Mountain peak
Transportation

Stanserhorn is a breathtaking mountain peak near Pilatus, offering stunning panoramic views and a unique experience. Visitors can reach the summit via a funicular railway and an open-air double-deck cable car, which is the world's first of its kind. At 1898 meters above sea level, the summit features a small restaurant, souvenir shop, sun terrace with an observation deck, and even an energy point where global energy lines intersect.
Beautiful mountain with stunning views! Easy to reach and perfect for a relaxing day in nature. Don’t miss the open-top cable car ride!
Melosolo W — Google review
Pretty empty when we came and def felt slightly more off the beaten path. Would not call it a local favorite but def not a tourist must go, which created a more tranquil environment to enjoy the scenery. Restaurant had panoramic views and delicious soup while we warned up after the ride up to the summit. You can hike around a little further out and also up but we came when trails were still a bit icy so going back all the way down by foot was out of question. Def worth a trip if you are in the area for the great views.
Andy — Google review
Stunning hiking area at the top of the mountain. Wish I had more time to spend there. Gondola and funicular rides are charming in its own kind. Sunny weather was a huge boon to overall experience.
Mike Z — Google review
Absolutely loved our visit to Stanserhorn. The whole journey up is already an experience — first the charming vintage funicular, then the incredible open-air CabriO cable car which is honestly the highlight. Standing on the open top deck with fresh alpine air and 360° mountain views was unforgettable. Once at the top the views are just spectacular — lakes, snow-capped peaks, and so peaceful. Plenty of spots to just sit, relax and enjoy the scenery. One of the most unique mountain trips we’ve done in Switzerland. 100% worth it!
Leonis M — Google review
The weather wasn’t in our favor as cloudy and light rain. However we made it to the top and saw alpine marmots, snow and had fun! Great way to finish our time while visiting Luzern.
T N — Google review
Amazing journey in clouds and flying through clouds and see many mountains at top. Best part did not pay extra like other mountains and only place can see local unlike others see many Chinese tourists....
May S — Google review
Stanserhorn in Switzerland is a stunning mountain destination near the town of Stans in the canton of Nidwalden, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Swiss Alps, Lake Lucerne, and surrounding valleys. It is famous for the CabriO cable car, the world’s first open-top double-decker cable car, which gives visitors a unique experience of riding in the open air as they ascend to the summit at 1,898 meters. At the top, visitors can enjoy scenic hiking trails, a revolving restaurant that provides 360° views while dining, and opportunities to spot local wildlife such as marmots. Stanserhorn beautifully combines adventure, nature, and relaxation, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring central Switzerland.

A ride to the clouds. From the open-air cable car to the peaceful summit, Stanserhorn offers a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. The views stretch endlessly — it feels like the world is quietly holding its breath.

Hängebrücke Fürgangen - Mühlebach

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Hiking area
A nice small walk and for some it might be a thrill, or to others a challenge; 92 meters to the bottom. You can definitely go just to see and try the bridge, or plan for a round-tour hike in Ernen - starting at the small shop on the road side, where you park the car and you can have snacks, drinks, pizza and kebab before or after ☺️
Anne-Lene I — Google review
How freaking cool!! You’ve got to stop to check out this bridge. Parking is a few bucks and the views are unreal! Check out the video
Michael D — Google review
Magnificent view, magnificent weather. Its like standing on a 20 story building between the mountains. There is a lot of wind especially in the middle, so hold on to your phone while making beautiful pictures. The view of the valley you are in and the surrounding alps is breathtakingly beautiful. The view below even more with a small river and the trees below. Its worth the small stop esepecially if you are coming from a loong trip to do some sightseeing and natural battery recharge :D nJoy
Saszet S — Google review
Anyone should try to walk on this bridge. Beautifully built in a very suggestive valley. Stop and walk your fear off by crossing the valley.
Ivano T — Google review
Great experience if you are not scared of heights.
Robert N — Google review
Not to be missed. What a place and what a beautiful slice of nature.
Santos S — Google review
Parking is not free, but it is inexpensive. I encourage you to come in the early morning. By the time we left it was getting crowded so we got to enjoy the bridge all to ourselves. While you are crossing over, visit the little town on the other side and stop at the first bed and breakfast/cafe for some coffee and enjoy the view.
Lori A — Google review
mpb and I found this hidden gem connecting two sides of The Rhône. We couldn’t believe it was free! The bridge was quite wobbly in the centre but gave a wonderful view through the valley and of the river. Kebab van outside was definitely a good idea beforehand as well, well worth it.

Glasi Hergiswil (Glass museum)

Mentioned on
1 list
Handicraft museum
Museums
Glasi Hergiswil is a unique glass factory in Switzerland where visitors can witness the traditional art of glassblowing firsthand. The facility offers a comprehensive experience, including museums, exhibitions, and onsite stores. Families and glass enthusiasts will enjoy watching skilled artisans shape molten glass into beautiful objects. Visitors can even try their hand at blowing glass and take home their creations as souvenirs. The knowledgeable staff adds depth to the educational tour by sharing insights into the history and artistry behind the craft.
On a rainy day this place saved us with our 6yr old girl🌦 Interesting place2visit! We had an English automatic guided tour through speakers. It led us from room to room; then the glass factory's part to actually see how few things are done. If curious, one can even try to actually blow glass into a ball shape! Outside in a different building interactive games related to glass (of course)😁 and the glass labirynth! Please do try! Exciting! Wearing gloves and slippers ;) outside the restaurant has a good selection of food to choose from AND CLOSE TO THE TOILET THERE IS AN AMAZING AND HUGE MARBLE RUN! We found it by coincidence on another day☆ Swiss siblings played it and we heard the sound and walked down by memory lane back to their childhood when played it the last time!♡. You can by the glass balls from the vending machine and enjoy how they roll down for minutes with their beautiful sound☆☆
Bridgette B — Google review
Love glass making and watching. Staff very friendly and I got to blow my own glass ball. Super cool souvenirur.
Deborah W — Google review
Great activity, with various educational activities for adults and children. Don't forget the lakeside games (controllable fountain) and the playground. The factory outlet is also very well stocked.
Y. C — Google review
A national treasure! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well worth the time, and a great value.
Steven L — Google review
Glasi Hergiswil is a glass factory where you can actually go and watch them make different glass objects on the spot! It is super hot in there, as you can imagine, with the big hot stoves they have, (duh, melting sand!) but it is a super ‘cool’ experience that every age enjoys! We went when the kids were 4 and they are even more interested now when they are older. I wouldn’t recommend the museum with the smaller kids, but the factory, a huge playground with a slide (beware, the slide is super fast!), a dragon and a BIG marble run, as well as the glass labyrinth, all of those are amazing for kids! At the slide/marble run, you can purchase marbles they make in the factory. A bag costs 6.- and is quite affordable. The factory you can visit for free, but the museum and the labyrinth are paid (very reasonable price TBH). The playground is free, the water play behind the building as well, and you get the free beautiful views of the lake. Check out those mountains and colors! Inside, another section is also free to visit, where you can make music with cups, different glass objects, which was actually my favourite bit, and they have a first choice store where you can buy plates, glasses and other things. The second choice store is right across the street. Inside the factory you can pay 20.- and you get to blow your own glass bauble which you can then hang on the ceiling with some fairy lights! Not expensive for such a unique experience!! This place is amazing and you can surely spend some good 3 + hours here. Definitely worth a visit if you are around or want to see something special while visiting Switzerland!
A. ( — Google review
The preshow gives a good historical overview of glass history. Unfortunately it was in German
Bipin C — Google review
Definitely worth a visit, even if you only visit the free exhibition and watch them blow glass. There’s lots to experience and kids would be really entertained. If you want the full experience, you can also visit the museum (7 CHF per person), go through the glass labyrinth (5 CHF per person, if I remember correctly), blow your own glass ball (20 CHF per person), and have a drink or snack at the café by the lake.
That ᴗ — Google review
Excellent and exciting experience, at the end of the nice museum you can see a part of the production and also the kids can blow the glass and make a ball glass. Very nice thank you very much for this nice experience.

