What an absolute treat, I feel like a refreshed young Victorian man. I was entering the unexpected other than rave reviews of what the seaweed can do for you. The steam cupboard was a great addition. I look forward to returning soon.

What a unique experience! I think I would enjoy this place on both a rainy or sunny day (we just so happened to be in Ireland on the streak of sunny days!!) while I think we could have just walked in, we did call ahead of time to book a room for two + the steamer. My only mistake was not asking for a room with a window to the outside where the sun and fresh air could flow through. Our room did have a window, just led to another part of the inner building… as far as the bath itself, I really enjoyed spending time with my husband chatting away about other plans while we soaked in the warm water. You may need to turn the hot water on from time to time to warm it up a bit though. I did not know they offered massages as well!! Next time I will be sure to book this along with our bath. :) Make sure to pick up a box for an at home seaweed bath on your way out for yourself or as a gift. Thanks you for a wonderful experience!!

This place is an amazing gem of a spot, takes you back in time with the Victorian vibe, also the water and steam are hot with the sea water being the perfect mix of relaxation and relief. 1000/10 wish I could could give more stars. The lads who worked there were wonderful to boot.

Had a 1 hour massage with a lovely lady called Tanya. She is very good at what she does, I was relaxed throughout, Tanya would communicate during the massage to make sure I was comfortable, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out they offered massages and will definitely return for another.

Charming staff. A throwback Victorian experience. Unique. Restful and healthful. I wish it were striking distance from where I lived!

We absolutely loved it here. The vintage and old-fashioned style to this longstanding bathhouse is still in tact, which really makes you feel like you've stepped into an exciting time machine that is specifically designed to pamper you. Pricewise, I really feel like it's a bargain. Genuinely half the price of other seaweed bath places with twice as much character.

Lovely cafe.. busy but plenty of room..My 90 yrvold Dad loved the quiet conservatory. The lift also was very appreciated. Staff were superbly polite, friendly and kind.

Plenty of parking nearby. The buildings are bright and fresh. The staff are pleasant and helpful. There are loads of different items for sale from scarfs to coats to blankets etc. There is a cafe on site. It would have been nice to learn some of the history of the mill but the drawings and similar items were in the cafe.

Excellent homeware shop. There are no throws better than Foxford. The quality of the bedding is first rate along with their designs. A must visit to Foxford Woolen Mill. They can ship overseas.

I am a bit on the fence here. While the food was nice, most of it is cold salads. And don't get me wrong that was also nice. The only real issue about cold food was that it was a miserable cold day. And on those days hot food is a must. Eating cold salads really just brings down your body temp making you more miserable on a damp day. My toasted sandwich was lovely and warm, it would have been perfect with hot salads or cooked veg, such a downer to a good meal. I should have had the soup, keep myself nice and warm. And while the food was tasty. Other areas of the whole experiance was slightly lacking. Service was ok, if not coming off a little abruptly at times. And cutlery was very water stained, for a cafe which is supposed to have an upscale feel about it. A pot of hot water and it's a 10 minute job to go through a day's worth of knives and forks. Sadly this really gives off a bad impression, there is no care or attention to detail. This place has gone down hill a little since I last visited maybe 4 years ago. Just could be better all around. But on the positive side, deserts here are their bread and butter. So many treats and you are spoiled for choice.

Fabulous food/ desserts. More of a brunch /lunch place. Everything homemade portions are decent. Their dessert chef is 🤌 One of my favourite places to go for coffee. Lunch dessert tea/coffee comes in around €20-22 but it's all individual to what you want or depends on your hungry pp you never leave hungry. 5☆

The reviews for the cafe are spot on - excellent food but very expensive. The blankets are gorgeous. Perfect for gifts to bring home from Ireland if you're not cheap and don't like that. True keepsakes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our guide Mark's account of Michael Davitt - who we knew next to nothing about before coming here. Great collection of historical documents and items around his life and the historic cemetary and monastery/priory were a wonderful bonus!

We happen to see this place while driving west and decided to take a look. It was early in the morning so no one was there. The cemetery ruins looked pretty and historic. There was free parking on site

We visited here on a Wednesday afternoon. The people before us were charged €5 per head but we were charged €8 each. The film (10 mins) is informative and the guide who spoke after was very good as was the outdoor guide who showed us the soup pot, the grave and the abbey.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Michael Davitt Museum in Straide, and our experience was truly elevated by our guide, Mark. His depth of knowledge, storytelling flair, and sharp sense of humor brought Davitt’s legacy vividly to life. Mark didn’t just recite facts—he wove history, politics, and personal anecdotes into a rich tapestry that made the tour feel both intimate and expansive!!Great craic all round! His ability to balance reverence with wit made complex topics accessible and engaging, and his passion for the subject was infectious. If you're visiting Mayo and want to connect with Ireland’s social justice heritage in a meaningful way, this museum—and Mark’s tour in particular—is not to be missed. Small museum with a passionate guide whose excellent storytelling showed how the history here still resonates today. The private tour made for a great experience. Definitely worth a visit.

The visit started off with a 10min video followed by a really great and informative tour outside by Paul. He gave us lots of information and showed us Michael Davitts grave, along with a number of other key spots that we wouldn't have known about had we not gotten the tour. Well worth the money! There is also a museum section inside for after the tour with plenty of reading.

Initially hard to find, Google maps brought me to the wrong place, seemingly next to the park only no entrances. (I was in a panic as the park run was due to start very soon). The park itself was lovely. The lake the forest the wildlife. The sun was shining and the park run we were going to - fab! Very well set up and managed. I recommend the park and the run. All in all a good morning.

Was amazed how tidy and clean this little gem is just in off the main road. Wheelchair friendly and a huge greeting from the ducks that roam free which is lovely to see. Very safe for kids where the lake is well fenced off. Nice little treck for all the family.

