Drayton Manor Resort is a must-visit destination for adventure seekers and animal lovers alike. The resort features a large adventure playground with 12 rides based on Thomas the Tank Engine, as well as indoor play areas and parklands. Additionally, visitors can explore Drayton Manor Zoo, which is home to over 100 species of animals, including endangered species protected under various conservation programs.
I had an amazing day at Drayton manor and it was definitely worth the money spent. I was very fortunate to plan my day on the least busy day at the theme park all year, there were weather warnings out as well as it being a weekday in September so there were less than 600 individuals in the park. Due to this, I was able to go on every coaster 3 times, including the wave, I also went on Loki and Thor 3 times. I went on every single ride in the park and all of the staff were amazing, welcoming, friendly and funny! Because of the amazing atmosphere between guests and the staff the day was great, I felt confident to go on many rides by myself and even at the front of every coaster (some rides I had entirely to myself!) due to the weather the only rides that were closed were slepnir, river rapids, air racers and bounty pirate ship, on the day the website didn’t detail that all these rides would be closed and only bounty pirate ship so I was a little disappointed however the day was so amazing and I got my money’s worth so it didn’t bother me. The only two issues I found during my trip was that the zoo was practically empty, either all the animals were hiding due to the weather or they’re just not there? We went through the entire zoo and only saw the flamingos, meerkats and a pigmy monkey. I wish I hadn’t bothered going to see the zoo due to this as we spent an hour there and we could’ve gone on a lot more rides! If animals aren’t there during this time of year it would be nice to know via the website so I could’ve planned the day more accordingly. The rides in adventure cove close earlier than the rest of the park, so I missed on going on stormforcd and the wave again… maybe I’m greedy. This doesn’t effect my star rating although as I came for the rides, not the zoo :)

This was my 7 yr old daughters first visit to a proper theme park she absolutely loved it. I am not so keen on rollercoasters as I have gotten a bit older, however the roller coasters here, although fast at twisty, did not feel like they were trying to fling you out of the atmosphere. Very enjoyable rides, and my daughter is already itching to go back, and also eager to try something bigger and faster. The whole family enjoyed the small zoo which is there also. The Red Panda, Gibbons and Meerkats were the favourites.

Our family had the most wonderful stay-and-play experience at Drayton Manor Resort, and I can’t recommend it highly enough! My wife, our 5-year-old son, and I visited recently during their Halloween special, and it was a magical experience from start to finish. Everything — from the themed décor to the warm hospitality — made it one of the best family getaways we’ve ever had. The highlight of our trip was, without a doubt, the Thomas Land theme park. Our little boy is a huge Thomas the Tank Engine fan, and seeing his face light up when we entered was priceless. He absolutely loved riding on the Thomas-themed trains, meeting his favourite characters, and exploring all the fun rides designed especially for younger children. The park was beautifully decorated for Halloween with pumpkins, friendly ghosts, and cheerful seasonal music, creating a festive yet family-friendly atmosphere. Every corner had something new to discover, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making the experience enjoyable for both kids and parents. We also stayed overnight in one of the Thomas & Friends-themed rooms, and it was simply amazing. The attention to detail was outstanding — from the Thomas bedding and wall art to the little touches that made our son feel like he was sleeping in Sodor itself. He was so thrilled that he didn’t want to go to bed, and the next morning, he didn’t want to leave! In fact, he kept asking if we could stay “just one more night” so he could go back to Thomas Land again. The staff throughout the resort were friendly, helpful, and always smiling, which made the experience even better. The food options were great, and everything was clean, well-organized, and family-oriented. Overall, Drayton Manor Resort is a dream destination for families, especially those with young children. We created some truly special memories and can’t wait to visit again — maybe next time for Christmas or summer!

Wow, what a season, and it’s not over yet! Well done Drayton Manor for the friendliest welcome, be it customer services, ride staff, and catering staff. New entertainment, more atmosphere, and an incredible Halloween theming, and the light and firework show last night 😱. We have had a brilliant year and look forward to Christmas! Keep doing what you do - great value great family entertainment 🙏
Steven C — Google review
We had a wonderful day at Drayton Manor! The rides were fantastic, and we were pleasantly surprised by how many of the thrill rides our children were able to go on. The Halloween entertainment was excellent — our children especially loved the trick-or-treating experience. There was great entertainment and a fun atmosphere all around the park, with lively music adding to the Halloween spirit. The park itself was really quiet, so we were able to walk straight onto most rides, which was a huge bonus. All the staff were super friendly and really embraced the Halloween theme, which made the day even more enjoyable. We had lunch at Safari Pizza, and the family deal was great value for money. Later, we treated ourselves to Halloween milkshakes and a Halloween waffle while watching the water show — both were delicious and again, very reasonably priced. The water show was a lovely extra touch that we all really enjoyed. The zoo was another nice addition to the day, and it was lovely to see how well cared-for the animals looked. A few rides, like the rapids and the pirate ship, were closed, but honestly, we wouldn’t have had time to fit them in anyway — there was so much else to do! It’s a shame we don’t live closer, as we would definitely buy an annual pass. However, we’re already planning to return soon for the Christmas celebrations 😀 thanks !
Paige G — Google review
Loved the Halloween theme. The park was not very busy. We had fast passes but didn’t have to use them. It’s great that they allow you to use the fast passes at a later date.
Tim A — Google review
Drayton Manor is perfect for children up to about 13, or for teens who prefer medium size coasters. My pre teen enjoyed all the rides, it was the perfect fear level for her. There are 5 big rides, plenty of medium size rides and loadsss of little rides for toddlers. The theme was Halloween and the whole place was decorated lovely! We didn't get chance to visit the zoo, but we will definitely be back to do it all over again and make sure we save time for the zoo.
Kaytee S — Google review
I did the stay and play offer for myself and my son. We had a free room upgrade when we arrived which was lovely. Included in our stay were two days entry to the park, fast track passes for rides, free parking and breakfast. Friendly helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms. The park itself was tidy. Wait times for some rides were long, especially The Wave! Took ages for them to load the trains , giving half the train to fast track and half to regular waiting customers, just felt wrong considering how long we were waiting. Great for younger children with the Thomas land. My son is 17 and we still had an amazing time.

