Mikri Ammos Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
The beach is crystal clear, very friendly atmosphere and the service is very quick and polite. Cocktails are a must try, and the food is very good as well. Parking space is free and has a lot of shadow to keep the car cool and the beach bar is next to the sea. The prices are more in the expensive side but affordable. Really enjoyable experience.

Nia T — Google review
Absolutely loved Mikri Ammos Beach in Sivota! Beautiful crystal-clear waters, stylish beach bar, and a relaxing vibe. I got there with a rental car from Rental 13 — everything was smooth and professional. Highly recommend both the beach and Rental 13 for an amazing summer trip!
Ilda C — Google review
It's a gorgeous beach with a beach bar and sunbeds, but the vibe isn't welcoming. 😕 The place wasn't packed, yet all the sunbeds were "reserved" with towels. 🤔 They seemed selective about who could use them. 🙄 We got a table, then were moved to a tiny one by the entrance. 😠
Ema — Google review
The beach bar and the beach are beautiful, but you can not stay there. All sand beds were empty and they told us that they are reserved. If you want to feel hummliated you go to Mikri Amos beach
Marija J — Google review
5 stars for the place: the beach and the bar. 2 stars for the staff. You could experience a real paradox here: on one of the most beautiful beaches in the area you could have a really unpleasant experience because of the beach bar staff. We arrived at 10.00 am on the beach. Everything was a mess. Almost every sun lounger had lots of rubbish around it. We chose one set, with rubbish under the table and under the beds of course. I went up to a staff lady to ask if the beach was open. Nice lady, surrounded by a bunch of other colleagues getting ready to start the day She told me that the bar wasn't open yet, so I'd better not sit on a sun lounger because when she had the reservation list at 10.30, she might get me up. After I made her understand that I had chosen a lounger sitting in the "no reservation" area, we simply started having the real conversation on the real topic:the litter. She explains to me that a party had been held here the day before. Okay, I can understand, I used to go to parties like that. No reaction to the garbage. When I asked her when they would collect it, she said they would open the bar at 10.30, which means someone would come to the beach at that time to pick it up. I felt like I was losing my temper, but kindly explained that I wasn't going to sit with that rubbish under my nose for the next half hour. Eventually, we were able to come to an agreement: someone from the staff would come in the next few minutes to pick up the trash. It happened. An hour later, around 11.00am, I went to the bar to get a coffee. Sitting for more than 10 minutes at the high tables, no waitress came to take my order. After calling one of them, the girl approached and told me straight out that tables would be reserved for lunch starting at 12:30. I pointed to the clock which showed it was only 11.00 and asked if I may order a coffee at that hour. She smiled and brought me my coffee. Within 15 minutes, all the tables (I mean ALL of them) were full with people ordering from the bar. It's such a shame that working in such a nice place you can ruin someone’s day beeing so unconcerned about the needs of your customers. In fact, I don’t think it’s their fault as employees. I really believe is the management creating this kind of environment and investing so little in staff training. Such a pitty…it’s such a nice place here! 😞
Sorin F — Google review
Very nice beach not too crowded and available parking space!
Thanasis K — Google review
Sandy beach with excellent water colors, which make it ideal for children. The beach is also organized with a cantina where you can get water, coffee and snacks. There are also sunbeds which you can rent. But to the extreme, VIP customers get special treatment and this ruins everything.

Highly recommended. We spent an amazing day cruising around Paxos and Anti-Paxos visiting carefully chosen swimming spots, caves and amazing beaches, accompanied with tasty snacks along the way. Thanks to both men for looking after me, especially after the wasp sting!
J X — Google review
We went on a day trip to the caves and antipaxoi. It was a bit pricey but the experience was amazing. I would recommend it. Some of the beaches we visited were pretty amazing.
Anastasios V — Google review
Outstanding professionals with top-quality boats! It was an amazing experience! I rented a boat for 4 days and explored Paxos, Antipaxos, and Syvota in Thesprotia. These are stunning places where the boating experience is truly unique. Panos Boats is by far the best company I have come across in Greece! The staff are exceptional—friendly, cheerful, and incredibly helpful—making you feel as if you’ve known them for years. Thank you so much for offering us this unforgettable experience!
Lambros P — Google review
Excellent experience! Worth to do it. We did a private boat trip. Round of Paxos island seeing all the highlights (beaches, caves, buildings etc..) and finally we reached Antipaxos and swim in the fantastic Voutoumi beach which was magical. P.S: Big credits to our captain Sylvia for all this great experience!
George K — Google review
Very nice experience. We’ve visited some very nice beaches, blue caves and Voutoumi beach in Antipaxos which was amazing! After every stop, a snack was offered on board. The boat was also very clean. It was a little bit pricey, but the experience was worth it!
Maritina M — Google review
We had a great experience boating around Paxos and Antipaxos. The staff are great, helpful and accommodating. This company is doing a great job at it! Thank you again.
Joyce J — Google review
Me and my husband had a private say tour with their most beautiful boat 🥰 Kostas, the skipper was amazing. Made us fall in love with the island. We stoped for pictures, site viewing, swim, coffee, lunch. Everything you wish for a boat trip, you find it with Panos. Totally recommend, definitely will do again! PS.: ask for Maestro locations, you won’t be disappointed 🥰
Lorena P — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our group boat trip around Paxos and Anti Paxos. The boat carries a maximum of 35, we managed to sit at the front of the boat and would recommend if you want to be fully in the sunshine and in prime positions for photos and best views. We went to various spots around Paxos and then onto Voutoumi beach on anti paxos for a lunch spot (2 and half hours). We went to the taverna on the beach which was good food and great service. In total there were 3 swim spots on top of this (for about 20 mins each). We were also provided snacks which included greek yoghurt, bread & feta, fruit, and a shot of ouzo. The staff were polite and informative about the various stops. All in all, great value for money and a lovely day.

Bella Vraka Beach

Mentioned on

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Bella Vraka Beach is a small, unique beach located on the islet of Mourtemeno, accessible from Syvota via a short walk through shallow waters. The beach is known for its clear waters and connection to the small island of Mourtemeno, allowing visitors to literally walk over the shallows to reach the other side.
A unique and beautiful beach — a must-visit if you’re in Syvota! 🌊 To get there, you have to walk through a shallow strip of water, which adds a fun little adventure, especially for kids. The water is crystal clear, and the surroundings are wild and unspoiled. Bring water shoes for the rocks and anything you might need, as there aren’t many facilities. A hidden gem, perfect for a peaceful getaway.
Jean-Michel B — Google review
Very nice beach with amazing scenery and turquoise water. There’s a little cocktail boat bar and paddle boards for rent. The walk through the water is absolutely worth it. I have to warn you however there are no sunbeds or restaurants. Also you have to be careful to not leave your food, because the local goats will eat it. Worth it for a family
Stiliyan Y — Google review
It's a very interesting beach because it's on an island, so you have to go through the water to get there. The beach is pebbly and the water is shallow. It's very good for swimming and snorkelling. There is another small beach close by, which is accessible via a trail through the woods. It is also very beautiful. The main attraction is the goats that live there and are very friendly with tourists.
Tzvetan G — Google review
Perfect for kids. The middle beach area is the best with sand on the bottom. The right one is less crowded, excellent for padl boarding. You have to walk through the water to get to the beach area. It is reachable by boat.
Reneta B — Google review
Nice beach, nothing special. Nice walkable pass between the land and an island. Be careful of the goats! They come from the ambush and eat everything eatable you have taken with you on the beach. When they are in a feeding frenzy they don't give a damn about anything around them. Really anoying moment on the island. They show up from nothing.
Siha M — Google review
interesting experience, until wild goats started coming :), worth visiting we explored the area with snorkles, some cove areas deeper have few garbage left and not a pretty site. There is a boat for drinks and food water is great and open beach with fantastic views and natural shade if wisited from afternoon.
Gëzim R — Google review
A beautiful spot below Movenpick, with crystal-clear waters and soft sand. The highlight is the shallow stretch where you can wade across to a small island on foot—an experience that feels unique.
Loren R — Google review
The two stars are for the natural environment and the experience of going to an island on foot...Other than that, you are in for an unpleasant surprise...the beach is dirty, the path to the second beach is filthy and filled with used paper towels after people wiped you know what...This alone makes you feel that sand and sea are also dirty...It's a shame...Avoid at all costs it really isn't worth it as there are so many (much better) options...

