Just returned from a 7 Day Driftwood Tour by Vagabond and had to let everyone know that this is one of the best ways to tour Ireland. We had decided on where we wanted to go in Ireland and when I came upon Vagabond Tours, they had the exact tour that we planned and Vagabond caters to small groups which was the icing on the cake. Our tour operator, Steve, was super. He's very knowledgeable of Ireland's history, you could feel his passion for his country and he was so entertaining and funny!! He knew we had a lot of movie buffs on our tour so he made sure to point out all the locations of where movies where filmed, especially Ryan's Daughter and the Quiet Man. They made our hotel arrangements for us and most of dinner reservations. The hotels and restaurants were all great. Pre-tour communication was awesome, they let us know where we needed to make our own dinner reservations, if necessary, and kept us apprised of any changes in the hotel situations or tour info. I highly recommend using Vagabond Tours. I'm hoping to make a return visit and will definitely book them when I do.

We recently returned from the 11-day Ireland Driftwood Tour with Vagabond, and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. Our tour guide, Damien, deserves an 11 out of 10! His knowledge of Ireland’s history, culture, and hidden gems was incredible—he seemed to know everything there is to know about this beautiful country. Damien went above and beyond by recommending fantastic places to eat, listen to live Irish music, and even taking us to extra stops that weren’t on the itinerary. What made the experience even better was his personality—his humor, quick wit, and great storytelling kept us laughing the entire trip. Our group of 12 couldn’t have asked for a better guide or a better time together. Ireland itself is breathtaking, with its rolling green hills, charming farms, ancient castles, and stunning views. I can absolutely see why everyone falls in love with this country, and having Damien as our guide made the whole journey even more special. We highly recommend Vagabond Tours and especially Damien—you won’t be disappointed!

We loved our Vagabond 5-Day Edge of the World Tour with Denise! We usually plan every aspect of our trips, but this time we decided to sit back and let Vagabond handle the details—and we’re so glad we did. The small group size was a great fit for us; it gave us a chance to really get to know everyone and feel like our voices mattered. We especially appreciated the personalized touches, like suggestions for where to go in Dingle and Killarney, and even making a group dinner reservation knowing options were limited in Spanish Point. The itinerary struck the right balance: we saw iconic landmarks like the Cliffs of Moher, but also discovered hidden gems and charming inns we’d may never have chosen or known on our own. Highlights included the Sheep Dog Demo at Bridget and Shamus’s, exploring the Dingle town, getting to know our group and horseback riding up a mountain with breathtaking views of the Dingle Coast—a truly magical experience. Our guide, Denise, was phenomenal. Her driving skills were impressive, her stories and historical insights fascinating and witty, and her attention to detail made the trip seamless. She’s awesome! We couldn’t have asked for a better group, itinerary, or guide. This tour gave us fabulous destinations, memorable experiences, and new friends along the way.

I took the Driftwood 11 Day Discover Ireland Tour with Dave as our guide & driver. It was a fantastic tour with added stories, recommendations and historical facts from our amazing guide. All the hotels were top rate with excellent service. The coastal views, castles, pubs and people were so beautiful that I fell in love with Ireland completely. I recommend using Vagabond for your Ireland vacation. I was traveling solo and liked being part of a small travel group.

Our 12-day Vagabond Giant Irish Adventure was nothing short of amazing, and a huge part of that was thanks to our incredible guide Jasper. Jasper kept everything organized and on time, while also making sure we laughed and just soaked up the beauty of Ireland. Jasper’s deep knowledge of Irish history and culture brought every stop to life. What stood out most was how much Jasper truly cared about everyone on the tour. He was attentive to every detail and always went the extra mile to make sure our hotels, restaurants, tour activities and options were ready to receive our group. By the end of the 12 days, it didn’t feel like we were just saying goodbye to a guide, but to a friend who brought a group of people from three different places together for an unforgettable experience.

Our 12 Day Giant Irish Adventure was One of the most amazing trips! Wonderful landscapes and the People that we met were very interesting and kind. But I would have to say that what made this trip so amazing was our Guide, Jasper! He was very accommodating and a joy to spend time with. He lead us to some of the most amazing places in Ireland.

There aren't enough words in the English (or Irish) language to describe how magnificent this tour was! I've been to Ireland three times now, but it was Vagabond Tours that made me truly fall in love with this magical country. My Mom and I had the great pleasure of taking the new 12-Day Wild Coasts & Clover Tour (we were on their second trip). The itinerary was expertly curated to be a perfect blend of history, nature, and local culture. It was what I call a "Stroll and Roll" style tour, where you're driven through gorgeous countryside and colorful villages between your daily stops. Each day was filled with a range of activities, from abbey ruins and sacred mountains to stunning beaches and idyllic villages. No day was too busy nor activity too strenuous, even for our most senior fellow travelers. Having several 2-night stays was also key. This allowed our group to relax in the evenings and enjoy the beautiful accommodations. Some were in town, while others were situated out on their own. All were lovely and quite comfortable. While the tour itself was incredible, what made this tour tops in my book was our guide, Jason. His years of experience as a tour and nature guide shone through, elevating what was already a great experience to one of true delight. He regaled us with his deep knowledge of Irish history, lore, and nature. His kind and calm nature made everyone feel well cared for, allowing us all to sit back and enjoy the entire experience. He was also the absolute sweetest with my Mom, which truly touched my heart and made our Mother-Daughter trip all the more special. In addition to all this, the synergy felt between my fellow travelers made this trip feel more like a family vacation (in the best way) rather than a random group of strangers. From the outset, we all became fast friends who genuinely enjoyed each other's company. We even refused to get off the van at the end because we didn't want the magic to end! This, I found out, was no lucky occurrence. Nearly half of our group were on their third Vagabond tour, and they didn't even know one another! A true testament to both Vagabond and its customers. There is definitely something special about this company, and I will be forever grateful for having toured with them. To say that I recommend traveling with Vagabond Tours is an understatement - BOOK YOUR TRIP. You're in for an experience you will never forget!

I went on the 7-Day Castles and Kingdoms tour with my mom and sister, and I can’t recommend Vagabond highly enough! From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and thoughtfully organized. We received timely updates and clear communication before the trip, and once we were on the road everything ran so smoothly thanks to the wonderful staff and our amazing guide. The itinerary was fantastic, every location we visited and every hotel we stayed in exceeded expectations. Traveling in a small group turned out to be a huge highlight, as it gave us the chance to really connect and share the experience together. Our guide, Phillip, deserves a special mention. He was funny, patient, deeply knowledgeable, and just an all-around great person to travel with. He truly made the trip unforgettable, thank you, Phillip! If you’re able to request a guide, do yourself a favor and ask for him. Even the van itself was a pleasure; comfortable, clean, and perfect for the journey. Overall, Vagabond delivered on every level and gave us memories we’ll always cherish.

