The nature is gorgeous in the area. The climb to the cave church is easy and pleasant. The cave church is truly a MIRACLE. The entrance fee can be paid in cash in Bulgarian leva or Romanian lei.

When visiting this site, you park your car and walk past the gift kiosk and paid washrooms, following a dirt road through the trees. You’ll come to a set of stairs that lead up a hill. From the hilltop, you can see a rocky outcropping that once held other rock-hewn churches (now closed). Continue along the track until you reach the entrance to the site that is open to visitors. The entrance fee is paid there. The staff are knowledgeable and passionate about the local sites. An English-speaking staff member explained the history of the site and offered some literature to borrow, which helped us better understand the church and its frescoes, which are quite impressive. From there, you descend another set of stairs that take you back to the parking lot.

It was worth going and climbing the rocks. The rock churches were so spiritual, so special. It made me cry. Just tears coming down. I was overwhelmed. Such a secret place. You'll enjoy the wall paintings which were drawn in the 13th century. So amazing. The guides speak multiple languages, are very helpful, and nice. Must visit!!!

Historic church was hidden in the mountain. Somewhat difficult climbing to reach it while enjoy scenic view.

Small rock-hewn church. The man explaing is nice, he speaks roumanian too. The prices are 10 leva for adults and 5 leva reduced. You can pay in lei as well (but it's a bit more expensive than in leva 1 leva = 2.8 lei).

Awesome experience. The guide is really nice and explains all the history and all the paintings on the walls.

A short hike to get up there. A UNESCO heritage site with historical significance. It goes back some 800 years. The staff was very passionate and offered us a lot of background and explanation. Good panaromic views from the top.

Medieval fortress on a hill just outside the village of Cherven. Access is via 235 steps (according to son who counted them)! Small carpark with kiosk and cash desk - neither were open when we arrived around 09:45 but the cash desk was open when we came down. Costs 10 Lev for an adult and 5 for a student. Toilets were locked as they were broken. All signs are in English and Bulgarian and have info about a lot of the buildings. Spectacular views from the top, but are some sheer cliffs so watch young children. Very little shelter at the top, but at 10:00 it wasn't too bad. Lots of small lizards in the cracks of the brickwork.

A fortress that lasted between the ancient and medieval periods. It was the most important fortress during the Bulgarian Empire. Currently, the fortress is well preserved for how old it is and looks like a ruin straight out of The Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. The nature is exceptional, something unique in Europe and perhaps in the whole world.

The views from the top are great- the hike is fine when there’s stairs. Not so reassuring: a huge chunk of a rock broke off and fell into the staircase- made me a bit anxious. The fortress is extensive and just fun to walk around in. Nothing is too well taken care of and people carve their initials into the rocks, as there is no guide at the top. The qr codes next to the signs don’t do anything but give you the signs to read. Don’t scan the QR code at the bottom/at the car park- it’s an app that let‘s you scan bar codes that costs 0,01€ for the first day and then it’s 60€ a month- just use your regular phone camera. Entrance fee is about 3,50€ I think to remember- the little shop has no great sales, the bathroom costs but is in acceptable condition. Didn’t try the restaurant at the car park- very much liked the little dog.

Impressive fortress with beautiful views in all directions. There's a little bit of a climb to get to it, but it's well worth it. There are panels with explanations in both English and Bulgarian.

Extraordinary place with breathtaking panorama views. The fortress is really fascinating and its well preserved. The battle tower is iconic. The whole location has been used in the popular tv series “Game of Thrones”. I loved every part of the place and its perfect for families and large groups. I strongly recommend it, it is a must see!!!

Nothing special,but does hurt to be seen if you're passing by. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to "tour".

This arheological site is very lucky with such a devoted arheologist to manage it , as Oleg Alexandrov. Impressed by the results of his work - only 4 years of research at the site and such a big part of it is ready for conservation ...

The remains of a roman city. It is a nice place for a picnic in the weekend. There is a parking and a barbecue. There is a small fee to enter the ruins.

A calm and relaxing place, keeping the century old spirit of Sliven. We love visiting with the kids. The staff is very friendly. They offer bow shooting at targets, historical costumes and other souvenirs and games.

