If I could give 6 stars I would! An absolutely incredible day from the pick up from town in a comfortable van by Aaron right to the end. It was a stunning hour drive to the farm and with some really quick and clear instruction by Anna we were out on the dogs in no time. After a long and beautiful run up and down hills we returned to the house for lunch and to get to know our hosts. They were kind and friendly and taught us all about the dogs and life as a musher. We loved that it was a small group of only 8 and out in the mountains meant our tour went ahead on a stunning blue sky day whilst many larger tours were cancelled. Do not hesitate to book with Northern Light Dog Adventures! Thank you Thomas, Aaron and Anna!
Emma W — Google review
So many german reviews so i write one in english - not my first language so please be kind. Now the actual review: That was absolutly awesome! We pre booked another Tour from another company but it got cancelled on us last minute because of the autum rain. So we decided to book one day before having this Tour and cakled about cancelation but they were like: we don't cancel unless there is a hazard warnung. Eventhough it was raining cats and dogs it was an absolute Highlight of our Trip! They Provide you with warerproof Equipment, so don't worry about a thing. The dogs want to run and are super friendly, as well are the owners. We had such a great time and hope to return in Winter with snow :)
Viv G — Google review
Completely exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our trip to Tromso! The whole service; from the explanations, conversation, extra clothing, teas and coffees after the sledding was absolutely perfect! I really enjoyed how you could ride yourself and it wasn’t just on flat ground, you were going up and down hills as well. Such an adventure, I will carry this memory with me for the rest of my life! Everyone in the family is so lovely also.
Iris D — Google review
We had such a great time on this tour. It's a small norwegean family business tucked away in the mountains. So no tourist trap. Even though it snowed a lot we could drive the sled for one hour. What an amazing feeling being out there with these lovely dogs and driving the sled by yourself. Uphill you need to help them a bit so you need to have a little bit of fitness. The mountains around, just stunning. I can recommend it to anyone!!! It's an experience you'll never forget in your life.
Jules P — Google review
Fantastic experience, authentic and beautiful location. Tomas and team keep it simple and make it memorable. The dogs are the stars of the show! Don’t forget to take a lunch and wear comfortable clothing - but good quality oversuits are provided. This is a small family business and well worth supporting - they’re the best!
Nick W — Google review
Fantastic! Exceeded all expectations. The team was great and we learned a lot about the sport. Everything was well prepared and ready to go before we arrived. They had additional clothes and provided warm drinks for after the sledding. The dogs are super friendly and well cared for. Would definitely return to do this again!
Ben G — Google review
Northern Light Dog Adventure does an exceptionally well dogsledding experience. These guys take pride in providing a small group experience and when we went it was just my wife and I which was great because they were able to personalize the experience to suite us. We took the sleds through all types of different, beautiful and challenging terrain and even took us to create new trails! The dogs seem very well taken care of too. If you enjoy the "real" experience, small groups and don't enjoy the large tourist traps this is the place for you.
James D — Google review
This is a must visit place if you in the area. Thomas and his furry children made the ride smooth and worry free. Amazing views. Everything is well organized, instructions given were clear. Just use common sense, natural balance, control the speed and enjoy the ride.

The ice climbing trip is just a fantastic experience and a must if you are visiting the area. I have done this previously and will be happy to do it again. A big thank you to Ulla and Mikal because you made this a very enjoyable and memorable day last Sunday. Your expertise gave me the confidence and reassurance in the climb. Also a big thank you to Jem for the tour on the snowmobile. Unfortunately the warm weather made the conditions not ideal but It was still a great day from start to finish. All of the activities that I have done have been first class but it is the people at Lyngen Adventure that make it so much more. You guys are the biz.
Mark B — Google review
We booked the ice climbing experience just after New year's and had an incredible outing. At the office in Lyngseidet we were fitted with the necessary equipment and then our group of five was driven to a trailhead where we started our access to the frozen waterfall. The two guides set up topropes (safest way of climbing, no risk of a fall) and then we took turns up the ice. We started in arctic winter dusk/dawn and climbed into the dark before we retreated into a Lavvu (traditional Sami tent) for a fire, soup and traditional local snacks on reindeer hides. The guys not only took care of our safety but gave a lot of insights into the local flora, fauna, culture and other topics of interest. All in all a wonderful trip that we can recommend to any outdoorsy traveller in the Lyngen Alps. The program offered by Lyngen Adventure far exceeded our expectations.

