The park is a haven for birdwatchers with its bird-watching hides and diverse birdlife. Amazing water park with lots of activities for the family. Finding parking is easy enough and once you're there you can go on bike rides (also available to hire), go for a walk or jet ski. There's also a playground area for children, tourist centre and stunning views. We didn't want to wait in the queue for an ice cream so went to the cafe instead- where there is a good selection of food and drinks There was also a bouncy castle and bungee jumping available when we went Highly recommend a visit- you won't be disappointed
Sobia A — Google review
Lots of area to walk and explore. There are bikes and trikes to hire, ducks to feed and fishes to catch. There is a Good cafe, icecream shop and toilets there. There is jet ski stunts to watch for. And if you are lucky you might even see RC model boat racing happening at one of the members dedicated place. There is plenty of woodland and water body to explore. I would recommend for a day out with family
Kuruvilla V — Google review
Kingsbury Water Park is a wonderful place to visit and we had such a lovely day out. Even in the winter cold, the walks around the lakes were beautiful and perfect for taking the dog. The scenery is peaceful and well looked after, with plenty of information boards about the local wildlife and the nature of the lakes, which really added to the experience. We were lucky enough to catch a miniature boat race on the water, which was great fun to watch. The children’s play areas are brilliant, and the little railway is a real highlight – even though we didn’t go on it, it was still very entertaining to watch. The café was welcoming and served the most delicious hot chocolates, just what you need on a chilly day. Parking is £5 for the whole day, which we thought was excellent value. We’d definitely recommend a visit!
Hannah R — Google review
Can't beat Kingsbury Water Park. Always first thought of for a family day out, £5 parking all day! Huge park to go exploring with the kids, a good size playing area too! If you're lucky, you will see some baby ducks! Great for outdoor exploring, great for families, dog walkers, fishing, and so much more. Well looked after and always and enjoyable family day out.
E.BROWN — Google review
Nice park visited during school holidays hence it wasn’t easy finding a parking space at first. Free admission, paid £6 for parking. Well maintained walkways and many lakes, really nice place with a miniature train, playgrounds for the kids and a cafe, well worth a visit
Chipmunk A — Google review
Lovely place to walk around with plenty of parking in various areas. There is even a sailing club, so great to see. There is a giant play area for the children. There's even a little train.
Loulou V — Google review
What a fabulous place to get lost in! I walked from the campsite on a busy Sunday but met very few people until I reached the msin visitor car park. Here there were toilets, cafe, seating, a huge play area and a little train station. There's plenty of walks, lakes and wildlife and a great day out for young and old. Cafe was slow and seemed a bit inadequate, it took me a long time queuing just to get a takeout cup of tea. And it was difficult to try and follow the coloured trails as at junctions signposting was sometimes missing but these are minor issues.
Kyla F — Google review
It's a great place for a walk or a day out in the nature. There are plenty of activities (fishing, jet ski ing, cycling, etc) and cafés to eat. There is a small train operating around the water park. All day parking better March and October is £5.

Visited Ilam (eye-lam) park today with the family.. we had a amazing time. The kids loved every moment of it.. they were chasing the sheeps around, climbing hills, exploring the vast acres of landscape. A beautiful and clean place to visit for the day. Car parking is £6 for up to 4 hours or £8 for the day, the machines only accept coins or you can walk to the cafe and pay by card.
Nazrul I — Google review
Lovely park with lots of walking routes, we only came to look around briefly as it was late. Got surprised as we found a small eatery inside the Ilam hall that serves food till late evening, also a bar available with lots of drinks. Outdoors had lots of areas for kids to play in.
Jovita L — Google review
Nice large car park and looks like a overflow when very busy. There is a small cafe and information centre. Short walk up Dovedale to stepping stones,or you can go further to caves etc.
Ian F — Google review
Really lovely place. If National Trust member there's no fee. Parking is £8 otherwise. Cafe good though very hard chairs with no cushions (not good with bad back!). Smaller 2nd cafe too. Lots of open green spaces for children to play and there are organised activities several times a day presently though not sure if they may only be during school summer holidays. No house to look round inside, but lovely buildings to look at from outside, and a beautiful church. Walkable to Stepping Stones at Dovedale. Could easily spend a day here! We met up with friends from Sheffield which was equidistant for us so a very successful and enjoyable day. Will definitely return.
Jackie H — Google review
Amazing view and scenery, very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. They have toilets, parking and kids play area, cafe.

Betty's Farm

Mentioned on
1 list
Store
Sights & Landmarks
Betty's Farm is a charming spot that offers an array of delightful experiences. Visitors can enjoy the convenience of a self-service system for purchasing farm-fresh eggs, as well as other delectable items like pies, sausages, bacon, and baked goods. The farm's free-roaming hens add to the picturesque setting and contribute to the high-quality eggs available at very reasonable prices.
Visited twice now and the second time was a lot more efficient. We had a problem with the self-service door not opening on our first visit, but this was resolved by a member of staff. The self service screen is good. The eggs are delicious! Far better than supermarket quality (and cheaper). £1.50 for 6 eggs and £2.60 for 12. There is also a selection of pies, sausages, bacon and baked goods (brownies, flapjacks). Very nice to see the hens roaming free. The coffee is good too! 🐓
Kelly — Google review
Eggcellent place to get great value eggs! Works really well and eggficiently. Overall a cracking little shop!
Harry H — Google review
Nice to see the vending machine stocked up, had that conversation with another customer. I made a comment that it would be nice to see duck eggs available, at that point a worker appeared from the back and I was given a lecture regarding they have 20,000 hens and why would they have duck eggs. I immediately pointed out that they sell cake/pork/sausages/crips/ice cream etc etc and why not consider approaching local producers who sell duck eggs like you do with other items that are available.
Mike — Google review
As soon as you get here you notice how many (thousands) chickens are roaming around freely! What a lovely sight. We bought 30 eggs and we cannot wait to try them.
Harpreet S — Google review
One of the best place for for miles to get some real free range eggs! And you know they are free range, cause you gotta pass them on the way to the shop. And wouldn't call it a shop per se, more like great vending machine for eggs, honey, some meat options and best thing - treats for dogs!
Robertas R — Google review
Have admired Betty's from afar and was in the area so decided to visit. Beautiful, clean and typical farm shop pricing.
Vic F — Google review
Love their eggs, good taste and colour. Hens have plenty of space to roam freely. Simple easy process to purchase what you want from the vending machine, but do miss the shop.
Colin F — Google review
Went for the second time today and was pleased to see the chickens outside! They all looked healthy and they had plenty of room to run around, it was lovely. The shop itself is clean and simple to use. Easy touchscreen with lots of different items for sale. Picked up 12 eggs, rocky road brownies and 2 coffees which were delicious! Definitely going to be getting all of my eggs from here from now on.

