It's suitable for picnics with many people and a good place for children to play. There are ice cream, hot dogs, French fries and other fast food. There are plenty of parking spaces. It's a good place to take pictures of waterfalls and play in the water. However, the mobile phone signal is weak after entering the mountainous area, so it is recommended to download an offline map!

Really quite a nice park with charcoal grills for use. Charcoal and lighters are sold at an onsite snack bar / coffee shop which also has two souvenir machines (one selling “medallions” for 2 euro and another for pressing pennies). Be aware that you will need to drive a fairly narrow two-way road from the front gate to the parking lot. The admission for two adults was 15 euro which seemed steep at first but I think that you could definitely get your value out of it for a group grillout. There is also a waterfall.

Visited Powerscourt Waterfall and honestly, the best part is how close it is to the city while still feeling completely secluded. It’s a beautiful spot, perfect for a family picnic or a quick getaway from the noise of Dublin. The scenery is stunning and really worth the trip just make sure to go on a good-weather day to enjoy it fully.

Visited Powerscourt Waterfall on a weekend afternoon with the family and it was absolutely beautiful. The waterfall is Ireland’s highest and truly a sight to behold—surrounded by peaceful woodland and perfect for a relaxing stroll or picnic. There’s plenty of space for kids to run around, and the facilities were clean and well-kept. It is a private property owned and maintained by a wonderful family. There's plenty of options for doing a barbecue and you will be asked while entering the facility if you wish to do barbecue or not. If yes then there are additional charges for it. The entry ticket to this place has different prices for adults, kids and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or can be purchased at the gate too. There's also combo price for families. They also sell freshly produced honey which are produced in bee hives inside the estate. There's a huge children's play area inside. There is plenty of parking spaces for more than 70 cars at any given time. There's also a shop where you can buy fast foods for a quick bite. There is toilet facilities just besides the children's play area. The best option is to plan to spend the entire day here with family and friends doing a picnic. It’s a great spot to unwind, enjoy nature, and take some amazing photos. Highly recommend for families or anyone looking for a scenic day out near Dublin!

We had the most wonderful day at Powerscourt Waterfall! It’s an absolutely stunning location and perfectly set up for a fantastic family outing. First off, the practicalities: Yes, there is an entry ticket to get in, but it is well worth the fee for access to such a beautiful and well-maintained area. There is plenty of car parking available close to the main picnic spots, which is very convenient. Clean toilet facilities are also on-site, which is always a bonus. The waterfall itself is the main event, and it is truly breathtaking. As Ireland's highest waterfall, it's an incredibly impressive sight cascading down the rocks, and it provides a fantastic backdrop for the whole area. What makes this place a 5-star destination for us are the brilliant family-friendly facilities. The kids absolutely loved the play area and had a great time running around. Best of all, this is the perfect spot for a barbecue! There are lots of open, grassy areas where you can set up for the day, and many families were enjoying a full cookout, which created a really lovely, relaxed atmosphere. A top-tier attraction for a brilliant day out in nature. Highly recommended!

This is definitely a place to visit if you are in Ireland. The garden in the back is very beautiful with a lot of very tall trees with a very large pond. The grass looks like artificial turf but it is very manicured and real. The property has a tower you can walk in which is about 4 stories tall. It has a Japanese garden that is very nice. Definitely a nice place to visit.

Our student was captivated, not only by the beauty but by the stories hidden in every stone and fountain. Powerscourt does not just impress the eye, it stirs the imagination. It invites you to dream of a bygone era, where life moved with grace, art, and purpose. The journey continued to the waterfall, Ireland’s highest, where nature took centre stage in all her glory. The sun came out as we arrived and this is a.place where the weather makes a big difference. We went on the red route 1 hour walk around the gardens. It is very impressive. The House is give over to shops and the cafe in the most part, and the shops are aimed at international tourists. The cafe serves great food, or just a coffee and cake if that's your preference. A big car park, helpful for those of us touring with campervans. Free car parking and the fee for the gardens is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

A wonderful place to visit if you are in Ireland. A place of serenity and a great opportunity to reconnect with nature and all that it offers. Easy to get to, big parking and if you are into golf, you will be pleased with the course. There is a restaurant on site and lots of shops to explore. Prices are reasonable and garden tickets definitely worth it. Make sure you visit the gardens on a nice day and enjoy the sunshine in the nature. It's one of those places you keep coming back for more. Definitely recommending it to everyone.

Place worth visiting in Spring or Summers. There are different gardens and the flowers and natural beauty cannot be justified in words. The gardens are well maintained.

A must see for the family vacation. The gardens are beautiful and very well maintained. You can spend the day walking and just thinking in them. There are various aspects to them, from tall trees to arrangements of flowers. This garden has them all. The actual house is what you walk through, if your in the shops, your in the house. Unfortunately there isn’t more due to the fire 😢

Wicklow Mountains National Park is an absolutely gorgeous environment! The scenery and landscape are breathtaking. You really need to spend a good amount of time here to explore and walk around. It’s beautiful from every angle.

Beautiful stunning landscape! It has 2 beautiful lakes and several tracking paths. Ideal for having a walk or a picnic. It has 2 car parks but if you decide to go on a weekend or bank holiday i would advise to go really early. Roads are narrow and you'll get stuck in traffic for at least an hour. Iam totaly going back and i try another walking track.

My wife and I took this tour on a Monday morning a few hours before our flight home and had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was very animated and obviously loved his job! Great tour through history all the way to current time. Definitely recommend this tour for any whiskey aficionados or anyone with just a taste for Jameson.

I paid about $26 for the Jameson Distillery tour and it was worth every penny. They start with a really cool 3D projector story about the history and how Jameson is made, then you move into a tasting room where you try four different Jamesons and learn how to properly smell and taste whiskey. It truly feels like a world-class experience. The premium ones were noticeably smoother (whiskey by itself definitely grows hair on your chest 😂), but it was fun, informative, and delicious. After the tasting, you get a drink included — they already have a bar set up with several cocktail options, and if you want another drink afterward you can buy more. The tour guide was incredible — funny, knowledgeable, and made it feel like he actually believed every part of the history. It was so good I found myself thinking, “Do y’all hire? I could work here too.” The staff overall was extremely friendly and helpful. They’ll even hold your bags if you’re coming straight from the airport like I was. There’s merchandise at the end if you want to shop, and the whole experience is just a lot of fun from start to finish. I would 100% come back and I’d tell anyone visiting Dublin to add this to their trip.

