The cleanliness, comfort and service quality were really top notch. But we would like to open a separate parenthesis especially to the hotel general manager Bahar Hanım. We felt at home thanks to her smiling face, interest and professionalism. Her meticulous follow-up of every detail, her quick solutions to problems and her respect for the guests are admirable. We have formed a bond with her and we still see each other. We recommend it to everyone with peace of mind. Thank you Bahar Hanım, thank you THE CİTY WALLS OTEL. (Translated by Google) Judging by the reviews, I stayed because the breakfast and rooms were good. I've stayed in many hotels in Diyarbakır for a long time. Yes, the rooms are nice and large, but the breakfast is practically non-existent. If you ask a shopkeeper in Diyarbakır for breakfast, they'll offer you a wider variety. I think the reviews are misleading about the breakfast. It's as if the hotel has been converted from a guesthouse to a hotel, but it still operates like one. When you ask for a printout of your invoice, they tell you the printer is broken. It may indeed be broken, but since you've been calling it a hotel for a day, I'm saying you need to take action. The price and performance don't match. (Original) Yorumlara bakarak kahvaltısı ve odaları iyi olduğu için kaldım. Diyarbakır Grand Mosque

Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
The Diyarbakır Grand Mosque, also known as Ulu Camii, is a significant Muslim religious complex with a rich history dating back to 1091. Situated in a city steeped in nine thousand years of diverse civilizations and cultures, the mosque boasts picturesque architecture and a large courtyard. Originally a church, it was converted into a mosque and is believed to have ties to Prophet Musa AS.
The Great Mosque was built in the late 11th century by the Seljuk sultan Malik-Shah I over an older mosque. According to some, it is the fifth holiest site in Islam after the Great Mosque of Damascus, which influenced its design. It can accommodate up to 5,000 worshippers and hosts four different Islamic traditions.
Faris R — Google review
You see an architectural texture that has turned from a church to a mosque. As a photographer, I took shots according to certain positions of the sun, it has a very pleasant architecture. I didn't go inside so I can't comment on it. It is a building that you will want to take photos of as you pass by.

Ulu Cami, Grand Mosque of Diyarbakır is the former St. Thomas Christian Church, one of the oldest churches in history. The mosque is considered by some to be the fifth holiest site in Islam. The Great Mosque of Diyarbakir is the oldest and one of the most significant mosques in Mesopotamia. Every corner has a different architectural design. The columns on the second floor have a different design. It is phenomenal.

I loved this Grand mosque. You will see diverse religious influences on the architecture of the mosque over time. Worth to visit.
Gulnabat B — Google review
beautiful mosque with a lot of history (used to be a church). We ran into a tour guide who explained what all the carvings on the walls mean. Look out for lion heads, carvings of rivers, vines... definitely worth visiting to see the beautifully carved stone columns

A very historical and interesting place, it keep attracting you to visit again and again. I've spent two times morning prayer here, in this mosque they practice Shafi'i school of thought. Will be back for more

The Grand Mosque, Ulu Camii of Diyarbakir. Believed to have dated back as far as to Prophet Musa AS. It was formerly a church and later got converted to a Mosque. It is the 5th Holiest Mosque in Islam, having close to 7 Prophets and some Sahabis of Prophet Muhammed SAW worshipped here. The mosque complex also hosted the first universite established in the subregion. This complex hosted 3 empires; Roman, Selcuks and the Ottomans. This is clearly evident by the inscriptions found on the walls. There is also the world's first sun clock in the compound built by the father of Algebra.

Hasan Pasha Inn, a 16th-century former lodging in Diyarbakir, is now a popular breakfast spot with restaurants and gift stores. The inn features historical structures like the Virgin Mary Church from the 3rd century, Asur Castle, Caravanserai with 72 rooms and 17 shops, and the second longest walls in the world. The atmosphere is steeped in history and offers an excellent place for breakfast.

Hasanpaşa Inn. Inside, there are breakfast vendors and souvenir shops. It's a historic place, and the interior is crowded. And there are gold bars around it. It's a must-see.

An excellent place to have your breakfast, when you are in Diyarbakır. The atmosphere and design are historical, you will see these in this Bazar in general. The staff are helpful and respectively follow your requests. The serviced food are awesome, whatever in your mind is infront of your eyes. The only difficulty you will face is going upstairs, since the ladders are narrow and high, making climbing hard.
Hayman S — Google review
There are variety of cafes in this Inn. Have Turkish coffee in this historical Han and feel the vibe.
Gulnabat B — Google review
A historic site in Diyarbakir with a cube-like structure, believed to erected in a manner similar to the structure of the holy Kabba of Mecca and its surrounding buildings. This is a very popular area for tourists and their special but expensive breakfast menus are well patronised. There is a bookstore below this building which is exceptionally varied in collections. The coffees here too are great.

Deyrulzafaran Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Deyrulzafaran Monastery, originally a Roman citadel and temple, is now the oldest Syrian Orthodox monastery dating back to 493 AD. It is believed to have been built on the site of a pagan temple dedicated to the moon god. The complex includes a 4000-year-old room and serves as a worship center. Guided tours are available, providing insight into its history by Syriac guides.
The Saffron Monastery, built upon the bones of Shamash 𒀭𒌓 I loved the ancient divine walls of Mor Hananyo, tour guides were really good, but tourist groups are always an annoyance.
Burak B — Google review
There's no public transport here so you must take a taxi or as I have done - you walk around 90 minutes. The monastery stands about 6km along a good but narrow road in the rocky hills east of Mardin. Try to visit on a weekday otherwise there are busloads of tourists as this place is magnificent and extremely popular. It was once the seat of the Syriac Orthodox patriarchate but this has now moved to Damascus. Services in Aramaic are still held here.
Nataliia K — Google review
A special place with magic ambient and history but it’s worth to stay couple minutes longer, after the crowd of visitors departed, and explore the place in silence. Then the vibe is truly amazing.
BARTOSZ R — Google review
Cool Syrian monastery. Can only access as part of a group tour in Turkish. Was built over an assyrian temple you can see the chamber where they used to venerate the sun through a slit in the wall. Worth the visit.

