Ancient Ruins
Trujillo Alcazaba, also known as Trujillo Castle, is a medieval Moorish stone fortress with 8 towers and a horseshoe arch. Situated at the top of a granite hill in the city, it was built between the 9th and 12th centuries over an Arab citadel. The castle offers panoramic views of dusty plains dotted with smaller castle ruins and ancient walls. It has gained popularity as one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones.
Trujillo is an amazing place to visit. You are surrounded by history . You actually feel.like you are in a movie set in some historical movie . The atmosphere is something else . Trujillo has great restaurants , cafes and bars. . Everyone is very helpful and great fun the Spanish have a wonderful way of always being fun loving and engaging If you need help they are more than happy to help . Trujillo is full of history the Plaza Mayor is stunning you need to give yourself time as I'm the summer it gets VERY hot so my advice is do what the Spanish go out when they do before it gets too hot,to eat at the time they eat their main meal from 2 o'clock rest after a long lunch and go out in the evening to walk around at a leisurely phase no rushing about Trujillo is to enjoy and observe .

Very well maintained old castle. Not a lot to see inside the castle itself, but you do get to walk along the ramparts and a little in the sewers below. Not bad for 2€. This is the castle from Game of Thrones Season 7 used for Castelry Rock.
Kevin G — Google review
Entrance fee is €2. 30-40 minutes you need to see and to walk inside. Astonishing view from the top to the city. Arabic water storage, small chapel, many towers and stairs.
Nadia R — Google review
A really good experience. Not crowded and gorgeous views.
Brian S — Google review
Well worth the visit. Best to walk up to it from the Plaza Major in the early morning to arrive for its opening. the views are spectacular as is the place itself. The 'old town' of Trujillo, its walls and old streets takes your mind back to the time it was built and you are in awe.
Richard B — Google review
Fantastic stay in Trujillo , the architecture is truly amazing topping with a fantastic Castle.
Dave F — Google review
The Alcazaba de Trujillo is perched up on a hill. This fortified military camp was built in the 13th century mainly for defensive purposes, which is why there are no residential rooms. From what I could see from the outside is somewhat preserved. While it is on the outskirts of the old town, I do recommend going there. Unfortunately the day I went, I waited for an hour for it to open after the lunch break and it never did.
Nanita — Google review
This should be the peak of my trip to Trujillo and I kept it for last. Unfortunately, the opening times are once more wrong online. The local ourist management is sloppy enough to ruin a visit to this town. Certainly not worthy of a town that expires world Heritage status.

Temple of Diana

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Temple of Diana is an ancient Roman temple in Merida, featuring columns on a raised pedestal and remnants of a medieval castle. The city offers quiet streets, inviting squares, and green spaces along the Guadiana river for leisurely walks. Visitors can explore landmarks like the Arab Citadel and indulge in local gastronomy. Nearby attractions include Roman baths in Alange, the Prosperpina reservoir, and other well-preserved Roman-era buildings such as the Arch of Trajan and the Roman Bridge.
Mérida has the most incredible Roman remains. You do, however, feel like the city doesn’t quite realise what treasures it has and there is an enormous amount of unsympathetic, brutal architecture right up against and in some cases over these wonderful buildings. I hope the city planners can improve how they present their city in a ‘world class’ way.
Lisa M — Google review
Very cool temple, it was the first place I visited where I actually felt like I was really standing in history and not just in a basement of ruins looking at house outlines. Definitely check this place out. You can buy a pass to see all the attractions in Merida for 17 euro and walk around town visiting the coliseum, race track, Roman crypts, the temple of Diana, barracks, etc.
Phillip T — Google review
It is one of the most impressive architectural examples on the Iberian Peninsula. Renowned for being the best-preserved temple in the region. The Temple, rectangular in shape, stands on a high podium of granite. Lots of walking to get here, and climbing stairs to the second level or level below. Popular place, lots of tourists and locals. Entry fees charged, long queues, book ahead. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen

Day or night, sun or rain... it's just beautiful. Within 5min walk from Paula Films Hotel. And there is a next door gourmet burger joint with a view (next time).

The Temple of Diana in Mérida is a stunning example of Roman architecture. Interestingly, it was not dedicated to the goddess Diana but rather to the worship of the emperor and his family, in line with the imperial cult of ancient Rome. In the 15th century, a nobleman decided to construct his palace directly atop the temple, significantly altering its original structure. Later, in the 20th century, a U-shaped concrete building was inexplicably constructed around the temple—a decision that remains puzzling to this day. Despite these modifications, the temple remains a fascinating site. It showcases layers of history, where you can see how the Muslims built upon structures left by the Visigoths, who, in turn, had built on the original Roman foundations. The interplay of these civilizations makes the temple an extraordinary testament to the rich and complex heritage of Mérida.
Varto B — Google review
It’s in the center of the town, and really cool when you look and think about how long it’s been there
Amar M — Google review
Very cool area and a nice walk from the local hotels. The way the city has been built up over time around Roman architecture is amazing. The area around the ruins gets very busy with your groups after about 10am so if you are trying to get a peaceful viewing experience go early.

The National Museum of Roman Art in Merida is a stunning blend of ancient history and modern design. The museum, designed by Rafael Moneo Valles, showcases a vast collection of Roman artifacts dating from the 1st century BC to the 6th century AD. These treasures were excavated from the nearby archaeological site of Emerita Augusta, reflecting the historic nature of the city.
Fantastic museum, one of the most expensive collections of Roman artifacts. Outstanding!!! Gorgeous building and massive open spaces for very large pieces.
Jay P — Google review
Magnificent museum. Even only the building is already worth it. There’s a lot to see and learn and wonder about. The entrance fee is 3€, except for Saturday afternoon and Sundays (free then). The only things that could be better; the amount of English explanation (not everything was translated, and some of it was translated poorly) and the restorations sometimes are very unclear. What is old and what has been restored? Absolutely worth a visit!
Tanja S — Google review
We did not know that this beautiful museum has so many cool artifacts and mosaiques and statues and roman coins and amphoras and some weapons. I really enjoyed the Roman coins and mosaiques the most. Some of them are sooooo huge and fantastic. They have 3 niveaus where you can walk for hours and that you will get overwhelmed by everything you see. 10 stars.
S B — Google review
It is a MUST. And it is FREE. Don't miss it - beautiful building, unvaluable learning. Beautifully preserved. Recommend visiting it before exploring the city - it all will make (more) sense.

The Teatro Romano de Mérida is a historic site that holds the remains of a Roman arena and waiting rooms where gladiator and animal fights took place. Built in 16 BC by the consul Vipsanius Agrippa, it has undergone several renovations over the centuries, including during the reign of Emperor Trajan and Constantine. With its sloped semicircular seating, it could accommodate up to 6,000 spectators.
The Teatro Romano de Mérida is truly an incredible place to visit. It’s amazing to see how well preserved it is, considering it was built more than 2,000 years ago. Walking through the theater, you can really imagine what life was like during Roman times. The architecture is stunning, and the details in the stonework are impressive. The site is very well organized, with clear paths and plenty of information to help you understand the history. It’s a peaceful and beautiful place to explore, and it feels like stepping back in time. If you visit Mérida, this is definitely a must-see. I highly recommend taking your time to walk around and really appreciate everything. Truly a fascinating experience!

