Nestled in a secluded Chilterns valley, National Trust - Greys Court is a historic 16th-century manor house with a rich history dating back over 9 centuries. Always a fantastic day out. Very knowledgeable volunteers. Gorgeous gardens, even though a been drooping from the heat this time around. Places to picnic and walk. A great little book nook. One of our favourite venues.
Katherine P — Google review
I really loved this site. It was so tranquil on an early Saturday morning. The estate walks are beautiful. The walled garden is amazing - one of the best I've seen and I've seen a lot of them. The wisteria must look stunning when in bloom. House is very pretty and someone was playing the piano and it really made the visit even more pleasant.
Z — Google review
A wonderful little place to spend the afternoon. The walk around the garden was lovely. Autumn blooms out in force. Not many people around so seemed peaceful. The house is compact but plenty to see and take in. Volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Biscuits that were cooked in the kitchen as we passed through were delicious. Shop and tea room were accessible and had standard NT fayre. The second hand bookshop was small but plenty of choice. All staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back here. Highly recommended.
Gary J — Google review
An interesting house and different to a number.of other houses we have been to. The rooms are more 20th century so an interesting insight into the family home and kitchen. The gardens were lovely, even though it is October but I will be back in Spring and summer when they will be at their best!
Ali R — Google review
A beautifully preserved National Trust property with a warm, lived-in feel. The interiors are charming and full of character — especially the kitchen and library. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. A peaceful spot for a slow afternoon, and the garden is lovely too. Highly recommended if you’re near Henley-on-Thames!
Harrison W — Google review
Wonderful house and Gardens. Rich history going back 1000 years, 1066 and the war. Lots of unusual plants and trees to see. Visit the green house and walled garden. There is a garden shop. Plenty of free car parking. Nice cafe with good selection of hot and cold food. Plenty of seating i door and outdoors.
Shailesh P — Google review
I have been to Greys Court before, visiting in May 2023. Like on my previous visit, inside I was reminded me of my grandparents’ houses and flats. Part of the reason was the furniture in the house was more 1960s and 1970s than the 19th Century. There is always that compromise between preservation, conservation and restoration. Some National Trust properties try to restore the house to what it was like in the 19th century, other times as with Greys Court they preserve what it was like when it was passed to the National Trust.
James C — Google review
Very peaceful and relaxing property with beautiful and interesting gardens and well presented 1930s furnished house. Knowledgeable volunteers were on hand and a pianist playing in the drawing room. It would have been good if there had been a kids activity trail but a good members experience nonetheless.

Wellington Country Park

Mentioned on
21 lists
Nature & Parks
Campground
Wellington Country Park, located in the serene Berkshire village of Riseley near Reading and Hampshire, offers a diverse range of activities for visitors. The park features safe play areas, nature trails, and a lakeside walk for both leisurely strolls and educational experiences.
I was in the area for business travel and decided to drop by to check out this park because my kids love dinosaurs and I seen they had a dinosaur area. I was not disappointed at all with the entire park. To enter the park you have to pay a fee.... It was about $25 US which is normal for most amusemant park like this one. They had great play structures/parks within the park that included wooden jungle gyms, metal slides and swings. Kids would have a blast climbing and running around! There is also this giant inflated balloon that kids can climb on and bounce on that is surrounded by sand in case a little one falls off. It stands about 5ft off the ground and the kids I seen were having a blast jumping and rolling off of it. There is a giant wooden ship which was pretty cool too. There is also a little feeding anima farm! In the middle of the park is a large lake. Lots of birds and I guess you can also fish there too. Seen a guy fishing for carp. Unsure if it's good fishing though buy hey, give it a try. There is a dirt path around that lake which brings you to the other side of the park where they have more play structures and the dinosaur exhibit area. There are approximately 20 fake dinosaurs along with a little informational piece about each one. If you have little ones, they could easily be scared because they have their teeth showing and don't don't look friendly but hey, that's a dinosaur for ya. They have sounds playing as you walk through to add to the experience which was cool. Definitely would take my kids. As you make your way around there is a splash pad for those hot days when the kids want to play in water along with another play park and slides next to it. There are also some hiking trails within the park as you first enter that I didn't get a chance to do but they say allow for an hour depending on which trail you decide to do. Cool park with cafes, sweet treats, and of course souvenirs to take home. Enjoy!

Wellington Country Park is a fantastic place for families! Everything is extremely clean and well-maintained, from the walking paths to the restrooms. The whole park is very well-organized, making it easy to navigate and enjoy a full day of activities. The campsite is especially impressive, peaceful, spacious, and surrounded by nature. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway. Facilities are spotless and the staff are always friendly and helpful. There’s so much to do for kids! The adventure playgrounds, splash zone, mini railway, and animal area kept our children entertained for hours. They didn’t want to leave! Highly recommended for families with young children, and the campsite makes it even better if you want to turn your visit into a short holiday. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Muzaffer B — Google review
We camped in the temporary holiday site over the bank holiday weekend and had an absolute blast in beautiful surroundings with friends. The children loved the splash park, sandpit play and all the playgrounds spotted around the park. Wellington is a brilliant sunny day activity with lots to keep children entertained. However, had we paid for our family of 3 to enter at full price, it would have been £75 and I don’t think it’s worth that price compared to similar attractions. They’re also missing a trick with food around the park too. The main cafe has some good (expensive) options, but if they elevated food with more choices in the other areas we’d have spent a lot more money rather than bringing our own food in that was the same as their offering.
Hannah M — Google review
The reason for only 2 stars is because of the price £25 per ticket, meant for a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 children the entry was £100!! I really don't know how the can justify that amount. Plus you have to pay extra for things inside the park. Food in the cafe was also HUGELY over priced for what it was The park itself is good, clean tidy, the kids loved the splash park, but I still can't get past the price, so unless the prices were dropped I really don't think it is value for money.
Chris B — Google review
The park and location are beautiful and couldn't ask for a better nature experience with the antler pens and feeding the animals at the animal farm, however, we stayed at the campsite and had 3 nights of an awful experience. The pitches we had - 53-54 - were close to the facilities which had florescent lighting on all night and the oldest, loudest hand dryer known to mankind be blasted all day and all night by all campers, creating a horrible sleeping experience
Jason S — Google review
Fantastic place for family day with kids. Many kids activities, good coffee, nice nature, professional and friendly staff.
Tibor K — Google review
We went to WCP yesterday (5th October) with some friends and children. It was absolutely fantastic. You can easily spend an entire day there and not get bored; there is so much to do/see. We particularly enjoyed the train ride and the gentleman that was driving the train was so friendly and great with the kids. It was really good value for the tickets as well - note we had off peak prices - not sure what full price like. Will definitely be back. Kids are age 3.
Riley R — Google review
Fantastic day out, our first time visiting for an event, Halloween to be specific, my nearly 2 year old daughter had an amazing time, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The grounds were beautifully decorated, with lots of Halloween props, and pumpkins everywhere which created such a magical vibe. Plenty to do, and the train driver was so full of enthusiasm and was very entertaining for the kids. The dinosaur exhibition section is fantastic, interactive sounds and great quality models ! We then did a walk around the lake, and enjoyed the quiet and tranquil surroundings. Highly recommend for anyone with kids, very entertaining, and we will return yearly for Halloween! My only criticism would be that there is not many places to be able to sit and eat, all tables are packed and hard to get. An additional outdoor covered area would be great.

Jane Austen's House

Mentioned on

Museum
Historical landmark
The Jane Austen House Museum is a well-maintained historic home where the renowned author spent her final eight years. Visitors can only view the interior on weekends from April onwards, but parking is readily available nearby. The house boasts a lovely exterior and features intricate details inside that offer an immersive glimpse into 19th-century English life. Its garden is replete with various flowers and plants, making it an excellent place to visit for those interested in history or horticulture.
As a dedicated fan of Jane Austen I have wanted to visit the Jane Austen house for quite some time. I was able to do so today and it was so wonderful. The staff are present to answer questions and are so helpful. They enjoy your own excitement. The home has been beautifully restored and includes so many items of Jane's. It was a joy to see the table where she wrote her novels. I leaned out the window that she probably leaned out of once upon a time. The grounds are lovely to explore as well. It was amazing to see first editions of all of her books!
April W — Google review
Make sure you purchase tickets in advance, because each tour will sell out. Although the docents had us enter in small groups, I wish they kept the crowd flow moving through each room, as it grew very crowded within the rooms themselves. The exhibits are interesting, and it was nice being able to sit in the garden.
Natalie N — Google review
I don’t know where to start- am feeling both exhilaration and emotional after visiting Jane Austen’s house earlier today. So to start, absolutely make a booking! We saw folks being turned away or having to comeback like two hours later as slots were booked! It’s a small house and a lot to see / read/ experience and so can understand why the House limits the number of folks that can enter within a twenty minute time slot. Parking is also a bit hard and off-street was our only option. We spent over 3 hours enjoying the various rooms and exhibitions, listen to the audio first and then step into the house. Kudos to the volunteers who help preserve this history. The gardens are lovely as is the opportunity to dress up in period costumes. I feel drunk on happiness to have had the opportunity to visit!
Kanchan B — Google review
It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a sensible traveller in possession of a free afternoon, must be in want of a visit to Jane Austen’s House. Whether one is drawn by the charm of literary devotion or merely in search of a respectable tea-room nearby, the cottage at Chawton cannot fail to supply both instruction and amusement. House and gardens, gift shop and toilets. Friendly and helpful volunteers working in the house. Dressing up optional. Tickets are limited so book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Nick — Google review
Much of how much you enjoy this museum will depend on your knowledge and appreciation of Jane Austen and her work but even as someone who has not read any of her novels I found the house to be an informative snapshot of her life and of the regency era in general and I commend the curators for their dedication to accurately depicting early 19th century life. Important things to note: the house (and therefore the museum) is small. The operators will only permit small groups (12 max) to enter in twenty minute slots. I highly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
F S — Google review
A must see for every Jane Austen fan. The house gives such a good impression of how she lived and little details (like the mousseline dresses on the line outside), make it seem as if she just popped out for an errand. After the visit you can sit in the lovely garden.

Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery

Winery
Food & Drink
Venue offering pre-booked tours of its brewery and winery, plus ale, wine and liqueur tastings.
I was kindly treated to two nights at Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery for my birthday. We stayed in the Pool House room, which is right by a pool, hot tub and sauna. These facilities are exclusively for the use of the pool House guests, so you can enjoy some privacy and don't get disturbed by other guests coming and going. The room is well appointed, with an ensuite bath/shower room, and views directly onto the vineyard catching the morning sun. Breakfast was included and done very well, with the option of a full English. The wine tour and tasting lasted about 2 hours, taking you on a tour of the vineyard and winery/brewery facilities, finished off with a tasting of some of their wines, beers and liqueurs. Very enjoyable indeed! They have a deal with a local pub for dinner, which includes a taxi ride there and back (about a 5-10 minute drive to Hambledon village). The menu was excellent and well worth it. We both cycle and enjoyed the excellent cycling in spectacular scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the winery and hope to go back at some point. It's a bit more to stay in the Pool House compared with the main house rooms, but worth it if you enjoy the facilities it offers.