The tree is closed for visiting because it's slowly dying (or, maybe, dead already). It looks ancient and spiritual, but honestly, not attractive.

One of the symbol of the town. The Old Elm is around 1300 years old and Europe tree of the year. New married couples are taking pictures next to it with hopes their love to be as strong as the tree.

It is the place where mood of the city used to be measured. Public demonstrations and parades used to pass by the tree. Today most people arrange their important meetings by the tree. It remains the most definitive orientation marker for newcomers to the city. It is also part of the city coat of arms and will remain a historic marker for future generations.

My husband said it was a very nice and sturdy tree before... Now it's somewhat dead, but they still hope that one day a sapling will grow...

One of the most common meet-up spots. You really cannot miss it. Right next to the municipality of Sliven, in the city centre. Moreover, it's implemented as a emblem in the town's logo. It's really old elm tree, alive for more than 1300 years and it's still blooming during the spring.

After reading a lot of reviews, we came to know that all all river cruise bring the passengers to this place to show them Konstantsalieva House and Nativita Church. This house belonged to to some wealthy merchant in 17th century. Now it has been converted to a museum. The exterior wall looked like a mini fortress. There were many articles on display like bright fabrics, old furniture and other household articles which were very well preserved. All the things were kept in different small rooms. Therefore we all had to go in a queue. There was a souvenir shop below selling local cheese, jam, soaps, shampoo, wine etc.

This museum has been very popular and well preserved. Also, make sure you take some cash. Because in the cellar of the house, there are some very cool handmade and hand carved souvenirs. Very inexpensive..

Such a beautiful and well preserved house. My 6 y.o. Told at the he regrets the museum ends because he would have liked to have more things to visit. Do not avoid and read the explanations available in at least 4 languages in every room.

Nice place to understand how rich businessmen from old centuries used to live. Interesting to get the multiple influences that rules the construction and the decoration. Konstantsaliev's house deserves a visit that you can combine with the multiple churches and monasteries in the area.

A fascinating home owned by a wealthy merchant. The clever designs to protect the infants from starches from traveling marauders was interesting and very clever. Furniture was sparse but a visit well worth the time.

A very nice visit to a unique house, but 15 lev, c'mon! There are much more significant and impressive sites in the country for that entrance fee! Just by way of comparison, a combined ticket to visit 6 house museums in Koprivshititsa, which are more elaborate and historically significant, costs 15 lev.

A beautiful compound for the period. I did not go up the stairs as they were steep with no railing. My wife said it was interesting to observe.

It is very beautiful to find yourself in such a place full of history, it really makes you feel special being able to walk through it and imagine all the things that have been taking place ever since it was built. The entrance is 15 leva which you can pay by card/cash at the entrance. Beware it is a long distance to walk and mostly uphill. The view is breathtaking so it's worth it. Talking about the interior, it felt kitschy and totally not in harmony with the outside and with the idea of a thousand year old fortress.It was too modern and somehow in my head it didn't add up. But beside that, the surroundings are magnificent.

Amazing place with incredible views and so much history. The walk up is a bit steep, but totally worth it once you reach the top. The ruins are well preserved and the light show in the evening is awesome. Definitely a must-see if you visit Veliko Tarnovo!

The fortress is well kept and some parts are renovated very well. It takes you to the time when Bulgarian was under Ottoman occupation and how they lived before that. Really nice for a walk and the church is really nice inside.

Number one tip is to arrive when it opens before the crowds. Number two tip you must wear supportive shoes. Stay hydrated. Commanding views of the city and plenty of history to absorb. Should be included on any trip to the city.

Riveting experience exploring the old Bulgarian fortress monument. The area was not very crowded at around 13:00pm when my crew was there. The grounds are well preserved as well as clean. There is plenty to see with the Church at the summit and the meandering walls around the hill overlooking the city and yantra river. Free parking can be found by the yantra beach/ bridge, and from there a short walk or bus ride up to the site.

Just Wow..4 statues,along with a tall Obelisque,in the middle of Veliko Trnavo. You can enjoy the beautiful view of the town,and serve a cocktail near it.Great view above the city where you can chill!A must!