This a well preserved historic theatre built by Ancient Rome. During the 1st century AD, the current stage front was erected. The theatre was abandoned in the 4th century AD after the official adoption of Christianity, which considered theatrical performances immoral. Site archaeological excavations started in 1910 onwards. Interesting place to visit. Entry fees charged, long queues, book ahead. Uneven terrain, lots of walking, climbing crude stairs. Popular place, lots of tourists and locals. Toilets nearby. Great place for photography.

Very recommended. It was built 16-15 year b.C by consul Marco Agripa. It was to around 6000 people. It’s like Roma in small scale but better because it is in a very good state. There is a ticket without guide to visit the full monumental complex: Roman Theatre, Circus, Moreria Arqueological Area, Mithraeum House, Columbarium, Alcazaba, Anfiteatre and House, Diana Temple. All of this for only 17€ per person (normal fee).

Why go to Rome! We purchased our €17 day pass, giving you entry into all of the sites, which is great value. You are given a map detailing the locations of the other sites. Here, you will be transported back, walking through the amphitheatres and tunnels. We are here in the non peak period, and it's fabulous! It's hot, though, so make sure you have a hat and water. You will need it. Put this site on your list of things to do.
Paula D — Google review
If you passed the first beautiful amfitheater you wil see the other one which is more beautiful with incredibly high pillars and colums. You will be blown away what you see. The long walk is all worth it, also if you are not very capable to walk. Advice: combination ticket for 17 euro.

A hidden jewel of Roman architecture within rural Spain, relatively recently unearthed, rather small, when compared to the one in Mérida, and not in the best condition, still used as an actual theatre. The church and museum within the theatre complex deserve especial mention, on account of the aesthetic pleasure it means, plus the valuable learning experience, about this amazing place's history, as a theatre due Ng the Roman empire, and a medieval neighbourhood later on. Easy parking near it.

The museum is part of the cultural exquisiteness of Aracena, a charming town in Andalucia known for its rich cuisine and natural surroundings, including the spectacular Gruta de las Maravillas caves.
Natalia, the guide, was excellent. She is so witty and humorous that she made the tour so enjoyable, and what she shared is so valuable to me as a consumer of iberico meat. I'm so much more knowledgeable and many thanks to Natalia

I love pigs me ! A information packed museum, all in Spanish but you can download an English guide to your mobile. Ticket included in the Caves and Castle package
Gav D — Google review
This is a restaurant. Great service, very delicious Spanish food and tapas, slim wine selection but good jamon selection (beef part, % fat, etc). Moderately priced. Service is pretty fast. they probably get busy during High season.
T-Rex — Google review
This museum is way better than I expected. It's small but packs in a lot of information about both the history of Iberian ham production and its current state. Most of the exhibits are described only in Spanish but you can use the English audio guide and Google Translate on your smartphone is very helpful.
Richard L — Google review
Well laid out. Not too overwhelming. A lot of information about pigs rather than ham. The section about the slaughtering process is not suitable for small children or vegetarians.
Sue B — Google review
Unattractive with not much items to see. Its better to visit one of the farms with ham production in the villages around... There is an interesting sculpture of pig shepard in front...

Comments like: you can't take photos, touch anything, take nothing with you, it happens much too quickly, what nonsense, it is explained in the simplest terms why this is so and is understandable for every clear-thinking person. The negative comments can only have come from egomaniacal minds!! And it's worth visiting the grotto more often - we always discover something new and inspiring, be it simply the climate. We are very grateful to be able to visit this extraordinary place, because one thing is clear: the entrance fees hardly cover the entertainment. respect (Original) Wow, schlägt die Grotte von Nerja um Längen, sehr liebevoll und mit Hirn illuminiert. (Translated by Google) The Gruta de las Maravillas is, without a doubt, one of Spain's most impressive underground treasures. It doesn't stand out for its size, but it does for the incredible variety of geological formations it houses: stalactites, stalagmites, underground lakes... it has it all! Each room seems like something out of a fairy tale. It's an experience that must be experienced in person, because no photo could capture the beauty hidden underground. And that's part of the dilemma: they don't allow photos or videos during the visit, which can disappoint those who want to share the experience. Upon entering, they take your photo in front of a chroma key that they then try to sell for €10, which feels somewhat forced. Even so, the visit is totally worth it. It's a must-see in Huelva, and a natural gem that will leave you speechless. Ideal for lovers of geology, nature, and unique places. (Translated by Google) I went to fieldworkriotinto with the intention of taking a guided tour of Minas de Riotinto in private and with a series of peculiarities that needed someone with a deep knowledge of the place and a good predisposition. It was Juanma, manager, who took care of my request, and I can affirm that it was not only requested but that it fulfilled and exceeded, in an extraordinary way, all my expectations. He had a lot of patience, considering the numerous previous virtual correspondence that I exchanged with him. I will be clear: I belong to the sector, and I know how insistent we can be as clients, as if we were the only request that a company has to attend to. Juanma was not only patient with me, but insisted that I not worry about all my doubts, since his maxim was that the visit was to our total satisfaction. To make matters worse, he advised me on issues such as accommodation, restaurants or transfers when, let's be clear, I did not have to do it and also did not earn anything from it. As it was in private, he picked us up in his car and provided us with a visit to Minas de Riotinto as complete as possible: the source of the river, a visit to mines and mining operations, the mining town, the British legacy, he accompanied us to the train. , to the restaurant, ... we were always accompanied by an expert who controlled the time perfectly and gave us a vision with which he provided not only scientific and historical value, but also the entire socio-cultural context: he explained to us how the town transformed mining exploitation, the relationships that were established between British society and the original inhabitants, how that time is remembered today ... in short, he was able to give us a rigorous, multi-colored vision of Minas de Riotinto, full of details and, even so, extremely enjoyable. I have the habit of taking guided tours when I travel; I think it is necessary that, even after you explore the place on your own, you have a first contact led by an expert. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was the best visit I have enjoyed so far: we had a great experience at the hands of a person who continually transmitted love for his town and his work. Thank you very much for everything.

Setas de Sevilla, also known as Las Setas, is a striking and modern architectural installation in Seville. Designed by German architect Jurgen Mayer, it is recognized as the world's largest wooden structure. The mushroom-shaped parasol offers visitors the opportunity to explore an archaeological museum and take in panoramic views of the city from its rooftop walkway and viewpoint.
Very impressed by the structure. Didn't take as long as I thought to walk around the structure. Nice surprise if the film if Seville. Enjoyed the free audio tour describing the different points on the walk. Couple of points to note 1. Entrance is at the south end going down. You'll see lifts going up, go to the side and the entrance to the walkway is down wards. 2. Toilets are in the market area. We went at 10am and it was still being set up. The walkway was quiet, but not much going on beneath 3. Stay and watch the 180 degree video on Seville at the end. It was a good show. 4. My family went in the morning. Come back at night to see the night light show.

