Best trip I have ever had thanks to this hotel ! I was on my honeymoon. The people who worked there wear amazing ! Very nice, always here to help you, and very kind. The food was good, the swiming pool was so fun, and I’m say an adult so trust me it’s really fun. The spa was nice but too many people and so many jaccuzi. Swedish people are really amazing, and they have great cultres. We also saw nothernlights several times. A big thank you to the staff !!

I was in Sweden for 2 days 2 years ago. My first night was in this place. It was really good. The swimming pool was good. My favourite was Space Bowl, but I hit my head a little bit, but it didn't hurt. I was at the Superior Room and I recommend for a 4-person family to sleep there. The breakfast there was super good. Recommend to be here

The Piteå swimming pool is a clean, family-friendly facility with warm water, modern changing rooms, and a relaxed atmosphere. It offers separate pools for kids and adults, a small water slide, and a sauna area. Staff are kind and helpful. Perfect for families visiting northern Sweden.
Ahmad N — Google review
We bought an Easter package and stayed at the hotel for 2 nights with our family. The price-performance ratio is quite good. The package we bought included the aquapark, breakfast and dinner. There is also an entertainment area for children and it is included in the price. It is an ideal holiday for families with children. The dinners were open buffet concept and were the same both days. The open buffet included sausage, tacos, chicken and meat (as well as other ingredients for tacos and french fries).

We went to nimbys world, not at the hotel. Was a wonderful place, great theater show for kids. I wouldn't try bowling, but the rest was great.

Staff were very friendly. There's a restaurant but you could also bring your own snacks. Water was warm and suitable for all ages. The slides were very good, my kids had fun 😁.
Aina I — Google review
A good water park for all ages. From two months old to older. Although the park area is not very large, it has a good variety. Two indoor and outdoor pools with safe slides for children up to two years old and two pools for older children. Several different slides for adults, a wave pool, a restaurant and a cafe, sun loungers, and a couple of jacuzzis. Also a sauna and massage (which was closed when we went). The men's and women's changing rooms are clean and tidy. The quality of the food was also very good. The park facilities are not very extensive but good. The price (27 euros for an adult) is very high. Parking is difficult to find during the summer holidays. The various areas are wheelchair accessible. The staff is very friendly.
Amir M — Google review
Nice place to go swimming with family especially with kids.
Ravichandra R — Google review
The receptionist chose the wrong amount of food for us and we reported that to the receptionist but they just said there was nothing they could do because the food was already done , we ended up eating more food than we needed and had to pay for it , I think they should retrain the receptionists and they need to remember to read all the items the customer ordered before proceeding 🙄
Quan D — Google review
Fun water park for all ages including massive water slides outside. Spent 3.5 hours in the water with a six year old who loved it. Really friendly staff with jumper cable car starting kit on site for when camper van failed to start.
Kieran L — Google review
Good overall.clean shower,privacy all over.no clicking pics.
Shraddha V — Google review
I wish I had seen this when this place was new. Strong 5 stars would be for that it is survived over the years. 3 stars only because I want to be honest for others. As activity facility it is surely nice place to be in summer and during warm days for sure. For kids nothing matters all they want is warm water and a lots to play. Adults see and notice that better days has gone and place needs to be updated and renovated into original shine and maintained for customer eyes to that glory that it should be. This all was noticed while sitting in bubble bath and looking to the ceiling and around. Price big or small matters for people with different wallet thickness and taste of surroundings, but I considered it costly for four person family. Now I know and have been and considering going only when price is lowered to the level that premises provide today and not more.
E M — Google review
Has something to offer for everyone, even very small slides for our 2 year old child. Temperature is good (water and air) so that you feel comfortable even for longer stays. Showers were very clean. Easily accessible via car and enough parking spaces available. A bit expensive but still ok.

Västerbotten museum

Mentioned on

Museum
Art Museums
Västerbotten Museum, located within the Gammlia museum complex, offers a captivating journey through the history of the province from ancient times to the present day. The museum features a diverse range of exhibitions, including an impressive collection of skiing artifacts dating back thousands of years and an exploration of Sami rock art. Visitors can also enjoy temporary exhibitions, workshops, and activities for children. Additionally, the museum boasts a quality café specializing in organic cuisine.
Super great experience and totally free. There is a gift shop and a cafe you can spend some money at though. There is something for everyone in this museum, its so diverse. If you are interested in art, history, buildings, textiles they have it. If you only got a few hours you might need to pick the most interesting areas. When we visited there were a temporary exhibition about abortion which was heart breaking but such an important topic. If its there go see it. The outdoor part is mostly buildings along with information, which we really appreciated. Its a kilometer plus walk, but well worth it.
Micael H — Google review
The museum have a great vibe. To know the snow-to-stone-to-iron-to-bronze history a great place to visit. Also you can find from where the symbol of Västerbotten county came from (you can try to find also). The buildings/structures outside the main building are also must visit. Do not forget to visit the school and get a lecture from a very cool teacher.
Dhruv A — Google review
Totally a must go place when your in Umeå! This probably is one of the most vivid museums I’ve ever been. Starting from the ice age until futuristic art, this place covers everything. And it’s even free! While there could be more information in English (use the Google translator app), the artifacts are beautiful and the same goes for the houses as well. I also enjoyed all the artwork which was displayed. Thanks to me visiting the museum on a weekday not in season; there weren’t a lot of people and I could enjoy the art / objects. Totally recommend this place. Also, it’s easily accessible for people in wheelchairs and for cyclists there is a bycicle parking area.
Severin K — Google review
Västerbotten museum locate in the Gammlia area. It's completely free to enter and have a good time here. The stuff they show here is not the most surprising, some of the descriptions only in Swedish. Overall it is still a pretty good museum especially since they have a lot of events going on here.

Guitars - The Museum, located in Umea, Sweden, is a captivating destination for music aficionados and guitar enthusiasts. This renowned museum boasts an extensive assortment of electric guitars and vintage memorabilia, featuring around 500 instruments including basses. Housed within the historic Scharinksa building, which was originally constructed as a family home in 1904, the museum also incorporates a live music venue and hosts exhibitions inspired by music-related photography, fashion, art, and design.
5 stars is nowhere enough but it's all I can give. Phenomenal collection. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Talked for a good while with one of the brothers and the passion and insight was incredible. Visiting Umeå and not going here should be considered a crime 😃 2 hours was minimum for me. Thank you so much for this cultural heritage act of preserving these guitars, amps, etc

Perfect place for a afternoon trip to this museum of vivid collection of guitars from around the world. Located at city center near the bus stop. Join their guided tour (both in English and Swedish) to precisely know about the all stories connected with each guitar. Exciting to learn more about the Elvis Presley and other guitar legends.

The museum is definitely worth a visit. The guided tour was really super good and the museum is super nice. 10/10 would visit again.

