm that makes it a nice place to spend an hour or so. There are also a few benches at the top, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the scenery. Wolfstein Castle is great for anyone who enjoys light hiking, history, and beautiful views. It’s a quiet, less crowded alternative to bigger tourist sites, making it a perfect stop if you’re in the area.
Bobby B — Google review
Took a trek right from the train station as we went there on the weekend and the buses were not operational. It took about an hour to reach the ruins but the journey was worth it. The tower was open, so I could enjoy the breathtaking view. The place takes about 30 min to explore but I would recommend a hike or trek to enjoy the place to its fullest.
Vaibhav P — Google review
It was easy to find parking right outside the little town. It was an easy 5-minute walk to the castle. The only disappointing thing was that there is very little to discover. There is only one plaque that we could find with anything written on it about the castle. And guided tours of the spire are only available on Saturdays. The rest of the castle can easily be explored in under 10 minutes. The best thing about this Castle is the view. You can see the entire valley and distinguish no less than 8 or 9 different towns. It's breathtaking.
W B — Google review
Tours of the watch tower are only available on Sunday from 1pm - 5pm at the moment. But I grew up in the 80's and 90's playing the video game Wolfenstein 3D on a PC so had to come have a look. Really spectacular and fantastic views of the local town.

Cool luxury car museum. Learned that Maybach made much more than cars. Definitely worth checking out!
Philip S — Google review
Very interesting but the display of the cars was a bit boring, old fashioned. The artefact and the parafernalia displays were very nice. I wanted to pay with an EU debit card and at first they did not accept it. Once they realized I had no other means of payment it was okay. All by all I have learned a lot about the Maybach company.

Extremely interesting collection of pre-war Maybach cars. Facilities and restaurant closed due to private party.
Marcel S — Google review
The museum is great. Anyone interested in old cars and aviation with Zeppelins has come to the right place. Entrance fee of 9.50 euros is just about okay. However, parts of the museum are not heated. Be sure to dress warmly in winter. A room temperature that was 3 or 4 degrees higher wouldn't have been bad. No credit cards accepted, only debit cards. December 2023
O. K — Google review
I guess it is over rated; though there was some nice vintage cars, but the museum is relatively small. I was expecting to see some new cars. There are some interesting facts though, about the bike industry and patents, and also the war tanks industry. The video related to the Hindenburg disaster and the crash of the Zeppelin in the US in 1937, was really touching!
Patrick K — Google review
I expected more cars. The documentary about Zeppelin was interesting.

Burgruine Hilpoltstein

Historical landmark

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Interesting and the start of a nice 1/2 hour walk around the town walls
Fred N — Google review
Hello fellow time travelers! Today I want to share with you my experience of visiting the Burgruine Hilpoltstein, a medieval castle ruin in Bavaria, Germany. If you are looking for a place to explore some history, enjoy some scenic views and maybe even meet some ghosts, this is the place for you! The Burgruine Hilpoltstein dates back to the 11th century and was built by the lords of Stein, who were very influential and powerful in the region. They had good relations with the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and founded the towns of Hilpoltstein and Freystadt. They also had a lot of drama in their family, like Heinrich III, who tried to become a bishop but failed, or Hilpolt IV, who died without heirs and ended the dynasty . The castle was then sold to the Wittelsbach dukes of Bavaria, who used it as a residence for their widows. One of them was Maria Dorothea, who expanded and renovated the castle in the 17th century. She was also very religious and generous, and donated a lot of money to churches and monasteries. She died in 1639 and was buried in Seligenporten Abbey . After her death, the castle was abandoned and fell into decay. It was used as a quarry and a prison until it was bought by the county of Roth in 1972. Since then, it has been restored and opened to the public . You can visit the castle from April to October and see the remains of the palas, the chapel, the bergfried (donjon) and the ring wall. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding countryside from the top of the hill. The castle also hosts some cultural events throughout the year, like a medieval festival in May and a theater festival in August. You can also find a tourist information center, an archive and a community college in the former granary. If you are lucky, you might even encounter some of the former inhabitants of the castle, who are said to haunt the place. Some people have reported seeing or hearing strange things, like footsteps, voices or apparitions. So, if you are looking for a fun and interesting day trip in Bavaria, I highly recommend visiting the Burgruine Hilpoltstein. You will not regret it! And if you do meet any ghosts, please let me know in the comments!