Aare Gorge (Aareschlucht)

Historic Walking Areas
Aareschlucht is a stunning limestone river gorge in the central Swiss region, with a depth of 200 meters. The milky blue stream is formed by snow-capped mountain meltwater and features small waterfalls. Visitors can explore the network of public walkways and tunnels, taking in the breathtaking natural beauty. Driving through the tunnels into the valley offers astounding views of lush greenery, well-maintained towns, and the majestic Swiss Alps.
One of the most striking places I’ve visited in Switzerland. The raw beauty of the cliffs, the turquoise Aare river, and the sheer force of nature make this an unforgettable experience. We visited on a weekend and got in without any waiting – no need to book tickets in advance. The trail is not difficult, even kids can handle it. Just wear proper shoes, as some parts can be slippery due to the mist. If you’re looking for a place where nature still demands respect, this is it. 📍 Easy parking nearby. 🚶‍♀️ Great for a peaceful walk or slow exploration. 📸 And perfect for lovers of photography and dramatic landscapes.

Must see place. Stunning gorgeous and waterfall. Well maintained walkway. Ticket price includes the option to get the train back. Very clean cafe and toilet facilities. Staff very friendly.
Steve W — Google review
Beautiful stroll through an impressive gorgeous. Worth the entry fee as it is used for upkeep of the board walk. Really spectacular and worth a visit. Understand it can get busy which would diminish the visit, so pick your time I guess. Parking available.
Chris L — Google review
Even on a cold and windy day the gorge was impressive. Leaves were swirling and if felt like the wind would push us back at times but we continued on along the edge of the gorge. Perhaps because of the weather and the last time of day there were few other visitors, which was nice as it offered the opportunity for photos without strangers in view. The moves in and out of the tunnels made the walk a little more interesting, and the placards designed for the children were also a good distraction for them. We opted for the train return due to the late hour, which was an interesting experience in itself. The station hardly seemed like a place to wait for a train. Staff at both ends were very nice and helpful. While other reviewers say this isn't as impressive as other gorges around the Alps, I disagree, I very much enjoyed the 45 minute walk and would recommend it to friends. We did not really spend much time checking out the shops, restaurant, or at the playground, but they are there for additional services. Free parking was also available at both ends but the the west entrance had significantly more space. Side note: You can buy a combo ticket on the Zentral Bahn trains while on the way to the entrance to cover the train and the gorge. The ticket we bought at the gorge also covered our return on the train.
Christopher C — Google review
This was such an awesome place to visit when in Hasli Valley in Bernese Oberland. It truly is a natural wonder, and no picture will really show the true beauty you will see in person. What's great about the Aares Gorge is that it can be visited rain or shine. You'll get a different perspective depending on the weather. Give yourself plenty of time here. It's about a mile walk (45-60 minutes) along the limestone gorge and through the tunnels. It's truly a unique experience that deserves a special trip. I've never seen anything quite like it. It really shows you the torrential power of glaciel water as it carves its way over time through the valley. There are 2 entrances with parking lots. We started at the west entrance and exited at the east side. There was so much to see in between (including a waterfall). There is also a view of cave entrances from the pathway that were built to house the military during WWII. Fortunately, they never had to use it. There are interesting facts displayed along the way. It's pretty much an easy walk until you get to the east side. There is more of an incline on your way up as well as some steps up the hill. Just plan your entrance accordingly if you have limited mobility. It worked out very well for us. We were rewarded with a beautiful view of the Alps when exiting at the east side. Our guide met us in the parking lot. You can return by train to your initial starting point as well. We loved this experience so much!! There's so much to do here in the Canton of Bern. Make it a part of your trip when in Switzerland.
Karen V — Google review
Visited on a day with lighter rain after several days of heavy downpours. The rushing rapids were astonishing to see though boardwalk could feel slippery at times. A beautiful landscape filled with natural wonders. A must see.
Cat H — Google review
Definetly worth a visit if you are in the area, a pleasant walk at a cool place. The entrance fee I would say is quite cheap compared to other places in the Junfrau region. It also includes the train ride back which was convenient. You do need to press the stop button on the train if you want to get of at the Aareschlucht station.
Jessica F — Google review
A natural wonder. Walking through the narrow gorge with the turquoise river rushing below is thrilling and refreshing. Easy access and well-maintained paths make it perfect for all ages.

The region is also known for its apricots, with the first documentation dating back to 1812. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views and easily accessible paths, suitable for walking even in winter with proper footwear due to occasional deep snow. Best crossing of the alps! Parking spot perfect for a rest and picture stop at any time of year. If you use the restaurants toilet make sure you also support them with a stop.

Wanted to go over the alps on my Harley and was worried about too many tight hairpins. There was nothing to worry about on the simplon. Nice big easy roads, and some great views at the top and along the roads both sides.

Waterfalls
Reichenbachfall is a famous 120-meter waterfall with viewing terraces and rides in a wooden cable car. It holds ties to the legendary Sherlock Holmes, as it was the site of his final battle with Professor Moriarty in Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Final Problem.' The falls plunge 250 meters to the ground with a deafening roar. Visitors can take a historic funicular from Willigen to reach the top and enjoy breathtaking views of the cascading waters.
A great excursion to famous falls. The funicular was well worth it, and then the short hike was nice with lovely views.
Michael M — Google review
Started with amazing views all over the mountains. Then you take the funicular train and at every meter you go up the views are always breath taking. The waterfall is amazing as well the information about Sherlock Holmes. Loved it
João G — Google review
Took the train up and hiked down. Hike is steep in some places. Lots of fun. We also hiked up to the top. Beautiful views of the falls and the area. Worth a visit and very impressive in person. We came for Sherlock and even the non-Sherlock readers enjoyed the visit.
Stan L — Google review
Beautiful hiking route on an ancient trail through the forest and along tge Reichenbachfall. Very refreshing during hot days
Richard K — Google review
This cascade is THE BEST ! Absolutely stunning, better than Lauterbrunnen. Great funicular, old fashioned, real adventure trip. Your kids will love the ride. Buy the round ticket with the Aareschlucht. Not expensive. Then you follow the trail to the Aareschlucht, 2h. Take along some food you’ll find drinks at the gas station when you get back to the road before the Aareschlucht 😍
Peter M — Google review
The Sherlock Holmes funicular in Meiringen opened in 1899 to connect the village with Reichenbach Falls, the site of Holmes’ legendary showdown with Moriarty. Originally powered by water ballast, it was restored in the 1990s and now carries visitors up the same dramatic route, blending Swiss engineering with literary history.
Leonardo A — Google review
Nice hike up to the waterfall that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The cascade was a bit weak on the day we visited so a little underwhelming. Shame the funicular wasn't running but after driving to the area the walk did us good. I think had it not been made famous it wouldn't be more impressive than the many other falls coming down along the mountain faces, but non-the-less we enjoyed the visit and would certainly recommend for fans of Sherlock Holmes.
Christopher C — Google review
Wow.. my advice is to take the bus and start from the top walking down to the base then take the funicular to the ground… the whole experience is amazing