This is one of the best distillery tour I’ve ever done! I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Dublin. Our tour guide was really informative and had a great demote of knowledge about the history of Jameson’s. I’m not usually a Whiskey drinker but after trying a Jamesons, Ginger Ale and Lime in the bar I am converted.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Jamison Distillery. I went with my husband and my daughter. It was very informative and quite interesting. There were several experiences during the tour. We tasted whiskeys that we hadn't tried before. Our new favorite one is Black Barrel. We've bought a bottle now that we're back home and have shared it with a neighbor. He is now a fan! I recommend going on this tour. It's fun, educational, and it even has a cute little shop inside.

A must visit if you come to Dublin. This is a self guided tour that brings you on a journey of how Guinness came about and how it is made. Very informative. You start your journey at the ground floor and work your way up towards the 7th floor which is the gravity bar. With the ticket purchase you will have a free glass of Guinness beer with one of the best views around.

If tourists and Guinness beer aren’t your thing, you can skip this tour. Ha! This is a well-designed, modern, and thoughtfully curated museum dedicated to the history and craft of Guinness. Just note, it’s not a factory tour. I’d give the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin two thumbs up for a great way to spend a couple of hours in the city. The building itself is shaped like a giant pint glass, with seven stories in total. The main tour covers about three levels and walks you through the process of beer making. Floor 4 is all the fun advertising thought the years and media room to watch their iconic commercials. Don’t skip the tasting room, it’s a brilliant sensory experience where you can explore the aromas of Guinness and enjoy your first sample while learning how to properly drink the black stuff! You finish the tour in the Gravity Bar at the top (floor seven), which offers grand panoramic views of Dublin. All told, I give it five shamrocks outta five. Sláinte! 🍀🍺

Fantastic place and a must to visit! We learnt about the deep history of how Guinness was created / invented, the complex techniques they used, and also showcased the past and present equipment used to make the Guinness. Very interactive museum and a must to visit when you are in Dublin, the queue management was great, we didn't had to wait too long to get into the museum. Also highly recommend to sign up for the workshop where you can print your image on the Guinness stout! ♿️ wheelchair accessible entrance and lots of space to move around inside the Storehouse. There are lifts available to move to different floors too.

I had the opportunity to visit the Guinness Storehouse, which was the place I most wanted to see while in Ireland. There are interesting shops inside, and the history of the brewery, as well as the history of Ireland, is displayed and is fascinating to see. They demonstrate how to sample the stout, and there are delicious restaurants. Plus, the top floor offers panoramic views over the entire city of Dublin. The service staff are all great, and some were kind enough to offer me free beer samples (a pint :D). If I ever get the chance to return to Ireland, I will definitely visit this place again.

Guinness has a self-guided tour, which I was a little leery of, at first, but it turned out to be a great experience. We had just been at Jameson the day before and that tour is about 30-40 minutes. By us walking through the 5-7 floors at Guinness, I think we ended up spending 2-3 hours there. We enjoyed every bit of it from the intro speech on the building and history, to the various interactive brewing processes, to the historical bottles, mascots, and advertising, the tasting room, and finally, the bar on the top floor with the great 360 degree views of Dublin. Just was a really cool place with lots to see and experience. We also ate at one of their restaurants where I had a good Beef Guinness stew along with a Hop House 13 Lager. Really had a good time visiting here.

Any fan of history needs to visit! The individuals who rest at Glasnevin have shaped the fabric of Irish history and, in some cases, the history of many other nations. When climbing the tower, be aware of any physical limitations as the stairs already 150+ and perhaps steeper than one might think. The tours will give you the chance to hear of the deeds performed by those who now rest there. Larger gatherings should probably book in advance, but the spontaneous individual will most likely be able to buy a spot on a tour at the entrance.

Very interesting tour of the cemetery. The tour guide Cillian was very knowledgeable & full of information which made the tour very enjoyable. We also climbed to the top of the round tower all 198 steps. Would definetly recommend to visit

If you enjoy Irish history this is a must visit! Nice little cafe located at the entrance & the cemetery is located right beside the National Botanic gardens. Together they would make a great day trip. The gardens have a wonderful array of plants & it is free entry.

We visited the Cemetry on a bright Wednesday morning. We had booked the Tour and it turned out to be a very wise move. The Tour was excellent and the guide showed us the graves of all the notable people who are buried there. The walk is on very good surface with no inclines or dodgy footpaths. The guide gave us a brief resume of each notable figure at their grave and their standing in Irish history. We would highly recommend this Tour and to round it off we had a lovely lunch in the restaurant nearby.

A surprisingly engaging visit with thoughtful guided stories that add depth to the place. The grounds are impressive and peaceful, and walking through them gives a strong sense of history. It’s a meaningful stop if you enjoy places with character and reflection.

Fascinating guided tour of the Gaol. Lots of information about Ireland's history and independence movement, including the many political prisoners held here. The museum was organized well and displays were clearly explained. Well worth the price of admission. Tickets sell out well know advance but day of tickets can sometimes be purchased online.

This was a great tour, covering the history of the prison, some of the notable figures who were emprisoned/ executed here, and some notable Irish history (the famine, Easter rising, etc) Our guide John was knowledgeable and engaging. At the end there is a museum which was well organised and had some very interesting exhibits, including the final letters four men sent to their mothers before execution, from 1922. There’s also a cafe, and a gift shop with lots of books on Irish history as well as the average Ireland souvenirs

I highly recommend this tour when you're visiting Dublin but please note: YOU NEED TO BUY TICKETS 4 WEEKS IN ADVANCE. I bought our tickets online and 10 minutes later they were sold out. Please visit the website, they explain everything. Our tour guide, Rob, was amazing. He spoke clearly and loud enough for all to hear. Rob was a wealth of knowledge. To paraphrase Rob, there's not a lot of happy stories here, but a lot of important stories. We learned a lot of history and highly recommend visiting.

Honestly the best thing you can do in Dublin as a tourist. It's not incredibly busy and is a very important cornerstone of Irish history. It's a heavy subject but was told with elegance and pause. I very much appreciate the can driver pointing us in the direction of the Gaol. Do yourself a favor and take the time to visit this place. And make sure you book well in advance as tickets fill up quick.

Did this tour as a spur of the moment, and wow, we wasn’t disappointed! Our guide (Adam) was fantastic and great at describing the history of the prison, plenty of emotion in his presentation of it which really made you feel how grim it was to be held there, The prison holds so much history for Ireland and the rebellion, after the walking tour you get to see the small museum which has loads f info and items from the prison and prisoners, especially the letters!! Hard read but so worth taking the time to read them. Entrance fee is tiny and they could charge more easily I feel as it was so informative. Thank you for the education from the visit ☘️🇮🇪

Hats down one of my fave visits in Dublin and the best presentation from any tour guide I've ever had. If you are lucky to get Adam as a guide, you are in for a treat. He has an exceptional storytelling skill that kept both the children on the tour and adults engaged to the max, and conveyed both the story of the jail and the resistance fighters in a fantastic way.