This place is such a nice family day out or holiday! It is ideal for all ages and people, old or young, disabled or fine it is perfect. There are no water slides, but what I really like is that the swimming places are more nature like. You can swim, grill, eat, camp and pretty much anything you want! Workers also really nice
ViczoriaGamerYT — Google review
Nice family day out. Car park is a rip off 3 pounds an hour is too much, prices for the boats is a lot as well. The boats was fun though, the beach is non existent so not really a beach the lake was decent nice swim in it just too shallow. Overall kids enjoyed it.
Abid M — Google review
Stayed 2 nights, and for a quick little getaway with the family it was perfect! My girls aged 3 and 6 absolutely loved it! They had lots of greenery to run around and play with other children that they met who were also camping, the hand made beach was perfect my youngest could walk to the other side unaided so isn't to deep and they loved it, we always come for a day out this was our fist time camping and we will definitely be back next year, only thing I would say is toilets and showers could do with updating
Toni M — Google review
For camping, excellent setting plenty to do. Excellent children's playground. Staff made a big effort to keep facilities clean, so it felt virus safe. Really effort to keep bins empty and pick up litter, saw staff out at 8am.
Mike M — Google review
Extremely nice area to go with family as well as children, Good lake, excellent environment, as well as it is fantastic location to do BBQ, we actually appreciated our time. the car park is a bit costly, but we have actually been there 4 to 5 times in 1-month. Good people as well as excellent atmosphere we truly liked it most definitely we would certainly go again.
Ahmad F — Google review
Lovely park with quit a few rides and playing areas for kids.. Parking is also free if you park across the road there is an open huge car park. The only thing is we didn't get chance to hire a boat because we went on a busy day and all boats were sold out. Other than that we had a lovely day with family and kids.
Waseem K — Google review
The kids loved it. Visited on a hot day during half term and it was pretty busy. This was our first visit and went to where we thought the main beach and lake were. The lake was a pool of muddy water. Well, sandy water but it just looked awful and you couldn't see your hand in front you under the surface. On our way out we noticed a second beach next to the cafe, with the crystal clear water shown in the pictures and people talk about in other reviews, so note to all, scope the whole place before deciding what to do and where to sit. Car park was a free for all, but despite the busyness managed to find a space OK, so appears to have ample space, even on a very busy day. Play area was good and there was lots more here that we didn't even get near, kids fairground, crazy golf etc. The downside isn't really the fault of the location, and actually there was surprisiny little amount of litter. However, the behaviour of many groups at the location wasn't exactly ideal around kids playing. Didn't put me off, but not rushing to go back. But the kids loved it.
Dwight E — Google review
Nice place to walk around and chill out, went back yesterday for the first time in over a year, the kids enjoyed the day out and. Also a little kids fair was there with a few rides which they liked. Quite a few people having picnics but was clean and all rubbish was disposed of in the many bins. The water had also been changed in the smaller pool with plenty enjoying it.. Was a Nice day out and the feel of normality again! 👍🏻🙂

Diane G — Google review
Best place in Derby for a walk and bite to eat/picnic. Best location for families or those in wheelchairs for a walk and bite to eat or drink. Staff always friendly and helpful. The new parking rates are high and annoying with their camera system, however easy and cheap to get a yearly pass. Highly recommended.
Jody B — Google review
A really nice place to visit. Take either a short stroll or a longer walk around the lake. A good place to take a dog for a walk. On lead walking seems to be the thing. Dogs can paddle in the lake if they wish as long as they don't disturb the wildlife. Plenty of birds around so a good place to bird watch. Don't worry if you forget your binoculars as you can rent a pair for £3 from the RSPB shop. A play area for kids might be a welcome distraction. Food sold on site as well as an ice cream parlour. Food and drinks are well priced. £3 for a Flat White and £8.50 for a burger and chips. Pay for parking either by app or by machine at the visitor center. £3.50 for 2 hours.

We had a brilliant trip from meadowside back to base. Beautiful views, nice and relaxed atmosphere and you can either let the current take you for a leisurely ride or oar till your arms need a break! We stopped off half way for a picnic on the stoney banks. Will be going again for sure 🙂

Marvelous collection of historical buildings in a beautiful landscape location. Took advantage of the Gardener's World 2 for 1 admission offer tickets. Thoroughly enjoyed the guided talks in different rooms. A later lunch was excellent value for quality food and drinks. Well worth visiting again.

Really interesting place with lots to explore..! I went to see the current exhibition about magic and superstition its very cool! Beautiful gardens and stunning scenery too. Lots of uneven floors and steps so not great for people with mobility issues and I wouldn't fancy taking a pram..parking is charged extra so be prepared for that. Highly recommend 👌

A beautifully renovated medieval manor house hosting a delightfully styled exhibition about Elizabethan connections to magic and mature, informed, educating and entertaining. The beautifully designed gardens are a pleasure to walk around and the host volunteers are friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely restaurant on site, best to book in advance as it's popular. A experience, highly recommended

Great place, we visited during the Magic exhibition and thought it was really well designed in both exhibition text and visually - it was stunning to see in the Hall. Guides were good- especially Chris M who showed us all of the scorch marks and was really informative. The café is small but the food was great. On our way out we were looking forward to the gift shop but found this disappointing, nothing about or related to the Hall or the exhibition. Though it's good to work with what I assume are local small businesses, a core retail offer remaining would have been appreciated as we aren't local so won't be back. The lady running the admissions desk kindly returned after closing so that we could at least buy the exhibition guide. Parking was easy with an attendant and payment was taken on entry as the exit barrier was faulty.

A truly beautiful Christmas Market! What makes it special are the loads of lovely independent stalls—a perfect place to find unique gifts. This is an absolute must-visit during the Christmas season. You'll find that an afternoon or a morning is plenty of time to fully explore. When you get hungry, the on-site cafe offers reasonably priced food, while the food stalls have the standard pricing you would expect at any Christmas market.

It's a smallish medieval country house which is an independent business compared to those often operated by the National Trust. It's quite interesting architecturally but there's not a whole lot to see yet admission prices are quite high. We went whilst they had a theme on Magic and Superstition which was reasonably interesting if quite condensed. The cafe wasn't bad with a decent selection of food and drink offerings Make sure you are steady on your feet as there are significant amounts of uneven floors and stairs

24th September 2025 about 2pm. Firstly, there is a car park across the busy A6 road which is 50mph and really ought to be 40mph to enable pedestrians to cross more easily and more safely. The car park is £4 regardless of how long you stay at the hall. We witnessed an older person trying to exit, who didn't park close enough to the card scanner, had to get out of their car but failed to exit before the barrier came down. That happened 3 times! It's not that the barrier doesn't stay up long enough, it was just that he was older and slower and stopped too far away. The hall is wonderful and a real treasure that is preserved and has hardly been renovated. A very magical place with an interesting history. There are a lot of uneven surfaces so watch your footing. We didn't go in the restaurant as it was quite late. Overall well worth a visit. I highly recommend it. 25th September 2025, as we only got a short visit and felt we loved it and perhaps missed something we went back the next day. It really is a peaceful, magical place and has a bit of an Alice in Wonderland feel to the garden. Perhaps it was all the roses 😁 some of which were red... It was literally buzzing with life and you can look down to Dorothy's bridge which is a beautiful little bridge. There's a bit of a romantic story to go along with the bridge too. We saw a Dipper bird amongst the rocks in the shallow water too.

We went to Haddon Hall Christmas market today. At first it seems tiny, but as you explore the Hall, there is more stalls than you think. Very arty crafty if you're in to that sort of thing. Not many food stalls and the question for coffee were horrendous. The one down side is a lot of people attend which makes for some very cosy moments inside the hall, because the rooms are quite narrow. If you hate crowds, avoid it. A pleasant experience, but far too crowded for me.

Donington Park Circuit is a renowned race track that hosts major national and international events for motorcycles and cars. Visitors can enjoy various motoring fixtures, including the British Motorcycle Grand Prix and the BTCC. Despite some challenges like unfavorable weather, delays, and high food prices, visitors appreciate the friendly staff, easy parking, clean venue, and good views of the races. The circuit's layout provides easy access to amenities such as food stalls and toilets scattered throughout the area.
Went to the BSB meet, Saturday and Sunday. The circuit seems well managed and easy to navigate. Really enjoyable weekend, the track is very easy to navigate for viewing points and lots of good areas to choose from. The ticket prices were good and no extra charge for parking. We had a fab weekend

Great day at the Ferrari challenge event. Event wasn't too busy, and unfortunately a crash on the qualifying laps limited the amount of racing we say for the session. Happily no injuries just a fair chunk of damage to one of the barriers.