Powerscourt Waterfall

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Powerscourt Waterfall is a magnificent 398-ft. cascade located in the mountain foothills of Wicklow. The area is home to ancient trees, sika deer, and diverse birdlife. A well-kept trail leads visitors to this stunning horsetail waterfall, which is set on privately-owned land but offers facilities such as a playground and picnic area at the base of the falls for an entry fee.
A Must-Visit Natural Wonder in Wicklow! Powerscourt Waterfall is an absolutely breathtaking spot and easily one of the highlights of a trip to Wicklow. Nestled within a beautiful woodland setting, the waterfall stands tall and majestic, cascading down gracefully with a soothing roar that you can hear before you even see it. It’s Ireland’s highest waterfall, and standing at the base really gives you a sense of its scale and power. The surrounding parkland is just as captivating — lush greenery, ancient trees, and plenty of open space to explore or simply relax with a picnic. It’s an ideal place for families, couples, or anyone just wanting a peaceful escape into nature. The atmosphere is incredibly calm, with plenty of walking trails and spots to enjoy the fresh air. Another bonus is how well-maintained the facilities are. There’s good parking, picnic areas, and amenities, which makes the whole visit smooth and comfortable without taking away from the natural charm. Overall, Powerscourt Waterfall is a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility. Whether you’re visiting the Powerscourt Estate or driving through Wicklow, this spot is simply unmissable. A true gem of Ireland!

It's suitable for picnics with many people and a good place for children to play. There are ice cream, hot dogs, French fries and other fast food. There are plenty of parking spaces. It's a good place to take pictures of waterfalls and play in the water. However, the mobile phone signal is weak after entering the mountainous area, so it is recommended to download an offline map!

Really quite a nice park with charcoal grills for use. Charcoal and lighters are sold at an onsite snack bar / coffee shop which also has two souvenir machines (one selling “medallions” for 2 euro and another for pressing pennies). Be aware that you will need to drive a fairly narrow two-way road from the front gate to the parking lot. The admission for two adults was 15 euro which seemed steep at first but I think that you could definitely get your value out of it for a group grillout. There is also a waterfall.
Daniel S — Google review
Visited Powerscourt Waterfall and honestly, the best part is how close it is to the city while still feeling completely secluded. It’s a beautiful spot, perfect for a family picnic or a quick getaway from the noise of Dublin. The scenery is stunning and really worth the trip just make sure to go on a good-weather day to enjoy it fully.
Pratik S — Google review
Visited Powerscourt Waterfall on a weekend afternoon with the family and it was absolutely beautiful. The waterfall is Ireland’s highest and truly a sight to behold—surrounded by peaceful woodland and perfect for a relaxing stroll or picnic. There’s plenty of space for kids to run around, and the facilities were clean and well-kept. It is a private property owned and maintained by a wonderful family. There's plenty of options for doing a barbecue and you will be asked while entering the facility if you wish to do barbecue or not. If yes then there are additional charges for it. The entry ticket to this place has different prices for adults, kids and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or can be purchased at the gate too. There's also combo price for families. They also sell freshly produced honey which are produced in bee hives inside the estate. There's a huge children's play area inside. There is plenty of parking spaces for more than 70 cars at any given time. There's also a shop where you can buy fast foods for a quick bite. There is toilet facilities just besides the children's play area. The best option is to plan to spend the entire day here with family and friends doing a picnic. It’s a great spot to unwind, enjoy nature, and take some amazing photos. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking for a scenic day out near Dublin!

• 🌊 Height: At 121 meters (398 ft), it’s the tallest waterfall in Ireland. • 🌲 Scenery: Surrounded by ancient oak, beech, larch, and pine trees, it feels like stepping into a fairytale forest. • 🦌 Wildlife: The area is home to red squirrels, fallow deer, and a variety of bird species. • 🎒 Activities: Great for walking, picnics, or just relaxing with the sound of rushing water. Families often visit with children, and it’s also a favorite spot for photographers. • 💡 Tip: The waterfall is within the Powerscourt Estate but has a separate entrance and admission fee. It’s best visited on a clear day to enjoy the views, and mornings are quieter if you want to avoid crowds.
Huang H — Google review
A must see, was very surprised to be charged an entry fee to see the waterfall, but it was beautiful. We are happy we went!
Jane M — Google review
We had the most wonderful day at Powerscourt Waterfall! It’s an absolutely stunning location and perfectly set up for a fantastic family outing. First off, the practicalities: Yes, there is an entry ticket to get in, but it is well worth the fee for access to such a beautiful and well-maintained area. There is plenty of car parking available close to the main picnic spots, which is very convenient. Clean toilet facilities are also on-site, which is always a bonus. The waterfall itself is the main event, and it is truly breathtaking. As Ireland's highest waterfall, it's an incredibly impressive sight cascading down the rocks, and it provides a fantastic backdrop for the whole area. What makes this place a 5-star destination for us are the brilliant family-friendly facilities. The kids absolutely loved the play area and had a great time running around. Best of all, this is the perfect spot for a barbecue! There are lots of open, grassy areas where you can set up for the day, and many families were enjoying a full cookout, which created a really lovely, relaxed atmosphere. A top-tier attraction for a brilliant day out in nature. Highly recommended!

Bray Head Cliff Walk is a 7-kilometer coastal trail that connects Bray and Greystones, offering breathtaking views of the Irish Sea and Wicklow Mountains. The walk features historical ruins, colorful flowers, and abundant wildlife, including the chance to spot dolphins on clear days. This moderate-grade trek is best suited for fit adults or families with older children. The highlight of Bray Head, rising 791 feet above sea level, offers an opportunity for a rewarding hike to the top.
On a sunny day this is a great spot for a hike.. actually tbf iv been here on a cloudy day too but it was low cloud that came in and covered bray and we were above it so to be fair sometimes cloudy days are also great. First part is steep enough but not long then the rest of the bray head loop is fairly even and flat
Morgan M — Google review
Only a small portion of the hike is open at the moment--maybe 1km? It's still a nice walk down to the closed off section. The views are quite lovely. There are still a handful of picnic tables throughout the path that would be nice for a bite or a rest. I really hope they get it fixed soon.
Ike I — Google review
Absolutely stunning walk with breathtaking views! The Bray Cliff Walk is a must-do if you're in the area. Starting from Newcourt, the trail is well-marked and fairly easy, making it perfect for all fitness levels. You'll be treated to panoramic views of the Irish Sea, rugged cliffs, and even some wildlife if you're lucky. It can get windy, so bring a light jacket, and wear comfortable shoes—parts of the path can be uneven. Great for a peaceful solo walk, a day out with friends, or even a casual date. Highly recommend timing it around sunset for that extra wow factor! There are a lot of amenities for play, food and entertainment. Huge car park, free on Sundays. If you’re lucky over the long weekends you might able to ride fun fair to enjoy with your kids. Many picnic tables and spots, for a perfect picnic out with your loved ones.
Nipuni S — Google review
Worth the walk and quite the view! Best to wear good shoes for a strenuous walk with a vertical accent and decent. It gets warm toward the top on a sunny day. Consider wearing layers.
Max — Google review
Very nice walk which can be adapted in disitance with different routes and there's even 2 small mountains with great panoramic views if you go just a little 5 mins detour!
Nadine K — Google review
• Bray Head Cross – A short but steep hike up from the Bray end gives panoramic views of the Irish Sea, Bray town, and the Wicklow Mountains. • Cliff Views – The trail hugs the coastline, with dramatic sea cliffs, seabirds, and sometimes even dolphins offshore. • Greystones – Lovely seaside town at the end of the walk with cafes, restaurants, and a DART station for the return trip.
Huang H — Google review
Bray head offers some superb views all across Dublin bay, its a nice climb and the cross at the summit offer even more lovely walks and from higher up you get better views all 360 of Dublin, Shankill, Dalkey, Wicklow and the little and large Sugarloaf, cheers

Aviva Stadium is a remarkable venue located in the heart of Dublin, designed to host international rugby and football matches. Opened in 2010, this modern stadium features an eye-catching glass end and boasts an environmentally friendly design that reflects innovative architectural ideas from around the globe. It serves as a proud home for Ireland's national teams and has become a hub for thrilling sporting events.
Unreal atmosphere at Ireland v Portugal. Winning 2 nil was great. Real buzz at the Irish goal end. Great stadium in the heart of D4. Short walk to Slatterys of Beggar's Bush for pints.