Extremely poor hygiene. When we found 💩 poop laying around in the baby-pool, they fixed it by fishing the biggest peaces out of the water. In Denmark the pool would have been closed, emptied, cleansed and THEN reopened. The toilets were not in the locker rooms but rather inside the actual pool room, allowing for you to take a dump and then go straight back into the water, hence having everyone swimming in your rectal bacteria. In Denmark you strictly have to shower once more, using soap, before going back into the water. There were other very low-hygiene issues, but those two mentioned were the worst. So, don't go if you are not in the mood for an infection. If you don't care about hygiene, the place is ok.
Inez D — Google review
I am sorry to say this, however as of now I cannot suggest this place to any of my friends. It is clearly an old place and it looks like it’s not kept up as it is supposed to be. - There is algae in all the outside filters and the inside filters do not look really clean either. - The little “cave” has residue on the walls which makes me feel icky. - The seats were made out of really cheap looking plastic and the metal frames of quiet a few of the loungers are rusty. a. s. o. .. There is no reason to make a special Tripp to this location.
T S — Google review
Perfect place for relax, just few people even during the weekend. We enjoyed our time there, swimming and cool poolbar
Denisa G — Google review
From the outside the place has great appeal with modern architecture and smooth surfaces, however once inside the age of the building shows. The changing rooms are packed full with changing booths and lockers with little room to maneuver around. There is only one male and one female shower room with 5-7 shower heads. The pool area is cramped with chairs along the edges forcing you to side step past them. The concrete walls show signs of water damage and paint peeling all over. The two indoor “hot” pools were actually mildly warm with only small sections of bubbling water. The area with the children’s pool and area was very nicely layout, however most of the kids were in the main area with their parents in the warm pools. Their behavior and loudness took away from the goal of relaxing. A recommendation for the locker keys and access control to different areas, use a more modern method like a rubber wrist band embedded with a chip that is programmed at front desk. The coin chip works, however placing it in the wrist band holder with the locker key is bulky and requires constant attention to ensure it’s still tight or fastened to wrist. Overall the place is best suited to take your children and let them burn some energy off. This is NOT a place to go if you wanna relax in a hot therme.

It's my second time visiting this complex and I can highly recommend it. This time, I found out that the museum itself has been closed for several years already due to extensive renovations. Unfortunately this wasn't very clear online and when you get there the signage isn't very clear either - we walked right past the containerized ticket booth because when you walk towards the building from the parking lot, you can't see the signage. However, visiting the special exhibition was worth it. It's immensely important to expose yourself to our history - maybe one day we will learn?

Worth a visit. They are currently renovating and I expect that the updated museum will be excellent. No real signage for the other outdoor paths and buildings. We saw the interim exhibit and it was quite complete. €5 cash to park. Couple this site with the Nuremberg Court Rooms. (Make sure to pay the street parking fee as a whole line of cars got ticketed outside the court room.)

It was temporarily closed when I visited. If you want to see it reopened, go in 2026.

St. Lorenz Church is a restored Gothic church in Nuremberg, Germany, which suffered severe damage during World War II but was rebuilt. The church features impressive interior artwork and a large organ. Visitors can explore the Nuremberg Old Town with a local expert guide to see four beautiful medieval churches, including St. Lorenz Church, and learn about their unique historical stories.
Absolutely beautiful. Historical cathedrals with their spires, intricate side chapels, and impossibly high ceilings are a must-see for me. I just can't imagine praying in one... I'd be too distracted!

St. Lawrence is the Cathedral Church of Nuremberg with twin bell towers. It is located in Alstadt very center surrounded with many market stalls. Church is free to enter with tall classic Gothic arches inside with very few stained glass. WWII devastations miraculously spared the twin towers which only endured minor damages
Dejan B — Google review
Gothic masterpiece church dominating southern part of old town was built over the period of 2 centuries from 1250 to 1477. It was burnt out at the end of WW2 and reconstructed in 1952. Artwork was preserved in underground bunkers prior to bombings, so wooden rosary with suspended in mid-air figures and stain glass are original to medieval period.