The Red Carpet Cinema & Café Bar is a luxurious venue with cozy theaters showcasing the latest films. It also features a café-bar serving continental cuisine. The establishment has an elegant ambiance and is impeccably clean. The service is prompt, the food is exceptional, and the staff members are friendly and accommodating. Additionally, it offers screenings of theater and ballet performances, making it an ideal choice for those interested in such events. Despite its small size, the cinema exudes charm and tranquility.
I recently visited this charming venue in Barton-under-Needwood and had an unforgettable evening. The cinema offered a cozy and intimate setting to watch a movie, enhancing the overall experience. After the film, I indulged in a delightful meal at their café bar. The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful, while the fish and chips were crispy and fresh, a true classic done right. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with excellent service that made the visit even more special. It’s a place I would highly recommend for anyone looking to combine great food with a relaxing cinematic experience. Whether for a casual night out or a special occasion, The Red Carpet Cinema & Café Bar is a hidden gem worth visiting.

Review of The Red Carpet Cinema Café Bar I had a lovely experience at The Red Carpet Cinema Café Bar. The atmosphere was warm, stylish, and welcoming—perfect for a relaxing outing. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole visit feel personal and enjoyable. The food was excellent—freshly prepared, well-presented, and full of flavour. Whether you’re popping in for lunch, a coffee, or a full meal before a film, the menu offers something for everyone. I especially appreciated the cosy setting, which adds a touch of charm that’s rare to find. Being able to enjoy a meal or drink in such a nice environment before heading into the cinema made the whole experience extra special. It’s a perfect spot for a treat, a date night, or a catch-up with friends. Highly recommended—I’ll definitely be returning

Red Carpet Cinema is an excellent venue for watching a film, eating a delicious meal and experiencing the delights of Barton Marina. The facility itself is decorated to feel like an authentic old-fashioned cinema, the seats are big and comfy and the screens are adequately sized. Food is fantastic and allergies / dietary requirements all catered for with ease. We had two delicious food courses each, a drink each and a cinema ticket each, for £75, which is good value for the excellent quality of food served! We regularly visit and enjoy ourselves every time. Thank you!
Chloe G — Google review
First time at the red carpet cinema and cafe. Staff were brilliant. Loved the film and had 2 course dinner and a bottle of wine after! Food was absolutely delicious, slight issue with the wrong order coming out, however was sorted very professionally and promptly, side order was forgotten but came eventually and was taken off the bill as a good will gesture without having to ask. Wonderful staff, and 10/10 for the food and wine. Will definitely visit again soon.
Jessica H — Google review
Another fantastic visit to the Red Carpet. We had food before the film and as always it was first class. Everything was cooked to perfection, the portion sizes are perfect and the food is amazing. The staff are all very attentive and polite and always go above and beyond to offer an outstanding service. The cinema always feels clean, the seats are lovely and comfy. We've got our next visit booked and we're looking forward to one of the lovely Red Carpet breakfasts. Keep up the amazing work. Thank you for a great cinema experience.
Sarah L — Google review
Our new favourite cinema! Comfy seats, good sound, friendly staff, a selection of food and drink, more film options than any of the big cinemas and so much cheaper!! Absolutely fab, we will be back time and time again…oh and what a gorgeous location too! Wonderful!
Sarah J — Google review
Great experience, would highly recommend! Easy to book, great film, comfy seats and service from all the staff is always wonderful. We did the food and film deal on this visit and it was so good, Darcy and Riley both looked after us and they were so helpful and friendly. All the timings are arranged when you book so you don’t have to worry about rushing from one to the other. The food was exceptionally good as well and can’t recommend a Sunday enough as we could have the roast dinner which was sublime. Come and experience it for yourself, you won’t regret it!