Firstly, fantastic crew here, enthusiastic and friendly. Distillery Tour is very personal and a real surprise. Also a nice retreat to come read a book and have proper espresso coffee with a view over the fjord. Pro-tip: Gin & Tonics are exceptional, and best kept secret is a "Rusty Nail" whisky cocktail
None O — Google review
My husband loves whisky and I booked the tour and lunch as part of a birthday surprise for him. The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly and it was such an interesting tour or what is a pretty unique experience in Norway. The whisky is actually made with glacial water and smells and tastes so beautiful. They also make gin and the Norwegian traditional drink Aquavit. We also stayed at their cabins which I cannot recommend enough.

We had an amazing visit with a small group! They do everything with passion, products are tasty, and food at dinner was excellent and local! Small cabins were with beautiful few to the sea and breakfast was really nice! High recommendation for everyone to visit!

Best experience of our Norway visit. Would recommend this activity for all dog lovers. Very impressive to witness how Tommy interacts with the dogs and takes care of them. After the sledding we had some coffee and tea at the beach hut with a camp fire. Tommy is very knowledgeable about the area and nature, we learned a lot and enjoyed his stories
NoaSeegers — Google review
We really enjoyed the dog sledding trip. We loved the fact that we were our own small group and we could not only ride the dogs, but also harness them ourselves and pet them. It was snowing and it was just magical in the woods! Tommy told us a lot about the dogs and the living in Norway. It was a very entertaining and heartwarming evening!🐕‍🦺🥰
Evgeniia G — Google review
Incredible day out with the dogs. Tommy is a great guide who clearly loves his dogs dearly. We took a half day as it hadn't snowed, and it was the experience of a lifetime! Tommy also let us walk some dogs and took us for a sunset tea while he told us stories of dog sledding and answered all our questions. It was a highlight of our trip! Definitely worth every penny
Capucine J — Google review
Amazing Journey on saturday with Tommy et dogs ....So simple and warming welcome ...preparing the dog ,contact with them and Tommy is very easy to speak about all his wonderworld ...The snow was here, very early for the season and so fresh ...the dogs were happy for this first snow and us too ...all was very magical ...tanks for this enchanted parenthèses. A real passion for Tommy not a commercial business, that makes us à different experience. Thank you Tommy
Sandrine D — Google review
This was one of the highlights of our trip, Tommy is passionate about what he does, the dogs are incredibly well taken care of, and the experience was top notch. It was very fun to learn how to mush, pet the dogs and hear Tommy’s stories.
Olivia R — Google review
Absolutely fantastic - couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough. We did the half day and it was SO fun. Tommy is brilliant and so knowledgeable (ask him about his dog sledding races!!). This is so special because you get to harness the dogs, learn all about the sled and drive them yourself. There’s the option to sit on Tommy’s sled for the circuits if the driving makes you nervous. The dogs are SO fun and friendly and fast!
Jessica C — Google review
Incredible experience with Tommy as the guide. The dogs are well looked after and a part of the family. The sledding was fantastic and Tommy was very informative about the sport and the way of life in Norway. I highly recommend this tour, don't go wasting your money with the larger companies and book direct with the super Team Lyngen
Sukhdev G — Google review
Just do this! We had a perfect afternoon with Tommy and the dogs. The day turned into the highlight of our trip. Tommy educated the group on care of the dogs, race culture, and ensured everyone was comfortable and had fun driving the scenic landscape. It helped that was also had a gorgeous day with fresh snowfall. We would absolutely do this again (and would love to take our teens next time). Highly recommend!