We bought our tickets in advance for 22:00 but luckily we were able to change the time of the ticket to see the sunset from here. It was absolutely stunning and nice to have a view from above. Unfortunately we had to leave for another appointment before seeing the light show at night. But if you have time linger around. This was great!

One of the best parts of my 3 months in Europe traveling!! A beautiful structure you could spend hours looking over the city at. I went at 6:45 after booking an online reservation about 2 days prior due to still being lots of tourists in the area. It was the perfect time! I beat somewhat of the sunset rush, so I could explore the structure and see it during the daytime. Then returned to the main viewpoint to watch the sunset and the lights turn on. It does get extremely busy around sunset, with very little space at the top miradouro. A rooftop bar in the surrounding area would have just as good views with less crowds BUT staying up after sunset allows you to see the lights turn on from the top which is SOO cool. The little film they show at the end is interesting and the theater is well kept with comfortable seating. Well worth the €16 I spent for full admission!

I enjoyed the Setas. It's a large structure made to resemble mushrooms. There is a deck above the ground level which anybody can access. The view is nice. You can also pay yo go up on an elevator to the top for a view of the city. There is an indoor market in the ground floor area that has all sorts of vendors. They have various good seafood vendors. There are coffee shops and tapas bars. It's a neat place to hang out got a while and just browse. If your in Seville for a couple days it's well worth checking out.
Hayes W — Google review
Love the look of the design and was pleasantly surprised at how well the structure fitted into the surroundings. If you wish to see the sunset, buy tickets at least 2 days in advance. We didn't buy tickets to see the sunset because we bought them 24 hours before, and the first available tickets were at 20:00. This is a good time to see the light show. The light show is with music, and it is a little crowded, but everyone gets a chance to take photos and videos if they wait for a few minutes. You can watch a short movie included in the ticket, and I suggest watching it. You can spend as much time there as you want. It's a must-visit when in Seville.
Monika — Google review
Standing beneath this structure and looking up is truly awe inspiring. In the evening, colored lights are shifting and moving around inside the structure which makes it even more magical. Underneath this statue at the ground level is a market for meat, fish and a couple tapas bars that are also quite good. The market is only open in the morning and early afternoon. At one end of the statue is a large staircase where there is often live music played by street musicians. Down below the market are some Roman ruins.
Phil B — Google review
Personally I felt this was a huge let down. It is amazing from the ground but you could see certain blocks that weren’t lighting up, but we had to see what the hype was about, so we paid the $16 euros each and went to the top. The idea is a good one with light mood music being played and the lights moving and lighting in unison to the music. The downside to this is the street performers directly below you playing AC/DC, Guns N Roses, and, I kid you not, N-Sync. These performers drown out any music related to the lights. Next for the lights. They need to do some maintenance, because a large percentage of the lights aren’t working, you can see this in the pics and videos. Basically they built something that is cool in concept but they haven’t maintained it. The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of two is for the immersive movie at the end, very cool and a must see. Pretty much all I found this good for was to go up to have a 360* view of the skyline and sights but it is DEFINITELY NOT worth $16 euros, maybe 8-10.
Stuart R — Google review
A nice, mostly wooden structure with a great viewpoint. At the top there’s a walkway and an information board showing which landmarks you’re looking at. In my opinion it’s nicer in the evening, because the landmarks are lit up and the structure itself has a light show. The entrance fee of €16 per person is a bit pricey, but I think it’s worth it.

La Giralda is a stunning Spanish Renaissance-style minaret with a Gothic and baroque bell tower. It's part of the diverse and beautiful monuments in Seville, including the Cathedral, Reales Alcazares, Torre del Oro, Plaza de Espana, Maria Luisa Park, and more. Seville offers an array of tourism options from historical tours to tapas and wine tours.
We did the 20.30 roof tour and it's absolutely fantastic. Did not except that we were able to see this much of one of the greatest and most beautiful monuments of Spain. Very kind and knowledged guide, good working head sets. Very fair price if you see what you get. Would recommend to everyone who can climb a few narrow stairs (you go up all the way).

Legendary building in Sevilla This is a beautiful tower in Andalusia. Part of the BIG 3 you have to do, with the Mezquita, the Giralda and obviously l'Alhambra. The Giralda is a beautiful tower sitting right in the town centre or the old town. It is a fabulous building and looks really grand. It can obviously be visited but you really need to book for this like most impressive sites in Spain. Highly recommended we really enjoyed it!
Paul V — Google review
We visited on a weekday afternoon and had to line up several times — first to get in, then again for audio guides, and finally to enter La Giralda. The tower is well laid out, with around 35 ramps and rest stops along the way for those who need them. Most people should be able to make the climb without too much trouble. However, it was extremely crowded. The path is narrow, so you go up and down in a single file, often shoulder to shoulder with others. Once at the top, you line up again just to get a view out of each window, and there are fences that make it hard to get a clear look. There didn’t seem to be any real crowd control at the top, which really took away from the experience. If you’re claustrophobic, I’d skip this part. There are plenty of other great spots in Seville to see panoramic views of the city. The cathedral itself was much more enjoyable — there were clear signs and pamphlets explaining the art and architecture. That said, unless you get the audio guide, there’s not much context provided about the tower itself.
Dani — Google review
La Giralda is a former Muslim minaret transformed into a church bell tower, symbolizing the fascinating transition from one culture to another. The construction itself is magnificent, a true masterpiece of architecture. Be prepared for a bit of a workout—the climb to the top can be challenging, but it’s absolutely worth it. The panoramic views of Seville from above are breathtaking. I highly recommend this unforgettable experience.
Murillo P — Google review
The area encompassing the open area next to the Seville Cathedral and surroundings. The history is amazing. There is a large sistern below the outdoor open area enclosed by the walls of the Giralda. This was essential for providing clean cool water to the town in antiquity. The Guadalquivir River was likely not the best place to get drinking water due to the number of upstream towns and villages likely dumping sewer into the river.
Hayes W — Google review
The tour is about 35 ramps with only steps at the end so easier to manage for old and young. Originally it was so guards on horseback could ride to the top. It was totally busy at 4 pm on a Monday in October. Tickets in advance are necessary unless it’s really off season. Shoulders must be covered and anyone showing up in a tank top could buy a wrap for 3€. They said legs should be covered to the knees but there were plenty of shorts that they didn’t make an issue of.
Jan B — Google review
Giralda is the tower of the Sevilla Cathedral. It has no steps, just a continuous ramp up to the top, which makes it very easy to climb. The space is wide for a bell tower. The views from the top are amazing. I bought the tickets online, so there was no waiting for us.
Andrei M — Google review
The interior of this cathedral was very ornate with beautiful gold sculptures. I bought a ticket for a smaller Church nearby which included a ticket to the cathedral. This allowed me to bypass the very long line to buy tickets at the cathedral. The other church was nice too.