National Memorial Arboretum (Alrewas, Staffordshire)

Memorial park
Nature & Parks
The National Memorial Arboretum, located in Alrewas, Staffordshire, is a sprawling 150-acre site within the National Forest. It serves as the focal point for Remembrance in the UK and features over 330 military and civilian memorials set amidst lush parkland and woodland. Visitors can pay their respects to those who have served in the Armed Forces and civil services while strolling through this tranquil space.
The National Memorial Arboretum is a very interesting place to visit. It lies in quite a large area, so you may find that one visit is not enough. There really is so much to see! I have been several times, and any time of year is good. It is so different through the seasons, from Spring blossoms and Daffodils to Summer Poppies to Autumn colours. There are land trains, and guided talks etc which go into great detail to explain various exhibits. I found these quite fascinating! It is mainly on the flat, with decent paths all round. Wheelchair friendly too, as you can imagine it was built with Veterans in mind. Not just a Memorial to the armed forces, but to anyone involved doing their bit during conflicts, (Police, NHS, Coal Miners, Railwaymen etc) and also to victims of terrorism. There is a "Twin Towers" Memorial here. The wall at the main monument is quite a sobering sight. All the names of members of the armed forces who have lost their lives since World War 2. There's usually plenty of volunteers about who will happily answer any questions. Entry is free, but you must pay for parking. This is cheaper if you book online through the website. It is dog friendly, although dogs are restricted from certain areas (Main Monument and wall etc).
Rob C — Google review
We had an amazing day out at the arboretum. We had a mixed family group from 89year olds to 3 year olds and a dog. We had a fantastic day there, they strike the atmosphere perfectly with somber areas and moments but encourages the young people to learn and be fun and look at the wildlife around the arboretum. The dog was able to walk round all bar two places which were perfectly reasonable and there were bins and toilets everywhere needed. . The staff were nice, accessibility ♿ was at the forefront of the staffs mind with buggys to the top, toilets and ramps everywhere.
Callum J — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place to visit. Time for reflection and to honour those that gave their lives for us. Dog friendly and lots of paths around so that you can go at your own pace and visit the memorials that you want to see. There are over 400 memorials, set in landscaped woodland and gardens. Cafe and coffee shop at the visitor centre with lots of seating inside and outside. Staff were very friendly and helpful also there to help
Nicola L — Google review
A really beautiful and peaceful place. Many of the monuments are stunning, and really honour the memory of those people they represent. We paid a small amount extra for the land train tour. This allowed us to cover most of the site, albeit in not a huge amount of detail. The commentary onboard was very interesting and informative. I had no idea the main feature of the armed forces memorial has a solar feature built in which allows a shaft of light to illuminate a central plinth at 11am on November 11th each year. Would recommend it to anyone to visit and pay respects to those who fought for freedom. Money raised by car parking and tours goes to the British legion.
Martin ( — Google review
As an American visiting the UK, I had the privilege of spending a day at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, and I can honestly say it was one of the most moving and meaningful experiences of my trip. The grounds are absolutely stunning—beautifully landscaped, peaceful, and incredibly well-maintained. Every memorial tells a story, and the sheer scope of remembrance here is both humbling and inspiring. It honors not only members of the British Armed Forces, but also civilian services and international partners, which gave it a universal sense of respect and unity. What struck me most was the quiet dignity of the place. It's not just a collection of memorials; it's a living, breathing space where people come to reflect, honor, and remember. The staff and volunteers were welcoming and knowledgeable, and the visitor center provided helpful context for those unfamiliar with UK military history. The chapel service was simple yet powerful, and the entire visit left a lasting impression. Whether you have a personal connection to the armed services or simply wish to understand more about sacrifice and service, this is a place everyone should experience. A truly unforgettable visit. I’m grateful for the opportunity to pay my respects.
Angela S — Google review
What a beautiful place. Its so peaceful. The staff were very helpful when we tried to find certain monuments we specifically wanted to see. There were plenty of benches to sit on too scattered all about.
Zoe W — Google review
Lovely, clean, friendly and fully accessible grounds. Very touching and informative place to visit. Lovely cafeteria. Children's playground. We attended armed forces day and were provided with a day long entertainment provided by members of the armed forces. Scooter and wheelchair hire available, plenty of disabled parking which may be pre booked.
Sue T — Google review
Decided on Bank Holiday to visit this place, as had a free day and wanted to learn more about British History. This place is incredible. So much to discover about Armed Forces. So much history and theres insane amount of memorials and statues. Absolutely fascinating. Parking was not a problem even on a busy day. Organised. Entry is free - you pay £8 for parking all day though. Which is fair enough in my opinion as you will spend at least 3 hours minimum. Thats if you just walk and rush pass everything. Full day if you want to see and read. Theres lots of trails to walk, and you are constantly around the trees, ponds etc. Really lovely place. You also have museum inside. Cafe. Shop. Toilets. All the things you need. So, if you want to get them steps in, learn about armed forces history, be surrounded by beautiful nature-this place is for you!