Deyrulzafaran Monastery Deyrulzafaran Monastery is a historical Syriac Orthodox monastery located in Mardin, Turkey. It was founded in the 5th century (around 493 AD) by Mor Şleymun and took its name from the saffron (zafaran) plant in its vicinity. The monastery was one of the important religious centers of the Syriac Church and served as the patriarchate (1160-1932). It existed during the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods and draws attention with its architectural arched structures, mosaics and stonework. It is still an active monastery today and maintains its importance in terms of religion and tourism.
Mazhar A — Google review
1500 year old. Full of history and still in use for worshipping so quite unique place. There is 1500 year old pagan worship place. So amazing that they put about 20 stones each 1.5 tons on the roof without any adhesive. I was stocked that how they did it. They used 45 degrees 📐 angled stones. That was on 500 AD. Amazing.
Mustafa T — Google review
Very beautiful monastery, surely worth a visit. Visits are all with a local guide (only in Turkish) but you can get the history of the place on Wikipedia. You can reach it by taxi only, about 400 TL (in July 2025 = less than 10 Euros).
Andrea S — Google review

Antik Dara Kenti

Awesome place to visit. If in the Mardin area this is a must see. My wife and I spent about 3 hours vising all the sites in Dara (2 cisterns, ancient city, tombs). Day we visited some kids were chasing a mentally challenged adult and throwing rocks at him. The town itself is very dirty and its kind of depressing to see people literally living in structures (using structures loosely) built on top of one of the 2,000 year old cisterns. With all this said still worth visiting. Going between the sites I would suggest driving versus walking.
EveryDayGlory ! — Google review
Exploring the village and cemetery around this archeological site gives full depth to the experience.
Mighty V — Google review
Perhaps it wasn't a good idea to visit during peak season and weekend. It's a hard time to walk around to absorb the feeling of the past whilst the crowd sort of making loud noises and can't focus to stay still at one spot. The parking spot was also difficult. However, it was a cool experience and kind a difficult to find toilet.
Diva C — Google review
Great ancient city to visit, short ride from Mardin. The complex is divided into 4 different sites. Loved the two cisterns.
Lucas M — Google review
Definitely must see ancient town! Dara, an important East Roman fortress city dating back year of 530. Ancient city is huge and modern town of Dara is now situated on the ruins which are clearly seen. People continue living in ancient city, we can say. Grave area is well kept and welcomes you as a first stop. Necropol, dungeon, and a King Seat is a bit away, in village centre. Anyone visiting Mardin shouldn’t miss this forgettable experience.
Suha G — Google review
Must see and read about. No more comment is needed.
Cumhur — Google review
I was amazed by this ruin city where mostly you can find caves carved in the stone. There is alsó a necropolis which is very unique. The site is on a huge area. It is highly recommended!
Gabriella S — Google review
Visiting Dara when in Mardin should be mandatory. About 35 km to the east of Mardin you find not only ruins of this once strategically important place but also a church carved into a rock with a necropolis. See graves in the walls and through a glass floor myriads of bones in basement floor. Explanation: Dead bodies were buried in the carved bunks in walls. After a few month the meat was absorbed by the lime stone and bones were either given back to the family or thrown into the ground floor. Very hygienic and brainy. Not sure if people who still bury their dead relatives in a bag, awaiting the worms from inside, could become familiar with this idea. I'm bowing for them.

Mor Gabriel Monastery

Mentioned on

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Mor Gabriel Monastery, located in Midyat, is a hilltop monastery dating back to the 5th century. It holds great historical and spiritual significance as one of the oldest surviving Syriac Orthodox monasteries in the world. The monastery features ancient mosaics, domes, and cloisters and has been excellently restored. Visitors can gain insight into its rich history through guided tours offered by knowledgeable staff.
Worlds 2nd Oldest surviving Saurian Catholic Monastery. There is an entrance fee of about 100₺ (Turkish Lira), there was restoration and preservation work being done when I visited some areas where closed off but we are able view most of the monastery, has clean public toilets with wheel chair access. The area is about 25 minute drive from Midyat in the southeast of Turkiye.
Emma — Google review
Well preserved monastery. They do group tours like Deyrulzafaran Monastery but this one felt more intimate with fewer people and our guide spoke solid English which helped appreciate and understand the history.
Mandy K — Google review
Absolutely stunning place and carries that sense of peace. I wish I'd known about this place earlier since it is one of the holiest sites of the world. Now some advice for solo travelers... It's true that there are no direct buses to this magnificent place. I took a minibus from Mardin to Midyat (100 TL) and then took the minibus from Midyat to Cizre. I asked the driver to drop me off at the turn for Mor Gabriel, so he charged me 45 TL. It took us 15 minutes to get to the turn. Then began my ordeal of walking 2.7 km in the scorching sun (40°C in Midyat that day). Do not forget to keep sun cream and something to cover your head and neck. I never asked for hitchhiking, so no one offered, but you can give it a shot. There were 8-10 cars that passed me. In my experience, there's a slim chance of Turkish tourists stopping. The locals are always ready to give you a ride. I reached Mor Gabriel within 35 minutes. I am a brisk walker (8 minutes per km), but this was tougher due to the temperature and two slightly upward slopes. Once I reached, there was a very clean toilet and then a guy selling drinks and ice cream at the entrance. The ticket was for 100 TL. We waited around 10 minutes for people to gather, and then the tour began. You can take pictures pretty much anywhere apart from the active Monastery locations. Very informative tour, but it's all in Turkish. The tour takes 30 to 40 minutes, and you get to know all about the Assyrian history. It is very highly recommended. On the way back, I began walking after buying enough water bottles. After 10 minutes, a car stopped, and the owner offered me a ride back to Midyat. He was from Izmir, and we had an amazing chat about the Assyrian history and how different societies coexisted.
Adil S — Google review
I recommend you to go and look back on your life by looking at their language and culture that they still protect.
Eunseok K — Google review
This is an impressive place with it's architecture & its history I suggest reading more about its history ahead of your visit Make sure you are there during it's operating hours There was not much of a wait but guided tour was a bit crowded and rushed and only in Turkish though they answered questions in English You have ample time to explore on your own and take pics If you are ever in the region, must visit site
Evren E — Google review
The place is definitely worth visiting: we paid a small entrance fee and when we went there it wasn’t crowded at all, so we had the possibility to enjoy the quietness of the monastery. The place is very well kept, clean and peaceful. There’s free parking just outside the monastery.
Alice P — Google review
Thanks to the Kaliru Turizm Agency (Şanlıurfa) my vacation turned out to be so wonderful. I was able to book this tour to Mardin at short notice and I have not regretted it for a second. The monastery has been excellently restored and is a place of tranquility and reflection.
Hans-Martin S — Google review
This monastery is a gem. It wasn't overcrowded so we could enjoy the place and the quietness. Highly recommend stopping there when in Mardin and on the way to Midyat. Free parking at the entrance and small fee to get in.