We did the tour and tasting followed by an overnight stay. All of the staff we met were lovely. The grounds and buildings were very well kept. Victoria was a great tour/tasting guide and certainly knew her stuff. We sampled various wines, beers and liqueurs, along with some cheese and crackers to cleanse the pallet between tastings. The farmhouse breakfast was great too!

I recently proposed to my girlfriend at this stunning venue, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting or experience. From start to finish, everything was smooth, beautifully organized, and completely stress-free. Don, the venue owner, was an absolute pleasure to work with- professional, thoughtful, and clearly passionate about making special moments unforgettable. The coordination with our photographer and even the tour guide, Steve, was seamless. Everyone worked together behind the scenes to make the moment magical, and they absolutely delivered. Steve was fantastic, and his knowledge is amazing. The atmosphere was lovely, the setting was picture-perfect, and the entire team made sure everything went off without a hitch. Highly recommend this venue for any special occasion- it truly exceeded all expectations!

Just a note to say we had a fabulous time. Very, very informative, easy to understand and great fun. Having been in hospitality all my life I knew a little about the subject but I left knowing a whole lot more. A great couple of hours, the time flew by. I would recommend the tour to anyone!

We enjoyed the wine tour, better yet we got it half price. It's great to hear the history of the location as we didn't know much about the area before the arrived. Everything was enjoyable from start to finish. 10 stars for the Irish cream liqueur and Blood Orange Liqueur

What a beautiful venue and a very informative presentation and tour by your staff. Forgive me but I can't recall the South African guys name but he made it a very memorable visit with his knowledge and anecdotes. Unfortunately i couldn't fully take part in the tasting session at the end because of having to drive home but plenty of great wines and beers to buy at the end. Happy to support a small but very professional and enterprising business.I would recommend anyone with an interest in wine making and brewing to pay them a visit. A truly memorable visit. Thank you

We had a fantastic afternoon tour yesterday. The chap taking us round was very knowledgeable, the setting was absolutely stunning, and the samples included lovely. We will definitely be returning to spend some time at the bar, and trying the delicious looking food. Many thanks for such a great time.

Just spent the afternoon at this venue with a tour being provided by one of the sommeliers. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the estate, the business and wine and beer making. He then led us expertly through a tasting of three wines, three beers and a liqueur. We then sat in the beautiful courtyard and enjoyed a glass of wine. Recommend a trip to this venue.

The Heath Pond at the Alltrails app is a captivating trail that offers a delightful experience on a sunny Saturday. With its scenic views and bird islands, it provides an ideal setting for nature enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of the surroundings. The loop around the pond, which is less than one mile, can be extended by doing multiple loops. Additionally, visitors can enjoy observing ducks, swans, and various bird species while indulging in activities like canoeing and photography.
I absolutely love it here, especially if you get to catch a sunrise or sunset.

Pleasant place to either walk round the lake (there's a hard surface making it easy for pushchairs). The free car park is right next to the pond.

I have noticed this trail on Alltrails app and wanted to discover on a sunny Saturday. It is nice to loop around the Heath Pond, as it is under a mile better to do minimum two loops. Lots of ducks 🦆, swans 🦢, birds 🐦 about the place, also nice for canoeing 🛶 and photography 📸. Scenic views with bird islands in the middle. Highly recommended for nature lovers. 🌳 🌊

The pond is easy to get to with its own car park. Can get very busy by the cafe and play parks in summer months. Toilets situated by cafe. Its about 10 min walk to town. Well worth a visit.

Going to Petersfield without visiting the pond is just out of the question. A wonderful place to walk...sit and tire out the kids. The cafe sells duck feed and the bags are very generous. You can go on a picnic or rent a pedalow. It has a playpark as well and really good for dog walkers. Rubbish penalties are very strict here so do not leave any rubbish out or you may face a hefty fine. There are heaps of waterfowl in various shapes and colours. Going during hatching season is a must to see all the babies.

Birdworld, located in Farnham GU10 4LD, is a sprawling 26-acre park that houses a diverse range of birds from penguins to parrots and owls to ostriches. Visitors can enjoy daily events such as penguin feeding and animal encounters, as well as take a ride on the safari train. The park features attractions like the Outback Landing aviary, Owl Parliament, and Jenny Wren Farm where visitors can meet and stroke animals.
We used the Hampshire Top Attraction website to get discounted entry. It's a lovely clean attraction with a couple of cafes serving a variety of food and drink. We bought a picnic with us and there were plenty of places to stop and eat at picnic benches in the sun and shade. We didn't walk around until after lunch as our children enjoyed the new tree top adventure park so much. Even though we have young children the tree top adventure was safe for them and mostly big enough for us adults to climb up and walk upright with them, adults are also able to fit on the slides and we weren't the only ones having a go!! The birds are well cared for and we wandered around slowly, our children enjoyed looking into the exhibits and trying to find the different birds. They absolutely loved the exhibits where the birds were free roaming and flying around our heads. All in all it was a slow paced, relaxed day out enjoyed by all.

Nice selection of birds, so many pretty varieties that we had never seen before. The parrots and cockatoos were entertaining with their chatter and whistles. There are a couple of walk-through areas where you can get up close to the birds. The main cafe area at the entrance is nice with outdoor seating overlooking the gardens. There is another cafe/kiosk, but this was closed when we visited. They are building a new play area which looks like it's going to be quite large. We spent around 3 hours there slowly walking around. For the kids, there is a dinosaur trail. The car park is large and free. Toilets and baby change areas were clean. There is quite a large gift shop. We had a nice half day wandering around.

Larger than expected but very interesting. There are all sorts of birds and plenty to see. For those with children, there are plenty of play bits for them to play and for those without there are benches where you can sit and watch the birds. The park is accessible for wheelchair users. Visually impaired folk will definitely benefit from taking a sighted guide.
Erica ( — Google review
Good place to visit after the upgrade made for kids but could have also added play center for toddler separately. The dinosaurs were good additions. Food-wise need to have more options and for the entry price paid the experience is bit on lower end with the birds. The bird world itself has not been updated fully and they seem old n neglected. Finally the parking facilities are lacking with very small spaces considering most visitors are with toddlers and kids and are of low quality.

I am disabled and cannot walk. Please see the end of the review for the only problem i had. Visited today with my wife daughter and her husband and two granddaughter's. We had a great time loads to see and do the birds are great and well displayed. The granddaughter's loved the play areas. All the staff are great. Helpfull, polite and a credit to bitdworld. on the whole it was easy to get round on a mobility class 3 mobility scooter. I have only one complaint and that there was a problem and that is with the disabled toilets it may not sound much but if you are like me on A Class 3 mobility scooter and cannot walk at all it is impossible sitting on one of those scooters and opening a door towards you. I do wish the people who designed these toilets would actually try to get in there whilst at on a large mobility scooter. It takes away your independence completely when you can't even open the door to get in. To pull a door open and hold it open while you driving is completely impossible. I really really wish that somebody would actually try it to see what I mean. Is bad enough being stuck on one of those things without having to ask a complete stranger to hold the door open for you. Please would one of your staff get hold of one of those scooters and try it.

New park is amazing. The kids loved the activity sheet and the dinosaur trail. Can't wait for the new play barn. Food was fresh and good. Only down side, they do not have a changing table for disabled guests, but we were told we could use the first aid one.

A popular day out for us or even a quick stop after nursery to run off extra energy. We invested in the membership this year and have visited Birdworld very regularly to explore every nook and cranny it has to offer. The bonus features of the dinosaur trail, bird bath and adventure play have been a treat too. There are so many beautiful birds and really helpful information about them to learn and raise awareness of endangered species, as well as regular talks from the team who present it so well. The birds are well looked after and the park is so pretty with greenery, flowers, water features, bird photography and beautiful interactive displays of information. There is lots to do for all ages. The paths are wheelchair and buggy accessible and plenty of loo facilities around the park. Lots of parking space and the check-in process is simple and quick even on busy days. Even when the park is busy it doesn’t feel crowded as there’s lots of space to run around, and benches to sit on.
Jenny B — Google review
Perfect for all. Not too long to walk around (you could probably rush it in half hour) took us a couple of hours to see everything, but there's plenty of extra play areas and games to keep kids entertained. Special experiences like feeding the penguins are extra, but well worth it.

Outdoor Activities
West Wittering Beach is a picturesque sandy beach located in West Sussex, England. It sits at the mouth of Chichester Harbour, offering stunning views of the Isle of Wight and Hayling Island. The gently sloping sands make it perfect for leisurely walks and admiring the Sussex coast. This dog-friendly beach also features grassy picnic areas, a cafe, and a wind- and kitesurfing club for water sports enthusiasts.
Love this beach. If you can time it at low tide there are miles of sandy beach with little pools to paddle in. You can save money by pre booking parking the day before ( pre 11pm I think) . Then a short walk to the beach. If you turn left towards east wittering ( about 1.5 miles I think) there is a lovely walk and dunes. If you turn right there are cafes and food…but restrictions over dogs on beach in front of the huts. The day we were there there were a big group of kids doing litter picking and the beach was beautiful
Dave K — Google review
Good place to visit with kids to play with sand and make castles. Easy to swim and we enjoyed a lot. Good time to visit after 12pm and when it is becoming late the water flow will go return. If you are going in the weekend book parking slot in advance
Chandrasekhar R — Google review
A vast sandy beach with its own sand dunes and backed by brackish water lagoons. The payment to park is very good value for an all day stay and avoids all the queues of speculative parkers in the past. Good toilets and restaurants to suit all tastes and pocket. Children will enjoy the dunes and the intertidal pools along the beach. A very shallow swimming beach at high tide, and exposed so a very windy venue for kite surfers. You can walk to East Wittering along the high water mark and admire all the houses. Or walk clockwise round the coast and get views up to Portsdown Hill and the chalk quarry face North of Portsmouth island. Villages, churches more restaurants and boat marinas and clubs to discover on your walk.
Nigel H — Google review
As beaches go, West Wittering is definitely one of the most notable. When the tide pulls away (and it really does pull away), it allows for a refreshing dip into the clear water on a balmy day, but when the tide begins to roll in, it comes in hot - it's why the lifeguards are always alert and warn beach goers to not swim too far out, lest they be dragged out beyond the reaches of the shore. The sand at West Wittering is of the powder soft variety and allows for great picnic opportunities - if you can withstand the menacing seagulls that engulf you the moment you take any food out. Parking spaces are aplenty and the toilet facilities are decent, too. On a scorching Summer day, this beach is absolutely ideal for the sand, sun, sea and relaxation. You can't go far wrong here.
Sadek M — Google review
Incredible beach, silky sand, safe for children as you can walk almost a mile out to sea and it’s knee deep especially at low tide. Great for canoeing and sup boards Note that traffic can be crazy to get in if the weather is great so leave early and be prepared to leave late. Pack a picnic as not much around in forms of shops as it’s really remote with ample parking. We paid £15.75 on way out. The have registration tracking as you come in so easy to pay via QR code etc Beach feels endless and lots of space to create your own spot like we did for the children and our dog with a bit a bit of shade from a pop up tent
Machael L — Google review
This is a very popular beach among many British beaches. It is not only very large but also has very fine sand. Even if you walk on it barefoot, you will not feel any discomfort. If you like to go in the water, you can come here to have a good time during the heat wave. But even if you don’t like swimming, walking barefoot on this beach is also a very good holiday program. Many families and couples will bring their equipment to enjoy a wonderful afternoon.
Zen C — Google review
The best word to describe this beach is HECTIC. Without knowing what a weekday visit would be like, dare to visit on a sunny weekend day, you’ll queue for 1hr+ as you approach the beach, parking staff are great but the experience felt more like we were visiting a festival, not a beach. The tides, water levels and sandy stretches are great for kids, but this is a family beach as much as it is a beach aimed at large groups and their bbq’s, alcohol and speakers. If your vibe is “party” then this is the beach for you, if you’re looking for a quieter more leisurely experience with your little ones, this will be sensory overload. We struggled to find a spot to sit, the entire beach was ram packed with bewildered elderly couples, families of 10+ that brought their entire kitchen (very impressive!), young teens and their cheeky antics, to friends and their private disco with countless bottles of rum, as I said - hectic. Finally, as if the 3hr plus journey for 2 hours on the beach wasn’t enough, you’ll queue for another 1hr+ to get out. Safe to say we won’t be returning. A few positives are that there are lifeguards, food and ice cream facilities, showers and toilets.
Josephine W — Google review
Fantastic beach that’s sandy and perfect for making sandcastles. Sea glass and shells have also been found by us! The lifeguards are attentive and communicate clearly how to stay safe in the water. The cafe serves great fish and chips. Book the carpark the night before you leave 👍🏼