A must visit place if you love guitars. The brothers have an unique collection of the legendary masterpieaces of the 50’s and 60’s era, the born and the beginning of the electric guitars. There are some guitars you can see only here! They make a guided tour, on english too, it’s about 45 minutes. Totally worth it!

(Translated by Google) Perfect accommodation, nice owner. However, I was deceived that it was bed and breakfast, but there was no breakfast. Not the owner's fault as I found info on google from a 3rd party. Fresh and functional. Also accepts animals for an extra cleaning fee. (Big plus) Parking is available next door. Own shower and toilet. TV. TV.

Skuleskogen National Park

Mentioned on
1 list
National park
Nature & Parks
Skuleskogen National Park is a breathtaking destination nestled in Vasternorrland County, where nature's beauty unfolds in unique landscapes featuring majestic mountains, lush forests, and stunning coastal views. The park offers an inviting walking loop that begins at the southern entrance parking lot and leads to the sandy shores of Kalaviken. This trail is perfect for families or those with mobility challenges due to its manageable distance.
The National Park is a true gem for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Everything here is carefully planned to ensure visitors' convenience and comfort, making the experience even more enjoyable. For those arriving by car, there are plenty of parking spaces, making it easy to find a spot close to the entrance. There are also three well-maintained outdoor toilets strategically placed around the park, which is very practical and appreciated. The park's network of hiking trails is impressive. There are many different paths to choose from, allowing visitors to explore the area at their own pace and according to their own abilities. The trails are well-marked and suitable for both children and adults, making the national park a perfect destination for families. The view of the sea is absolutely stunning, offering a sense of peace and freedom. The national park is an excellent choice for a day trip or a longer hike. The well-planned infrastructure, numerous amenities, and outstanding natural beauty make this a place that suits everyone, regardless of age or interest.
Ainur S — Google review
It's very beautiful, and the paths are easy to walk and follow. However, I'm removing one star because it can get very crowded at times. The camping areas are also very small; we had two people putting up their tent just two meters from ours, which wasn't very pleasant and detracted from the nature experience.
Isak L — Google review
Magical place, busy in daytime with hikers but so big the you can allways enjoy nature alone.
Sanneke G — Google review
Awesome national park. Good for all seasons. In winter it could be that only one trail is open depending on snow amount but truly great hiking place. Enough parking. Actual hike in winter would say moderate some parts hard. But with good hiking footwear all is possible. In summer lots of green and water everywhere. Landscape is so gorgeous. I recommend any season this national park.
Martins F — Google review
Very nice national park with great views of the ocean of the high coast. We came here in late march and had our snow shoes with us which was a very good idea. Without them you just sink in the snow. After about 2.5 km from the west entrance we came to a nice hut and from there it was a bit more challenging hike to the must see “skreva” which is iconic. Works if you’re in good shape 💪
John H — Google review
What a wonderful hike. We stayed just a few minutes away from this wonderful National Park. We entered from the south with its huge parking lot, which was almost full on that day (but free of charge). There are some good and useful information signs just at the entrance and a handful of (smelly) bathrooms. And pretty much your first and last chance to get rid of your garbage. We followed the well marked Höga Kustenleden trail up to Slåttdalsskrevan, the famous crevice which cuts through the mountain for about 200m. The trail itself ist pretty flat but with some steep stairs / sections once in a while. Some parts you'll walk on wooden panels/boards. But it's nowhere near wheelchair or stroller accessable. Good hiking boots are a must, since it can be wet and damp even on a dry summer day. Some sections of the trail are covered with stones in several sizes, so bring a good balance with. We traveled with our Engllish Bulldog and she made it to Slåttdalsskrevan and back, even had fun doing so (into the Slåttdalsskrevan I went alone though, the climb was to high and steep). The trail mostly leads you through the forest, so there's not much of a view. But the nature is amazing, especially when the forest opens up a bit and the rugged and foggy landscape shows itself. Even though it's a well visited park (free of charge) it never felt crowded. It's just you and the nature. And it's not a too tough hike, but bring some water anyways and clothes to change afterwards. A fantastic park and very much one of the highlights we've visited on our Sweden Road Trip.
Alex H — Google review
Absolutely incredible in the last week of June. Would highly recommend camping at Tärnättvattnet which is a beautiful little lake where you can swim. Also the beach at Kälviken is magnificent.
Janey L — Google review
Spectacular hike with breathtaking views to Bothnian Sea (from enter Syd first orange and then blue trail ten you go over the beautiful hills). Easy hike even with children. Round trip to Slåttdalsskrevan and back with calm pace takes 4-5hours. Nature changes throughout t hike, so it interesting all the time.

5-star experience! After roaming around at the fortress last month we had lunch at the restaurant where I asked if they served Swedish Meatballs (this was off menu). The friendly waitress informed us that would be no problem and immediately requested the chef to make a *delicious* dish of Swedish meatballs with potato mousse - free of charge!! It is without a doubt that we will return and introduce our guests to the fortress and welcoming restaurant.
Casper G — Google review
Best view (by far), lunch buffet and prices in Sweden. Will come back!!
Mat S — Google review
Its all about the view and the history about Hemsö färstning. The restaurant is of good quality, looks and feel newly built. Get the "good table" close to the cannon and enjoy you meal, beer och glas of wine. Very friendly staff. Be prepared for bus-tours visiting, so from beeing completly empy the restaurant (and its toilets) can be full in mather of minutes. Great place, you should go.
Jim S — Google review
The guided tour was fantastic, apart from an old worker from the base that kept interrupting our awesome tour guide and trying to take over the show, feel really sorry for our guide, we could tell he was losing the interest of speaking because of the old guy after a few stops. The restaurant on the other hand , the buffet looked like a disgrace, sure if you want to pay 120kr for a salad buffet go ahead but me and the 6 others decided to drive an hour to find more appealing food, sorry guys but you need to pick up your game in the kitchen.
The K — Google review
The restaurant was open airy with big windows facing the sea. When the weather is.good.you also have some tables outside to use. Really good food and polite staff. This is a lunch restaurant. If you like military history and good food this is the place.

Value for money! The buffet is 120 SEK and is really good, very tasteful!! Perfect price model for kids as well, 10 SEK per years old.

A very interesting aircraft museum containing mostly Saab fighter jets that were stationed at F15 base from 1946 to 1998. The volunteers here have done a wonderful job of restoring and maintaining the aircraft. You can climb the ladders to look inside the cockpits. They have good displays around the jets to explain all details including the daily operations. It is good for the children as they have aircraft toys to keep them entertained. Unfortunately the simulator was only available at the weekend and I was there on a weekday. You need to book in advance and to check the operating days from their website.