Mount Pilatus

Mountains
Mount Pilatus is a stunning mountain peak in Switzerland, offering sweeping views and a range of amenities including a restaurant and hotel. Situated on the shores of Lake Lucerne, it provides an incredible setting with views of famous mountains like Rigi and Stanserhorn. The area also boasts a well-preserved medieval Old Town, souvenir shops, high-quality restaurants, and beautiful waterfront promenades.
I am struggling to find the right words to describe how incredible Mount Pilatus is. All I can say is that you absolutely CANNOT miss this if you are anywhere near Lucerne. The adventure begins with the cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad, which was full of surprises. Of course, the views are amazing, but I was not expecting the ride to be such a thrill! It climbs at a seriously steep angle, and it's fascinating to watch the scenery and plants completely change as you shoot up the mountain. Once you get to the top, there are several easy, short hiking trails, and every single step is just ridiculously beautiful. You get these insane 360-degree views of Lucerne's unique landscape, the massive lake, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The photos don't even do it justice. And the wildlife! We saw mountain goats just chilling on the cliffs, basically posing for our pictures. Not to mention the friendly yellow-billed choughs (like mountain ducks) that are everywhere. From the journey up to the views at the top, this was a 10/10 experience. Just do it!
Chieh-Sheng C — Google review
If you're in or neat Lucerne Mount Pilatus is a must see. I took the train from Lucerne to Alpnachstad and then took the cog train up the mountain. I had absolutely perfect weather and the views were stunning. There is a restaurant multiple lookout points and a few trails I hiked. I then took the gondola down the other side of the mountain. Highly recommend!
Dylan N — Google review
A definite must do,we had the silver round trip journey and it was well worth it,went up via the cable car and gondola and down by the cog train The views were amazing 👏 also the dragons caves were cool
Erwin T — Google review
Beautiful views all around. Be careful about visiting during spring, as parts of the viewing decks may be closed because of snow as late as early june in my experience. The facilities are new and very nice. I would recommend to take the cog rail up, and the gondola down the mountain for the best experience. Worth every penny.
Matyas A — Google review
WoW WoW WooooooW An absolute must see! It is a bit expensive to go up but what an insanely gorgeous experience to see lucerne and the alps from here. We took the cog wheel up and the gondola down. INCREDIBLE
Michael O — Google review
My visit to Mount Pilatus was absolutely unforgettable! The entire journey — from the climb up through stunning mountain landscapes to the breathtaking views at the top — felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The combination of thrilling rides, fresh mountain air, and panoramic scenery makes it a must-visit destination in Switzerland. The facilities are well-organized, clean and tourist-friendly. The staff were helpful and very professional, making the experience smooth from start to finish. Whether you take the world’s steepest cogwheel railway or the aerial cableways, the adventure is incredible in every way. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Switzerland — Mount Pilatus truly feels like being on top of the world!
Balagopal N — Google review
What a spectacular place! If you are visiting Switzerland, spend some hours at Mt. Pilatus. I took the steap railway to the top, but you can also choose to hike.
Marius N — Google review
Mount Pilatus was definitely a highlight of the trip to Switzerland. The weather in mid September was cooperative (it was as warm and sunny on the mountain as in Lucerne). Classic trip as advised: bus, cable cars to the mountain and trip back via cog-wheel train and lake cruise ending in Lucerne. Nature beauty is unreal, hiking a few paths at the top (paved or stairs) is almost a must. Utter surprise how tasty were the local beef hot dogs at the fast food joint on the mountain.

Stockalperschloss

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Baroque castle with guided tours, formal gardens & an exhibition on the history of the Simplon Pass.
Impressive baroque palace in the heart of Brig, built in the 17th century by Kaspar Stockalper. The castle is very well preserved, with beautiful gardens and a peaceful courtyard. Guided tours are interesting, and the views of the town and surrounding mountains make the visit even more special
Marcio R — Google review
The castle's history, from its construction to the present day, is very interesting. The castle garden invites you to linger. I think it must be particularly beautiful in spring and summer.
Max B — Google review
The castle was closed the day we went to Brig, but the garden itself is worth the visit. It was quiet, a perfect place for a picnic with an astonished view. Toilets are available. Highly recommended
MG R — Google review
A great place to just stop, take in the views. A very interesting atmosphere around, lots of history here.
Philip R — Google review
Nice Palace, but without a guide, you can't explore the interior at all. My bf and I ended up sitting out in the gardens feeding sparrows for an hour (which was lovely). Admission is free.
Sonja L — Google review
Late this freezing cold January Sunday afternoon we visited this magnificent 17th century castle in the very center of the old town of Brig, that previously was unknown to us. We were all by ourselves and could enjoy the sun progressively setting on the western facade of the castle with shadows of the naked trees being projected on the pale yellow color of the building. Our only regret was that we had not arranged for a visit to the interior but that will be a good project for a future visit.
Sebastian R — Google review
There was a wedding going on when we arrived, so it felt rude to go in. Can't tell you much about the interior. Spent our time outside in the park. Nice kempt garden with students and kindergartens in all directions, but they were well behaved and not offensive. Lovely views and nice weather. Park at the train station and walk up. Plenty of touristy stuff around the area, so well catered for.
Chris S — Google review
I haven't been inside the castle and only been to the courtyard and outside park of palace. It is an impressive palace and courtyard. If you are in Brig and have 30-45 mins, take a short walk from Bahnof through the old town to the palace. It is totally worth your time. You can have a guided tour for which you will need more time. Hopefully next time, I will be able to do it.

Ballenberg, Swiss Open-Air Museum, is a captivating showcase of traditional Swiss architecture and crafts. Situated about 6km from Brienz train station, the museum features over 100 century-old buildings from various regions of Switzerland. Visitors can witness demonstrations of cheesemaking and rural crafts while exploring meticulously reconstructed historical structures. The vast parkland houses animals like rabbits, chickens, pigs, goats, cows, and ducks to provide an immersive experience in the region's rich cultural heritage.
I wouldn’t have chosen to come here on my own, but had a very enjoyable morning walking around the museum. Included in the Swiss Travel Pass, it’s an excellent and inexpensive way to get some steps in and learn about the history of the country. My favorite parts were the animals roaming throughout and the accordion group playing fabulous music at the cultural stage. We went to the east entrance (a few stops later on the same bus line if coming from Brienz) and made a loop before making it all the way to the west entrance. It was a little difficult to get around for young kids/strollers/those with mobility concerns.

Saw very good review about this place decided to give it a try. The playground is nice. CAROUSELL is simple but age 130 years old something different. The house that showcase how 200 years ago people living here is quite interesting, but wish there are more English explanation so that we know what we seeing. Many houses we visit is close or no one around at all. If need to pay for ticket I think is not quite worth it. We got cover by Swiss travel pass. The train ride inside is almost non existence because only a few ride a day at selected timing and you can tour around if you want to take train. End up we walk alot and some are not easy path. We were lost half way as this place is huge and limited sign. The map and sign some need sometime to figure out.

it's an amazing journey through time and hand-crafts! there are hundreds of structures guiding you through the places and timea of older switzerland with live demonstration for pottery, rope making, milling and many more! the crafts are well explained and kids & adults are equally in awe! many nifty playgrounds and infrastructure make the experience well rounded. the horse carriage schedule and high prices could be made more pleasant. also more simple info for how such houses were build would be cool.