Mansour Mall is the first “big mall” in Baghdad and one of the first major shopping centers in the city. I have lots of memories here as i used to come here regularly with my family. It still has the same charm i’m used to. It’s filled with all kinds of stores, restaurants, cafes, arcade games, mini amusement park, and one of the first branches of Iraqi Cinema. al mansour mall A large mall that contains good brands and is crowded most of the time. It is considered one of the best markets in the region. It contains a variety of restaurants. It also contains large halls for children to play and contains a multi-selection cinema. It has difficulty finding a place to park cars, especially during times of rush and holidays

My first visit to Imam Hossein’s Shrine, which was on an Arbaeen Day, was one that I will never forget in my life. My feeling was as if I have entered my childhood home and am playing in the garden. The level of joy, happiness, and deep calm was extra ordinary. The Shrine of Imam Hossein, I believe, is like no other in the world. The level of love that is shared and exposed from people to this great man of history, Master of Martyrs, as can be seen when visiting his shrine, is so much that can only be compared to similar men of God; like Prophet Mohammad, Jesus Christ, Imam Ali, peace be upon them all. Imam Hossein’s Shrine, is a must visit for everyone in this world!

Words can’t capture what I felt when I stepped into the shrine of Imam Ali. The moment I saw the golden dome shining under the sky of Najaf, my heart trembled. Inside, surrounded by prayers and tears of pilgrims from every corner of the world, I felt a peace I have never known before — as if the weight of life had been lifted. This is not just a place to visit; it’s a place where souls awaken, where love, courage, and faith live forever. Leaving was the hardest part — but the feeling stays with you forever

Nestled in the historic city of Najaf, Iraq, the Imam Ali Shrine honors the life and legacy of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), a central figure in Islamic history. Famous for its striking golden dome, detailed Islamic artistry, and serene atmosphere, the shrine is a destination for spiritual reflection and pilgrimage for millions of visitors every year.
Mujtaba A — Google review
This is one of the best Holy Shrines in Iraq. Recently a huge extension was added which can easily accommodate another thousand visitors both men and women. The new chandlers fixed in the new extension are very unique and one of its kind. For cleaning them, the authority there have fixed a special system by dragging the ropes by at least three persons and slowly it’s brought it with great care. The cleaning system is very efficient and also the people who handle them. The outside prayer hall is huge and it can accommodate at least four to five hundred prayers. Since it’s an open space, many prayers prefer to pray inside because the area is fully airconditioned. Also it’s near to the main shopping areas. In fact some of the shops are almost attached to the outside wall where in couple of places there’s is a door where people can go in and out from these doors but they have to go through a tough security point‼️‼️ As Imam Ali (peace be upon him) is the first Imam of twelve Shia Imams, the Holy Shrines is always full of prayers from inside and outside of Iraq especially on various religious occasions 🌹🌺 Entry is FREE and entry time depends on the day and time of the year but it’s not difficult as there about six main doors from where you can enter easily. However once you are near the Tomb, it will take sometime to reach the Holy Shrine because of huge number of visitors and narrow lanes leading to the Shrine but it’s worth because once you are there you sense a feeling of peace and comfort 💕

The Grand Mosque of Kuwait, also known as 'Al-Masjid Al-Kabir', is a must-see attraction in the heart of Kuwait City. It's the largest mosque in the country and the 8th largest in the world.
2025.05.05 I visited here Mashaa Allah this is the best place in Kuwait. All staffs are very kind, very supportive and they give us respect. I have visited many places in Kuwait but this is number one in everything. Also who ever staying in Kuwait or plan to visit Kuwait every one need to visit here. Most important thing this staffs know English well they talking with us in English that is very important. Personally I give 5 stars for the staffs only.

This s my first visit to the Grand Mosque of Kuwait. From outside, this mosque look descent and humble. But when I entered the mosque, it is marvelous, beautiful interior, fantastic dome, beautiful carpet, bluish and golden color make the interior so amazing. It is filled with Islamic calligraphy, all over the wall and the dome. In its exhibition hall, it has some calligraphy too from other countries such as China. You need to wear your cloth properly, and for ladies, you need to wear cloth that cover your body from top to toe (hijab, headscarf). Very beautiful.

This was the first attraction I visited in Kuwait City, and it did not disappoint! The building is absolutely glorious, the main hall is breathtaking in both size and beauty. The architecture is stunning and truly worth seeing. Entrance is free, and there are tours available in English, which makes the experience even more engaging. A must-see landmark in Kuwait City!.

The Grand Mosque is a breathtaking landmark that beautifully showcases Islamic architecture and Kuwaiti culture. The intricate interiors, grand dome, and peaceful atmosphere make it a must-visit in Kuwait City.

The Grand Mosque is absolutely breathtaking. 😍 It's so quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Ladies are not allowed to go to the men section and vice versa. Do cover up dressing modestly, ladies need to wear Hijab (head scarf), no exposed body parts, arms and legs, need to be fully covered, no lace or transparent clothing. Men need to cover up as well wearing plain clothing like t-shirt and bottoms. No inappropriate writing and any pictures on the clothes. It's Free to visit and they have certain timings, best to go early in the morning around 9am.