Even though you are a little bit to the South, this place I've found better than Nordkap: not so many people and the view is better as there are few islands you can see, not just the ocean.

funny! coming to Havøysund we expected to be having some bland rustic stew knocked up by some bored chef... instead we ended up fine dining! extremely fancy, pretentious (...and pricey). My husband and i travelled the world, but this was by far the best cerviche we've ever had. To the Danish chef: We salute you! Unfortunately they were out of Sami craft beer... and it seems every new customer coming in asked for the same, so maybe you want to re-think the amount you order

The Struve Geodetic Arc Norway

Historical landmark

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Struve Geodetic Arc in Norway is a UNESCO-listed project dating back to 1816, aimed at accurately measuring the Earth's size and shape. This geodetic arc spans from Norway to the Black Sea and comprises triangulation points used in the 19th century for these calculations. The monument, inscribed in Norwegian and Latin, sits atop a mound with wheelchair-friendly access. Visitors can enjoy English information about the arc and area, as well as stunning views of the harbor.
Very interesting. If you have an interest in science, navigation or charts this is well worth a visit. A monument to the truly remarkable accomplishments of humans before our modern technology. These guys were made of tougher stuff. It’s worth visiting and reading about. Gives you an appreciation for our easy technology and transport.
‘Talie W — Google review
I noticed that there was a UNESCO site here, but really had no idea what it was all about. after a bit of research, it appears that the Struve Arc is a chain of survey triangulations stretching from Hammerfest in Norway to the Black Sea, traversing 10 countries and over 2,820 km. These survey points were carried out from 1816-1855 by astronomer Friedrich Georg Wilhelm Struve. They represented the first accurate measuring of a long segment of a meridian which helped to establish the exact size and shape of the planet and marked an important step in the development of earth sciences and topographic mapping. The 'monument' itself then is a placeholder for a survey point and represents this mathematical and engineering historical event.
Graham T — Google review
This point is historical and interest to see. But be careful, if Hurtigruten arrives same time and lot of travelers comes to see this. Then it is difficult to take pictures etc.. Generally Hammerfest is nice north place, where most of places are easy to reach by walking. But route between Skaidi - Hammerfest have lot constructions in summer 2024. Next summer can be better to drive there.

Museum of Reconstruction

Mentioned on

Specialty Museums
The Museum of Reconstruction in Finnmark and Northern Troms offers a compelling look into the region's recovery after World War II. Through original film, photographs, and town artifacts, visitors can learn about the destruction caused by the war and the subsequent rebuilding efforts that led to the construction of thousands of new homes. The museum also showcases how this reconstruction influenced Norwegian design trends beyond the region. With engaging displays, architectural plans, and a viewing gallery offering panoramic views, it provides an immersive experience for all ages.
Excellent museum, kids enjoyed it. Much more engaging than I imagined and happy to highly recommend it! Fantastic room reconstructions, and architectural plans and views from the tower viewing gallery. A highlight of our trip.
Greg S — Google review
One of the best small museums in Norway. The exhibit is about the reconstruction time after WW2 Make sure you go to the 4 th floor for the view
Andrea W — Google review
Very interesting museum, dealing largely with what happened in Northern Norway during WW2, and how it was rebuilt afterwards. I could have spent longer there if I'd had the time. The view over the town of Hammerfest from the 4th floor of the tower is well worth it. Tickets were very reasonable in price also.
Carl M — Google review
The main exhibition was very interesting, exhibits have info in Norwegian and English, and we heard a guide giving a talk in German and English. Lots of photos, plus other exhibits (clothing, furniture etc) and mock-ups of rooms in a standard post-war house. Cafe also good; basic coffee and cakes. There were a couple of other rooms with text only in Norwegian, and a viewing tower which offers good views of the town and surrounds.
Steve G — Google review
Unexpectedly interesting, with the bonus that you get to go to the tower and have a great 360 view of the town. I am very happy I visited it and highly recommend it!
Poli H — Google review
Absolutely fantastic museum showing one of the not so well known aspects of WW2 - the "scorched earth" burning of entire towns along the Norwegian coast by the retreating Germans, and the massive reconstruction that was necessary after the war ended.
Marc S — Google review
An amazing display of occupation and evacuation hardships in northern Norway in WWII. Everything was burned in the later part of the wat, when German army was retreating. Then followed the Reconstruction, the building of 10,000 or so new homes to bring people back. These were used to 'norwegianise' Finnmark by introducing uniform dwellings, but also brought new designs in furniture and homewares which became popular far beyond the region. Area around this museum in Hammerfest is full of Reconstruction homes and has a protected architectural status
Olga T — Google review
A very important and well done museum explaining an important time of norwegian history. Very moving. Highly recommended.