One of the most impressive monuments ive ever seen

Went for the Boris Denev gallery but sadly it was closed, however the statues and the surrounding view plus the walk across the bridge is very worth it should you find yourself in a similar situation when the building is closed.

This is a pretty epic monument. I’d have loved more info about the Assen Dynasty, but it’s cool no matter what. Huge in scale, with multiple horsemen statues surrounding the central spire. It’s visited quite a lot considering there’s not a lot around it. We spent 4 nights in our RV just below it. It was a fantastic thing to look out on in the morning.

Although the river is not what it was decades, even years ago (nowadays is almost dry), the canyon is a good place to visit. Climb up the eco-path but be careful because there're some dangerous spots. You can also go down to the waterfall (probably is dried out too) but again, exercise extreme caution.

A nice place to walk. Not so hard, quite easy. Beautiful nature with a nice view to the canion from above. You start from the cave (somewhere deep there is a bat colony...you need to have a strong light to see it) then you go on above the canion and at the end of the trail, a beautiful lake with a small waterfall awaits. About 2.5-3.5h to walk (with pictures included).

The view is amazing, the walk isn't a hard one, BUT mos of the road was so close to the clif, without handlier for safty, super dangures and scarry, also no network reception ....waterfall was dry, but the pool was very unique !

Beautiful place, you will reach it easy by car. During a hot day you can take a bath in a stream. There is a nice trail leading at the upper part all along the canyon, ending near the waterfall.

There is very steep path down towards the end of the trek to waterfall. The waterfall is nice approximately 5-6 meters high, but not breathtaking. A lot of mosquitoes! There is no place for swimming which upsets after all the effort. Worth it if one is staying a lot of time in the area and looking for timespending.

An interesting cave with a well maintained route and lighting. Please note it is best to accumulate a group of 15 people in order to enjoy the long route, which is otherwise closed (est.1 hour duration). As the day was hot and there were few visitors, we only had the opportunity to see the short 30 min route of the cave. It was still worth visiting and the labels were quite educational. Of particular interest to me were the many coins in higher parts of cave walls, as it is hard to imagine someone could have climbed to insert them there.

The walk to the entrance is not too difficult. The entrance fees have doubled from those advertised. Not good value anymore. Madura caves are much better value for money, much longer and with a guide (Bulgarian language only). This is just in do far then reverse route the same way you entered.

A steep trail takes you up into the mountain but not for people with knee problems or dizziness. Beautiful nature views.

Beautiful! Well, it was my first going inside a cave, so I might be a little subjective, but to me the visit was exhilarating! Not just the cave, but the path to the cave is breathtakingly beautiful, with water cascades and towering rocks. And lots, lots of green in spring. There is a short route that lasts around half an hour, and a longer one, with a guide, that lasts around an hour and includes another storey of the cave that is not accessible via the short route. Recommended warm clothes (the temperature inside is around 10-13 degrees all year round) and non slippery footwear.

I also highly recommend exploring the eco-paths starting from the cave—they lead to the charming towns of Bozhentsi and Tryavna, offering breathtaking views along the way. A truly magical place worth visiting!

It look like a nice place. But they didn’t let us in because they don’t accept payment with card, it would be ok if they said it in a polite way, however, not paying taxes and blaming clients for not having cash isn’t good anywhere anytime. Good luck.

Tryavna is a lovely place to visit and this museum also stands out. There are amazing wood carvings in there, so make sure to check it out if you are into arts.

The museum is a great place to spend your time. Since my last visit, there have been quite a few pleasant changes. There's a wonderful interactive hall with various activities for families with children. Some of the exhibitions, on the other hand, are geared toward adult visitors. Overall, the museum is excellent for all ages.

If you are in Gabrovo, be sure to visit this museum. Everything is translated into English. You can spend a couple of hours here and get acquainted with the local humor.

Outside the museum is a fragmented Charlie Chaplin statue which shows promise for a humorous visit ... however this is short-lived. I actually came out of the museum feeling depressed, but maybe the joke is on me. The majority of the floors are hung with satirical images, drawings and other pieces of art. There's a child-restricted area, but I'm not quite sure why. There are nude artworks, but nothing pornographic or alarming for children. The best piece for me inside was the mirrored Fabergé-type egg with a tap. The story goes that the tap allows the cook to remove only as much of the egg that is required for a recipe and is able to safe the rest, drop by drop. There's also a labyrinth of mirrors which was short, but a strange experience. I don't recommend entering if you are hung-over or drunk! I was happy to visit the museum, but maybe the style of humour was not for me.