What a great place to spend the day - the clearest of waters and a fabulous and friendly beach bar / taverna . We returned early day after day . Basically once discovered we felt little need to go elsewhere . A pebbly beach so surfing shoes for swimming make things far more comfortable underfoot. So love this place .
DUNCAN L — Google review
You cannot stay at this beach without paying sun beds. The owner of Ben's House is very rude, not leaving you to use your own towel. He is forcing you to pay for sun beds, if not, he is treating you that he will call the police. According to the law they should leave at least 25% of the beach empty, for the people that want to use their own towel... unpleasant experience...
Andreea D — Google review
Nice beach, 5eur per sunbed, 5eur for pool entry, but all is free if lunch is reserved in taverna for that day. There is parts of the beach with natural share from olive trees where you can place personal sunbed. Not good for small kids, rocky pebbles beach with deep entryway. Would recommend
Uros D — Google review
Great beach! Pictures are from September, we were lucky it wasn’t overcrowded like in full season.. . It’s not a sandy beach but the restaurants have some sort of carpets to make it easier to get in the water. Sun-beds are available at 5 euro/ person or you can get it for free with a minimum of 20 euro spent if you eat there. There are 3 places/restaurants on this beach. The bar at the end of the beach has some of the best cocktails on the island!
Andreea B — Google review
Perfect waters, organised beach with sunbeds, restaurant/bar. Has a private parking, ideal for kids. Also has a small pool for children.
Zissis R — Google review
Nice but rocky beach. Nice waters. There are sunbeds if you want which are free is you eat in the taverna above. Friendly stuff.
Panayotis I — Google review
The owner Nikos is such a great guy, he gave us the best table with the best spot. , and he recommended us one of the most tastefull fish I've ever had, the octopus bourde was also great. All of the salads are good choice I highly recommend this place.
Mitko P — Google review
Wonderful organised beach with a nice bar and lots of facilities. Waters are crystal clear and the beach has big white pebbles. The bar - restaurant is of course a bit overpriced. You can park in the restaurant's parking. There is plenty of space. Try to get there early as it can get crowded. Safe for kids

Issos Beach, also known as the "Sahara of Corfu," is a popular destination on the southwest coast of Corfu. It offers a long stretch of golden sand and crystal clear waters that attract visitors from all over. The beach is famous for its impressive sand dunes and calm sea, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Additionally, there are lounge chair rentals available along with restaurants and tavernas within a short drive.
Beautiful sandy beaches. Away from crowds. Easy access from the parking lot and endless areas to sunbathe. I believe during main season there are some facilities there like deck chairs or umbrellas. Waters are crystal clear shallow so perfect for not great swimmers and children . Lovely dunes in the back. Really enjoyed the swim and the stay there.
Tomasz D — Google review
Huge quiet beach, plenty of 15 euro sunbeds, nice beach bar with large variety of drinks and some snacks, water is quite cold, not the best way for snorkeling, about 10 minutes of rocky road to access this gorgeous beach
Boudewijn W — Google review
The beach is long, sandy, and wild, with an extended shallow area and warm, calm waters. The surroundings are sandy dunes, making it feel as if you are swimming in the middle of the Sahara Desert. Complete tranquility, few people, and completely undeveloped – the area is spacious and open.
Jelena S — Google review
Found this gem with my wife, and boy are we glad. Probably the best sandy beach yet, the beach has to be about 2.5 miles long. Wide beaches , plenty of chairs and nice little waves. Horses too, if you like riding , views are spectacular
Ari K — Google review
I really liked this beach. It’s sandy, a lot of space. Great if you are tired from big crowds. The water is clean and calm. Highly recommend coming here. 🌊🐠 also you can see beautiful fishes in the water!
Emilija N — Google review
Beautiful, long sandy beach. If you prefer, there are sunbeds available, but if you’d rather have more privacy, just walk a little further and you’ll easily find the perfect spot. It’s easily accessible by car, with plenty of parking and no issues at all. The water is clear and calm, and there’s so much space - it never feels crowded. I came here twice during my stay in Corfu and absolutely loved it.
Rita P — Google review
Great large beach with normal sand, no rocks. Ideal for kids, first 50mtr only 1 mtr deep. Good (free) parking facilities and only few minutes (flat)walk to the beach. The entire east coast has poor swimming facilities with dirty water. Best places are found here at the west coast and Issos Beach is one of the best. You can rent 2 sunbeds and a parasol for 15 euro a day.

Paxos and Antipaxos boat cruise - very good experience beyond expectations! The boat was big and full but we could see other tour operators who were really crowded so we felt lucky enough. The experience is made by the people you are on the boat with, so hopefully you can chat and make friends too. By the end of the day we were all up dancing! (Though downstairs was quieter for people who wanted to rest, the boat is big enough for everything.) The boat has a bar which sells refreshments at a great price! The trip itself was great, visited stunning locations and had enough time in all. Be aware that you need to be a strong swimmer to jump off the boat, the waves are very big and children should be accompanied, it's very busy in peak season in that area and other boats are moving around. Finally, the staff were fantastic, at the travel centre they are friendly, and on the boat they are so fun! Thank you so much for making our last day in Corfu one to remember!
Mikey J — Google review
If you are at Messonghi beach, book your travels directly with the Messonghi Travel Center and not through your hotel or other international travel agencies. Support local! They are super kind, gave us a much cheaper price than the hotel and the experience was really great! Booked our boat trip to Paxos and Antipaxos through them and it was a great experience. Thank you!
Bettina W — Google review
I truly can't recommend this place enough! From the moment we walked in they where friendly, professional and welcoming. I wanted to book a large group for my dads 70th. There was 20 of us. They gave us a great little discount and even offered my Father for free as a birthday gift. Once we explained it was my father's birthday, they went above and beyond!! We arrived to decorations, balloons banners and a wonderful welcome for my dad. We was given the full front of the boat. After the first stop when we arrived at the blue lagoon, they gave us all party hats, blowers and we sang happy birthday as the captain popped champagne. My dad had the most amazing day. He was even allowed to drive the boat 🥰 The whole crew we amazing and the captain was a wonderful man!!! Thank you so much for all the memories ❤️
Lorraine D — Google review
Not recommended. The trip to Paxos and Antipaxos turned out to be a complete disappointment. The positives? The transfer from a convenient location was a big plus. Also, if you don’t have cash, you can pay by card at the office – another small advantage. But the trip itself was chaotic. The crew smoked cigarettes inside the cabins, where people were already seasick – there were even children inside, and passengers were vomiting from the smoke. We stopped at the Blue Cave for literally three minutes just to take a quick look. Swimming in Antipaxos lasted less than 40 minutes, and the crew behaved as if everything was allowed. On top of that, according to the website and the lady who sold us the trip, the itinerary was supposed to include visiting the town of Lakka, passing through the caves, one hour of swimming at the Antipaxos beach, and three hours in the town of Gaios. In reality, we only had a short swim in Antipaxos and two hours in Gaios. Nobody informed us in advance that the rest of the (in my opinion, more charming) places would be skipped. We were just moved from one place to another without a single explanation. It’s also worth mentioning that two-thirds of this “trip” was pure travel – a bus ride plus a boat that was absolutely not suitable for such a long cruise (the whole excursion lasted from 8 AM to 6 PM, including at least 1.5 hours on the bus and 4.5 hours on the boat). If we had known it would be like this, we would definitely not have gone.
Liza N — Google review
A pleasant experience, from the moment I entered the agency to choose a trip until its completion. Friendly, polyglot, professional staff. We chose the Grand Tour, we saw amazing places of beauty and were driven on this road by a professional driver in the true sense of the word, on those narrow roads, on the ramp. It would be very good to prepare a tour to visit the palaces and fortresses. History only. Thank you indeed!
Ram P — Google review
I would like to thank everyone that made my trip possible. Starting with the hotel I work at and especially the travel agency as well as everyone that was on the boat with me. It was a lovely experience and a complimentary one! Christos the mechanics, very nice and courteous guy!
Julia P — Google review
Absolutely the best experience. We booked a trip to Blue Lagoon, the lady in the office in Boukari was very nice, patiently explained everything to us, showed us, answered all our questions. Unfortunately, we couldn't go on the day of the trip because of illness, so we went back to the office later and asked if we could go another day. Everything was possible, except they didn't have this particular trip on a day that suited us, so we could have gone on a bigger trip to Paxos without them charging us the difference in price. The trip itself was very well organized, they came for us on the minute exactly to the hotel, took us to the port. The whole trip was great! Everyone was nice, smiling. Amazing experience!
N. K — Google review
We went to Paxos-Antipaxos + Blue Caves cruise. Very picturesque and beautiful to look at, but I didn't like the organization of the cruise. The number of seats on the cruise is not limited, but there are very few on the ship, 20 - 30. There are seats inside the ship, but it is impossible to be there in heat, and the voyage is in hottest hours. The sailing time takes about 5 hours + 2 hours by bus. Half an hour is the arrival to the cave, 45 minutes of swimming in Antipaxos and 2 hours in the Gayous village. Useful time was very little.

Butrint National Archaeological Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Butrint National Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Albania, is a remarkable olive-shaded site that houses Greek, Roman, and medieval remnants. The park's archaeological significance dates back to the Iron Age and offers an authentic experience with unrestricted access to the ruins. It features diverse points of interest from various historical periods including Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian eras.
I found this to be a particularly beautiful archaeological site. It's beautifully situated in the greenery. Everything is very well preserved. Everything is well-described. Several civilizations have ruled here, a very interesting history lesson. Even though it was 40 degrees Celsius, it was still manageable, as there's plenty of shade. The entree ticket was not expensive. There was no shop with drinks on the site in our case, so maybe you should carry enough water.

The place is amazing, full of history, and it has a very unique charm. The only thing I missed was a little shop or a refreshment stand… The area is quite large, so I would have appreciated some place to buy water or a small snack😊

We visited Butrint National Park and were truly impressed – it’s a beautiful and enchanting place full of history. However, I left with the feeling that more investment is needed in the park. There’s still so much to be discovered, with some monuments partially buried or even underwater. It’s a site with huge potential that deserves more preservation and attention. I also think guided tours inside the park would be a great addition – I would happily pay to learn more about its rich and fascinating history!

I was hesitant to visit because of the summer heat, but the park is surprisingly shaded, and there's a lovely breeze from the water that keeps things comfortable. The archaeological site is fascinating, with explanations at each part of the monument to guide you through. It takes about an hour to walk around, and while some paths are a bit steep, it’s manageable, just be sure to wear good shoes. The views are stunning, especially from the acropolis. Don’t miss the walk up, it gives you a breathtaking view of the entire site.