I went here for the truck racing with my family, iv also been for super bikes. The place is amazing so much action and always so many merchandise stands. They really know how to put a show on. The price is really great and with kids been free entry its a must vist place

Regular user of the track as this is the closest one we have to us , highly recommend doing a track day if you haven’t done one yet, even if you don’t want to track your own bike you can use small boy bike hire as they are at most events and can give you the knowledge & guidance needed to start your track day journey if your unsure how to start.

Excellent track, i travelled down from Scotland to be part of the BTCC weekend with my son. I was very impressed by how well presented the track was and how clean the Circuit remained all weekend. Plenty of toilets and vendors all all the circuit. I booked in up for the Alliance NAPA Vip experience also which was fantastic..... I managed to score maximum Dad points. Moving forward I'd like to see the park have better camping facilities, porta showers and loos plus an outside cleaning sink are not for me... Even though they were kept spotless. I look forward to returning in the future

Absolutely awesome weekend watching the touring cars, mini’s, Porsche’s etc racing! The café breakfasts and coffee were excellent too and not overpriced and was a brilliant and memorable weekend! A great place to visit, ample parking in adjacent fields and this was our first time here!

I came to Donington Park for the Download Festival and it was an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was electric, the sound quality was incredible despite the huge open-air setup, and the energy from the crowd was next level. The site is massive but well-organized — plenty of signage, food and drink stalls, and toilets (though expect queues during peak times). The location itself adds to the magic. Whether you’re a music fan or just love big events, there’s something powerful about being in a place with such a legendary motorsport and rock history. Camping was a bit muddy (it is Download, after all!), but it’s all part of the experience. If you’re going for a festival or a race weekend, Donington Park delivers. Can’t wait to go back next year! 🤘

Had a lovely time watching my first motorsports event it was a great atmosphere and more locations to watch from than you can imagine even on a pretty packed day having nice next to track section nice grass hills and some grandstands (they might be paid but I'm not sure) it's easy to get around from track to podium to food and sell stands even when there are a lot of people

Nature & Parks
The Heights of Abraham is a hilltop park in the UK, accessible by an Alpine cable car system that offers visitors an exciting aerial ride over the Derwent Valley. Once a lead-mining site, it has been transformed into a visitor center with wooded areas for leisurely strolls and stunning views.
This was an absolute brilliant day out. Started off riding the cable cars up to the top, beautiful scenery to look out. It all felt quite safe! The actual place at the top had plenty of things to see and do! From Wombles to the Caves it was great fun! We had a brilliant explorer for the caves- The Other Steve - he was so full of knowledge and enjoyed sharing it. Kept me interested all the way through and the light show at the end was a great surprise! Great day out and we all enjoyed it!
Becky — Google review
Had a fantastic day here. The staff were fantastic. The in character staff were amazing and so friendly and knowledgeable. Special shout goes to Mel who showed us round one of the caves. She was fantastic and a real credit to you. So funny and knowledgable. There’s lots to do up there. The cable car ride is great. 2 caves to tour and plenty of fun for the kids on the play grounds. The cafe was brilliant. Had a lovely panini in there and some lovely cake. We came on a weekday outside of the school holidays and didn’t have to wait for anything. Lots of walking to be done and some is rather steep.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here today. It was our first time visiting and had no idea what to expect, but what a day we had. I’ve come to write a review because I want to give recognition to Lorin, the lovely guy that did our Cavern tour. He was so helpful, approachable, and even took the time out to stay back and show us some fossils in the final cavern, because my autistic son’s special interest is dinosaurs. He was brilliant with both of my children and made the tour really quite special. Give this man a raise immediately HoA! 🥲🤣

Great couple of hours at least spent with great views . The Cave experience is informative and interesting. The cafe is very good with great selection at reasonable prices. parking is in the station carpark payable . Blue badge holders can pay for time and get an hour ontop free. It is a short walk to the cable car ticket office. Just be aware that the last 150yard to Ticket office is steep.

Plenty to see and do. The cable cart was good fun being dangled so high up. The tower was great for the veiws and cave tours were both informative and entertaining. The staff are all friendly and good fun. Lots of walking involved, but well worth it.

Heights of Abraham is a fantastic family destination—perfect for both toddlers and older kids, with plenty of land to explore, play areas, and exhibits to keep everyone entertained. We especially enjoyed the Wombles exhibition—it was fun and whimsical, and offered something a bit different. The views from the hilltop are absolutely lovely, trampling over the Derwent Valley and surrounding countryside, making the cable car ride all the more magical. The food was okay, but nothing to write home about—not quite matching the beauty of the surroundings. I was also disappointed that they didn’t have a chai latte on the drinks menu, and vegan soft serve ice cream wasn’t available—both would have been great choices to round off a lovely day. Admission is on the steep side: adult tickets cost about £25 online or £28.50 at the gate . It felt quite expensive, especially for a shorter visit, but with a longer stay it might be more justifiable. Overall, it’s a beautiful and memorable place with a lot to offer families. With improvements to the food and drink options, it would be near-perfect!
Chloe B — Google review
Wonderful day out, perfect for dogs also, they are allowed everywhere but caverns and the Vista restaurant. Food a little pricey but picnic tables are everywhere for a packed lunch. The cable car stops half way up for stunning view pictures.

Chatsworth House is a grand stately home located near Bakewell in the Peak District. It offers visitors the chance to explore its lavishly decorated corridors and learn about its rich history. The estate also features a playground, farmyard, and lush grounds perfect for romantic walks or even bringing along your furry friend.
I cannot speak highly enough about this place, it is just "wow" from start to finish. Parking was easy, even on a busy Saturday, the house is awesome, from the gilt Versailles like gates, every room is jaw dropping, completely over the top, lavish decor, painted frescoes on the ceilings and walls, beautiful ornate plasterwork, carved wall panels, leather embellished walls, fabulous chandeliers, gorgeous paintings and a ton of really beautiful pieces of art, ceramics and statues. The staff are super helpful and friendly, I recommend the audio guide, it is very informative. There is a lovely gift shop selling high quality gifts, including Chatsworth's jams, chutney, drinks and house related gifts. Outside the grounds don't disappoint, there are huge greenhouses and plants to see and buy. There is the famous fountain and lake featured in Pride and Prejudice, a massive rockery garden, made from massive stacked granite slabs, I've never seen anything like it. There is a giant hedge maze and beautiful views from wherever you are in the grounds. I believe there is a children's play area and farmyard, but I didn't visit there as I was too tired after all the walking. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the sandwich I got from the deli van, it was quite expensive and the bread was really thick and overwhelmed the filling. Ice cream and sandwiches cost around £7+. There is a restaurant there but I can't comment on that as I didn't use it. There are plenty of well maintained public toilets but not inside the house. Standard Adult entry is £32, including parking, which is on the high side, but in my opinion it is worth it.

Went to Chatsworth for the Christmas markets, light trail and to see the house wonderfully decorated for Christmas. Really enjoyed the decorations in the house, which was a nature theme this year, bringing the outside in. The grandeur of the house is magnificent, with a great history, you can wander round at your own leisure. There are guides in every room who are friendly and very approachable ready to answer any questions you may have. There are lots of places to eat and drink and some nice gift shops, plenty of toilets and amenities for baby changing and people with disabilities. The grounds are extensive and well kept, I particularly liked the rock garden, which looked lovely lit up. The market is very good, with all the usual Christmas stalls, selling gifts and food/wine/ gin tasting, most off the stalls I did notice were card only, I did draw some cash out and ended up spending it in the gift shops. The ground the stalls are on is all got a ground cover on so not muddy. There is plenty of seating areas for when you grab a coffee or burger etc.