Good stadium, came here many years ago for a Six Nations game but this trip was for the B&I Lions v Argentina. Stadium is an impressive place, good views even from high up. Decent pubs and places to eat nearby.
Julian P — Google review
We attended an Irish rugby match at the Aviva Stadium. Quick and easy entry. Great view from our seats. Food options are extremely limited. Our friend lost her bag here & some staff were not helpful but ultimately were able to help locate & return her items. Fine for an athletic stadium.
Terrell — Google review
Great experience and really good seats. Some stewards were a bit hostile on the way in which I understand they have to be sometimes but found it slightly unwelcoming. Apart from that a great day out despite the loss
Adam G — Google review
Aviva Stadium was a great venue to watch a match. The crowd was lively and pitch looked great. Make sure you enter the correct entrance. Being used to stadiums in the US the food and beverage options are very limited. Wide concourses make them easy to navigate. Seats were comfortable.

First time watching live football and don’t know what to expect but surely it’s a great experience. Easy to get to and staff is helpful to guide us. The food and drinks are decent, toilet is clean. Great crowd for friendly match - Leeds United vs AC Milan 🤘

Went to see Lana Del Rae and was impressed. As a venue it was my first time. From start to finish it was excellent. Straight in through the correct gate up to our seat. Bar behind us and food also. No queues for toilets , food or drink. And as for leaving it was regimental. Staff were polite and obliging. Definitely be back again whether it be music or rugby. 5 🌟

Irish Ferries | Dublin Port

Ferry service
Transportation
Ferries
I travelled with Irish Ferries from Cherbourg to Dublin and later from Dublin to Holyhead. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. The staff were very friendly and genuinely helpful, both on board and at the terminals. What really stood out was that a last-minute rebooking was made possible even without a flexi fare – probably thanks to good availability, but still a really nice gesture. Overall, a pleasant and well-organised experience. I’d definitely choose Irish Ferries again.
Konstantinos ( — Google review
The ferry does the job. We got our car to France and back safe. However there is a lot of improvement needed. The ferry itself looks accommodating at first sight, but it is very run down and quiet dirty. The staff seems stressed and is not the friendliest. Food is overpriced and not worth what they ask for. The cabins are as comfortable as they can be on a ferry. But also here, if you expect a clean cabin, you should have very low expectations. WiFi is overpriced as well (5,- € per hour) and it does not work properly. Again, all in all it is a ferry and it does the job. But as mentioned before, there is a lot of improvement that should be done.
Mister P — Google review
Was able to shop, eat and catch up on sleep. Wifi could be better, as I couldn't get it to work for me. It took multiple times for my son's and wife's phone to connect.
Jason R — Google review
The lady sitting at the reception of Ulysses always very friendly, professional and helpful. Thank you, it is appreciated.
Mov I — Google review
Great service between Holyhead and Dublin. Large board well able to take the rough weather that’s common on the Irish Sea. The boats are kitted out with shops, restaurants, cafes, cinemas and boarding.

Very comfortable ride and great scenery. Would recommend. Lots of activities on the ferry to keep you busy
Chris O — Google review
The renovated ship is much better than what they had before. Beds are short and hard to sleep on.

Live music venue
Concerts & Shows
3Arena is Dublin's largest arena-sized venue and is perfect for big-budget acts like One Direction or large scale performances such as Cirque du Soleil. The atmosphere can be great, but it's not the most intimate venue around.
3Arena is genuinely an impressive place! A few months ago I went to see my favorite singer/Artist, Tyler, The Creator! The show was SO SO SO amazing and the seats i was in were top tier low-key! The staff were also great and gave me directions to my seat and i easily found it! Loved it so much!
Christian P — Google review
I really like this venue for live music. It's big enough to host some great shows, but small enough that pretty much any seat offers a great view of the stage.
Bran-tastic — Google review
Myself, my wife, my son and his friend went to the 3 arena to see the offspring. This was my son and his friends first concert. We all had a great time we parked in the the point car park which was right beside the 3 arena. We arrived around 19:30 and got in fairly quickly the only issue was a car had broken down this held us up a bit. When we got in Simple Plan we did not really know their music but we really enjoyed their set. Then the Offspring came on and they were awesome. They were really good and the crowd really got in to their music. My son and his friend really enjoyed their first concert. When the concert ended the venue emptied. I had concerns that it would take ages to get out of the car park. It only took 10 to 15 minutes and we were out of the car park. The only issue was we had to go left out of the car park which took us away from the port tunnel the way we had to go to get back home. After a quick u turn we were on our way and a few minutes later we were going through the port tunnel on our way home. Overall this was a really good experience.
Robert K — Google review
Had been here for Pitbull concert. Staff were helpful and polite, food and drink were averaged price, toilets were decent. Overall good experience. People tend to often get drunk but staff handles it well so it's grand. It's an indoor venue so that's a plus as well.

A huge hall, excellent sound (I have something to compare it to, as I often attend rock concerts in different countries). Everything is very cool, starting with the entrance, where you are greeted warmly, and at every turn, they help you find your way around, as it was my first time at this arena. During the intermission, you can buy snacks and drinks, and there are enough toilets so that there are no kilometre-long queues. I am very pleased with my visit and have already bought tickets for a new concert.

A very nice place for concerts I think, one that I would definitely prefer over other large venues. Unfortunately I don't really prefer large venues and I am much more interested in smaller venues. Recommend, but will always recommend a smaller place more.
Memeitbro — Google review
Best concert experience for a venue ever. They are the gold standard by far. They organized and calmly walked us to the stage , where everyone was able to get to their desired spots with ease. They seeked out the crowd with cups of water to make sure everyone was well hydrated, and showed everyone the upmost respect and courtesy. I’ve been to 100’s of shows around the world , and 3arena is top tier.

Howth Head Peak offers a bracing hiking trail with stunning sea, cliff, and lighthouse views. It's particularly tranquil at night, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful evening. The well-signed coastal walk leads to the peak, where visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Dublin Bay and South Dublin. The 12km route is quite taxing, requiring a decent level of fitness. However, the flat terrain makes it an amazing hike that allows visitors to disconnect from the city and connect with nature.
Nice cliff walk similar to Bray-Greystones one on the south ☀️ can choose easier route for 6km about 2 hours and a longer route taking probably twice longer for more experienced hikers. Green scenery, water view, yellow flower fields and even some sheep in the area 🐑
Olga Z — Google review
Takes about 40 minutes by foot from Howth train station. It’s not really a hike but rather an uphill walk through a more quiet street with a few homes. Only the last 10 minutes are really a hike. Is totally doable in approximately 2 hours, if you are in Dublin for a day trip. We visited in october and the weather was fine. The view on top is worth it!!

Howth Head in Ireland offers stunning coastal cliffs, panoramic views of the Irish Sea, and historic lighthouses. Hikers enjoy scenic cliff paths with ancient ruins, while the charming fishing village below boasts quaint shops and delicious seafood eateries. It's a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking Ireland's rugged coastal beauty. Highly recommend for all visitors!

A coastal peninsula offering some of Dublin's most accessible and stunning cliff walks. The trails provide breathtaking views of the Irish Sea, the city skyline, and the surrounding islands. The charming village below is famous for its fresh seafood and busy harbor.