Almost a twin of the St Sebald (might be?) but with it's own architectural marvel. In a large market square with farmer market and many open square restaurants
Don D — Google review
St. Lorenz Church is one of the most important Gothic churches in southern Germany and a defining landmark of Nuremberg’s old town. Built between the mid-13th and 15th centuries, it was originally a Catholic church but became Lutheran after the Reformation in 1525. Its twin towers and richly ornamented façade dominate Lorenzer Platz. The church measures approximately 91 meters in length, 27 meters in width, and its towers rise to about 80 meters high — making it one of the largest churches in Bavaria. We didn’t have the chance to go inside, as a concert was taking place at the time of our visit. However, even through the closed doors, the sheer power of the sound resonating from within was striking — a clear reminder of the building’s scale and extraordinary acoustics.

St. Lorenz dominates Nuremberg’s Old Town with its towering Gothic façade and twin spires that seem to pull the eye upward the moment you step into Lorenzer Platz. The intricate stonework of the main portal and rose window is stunning up close, and the scale of the building makes it impossible to miss while exploring the city center. Originally built in the 13th century, the church was heavily damaged during World War II and carefully reconstructed, a reminder of both destruction and resilience in Nuremberg’s history. Inside, it houses important works of art, including Veit Stoss’ soaring wooden Angelic Salutation and stained glass that dates back to the Middle Ages. Even if you only admire it from the square, St. Lorenz offers one of the most striking examples of German Gothic architecture in the region and connects directly to the layered history of the city.

Hugely impressive historic church! Worth a visit.

St. Lorenz Church in Nuremberg is a breathtaking example of Gothic architecture that left me in awe. The towering twin spires and the intricate façade draw you in, but it’s the interior that truly captivates. The soaring vaulted ceilings, stunning stained glass windows, and the elaborate sculptures create a space that feels both grand and intimate. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are remarkable, making it easy to lose yourself in the beauty and history of the place. St. Lorenz is not just a church; it’s a masterpiece that speaks to the soul.

The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, also known as Kaiserburg, is a majestic 11th-century castle complex that includes a royal palace and gardens. Perched on a sandstone cliff overlooking the city, it is divided into three parts: the imperial castle Kaiserburg, noble buildings in Burggrafenburg, and other structures to the east in stadtische Burganlage.
One of the most well kept castles for its size and age. Not a lot of English info so prepare to get the audio guide if you want to know more about the castle. Had fun climbing the tower and the views of Nuremberg were unmatched!
Elle F — Google review
One of the iconic castles of Germany, with loads of imperial connections, and well worth braving the rather steep ascent (the views are great, too). Part of the fortifications that lure you up are actually the city wall, not the castle proper, but the overall effect is what counts. If you are spendthrift, skip the castle interior (interesting, but nor overwhelming), and definitely do not eat there (much better value can be found around the nearby Dürerhaus or in town).
Bernd B — Google review
Definitely worth the price of admission. Lots of walking so wear good shoes. Make sure to check out the bridge near the bus drop-off point for the best view. No photography once you are inside. The castle is fabulous. There are bathrooms and a small Cafe inside. Get there early to avoid the crowd.

Nuremberg Castle Beautiful castle with great panoramic views of the city! 🏰✨ The climb up gives you a bit of a sweat, but totally worth it once you reach the top — the scenery is amazing. Perfect spot for photos and enjoying the old-town vibe from above.

From other reviews, didn't believe there'd be a lot of items to see in the museum. Was very surprised at the amount of historical items and information provided. The views of the city were fantastic along with the historic background. Very easy walk even inside the museum and inner grounds. I highly recommend to anyone visiting.

One of the best place to visit. I will comeback again here so soon! ✨️ and I hope I can see the man we were with again, the one with long hair and the one wearing a red jacket at my back. Shout out to them. 📣 Photo taken last January 07 2025.

Beautiful spot to explore — great for a scenic walk with lovely views over the city. The whole place has a strong historic atmosphere and makes for a really nice visit.

The Imperial Castle is the symbol of Nuremberg. Since the Middle Ages its silhouette has represented the power and importance of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and the outstanding role of the imperial city of Nuremberg. From 1050 to 1571, all Holy Roman Emperors resided – at least temporarily – in the Imperial Castle. An archeological exploration of the grounds of the castle has revealed remains of a fortress.