(Translated by Google) In the area of "The Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society," there's absolutely no one to help you. We went there with the intention of becoming members, but the tablets weren't working and no one was there, so 400KON less for the bears. At the tourist office, we were lucky enough to be served by the least clever and least intelligent guy on the planet. It's not worth transcribing the conversation here, but because of him, they gave me a huge fine. Due to scheduling and transportation issues, we could only pay by bank transfer, and adding expenses and everything else they can invent, it doubled. Thanks for nothing, smart guy. The Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society, established in 1963, is dedicated to preserving the culture of Hammerfest. It showcases exhibits on Arctic hunting and local history and shares space with the tourist office. For a fee of 200kr, visitors can become life members and receive a certificate, ID card, sticker, and pin.
Worthwhile stop off. There are of course no polar bears in Hammerfest but if in Arctic Norway, please swing by this excellent exhibit and museum and join this Society! Membership is only possible if you sign up in person. You have to stop in and learn about the significance of this to fully understand, but in any case, it was a memorable visit.
Nate L — Google review
It's a pleasant place to learn about polar bears and the town's brief history. While not large, it's a worthwhile visit, conveniently located in town. The stuffed polar bear makes for a nice photo opportunity, and there's even a souvenir shop if you'd like to purchase some items during your stay in Hammerfest.
Tony C — Google review
Good wee museum. I wouldn’t bother with the rip off society fee…unless that is why you visited. Lots of exhibits and history for a small place. Don’t stroke the polar bear! Gift shop too. One of the best things to do in Hammerfest on a rainy day. Wander around the back of Hammerfest near a lake for wild reindeer.
Jill B — Google review
It's a very small (but free) museum with some interesting historical items and pictures. But it looks like most people come for the kitschy membership to the Society (that's what we and the next 5 people after us came for) that gives you a certificate, a sticker and a small polar bear pin. Docked one star because it used to be about $20, which seemed reasonable for something kind of touristy but fun, but it's now double that (402 NOK), which feels right on the edge of tourist rip off.
Alexandra S — Google review
The organization was founded since 1963. You will see the history and artic animal.
Pitakchai T — Google review
Small place. Just 2 rooms. Showcases arctic animals and hunting equipment used. This was how they survived I that harsh environment before modern times. They also have a nice souvenir shop attached.
Danish P — Google review
What a fun little idea, the membership. Sure, it is a gimmick, but it is super cute and simply a must when you visit Hammerfest! The museum is interesting and the gift shop very good. A recommended attraction for sure!

Great hiking trip. Steep, but not too long. Beautiful surroundings. Remember mosquito repellent.

Aleksander F — Google review
A Breathtaking (Literally!) Hike! Okay, prepare yourselves, because the walk up to Bubbelen source in Langfjordbotn is breathtaking in every sense of the word! The path up is short – only about 650 meters one way – but it's a total leg-burner. We're talking an inclination of roughly 14%! This means it's challenging but totally doable! Just make sure to wear very good shoes, especially if it's been raining – otherwise, descending might feel like an unplanned slip-and-slide. If your knees are already protesting or your fitness routine involves mostly Netflix, you might want to skip this hike. That said, the views during the walk and at the top are magnificent! And the source itself? Wow! The sheer power of the water bursting into such a pristine forest is absolutely enchanting. It's a sight you won't forget. I highly recommend visiting Bubbelen, but please, bring proper gear (and maybe some mosquito repellent!). Also, there are no trash bins, so whatever you bring in (empty snack wrappers, your pride after that climb), please take it back out! Let's keep this beautiful trail clean for everyone.