I had a perfect tour at Kilmainham Gaol — it was incredibly interesting and well-organized. Our tour guide, Thomas, was excellent! Great night in at the Wild lights, did not add many photo's as do not want to spoil the experience for anyone else. Highly recommend, great for families with kids of all ages. Loads of food options on site(slightly overpriced IMO) We wanted to see all the displays which required us having to walk through parts we had previously seen earlier. Great experience, all the staff were so friendly and very cheery with only added more positively to our experience!! Highly recommend, and hope anyone reading gets to enjoy this experience!!

This is a wonderful Zoo with a large variety of animals. Clean, easy to navigate, fun. The dinosaur exhibit was amazing. Lots of fun facts shared everywhere about the animals. Plenty of toilets all over and places to eat. There is a small family farm for the little kids and lots of playground around for the kids to play. Buy tickets in advance to save time and money. Overall a fun place for the kids to visit.

One of the best zoos I’ve ever visited. The space provided for the animals is second to none, and the staff are consistently friendly and courteous. The talks are engaging, particularly the elephant presentation, and the variety of animals at Dublin Zoo is truly impressive — far better than what I’ve seen in Sydney or London. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend a visit. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you.

We had a wonderful time at Dublin Zoo — truly one of the best family experiences in the city! The zoo is beautifully laid out, spacious, and easy to explore. What really stood out was the incredible variety of animals you rarely see elsewhere: Okapis, Asian wolves, snow leopards, and majestic gorillas. Each enclosure feels thoughtfully designed, offering great visibility for visitors of all ages — even the little ones can see everything easily. There are lovely picnic areas, plenty of benches, and a good mix of food stands if you prefer a snack on the go. The children’s playgrounds — both outdoor and covered — are fantastic for a little break between exhibits. We also loved the dinosaur section, which adds a fun and educational twist to the visit. Tickets cost around €22–25 per person, and you’ll want to allow at least 2–3 hours to fully enjoy the zoo without rushing. A perfect day out for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to spend a relaxed, inspiring afternoon surrounded by nature and wildlife!

Tickets can be purchased from the zoo... Arrived around 11:30pm and took a tour around 2 hours exploring around the zoo... We were excited to see animals but unfortunately we wouldn't find some animals while some of them are in deep sleep.. Area maintained well and directional signage available to guide visitors

Great day out. Lovely time of year to visit, not too hot so the animals aren't hiding out of the sun. Alot of food/icecream places are closed but didnt bother us but just note to bring snacks. We ate at the meerkat restaurant at the end. We got to see them setting up for wild lights, looks beautiful

A fantastic day out for all the family. We visited during the week in term time and it was practically empty which we loved. A HUGE mix of animals to see and some great little cafes. Only downside is the lack of seating near animal enclosures - but plenty in the picnic areas. Relatively flat route. We spent around five hours in total here.

My most favorite place in Dublin. A very huge park with old trees and beautiful greens. Lots of great spots and of-course the deers. A well connected and accessible place to disconnect from the city and enjoy some peace and nature.

One of the most magical places in Dublin, so close to city center it is the biggest park of such proximity in Europe. If you are looking for nature, huge green areas , deers, trees then this might be a good day out. You can use public transport which takes you straight into the visitor center or you can freeroam by car.

Absolutely loved visiting Phoenix Park! It’s incredibly spacious and peaceful — perfect for a walk, picnic. I was amazed by how clean and green everything was, even though it’s right in the city. There are plenty of trails, open fields, and beautiful views. A must-visit if you’re in Dublin and want a break from the busy streets.

Absolutely beautiful park that is home to numerous historical sites and even the Irish president. Supposedly there is also a large population of fallow deer but unfortunately I never got to see any.

LOVED this place! Visited briefly on the open top bus tour and went back a couple of days later to go to the visitors centre and spot the deer. Absolutely lovely staff in the visitors centre and cafe, plenty of parking and great paths for youngters/prams/wheelchairs. Had an amazing tour of the castle (original house) and Fergus in the visitor centre directed us to the best place to see the deer. Visitors centre was great for adults and children to have a look around and find out about the history of the park in a fun way.

Truly a dreamlike park. Even when you feel tired, if the weather is pleasant, an indescribable desire to walk awakens within you, and you find yourself wandering its paths for hours. I wasn’t lucky enough to come across the deer, but the birds create such a melody that you feel as if you’ve stepped into a fairy tale. Sunlight filtering through the trees, spotless paths, a refreshing atmosphere… all of it together makes this place feel like an oasis hidden in the heart of the city. For anyone wishing to connect with nature, breathe deeply, and feel time slow down, it is an unforgettable stop.

Just spent 3 nights here. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Great spot for families. Kids really enjoyed it especially the animal petting farm. They loved the play ground and tractor ride. Lots to keep them entertained. Also great entertainment for adults including bingo and music in the evenings. Nice selection of hot food in the shop at a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our large group. Very relaxed and friendly campsite! Toilets and showers were ok. No toilet paper or soap available which was an inconvenience but other than that we had no complaints! Will definitely be back

So glad ranchos has reopened, had a great weekend. Eoin, oisin and the team have done a great job cleaning and rebuilding it, the new cafe is a great addition and the menu is perfect and delicious. Can't wait to see what else they add. Tractor ride is great not just for kids but and its free and that includes the muddy pool they drive into.

We stayed one night as we were passing through the area. Eoin was very welcoming, the site was well laid out, good lighting to the toilets( which are a bit rustic but kept clean and tidy). The animals were a huge hit with the kids and the play area.

Fantastic place to go camping with young children! You have access to the petting farm with horses, pigs, deer, snakes, lizards, rabbits etc, horse rides, tractor rides, playground, cafe and indoors play zone all included in the price you pay to camp. In the evening there is a frog hunt, fire pits, it is a really good place to visit. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the water was not reliable for showers etc

Visited in April 2017 with our two kids 7 and 4. Very good value - €6 per child and €3 per adult. No time limit, spend as long as you like. Has lots of attractions all free - playground, petting zoo (bunnies, snakes, lizards), donkey and pony rides, go cart track, sandpits, farm animals to feed, indoor play center and café with hot food and lots of seating with reasonable food prices but also picnic areas if you want to bring your own. Staff were very friendly. When my daughter was upset after spilling a drink the owner spent over 10 mins joking with her to cheer her up and gave both kids a free lollipop. Lots of free parking too. Highly recommended.