Historic Sites
The Albrecht Dürer House in Nuremberg is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and history buffs. This timbered Gothic house survived WWII bombing and now houses original etchings and woodcuts by the renowned German Renaissance artist, Albrecht Dürer. The museum offers a glimpse into Dürer's life, featuring a recreated studio and print shop, as well as a gallery showcasing both replica and original works.
An interesting museum, the audio guide is included in the ticket price (€7.5) and is available in Russian. The museum tells the history of the house itself, the story of Dürer and his family, features copies of his works, the preserved kitchen, and reconstructed rooms. I spent an hour and a half there as if in one breath. Highly recommended! If you come at the opening, there are few people and it’s very comfortable.

A charming museum that offers a closer look at the life and work of this talented and self-assured painter. It feels special to visit in his hometown. Although it’s sad that Nuremberg lost many of his original works, the reproductions and the effort of other artists to keep his legacy alive are meaningful and well worth seeing.
Yulan Z — Google review
Authentic house that was home to famous medieval artist. Although there are only reproductions and period furniture in the house, it feels real and relays the life story of Durer in great detail.
Mike Z — Google review
Albrecht-Dürer-Haus The museum does a great job of presenting its exhibits, even though it’s a bit small — which is understandable given the size of the original house. I especially enjoyed the art gallery section; it was fascinating. The staff were also wonderfully friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better.
Uraiwan S — Google review
This is the house where Albrecht Dürer once lived, though the exhibition makes it clear that almost no trace of the great master's residency remains - yet you get a good introduction to his life and works. You may even try your hand at creating your own art. Can be crowded at times, as the rooms (and especially stairwells) are small.
Bernd B — Google review
A sight that is a "must-see" if you are visiting Nuremberg. We didn't go inside, but from the outside it looks like an ordinary house, of which there are many in the city center. But it is still special, as it is linked to a famous historical figure.
Ermi M — Google review
We loved the English tour with Agnes, the "wife" of Dürer, who presented a very personal insight of the life of the artist while guiding us through the building!
Florin M — Google review
A very impressive historic building once owned by Albrecht Dürer. Plan at least two hours for a thorough tour. It's worth the time to admire the works of this medieval master.

PLAYMOBIL -Fun Park is a child-friendly leisure park featuring themed, toy-inspired zones, playgrounds, a quarry, and a climbing area. Visitors recommend bringing food and spare clothes for water activities. The park offers endless slides, climbing structures, and water play areas. It's considered great value for the price with ample attractions to keep kids entertained all day. Additionally, there are indoor options available in case of inclement weather.
Well what a place! We visited on a weekday with family. For the price we were a little sceptical. But Wow what an amazing place for all the family. I had as much fun as the kids. As I grew up with Playmobil over 40 years ago. So really loved it. The different areas were great. And the inside where you get to play with all the toys wow. Food and drink was really reasonable and could keep cups etc if you wanted. Overall a great fun day out Highly recommend.

Great place por kids! It's small but your children will have a blast! There is an indoor area with several stations to play with a bucket of toys for each kid. There is an outdoor area with a pirate ship and a pirate shack with a slide, a little fountain with a hand pump and another mini slide. The cafeteria has a good selection of dishes and reasonably priced. If you gonna buy some toys, just make sure to buy them at the store before closing time.

Absolutely great outdoor park with tons of water playgrounds . Kids are busy playing there and us adults can sit and relax . It’s great in summer . Personally I don’t like the indoor spot . Way too noisy and stressful . Supposedly winters are long and it’s great to have a playground covered ….but yeah … The outdoors in summer are just the best for young and older kids .
Lexe B — Google review
The visit was excellent. However, there aren't many activities for children under 1.20m mostly playground-type areas, the water zone, and the Bauernhof area. The rest was for taller kids. Still, we had a great time, and my daughter enjoyed the whole day. There's a restaurant with a good variety of options and reasonable prices. The only downside was a restroom near the restaurant, it was quite small and not very clean, but the one inside the main building was much better. We went during the school holidays, so it was quite crowded.
Macarena P — Google review
this time we were disappointed. Masses of people. Everywhere is full. Where you should look for treasure - there is no treasure or tools left. Treasure hunt near the shells - also empty. Queues in other attractions. Anyway - the park is big, there is a lot of everything. We only went around it in 4 hours. good prices
Agnė P — Google review
This is the best playground for kids! I was a little skeptical about the price, but it's absolutely worth it! Imagine a Playmobil village in real life, water games, castle, pirates galleon, amazing! My 3yo really loved it!

Amazing place for our 4 year old. Nice prices for food and drinks inside. For a norwegian, the biergarten was amazing to cool down with a nice bavarian beer.