The views from this spot are just amazing, you have the sea and howth from one side, and beautiful meadows from the other.

We were here today . What a walk . Less than twenty from my house. Wow . I came here last year with a very good friend and we walked for hours but we only hit two of the peaks . Today we decided we were gonna try to reach all four . We did it it took us a few hours but there was no rush on us and the walk down was easy.
Garrett S — Google review
First time doing the coastal walk, and it was fabulous, It's very well signed, so the chances of getting lost are slim. It's lovely that it brings you into Howth so you can stop for a coffee and snack in one of the eateries at the market. I chose the 12k route, and it was quite taxing, so a decent level of fitness required for this anyway . All in all, it is a fantastic way to spend a few hours taking in some gorgeous scenery.

Ardgillan Castle and Demesne

Garden
Nature & Parks
Large, 18th-century country house with period antiques, set in rolling open gardens with sea views.
We recently discovered a true hidden gem — Ardgillan Castle. It was one of those rare moments when a place perfectly matches your mood. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly and passionate guide who, instead of a traditional tour, gave us the freedom to explore on our own, at our own pace — and that was a real gift. 🗝️ No rush, no crowds — hardly anyone was there, which made the sense of solitude even more special. We enjoyed every room, every view from the windows, as if the castle had opened its doors just for us. It was easy to imagine how the Taylor family once lived there and how the house breathed with quiet nobility. If you’re tired of crowded tourist spots and looking for something authentic, peaceful, and atmospheric, this is the place for you.

Fun park for young kids. Nice trails and beautiful gardens. Great public bathrooms. Tea room is close to the playground but hidden so you have to stumble upon it. Great place to spend half a day with the family!
Jordan S — Google review
Nestled on the coast between Skerries and Balbriggan in North County Dublin, Ardgillan Castle offers one of the most enchanting and peaceful day trips just outside the city. The estate spans over 200 acres of rolling green meadows, woodland trails, and breathtaking views of the Irish Sea — but the real jewel here is the Rose Garden. As you step into the rose garden, you’re immediately enveloped by delicate fragrances and bursts of colour. Dozens of carefully tended varieties bloom in perfect symmetry, from classic blush pinks to deep velvety reds. The layout is both elegant and romantic, with old stone walls framing the space and giving it a timeless, almost fairytale atmosphere. Benches invite you to pause, breathe in the scent of summer roses, and just be. It’s a photographer’s dream, a dreamer’s escape, and an oasis for anyone needing a moment of beauty and quiet. The castle itself is rich in history and offers guided tours with intriguing tales of Irish aristocracy. Coastal views are stunning — on a clear day, you can see all the way to Mourne Mountains. There’s a tearoom on site, perfect for an afternoon scone or tea. Ideal for walking, picnics, mindfulness, and soaking up natural beauty. Whether you’re a garden lover, a history buff, or just someone looking for serenity, Ardgillan Rose Garden will leave a lasting impression.

Great place to enjoy a nice walk. The gardens are very pretty this time of year. There are picnic tables, free toilets, convenient benches, a huge playground with a view on the sea and a nice café.

Great place for a day out and to admire the beautiful gardens and then have a bite at the cafe and check out some of the local artists works.
Ken W — Google review
Lovely grounds with beautiful view of the sea and nicely kept walled gardens. I did the self tour inside but found the house/castle inside a little disappointing... It's a little bland. That said, the library is cool and the staff member who gave a little introduction to some of the rooms was good. If you're interested in history I suppose €6 for the self tour is fine, but it's nothing spectacular. It's the outside and the grounds which are by far the highlight. Recommended, especially on a sunny day!

Carlingford Adventure Centre, located in the Adventure Capital of Ireland, offers a wide range of thrilling activities across three adventure sites: LAND, SEA & SKYPARK. The LAND site on Slieve Foy features rock climbing, zip wires, tree top adventures and the largest Lazer Tag area in Ireland. Meanwhile, the SEA site at the Marina offers water sports such as Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), kayaking, canoeing and windsurfing.
I went here with my school this past Tuesday, and I have to say, it was amazing. We did laser tag, paddle-boarding, and pier jumping. We were with Bree and Stephen for most of the tour and they were brilliant! So kind, patient with everybody, explained everything and were very funny! <3 I think it could have been a bit more organised but overall i would definitely recommend.

Overall amazing experience. We were nervous about just going as a family of four but we couldn't have been made felt more welcome. Laura was there every step of the way and the kids loved her, we made rockets, done archery and the netted adventure. Our favourite was the netted adventure but we loved it all definitely worth the money. The dorm room we stayed in had one of the best showers I've had

We had such a brilliant day at Carlingford Adventure Centre, highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, active, and memorable team outing! We were warmly greeted by Andrew at reception, who got us off to a great start. We chose the water activities and went kayaking with Steve, who was absolutely fantastic! He made everything easy and enjoyable, shared some local history along the way, and kept the energy high with fun games on the water. An amazing experience from start to finish—perfect for team bonding!

We went on our Mystery Tour to Carlingford Adventure Centre, and honestly, they looked after us so well from start to finish! Andrew and Charm handled our booking and couldn’t have been more helpful — every detail was spot on. The activities were brilliant fun (and a great laugh!) with instructors who were full of energy, great craic, and really knew their stuff. We stayed in Slieve Foy accommodation, which was lovely and perfectly located. The centre also recommended and booked PJ O’Hare’s for our first evening and Ma Bakers for our second night — both were fantastic choices! We loved every minute of our stay and can’t thank the Carlingford Adventure Centre team enough for making it such a memorable weekend. We’ll definitely be back!

We were here for Corporate Team Bonding over two days. Day one was kayaking and it was absolutely beautiful. The scenery was good and the kayaking was for all difficulties. Loved it. Tristan was a blast, so helpful and encouraging. We had him for both days. And we did the Crystal Maze Challenge on Day two, and we have never laughed so hard. We had a blast. Team well bonded. And a great few days was had by all 🙏👏👍

I had an absolutely diabolical time at carlingford adventure center. This was mainly due to one of the workers that I believe to be called Rob. He discriminated against me and a couple of my friends due to our own personal beliefs. We also happen to be a different colour to Rob. The food was also crap and I have an upset tummy now because of it. I truly do hope that rob gets treated by his manager like he treated me. I hope he loses his job because it would have been a decent experience if Carlingford took the time to hire better workers

It's a very pleasant place for young people. My son attended the five-day camp for the second time and is very happy with it. Next year, he'll be going for the third time and is already looking forward to it. The only downside is the lack of refunds for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances, and to use the money paid, he has to change the date.

The Boulevard - Banbridge

Outlet mall
Shopping
Large modern mall with discount outlets for big-name fashion and shoe brands, cafes and fast food.
The parking is very good, there is lots of space. The shops are also very nice. The offers are okay if you are coming from a different county to shop. The only thing is that there is not a lot of options for food.
Abdul B — Google review
A stylish and welcoming outlet shopping destination, conveniently located on the outskirts of Banbridge with direct access from the A1. Discover a wide range of great stores in a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere.

What shall I say. I love the place but it can get crazy busy. I wouldn't go near it during public holidays as I don't enjoy crowds of people. Watch out for car or bike shows and Markets. There are lovely shops there, easy access and plenty of parking.

Plenty of shops, plenty to do, games for the kids on the walk, you can easily spend whole day here. Also starting point if you plan to do Game of Thrones tour. Shuttle bus starts here (bout 20min drive to actual Studio). You can buy tickets in the office.

