Nestled in the vibrant city of Arnhem, the Airborne Museum Hartenstein stands as a poignant tribute to World War II's Battle of Arnhem. Set within the historic Hartenstein Villa, this museum immerses visitors in the gripping narrative of Operation Market Garden. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, featuring an array of artifacts and personal stories that bring history to life. One highlight is the Airborne Experience—a captivating interactive exhibition that transports you into the heart of battle through dramatic recreations and multimedia presentations.
Absolutely worth visiting if you are in the area. It's a really good museum and the diorama display in the basement is really well done. Definitely get the audio headset. The grounds are also very nice. The Airborne Cemetery is also a very moving place and it is only a very short drive away.

A fantastic museum. Loved the Dakota experience! Even saw an AFPU photographer manakin which was great to see as my journey to Arnhem was to Jump into Renkum as an AFPU photographer myself. I look forward to returning for the 82nd anniversary and will visit again. See photos of Manakin and myself in AFPU uniform. Go easy on the dummy jokes! 👀

We visited the Airborne Museum on Saturday and had a great experience! There weren’t many people, so there were no queues and we could take our time exploring. The museum is very well organized and informative, telling the story of Operation Market Garden and the Battle of Arnhem in an engaging way. Inside, there are authentic artifacts, uniforms, weapons, personal stories, and photographs that give a real sense of what happened during the battle. One of the highlights is the immersive light and sound show, which recreates the experience of the fighting, it’s really well done and helps you imagine what the soldiers went through. After exploring the exhibits, we went outside to the small café, which serves food and drinks.. perfect for a short break. There’s also a tank outside, great for taking pictures. Overall, a very interesting and moving museum that’s well worth a visit if you’re interested in WWII history.

An excellent museum telling the story about operation Market Garden and "A Bridge Too Far". The Arnhem experience in the basement floor is very good and the audio guide works well.
Andrew W — Google review
Excellent museum that tells the story of Arnhem. So much to see and experience, especially as the building was used as the Headquarters during the Battle. Surrounded by beautiful grounds and monuments commemorating battle. Very good shop and cafe outside.

She great place for visits- for any history enthusiasts and wide public. Important place of a battler during ww2, lots of lovely historic military stuff and absolutely stunning interactive experience down in cellar. Must see

I visited the Airborne museum at Hartenstein for the first time in Sep 2025, during a motorcycle trip from the UK. I booked in advance and the staff were helpful in changing my visit day by email. The entrance to the museum itself is accessed from the "Klein Hartenstein" restaurant so if you go into the car park of that premises which is only accessible from the main road and it is a short walk less than 200 metres to the museum. Although the building itself is relatively small there is plenty to see on the inside, with a clearly signed layout to follow and see the museum. The Airborne simulation which showed a glider borne landing which starts in a plane carriage and leads onto various simulations of battle scenes from Arnhem with lighting and sound is well worth a look. Unfortunately this one was a flying visit, I'll be back.
Andrew B — Google review
A marvellous museum that remembers the bravery, loss and sacrifice of The British. Airborne Division, The Polish Airborne Brigade and the oppressed Dutch population in September 1944. The museum also offers detailed artefacts etc of the occupying German forces. The cost in June 2025 was €16 person and this is very good value in my opinion. The museum exhibits and information are very well laid out. The staff are friendly and give advice on the museum and how to use the personal audio equipment. The gift/bookshop is well stocked. Toilets are within the building, too. As of June 2025, there is a temporary exhibit by the Netherlands Army body recovery and identification team. This is fascinating and their commitment to identifying the war dead, admirable. The battle display is very good, taking visitors through a glider landing to the eventual withdrawal across The Rhine River. It is noisy and realistic. I would highly recommend that you visit here if you have any interest whatsoever in World War Two. "Lest We Forget"

Kröller-Müller Museum

Art museum
The Kröller-Müller Museum, established in 1938, is a renowned art museum housing an exceptional private collection of late-19th-century and early-20th-century paintings. It is considered the third most important art museum in the Netherlands, featuring a notable Vincent Van Gogh collection with around 90 paintings and 180 drawings on display.
We arrived a bit late, but still managed to have a quick look at the precious collection. Although the exhibition space may not be as refined and diverse in design as the Van Gogh Museum, the collection itself is highly impressive and well worth seeing. The layout is clear and easy to follow. Outside, the vast sculpture park offers a perfect harmony between art and nature.
CY Z — Google review
The museum has the second largest Van Gogh collection in the world. There are many paintings of him. There is both closed and open air areas where you can spend a whole afternoon. Also nice cafe and restaurants. Recommended.
Murat Ö — Google review
As my friend highly recommended this museum, I decided to visit it from Amsterdam. It wasn’t too difficult to get there. When you arrive at the train station in the city where the museum is located, you can take a connecting bus directly from the station. After getting off at the final stop, just cross the street and wait at the bus stop on the other side. The bus driver mentioned that buses run twice an hour, but from my experience, you might end up waiting for as long as an hour. :) The museum itself was very nice and not too crowded. You can take your time and enjoy Vincent van Gogh’s paintings in a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The food at the restaurant was quite good — I had a hamburger, and it was tasty. Most other visitors seemed to be ordering soup, just for your information. The outdoor garden is also well known. There’s nothing particularly special about it, but it’s a pleasant place for a walk.
Lunar K — Google review
Great experience overall but entry fees to national park is separate to get to the museum which then comes out to be a bit above 26 euros combined. Free bikes to go around the national park. The Kröller Müller museum is nice as well with a vast collection of Van Gogh. Other noticable works for Paul Signac, Monet etc. Although the museum could be a bit more immersive. Overall a great daytrip in Netherlands
Dimple J — Google review
I had the chance to visit the most impressive and fascinating museum I’ve ever seen in the Netherlands — the Kröller-Müller Museum. There are incredible artworks of Vincent van Gogh, Picasso and many other painters and amazing sculptures. Sincere thanks to the museum’s management, and to Helene and Anton Kröller-Müller, whose vision and passion made this remarkable place possible. Please make your plan for whole day, not only for museum but also cafe inside and outdoor in the forest.
M. Z — Google review
So much more than a museum. Obviously the main draw to this remote location is its important collection of paintings and sculptures. But the setting is what makes it such an outstanding visit. Deep inside a huge park, you can and you should choose to reach the museum from the entrance by the white bicycles freely available to all. If the weather is nice this short (about 20 minutes) ride gets you in a jolly mood. Power up with the small but tasty menu of desserts and small plates in the restaurant. It took me 5 hours to enjoy the place.
Nikos P — Google review
The staff at the ticket counter was incredibly kind, and when my ticket was checked at the entrance, I was even given extra guidance on bicycles and detailed information about the outdoor sculpture works. Another advantage of this museum is the chance to see around 50 Van Gogh paintings all in one place—a truly remarkable experience.

Hello everyone. what’s a very interesting place and amazing art. I would recommend this to anyone and the outdoor seating area for the cafeteria was amazing as well. very Tranquill and quiet. A place I’ve been several times now in the last few years.