(Translated by Google) The parking lot is quite large, with room for about 10 cars. A steep but short climb is worthwhile given the current snowmelt. A lot of water shoots out of the mountain. Very nice easy hike once you arrive at the trail head. There are many warnings to pay for parking earlier because of bad cell service higher up, but we had no problem with cell service the entire hike to the waterfall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A nice view and the bridge was big and sturdy. If you don't want to hike from all the way down, there is a road that takes you almost all the way, only a small hike of 1.8 km if you drive to the end. The road is a bit steep and challenging, with sheep walking/sleeping along the way.
Emelie H — Google review
Easy walk. Good path with hardly any elevation change. I wouldn't recommend going with a stroller though because there are some rocks on the path. You can do it if your stroller has big wheels but it will be unpleasant. The parking costs about 170NOK or 15EUR per day on the Easypark app.

Loved it! Breathtaking view. I had seen a lot of pictures before visiting, but it did not prepare me for it. It cannot be captured in an image! Short, easy hike to the bridge. Don't forget to pay for parking. The road to the last parking is rocky, drive carefully.

Absolutely awesome experience. We visited the place outside the bungee jump hours, so there wasn't that many people around. If you're not into jumping, I recommend visiting some other day when there isn't jumpers around as you can enjoy the views from the bridge in peace. Walk to the bridge is filled with nice views and there is also a fireplace with seats in some point of the trail. Highly recommended! PS. People with fear of heights might feel some anxiety on the bridge as the canyon is really deep :)

The Tirpitz Museum is a small but fascinating museum dedicated to the destruction of the Battleship Tirpitz. Despite its size, it houses a unique collection of artifacts and provides interesting details about the famous vessel. Visitors can learn lesser-known facts from knowledgeable guides. The museum features historical photos, items, and models related to World War II. It also offers a movie showcasing the ship's journey from launch to sinking.
The museum is small. It has a very large range of relics belonging to Tirpitz. Along with other artifacts from WW2. There is a movie showing the entire ship process. From launching into the sea to the stages that lead to its sinking. I believe the content is well presented and in chronological order. Entry cost around €10 and was worth every penny. Highly recommended visit.
Cesar S — Google review
We had a very informative and interesting visit to the Tirpitz Museum. Even, the owner and curator of the museum, was very passionate in sharing information, explaining details and history to us; he even delayed his closing time by an hour to entertain our questions! We are very impressed by the quality of exhibits, documentary and descriptions provided in the museum, and would definitely recommend anyone, especially WWII history buffs, to come and visit.

Archaeological museum
Alta Museum - World Heritage Center for Rock carvings is located in Hjemmeluft, offering breathtaking views of the Alta Fjord. The museum showcases Sami culture, Finnmark military history, the Alta hydroelectric project, and the northern lights. Its main attraction is an open-air exhibit featuring around 6000 late Stone Age carvings on the cliffs, a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back 6000 to 2000 years ago.
Very well constructed museum and visitor center. Entry prices are not that high (compared to Norwegian standard of course) and there is even a little discount for seniors and students. The outside trails can be easily completed in 1-2 hours max. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, you could sense that they love working there and are passionate about the history of the place
Fekete M — Google review
The open air concept of the museum is fantastic. This is a must visit especially in the snow-free periods, as you can walk along rock carvings from thousands of years ago. The pathes are prepared very nicely and are easy to walk.
Matthias K — Google review
Excellent small museum about the history of the area. The petroglyphs were very interesting to see, but a lot of the uncolored ones are depending on lighting very difficult to see. The area is beautiful while walking the path to see the petroglyphs. If you are short on time the short path is an easy walk with plenty to see. This section has the painted glyphs which makes them very easy to see. The audio tour is very good which can be run by your cellphone.

This was Magic! Seeing all this rock engravings outside the Museum, with very good information. And the inside was really stunning! On the latest state of the art for knowledge transfer. A Lot of information about the historic cultures and Norwegian history packed into various stations of interaction and edutainment. Could have stayed for the whole day!
Christina M — Google review
Fantastic place to visit absolutely amazing to learn the history of Norway and see the rock carvings. Very informative and has a nice cafe with good food too. Amazing that the toilet in the building is part of a bomb shelter too that was a bit surreal. Staff where also very friendly.