We enjoy visiting Chatsworth House. This time an art exhibition was on display, which changed the experience in a positive way. We don’t always get to see the animals, but we were able to this time around. The weather was great. The staff were helpful. We had a poke around the shops. A lovely day out. I would recommend to anyone, especially if you haven’t been before

Visited Chatsworth Christmas on the 23rd November. It was truly a lovely day. The Christmas market is excellent, very different from your average UK Christmas market. The quality of food, drink and products on offer was brilliant. Definitely visit the Scone hut, they are truly to die for. Chatsworth House Christmas display is outstanding and walking the garden just adds that extra dimension to a great day. Add in the gift shops and the overall atmosphere and you will not be disappointed. If you are local in Derbyshire then do one thing, go to Chatsworth, its a no brainer.
Eddie L — Google review
The Chatsworth Christmas ticket gives you access to the House, unlimited entry to the gardens for one day, and you can also access the Christmas market (which is free). It’s a lovely day out and well worth the ticket price. Be warned, food and drink inside is very pricey (but what do you expect?). I’d recommend the Stables for something lovely and warm that doesn’t break the bank.

Fabulous visit to chatsworth house & Christmas Market. Lovely stalls to look round. You will love the house with all the Christmas trees and the wonderful decorations. The walk round the gardens were just wonderful too. So worth a visit at this time of year.

An absolutely magical, Christmas experience! The house itself is mind blowing and each room makes you gasp with how much detail and care has gone into each and every decoration. It was laid out perfectly and even had sounds and scents through each experience. The gardens were beautiful to walk through and the Christmas markets were spectacular 😍 There was something for everyone to enjoy there! I cant wait to come back again next year 🎄✨️🎁
Emily — Google review
Bought tickets well in advance to visit the house and also the Christmas markets. My family enjoyed visiting the house, it's very easy to get around there are a few staircases which you need to navigate. As the visit is in preparation for Christmas there are lots of Christmas trees beautifully presented throughout and the staff are very helpful and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas markets; having been to lots of busy public access Christmas markets like Manchester, Liverpool, York etc it was a fantastic relaxing experience to be able to walk around freely and visit the different vendors. Will certainly look at returning.

The dining experience is truly memorable, featuring an array of hearty dishes that highlight fresh ingredients, such as Lian Wah Hang Quail Farm Fried Whole Quail and succulent Duck Confit.
Great package deal of a wine tour with dinner, bed and breakfast. Nigel the guide was superb, funny and knowledgeable. Not many grapes to see in April in Yorkshire but interesting and worthwhile visit. Food was excellent, wine was lovely and accommodation was nice and spacious. Only minor grumble would be the dinner service is quite early in the evening and PG tips teabags with the kettle in the room. Maybe with climate change I'll go back in a couple of years and see them growing proper Yorkshire tea. 😁

Beautiful location with an extensive view over the valley. The tour is more a lecture as there is not much to see. I lived in California, where most tours were free, including the tasting, but here it is to generate income. It was informative, and the 3 wines tasted were surprisingly good even though all are relatively low alcohol. Lunch however was very good, food excellent, service friendly and attentive plus amazing views. Due to low wine production bottle prices are high which is understandable. As a food and beverage venue it is quite lovely. They do weddings and have accommodations which look nice. A vineyard in Yorkshire that until the day before my visit I did not know existed...definitely worth checking out and I think it is essential to support this kind of local business.

We called in for Sunday lunch after a tour /tasting session. (40 people were on the tour. The man that led the tour was very knowledgeable and funny.) However the tasting part were 3 different wines. 40 people shared 2 bottles of rose, 40 people shared 2 bottles of white wine and you've guessed it, 40 people shared 2 bottles of red wine. There was only just enough wine to take a couple of sips. For the same price the following week we visited a restaurant in Leeds and we had three wines - each glass 70% full plus a snack to accompany the wine. For the same price. The wines were rich in flavour. We had booked a Sunday lunch too and everything was presented well, good size portions, very hot plates. But the plates were taken off the table before we'd finished eating. I just finished and my plate was taken whilst my husband was still eating. His plate was removed whilst he still had his knife and fork in his hands and food in his mouth. We felt rushed out. We had gone to celebrate a birthday and the staff really spoilt it for us. Sadly we will not return.

Sunday dinner 3 course for £31 cannot complain at all. Amazing views and great service. Enjoyed a glass of two of their own wine. Starter was mid but the Sunday roast belly pork and sticky toffee pudding were amazing. Friendly staff too.
Claire W — Google review
We booked for the dinner, bed & breakfast with vineyard tour. Absolutely amazing views. The apartment was lovely but is looking a bit tired in places. It's quite noisy as there is wooden decking outside so the sound of footfall echoes and vibrates through your room. You need to close the curtains as everyone who walks past looks in, I'm a fan of natural light so this irked me. The bed was comfortable and huge but the duvet didn't fit so we had to sleep in the middle of the bed so we both had cover. The service was great, the young lads who served us at dinner were outstanding and very accommodating. The food was great, it looked and tasted lovely. When we arrived for dinner a lady barged past us and was quite rude. We realised later that the lady worked there as she was seated at a table with a laptop. The black pudding, bacon & sausage were overdone and quite hard to cut. The choice of music over breakfast was slightly off putting. Jay-Z singing some horrendously racist words was appalling. We stupidly didn't say anything but a table nearby mentioned the same song. We inadvertently left a kindle & charger behind and emailed a lovely lady who advised us on postage. I've since received an email asking for an extra £5 (on top of the postage costs) for them to take it to the Post Office! A little bit steep, maybe they're not selling enough wine?! We've got to pay it otherwise we won't get our belongings back! Whatever happened to Common courtesy and doing a good deed?
Bourne23 — Google review
Lovely winery. Did the tour £16pp for a 2 hour talk, and tasted 3 wines at the end. The guy doing the talk was excellent and went onto every detail about the vines and wines. Understandably they only produce small batches, but found the wine a bit pricy at £19 per bottle. Stunning views and well worth a visit.

We had afternoon tea followed by a vineyard tour and wine tasting. Beautiful place in a lovely setting. Just a shame the sun wasn't shining. The food was great, friendly staff. The vineyard tour was interesting and the wine was very nice, my favourite was the white wine. Would recommend this place , I think we'll be visiting again and have lunch next time.

Even if you opt not to visit the exhibition, there are plenty of opportunities to explore filming locations throughout Holmfirth. From Sid's Cafe to Nora Batty's Cottage, visitors can follow in the footsteps of beloved characters like Compo, Nora, and Clegg.
The Last of The Summer Wine Museum & Shop is simply excellent! If you are a fan of the world's longest running TV sitcom then you just have to come here! You will be mesmerised at the displays, the TV show memories, the uniqueness of the show and cast, from the golden era of British Television. Although fairly small in size and requiring about 30 minutes to visit, at £4.00 per person entry, this should not detract from how special this place actually is! A great tribute to a really wonderful TV show. Thank-you. 🙂

A bit overpriced for what is there but I'm glad I went. The "gift shop" is a little sparce. Everything I wanted was either out of stock or discontinued. All that said any fans of the series would like it.

We were really looking forward to visiting this place as we are great fans of the show. However, what a disappointment. The 'gift shop' was sparce with nothing really screaming 'buy me', and then we were asked for £4 each to visit the 'museum' a few steps up from it. Lots of photos and timeliness on the walls to look at with a small flat screen monitor showing a couple of out-takes and interviews. But the props looked neglected, damaged and dirty and the whole place looked like it could do with a thorough spring clean. Even the carpet was dirty and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for weeks. Would not recommend.

Visitors can explore well-maintained landscaped gardens featuring tropical plants and colorful blooms throughout the year. The venue also hosts events like Music in the Gardens to support various charities.
This park and botanical garden is an absolute gem in the city! It's such a cute spot, and absolutely lovely to walk around. I was amazed to see so many people running throughout the park, no matter if it was sunny or raining. It's clear this place is a beloved escape for many.

Firstly, this is a free to enter venue. The botanical gardens are a beautiful piece of serenity within a large city. The gardens are stunning and laid out in a way that enables one to amble around relaxing. There are many varied areas with lots of different themes, all utterly gorgeous. We saw lots of squirrels that are so tame they can be hand fed. We also stopped at the café for a very welcome cup of tea. The gardens are definitely worth a visit.