Free guided tour provided as long as you follow the allocated time for guided tours. Some confusing information found online on the opening times for visiting this mosque. Do not come on Friday and Sunday. Though external of the mosque compound doesn't look as mesmerizing as other mosque in GCC, the internal decoration of the mosque has its own unique beauty. What I feel the best is the warm welcome of the guide and the free drinks (juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate) and snacks provided in the reception area. This you won't get at any other bigger mosque in this region.

A beautiful and majestic mosque in Kuwait City. Tour guides are friendly and we enjoyed a pleasant and informative tour!

The Visitor timings are from Sunday to Thursday Early morning to 6.30 as mentioned at the premises through visitor gate 7. There was ample parking space and we were guided by the security staff precisely. Refreshments and the traditional wear for women were available at the reception area and the tour was a guided one.

Al Mubarakiya is a lively and vibrant souk located in the heart of Kuwait, offering a captivating display of Islamic art at the Dar Al Athar Al Islamiyyah. This historic market dates back centuries and provides visitors with an authentic experience of Kuwait's unique atmosphere. It features a wide range of goods, from traditional Middle Eastern dishes to Persian silk carpets, antiques, fresh produce, and aromatic spices.
Old market place, lot of authentic restaurants and stands . For more fun Check social media sites.
Abulmajd A — Google review
Very strange market. One benefit and a drawback is that most of the traders are arranged in sections. All exchange offices are on one street, so you can compare the rates quickly. But on the other hand, it is difficult to find an exchange elsewhere. Goods are all the same in many shops: perfumes, rolls of fabrics. Barely anything for the tourists. Heritage street with mostly closed shops. All the sellers are sitting in the shops talking to somebody on the phones. Nobody's interested in the customers. Most of the shops are very small. How did you survive the covid?
Alik M — Google review
If you want to visit the old market and bazar of kuwait 🇰🇼 that is revamped and renovated with modern looks, then you must visit Al Mubarakiya. Everything there is well managed and cleaned. Old houses and structures, that was once the homes of people, now turned into shops. The market structure and shops make me feel like the old architectural design from a story from Alladin. Street with warm lighting ambience in style of old lantern, structure, small ventilation windows, old retro door of houses with chain buckles, still used to lock doors of shop, Adobe looks of houses now transformed into shops, made you time travel into time. All the shops are well organised and you can find a lot of clothing, restaurants, tea shops, sweet shops, perfume shop there. I simply love visiting this area. As many people were there, I was not comfortable taking pictures of the vicinity but somehow managed to get a few shots. Barbecue of the one of the restaurant 😋 is delicious with a good serving size but expensive.

The Kuwait Towers, a trio of striking blue-tiled structures, have been an iconic symbol of Kuwait since their completion in 1979. These towers serve both practical and touristic purposes, with one housing a revolving observatory offering panoramic views of the Persian Gulf and featuring high-rise restaurants. The tallest tower also functions as a water reservoir while another supplies electricity to parts of the district.
Lovely views of Kuwait coastline and city. You also get a nice overhead view of the Aqua park next door. Free entry for children under 4 years old. 1.5 KD for children between 4-9, and 3KD for 9 years and above. You’re not allowed to bring in food or drinks (you can buy some at the stand on the observation deck).

So pretty! But after going inside, there’s not much to do asides from a restaurant and the gift shop only had a couple items. Overall a good place to stop by if you haven’t been here before. Not worth going a second time though

I think it’s a nice park and the towers are quite striking from the outside. The day I went it was foggy, so I just walked around but didn’t go up. It was worth the taxi ride to visit and I would recommend it just to get outside and walk around in November.

Amazing view of the whole city. The viewing doom has a snacks bar & drinks. it has two levels, non-rotating which is wheel chair friendly and the upper level ''stairs access only'' is the rotating one. An entrance fee is required ''at this time of writing the review, is 3 K.D. per adult, Elders on Wheel chairs are FREE of charge''. The middle sphyre has two resturants that serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. But a reservation must be made!! A really nice place to visit! Unfortunatly, before it has a gallary about the Iraqi invasion distruction. but they remove it after renovation. its a really peace of history and should be kept in there!

The Avenues is one of the most impressive malls I’ve ever visited! It’s huge, beautifully designed, and offers a mix of luxury brands, high-street shops, and great dining options. The layout is easy to navigate, and each section has its own unique style. Whether you’re shopping, dining, or just walking around, it’s a fantastic experience. Perfect for families, tourists, and shopaholics alike!

I visited this mall on August 25, 2025. It is the biggest mall in Kuwait and you will need half a day to explore everything. In terms of prices, all the items to buy are branded, so it is hmmmmmmm. It is a great place to explore and spend your free time. It is mostly crowded at night time but at the same time night time is the best for the best view. There are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops everywhere, so don't worry about food and snacks. It is also a paradise for children. There is a lot of entertainment for them, while parents should be careful because if you sleep, your credit card and wallet will be empty 🤣🤣🤣 Washrooms are available. Prayer room also available.

The Avenues Mall in Kuwait is hands down one of the most incredible shopping destinations I’ve ever visited—truly in a league of its own. The scale, design, and atmosphere are absolutely breathtaking. It’s not just a mall—it’s an entire world of luxury, entertainment, and culture under one roof. From the moment you walk in, you can feel how thoughtfully everything is laid out. The architecture is stunning, blending modern style with unique themed sections like Prestige, Grand Avenue, and The Souk—each offering its own vibe and personality. Whether you’re here for high-end brands, everyday shopping, or just to explore, there’s something for everyone. The cleanliness and organization are flawless. The staff across the stores and food courts are always welcoming and professional, and the variety of restaurants and cafés is unmatched—you can find everything from international fine dining to casual bites. What truly makes The Avenues special is how it feels like more than just a mall. It’s an experience. Families, tourists, and locals all come together here, and no matter how many times you visit, it never loses its charm.