Nature & Parks
Sutton Park is a sprawling 2000-acre parkland featuring bike and bridle paths, as well as serene lakes, making it an ideal destination for walking, jogging, cycling, and angling. With a rich history dating back to the medieval era when it was under royal ownership and used as a deer park by Norman kings, Sutton Park offers not only natural beauty but also historical significance.
Went for a 5 K jog on the recommendation of local friends. Wonderful place in the sun. Mostly tarmac paths with some gravel ones. Watch out for the cows. I have heard that there are ponies as well. Parking is free at the moment. However, where I parked, I needed to be aware of potholes in the parking areas. One nasty one on the narrow entrance road. But don't let that put you off. Get there and enjoy it in the sun.
Craig T — Google review
It’s a really beautiful park. Honestly, anyone who visits and gets a chance to try the grilled calamari here will find it worth it. The atmosphere is incredible, and it’s also right by the lake, which adds to the charm. It’s a very scenic spot. There’s a restaurant nearby in case anyone gets hungry, and overall, the park is huge. Behind it, there’s also a forest — as you can probably tell from the photo — where you might feel like you could get lost, but in reality, it’s easy to find your way back. The landscape is stunning and perfect for anyone who’s craving a bit of adventure. If I had to point out something negative, it would be because of animals like cows and others roaming around, which means there’s quite a lot of droppings scattered around. I think it needs to be cleaned more regularly so the park can reach its full potential. Even so, if you live nearby, it’s a great place to visit every weekend, especially since options are limited. In general, it just needs a bit of cleaning — maybe during the week. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit
Giorgos K — Google review
It's a very extensive park. The park is huge and there's a chance you can definitely get lost if you go off the main paths, but there is some signage. Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful park and great for exploring and getting in touch with nature. There was some decent foliage, but I found most off the beaten paths. Managed to capture a few photos on my visit.

The best and highlight of my trip to Birmingham! The park is so beautiful and peaceful, it has plenty of entrances, has cows grazing and has a few cafe and restaurants in the park itself.

You forget you're in a city when yourein this park. It has a little bit of something for everyone. Lakes, streams, rugged ground, paved walked, cafe, bar, semi-feral free-roaming horses, playground for kids. Shame theyve removed the carvery, which was perfect for after a long Sunday walk. Large enough to get a bit lost. Small enough to find your way out eventually.
Ru D — Google review
So much to see here, you can take a different direction and take in all the new sights. Plus there is kids parks, ice cream vans and plenty of parking around ❤️

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Nestled in the picturesque hills near Matlock Bath, Gulliver's Kingdom is a delightful theme park designed specifically for families with children aged 2 to 13. This vibrant destination offers an array of over 60 rides and attractions that cater to young adventurers seeking excitement. From thrilling log flumes and roller coasters to engaging dinosaur trails, there's something for every little explorer. The park features dedicated zones like Toyland for toddlers and pirate-themed areas for older kids, ensuring everyone has a blast.
A brilliant family day out. Free parking is available and just a short wait for the gates to open. There is something to do for all ages here, visited with two children ages 12 and 15 and enjoyed by both. This park is great for those who don't like massive rollacoasters or queuing for hours to get on a ride. The queues were all short, or we were straight on. The climbing wall and the rope swing were the only two attractions that had a bigger queue or wait time. Various food and drink outlets dotted around. We chose to have a pizza, which was nicely done. Old classics like the log flume, river rapids, pirate ship and high wire seats were enjoyed by all. Photos for the log flume are reasonable prices, the pottery craft painting was only £5, and there is a gift shop at the exit to buy a keepsake or gift. Whether you've got a little one or older one there's definitely something for everyone. £65 family ticket offer for a family of 5 was great value for the amount of things to do. We would visit again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 A great place for kids and families to enjoy a day out. Most of the rides are short and mainly designed for children, but the overall atmosphere is fun. The roadside views on the way here are amazing, though the uphill journey makes pushing baby strollers a bit challenging. Best to arrive early to make the most of all the rides. A few extras, like having to pay £1 for a park map, didn’t feel like the best first impression. Still, overall, it’s a lovely family-friendly destination with plenty for kids to enjoy.
M A — Google review
We enjoyed it today. Positives - booked online and took advantage of a 'secret deal'. Perfect for younger kids. No rides really too extreme and we got on almost everything. The tree top drop ride and the lost world raft ride were both really good fun. Got on the log flume three times, which we loved. Most of the staff were pleasant enough. The ski lift team were really nice and made an effort to welcome you on. Parking was fine although via a very steep, windy drive up and with cars queing to get parked you could smell clutches burning everywhere 😂 but there was an entrance into the park near the top for those parking which was decent. Negatives - Not much really. We waited in line for my little girl to go on the rock climb wall, behind a small group of girls, and we were the very next in line (and the only ones left in the queue) and they shut it because they 'only run one or the other' The other being a little toddler activity course in the same spot. When we queued both were in action. They could have let her have a go, bit annoying. Some of the attractions are a bit of a let down, the ghost house for example, and the dragons lair are a few mins each that you won't get back. Pointless walkarounds with nothing in them. Those aside, overall a decent day out and fairly priced, and I'm sure we'll probably go back before she gets too big for most of the rides. Point to note: if your not good at walking up and down steep hills, this place isn't for you. It's literally built on a hillside. You have the ski lifts which will take you up and down but expect a fair wait for one. For us, we did both and were fine with the gradients.
Phill — Google review
Great for the kids and the landscape is beautiful. The guys and gals working there were all polite and ready to help in anyway they can. Just a little mention to disabled people come fully prepared as it really is hard graft getting around because of the steep landscape.
Smileyanz — Google review
Great day out for the younger kids, we really enjoyed the rides. The wait times weren't as bad as the bigger parks. Food wasn't overly priced and good portions. The hills there could be an issue for those with mobility issues or walking with bulky buggies/prams.
Neil H — Google review
We had such an amazing time here, I was really impressed! We arrived at 12 and it closed at 5 and that was just enough time! We got on everything quickly and managed to do my daughter's favourite rides quite a few times! It's set amongst beautiful scenery, my 4 year old could go on nearly everything, and the car park is free!
Sarah H — Google review
Much better place than I thought. Adults can have fun with the kids too. Kids absolutely loved it. Area is beautiful too. Parking wise you need to get there early to find place at the bottom. I think it is better to start your journey in Gulliver's Kingdom from the bottom entry.
Dalma D — Google review
Great experience and built into the hillside so really unique place to explore with the cable car to take you from top to bottom. Lots to do and food on site. Some longer queues after lunch with people coming in for afternoon only. Some extras to pay for but we chose not to, as seemed a lot extra for some of the items. Rides great and staff helpful and kind.