Great place to visit and free too. We were pleasantly surprised, its really is a hidden gem. The Glass House is full of interesting plants and the gardens are really well maintained. The squirrels were very friendly and entertaining.

The botanical garden is beautiful in autumn, with trees in many shades creating lovely layers of colour. We went in the morning, and the squirrels were very active. Several even came close looking for food, which was really cute.

It is a wonderful garden and I am not just saying that because I live close by and I love Sheffield's parks and gardens in general. It has a great variety of plants and species. Has a great cafe. There are often event run at this site too. There are two plant sales that happen in a year, one in spring and one in autumn.

A great place to get away from it all. Some lovely walks around the gardens, loads of plants and trees (looks lovely). Most plants and trees have labels to help you identify them. There are plenty of seats in all parts of the gardens, some are in lovely quiet places. Spent ages just looking at the plants and listening to the wildlife. There is a cafe and toilets. When I visited the indoor part of the gardens were closed for maintenance. It is free to enter!

Surprisingly nice and well kept gardens even in winter! Great for a stroll through nature and an escape from the city. Keep an eye out for the fat squirrels.
Harry H — Google review
A wonderful place to relax with family and alone. It's a beautiful view of different corners. There are a large number of different varieties of magnolia here, about 30 species, so it is worth returning here at the end of May. There is also an alley with roses, both old and new varieties. There is a greenhouse with a great number of plants, especially cool cacti, aloe which was planted in 2003 and looks like a tree, there are also banana trees. Admission is free here, but you can make a donation online. Also on the territory there are many interesting tablets with the history of the garden, which will be especially relevant for children in the study of biology and nature in general. There's a café and a parking lot.

Beautiful stately home with stunning parkland - history oozing out of every pore. Once you've paid to park - it's FREE to get in. Don't miss Evelyn de Morgan's wonderful Pre-Raphaelite paintings - and the ceramic art of her husband William.

An attractive and interesting C18 Georgian house, with an interesting interior. Lots of rooms to wander through. Not too crowded, even on a busy Sunday. Free admission. There’s a good display of ceramics and glasswares. The grounds contain some lively mature trees and a ‘hunt the dragon’ woodland walk which is fun for the little ones. Parking is charged, but at reasonable amount. Highly recommended.

I have been visiting here for 40 years on and off and out is just a beautiful place to walk around. Plenty of adventure for young kids, very dog friendly and so, so clean and tidy. Sincerely hope this place is still here for my grandchildren to enjoy one day.

Wanted to go in this museum but have always had the dogs with us ( no dogs in the museum.) Free to get in with a donation box if you wish to add a contribution. Lots of lovely original features of the house with bits of more modern houseware thrown in too. We prefer the really old furnishings, so the more modern stuff was a bit overlooked by us but will appear to some. A lot bigger inside than I anticipated with the floor space well utilised. Museum staff were on hand to explain anything people wanted to know and plenty of signs that explained about a lot of the history of the house and its occupants. We spent about 45 minutes in here but could have spent longer if we had read all the information available ( but we were limited on time.) There are toilets in the main house with a disabled toilet, plus a changing area for adults with disabilities and their carers. There are also lifts within the house for wheelchair users. The car park is a few minutes walk, but disabled bays are very close to the house. There is a coffee station with outdoor seating in the courtyard at the back of the house which is a lovely setting to have a snack and a drink. It’s nice to see a museum that has so much on hand for the younger generation to use and explore.

Lovely place to sit and relax throughout the year. I love architecture of the gothic town hall in the back drop. Gorgeous! Recently it hosted ‘Sheffield by the Sea’ which had whole host of rides, games, a giant sandpit and a lot more. The food stalls were not that great at this event. Had to go to M & S for picnic items.

Peaceful, especially with the sound of the waterfall... Water fountain great for kids to play, two were there when I was and they had a joy running through trying to avoid the water springs from below. Grass area too, apart from the surrounding many benches. Beautiful building right in front of you. Good as a rest spot as you make your way through the town.

I was wandering around the Peace Gardens and surprisingly found an ice cream truck surrounded by kids and parents. They sell all kind of flavours and I picked strawberries. Not gonna lies, at first I was skeptical of its taste judging the book by its cover, but it was gooooooood. I’ve never tasted such softness of an ice cream and I was definitely amazed by the right amount of sweetness. I am not fond of the kind of sweet that would rot my teeth. And this ice cream clearly worth a second try🤩

What a brilliant and beautiful place. I am a carer for a boy with disabilities who is not easily entertained or kept engaged enough to not want to leave place after 2 hours, Canon hall was different. Greeted by a lovely lady called Rebecca who scanned our ticket we booked online. Rebecca kindly and clearly explained about the pumpkin patch and the activities on the brochure given to you. Rebecca also gave me a great heads up about the free parking for care assistants - honestly really helpful annd genuine advice from her. The little boy I Look after enjoyed every section. - The goats -the sheep ( sheep racing was his favourite) - watching the cow get moved about - all the other animals -the two different park sections - the pumpkin patch -the pumpkin carving - anddddddd a soft play area ?!? We were spoilt for choice. Spent 4 hours here, could have been a lot longer if we didn’t have to get home. On our way out we also bumped into the lovely Rebecca again who interacted brilliantly with the little boy I look after and explained to us the best way to get out ( give that woman a raise she was great). Canon hall farm is a beautiful, scenic place to come to, and most staff are friendly and genuine. I recommend it highly 👍

The parking was really big and more than enough spaces. We pre paid online. The farm is fantastic, it's well set out and enough for all ages to enjoy. The animals are well looked After and the surroundings are well cared for. Love the farm shop. Definitely will be back again. You could take your own food and leave it in your car until needed, also cafe well laid out, clean and has a play area for. Kiddies.

This place has been on my bucket list for such a long time. What a gem! I could’ve have walked around three times instead of twice. Visited with my teenage son and hubby. We all loved it. Staff are friendly. The lemon drizzle style ice cream was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS 😋 The chips are delightful. The shop was great. But the highlight for us all was all the fabulous animals. Piglets, chickens, sheep, meerkats, alpacas, Guinea pigs, reptiles, cows, goats, reindeer. I could go on and on. The animal feed was cheap and loved by the sheep and cows. I was disappointed that we couldn’t get closer to the animals but it was still a fantastic day and I didn’t want it to end. The paths are well maintained. The animals look so happy and well looked after. I was sad to leave, especially as we’d not seen farmer Dave or Rob, but maybe next time as I will be back.

Well done Cannon Hall Farm.

The Lyceum Theatre, located in Sheffield's city center, is a historic late 19th-century venue known for hosting touring West End musicals, comedy acts, and locally produced shows. Adjacent to the Crucible, it offers a traditional theater experience with over a century of history.
We have been several times and loved it every time! The theatre is awesome, seats comfortable with reasonable leg room. Pre-ordering interval drinks is a must!
Lu D — Google review
A nice, small theatre venue with good views from most seats. We visited to watch a show and had no issues with our seats in Row P. The bar prices were reasonable and that staff were friendly when showing us to our seats. I would visit this theatre again if they had a production I wanted to see.
L C — Google review
On this occasion visited to see the Tina Turner life story which was fantastic. High production values brilliant lighting and sound we quality. The real gem though is the auditorium itself. It's a masterclass of high victorian architecture. Even if live theatre isn't for you (and I pity you if that's the case) put yourself out and book to see anything. The building itself is the real star of the show.
Shirley M — Google review
Kinky Boots - great. Even sitting up high we could see and hear OK. But there are a LOT of stairs. Very pretty theatre.
Louise — Google review
A lovely theatre with a lot of charm. We were here July 2015 to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The theatre was clean and well cared for and staff incredibly kind. The seating was very tight and narrow, and I suspect could be limiting for some people. Our knees were crammed in front of us and the armrests dug into my hips. The show was fun - though it wasn’t my favourite arrangement of Joseph I’ve seen (having so many children play adult roles opposed to being the choir didn’t make for a more impressive production). But Joseph and the narrator were both excellent.