The scenery was lush but that's about it. There is no giant chair, no giant door, no train, no maze. They ninjago statue has been mauled and is missing limbs. There are only two pencils left of the three which are in just dire condition. There are train tracks which are just some shoddy plastic pipes left to rot as the train is no longer there. The maps placed around the park have not been updated since 2007, literally and show all the attractions that have since been removed. The placed is in some serious need of restoration. At the very end of our expedition, our eyeballs were graced by a surprise fugly beast on a toothbrush, 10/10 recommended going. xoxo 🥰

A wonderful place to walk Many different art objects, fresh air

I had wanted to explore this Park on a prior trip but ran out of time, so this time I was determined. The entrance is near a kids playground and there is adequate parking. Entrance and use are free. There are informative signs near the entrance regarding the trees and wildlife of the park. The path ways are well sign posted and the lake is directly in view, behind a small pavilion. Once I entered the walking path I quickly developed a sense of detachment from the noise and traffic outside the park, an impression which deepened as I progressed further. There are amusing miniatures of houses for the little people in the early section. This is followed by samples from the Land of the Giants further in. These figures add amusement and interest to the walk. KM markers give one a sense of progress and maps are placeed at critical junctions. There are multiple wooden bridges to help cross over streams. The sound of your own footsteps on the path surface made me think of life 100 + years ago when such walks would have been the primary method to get from one village to another. The trees and flora and fauna are more natural than in a more disciplined City Park and are all the better for it. On my return route I noticed men fishing and a pair of swans gliding through the water. The whole experience was good for both mind and body. As I neared the exit I was mentally scheduling my next walk. The paths were not crowded and one has plenty of time for reflection.

Tree lined walk at McMahon Park that stretches for about 6km. Ideal for kiddies on bicycles. Opportunity to feed the ducks and geese. This is a beautiful nature walk.

Beautiful spot to go. The park is really nice and is almost pristine with the exception of a odd little bit of litter left by some idiots. There is a large array of plants and wildlife around the park, including lots of ducks and geese. The park is also wheelchair accessible. The entrance gates to the park are closed at 8pm.

We had a fabulous day at the farm today! Kids absolutely loved it, loads for them to do. The indoor soft play area is huge! Loads of friendly animals that the kids could feed and interact with. A huge array of outdoor toys and playgrounds aswell, just a really fun packed day. The staff are lovely and friendly. Food was only OK but its not overpriced either so it does the job. All in all its a fabulous day out and we'll definitely be back soon!

We loved it! The animals are adorable and extremely well cared for. At the entrance, they gave us a small bag of food for the animals – the kids went wild with excitement! We were welcomed by the lovely Emma – she was amazing! We were the first to arrive, and she quickly let the kids hold a bunny and kindly answered our questions about some of the birds. The outdoor area is incredible and really well designed, full of fun activities for the little ones. We had a lovely lunch, once again looked after by the sweet Emma, always cheerful! Overall, it was an amazing experience and one we’ll definitely repeat. The kids will surely be asleep early tonight! Thank you so much, Emma, for your kindness and professionalism! I highly recommend this place for families, schools, and anyone with children.

Just had the best birthday for my daughter here! The staff was kind, and caring and compassionate, with wonderful customer service for a party of 17 kids! The facility was clean! The rates were well worth the experience! The food was delicious and the farm animals were amazing! With inside soft play and outside playgrounds, slides, go carts and sand play rooms for rainy dismal days..... Overall, I'd give them 10 stars! I have lived in Ballyhaunis in the last 8yrs and I used to think there was nothing we could do around here asides walk in the park. It's my first time visiting this farm and it is such a lovely place. Also a brilliant space to host birthday party for kids. My kids loved it and have asked to go back again. The staff are also pleasant. I highly recommend.

A big Surprise I’m happy to say. I looked at Graune pet farm’s web site and wasn’t looking forward to the visit that my wife promised our 6 year old going by the web page photos. It’s a bit out of the way but worth the journey. It has large parking areas and easy access for those with strollers or wheelchair’s. It was €8 for each adult and €12 for the child but family rates are available. From the get go we got greeted by an adorable puppy in a stable with rabbits and kittens. A walk around the farm and your surrounded by hundreds of chicken loads of goats, lamas, emu and many other farmyard friends. All the animals seemed in good health and happy and their living areas looked clean and tidy all with food and water. The kids have lovely play areas outside including tyre swings and zip lines. Inside the indoor play soft play area is huge and has pool tables and air hockey to kill some time while your little one is on an adventure. It also has a large restaurant area although we didn’t eat here it looked and smelled lovely. It a lovely well run place clean and tidy with friendly staff. The little extras like “walking on water” only cost €3 and was well worth it. At first I was only going to give it four stars but thinking about it I don’t see how they could make it better for what you pay and I would highly recommend a visit. We spent 3 hours here and enjoyed every minute.

Great experience. I have visited last month with my wife and kid and he really enjoyed the visit. Spent 4-5 hours, enjoyed plenty of outdoor activities and indoor play area. Wide range of animals and will have an opportunity to feed the animals, Amble parking space, nice cafe with reasonable price, very friendly staff. Everything maintained neat and tidy..

Kids had a ball, you can spend all day here. Lots of animals, plenty play areas. Go carts, swings, seesaw....Indoor soft play area too. Small cafe on site, we had our lunch there, it was lovely. Staff very friendly, would definitely recommend.