A really nice museum detailing Swedish military aviation at the airbase from when it was established to when it closed down. The volunteers are great and the entrance fee is reasonable. The little gift shop and cafe are nice touches. The flight simulator is definitely recommended - book in advance to be sure of a slot. The exhibitions are nice and well detailed and the historical photos are really good.
Brian L — Google review
Plenty of planes and information about them, a good selection of exhibits too as well as some excellent models of planes through the ages. If your a fan of the earlier days of jet powered flight there is lots to take in. You can really get a sense of what the base was like in its operational days! The gift shop is well stocked too! My only criticism is that parts of the museum are a touch dated and could do with a touch of modernising. This may be subject to taste though. Overall a fun experience!

Vildriket

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Great concept, with a collection of Nordic fauna and flora. Well set up, with a wooden walkway all around the mountain forest park overlooking the animal enclosures, and with lovely very Swedish rest spots along the way, with grilling facilities. Open every day of the year, from 10:00-15:00. It says on GoogleMaps that people typically spend 20 min to 1 hr at Vildriket. I think that is a gross underestimation. We spent about 4 hrs there ourselves. I think it would also be nice to pay a visit in the evening when the animals are a little more active, especially with all the owl species they have.
Helen H — Google review
Such a gem! We had a wonderful time. We spent there 2.5 hours and even though it was raining it didn't make the experience any less exciting. The platforms were not slippery at all even when wet. Each animals had a wonderful story with interesting facts. There were only two exhibits that didn't have animals due to very clearly explained reasons. There were a lot of public toilets available with small distances from each other.
Sona M — Google review
Easy walk on the wooden path. Lots to see, lots of good information, and nicely shaded. The animals looked well cared for. Information is in Swedish with English summaries. I enjoyed this as a solo adult traveler, probably even better for kids. Note that they rebranded to Vildsriket from Järvsö Zoo and Google Maps can still be a bit messy.

Excellent park to go with kids. Easy to navigate, lots of different animals to see, and well maintained. It's great to see animals being preserved and people being educated. It's also right next to a ski slope, and within the park itself there are like obstacle courses for kids tbag makes it fun for kids to be engaged. We really enjoyed our visit.

First of all where do I start? I had a fantastic stay at the Wolf Hotel. From start to finish it was amazing! An unforgettable experience. Everybody was so kind from Jensen to Karin, and all the other staff I had the pleasure of meeting, thank you! Breakfast in the other hotel everyday was really yummy. It had everything you could want! I even ate there in the evening, it was delicious. Now for the hotel... I heard the wolves howling as soon as I walked in 😂.The room was super spacious, warm and very comfortable. I had everything I needed. The little kitchenette upstairs was very well equipped and clean. The whole property for cleanliness I would rate 10/10. I did venture into the zoo at night a little bit, it was snowing when I went and the whole atmosphere was magical. I saw all the animals!! (except the bears of course) The animals were so friendly and came up close so I was able to see the them all! The wolverines I think we're my FAVOURITE. I had never seen one before and they were so interactive and fun! Each animal was of course gorgeous! It was amazing to see them all. The wolves you can tell are so well looked after, from the fur to the size of them. I have been to other zoos in UK where they look thin and unhappy but not at Järvzoo. Each time I went past the wolf pen they came out and were very interested. The whole park is beautiful. I went at the start of November and I am so glad I did. There are so many things to discover. The town is very nice to walk around, the buildings are very quaint. I definitely fell in love with Sweden especially Järvzoo. I cannot wait to come back and hopefully soon! ❤️🐺🦊🦌

Great, well-maintained park with large animal enclosures and many picnic areas. Playground and 2 cafe/restaurant options onsite. Great views of the valley from many spots in the park. Tickets are not cheap but the place is well worth a visit.

A must visit place for the entire family.. Beautiful animal park built into the hillside forest. Good facilities inside the park and its just like an escape from everyday life.. Easy to spend 2-4 hours here in the summer months at least..

Järvzoo is a fantastic Nordic zoo set in a beautiful forest in the heart of Sweden. The sweeping boardwalk makes the experience much more natural as if you’re peering down into the habitat of animals in the wild. One thing to note is that some of the main attractions such as the bears will be hibernating during the colder winter months so make sure to plan your trip depending on what you’re hoping to see.

Museums
Jamtli is a captivating museum that offers a journey through local culture, spanning from the Viking era to native crafts and historic ways of life. Located just 1km north of the center, it comprises two parts: an open-air museum with meticulously reconstructed wooden buildings and enthusiastic guides in 19th-century period costumes, and an indoor museum housing the oldest European Overhogdal Tapestries and Christian Viking relics from AD 1100.
I went here in September and was pleasantly surprised by this museum. It was very large and had a lot of interactive exhibits for children and adults alike. I stayed for several hours and it was very cool to get to learn so much about this beautiful area.

Lovely authentic musuem both in summer and winter! They also organize markets once in a while, and especially their Christmas market is great. Great place to learn more about the history of Sweden and Jämtland

Jamtli is a wonderful open-air museum that beautifully brings history and culture to life. The exhibits are interactive and engaging, showcasing traditional Swedish life through buildings, artifacts, and live demonstrations. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate, making the experience educational and fun for all ages. It’s perfect for families, history lovers, and curious travelers. Jamtli offers a delightful blend of learning, storytelling, and authentic Scandinavian charm.

A must see for travelers. For a descendant of this region it was a joy to see the culture and history of my ancestors. The museum is very well thought out and executed, and contains much more than I had expected. Like almost everywhere, the staff spoke English and were very pleasant and accommodating. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

For kids who speak Swedish a fun museum I imagine. The downstairs area is interesting but completely in Swedish, an app they have available has translations but only partly. Not all features available in Swedish are available in English or German. The national museum partly has English information alongside Swedish. If you enjoy looking at your phone just as much as looking at the exhibits this might be for you.

Dalhalla is an extraordinary open-air amphitheater and music arena situated in a former limestone quarry in Rattvik. The venue boasts incredible acoustics, making it a popular spot for summer concerts featuring rock bands and operas. Surrounded by forest, animals, and a lake where the stage is set up, the setting provides a unique experience for concert-goers.
The most amazing venue I’ve even been to. I saw Avenged Sevenfold and everything was perfect: the sound, the stage and the atmosphere. Fun staff with the best attitude! The food in the food stands was not the best, but it was easy and fast to get and eat. The venue was AMAZING - ain’t nothing like anything I’ve ever seen before. Parking was cheap and very effective with clear instructions! - I would wish that the staff would be more clear with eg. exactly what time they will let people down to the pit/the seating area. However - this is nothing that takes away stars from the review.

Fabulous place, a once-in-a-lifetime experience that stays with you. For an outdoor concert location, you are unlikely to do better, at least in Sweden. The acoustics are unique but I imagine the mixer still had the job cut out for him. Chess in Concert was great but somewhat shrill in places.
Ari N — Google review
A lifetime experience. Surely the most spectacular venue I've ever been to. The forest all around worth a walk as well, especially if you're here in August and you like blueberries and mushrooms ☺️.