Catedral de Sevilla is a grand Gothic cathedral in Spain, known for its iconic Moorish bell tower offering stunning city views and housing Columbus' tomb. The cathedral is part of the Barrio Santa Cruz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that also includes Real Alcazar and Archivo General de Indias. This historic neighborhood is filled with rich cultural landmarks like the Hospital de los Venerables Sacerdotes and flamenco tablaos.
Beautiful cathedral. Highly recommend getting tickets prior to visiting, especially in the summer when the line gets long and the summer heat can be a bit much while waiting. Climbing the Geralda is well worth it, beautiful views of the city and really cool to climb and see the construction of it. Seeing the tomb of Christopher Columbus is both interesting and cool. Seeing how he’s celebrated so much in the area is a unique experience.
Trenton M — Google review
The Cathedral of Seville is an architectural wonder that perfectly captures the layered history of the city. Built on the site of an old Almohad mosque, it still preserves traces of its Islamic past, especially in the Patio de los Naranjos, where orange trees line the courtyard once used for ablution before prayer. The blending of Gothic grandeur with remnants of Moorish design gives the cathedral a unique identity that reflects centuries of cultural transformation. Inside, the scale and beauty are breathtaking. The golden main altar is one of the most impressive in the world, covered in intricate carvings that seem to glow under the light. The Giralda Tower, originally a minaret, remains a stunning symbol of Islamic architectural genius, and climbing it rewards you with panoramic views over Seville. The tomb of Christopher Columbus adds a fascinating historical dimension, connecting Seville to the broader story of exploration and empire. This visit was smooth and enjoyable. I bought my ticket online, and it was very affordable. I even entered before my designated time slot without any issue. The atmosphere at the entrance was more relaxed compared to other major landmarks. My friend who lives in Seville was able to enter for free at any time without a designated time slot.

We visited the Cathedral of Virgin Mary, popularly known as the Cathedral de Sevilla as a part of a small group guided tour. The guide Martha was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail. The cathedral itself has much signs of Islamic influence when compared to its counterpart in Cordoba. But its a stunning structure nonetheless & covers a huge area. The golden altar, the magnificent choir, the tomb of Christopher Columbus, his son and the famed Bell Tower, Giralda were some of the highlights. I would highly recommend this attraction to visitors to this beautiful city.

Very lovely cathedral with lots to read about ! You do need to be modest to enter, no exposed shoulders or knees. They do give out blue shawls you can buy before entering so you are not denied entry. You can go to the top of the bell tower which is about 40 or more flights up, but it is a ramp not stairs. Very worth it though ! There’s pockets of balconies you can sit along the way up too. It is in the city in a lovely part of of town, so you can visit other places as well.

An absolutely magnificent cathedral — truly breathtaking in size, detail, and history. The interior is stunning, with beautiful altars, artwork, and impressive architecture throughout. Climbing the Giralda Tower is a must — the views over Seville are incredible and worth every step. Everything was well organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A masterpiece of Gothic design and one of the most memorable landmarks in Spain. Highly recommend visiting!

Seville Cathedral is breathtaking — its sheer size and intricate details leave you in awe. The views from La Giralda tower make the climb completely worth it. Tickets are reasonably priced, but it’s best to book online in advance to skip the long queues. The combo ticket with La Giralda tower access is definitely worth it for the full experience.

Seville Cathedral left me absolutely awestruck. It’s vast, luminous, and genuinely majestic—every corner feels steeped in history and craftsmanship. The soaring Gothic vaults make you lose your sense of scale, and the details—from the carved choir to the side chapels—are mesmerizing. Do not skip La Giralda. It’s a must to buy tickets that include the tower so you can see Seville from a true bird’s-eye view—the panorama is unforgettable and worth every step. Visitor flow is well organized, signage is clear, and even with crowds it feels calm inside. If you have time, grab the audio guide; it brings the art and architecture to life with great context. Bottom line: an absolute must-visit in Seville. Powerful, moving, and unforgettable. I highly recommend it.##HistoryShorts

The Royal Alcázar of Seville is a landmark Moorish royal palace featuring fountain-filled gardens, ornate arches, and 16th-century tiles. It is considered one of the finest examples of Mudejar architecture in Spain, showcasing a blend of Moorish and Renaissance styles. The palace complex has a rich history dating back to the 10th century when it was initially built as a Moorish fortress.
A seriously beautiful palace. Architecture is nothing short of amazing. The gardens are well keep, even in the heat. You can easily spend a few hours here. Enter at the lions gate. Lines moves quickly to get in. Buy timed ticket online. Water closet, cafe and gift shop inside.
Toni S — Google review
Make sure you book at least one to two weeks in advance — it fills up fast, and with good reason. The Alcázar is absolutely breathtaking. The detail in the architecture is something else — arches, tiles, carvings, gardens… it’s a living masterpiece. The Mudejar style (that blend of Islamic and Christian design) gives it such a layered, soulful feel. You can really feel the history here — not just see it. We decided to book the 8:30am VIP tour with GetYourGuide, and it was one of the best decisions of our trip. No queues, no chaos — we were inside before the heat and the crowds. Anna, our guide, was phenomenal. So passionate, informed, and completely in love with the place — her energy brought it all to life. Worth every single cent. Go early, go with a guide, and take it all in slowly.

The Royal Alcazar of Seville is a beautiful palace & garden in the centre of the historic old town centre of Seville. Architecture & art from the 11th century are on display - from the Andalusian era, Gothic from the time of Alfonso X, & Mudejar from the time of Pedro I. The carved plaster & stone wall friezes, colourful geometric wall tiles, & Mudejar painted & copper covered mahogany wooden ceilings are exquisite. The formal gardens are extensive & offer glimpses of water pools & fountains, amongst trees & sculptured hedges. Booking in advance is essential, & allow up to 3 hours for the visit. There is a really nice cafe in the garden, serving drinks, cakes, & light snacks, & this is reasonably priced. This is a world heritage site for good reason - this is truly a world class historic attraction. 10/10.

We spent an entire afternoon visiting this his historic royal palace. We enjoyed meandering through the rooms and admiring the art and architecture. The gardens outside were so beautiful and offered additional views of the exterior architecture. We walked, sat, and admired the beauty all around us.

Honestly, the place is pure magic. I’ve seen countless pictures, but nothing prepared me for how breathtaking it is in person. The sheer amount of detail in the architecture is incredible, and you can see so much history in the different styles. The gardens are a whole other level—they're huge and so beautiful, with hidden corners and fountains everywhere. It’s the perfect escape from the city heat. I could have happily spent the entire day just wandering through them. My biggest recommendation, especially if you're visiting in the summer, is to pre-book your tickets online. Seriously, don't even think about showing up to buy them on the day. The lines can be absolutely brutal, and you'll spend a ton of time waiting in the heat. Booking online gets you a specific time slot and lets you skip the main queue, so you can head straight to security and start exploring right away. It's the best way to make sure you get in and make the most of your visit without any stress.
Vibhore S — Google review
Amazing palace and gardens. Don't just go there during the day. The light show Naturaleza Encendida in the evenings (Oct till March, I think) is well worth the separate ticket too (dress well, it's much more chilly inside the gardens than outside in the streets).