A fabulous 6km loop walk. Start off with a steep hike to the tomb which is so impressive, with amazing 360 views and great mountain spotting signage. Then work your way down the trail on the other side and descend through steep forest with the help of a railway sleeper staircase and finally finish off along forest trails overlooking the Standhill surf.

very beautiful hike with a really steep incline at the end but the view is soooo worth it at the end!! so many sheeps and cows in the area too!! only 1.2 km to the top

Nice and easy walk. Easy for kiddos too. I done it with 2 Czechoslovakian wolfdogs 🐺🐺 and they really enjoyed this hike. Excellent paths done, really finger 👍. My recommendation to everyone 👌👌👌💪💪💪

A strenuous walk. I parked the car in Sligo rugby football club (a honest box is kept). Ver well maintained trail, and the steps were stepper. Plenty of benches along the trail to take rest. The trail leads to Queen Maeve's cairn. An absolutely gorgeous 360° view from the summit. Spent nearly 4 hours. After walk went to Strandhill beach and enjoyed the rest of evening. Perfect for a day trip with family.

I've done this walk a few times. However, this time a bit differently with the newly added path around the Sligo side of the mountain. I recommend starting at the Sligo side car park and going up to the top and back down the Strandhill side through the forest. Then take the loop around back to the car park. This may be best for those, like me, who aren't very fit. I had my legs under me for the strenuous bit with loose rock and the loop is pretty easy on tired legs. Starting on Strandhill side, up and over, then around would be the same. It took me about two hours with lots of stops for photos. There is a nice little crepe and snack cart in the car park but not open all the time.

Nice hicking. Good for groups and families. Nice wonderful view. Excellent spot for photographers. Good exercise. It would take 3 hours approx. Car parking and coffee placed are available. Don't miss stand and read about sacred spot of Meabh's cairn. You can not stand on or climb or take stone from there. If you want to see a photo of this place from above, I have some drony photos of there.

It's very nice place for hiking. Wear suitable boots. We can see the beauty of Ireland's nice beaches from the top. At once side of mountain, you can experience the jungle ambience.

Fantastic experience that I'd recommend to everyone. We decided to go here on the way back to Knock airport and it proved to be a great decision. The staff are fantastic and really get their love and passion for the animals across. As it was out of season there were only 6 of us visiting for this 2 hour session so it was a real personal experience. As if having Eagles and Owls flying and landing on your arm wasn't amazing enough there's an array of other animals to get to see and pet from ferrets and rabbits to giant pigs and even a skunk. Absolutely fantastic time had.

Staff were very friendly. Price was very good I thought €54 for 2 adults and 2 kids over 10. Animals very well cared for and very friendly, so obviously well looked after. It was lovely to hear that they nurse injured animals back to health and release those able to be released. Kids loved the place and the 2 hours flew by. A++++

We had a great experience visiting the raptor sanctuary. Great demonstration of the flying birds of prey as well as a fun petting zoo and other rehabilitated animals on the grounds. They're doing great work and it's satisfying to know that you're helping to fund a good cause while enjoying your visit.

What a place! A wonderful experience, worth every cent! You can feel that the birds and all the other animals are in such good care. The two ladies who showed us the place were amazing, very friendly and helpful. Despite the miserable weather they made sure we had a great time. They even got some umbrellas for us to use during the tour and the show! I learned a lot about the animals and I highly recommend this place!

We came here back in 2017 and loved it. So as we decided to come back and do it again. This time was even better. We were the only ones there. The girls were brilliant, they talked as if the place was full. They clearly love the animals and love what they do. Thanks again for a great day. It cost €20 each, well worth it. 😊

Very beautiful waterfall, there is plant of designated parking nearby with ice cream van, play area, lake view, sheep, tea house and the route to waterfall. This route is accessible for mobility users up to the waterfall. There is choice to climb stairs and come round to the tea house. Rest areas and toilet are nearby in parking.

Lovely quiet calm spot to visit. Family and I had a small picnic. We were fortunate with lovely weather for the day.

Beautiful location with a lake on one side, at the carpark, and then a small walk uphill through a canopy of trees to the gorgeous waterfall. Two pathways available to reach the waterfall, both have steps about 1/2 ways up but also stopping areas and seats on approach to sit and enjoy the sounds and views. Paved pathways in place but may become slippy with rain. Some light to moderate exertion required to reach the top and loop back around - not suitable for buggies etc. lovely cafe with information point, bathrooms, play area (outside), and small crafts at the entrance to the walk also. Parking is substantial but due to popularity it may require a little time to get a spot, but generally appears to have a steady turnover of spaces available. Lovely ice-cream van onsite in carpark also, (seasonal) - well worth a stop for a quick chat and nibble if inclined. Overall - a must see!

Absolutely beautiful Waterfall. It is really high and the sound of the water falling is so peaceful. You can go up the steps at the side of the waterfall just to watch the water fall at such a great height. Really worth a visit and no charge to visit it.

This was a great little walk. Not very long, only took us about 5 minutes to get to the waterfall. Very slightly uphill to the waterfall and then there are a few stairs. Once you get to the waterfall you can either turn around and go back the way you came or go up the stairs and around, the trail loops back to the starting path. There is a parking lot with a public toilet at the start of the trail. You do not have to pay for parking and there is no fee to get to the waterfall. There is also a small tea shop at the start of the trail if you need a drink or a snack.

Glencar Waterfall is a stunning natural feature located in County Leitrim, Ireland. It is nestled in the picturesque Glencar Valley, near the village of Glencar, and is part of the Glencar Lake area. Best of all, entry is free, which makes it a perfect short stop or a relaxed afternoon outing. Highly recommend adding this to your Wild Atlantic Way itinerary—you won’t regret it!

Great place, lovely scenery , only downside is you have to pay for kids playground and boat hire €40 per hour, quite steep. Food in cafe average . If you spend €20 there , you don't need pay parking which cost €6.

Went for Hot air balloon championship. Absolutely disaster. Don't recommend anyone to go. Nowear to leave car and so only air balloon basket with flames. They didn't fly because was too windy. Yesterday was lovely day in this month.