We went to see Tina Turner: The Musical, and we've got tickets in the stalls. The view was superb, and the show was one of the best I've ever seen; it was worth every penny.
Rachel C — Google review
Lovely Theatre. Very helpful staff, I had trouble with my ticket not scanning, but we persevered and we got through. Staff on every level and entrance to theatre to guide you round. There are bars and ice cream on all floors, all of which get very busy. There is a disabled lift which goes most of the way up, but some steps are needed to go up to most seats. Not bad leg room in the grand circle but the God's is a bit of a squeeze. Been a few time for various productions. Never seen a bad one. Well worth a visit.
Kate R — Google review
We went to see Tina Turner the musical last night at the Lyceum. It was absolutely fantastic. Cannot give enough stars for the cast and energy of this performance would definitely see it again another year. The story telling of her life is raw and the songs are powerful. The biggest accolade I can give is we saw Tina live in the 80,s and these Tina,s have got it down to a big “T”. We go to the Lyceum on a regular basis and it never ceases to give you that sense of awe for it beautiful old cornices and gold accessories and paintings it’s a pleasure and it all adds to the atmosphere of the night.

The Crucible Theatre is a versatile 980-seat venue that hosts a variety of performing arts events, including the annual World Snooker Championship. Despite its popularity, some visitors have criticized the narrow seats and lack of legroom. Additionally, accessing the theatre and parking can be challenging. However, Sheffield Theatres organizes creative projects at the Crucible, such as the Connections Festival for young theatre-makers and Launchpad for adults with learning disabilities and/or Autism.
We visited for the first time to watch the World Championship Snooker. The venue is great, it's fairly small which means that every seat has a good view and it offers an intimate atmosphere. It was very clean, the seats were comfortable and the price of drinks was fairly reasonable for a theatre. Let's hope the Snooker championship stays at this lovely venue.

This is the most friendly and most delightful snooker venue you can imagine. You are all so close to the action that it is electric. Just outside the venue you can watch the snooker sitting in a deck chair on a huge screen . There is a great pub also close by. Sheffield people make your visit special.

Excellent, theatre, showing the latest contemporary performances. Recently visited the theatre for a harmonic rendition of ‘Giddy Goat’. A mountain goat, who unlike her family does not like heights. Very good fun. Our children really enjoyed it.

Came here for the 2nd round of the snooker world championship. The staff were all so lovely, from security outside to those at the bar. The bar had lots of staff on too so we were always served very quickly! Inside the theatre, the seats were very comfy and we were shocked at how close you actually are to the snooker (I guess with it being a small venue). Had a really great time!

Hardwick Old Hall, located in Chesterfield, is the birthplace of Bess of Hardwick and a stunning example of Tudor architecture. The manor features Italian-inspired design and intricate plasterwork interiors. Although now in ruins, it is open to the public and administered by English Heritage and the National Trust. Visitors can explore the historic charm of the building and admire ambitious plasterwork decorations in its major rooms.
We've been to Hardwick Hall many times, but this was the first time we've been able to go around the ruins of the Old Hall. The building is owned by English Heritage but operated by National Trust, so NT members don't need to pay to go in. A really fascinating early Tudor building, and the remains of the plasterwork are just amazing . It us also huge,,and it was a delight to climb to the upper stories. Well worth a visit.

You can tell some of the old hall has been restored recently, but quite tactfully. This clearly was a grand place once upon a time. This site is English Heritage but managed by National Trust. You can get free access to BOTH new and old Hardwick hall with your EH membership (including parking).

Everything was so interesting — both the castle itself and its history. I was amazed by the number of tapestries in the rooms; everything looked so harmonious and had its own mystical charm. There are many paths where you can take a walk and simply enjoy nature and the peaceful solitude.

Very nice place to have a day out.

A lovely place to visit with beautiful tapestry's, great countryside views.

Bess of Hardwick, Countess of Shrewsbury, was born in her father's manor, now old Hall at Hardwick, which today is a ruin beside the 'new' hall. Hardwick Old Hall, a slightly earlier house which was used as guest and service accommodation after the new hall was built. It is administered by English Heritage on behalf of the National Trust and is also open to the public. Many of the Old Hall's major rooms were decorated with ambitious schemes of plasterwork, notably above the fireplaces. Remarkably, impressive fragments of these are still to be seen (protected by preservative coatings and rain-shields), though most of the building is unroofed. You can go all the way to the top, which has some great views. Both Hardwick Hall and the Old Hall are Grade I listed (the highest designation) by Historic England.
Pete H — Google review
Recently reopened after some preservation work to the plaster work. It is still an English Heritage property, but now run by the National Trust, so you can access both halls on either membership. There are staff about or you can wonder freely and read the information boards dotted about. English Heritage do a guide book but only from there website, currently none in the shop. National Trust has one for the new hall with a brief mention of the old hall. Plenty stairs to climb with a fantastic view from the top, stairs are easy but some are uneven. Worth doing first if doing both halls

Hardwick Hall, located just outside the Peak District National Park, is a 16th-century country house with two halls to explore. The Old Hall is in ruins but offers an adventurous exploration, while the New Hall has been restored to its original grandeur by the National Trust. The estate boasts extensive formal gardens and parkland with family woodland trails. Visitors can enjoy a lovely restaurant and a National Trust gift shop on-site.
Visited Hardwick Hall with my girlfriend and we had an absolutely fantastic day. Built in the late 1500s, the house has amazing Elizabethan architecture, with huge windows that flood the rooms with light. Inside, we were captivated by the extraordinary collection of tapestries, some of the oldest in the country still hanging where they were first placed over four centuries ago. They are remarkably well preserved showing stories of wealth, power and artistry. The gardens were fantastic, offering peaceful pathways, bursts of colour and beautiful views of the Derbyshire countryside. The staff we spoke to were friendly, engaging and brimming with knowledge, making the history come alive. Hardwick Hall is an absolute must visit and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

It was our first visit and we hadn't realised how big the site was. We recently had English Heritage membership, so had free entry. There was ample free parking and the ruins of the old house and impressive newer house. Lots of interesting history and rooms you can access, such as Bess' bed chamber. Lots of tapestries, including one made by Queen Mary. Nice shop and cafe and beautiful gardens. Plenty to see and do.

A really amazing place to visit. We only expected to be a couple of hours at most, but there was so much to see. The visit also includes the adjacent old hall ruins. The house is stunning, and the interiors are decorated with the most amazing embroidery which hangs from almost every wall and room. The volunteers are very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the property. We took our dog and he was welcome in an area of the restaurant, which was nice as it was cold and raining. We would have liked to walk more of the grounds and gardens, but the weather put us off. They do look stunning and I'm sure on a better day would have been very enjoyable.

Fantastic to look around. Amazing house and gardens, easily able to spend a full day there and more. I could just look at the tapestries for days! Well worth a visit if you're into history or just beautiful places.