I really enjoyed the afternoon I spent here with my friend. The women at the front desk were helpful in checking us in and explaining the directions to us. There are four floors filled with historic and humorous arts that are well described in both English and Bulgarian. I went on an exhibition day, so there were many work of arts to see and laugh at. The labyrinth in the mirror room was my favorite, with children playing around and making it lively and colourful. The main Gabrovo bus station is just a few minutes away from the museum. So if you’ve arrived in Gabrovo by bus, you can make this your first stop before heading down to the city centre. I definitely recommend to visit once.

Interesting and quirky museum. Some fascinating exhibitions on, including "Satire and Propaganda" which features art from many different countries (from the Soviet side of the Iron Curtain). You can also learn about Gabrovo and why it's the butt of many jokes, and also a little about a famous character from Bulgarian folklore - 'Crafty Peter'. My 7 year old loved the children's room too which has a quite a few hands on activities for youngsters. Guides here were also excellent and explained things clearly and in-detail in English. This place is an undiscovered gem!

A great day our with lots of fun. I think this is one of a kind museum in Bulgaria. The home of humor and the satire. A lot of different expositions stating with the famous Gabrovo humor and continuing on with weird and unexpected things. Gabrovo people are famous for their thrift and the way to economise from everything in their daily lives. The museum mocks that and takes it to another level .

JUL2025: a random discovery which turned out to be magnificent. This open air folklore museum should be a MUST VISIT for anyone visiting Bulgaria. A travel in history through Bulgarian craft and folk culture. Very well designed and taken care of. Inspiring and located in a refreshing lush valley alongside a pleasant stream. Loved the architecture, the stalls and also the genuine shopping. 6 stars if there was such option.

The whole complex is carefully thought out and logically exposed. You can really feel the spirit of old times. The new gallery was a nice surprise as well. The exhibition that was there when I visited the place was beautiful

Really cool place. It represents the Bulgarian habits in the past and all typical professions at that time. Lots of shops that sell handmade goods and foods. Also you can watch the process of creating those things. There was a really nice tavern with good food.

Attended the 19th International Fair of Traditional Crafts hosted by the Ethnographic open air Etar Museum. The ethno village is a beautiful place that preserves Bulgaria's cultural heritage. Strongly recommend visiting it!

Etar is open-air museum near city of Gabrovo in northern Bulgaria. There are numerous acting workshops dating back centuries. It's very interesting to see wood carving, pottery, needle work, coppersmith crafts, cutlery etc right in front of your own eyes. Amazing experience!!!

A fascinating place to spend a few hours. The view from this place is fascinating. Although it was abandoned, this place looks nice. For those who want to explore it inside - there is 24/7 security checking no one is trying to enter. Note that it is windy there because of altitude.

Probably one of the most controversial buildings in Bulgaria, the Buzludzha Monument is located near the city of Kazanlak and on the Hadzi Dimitar peak. Because of its communistic origin, the Monument suffers from variety of problems, such as ownership issues, lack of preservation strategy, no vision for its future. While the construction attracts hundreds of tourists every year, and even though it is considered an architecture masterpiece, the Monument is in ruins and decomposes slowly. Be mindful of the strong wind at the peak. It could get chilly even in the summer. If you visit, you can also check out the Shipka Monument nearby, as well as the incredible church in Shipka village.

We visited the Monument during a dull and cold day, the weather was grim and the wind was cold, though we had to walk upward towards the place after our bus was stopped for the car park was closed(occupied) by media production firm. Actually, it was only the saving grace part as we enjoyed watching actors in live recording scene while they were doing the feigned fight, otherwise it would be a disappointment.

Not much to be excited up there after a long curvy drive up the mountains which seems to have taken forever we finally got there only to find an old delerect massive building which once was!!! No toilets around no coffee coffee no tourist center to guide and give information but just that! Having said that the views from up there and around were so amazing no wonder it had being picked for such once was an amazing building. Its away from everything else and l cant seeit being turned into anything exciting for many years to come.......what a waste of resources!!!