Nice building. Beautiful architecture and gardens. Everything is beautiful, but I wasn't blown away by it. I'm not sure why, and think it's either personal preference or my mood that day. I wish more places included arrows or maps because we nearly missed a lot of what there is to see.

Interesting to see a castle transition from Muslim to Christian nobility. Very few people venture far into the gardens, so peaceful. While the tickets are timed, you can show up to 30 minutes after the selected time. If after your selected time, you can just walk in without the line. The free audio guide is good, although you have to skip through advertising for the paid version.

We only had coffe there and it was expensive again but could be nice experience to have rest over there… Otel has also some nice pool 🏊‍♀️ For you i have put some photos from there as well If you enjoy the day like i do let me know vale😇

Free to visit this is a very interesting place especially if you want to know more about Roman burials. Views of the surrounding countryside are also good. Certainly worth a visit.

Roman Necropolis on top of a hill overlooking surrounding area. It’s an beautiful area. Museum is very small. The necropolis contains the famous elephant tomb where a rich aristocrat’s family was thought to have been buried.

Necropolis, small museum, nice park. No access to underground tombs. Free entry.

A great archeological site with an interesting museum and one of the most unique necropolis I've seen in any roman town across Europe. A must see when visiting Carmona!

Historical landmark
The Alcázar de la Puerta de Sevilla in Carmona is a historical site that showcases remains of defensive walls, gates, and palace structures built by various rulers throughout history. The fortress, which was restored in the 14th and 15th centuries and later in the 1970s, now houses the Carmona Tourist Information Office.
Fun locale for viewing the town. Gorgeous on a sunny autumn afternoon 👍🏽

A town full of history. The castle was the best choice to visit, amazing view over the city.
Legend C — Google review
Great place to visit if you want to understand the city better. This fortress was first built way before roman times. You can clearly see the roman ruins and the ruins of the Arabic period, but the first layer of stones is from the Carthaginian period. The folder gives you a lot of explanation, as well as the texts you can find in one of the rooms. Audio is only in Spanish. Booking required for guided visits.

One of the oldest towns in europe. Great side trip from Seville. The parking is reasonable, with no entrance fee for the old walled city. There are several museums and churches to visit. A very laid back yet intersting place.

Wonderful architecture, a vast palace with several big gardens full of history. Be aware that, because of COVID19, you can only buy tickets online with credit card (code generator machine needed), so if you are coming from an outside country buy the tickets in advance.

On part of the old fortress walls in Carmona. Still majestic though only a small part of it remains. A great place to take photos or climb to the top to see the surrounding area.

Hours of history to explore. You can even use your phone for the audio guide. You can purchase tickets online to skip the line to buy them in person.

If you don't go up this place, you can't say you've seen this city. This is the most beautiful view point. If I should choose between a famous restaurant and this place in Carmosa, I choose this puerta.

Sights & Landmarks
Plaza de España is a landmark square in Seville, featuring a large water feature, seats adorned with painted ceramic tiles, and an ornate pavilion. It's a great spot for families to visit, as kids can enjoy exploring the plaza while adults admire its inspiring architecture. To engage children, you can introduce them to the plaza by showing them scenes from Star Wars where it was featured.
What can i say, stunning place, looks like heaven. The azulejos, the towers, the horses, the bridges with boats under, everything perfect. Is a masterpiece that everyone must visit. In there you will find various street artists and see some flamenco as well. This place is better than what you see in the photos, it gives a vibe and freedom feeling.

The amounts spent on these construction projects are just mind-blowing. And when you remember how many people lost their health or even died there, it gets uncomfortable. 1. Tourists today admire the marble, the gold, the columns—but for someone, all this cost a life. Nobody remembers the names of the workers, though nothing would exist without them. 2. Sometimes I look at these buildings and think: was all this beauty really worth those sacrifices? For some, it’s a symbol of the nation, but for others, it’s years and strength lost. Honestly, I’m always a bit envious of the architects of that time—to plan something on this scale takes real talent. But at the same time, I feel for those who paid for this “eternity” with their health. I can’t feel just one way about it. The architecture is impressive, but the price was enormous. Sometimes you look at a cathedral and realize there’s a heavy shadow behind all that beauty. What about you? Can you just admire places like these, or do you also think about the price?

Sept 2025. Wow! Time was lost as soon as we arrived. Spent a good part of the day just cruising around this gorgeous place and beautiful parks surrounding it. Was easy to walk around, not hoards of tourists (even though i was one haha). The water and bright green flora just popped colour against the majestic architectural marvel that commands its prescence in a humongous semicircle. There are 52 mosaics with tiles representing each province (i didnt count them to check ok). The beautiful Vicente Traver Fountain is in the centre with bridges crossing the canal, good photo opportunities!! It was also a back drop for Star Wars II. Cool. Rent a boat and bob around the small canals for something a bit different, you may spot some fish swimming happily underneath and ducks nurturing their babies, cute as. Part of the building is used by government institutions too. There were some VERY talented musicians playing underneath/amongst the super grand stairways leading up to some great viewpoints. And when you're done with all the beauty of this place, you can check out a couple of stalls out the front, then walk and embark on another adventure, the grand parks and grounds surrounding this place emersed with its own history and beauty. Great place for fitness and many people running, cycling, walking and chilling. My advice, don't skip this place, its a feast for the soul ;)

Oh my goodness. This is an absolute must to see. Worth coming to Seville just to see this. It's absolutely stunning and photos cannot do it justice. As you walk around it, you get to see yet another photo you just have to take. Can't recommend this more. Also, next to it resides a stunning park with lots of interesting structures or features interspersed within it. I recommend doing a zigzag walk through it to find them all. Made for a very satesfying day

Visited Plaza de España in Seville early in the morning in October 2025 to beat the crowds. Built in the 1920s, it features stunning semi-circular architecture blending Spanish Renaissance and Moorish styles, with colorful tiles, fountains, canals, and ornate bridges—truly a photogenic and iconic landmark. When we visited, the canal was dry, but when filled, visitors can row boats along the curved canal for a unique view of the bridges and colonnades. Horse-drawn carriage rides around the plaza and nearby Parque de María Luisa offer a classic, leisurely way to explore the area. We also saw a couple of locals selling souvenirs on the ground. A must-see when visiting Seville!

Loved this Planet Naboo scenery in Seville (Star Wars fan here). It is breathtakingly beautiful and one rarely gets to see something of this scale in real-life. It is simply majestic to visit.

The Plaza de España is one of the most beautiful squares I have ever seen. The majestic central palace blends seamlessly with the serene water canal, creating a truly breathtaking scene. In front of the square, there is a charming garden that adds even more to the beauty of the place. You can also admire the detailed mosaics, each one depicting the history of a different Spanish city—a wonderful way to explore the country’s heritage in one spot. Best of all, the entrance is free, and I highly recommend visiting if you come to Seville.