Very interesting place to take your children or to go for a good picturesque countryside walk. However, I took off one star because I feel the place has monetised a lot of the features which elsewhere would be free. Worth a good day to see everything.

Such a nice park with stunning views. You have a lot of routes which you can take and also a couple of activities and a cafe. Worth a visit if you’re around!

If you want to spend a few hours walking the forest trails 👣 and get a nice view 😉 this is the place 👌 and at the end get a coffee ☕️ and cake 🎂 too 😀.

The park itself is quite an interesting place to spend time with friends or family offering some activities for everyone.We were disappointed to drive there for almost 3 hours and don’t see any air balloons despite the good weather.Lots of people came for the same reason.They showed only the basket with the fire to people to take a photo in.

This park os really phenomenal, lots of activities for the whole family, nice trails for walking, good service, the usual food and drinks, great views, we loved it.!

Very interesting tour with an excellent guide. He told us so many stories of ancient Ireland and made it so interesting. It would be great to see the site developed a bit more, show off the importance of the site in relation to the Táin Bó Cúailnge, Queen Medb etc.

This tour was an unexpected gem and the highlight of our holiday. Mike was a world of knowledge and wisdom, he delivered the information so well. Ancient Irish stories and mythology can be difficult to put together for the uninitiated but he did an amazing job guiding the group through the life of Queen Medb and that period in Irish history. Highly recommend

Two of us had a great tour of the Rathcroghan area, one of the most important centres in ancient and early medieval Ireland. Elaine, our guide, explained the landscape and history, striking just the right balance of archaeology and mythology. Highly recommended. The cafe ais also a great place to take a break before or after the tour.

I booked the guided tour. Mike, our guide, was friendly and full of information. After driving around to the sights we spent some time in the center watching the video and reading the displays. Finally a nice lunch in the café. Dress appropriately for the weather.

We had a great experience at Rathcroghan. The staff were lovely, from the cafe to the tour. We came for the Samhain tour & my little girl loved it. Our tour guide was full of stories and very patient with my little one, genuinely appreciated it. Would definitley recommend and we will be back.

Gerry was the guide during our visit, & what a guide he was. As a miner in this pit until it closed, he was informative & could tell afew funny stories along the way. He explained about how the equipment worked & how the men would have to position themselves to work safely. He & my dad, who also worked in the pits as a teenager, were able to compare notes, albeit different types of pit. This is probably the most engaging mining experience I've visited. There is an area of photos & old equioment/tools as well as a short video to help explain the mining jobs of the men and a nice clean cafe. I would highly recommend a visit here, worth the money. Added bonus, spectacular views of Lough Allen & the valley, especially when the sun is shining.

If you've got a weekend in Leitrim/Roscommon, this is worth the visit. Our guide was an ex-miner. His accent was tough for me (from Dublin) so I'd be interested to know if foreign tourists think similarly. The mine itself was pretty interesting, a bit chilly so a fleece/jumper would be recommended, and there's a small space for extra reading & a video. The cafe is ok with a small gift shop. There's plenty of parking & there's gorgeous views of Lough Allen. The driving route to Arigna is on some tiny, narrow country roads.

Really great experience, history of the mines was so interesting, our guide Eamon was lovely to chat to and hear his tales of the mines, its great the guides are ex mine workers to hear first hand stories. The cafe was so relaxed and lovely food, the staff were so welcoming and friendly, highly recommend a trip to the mines.

Arigna Mining Experience - An amazing tour into the history of Irish coal mining! A tour with former miners reveals 400 years of history at Arigna mines. In 1958, local coal powered the ESB power station, which closed in 1990. The miners had a grueling job: working on their knees in narrow 45cm faces, in dust and darkness. Awesome experience. I definitely recommend visiting!

Maurice an ex-miner did a private tour with us. He provided great explanations but also stories of the time he was digging coal. Great visit.

My wife and I toured the Arigna mine in May 2025. There was just the two of us and of course our guide. I think his name was Ian, but can't remember for sure <sorry>. It was fascinating to hear the stories of the brave people working in the mines. It was hard and dirty work to say the least. Besides the potential inherent danger, we were told the vein of coal they would try to extract was only 22 inches thick. Well worth the time to see how some people had to earn a living. There is a small gift shop and cafe if you're hungry for something quick. There is also a nice view of the surrounding area in the lunch area if you stay for something to eat.

There are 2 parts of this museum. One is Famine museum and the other is the McMahon house. We did guided tour of the house, which was super interesting and fun. Our guide was excellent with humour and full of information. The museum consists of what McMahon contributed to farmers’ emigration to Canada during the famine. It is horrible to learn what they did to these poor people, walked all the way from Stroketown to Dublin then put on the ship that was used for livestock transport. Not only losing their life but lived in the worst condition ever, and eventually dead from disease or hunger… not achieved better life that they hoped for… Then, when the sole heir of McMahon sold the mansion to the local businessman, he realised how important this estate and the records that they kept is to Irish history, and turned into the museum. The mansion was well kept and shows the wealth that they lived, although it declined eventually. Learning these whole contradictory lives.. was just fascinating. Definitely worth to visit.

The National Famine Museum near Longford is a powerful place to visit. It’s not a flashy, high-tech attraction; it’s a serious, thoughtful deep-dive into the darkest chapter of Irish history. The museum sits on the Strokestown Park estate, where original famine-era documents were discovered, and that gives the experience a real sense of authenticity. Walking through the rooms, you move between personal stories of tenants, eviction accounts, letters, and records that show exactly how the famine unfolded for ordinary families. Very enjoyable. Excellent food at restaurant Dog Friendly Walled Garden is excellent, has potential ( could benefit from an investment and some more full time gardeners), better than Kylomore Abbey. Guided tour of the house is good for those interested in Georgian architecture.