One if not the best monument I’ve seen. The building itself is huge, way bigger than I expected, and it’s beautiful. The views and landscape around arr stunning too, I suggest you go there and the roam for a bit in the nearby forests. I just hope the bulgarian government would protect the building before it collapses

The ruins of an old communist monument. Very large and impressive and the view from the top of the mountain is incredible. The road is quite curvy but it was worth it.

One of the most iconic Communist Monuments in the world! If you are interested in Communist architecture, urban exploration then this is a must do. The place is stunning as are the views. Entry inside the structure is not currently permitted and there is no easy way to get in but don't let this put you off. As for getting there it is quite difficult without a car. There is NO car hire in the local town of Kazanalak and no public transport to the Monument. I would recommend either car hire from Sofia and catching the many Communist Monuments and statues on the way. Or an organised trip which sadly only seem to go from Sofia. You can get a taxi from Kazanalak but this will be quite expensive. Either way go; you won't be disappointed, obviously a sunny clear day helps!

For me this was the best attraction in the region as it is so iconic. Difficult to get to without your own car but I do believe organised trips are available. We went in October And the weather can be bad so check beforehand. There are a number of steps to negotiate so not really good wheelchair access or anyone unstable on their feet.

Visited the Buzludzha Monument—an abandoned but massive structure with a unique and powerful presence. Although you can't enter the building, just seeing it up close is worth the trip. It has a haunting beauty and feels like stepping into a piece of forgotten history. The views from up there are absolutely stunning and make the experience even better. Definitely worth visiting if you're into history, photography, or just want to see something truly different.

This museum is very well set out and shows you the history and the process of the rose oil, with old instruments, documents, bottles for storage or for the sale of the oil, different types of roses, photos, to even the stand used to exhibit in Paris and internationally. It explains how the industry started, where it came from, its growth and what it is today. What I enjoyed the most was the video about the ‘Festival of Rose’ held yearly, that was fantastic. Makes me want to visit again just for the festival, and I will!

The Museum of the Rose in Kazanlak is a delightful attraction that beautifully celebrates the region's unique connection to roses. The only museum in the world, dedicated to the oil-yielding plant – rose, is situated in the town of Kazanlak. The Rose Museum is housed in the old building of the Rose Institute. The rose is one of the symbols of Bulgaria. The museum is a part of the Historical Museum “Iskra” in Kazanlak. In 1967, a small exposition was created, which was dedicated to rose-picking in Kazanlak and the region. In 1969. the exposition grew into an independent museum. Nowadays. the Rose Museum stores more than 15 000 exponents related to the rose-picking and rose-production in Bulgaria.

Not very big, but interesting. 6 leva entrance. There is a shop of rose cosmetics in the lobby. Circular museum, cannot miss anything. Avoid crowds and groups on Rose Festival, go late in the afternoon. Too bad there is no seperate group entrance or scheduled ones on such days.

Not really something to see there and not well maintained. Also no English explanations. But a nice view over the city and mountains in the background makes the visit it worth.

A must do when in the city. Stunning monument depicting the Bulgarian and Russian uprising again the Turks. This is taken from a view of history at the time. Great views across the city, definitely worth the trip. Top tip! If you are planning on walking from the city centre go in a straight line, not the way a map would suggest. There are multiple railway crossing points in a straight line walk!

Impressive monument, worth the detour. Its significance may be complicated now given Bulgaria’s transition from socialism, but you can still appreciate this monument as a historical site celebrating Bulgarian volunteer forces. Difficult to imagine the scale of this monument until you see it for yourself Note: Google Maps brought us to the back of the monument which involves a steep dirt path up. Best to go from the front, where there are steps leading up to the monument

This is a great spot to see the city from. Also, a nice exercise to climb the stairs up to the monument. :)

Not bad for a short walk, especially if you visit for first time this town.

A great museum with plenty of exhibits. There are descriptions in English and enough to read to get the jist of it. Set over three floors with the basement housing a roman road and pavement. Very low entry price and enough to do and see for a couple of hours.