Nature & Parks
The Sculpture Park is an outdoor exhibit located in Farnham that offers a unique blend of art and nature. It spans across 10 acres of arboretum and features over 650 sculptures, with meandering footpaths leading visitors through the picturesque wildlife water garden. The exhibits are arranged into four coloured trails, which wind around trees and lakes for approximately 2/3km.
Fabulous experience, great park, give it a bit of time as you've got 3 trails to follow, you'll see sculptures everywhere, non stop, every step you do there is another one, and another one, and so on😊. There is also one path, shorter, for the wheelchair people which they can enjoy also. The cost per adult is £15 but it's worth it, and to visit everything you need 3hrs+. Check pictures and videos, thanks😊. One more thing, I've asked and , apparently, they said that every single sculpture is for sale (not cheap 😁) but it's a great idea, you've got QR code for every single one to find out more details about it / them. There are plenty of cars park around, a pub/restaurant, restrooms as well.
Florin S — Google review
Amazing... It's amazing. So many sculptures set in glorious woods. Very accessible for wheelchair users and plenty to see even though there are areas accessed via steps, it did not feel that the wheelchair user had missed out. Great to be able to take the dog. Great to have full access to QR codes to learn more about the sculptures and their price No food/drink on site, ending the visit with a team /coffee would have made the trip perfect!

When i started the walk around the park I was a little overwhelmed by the number and various sculptures. However as you get into it the meandering path goes through many hidden spaces revealing the hundreds of works of art there. Some have been there for 23 years since it opened and have blended into the environment whilst others are strikingly new and shiny contrasting with the autumnal tones of the forest. If you want to do this properly and allow some time to watch and think I'd suggest you allow 3 hours but you can see all of it in about 2

An unexpected gem! Loved our Saturday afternoon stroll in this fabulous sculpture park! My camera roll is filled with incredible sculptures - I would have taken home all of them if I could! The only point I would say is that the park is (or feels) larger than it is, so you should probably wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for the 2-mile walk around. The placement of the sculptures is brilliant, too - very enjoyable experience!
Einav A — Google review
Wow there are some lovely sculptures at the park. Some very large and some small but all so incredible none the less. The only negative I have to say is it’s not very pushchair friendly (other than the disabled route) and my 2.5 year old found it a little boring.
Olivia S — Google review
There are many things I love about the Sculpture Park, but most of all, it’s the fact that it is constantly evolving. Every time we visit, there is something new—whether in the layout or the display. One thing that never changes is the warm welcome we receive; we are always greeted with a smile, and the staff make us feel really welcome. The sculptures are a versatile collection—diverse in material, style, and texture. There is something for everyone, beautifully displayed in lovely natural settings. Our most recent visit was for the event Spirit in Stone - celebrating Zimbabwean craftsmanship. Everything was well-organised - with drinks, catering, gentle live music, and lovely, attentive staff. The artworks were stunning and displayed wonderfully. Happy to hear that such events will be organised again, and we will gladly attend again. In the meantime, the park is well worth a visit—an inspiring place to enjoy nature, art, and beauty.

Fishbourne Roman Palace

Archaeological museum
Fishbourne Roman Palace and Gardens in Chichester is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. It is the largest residential Roman building found in Britain, featuring an impressive collection of in situ mosaics dating back to around AD 75-80. The palace also boasts recreated Roman-style gardens with authentic plants from the Roman period. Visitors can explore the vast excavated villa, marvel at the floor mosaics, and participate in learning workshops.
This was a great glimpse into Roman History. The museum gives an interesting timeline, with many artefacts. The mosaics are amazing and you can see them in situ quite close up from walkways. Incredibly what you see is only a fraction of the Palace. The gardens are lovely and there is parking and a decent cafe.
Debbie M — Google review
Amazing place! First you walk through a small museum with the information boards and the artefacts displayed. Then you follow a walkway to admire the mosaics. After that there's the garden with information boards about the palace that dominated this place 2000 years ago. Just fascinating!
Patricia S — Google review
Must see place if you are interested in roman Britain. Big collection of the artefacts and lots of floor mosaic to enjoy. The museum itself is not dog friendly, but if you take turns, you can spend time in the gardens.
Gr3at W — Google review
Visiting the Roman Palace at Fishbourne was a truly wonderful experience. The site is perfectly maintained, and the reconstruction of the gardens is beautiful, created in line with what is known about Roman culture and society. However, what impressed me the most were the mosaics inside. They are preserved in a remarkable way and offer a fascinating and varied insight into Roman artistic culture and the use of mosaic decoration. The archaeologists have done an outstanding job in replicating what life must have been like at the time, making this place an authentic and captivating journey into the past. Absolutely worth visiting.
Laura B — Google review
My brain wasn't ready for the astonishing existence of this place and the profound secrets that it holds. It is literally mind altering to see it and read the information so excellently provided, and, as we did, to meet an eminent architect who happened to be working as a volunteer that day, who allowed us to handle artifacts that were handled by Romans 2,000 years ago! The incalculable scope and importance of this ancient site, which was only uncovered in the mid-1960s, has left me reeling. I can't stop thinking about the courage, ambition, brilliance, discernment, and audacity of the Roman conquerors of the first century, (and wondering what has become of us as a species since then.) Don't miss it!

Updated 20250626 Another lovely day here. Again a fabulous informative really by a staff member (didn't catch her name sorry) with much embarrassment when I identified an amphora handle as a knee joint. Hohum. Also lovely to talk to the conservator who had just finished fixing a delightful little jet hair pin. Just wonderful to spend time with people who love their jobs. Calm informative and peaceful this place. Informative boards in the museum, lovely to walk over the various hypocausts and mosaics. As a school trip we were entertained and educated by Tom whose encyclopaediac knowledge of Roman clothes and armour brought the artifacts to life. Some of the signs are a bit tired hence the four stars, so folks get yourself down there to give more money to this place so they can update the boards. Little cafe is lovely, doing ice cream and very good coffee. I mean VERY good coffee.
G H — Google review
Absolutely incredible to see 2000 year old mosaics! The staff are so passionate about the experience and the purpose of the museum. I felt so welcome. Yes, the interpretation is a little dated but most people don’t realise how expensive it is to refresh. Balanced against the overall costs that the organisation must face in conservation, buildings maintenance and staff pay, they are really doing the best they possibly can. I would go every week to support them if I could. I booked online, and opted to gift aid my ticket. On arrival the lovely lady told me that this meant my ticket was now an annual ticket.

Great place for the UK if you want to see some real roman finds. Well presented little museum, but the star is the hall built over the roman palace, with some noteworthy mosaics and informative panels to understand more about the original building. Decent cafe and shop on site too.

Chichester Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, is a Norman edifice located in Chichester. It offers Church of England services and features a stunning Marc Chagall window. The cathedral is renowned for its grand scale, with local lore suggesting that all 23,000 citizens of Chichester could fit within its walls simultaneously. Visitors can enjoy free guided tours and explore the on-site cafe and gift shop.
Beautiful and interesting! Very friendly staff and one of the less Cathedrals were you don't have to pay exorbitant entry prices. Donations are welcomed, totally fair!!!

Chichester Cathedral – Timeless and Tranquil Chichester Cathedral is a stunning blend of Norman and Gothic architecture, with soaring arches, intricate stonework, and a peaceful atmosphere that invites reflection. Entry is free, though donations are welcome, and the space feels both sacred and accessible. Highlights include the Marc Chagall stained glass window, Roman mosaics beneath the floor, and the tomb that inspired Philip Larkin’s poem An Arundel Tomb. The free-standing medieval bell tower is a rare feature, and the guided tours are well worth joining for deeper insight. Whether you're drawn by history, art, or quiet contemplation, it’s a beautiful stop in the heart of the city — dignified, welcoming, and full of quiet surprises.

Wonderful gothic style cathedral. Many modern pieces are to be found inside from the last century which allows for a good balance of new and old. Entrance is free but a donation is suggested plus you can also purchase a range of gifts from the Cathedral shop.

Beautiful piece of architecture. It's dog friendly, and entrance is free unless you want to donate towards the cathedral upkeep. Cannot visit Chichester and miss this gem.
Gr3at W — Google review
I've visited the Cathedral for Choral services over the years, but today I had the opportunity to just wander around at my own pace and actually notice things I hadn't noticed before. Although not a large Cathedral, Chichester is still impressive. Highlights include historic artwork and tapestries and Marc Chagall's stained glass window. There is a section of flooring showing Roman mosaics. The bell tower stands separately to the Cathedral, which I think may be unique The grounds are beautiful and there is a stall with cameras monitoring the progress of the resident falcons and their chicks.

Simply magnificent. The building stands majestically in the centre of the town. Absolutely dominating the landscape. We felt drawn in whilst not being regular church goers this was akin to an evangelical experience. All my senses were heightened and I felt there was a higher spirit guiding me. LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort is a playful property that offers thrill rides, Lego statues, and themed rooms. It also provides free Wi-Fi and breakfast for guests. Great day out. Arrived when it opened and left at 5:45 children were 6 and 3. It was busy but from talking to others not as busy as school holidays. Smaller rides the wait was short which worked for us. Took the older one on 3 that that the other couldn't go on too. Went on enough to say it was worth it. My only criticism is there is no sense of pace with the staff. Could have moved the que a little faster if they were more enthusiastic. This is not a reflection on all the rides it was just on a few. Model village was fascinating for the kids with lots of moving parts. Once rides were over we spent at least half an hour there, could have spent longer. Took a packed lunch with us but plenty on food places. Would go back when my youngest is able to get on more rides.