Airborne War Cemetery

Cemeteries
The Airborne War Cemetery is located a 20-minute walk away from Hartenstein and houses the graves of almost 2000 soldiers and airmen who fought in the Battle. It marks the frontline between Allied Forces and Germans during WWII.
Visited on an early Sunday summer morning (11.08.24). Such a beautiful cemetery, very peaceful and immaculately looked after. Only the sounds of the birds to be heard. The summer flowers were also beautiful and a wonderful contrast against the white headstones. The shadows cast by the stones were particularly emotional to see for me for some reason. Certainly recommend stopping by if you happen to be in the area. In the municipal cemetery opposite there are also 9 Commonwealth War Graves. Lest we forget 🕯
Ness R — Google review
A very impressing cemetery to visit, and to see how many soldiers are killed in action for our liberation
Hubert V — Google review
This tranquil British Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery contains the remains of 1,684 British & Commonwealth servicemen , 79 Polish servicemen and three Dutch who fell during The Battle of Arnhem in September 1944. I've never experienced such peace before, the only sound being birdsong. It was quite remarkable and stopped me in my footsteps. The cemetery is immaculately maintained. The Commonwealth servicemens' gravestones bear regimental badges, names, personal details and a family chosen inscription at the base. They are very moving. I was amazed by how many visitors of all ages there were here, even midweek. Each person seemed wrapped up in their own thoughts as they surveyed the headstones. A visitor book can be found behind the small metal door with a cross upon it, in the entrance building beside the gates. This book bears testimony to the people from all over the world who come to pay their respects here. Sadly, 243 burials remain unidentified. The Netherlands Army has a specialist body recovery and identification team who still try to put a name to all these poor individuals in order to allow closure for the fallen and their families. They deserve enormous credit that they still persist in their endeavour 80 years after the battle. In my opinion. this place of rememberance should be visited by as many people as possible. so that we never forget that they gave their today for our tomorrow. "Lest We Forget."
PW — Google review
I have come to this war cemetery since the age of 11, my Grandfather Sgt Austin Francis is buried here with many other brave men who fought and fell for our Freedom. It is a place of peace and allows me to reflect on what it cost to allow our todays. The commonwealth war graves commission keep this cemetery immaculate, not a headstone out of line or unreadable. The groundskeepers are a credit to keeping the place looking so well and show the respect our men resting deserve. If ever you find yourself near to this memorial cemetery and your own head space is struggling with the world today then grab yourself a coffee and come and sit here, it will help you think clearly and allow you to untangle your thoughts with the tranquil sounds of just birds signing between the wind in the trees.
Marc F — Google review
As with all Commonwealth War Graves Cemeteries, this merits 5 stars. Well kept beautiful, peaceful place. This place is special. Not just to the Commonwealth and Polish Airborne forces, but to the hundreds of other allied servicemen who lay here. It's also special, when you see the respect that the local Dutch people hold for our fallen. The annual flower laying by Dutch school children is a special thing to see. Flowers at every grave laid by a local schoolchild. It's amazing to see that the Dutch have not forgotten. Truly humbling. Thank you Arnhem, Driel, Nijmegen, Groesbeek, thank you Netherlands.
Paul W — Google review
Beautiful and well-maintained cemetery. A wealth of history can be learned about the Battle of Arnhem.
A D — Google review
Visited here whilst visiting the villa hartenstine, well kept memorial.
Andy H — Google review
If you're looking at the history of operation Market Garden then you need to visit this war cemetery. This brings all the information in the museums together. At the end of it all it's about the young lives from around the globe and from different beliefs that were lost. I war there are no winners, just losers.

Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe

National park
Nature & Parks
The National Park De Hoge Veluwe is a stunning natural reserve that spans an impressive 13,300 acres of diverse landscapes, including forests, heathlands, and sand dunes. Once the private estate of the Kroller-Muller family, this park now serves as a sanctuary for wildlife such as red deer and wild boar. Visitors can explore over 42 kilometers of designated cycling and walking trails that wind through picturesque pine forests and open sandy areas.
This national park is great for all kinds of visits, from family visits to solo visits and even vacation. There are plenty of free facilities for you to fill your day with excitement. You can bring your own bike or rent a free bike at the location. It is very accessible by car and there are plenty of bike in each park entrance for you to be using. You can park in a parking lot in every entrance and only paying €4.75 for a whole day! You may encounter different scenarios of wild animals, I encountered a wild boar. If you have a children, you can go to one of the playground near the large hub in the middle. You don’t need to worry about peeing there, as there is a lot of free to use bathrooms for you to enjoy in the park, as most toilet needs to pay to enter in Europe. I strongly recommend that you should bring your picnic accessories with you to picnic, as there is plenty of green grass and good view for you to picnic on.
Avery Y — Google review
Spent the whole afternoon here, biked the whole national park loop, took us about 3hrs including stops for pics and deer viewing. Scenery is super nice from lush forests to dunes and dry grasses (Safari feels!). White bikes are free! One size only for adults, good enough for me (5ft), all bikes only with footbrake :D
Gin T — Google review
The park is very beautiful, with several types of landscape, forest, veld (heather fields), dunes, lake. We did not see any wildlife, but we were not there very early, so probably not the best hours. The free white bikes helped us travel through the park - the bikes are quite basic, but well maintained and it is very welcome that the park made it part of the experience. All in all, we spent a great day at Hoge Veluwe!
Thomas V — Google review
Beautiful park with a variety of ecosystems. Very well maintained with a network of hiking and cycling paths. The restaurant at the main entrance had delicious meals. Basic bicycles wit child seats are free to use and need no booking. They also had tandum bicycles, bicycles with a wheelchair in front and electric bikes to rent.
Marika B — Google review
I was really surprised by this place which became one of my favorite at all. I didn’t expect such a beauty. The nature was so various! The dense forest, lakes, so many different trees and plants, or sand dunes… Views on all of this was truly stunning. One day is definitely not enough to thoroughly explore this place, it is so huge! You can find, after relaxing in and enjoying the wild forest, many branches where to stop and admiring the surrounding or just rest. Toilets are available as well (of course that not on many places). When i returned, I felt so replenished, so well… thank to this beautiful place!
Klara D — Google review
It is one of the best national parks with great cycling routes and museums inside the park. The greenery is utterly stunning and quite beautiful. The cafes inside offer quite good food options as well. You can get a bike inside the national park which makes the exploration quite easy and fun. Also, if lucky, one can spot deers too. Worth every penny!
Sai S — Google review
We visited the park on a sunny day, and it was nice. The free white bikes (with pedal brakes) are available at the main entrances and the museum, and cycling around was a fun way to explore. It’s easy to cover quite a bit of ground, and the landscapes change as you go, so it doesn’t feel quite boring. We didn’t see many animals, just a deer or two and some birds, but there are spots where you can sit and wait. We weren’t actively looking for wildlife, though. One thing to note is that you have to pay for the park entrance if you just want to visit the Kröller-Müller Museum, which some might find annoying. The museum itself was nice, and the sculpture garden is worth checking out. If you can, bring your own food or picnic as there are places to sit and eat. If you’re leaving through the Hoenderloo entrance, grab an ice cream from IJs van Co. It’s a sweet way to end the day.
Anjali G — Google review
Huge nature area with 40 km of cycle tracks plus loads of walking trails. Bikes are included in the entry fee. Quite expensive to take the car in but it is 3km from the entrance to the central visitor centre . Not crowded at all and open until 10pm in June and July with the restaurant serving until 9.30pm. Well worth a visit.