Great day out for family's.... All the staff are so friendly. Its great value for money and plenty activities for the kids. Wear wellies and old clothes ;-)

The owner is an absolute gent. As a venue it's a bit rough around the edges but the kids loved it. Loads of animals to interact with and a massive play ground. They even have a tractor ride.

We visited two weeks ago and it was definitely worth it! The staff were friendly and welcoming. There are rides for both kids and adults, which made it fun for the whole family. We also enjoyed the zoo - a nice bonus to the day. The only downside was the long waiting time for every ride. Other than that, we had a great time and would recommend visiting.

Generally good, I'd give it 4.5 stars in fairness. October turned out to be a good time to visit, still a bit of atmosphere but fewer crowds and less queuing. Good variety of rides, and the staff were very pleasant - friendly, and helpful. The zoo/ raptor area and petting zoo were fun and well worth the visit. Again, lovely staff. Otherwise the rides were fun, value for money, thrilling enough and well run / maintained. Worth a special mention - a really decent amount of Blue Badge parking in the car park well above average. More places should follow suit. On the down side, the 5 D cinema was very disappointing. The movement of the seats was out of sync with the movie, the 3D element was all but non existent. It was the only attraction we all thought wasn't up to par. Overall though, very good value for money including the gift shop.

Our 3 year old had the best day at Emerald park. We went on a Sunday and there wasn't any wait for the junior zone rides. Even the adult rides were only about 10-15 minutes wait. Plenty to do and see. Great experience walking into the Lemur enclosure. Food in the restaurant was amazing, massive portions and great value.

Brilliant day out. Went with a 5 and a 2 year old, the youngest is 96cm tall and he could go on almost all of the rides in the junior zone, which has a minimum limit of 95cm. There were about 10 rides they could go on (that we found, anyway), so they were thrilled. There's also really big playgrounds for them to run around in and expend energy. We didn't really have to queue, and we could easily leave the buggy by every ride whilst we went on with the kids. There were lots of benches available to sit.down and rest when needed. The best part of the day was the Tricky Trail, there for the Halloween season - it was amazing! Lots of interaction with the staff who.couldnt have been friendlier. We'd like to go back in the summer and when they're a little older too. One thing is that the online interactive map kept freezing, so get a paper map if you can.

The park is not in county Dublin and there is not Public transport from Dublin City centre. The day that we went they were not many people as It was raining quiet a lot in the morning. So, we didn't have to wait long. The park is divided in two main sections: zoo and attractions. The attraction area could be also divided between adults and children. There is enough attractions to spend the day. In the zoo area, for me the star was the secretary bird. The first time I see one so close. There is a show where they showed you three raptors: secretary bird, bold eagle and falcon. It was really impressive to see these majestic birds.

Really incredible place to visit. The quality and amenities there are fantastic. It was a great day out, plenty of toilets and snack locations (important for the kids), and the food was excellent and very reasonable priced. The rides there are very good, something for everyone! Would really recommend!

I liked tayto park since I was a child, so here are some things that I love and dont love: >The bigger rides are amazing. My personal favourites are the Endeavour and the Cú Chulainn. They make your stomachs tingle and adrenaline flow. The Cú has THE drop that me and my body will never forget, but the tracks are so loud. >The smaller ones are mighty, eg. Flight school and Air race. They're good for the family but bring the same joy as the others. >I miss when Tayto owned the park as they would give you free crisps after you went. But what I do appreciate about the new ownership is the addition of Tír na nÓg. I liked the Quest, the Celtic Dreamer was average at best, but Na Fianna Force was so good I went twice, even with a torn ACL. My leg felt stable even though it is a suspended coaster. >It seems the junior zone is fun for little kids, as it was for me when I was small. At my grown age, I still like the Pony Monorail. >The food is exquisite. I loved them swirly chips around a stick, and dont even get me started on The Lodge. It's a big wooden carvery that serves great dishes for a large volume of people. Their chips are amazing, and I like their breaded chicken, especially the Parmigiana. Love, love, love. >The staff are lovely. They are usually young people who initiate a bit of friendly talk before the ride starts. I think they are very chill. One thing is, the rides take a good 5-10 minutes to let people in and secure. >The one star taken away from my review is just from personal interactions. The clientele can be really shabby, as the teenagers are cheeky and just some strange people around the park. Overall, I really like the one and only theme park in Ireland.

We had a lovely time here over the weekend. I was really pleased with the experience and the prices are great, usually these type of places are expensive but this was not. Food was also reasonably charged. My daughter loved the bouncy castles and go karts. Some of the animals were hiding in their huts so we didn't see them all but was nicely laid out and the animals seemed happy and well cared for.

Fantastic place to spend the whole day really. Very clean, taken care of and entertaining.Kids had amazing time running around, checking on animals, the educational centre is fantastic! The restaurant has delicious food and the oeices are very reasonable. Can highly recommend!!

I visited on a weekend. Though my group of 4 people got tickets at the counter on arrival, it is recommended to book tickets in advance to avoid waiting time or disappointment. The entire place is designed for kids. There are many exotic birds and animals. Some are placed in small cages whereas some are in open fenced areas. There is a separate playground for kids too. Good place to visit in a group.

Lots of pros: food and beverages are reasonable in quality and price. We were told no pizza before 12:30, but then we saw someone with one at 12:15 🤨 The animals seem well cared for and they have many species. The playground was a lot of fun for the kids The road is very narrow so you might have a hairy moment trying to squeeze through.

Clonfert farm is the best pet farm in the whole of Ireland and excellently maintained. We could discover a lot of exotic animals and birds like marmoset , racoons , meerkats , Alpacas , wild birds from Latin America , Africa , East Asia etc. Feeding is limited to very few animals though. The Fairy trail, artefacts, Decor , Enclosures, details on the exotic animals are intriguing. The play facilities are one of the farm’s standout features. There are multiple outdoor playgrounds scattered throughout the park with Mini golf, Kids Buggy Ride, Bouncing Castle , Mini zip line and much more . There’s also an indoor soft play area, Barn Coffee shop, cafe , BBQ Area and Birthday venues Overall a great place to visit with family & kids

Good location. Plenty of parking. Lots of shade. But very very expensive! We paid over €50 for one adult and two kids. The Japanese gardens are wonderful, but actually very small. We were expecting something bigger considering the high price. The various gardens are lovely to walk around. The grounds are immaculate. Very friendly and very helpful staff.