Magnificent! A simply amazing place to visit. Nobody wouldn't like the beautiful architectures and the smart designs. It really deserves the name of "Plaza de España", it truly shows how grand an empire was and how brilliant the people were. Visited twice, both in the morning and the evening, and both breathtakingly beautiful. I really like the fountain, not a big fan of the horse carts though. In general really a landmark and nice place you wouldn't want to miss when in Seville.

Parque de María Luisa is a significant urban park in Seville, offering scenic plazas with landscaped gardens, fountains, and monuments. The park is part of an area that includes various notable landmarks such as the Giralda, the Cathedral, Reales Alcazares, Torre del Oro, Plaza de España, and more. It's a must-visit destination in Seville and provides a comprehensive insight into the essence of the city.
Beautiful park right next to the Plaza de España. We went there for a quiet stroll after visiting the Plaza de España. In the park you can find shade, made beautiful trees, plants and a wide variety of animals. We also enjoyed the art in the park and the quiet sounds of the trees, the bushes and the animals. Go there if you want a quiet break in the warm city.

You can feel the balanced mixture of nature and human in this place, all the colors and cool architectures are also making visiting this place a unique experience. Definitely recommend to come and visit, such a nice place to chill and relax.

The world famous Plaza de Espana is residing inside the Maria Luisa Park. After watching so many beautiful pictures of this place, I finally made it to get there this past July. Though the weather was scorching hot at >95F during the summer, it was still rewarding to visit this magnificent place. The Plaza was built around 1928 to show case Spanish heritages and history. Thus you can find sections of the regions decorted by colorful ceramic tiles to illustrate their cultures. The plaza has a built-in small canal for boating. But it was closed at the time when an outdoors concert was set up, incidently, the concert stage also consumed most of the plaza real estate. But that did not stop the daily activities at the plaza. A group of artists performed the Flamenco dance in the square, which really highlighted the Spaniards' passion. I was told the dance was originated in Seville. And Seville used to be the center of Spain before Madrid became the Capital. The are plenty of suveniors to buy at the square. The most popular one is probably the castanet after watching the Flemenco dance. Highly recommend this place if you visit Sevelli.

🌿 Review: Parque de María Luisa – Seville, Spain An extraordinary place! Parque de María Luisa is one of the most beautiful and spacious parks in Seville. Located just steps away from the iconic Plaza de España, it’s the perfect spot to fully enjoy the outdoors. The park has a wonderful atmosphere — parts of it feel peaceful and romantic, ideal for a quiet walk or a date, while other areas are perfect for children and families. Whether you’re going alone, with a partner, or with a group, there’s something for everyone. As someone from Argentina, I brought my mate and had an absolutely amazing time. It’s a great place to sit under the trees, relax, have a picnic or some tea, and just enjoy the surroundings. The public restrooms are clean and well maintained. Dogs are welcome, and there are open areas where people can relax or play — including picnic zones, which I loved. 🟢 Highly recommended! Definitely one of my favorite parks in Seville. A must-visit if you’re in the city.

This beautiful park is an absolute oasis in the heart of Seville, offering a truly peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. I spent hours simply strolling through the lush gardens, marveling at the vibrant greenery and the intricate tilework. Every corner reveals another picturesque scene, from the grand Plaza de España, with its stunning architecture, to the quieter, more tranquil ponds and fountains. It's incredibly spacious, so even on a busy day, you can always find a serene spot to relax and soak in the atmosphere. This is undeniably a must-visit for anyone coming to Seville; you'll leave feeling refreshed and invigorated. The sheer scale and beauty make it highly recommended for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty and historic charm. It's a testament to the city's dedication to preserving its iconic green spaces, truly a breathtaking experience.

Lovely park with beautiful plants, lots of animals and a bunch of interesting sights. Perfect for both a walk and also just to chill due to several benches where you can relax in the shadow. Cicadas can be a bit loud depending on the season and the horse carriages leave behind their dumps everywhere, leading to bad smell at some areas.

Stuart C — Google review
The Parque de María Luisa is far more than a city park; it is a sprawling, 34-hectare historical landmark that perfectly captures the romantic and decorative spirit of Seville. Originally the private gardens of the Palace of San Telmo, the land was donated to the city by Princess María Luisa Fernanda de Borbón in 1893. It was completely redesigned by French landscape architect Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier in preparation for the great Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, transforming it into the enchanting "Moorish paradisiacal style" masterpiece you see today. The park is a vital escape from the Andalusian heat, offering lush, shaded pathways, ornamental ponds, and incredible architecture. Architectural and Historical Highlights The park serves as a green buffer connecting the historic centre with the grand pavilions of the 1929 Exposition, many of which remain as museums today. 1. Plaza de España (The Crown Jewel) • Style: Neo-Mudéjar and Renaissance Revival. • Description: This immense, semi-circular building is the park's centerpiece. It features a navigable moat (where you can rent row boats), four ornate bridges, and beautiful arcades. Its most famous feature is the continuous wall of tiled alcoves, with each one dedicated to a different province of Spain, displaying historical scenes and a seating bench. It is a mandatory photo opportunity and often cited as one of Spain's most magnificent architectural achievements. 2. Plaza de América (The Dove Park) • Description: Located at the southern end of the park, this square is a beautiful, formal garden setting surrounded by three major buildings from the Expo: • Pabellón Mudéjar: Now houses the Museum of Arts and Popular Customs (Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares). • Pabellón Real: A smaller, richly decorated building. • Pabellón de Bellas Artes: Now the Archaeological Museum (Museo Arqueológico). Fountains, Statues, and Gardens Forestier’s design created a truly romantic atmosphere, blending geometric Moorish layouts with European romanticism. • Fountain of the Lions (Fuente de los Leones): An octagonal fountain featuring four sculpted lions spitting water, decorated with colorful azulejo tiles. • Glorieta de Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer: A moving monument dedicated to the famous Spanish Romantic poet, featuring a massive cypress tree and marble statues representing three aspects of love: that which arrives, that which is possessed, and that which is lost. • Mount Gurugú (Monte Gurugú): An artificial hill with a waterfall and a small gazebo at the top, offering pleasant views over the surrounding landscape. • Flora: The park is also a botanical garden, featuring palms, orange trees, pines, and vibrant flower beds, creating cool, shaded pathways for strolling. Visitor Tips and Activities • Admission: Entry to the Parque de María Luisa is free for all visitors. You only pay if you enter the museums or rent a boat/bike. • Getting Around: The park is large (34 hectares). You can rent pedal quad bikes (ideal for families) or standard bicycles to cover more ground quickly. • Best Time to Visit: Go early in the morning for the most peaceful experience and to enjoy the cool air before the midday heat. The park is open late in the summer (usually until midnight). • Nearby: The park is right next to the Guadalquivir River, and the Real Alcázar de Sevilla and the Cathedral are within a 15-minute walk, making it easy to combine them into a single itinerary. Conclusion Parque de María Luisa is a quintessential Sevillian experience. It's the perfect place to pause between historical sights, enjoy the exuberant Andalusian architecture, and appreciate the city's unique cultural fusion. If you loved the Mudéjar style of the Real Alcázar, you will adore the architectural detail and expansive beauty of this park.