We visited Legoland on a Sunday afternoon and stayed in one of the woodland lodges before a full day in the park. The process of booking the stay was fairly convoluted on the website, but from that point, there were clear instructions and links for all our passes, which were very handy to have on the official app! Sunday in the park was manic and not at all quiet, with 40 min queues for all the main rides (including the underwhelming Dragon rollercoaster). Flight of the sky lion is a great ride, but please sort the queue system out for people with the fast access pass (some of which have paid extra). We waited longer in this queue than people were in the standard entry! I don't think the clearly hungover lad running it could cope with figuring out what to do. The site is quite sprawling and despite there being a train that runs from the entrance into the middle of the park, it isn't always in operation, so prepare for the walk back up the winding hill! Food offerings are standard over-priced fried theme park fare unfortunately, with little imagination in the variety on offer. Breakfast at the woodland lodge clubhouse was fairly decent on the other hand. Our lodge was clean and spacious, with the skylight projector in the kids room being a nice touch. The treasure hunt also went down a treat. You might want to take earplugs though, as the Heathrow flight path is directly above, so sleep was fairly limited to the hours of 11pm -5am. It could be so much better in places, but overall it was still an enjoyable outing that was worth checking out.

Great theme park, I enjoyed the rides, we didn’t wait to wait too long to get onto the rides and there was 2 that we did a couple of times. Kids loved it. The Lego mini land was great, loads to see and a lot of detail gone into it. Food was expensive but always is at these places. We’d happily return!

very nice amusement park for the kids we spent all day there just walking around and think we only went on 1 ride as others where long waiting ques and that doesn't work with little ones. there is plenty of play parks and other things you can enjoy , espically walking around the model areas
Fergie — Google review
I’m in love with the Lego village, it’s so beautiful and full of detail. The miniatures are perfect, and the little surprises with the moving parts are such a clever, well-thought-out touch. The rides are great too, and I definitely recommend the Haunted House. The main store has fair prices, which honestly surprised me. Overall, the park is a fantastic way to spend a day, you can experience a lot in just one visit since the queues are relatively short (the longest wait was around 60 minutes), especially compared to other similar parks.
Háron S — Google review
We went to Legoland Windsor in the school holidays and… wow, the queues. I expected it to be busy, but spending 45 minutes to well over an hour for most rides was draining. It felt like we spent more time in line than actually doing anything. The kids were still excited, but by the end even they were fed up of standing around. Food was another gripe – small portions, average quality, and very expensive. It’s very much “theme park prices,” and it adds up quickly. And on top of that, you’re hit with a £12 parking charge, which feels cheeky when tickets are already pricey. That said, the free water refill stations were a nice touch and saved us from constantly buying drinks. On the positive side, the park itself is clean, colourful, and full of charming Lego details that really do impress. Staff were friendly and helpful too. But honestly, if you’re visiting in peak times, go in knowing you’ll need a lot of patience, a lot of cash, and a plan to make the most of it.
Jerin C — Google review
Visited Legoland with my two kids (1 and 4 years old) and we had a really good day out. Went during school time so there were hardly any queues, which was great! The park was clean and tidy with plenty to see and do to fill the day. Not much for the 1-year-old, but our 4-year-old loved it and went on lots of rides. Overall a fun family day out and would definitely go again when they’re a bit older.

Had a really good time with my 2 daughters. They both enjoyed the experience. Seeing how much stuff was built out of bricks was awesome. Some really good rides. Had to queue a bit but expected on a busy day. Would definitely recommend and 100% come back again

The Theatre Royal Windsor, located just a stone's throw from the grand Windsor Castle, offers a diverse range of shows including live music acts, dramatic theater performances, and screenings at its Picturehouse cinema. The theater itself has a rich 200-year-old history dating back to the time of King George II and features opulent decor with lush red velvet seats, high ceilings, and a vast crystal chandelier.
A great evening watching Joe Pasquale and Brian Conley. The seats in the upper circle are very steeply banked, so beware if you're not good with heights. The seats are also small and a snug fit so not much legroom or either side of you. Great venue though and polite staff!

Amazing!!! Went to see The Lightning Thief- Percy Jackson!! Wow! All the performers were spot on! 100% recommend if you get a chance to watch. Songs were catchy, stage design was great, jokes were just right! Well done to all.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing the Michael Jackson tribute starring Ben at the Theatre Royal Windsor, and it was amazing. From start to finish, the energy was electric and the performance thoroughly entertaining. 🎤 Ben truly captured the essence of Michael Jackson – his voice, moves, and charisma were spot on bringing every song to life. The costumes were stunning and added that extra sparkle to the whole experience. 💡 The stage lights are extremely bright, so if you're sensitive to lighting, you might want to bring sunglasses or sit a bit further back. 🪑 Seating-wise, the chairs are quite snug. If you're on the larger side, I’d recommend booking an “end” seat for a bit more comfort with leg room. That said, the view was really good. 🏰 The location couldn’t be better – right opposite Windsor Castle and surrounded by lovely restaurants, making it perfect for a pre-show dinner or post-show drinks. Parking and the train station is conveniently just around the corner, which made the whole evening stress-free. 👋 The staff could of perhaps provided a more friendly and welcoming experience to the venue. If you're a fan of MJ or just love a good night out, this tribute show is a must-see. Whilst he doesn’t look like MJ if I closed my eyes he did an amazing job at sounding like him 🎶

Amazing staff, they made us so welcome this lunchtime for the Fireman Sam show. What a lovely little theatre, well equipped to cater for little ones with booster seats and helping direct everyone to their seats. They seemed to enjoy the show just as much as the kids too! Thanks again for making it a wonderful experience

This was my first time visiting this venue and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a lovely little theatre with a welcoming feel. The bar area is a good size and I really liked that there were tables and chairs available, rather than having to stand as you often do in many London theatres. Parking was easy, we used Windsor and Eton station car park which is less than a five-minute walk away, making it very convenient. Overall, a great venue and I’d be happy to return.

Lovely theatre, unfortunately the show we saw, sherlock Holmes, lacked pace, script was obscure and characterisation lacking except for the guy who played lestrad. Really disappointed. The guy next to me fell asleep 4 times.

We enjoyed the production today of Doubting Thomas on this week. An unusual “who dunnit” hinging on dementia, family issues and longstanding relationships. The acting was good (I’m not a drama fanatic but it’s my opinion) and some twists added to surprises. A few laughs too. I’ve been to the theatre before and it has character and charm. But I enjoyed the storyline very much. Worth a visit. We asked for and got pensioner rates. Sat at the back but that was fine.

Chapel
Sights & Landmarks
St George's Chapel, located within the grounds of Windsor Castle, is a stunning example of late medieval Perpendicular Gothic architecture. Founded in the 14th century by King Edward III and expanded in the late 15th century, it has been an integral part of royal history for centuries. As a place of worship, it hosts multiple services daily and is open to visitors, except on Sundays.
Magnificent chapel with a Gothic architectural grandeur more typical of a fine cathedral, situated within the grounds of Windsor Castle. One of the highlights of the castle visit, the chapel's interior is as impressive as its exterior, with stunning ceilings, soaring arches and ornate oriel windows. Unfortunately photography is not permitted inside, but this helps keep visitors flowing through to avoid crowding. A number of memorials reside within the chapel, with 10 former royals laid to rest inside. The digital audio guide covers the chapel in detail and helps enhance the visitor experience. The chapel opening times are more restricted than the rest of the castle grounds, so it's worth checking the website before visiting to avoid disappointment.

I came to Salisbury for the cathedral but fell in love with this chapel. I sat down for the last of the service one evening and they were kind to allow me to take a look before closing. I returned the next two days to just sit and enjoy. Highly recommend!!

Visiting Windsor Castle and St. George's Chapel on the grounds was beautiful. It was a lovely day and many visitors. The visitors were happy and friendly.

Highly recommended! St George's Chapel is a Gothic chapel located in the lower bailey of Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England. Windsor, the most important castle in England, is the primary residence of the monarch. The castle chapel is under the direct jurisdiction of the monarch and is the seat of the Congregation of the Order of the Garter. The castle chapel was founded in the 14th century by King Edward III and significantly expanded in the late 15th century. It is the site of many royal church services, weddings and funerals. If you bought a ticket to visit Windsor Castle, the chapel is included in the ticket price. You can also buy a separate ticket for much cheaper if you do not plan to visit the castle. A castle + chapel ticket costs 35 pounds, a ticket only for the chapel is about 7 pounds. Information accurate as of June 2025. P.S. I try to share specific information. If the review was useful, put 👍. I don't get any "goodies", but other tourists will see this review first. Have a good mood and exciting travels!🌍☀️🪂

A nice chapel, very informative details shared on the headphone guide set. I also saw the memorial where Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh was buried and also the main church where there were previous royal weddings and funerals. Sadly can't take pictures of inside the chapel.

The chapel in Kings college is amazing, but not quite worth 20+ pounds.
Yaohang L — Google review
Within the grounds of Windsor Castle and a bit of a misnomer.... chapel, it's more like a cathedral. Epic historical building. No photography allowed inside. Built in the late medieval perpendicular Gothic style. Founded in the 14th century. Definitely worth going to see if you like architecture as the interior is magnificent and awesome.

All I can say is amazing the evening song this a must even if you are not religious go and see it takes your breath away

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Windsor Castle, located in the royal borough of Windsor, is the oldest and largest inhabited castle globally. It has served as the family home for British monarchs for nearly a millennium and is currently an official residence of Her Majesty The Queen. The castle features spectacular art, antiques, and a chapel within its grounds.
A Breathtaking Journey Through History My visit to Windsor Castle was an absolutely unforgettable experience. It is not just a castle; it is a living monument to British history and royalty, and it truly deserves its reputation. The castle itself is magnificently grand and imposing, set against beautifully manicured lawns and pristine gardens. The contrast between the sturdy, historic stone walls and the flawless green landscaping is strikingly beautiful. Inside, the arrangement of the State Apartments is both logical and fascinating. Each room flows into the next, revealing its unique function, from grand halls for ceremonies to more intimate living quarters. They are beautifully preserved and offer a genuine sense of how the palace operated. Furthermore, the furnishings are not merely decorative; they are functional pieces of art. The vast and diverse collections are utterly precious. I was particularly captivated by the extensive array of portraits of royal members. These paintings, varying in size, are so vividly lifelike that they seem to breathe, telling the story of the monarchy across the centuries. The entire visit was an eye-opening and dazzling spectacle. It leaves one in deep awe of the British Royal Family's centuries of influence, global history, and their immense accumulation of cultural and artistic treasures. It was, without a doubt, a trip that was worth taking in every sense.

First time visiting and was blown away at the history and beauty of the Castle, the church and grounds. The town is charming as well. This is a must see, easy trip via overland train from London. Get the audio tour headsets as it’s included and will make the experience worthwhile.

I went las Saturday to see the change of guards, it is amazing!!! It it important to wait for them (10:50 am approx) if you arrive early, otherwise you won’t have time or the best location to see them. The exhibition is quite amazing, and unbelievable!
Andy A — Google review
Its an english castle. Well kept. I Its slightly less for value of money. Would advice to buy tickets in advance as that will save money. If you are visiting multiple castles throughout UK, kindly buy a pass for them as that will be cheaper rather than buying tickets at every castle. No pictures allowed inside.

Over the past 40 years that I have been coming to London, I somehow avoided Windsor Castle for no reason except that there were other things to do but on this trip I am glad to say that I finally visited it and I was not disappointed. I especially was fond of the chapel. I’m not religious whatsoever, but the burial chamber of the Queen was worth seeing. The crest room as seen in one of these photos fascinated me. The tour guides and Museum staff were helpful and knowledgeable.