Nature & Parks
The Sheffield Botanical Gardens, located in South Yorkshire, England, cover nearly 20 acres and are designated as an English Heritage Grade II site. The gardens boast Victorian pavilions, themed areas with plants from around the world, large lawns, woodland spaces, and vibrant floral displays. Visitors can explore well-maintained landscaped gardens featuring tropical plants and colorful blooms throughout the year. The venue also hosts events like Music in the Gardens to support various charities.
This park and botanical garden is an absolute gem in the city! It's such a cute spot, and absolutely lovely to walk around. I was amazed to see so many people running throughout the park, no matter if it was sunny or raining. It's clear this place is a beloved escape for many.
Eye N — Google review
Firstly, this is a free to enter venue. The botanical gardens are a beautiful piece of serenity within a large city. The gardens are stunning and laid out in a way that enables one to amble around relaxing. There are many varied areas with lots of different themes, all utterly gorgeous. We saw lots of squirrels that are so tame they can be hand fed. We also stopped at the café for a very welcome cup of tea. The gardens are definitely worth a visit.
Grant L — Google review
Great place to visit and free too. We were pleasantly surprised, its really is a hidden gem. The Glass House is full of interesting plants and the gardens are really well maintained. The squirrels were very friendly and entertaining.
D W — Google review
The botanical garden is beautiful in autumn, with trees in many shades creating lovely layers of colour. We went in the morning, and the squirrels were very active. Several even came close looking for food, which was really cute.
Issac — Google review
It is a wonderful garden and I am not just saying that because I live close by and I love Sheffield's parks and gardens in general. It has a great variety of plants and species. Has a great cafe. There are often event run at this site too. There are two plant sales that happen in a year, one in spring and one in autumn.
Ishita C — Google review
A great place to get away from it all. Some lovely walks around the gardens, loads of plants and trees (looks lovely). Most plants and trees have labels to help you identify them. There are plenty of seats in all parts of the gardens, some are in lovely quiet places. Spent ages just looking at the plants and listening to the wildlife. There is a cafe and toilets. When I visited the indoor part of the gardens were closed for maintenance. It is free to enter!
Paul “ — Google review
Surprisingly nice and well kept gardens even in winter! Great for a stroll through nature and an escape from the city. Keep an eye out for the fat squirrels.
Harry H — Google review
A wonderful place to relax with family and alone. It's a beautiful view of different corners. There are a large number of different varieties of magnolia here, about 30 species, so it is worth returning here at the end of May. There is also an alley with roses, both old and new varieties. There is a greenhouse with a great number of plants, especially cool cacti, aloe which was planted in 2003 and looks like a tree, there are also banana trees. Admission is free here, but you can make a donation online. Also on the territory there are many interesting tablets with the history of the garden, which will be especially relevant for children in the study of biology and nature in general. There's a café and a parking lot.

Love it!!!! My autistic daughter has the confidence to leave my sight!!!!! It's relaxed it's fun love seeing the riders. She watched for an hour just the busy pit area. Great racing and friendly staff. Absolutely love the speedway on Monday and Thursday night. The food is also very reasonably priced compared to all other speedway local tracks

Like the previous review this was a new experience for us, but was above and beyond what we expected. We were in a VIP box which was lovely. The food was phenomenal and fantastic value for money. The lady who served us was so lovely and the bookie did a great job sorting out the betting. If you want a fun night out we would highly recommend. Oh and all food allergies were catered for superbly.
Sarah W — Google review
Well this was a totally new experience !! But a hen/stag invitation couldn't be turned down so ....and a great night had by all. Superb meal - absolutely superb. Great waiter service, with friendly staff throughout. Our 'box' was modern, clean, great views of the track, with decorated tables. I've never been sure about dog racing - but a great deal of attention went to reassuring folk that the dogs would be returning to air conditioned kennels etc - hopefully this is the reality. Parking on site, all hood facilities, photos inc of our hen/stag after races named after them. All very very positive.

Fantastic Sunday lunch experience. The restaurant is very well run and slick service. Food was beautifully cooked and to say we had a table of 23 , all the food came out piping hot and together. With the added racing and at the table betting this was a great day all round.