Has really improved since it first opened years ago. Plenty of parking and good variety of shops. Next and Nike are excellent here, I always end up buying something in both. I would also recommend visiting The Range across the road, it’s probably the best one I have been to!

Checked online and the item was in stock in The Range When I got there I couldn't find it. I asked 2 members of staff for help. First shrugged and said I don't know, second said probably in diy showed him web page that said it was in stock, he said you don't want to go by that. Thank goodness I didn't do click and collect or I'd have bought something that didn't exist.

Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, established in 1789, is set in a picturesque landscape and offers astronomy lectures. Visitors can also explore the Georgian architecture of the Mall, visit the living-history museum at Navan Centre and Fort, or enjoy Gaelic football games. The Planetarium on College Hill showcases interactive displays, original stargazing instruments from the Observatory, and modern equipment. Stargazing events are held occasionally and must be booked in advance.
We did the telescope tour with Dr. Rok. It was absolutely fantastic. His told us the story of the telescope in context of history, people and time in a fun, interesting way, that was engaging and easy to understand and kept our attention with interesting facts and sense of humour. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Loulou — Google review
We visited Armagh Planetarium on a Sunday with our two boys (ages 4 and 9) and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was calm and not crowded, which made it really enjoyable to explore at our own pace. We spent nearly 3 hours there and found it to be the perfect amount of time — the exhibition isn't huge, but it's just the right size to keep kids engaged without overwhelming or tiring them out. One of the highlights for us was the fantastic sensory room. It’s full of interactive features and hands-on activities, and the kids especially loved the chance to dress up like astronauts! The Dome Show was definitely the standout moment of our visit — an amazing experience that I’d highly recommend booking in advance. There’s also a small café on-site offering coffee, snacks, and even ice cream — perfect for a short break. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had originally booked our tickets in advance, but one of our sons was unwell on the morning of our visit. A quick phone call was all it took to reschedule to another date, free of charge, which we really appreciated. Overall, Armagh Planetarium is a brilliant day out for families with young kids — fun, educational, and very well run!
K J — Google review
An afternoon out for £32?! You don’t usually get that any more. Free parking, it is small but you can park on the street. Show was good, exhibition content was limited, but it’s not a global observatory. Kids loved the rocket workshop, and dressing up. Worth the trip if you’re within an hour to Armagh.
Peter C — Google review
As a child it was something I never got to do (It was just 1 of those things) Now I have been able to take my own kids who are fascinated by the planets and space in general. Both are autistic & had an absolute blast that they didn't really want to leave. The dome show was worth booking and launching their own rockets to dressing up they loved every minute! Very much a fun day out, and a walk round the astro park after helped calm everything down for the trip back home!
David ( — Google review
Fun and educational place to be with the lil ones, where you can also dress up as a astronaut. Also, there is a different show every hour in the dome space - will recommend to check the website prior booking as not all of them are suitable for the kids aged 5 or lesser.
Dipankar S — Google review
The dome screening is a bit outdated, blurry etc could use a little investment, seems very busy so seems a reasonable, financially viable solution. I feel a warning should be in place for vertigo sufferers as the screening itself was enjoyable but the part where it simulated being on a roller coaster left me with an episode of vertigo allday & a long 2hr drive home. The cafe could use some food that isn’t heavily processed sugary food considering it is a family focused experience. Overall, pleasant & the narrator was highly enthusiastic and welcoming. The website is confusing however, it takes you to a section called dome shows & I bought an allday ticket for us but this doesn’t include a ticket to… you guessed it, the dome shows….
Anne M — Google review
An absolutely wonderful place for a dogwalk. Due to the multiple routes you can really vary things up. Only a couple of bins however, but if you're smart with your route it's not a huge bother when you need to drop off your dog's makings for the day. The groundskeeper is exceptionally friendly.
Nathan W — Google review
I visited the Observatory as an adult with other adults- and, from this perspective it is quite disappointing. I am saying this as a person who loves Observatories and would like to attend more often. Generally a place with great potential, it seems to be mainly focused on children. I think there should be separate shows for adults, containing more information on an adult level, and separate ones for kids. They should be properly marked as such, so that the audience would know which one is which. I don’t believe it is only kids who are interested in astronomy or Space exploration. I know from similar places in other countries that it is entirely possible to achieve the distinction and make it fascinating for older age groups as well. P.s. The gallery space is interesting, I have learned some things there, fair enough. But the shows- adults deserve better!

What a breathtaking church. It’s hard not walk alone this magnificent church without being in total awe. Photos cannot give justice to how beautiful this monumental church is. Such a beautiful church and lovely grounds. The view of the town below was breath taken. The stain glass windows were the best I have ever seen. So many little details all over the church.

Stayed in Armagh for a few nights , it's true what they say about this being a town full of impressive churches, this possibly being the most impressive of the bunch. I can only vouch for the outside as the evening was late and was all closed up. The Cathedral, although smaller than most others that you would class as Cathedrals. Grounds are pleasant enough to walk around, although no flat, the Church is perched upon a hill, so that the town can look up and worship the true majesty of the Lord , with the steps of attrition leading up to worship .... cor religion , it's so full of itself , if it wasn't for the buildings I'd have nothing to do with it !
Phil C — Google review
Beautiful large elaborate cathedral with unending mosaics on the floor and the walls in addition to tall detailed stain glass windows. Lofty arches lead to more art work which ceiling angels watch over. A definite must see. Outside three tombs Cardinal Conway, one in Latin, and one in Irish. I do wish they had a small placard so I knew who the others were.
Carm M — Google review
A very impressive building and the artwork in the ceiling is particularly worth checking out. Lots of lost stories about Irish saints hidden up there. There is no doubt but that the building was designed to impress. It is set on a hill surveying the surrounding countryside. As was typical in the 19th and early 20th centuries it is a neo-Gothic design.

The Ulster Aviation Society, located in a historic hangar at a former RAF base, is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. With over 30 meticulously restored aircraft on display, including planes from World War II, commercial aircraft, and helicopters, the museum offers an immersive experience. The society operates as a charity organization and relies on donations to maintain its collection. Visitors can pre-book tours to explore the exhibits led by knowledgeable guides who are passionate about aviation history.
What can I say! Amazing! Stephen, one of the volunteers, showed us around and was able to give so much detail on all of the aircraft in the two massive hangars! From getting to sit in an RAF Tornado, to sitting in a Red Arrow!!! this place had it all. It’s amazing that all of the aircraft and restoration work is funded by the members, volunteers, and donations. To top it all off, there are flight simulators and VR headsets and I personally really enjoyed getting to fly a Red Arrow over Belfast on these! Great afternoon out - will definitely be back again.

Fantastic venue with some amazing aircraft on show! Most definitely worth the trip down, more so on thier open weekend! Plenty for everyone to see and do, kids will be entertained for hours. The open weekend did have food and drink vendors on site but I'd say this was just for the weekend. If you visit at a different time, be sure to take a flask for picnic. Well done to everyone involved for 2025 open weekend, very well organised and helpful volunteers on site.

In my opinion, the Ulster Aviation Society is one of the best museums Northern Ireland has to offer. There’s so much to see, from historic aircraft and helicopters to fascinating exhibits, plus a VR zone and flight simulator that make the experience even more engaging. The planes are really well maintained and in great condition, which makes walking around them even more impressive. There’s plenty to explore, and the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions. A brilliant visit for anyone interested in history, aviation, or just looking for something unique to do.