What a beautiful castle. The tour is well planned and if you love the monarchy and the queen/king things you will be blown away by this gorgeous place. Just don’t forget to book tickets in advance, take the audio guide with you and enjoy a little touch to royal family’s life.

The Windsor Castle and Town are a must to visit! An authentic place with it's atmosphere and history. While visiting the castle you get the audio guide and it is really easy to walk, listen and admire. We spent here about 4h to visit each and every chamber and exhibition. Great experience!

National Trust - Petworth House and Park

Park
National Trust - Petworth House and Park is a grand 17th-century mansion set in a sprawling 700-acre deer park, famously depicted in J.M.W. Turner's paintings. The estate has a rich history involving royalty, religious upheavals, and influential figures like Capability Brown. Visitors can explore the mansion on guided tours, with the North Gallery showcasing remarkable paintings and sculptures. Alternatively, they can freely wander through the extensive grounds or observe the fallow deer in the Deer Park.
A very interesting property, the exterior is not much to shout about, looks more like a prison block however the interior is quite amazing with highly painted walls and ceilings by famous artists. The hanging art collections are a joy to view and the staff were very informative and helpful. Also visited the Turner vision exhibition which was a little disappointing. Overall a very pleasant day out but more for adults rather than children.

One of the best Trust houses we have visited. Great art works everywhere in the huge rooms. It was nice to have some seating to relax and enjoy. The grounds are well kept making it a pleasant walk from the car parking area. Seats in the cafe were limited during the rain showers, as one would expect.
Roger C — Google review
Another National Trust gem! Had a wonderful day there. So much to see and wonderful walks in the grounds and deer park. The art collection is outstanding and as usual the volunteers in the house were great. Had an interesting talk in the square dining room about the history of the family. Found the kitchens fascinating!Great cafe too. Highly recommend.

Visiting Petworth House is a great way to spend a few hours. Impressive artwork, including many Turner paintings, sculptures, a Chapel, a deer park, servants quarters, well kept gardens and a cafe with plenty of seating. I found the Main House interesting, and the furnishings gave an idea of how life may have been, but I always like visiting the servants quarters, as they give me more of a feel for the character of the House. The Guides were very informative and came up with interesting facts which added to the experience. The House is about a ten minutes walk from Reception, with a slight incline in places. There is a large car park which was showing as "full" when I arrived, but I, and the cars following behind, managed to find a space.
Debbie M — Google review
Petworth is a NT place with huge grounds and a large house. The ground are beautiful and lead down to a lake from the house. The ground here can be quite boggy, even in good weather so be wearing suitable footwear. The house itself is large and you can walk round a lot of it but because the family still inhabit it, a lot of it is still private. They do open up certain extra spaces at points so worth checking out, for example in Oct some of the upstairs is open. Opposite the house are the servants quarters which have been turned into some viewing space alongside a bookshop and cafe. Also there are toilets in here, the only other toilets are before the entrance. There are NT volunteers around the house and they were all very friendly and helpful. The house is quite a walk from the car park however so you will need to be able to walk a distance or use one of the wheelchairs you can borrow (probably best to try and book one). The gardens are spacious and varied from the open space down to the lake by the house to the woodland and dogs on leads can be walked here (not in the house). Definitely worth a visit, in the colder months probably and hour or twos visit but in summer we have spent several hours here exploring the grounds and having a picnic etc.
Susie D — Google review
My first National Trust to visit and this place did not disappoint. Very lovely art displays inside, interesting history, good restaurant, friendly staff. There’s a super big walk outside the actual property which we also did, a lot of deer around the area which was lovely to see. Lake area also beautiful. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a nice summer activity.

A truly wonderful day trip to the picturesque village of Petworth allowed us to stroll through its cobbled streets, full of charming cafés and many art galleries displaying antiques and beautiful pieces of art. There’s a convenient parking area and a spacious café within the Petworth House grounds — a perfect place to take a break and look over the map provided at reception. The interior architecture and the abundance of artworks take you back in time, while the gardens outside are stunning and beautifully maintained, offering a heavenly atmosphere in every season. Definitely worth a visit — take your time and enjoy every minute!

RHS Garden Wisley, located in Wisley Lane, Woking GU23 6QB, spans over 200 acres and boasts a diverse collection of more than 25,000 plant species. Visitors can explore the famous Borders with its lush foliage and fragrant flowers or marvel at The Glasshouse, which houses a world-class collection of rare and endangered plants within its expansive space.
We attended an evening “walkies at Wisley” earlier in the week. What an amazing event. Beautiful gardens open to well behaved dogs (and owners) for an evening stroll. Thoroughly enjoyed it. So did our dog, who seemed to have a big smile on his face the whole time. We just wished we were able to come to the previous Walkies evenings. Please, please have more of these throughout the year. We also would have eaten here too if some of the cafes/restaurants were open, or even offered a pre-ordered picnic basket of sorts. Lines at the few mobile drinks/ice cream van spots were quite long. We saw some very inspiring people had brought picnics and were rather envious of their spread, sitting amongst the beautiful gardens. Very inspiring so we will plan better before next visit. We will be back when we can bring our little doggy again. Please do consider adding more Walkies dates.
Alicia E — Google review
The Versailles of British gardening If Kew is the King, then Wisley is unquestionably the Crown Prince beautifully groomed, impeccably mannered, and dripping in horticultural old-money charm. The borders are magnificent. The glasshouse is a cathedral of tropical splendour. Even the ducks appear to have degrees in botany. You don’t visit Wisley you take pilgrimage. Spring brings tulips arranged with mathematical perfection. Summer is dahlia heaven. Autumn is a masterclass in fiery foliage. Winter? Even the frost looks curated. The gift shop deserves its own postcode and a security guard you will leave with at least one book you didn’t need, a mug you don’t have room for, and seeds for plants you cannot pronounce. This is simply the Wisley effect. Bring: Comfortable shoes A packed lunch (or a willing wallet the café is delicious but not for the faint-pursed) A camera, because the borders humiliate your own garden mercilessly If you love plants, go. If you don’t love plants, go anyway you will by the end.

Great place to walk around and blow the cobwebs off on a drizzly Sunday afternoon. The autumnal colours are amazing there's still a surprising number of flowers out. Well with a visit. Check out annual passes as they may not be much more than a day pass (especially if you're a student!).

Stunning day out with the family, to be in awe of nature. Mind-blowing how many different trees/plants/flowers there are around you (all labelled!) and how exquisitely they are maintained by the RHS Wisley team. Managed to get discounted tickets and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing day of walking around all of the different gardens. The indoor glass house is also amazing in what feels like a rainforest climate! Definitely one to check out for the day to get in the clean air and appreciate the incredible creation around us! Ample free parking available.

Fabulous place. Gardens have amazing colours for Autumn. The Glasshouse was my favourite. There was a craft fair there today which had wonderful things. Didn't get round all of it today. So much to see.

Been meaning to go here for years and finally made it on what felt like the hottest day of the year so far. The gardens were beautifully maintained and the old house was a stunning backdrop to some of my photos. I particularly liked the fact there are several cafes dotted strategically around the grounds which enabled us to grab a tea or top up our water bottles as required. All told we had a lovely day out but be prepared for a long walk.

The colours of the autumn leaves were beautiful today. Some amazing plants both in the greenhouses and outside in the gardens. We had a lovely day with the bonus of the Craft and jewellery fair to visit and browse the variety of wonderful products.

The Autumn is as always colourful. Flowering plants are in pastel colours beautifully arranged. Very good and easy walking conditions; this time my friend has been able to use the electric buggy and to enjoy the outing. Pumpkin display was very artistic. An opportunity to take the pictures.

Cassiobury Park, located on the edge of urban development, spans 190 acres of open grass and woodland. It features a nature reserve with wet woodland and marshland, as well as paths alongside the Grand Union Canal and through Whippendell Woods. The park offers sports facilities, kids' attractions such as an extensive play park and miniature railway, and amenities like cafes. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities like sunbathing, paddling pools, and play areas.
Cassiobury Park is a wonderful spot for a family day out, with plenty of open green spaces that make it perfect for picnics. The park has a variety of food options nearby, including cafés and kiosks where you can grab snacks, ice creams, or a hot drink to enjoy while relaxing on the grass. It’s easy to find a quiet patch for a picnic, whether you prefer being near the hub of activity or tucked away in a more peaceful corner. The atmosphere feels welcoming, and there’s a nice balance between areas to unwind and spaces buzzing with families. For children, the play areas are a real highlight—modern, safe, and full of equipment to keep them entertained for hours. The splash park in summer is a particular favorite, making it great for warm days. Walking along the canal adds another layer of charm, as you can watch narrowboats glide past or simply enjoy a gentle stroll. Between the kids’ attractions, the scenic waterway, and the relaxed picnic-friendly vibe, Cassiobury Park offers something for everyone and easily fills a day with simple but memorable pleasures.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of a day in Cassiobury Park if you’re going for the miniature railway: 🚂 Miniature Railway Ride times are 11 am – 5 pm. It’s a short, fun trip through the trees that kids (and adults!) love. 🎶 Bandstand Today, 3 pm – 5 pm, the Big Bandstand series is on. Free live music in the heart of the park—great to relax after the train ride. 👧 Playgrounds Two big playgrounds: The Hub Playground near the Cha Café has water play features (splash area in summer), climbing frames, and swings. The Lower Playground near the paddling pools is best for younger children. 🍴 Food & Drink Cha Café (by the Hub): Independent café with sandwiches, cakes, kids’ lunch boxes, and good coffee. Gets busy at lunchtime, so earlier or later is best. Ice-cream vans and kiosks are dotted around the park. Plenty of picnic spots if you’d rather bring your own. 🌳 Walks & Extras Lovely riverside walks along the Grand Union Canal (just beyond the railway). Wide open spaces for ball games or frisbee. If you’ve time, stroll through the nature reserve area at the far end of the park—it’s quieter and great for spotting wildlife. 👉 A nice flow for your day could be: Morning: Playground + railway ride Lunch: Picnic or Cha Café Afternoon: Canal walk

Amazing and beautiful park for walks with your dog. It has a lot to offer not only to pet owners but also to parents or anyone who enjoys nature 2h free parking included but remember to take a ticket even for free period. There are at least 2 cafe points there, these are a bit pricey but they have good coffee.

The park is our lifeline. The cafes are fantastic so as the people. I feel relaxed and overwhelmed with natural feelings. We also enjoy the fireworks every year. It’s a great experience.

I recently visited Cassiobury Park for the Bake Fest event, and it was a really lovely experience. The park itself is beautiful — spacious, green, and well looked after, with plenty of room to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. The Bake Fest was a real highlight: so many stalls with delicious baked goods, as cakes and pastries. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming, and it felt like a great community event. Cassiobury Park is already a great place to spend time, whether for a walk, picnic, or just to relax outdoors, and events like Bake Fest make it even more special. I’d definitely recommend visiting, especially when something like this is happening!

We really enjoyed our visit. So much better that we thought it would be. We visited all parts and needed five hours to do so. The castle is stunning to see close up. The interior is vast. The gardens excellent. All very well maintained. Unlike National Trust properties all the guides are paid, not volunteers. They know the history well. The views across the countryside from the battlements and lovely. I recommend visiting. It is worth every penny of the entrance fee.