Africa Museum

The Africa Museum offers a diverse collection of tribal and contemporary African art and crafts, complemented by an outdoor museum featuring reconstructed villages. Visitors can explore a mix of historic African villages, artifacts, and modern identity-focused installations. During school holidays, children can participate in various activities such as creating Surinam freedom birds. Although the outdoor museum presents an unusual blend of old and modern urban Africa, it does not seamlessly integrate into one cohesive experience.
It is really a nice place. The small African Village outside and the Museum inside has a lot to say. Our weekend visit was amazing. There are also some Friendly kids places. My favourite place was the African Barber shop. The images on the Wall Reflect the real African Youth Culture. Shortly: it is a Small Great Place.
Ahmad A — Google review
A small cute museum about Africa and the past slavery. The collection is quite small but interesting. The stories about people with an emigration background is interesting. However, I found that the colonial history of Africa was too much focused on the last 100 years. It showed a map of how Africa was divided in 1914. While at this point the Netherlands was no longer in Africa (Surprise). The outside collection shows a few small villages which are interesting, beautiful and kid friendly. I think the museum has a lot of potential but can be improved. Also it sometimes lacks explanation and there is no English explanation.
F. N — Google review
The Afrika Museum is a museum about people Located in the wooded hills of Berg en Dal near Nijmegen. It has both indoor and outdoor exhibits, with regularly changing temporary exhibitions and permanent displays of traditional African objects and its large collection of contemporary African art. Objects that reflect the customs and traditions of different African peoples. They tell stories about universal human themes like mourning, celebration, ornamentation, prayer, conflict; stories that inspire visitors to find out more about the huge cultural diversity to be found in the world. Most of the exhibits are in Dutch and German. But there are English audio options for some of the exhibits. Outdoor exhibits are worth visiting with children. It is good to rent a bike from Centraal Station if you are visiting via public transport. If you take a bus still you will have to walk around 2 kms to reach the place.
Rajeeva N — Google review
Limited English explanations but a good way to see what your European ancestors did (unfortunately).

Very big museum. I recommend going there. Also there is an outdoor exhibition and garden with sculptures.
Adrie H — Google review
An interesting museum about Africa tucked away in a fairly remote corner of the Netherlands. Worth a visit especially if you have kids since they are a lot of fun child friendly activities integrated into the muse experience. One minor drawback is that most of the exhibits are in Dutch and German. There is an audio-guide in English but it doesn't give a complete overview of everything.
Kiranhamilton — Google review
You will see and experience the real life of African, from East to West, North to South, completely wrapped in this museum. They have quite nice and amazing collection, also miniatur of typical African house from different countries in Africa Quite huge park to walk around, we were there when the weather was quite hot, around 31°C. So we felt the heat just like in Africa
Marina R — Google review
Nice museum, friendly people. Mix of historic African villages and artefacts with modern identity oriented installations. Kids activities during school holidays, like making Surinam freedom birds, see picture. The outdoor museum is a bit of a weird mix of old and modern urban Africa. This is not really working as one experience. We dearly missed the pygmee village in the forest. Our girls always played such a nice games there. It's all gone. Such a pity. The outdoor games are fun. Coffee a bit old from the thermos, but gift shop, visitors and people all friendly.
Christy D — Google review
I loved the open air section of the museum. The indoor museum is interesting but does not cover as much as I'd hoped or expected. Definitely worth a visit in though!
Eric L — Google review
A collection of different houses and villages from all over Africa. Mildly interesting. They also have some nice modern sculptures which I quite liked. Also the indoor exhibiting had some nice pieces. You could do some stone carving.

We spent a fantastic morning and afternoon with Bert. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide and very knowledgeable. My own research revolves around my Grandfather who was in the area during February 1945 for operation veritable with the 61st Highland Anti Tank Regiment attached to the 51st Highland Division. The regiment is not hugely recognised in today's history however Bert took us some locations with the use of coordinates from the regimental war diaries. He supplied us with refreshments, liberation tours t-shirts which was greatly appreciated. Great tour, great guy and we highly recommend Bert for anyone interest in operation market garden or veritable👍🏻

In July we had my brother in law and his girlfriend over from the US. Since we live in a historically significant area due to WWII, specifically Operation Marked Garden, we had thought about a liberation tour for several years. This year we actually plannend a tour with Bert. It was an incredibly informative, interesting and exciting tour. Bert has a lot of photo's and maps to make many many local stories come to live. It was very special having this significant history for both our countries (NL and the US) explained in depth at the actual sights where it all happened AND where we libe. Bert has a lot of enthusiasm, knowledge and patience (for our many, many questions). Finally, our dog Loved Bert and he seemed to enjoy her company too, not unimportant 😉 we would definitely suggest this tour to anywone who has any interest in WWII or Dutch historie in general!!!

On Saturday 23rd of July 2022 I did a private tour with Mr. Bert Eikelenboom, for the duration of 6 hours. Excellent guided battlefield tour specifically focussing on the operational area(s) of the 82nd Airborne division ("All American Division") of the US army in World War 2 during the battle of Market-Garden at Nijmegen and it's surrounding villages and terrain. Mr. Bert Eikelenboom ("Liberation Tour") is well prepared and very knowledgeable about the battle(s) fought and supports his story with maps, photo's, video's and - above all - detailed stories of the soldiers who have fought for our freedom. Sparring and discussing the batlle and situations where the allied and German soldiers found themselves in was great. It's quite rare to find someone as well informed as Bert. I would also recommend his tour to people whom are less (or maybe even have no knowledge at all) informed about World War II. Bert is able to help people understand the greater picture of the battles fought. As a registered guide of the Guild of Battlefield Guides he is also able to relate to his customer(s) / audience and thus he is able to relate to both young and old, experience / well informed people and persons with no or little in depth knowledge.

Great experience together with friends! Bert has a lot of knowledge about the area and it's rich history regarding WWII.

This is because we come from the region ourselves and were particularly interested in a number of specific locations. Bert responded to this and gave us an adapted program. Can recommend it to anyone who is interested in what happened here in the region during WWII. Tnx Bert 👌🏼 (Original) Super informatieve dag. Step into the past at Arnhem's Oorlogsmuseum 40-45, a hidden gem nestled in a former village school on the outskirts of Arnhem. This private museum, established in 1994, offers an extensive array of artifacts from World War II, including uniforms, weapons, and documents that tell the poignant stories of those who lived through this tumultuous time.
A private collection of artefacts from the 2nd WW. It’s a huge and very interesting collection with things from the 2nd WorldWar you can’t find somewhere else. The staff is very helpful, friendly and can tell a lot of stories. And to process all the impressions a little café is waiting at the end. There is also a small shop for buying collectible items. It’s a 10/10 and a RECOMMENDATION.

Loads of different items to look at ranging from medals through to a plane and a tank with everything in between. It takes around 90 mins to 2 hours to have a look around I would say. There are generally English translations on most displays but not everywhere. It was €48 for two adults and three children when I visited. There's also a gift shop and cafe at the end, and also a military souvenir shop separately. Decent size free car park available.

Fabulous! Far bigger than it looks Not fancy but factual, we had a young, very knowledgeable guide walking with us and explaining everything as he had the time on a very rainy day Thanks Tom!

First time visit...during 4 & 5 May WW2 commemoration. This museum has an amazing collection of WW2 artifacts, pictures, uniforms and memorabilia..there is lots to see. Friendly staf and parking is nearby

An extraordinary collection of WW2 artefacts that at times is overwhelming but still fascinating. It ranges from a bullet to a plane and everything in between. Some nice stuff from The Netherlands that is non military

Good museum with lots to see, but very small and you walk through it very quickly

Visited July 8, 2025. If you are visiting Arnhem for WW2 reasons then you MUST go to this museum. This museum is way better than your average tourist Museum. If you are an Operation Market Garden nerd than this is it.

Beautiful, serene, well groomed and excellently maintained memorial park. A fitting place to honour our young soldiers who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. The commemorative and visitors books are not too be missed. Thanks to the Dutch government for this priceless gift.