Absolutely loved every moment of my visit! I had the honor of meeting a leather craftsman who was so kind as to make me a keyring. I chose a Longhorn design, perfect for a Texan. I also met the soup and coffee makers who used original equipment to create delicious, timeless food and drinks. It was truly amazing to watch. As I walked around the open-air museum, I was fascinated by how each house was unique in its own way. There was also a restaurant and a shack selling food and drinks. I could have easily spent the entire day there but unfortunately I had to catch a train and it's time to leave. Highly recommended.

You can spend the best 6 hours here. I am so impressed how well it is done and how big this is. I will come every season. It is definitely worth traveling 5 hours just for this❤️

So much to do and such great value for money. I recommend arriving early to get full value from your visit as you’ll need several hours to explore the various areas of Switzerland that are represented. A beautiful place, friendly staff and an essential stop for a summertime holiday in the Bernese Oberland.

One of the best places in Switzerland to visit with kids. The museum route is charming and very interesting, and the land is huge! We all learned a lot on our visit. Don't hurry, it’s impossible to see it all. One more reason to come back again…

Nestled atop the breathtaking Jungfraujoch, the Sphinx Observatory is a remarkable destination that combines scientific research with stunning natural beauty. Accessible via an impressive railway journey, this mountaintop observatory offers visitors a unique opportunity to step onto its secure viewing terrace. From here, you can soak in panoramic vistas of majestic peaks and glaciers that are typically reserved for seasoned climbers and adventurers.
If you’re looking for a truly unforgettable experience in Switzerland, the Jungfrau Observatory is a destination you absolutely can’t miss. The moment you step out onto the observatory’s viewing platform, you’re greeted with panoramic alpine vistas that seem almost unreal—stretches of glittering snow, dramatic mountain peaks, and a sky that feels close enough to touch. It’s an exhilarating rush standing amid such natural beauty, and the sensation of being perched “at the top” of Europe stays with you long after you leave. The observatory itself is more than just a place to admire the views. There’s a lively, international energy here, with visitors from all over the world united in their awe. What truly sets Jungfrau Observatory apart is the sense of wonder it inspires. A truly once in a lifetime experience. We purchased tickets the day before as we weren't sure the weather was going to be good or not but it was perfect. Also very wheelchair friendly. We spent about 4 hours up there which gave us enough time to have lunch at the dine in restaurant and also see all the viewing points and experience the Ice Palace without rushing. There were also some snow activities you could participate but that would have required a bit more time. It was busy but manageable.
Georgina T — Google review
A truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience! We booked our tickets just a day in advance, unsure about the weather—but it turned out to be absolutely perfect. The entire area was impressively wheelchair-friendly, making the visit comfortable for everyone. We spent around 2 hours exploring, which gave us ample time to enjoy a relaxed lunch at the dine-in restaurant, take in all the scenic viewpoints, and explore the magical Ice Palace without feeling rushed. There were also some exciting snow activities available, though they would have required a bit more time. It was a bit busy, but still very manageable and thoroughly enjoyable.

Standing at the “Top of Europe” surrounded by breathtaking Alpine peaks and sparkling glaciers felt truly magical. The train journey itself was scenic, and once there, the crisp, fresh air combined with the incredible panoramic views made it a highlight of my trip. The blend of natural beauty and the impressive mountain infrastructure created an awe-inspiring and peaceful experience.
Alejandro D — Google review
Wow The breathtaking views and superbly managed facility with so many visitors and yet everything works just perfectly fine. If planning to reach around lunchtime, it's better to book restaurants in advance. Because everything it gets sold out pretty quickly In my opinion, if you truly want to enjoy the place, then 2 hours is not sufficient. Because that is as far as discovery tour goes. But if you want some time to be doing some activities, it can take up to 4 hours.
MR C — Google review
When you arrive at this spot in Switzerland, you really don’t need to think twice — just buy a ticket to Jungfraujoch. But here’s a tip: since the weather at the summit changes quickly, it’s best to check the official website first. They have live cameras, so to avoid wasting money, check the conditions in advance — after all, prices in Switzerland are truly expensive.
Stephon C — Google review
Our trip to Jungfraujoch was absolutely breathtaking—hands down more impressive than Mt. Titlis. The panoramic views from the Top of Europe were stunning, and we especially loved the sledging experience, which added a fun and adventurous touch to the day. One thing to note: food at the summit is quite expensive. We recommend grabbing some snacks or a light meal from the Coop supermarket located near the base station before taking the cable car up. It’s a smart way to stay fueled without overspending. We visited in August, and the weather was surprisingly warm. A single jacket was more than enough—no need for woolen caps or gloves. Overall, the entire experience was magical and well worth the trip.

Jungfraujoch, also known as the 'Top of Europe,' is a popular tourist destination and the highest railway station in Europe. Visitors can take the Jungfraubahn from either the Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald valley to reach this glacier saddle, but should be prepared for the high altitude.
An unforgettable experience. The train ride alone is spectacular, and at the top you’re rewarded with breathtaking views of glaciers and snow-capped peaks. A must-do in Switzerland.
Jasper B — Google review
Absolutely breathtaking. The top of Europe it prides itself as. 3475M of elevation. A must visit if you're in Grindelwald. You have to change trains twice to get up here but the views are amazing. Theres different stations that you can go to and there's an ice station as well. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours here.
SL W — Google review
There’s no denying it: the Jungfraujoch is one of the most spectacular spots in all of Switzerland. The panorama is simply breathtaking — an endless sea of snow and glaciers framed by the iconic peaks of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. It’s the kind of place that makes you whisper “wow” before you even realize you’re doing it. That said, the experience is very tourist-oriented — and I say that with both appreciation and a smile. On the one hand, it’s impressive how accessible everything is: tunnels, elevators, shops, cafés, even an ice palace. The Swiss engineering behind this mountaintop infrastructure deserves applause. On the other hand, the sheer number of visitors can make you feel like you’ve taken a scenic detour through a luxury shopping mall at 3,500 meters. And then there’s the crowd itself — a fascinating, unstoppable wave of excited tourists from all over the world. You haven’t truly experienced the Jungfraujoch until you’ve seen a group of people taking selfies in sneakers at nearly 4,000 meters above sea level. It’s equal parts surreal and entertaining — like a nature documentary directed by Wes Anderson. All in all, the Jungfraujoch remains an unforgettable experience. It’s beautiful, over-the-top, slightly chaotic, and absolutely worth it. Just don’t expect solitude or silence — and maybe bring sunglasses, patience, and a good sense of humor along with your camera.
Hugo H — Google review
Absolutely stunning, snow all round the year, less tourist compared to Titlis. A nice tour route set up. You will clearly need 5 hrs and more if you want to enjoy every spot at your pace. The snowtubing and sledging were absolute fun. 20 CHF for Half hour and unlimited rides. Ice palace was beautifully carved. The hot chocolate shop at Aletsch glacier was yummy. Point to note- you have to walk a lot there, but for older people and people who are unable to walk a lot, there are places to sit in the warmth of the tunnel and enjoy the views.
Subhasree R — Google review
Mürren is a village suspended between earth and sky, a quiet balcony carved into the cliffs of the Swiss Alps. Here, the world seems to breathe more slowly. Wooden chalets cling to the mountainsides like timeless guardians, and the air carries the clean, ringing silence of high places—broken only by the distant echo of waterfalls or the soft bells of grazing cows. From this lofty terrace, the giants of the Bernese Alps—Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau—stand like ancient sentinels, their snowy crowns catching the first blush of dawn and the last gold of evening. The clouds drift low, brushing past rooftops like wandering spirits, and every path leads to vistas that feel almost unreal, as if the mountains had stepped out of a painting and invited you to walk inside. Mürren is not merely a place to visit; it is a place to feel. A place where time loosens its grip, where every breath tastes of pine and glacier, and where the heart instinctively slows to the rhythm of the land. It is Switzerland at its most enchanting—quiet, majestic, and impossibly beautiful.
Madilla — Google review
never would, I have thought that I would experience my first high altitude sickness at Jungfraujoch. It was a torturous 20 minutes however, most of my time spent there was nothing short of amazing
Eileen L — Google review
An absolute must see if you're in the Jungfrau region. The views of the Alps are unreal. The viewing platform at the Sphinx and the area with the flags lower down give the best photo opportunities. The ice sculptures are worth checking out.
Dylan N — Google review
The number one attraction as well as the most expensive attention in all of Switzerland. It cost about $500 usd for two people. The gondola ride up is amazing and the best cable car ride in the world. After the cable car you arrive at eigen glacier which is also very beautiful, then you take the train up to jungfraujoch and the train stops in the middle for you to see another glacier. Once you’re at the top there are several stations you can take a look at most of which can be seen in the photos I posted. You’ll also want to check their public webcam to make sure the weather is good on the day you come.