We haven't been here for quite a few years and we're pleasantly surprised, there is a lot more to see and do. The guides were interesting and knowledgeable but not overpowering like at some properties. A very pleasant day out 😁
Jillian S — Google review
Expect an expansive estate as the drive from the entrance to the parking lot must be a mile long. This property features two historic buildings: Old Hardwick Hall and the Renaissance style Manse known as Hardwick Hall. Bess of Hardwick was born in the original hall and had it renovated to impress guests in 1587. When her 4th husband died and she came into substantial funds she built the latter and present day manse. We were able to tour both with our National Trust memberships (via Royal Oak Society). One can climb to the top of the Old Hall for a bit of a view of the countryside if the weather is accommodating. There are no handrails, though, so take walking sticks if you think you need support while traversing the original stone steps. The Manse is huge and the tour is quite extensive. It is self guided but volunteers are available for questions. Some unique features are the longest Elizabethan Long Hall in the National Trust holdings. It has 450 year old tapestries hanging on the walls. There are also four noble women tapestries that Bess designed specifically for this house. She was obviously quite a talented woman. There are some gardens along the front and the back of the house, but not a formal designed style like you see on some properties. Parking was in a very large lot a bit of a distance from the entrance. There is a cafe on the grounds that offers a delicious cream tea as well as a myriad of other delights, all reasonably priced.

Intriguing place punched atop a hill looking out sadly over the M1 now, but back in the day it would have been quite the most magnificent spot for party's. Some old Yes topiary and magnificent Cedar of Lebanon stand century in the garden providing a great contrast from the pinkish yellow stone and unbelievable lead pane windows which adorn the hall.
Charles D — Google review
A wonderful historical place of interest with stunning tapestries. We spent a very happy 3 and a half hours there. Checking out the history of bess's family, with help from the very knowledgeable volunteers. Strolling the gardens and climbing the 127 steps of old Hardwick hall. Then stopping for a very tasty cheese scone and coffee in the restaurant.

Nottingham Castle is a historic mansion that offers displays on local history, decorative items, and renowned international artists' work. The castle provides an excellent view of the town and features remarkable bronze sculptures of Robin Hood and his tribe by James Woodford. Damaged in 1651, it was replaced by an Italian-styled citadel owned by the Duke of Newcastle.
Nottingham Castle. I was at a loose end and decided to go for a day out. Absolutely fabulous, a lot of interactive exhibits which are ideal for both adults and children. The art galleries are absolutely perfect and the cafe is great too. The shop is perfect for all pocket sizes and the grounds are beautifully looked after. For the adult ticket of £15, it’s free entry for a year so is worth going just for that!

Nottingham Castle played an important role in Britain's history. Apart from being famous for being home to the Sheriff of Nottingham, the castle was a strategic stronghold during England's civil war in the 1600's. Today the castle is museum that houses exhibits of Nottingham's lace manufacturing, studies surrounding the "Major Oak" in Sherwood Forest, and many other interesting displays. Outside the walls is a statue of Robin Hood that is a must see for visitors. Beneath the city is a network of caves that are also present at the castle. Booking a tour of the castle caves provides visitors with much more information about the history and importance Nottingham Castle has played in Britain's history.

Cool castle ramparts encasing a grand mansion steeped in history. Highly recommend booking a cave tour to explore the tunnels within the castle rock. The guides are hugely knowledgeable and give you a fun, educational, story-filled experience.

Nottingham Castle looks impressive and full of history, even from the outside. The grand architecture and its position overlooking the city make it a striking landmark. The grounds and surrounding area are beautifully kept and offer great photo opportunities. A must-see spot that captures the heritage and charm of Nottingham!
Harsha J — Google review
The castle is nice but was expecting more of a castle then an art museum. There are few interesting exhibits. The castle looks nice from the outside, the grounds are nicely maintaned offering nice views over Nottingham. The price is a little high for the experience. The Robin Hood experience is nice but is more of a playground for kids with interactive stuff, for adults kind of boring. The cave tour was nice but to pay extra for that, above the entrance price can be pricey for some folks compared to the experiance. The staff is nice and hepful. You buy tickets at the entrance or online waiting in the queue is the same to enter. Next to the castle you'll find a mini square with the statue of Robin Hood. The Forest exhibition is let's say ok but doesn't really impress, a natural woodland walk might be better. One visit is enough honestly, doesn't make any sense to visit the castle again especially if you travel from a bigger distance. The location of the castle is very good, in the city center, car park buildings close by. The souvenir shop and restaurant is nice.

Nottingham Castle is a great mix of history, legend, and modern storytelling. The museum inside offers well-presented exhibits about Robin Hood, local art, and the city’s past. The castle grounds are beautifully maintained with lovely views over Nottingham. While the original medieval castle no longer stands, the experience is still engaging and family-friendly — worth a visit if you’re exploring the city’s heritage.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly entry price is reasonable but..... I was expecting more castle. I am aware that the castle is self was destroyed many many years ago. I enjoy looking at castles in their various states and wonder what they would have been like. The exhibitions were informative and interactive.

A great day out, the caves tour is a must and was an excellent way to start our visit. Then all the exhibits actually inside the castle were really engaging and interactive! I felt like there was loads to do and I learnt loads. Also the view from the top over Nottingham was lovely!

Lots of people out and about enjoying the summer sunshine. Eating their lunches, going about their business. Lots of atmosphere with a relaxed vibe. I really enjoyed my walk across the square today. The water features looked fantastic in the bright sunlight. Beautiful today! Recommended.

Main square in Nottingham and central point of the city. All the streets originating from the Old Market Square are packed with countless shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes... To bad there are not more good bars and terraces right on the square. However there is virtually always something going on there, whether it is a food market, street performances, the wheel, the summer beach, the Christmas market...

It's a nice place to be. I mean it's one of the most iconic landmark in the city. Coming here all the time, never gets bored.

The establishment is rich in history, with the famous lion sculptures guarding the entrance to the Council House located in front of it. This establishment boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal or a night out. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes, catering to various tastes and preferences. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The comfortable seating and ambient lighting create a relaxed setting. It's a great place to enjoy good food and good company.

Unfortunately this is not the best wetherspoon I visited in Nottingham. Lot of empty glasses and dity plates were still left in the tables, so I needed to put it aside and it was taked couple of minutes for the staff to take it aside. The toilet was gross, never ever go to their toilet again. But the service was fast and food was typical wetherspoon. Need lot of things to improve for this place.

Cheap drinks and right in the heart of town. Fun atmosphere with people from all walks of life. Meal deals looked good too.

Met up with a group, we all order breakfast. Food started arriving and unfortunately eggs and bacon were cold, eggs were over cooked. Person from the group asked for a fresh breakfast as her breakfast was cold too. I just didn't eat the cold items. Tried to ask the lady who was serving us but unfortunately she was very busy as the only person upstairs serving breakfast plates to the entire floor. I don't think I will be coming back. Oh and you have to walk all the way down stairs to get to the coffee and tea machines, personally I have a back and hip problem so it wasn't very nice to have to keep going up and down stairs. Need more staff and floor plan should be looked at IE coffee and tea station is a need upstairs.

This is a large, pleasantly decorated and very centrally situated pub. I found the service in Nottingham generally very good and this is no exception: the staff were welcoming and very efficient. The price of food and drink is, as usual unbeatable: by far the cheapest of anything comparable in the city centre. I noticed that they had a booklet (presumably common to all Wetherspoons) with helpful descriptions of the wines on offer: I really like this because it demonstrates a real commitment to providing good quality wines to working people. TOP TIP: as with all Wetherspoons, some of the clientele can become quite ‘boisterous’ (aided by the best value booze for miles). TOP TIP: you therefore need to choose the best times to visit: my preference is for early afternoon or evening at weekends and at any time from Monday to Thursdays. Recommended.

Yet another brilliant Spoons. Easy ordering on the app, very quick service of food and drinks and great prices. Great for breakfast!

It is a very good wetherspoons, I like to go upstairs and get a window seat overlooking the city Square. The food is nice for what you pay for it. The drinks are cheap and they have a good selection of real ales. It gets quite lively on a weekend and a good atmosphere.

Food was tasty and came quick. Tables were being cleared quikly but not wiped down. Security more interested in looking at phones than create a safe space.