Ice building. A few very interesting and worthier pieces. A lot of mistakes in the titles and the objects. Does not match. So if you don’t know history you will be lost. More about ancient and Rome period. No entry possible with ISIC or ITIC cards. So we are still disconnected from the world. At the end it is a must visit. But could be better.

I highly recommend the guided tour! The museum is fascinating alone. I purchased the English language tour and learned so much from the expert tour guide. Do not miss the chance to go back in time and learn more of what shaped our world.

Beautifully made and there are a lot of artifacts from which you can learn about our and ancient history. In most museum you pay the same tax, but you have much less items to observe. For example, in Stara Zagora museum there were 4 floors full of history, meanwhile most of the museums offer maximum of 2. I strongly recommend visiting this museum!

Its smaller but nice. There's discount for parents with kids, the real Roman street and some games for kids.

Lovely! there is no entry fee and no explanations are given. There is only one good article (the wiki one in Bulgarian) found about this place. Nonetheless it's definitely worth talking a look. You can admire the communist buildings in the background, makes for quite an arc over history. Not clear what is preserved from Roman times and what is reconstructed

Great free place to walk around. Roman ruins in the city centre.

Beautiful roman ruins, you can walk through the forum and there is no entrance fee. Problem is just that they erected everything and didn't make clear where the originals stop and the reconstruction begins. Also there is almost no information, you just walk among the place and have to guess what it is that you are walking on, if you aren't an archaeologist or historian. Good place to visit, but go to the Stara Zagora Museum first to get informed ;-)

If you're passing by Stara Zagora, check this place out. It's not too much left, but it's nice to see. There is no entrance fee.

I was shocked to see that this winery glorifies animal abuse with a fake bear like this right after entering the estate. Bulgaria has an absolute horrific history of “dancing bears” that “were trained with brutal methods such as hot metal plates and painful metal rings through the bears’ highly sensitive noses and jaws” (FOUR PAWS). Ignorant onlookers walk by and think it’s funny to take pictures with this fake bear in chains, and a wine estate should know better than to encourage such behaviour.

I had an amazing time attending my cousin's wedding at this lovely winery estate nestled in the picturesque Bulgarian countryside. The vineyards and charming architecture made it an unforgettable experience. It has definitely become my favorite place in 🇧🇬 Bulgaria.

I was at a wedding dinner and party last November. The hot air system failed at 21:00 and we spent the rest of the evening at 10 degrees Celsius. Sloppy organization for the price.

Did the wine experience in Midalidare. They take you through the brewing process and the facilities. In the end we tried 8 different wines (4 whites and 4 reds) and had a cheese and bites platter. The quality of wine is really good and it’s cheap.

Extremely disappointing experience at Midalidare Estate. The location is undeniably beautiful, but the service and amenities were shockingly poor. Our accommodation had no drinking water, no coffee despite a coffee machine, and not even garbage bags. Considering the high nightly rates and the absence of shops nearby, the least they could have done was warn us to bring our own supplies — instead, we had to make an unnecessary trip to Stara Zagora right after checking in. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a disaster — food arrived after a 2-hour wait, orders were mixed up or forgotten, and the staff behaved as if serving us was a burden. We were there for a family wedding, yet the staff was disorganized and unhelpful, even refusing to assist a guest looking for a restroom for her child. The outdoor celebration was almost unbearable because the area hadn’t been treated for mosquitoes. No warning, no repellent provided, and when we asked, we were told they’d run out during a previous event. To top it off, despite being told checkout was at noon, we were woken to leave at 11 a.m. because the next guests had arrived. For the prices they charge — and with their claimed experience hosting events — the complete lack of care for guest comfort is unacceptable. We expected at least a basic level of courtesy towards the bride and groom, but instead got sour faces and indifference. I am sorry to say this, but I would never return to this place again.

We went to visit the winery without knowing there was a tour. For 8 lev per person, you do a tour and a 8 wine tasting. We had the whole tour in English with a nice girl, that unfortunately we forgot the name. We definitely recommend!! Oh! And buy some truffled cheese!! Only bought one and regret!!