This train is a must!! Arrive 45-30min early to get a good seat and sit on the left side closest to the entrance to get the best views. The train takes you to the top of the mountain and you can get off and enjoy beautiful views and walk around and see the beautiful cows and enjoy nature. They also have a restaurant where you can have cold beer. They are so friendly at the restaurant! During our time here we really felt close to nature and felt such peace and calmness. It’s a must do activity!

Amazing! Totally worth it. Try to plan so that it's not too cloudy and foggy at the top of the mountain so you can enjoy the view. There are a couple of Cafe's at the top. Give yourself 1-2 hours to enjoy the view before the return trip.
Hussein M — Google review
Our journey stopped at the middle station as the train derailed, the staff said she has never seen it happen before so it doesn’t look like it happens often, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It was a cloudy day with little bit of sunshine, the view from starting point to the middle station was already stunning. As other people photos have shown, the best part is definitely the second half of the journey that we missed, it was a shame to have travelled across half the world to get here and missed that but we didn’t regret taking the train ride and enjoyed the first half, and unexpected events are part of the fun of travelling! While stuck at the middle station, they offered us apple juice for free. It took them about 1 to 2 hours to get another train up to take us back down to the starting point, then a full refund was given back to us.

This is an absolute must-do — totally worth it! We only made it up to Planalp that day because it was snowing at the top, but even that part of the ride was stunning. You get sweeping views of Lake Brienz and the surrounding snowy peaks all along the way. At Planalp, there are several hiking trails plus a restaurant that was packed with people. Honestly, the moment we opened the door it felt like walking straight into a scene from Red Dead Redemption 2 😂. Just a tip: if the sun isn’t out, it gets really chilly up there, so bring warm clothes. Definitely one of the unmissable highlights in the area!

Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, an absolute MUST when visiting Switzerland. Highly recommended booking your tickets in advance, as they tend to sell out quickly. I was fortunate to visit on a clear day and the scenery was breathtaking at every turn. The panoramic views were nothing short of spectacular. So glad I didn’t miss this unforgettable ride.

Well, if you are lucky and the sky ia clear, the views are insane! Really recommend for the views. It was a bit unpleasant on the way up because you have to stay with other 7 people in the same cabin all the time and it’s to tight. The best thing about this activity is that they offer you FOR FREE the ticket if it’s your birthday the day you go- so 100 less on expenses and they offer you as well a small gift ❤️

Unforgettable experience with the steam train and the hotel on top of Rothorn. The view was absolutely stunning during the train ride. The hotel staff was customer-oriented and very attentive. Food selection was quite limited, though. But we can understand because it's nearly 3000m from sea level, there's no direct access to supply.
Phương T — Google review
I have to say that it is a very worthwhile experience. It is recommended to stay on the mountain for a while so that you can overlook the entire lake! also! The staff are really patient and kind! ! I accidentally left my headphones on the train and they helped to keep it until I was coming back!!! Sincerely appreciate it which makes me love Swiss 🥹

Lake Brienz, located to the east of Interlaken in Switzerland, is a popular destination for tourists due to its stunning turquoise waters and picturesque mountain views. The area offers a variety of activities such as boat cruises, hiking trails, and historical routes to explore throughout the year. One notable stretch along the lake's coastline is from Iseltwald village to the impressive Giessbach waterfall, known for its enchanting water features.

This stunning lake in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland is one of the most scenic and serene places in the country. Surrounded by majestic mountains, lush forests, and picturesque villages, Lake Brienz offers a variety of activities and attractions for every type of traveller. Whether you want to relax on a boat ride, swim in the crystal-clear water, hike to a waterfall, or explore a historic town, Lake Brienz has something for you. We stayed at Lake Brienz, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful and scenic moments of our trip. The lake's turquoise blue waters are truly mesmerizing. Absolutely captivated by the scenery. Waking up to a view of the Eiger and Jungfrau bathed in early sunlight is something I’ll never forget. The crisp mountain air, the mirror-calm lake, and the gentle sound of water lapping against the quay created the perfect backdrop for a peaceful stroll. Treated to postcard perfect views, a serene water, flower lined pathways, and the gentle rhythm of swans gliding across the lake. It is a must visit. PS: Whether you’re sipping a coffee as dawn breaks or enjoying the rose-gold glow of sunset on snowy peaks, every moment here feels like a postcard comes to life. If you’re after pure Alpine beauty and true relaxation, this spot i.e the Lake Brienz is not to be missed. Highly recommended for visiting when in Swiss.

Trümmelbach is a stunning natural attraction in Switzerland, featuring ten glacier-fed waterfalls inside a mountain. The cascades are a spectacular sight, with up to 20,000 liters of water per second rushing through ravines and potholes shaped by the swirling waters. Accessible by a tunnel-funicular built in 1913, visitors can experience the power and noise of the falls from inside the mountain.
This is awesome! You get to see the waterfall from 10 different viewing spots. Plus the views of the valley are amazing! My recommendation: Take the lift up as far as it goes, then walk the rest of the way to the very top (lift doesn't go that far). Then walk down to catch the viewing spots you missed during the lift. The walk is nowhere as steep or rocky as Staubbachfall. I enjoyed Trummelbach so much more. It's a wonderful experience! P.S. Free parking and a cute little cafe right outside (we didn't try it, but it was popular).
Krystle — Google review
Maybe the one thing in Switzerland that doesn’t feel overpriced. Awesome experience. The roaring of the waterfalls in the caves was potentially a cooler experience than the actual waterfalls themselves. Plenty of parking Pro tip: take elevator to the 6-10 waterfalls and then make your way down from 6-1. Was an hour and a half experience for us.
Doniel E — Google review
Spectacular falls which are well set up with all the different viewpoints. I took the lift up to viewpoint 6 then walked the stairs to the top, which isn't difficult but you definitely need good grippy shoes. I didn't get too wet, only a few drips here and there but you will need a jacket as it is very cold. There is a little souvenir shop located along the path as well as the cafe with clean toilets. I stopped for coffee and a muffin, both were delicious 😋

An unforgettable experience! Trümmelbach Falls is a truly unique natural wonder — 10 glacier waterfalls hidden inside a mountain, carrying meltwater from the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. You ride a lift up through the rock and walk through tunnels, stairs, and bridges carved into the cliff. It’s moderately physical (lots of steps!), but totally worth it. The sound and power of the waterfalls — up to 20,000 liters per second — is breathtaking. Well organized, very safe, and perfect for a 1-hour visit. Highly recommend wearing good non-slip shoes. Tickets were CHF 14 for adults (2024) and free parking is just a 2-minute walk from the entrance.
Pavel ( — Google review
Trümmelbach Falls, in Lauterbrunnen Valley lets you walk inside a mountain, with roaring waterfalls echoing through rock tunnels. The short hike includes stairs up and down, so wear sturdy shoes. There is optional lift inside the mountain. Visit early to avoid crowds and bring a waterproof jacket—the spray is strong. Tickets can be bought on site. The dramatic sound and close-up views make it a rare natural wonder worth seeing. Photography is allowed but watch your gear around water.
Noel M — Google review
Very cool experience! The admission is 15CHF per adult and 7CHF per kid and for us it is it was definitely worth it. Not to mention that the walk to the area is breathtaking.