Well worth the visit. The ancient city has a ton of history from greek, roman, ottoman and venetian times. Mix of ancient ruins and more recent castles. Unfortunately no turtles there in early October

Very interesting peninsula with many ruins of Ancient Greek, Roman and Medieval structures, highlighting the historic meaning of Butrint. The visit takes about 2-3 hours and despite the heat, it was still manageable thanks to the abundance of shade. Highly recommended to visit when you are in the south of Albania

Lovely place to walk and visit with a lot of history! As you spend some time here, would have been nice to be able to get a drink or a snack but there was no place to get at least a bottle of water. Make sure you bring something to drink or snack with you.

Fascinating place if you like history. I walked here one morning (slightly accidental as I was only supposed to stroll to the bay near my hotel but missed my turn). Spent a couple of hours wandering around the old ruins. It’s lot bigger than I expected and well worth the 1000 lek/10€. Traffic was gridlocked at the entrance / little ferry when I left though. Pleased I walked it despite the heat. It’s worth parking at the top in car park over looking the bay and walking the last bit

The Achilleion Palace is a 19th-century neoclassical mansion with stunning Achilles-themed interiors and beautiful gardens overlooking the sea. It was originally built for Empress Elisabeth of Austria and later purchased by Kaiser Wilhelm II as a place of relaxation. The palace has a rich history, having been pillaged during World War I but now restored to its former glory.
What a wonderful place. If you are a fan of history and architecture you will love this place ! As for today you can't enter the palace due to restoration. Its still worth it though 😌 ✨️ Magestic you can see Corfu, Greece and Albania from up there

I recommend having a tour guide give you the history of this place. The statues around the villa are awesome. Give yourself an hour maybe a little more to go through this site.
Lanster — Google review
Unfortunately the Palace itself was closed for renovations during our visit. However, we were able to explore the grounds which are beautiful and have amazing views. Disappointing we had to pay full entry fee for half of the experience.

Nice gardens, spectacular views and the gardens refurbishment is looking good. The building is not much more than 100 years old and is currently closed. The building must have looked impressive in it's heyday but has been neglected for a long time so is in a really poor state of repair. I felt quite sad to see it like this and expect a lot of time, money and skill will be needed to bring it back to it's former glory. Worth a visit but manage your expectations accordingly.
Robert L — Google review
Beautiful place to visit and visit the Muses, as well as Achilles. ❤️ The building itself is currently being updated though, so you can't go in. The Gardens and statues are absolutely gorgeous though and it overlooks the city in the distance.
Drita D — Google review
The garden was beautiful. Unfortunately the place is closed due to refurbishment. But there are couple of screens set up around the gardens where you can watch history of Sissi. You have to go and see massive statue of Achilles with a stunning view that will leave you speechless. Tickets for adult was €7 (only garden)

The Achilleion Palace on Corfu looks serene under a cloudy sky. Its neoclassical walls and statues blend with the soft gray light, giving the place a quiet, timeless charm.

Beautiful location with imposing statues. The interior was closed at the time of our visit but I enjoyed seeing just the gardens for a slightly reduced fee.

The Old Fortress of Corfu is a must-see historic site located near the island's capital. It consists of scenic ruins, artifacts on display, a seating area, and a beautiful church. Easter is an especially festive time to visit, with unique church services and processions. The dropping of colorful clay pots from balconies in the Old Town on Saturday morning is a tradition not to be missed.
Amazing bit of history. Went today to have a look around, €10 per person entry, has a cafe on site but quite expensive, so recommend bringing water / snacks in, as water in the shop is €5 for 1 litre (can be found in the supermarket for €0.80, 5 mins walk). Took us around an hour to have a proper look up at the lighthouse and church. Very interesting and amazing views. If you're in the area, and haven't done it before, highly recommend as it's rich in history with spectacular views of Corfu around.
Kai S — Google review
Went early and virtually had the place to myself. Saw the attractions and climbed to the lighthouse. The information points are very good and gave a good historical portrait of the fort and it's changes throughout history. I had no idea how important Corfu is and has been throughout history in this area for it's strategic significance or that the British had a protectorate here. A must do for sure.

good place to visit for €10. bit of a hike to the top and lots of uneven floors and walkways so wear proper walking shoes or trainers. the usual tourists and cruise ship customers. good views from the top and a quirky hidden ground level tunnel to the yacht club takes you to the sea if you want a dip in the waters.

For 10 EUR and some waiting in line (10 min) i have got the most smazing Fortress I have ever seen in my life. The complex is huge, it is like a city in the city. Breathtaking view, history by every step. I can recommend only! A women in front of me could get get in with a mini yorkie, dogs are not allowed.

The entry is 10 euro per person. You can see the Charles church up close then climb to the light house and enjoy beautiful views of old town and the port. Go in the morning because it gets super hot quickly.

The Old Fortress of Corfu Town is one of those places that captures everything special about the island — history, beauty, and atmosphere all in one. Standing proudly at the eastern edge of Corfu Town, it’s impossible to miss the sight of this massive Venetian stronghold rising above the harbor. I visited on a warm afternoon, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable experiences of my trip. The entrance fee is €10, and it’s worth every cent. Once you step through the gates and cross the bridge over the old moat, it feels like you’ve entered another world. The combination of sea breeze, ancient stone walls, and the faint echo of history creates an incredible sense of place. The fortress was originally built by the Byzantines and later expanded by the Venetians, and you can see traces of both influences in the architecture — arched gateways, tunnels, old bastions, and lookout points that have stood for centuries. Exploring the site is both relaxing and fascinating. You can take your time wandering up and around the walls, through narrow paths and open courtyards, each turn offering a new angle or hidden detail. The climb to the top of the fortress is gentle but steady, and when you reach the summit, the reward is breathtaking: a 360-degree panoramic view of Corfu Town, the blue Ionian Sea, and even the Albanian coastline in the distance. It’s one of the best viewpoints on the island — perfect for photos or simply standing still and soaking it all in. Inside the complex, you’ll also find a few restored buildings and exhibitions that give insight into Corfu’s past, including its military history and Venetian heritage. There’s a small café near the top, where you can sit down with a cold drink and enjoy the view in peace. The atmosphere up there is wonderfully calm — despite being in the heart of the capital, it feels like a step back in time. If you visit in the morning, it’s quieter and less hot, but sunset is magical too, with the warm light hitting the stone walls and the town below glowing in golden tones. Overall, the Old Fortress is a must-see for anyone visiting Corfu. Whether you love history, architecture, photography, or just a good view, it delivers on all fronts. Ten euros for a walk through centuries of history and some of the best vistas in Greece is a bargain — and an experience you’ll remember long after you leave.

Tickets cost €10. Admission is free for those under 25 :) I would definitely recommend. In early September there were no queues there. The fortress is very large. But with a quick walk you can get around it in 45 minutes including climbing the hill. Nice view of the harbor and Corfu Town.

This is oldest out of two fortresses that Corfu has. It will give you a nice bird eye view on old city and harbor. The hike up is relatively easy, but be careful the stones that make a trail up is quite slippery and I assume could be quite challenging if wet. So make sure that you have a comfortable footwear that are nonslippery. The fortres has a Cafe and restrooms where you can take a rest. The cost is €10

Castle of Gjirokastra

Castle
Fortress
The Castle of Gjirokastra is a historic 12th-century landmark that overlooks the city and offers a glimpse into centuries of turmoil and conquest. Legend has it that the name 'Gjirokastra' comes from Princess Argjiro, who refused to surrender to the Ottomans and jumped from the highest point with her son, miraculously surviving. The castle served as a prison under communist rule and now houses military exhibits, museums, and crumbling ruins for visitors to explore.
Stepping into the Castle of Gjirokastër felt like entering a world of history and grandeur. The fortress, towering above the city, immediately impressed me with its scale and strategic position, offering breathtaking views of the town and the surrounding valleys. As I explored the walls, towers, and courtyards, I was fascinated by the rich stories of battles, rulers, and centuries of heritage. The museum inside added even more depth, displaying weapons, artifacts, and historical exhibits. The Castle of Gjirokastër was a remarkable blend of history and scenery, making it an unforgettable highlight of my trip.
Mohsin R — Google review
Gjirokastër Castle is definitely a must-visit if you're in southern Albania. It’s a place filled with history, with a dark and somber atmosphere — especially with so many old prison cells spread throughout. The entrance is paid, but unfortunately, the site could use better maintenance and preservation efforts. There's a lot of dust and loose soil around, and since the castle is exposed to the wind, it can get quite dusty and uncomfortable for visitors. Still, it's a powerful and historical site that’s worth seeing, just be prepared for the conditions.
Catarina S — Google review
Incredible experience! You get free range to wander through the entire castle. We spend well over two hours walking around and exploring the castle. There is a second museum within the castle that cost extra to go into. I would recommend paying to go in, it was very informative.
Kohler S — Google review
We bought the tickets online, so we skipped the huge line at the entrance. The castle is incredible, make sure to go with enough time to explore everything calmly. It has a beautiful view and a fascinating history. Definitely worth a visit!
Gabriel L — Google review
The view is stunning, you can see the whole city from above. There are some interesting areas and hidden paths to discover. Even on a busy day, there is plenty of space to move around, they also have toilets inside.