Very interesting piece of history and beautiful views. Three indoor exhibitions. Two circuits outside, shorter and longer or you can combine both. Dogs are not allowed inside, but allowed on the outdoor circuits, which is great. Large parking. We spent about two hours here because we arrived late, but it was still worth it. The indoor areas close at 5pm, but you can stay in outside part after 5pm.

If you are someone who enjoys visiting exhibitions, this museum is ideal for you. It not only presents the history of ancient stone carvings, but also offers a range of other fascinating historical exhibits. Unfortunately, due to snowfall, the outdoor section was closed to visitors.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of The Northern Lights is a modern concrete and titanium church known for its striking design both inside and out. Located in Alta, Norway, it offers visitors a range of activities throughout the year. In summer, travelers can enjoy road trips through the Arctic landscape and experience vibrant Sami culture. During winter, the cathedral provides an ideal spot to witness the Northern Lights away from crowded tourist destinations like Tromso.
This was one of my very 1st stops when I visited Alta, Norway. I was stuck by the photos I had seen online and wanted the opportunity to see it for myself, and it definitely didn't disappoint! The architecture was impressive, and sleek! I have seen some of the negative reviews for this cathedral, mainly due to the entry fee to go inside. But for me the exterior was my primary focus, so not paying to go inside was fine with me. If you visit Alta, I'm not sure how you can come and go without visiting this wonderful place. I enjoyed it so much I came back for nighttime photos!
David K — Google review
A well known modern structure in Alta, reflecting the famous characteristics of the capital of the Northern Lights. It looks more like a spaceship than a church, with steel exterior and a steeple resembling a new aged chimney. Good attraction for tourism. Not a religious person, I did not go inside, there was a few people queueing for tickets. It's appx $10 usd. This new church is not far from the main area, with a few shops around and local buses run frequently. There's a smaller church within 10 mins walk, it is worth a visit, also.
G D — Google review
Beautiful church, interesting blend metal wood and minimalist sacred articles. The Northern Lights video is worth seeing as it is presented 4K. Access is very easy, there are several busses that run by it. It is also very close to a major market area with great restaurants nearby so it can be a made a part that trip.
Matti S — Google review
Northern Lights Cathedral is a very impressing monument built in concrete and steel. Its tower reflects even the northern lights during bright nights in winter time. The church usually opens at Lunchtime. During summer between 9 am and 3 pm, in winter time from 1 pm to 3 pm

Very cool and different church. Definitely something to see if you have time. Also a great way to support locals. You have to buy a ticket to enter.
Karl V — Google review
It's a unique and beautifully designed church. To see the inside as a parishioner or even as a visitor would be fine, but as a "tourist " I'll save you the quickest 7 dollars you'd probably ever spend to see one room inside a church. My advice is take it in from the outside.
Ron M — Google review
Stunning from the outside. The architecture is incredible. There's a very small fee to enter and you have to pay extra to watch a 20 minute video about the northern lights if you want to see it. The inside of the church is also very impressive, but I somehow expected more colour, with it being the Cathedral of the northern lights. Still definitely worth a visit as it's a very unusual place to see.

Alta Canyon

Alta Canyon offers a relatively flat 7 km route with some easy river crossings, so it's advisable to wear waterproof shoes. The trailhead can be found near Gargia Lodge, about a 15-minute drive from Alta. Despite some incorrect map locations, the canyon is known for its extraordinary scenery, especially at sunset. It's often referred to as the 'Grand Canyon' of Northern Europe and is highly recommended for nature enthusiasts.
A must visit place if you are in the Finnmark Area! What a surreal beauty this canyon holds, I was awe-struck driving through this place and the majestic rocks sanding tall by the road and you could see the beauty of its shadows laying on the frosty rocks which are dripping while the sun shines over the crystellic shine.