Great afternoon spent at stud. Beautiful gardens and tour was packed full of information. We saw some legends during tour and mums and foals. In the interactive experience is fun. Tasty food in restaurant too

Absolutely loved this place. I travelled with two 7yr old boys who loved it from start to finish. They loved the race experience, the waterfall in St Fiachras garden, the foals, the fairy garden was a big hit. They spent a long time in the Japanese Gardens, exploring all the nooks and crannies and walking the stepping stones. There was none of the usual "I'm tired" or "I'm hungry". It was all go.

I throughly enjoyed my few hrs here. The food was nice, no queing and plenty of parking. Priced not too expensive, per person, but for a small family it could be alot, and we didnt do a tour. The Japanese garden was a delight, the sole reason for my visit. Though don't be expecting peace n quiet. Pristine and exceptional maintenance of the gardens. I'll be visiting again.

Fabulous Place to Visit. Beautiful Grounds to walk around, Amazing Trees, Plants & Shrubs, lovely to see and pet the horses. Visit the Fairy Trail, see the ducks and walk around St. Fiachra's Garden, so peaceful. Loved the Irish Racehorse Experience, very interesting and good fun. Lovely Gift Shop & Restaurant.

National is always worth a visit loads to do. Our kids loved. Play of play areas, coffee shops, horses and walks. Japanese Garden is beautiful. Highly recommend a visit.

Very unfriendly staff. The Chinese girl treated us badly at the entrance, shouting to us. Promised to get inside the shop in less than 40min, waiting 1h15 min and didn't get in. I am so disappointed with the staff service. There were more people complaining at the time.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but was very happy to discover that there was a timed, guided tour with limited numbers. There's a chance to look around the visitors centre before you board a private bus to the first stop - Nowth. The tour was about an hour long, but the time went very quickly - despite the awful weather. Next stop was Newgrange. Again we had plenty of time to listen to the guide and take photographs. The highlight was being given entrance to the middle of the tomb and seeing the skill that went into making it. Wonderful, humbling experience. Well worth making the trip and very good value for money. Compared to Stonehenge, it's much better. Better value, more interesting, proper guided tours, plenty of opportunities to take pictures and limited to small groups. Stonehenge is, in comparison, almost £30 each; packed like sardines onto a bus; told to 'move along' when you do get to the stones and no guide.

Super neat place that supposedly pre dates the pyramids. The tour guides were really knowledgeable and cracked a few puns. Very neat to see all the ancient pictographs, and view some of the symbols that are present all over Ireland. I really enjoyed this visit. Perfect weather when we went.

You cannot miss visiting this UNESCO World Heritage site. Book ahead otherwise you won’t get in. Book via the dedicated website. It’s simply amazing to see and have the guide tell you about civilisations Neolithic and 3200BC. It’s the oldest site I’ve ever done.

Great place to visit, young and old. From petting the animals and feeding the sheep, holding day old chick's, Plenty of space for children to run around. Play areas for children too.

Newgrange is an amazing site to behold. So ancient and mind blowing. Keep an eye on the weather. We did Knowth on our tour and it was very wet and mainly outside. Shout out to Tour guide Suzy, she’s so passionate about landscape archeology. She’s very knowledgeable and good looking and wish I could have got her number. Good stuff!!

A piece of prehistorical history. It's really impressive how these structures came to us across the millennia. There is a visitor center with an interesting exhibition. You can choose different kinds of guided tours: only new Grange or also knowth and sought. Sometimes, as for us, you can't visit the tumulus inside. Very good experience.

If you enjoy ruins then you must see this. It's an amazing set up on a hill that overlooks the countryside. The remaining ruins are set in three sections each have some hidden gems. Terrific photo opportunities as well and based on the size of the parking area (very small). Not a ton of people go there at one time. I really enjoyed the history behind it. If you enjoy history and can imagine the fortifications it's a terrific place to see.

A phenomenal ruined castle situated in a breathtaking spot high above the valley, once owned by the great medieval statesman and knight William Marshal, this should be top of your list if you're in the vicinity. Free entry and parking.

Rock of Dunamase is a fantastic little stop just off the main road. We were driving from Dublin to Killarney. I was looking for a place to stop and stretch our legs. This was perfect; better than I hoped for. There is a small little parking lot. From there you can see the ruins. It's just a short walk up the hill to the site where you can walk amongst the castle ruins. The views on top are incredible. You can really soak in the beauty that is Ireland. Free. Easy to Access. Stunning.

Very cool castle ruin to stop at just south west of Dublin on your way south to Cashel or Cork, planned it as our first stop in Ireland after the long flight. Arrived around 10:45am and it was quiet. Very few people around. Beautiful views at the top. (Slight incline up but easy enough) no bathrooms tho so find a bush lol. Plenty of parking at the bottom of the trail next to the old church. Tour busses do drop off crowds of people so go early if possible.

Beautiful castle. It has parking just on the access door. It is bigger than it looks and the view it’s just amazing. Definitely will recommend to visit it.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was tight, but we were still able to find spots along the road. 5 minute walk up the hill to wonderful views. The kids loved all the nooks and crannies they could explore. Even with a few car loads of people, it didn’t feel crowded. Great stop if you’re driving by.

Amazing castle.. love the history. Our guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. The tour takes about an hour inside and will cost money, exploring the grounds is free and maybe 30 to 45 minutes for that. The Braveheart castle... worth seeing.

Trim Castle is a beautiful historical landmark to visit, with a rich and intriguing history. The castle grounds are free to visit and explore, whereas entering the castle is possible for a small fee of €5 per person. We decided to take the guided tour, which was led by William. I highly, highly recommend this. William is very knowledgeable and humorous. His knowledge regarding the castle's history goes far beyond what you would expect. He answered any questions posed by the group with sheer joy and enthusiasm. The tour takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, and takes you through the various rooms and floors in the castle. The view from the rooftop is amazing. Thank you William! It has been a pleasure to listen to you.

I really enjoyed my visit to this castle. Its history is fascinating. Plus, the views over the city from above are excellent. 1. Largest Castle in Ireland: Trim Castle is the largest Anglo-Norman stronghold in Ireland, covering an area of ​​approximately 30,000 m². It was built in the 12th century by Hugh de Lacy as the center of the Lordship of Meath, and its massive walls with towers and a moat made it virtually impregnable. 2. Unique Architecture: The castle's central keep (donjon) has a rare cruciform shape with twenty corners, which distinguishes it from typical Norman fortresses. This three-story structure was erected on the site of an ancient ringfort and is surrounded by a massive curtain wall 450 meters long.   3. Film Role: Trim Castle became famous as the filming location for the movie "Braveheart," starring Mel Gibson, where it stood in for the medieval walls of York and London. The war film "The Big Red One," starring Mark Hamm, was also filmed here.