Museum with a parachute-shaped venue & exhibits on the liberation of the Netherlands in WWII.
Highly recommend a visit to this museum which gets you thinking & discussing with companions the parallels of 80-90 year ago with today. I particularly like this format, rather than traipsing round looking at objects, you find yourself drawn into the stories behind them & think of how today, images & words can be used to sell a narrative. The staff are superb, extremely helpful & provide an insight to the experience before you begin your visit. One of our party is disabled & he was offered the use of a wheelchair for the trip. A visit here should certainly be on your itinerary, your brain will thank you for its Spring Clean.

Great Museum. Very interesting permanent exhibition, excellent temporary ones. Very educational and entertaining at the same time. Great guides. Charming, knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit or two.

Best museum that we visited in the Arnhem and Nijmegen area. Very thought provoking detailing the world leading up to WW2, the Occupation, Market Garden and post war.

If you are at all interested in world war 2 and operation Market Garden then this museum is a most see. What was really impressive, and even slightly scary, was sitting in the replica bomb shelter listening to a bombing raid directly overhead. The museum staff were exceptionally friendly and as I arrived early on a normal working day, I had the entire museum almost for myself. For the real enthusiastic world war 2 visitor, I would recommend combining this visit to the airborne museum, another exceptional museum, just outside Arnhem

Happened to visit on Liberation Day with plenty going on. Interested particularly in Operation Veritable, finding a long lost relative on the Roll of Honour was a highlight. Particularly enjoyed hunting down the spies in an escape room type interactive area before joining the main museum. Took the jeep tour around the 82nd landing zones, then went on to visit the Reichwold Forest. Also interested in the Market Garden related exhibits, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

Very informative and nice museum. You can see how much effort they put into this museum. Highly recommend this.

The Freedom Museum explains very well the causes, conflict and outcome of World War Two with a particular focus on Operation Market Garden. The events of the Paratrooper landing and battles which ensued, as well as the civilian experience of war and resistance are very well exhibited. The array of items and audio visual experiences I saw are some of the best I've seen from a war museum. For only 8 euros as a student and a WW2 reader, it was money very well spent. Special thanks to the Stagg and their expertise and passion for keeping the museum's message of liberation alive.

Burgers' Zoo

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Burgers' Zoo is a remarkable destination that offers visitors an immersive experience into the world of wildlife, showcasing animals in environments that closely resemble their natural habitats. Spanning an impressive 45 hectares, this expansive zoo features diverse ecosystems including a safari park, indoor tropical rainforest, and even a seawater aquarium. Each exhibit is thoughtfully designed to cater to various rare species from around the globe, making it not just a zoo but also a conservation-focused sanctuary.
Not a massive fan of zoos but I think this one is done very well, and for the right reasons. The different sections felt very well done, you immerse yourself into the various climates of where the animals live. The information about the various wildlife was also well spread and accessible. I also think the information about the elderly elephant is handled appropriately. A decently large walk if you want to visit everything, which speaks well to the amount of space the animals are given. The animals don't appear as distressed as I've seen in other zoos.
Hubert M — Google review
This is a wonderful zoo, one of the best I have visited in Europe. The forest in the middle of the park is amazing and very diverse in terms of plants and animals, and there's also a waterfall. A lot of animals had newborns, which was very cute. The sea zone was very beautiful, of course limited in size as it is not the main focus of the park (if you like water animals, make sure you visit the one in Barcelona). Downsides: too many people which created crowds, and no staff around the park to help.
Scarlett O — Google review
Such a beautiful and fun zoo! Would definitely recommend for adults and for children. As an adult that likes to go to zoo’s that are not just for kids, this is a great pick! A full day is needed to visit here and be prepared for different types of biomes, this is the most interesting ! There are restaurants located around, and I would recommend the Bush restaurant! The food is quite pricy for what it is.
Taya M — Google review
Amazing!!! The first steps didn’t seem like it will be much yet quickly we realized how well thought is whole place. Really you see the animals and theirs wellbeing is the highest priority. Still all is designed in such smart way that you able to observe them in awe! True treat for families but I guess it’s also a great idea for a date or solo experience. Enjoyed tons🙌🏼 There are parts of it fully in dome that creates full experience of natural habitats- if you don’t look up it’s easily to feel like in a jungle or on some tropical place. Amazing!

I went their with my wife and daughter( 2 years old). The park has huge car parking (paid) with electric car chargers. Overall the park is huge and very well built. There are enough benches to sit and observe. The observation decks are very well positioned, and the safari restaurant has amazing views of the African safari lands. Their is great variety of food options, even for kids. The food was lekker. Overall the entire experience was just amazing.
Himanshu Y — Google review
This was a wonderful zoo experience. One the rare “cageless” habitats and it was wonderful to see the animals roam around in rather large habitats. Beautifully designed, and aesthetically pleasing. Parking costs 9 EUR and approx 29 EUR for a single ticket for adults. It can take somewhere between 3-4 hours to leisurely see all exhibits
Gaurav R — Google review
Always nice to go here..! Is calm and peaceful… The animals are well taken care of and monkeys are my favorite! Mangrove is my favorite place to visit… It a nice funny cute and a great zoo to visit
GJ — Google review
It is an interesting Zoo which offers animal as much nature space as possible. With the map you can explore all different parts of the zoo. But with the open nature it also creates some challenges, it might be sometime difficult to trace where the animals are, which brings down the experience slightly. Quite some food choices inside the canteen and plenty of paid parking space inside as well

Nature & Parks
Park Sonsbeek is a vast expanse of parkland and gardens featuring an 18th-century mansion, fountains, and a water mill. It offers beautiful cycling and walking paths in the surrounding area of Arnhem. The park overlooks the city from a hilltop, providing an ideal spot for picnics. Additionally, visitors can enjoy lunch at The Stadsvilla Sonsbeek located within the park or explore the Watermuseum at its base.
This park combines the forest with the metro and the Great landscape all at once. A great for a walk or cycle, even a bit of romance is fine. You will meet with positive-minded people here. The place to come to. Highly recommended 👌

Wonderful park that gets quiet when you go deeper, and you can also walk the dog without a leash there. Usually you'll be able to spot some swans and in spring many birds are giving their hatchlings swimming lessons.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the country's history, with guides dressed in period costumes bringing the past to life. Spanning 44 hectares, this living museum features a diverse collection of historic structures from different regions of the Netherlands.
It was worth the visit, the place is huge and every nook and corner has something to offer. Beautifully managed surroundings, family picnic is a great option, kids of all ages and even adults can easily find things to amuse them. History is depicted and preserved in a very nice manner.

Incredible experience! So much amazing history to discover and many interactive exhibits like the weavers and the blacksmiths. The grounds are stunning and expansive. You can tour the grounds on the trolley which is super fun for kids. There is an entire section of the ground dedicated to kids activities. The restaurant and Cafe was really nice with many vegan options including pastries! The gift shop is very nice with many good Dutch gifts.

In my opinion the best museum in the Netherlands, bar none. Well worth the ticket price and whatever the train costs coming here. The entire museum is extremely well maintained. Facilities are unbelievably sanitary. The food served in the "restaurant corner" of the museum is reasonably priced and mouth-watering good. The fries are a must try. The exhibits offer a detailed look into history, with content written in both Dutch and English. The experience is thoughtfully divided into sectors, each containing exhibits from different time periods. Historic trams run frequent headways in a circular route around the museum. These are free to board and a wonderful way to have a look around. Of course, the museum is 100% walkable. 10/10 experience. The day went by in a flash - will be back.