The Canyon could have been beautiful for sure, but the trail was way too demanding with a forceful stream to cross bare-footed only 1.3 km before the canyon. There were two families carrying babies on their backpacks hoping to make it to the site, but it was simply too dangerous. Thanks for the 19 km walk though (extra thanks to Google map for saying the Lodge was the trailhead…)

Not here, but if you want to hike there: Search for "Alta Canyon Trail Head" on google maps. Then you'll find an easy and beautiful 6km (one way so 12km total) leading to a view of the canyon. It's southeast of Gargia, next a dirt road where it's still easy to drive on.

This map location is still wrong as of Dec 2022 despite numerous reports, possibly due to the also wrong location on the official website (visit Norway). Search for “Alta Canyon Trail Head” instead, which is down the road from Gargia Lodge.

I recommend it to everyone who likes Norwegian nature

It’s cool, the walk to it was cooler

As others have pointed out, the dot is placed incorrectly on Google maps: instead search for Gargia lodge, a drive of about 15 minutes from Alta, from there you can follow a gravel road for about 5km until you reach a car park, there's an easy (slightly rocky) and beautiful 6km hike from there to the canyon.

Trollholmsund, located about 35 km north of Lakselv along the E6 to North Cape, is a small peninsula in the Porsanger Fjord. The area features a unique rock formation known as the Trolls of Trollholmsund, sculpted by wind and sea from Dolomite limestone. Accessible via a short walk, visitors can enjoy free parking for up to four hours and clean facilities.
I visited here on June 22,2023. There are a variety of unique rocks.

It was an interesting hike to the trollhomsund , except that we hiked via a barn cows. It was a bit smelly in part of our hike. All in all , it was an interesting experience.

This is near the car park, not the location of the stones, they're about 1.5km further north, you have to walk along a coastal footpath to reach them.

(Translated by Google) We visited here in July 2024. There are plenty of parking spaces, and there is a very clean toilet in the parking lot. The walk back and forth is about 2.5 km. We had children under the age of 2 and 4 with us, the walk went very well when sometimes we carried them in our arms. You can't walk that path with a stroller. Otherwise, the path was in good condition and very pleasant to walk on. The scenery was really nice. A place worth visiting. When the weather is good, you should bring snacks, there are a couple of places to fry sausages and a toilet by the stone trolls. (Original) Käytiin täällä heinäkuussa 2024. Parkkipaikkoja on mukavasti, parkkikselta löytyy ihan siisti vessa. Maisemat olivat oikein hienot. Käymisen arvoinen paikka. Tänne kannattaa hyvällä säällä ottaa eväät mukaan, kivipeikkojen luota löytyy pari makkaranpaistopaikkaa ja vessakin.

(Translated by Google) We were on our way to North Cape a while ago and discovered this beach by chance. Very impressive and beautiful. Free parking is available. No overnight parking for RVs allowed! After a short walk, you'll see these amazing rock formations, and the sky's the limit for photography and imagination. Very beautiful. If you're already in the area, definitely make the detour.

Stabbursnes Nature Museum

An absolutely amazing little museum packed with information and exhibits about the local wildlife and nature and Sami culture. There is the option to take the audio tour, but we didn't and understood everything very easily because we're from Finland and have basic Swedish language skills. A lot of the exhibits also have information in English. If English is your only language though, I would recommend taking the audio tour. At the end we were offered the chance to watch a short 20 minute video and I'm so glad we did. The video was fantastic and actually quite moving, showing the way norwegian people live alongside and as part of nature. I have no idea why it touched me in the way it did. Perhaps that's the kind of life I long for, and perhaps the life humans are really supposed to have. I 100 percent recommend calling in if you're coming this way. It's a real gem of a museum❤️

We did a tour inside. Museum is not too big but there's plenty of information available. For non-nordic speakers, I strongly recommend an audio tour to understand the exhibition. Staff is friendly and helpful

Nice place. I'm very excited. I have never seen museum with natural sound and nice exebition. Tusen takk - Stabbursnes nature museum. I will be back again with my family. Greetings from Bulgaria.

Not a lot to explore in the museum! Better to spend time outside watching for the birds or the salmons in the river. There is a tourist office to have informations you'll need!