A must see. The castle is huge and very interesting to visit. One can see the different periods of time of its occupation. The interiors exhibit very well reconstructed rooms. The garden is very rich and diverse. The stumpery was our favorite part, in particular thanks to the autumn colours. Full tour of the castle and gardens took us about 3 hours.

Stunning castle for history, art, and design lovers! Walking through the castle and keep felt like entering one of my many childhood drawings. Such an incredible experience! Visiting from the states, so I don't get a lot of castle tours, but this one was simply exceptional. From the gardens, to the castle tour, to the guides, and the cafe, we left with an amazing experience and tons of stunning shots! Highly recommend planning for a sunny day to enjoy the beautiful gardens. Truly an unforgettable experience! The setups were stunning to see and the staff was more than friendly and informative. Plus, the food was great! We shared a sausage roll and pasty, but ate it too quickly to snap a photo! If you're in the area, or wanting to make a day trip to the south, can't suggest Arundel further! It took us three to four hours to clear the grounds and castle altogether- it's worth the ticket!

Lovely place. Bit pricey, but the castle and grounds are huge, so you can spend most of the day there. It's really well set up, with a specific route that takes you through the whole castle and learn about its history. The gardens are equally stunning. Great visit. Would recommend.

Google's 50 picture limit means I can't show you the superior quality of this place. My favourite castle in the country, somewhere I've always wanted to visit, and by a long way the best one I've ever been to. I loved every second of being in here, I'd do it all again. The Duke of Norfolk is a very lucky man, to own this place must be a very special experience.

The most beautiful castle I've ever been too. Have visited before pre baby and did the whole castle, but attended again recently to visit the gardens only as had the baby in the pram which is not accessible in the castle for prams. It was absolutely stunning and better than I remembered. Looked extra lovely in the sunshine. Gardens were beautiful. The garden cafe was great, friendly lady there. Toilets also clean and spacious. We also met the lovely little puppy Titus who was wondering the grounds with it's owner.

Watford Colosseum is a renowned concert auditorium in the heart of Watford, originally built in 1938. It is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, having hosted recordings of iconic soundtracks like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. The venue features a main auditorium, as well as a cafe, restaurant, and several bars. Additionally, it houses The Pump House, a vibrant theater that accommodates various local arts groups and a nationally acclaimed youth theater group.
A great space for concerts. Saw the Stranglers and Skids on the night. Car parking at Gade 24hr car park quite close. Accessible for wheelchairs. A security arch was at entrance. No food on the night and beer wasn't all that either. Bands were great though.

Friendly staff and security bar one mismog. Give someone a uniform eh...! Charming looking building outside. Lovely building inside. Recently revamped. Bar prices were fair. No large queues. Large seating area outside of stage area. Large standing area. Not the best acoustics here., perhaps it was the bands sound engineer making a bit of a pigs ear of it. Shall give the venue the benefit of doubt on that one.

Went to watch Jake Bugg. Great venue, friendly staff, we didn't have to queue long. Just wish we knew there was another bar further inside as we did have to queue quite a while for drinks. Cloakroom (£2) and plenty of toilets available.

We travelled here to see a music concert. The Colosseum has recently reopened after refurbishment and it was looking good. Thoughtful and classy looking refurbishment. Friendly, happy staff. Good selection of drinks though only crisps were available as a snack. Sound quality/acoustics were good and the layout helped produce a great atmosphere.

The newly refurbished colosseum was worth the wait. A delightful venue with many great events to look forward to. Bar prices seemed high which was the only negative to my first night with a concert by the BBC Concert Orchestra

Went to see Ocean Colour Scene. Apparently this is the first concert since they've refurbished this venue. And wow, they have done a magnificent job. I think there were three separate bars, where I found service was fairly swift. There's plenty of parking very close to the Colosseum. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.
Martin L — Google review
I went to Party 101 at the Watford Colosseum last night. The show itself was absolutely amazing — the atmosphere and sound system were excellent, and the performance was top-notch. Unfortunately, the organisation outside and at the bar let the night down. The queues were massive and very poorly managed. After waiting ages, we saw security suddenly begin pulling people from behind us and letting them in through a different entrance. This meant people who had only just arrived — and queued for five minutes — got inside before those of us who had been waiting much longer. If queues needed to be redirected, this should have been done from the front fairly, not from the back. There were also issues at the bar. Around 10 minutes after the performance began, alcoholic drinks stopped being served because staff had served a minor. This is completely unacceptable. IDs should always be checked, especially when knowing an event is 14+. This mistake meant the bar was closed just as the event was starting, spoiling the experience for many. I wasn’t desperate for a drink myself, but at a dance event like this, the atmosphere is definitely better when guests can enjoy refreshments responsibly. Overall, fantastic show but let down by poor queue management and serious bar staff failures. I hope the Colosseum reviews its procedures because the performers and production deserved better support.
Abby C — Google review
Easy Parking and restaurants nearby, big venue maybe 2000 capacity, clean, safe, nice kind staff. Huge reverb and very bad sound mix in the balcony but that maybe sound tech issues not the venues fault

Nestled in the picturesque West Sussex countryside, Fishers Farm Park is a haven for families seeking a fun-filled day out. The park offers an array of activities catering to all ages, from horse and tractor rides to adventure playgrounds and animal encounters. Children can expend their energy at the climbing wall, slides, swings, and water attractions while also enjoying soft play areas. Additionally, there are opportunities for feeding and handling animals, pony rides, and even animal racing events.
I only bother to do reviews if it’s worth raving about and this place certainly is! We didn’t actually anticipate how big Fishers Farm was going to be so we didn’t actually manage to do half the activities/ facilities available. We were here for 4 hours and it wasn’t enough! The food outlets are brilliant, the staff are extremely friendly and appear to actually enjoy their job which is rare to see nowadays. All ages can appreciate this farm. If you’re thinking about it, do it! My daughter had the time of her life, as did mum and dad 🙈

Last Sunday our family of four celebrated here with our 6 year old birthday boy! He was greeted with congratulations and a birthday sticker which he loved. Staff were super friendly all day! They also sung happy birthday to him on stage at the family disco! It was a gorgeously sunny day, fairly quiet considering (perhaps due to end of summer?). The tractor ride was brilliant - the lady was so informative whilst driving us around - told us names, ages and personalities of the animals which was great! Lots included for your ticket price and my son said it was an 'epic day!' Jumping pillows, play castle, tea cups, splash attack, meeting the baby animals.. just so much to see and do. Love that you can pay 2 tokens (£2) for a pony ride.. this was his favourite activity! The park was clean, queues were short, it is well spaced out but does not require huge amounts of walking. Sensory Barn was a calm retreat and the indoor play area were fab with thrilling drop slides! Our 9 year old was pleasantly surprised and loved Skyfall 6m, Climbing Wall, Devils Dyke Descent. Just as lovely as we remember (having not been since he was 3!). We will definitely return, thank you Fishers Farm for our memorable day out! 👏❤️

We visited on 02/11/2025 with our 2 and 4 year old. This farm has been designed with children (and their animals) at the heart and it really does show. We had an amazing day and every corner we turned there was something for us to look at, explore or play. Thank you for a great day. I just also want to highlight the staff, every single member of staff was smiling and eager to help or just have a good chat, especially the lovely harlequin ‘guarding’ the little Halloween scary/sweet walk throughs. The animals are so loved and cared for. We have attend manyyyyy of farms and have never seen such happy animals! I also cannot get over how clean the farm was?!? The soft plays and play village are amazing, the outside areas spotless even the animal enclosures. You all deserve a hugeeeee pat on the back. So fairly priced and we cannot wait to come back and visit.

Had a fabulous day at Fishers with my 6 year old son. He particularly loved Skyfall, the climbing wall, Tropicana wagon run, soft play areas / slides and other rides. There was certainly enough to keep him entertained for a full day. He loves the freedom and variety the Farm offers The food outlets were good and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. It is amazing to see how the park has changed and improved over 35 years! We will return again.

Always a great day out at Fishers Farm. We travel from Wiltshire to meet friends half way. I’m happy to see some investment has been made to the park. The new entrance building with the gift shop is lovely. The woodland forest has been completely re done (photos attached). We are excited to try the ringos ramp when it’s finished next time we come as that was still being worked on. We especially loved the new baby sensory area inside. Thanks all for a l other great visit, see you again soon!

We had a great time at Fishers Farm Adventure Park — it’s a brilliant day out with lots to do and really well suited for younger children. The activities, rides, and play areas are perfect for under 12s, and my preschooler absolutely loved it. That said, it’s not ideal for teens, as there isn’t much to keep older kids entertained for long. Also, the pricing felt a bit unfair — my preschooler had to pay the same price as an adult, which was the only real downside of the visit. Other than that, it was a lovely day, the park is well maintained, and we’d definitely go again!

Visited Fishers Farm Park today with my 17 month old for the first time and wow what an amazing place. I have to say it's in my top 5 of places to go with children. Staff are so friendly and really good with the children, animals are well cared for and looked after and had lovely homes. There is so much to do there for children. So many play areas, rides (most are free), slides, sensory rooms, places to run, places to bounce and places to roam free! We had such a good day here. Food and drink is reasonably priced. Lots of areas to sit and have lunch too! Spent the whole day here and had such a great time! 10000% worth a visit!

Highdown Gardens, located on the western edge of Worthing in West Sussex, England, is a must-visit landmark with its stunning sea views and remarkable collection of rare and colorful plants. Situated on Highdown Hill in the South Downs National Park, these gardens are set in an old chalk pit, making them a unique and flourishing site for various plant species. The picturesque setting offers seasonal attractions such as beautiful snowdrops in February.
This is one of my favourite local places to visit when I feel like just having a short walk by myself. It's completely free, there's plenty of nearby parking and, whatever time of year, the gardens are always interesting. It's thoughtfully set out, with plenty of seating and less exposed areas - perfect for when you just want some time by yourself.

Beautiful gardens. Free parking (must be under 2.1m as there's a barrier. We went on a busy bank holiday and whilst we had to park in the overflow car park there was plenty of room still. Lovely walk around the gardens, took us around 1-2 hours with adult children including stopping for a short sit down. There's a pond there, quite shallow but watch young children. It has an enormous fish in it which even my adult kids loved spotting and in May loads of tadpoles which younger kids would enjoy spotting. There are plenty of shaded as well as open spots to walk around and what seems to be a small visitor centre at the start (it wasn't open when we went so can't comment on it). Not somewhere to spend the day but certainly somewhere to stop for a short walk if you have time. The toilets are not pleasant and it could have done with a map of the place at the start so you didn't miss any of it and I understand why they don't want dogs but it's also frustrating when there is a wide open hill next door to walk your dog but you can't then take them into the gardens. All in all however definitely worth stopping off. There's also no right turn into there so you have to do to the roundabout and back to turn into it if heading from east to west.

What a find , free parking , free entry to this stunning little oasis of a garden. Really worth a visit , hope to go another day when plants are for sale . Great for a quiet picnic lots of benches and accessible too . No dogs .

Lovely gardens. So much shade which is cool to stop and rest under. All the trees are labelled so you can learn as you go around. Toilets are available at the start of the gardens but there is also a cafe and pub.