We took the guided tour at the National Famine Museum, and it was very well presented. The exhibits are informative and moving, offering a real insight into this important part of history. A deeply impactful and memorable visit — highly recommended.

Great exhibits on the History of the Potatoe Famine in Ireland and stories about the people effected at this cruel time in our History. A great museum that makes primary sources the focus while keeping the room drawing interest. The gardens are a beautiful walk and the house tour is well worth it to better understand the history from a more personal point of view.

Absolute hidden gem. It's unbelievable the amount of things to see and delight in. A trip to the past, but one that doesn't need a Delorean. Cannot recommend this enough for fans of Irish history and Folk history. They don't take card to buy tickets, so bring cash or book online (can do it when you get there)

This is one of Ireland best kept secret if you like looking into history this is the place for you also if you collect we turn up and charlie was amazing he had been making this collection for 50 years his knowledge was excellent the things he told us .when we was there the local school children turn up as there teacher was retiring there were so friendly and welcoming made us feel so good this is one of my favourite stop off if your ever in Ireland go

I would highly recommend a visit to this very special museum. The amount of exhibits and the memories they brought back were worth three times the entry fee. This is a real gem of a place and an absolute delight. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I was part of a group who 'oohed' and 'awed' and reminisced and loved their nostalgic trip down memory lane. Highly recommend for those who remember first hand the delights on view to those who are too young but will love the their families reactions to a trip into yesteryear.

We called Charlie and Bridie if we could come and see their museum. They opened the doors for us even though we came along when it was not officially open. The two of them are so lovely and explain to you everything you wanna know about the wonderful objects which have been collected over the years. I felt like I was on a journey back in time. I like nostalgia so I love places where you can dream away in phantasies about how evereything must have been in former times. We liked the fact that it was such a rural area and a lot of stuff which has been typical for rural areas. I really recommend to see that place and meet that lovely couple. Plan at least on hour for your stay. There is so much to see and you can sense how much love they have given into the collecting and the arrangements of the objects....

It took me ten years to persuade my husband to agree to walking this trail. It didn’t disappoint. When we started out there was cloud down over the mountain and it wasn’t clear exactly where the finish was which was probably a good thing. By the time we reached the top the clouds had cleared and we had a fabulous view. I honestly didn’t expect to find the walk difficult as a train regularly but it was tough enough. I would definitely recommend it though you need to go prepared.

Regarding the trail, the initial 3 km from the car park is a gravel road with easy to moderate difficulty. It is recommended to have good trekking shoes for this part. Taking a kid's trolley on this path wouldn't be recommended. After 3 km, the rest of the path is a proper boardwalk (wooden plank with metal net on top for grip). The total path on the boardwalk (to and fro) is approximately 6 km which can take anywhere between 1-3 hours depending on your speed. Most of this path is moderate level difficulty and only the final part of approx 0.5 km is very steep. It is recommended to always use the boardwalk as the grassland below could be wet/spongy. One should carry sufficient water and snacks for this trail.

This walk was something I was looking for some time. It's beautiful place to visit. Walk 12.2 kilometres long half of it is a boardwalk with 450 steps. Definitely worth to visit.

My 30th County high point today, Fermanagh and Cavan, the spectacular views from Culcaigh Mountains and Irelands amazing Stairway to Heaven ... worth the wait! Crossing the border on the mountain was a 1st for me with 360 degree vews across Fermanagh! I really was in Heaven!

I’ve done this walk a few times now. Just a heads-up — wear hiking shoes. Runners might get a bit uncomfortable with the road conditions. It’s a lovely walk overall, especially if you’re working on your breathing, since it’s uphill one way. Takes around 2h 40m both ways. Car park is about €7 or £6 by card. You don’t need to reach the top — the views from halfway up the stairs are the same as at the top.

Stunning views from the top of the stairway, even though it was a slightly cloudy day it gave it an eerily atmospheric view. It was harder than I expected so i’d recommend bringing a little snack to help you power through, or at least have a hearty breakfast 🥾

We picked a warm summer's day. With no clouds. The breeze kept us cool with a bottle of water. It's a hard hike up but so easy to get back down. 3 car parks First one is before you get to the marble arch caves, this is if you are staying up there. Second one is after the caves to the left. A man will stop you and ask for a fiver. We parked here but as we walked up there was a 3rd a little closer. Maybe this is the online booking one. Glad to tick this off my list of things to do. Views can only be appreciated on a clear day.

Having visited Ballinamore for a number of years since a child, this was my 1st time going here with my children. I wasn't sure what to expect but I need not of worried. This place is really good and the gentleman who show us around is a real asset to the place. He showed us everything and gave such great detailed information about things. He explained that the owner would be able to give more details but to be honest his knowledge was fantastic. Our son who is 5yrs old loved it. He was asking so many questions & each was answered. This place is great for the young & the old. We were a family of 4 & this place is well worth a visit. We already have 2 extra people to visit with us again in the near future. A real hidden Leitrim gem.

What an amazing place - so many cool and interesting pieces! We spent two and a half hours with Eugene as he shared his incredible knowledge of the collection with us. He's a very funny guy and had us laughing the whole time. Great value for money. The place was spotlessly clean. The cars/truck in particular were mint. A great way to spend a few hours - you will not regret paying a visit. Where else would you get to see 4,000 egg cups?

This is a beautiful place to visit. The grounds are peaceful and well-maintained, with plenty of historic ruins to explore. The museum was also really interesting, giving great context to the site’s history. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Clonmacnoise was founded in 544 AD by St. Ciarán who chose this site for its strategic location where the River Shannon meets ancient east–west land routes. From these humble beginnings, it flourished into a major center of religion, learning, craftsmanship, and trade, attracting scholars, pilgrims, and kings from across Ireland and beyond. At its height between the 7th and 12th centuries, Clonmacnoise was home to a thriving monastic community. Here, monks produced illuminated manuscripts, crafted exquisite metalwork, and carved some of Ireland’s finest high crosses. The Cross of the Scriptures, a masterpiece of early medieval stone carving, stands as a testament to the skill and faith of its creators. The site also features two round towers, several churches spanning centuries, and over 700 carved grave slabs—each telling part of Clonmacnoise’s story.