First time visit on Saturday past at 11am. Ended up was just myself with the guide Nick. I found the hangers to be an absolutely fantastic facility with tonnes more artifacts and planes than I had imagined there to be. Defo needs a repeat visit (or 5??) to see everything. Must mention how good Nick was as a guide - very knowledgeable and passionate about aviation with bucketloads of great stories from his past (and future, maybe fly a spitfire at some point???) It is free entry but a donation is a no-brainer when you see how good the facility and guides are.

The whole museum is very interesting. Both planes and helicopters with steps to view the cockpits and knowledgeable staff with interesting facts makes this place a worthwhile visit.
C H — Google review
Visiting the Ulster Aviation Society almost a week ago is not just a museum trip - it’s an experience that stays with you long after you leave. What truly sets this place apart is not just the incredible collection of aircraft but the passionate volunteers who bring aviation history to life. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by people who live and breathe aviation. Their enthusiasm is infectious, and the way they tell the stories behind each aircraft makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time. Whether it’s tales of wartime heroics, engineering marvels, or personal connections to the planes on display, every conversation leaves an impression. The collection itself is outstanding, with a wide range of aircraft, from classic warbirds to modern jets. But what makes the visit truly memorable is the interaction with the people. Their knowledge, dedication, and genuine love for what they do make you want to come back—not just as a visitor, but as someone who wants to be part of their incredible work. If you have even the slightest interest in aviation, the Ulster Aviation Society is a must-visit. You don’t just learn about history—you feel it, thanks to the passionate individuals who make this place special. Thank you to Robin, John and the others 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

A large and open space with an amazing range of trees, open fields and a collection of wonderful roses. You can walk for hours and enjoy the fountain and walled garden and forest walks or simply choose any one of a number of benches and soak in the silence and views! Bliss!!

Can be a little tricky to get to without a car but is well worth a visit regardless. There are so many trails and hidden gems to explore here, with rose gardens, gorgeous forests (especially in autumn!) and even a quaint café this is a must go place for dog-walkers, families and the avid nature photographer!

This is a very nice park to visit for a lovely long not too difficult walk there are many routes that wind through the park all of which will offer you a different and enjoyable experience of being close to Mother Nature . There should be enough parking space in either of its two large car parks within the park area . This is a lovely visit and I do recommend you try it .

A beautiful park. There are amazing rose gardens. It is best for a wander rather than a trail walk - if there are any maps around i missed them. The playground is fantastic, covers a large area for kids to roam but is also enclosed so they can’t wander off.

Such a lovely relaxing place to spend some time , the whole park is extremely well maintained with its network of tarmac, gravel and soil paths that intertwine through this vast estate, there are old but clean and very functional toilets near the old Manor House . In the lower car park there is a very clean cafe serving a variety of hot foods and drinks although I thought it a bit expensive but I suppose like everything these days . There is a childrens play area that has many playground toys . The park is located just outside the Belfast suburban belt and has a bus route from the city centre or Lisburn that passes the entrance .

Great park for kids, walks and walking the dog, plenty of space to throw the ball. Lots of spots for picnics/BBQ's and a great big play park to enjoy. The Japanese garden is a lovely quiet place to go and chill also

Just back from a weekend stay at Todds Leap. Amazing time had by the fam-bam. Stayed in the tree house with the added bonus of being dog friendly. 🐕 On arrival the tree house was warm, welcoming and we even had a few welcome treats. It was spotless, beds freshly made and has all the basic kitchen amenities and an air fryer. We booked into some of the activities in todds leap, staff were very helpful. Great fun was had by all! Eabha was great, bubbly and full of chat. Explained things really well and great with the wee ones too. 🧗‍♂️👬 We had a great time exploring in granda Ben's zoology and if your lucky enough to meet Granda Ben you can be sure of a good yarn and plenty of crack! An excellent wee spot on our door step that you need to experience to appreciate. We will definitely be back!

Went with a group, staff were friendly, place was well maintained. The staff member with us during activities was great craic too. There's loads of activities but it seems best to book in advance what activities you'd like to do. Had a blast, would recommend to groups, families and parties. I will say though, some activities are on some rugged terrain, best to wear old clothes and comfy footwear. Some areas may not be accessible for wheelchair users.

If I could give 6 stars I would, staff are beyond helpful and friendly, we had the pleasure of dealing with a really great guy called James. We spent the entire day on motorbikes as well as doing ride on adventure lap with james piloting the epic vehicles! Couldn't recommend this place enough, value for money, amazing facilities and beyond a lot to do!! Will be back regularly!

I visited two weeks ago for a motorbike ride in the middle of the forest. An incredible experience. I guess because of the event and bad weather, the other facilities were closed. The food in the restaurant was good, the pizza a bit burnt. Prices adjusted.

Organised Stag do for here and was very impressed... Nice accommodation, good onsite facilities and staff were brilliant. Was able to get into the cabins before the stags to decorate/set up which was great. Brilliant overnight stay had by all ... Will definitely be back. Thank you
Sandra J — Google review
I am genuinely disgusted by the state of the cabins. The sleeping areas are completely unacceptable. The beds are infested with bed bugs, and the mattresses and linens are in such poor condition that it’s impossible to feel comfortable or safe. On top of that, the walls show visible mold, creating not only an unpleasant odor but also a serious health risk. To make matters worse, the cabins are crawling with insects of all kinds, making it clear that they have not been properly cleaned, treated, or maintained in a very long time. What should have been a simple and restful stay turned into an unhygienic and distressing experience that no guest should ever have to endure.

The best adventure day out, full of laughs and fun for all. Staff all 5 * very friendly and helpful and all looked like they loved being there, which made the day even better. Also a place for food, very clean and well maintained. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Absolutely loved our visit! So many beautiful birds, some of them were proper characters and so fun to watch! Staff were all lovely and even took time to show us some of the owls up close. They were all really knowledgeable, and it was so clear how much they loved the birds. Thank you Mike and team, we'll definitely be back ❤️
Megan W — Google review
We had the best time at World Of Owls, staff were ever knowledgable about the owls and were able to tell us about each bird’s personality. Once we had walked around the owls, falcons and Eagles we met a staff member on his way in when he asked if we wanted to hold two of the owls he had just brought back from a school visit. All of the birds were very catchy and the staff knew which bird we were talking about just based off the way we told them they interacted with us. Staff were very friendly and very helpful when at the end of the visit we had realised we lost our keys.

If you love birds of any shape and size - you'll love world of owls. Its a HOOT!!! This fantastic sanctuary is phenomenal at their care for these amazing creatures. The staff and volunteers are always open to talk about any and all things bird! Mike is such a gem to talk to and is always so welcoming everytime I have visited. They're truly a hidden gem in Randalstown Forest and I couldn't recommend visiting enough. ❤️❤️❤️
Ebe — Google review
A beautiful little trip among birds of prey from all over the world, from huge eagles to tiny little owls. The owner was extremely kind and answered all of our questions. He also let us pet a cute barn owl and a huge eagle-owl that starred in the first Harry Potter movie, which we also got to carry with a falconry glove. There's gift shop at the end of the trail with feathers from the birds. The sanctuary is at the very beginning of the Randalstown forest trail, which is also worth a visit.