A beautiful place. Recommended to me by a dendrologist I know. This place was set up by a gentleman and his wife who created a garden on chalk!!! Not very large, but there is a nursery nearby for coffee and Highdown Hill which can be walked from Highdown Gardens car park. Has a very gradual incline so is quite easy. Very popular with dog walkers. We sat at the top on a beautiful, hot, sunny late afternoon in June and saw skylarks 😊 hovering above

The English Martyrs Catholic Church in Goring-by-Sea may appear unremarkable on the outside, but it houses an extraordinary treasure within. Inside, visitors can feast their eyes on a remarkable reproduction of Michelangelo's iconic Sistine Chapel Ceiling. The replica is scaled down to two-thirds its original size and boasts colors that mirror the recently cleaned ceiling in Rome. Additionally, the church features an enchanting array of stained glass windows that fill the interior with abundant light.
A lovely church of modern design, friendly and amazing designs, and the famous painting of the Michelangelo Sistine Chapel ceiling by a local artist. The Goring-by-sea ceiling was painted in the 1980s by a parishioner Gary Bevans after he returned from a pilgrimage to Rome with the church's priest.

Unique experience the only true copy of the Sistine chapel at 2/3 size outside of Italy. Took one man 5 years to complete by himself as opposed to Michelangelo and his team spending 4 and 1/2 years for the real thing. It really is amazing to see if you can go early late morning early afternoon. There's often a docent who will tell you a story about the ceiling. Donations are welcome. Best to call ahead in case there is a service or a funeral, in which case you won't be able to go in. Truly amazing! Recommended.

Stunning, fascinating, marvelous. What a ceiling, completely brought to life by a very knowledgeable parishioner. An absolute must see. Her talk/chat lasted about 10 minutes, followed with our many questions, then a nice cup of tea and cake with the locals in the hall nextdoor. All lent to a very pleasant afternoon. Thank you

Fortunatley we wernt far from it where we ended up. Lovely lady at the church who checked to see where we went wrong - to tell me i was an hours drive away! For those seeking outdoor activities, there are opportunities to explore Alice Holt's distinct character on bikes, venturing into the serene countryside that straddles Surrey and Hampshire. Along stunning paths through the peaceful oak woodlands, visitors can spot a variety of wildlife species like woodpeckers and more.
We stayed in the Safari Hotel for 4 nights and had the best time! The room was clean and large which was great as we could put some toys out on the floor for our 14 month old. The one thing that stood out the most was the friendliness of the staff. Every single person we came into contact with from the reception team, cleaners and restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and polite. On the first morning our breakfast was served in the Temple Restaurant and we were greeted by Joanne who blew us away with her attentiveness and thoroughness to show us exactly where everything was. We felt so welcome. The next morning and for the rest of our stay we had breakfast at the Zafari restaurant where Julie looked after us. Julie was AMAZING with our daughter and would make a special effort to come over every morning to check we were okay and play with our daughter. Julie would sing songs and play with her and it really made us feel we were in the right place for our family. Julie is a STAR. We enjoyed 2 days in the park itself and loved every part of it. Seeing the animals was our favourite as this is something we could all do as a family. We had a great stay and will definitely be back. Thank you! 🙂

So much to do for all of the family our age range was 6-11 and there was only 1 ride the 6yr old couldn't go on so if you have thrill seekinging younger ones I would recommend Chessington but also the gruffalo ride and room on a broom we're amazing gentle fun the was perfect for a little (or big) one that doesn't like going too fast. Plenty of photo opportunities to capture the family fun memories

I’ve been visiting Chessington ever since I was a kid, and now I get to bring my own children here! The park has retained much of its charm from when I was younger. My daughters are 8 and 2, and there are plenty of rides and attractions suitable for both of them to enjoy. It’s great to see the park continuing to evolve with exciting additions like the Jumanji area and the upcoming Paw Patrol attraction. However, I do feel that some of the older rides could use a bit more attention — we got stuck on the Gruffalo ride, and the Vampire ride (my very first rollercoaster!) was unfortunately closed. I was really looking forward to sharing that nostalgic experience with my daughter. Overall, Chessington is still a fantastic family day out and a place full of wonderful memories. We’ll definitely be back once the new areas and rides open up!

A very good family theme park. There is a wide variety of attractions, including a good selection of rollercoasters for those wanting rides of the slightly more thrilling type. There are also many younger oriented rides.

Disappointing Experience at Chessington Adventures I spent around 45 minutes stuck in traffic just trying to get into the park, and then another 30 minutes driving around the car park looking for a space. Even though we paid full price for our tickets, we were only able to go on about 3–5 rides the entire day because of how extremely busy it was. The signboards claimed the waiting time was 30 minutes, but that’s completely inaccurate — it took at least double that for every ride. The park itself looks nice, but the whole experience was ruined by the endless queues and poor crowd management. Overall, it was an awful experience and definitely not worth the time or money. I wouldn’t want to visit again.

I visited Chessington World of Adventures today with my family and had a really good time. The weather was lovely, which always helps, and I was impressed with how easy it was to get on the rides. Most of them had little to no queue at all, so we could go straight on, which was fantastic with young children. The kids really enjoyed themselves and there was a nice mix of rides suitable for their ages. On the downside, some of the rides could definitely do with a bit more cleaning and maintenance, as a few looked quite worn. I also noticed a bit of a rat problem near some of the bins, which was unpleasant to see. Overall though, we had a very enjoyable day out and I would recommend it to families, especially if you can go on a quieter day like we did.
Tom R — Google review
Lovely day with the children, my only criticism is the time it takes to get onto the ride, the cost to upgrade is just too much, but the time wasted on getting people off and on I think could be improved to speed things up. The guys in the ticket office were brilliant after some issues with my tickets not coming through they sorted it very quickly.
Tim K — Google review
Chessington is an all rounded place to visit as it both has animals and rides!!! The ride queue time is sometimes long but you get to buy quick access tickets. Sometimes even when the queue was just 5 minutes you had to walk through the long queue path which sometimes can be annoying. The park has something for everyone. Not much choice in food especially if you are health conscious but you get to bring your own picnic. Staff were friendly in the park- not so much in the car park. The refill stations for the cups you can buy for £18 were few and not well sign posted and the ones stationed outside were covered in wasps. The ones in the sweet shop were great!! They also don’t let u refill for ten minutes which was also annoying cos I got a couple of wasps in my first drink!! The rides were good. The animals look healthy and happy. I had a very good day out here.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in Richmond is a renowned destination featuring an extensive collection of trees and flowers from all over the world. Visitors can explore vast gardens, expansive greenhouses, and a treetop walkway. The gardens are home to rare and threatened plants housed in the largest Victorian glasshouse globally. Additionally, there are family-friendly exhibitions and events such as Kew the Music, a week-long music festival with acclaimed performers like Lewis Capaldi.
Spent a lovely few hours in Kew Gardens. Even in early October, many flowers in bloom. Colours were just starting to turn on the trees, lovely vistas everywhere, interesting conservatories. Nice lunch in in Orangery. Highly recommend a visit. Need a few hours.

The autumn colours at Kew are simply spectacular and worth the visit alone. The foliage was at its peak, and the landscape was incredibly beautiful. Do dress warmly though, as it gets cold in the late afternoon. One drawback for evening visitors: the shop closes considerably earlier than the advertised time. Staff began asking people to leave at 5:40 PM, and the shop was completely closed by 5:50 PM. So, if you're counting on buying gifts at the end of your trip, make sure you visit the shop with plenty of time to spare.

If you live reasonably near it is worthwhile becoming a member. Every visit is different with the seasons changing and there are so many different places to go and enjoy. The little train ride round the gardens is informative and gives insight into just how much space there is here. I love the Japanese house, the rhodendron dell near to it, the students gardens and the evolution garden but there is plenty more to enjoy. Members also get 10% discount in the shop. Photos show the pagoda and an exhibit from one of the orchid festivals.

We visited here for the first time ever last weekend, despite our Daughter living in London. We bought tickets online so that upon arrival they were promptly scanned, no queue whatsoever. Where do I start, the gardens are stunning and the place is so vast. We walked around the perimeter path to start, then we walked everywhere, the large glass houses and conservatories are amazing, there is so much to see. Amenities are great, lots of choices for food, we ate at a Orangery restaurant in the grounds under the grape vines (al fresco dining) the food was amazing, where a main with drinks was only £66 for 3 adults. These gardens are predominantly wheelchair accessible too. We thoroughly enjoyed the Treetop Walkway (which has a lift and stairs) so pushchair users were also able to go up, the views were fantastic. The day was warm, so there were families enjoying picnics in the relaxing grounds. Prepare to sieve a whole day, and for the entrance fee considering this is London, we found the prices to be very reasonable indeed. There is just so much for the whole family. Facilities are extremely good too, with accessible toilets, changing places toilet, baby feeding room, baby change, shop, cafe, information, and water fountains throughout the gardens, there is also a prayer/reflections room, and finally a bus stop. Visiting is a must.

It is one of the most famous and important gardens in the world. It is a historic landscape garden in southwest London, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Charles Darwin’s contributed to Kew Gardens significantly, mainly because Kew houses a large part of the plant specimens he collected during his famous voyage aboard the HMS Beagle from 1831 to 1836. Around 450 of the approximately 1,400 plant specimens Darwin gathered are preserved at Kew, with these collections still actively studied and digitized. Great experience with really a lot of different impressions: - areas with plants from all over the world - treetop walkway Kew Gardens is renowned for its extraordinary glasshouses, which house diverse plant collections from across the globe. The key glasshouses include: - The Palm House: Built between 1844 and 1848, the Palm House is one of the most iconic Victorian glasshouses. It features a tropical rainforest environment and hosts many rare and endangered tropical plants, including the oldest potted plant in the world, - Temperate House: The largest Victorian glasshouse in the world, the Temperate House houses around 10,000 plants of 1,500 species from regions including Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the Americas. - Water Lily House: Built in 1852 and designed by the same architect and ironmaker as the Palm House, the Water Lily House shelters aquatic plants including tropical water lilies. - King George III‘s house King George III’s house in Kew Gardens is known as Kew Palace, also called the Dutch House. Originally built in 1631 as a silk merchant’s mansion, it became the smallest royal palace and served as the summer home of King George III in the 18th century. George III and his wife Queen Charlotte spent many happy summers there with their large family. The palace and its gardens provided a private, intimate retreat from public life, where the king could live more normally without the usual royal ceremony. Really a great experience and you have to plan enough time - or even several visits.

(October) Some pathways and buildings were closed for the season. Large, busy gift shop at the main Victoria entrance, with plants and many souvenir/gift items. Only two cashiers on duty at a busy time meant I opted out of my intended small purchase. Signage throughout the gardens is quite good. Fall colours, Syon Outlook, Treetop Walkway, Temperate House, Great Pagoda, Queen Charlotte’s Cottage, Kew Palace.

Visited during bank holiday! Perfect weather! Blazing hot sun but that’s fine as there’s loads of places to find and hitch under shade. The park is well kept and looks fantastic. We must’ve walked around for 5-6 hours. The park is really amazing. I took a trolley with me loaded with blankets and food and stuff which was great as there’s no restrictions on that. The family and kids loved the day out here definitely will be back for Christmas lights!