Please don't get me wrong! The place feels and smells amazingly nostalgic, and genuine. However, somehow I didn't feel the spirit of one of the greatest (if not the greatest) Bulgarians ever lived! The museum with its exposures is the best thing to see there. Only there you could "touch" the spirit of this remarkable person. I've recently been visiting the Geo Milev house museum in Stara Zagora. Man, that was an experience! You could literally touch some of his (or his family) belongings. You could watch a short movie that is running constantly on a screen. I'm sorry if I lack knowledge of Levski, but I thought that more of what he left was preserved for the historians.

A place where you feel proud Bulgarian. The emblem of the Bulgarian Revolution! The house is well maintained. Easy to visit. The staff is very competent and knowledgeable! The exhibit hall is very inspiring and there is a lock of Levski's hair in the church. The thing that made me really impressed was that there was a braille alphabet at the entrance for blind people!

This is a very impressive mountain lift that goes up 1000 meters and the journey from the first station to the second station which is located about 1500 meters above sea level takes over 20 minutes. In the future two more higher stations are planned and then it will probably be one of the longest in Europe, if not the longest. The view from the top is wonderful and a starting point for several routes. The ticket price is cheap and the attitude is kind and friendly. The problem is that the elevator is only activated when there is a group of more than 10 people so it is difficult to predict how long you will have to wait. At 9:00 in the morning at the opening there is usually a group and then you have to ask and find out that you won't get stuck returning. Of course, there is also a descent path of about an hour.

What a lovely experience! This will definitely become one of our regular destinations. When we visited the weather was fenomenal and we could enjoy the full experience. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are recently modernised and renovated. The safety measures are in place. There is convenient parking and outdoor cafe area. This place is used by many enthisiasts who like to camp, do mountaineering. Once you reach the top you can enjoy breathing views. Truly magical place.

Good, but it's a little bit old. Very bumpy and it stops from time to time. The second lift to the top it's not working. Hopefully they will fix and refurbish it, because it's beautiful out there.

The ride itself was very pleasant. However, the staff was not helpful at all. I have mobility issues and when i asked the staff if the lift can be stopped so that i can sit and stand up from the seat (not to do that movement while the lift is moving), I was made fun of. After the ride, I tried the Gelato ice cream. It was very delicious.

Parking is hard to find on weekends or events especially .the cable car is pricey. Pizza and ice cream best in town. Swimming pool was closed .only open in summer as the water is not heated.great to spend a day with or without children.

I really liked this place for the calm atmosphere. In a sunny weather is perfect for chilling. There is also tasty and natural ice cream offered and a good coffee. This place is know as a meeting point for paraplanners.

A very interesting place to visit. The lady working there was very sweet and helpful when I visited. Even though I didn't speak much Bulgarian, she really tried her best to show me things and explain what everything was. It showcases Ivan Vazovs life as well as what a traditional Bulgarian house would have been like. There's also a combined ticket for all the museum attractions in Sopot which was very cheap especially for students.

Small but very cute and beautiful museum right in the center of Sopot. You can see all the rooms from the house on display (no entering) and a separate display room with works from the author.

It’s impressive how much this place has been maintained in a good way. I remember it as a ugly one, but this year it made a good impression. Take your kinds there and tell them stories about old times and made them think about how it all changes in comparison with nowadays.

Over the years, it has established itself as a key center for preserving the literary traces left by Ivan Vazov in our national culture. There are four objects in the structure of the Museum: Ivan Vazov House Museum, Girls' School, Ethnographic Center "Sopotski", Dyado-Stoyanova Vodenitsa. The museum maintains attractive educational programs, develops scientific projects, enriches and develops its expositions and is actively present in the public space

We were a group of 3 visited in the winery for a tour and tastings. We just loved the tastings (they have such great wines!) and the tour so much, the view is beautiful which adds a lot of points to the whole tasting experience. And also, the guide was fabulous and kind. Definitely recommended.

We had an amazing experience at the winery! Not only the wines were great, but the staff were extremely kind and nice people who would spend time to take you to the process of making wine, share the love for the wine and have a friendly chat about anything really. The views are astonishing as well.

What a great tasting we had a this winery! Take it from a wine nerd: I can assure you that the Mavrud reds are totally amazing. Our tasting host Grozdena, who is also part of the winemaking team, is simply the best. She takes time, she explains the vineyards and the winemaking process and she is a very nice host. Also, she speaks french, which is nice. Un grand merci à toi Grozdena, je te souhaite bien du succès!