Had the best time at World of Owls today! Great day for all ages definitely. We got to hold some owls and Mike told us some amazing stories about the owls- you’ll have to hear them yourself! This really made our experience, will most definitely be back soon :)
Sarah C — Google review
There were so many cool species of birds, and the staff are more than happy to tell you all about the species, the birds backstories and names. Its a good (and cheap) way to spend an afternoon. The place is run by volunteers and all the money goes into looking after the birds and animals there. We even got to hold one of the owls. Very much would recommend to families and people with an interest in birds.
Fern R — Google review
A great way to spend an hour or two. Never seen so many beautiful Owls, hawks Eagles and Falcons in one place in NI. Much better than the Belfast zoo for birds. But where is the lottery/ government investment?
Paul M — Google review
I had a quick visit last weekend and will definitely be back soon not only to see the birds again but also to learn more. The birds were just amazing and some quite comical too. Although the birds are in enclosures, they are outdoors and you get great views of them. The place is in a good wee spot. It should be on every family's list of places to go see, for sure. Wish I had found it sooner. Keep up the great work folks and thank you for caring for these creatures!

Drum Manor Forest Park

Nature & Parks
Camping, a Japanese gardens & woodland hikes, plus crumbling remains of a manor house, in a park.
Lovely walk but trails wouldn't be that very pram friendly as stones etc but with pushing can. Amazing park. Ice cream van which does lovely coffee there on weekends. Toilets opened and generally clean with toilet roll. One of my favourite walks Is ducks but covered algae sadly so sometimes see dead ones :(

Drum Manor Forest Park near Cookstown is a fantastic spot for a day out with the family! The park offers lovely walking trails through lush forests, perfect for a peaceful escape or an energetic stroll. There's a beautiful pond with ducks, which is always a hit with the kids. Speaking of kids, the playground is fantastic – well-maintained and with plenty of fun equipment to keep them entertained. There's an entrance fee, but it's worth it for the facilities and the gorgeous surroundings. The only drawback? The weather! It rarely gives you a warm, dry day to fully enjoy all the park has to offer. But when you do catch that rare bit of sunshine, Drum Manor is truly a gem.
ISILDUR — Google review
A nice place for a picnic on a sunny day or just a stroll around the gardens. There are 3 different trails you can do, none of them very long. Trails are in through small forested area and around the ponds. Unfortunately, on the day we went, some of the trails were closed due to forestry work going on. There is a good play park for kids and ample parking. There are reasonable toilets on site too. Sign for payment at entrance, car is £5, which is steep considering the facilities on offer. Ticket machine for payment is located in the carpark.

Great spot for camping especially if you are intending on some star gazing. We managed to see the milky way during our stay. Close to OM Observatory and beaghmore stone circle, great base for exploring the area. Clean toilets and showers, lots of bins for rubbish too. Great play park for kids and gate with a coded lock for getting in and out via car so felt safe too. Very cheap to stay and clear instructions on how to get in via email beforehand. Family friendly site with great forest to explore and excitedly for us Bats flying about while we made smores at night, amazing!!

Lovely place to visit for a picnic and a walk. Happened upon it by a happy accident and we will be back. Clean toilets and a covered picnic bench which was great to see

This was a nice campsite. We paid £27 for one night on an electric pitch and the facilities were very good and super clean! There is an area to wash up and good showers! Its first come first served so if you are tenting you could end up in between two caravans so that would gave to bot bother you! There are a few hours worth of walks and the majority of the area is dogs allowed off leash so they can run to their hearts content. Would come again!
Max A — Google review
We found the toilets and showers to be dirty and there seems to be several caravans of ‘permanent’ residents with road work trade vehicles coming and going. Didn’t feel safe

Ulster American Folk Park is an open-air history center that vividly portrays the story of Irish emigration during the 18th and 19th centuries. The park features period buildings and costumed actors who bring to life the experiences of over two million Ulster people who left their homes for a new life in America. Divided into Old World cottages and New World log cabins, the museum offers a captivating journey through history.
Well worth the visit, a great day out. The park is well laid out, making you feel like you've gone back in time. The staff are super friendly and they are very good at being the time period characters providing lots of fantastic information. The gift shop has a good selection of books and there is a cafe for refreshments or a treat after walking around the park.

If you're nearby (esp if you're American) don't miss this place! What a gem to learn about life in the late 1700's -1800's, why people immigranted to America, and what it was like. They've put so much thought into this place and the people working there were really genuine and knowledgeable. We spent 4 hours and I wish I could have gone back, it does get a 'wee' 😉 bit tiring, so bring snacks or take breaks. Hopefully you'll have better weather than us and can sit in the sun!

Brilliant museum! A living history lesson. So well laid out and presented. Every house, bakery, craft, school, blacksmith, sweet stall to the ship bound for Baltimore, America had active people in costume relating stories, traditions & customs of the Irish people in the late 1700’s to mid 1800’s. I just loved it and you will too. Make this top of your list of places to visit in Northern Ireland. 🇮🇪 These immigrants were the lucky ones 🍀

Located in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, the Joey Dunlop Memorial Garden is a must-visit for motorcycle enthusiasts. The garden is divided into two sections, with the first half featuring a memorial to Joey Dunlop, complete with a sculpture of him on his Honda bike. The second section pays tribute to Joey's brother Robert and Robert's son William, who also tragically lost their lives racing. Despite being situated by the main road, the garden offers a peaceful atmosphere.

1st time you memorial garden and the NW200. I'm a late comer to the motorcycle scene and wish I'd got on board earlier in life but every one you speak to has story's about what a great man joey was so had to pay a visit to pay homage to the dunlop dynasty. A fantastically piece feeling in the garden and around the status of all the fallen dunlop boys. I would definitely recommend a visit to see how much the family have had to pay to making road racing what it is today. The name and the legacy lives on with micheal today
James S — Google review
We made the pilgrimage and it was a bit emotional as well as beautiful. Hats off to the people of Ballymoney for doing this. One thing we did find though was a lot of litter lying around that we made an effort to tidy up and put in the bin. Please be respectful here folks!!

If you're into bikes and road racing, you'll know who the Dunlop's are. It is definitely worth a visit if you're anywhere near Ballymoney itself. Had paintings on buildings, shops with bikes, and even Joe's bar just a few yards from the memorial

Lovely Memorable Garden to.the Dunlops..fitting tribute to legendary family and just down the road is Joey's Bar ..Well worth a visit
Jill C — Google review
Who in Northern Ireland doesn't know of the Dunlop family and their dedication to motorbike racing, and the tragic consequences of their passion. The garden is split into two sections, with the first half containing a memorial to Joey Dunlop, including a sculpture of him astride his Honda bike - a gloriously affectionate tribute to the late rider. The other section of the garden contains tributes to Joey's brother Robert, and Robert's son William, who also both lost their lives racing. The sculpture of Robert features him in celebratory mode, his bottle of winner's champagne held aloft. A few feet away his son stands proud. There's something deeply moving about this garden - one family so often visited by tragedy. Perhaps it's the fear that further sculptures will be added - the roads seem determined to claim the whole clan. The garden itself is immaculately presented, formal, inviting, with several benches to allow visitors to sit and contemplate. Just a short stroll away is the train station and beside that, Joey's bar. So dedicated fans who wish to pay homage can do so without going too far.