Personally loved this place, amazing views and quite striking thinking about all the 1500+ history and the effort that was put into building it over the time. Went through so many changes and has some haunting stories of the past both recent and historic. Recommended if you’re in the city and looking for something to see and absorb
David B — Google review
This is a well-preserved historic site that tells the story of its past. The fortress has a long and eventful history, with many key moments mentioned right at the entrance. It's a great stop to make on your way to the seaside.
Neagu M — Google review
Impressive and well-preserved castle with stunning views over Gjirokastër and the surrounding valley. Entry is 400 lek, with an extra fee if you want to visit the museum inside. You can explore the old prison, see a U.S. military plane, and walk along the massive stone walls. Some signs could offer more context, but overall it’s a must-see when in town!

Tee ( — Google review
We went in May and there was a lot of rubbish all over the beach, big piles of broken seats and umbrella. Would recommend going to the next beach over, the water is just as nice but less rubbish
Sophie C — Google review
It was dirty and you pay 5€ for "private" parking and 10€ for and umbrella and 2 sits which are not even comfortable in ksamil you have with 10€ sits that feel like bed and free parking spots which are much better. Only nice for a picture in the corner of the sea but not worth so much money for it.
Ιωάννα Τ — Google review
The sea is blueish but not the clearest or cleanest if we are being honest due to large waves caused partially by the wind and the passing-by boats. 20 euros for two sunbeds and an umbrella is an absolute rip off.
Aldo C — Google review
+: ok beach –: The main beach area was overcrowded — we were packed like sardines on a rocky shoreline. 🌟 But! If you’re up for an adventure: cross through the water on the left side of the beach, around the cliff, and you’ll reach Shpella e Pëllumbave — a much quieter spot with white sand and calm, clear water. Great for families with little kids.
Tahira A — Google review
The water is very clear but I couldn’t see any fish or interesting finds when snorkelling. It was very peaceful here and I easily spent s few hours here - safely leaving my belongings on the shore. The beach is pebbly so bring sea shoes if you have them. There are no desk chairs or umbrellas unless you bring your own, nor any refreshments. To get there my public transport you do need to time it right, otherwise get a taxi. The buses leave Butrint every hour at half past so they tend to reach Ksamil at 38-40 past. The bus takes about 7 mins and is 50 LEK, you can tell the conductor where you are going and they’ll tell you where to get off. On the way back buses leave Saranda at half past and tend to reach Pasqyra 20-25 minutes later. From the bus stop to the beach you will need to walk up and over a hill which is fairly loose so do bring decent shoes.
Erald H — Google review
The road to the beach is very tricky. We paid 20 euros (2000 leke) for two sunbeds and one umbrella. There is beach bar you can use. For me, the beaches and the sea are better in Ksamil compared to mirror beach. The toilets of the facility are not clean. There is no lock on the doors of the changing cabins, and no hangers for towels. So, if you’re looking for comfort, this beach is not for you.
Pelin Y — Google review
This beach was a big disappointment. They charge 20€ for an umbrella and two chairs – and that doesn’t even include mattresses. On top of that, they ask for 5€ for “private” parking, even though in reality you’re just leaving your car on the side of the road between bushes. The shower wasn’t working, and the whole place looks old, neglected, and in need of renovation. The only reason I’m giving 1 star is because the water was clean and the view was beautiful. Otherwise, definitely not worth the price.

Skënduli House, located in Gjirokaster, Albania, is a historic museum that offers visitors a glimpse into the life of the wealthy during the Ottoman era. The original house was destroyed in a fire, but the Ethnographic Museum now stands on its former site. Built in the 18th century, Skënduli House showcases stunning Ottoman architecture with intricate woodwork and traditional Turkish bath features.
What an excellent hour I spent in this fascinating house with an amazing history of family life of this area. My guide was a woman with excellent English who clearly showed passion for the history of the house and was able to answer all my many questions in detail. Totally absorbing and great value.
Alan N — Google review
Disappointing 😞 Not really worth 300 lek when you can have a much richer experience at the nearby Ethnographic museum for 500 lek. There was nobody available there to tell me anything about the house and only basic information on a board at the entrance. I would like to see information boards in each room.
Miles M — Google review
I am glad that I went to Skenduli House with my friend. We were lucky enough to tag along with a German travel group. The guide of that group was very gracious to let us join and explained everything in English. It's clear from the generous proportion of the rooms, that this was a wealthy family. The architecture of this and similar houses consists on the ground floor of areas for storing provisions and cooling larders. Middle floor: various communal rooms and bedrooms used by different generations, a wedding room. Upstairs are open areas to be used in the summer, commanding a phantastic view!
Maja T — Google review
This tower house is very interesting to visit. You can see the life of a wealthy family during 17th century. There are many rooms to visit and there is also a beautiful view of the valley. We take the guided tour. Our guide was a little too fast in explaining, however she explained many interesting things to us.

My woman of 12 years wanted to go visit this place because this is her homeland and we live in the United States. While visiting this place, we went to the most special room called the wedding room, and the tour guide explained to us that this is the room man and a woman were married. So I decided to get on my knee right then I’m there and ask her to marry me (she said yes 🥰). Photos are not allowed in this room, but he was kind enough to film it and let us take photos which we will keep private out of respect for him and the facility, but that was the most thoughtful thing. So kudos to him and thank you for making this a wonderful experience.

Kalaja e Lëkurësit, also known as the Castle of Lekuresi, is a hilltop castle ruin in Vlore with imposing round towers and breathtaking panoramic views. The site includes a spacious eatery where visitors can enjoy drinks and watch the sunset. It is situated near natural attractions like the Lagoon of Narta, just a short drive away. The modern building constructed on top of ancient Ottoman castle ruins from the 1500s offers free entry and ample parking options.
An outstanding place with breathtaking views on both the mountains and the sea. No wonder at sunset it’s very crowded - it’s the most beautiful spot for awesome pictures and romantic moments. It’s not easy to climb up in a car due to a lot of cars and traffic but still the visit is worth the trouble.

Visited this beautiful castle with my fiance, to watch the sun set over Saranda, it didn't disappoint absolutely stunning, enjoyed a glass of wine which I topped up with lemon soda. Perfect end to our holiday to Albania. We didn't eat here this time as we had already eaten but the pizzas looked lovely so we will be sure to try them on our next visit.

Perched atop the hills overlooking Saranda, Lekursi Castle offered one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever experienced. From up there, I could see the sparkling Ionian Sea, the city below, and the surrounding islands, all creating a breathtaking panorama that felt almost magical. Exploring the castle ruins, I was fascinated by the history and the stories these walls must hold. The on-site café made it easy to relax while taking in the scenery, adding to the charm of the visit. Lekursi Castle wasn’t just a historic site—it was a stunning viewpoint and a truly unforgettable highlight of my trip.

Beautiful venue at the top of a mountain with the most fantastic view of the sunset. Generally everything was lovely, we all had good food, if slightly expensive compared to everywhere else …except I became unwell overnight from what I suspect was bad seafood pasta. It was probably only one seafood bit, as my reaction wasn’t too violent nor immediate, but it got me overnight and I was down for the next 2 days.
Alexandra C — Google review
Beautiful views from the lower balconies – definitely the highlight of this place. The restaurant itself is not halal and the food is overpriced, but you’re really paying for the location and scenery. I’d recommend arriving at least 1 hour before sunset (2 hours if you want the best seats) to secure a good spot. Drinks are also on the expensive side. We had a margarita pizza and a few drinks before heading elsewhere for dinner. Overall, the views are absolutely amazing and worth experiencing at least once- but save yourself for dinner elsewhere.
Z R — Google review
I ate dinner at a castle with a pink sunset! This castle wasn’t what you would expect to be as a castle. It’s more of an outdoor venue for dining, concerts and performances. You can’t vest the view! The service here was impeccable. The food delicious, the wine even better. Parking is hard to find. We took a taxi up there. If you plan to take the bus, that looked a little shady.
Crystal S — Google review
We went there for the view, it was amazing, worth visiting. We could admire the walls of the castle, but there is a restaurant inside and it affects the original look. The restaurant itself looked nice, but we haven't eaten anything there. The castle is accessible by car until the gates

A place to meet the sunset in romantic atmosphere! Food for all tastes. If you one a bit luxury dinner its there and a bit further there is also a pizza place, but still with the same beautiful view. As also you can get only drinks, and still enjoy the sunset!

Amazing atmosphere, staff and location. The beach is a gem surprisingly considering how central it is. The beach bar is perfect to hang out all day with a lot of space to chill. Restaurant in the hotel had a great menu particularly the steak, which was perfectly cooked and presented so well. There was live music on the night as well which was perfect. The staff and service really stood out. Even reception were so helpful and inviting.

Had a great 6 nights here. Got a west-facing room and just about managed to see some sunsets (due to time of the year!). Breakfast had nearly everything you could want. Staff were excellent. Pool was nice. Location of hotel was perfect. Watch out for mosquitos at night and have breakfast inside if you can to avoid the wasps! Didn't have dinner here but the pool menu was more expensive than I expected - although similar to bars/restaurants nearby. Would return
Glyn T — Google review
A really good hotel with beach access, nice swimming pools and great views on both sides. I would say it is good value for money for what you get. The breakfast buffet is endless with a huge variety of good quality options (one small thing - it would have been nice to have fresh fruit juice, not concentrate). We had a superior bay view room, we were a little disappointed with the view as it was restricted so I would recommend a sea view room instead. Overall though a great place and we’d stay again

Beautiful! Love the calm vibe. The hotel has two sides with equally gorgeous views. Access to the beach is down many steps so may not suit some. The Rocky beach was more secluded and great for snorkelling, access to water from a ladder! Main beach is beautiful and accessible from hotel terraces that are never too busy. Rooms are clean and love the Olivia Thinks shampoos and body lotions. Breakfast included and something for everyone’s tastes.