Passionate and lovely people! We arrived a little after the tour started, but the tour guy immediately welcomed us and made a little résumé of what we missed!!! He was very passionate and nice, answered some questions along the way too! We did arrive in the morning, so there weren't a lot of people around, which was perfect to explore the grounds in peace.

Well-preserved structure of a monastic city The story of the place is fascinating and very interesting You can start with a film (It lasts about 25 minutes) with an explanation of the structure and the ruins (from the beginning to the modern time) Then you can visit the exhibition: the original high crosses are in here Now you're ready to see the monastic site. Nun's church is about 500 meters from the modern graveyard. There are not indication to reach it. So you can find the whispering arch at the entrance

Great central location. The views from the castle of the city is nice. The price is a few euros and worthy of the material on display. For children it is good as there is alot to see. Well worth a look

With the staff being well informed about both Irish and Scottish history, proved the information centre to be really informative. As a traveler, it’s always good to find recommendations of local places that Google may not tell you about. This tourism centre was easy to find and it’s part of the Adamson Castle. You are greeted warmly by friendly staff and they’ll ask you a little bit about why you’re visiting, they can give you the right information as long as you ask. If you didn’t know, they also have self-guided tours inside the Athlone Tourist Information Centre, if you’re trying to waste a little extra time for your flight, also assuming you’re interested in seeing the remains of the Adamson Castle that was built in the 12th century.

This was nothing like we expected. The castle looked cool from the outside but it was essentially made into a modern “museum”, it was not a castle tour. Of our 10 days in Ireland so far, this is the first thing we did that we felt was a waste of time and money.

Wonderful little museum with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The information provided by both staff and video is excellent. The trackway is very well displayed and the boardwalk outside across the bog is lovely. Will definitely be back. The museum is free to visit.

Absolutely a Gem! An amazing artefact that deserves protection at all costs. The staff are incredible—dedicated and doing their utmost to preserve the Trackway. The guide was both passionate and highly knowledgeable, making the experience even more memorable. Unfortunately, the site is severely underfunded, and as a result, the Trackway is beginning to dry out. If no action is taken, it may eventually deteriorate beyond repair. I believe it might be necessary to undergo the full preservation process again, possibly in Portsmouth, given their expertise with the Mary Rose—which still looks fantastic. Ideally, the Trackway should be housed under glass to create a more controlled environment. It’s disheartening that, because the site is off the main tourist trail, the OPW seems to show little interest. There’s barely any advertising, and even less effort toward proper preservation—despite the fact that doing so would likely cost less than Dublin’s infamous “bike shed.” Shame.

We went as part of Heritage week for a slug and snail activity. We then went to see the trackway. We had an expert guide that made it so accessible and interesting for children! Thank you.

A hidden gem, after watching Oíche Shamhna: An Ancient Mystery on Sunday in which the Corlea Trackway visitor centre was featured we knew a visit was needed to see this wonderful facility, The staff were all very friendly and welcoming with our guide Noel who was very knowledgeable and passionate, and funny explaining the history in a very understandable way Thank you. After the film show and seeing the Trackway we went for a walk around a very atmospheric bog. I would highly recommend a visit at any age.

A hidden gem and definitely worth the visit. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was amazing hearing through their enthusiasm about the conservation project and the different theories on why the trackway was built 148 BC. Stunning to be witness of such amazing craftsmanship. And then a lovely walk in the wetlands and learning about the restoration of the bogs.

Very nice walk, well lit. If pushed, I'd gripe the users (adults) that play soccer tend to be horrible and park on paths between the carpark (sic) and the courts, and regularly get stuck on the grass, chewing it up and ruining it. (Yes there are photos and videos online) but you cant speak to them about it, as they gang up and get very intimidating and vocal.

Beautiful park in Longford! Clean cosy, lots old trees, little lakes and river. There are a lot of different birds, they sing and these songs are like in paradise! There are many benches and it is a great idea to put a lot of wooden benches in the park, they are conducive to a pleasant rest and relaxation in nature. One of the best park in Ireland!☘️

Lovely place for long walk n nature. We went when cafe was closed and couldn’t hire a bike but still we enjoyed our quiet quality time there. Good for families and toddlers please bring stroller for kids. But it’s a good place for family to hangout together. Highly recommended definitely will visit again as it has a history too👍

There were no staff available and minimal signage. A lot of areas were closed off due to construction, so only the long routes were available. Really nice for a romantic stroll or walk with the family. Also good for morning and/or evening exercise. Once you figure our how to read the map, you are left to hunt for the little colored arrows like Easter eggs. Again, some better signage would be great. Some of the information plaques are terribly weathered and need replacing. Had a mini photoshoot for my birthday. Pictures turned out great!

Nice place for picnic, walks and lovely day spent in the nature, we absolutely loved it there. There is few trails you can take, lots of sculptures around, also fairy walk and beautiful woods. Great for day out with kids, bring their bikes or scooters. Little café closes at 4. Fantastic day.

Neat stop on our way to Gallway from Dublin. The grounds are pretty huge and looked great for biking. Bike rentals are available. Bathrooms and a cafe are a short walk from the main parking lot. Would definitely recommend looking at the map if you're walking because it really is an expensive place. Loved the sculptures we did see, the others are kinda spread out.