We visited Trim Castle on a sunny afternoon and absolutely loved it! Even though it’s mostly ruins today, you can still feel how grand it must have been — Ireland’s largest Norman castle, right by the River Boyne. The grounds are free to walk around, and entry to the tower is just €4 per person. The view from the top is fantastic, and it’s fun to know parts of Braveheart were filmed here. A beautiful mix of history, atmosphere, and scenery — definitely worth a visit!

Trim castle has a free guided tour, I believe every hour. Interesting facts, and three built models, showing how it was built up through the years. Quite a few towers, had fallen down, or been scavenged. There is a large cathedral tower falling down across from the castle. And, when you get above the Keep, you can see by most of the stones surrounding the castle where the walls were, a sheep gate, and where most of the towers stood.

A really great old castle, one of the largest because of the area inside the walls is quite big. There’s a really good guided tour inside the Castle Keep. You have to take the tour to see the inside, well worth it. The tour takes you all the way to the top, which is a fantastic view over the area and the town. I was lucky it was a sunny warning when I got there and took the tour and it started to rain just as I was leaving the castle. Get there early at opening before the crowds. There’s lots to see inside the Keep with models of what the Keep used to look like. You can walk around inside the castle grounds with lots of good views of the Keep from the outside. The tour guide was very informative and happy to answer my many questions.

A unique distillery tour that starts with a good basic explanation of the process in a very comfortable setting. You get to walk the production floor and get to get up close the stills and tanks. Was glad to see that they take drinking and driving seriously and provided take a way bottles for the driver so they can do the dew once they get home. The smells of the bonded warehouse were amazing and we unexpectedly got to walk the dog. Shout out to Maeve thank you for the great tour. A must if your touring distillery’s in Ireland.

Our tour guide was absolutely awesome and made the experience so enjoyable to learn about the history. The tastings and overall grounds were well worth it. Although there isn’t much to do in the town, this is a favorite whiskey of mine and would love to return. Getting to make your own blend was super cool!

The Tullamore D.E.W. whiskey distillery tour was one of the best things we did while in Ireland. Starting with a warm drink with Mr. Frankie O’Callahan, the bartender , continuing with our tour guide John , and our bus driver , Jim we had the best afternoon. What started as a 2 hour tour ended up being an all afternoon adventure. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and understood whiskey. From beginning to end a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

We did the first tour of the day so it was nice that it started with a delicious Irish coffee. Our tour guide was a very friendly and engaging young lady who walked us through the process followed by a little tram ride to the warehouse and finished with a tasting of some whiskey. Would highly recommend a stop here

We had a wonderful experience on the distillery tour! Maeve and Jim were fantastic guides — they shared the rich history of Tullamore Whiskey and walked us through every step of the making process with great enthusiasm. They answered all our questions and made the entire visit truly memorable. Highly recommend taking this tour!

It is my second time doing this tour. It is very informative and cool experince. Drinking a sall sample from barrel in the warehouse is a great experince. Brendan was our guide and we had such a great time.

We had such a good time on our tour with Emma as our tour guide and Jim as our mini-tour bus driver! Our favorite tour so far - it's a bit on the pricier side at 45 euro, but it felt worth it for the experience. We got to start off the tour with an Irish coffee and overview of the whisky making process and the history of Tullamore D.E.W. Emma did a great job of keeping it fun/informative while keeping it moving and answering questions along the way. We then got to walk the still house floor, which was super cool! It was a maintenance day when we went, but it was interesting to see where and how the whisky gets distilled. Next, the snug was probably my favorite experience. The snug was hidden behind a wall of whisky barrels in the warehouse, and the "dog" that Emma used to draw whisky out of one of the barrels for a cask tasting was a cool touch. You can't take pictures in here for safety reasons (the alcohol in the air is definitely strong!), but it was definitely a cool space. Finally, the tasting of the original, rum cask, and the 12 year was great, too. The decor and the vibe in the tasting room feels almost like you're in a cozy lab. There were droppers with water to try the whisky with, after trying them neat. For those driving, they also had little bottles and funnels to pour part of the tasters into, so they could still finish enjoying the experience later. As we returned to the gift shop, we got a little demo of how the "Be the Blender" blend-your-own bottle works. Overall, I definitely recommend this tour. The people working here are super sweet and seem to enjoy what they do. Emma at the counter (a different Emma than the one who guided us on our tour) was kind enough to give us some great food recommendations in town as well.

This is one of the most famous archeological sites in Ireland that is a burial ground for ancient people over 5,000 years ago. Caution: the walk is long and very steep.

Historical Landmark with exceptional views and well worth a visit. Be prepared for a bit of a hike but well worth the effort, guides and information when you get there.

Beautiful view from the view. The tomb is maybe not overly impressive but depends on what you expect. It's a short, few minutes walk from car park but pretty steep.

This was better than I had expected. It is very easy to get to and very well maintained. There is a bit of a hike up to the main cairn but definitely worth it. Amazing views of surrounding g countryside.

Great visit in spite of the wind. The place is beautiful with a great view of the surrounding area. We also really enjoyed the guided tour. I would recommend it if you are not afraid of getting through a steep enough climb.

An impressive megalithic site that requires a bit of hill walking to reach. Sadly, I don't think it is possible to get a key to enter the cairn anymore, but it is still worth a trip.

Beautiful place! Even though the house is undergoing renovations so we couldn't visit it (and nobody advised us when we bought the tickets), the gardens are worth the whole visit. Amazing array of plants and flowers and trees, even a fairy garden for the delight of all the visitors ☺️ Super recommendable!

I recently visited Belvedere House Gardens & Park, and had a great time. First of all, staff at the entrance are helpful and attentive. They gave us a guidance map and made sure we do not miss anything. Belvedere itself is a combination of serene walking paths through the forest, and the historic charm. Ideal for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Whether you're into photography, history, nature, or just looking for a tranquil escape, Belvedere is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

It's a lovely place with beautiful scenery and walks. My favorite was the fairy garden but it's all truly worth the visit. It'll transcend you back in time.

Very beautiful location. Nice little outing and feeling as if in a old english series. The ice cream is really good and the staff working in the cafe are friendly and kind with the kiddies. Only drawback was that they busy doing some maintenance at the moment however it is still a lovely outing lots of little things to do at a reasonable price.