We had an amazing week at FlySpain on the Mentor Plus program. The combination of professionalism, stunning locations, and excellent instruction made this an unforgettable experience. Fred and Marcelo, our instructors, were absolutely fantastic. They provided comprehensive theoretical explanations and practical guidance, ensuring every flight was a step forward in learning and confidence building. One of the most memorable highlights of the week was flying in thermals alongside majestic vultures. It was a breathtaking and surreal experience, feeling so connected to nature while mastering new flying techniques. The flying sites selected were spectacular and well-suited to all levels, offering a mix of challenges and stunning views. The entire FlySpain team created an incredibly supportive and safe environment, which allowed us to focus on improving our skills and truly enjoy the experience. If you’re looking for a professional and welcoming paragliding club in Spain, FlySpain is the place to go. Highly recommended for anyone passionate about paragliding or wanting to take their skills to the next level

This is my third time back with FlySpain. Just completed a MentorPlus and CrossCountry courses, and again excellent! Great and knowledgeable staff. Made every effort to get us in the air but, also with respect to the weather and skill levels, kept it safe. Fred, Paolo, Rob and Nik with there decades of experience were fantastic instructors/guides. Went to a variety of locations based on conditions. Even a shuttle pick up and drop off from Malaga Airport is included! Excellent prices and accommodations are included as part of the course. Just a 10 minute walk to town for restaurants and groceries. Hope to be back again FlySpain!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FlySpain BHPA CP Course Review I completed my BHPA CP Paragliding course with FlySpain and couldn’t recommend them more highly. Instructors Fred and Rob were exceptional throughout. They struck a great balance between structure and flexibility, keeping safety at the core while adapting to each pilot’s level and confidence. Their pragmatic approach stood out. Those of us with a bit more experience were encouraged to progress faster and try more challenging tasks, while others received the extra guidance and coaching they needed. It created a supportive atmosphere where everyone could develop at their own pace without pressure or delay. The week was well organised, the equipment was in top condition, and the site offered a perfect range of conditions for learning. By the end, I felt genuinely confident flying independently, something that’s a credit to how Fred and Rob teach. If you’re considering learning to paraglide or completing your CP, FlySpain is a superb choice.

Rob, Dylan, Fred, Marcello, and Paolo are incredible instructors — professional, patient, and fully committed to helping every student get the best out of the course. The safety standards are top-tier, and it’s clear how much time and effort goes into every aspect of the training. Great accommodation and a friendly, supportive community made it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend.

The instruction with Tony, Julio and Paulo over the two courses EP/CP was outstanding. Accommodation offers a choice of rooms and cooking facilities with a small pool close to town. Great team, efficient and your safety is paramount to them. Looking forward to returning for my MP!

I did the EP course here in late September/early October. The course and instructors were great and the accommodation was very pleasant to stay in. I would happily come here again for further training! It was also very enjoyable and informative being able to socialise with other paragliders who were staying in the same accommodation but doing different training.

This is my second time coming to Algodonales to do a course with FlySpain. I was on the Mentor Plus with Paolo and Dylan. I really enjoyed my time, despite being a group with varying airtime and experience the instructors made sure they catered to everyone’s abilities. Dylan and Paolo are very safety conscious, knowledgeable, patient and friendly. I got a lot out of the week and was able to be pushed of my comfort zone because I felt so safe and seen (they always had eyes on us and were on the radio whenever it was needed). The instructors were open to my many questions and always had answers and ways to explain things so I could understand. My highlight was having my first thermalling flights! For a travelling dirt bag like myself the price is at my limit of my budget, but I believe it is worth it for the quality of the course, instructors and accomodation. The whole team is amazing. I would recommend this school to my friends and hope to be back again one day. Much love, thanks team!
Scarlett M — Google review
My son and I have just returned from two weeks with FlySpain in Algodonales doing back to back EP and CP courses and to sum everything up in two words: SIMPLY FANTASTIC. We could not have asked for more. Our instructors, Marcelo, Julio, Fred & Dylan overseen by Rob, were all absolutely top draw. We could not have wanted for a more comprehensive, safe, teaching environment with great kit and weather. Nothing was too much trouble and every effort was made to create and enjoyable balance of theory and flying, resulting in some epic soaring flights, including nearly two hours at sunset over El Bosque. To cap things off, we stayed in FlySpain’s accommodation “The Eagle’s nest”, a very comfortable cluster of houses equipped with all mod cons, with outside terraces and pool, five minutes walk from the centre of Algo’ and its cafes and bars. Finally, a shout out to Nic, who clearly works tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the show on the road and makes all of the organisation seem effortless. Truly an exceptional experience and thank you FlySpain for the life changing memories! I cannot recommend them enough.

Visitors can access various parts of the track, providing an up-close experience with race bikes. However, there are no provisions for food or drink or shade from the sun, so come prepared.
Fantastic little motorcycle circuit situated close to Jerez city. Easy to access and the grandstand offer great views for a large part of the circuit. Quite a bit dated now compared to newer and modern circuits. Each to learn and ride but difficult to master. Worth a visit and try if you’re in the area.

We’ve been coming here for several years, spending around £1000 each time, and now we’re told we can’t use cameras — that’s insane. We need the video footage for analysis, and on top of that, the security guard was rude and arrogant. You should post such information on your website — your sales will definitely drop, as everyone will prefer to go to another GP track with normal rules.

The Basílica de Santa María de la Asunción, located in Plaza del Cabildo, is a stunning church with a mix of architectural styles. Its southern facade features an elaborate 18th-century Baroque belfry, while the west side boasts a beautifully carved Plateresque doorway. The interior is a treasure trove of ornate Baroque choir stalls, intricate vaulting, and a lavish Renaissance altarpiece.
Smaller church on top of the hill and took about 10-15min from the center of the town. Slippery roads when wet but with majestic view of the valley down below. Overall we like this white village but can the residents clean up their dog poops? These land mines were everywhere.
DANNY L — Google review
This was our third visit to Arcos de la Frontera and the first time the church was open and it did not disappoint with lots of beautiful artwork and a beautiful alter. Admission was just €2. This is a late Gothic hall-church, with three naves of equal height and a monumental curved apse. The naves are separated by circular pillars made of beamed rods, supporting complex star-ribbed vaults. Although everything inside is worthy of admiration, it is worth noting the Retablo Mayor, an altarpiece which is a true Renaissance jewel; the Gothic mural painting; the uncorrupted mummy of San Felix; the Nieves chapel which houses the image of the patron of Arcos; the extravagant organ and the choir, considered one of the best in Andalusia.

This basilica is a beautiful display of how rich this region used to be during the 14 - 17th century. Almost everything here is made of gold. And the scale of the carvings and central display is huge. Additionally, the viewing tower is a definite must to see and hear. There are many bells on the top that sing every hour. And the views of the area can be captured here on the tower. Overall, this is a must visit when in Arcos.