Beautiful setting on the lough with breathtaking views. Lots to do including trails, cycles for hire, pond dipping and bug hunting. There are a couple of great mobility scooters that allow access to ost of the grounds. And of course the tearoom. Best one of any NT property we have been to, delicious range of hot food and the cakes and pastries have to be seen and tasted to be believed!

Had an excellent visit to Crom today, it rained but the beauty, colours, smells and the peacefulness were worth the soaking! I saw my very first red squirrel, alas too shy for a photo. We walked the Estate Trail and added the island with the walled garden approx 5.4 miles but you can do shorter paths. So lovely we will come again. The cafe, coffee and cake were excellent too. Thanks to Crom / National Trust staff for ensuring this wonderful place is available for us all.

Castle ruins well with a visit and there's a long walk around the estate and Island. We didn't take a boat but you can and there's camping for tents. National Trust place, so no charge if you're a member.

5 stars is not enough! We visited the distillery on Easter Sunday, guided tour included us plus 4 other people and amazing Darragh (apologies if I misspelled the name!). We got a tasting glass as a souvenir and the tour started with a drink with ginger ale and Kilbeggan Black. For drivers - ginger ale, made with Irish apples - very tasty 😍 Darragh gave us a great tour, explaining the history, the process and being involved and very attentive to our questions! We have never been to such a historic distillery and Kilbeggan was a great choice! If you’re looking for unique experience, taste nice whiskies, learn about the distillery and its history - this is the best place in Ireland! Small, boutique place making whiskies for the local consumption ❤️ Highly recommended for whiskey lovers!

Friendly staff and interesting place to visit. We felt the tour was quite rushed and the tasting was disappointing (only one type of whiskey to taste test), although we visited in a large group towards the end of the day so this may have played a part. The bar was lovely after and we picked up a few trinkets from the gift shop. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Its a fantastic building and although I never ventured inside the outside had more than enough to catch my interest. The water being released makes for some lovely photos from across the river. It really is lovely on a sunny day. Well worth a visit even to admire from a far, enjoy

A unique distillery tour that starts with a good basic explanation of the process in a very comfortable setting. You get to walk the production floor and get to get up close the stills and tanks. Was glad to see that they take drinking and driving seriously and provided take a way bottles for the driver so they can do the dew once they get home. The smells of the bonded warehouse were amazing and we unexpectedly got to walk the dog. Shout out to Maeve thank you for the great tour. A must if your touring distillery’s in Ireland.

Our tour guide was absolutely awesome and made the experience so enjoyable to learn about the history. The tastings and overall grounds were well worth it. Although there isn’t much to do in the town, this is a favorite whiskey of mine and would love to return. Getting to make your own blend was super cool!

The Tullamore D.E.W. whiskey distillery tour was one of the best things we did while in Ireland. Starting with a warm drink with Mr. Frankie O’Callahan, the bartender , continuing with our tour guide John , and our bus driver , Jim we had the best afternoon. What started as a 2 hour tour ended up being an all afternoon adventure. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and understood whiskey. From beginning to end a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

We did the first tour of the day so it was nice that it started with a delicious Irish coffee. Our tour guide was a very friendly and engaging young lady who walked us through the process followed by a little tram ride to the warehouse and finished with a tasting of some whiskey. Would highly recommend a stop here

It is my second time doing this tour. It is very informative and cool experince. Drinking a sall sample from barrel in the warehouse is a great experince. Brendan was our guide and we had such a great time.

We had such a good time on our tour with Emma as our tour guide and Jim as our mini-tour bus driver! Our favorite tour so far - it's a bit on the pricier side at 45 euro, but it felt worth it for the experience. We got to start off the tour with an Irish coffee and overview of the whisky making process and the history of Tullamore D.E.W. Emma did a great job of keeping it fun/informative while keeping it moving and answering questions along the way. We then got to walk the still house floor, which was super cool! It was a maintenance day when we went, but it was interesting to see where and how the whisky gets distilled. Next, the snug was probably my favorite experience. The snug was hidden behind a wall of whisky barrels in the warehouse, and the "dog" that Emma used to draw whisky out of one of the barrels for a cask tasting was a cool touch. You can't take pictures in here for safety reasons (the alcohol in the air is definitely strong!), but it was definitely a cool space. Finally, the tasting of the original, rum cask, and the 12 year was great, too. The decor and the vibe in the tasting room feels almost like you're in a cozy lab. There were droppers with water to try the whisky with, after trying them neat. For those driving, they also had little bottles and funnels to pour part of the tasters into, so they could still finish enjoying the experience later. As we returned to the gift shop, we got a little demo of how the "Be the Blender" blend-your-own bottle works. Overall, I definitely recommend this tour. The people working here are super sweet and seem to enjoy what they do. Emma at the counter (a different Emma than the one who guided us on our tour) was kind enough to give us some great food recommendations in town as well.

Enjoy a royal walk within some of the most beautiful gardens. We visited on a Sunday so we didn’t get to enjoy a tour of the castle but the gardens walk was a lovely experience. The gardens are well kept and offer almost magical views and beauty! The most captivating for us was the peace and quiet during our walk. The property spans across 200 acres of land, so there is more than enough space to enjoy for everyone. The price to enter is also more than affordable and after your walk is complete, you can enjoy a nice tea at the tea room in the heart of the castle.

A Special Visit to a Truly Special Place Once again, I had the pleasure of visiting Tullynally Castle a truly lovely place that holds personal meaning as it also happens to be the ancestral homestead of my wife’s family, long before the Pakenham family took residence. Back in 2020, while researching the area for a film project, I had the pleasure of meeting Thomas Pakenham himself. Since then, I’ve returned many times, often bringing students from Spain, Italy, and France on guided tours through the gardens, woodlands, and the castle’s rich historical grounds. Today’s visit was something extra special. I returned with my wife, and after spending over three peaceful hours forest bathing in the ancient woodlands, we found ourselves completely recharged. The tranquility of the trees, the birdsong, and the timeless atmosphere truly offer something rare and healing. We rounded off the visit with a quiet moment in the cozy coffee shop, which was as welcoming and charming as ever with warm smiles, good coffee, and the scent of trees still lingering in our breath. Every visit to Tullynally is a reminder of the beauty of Irish heritage, history, and nature at its finest. Whether you're a history lover, a nature seeker, or simply in need of peace, this place never disappoints. Highly recommended.