What an awesome place! It's in the middle of nowhere but the buses work wonderfully well, everything was super well organised and clear even for us, not speaking any of the language. I definitely recommend it, it's beautiful and the sound is incredible. Contrary to what they say on the website, you can bring a small bag. I saw most ladies with a small crossbody bag and I wish I had taken one too!

An exciting concert 'hall' in an old quarry. Adequate food stalls, drink bars and other facilities. The area was clean. The concert was excellent: acoustics and atmosphere in their own class.
Helinä P — Google review
Really nice venue in an old limestone quarry. Picturesque, but also well staffed and good infrastructure. There are never enough places to sit at venues, but there was a good bit of seating. Restrooms were nice, and there is a whole food court with lots of options. Great staff, and plenty of them. I recommend bug spray and a jacket - even in Summer. I also recommend the concert buses, well worth the price.
Laura L — Google review
Incredible beautiful concert location in Dalarna's län. An old quarry turned into a concert location, with space for as much as 6000 people. The acoustics are awesome, where ever you are, you hear the music clear as can be. The only (big) minus are the food and drink prices, which are scandalously high (around 20€ for a burger, 10€ for a half litre can of beer)... Maybe it was just with this concert (I saw Heilung perform their last ceremony there), but as you can't bring any food or drink, you will have to bring plenty of money (card only). And in a place as big as this there should be some spot for people who smoke, especially with concerts (the whole location is smoke free).

A network of slopes & lifts on 2 different mountains, with winter sports & a children's area.
Lots of lifts and a decent selection of slopes for skiers of all skill levels. Trail maintenance is done every morning. Ski rental is fast and professional. The cafes on the mountain tops are great and have wonderful views! At the beginning of some lifts there are houses to warm yourself and campfire sites to cook. Ski lifts usually operate from 9am to 4.30pm. A very nice place for a ski holiday!

Great Swedish ski resort and not to touristic. You can even see reindeers if you're lucky, can't wait for the planned expansions to make this even better. It's not Åre but the slopes are really nice!

A good week with limited amount of guests so fast queuing in the lifts. Some technical problems on the West but sunshine compensates. Supersmooth automation of ski passes and very good admin if queues.

Vemdalskalet – Great skiing in beautiful nature, but the architecture… Vemdalskalet offers a fantastic ski area with well-maintained slopes and stunning natural surroundings. The skiing experience is top-notch, and it’s easy to enjoy your time out on the mountain. However, the architecture in the area is surprisingly poor. Many of the buildings seem oddly designed, with questionable material choices, poorly painted facades, and uninviting entrances. It often feels like a case of “good intentions, bad execution.” The overall impression is unfortunately dragged down by what might be some of the most mismatched and aesthetically challenged buildings in Sweden — a real contrast to the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Orsa Grönklitt Björnpark is Europe's largest predator park located 16km north of Orsa, housing a variety of animals including polar bears, Kodiak bears, leopards, Amur tigers, lynx, wolves, red foxes and wolverines. The star attraction at the park are the fat-bottomed roly-poly bear cubs.
Very beautifully situated park with wild animals The park includes many large enclosures where the animals can feel at home. Nevertheless, you can experience boars, bears and others up close. The staff is friendly and we were able to learn interesting facts about the animals and their behaviour through their feedings. It was also noticeable that the animal keepers care deeply about their work with their animals. Highly recommended and very unique.

A rather unique park that focuses on Sweden's predators. Because of Corona the feeding moments were cancelled. A lot of information isn't translated in English, so as a tourist you loose a lot of information.

It was great experience to spend Christmas Day visiting this zoo,not so many crowds, but the animals are really active. Staff literally send gift boxes to the polar bear family,we saw the bears open their gift boxes and enjoy the snacks inside, full of joy. Tigers making love in snow😅,leopards doing patrol, wolves having family meeting… very wild, very fun!We almost view everyone except lynx, they are too shy.

Really great and wonderful park. Very well suited for families. The animals are quite easy to see. The surroundings and views are magnificent. There is a nice small exhibition in the entrance and playground places all around. No doubt 5/5.
Tica R — Google review
Wonderful wild animals park! Great feeling seeing these amazing animals so close to you :) There are many activities with animals e.g. we saw how they were feeding wolves. We also had lunch in the restaurant on top of a mountain with great view over the valley and Orsa lake. We spent the whole day in the park and want to come back again!
Julia Z — Google review
Fantastic wildlife park. We were here on the 31th of August (19 degrees) and it was not crowded at all, and all the animals were active and playing, either with food or playfighting with each other. We saw every animal species and even though the park is only 2 km of walking (hilly) we were there from 10.30-15.00h and were absolutely not bored at all (open from 10-15h). During feeding time, the zookeepers would answer all our questions and give very nice explanations about all the animals (very friendly people with a heart for animals). Yes the animal residences are very large so it might take you a while to find them, but think about the animals and be happy for them that they have enough space while you can still observe them from very beautiful viewing points. In conclusion: amazing park, beautiful animals held in good conditions, and a very nice way to spend your day.

If you're not into Zoo don't go. If you are, this would be one of the better zoo's you'll ever visit. Feeding moments were cancelled due to Corona, but we the animals have to be fed regardless and we were lucky enough to be there for one of those moments.

Really enjoyed the visit to the bear park. Even though it was drizzling most of the day, we have spotted almost all the animals there. There were brown bears, polar bears, wolves, owls, squirrel, tigers, Persian leapord, snow leapord and wolverine. We especially enjoyed the polar bears and the tigers. They were magnificent.

Theme Parks
Fairy tale-themed park with costumed characters & reindeer, plus musical & theatrical performances.
A great experience! There is a schedule with different story lines to catch, and stages built around the compound. We walked through the compound, consisting of lush forest and nature, to watch theatre performances in unique stage platforms. Extra special with the characters and performers interacting with kids throughout the day. Note: performances in Swedish:)
Kien P — Google review
Very interesting place, not quite what I was expecting. The main attractions were non-stop theatrical performances of a fairytale variety. There was not much else to do, like playgrounds or rides. The park is a bit hard to navigate if you have not been there previously. The tickets were pricey for what was on offer. The staff was very nice and interacted great with kids. However, the day we were there, hundreds of tiny frogs were hoping in a highly trafficked area, on their way somewhere. The park did nothing to alert visitors to their presence or divert traffic. I watched multiple park employees drive golf carts over the frogs. It was very heartbreaking to see. The park also has very limited shopping. Everything sold is mass-produced cheap imports, which have been marked up. There was nothing special from the park or local area. I would have actually spent money in the gift shop if there had been anything worth buying, like a t-shirt or a nice Christmas ornament. The dressup items for kids were very cute, though.
Katie — Google review
Nice themepark for small kids. Very good actors and singers. The shows are very nice even if they are in Swedish. The park is not that big though and there are no activities like rollercoasters or other. If you have smaller children, they will love it.