Excellent experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff extremely polite, and the stay comfortable and relaxing. We will definitely visit again. We were absolutely satisfied. The cleanliness, tranquility, and service exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend it. A wonderful place to relax and unwind. The attention to detail and the kindness of the staff make all the difference. We can’t wait to return.

Totally worth it! Rooms are lovely and the staff is so incredibly helpful and wonderful. And of course, the cliffside sunbathing area is just to die for. Totally lived up to the photos and hype. I was out there everyday having the time of my life. Reading and swiming in the water all day long. Playing in the near by sea caves, and snorkeling and enjoying the sea life. The food here is wonderful! Make sure to get the half board, it's totally worth it. Also, make sure to make an appt to eat at their bar, food was phenomenal! My husband and I rented a car while here, but there is a bus that run from the Hotel to Corfu all day long. And it hardly costs anything. We actually used it to go into Old Town so we wouldn't have to worry about parking. The only complaint is that people will go put their towels down by the rocks, and leave them there for hours. Taking up the few sun bathing beds there are in the cliffside. I wish the staff would oversee that area. The rest of the resort has signs that say if you leave your things in attended for 30 min, they will be removed. People would put their towels out and disappear for 2 hours for breakfast, then for a couple hours again for lunch. I thought it was rude! I always would take my towel with me when I left and offer my seat to someone else. Trying to hog a spot seemed so awful and just plain selfish. Especially as there were times I would come and go and the entire time the person who's spot was saved, was never there! Literally, once I noticed for 3 hours a couple didn't show up. Even though other couples came and went hoping for a spot.

Perfect location, however poop marks in toilet (barf!!!!) Resort: The resort itself seems dated. The entry and main floor are beautiful however we were on the fourth floor and the hallway was dark and it looked like it needed a refresh. View: Our view was spectacular, we faced the bay, where you can see the monastery in the distance. Be prepared for a lot of stairs to get to the beach. Food: The breakfast was sufficient, we did go to the restaurant for dinner and that was a huge disappointment. The buffet dinner was €40 each and I felt the breakfast was better. Nothing at the breakfast nor the dinner stood out. For the price of this resort, they are way overcharging for what they are delivering. I had to give the room 1 star, it was for the view only. Pool: is freezing cold. We were there at the end of May so if the pool is not heated, I guess you can expect it to be cold. Room: When we entered our room and used the restroom, unfortunately, there was a massive poop stain under the toilet lid. I don’t think I have to explain how disgusting that is. The toilet lid was wrapped with a sash, symbolizing their seal of approval for cleanliness. I reported this to the front desk and someone cleaned the toilet, however, I lost my faith in the cleanliness of the hotel overall. The hotel did not apologize either. He simply told someone to find someone to clean it. (I have a picture that I showed the concierge, but I will not post it here.) Overall I cannot recommend this hotel. Old town is a must see and do, streets are beautiful. Loads of shopping and restaurants.
Madelaine J — Google review
The views are amazing, from either side of the hotel. I had a room facing the bay, so it was a little more "interesting", even though sadly there is an abandoned hotel building in the middle of the view. You can go for a swim on either side, either from the charming "rocky beach" or from the real beach in the bay. I ended up preferring going on rocky beach, jumping in the sea directly from the steps, much less people there. What sets the hotel apart is the staff, they are all beyond nice and all give 120% - which is very rare - and I finally got an explanation on my last day as I took a transfer and my driver had worked at the hotel for 20 years, apparently they just all respect the owners so much that it creates a great work atmosphere and people naturally go the extra mile. The rooms lacked a bit of soundproofing, you could hear the music from the beach bars until quite late at night, guests in other rooms if they were a bit loud, and the mechanism of the doors closing was quite loud, slamming the doors. For the price and the 5 star rating, the rooms were small and not particularly luxurious. The food at the pool was not particularly great either. As popular as the bay is, it lacks options when it comes to restaurants, and one quickly goes around the best ones accessible on foot.

Agios Georgios beach in Corfu is a family-friendly destination with over 5km of golden sands, offering a safe and spacious environment. Nestled under an hour's drive from Paleokastritsa, the beach boasts emerald waters overlooked by pine-clad hillsides. The area offers various accommodation options, including peaceful studios and resorts with traditional charm and modern amenities.
Beautiful water, easy to park free in front and full of restaurants. The view is stunning. There might be a lot of traffic thought. It was very empty in august! We put our towel and relaxed a lot. Super clean sand and comfortable. Recommend for a relaxing day with a beautiful view and for family’s. There is sometimes a lot of wind so prepare to be under the sun without umbrella!
Rajae X — Google review
Beautiful beach with the view of one of the corfu’s postal cards, it might be stunning the sunset over there. 2 beds + umbrella in front of a restaurant in which they come to the beach to bring food and drinks only 15€ (in June). The only problem for me was to get into the water. It is a sandy beach, not so thin sand but inside the water there were big rounded and veeery slippery rocks, that even with no waves was difficult to enjoy… But I saw fishes around, it seems like you are entering in an aquarium as so crystal clear is the water!
Ludmilla K — Google review
The water is nice but if you come with a dog be careful. Gave 1 stare because there are some stray dogs walking around and they are big. The waitress said that some are also dangerous and bite. The sun-beds are free if you eat for dinner or lunch at the the restaurant.
Karina C — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It’s not crowded and not touristic compared to other beaches. The restaurants on the shoreline are also quite good. You can rent boats to go to Porto Timoni. The sunsets were always beautiful!

Very nice beach, great for paddle boards since the waves are calm. Many restaurant options and supermarkets. Free pools, and many sunbeds and areas to bring your own towels and umbrellas. One of the best beaches in all of Corfu. Top 5 beaches in Corfu
Kork S — Google review
One of our favorite beaches in Corfu, it is wide and spread out, there are plenty of shops and tavernas without being overly crowded or congested (though finding parking is sometimes a bit difficult) Tip: we always sit at the Katoi trattoria, it’s our favorite place on the beach for sun lounges, snacks, coffees, etc. We love the water here too though, crystal clear and calm and it is a fairly quiet and relaxed atmosphere in general. A bit of a drive but totally worth it!
Nrith — Google review
Beautiful beach but in August it gets too crowded. Perfect for snorkeling as the water is translucid!

Lovely drive to Agios Georgios from Sidari, with spectacular views on approach. I went at the end of summer season (end sept/beginning Oct) Out of 14 days stay there was only 4 days of rain so managed to spend a lovely hot day at the beach here. There was ample parking and many food/drink places to choose from. We did end up getting a cabana on the beach which were owned by one of the restaurants (said was a charge of €30) but we’d bought drinks and snacks throughout the day so was no charge for it. Managed to have a lovely sea soak and enjoy the environment, which water was a fair bit calmer than in the north of the island at that time probably due to it being a large secluded bay. There was ample service offered where you could purchase drinks/food from the cabana which were bought to you, it’s only polite to offer the waiting service a tip (not obligated to) but when the service is so friendly and polite, it’s the right thing to do. Certainly would return to this pretty beach area with luscious greenery in the hills on either side.

Paralia Sidari is a bustling and picturesque beach with free and rental sunbeds, waterfront restaurants, and various recreational activities. It's an ideal destination for families with kids due to its beautiful sandy shore and shallow, clear waters perfect for swimming. The area offers plenty of beachside amenities including restaurants, bars, hotels, and water sports activities such as banana boat rides and jet skiing.
Very good place, beach also..wide beach, lot of sun beds, very familiar, with children's.

The views by the canal are breathtaking, however this beach is not it. Water is way too shallow, dirty and muddy. Its like a lagoon. The prices are the cheapest we have seen on the whole island, but the prices are sadly the only positive.
Rita S — Google review
Nice looking beach with great views to Albany but absolutely rubbish if you like to swim. Seabed is totally uneven, you can be far away and suddenly have water up to your knees only. It's only getting deep next to the delimiting floaters but it's not safe at all there with idiots and their speed boats cutting through all the time. Loads of seaweed, which really isn't pleasant when accidently swimming through it because of the uneven seabed. Finally, beware of urchins!

Kanali tou Erota, also known as Canal d'Amour, is a small and romantic beach cove located near the village of Sidari on the north coast of the island. It features sandy arcs nestled between rock formations, creating a picturesque setting. According to local legend, swimming through the canal with a loved one ensures staying together forever, while swimming alone promises meeting your true love within a year.
Definitely my favorite place in Corfu, the views are incredible, and a lot of view points before going to the Canal. The place is nice a little bit crowded but still space to swim and to do little cliff jumps, the water is warmer than in other places in Corfu.
Geovanny P — Google review
swam here in October. made it over to the rocks. 15 minute swim across choppy waters... safe as long as you are a strong and confident swimmer. also swam through the cave which is a bit rough but easier if you swim with the incoming tide and not against it. my pictures were taken from the offshore rocks so unique vantage point
DrifterNick — Google review
I LOVED this spot. I came at 5pm and it was perfect. The sun was hot, but I never needed sunscreen. The water was refreshingly cold and serene. There are many places to lay around on the rocks. I never even went down to the sandy 🏖️ beach as it was way too overcrowded. There are so many fun places to jump into the water, little caves to swim inside of or climb onto. The view is spectacular. There is free public parking right at the entrance.
Jo J — Google review
We were there at 7 in the evening. The waves were very big, and by then only a few people were swimming. The sun shines beautifully there, it’s a great spot for photos. Definitely check it out if you’re in Corfu. The water is murky for swimming, but the view from above is stunning.