Had my 60th birthday celebrations here. Booked a vip room. Absolutely brilliant!! Food amazing...any intolerances/ vegetarian etc provided for brilliantly. Staff very helpful when booking & again on the night with drinks & betting. Exceeded my expectations. Definitely recommend! Hope to visit again sometime! Thank you for a lovely experience!
Julia S — Google review
If you can bag yourself an offer, a Birthday meal offer etc then this is a great place to visit for a night out and I'd recommend eating in the restaurant. The food is fabulous and great value, even without a deal to be fair. It has a great atmosphere and there's even a singer on after racing has finished, on a weekend. Highly recommended evening out.

Spent 2 hours to drive here. Easy to follow map. Meals we had were served beautifully. Very tasty. Relaxed atmosphere to place bets. Staff were incredibly good. They held dinner while we went down to take the car off charge. Couldn't have been nicer. Great day all round.

We had the VIP box at the dogs on a Saturday and the service was second to none. The food was served and tasted great highly recommend the steak and ale pie. Betting on each race was very easy as they come to the box to take your bets a special mention to Emily who did a great job. It’s a good evening of entertainment and well worth a visit.

Chatsworth House is a grand stately home located near Bakewell in the Peak District. It offers visitors the chance to explore its lavishly decorated corridors and learn about its rich history. The estate also features a playground, farmyard, and lush grounds perfect for romantic walks or even bringing along your furry friend.
I cannot speak highly enough about this place, it is just "wow" from start to finish. Parking was easy, even on a busy Saturday, the house is awesome, from the gilt Versailles like gates, every room is jaw dropping, completely over the top, lavish decor, painted frescoes on the ceilings and walls, beautiful ornate plasterwork, carved wall panels, leather embellished walls, fabulous chandeliers, gorgeous paintings and a ton of really beautiful pieces of art, ceramics and statues. The staff are super helpful and friendly, I recommend the audio guide, it is very informative. There is a lovely gift shop selling high quality gifts, including Chatsworth's jams, chutney, drinks and house related gifts. Outside the grounds don't disappoint, there are huge greenhouses and plants to see and buy. There is the famous fountain and lake featured in Pride and Prejudice, a massive rockery garden, made from massive stacked granite slabs, I've never seen anything like it. There is a giant hedge maze and beautiful views from wherever you are in the grounds. I believe there is a children's play area and farmyard, but I didn't visit there as I was too tired after all the walking. The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the sandwich I got from the deli van, it was quite expensive and the bread was really thick and overwhelmed the filling. Ice cream and sandwiches cost around £7+. There is a restaurant there but I can't comment on that as I didn't use it. There are plenty of well maintained public toilets but not inside the house. Standard Adult entry is £32, including parking, which is on the high side, but in my opinion it is worth it.

Went to Chatsworth for the Christmas markets, light trail and to see the house wonderfully decorated for Christmas. Really enjoyed the decorations in the house, which was a nature theme this year, bringing the outside in. The grandeur of the house is magnificent, with a great history, you can wander round at your own leisure. There are guides in every room who are friendly and very approachable ready to answer any questions you may have. There are lots of places to eat and drink and some nice gift shops, plenty of toilets and amenities for baby changing and people with disabilities. The grounds are extensive and well kept, I particularly liked the rock garden, which looked lovely lit up. The market is very good, with all the usual Christmas stalls, selling gifts and food/wine/ gin tasting, most off the stalls I did notice were card only, I did draw some cash out and ended up spending it in the gift shops. The ground the stalls are on is all got a ground cover on so not muddy. There is plenty of seating areas for when you grab a coffee or burger etc.

We enjoy visiting Chatsworth House. This time an art exhibition was on display, which changed the experience in a positive way. We don’t always get to see the animals, but we were able to this time around. The weather was great. The staff were helpful. We had a poke around the shops. A lovely day out. I would recommend to anyone, especially if you haven’t been before
Jared W — Google review
Visited Chatsworth Christmas on the 23rd November. It was truly a lovely day. The Christmas market is excellent, very different from your average UK Christmas market. The quality of food, drink and products on offer was brilliant. Definitely visit the Scone hut, they are truly to die for. Chatsworth House Christmas display is outstanding and walking the garden just adds that extra dimension to a great day. Add in the gift shops and the overall atmosphere and you will not be disappointed. If you are local in Derbyshire then do one thing, go to Chatsworth, its a no brainer.
Eddie L — Google review
The Chatsworth Christmas ticket gives you access to the House, unlimited entry to the gardens for one day, and you can also access the Christmas market (which is free). It’s a lovely day out and well worth the ticket price. Be warned, food and drink inside is very pricey (but what do you expect?). I’d recommend the Stables for something lovely and warm that doesn’t break the bank.

Fabulous visit to chatsworth house & Christmas Market. Lovely stalls to look round. You will love the house with all the Christmas trees and the wonderful decorations. The walk round the gardens were just wonderful too. So worth a visit at this time of year.