The walk to the falls was magical! There is an entry fee, I can’t recall the amount. You will get wet. There’s a bakery that you can enjoy before or after that was delightful!

Nestled in the heart of the Bernese Alps, Schilthorn is a breathtaking destination that offers an unforgettable experience for both adventure seekers and movie buffs alike. Standing tall at 2,970 meters, this iconic mountain features the renowned revolving restaurant Piz Gloria, which gained fame as Blofeld's lair in the classic James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service.' Visitors can reach this stunning summit via cable cars or by hiking through picturesque trails.
Awesome summit. Good services and safe reliable transportation. Highly worth the money for a full day trip. Have a coffee or a drink at the summit but skip the over priced Buffet. Dine at the bottom of the cable cars before you board the train to the last cable car down to valley
Gerard V — Google review
Visiting Schilthorn Piz Gloria was absolutely one of the highlights of my trip. The cable car ride itself was an incredible experience, smooth, comfortable, and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Swiss Alps. As we ascended, the scenery just kept getting more and more spectacular. At the top, the weather was perfect, which made the whole experience even more magical. The 360° views from Piz Gloria are truly stunning with snow-capped peaks, valleys, and endless mountain ranges that leave you speechless. The Bond-themed touches add a fun and unique twist to the visit, but the natural beauty alone is worth every penny. It’s not just a sightseeing trip, it’s an unforgettable adventure. Between the views, the atmosphere, and the overall experience, I can confidently say this was worth every moment and every cent. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Switzerland!

Somewhat pricey to take the gondola up to the top, but it's well worth it for the views. There is a bunch of James Bond history and plaquards. But the views alone are breathtaking. You should fefinitely wait for a clear day, othe you'll just be looking at the fog.

Was the filming location of a 007 movie. Granted it is not as high as Jungrafraujoch, but the views are equally fantastic. Highly recommended to make a trip here. There is a rotating restaurant at the tower area also as well that serves very decent buffet lunch.

Great experience. The cable car on the first stretch is supposedly the steepest in the world. Remembered to include the 9 Euro cheese / cold cut option, which is served at the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant. It comes with a drink and there was plenty of food to fill us up. And it tasted good, too. So pretty much a no-brainer. The view from the top was great. Unfortunately clouds descended while we were there and it even started to hail. Which kind of added to the whole experience. Some cool James Bond stuff - check out the bathroom mirrors! Unfortunately quite a lot of construction going on, which detracted from the whole experience. Will still give it 5 stars, but probably more like 4.5 due to construction, high cost and a very unpleasant guy in the ticket booth. Everything else was perfect and definitely an experience. Now back in the US and planning on watching On Her Majesty’s Secret Service tonight 😊

My less-than-ideal rating was solely due to the unfortunate timing of my visit. Otherwise, I would have missed the opportunity to go altogether. It was a heavily overcast day, because of that, I skipped exploring Birg and went straight up to Schilthorn instead. On top of the poor weather, Schilthorn was still under construction. After a quick browse through the gift shop, a short walk around the outdoor deck, and a light snack at the restaurant, it was already time to head back down. I’d have to return someday to truly experience the full beauty of this attraction. Hopefully on a clear day and once the construction is finally complete.
Cat H — Google review
The views are priceless and it's definitely worth it to go! However, be warned that getting around through the construction is extremely difficult. It look 20 minutes to figure out how to go down to the Walk of Fame and the View Lounges. That, for me, was the best part. It's away from the hordes of people fighting to get the best selfie and closer to nature. You can see forever! The best time to go is usually between 15:00-18:00 in the summer (weather permitting) because the clouds tend to lift around that time.

Nestled in the heart of Leukerbad, Walliser Alpentherme & Spa offers a range of spa facilities including saunas, massage treatments, and an outdoor thermal bath with stunning mountain views. The complex is conveniently located near restaurants and nightlife. While some visitors found the entrance hard to locate, others enjoyed meeting fellow travelers and appreciated the clean pools and welcoming staff.
This is a wonderful thermal bath! Location is breath taking!!!!! Love the inside and outside pools, wash areas are clean and super well stocked. Absolutely recommend at least a 3 hour stay.

I’m glad I ignored the handful of negative reviews, which mostly are from a few years ago. These thermal baths are quiet, in a stunning location and with helpful, friendly staff. The view from the outdoor pool is beautiful, the spa “village” is very good and the Aufguss - every two hours - was excellent; the man who led it was a master with the towels! The Roman-Irish bath was well done - sure, it’s not Baden-Baden and the facilities are a bit tired in places, but I’m very pleased I made the trip.

Wanted somewhere to relax after a day waking in the mountains and was going to go to one of the other pools after reading the reviews. The other place was too busy for me so decided to ignore the reviews and try here. So glad we did. The pools are lovely and the outdoor pool has a stunning view It wasn't at all crowded and so relaxing. Yes the changing rooms may need an update and some of the lockers too but they were clean and the staff helpful and friendly

The Spa/ Therme is in a bad condition. In the shower the handle fall off, lights are broken, the floor in the water is dirty. Multiple elevators are broken. One Sauna is out of orders for years and I payed 40.- CHF for 3h. All that said, it's a shame cause the building itself is beautiful and has a great view. And the idea of an underground Sauna village is also beautiful. Because it's so run down you also have not many people around either what is nice at least. Of you owner of this spa reading this review: Please please please renovate this spa! It would be a shame to see it go under.

Lovely spa, quiet with lots of capacity and a great variety of facilities. Possibly it could be described as dated but I don't think that detracted from my experience.

I absolutely love this thermal bath, amazing pools with incredible views, it's just simply gorgeous and the saunadorf is so unique and nice. Beautiful architecture.

we were checking this place out to experiance another thermal spring in leukerbad. sadly this place wasnt worth going since it was almost deserted (including the mal which was almost dead (most shops where closed for good and empty), and the baths were poorly visited (mid july!). it was a weird experience. economicaly this doesnt seem to check out anymore. also lots of stuff in bad shape and poorly maintained.
Lx B — Google review
It feels unrealistic to be able to take a hot spring bath in the middle of the Alps. The hotel is quite spacious and convenient. The surrounding scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and doesn't let you take your eyes off it. Maybe that's why everyone I meet greets kindly each other.

Leukerbad Therme is a must-visit destination, boasting the title of the largest natural thermal spa in Europe. With four floors and ten pools to explore, it offers a variety of options for relaxation and rejuvenation. The Sauna-Landscape provides additional opportunities for pampering with steam baths, herbs sauna, and more.
We visited Leukerbad Therme today and absolutely loved it! The hot springs and thermal pools were incredibly relaxing — the perfect combination of warm mineral water, bubbling jacuzzis, and soothing hydro-massage zones. We’ve been to other thermal spas before, but this one truly stands out for its unique atmosphere and natural charm. The mineral water felt rejuvenating, and the entire experience was peaceful and refreshing. We had a wonderful time, felt fully relaxed, and truly enjoyed every moment of our visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind in the heart of the Swiss Alps!