The canal is really nice and worth a visit. It can get a bit crowded (as expected), but still enjoyable. I’d recommend spending a few hours here to take in the atmosphere before heading to one of the many nearby beaches.

Canal d’Amour – A Natural Masterpiece in Corfu Visiting Canal d’Amour in Corfu was like stumbling into a dream-landscape of sea, stone, and legend. From the moment I arrived, I felt its magic — the way the sunlight strikes the sandstone cliffs, the narrow channel carved by wind and waves, the promise of romance woven in every ripple. This place isn’t just a beach; it’s an immersive moment in nature’s artistry. First, the setting: Canal d’Amour is on the north-western coast of Corfu, near the village of Sidari between Sidari and Peroulades. The location is quite accessible by car or taxi, with nearby parking — though during the busy season you’ll want to arrive early to avoid the crowds. What makes Canal d’Amour truly special are the rock formations. Sheer sandstone cliffs sculpted over centuries have created a channel and several small coves and caves. Natural arches, tunnels, small lagoons, all of them bathed in crystalline, turquoise water that invites you to swim, snorkel, explore. Legend enhances the atmosphere: swim through the channel with someone you love, they say, and your bond will last forever. It’s romantic, playful, maybe a little cheesy — but I loved every bit of that folklore. The beach area itself is relatively small, which gives it charm but also poses limitations. At times the shore is crowded, towels and umbrellas packed in tightly, especially in peak summer. There’s beauty in that shared enthusiasm, but also moments when you have to compete with others for a good spot. If possible, go early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the light is softer and the crowds ease up. Amenities are pretty good. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, nearby tavernas and cafés where you can grab something to eat or drink, restrooms, places to change. It’s not ultra-luxurious, but everything you need for a comfortable visit is there. One of my favorite moments was exploring the sea caves and the small bays. Swimming under rock overhangs, peering into caverns, feeling the water shift from calm and shallow to deeper blue as you move away from the shore. The views from above are just as striking: walking along the rock edges, looking out over the sea and cliffs, and watching the sun set — that golden hour is unforgettable. If I had to sum it up: Canal d’Amour is more than a photo-op — it’s nature, story, and landscape fused in one place. It’s not perfect (crowds can be a downside, the beach small), but those imperfections don’t erase the wonder. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Corfu. Go with open eyes, a spirit for adventure, and maybe someone you care about — the legend says it matters 😉.

The Canal d’Amour, or “Channel of Love,” is a famous natural attraction near the town of Sidari on the northern coast of Corfu. It consists of unique sandstone cliffs and narrow coves carved by the sea, creating small, intimate beaches and crystal-clear waters. According to local legend, couples who swim through the canal together will stay in love forever, which adds a romantic charm to the place. The scenery is striking, with golden cliffs, turquoise water, and hidden corners perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or simply enjoying the sun.

A coastal feature a.k.a the Canal D'amour. The soft shale or a similar rock type is being eroded by the waves to expose the coloured strata and form a little canal and larger bay.

The Castle of Porto Palermo

Located between Himara and Saranda, the Castle of Porto Palermo, also known as the Castle of Ali Pasha, is a must-see stop on your journey. The fortress offers a glimpse into history with its dark corridors and eerie staircases leading to breathtaking sea views from the rooftop. The well-preserved fortress is maintained by a friendly caretaker who shares interesting details about its history.
Ali Pasha Tepelena Castle near Porto Palermo Beach is a must—just a quick 5-minute hike up from the pebbly shore. 3€ per person gets you in for those jaw-dropping sea views from the top. Compact, atmospheric, and the perfect beach break; totally elevates your day. Highly recommend!
Shpat B — Google review
Interesting castle. We visited during preparations of some concert, so cables, chairs, stuff was everywhere and it kind od ruined the photos. The views are nice. Great price of history. The path leading to the castle was not really welcoming, lot of rubbish everywhere (like in all Albania).
Jana G — Google review
A small fortress, a well-preserved piece of history, but not well-showcased. There are no legends or descriptions of the times and history of the fortress. There is no dedicated parking; you can park your car near the bay and walk for about 5 minutes. The fee is minimal, and it's worth a visit, but again, without descriptions, a story... the experience feels dry.
Neagu M — Google review
Porto Palermo is an amazing place full of history and charm. The views are absolutely stunning, especially on sunny days when the turquoise water sparkles in the sunlight — it looks truly breathtaking. There’s also a nice restaurant nearby, maybe not the cheapest, but the food is genuinely delicious and worth it. The whole area has a fantastic atmosphere and is definitely worth visiting. However, there is one major problem that really needs attention — cleanliness. Unfortunately, the place can be very dirty at times. We’ve been there several times, and piles of garbage with a terrible smell were left lying around. It’s shocking that such a beautiful and popular destination, visited by so many tourists every day, is not properly maintained. It’s surprising that the local authorities allow this to happen in such a remarkable location. Despite this issue, I still highly recommend visiting Porto Palermo. It’s a beautiful spot where you can swim, relax, or even come with a camper van or launch a jet ski or a small boat. It truly has great potential — I just hope the cleanliness will soon match the beauty of this place.
Albania4x4offroad C — Google review
For €3 per person it was fine, but not a place I’d go out of my way to visit. Nice views from the top of the castle and it is probably interesting for those that know the history, but there was no information about the history on site for those that didn’t do any reading prior to the visit. We went during off season so there was enough parking, but I imagine that parking would be tricky when it’s busy. Entry fee was only payable in cash.
Michelle — Google review
Porto Palermo Castle is a great stop if you’re exploring the Albanian Riviera. The entrance fee is 300 LEK (cash only), and there’s plenty of parking right in front, which makes it super convenient. The castle itself is small but interesting, with beautiful views over the bay and some great photo opportunities. There’s also a lovely little beach right next to it which is perfect for a quick swim or just relaxing after your visit. It’s a nice, easy visit that doesn’t take too long and is definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area!
Tila N — Google review
Very nice and big castle to explore. We had only a few people there, but I think it can get crowded. There is a free parking at the beach (the beach I wouldn't reccommend, because there was quite a lot of trash around, but some people were still there)

Porto Palermo Castle is a stunning surprise on Albania’s southern coast. Perfect for a break from beach days, its fortress walls and sea views transport you back in time. Explore, snap photos, and soak in history with a side of Adriatic breeze.

Gjipe Beach is a hidden gem located between Dhermi and Vuno in Albania. It boasts a stunning stretch of isolated white sand and rock, backed by towering cliffs and surrounded by pristine blue waters. Accessible via a one-hour hike or a 20-minute walk from the nearest parking area, this beach offers visitors the chance to explore caves nestled within the cliffs. The surrounding area also features charming villages like Dhermi and Vuno.
Did a early (8am) Sunday morning hike to the beach, very quiet, water was amazing. Lots of campers (some waking up hungover). There are two bars, sun bed/chair rental and water activity toy rentals.
A M — Google review
Little bit difficult to reach this beach via narrow path from main road - about 30-40 min walking. The entrance to the Gjipe canyon directly from the beach trough the "camp" place. The nice walk into canyon untill the first more difficult big stone obstacle cca 600 (800)m from the beach - unfortunately with the broken climber rope = finish = no way to proceed.
Radomír P — Google review
Cons: mandatory paid parking (400lek) , and the campsite and few businesses around the area have massive amounts of trash at the bottom of the bay ( it does seem like they’re slowly working on taking it out after tourism season) , and it got pretty crowded as of October 20th by late morning/ early afternoon. Pretty low dangling electric line as well dropped across the whole beach Pros: it’s a nice beach, with nice rocks/ canyon behind it
Just G — Google review
We parked for just 4 euros in September, plenty of spots since we arrived early and hiked down about 20 minutes to the beach. The trail's rocky and uneven with all sorts of stones, so sturdy sneakers are a smart move to keep it comfortable. The beach itself is a dream: pristine and peaceful, with rentable sunbeds (we brought our own and set up near the caves at the far end for that secluded vibe). The water is breathtakingly clear and inviting, perfect for a refreshing swim. There's a cozy restaurant with reasonable prices, public bathrooms, and a little bar for easy drinks. Campers with tents dotted the area, adding to the laid-back scene, and if you're feeling adventurous, you can explore the nearby canyon hike. Head back before dark, the uphill climb takes 30-40 minutes and feels tougher, but we got lucky when a kind local in a jeep offered us a free lift to the top (we tipped him gratefully for the save). An unforgettable spot that's absolutely worth the effort. Highly recommend!
Shpat B — Google review
Just a wonderful place. Crystal clear water and breathtaking views. A little difficult to get to (you have to walk about 30 minutes on a rocky road and the scorching sun). It is very crowded in the season but there is plenty of space if you arrive in the morning. There is a bar on the beach. Before the descent there is a large paid parking lot where you can leave your car.
Roman K — Google review
The only reason to go there is to combine hiking and beach, as there is an access to canyon which is beautiful. The beach is okey, the water was nothing special- we stay in Himare - the colors and quality of water much better. The view from the water to the canyon is beautiful. If you ask me, will I go again - my answer is no. 1) the road On the map the road leads directly to the beach. It does. But last 15 min it is very very bad , big stones, very narrow, on the slope, without any side barriers. We parked the care on the big parking spot, paid 4 euro. Then you go down this road by food ( take your sport shoes on). 2) expansive It was not crazy busy, we came at 15:00. Took a sunbads - 20 euro. There is no shower. So I think for that reason it is overpriced. 3) dirty There are a lot of campers. Who apparently contributed to the big dump and all that trash that lays on the back of the beach. 4) rude ppl who work at the “cafe” cafe looks like abandon barn. Ppl who work there are quite rude. My advice: you can enter the canyon from the road side, have a hike till the beach, stay at the sea, and return without all that experience.
Anastasia D — Google review
While it's certainly beautiful and quite unique naturewise, the quantity of people there during summer is ridiculous. The beach itself is public though you can rent sunbeds etc. It's super crowded, people partying with loud music, and party boats passing by. Heaps of aggressive wasps and rubbish. Parking is chaotic and private (4€-8€ for a car), and the narrow access road makes getting there or leaving almost impossible during rush hour. Keep in mind that you'll have to walk 20min downhill to get there.
Stefanie M — Google review
The beach is great and clean but the road down to it is very challenging. If you don't have an off road car, you have to walk to get to the beach and park the car at the parking on the hill. If you have an off road car, note that the road has a lot of stones and no side protection barriers. It's very difficult when 2 cars are exchanged because the road is narrow. The canyon is an extra beauty added.