The Netherlands Open Air Museum in Arnhem is a fantastic destination for families with children. The open layout gives kids plenty of space to run and explore, and there’s something exciting to discover around every corner—from old windmills and traditional farmhouses to vintage trams that take you around the museum grounds. It feels like stepping into a living storybook of Dutch history. What really makes it special for children is how interactive and hands-on everything is. There are live demonstrations of old crafts like weaving, blacksmithing, and even bread baking—many of which kids can try themselves. Throughout the museum, staff dressed in historical clothing bring the past to life with friendly explanations and fun activities. There’s also a playground area and child-friendly exhibits that keep little ones engaged and curious. The museum is very well-organized, with clean facilities, family-friendly paths for strollers, and several places to eat or picnic. It’s the kind of place where both kids and adults can learn, play, and enjoy a full day outdoors together. If you’re visiting the Netherlands with your family, this museum is an absolute must-see!

Lovely place in Holland. If you have the museum card and you go with your family, this is a great place to spend the day at. The nature is beautiful, the tram is fun for the kids, you could see farm animals and enjoy the different family activities. I love the Dutch concept of having open air museums where you can see the history of the country.
ALMUDENA S — Google review
Beautiful museum about Dutch history and how people were living in the past century. We visited during a busy weekend but because the size of the park it does not feel crowded. A tram can be used to travel quickly from one location to another. Not only the buildings are in perfect condition, but also the landscape, the gardens, the trams etc. are well maintained. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice, and quite big petting zoo with some additional attractions for kids. A lot of beautiful animals (there are machines where you can buy corn to feed animals for 0,50€/handful), small restaurant and amusement area with toy automats, air hokey and so on

Nice farm with many donkeys that can be ridden. This place is perfect for children, all the animals there are very friendly, you can go next to them and pet them. There is also food available for the animals if you want to feed them, for a fee. We had a half an hour tour with the donkey, it was nice but the donkey wanted to eat grass all the way and he was also very stubborn so we had to leave him eating as long as he wanted. Overall a funny experience.

Veluwse Bron is a popular wellness destination with a variety of saunas and good food. While some visitors recommend bringing your own sandals and robe to save on costs, others have had negative experiences with the massage service. However, many guests have enjoyed their time at Veluwse Bron, praising the well-maintained facilities, friendly staff, and serene atmosphere. Despite occasional disappointments with the food offerings, the overall experience is often described as tranquil and rejuvenating.
Favourite wellness for more than 8 years already. Lovely place where your body and soul can relax and fully recharge. Great facilities and kitchen.

A lot of different saunas and pools, plus activities and massage options. Clean and spacious. Great outdoor section: excellent on warm days with a large terrace for food and drinks, outdoor sunbeds with great nature views and even a small beach. Aside from the regular dining there is also an Italian restaurant. Free to use soap and shampoo/conditioner. Only downside is the food and drinks are quite expensive, as well as the items for rent. Food Quality is good though.
M. B — Google review
Honestly I find hard to believe all those 1* and 2* reviews... We visited on a Sunday, and everything was absolutely as expected. The place was clean, plenty of staff around to clean and maintain during the day. The complex is really big and even during a busy day like today, there was plenty of room in most of the saunas and even a few with no one inside , except us. Food and portion sizes were great ( had the Poke Bowl ) and the reviews complaining about prices have obviously never been to a sauna in the Netherlands. The prices are absolutely normal for a sauna complex in the Netherlands. ( Not cheap but definitely not over the top expensive 52 euro for 2 mains , 3 drinks and portion of fries) A few restaurants to choose from (so not just 1 ) with variety in the menus. Beautiful and large garden, with access to swim in the lake. Couldn't ask for more! We had a wonderful day, felt relaxed at the end, and we will definitely come again!
Dragos A — Google review
Absolutely wonderful and charming place to relax. I have been to several places like that in Europe, but this is is by far my favorite. Treatments are top notch, customer service is attentive, friendly and helpful. The rooms are facilities are designed in such a way you can totally relax and switch your brain off. The location at the lake is charming and makes you want to grab a book by the lake to read, or just peacefully take a refreshing nap. One small improvement point is the service at the restaurant - it can be tad bit slow sometimes, even if it's not very busy. Waiting 15 minutes for a cup of coffee is not desirable. But that is the only point, th rest is absolutely amazing!
Aleksandra P — Google review
I have visited most of the big saunas in The Netherlands and Veluwse Brons experience exceeding my expectations. The nature is wonderful, the staff very pleasant and helpful but this is the first spa in years where I can enjoy the peace and quiet. Guests are respectful and do not speak loudly. Yes, there is room for improvement on the renovation side, here and there but this place is one of the best sauna I have been to. Also, the 'opgieting' from sauna master Harold was the cherry on a delicious cake. What an experience! He was funny and skilled, the mint crystals on the sauna heater and the way he made everyone participate and enjoy the session was incredible. By far, the best of over 500 opgieting I have had in my life. It was so worth it that I had to ask for his name as I want you all to be aware that if you ever get the chance to have Harold as your saunamaster, you will never forget the experience. Enjoy! Such moments are rare!

Celebrated my partner’s birthday here and had a lovely time! Honestly all staff members were kind, attentive, and courteous. It wasn’t too busy on a swimwear day so we enjoyed some tranquility, delicious food, and well-maintained spa premises. Recommended!