Have been there 2 times, 2021, 2022 for New year event. Super nice, all good attractive decorations and Christmas feeling. Friendly staff speaking in English and Swedish. One think do not forget its super cold there. Take additional layer of clothes. Should i go there next time? Sure Yes!
Shahriyar S — Google review
Very nice to be with children. Performances in the middle of the forest with fairy tales that are connected despite different sketches. This place is open all year. Just remember to dress yourself after the Swedish winter climate if you come that time of the year!!
Andreas F — Google review
Nice landscape, good actors, amazing singers and committed stuff, but just as boring as it could be for the parents who don't have children under 10 years old. Expensive coffee. To complete full series if all events you'll need two days.
Blesser — Google review
A "must" place if your kids are 3 - 10 years old and you are on the way to the Swedish mountains or just sightseeing Dalarna. Park is divided into few thematical parts, where both boys and girls should find something interesting. I look forward to coming there during the winter time. I've been to Kolmården, Astrid Lindgrens Värld and High Chaparral as well. Tomtelandet is smaller than each of them but definitely worth reserving one day during your vacation. I recommend.
Bartłomiej C — Google review
Overall Great place for kids to view some shows and interact with the actors before and after the shows. Shows Pretty short, approx 15 minute. You have to know Swedish to understand the story. Sometimes a bit repetitive when all of them contain some reference to the "Tomte kraft". The acting and singing is good, and the kids found the story intriguing. If your kids are easily scared some of the plays are a bit too much. In a few theaters there are now benches. Often it is possible for the kids to talk and interact with the actors after the play. Food Brought food since I've read that it was expensive. Took a photo of the fika menu and uploaded it here. Environment Everything is placed in the forest with is left as untouched as they possibly could while still building a theme park. Parking There is a big parking lot close to the entrance. Shouldn't be a problem to find a spot and it's free. Other For us one day was enough to see most of the park

Very beautiful area, lots to do. A lot of construction going on om the site. They should spend some time updating the cabins. They were really outdated and falling apart. This is really not acceptable. Because of the location still 3 stars. Paying €8 per day to access the swimming pool is also a real no no.
Jeroen T — Google review
Rafting: Although the staff were delightful and well prepared, the experience was rather disappointing. We weren't warned that we would have to drive for an hour to get to the spot when we booked. We had chosen the medium difficulty route, which turned out to be for beginners. On the whole route, there were maybe four/five very short sections with rapids, the rest was just paddling. Finally, the duration, intensity and length of the route were not worth the hour's drive mentioned above or the price charged. Not recommended.

Fulufjället National Park, located in the northwest of Dalarna county, is a newly designated park known for its vast lichen-covered landscapes and as the home of Old Tjikko, one of the world's oldest trees. The park features a stunning waterfall as its main attraction and offers well-maintained hiking trails with various color-coded paths to explore.
One of the best places I visited in my first Swedish summer of 2021. This is a great national park for a hike, walk or camping. Plan well and you'll have an amazing time.
Chirag S — Google review
Big, beautiful nature reserve — totally worth the 2.5-hour drive. This was our third time here, and it’s always fun to see the waterfall in different seasons.
DAK — Google review
Fulufjället National Park is one of the most peaceful and unspoiled natural areas I’ve ever visited. The landscape is striking — from dense, ancient spruce forests to the flat, wind-swept plateau that stretches for miles. It feels like stepping into a different time. The highlight for many is the hike to Njupeskär waterfall, the tallest in Sweden at 93 meters. The trail is very accessible, with wooden boardwalks and gentle terrain, making it great for both families and casual hikers. As you approach the falls, the roaring sound and rising mist through the cliffs are absolutely breathtaking. If you have more time and stamina, hiking beyond the waterfall up onto the Fulufjället plateau is a must. The terrain becomes more rugged and wild, with sweeping views and a unique alpine tundra environment. Up there, it’s incredibly quiet — you might walk for hours without seeing another person. It really gives you a feeling of solitude and freedom. The park is also home to Old Tjikko, a clonal spruce over 9,500 years old — believed to be the oldest living tree in the world. It’s a humbling reminder of how ancient this place truly is. Trails are well marked, and there are plenty of signs and resting areas. I’d also recommend stopping by Naturum Fulufjället, the visitor center, for maps, information, and a deeper understanding of the park’s geology and wildlife. If you’re looking for dramatic scenery, fresh air, and a genuine connection with nature — Fulufjället is perfect. Bring layers, good boots, and your sense of wonder
Subhadeep B — Google review
A beautiful natural environment. Very easily accessible with wooden routes. Climbing the mountain needs good shoes and stamina though. The waterfall is spectacular!

Beautifully maintained national park. Quite busy at the start towards the waterfall. If you hike the big loop up to the waterfall, you have great challenging routes with exits over rocks.
Vanessa S — Google review
10-12 minutes walk and you reach there… I went as close as 5 meters far from the waterfall. Best thing is either way you will get a round trip.
Salim — Google review
It is a wonderful place to bring someone you wish to enjoy a splendid scenery and wild bature with. The only thing that i feel saddens my heart is that as more people find their way here, the more crowded and littered with garbage it becomes. Foreign and sometimes domestic wanderers that do their needs to close or even on trails is just bad. I think that when natures treasures like this park becomes to accessable then it attracts more human presence than what is manageable. Cheers!
Dan L — Google review
We visited in the month of August. The temperature is ideal for a hike. It’s an easy & peaceful hike for around 2:30hrs to & fro. You can park your car free of charge. There is a restroom at the entrance of the national park. To reach Njupeskär Waterfall follow the orange path. It’s best to visit during summer as the hiking trail is dry and you get to witness the nature at it’s best.

SkiStar, Norge

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
SkiStar in Norge offers a range of services including ski lessons, tours, equipment rentals, and lodging options in a picturesque mountain area. The resort features the beloved snowman Valle as the main character in its children's concept, providing various fun activities for kids throughout the winter. While it may be smaller compared to other European resorts, SkiStar has its own unique charm and merits.
This was a great place for beginners. We had never skied before but thankfully there was lots of advice on hand and we could rent skis too. Sadly there were no places left for the ski school (book in advance if you can!) but our teens turned out to be naturals and had a blast on their own in the family area. The ski passes were very expensive since it was the start of the season and only two areas were open and we were given poor advice to start with. They have a centre which offers ‘tourist information’ and ‘guide’ services and as we had never skied before we were dependent on that advice. The guide knew we had never skied before but told us we would be fine on all the slopes that were open. At a cost of €350 who followed his advice. This was quite dangerous advice and thankfully they had a ski patrol who could rescue our stranded teens from the slope that wasn’t suitable for them at all🤦🏼‍♂️ Customer services were quite dismissive at first saying it was our choice but in the end did refund us some of the money recognising that for people who had never skied before only one area was really suitable and only a pass for that area was needed. So we give them credit for this and the excellent way they do maintain the area and offer support.