5 stars is not enough! We visited the distillery on Easter Sunday, guided tour included us plus 4 other people and amazing Darragh (apologies if I misspelled the name!). We got a tasting glass as a souvenir and the tour started with a drink with ginger ale and Kilbeggan Black. For drivers - ginger ale, made with Irish apples - very tasty 😍 Darragh gave us a great tour, explaining the history, the process and being involved and very attentive to our questions! We have never been to such a historic distillery and Kilbeggan was a great choice! Friendly staff and interesting place to visit. We felt the tour was quite rushed and the tasting was disappointing (only one type of whiskey to taste test), although we visited in a large group towards the end of the day so this may have played a part. The bar was lovely after and we picked up a few trinkets from the gift shop. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Splendid tour. We had a great explanation and tour of the old distillery that was initially used, as well as the one used for small batches nowdays. The guide had excellent knowledge on the topic. (Added photo but don’t want to give spoilers)

Its a fantastic building and although I never ventured inside the outside had more than enough to catch my interest. The water being released makes for some lovely photos from across the river. It really is lovely on a sunny day. Well worth a visit even to admire from a far, enjoy

Brilliant museum, so much to look at and my little fella especially loved the trenches out the back. Plenty of things to interact with too! Has a cafe on-site but didn't go into it, from the looks of it I think it was just scones and chocolate bars along with coffees. Would highly recommend visiting!

What a great day out. My 10 year old and 2 of his friends had a blast in trenches and even tried reinacting the war. The museum is lovely also. The staff were amazing and so very friendly. Will definately visit again.

Fantastic place to visit. Wonderful and informative exhibits of modern irish history and an outdoor representation of a WW1 trench. Took a few hours to get through everything and could have spent more time here if I could. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will make a return visit before the year is out. (6 stars if I could give it)

My second visit to the Cavan County Museum, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first visit. The WWI Trench Warfare installation was open this time, though only about half, it looked like. It was still interesting and informative about what the soldiers would have experienced in the trenches. The indoor museum is amazingly thorough and two visits aren’t enough to take it all in. This visit the top floor has a new exhibit about the Irish War of Independence, and there is so much history, pain and eventual triumph, though many years before peace. Here are just a couple of photos of the archeological exhibits that are so fascinating.

A great place to spend a day, good variety of exhibitions to take in. You do need to give yourself time to wander round as there are three floors and an outside garden and area where there is a replica WW1 trench to explore. Lovely little cafe to have a bite and a cuppa as well. A really great experience, we will definitely be back.

A very well maintained park with many trails that can be done all of them in about 1h30-2h (about 5-6Km). The orange and purple trails are not suitable for wheelchairs. The dogs loved it!

Great find. All trails labelled and an absolutely fascinating place. Had the place to ourselves, probably on account if the weather. Little all weather free visitor centre. Benches around the trails to rest / look at the views. Information boards excellent.

Amazing park, we had the pleasure to meet on a sunny day! A lot of neolithic history! The park has different trails, do all of them if you can, because you can be surprised at any moment. Most spots have QR code so you can get deeper in the explanations. Highly recommended!

Great park, with lots of history. Well presented along the fantastically maintained walkways. Some really nice views. Not a very difficult walk, and definitely much nicer with the sun shining.

Gerry was the guide during our visit, & what a guide he was. As a miner in this pit until it closed, he was informative & could tell afew funny stories along the way. He explained about how the equipment worked & how the men would have to position themselves to work safely. He & my dad, who also worked in the pits as a teenager, were able to compare notes, albeit different types of pit. This is probably the most engaging mining experience I've visited. There is an area of photos & old equioment/tools as well as a short video to help explain the mining jobs of the men and a nice clean cafe. I would highly recommend a visit here, worth the money. Added bonus, spectacular views of Lough Allen & the valley, especially when the sun is shining.

If you've got a weekend in Leitrim/Roscommon, this is worth the visit. Our guide was an ex-miner. His accent was tough for me (from Dublin) so I'd be interested to know if foreign tourists think similarly. The mine itself was pretty interesting, a bit chilly so a fleece/jumper would be recommended, and there's a small space for extra reading & a video. The cafe is ok with a small gift shop. There's plenty of parking & there's gorgeous views of Lough Allen. The driving route to Arigna is on some tiny, narrow country roads.

Really great experience, history of the mines was so interesting, our guide Eamon was lovely to chat to and hear his tales of the mines, its great the guides are ex mine workers to hear first hand stories. The cafe was so relaxed and lovely food, the staff were so welcoming and friendly, highly recommend a trip to the mines.

Arigna Mining Experience - An amazing tour into the history of Irish coal mining! A tour with former miners reveals 400 years of history at Arigna mines. In 1958, local coal powered the ESB power station, which closed in 1990. The miners had a grueling job: working on their knees in narrow 45cm faces, in dust and darkness. Awesome experience. I definitely recommend visiting!

Maurice an ex-miner did a private tour with us. He provided great explanations but also stories of the time he was digging coal. Great visit.

My wife and I toured the Arigna mine in May 2025. There was just the two of us and of course our guide. I think his name was Ian, but can't remember for sure <sorry>. It was fascinating to hear the stories of the brave people working in the mines. It was hard and dirty work to say the least. Besides the potential inherent danger, we were told the vein of coal they would try to extract was only 22 inches thick. Well worth the time to see how some people had to earn a living. There is a small gift shop and cafe if you're hungry for something quick. There is also a nice view of the surrounding area in the lunch area if you stay for something to eat.

“I Came for a Souvenir, Left Wanting to Redecorate My Entire House.” Belleek Pottery is dangerous… in the best way. You walk in thinking, “I’ll just browse,” and suddenly you’re mentally redesigning your kitchen to match that gorgeous teapot. The tour was like watching art come to life — these artisans are so skilled, I started questioning my own ability to even fold a fitted sheet. The attention to detail is unreal, and the history behind the pottery makes each piece feel extra special. The shop at the end? Let’s just say my luggage is now 10 lbs heavier and I have zero regrets. Highly recommend — just bring some self-control (or don’t, it’s worth it).

Lovely visit to see how the pottery is made. Lovely very fine pottery. Good value and lots of choice in shop. Tearoom is also very nice with homemade scones.

Had a "factory" tour of Belleek pottery today. Fascinating place - everything is hand made, no machines! We weren't allowed to take pictures inside but it was amazing. They have been in business at this location for 168 years and it's the kind of place that generations of families work here. About 70 artisans work here and they have EVERY master mold from every design ever made. They could replicate any pottery they've ever made in their entire history. About 65% of their pottery is sold to North America! I, of course, had to buy... So glad they offer shipping!