Not many people at the fat end where the public beach is and the water is very nice . Good place for a weekend buy the hard part on the weekends is finding parking spots because many people visit !! Great sunsets

Beautiful beach with many restaurants and pubs but if you are going with small kids on my humble opinion the place is not so easy ( parking, walking to the beach with a stroller, space for the kids to play).

Dhermi Beach is an absolute gem! The moment you set foot on its shores, you're greeted by the most stunning white, round rocks that beautifully contrast with the incredible turquoise color of the sea. It's truly a sight to behold. And as if that weren't enough, the majestic mountains in the background complete this picturesque scene, making it an unforgettable experience. The water is crystal clear and inviting, perfect for a refreshing swim. Whether you're looking to relax on the unique pebble beach or simply soak in the breathtaking views, Dhermi Beach is a must-visit destination.
Vigan J — Google review
Dhermi's public beach is a pebbly paradise, though we hit it around noon and the biggest hassle was parking. The roads are insanely narrow, and spots are paid—closer to the beach costs more; we snagged one a bit farther for 3 euros and strolled down. Plenty of private sections with sunbeds starting at 15€ or higher, but the public area feels squeezed—hoping that expands soon for more easy access. That said, the water is stunningly clear and blue, with restaurants and bars all around for effortless hangs. Overall, totally worth the squeeze; it delivers that classic Albanian magic.
Shpat B — Google review
Really enjoyed this beach. Plenty of space on public area if you don’t want to rent an umbrella or sun beds. There are many food and beverage options. The water is crystal clear and don’t get deep immediately.
Sari M — Google review
Just beautiful! We went on a day where the waves were pretty strong so the kids couldn't swim. The shore is about 2 meters then there's a massive drop, so I wouldn't recommend young kids come here. There were expensive and cheaper umbrellas, varying from 10 euros to 30 euros. The beach was just lovely, clear waters!

"Dhërmi is an absolute gem on the Albanian Riviera! Crystal-clear waters, stunning beaches, and breathtaking mountain-sea views. The village keeps its traditional charm, and the locals are incredibly welcoming. Perfect for both relaxation and adventure. Highly recommended!"

Large and spacious beach. Crystalline water, beautiful views. Beautifully styled surroundings, new hotels, restaurants and plenty of beach bars. It's like a mini resort and not cheap at all. For 2 sun loungers and an umbrella you have to pay from 15 to 30EU. But you can lie down on the stones like we did. For us, Dermiu is just a short stop for about 2-3 hours while traveling south. It is worth taking a walk to the end of the beach... there are stairs leading straight to an interestingly decorated bar among the rocks. At high tide, the waves create a wonderful effect. At the end of May, the bar was not open yet. In our opinion, the beach in Dermiu is definitely worth visiting.

Horrible beach with sharp stones, the kid responsible for the parking lot wanted to get in my car and park it for me, which was absurd to begin with. Of course I told him there is no chance of that ever happening, he got offended and then made a comment about my car being nothing special. Which was really funny since it’s a new car worth more than his salary over the next decade. Strongly reccomend to stay away from this mess.

Sights & Landmarks
St. Mary's Monastery, also known as Zvernec Monastery, is a unique religious site located on an island within the Narta Lagoon to the north of Vlore. The monastery is secluded and mythical, making it an impressive destination for visitors. It features a beautiful church with old Byzantine icon paintings on its walls. The surrounding area offers stunning water views and picturesque sunsets, making it a popular spot for bridal photoshoots.
A Hidden Gem of Peace and Beauty I visited the Monastery of St. Mary in Zvërnec yesterday, and I was absolutely enchanted. The wooden bridge leading to the small island gives you the feeling of stepping into another world — peaceful, untouched, and full of history. The monastery itself is a beautiful piece of Byzantine architecture, simple but deeply spiritual. Surrounded by tall pine trees and the calm waters of the lagoon, it’s the perfect place to disconnect and reflect. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Vlora area. It’s a short drive but offers a truly unique and serene experience.
Marius S — Google review
The Monastery is nice and in good condition, there is a free parking place, so it worth taking the time to visit. I gave 4 stars because the lake is dirty with litter and the access pontoon is in a bad shape.
Adrian D — Google review
A small church that is worth visiting more for its position on that island and the special pontoon that leads to it! There is also a large parking lot that seems to be little known because most people park on the road. Park in the parking lot, it's free and you clear the road too!
Relu R — Google review
St. Mary’s Monastery is a beautiful and peaceful place full of history and charm. The old stone walls, icons, and altar create a truly spiritual atmosphere, and the surroundings are just as lovely. The walk across the wooden bridge to get there was really cool and added to the experience. The only downside is that the water around it has quite a bit of trash, which is a real shame for such a special place. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Beautiful very climatic small monastery. Ideal if you are passing near Vlora for 30min stop to spread your legs a bit. The bridge was very fun and I must say very good place for nice pictures of the surroundings. Heard that there are nearby some very interesting bunkers but due to gravel road we passed this as were in rush. The monastery is very old and a bit shocked that this is rather underdog in regard to popularity.
Paweł S — Google review
A gorgeous Monastery located on an accessible island. The Monastery itself is small, but the area around is gorgeous. There are many well kept buildings, a small garden and a bridge that takes you there. The whole experience is worth it.
Ardesian B — Google review
We from The Netherlands visited the Monastery during our round-trip through Albanië. Very well you feel the ancienity and the bridge towards it, makes the trip very special. Inside the church is beautiful as you can see on the picture enclosed.

Nice small place! Entrance was for free. If you have a bicycle you can leave next to the monastery - on the bridge! Good to combine this place and light house next to

Ancient Ruins
Apollonia, Qyteti Antik Ilir, near Fier is an ancient Greek city founded in 588 BC on a site initially occupied by the Illyrians. The archaeological site offers year-round access and features impressive ruins that have been transformed into a lived-in city. The grounds are well-maintained with abundant wildflowers and landscaping. Visitors can explore the updated signage with CGI images of the ruins, including the Arch and two-storey promenade.
Apollonia Archaeological Park – A Wonderful Family Visit We visited as a family with young children aged 3 and 5. It took us 2–3 hours to explore at a pleasant pace without feeling rushed. The park is spacious, but there are shaded spots under trees and two restaurants—one at the top of the hill and another on “Lion’s Hill”—which make for pleasant breaks. At the start of the route, there’s a 5–10 minute uphill section. It’s not too difficult, but it can be challenging with a stroller. In general, the site isn’t very stroller‑friendly. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, bringing a hat, and having water with you.
Shachar P — Google review
A little overcrowded but nice to visit. No handicaped accessable. The museum in the monastery is nice, the archäological area, well, it is difficult to orientate yourself. The reconstructions are nice. But anyway, not so much to see. But if you are interested in Archäology, a must of course.
Manuel G — Google review
Easy parking access for 200LEK and easy access to the site aa well. Nice to walk around and see this place starting to show itself. Needs a lot more digging but already enough to explore. Friendly people and restaurants included at the location
Patrick N — Google review
Stunning ruins of the ancient city of Appolonia. Some really interesting information laid out in the museums and a sprawling site to enjoy some awesome structures and gorgeous views. One of the highlights our Albania trip.
Spencer O — Google review
The roads getting to the parking lot were very poor dirt path and single lane pavement. It looks like they are building another (single lane) road, but it will be a while. Large, free parking lot. Adult admission is 600 LEK (cash only. Single male and female toilet inside compound, in the corner by the office. Small 12th century Byzantine Monastery, nice museum with artifacts to 4th century BC. The grounds contain the foundations of a multitude of ancient buildings. Good markers with photos of what they would have looked like. Descriptions in Albanian and English. Ate lunch at hilltop restaurant (good food/beers). Cash only.

Apollonia is one of the most fascinating historical sites in Albania. Walking through the ruins, you get a real sense of how many centuries and cultures have shaped this place. A large part of the ancient city still lies underground, and with only a month of excavation work each year, the full story may take decades to uncover. That makes what’s already visible even more impressive. To truly appreciate it, I recommend reading a bit about its history beforehand – or better yet, go with an archaeologist or guide. It’s a quiet, powerful place where history speaks from the stones.