Amazing Stay with Exceptional Service! From the moment we arrived, Ms. Kashaf gave us a warm welcome, setting the tone for an incredible stay. The service was top-notch, and every aspect of our experience exceeded expectations. The room was superb, with a breathtaking sea view from the balcony—definitely a highlight! Room service offered a great menu with generous portions; we tried the salmon and pasta, both of which were delicious. The hotel also provides convenient basement parking, making our stay even more hassle-free. Overall, an excellent experience—we will definitely be back!

We had booked a deluxe partial sea view room. Rooms were of good size and even the toilets. Price also felt not that high compared to other beach hotels. But their restaurants and cafe were too expensive. Housekeeping was excellent. There was a warm water pool so we could use it even during this season. Breakfast was included, menu was good and had good varieties.

The valet service was bad, had to attend a wedding and they paid for the valet but I was told it was full and had to wait for almost 2 hours. If you have a wedding/event I advise to go at lease 1 - 2 hours early. Otherwise the hotel is nice

Beautiful place to stay , the rooms are clean , I booked the sea view chalet and suite both have sea view. The chalet has direct access to the beach and large out door seating area. There were no hot water in the bathroom which shocked me when I was taking a shower in the morning!! No slippers ! Or bathrobe! No cups for coffee or tea !! There were no coffee machine even it was mentioned in the booking criteria.

Absolutely the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, it was a disaster. The rooms were filthy, with dust, stains, and an overall feeling of neglect. The service was beyond terrible—staff were unhelpful, rude, and completely disorganized. The so-called ‘view’ was a joke, nothing like what was advertised. The buffet was disappointing, with cold, stale food. The outdoor seating area was poorly maintained, dirty, and unwelcoming. The tea and coffee station was a disaster—no coffee machine, barely any options, and cheap, low-quality coffee . The fridge in the room was EMPTY and dirty —no drinks, no snacks, nothing. The worst part? Hygiene was non-existent. Used toothbrushes left in the bathroom, and dirty beds a general lack of cleanliness throughout the hotel. They make big promises, but the moment you ask for something, the staff disappears. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s a complete waste of money and a huge disappointment. Save yourself the frustration and book somewhere else!

Al Nakheel Beach was an incredible experience. I spent nearly 3hours here and found it to be superior to any other beach in Dammam. Additionally, there is a spacious garden area that offers ample space for leisure activities❤️ I observed many families enjoying their time here, indulging in tea, coffee, and snacks. One of the amazing places I visited in Saudi Arabia reminded me of the Nile corniche or a beach, especially with its magnificent sunset views. However, despite its resemblance to the Nile, its salty taste brought me back to reality, reminding me that this was not the Nile. Marjan Island, also known as Coral Island, is the first artificial island in Saudi Arabia located off the Cornish road in Dammam. It's a popular tourist spot with beautiful scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. The island offers various attractions such as parks, picnic areas, children's playgrounds, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment centers. Visitors can access Marjan Island by driving across the bridge or taking a ferry ride from Dammam city.
We're going to this place for fishing and we spend long time here. This this a enjoyable island for spending your time with friends family and alone. Many peoples comes here to take some fresh air and gossip friends & family. This fishing area is cool and you can catch many fishes here. Personally i love this place.
SHARFin — Google review
I recently visited Marjan Island in Dammam during the evening, and unfortunately, the current condition of the spot is quite disappointing. The area seemed neglected, with a noticeable lack of cleanliness—trash was scattered around, and the usual vibrant atmosphere was missing. Unlike before, there wasn’t much foot traffic, giving the place a deserted feel. It seemed like the island might be partially closed or undergoing some sort of renovation, although no official signs confirmed this. Facilities that were once a highlight, like the monument tower and rest areas, appeared poorly maintained. If anyone is planning to visit Marjan Island soon, I’d suggest reconsidering or at least going during the day and being prepared for limited amenities. It’s best to bring your own food, water, and essentials, as the on-site options are minimal. While the location still offers a nice sea breeze and scenic views, the current state doesn’t reflect the vibrant destination it once was.

Marjan Island is a great spot if you're looking to chill out and relax. It's super peaceful, and some areas might seem a bit empty, but that actually makes it kind of special. The quietness and natural beauty make it perfect for just getting away from everything and enjoying some downtime. Whether you're taking a walk by the water or just soaking up the calm vibes, it's a cool place to escape the usual hustle.

“Marjan Island, Dammam – A Nostalgic Visit with Future Excitement” During our visit to Marjan Island, Dammam, after more than 28 years, we were delighted to relive the cherished memories we made here between 1990 and 2000. This island has always been a special place for us, where our kids enjoyed countless visits, and we once celebrated Pakistan Day with our close family, making it an unforgettable memory. While the island still holds its natural charm, we noticed that some planning and development work is underway, promising to bring more attractions for visitors in the future. As of now, the island remains a simple yet lively picnic spot, where most visitors were enjoying their time by the roadside, fishing, or relaxing with family. The main food options were from food stalls, which added to the casual, outdoor experience. One striking sight was the long stretch of cars parked beside the sea, showing how popular this place remains among locals and visitors alike. It was refreshing to see people gathering, enjoying the cool breeze, and making the most of the island’s peaceful atmosphere. We look forward to seeing how the planned developments will enhance the experience while keeping the island’s serene and nostalgic essence intact.

Mena Holiday Beach Resort Half Moon

Hotel
Outdoor Activities
Mena Holiday Beach Resort Half Moon is a charming bayside getaway that offers cozy rooms and suites, perfect for those looking to unwind by the sea. With its own private beach and a medium-sized pool, guests can enjoy leisurely days soaking up the sun. While dining options are available on-site, meals such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner come at an additional cost.
It is cut off from city centre, so hungerstation doesnt deliver here, leaving no other choice than to rely on the menu by the resort.otherwise its got a beautiful coastline with swimming pool for kids
Nida S — Google review
The only good thing about this hotel is that it has a private beach. Food choices for breakfast is limited. Called the staff to clean our room but nobody came and when we insisted on having our room tidied up, the hotel staffs declined and said that they have other rooms to clean first (no guests). Dirty pool especially the kiddie pool. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Only come here if you’re on a tight budget and wanted to have a private beach.
Aprilyn — Google review
The place is very good and the beach is also inviting you to swim. A good plce to hold a big event for company gatherings or recollections. A lot of fun activity and sports you can do here because of theur wide amenities. The only thing i do not like or disappointed is their toilet/ washroom. They should change/replace or renovate their public toilet mostly the toilet bowl and sink. It is very important to attract more guests and custumers.