We had a wonderful wine tasting experience at the Zagreus Winery. The tour and tasting was very interesting, held in perfect English (or French) by Grozdena, with a special focus on Bulgarian organic wine from ancient grape varieties. We definitely recommend it and will come back again!

Best winery experience ever!! Decided to come off the motorway en route to Plovdiv because of the good reviews. Lady who showed us around went above and beyond for us - think she was called грозде - not sure about spelling sorry!! Amazing set up, amazing views, wine tasted great especially the vinica mavrud. Would recommend calling up in advance. 10/10

Sweet spot right by the road. Do stop and take photos if you are passing by. You can also buy the water purifying rock called zeolit there in small packets. When added to drinking water it greatly improves the drinking quality. I love it.

Very interesting rock formations - (in the shape of mushrooms!) caused by years of erosion, well worth a visit if you are in the area. There was no one else there, it's free to see.

It's 2 rocks about 7 feet high that have a mushroom shape to them and they're surrounded by other big rocks that don't resemble mushrooms! No charge to enter, just walk up from the road. There's 2 stalls selling semi precious stones (synthetic)? and other touristy stuff.

If you have time and passing near-by, it is small but an interesting place to see.

Interesting open air museum, worth seeing. Especially cool that you can go into the cockpit of a helicopter for an additional fee of 4 Leva. There is a real landing capsule of a space rocket Inside the museum building. However, the lady working there chased my husband away because he sat on one of the two chars inside. She stated that these two seats are reserved only for people who are signing their book, those with kids, or tired elderly. Altough there was no one else there to use them, she asked him to get up.

Fantastic museum with everything translated into English

This was such a brilliant place to visit! We were really impressed by the number and range of planes on display. 12lv for a family ticket was very reasonable considering the quality of the exhibits. It's just outside Plovdiv airport - an easy trip from the centre.

Took two three year old boys who were very happy to see planes up close. It's an outdoor museum mostly with lots of previous Bulgarian airforce inventory - soviet equipment. Interesting place to visit for anyone wanting to see Warsaw pact era planes and helicopters, but also there's a small inside museum which contains a capsule from soviet space missions (which had Bulgarian participation), and some displays of the early air force (one of the first, if not the first in the world, to drop bombs during a war). Also, at the end, a military serviceman gave us a balloon over the fence, so that was nice. Good place to spend an hour and a half.

Small but very cool castle from the time of Assen II with a commanding view of the gorge and the valley. Doesn't take long to explore, but worth a visit if you haven't seen it and are into medieval castles 🙂

Beautiful small monastery. Excellent traditional eateries around it. It was a hot day in Plovdiv, but pleasant at the higher elevation at the site. 4 BGN to park right outside the walls and avoid the uphill walk from lower lots. It is probably hard to do this on busy days.

Hi there! We visited this wonderful monastery and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the “Vecernia”(around 6 p.m). Located ~ two hours away from Sofia, it is attracting many pilgrims and it’s worth visiting also for its unique architecture and painting - typical of Eastern Orthodox culture. Bachkovo Monastery has at least two other church buildings in addition to its main one, its own museum and later on we discovered that it preserves a significant ossuary which can be reached in a few hundred meters away from it… So, are you ready to visit one of the oldest monasteries on the Balkan Peninsula, still active (with monks) and the 2nd largest in Bulgaria? :)✌🏻

Beautiful location, would have been 5 stars but the museum and some of the other rooms were still closed at 9:45am and no one was sure what time they were meant to open so didn't get to see everything I'd hoped. Well worth the journey anyway though.

A sanctuary of peacefulness. Some fantastic frescoes. We ate at one of the eateries on the street leading to the monastery which was below average. They all do the same thing and all look the same quality. Recommend eating elsewhere. But the monastery is great.

A nice monastery and the nature around and the fact that in the monastery there are the graves of two people that had a major role in preventing the deportation of Bulgarian Jews during WW2

Amazingly beautiful monastery! Definitely worth visiting or staying for a night. It’s one of the largest in Bulgaria. It’s restored and has a great audio guide. Highly recommend.