We’ve had positive experiences with SkiStar Trysil. I hadn’t skied in over 12 years after tearing my ACL and meniscus, and the fear had stayed with me ever since. Booking a ski instructor was the best decision I could have made. The instructors were incredibly kind, patient, and highly skilled, making me feel safe and confident on the slopes again. My niece and nephew attended ski school, which turned skiing into a great experience for them as well – something we’re truly grateful for.

All your vacation activities whether summer or winter or fall or spring are just conveniently at your reach. This is a must visit place when in the Skandinavia. Good proximity as people just drive from across Europe especially Sweden, Danmark etc for holiday camping. Remember to buy your day pass tickets online to get it cheaper. There are good accommodation options from camping homes to first class resorts. Shopping centre is available right at the place in addition regular glossary shops like Rema 100, Kiwi are just 1.4km away in Trysil downtown or city center. One suggestion is to compliment the facilities with more modern ones with good finish even if it is to blend into and protect the natural environment.

Its only entrance and parking place if you dont live in Skistar village. Parking was always full. Lifts are too crowded. There is some bars and 2 ski shops.

Great ski resort with reasonably large amount of lifts and slopes. One of the largest in Norway. Good kid friendly /lifts/slopes at the bottom. Additionally some nice cafeterias to have lunch in between runs. Also located at a place where there's usually good snow conditions.

Fantastic ski resort overall. In some areas there are only T-bars instead of chairlifts, which I'm not very fond of

Absolutely amazing. High mountains, great slopes. And we had absolutely stunning sun. Almost no people around due to Covid. No problem to keep you distance. Felt totally safe

Skistar lodge offered comfort at all levels, beautifully presented, wonderful food and a fabulous outlook. A short scenic ride from the Scandinavian Mountains Airport allowed us to relax from touch down to the first lift. Excellent ski in ski out locker room facilities, wonderfully stocked ski hire shop with helpful staff. Although an uplift charge, the spa offered the perfect post piste relaxation station. The hotel staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. 10/10, we will be back.

The museum is one of the best in Norway. The ongoing "Wolf at the door" exhibition is just amazing and a great conservation initiative illustrating how museums are relevant todayin discussing and presenting difficult yet crucial conversations. The curators are amazing and willing to interact. I interacted with Elizabet and Elisa (?) - incredible professionals.

Very informative and educating. The museum's exhibition design is very well done. I was impressed how much information was conveyed in a great variety.

A very nice museum covering the different aspects of forestry including hunting, fishing, etc. and the development / evolution in this sector over the years. The museum is ideally located next the river Glomma and beautiful surrounding. Week kept museum with very interesting indoor and outdoor exhibitions A fun and informative place about nature and culture for kids and adults. A very good restaurant on the premises. Worth the visit if you are around.

The collection of stuffed animals is impressive. The museum gives a huge amount of knowledge about everything that connects to forest: from nature to culture. Definitely a must see when you are around. I'd say 3 hours sightseeing should be enough. If there only were some nice souvenirs in the museum shop: I couldnt find anything special for gifts :/

I experienced a rebirth there, felt after going out that the world was most certainly less miserable. My body has never been treated this good while I was treated so nicely by the waiter. For around 25€, you have access to the spa, sauna hammam, hot seats, cold/hot rain showers, relaxation waterfall room, massaging bath, outside bubble bath, 7° cold bath, free coffee and tea, smiling and lovely crew... Don't be afraid by the first corridor to get to the changing rooms, it's just the purgatory before heaven! Bring your swimsuit and your towel and you're good to live a really nice moment!

Hello. Please introduce a rule for pool visitors to wear swimming caps! It's very disgusting when women's hair floats in the pool! This same hair then clogs the filter in the pool, keep this in mind! And please heat the water in the large pool, such cold water makes it unbearable to swim!!! In a small pool the water is warm, but a huge number of people and children gather in a small pool because of this it becomes very crowded and the water quickly becomes dirty and cloudy! Please fix all this so that me and my family can feel comfortable and pleasant coming and relaxing in this place! We pay money and not small sums for entry, so we want comfort and clean, warm water in a large pool, and without women’s hair.

We have been on a two week football tour around Norway with 17 young lads. Everywhere we have been everyone has been so accommodating except this Ankerskogen. They refused to let us in despite prior agreement for our contact to pay. We even offered to pay over the phone but the girl working there was having none of it. We intended to purchase treatments and lunch there - they have lost out on business. Sort out your customer service e

Museums
Domkirkeodden is a captivating destination that beautifully intertwines medieval history with modern experiences. This outdoor museum showcases an impressive collection of historical buildings from Hedmark villages, alongside the stunning ruins of an ancient cathedral and bishop's castle, all sheltered under a striking glass structure. The atmosphere here is truly enchanting; I had the pleasure of attending a midnight concert that felt almost magical amidst the historic backdrop. Visitors can explore these remarkable ruins while enjoying various family-friendly activities in the surrounding park-like setting.
Today my father and I visited the Domkirkeodden. What a sight to see! To enter you have to buy a ticket for about 140 NOK. (€11,70) They have a great staff and you can see some of them walking in historical clothing which gives a nice touch in my opinion! Everything is behind glass for better preservation. Some items are even monitored with temperature and humidity meters. Also, they have information flyers in multiple languages. They have Norwegian, English, German and even Dutch which was perfect for my father. (We are from the Netherlands) I feel honored to have walked through the ruins of what was once a beautiful church! Thank you, people and staff for preserving and showing this amazing piece of history!
Michel T — Google review
Although Domkirkeodden was closed for renovation during my visit, I still enjoyed experiencing it from the outside. The ruins, set against the serene landscape, carry a deep historical weight. I was particularly moved by their connection to the Reformation—this place serves as a powerful reminder of the cost of change and the sacrifices made for the values we cherish today. The way the ruins are protected with structured glass is especially symbolic—it shows a commitment to preserving history, ensuring that we do not forget the past. A meaningful site that invites reflection. Hope to visit again when it reopens!
Jeffrey S — Google review
It was an interesting place and our guide did an excellent job explaining the history on the site to us. The glass enclosure was a very resourceful idea and the acoustics inside were perfect.
Quercus R — Google review
Was nice, we could see the historic walls of the fort. Previously you were supposed to be able to go in the protective enclosure of the cathedral but birds broke the glass so we couldn't. You could still view it from the outside. There also is a small historic artifact museum in the museum. The area is a medieval fort and market that was blown up by the Swedes. (Darn YOU SWEDEN!) Definitely worth seeing and I hope they continue to improve the site as part of it is currently under construction. This was my 10 year old son's favorite site in Norway.
W H — Google review
Its all very interesting but i dont like that you have to pay to get inside to see it (so we didn't). But it also looks quite cool from the outside. Theres also alot of field, old houses and a mini 'beach' around it. Lovely views. Theres parking outside where you normally have to pay but it wasnt working when we went. There was also a mini truck with ice cream and waffles. I didnt see any toilets.
Kristy F — Google review
Beautifully preserved remains of the church. Great acoustics
Inga M — Google review
Really cool and interesting place! Seeing the old ruins and connecting the history of the place is fascinating. The modern additions to the building bridge the modern with the ancient in a way that even though you know it's modern it doesn't detract from the history. My family very much enjoyed our visit here, and the walk to the railroad museum.