An absolutely magical, Christmas experience! The house itself is mind blowing and each room makes you gasp with how much detail and care has gone into each and every decoration. It was laid out perfectly and even had sounds and scents through each experience. The gardens were beautiful to walk through and the Christmas markets were spectacular 😍 There was something for everyone to enjoy there! I cant wait to come back again next year 🎄✨️🎁

Bought tickets well in advance to visit the house and also the Christmas markets. My family enjoyed visiting the house, it's very easy to get around there are a few staircases which you need to navigate. As the visit is in preparation for Christmas there are lots of Christmas trees beautifully presented throughout and the staff are very helpful and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas markets; having been to lots of busy public access Christmas markets like Manchester, Liverpool, York etc it was a fantastic relaxing experience to be able to walk around freely and visit the different vendors. Will certainly look at returning.

My 2 year old was exhilarated, entertainment was excellent and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Rooms are excellent and brilliantly set up. Some of the adults leaving reviews need to remember it’s a kids hotel and not for them. The food is good and not that expensive as some have said, you’d not pay much less in spoons. Some people will moan about anything, it’s for your kids not you, and your kids will love it.
Glenn W — Google review
After reading some reviews I wasn't looking forward to staying...so glad we did. My child loved it! The staff are absolutely brilliant, the meet and greet of the characters is such a beautiful idea, the rooms were clean, my child was very very happy and therefore so am I 😊 already planning our return!
Jennifer S — Google review
Stayed for four nights. The room we stayed in was dusty in places, either not fully cleaned, or the room isn't occupied that much. The front of house staff were outstanding, all very engaging with the kids. The entertainment staff were brilliant with all the kids. The windmill restaurant is great for breakfast, but dinner wasn't that great, nor the service. The price rivals the secret garden which is much better. There isn't an option for food around lunchtime if staying around the hotel, which is a little bit of a pain if you're not in the park, or plan on leaving the site. Overall, the days out to the theme park and the water park out way the negatives. Highly recommend young families to attend.

Wow what a great experience,,, we absolutely loved it and my 3 year old daughter was gobbed smacked. Very clean hotel , Rooms are nicely decorated and also very clean . Excellent and caring staff . Breakfast was on point with a huge selection !!

Our stay at CBeebies Land Hotel was perfect. Easy to park, lovely staff, got our keys to the room quickly. We booked an ‘In the Night Garden’ themed room and our daughter loved it. She was pointing at the characters on the walls, she enjoyed playing with the interactive section in her part of the room. The room was spotless and had everything you need (travel cot, bottle warmer, baby bath if needed, plenty of pillows etc). We were amazed by the amount of entertainment available. A big thank you to the staff who run the shows for the children. It was our daughter’s favourite part and she danced for hours! There are lots of reviews complaining about the food, but we didn’t see any issue. It’s catered for kids and we knew that when we were coming. The food was nice and they sang happy birthday for our daughter. Breakfast had plenty of selection and was lovely. Again, the staff were attentive and helpful. We also ordered some pizza in the evening to the entertainment area, although it was expensive, we enjoyed it and it was convenient. Everything is designed for toddlers- lots of play areas, characters to meet and shows to go to. One thing we missed was meeting Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy. It would have been good to know these were coming out as that’s our daughter’s favourite, but it didn’t affect the day (my husband stumbled into them in the lobby but they were leaving). We would highly recommend! Thank you to all the staff at CBeebies Hotel.
Kristina W — Google review
We have just been and stayed at the Cbeebies Land Hotel for our little boy's 3rd birthday and I must say it was fantastic, so magical for our little boy. Entertainment was 10/10 for the kids. Hotel room was 9/10 could do with a little refresh but it was clean that's the main thing. Every staff member was so helpful and great with our little boy. Only thing that has made me say 4 stars, is the choice of food for adults in the Windmill resturant. It was £20 for a small portion of food, baring in mind there wasn't much choice. It was weird food choices and I can't imagine many adults would be happy with the choice. You would expect the basic pub food choices at a minimum but there was nothing like that. Me and my husband had to just chose something so we had eaten but we barely touched our food, it was awful. Which is such a shame because everything else was fantastic! I wouldn't let the food put you off as the hotel is absolutely brilliant and my little boy loved every minute of his stay! Just a shame me and my husband struggled on an evening for food choices.
Emma G — Google review
Thank you so much for an amazing 2 night stay in one of your Bugbies rooms. The room was just like the pictures on the website! We have two children (ages 5 and 2) who were in utter awe when we arrived. The reception area is very engaging with plenty of fun buttons to press. The lift was exciting with the lights and music. The room itself was great, it had everything you'd need travelling with a young family. Bottle warmer, baby bath, toddler toilet seats and stools, the ironing board was bolted so it couldn't accidentally fall over... the attention to detail was really good. The entertainment was non-stop from early afternoon through to late evening, perfect for our boys who loved every show that was put on! The Octonauts show was a particular favourite for our 5 year old who is obsessed right now! The only slight criticism I would have would be around breakfast. We had issues having to wait for food to be replenished on both mornings, but it wasn't a huge issue and we didn't mind waiting a few minutes. The food wasn't amazing, but for breakfast it did the trick. We didn't eat in the hotel for dinner so can't comment on that. We went off site after reading other reviews about the quality of food. Shout out to the older gentleman who was manning the doors - he was a real gem. He seems genuinely passionate about his job and always had a smile on his face. When he heard we were going to the park on our final morning, he gave us an express parking pass so we could park closer :) We can't wait to come back!
Andrea M — Google review
Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and well trained. Our bathroom was a little rough round the edges, but nothing to complain about. Whilst the food in the restaurant was OK, it was very expensive for what it was. The kids shows in the evening were great for our daughter and she seemed to enjoy them. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.