This largely Gothic styled church was built around the 15th century. It sits atop the limestone cliffs of Arcos on Plaza del Cabildo - a square which is essentially a carpark and also the location of the Parador de Turismo. You'll be rewarded with some great views overlooking the countryside from the mirador or visit the bar in the Parador for an even better view and a refreshing drink after the steep climb to get here. If you're mobility restricted there is a small car park here and also taxis (probably the best option as the street are very narrow in places).

There are some fine examples of leather work, well worth seeing, but not a word of explanation in Spanish or English, possibly due to the leather manufacturer's quest for secrecy of their processes.

Andalucian Cycling Experience is a well-established cycling holiday and tour operator in the stunning regions of Serrania de Ronda, Grazalema Natural Park, and Sierra de Nieves. They offer a variety of cycling experiences including road cycling, mountain biking, leisure cycling, triathlon winter training camps, family holidays, self-guided tours, and vegetarian/vegan options. Whether you prefer guided or self-led tours for short breaks or longer vacations, ACE caters to all preferences.
I had a great week riding with Andalucian Cycling Experience in Ronda. It's a beautiful area to explore, with good roads and lots of climbing. There was a lot of variety in the scenery each day and Ronda itself is a pretty town to be based in. Ashley and Drew were good company and excellent guides, adapting to my pace and supporting me each day. Organising the trip with them was very straightforward.

I’ve been coming to Andalucia to cycle with Andalucian Cycling Experience for well over 10 years now racking up at least 4 or 5 trips in that time. This time was a little colder and I actually finally saw a couple of the very few rainy days in this region but I still had an excellent cycling trip. Ashley and the team are very flexible and have helped make it so easy to get across to cycle including organising airport transfers and hire bikes which have always worked well. Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Ashley, Drew and Michael were absolute troopers ensuring to the daily organisation, enjoyment, safety and fun that we all shared on our bespoke cycling tour of Andalusia (May/June 2025). There's no doubt that Claire played a pivotal role in attending to the many trip logistics and from an accommodation perspective, our selected hotels were worthy of the properties where I would have certainly received a double pat on the back from the wifey, should I have booked them on our holiday in southern Spain 👉🏼😉. A special mention to our stay at the Hotel Reina Victoria Rhonda where the blood red sunset presented that elusive “stop the clock and savour the moment” event, enjoyed overlooking the 6th century BC old valley from the warm of the infinity pool. ACE supplied Willier and Bianchi carbon fiber road bikes that were in like new condition and accurately sized/setup based on our individual measurements that we had earlier provided. The road quality was surprisingly good for such an old agricultural region of Spain but ensure to use plenty of sunscreen if you’re planning to cycle there during Summer as we experienced constant mid-high 30’s and a blistering maximum temperature of 41°C whilst we were there… Considering the diverse terrain and potential heat of Andalucía during Summer, I would recommend Andorra to less competent riders seeking a cycling adventure of Spain. That said, I would highly recommend that you reach out to ACE should you be seeking to tour Europe on a bicycle supported by a friendly company that can competently manage all the necessary logistics.

I had an amazing week with Andalucian Cycling Experience. Everything was customized to exactly what I needed and wanted. They really bent over backwards when my luggage was delayed a day at the airport. All the arrangements were made ahead of time which made the traveling very easy and stress free. The hotel was fantastic and they shared some great dining recommendations. The cycling each day was great and the scenery was absolutely amazing. I really appreciated the personalized coaching and guiding each day. They have good quality bikes for rent and you can take your own shoes, pedals, and saddle if you want. I really built a lot of confidence in my bike handling skills over the week. I would definitely do this trip again and highly recommend it to anyone interested in cycling.

Had a most wonderful journey through Andalucia, taking in some of the most spectacular views you can imagine. ACE were incredible in helping us organise our bespoke tour and they went to great effort to accommodate our specific needs. Awesome trip.

Self-guided Sporting Tour (9 days) We enjoyed every pedal stroke of our self-guided sporting tour – absolutely stunning! Breathtaking landscapes, countless peaceful climbs, fresh mountain air, sunshine, hardly any traffic, and super-friendly people. The hotels were simple but spotless, with delicious breakfasts. All our wishes regarding route lengths and elevation gain were perfectly tailored. Transfers to and from the airport, as well as luggage transport from A to B to C worked out superb. Knowing that Ashley and Claire from Andalusian Cycling Experience had our backs in case of any emergency meant we could just focus on cycling and soaking it all in. What a truly memorable “bike more, worry less” adventure – the perfect way to end a fantastic 2025 season!

Our group of 5 did the self guided White Villages cycling trip though the Andalusians. It was spectacular. Ashley’s team supplied excellent e-bikes, well marked route maps, booked super hotels, and ensured our luggage was at our next location when we arrived. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the trip. Thank you!

I had a fantastic experience with Andalucian Cycling Experience. I am an amateur road racer in the US and wanted a week of training before the spring season to improve my endurance and climbing skills (and of course to ride in gorgeous southern Spain). I rode with Andalucian Cycling for one week with Ashley. There were three other riders who signed up that week and we were able to choose from two pace groups each day. Ashley took us on a different route every day with lengths around 80-100 km and provided a great pace that wasn't too aggressive but also challenged us (he is an incredible cyclist who seems to never get tired!). We had one rest day in the middle of the week and all of the rides included at least one coffee / toast stop. I had such a great time on this week of riding and felt like it helped me become a stronger rider, especially on long climbs. I rented a Wilier road bike, which was comfortable and fast. Ashley also set me up with housing in Ronda, which was a beautiful, newly-renovated apartment within walking distance of the historic core of Ronda. Ronda is such a lovely town to stay in and has great food options, beautiful surroundings and few tourists (at least in the winter). I will absolutely return to ride with Andalucian Cycling Experience again and 100% recommend it to other cyclists who are looking to enjoy beautiful scenic rides, improve their fitness and become stronger racers.

Great little piece of 14th Century history. The castle and grounds are free to visit, when you get to the top be sure to look out to the Booted Eagles nest (I think they are booted eagles) regardless there is around 7 who nest on the rock. Loads of QR information boards around the site. Drive upto the castle is pretty tight but a one way system so not to bad, there is plenty of parking in the carpark. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely open air museum. Fantastic views. Make sure to check out the small cemetery next door for more history.

Well worth the hike to the top of the hill to view the old castle. Spectacular views of the village below and the country side. You can walk up to the tower and then back around the walls. It is free and open during daylight hours or until 9/10pm. You need good footwear as the rocks are slippery and unstable in places.

A nice castle with nice views. During our visit there was a significant amount of renovation work being done and the towers were not accessible. There is almost no parking close to the castle so we recommend parking in the town and walking up (it’s very steep). During off season you should be able to find parking nearby.

Beautiful spot in a sleepy local town. The views were stunning and populated with Birds of Prey. Eagles, Egyptian Vultures I think? We popped over on our wedding anniversary and found it a romantic quiet stroll.

Amazing Views. I wish there were more context. Unfortunately the path to the castle was littered with dog faeces - making the climb very unpleasant especially for those with kids who like to run around. Free to enter.