I really enjoyed my time here, as it was very relaxing. The warm baths like the lagune were my favourite. The food was very good and we got a good deal from the site. The renting of the bathrobes and bath towels was quite pricey though, and I recommend bringing your own. I liked the bracelets and how it was used to lock/unlock the lockers and to purchase food. Overall good experience.
Yen R — Google review
Horrible wellness experience We booked what we thought would be a relaxing wellness day and an anti-stress treatment to celebrate our anniversary. Instead, it turned into a stressful and disappointing experience. On the way from Amsterdam, our car broke down. We immediately reached out to let the spa know we would arrive 1.5 hours later. About 20 minutes before arrival, someone from the spa called us: we explained that we were 20 minutes away and asked if that was fine. The staff member confirmed it was. When we finally arrived, excited for our 75-minute anti-stress treatment, the receptionists casually informed us we could only catch the last 30 minutes. When we asked to reschedule or receive a refund, they flatly refused. We never received any notification (by phone or email) about the timing of the treatment, and the booking confirmation clearly stated that procedures should be scheduled at the reception desk. Instead of showing any flexibility or empathy, the reception staff became defensive, looking for loopholes not to help us. To make matters worse, after this frustrating interaction, I was shouted at in the (empty!) dressing room for simply turning off my phone sound. Hardly the kind of atmosphere you expect when you pay for “wellness” and “anti-stress.” In the end, we received only 15 minutes of a so-called anti-stress massage, our anniversary was ruined, and the experience even triggered a panic attack for me. For €330, we essentially paid for an argument and a spoiled day.
Regina R — Google review
Overall, the experience wasn’t to write home about. The place is a little bit outdated, and in quite desperate need of renovations and modernisations. Although it is highly rated by most people that visited here, I expected more to be honest. Besides that the place is overcrowded which means that any privacy is absolutely zero it feels cramped inside. The hotel breakfast the following morning almost looked like a warzone. People were stumbling over each other to grab the last bit of meat and at no point it felt comfortable. Maybe I live in a different time zone, or in the land of plenty, but this was a first but definitely also my last visit. The Grotto - which is really nice - unfortunately will not change that I am afraid.
René T — Google review
Sounds like a joke but one couldn’t reach them (hotel and wellness center) on Saturday 4pm for booking with a phone number mentioned — Edited my review to add stars thanks to the hotel service - really impressive; nice and pleasant restaurant with good service - both Njoy and hotel one. Eventually we enjoyed the stay on the hotel and Terme as well. But points to improve still: customer service line accessibility and Terme personnel communication (we found them a bit rude)
L P — Google review
Update: the quality Manager got in touch. So at least they are caring... It started all with what was meant to be a lovely couple prolonged weekend in a suite in the hotel of the thermal bath in Bussloo. First of all, the thermal bath in terms of cleanness and service are really a joy and can be rated with a 5 out of 5. The same applies to the restaurant intense, which would be even a 6 out of 5. The staff there is amazing. Unfortunately, this high score does not apply to the hotel and the service of the hotel. When we arrived at around 5pm, the staff asked if it was the first stay in the hotel. Although we said that it was, the lady did not provide any further information. An older couple departing gave us a hint to ask for the wifi password, which was the first indicator of an insufficient service level. To be fair, around half of the staff at the check-in point and the concierge service are great, but the other half should not be working in direct contact with guests. We complained that the curtains once opened by remote control could not be closed again. A big issue as everybody could see into the bedroom of our suite from the outside car parking. They took note, but it took 24 hours before they could repair it. Also, the air condition only blew warm, humid air. Although we complained, the house keeping insisted it worked. That was possibly the issue for the next problem. The ceiling in the bathroom was full of mold. One could see that they tried to remove it some time before, but without decent products, it would always come back. I am still sure the problem lies in the not well working air condition. Lastly, the floor peeled off. I documented all with the attached photos (and I still have some more). So all in all, the prolonged weekend trip for 3 nights was more than 1.300 Euro expensive, and as we complained, we got 80 Euros refunded. No sorry from the management, no offer to change the room, nothing. So all together very disappointing and no value for money. Thermal Spa on its own I can recommend as well as the restaurant. But the hotel and some of its staff is a big disappointment, if you want to spend a silent couple weekend, go to a different hotel.
Claus B — Google review
Really underwhelming experience to say the least ! A supposedly relaxing weekend turned into a “I can’t wait for this to be over” moment. The place was overly crowded leaving no room for relaxation, the food at intens restaurant was a bit of a joke (supposedly fine dine but still none of the courses had any special taste) and the hotel staff were totally indifferent on accommodating our requests . Gives an overall bad taste on the whole Thermen chain and will be heavily avoided from now on !

really beautiful from the outside, but the inside was unexpected. the inside was decorated with modern/experimental art but there were some rooms that explained the castle’s history which was super interesting. you could also take a narrow brick stair case to the top so you could see the view from atop which was really pretty.

Castle was beautiful, but had the weirdest "art" show I've ever witnessed. Couldn't see the inside of the castle, even though we paid tickets, without walking in to the room with people sitting in corners crying or breathing in to microphones. Completely ruined the experience of a midevil castle and a complete waste of money.
Reghardt S — Google review
beautiful gardens! However the restoration of the castle leaves much to be desired. The art and interior style did not really appeal to us. but the surroundings are beautiful. We were to early to see the hydrangea collection in bloom, but the rhododendron were lovely

Very beautiful castle, gorgeous garden, super nice place to walk around and enjoy the nature, but inside of castle is disappointing. New modern art museum inside, totally not my style and some artist's skupture exhibition, not very beautiful. We went to that castle with expectation to see how was castle hundreds years ago, how people lived, how it looked like, to feel that spirit. Inside is completely white everything renovated, feel like normal building. 😕

Lots of galleries, beautiful gardens and interesting history. Popular for weddings and birthdays.

The castle itself is pretty. It just feels a bit empty on some parts and I whish there is more of history background. The voucher in café is great. You get drinks for a cheap with it :)
Ema V — Google review
Gardens very nice, quirky herb gardens, art installations in gardens also quite appealing. Castle itself very pretty. Outside is keept old, inside renovated to modern standards in order to hold the art exhibitions. It is very unique taste of art, not to everybody's taste, but culturally important milestone.

Kasteel Huis Bergh is a 13th-century fortified castle located in s Heerenbergh, owned by the affluent van Bergh family who held significant positions in both the church and state. This moated castle boasts tastefully landscaped gardens and an impressive collection of medieval art, including early Italian paintings and rare handwritten manuscripts. The castle also offers visitors a special audio guide with various child-friendly tasks for younger guests to enjoy.
Stumbled upon this by chance, really glad we did,it’s a lovely slice of history and one man’s vision and collection of medieval art and artefacts. Included in the price is a guided tour of the tower which is certainly worth the climb up the narrow stairs.

Actually it is closed because of renovation but we'll come back as soon as they open again in 2026. Nice location, good restaurant with nicely presented dishes next to the castle.

Wow!!! I didn't expect to see here such a great collection of the middle ages art. The castle itself very beautiful, so don't forget to take camera. They also have a special audio guide with tasks (from 8 y.o.) for children. There is a cafe in the castle's yard.

Very nice town and castle to visit. One of the oldest in The Netherlands. Very interesting history, especially for people interested in old coins, as it used to be owned by the family that also ran the local Mint, which is across the street. Also the place where a witch was condemned to death in the Middle Ages, which was a rare event in The Netherlands. From here it is a short drive to where the Rhine River enters The Netherlands. Worth a visit. Oh, and did I mention they brew their own beers there? Worth a try!

Nice old castle with an exhibition of medieval art. You can get a (free) tour of the tower with some very nice views and a visit to the weapons room. Beautiful garden as well.

Fantastic castle. Working time was untill 16:30 so we have not managed to get inside but still being outside was impresive. There us a cafe with good offer of food and beer

What a stunning place to visit. The castle is located near the Dutch/German border in a beautiful surrounding. The castle harbours a fantastic collection, gathered by the Van Heek family. If you love ancient buildings, history, paintings and antique, you should place the castle on your to visit list.

Musea Zutphen

Specialty Museums
Musea Zutphen is a must-visit destination in the Gelderland province, offering a blend of history and art. The Oude Bornhof, dating back to 1320, is the largest and oldest courtyard in Zutphen, providing a serene escape with its green yard and ornate gate. The museum itself has recently merged three museums into one, offering a free audio guide in Dutch, English, and German.
This place is lovely but the staff here stole the show! They were so wonderful friendly kind and helpful! Well worth visiting!

Museum Henriette Polak is a museum for Dutch modern-classical painting and sculpture. The museum is not very big, so you can get a good look at the collection in a few hours. In one room, you can make your own selection of four works from the entire collection and project them on a wall.
Freek B — Google review
If there's one thing the Gelderland province doesn't lack are good museums, and this one is not an exception. In fact they just recently merged three museums into one and are now providing a free audio guide in Dutch, English and German. The whole flow of the place is good where you start in the basement and get down and dirty with the ice age remains, together with stone age, bronze age and the viking invasion which was pretty brutal. Moving to the upper floor the flow breaks and in fact we found ourselves in an extremely exciting room with a video taking the visitor through the different paintings in the room accross Zutphen's history. This room lights one painting at the time, in an synchronised play together with the video. Brilliant idea, but not very practical for such small room. Room should be bigger, and narration should be present in the video. The rest of the artifacts from the museum dedicated to Zutphen's history are indeed magnificent and even the red circular furtinure designed to showcase all these objects is a piece of art in itself. Moving on to the upper floor the permanent exhibition on Henriette Polak is a must, together with the adjacent collection which it was not clear if it was permanent collection or not. One thing is for sure, we found ourselves overwhelmed with some many great pieces that we did not had enough time for them all. So when we found the "email yourself your own part of the exhibit" screens it was really nice. Impressive part. We had no time for the temporary exhibit downstairs and went straight to the Museum Café, since according to the lady at the reception, we had some sort of discount there. The place is gorgeous, but it was closing so we just had time for a quick tea. Apparently the discount was on the salmon sandwich, which we weren't very fond of.
M C — Google review
Nice Museum with friendly staff and an English audioguide though only for the historic collection and only for a few exhibits. The rare letter of indulgence is alone worth the visit