Tullynally Castle is surrounded by twelve acres of parkland and gardens, including woodland gardens and walled gardens laid out in the early 19th century with a limestone grotto and ornamental lakes. In the former stables a lovely tearoom has been created, that serves delicious food.

Tullynally Castle was a pleasant discovery for us! Immersed in the greenery, surrounded by majestic trees, you will find this little gem still managed and inhabited by the descendants of the Family. We purchased the ticket for the castle tour and gardens. Thomas, our special guide (you'll understand why when you go) didn't hold back in sharing anecdotes and details about the family's history. Once the tour was over, we took a break in the lovely café, also run by polite and helpful staff. The gardens, our last stop of the day, left us breathless as soon as we entered. An endless expanse of greenery. You can choose from various paths to follow, which lead you to lakes, forests, or flowering gardens. We understand that managing such a large park is not easy, especially if done privately.There is the right balance between the hand of man and nature, beautiful and wild as it is. A lovely walk through the woods up to the most beautiful Castle. Café onsite, sadly we were too late, but a must if you enjoy a scenic walk.

Beautiful place! Even though the house is undergoing renovations so we couldn't visit it (and nobody advised us when we bought the tickets), the gardens are worth the whole visit. Amazing array of plants and flowers and trees, even a fairy garden for the delight of all the visitors ☺️ Super recommendable!

I recently visited Belvedere House Gardens & Park, and had a great time. First of all, staff at the entrance are helpful and attentive. They gave us a guidance map and made sure we do not miss anything. Belvedere itself is a combination of serene walking paths through the forest, and the historic charm. Ideal for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Whether you're into photography, history, nature, or just looking for a tranquil escape, Belvedere is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

It's a lovely place with beautiful scenery and walks. My favorite was the fairy garden but it's all truly worth the visit. It'll transcend you back in time.

Beautiful setting, sprawling picnic spot, lake walk, children's play area, forest walk, beautiful walled garden, fairy garden, and old architecture. Good food and area to relax. Overall experience is excellent.

Very beautiful location. Nice little outing and feeling as if in a old english series. The ice cream is really good and the staff working in the cafe are friendly and kind with the kiddies. Only drawback was that they busy doing some maintenance at the moment however it is still a lovely outing lots of little things to do at a reasonable price.

it's not cheap. Even when the main attraction - the palace - is closed, the entrance ticket price is almost the same.

Lovely place to spend Sunday afternoon with friendly bunch whilst making the bets on favourite hounds and enjoying cheeky drinks.

Restaurant is disgraceful. Doubt this place has ever had a lick of paint. Carpet is threadbare and dirty. Food horrible. I was embarrassed having brought American guests for a night out. Shame on whoever is running this business.

Been here on a few sundays. It was free entry and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately didnt win! The dinners being served looked great although I did not have any.

Great night out. Was my first time here.Had a burger as had a late dinner and was quite good.. All staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend it to everyone. Will be back again soon..

Our family had the great pleasure of spending 6 days on the southwest Ireland tour with Dave, and I can honestly say he made the trip absolutely unforgettable. I typically don’t do surveys or reviews for products and services however, I wanted to make an exception and comment on a recent trip through Wolfhound Adventure Tours (6 Day West) that I took with my wife, daughter, son-in-law, and 4 great friends (as well as 7 new friends I met on the tour). I expect a tour guide to be knowledgeable, but Dave O’Connor took it to another level. Whether it be delivering a poem, or singing a soulful Irish song, Dave impressed us all with his expertise in Irish culture, folklore, history and wildlife while demonstrating a great sense of humor. He had us laughing throughout the entire trip. It’s obvious Dave puts his heart and soul into his work and is deeply devoted and passionate about Ireland, its history, wildlife, and its people. This isn’t a typical tour. It was a wonderful whirlwind of learning, hiking, pub hopping and sightseeing which allowed us to become immersed in the Irish culture. Dave surprised us by taking us to several off the beaten path hidden gems which enhanced our experience even more. Dave took time to get to know each person in the group. He Introduced us to many Irish songs and artists including Christy Moore which I now have on my playlist. Dave has a gift of playing just the right song during each part of the tour which helps you to connect to his stories. Some of my favorite stops were Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, the Burren, Conamara, and the town of Westport. Just finished my 2nd Wolfhound Adventures tour. This time with a group of 12 friends. We booked the bus with Dave as our fearless leader. As expected, Dave did not disappoint. He’s fun, knowledgeable about Irish history, culture, politics and flora and fauna and full of great stories . It’s an active holiday with lovely accommodations . I highly recommend Dave and Wolfhound Adventure Tours for your next trip to Ireland.

Best of The Best here Dave O’Connor – Wolfhound Tours, Dublin Dave is hands down the best tour director we’ve ever had! He’s a master storyteller with incredible knowledge of Irish history, culture, and folklore. On our trip, he managed to keep a one-year-old and a 73-year-old equally happy — adjusting the itinerary, entertaining, and making sure everyone had an amazing time. Driver, guide, babysitter… Dave did it all with humor and heart. If you get the chance to tour Ireland with Dave, take it!

We went on a Southwest Adventure tour in late May 2024 and it was fabulous! Everything we wished for, and more. Small, friendly, fun, interesting...I could go on. Dave shared his amazing knowledge of nature, culture, folklore, and music in such a delightful way.