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting Museum Eidsvoll 1814, and we are really grateful for our guide. His enthusiastic and engaging tour made our experience truly remarkable. He answered all our questions with patience and depth, making the history accessible and fascinating. His passion was so infectious that even our 6-month-old baby seemed captivated! Thank you once again for this wonderful experience. We highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in history, and we wish the museum continued success in sharing Norway's heritages.

Eidsvoll Manor, located at 30 minutes by car from Oslo, is the place where the Constitution of Norway was signed in 1814. The building was first constructed ca. 1770. As it stands today, the manor is the result of an extensive renovation and modernization in the years around 1800 by Carsten Anker. In 1814, the Constitution of Norway was signed at Eidsvoll on May 17. The Manor can be visited nowadays and within the location you can serve a frugal lunch consisting of sandwiches, muffins and waffles. Also, there is a souvenir shop in the cafeteria where you can buy various objects from umbrellas to quill pen, similar with the one that the Constitution was signed.

The monumental place for modern day Norway. Buildings and surrounding are very well preserved. Quiet place with a small park to walk and relax, which is kinda unique in this part of Norway. Shame that Norway is funding schools and other cultural buildings and events around the globe but can't find a way to make fee-free entrance to such a monumental museum in own courtyard.
Vlada I — Google review
Eidsvoll 1814 has been on my wishlist of places to go for about four years. That is when I learned that my 3x great grandfather was one of 112 Eidsvollmenn who drafted and signed the Norwegian Constitution. After booking a 12-day tour to "Majestic Norway" a couple months prior, I then arranged for a tour of Eidsvoll 1814 to learn more about my paternal ancestor and the place he traveled to over 200 years earlier to change the course of Norwegian hisory. The very afternoon that I landed and deplaned in Oslo, I boarded a train to Eidsvoll Verk then a public bus to Eidsvoll 1814. When I arrived on the site of the ironworks, tour guide Mikaela was just finishing up with a group so I sat in the contemporary Kafe Standpunkt, which overlooks a waterway, to rest and enjoy a beverage. Upon entering Eidsvoll Manor (built circa 1770), Mikaela and I put booties on over our footwear to protect the floors of the historic building. From there, Mikaela guided me room to room and floor to floor while talking about the history of Eidsvoll and the purpose of each room. She also told me a few stories about my 3x gg who was a farmer and served as sheriff of Valle in Setesdal for 50 years. The furnishings and overall decor in the main part of the house are sumptuous. The servants' quarters are plain but, except for the noise from the old Ironworks, it was a large, comfortable home for those who worked and lived there. Visiting Eidsvoll 1814 was a highlight of my first visit to Norway. Thank you to all the staff who helped make my dream come true.

What a wonderful lake! There is a sandy beach near the main entrance, equipped with a diving board, a rail to help one walk into the water, and even proper bathrooms. There are areas you can BBQ/grill, several benches all around the lake, and well placed waste bins near the entrance. You'll find a beach volleyball court and an outdoor gym near the lower, larger parking lot. There is a ton of space for picnics or sun tanning on the grass around the beach itself. A beautiful main trail goes around the lake, with additional free trails in the forest area. Definitely worth a visit! 😃🐾🌳

Great great lake with a very nice path to go around and enjoy it. The walk takes 30' in moderate pace, there are two beaches, a waffle shop, toilets, benches to sit and enjoy the still waters, kind people walking and enough parking, although, JUST barely as of late, Jessheim is growing. A great lake for our small city 😍

Lysgårdsbakkene Hoppanlegg is a ski jumping center in Lillehammer, known for hosting top-tier athletic events throughout the year. Situated around 1.5km at the top of Lilyhammer, it offers a magnificent view of the lake below and holds historical significance as the site where the flame burned bright during the 1994 Winter Olympics.
Great little historical side stop on the way to wherever you are headed! We walked the 800+ steps to the top. The view was phenomenal! It was our first time seeing a ski jump in person so it was really interesting.
Jarrod S — Google review
There are two ski jumping slopes. They were used in the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Now they are in regular use, mostly in winter competitions and practice. In summer they have ski lifts that take you up for the views, and the views from the top are amazing. There's a small shop which has gifts and snacks. It's very close to the town of Lillehammer.
Dipak O — Google review
🥇 Lillehammer hosted the first “eco-friendly” Olympic Games in history During the 1994 Winter Olympics, Lillehammer became the first host city to focus heavily on environmental protection: • all venues were built to minimize damage to nature; • the Olympic Village used eco-friendly materials; • the city planted tens of thousands of trees to compensate for its environmental impact. That’s why the 1994 Games are often called “the most environmentally friendly Olympics ever.” 🌲🏔️

30 minutes on foot from the city center. Two ski jumps with 936 steps leading to the top. It’s worth going because the view of the Lillehammer area is stunning.
Mihaela M — Google review
Definitely a place worth visiting in Lillehammer. Full of sports nostalgia and stunning views. From the town center there’s a long uphill walk to the spectator area, and from there about 900 steps to the top of the ski jump. In August 2025 the chairlifts were not operating. Descending the stairs is not recommended if you’re afraid of heights.
Taneli D — Google review
We didn’t know what to expect from visiting this site & was even going to skip it. Glad we didn’t, it was fascinating to see how steep & far the jumps went & it’s one hell of a climb to the top, but the views are worth it.

This is the Ski Jumping Arena of the 1994 Winter Olympics. We stopped here for a quick visit and enjoyed the view even without climbing to the top of the run. The lifts weren’t operating and we didn’t have enough time to climb up to the top of the run.

Super fun and lot to see for childrens. Our child is just above 100cm, but still he could enjoy most of the rides. You can easily spend whole day here. Lots of people so you have to queue some time on some of the rides.

Best park for kids! My datter has been her two time when she was 5 years old and now 7 years olds. There are many rides for kids between 90 - 110 cm with adults. She love car driving and they will get child drivers license. You can bring your own food to grill and pay for the grill kr 25,-. You can also borrow trillevogn for kr 50,-. The parking costs kr 75,- a day.