Land Jan Klaassen

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Land Jan Klaassen, located near the town of Doetinchem, is a large adventure playground with over 60 pieces of equipment for kids to enjoy. The park features a little train that runs through it and offers a water playground during the summer. Indoors, there's a bouncy castle, mazes, air monorail paddle cars, a kids disco, miniature train, and climbing area. Additionally, visitors can watch puppet shows multiple times per day in the theater.
Great amusement park for small children, they have a indoor play area with a train and a monorail and lots more, and they have a really fun puppet show. Outside they have tons of stuff to do, also a train and a big slide. The people working here are super friendly and the park looks very clean and everything looked awesome. Prices for entry but also foods and drinks are very good. My kid had a blast, gonna revisit for sure.
Eric E — Google review
A good place for a day of activities focused on (young) kids, indoor and (more) outdoor. The puppet shows (in Dutch) are excellent, the staff very entertaining and kids oriented. Everything is well maintained.
Arjan S — Google review
Very enjoyable day my daughter didn’t want to go back home. The waterfall slide was very exciting. There are also spooky house and some spooky stuff for the ones who loves scary things.
Shiva — Google review
If you (or the children) like slides then this is ok. Not much variety in things to do. Was however very busy so guess it works for some :). And the parents have to pay - when there's absolutely nothing there to do. Of course the food and drinks were also expensive - the schnitzel was atrocious. Simply put a waste of money.
Ikenna N — Google review
Good place for kids day out with lots of attractions.
Abidemi E — Google review
Awesome place to spend a family day. Attractions and installations are well kept, people are nice and the food is delicious. The parking lot is big enough so you do not have to worry about your car.
Mic M — Google review
A heaven for kids, massive playground with a puppet theater (in Dutch). Plenty of sitting place. Most are manual play with the big slide as the highlight. The only things running on electricity are the trains (outside and inside), the music at the disco and the pump for water playground. The puppet theater is a big hits for my daughter; we went to every show (three times a day at 12:00, 14:00, 15:30; different stories) during our two-days visit. The staffs are young and very friendly; they also help create the great atmosphere and experience for the kids. This kind of park is usually for kids up to 12 years of age, but the prime ages for best experience here, I think, are 4-8 years.

Lovely nostalgic theme park. Lots of character, and amazingly friendly and dedicated staff. Lovely well thought out lounge areas with shade and plenty of seats and bean bags. MORE Museum, located in Gorssel, Netherlands, is a specialized museum showcasing modern realist paintings primarily by Dutch artists. The museum offers a captivating display of paintings and exhibits that evoke a range of emotions with their unbelievable realism. While the location may not be very convenient for some, visitors find the experience to be entirely worth it. The museum also accommodates families with young children, providing a quiet and elegant atmosphere that allows for an enjoyable visit even with infants.
Great place, lots of spaces exhibition rooms. Perfect restaurant with pleasant staff. Accessible for all. Located interesting area.
John K — Google review
Museum MORE has become one of my family’s favorite museums in the region, and this was our second visit within a year! Even though the scale of the museum is relatively small, but it has a very tasteful permanent collection, accompanied by interesting, thought-provoking exhibitions all year round. Since we have a 6-year-old, we always pay particular attention to how a museum caters to children and try to get them involved in the art world. Museum MORE has a dedicated, beautiful space just for children visitors to be artsy and creative. They also provide guides, fun activities, ample coloring pencils and clipboards, encouraging and guiding the children to explore the museum space at their own pace and according to their own interest. Besides its exquisite art collection, the beautiful architecture itself, both exterior and interior, also deserves to be mentioned. There’s something magical about the way light floods in through those huge glass windows and ceiling, making the whole space feel open, bright, and full of life. The museum shop near the entrance also has a very good selection of books and all kinds of items for audience of all ages. If you are a modern/contemporary art lover and happens to be in or around Gorssel, it’s definitely worth your while to check this place out!

Always something interesting to see here. We all enjoyed the exhibit from Erik Mattijssen a lot especially. Not too big either which I like.

Great museum in the small town of Gorssel. The permanent collection didn't inspire me too much. Some interesting works were on display. However, the exposition by Cornelis Völker is excellent, very inspiring and comprehensive collection of paintings with relevant themes. Very seldom to see a modern artist portrait the world so simply, yet so accurate.

Beautiful museum, set in a very pretty little village. The permanent artwork and the guest exhibition were both amazing Will visit again for sure

Excellent collection of modern realism painting and sculpture by Dutch artists. I loved some paintings, but a few sculptures look scurry as from horror movies. Permanent collection is big, and there is an exhibition. Parking is big and free. Stuff is very friendly and supportive. The museum has access for wheel chairs.

Museum MORE is a Dutch museum in Gorssel, Netherlands. The display of the paintings and exhibits it is totally worth it, even though the location of the museum is not very convenient and takes some time to travel. The paintings guide you through a diversity of emotions and the realism of the exhibits is unbelievable. Museumkaart is valid for a discount on the entrance ticket. I enjoyed my visit here and do recommend to add the museum on to visit list in Netherlands.

Seasonal, family-friendly amusement park with more than 40 rides, hotels & themed bars.
Loved it here perfect for children & families very clean safe and the staff were so helpful friendly and kind. The food was really nice and there was plenty of choice. Ice cream, soft drinks and tasty chips available in the theme park. Even on a busy Bank Holiday the ques for all the rides weren't too busy and it was easy to get from the dance event to the rooms & the dinning area. The buildings were really interesting and the location along the river was super 👌 Room was clean, beds really comfie, we had a great time, will definitely be back.

I can find a single reason why I would stay there again. The place is completely rund down. If I had to guess, the last renovation was in the 90s. Even if people like the wrecked rundown 90s charm, for what it is, it's way to expensive.

Generously proportioned rooms, a variety of large public areas inside and out. Excellent food for the most part, the only exception to that were the desserts. For kids though, a variety of ice-cream plus whipped cream can't be beat. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. We also visited the attached theme park and were very happy. Definitely worth a return visit.