I went on a Eid vacation, and the hotel was mediocre at best. Pros: Room size is good Location is perfect Cons: Awful food Terrible service NO cleanness Hotel has signs of age Shower takes time to be hot There was no cleanness in the hotel. There were no toothbrushes, tissues, or toothpaste and the towels were old and dirty. The "room cleaning" button on the hotel telephone does not work .The cleaner only came ONE time in my 4 day vacation, and if you try to get him to come clean your room he takes a long time to come. The food was awful for both breakfast and lunch. There was not a lot of food, and the food feels old and cold. In addition, the hotel is pretty greedy, so if you want to get a bottle of water or get a bottle of Pepsi, you'll need to pay up. The water is overpriced and small (costs 4 riyals!). The service is very bad. The hotel tries to minimize the amount of workers to reduce the prices of rooms, and that has diminishing returns. In the swimming pool area, there are no table cleaners and overall service is very bad. The hotel has signs of age, and that becomes evident when you go to the underground pool bathroom, as the roof is literally peeling off. These signs of age are all over the hotel, including in the bottom of doors, and in the rooms. Lastly, the shower takes a long time to get hot even if you set the water temperature at the highest. For the price, I expected more. The location is excellent, but the poor cleanliness, bad food, and lack of service make this hotel hard to recommend.

It was a terrible experience. I have never stayed in a hotel as bad as this. I would highly recommend not to stay in this hotel. Here’s why : The rooms were small and dingy. They were not cleaned properly as we saw trash in the room. The toilet was disgusting and unclean. They did not clean the room properly. There was not much to do. Extremely Boring. Quite safe. There was not much you could walk around. It was plain and nothing to eat. Especially breakfast the food was dead and completely disgusting. The room service was really bad. We asked them for a mattress they couldn’t give, they only gave a blanket with bugs in it. Whenever we ask they always bring at least 2 hours after. For people who’ve statues and Enjoyed before, rethink. This resort used to be holiday inn. Holiday in was superb. That’s why we came. They’ve changed their ways as there is a new owner. Mena hotel was previously holiday inn. But their ways have changed badly. They also scammed, lied, and cheated us. They promised us 3 beds that we never got. They charged us for 3 bedrooms but only gave us 2 bedrooms. They promised us mattresses but we never got that as well. They got us 3 useless blankets that we could not use without mattresses. Even one of them had bugs. A little message to the manager of Mena Resort : I you are reading this, we had a horrible stay. You offered us 3 beds and charged us for 3 beds but you only gave us 2. You promised us 3 mattresses but you only gave us 3 blankets with one having bugs. I’m sorry to say but we have not enjoyed this and certainly won’t come back. We feel we did not have a stay up to our expectations and if you made a mistake it would be shameful not to make compensate. You guys made a mistake and instead of trying to compensate you guys made it worse. Overall, staying in this hotel is not a good idea.

It is the worst resort ever - I don’t recommend anyone to stay here rooms are too old - not clean full of insects the moment you open the balcony door - villa beside are not renovated and full of damage furniture on in the front where it is supposed to sit and enjoy the sea view- they describe the unit as a villa of two bedrooms and in fact it is a studio type unit - too small and smelling bad

In addition to shopping, visitors can enjoy various entertainment options such as a cinema, food court, bowling alley, and children's play area. Looking forward to the final result!

A Great Shopping Experience with a Minor Inconvenience Al Rashid Mall continues to be one of the top shopping destinations in the Eastern region of Saudi Arabia, offering a fantastic mix of local and international brands, spacious interiors, and a vibrant atmosphere for families and individuals alike. Whether you’re shopping, dining, or just strolling around, the mall has something for everyone — from high-end fashion to cozy cafes and fun entertainment options. One small inconvenience at the moment is the ongoing refurbishment work in some areas. A few sections are temporarily closed off, which slightly disrupts the usual flow and causes minor detours etc. Overall, Al Rashid Mall remains a great place to spend time & shop around.

Al-Rashid Mega Mall in Madinah is a massive shopping and entertainment destination with a vast selection of international and local brands, a large food court, a cinema, and a children's play area. Reviewers praise its cleanliness, spaciousness, and extensive offerings, but some note high prices and a confusing layout. It is recommended for its wide range of shopping needs, from clothing to groceries at the attached Carrefour, and for general family-friendly activities.

this mall is under construction for months now. they still operate while ignoring safety protocols. hello civil defense…. open ceiling, and check the new escalator in the video. the railing height is not on standard. forgot to check the brand. right now til they don’t finish the renovation/reconstruction. i don’t recommend this mall.

Al Rashid Mall in Al Khobar is one of the most iconic shopping destinations in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The mall is massive, beautifully designed, and offers a complete mix of everything under one roof – from international fashion brands to local shops, a wide variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and family entertainment zones. It is not just a place to shop, but also a lifestyle hub where you can spend an entire day without running out of things to do. The architecture combines modern style with cultural touches, and the indoor environment is always well maintained, clean, and comfortable for families. Parking is huge and easily accessible, though the mall can get very crowded during weekends and evenings, so visiting during weekdays is more relaxed. The recent renovations have made the mall even more attractive, adding signature areas such as Al Rashid Fashion Avenue, Al Rashid Walk, Palm Court, and The Dome, which bring in new experiences and luxury vibes. It has a cinema, kids’ play areas, and spaces where the whole family can enjoy themselves. The traditional section inspired by Saudi heritage is also a nice touch, making it feel more than just a mall. Overall, Al Rashid Mall is not only a shopping center but also a landmark of Al Khobar where locals and tourists alike gather. Whether you are looking for fashion, dining, leisure, or simply a place to relax with family and friends, this mall delivers on every level.