Wembley Stadium stands as a monumental landmark in London, renowned for hosting significant football events such as the FA Cup Final and various international matches. Designed by the esteemed architect Norman Foster, this state-of-the-art venue can accommodate up to 40,000 spectators at once. Its impressive structure features a retractable roof and an iconic 133-meter high arch that not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also supports much of the main roof.
The venue is incredible! The Lana del Rey concert was otherworldly! As far as safety goes, I felt like Wembley was doing a good job. After walking through a full body scanner a staff member will search through your bag with a pole. They definitely don’t take security threats lightly which was good to see considering the huge crowd. There was one moment where they were searching for someone and kept making security announcements through the speakers. The announcer sounded very concerned and probably averaged 10 announcements per 15minutes which instilled a slight panic in me and a group of girls behind me. We were worried there might be a safety concern. According to the internet it turned out, a father was searching for his little (8 yo) daughter. So luckily there was no cause for concern. I also appreciated the staff giving directions and advice on how to get home fastest! My friend and I were going to try to get on the tube however after talking to a staff member we decided to take the train and everything went smoothly! We didn’t have to wait for long and were home in about an hour.

Love the new Wembley stadium. Getting to the ground is so easy now, and builds the atmosphere from miles away. Communal areas are spacious, with teams keeping it clean, and well lit so you do not feel crammed into walkways. Access into the stadium is very well managed and planned, removing long queues and tight turnstiles.

What a venue…I love Wembley with its great tube link and central location at Wembley Park. It offers a fantastic entrance and exit experience and the venue is very clean and modern for British conditions. The atmosphere cannot be better in this construction like a bowl the concerts and games sound amazing.

Great stadium, loads of food choices near by and shops if you have time. Be aware that there is a no bag policy, so don't bring a bag (you can bring a v small bag, details at the Wembley website)

Excellent ground that is befitting of the venue of our national stadium. We parked in red parking which was literally next to the ground. 5 minutes walk and we were in the queue which went down very quickly. Once inside a good range of food, albeit at very London prices. Chicken tenders were top notch. Will definitely visit again. 👍🏼

Wembley Stadium is such an amazing place for a match or event. The light shows before the games always look incredible, and there are plenty of good seating options for decent prices. Tickets are usually quite affordable too, which is great for such a big venue. There are loads of toilets around (including accessible ones), and plenty of food and drink stands both inside and outside the stadium. You can also grab a match programme for about £5, which makes a nice souvenir, or pick up merchandise like shirts, hats, and keyrings. The stadium’s easy to get to by tube, and there’s parking on site as well. Plus, there are loads of shops, bars, and restaurants nearby, including a big outlet park. The staff are always friendly and helpful too, which makes the whole experience even better. The only downside is how busy it gets after matches. It can be a nightmare trying to leave when the station is packed, and a few times we’ve had to leave early just to beat the crowds and get home at a decent time.
Alex C — Google review
First time at Wembley for Coldplay and it wasn’t just the concert that was amazing. Wembley staff were friendly, stewards were super helpful. It was a great atmosphere and super safe. Travelling by tube was easy and a short walk up to the ground just helps build the excitement. Plenty of food stands and drinks inside along with merchandise. We elected to go Experience by Wembley, so we were in VIP on Level two. Recommended for sure.

Denbies Wine Estate is a unique destination offering quirky farmhouse B&B accommodations with en suite bathrooms, surrounded by a sprawling vineyard and two restaurants. Despite the challenging climate for grape cultivation in the UK, Denbies manages to produce remarkable wines that have garnered international acclaim. The estate's expansive 265-acre vineyard provides stunning photo opportunities reminiscent of picturesque landscapes abroad.
Lovely lunch and train ride around the Vineyard. Glass of sparkling wine optional. Worth booking lunch early as the last Vineyard tour stops at 3pm. Great view over the North Downs and Boxhill. The Gallery restaurant gets quite warm and busy. There's also a ground floor Brassiere and garden restaurant/ hotel. Hidden gem in the Surrey countryside. Recommended 👌🏽

Set against rolling hills, this estate offers a charming blend of nature and refinement. The tours are informative, with knowledgeable guides who bring the vineyards to life. Wines are varied and enjoyable, though a few lack the depth of finer European rivals. Dining is pleasant with scenic views. Overall, a rewarding experience that balances education and leisure, deserving a confident four stars.

Autumn colours lovely

Enjoyed the tea and train tour at the wine estate. Afternoon tea was delicious (both savoury and sweet, and there was plenty to go around). Would have liked a bit more instruction / organisation from the team about what the experience entailed. The hotel restaurant team were not prepared to receive us after the tour finished so there was a bit of waiting around which interrupted the momentum of what was otherwise a fab day. The wine was great too!

The Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising, founded by consumer historian Robert Opie in 1984, houses a vast collection of over 12,000 original items dating from the Victorian era to the present day. The museum offers visitors a journey through time with its Time Tunnel exhibition, showcasing the evolution of well-known brands over the past 150 years.
Fascinating insight into the world of packaging from Victorian era through to the present day, not just packaging but also everyday items that we can all relate to from tins and bottles to sweets TVs and record players and everything else that comes with it. What was best of all was meeting the gentleman himself. The glass exhibition was also fascinating.. Recommended for anyone who wants to take a trip down memory lane

Visited on Thursday, 03rd July 2025. Close to Ladbrook Grove station, no need to buy tickets in advance. Called the Museum of Brands, but in truth, it would appear that after the initial section dealing with the first types of advertising, you jump to products from each era with a focus on the 1960s onwards in a nostalgia fest as you go around saying "I remember that" etc etc. Next to the shop on the other side, there is an interesting grouping of domestic products illustrating the changes in packaging and appearance through the ages of these long-established brands. Not sure what the point of the museum is, and I am not sure the museum does either. A lovely garden area to drink and eat your small cafe-purchased products.

A fascinating museum, Well worth the money and very informative. Plus even though it is not very big there is so much too see and you literally feel like you are walking through time. It also has a Cafe toilets and a beautiful garden.

Loved it. A proper nostalgia trip and highly-recommended. We showed-up for the extra exhibition on Gerry Anderson - while great as well, it would’ve been nice to have more merch for sale. Still, a terrific way to spend a rainy afternoon!

If you’d like to know the history of package design, this is a perfect place to go and if you’d like to see a very old old stuff, they have preserved history from the 20s. I would like to say I did not check the first date of when they started preserving things, but a cute little place with a cute little garden and it’s just something to do if you’re in Portobello.

The Museum of Brands not only created a real feeling of nostalgia, seeing games and toys that my Nan and grandad had from my parents’ era and the eras around it, but it did a brilliant job of talking about culture over time and it’s shaped technology and brands, and vice versa. I’d recommend a trip for anyone looking for a trip down memory lane (one of the other visitors spoke about how good it would be for anyone suffering from Alzheimer’s too). It’s also a worthwhile afternoon for those working in marketing or advertising, like myself, who are in need of some inspiration!

This feels more like a 'grown up' museum rather than one for kids. It has lots of items in the exhibits, with the vast majority being behind screens. There's a couple of 'phones' where you can listen to some stories about the displays but one didn't work for us. It did have a 'trail' for half term but there wasn't anything particularly interactive about the displays. It could have an activity to create an advert/own brand. We went in the Thunderbirds exhibition (reason we went). There were a lot of items all together which was cool and my son (8) enjoyed looking at them as he really likes Thunderbirds. Again a looking at things through glass type exhibit (with the exception of the big thunderbird 3) which I get given the type of items. Cafe was good for lunch.

Kensington Palace, located in Kensington Gardens in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, is a historic royal residence with beautiful gardens. It has been home to members of the royal family since the 17th century. Initially built in 1605, it became the residence of notable monarchs such as Queen Victoria and Princess Diana.
Pleasantly surprised! I went here by myself and really enjoyed my visit. I am not a history buff by any means but the guided audio tour made it really interesting walking around the 3 apartments and then the best part was catching one of the guides doing their timed talks about Caroline and her life. He was so engaging and the story was interesting. The gardens were lovely and the cafe delicious. I had a lemon pound cake and a cheese tomato toasty that had a lot more flavor than I expected. I think it was spiced well. There are a few stairs going up and down the palace but manageable. It also helped that it didn’t feel too overwhelming and big. It took me about 2.5 hours to look at everything at a very leisurely pace. I went on a Friday afternoon and there was no wait to get inside and a very manageable amount of people inside so it didn’t feel too touristy. Would definitely recommend if interested at all in the royal history or how they used to live.

I had the pleasure of visiting Kensington Palace with my family in the evening, and it was a truly memorable experience. Kensington Palace is one of London’s most elegant historic landmarks, blending royal history with beautifully curated exhibits. Once the childhood home of Queen Victoria and the residence of Princess Diana, the palace holds deep significance in Britain’s royal heritage. Today, it is still a working royal residence for members of the Royal Family while also open to the public. The exhibits are outstanding—ranging from the regal State Apartments to special collections of royal fashion, portraits, and artifacts. Each gallery tells a story of the monarchs who lived here, and the attention to detail makes the experience both educational and inspiring. One of the best features is the audio guide, which is included for visitors. It brings the palace to life with engaging stories, helping tourists understand the history, architecture, and personalities behind the palace walls. Combined with the lush Kensington Gardens just outside, the visit feels like stepping into living history. Overall, Kensington Palace offers the perfect balance of royal history and cultural experience—a must-visit for anyone exploring London. 👑✨

Kensington Palace was stunning. The exterior architecture and interior artworks, styling, ceiling paintings, and flooring were terrific to view. A new designer exhibit showcased a range of clothing influenced by various royal eras. The artwork in the King's Gallery was stunning, and the wallpaper in a hallway was designed with different Diana images. The exterior sculpture of Queen Victoria is excellent. There is a cafe and toilets in Kensington Palace.

Visited on my last day in London for a last little cultural detour. It was really lovely, easy to find my way around and the audio guide was perfect. It’s the perfect place to go if you want to see a little history and you don’t have much time (took me approx an hour).

Always love visiting the palace and this was for the Dress Codes exhibition. That was small but amazing to see. Loved the gift shop and bought another tea towel. The cafe was almost closing when I went but still served me. Great staff.

I’ve seen the palace and that’s amazing. Very surreal feeling knowing the history of the rooms you’re walking through. I had actually visited the cancel before but was back to attend the Dress Codes exhibition. I thought that was disappointing, I expected to see a lot more, but the palace is great.

I love visiting Kensington Palace especially when an exhibition is happening. The Dress Codes exhibition was wonderful and fascinating to see the variety of costumes/uniforms/clothes worn by gentry and staff/servants. A small exhibition but nice and relaxed atmosphere. The rest of the Palace is always an interesting experience. Be careful visiting KP as it’s not open every day.

I recently visited Kensington Palace and found it a really interesting experience. Walking through the rooms gave me a real sense of history, almost like stepping back in time. The exhibitions were well presented, and it was fascinating to learn about the lives of the royals who lived there. The palace is famous for being the birthplace and childhood home of Queen Victoria, and in more recent history it became the official residence of Princess Diana, which makes it very special to many visitors. Today, parts of it are still used by members of the Royal Family, while other areas are open to the public, giving you a unique mix of living history and heritage. Overall, it was a memorable visit that gave me a chance to connect with the stories behind one of London’s most iconic royal homes.