Prince Leopold's English-style gardens, built in 1893, with a naturalistic wild animal attraction.
Great place to relax and see and photograph animals. When the lynx and wolf are fed you can take very nice pictures!
Richard H — Google review
It's a good size zoo with decent variation. A lot of trees and no concrete/stone walkways (all gravel) except for one area around a little snack hut. The animal habitats are nice and open so no lions behind glass or anything like that. Only downside to this is the animals have plenty of space to hide so you might not get to see everything. There could be a bit more places to get some food or a drink since there is 1 spot near the entrance that is not part of the zoo itself, then the little snack hut and I think a restaurant across it (closed when we were there), this means everything is at the entrance so no drinks or anything at the other side of the park.
Aaron J — Google review
Probably the best zoo/wild park I have ever visited. The wild park is very large with a lot of different animals. I would even recommend going there for a walk. It is located in the woods and there are many paths you can take. Plus you get to look at adorable animals. Even though we went in the winter, a lot of animals could be seen outside of their closure. Those that preferred to keep warm were sleeping inside. However, unlike a lot of zoos, you can see inside all the enclosures. It was adorable watching the sleepy foxes and raccoons all cuddles up. All the enclosures are very large and natural. Most of the time it is just a caged off area in the woods. Both the wolves and otters had the longest enclosure I have ever seen. This zoo is very friendly and takes good care of the animals. The only hurt animal we noticed was one of the wolves, who seemingly got bitten by one of its mates. But the wound seemed very fresh, so I think/hope they took care of it and it still had to heal. The staff was very friendly and the ticket is totally worth the price! Good to know: 1. you can not bring a dog with you. It says so clearly on the site but I saw a lot of complaints in the reviews about this. 2. When we visited in december the food hut was not opened. 3. There is a lot of parking space.
Emma V — Google review
- Great park to go to. - The more 'open' fencing allows photographers to take pictures without the fence in the way. (The lens of my camera almost fits in between some of the fences and when zoomed in, doesn't show the fence) - Unfortunately not all animals were in the open to be seen by visitors, but you can't do a lot about that. - The restaurant is and looks great. - It's nice that some employees speak Dutch. (When visiting keep in mind that you will walk alot)
Underground A — Google review
This is not a regular zoo, understand that before you go. It's a forrest with European animals. The animals have big enclosures so there is a smaller change to see the animals. Mostly at the end of the route it get's better. It's a park for real animal enthusiast. Not for the regular guest.

Loved this place. Nice animal collection, lots of paths to walk around. Good facilities. Children play area is nice, petting zoo has good collection of animals and a lot of space. Ruurlo Castle

Castle
Museums
Ruurlo Castle is a restored 14th-century island castle located on a lake within picturesque gardens. The castle showcases the art of renowned artist Karel Willink across multiple floors and boasts beautifully maintained grounds with lush green fields, trees, and bushes that offer privacy. Visitors can enjoy a quaint cafe near the entrance and explore the small yet impressive art collection dedicated to realism from More museum, which was added during the 2017 restoration.
Castle was restored at 2017 and now hosts part of art collection devoted to realism from More museum. The collection is small but nice. Reserve up to 1 hour for the museum. The interiors of the castle are nicely renovated with the wood paneling and tapestry. The pattern of hardwood floors repeats the pattern on the ceiling. The parking is free, but the place is popular, so parking is full on the weekends. The restaurant in the Orangery is nice and staff is very helpful.
Andrii P — Google review
Excellent and memorable exhibition. You can see the development of the artist, Carel Willink. He goes through phases of his life like the whole world did last century. This narrative becomes all the more personal for him, clearly shown through his works.

Beautiful gardens! And there was an exhibition about cats 🐈🐱🐈‍⬛. I used my museum card to enter. I went there by tren and it’s accessible on foot from the train station.
Jeison D — Google review
Ruurlo Castle is a place where history meets art and nature. As you approach, you are greeted by a picturesque view: well-kept alleys, ponds with water lilies, and a historic park that’s perfect for a stroll before or after visiting the museum. The grounds are meticulously maintained – colorful flower beds, neatly trimmed lawns, and quiet spots where you can sit on a bench and soak in the atmosphere. The castle itself is impressive with its elegant towers, symmetrical facades, and large windows reflecting in the surrounding water. Inside, you’ll find a museum dedicated to the works of Carel Willink – showcasing paintings, drawings, sculptures, and even some personal belongings of the artist. The exhibition is thoughtfully arranged, blending seamlessly with the historic interiors and creating an intriguing contrast between the old and the contemporary. In addition to the main collection, the castle often hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events. The on-site café offers coffee with a beautiful view of the park, and the gift shop sells books, postcards, and souvenirs related to art and the castle’s history. This is an ideal place for a peaceful day filled with beauty and inspiration. Even if you’re not an avid art lover, the walk around the grounds and the chance to admire the castle’s architecture will leave you with lasting memories.

Beautifully restored little castle with modern amenities. The new wooden, inlaid floors mirror the patterns in the ceiling. Very nice grounds for strolling around. Nice collection of Carel Willink paintings. The orangerie offers great food for a very reasonable price

A nice castle, beautiful collection of Willinks work. But you're done in about an hour or so. You can have a small cup of coffee for a large price at the orangerie. The garden is lovely and well tended, but also seen in half an hour or less when it isn't too busy. The place is nice and beautiful to visit, but I expected a bit more. Maybe I should have taken the tour..

The museum is impressive and the surroundings even more so. Very serene and idyllic. Fun little path for the kids in the forest. We got the English guide for small kids for the forrest path - I recommend getting the Dutch one/the one for older kids and translate it if necessary. Ours was a little difficult to use. Only drawback of the experience was that everything in the museum is in Dutch only. But google translate helped us out.

When I was young, I already visited the museum when on holiday and fortunately it still exists. The stuffed animals (work of taxidermist Piet Bos - the former name of the museum) are partly presented in beautiful "diorama's" (artwork by Piet's son, Kees Bos). For those who want to dig deeper al lot of information is available, including a lot of birds and a movie about the craftsmanship of taxidermy.

We went to this place with some relatives who live in the area. It is nice to walk around and the setting is very pretty. My cousin acted as a tour guide, so it was really interesting. The food was really good too. Nice experience.

Hof van Eckberge is a delightful destination near Doetinchem, perfect for families seeking a fun-filled day. This park offers an array of indoor and outdoor activities suitable for all ages, including exciting laser tag games and bowling. Kids will love exploring the small zoo featuring charming animals like raccoons, porcupines, and wallabies. The expansive outdoor playground provides endless entertainment, while mini-golf adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your visit.
1. Family oriented especially with younger children. Parents end up having a relaxed time because the kids have a lot to explore. 2. Fair entry price 3. Loads of fun things to see and play with. It is not very big but has has a decent indoor and outdoor playing facilities. A little patience is needed to spot the tortoises. My daughter counter 14 but there could be more. 4. I love all the animals they have. Some a exotic. 5. The food from the restaurant is good. No need to worry that are not allowed to bring your own food inside. 6. It may be useful to pack a change of clothes if you will allow your kids to play in the water-sand Play area.

01st June 2020 finally open - great place for the kids and everyone knows what's good for the kids is always good for the parents... you can order something to eat or drink and just relax - kids can play in this time - perfect for us... small zoo / outside restaurant / bar and a lot of space for children to play.... if you want to give your children some time for fun and yourself to eat drink or just relax - this is perfect place for you...

The company is a huge heaven for children to start with. Only in their recent years they've decided to also expand into being a small animal zoo, and from what I've seen they are fitting themselves into that greatly. The staff is very kind, great food from what I can tell (had loaded fries with pulled pork) and it all looks clean and well themed to fit their target audience: children. Can only imagine this park getting better throughout the years!

A beautiful, clean stadium with very friendly personnel. The club's museum was open before the game and they were nice enough to give me a personal tour. The museum had very cool artifacts and a large collection of shirts throughout the years. There was free parking right near the stadium and getting to and from the city center was easy. A perfect groundhopping day.

Great facilities and super atmosphere at Erve Asito, home of Heracles. We were guests in the Hettrix skybox and had a fantastic view of the game and the stadium. Parking was well arranged, making our visit hassle-free. We watched the match between Heracles and Fortuna Sittard and had an amazing time. Highly recommended!

If you're in this area of the Netherlands you should check out a game. It's very different than another countries. Techno music blasting and a family environment actually pretty fun.

Good view from away stands, nice that they welcome us with flags. Only club to serve both coffee and sandwiches for free to away supporters.