Also called Judas Cave. It is worth a visit. There will be an offer for a tourguide-45minutes tour (need to pay a hundred tho), and they will let you borrow a flashlight each person. There will be fee for Entrance (fifty SAR)+ vat(7.5sar) per person (I wasn’t able to ask if there’s any difference of payment for kids). You are free to take photos.. there will be photographers around if you want better photos or printed copies. They also have Souvenir shops… If you are worried about food and drinks, there are cafes and restaurants you can go. Parking is not a problem, they got a big place for that. So far, it is far😂 but worth it.. a place away from work and worries.. a little break you deserve.. 🥰

Outside the caves it can get harsh (sun, heat) so visiting at cooler times of day is wise.Once inside, you’ll immediately notice the temperature drop — it can be 10–15 °C cooler than outside, making it a natural escape from the desert heat. The walk includes some open sections.Allow around 1–2 hours for the full visit.Entry fee: Around SAR 50–57 per adult. However, the light is ambient, not bright it’s designed to highlight the cave walls and atmosphere,

Al Qarah Mountain, also called Jabal Al Qarah, is a natural and cultural landmark in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahsa area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had little difficulty in locating the entrance of this heritage site after reaching Al Ahsa. Though only about 75 meters high, it is famous for its dramatic cliffs and cool caves formed by centuries of wind and water erosion. The mountain is composed primarily of sedimentary rocks such as limestone, sandstone, and clay, which over centuries have been shaped by wind and water erosion into dramatic cliffs, narrow passageways, and natural caves. They remain cool in the intense desert summer and relatively warm in winter, making them a natural air-conditioned shelter. Today, this place is a popular tourist attraction, with pathways and a cultural center that showcase its geology and history. Al Qarah remains a symbol of Al-Ahsa’s heritage, blending natural beauty with timeless traditions.

The Bahrain National Museum is a celebration of the history and civilizations of Bahrain, showcasing contemporary artworks, ancient burial mounds, and archaeological pieces dating back 5,000 years. Visitors can explore exhibits on pearl diving, traditional architecture, handicrafts, ancient manuscripts including copies of the Quran, pottery and coins.
Visited the Bahrain National Museum, and it was such a fascinating experience. The place beautifully captures the country’s rich history and culture. What really amazed me were the exhibits from the Dilmun civilization - especially the ancient burial mounds, pottery, and ornaments that date back thousands of years. Seeing how advanced and artistic that civilization was left me in awe. The museum is well-organized, easy to explore, and gives a real sense of how deep Bahrain’s roots go. A must-visit if you want to understand the soul of this island nation.

The Bahrain National Museum is a masterpiece of storytelling and design. Set along the waterfront, its calm, light-filled architecture perfectly complements the depth of the history it holds. Walking through the galleries feels like tracing Bahrain’s soul from the ancient Dilmun civilization to Islamic artistry and modern heritage. Every exhibit is beautifully curated, detailed without being overwhelming, and presented with care. What stood out most was how seamlessly the past and present are woven together you don’t just see history, you feel its continuity. A visit here leaves you with quiet awe and a newfound respect for this island’s enduring spirit.

A very large mosque. During prayer times, there are many worshippers. The car park next to the mosque is very large, but on Friday it was completely full of cars. As you can see, worshippers hold this place in very high regard. If you want to see what it looks like inside, you will have to choose another day.

Bahrain International Circuit is a modern motorsport venue that hosts Grand Prix races, driving experiences, and behind-the-scenes tours. The highlight of the events calendar is the Formula 1 GP, which offers an amazing experience and a vibrant atmosphere. While traffic can be hectic during major events, early arrival can mitigate this issue. Other notable events include Formula 2 and 3 races. Visitors can also enjoy watching team testing sessions and endurance races at the circuit.
Another Must-See of Bahrain. Although I'm not interested in racing I was quite impressed by the place. Have someone tell you a little bit, e.g. a tourguide. There is a souvenir-shop next to it

It was extremely hot here, but there are some places where you can refresh yourself. If you want to cool down yourself, they have this sprinkling water or you can just stay at the entry area where they scan the ticket code. It was air conditioned although it was on an open area. And they also have open water refilling station. Just bring your own water bottle. Do not bring any plastic bottle because they won't allow it inside. And on this picture, we were sitting at Block J.

The Bahrain International Circuit has become an essential date on my Formula 1 calendar. This world-class venue hosts not only F1 races but also thrilling competitions for Porsche Cup, Formula 2, and Formula 3. What truly stands out is the festive atmosphere during F1 race weekends. The circuit transforms into an exciting entertainment hub with activities for adults, teenagers, and children of all ages. The concerts that are part of the F1 experience add another dimension to the event, creating unforgettable memories for attendees. Throughout the year, the circuit maintains a diverse calendar of motorsport events and activities. I recommend checking their official website for the annual program to plan your visit accordingly. A fantastic place for families and friends! The Lost Paradise of Dilmun is not just a water park, it feels like a full-day getaway. The park is very well designed with beautiful themes inspired by Bahrain’s history, giving it a unique atmosphere compared to other water parks. There are rides and pools for all ages from thrilling slides for adventure seekers to calm wave pools and lazy rivers for relaxation. Kids have their own safe play areas, while adults can enjoy exciting attractions. Everything is clean, well maintained, and the lifeguards are attentive, which makes the experience safe and stress-free. Food options are good with a variety of choices, and prices are reasonable for the experience you get. Parking is convenient, and entry is smooth even on weekends. Overall, it’s one of the best attractions in Bahrain highly recommended for a fun day with family or friends!