The City of Caves in Nottingham is a fascinating underground attraction that offers a glimpse into the city's rich history. The network of over 500 sandstone caves has been developed since Anglo-Saxon times and now serves as a popular family destination. Visitors can explore various historical sites within the caves, including a medieval tannery, Victorian slum remnants, and an air raid shelter from World War 2.
Had a nice experience while visiting the place. Better to buy tickets in advance. The entrace is under the flyover next to the Contemporary Art Gallery. The staff is nice you can ask many questions about the cave system. Our guide was very nice giving good information about the life people had in the past and how the cave systems were used in the past. The way he explained some interesting facts were funny, engaging and informative in the same time. Inside the temperature is comfortable. If you're visiting Nottingham give it a try you'll like it.

These Guided tours are very informative and interesting, great on a hot day as it's lovely and cool down there. We visited with the intention of us all going in, however it's not ideal for toddlers. Our 1 and a 1/2 year old son would have found it very frustrating had he gone down. Our kids between 9-13years loved it as a lot of the tour was about children! Would recommend a visit with kids or as a couple of you are Into hidden history of cities!

Dave our guide put on an entertaining tour with fun and drama to keep the younger members of the group entertained. It’s great when someone puts so must effort into making this tour so memorable in the forty five minutes time frame. Thanks for giving me an insight into life in the caves as I’d no idea so much took place there.

A must-see in Nottingham! The caves are fascinating, and our guide Andy was fantastic — funny, knowledgeable, and full of great stories that brought the underground history to life. Top tip: wear comfy shoes, as the ground can be uneven. Such a unique experience right under the city centre!

Hidden beneath the bustling streets of Nottingham lies an extraordinary network of history, atmosphere, and intrigue — the City of Caves. This subterranean wonder is more than a collection of ancient sandstone chambers; it is a living chronicle of the city’s past, beautifully preserved and thoughtfully presented. My visit was made all the more memorable thanks to our fantastic tour guide, Sam, whose warmth, wit, and depth of knowledge brought the caverns vividly to life. From the moment the tour began, she effortlessly balanced historical insight with engaging humour — even jesting that if we didn’t enjoy the experience, we should attribute it to “Philip” instead. Naturally, there was no need for poor Philip to take the fall; Sam’s delivery was impeccable. Her ability to weave fascinating anecdotes of medieval tanners, wartime air raid shelters, and long-forgotten dwellers transformed what could have been a simple historical walkthrough into a truly immersive journey. One could almost feel the weight of centuries pressing gently through the stone walls, softened by Sam’s charm and enthusiasm. The atmosphere below ground is simultaneously eerie and comforting — dimly lit tunnels giving way to surprisingly spacious chambers, each echoing with the whispers of those who once lived and worked here. It’s a setting that invites reflection, curiosity, and, for those with an appreciation for the finer subtleties of history, genuine awe. In short, the City of Caves is a Nottingham treasure — a reminder that some of the most remarkable stories are told not in grand halls or museums, but in the quiet depths beneath our feet. With Sam as your guide (or perhaps “Philip,” should you prefer the mystery), it is an experience not to be missed.

Buy tickets in advance to get a time slot. The tickets are valid for twelve months. The guided tour was great, lots of stories and information from our guide. Would recommend, along with the Halls of Justice. Maybe not for the claustrophobic!

It's an interesting visit. You see places carved out of the 245 million year old Triassic period sandstone. There is a 13th century well, medieval tannery areas begun in 1250, what they think was a cesspool and WW II shelter areas. The guide described the work of the "cesspool gong farmers" who were a Tudor-era laborers whose job was to remove human excrement from cesspits and privies. Sometimes they passed out from toxic fumes and drowned. She also talked about Luddites who were thought to have plotted here and the warning system they had- a child lookout would drop stoned down to alert them if a raid was happening. If you buy your ticket for here and the National Justice Museum together you can get a discount.

What an awesome tour guide Stephen was. Brought the unusual caves of Nottingham to life with some great stories told with wit and passion. The best thing we experienced in Nottingham and value for money, purely for Stephen let alone the interesting cave/tunnels. Total time 1-1.5 hours

The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is a premier indoor entertainment venue that hosts a variety of events, from big-name concerts to sporting events. With a capacity of around 10,000 people, it has welcomed chart-topping icons like Beyonce and Elton John, as well as popular comedians such as Michael McIntyre and John Bishop. The arena has seen performances from renowned bands like Keane and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
Absolutely fabulous - taxi dropped us right at the entrance. Brilliant view from our seats, although the concrete steps were a little scary, and the handrails had too many gaps in them. But the view was incredible. All of the arena staff were amazing, helping people on the steps and very friendly. We called a taxi from outside after the show and it picked us up in a minutes despite how busy it was. We would definitely go to a show at this venue again.
ShenaRibena R — Google review
Visited the arena for the first time last night to see rock orchestra. The concert was amazing... But so was the arena, it's facilities and it's staff. On arrival, there was a very fast moving queue through a security check and then in to a ticket scanning queue, despite the large number of people we were inside the stadium in less than 3 mins. Inside it was busy, it's a nearly sold out concert of course it was busy but every thing just flowed well. The bar staff were fast and efficient at dealing with customers and moving to the next, the toilets were clean and the one way on and another way out system worked a dream to keep the flow constant (unintended pun). Prices for drinks and food were reasonable for an arena, I didn't feel ripped off, but being a Yorkshire man I always love a bargain if I can find one. The staff were very friendly and approachable and excellent knowledge of the arena. Absolutely would visit again in future for other events! Well done!

A World-Class Night: Duran Duran and VIP Hospitality at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham truly lives up to its reputation as a world-class entertainment venue. While the arena is a long-standing cultural landmark in the East Midlands, attracting massive international acts to its 10,000+ capacity, experiencing it via a VIP package for the Duran Duran concert took the entire evening to another level. The experience began with the VIP dinner and hospitality, which was the perfect prelude to the main event. We were impressed by the attentive, professional service and the quality of the dining. It provided a sophisticated and relaxed atmosphere, completely bypassing the typical pre-show rush and crowds. Having a dedicated space to relax and dine made the transition to the show seamless and truly felt premium. Once the show started, the arena proved why it's such a vibrant hub for live music. Despite the massive capacity, the acoustics were surprisingly crisp, allowing Simon Le Bon's vocals and the band's iconic synth-driven sound to shine through clearly. Duran Duran themselves were phenomenal, delivering a high-energy set of hits that had the entire crowd on their feet. The lighting and visual production were top-tier, fitting the grandeur of the band and the venue. In short, the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham provided a flawless, end-to-end entertainment experience. From the elevated pre-show hospitality to the flawless concert atmosphere, it was a night that was well-organized, highly enjoyable, and certainly confirmed the venue’s standing as one of the best in the UK. We’d highly recommend the VIP route for anyone looking to make a great night even more special.

Went here for The Secret of Us Tour ‘25, it was amazing! The staff were super friendly and helpful! Snacks and drinks were on the expensive side and the water you could get wasn’t really that cold and it was extremely warm in the arena. Also the toilets were kind of gross but obviously they can’t clean during a show unfortunately. Other than that, everything was pretty good, including the sound even from up in the nosebleeds seats!

Went to see Mcfly play, they was absolutely brilliant. The arena was very well organised for the event, better than a lot I have been to! Got us in quick, also doing security checks which some people may groan about having to wait longer, I think this is a good thing.

Visited for the first time to see Marilyn Manson. I was on the floor in general standing for the gig, right in the heat of the mosh pits, so I don't really remember what actually happened! Although, I do remember how good the venue is. Only problem I'd say is if you have vertigo, do not book in the upper seats. From the view I had, it is very steep. But, overall brilliant venue.

Really good venue! Excellent transport links, easy to get in and out of, find the loos, get a drink etc.. Its big enough to draw grate bands and feel epic, but still has a hint of intimacy to it. That bad you like? If they're coming to the ice arena, see them here.