From the perspective of a late 30s, hairy, tattooed man, I grew up hearing about grandma’s Belleek collection. I brought my mom to Ireland in May and we did the tour. I was the youngest person on the tour and I could have spent a whole day watching everyone at their craft. The whole process is fascinating and the skill is so impressive. The end product is really something special. This place is really worth a visit and they also have an online store if you can’t get there

Fantastic experience that I'd recommend to everyone. We decided to go here on the way back to Knock airport and it proved to be a great decision. The staff are fantastic and really get their love and passion for the animals across. As it was out of season there were only 6 of us visiting for this 2 hour session so it was a real personal experience. As if having Eagles and Owls flying and landing on your arm wasn't amazing enough there's an array of other animals to get to see and pet from ferrets and rabbits to giant pigs and even a skunk. Absolutely fantastic time had.

Staff were very friendly. Price was very good I thought €54 for 2 adults and 2 kids over 10. Animals very well cared for and very friendly, so obviously well looked after. It was lovely to hear that they nurse injured animals back to health and release those able to be released. Kids loved the place and the 2 hours flew by. A++++

We had a great experience visiting the raptor sanctuary. Great demonstration of the flying birds of prey as well as a fun petting zoo and other rehabilitated animals on the grounds. They're doing great work and it's satisfying to know that you're helping to fund a good cause while enjoying your visit.

Great place went with family and both girls who worked with the birds where great so much info and all the animals have a great life within the grounds

What a place! A wonderful experience, worth every cent! You can feel that the birds and all the other animals are in such good care. The two ladies who showed us the place were amazing, very friendly and helpful. Despite the miserable weather they made sure we had a great time. They even got some umbrellas for us to use during the tour and the show! I learned a lot about the animals and I highly recommend this place!

We came here back in 2017 and loved it. So as we decided to come back and do it again. This time was even better. We were the only ones there. The girls were brilliant, they talked as if the place was full. They clearly love the animals and love what they do. Thanks again for a great day. It cost €20 each, well worth it. 😊

Very beautiful waterfall, there is plant of designated parking nearby with ice cream van, play area, lake view, sheep, tea house and the route to waterfall. This route is accessible for mobility users up to the waterfall. There is choice to climb stairs and come round to the tea house. Rest areas and toilet are nearby in parking.

Lovely quiet calm spot to visit. Family and I had a small picnic. We were fortunate with lovely weather for the day.

Beautiful location with a lake on one side, at the carpark, and then a small walk uphill through a canopy of trees to the gorgeous waterfall. Two pathways available to reach the waterfall, both have steps about 1/2 ways up but also stopping areas and seats on approach to sit and enjoy the sounds and views. Paved pathways in place but may become slippy with rain. Some light to moderate exertion required to reach the top and loop back around - not suitable for buggies etc. lovely cafe with information point, bathrooms, play area (outside), and small crafts at the entrance to the walk also. Parking is substantial but due to popularity it may require a little time to get a spot, but generally appears to have a steady turnover of spaces available. Lovely ice-cream van onsite in carpark also, (seasonal) - well worth a stop for a quick chat and nibble if inclined. Overall - a must see!

Absolutely beautiful Waterfall. It is really high and the sound of the water falling is so peaceful. You can go up the steps at the side of the waterfall just to watch the water fall at such a great height. Really worth a visit and no charge to visit it.

Glencar Waterfall is a stunning natural feature located in County Leitrim, Ireland. It is nestled in the picturesque Glencar Valley, near the village of Glencar, and is part of the Glencar Lake area. The waterfall is known for its beauty, especially during the wetter months, when it cascades down from a height of about 15 meters (49 feet) into a serene pool below. The area around the waterfall is lush and wooded, making it a great spot for nature walks and photography. The waterfall gained additional fame when it was mentioned in W.B. Yeats' poem The Stolen Child, adding to its cultural significance.

This is a really great historical landmark right next to the Diamond, the town center with lots of great shopping and eating. The fee is very small and the tour takes about 20 minutes (more if you linger). The staff is very friendly, and the facilities are very clean. This was one of our favorite landmarks, as it had a sf guided tour with lots of great historical information, and some rooms were staged to replicate original conditions. It was a lot of fun and really interesting.

Fantastic place to visit, I will never forget this castle and the history of it. I went there in time of Halloween and We met the Magician, Nemo. He prepared great magic show for visitors a specially kids. € 5 was the ticket for adults.

Worth a visit. Entrance fee €5. The castle does not have parking. You can park in the city for €0.30-€0.50 per hour. The castle is well preserved, worth a visit.

I was hoping you'd get to go into the outer corners; they have access but there's no way to enter (doorways suspended in the air). Nice little castle otherwise. The woodwork was a plus! They did a good job repairing. Took 30-45 minutes to explore. Parking was kinda hard to find. Sept 11, 2024.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Donegal Castle — 10/10, would “mind our heads” again. As two women who barely clear five feet, we’ve never once been accused of being too tall for anything. But apparently, medieval architecture had other plans. Between ducking through doorways, climbing spiral stairs that could double as a quad workout, and pretending we owned the place for 0.2 seconds, Donegal Castle gave us everything we didn’t know we needed. Highly recommend — just bring good shoes, a sense of humor, and maybe a helmet for the tall folks. 🏰😂

Intact castle with 4 floors open to the public. Beautiful castle , located right in town. We enjoyed our visit, worth your time.

Used the OPW card to gain free admission. Surprised a castle employee when the card was presented....she was rather smart-aleck and then saw the card and knew she had to now do some actual work besides sitting there and taking people's money. The castle is small but quaint and realistic. The 2d and 3rd floors are awesome.

I confirm Sam's information, the big cairn and the dolmens on the field are visitable, only the Visitor Center is closed. Theoretically it should be opened soon. I guess that the toilet was not in use when we visited the site, but a young guy offered fresheners, cafe, beverages and some snacks.

Very interesting place. Don’t miss the circles etched in stone. It’s a walking tour on your own. It’ll be great when the centre is open and someone to explain it all.

Cathedrals and Castles are wonderful, but walking around a Megalithic cemetery gave me such a feeling of wonder. To see how these rocks were arranged over 6000 years ago and to read about the kilos of cremated remains conn me to my roots in Ire.

There wasn't much to it. I normally like historical sites, but there wasn't really anything to see. The new center is supposed open soon. I could see displays inside, but I couldn't enter. It might be fantastic once the OPW officially opens the building.

This place is amazing.It's about one thousand to fifteen hundred years older than the pyramids.It appears, it was some kind of a burial ground.It's well worth seeing truly is amazing

Highly recommend a stop here. Can spend as long or as little as you wish walking around the site. Easy/free parking and 5€ admission. Cleanest bathrooms!