Had an amazing time. Definitely one of the best attractions in Bahrain. The rides were thrilling the atmosphere was energetic, and everything was well managed. You can easily spend a full day here with family or friends. The DJ & the music kept the vibes alive throughout the day. However, the only downside was the food. We tried the pizza and broast, and unfortunately, both were below expectations. The pizza especially was quite disappointing. Food quality needs serious improvement; surprising that no one was raising concerns about it. Overall, still a must visit place at least once. Just hope they improve the food experience to match the rest of the park.

Tree of Life Bahrain

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Tree of Life is a renowned tourist destination in Bahrain that has stood for four centuries in the harsh desert conditions. It is surrounded by myths due to its ability to survive amidst scorching heat, and it is considered a miracle in the area's history. The site is well-maintained and captivating, with lush green leaves adorning the tree despite being planted in the heart of the barren desert.
An absolute tranquil and truly beautiful experience. The Tree of Life is a remarkable sight, standing alone in the desert for over 400 years and still providing shade, a living testament to resilience and wonder. The surrounding area is gradually being developed to help visitors soak in the rich history of the site, and the small museum nearby offers some fascinating facts that make the visit even more meaningful. The security team and the gentlemen at the museum were very kind and courteous, adding to the overall positive experience. Entry is free, which makes it accessible to everyone. Please, let’s not harm the tree, instead, let’s appreciate it for the rare treasure that it is. Sadly, some tourists have attempted to break off branches, so I urge visitors to be mindful and respectful. This is truly a place not to be missed when in Bahrain.

The Tree of Life in Bahrain is a 400-year-old mesquite tree standing alone in the Sakhir desert, about 40 km from Manama. Rising nearly 10 meters tall, it thrives without any visible water source, making it a symbol of resilience and mystery. Surrounded by legends—some link it to the Garden of Eden—it remains one of Bahrain’s most famous landmarks and a must-visit cultural treasure. Tree of Life is a lone Prosopis cineraria ( tree in the middle of the desert which is 400‒440 years old, believed to have been planted around 1582-1583 It stands on a sandy hill in the Southern Governorate, in the desert (Sakhir area). It’s remarkable because it survives in the desert without any visible source of water. There is no nearby river, stream, or irrigation, and rainfall is minimal. 1. Very deep roots (possibly reaching groundwater) 2. Adaptation to arid desert climate, such as small leaves, ability to use moisture from soil or air. There are myths and legends, too — some say Enki (a Sumerian/Babylonian god) protects it; others suggest it might mark the site of something ancient like the Garden of Eden. Best seen after dusk or near sunset for dramatic lighting. The drive off the main highway (Musakar Highway) can go through soft sand, so it’s safer to have a decent vehicle and be careful. Bring water and maybe some snacks; amenities are limited.

I went mid-day during the week. There were not any other visitors during that time. The area around the tree is much cleaner than it was 10 years ago the last time i visited. Nearby there are ruins and within a short drive there are other landmarks and destinations. There was a security person there who was knowledgeable about the tree's history and friendly also. A must see when visiting Bahrain. There are public restrooms near the tree if the need arises. Be careful on the drive there through the oil field roads. There are a lot of speed bumps that you would not expect on a road with such high speed limits. Some of the speed bumps are not marked or painted as well. This could be very dangerous at night.

A visit hete is a good way to see ehat the landscape outside the built up areas looks like - you will go through desert and pass many oil wells on the way there. The tree is inside a large circle of protected land, but not in the centre of it, so you can walk all the way round getting different perspectives.

Nice place to visit..But beware of sandstorm since it is in midst of desert. Nature's wonder

One of the must visit tourist spot when you visit Bahrain! This Amazing tree is said to be over 400 years! I’m astonished that despite the harsh weather and deserted area, the tree still flourish and continue to grow strong and sturdy! It withstand against time amazingly! The area around the tourist spot has really improved a lot! There are many tents for camping and food bazaars around! I remember when we can touch the tree personally. But now, there are fences around it to protect the tree. It’s good to know that the government is protecting the tree to maintain its natural health thus preserving the great history within it. When I went there, it find it just sad that the people were really loud and the ATV bike riders are making the air dusty! Making also the place not as solemn as it should be. But I had a great time to revisit this place after 2 decades! Would definitely comeback and hope the tree is till alive and flourishing!

It is a cool place to visit. I recommend going in the cooler seasons during sunset.

It's just a tree. We can say a grandfather tree, 400 years old. Many people go just to see that place and the wonderful tree. The place has a full time security. Surrounding is maintained very neatly.

Historic Sites
Zubara Fort is a well-preserved coral stone and mud fortress erected in 1938, now housing exhibits of art and archaeological objects. The historic Qalat Murair settlement lies nearby, along with an in-house museum at the al Zubara Fort. This UNESCO world heritage site is one of Qatar's oldest forts and a must-visit attraction for tourists.
Historic place where so many civilization events happened. Next to entrance there is a building where you can use washrooms and spend sometime. Not a pet friendly spot, so please don't take your pet's along with you. Pet's can stay in your vehicle.

Visit in the winters. It's not air conditioned and you will feel the real heat. Don't forget to watch the videos which will tell you more details on this area. There is a shuttle in the evening to the nearby heritage site. So plan accordingly. Try to visit the nearby forts by taking the coastal road to ruwais.

Secluded Fort, can be reached by a regular sedan car. Well renovated and well preserved. No need to buy tickets upfront, if you are a resident you can access for free which is great. Plenty of information is provided on the premises regarding thr history of the fort. It is not that old in history but packs a rich background. You need to visit this at least once.

It's a very amazing historical and archeological site in Qatar, getting there exceeded my expectations and thoughts since I only thought it was a fort that just had a small history but it is rich in history. It's a worthy place to visit and learn a lot about Qatar.

Made our way here from Doha, very easy to find and excellent information by Qatar Museum team on pearl diving and the history of Al Zubarah. We visited in August. So hot. No one was around. Would definitely go back in the off season.
Claire L — Google review
The fort feels like stepping into a clean slice of history. Simple, solid walls, open courtyards, and that quiet desert air that makes everything slow down. Walking through the rooms gives you a good sense of how life functioned here, with the sun carving sharp shadows across the stone.