Absolutely wonderful place for the family. Lots to do, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. No matter the weather this is a great year round activity. After you have paid you don’t need to worry about anything else, your wrist band is your locker key and how you pay at the bar. On the way out scan your wrist band on the pay machine and pay for your drinks.
Martin E — Google review
Much remains the secret of nature, but what is known makes Leukerbad absolutely extraordinary. It takes an unbelievable 40 years for the seeping mountain water deep in the Alps to be enriched with valuable minerals, warmed to the perfect temperature of up to 51° Celsius, and transformed into thermal water. Only then does it bubble naturally from the earth and flow into the Leukerbad baths. To step into these waters is to experience true Alpine wellness, a gift of nature that has been patiently prepared for decades. The Leukerbad Therme is the largest thermal bath in the entire Alpine region, and it truly deserves its reputation as an Alpine wellness paradise for young and old. With ten relaxing baths, family-friendly slides, and a modern sauna area offering a wide range of wellness and natural healing options, this place is unforgettable. The backdrop of the Alps, combined with the charm of the beautiful town of Leukerbad, makes the experience even more magical. We stayed from 8 in the morning until 8 at night and enjoyed every moment. The pools are soothing, the atmosphere is rejuvenating, and the spa treatments are exceptional. Be sure to request Nicole for your massage or treatment, as her care and expertise make the day even more special. From bathing in the thermal waters to indulging in the wellness services, the hours simply slipped away in pure relaxation and joy. This is not just a place to visit, it is a place to linger. A single day is wonderful, but a few days are ideal in order to fully enjoy both the Therme and the many beautiful hikes that surround Leukerbad. Between the healing waters, the serenity of the spa, and the natural beauty of the Alps, this is truly a destination like no other. If you are searching for an experience that combines wellness, fun, and breathtaking scenery, the Leukerbad Therme is perfect. It is a place to restore body and spirit, to laugh and relax, and to create memories that will last forever.

I have absolutely loved it. There are so many things to do: water slides, outdoor and indoor pool, pool bar, sauna and so on. There are also facilities to people with children. Minuses: - Towel is not included, so bring yours. - We did not find any water fountains.

Worth doing at least once ! I really enjoy the place… you can just swim on top, or slide in the tube with the kids!! Or just relax on the other level, where water is just so great…

I have visited this location during both the winter and late summer seasons, and the views were consistently impressive. The water temperature was notably pleasant. While the buildings exhibit some age, the environment offers a relaxing and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages. Furthermore, the pricing is quite reasonable, especially for Swiss standards. The facility also provides a small dining area for guests who wish to bring and consume their own meals.
Heeky Y — Google review
I liked the landscape and the diversity of options, both indoors and outdoors. I didn't find the installations particularly beautiful, but they were clean, perfectly working, and all seemed fairly priced. We didn't wait, and the employees were very welcoming.
Smlvcfncst — Google review
The main indoor and outdoor pools look newly renovated and are in excellent condition. There’s also a children’s pool and a small play area, which makes it great for families. The spa area is in good shape, though a bit small. It includes a steam bath, three or four saunas at different temperatures, and a cold-water pool outside. The spa area is nude-only, and access to it costs an additional 15 CHF. Overall, a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

Lake Thun is a stunning alpine lake located in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. It offers a range of activities such as kayaking, boat rentals, hiking trails, and swimming beaches. The town of Interlaken serves as an excellent base for exploring the region, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz with easy access to the iconic Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger mountains.
A gorgeous stretch of blue and teal with trees on either side of the water is nothing short of spectacular. I was completely in awe when we got on the boat. The lake was magnificent and the colours were gorgeous. We saw houses on the edge of the lake and mountains hovering near them. There was also a small waterfall somewhere in the middle. But as the evening progressed, the winds became extremely cold to a point where it became intolerable and we had to step inside. The boat itself was quite old, beautiful, and well-maintained. There is a restaurant and a snack bar but you will need to be seated in the dining area to be served. It can get crowded so you may want bring some snacks and beverages for the long ride. P.S. A Swiss Travel Pass is an ideal option to avoid long queues.

Lake Thun has absolutely amazing scenery. We spent almost an entire day there and still couldn't get enough. Starting in the morning, we enjoyed the view from St. Beatus Cave, getting a panoramic picture of the lake from above. Then we continued our adventure by ship, circling the lake and savoring every corner. The lake has very clear water, with beautiful typical farmhouses and the Swiss Alps in the background, adding to the picturesque setting. Every corner of the lake was stunning, perfect for healing and taking a break from your busy life.

Thun Castle, a 12th-century hilltop fortress in the canton of Bern, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Bernese Alps and Lake Thun. The castle's picturesque setting and pointed turrets make it feel like something out of a fairy tale. Visitors can explore the museum inside, which displays local history artifacts such as prehistoric and Roman relics, tapestries, majolica, and armor.
Wow my favorite part of thun! If you are visiting interlaken, stop by this amazing cute place!! It’s super peaceful and quiet and cute! Away from tourists!!! A bunch of locals. Loved the castle! And it’s free!

We were in the area on vacation and decided to take a train down to Thun and look around. The castle is very prominent on the skyline and looks quite interesting. We walked though the building and looked at the various displays which were well done. Centuries of history briefly summarized. The building itself is the main attraction. We went all the way to the top into the corner towers. The roof structure was amazing. Definitely recommend!
Karl P — Google review
Castle Thun is a must-see when visiting the town! The displays and information are well-curated, making it easy to explore everything in just 2–3 hours. There are also interactive sections, like the wooden architecture exhibit in the attic and rooftop area, and the fascinating collection of ancient armors and weapons. The castle is well-maintained, easy to navigate, and offers a great balance of history and experience.
BA — Google review
Worth the trip. The castle is stunning and you can see artefacts of the Old Swiss Confederacy, such as halberds, tapestries and armors. The Knight's room and the room under the roof where particularly stunning. On top of that, 4 towers flanking the roof are accessible and give you wonderful views of the city
Sebastien F — Google review
The basic castle tour was interesting, but I was disappointed to find that there were virtually no period furnishings in any of the rooms. The audio tour aid added tremendously to the understanding of the castle history. Look closely, though, to find the signs which indicate when to use the audio aid. I recommend paying the extra fee to use it. I enjoyed the views from the tower. I paid extra for the special exhibit, which I didn't feel was worth the fee; skip it unless you are interested in forms of medieval punishment.
Michael A — Google review
Definitely do the audio tour if you come here! Beautiful castle with a lot of history and amazing views from the top! No need to book tickets in advance

Thun castle does not match the vibe of other castles of Switzerland like Gruyère castle and Chillion castle. The castle is poor in terms of content and exhibits. Not much to explore inside. The staff is very friendly and there are free locker rooms available to keep your luggage. The best part was the top level of Thun castle from where you get 4 different panoramic views of Thun city and Lake Thun. If you are visiting Thun city then definitely visit this place otherwise skip it. Entry to Thun castle is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

Hidden gems in canton Wallis/Valais. If you like hiking, come here. It’s not too hot because it’s a small canal (bises in French) and the other side you can found amazing view. There are 4 suspension bridges. If you are afraid of the height, don’t try it because you have to come back through same route. Means it’s 8 bridges 😃 It’s not for people with wheelchairs/strollers or have difficulty to walk. Some area is good for family if your kids like to walk. There is coffee shop in the middle of your route.