I would highly recommend this park for a day trip, particularly to families with younger children. Our four-year-old had an absolute blast. You should also put Reodor Helgen’s hyperaccelerator on your to-do list of rides – it’s worth waiting in line for! 😀

Had a wonderful visit for my son’s 8th birthday. It’s a bit of a faff via public transport (the route over the dam for the 142 bus is closed) but well worth the trip. Everything was in really good condition and thoughtfully organised. We were there on a quiet day and some of the rides had no queues - the staff very kindly let us stay on for a second time around. We brought our own lunches but grills and cafes seemed nice. The Energy Centre was particularly good.

Nice to experience, a good variety of activities for kids. Updated 12/07/22 The experience was almost OK. There was a mishap and i expected it to be handled way better for a Park that charges over 50dollars per person for entry. Expensive, period! There are actually not that many rides in this park for people over 140. Don't bring bigger kids here expecting them to be able to have the best of rides available. For some rides you cannot go on with sandals...Wear sneakers, too much to ask really, especially in the summer tbh Funny thing is, we did go on them (unknowingly) but no one said anything. You also have to pay extra to go climbing. Best to go to Tusenfryd or Liseberg in Gøteborg to be honest!

Maihaugen is a renowned open-air museum in Lillehammer, Norway, showcasing traditional Norwegian buildings that depict rural, urban, and home life from the 1400s to the present day. With over 200 buildings divided into the Rural Section, Historic Town, and Residential Area, visitors can immerse themselves in Norway's cultural heritage. Families with children will find it especially enjoyable. The museum offers a captivating journey through time and provides insight into Norwegian history and architecture.
I had a great time visiting Maihaugen—it's a fantastic place to spend quality time with family. This was my second visit in three years. The museum takes you on a journey through Norway’s cultural and architectural history, from old villages to modern towns. The actors at various locations were friendly and informative—we had a fun time chatting with them. Kids will enjoy the pools, ducks, and other animals around the area. It's a good idea to bring some snacks so you can sit and relax in one of the many scenic spots. They do have a cafeteria in there as well. The Olympic Museum and Postal Museum are also located within the same enclosure and are definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic afternoon of walking and discovering the area! You could spend hours here, so wear walking shoes! Even have a picnic or grab a meal in the cafe. The indoor exhibitions are just as great as the outside exhibitions. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Beautiful village but also a bunch of other random indoor museums inside. Its not as interactive as it could be, but still great to see. I didn't have kids with me but there seemed to be a few indoor play areas with toys and outdoor. Uneven walking around the edges on paths but big wide paths as well!

Possibly one of the best Museums I've ever been to. It's a large complex of multiple museums and open air exhibits spread over a vast area. It took me 5 hours just to rush through most of the stuff while skipping much.

Sprawling museum with a variety of exhibits, both indoor and outdoor. Reasonable admission price based on how much there is to see. Well maintained facility and grounds, helpful map provided on how to navigate.
Sarah H — Google review
Here’s the translation: ⸻ The museum itself is great! Interesting outdoor exhibits, but the opening hours policy is poor – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We didn’t manage to thoroughly see all three museums. In the end, we rushed through the Olympic one and didn’t have time to calmly buy souvenirs. Also, many outdoor objects were closed. All in all, good, but it could have been better. It gets crowded from 11 onwards because organized groups arrive as well.
Mihaela M — Google review
Our group of 9 attended a wonderful guided tour of a historial Norwegian farm, which is smaller than a town but larger than a one family living area. The typical home includes a centrla fire area in a wooden structure. The schoolhousr is several school benches with long writing desks for students of all ages where they learned religion and reading. The central church is closed today. The excellent guide even gave us a school lesson on the small blackboards. As we headed to the interior museum, we passed by a gift shop with scarves, Norway souvenirs, journals with Norway decor, and of course, Trolls, trolls, and more Trolls. JaBaDaBaDo toys are 5% off. The inside museum shows the history of the resilent Norwegian throughout history. A special exhibit open until November highlights dance in Norway, including folk dances, swing dance, ballroom, tango, rap, hip hop with a don’t-be-shy interactive opportunity. The attention to historic events and their role in Norway’s path to a stronger nation. The years of German occupation, changing relations with other Scandinavian nations, and immirgation are summed up in displays and videos. All videos and signs are in Norwegian and many in English. Signs are legible and readble. The section that pays tribute to UNESCO sites is impressive with intention to preserve the world’s environment. Excellent museum that gives a memorable summary of Norway and Norwegians.

This is an amazing museum with well preserved buildings sharing the history of life in Norway. We only had time for The Rural Area and wished we were able to see the Town and Residential areas as well. But, it was incredible and beautiful. We even got to see inside the old buildings and how they were furnished. The grounds are beautiful. We learned how the museum was thought of and built as well as how people lived a very long time ago! The museum is over 100 years old!! This is a must-see while in Lillehammer and make sure you allow plenty of time to see the whole thing, including the Olympic Museum (included in your admission).

The slides and pools were great and fun for kids, but we felt the spa options were quite limited—especially for toddlers. Hairdryers were weak, so it's a good idea to bring your own. Sauna choices were fewer than expected, and the showers felt a bit awkward. Since we visited during the holidays, it was very crowded, and the changing rooms were often messy—understandably, as not everyone cleaned up after themselves.

But less staffs and unable to contact them at ease. Overall excellent place.

Great place to visit with families, swing, eat, relax, spa. Much fun for the kids. Nice service. Like the new lock system. No need to bring own lock. You might have problems if you forgot something and need to exit building due to the new lock. But not a problem. The price is a bit high for a family to visit, unfortunately. Go a bit later to avoid crowded guests. Will be back☺ hope they will set the price lower for families.

I was disappointed to visit this swimming pool. The whole complex looks rather old, not modern at all, starting with lockers and showers, to the three tube-slides and the pool itself, with not very clean and clear water, no tiles on the walls or bottom of the pool. Lots of children visiting the pool (main one, unfortunately) and jumping into it from the springboards and the diving tower, making a lot of noise and blocking all lanes but ONE for those who want to swim. After kids are gone, still only two lanes are available for swimming. The two saunas (one dry and one damp) do work, but again, are old-fashioned and not really pleasant to visit. There is a nice warm-water small pool and a Jacuzzi outdoors, worth recommending, though.

Honestly best pool for kids and grow ups, i haven't found such fun pools in Oslo area, everything you need they have, highly recommend to try at least once with family.

A very, very bad, disgusting, terrible service. The entire area is run-down and neglected. They charge a lot of money. Half of the equipment doesn't work. The foot baths often don't work. There are often technical issues. Things are often closed. I do not recommend it. Very bad service.