Beautiful historic ruins. Two onsite food locations. Requires 1-3 hours depending on how much time you like to spend in the museum.
Martin D — Google review
Very nice place to visit but bé prépares because in a sunny day, you will sweat A LOT. Two major downsides for me: very poorly managed rest rooms and the absence of anything to see in some spots (e.g. in the acropolis)

Laghetto Cave di Bauxite is a remote hiking area with red rock cliffs and emerald green water, located near Otranto. The site was once an old cave and offers picturesque views for nature enthusiasts and photographers. Visitors can enjoy the colorful scenery and take stunning photographs of the unique landscape. While not a must-see attraction, it is quite picturesque and conveniently close to Otranto, making it worth a visit if you're in the area.
Beautiful and unique...Bauxite is a rock and important aluminium ore, the lake is exceptionally beautiful, as is the entire surrounding area, whose path also leads to the sea. Parking spaces are available nearby for a small fee. The surrounding area invites you to go hiking. Highly recommended.

In Salento - in southern Italy - a few km southeast of Otranto, you can make a trip to Mars while staying on Earth in a unique natural setting. In fact, the lake is a quarry from which bauxite was extracted, a mineral from which aluminum is obtained The quarry was used between 1940-1976 when it was decommissioned It took on this aspect when it ceased to operate. A pond with emerald green water has been formed with water infiltrations of one of the many aquifers The earth is red fire for the presence of the mineral, the vegetation and the color of the water give a unique experience. We are a stone’s throw from Capo d'Otranto, where the distance between Italy and Albania is at least 70km. Good weather conditions allow you to see the Albanian coast in front. You can enjoy this area with my customized hiking, boat/dinghy and bike guided tours along this stretch of coast, available high quality road bicycle and boat/dinghy rentals. (Check out my profile)

Sights & Landmarks
Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata is an 11th-century cathedral in Otranto, Italy, known for its unique blend of Romanesque, Byzantine, and early Christian architectural styles. The cathedral features a crypt containing the remains of martyrs and ornate floor mosaics that cover the entire interior. The highlight is a vast 12th-century mosaic depicting biblical scenes and mythological imagery, including a stunning tree of life balanced on the backs of two elephants.
Like every single cathedral, basilica and church I have visited in Italy, the Cathedral di Santa Maria in Otranto is fantastic. First consecrated in 1088. Highlights inside the Otranto Cathedral include the well preserved 12th Century (1164) mosaic floor/pavement, and the chapel of martyrs where you will find 3 large glass fronted panels showing the limbs and skull bones of 800 or so local Christians killed by invading Ottoman Turks in 1480....look very carefully at the middle panel....are those 6 bullet holes in the top of the skull of one poor individual? Or are they something else? May they all rest in peace. But please make sure you also visit the Cathedral Museum right next door. For a modest 5 euro entrance fee you can marvel at many of the cathedral's religious and artistic treasures ......including a gold thread decorated-silk 17th Century bishop's cloak, a exquisitely embroided 17th Century artisan's dress, silver altar adorations, 3D stone reliefs, and a full map/composite of the mosaic floor inside the cathedral. What a privilege. Grazie Otranto ......Stewart from New Zealand

Amazingly beautiful church. The mosaic floor is beautiful!! I recommend it to everyone!
Ferenc S — Google review
I’ve rarely been so intrigued by a cathedral! 🤯⛪ The massive mosaic floor is absolutely fascinating — and at times, even a bit funny. It really gives you a sense of how little people knew about the world back then… and it’s wild to think it was all created by a single monk. The chapel containing the bones of 813 martyrs is chilling yet strangely mesmerizing 💀🕯️ The large crypt, with its forest of columns, feels both impressive and peaceful 🏛️ A definite must-see in Otranto!
Thibaud — Google review
This sacred space is unique. Learn about the floor beforehand, and then you will know about it when you visit. It is a whole mosaic floor following ancient techniques. It is a miracle that it was not covered with a new floor in the s XVII.
David ( — Google review
This is an amazing fit of architecture and art. It also does not feel heavy, not putting you down.
Valery Z — Google review
The artwork on the floor is unique, I have never seen a mosaic so big and so well preserved. The only ones that I remember are inside of Venice’s San Pietro (but geometrical shapes) and inside of Constantinople’s Hagia Sophia (but not so well preserved). It is definitely a must if you visit Salento. So much underrated.
Decebal T — Google review
I was drawn to visit this Cathedral. Free to enter and brows. Take photos and feel the history. Touch the stone behind the altar. Enjoy the picturesque town and sit by one of the sea side Cafe's and sip your Aperol spritzer.
Joe F — Google review
Here is a place where you can see how ages ago people learned of the Bible. The mosaics told the story of the tree of life and the division of Heaven and Hell. Having survived the conversion to a Mosque and back most of the frescoes were destroyed... butfor some reason they left the images of Mary... and a few of Christ on the cross.

Baia dei Turchi is a hidden gem nestled within the stunning Oasis of Alimini Lakes in Puglia, Italy. This picturesque beach, known for its soft white sands and crystal-clear waters, offers a tranquil escape surrounded by lush pine forests. Although it requires a bit of effort to reach from designated parking areas, the reward is well worth it. Visitors can enjoy the serene atmosphere while lounging on the beach or exploring secluded spots along the coastline.
Beautifully Sandy beach with nice water color. Excellent choice for a beach day in Puglia, because in Puglia you will find very few beaches with sand. This one is nice!
Alexandru P — Google review
Super sandy beach on the Puglia coast with crystal clear waters. There is a walk into it, but you can avail of the shuttle and parking for €10. There is another carpark for €5 but without the shuttle. We actually walked out as there was a large crowd coming out at the time. Beautiful beach, with small cliffs to provide shade. Our kids loved it.
Enda M — Google review
Just excellent. Clear water, beautiful colours, fine powdery soft sand. Better than most beaches on this side of Puglia.

Beautiful beach, but parking and getting down to the beach is not that easy.
Frank V — Google review
Crystal clear water with incredible fine white sand. We arrived around lunch time and still managed to find some space on the free beach. Bring sandwiches and water to avoid the constant queue at the only small bar. Plenty of parking with free shuttle near the beach, park in "Da Marco" €5.00 for the whole day 10 minutes walk from the beach. Bring time and peace, to relax, one of the most beautiful beaches in Puglia on the Adriatic coast.

beautiful beach and crystal clear water, the sand under your feet in the water feels heavenly, really!!! we are 8 billion people (almost 9) on this planet, and i think 6 billion of them were at the beach with us today. way too busy, the water wasn’t that busy though. beach clears up at around 18. would still recommend going. the walk is a bit far but it’s a nice one

Stuff got stolen from the boot/trunk which wasn’t visible. They block or copy your key remotely and take any valuables whilst you’re away. Don’t keep any valuables in the car!!! Don’t open the boot whilst in the parking lot!!!

Expensive car park but convenient for Grotto della Poesia. 1.80€ per hour paid at the start of your stay. No shade so bring a sun shield. We didn’t end up parking here but drove south and parked on the street for free in the shade only 5 minutes further from the Grotto to walk. For reference we stayed at the Grotto della Poesia for 4 hours swimming and sunbathing (did not visit archeological site).

People blending into the crowd and hanging out here to break into cars and rummage through bags etc. if you come here come without anything in your car. To be honest, not worth the visit- locals treat their sites like trash, broken glass, cigarette butts and vandalism on the historic artifacts.

Charles V Castle of Lecce

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
Castello Carlo V, a 12th-century fortress reinforced by Charles V in 1539, stands as a testament to Lecce's historical significance in defending against Ottoman invasions. This imposing structure now serves as a cultural center, hosting art exhibitions and events that explore its rich past and contemporary relevance. The castle's architecture offers insight into Renaissance military design with its formidable walls and strategic vantage points.
A true historical fortress in the heart of Lecce. Castello Carlo V is an impressive structure that tells centuries of military and political history. Originally built during the medieval era, the castle was expanded under Emperor Charles V in the 16th century to reinforce the city’s defenses. Today, the structure blends ancient stonework with archaeological remains, exhibitions, and peaceful inner courtyards (cortili interni) that reflect the grandeur of the past. The entrance is simple and rustic, but once inside, you can explore towers (torri), old prisons (prigioni), a small museum, and even the Cappella di Santa Barbara. Un viaggio affascinante nel cuore della storia leccese. Don’t miss it if you want to feel the military soul of Lecce.

3 October 2025. The website was broken so couldn’t buy tickets ahead. Turned up early for 1600 tour. Lovely ladies at the desk had no idea website wasn’t working so walked them through what we did - apparently an upgrade occurred yesterday. Was told tickets are €10 each and have to do a guided tour (consistent with website). However, tour is only in Italian. You have to download an app (you can use their wifi), then download 20mb specific to the castle and follow via an audio tour. So basically you pay €10 for a self guided audio tour but have to walk with the guide. And then technology used is crap and problematic - kicked me out multiple times as we walked around and had to delete and reinstall several times. As an IT professional it’s a disgrace. The front desk, if it wasn’t for the lovely ladies, was an utter debacle. Majority of our tour were English speaking and everyone had problems with the app and the wifi. To the tour, the guide was helpful with letting us know where we were and when to use the audio app. Her English was limited so really couldn’t ask questions. The guide enabled us to see locked off areas of the castle, most of which relied on the audio. There were a couple of spots where there were information posters in English. Maybe it was the rain but I think we missed parts of the castle. Would I recommend? IT Issues aside, no.

Just did the paid tour of Castello, amphitheatre & arena (with Roberta as our guide), we found her tour enjoyable and good value. Having the opportunity to enter areas that the public cannot and hearing from our knowledgeable guide extra stories and historical information was great. Would recommend.

Very interesting site from what we could see of it, but the majority is off-limits unless you're participating in one of their tours, and the next English tour with availability was days away. Worth a free walk-through of the open areas, but wish we'd seen more.