Museums
Zentrum Paul Klee, located in Bern, Switzerland, is a unique art museum dedicated to the renowned Swiss artist Paul Klee. Opened in 2005, it houses the world's most important collection of Klee's works, showcasing around 4000 pieces, which make up 40% of his oeuvre. The museum features two exhibition halls displaying paintings, drawings, and watercolors by the artist.
I'm a fan of Klee's work and in so far as I have a 'bucket list' this was on it. I wasn't disappointed. The gallery shows a rotating selection of Klee's work, so what I saw won't necessarily be what you see, but I found the walk through his life, the description of his thoughts on what painting is, the use of colour and form, highly informative. In addition there are guest exhibitions. The Zentrum itself is a wonderful building, modern and light, with a good café.
Paul B — Google review
We visited the Paul Klee Museum on the recommendation of a friend. Although I enjoyed the experience overall, and the architecture of the museum is truly stunning, I was a bit disappointed by how few of Klee’s actual works were on display during our visit. The layout and building itself are worth seeing, but I didn’t feel it was great value for money at 15 francs per ticket. If you’re a big fan of modern architecture or Klee’s work, it may still be worth a visit—just check what’s currently on exhibition first.
John B — Google review
Very little of Paul Klee's artwork is on show. The other exhibitions are junk. The architecture is unremarkable, like an airport. Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern is a museum dedicated to the Swiss artist Paul Klee, housing around 4,000 of his works along with rotating exhibitions. Designed by Renzo Piano and completed in 2005, the building features three undulating steel-and-glass “hills” emerging from a landscaped site.

Fascinating look into the variety of styles developed by Klee. Only a small portion of the museum‘s collection is displayed at one time, so changes are frequent.
David N — Google review
Brilliant, but a somewhat smaller collection once inside than the exterior size of the gallery indicates. Great demonstration of the breadth of Klee’s work. Look for the special bus route to get there.

We were not able to have a table by the side, with the amazing view as we had not made a reservation. We came here on a whim. We were given 2 other seating options, 1 which we were warned we would be hit by the sun soon and the other on the other side near the kids playground on the high chair stools and table. The waitress who served us was super busy, there was a large party of 10 or so and lots of other small tables she was serving. She did her best to keep everyone happy. There was a bit of a wait time to order. Once the food came, it tasted good. However due to being summer, wasps started to appear and take over. The toilets are inside, downstairs, they were clean. Upon exiting the building we saw a huge amount of salad plates ready to go just sat on the side. Overall, it was good.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the city. In a hot summer day you will not be able to dine inside because it’s extremely hot and there isn’t AC. We dined at the patio and unfortunately were invaded by dozens of flies as soon as our food was received. We prompted to move everything inside. Service is mediocre.

Great place and truly scenery. Quality service and quality food. Thanks to the Chef and team. I’ll repeat the visit whenever back to Bern. If you choose to come from the down town of Bern; be prepared to pull enough energy to walk up thru the hill, which is a nice little warm up and workout before arriving to the restaurant. Also, it’ll be great to spot coupe or bears from the bridge while heading to the restaurant.

A breathtaking spiritual and architectural experience. Visiting St-Nicolas Cathedral was one of the highlights of my time in Fribourg. The moment you step inside, you’re struck by the sheer beauty and grandeur of this incredible Gothic structure. The stained-glass windows are absolutely stunning — each one tells a story, with colors and details that catch the light in the most magical way. The play of sunlight through the glass fills the space with warmth and reverence. It’s a place that invites both quiet reflection and deep appreciation for art and craftsmanship. The organ is magnificent, and although I didn’t catch a live performance, I can only imagine how powerful it must sound echoing through the cathedral’s vast interior. Whether you’re religious or simply interested in history and architecture, this cathedral is a must-visit. There’s a sense of calm and sacredness that fills the air, and you can really feel the soul of Fribourg in this space. I highly recommend climbing the bell tower (if it’s open when you visit) — the panoramic views over the old town and surrounding countryside are unforgettable. A true treasure of Fribourg. Don’t miss it.

Beautiful church with peaceful pipe organ music, I especially love the stained glass windows. Going up the church for panoramic view: It's worth taking 365 steps of stairs up. Ticket price is Chf5 and available for purchase at tourist counter No.8 No wheel chair access. is at the tourist point No.8

A beautiful Roman Catholic cathedral built in the Gothic style, with many amazing Art Nouveau stained-glass windows. Free entry.

Beautiful. After viewing the church, be sure to climb the tower for spectacular views.

Amazing view! Pay 5 Fr. (student / child price available) at the cathedral shop next to the church and you will get a ticket to climb the stairs (368 steps 😬) at the left side of the church (another door).

Beautiful cathedral! The stained glass, relics, statues organ and more make this a great stop. They had great pamphlets available in multiple languages and really interesting history.

Nice homie café-bar-restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Food and drinks have good quality and price. The hosts Valeria and Antonio are very friendly. It is very much worth visiting, I recommend :)

Worth to see. In fact, as I could observe this funicular is not spectacular. It's just small and short ride really, but it's a must do in Fribourg. A bit of the history of the city as it connects the old town with the new. I also in another day climbed the stairs next to it, which is not that exhausting. The funicular itself is made of wood and is quite old, which makes it special for me. ****

The price is included in the day ticket. So we thought we should try it. It's travels very short distance. It's not spectacular but an ok experience. Anyways there is not many touristy thing to visit near fribourg city center, so it can be visited once.

(Translated by Google) Reopened at the beginning of April 2025, I went to try the Funi steak. Just excellent with the homemade sauce. There is also the vegan version for those who don't want meat. Impeccable service, smiling sommelier and friendly boss. Lots of decoration around the history of the funicular and the Cardinal brewery. In short, to recommend.

Museum / model train 'The Railways Kaeserberg'

Mentioned on

Museum
Conference center
The Railways Kaeserberg is a museum that houses an impressive model of a railway network, complete with trains, houses, and other elements of Swiss daily life. The meticulous construction of the model took 17 years to complete. Visitors are taken on a nostalgic journey reminiscent of childhood memories spent building model railways with family. The attention to detail in the model is evident, featuring various trains from different countries of the same era.
A great place for kids and adults, my little one was all excited. Big thank you to the people there who were really helpful and let my son go backstage. An unforgettable experience for him. Only bad point: entrance fee can be steep for a whole family.

Well explained, beautifully executed model. Difficult to reach, because quite off the beaten path. Plenty of free parking spots, half of which are covered / in shadows.

Watching the video which proceeds the visit of the maquette, catapulted me straight to my childhood. All the memories of spending hours and hours building our own model railway together with my grandfather. Only just that already made the visit worthwhile. Apart from that I can only say: impressive! I can't imagine how much effort went into building the Kaeserbergbahn from scratch (looking at their computerised system, I guess they've started building the railway way before digital controls became mainstream). Chemins de fer du Kaeserberg is definitely worth a visit for anyone who likes model trains as well as for families. It would be nice to see children gain more interest again in model trains. ❤

The timetable on Google maps is not accurate! We came all the way from Bulle to find the museum closed on a Wednesday. Their opening days are pretty random. I would call them before making your way there. (Update) The owner replied to my review. That's nice. Increase from 1 to 3 stars :-)

The mandatory movie was too long. Price CHF 18 quite high when the place was so small. Of course nice details with the train and cute place.

As much attention was put to the museum itself as to the tracks. Amazing !

Amazing experience. It is very well managed, and the attention to detail is really great. Unfortunately, the explanation was in French and German. As we speak only English. So hopefully they have in english as well om future.