Sights & Landmarks
The Peace Bridge in Derry, opened in 2011, is a modernistic structure that spans the River Foyle. It serves as a powerful symbol of reconciliation and unity, connecting the predominantly nationalist west side with the unionist east side of the city. Designed by architect Wilkinson Eyre, its sleek and sweeping curve reflects the river's natural flow. The bridge offers pedestrians and cyclists a peaceful way to travel between both banks of the river.
The Peace Bridge in Londonderry is more than just a bridge; it's a symbol of hope, reconciliation, and progress. This iconic structure spans the River Foyle, connecting the city's historic walled city with the modern Ebrington Square. Designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects, the bridge is a marvel of engineering and a stunning piece of contemporary architecture. Its graceful curves and sleek design make it a striking landmark. The bridge's unique shape, with its two halves overlapping at the center, represents a "handshake" between the two sides of the city, a powerful metaphor for the peace process in Northern Ireland. Beyond its architectural significance, the Peace Bridge has become a vital part of the city's social fabric. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering stunning views of the river and the city skyline. Whether you're strolling along the bridge, cycling across it, or simply admiring it from afar, you can't help but feel a sense of optimism and hope. The Peace Bridge is a testament to the power of human spirit and a reminder that even the deepest divisions can be bridged.

City Hall
Sights & Landmarks
The Guildhall is a stunning neo-Gothic town hall in Derry/Londonderry, serving as a hub for local history and culture. It boasts intricate stained-glass windows and offers guided tours to delve into its rich heritage. The venue also hosts various events such as concerts, plays, and poetry readings. Visitors can explore the St. Columba Heritage Centre to learn about the city's patron saint through interactive exhibits.
We celebrated our wedding at the Guildhall on Saturday and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. All communication was handled efficiently, kindly, and professionally, and we instantly felt we were in a ‘safe pair of hands’ for our special day. All of the staff we spoke to reassured us that they understood what we wanted and put us at ease. Throughout the whole process, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and our guests. The venue is absolutely stunning. We got married in the main hall, in front of the stained glass windows. The staff allowed Holly’s Dad to play us in and out on the organ. They also recommended White Horse for our catering who provided delicious food and a great service. We had a relaxed and joyful experience and would highly recommend the Guildhall as a venue for an unforgettable day. Special mentions for Lee, Troy, Paige, Brian, Ellie, Sylvia and the kind lady (we think, Carol) who took us out on the balcony and in the council chamber. Holly and Max

We were in today for a walk around and stopped in to see the bike show. Band playing and there was a great atmosphere. Stopped in the cafe for a quick takeaway coffee and sausage roll. Nice and clean area with plenty going on

The Guildhall is a beautiful building with free entry. You can take a poke around and also there is a bit of a museum / educational area to learn more about the history of Derry. The people working the day we were in were friendly and informative. We really enjoyed stopping in here.

Incredible what human hands can do! Generations to build these masterpieces and they will stand Fav stained glass is pic 6 but far too much beauty for one post! 🌈 LED light on the organ is amazing.

Londonderry's incredible neo-Gothic Guildhall with its beautiful interior and stained-glass windows. The guildhall dates from 1887 but was nearly completed destroyed by fire in 1908. It was rebuilt in 1912 but hit by two terrorist bombs, during the troubles, in 1972. It was restored and reopened in 1977.

Beautiful venue and tourist spot - I delivered training in the Main Hall, which was breathtaking. Superb exhibition in building.

This place seemed interesting. It has quite a history from being rebuilt from the ground up since 1912 fire. It was renovated in 2013 with a sizable budget. I was thoroughly impressed with the wood carvings and stained glass that some looked to have been salvaged. I watched the Choir competition and the acoustics was really good. Phillipines had a strong show. Dublin and Cork had really talented set. Estonia in their formal dress was very impressive. The local choir set a high bar for the competitors though as they were the opening act. I didn't like the choke points at the top of the stairs, but packing so many people in a limited space has complications. The organizers did a really good job on utilizing the Derry community.

An absolutely stunning building and well worth a visit. The information about the 9 year war is very informative.

History Museums
The Museum of Free Derry, located in the Bogside neighborhood of Derry, is a historical museum that commemorates and recounts the story of the Free Derry era from 1969-1972. This pivotal period saw a section of the city declare itself autonomous from British authorities, culminating in the tragic events of Bloody Sunday in 1972. The museum features multi-media exhibits on the region's civil rights movement and early conflict era.
An amazing experience in the Free Derry Museum ! Here, you find the all story of The Troubles that took place in Derry and the building of tensions between the two communities beforehand. It is well-explained and very complete. If you are in Derry, you definitely have to come here !

It's a good museum to learn about the history of Derry. There are some videos throughout that are interesting to watch. There was no wait to enter the museum and we didn't have to but tickets in advance. You can just show up and pay to enter.

A powerful and moving experience. Visiting the Bloody Sunday monument is both emotional and enlightening. The surrounding murals beautifully and boldly tell the story of a tragic chapter in history—each one full of meaning and message. Walking through the area, you don’t just see history, you feel it. You leave with a deeper understanding, carrying a piece of that history with you. A must-visit for anyone coming to Derry

Magnificent and extremely moving testament to the people of Derry. Very well curated, informative, logical and easy to follow. Plus some very poignant exhibits, the shoot to kill transcript, the white hanky, the bullet broken Sunday best clothes, straight from noon mass. Simply must see if you’re visiting any part of Ireland.

Excellent local museum in Derry. Great history on Derry through it's troubled past. Highly recommend a visit as a private tour guide who explores the whole island of Ireland.

Very eye-opening & interesting history. Happy to hear another perspective on the story of Northern Ireland’s past conflict. Cool to see what the Bloody Sunday Trust is doing to spread awareness and fight for civil rights for all, everywhere

Excellent museum. Though small, my mom and I stayed hours reading and listening. Back in the states and currently drinking my morning coffee from the mug of their facade: the sound waves of "We Shall Overcome". An excellent reminder of our global shared struggles for liberation and justice. Thank you!

Mussenden Temple

$$$$affordable
Historical landmark
Built in 1785 as an estate library, this small building was modeled after Rome's Temple of Vesta.
This gives a lovely view of the cliffs and a flavour of what it must have been like back in the day. Beware it is very windy even on sunny days. If walking by foot from the town, Google will make you go along the main road but there is a little hike along the beach, infront of the caravan park and then follow the footpath along the front of the cliffs and great view of railway line through the tunnel

Free entry to the vast grounds to have a nice extended walk around, seeing the impressive temple and stunning views of the cliffs and beaches below. Regrettably you couldn't visit the interior of the temple as it's only open very few times and then you have to be quick to aquire tickets online. The Café was also sadly closed when we visited but they had clean toilets at least. Also easy to get to with the bus 134 from Coleraine. Definitely worth a visit.

We got a lovely dry day, even a little sunshine, had a lovely walk through the walled garden, enjoyed an apple from the trees. Beautiful views, was disappointed doors were locked at the temple. But still really enjoyed seeing it all. The Demesne, sorry if wrong spelling. Was a glimpse into the past. Would highly recommend as long as weather is dry.

Beautiful country home built by a Bishop, the highest rank in the church of christ I think? Looks like the wide gate is closed only available individually now; don't eat as much as I do barely fit lol Bonus: I hear the guy who built the temple told his wife it was for art 🎨 but was really for hs mistress 😉 🍵 spicy tea, but that's a he'll of a view to be a dog too
Chris P — Google review
Offers panoramic views of Downhill Strand, Donegal, and Scotland on a clear day. Parking space availabe at Bishop house gate and Lions gate and the lions gate parking is very close to the temple and its a paid parking.

Good service provided by this shuttle ferry crossing between Greencastle,, Co. Donegal and Magilligan Point, Co. Derry. Currently €16 one way or €26 return for a car which isn't too expensive. Approximately a ten minute crossing which has pleasant views.