Amazing time in amazing place 😀 We spend few days in the Alton Towers Hotel resort and water park, my daughter likes it very much and she gives you 5 stars…there are almost no people, peace and quiet, no queues, they let us stay in the water park all day without any limits, normally when there are a lot of people, you stay for 2.5 hours.. For me the most important thing was cleanliness, the room we had was clean, changing rooms in the water park were clean, bathrooms were clean, everywhere was nicely maintained, we ate in a clean nice secret garden restaurant, customer service was very good and friendly… In the bar in the water park you can choose from jack potatoes, nachos, hot dogs, ice creams and drinks… I would also like to big thank to young beautiful girls with great voices who showed tricks to my daughter were great!! 😊

I enjoy all the fun slides. The changing room is clean. You get a cheaper price when you book in advance. The downside is a lack of signage of where the water park car park is located and one of the claw machines is faulty.
Jennifer H — Google review
A really nice and atmospheric water park, with plenty of theming. The water was warm and clean. The staff were polite, even though it was busy, they still had time for everyone. The only problem was the amount of time we spent quing to get an inflatable for the slides. It was also a cramped waiting area for the inflatables. But apart from that, we had a really nice day out.
Lucy K — Google review
We enjoyed it. Fun place to take the kids and we will comeback. The toilets however were dirty I attribute too it being very busy. Also it took a while to find a parking spot at least 20 minutes so I suggest arriving at least half an hour before your booking.
Andreia A — Google review
Was quite anxious as my 7 and 10 yo went off in different direction. Staff friendly and had the use of AI life guarding, continually scanning swimmers and those in trouble. Rides where great, queues manageable, pools warm , food was a bit pricey. Parking free.
Si L — Google review
Never been here before so took the grand children who had a wil of a time. Recommend fast track if you can afford it as there are long waits og up to 2hrs on some rides.
Desmond B — Google review
Pretty average water park. Firstly, there is only one big slide (master blaster) which I waited about 70 mins for. There are also lots of reliability issues with the slide and almost every time I get in the queue for this slide it end up stopping for 10 mins. The changing rooms and even parts of the water park smelt terribly of urine and a lot of the changing rooms are dirty. Also the lockers require 20p so keep that in mind. There are also some flumes outside which have a short queue for each one but are really fun. I also enjoyed the smaller ring slide which I only waited 5 mins for. It seems everyone just goes to the master blaster leaving the rest of slides with barely any queue. The water park is quite crowded and areas like the lazy river and pool get really busy. If you really like water parks then I suppose it’s worth a visit but if you aren’t that bothered then I’d give it a miss.

It all started with Doug in reception who was polite, helpful and welcoming and it just got better after that. The 20 Pence man was fabulous and then all the staff poolside were great. The pool was warm, exciting and really fun. My 6 year old loved it. We will definitely be coming back. Well done Alton Towers.

What a beautiful theatre. Visited from gloucestershire, and navigating roads to get to the area was time consuming, but once we go there, parking was relatively easy to find, the area was full of bars, pubs and other amenities allowing us to relax and then attend the show. The theatre is beautiful, staff helpful and friendly, and toilets clean and spacious.

Nice theatre, smaller than expected but view of the stage was excellent. Small bar area serving drinks, crisps and chocolate. Sound system brilliant or should I say sound engineers were brilliant!
Mandy B — Google review
The theatre itself is lovely, in a good central location with a Wetherspoons directly opposite for a quick bite to eat before watching a show. Be wary however of parking at the NCP - £12 for 4hrs is steep by anyone's standard. The price you pay for trying to limit being out in the almost biblical rain we have had recently 😒

Lovely theatre, yes it's old so the chairs aren't the most comfiest but it actually didn't matter too much and it has the traditional decor which gives it a bit of charm. The staff are lovely and the prices aren't heart stopping. Had a great time there.

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Alton Towers is a popular adventure park in Britain, known for its thrilling roller coasters and attractions suitable for younger kids, such as CBeebies Land. The park is set in the picturesque Staffordshire countryside and features well-maintained grounds surrounding a beautiful Gothic Revival house. In addition to the rides, visitors can enjoy entertaining shows and make use of the attached indoor water park.
Just spent three days here with my two (13 and 10) on their first visit (and my first for 25+ years!). The theming, cleanliness and organisation of the park was excellent. The layout is big so be prepared for lots of walking! The skyride helps, as does the monorail from the car parks, otherwise that's a good 20 minute walk to the park entrance. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. Big shout out to Jack, who helped us find our car on the first night when we lost our bearings! The queues are really well managed, all the food was tasty (chicken tikka wrap from opposite Rita highly recommended and the rollercoaster restaurant near Galactica an excellent experience). Don't miss the cute little aquarium near Wicker Man. The water park was great fun too, the slides to outside a big hit and the coaster slide brilliant - worth the wait for sure. The free scare mazes were very good and even the souvenir prices reasonable. The gardens are also brilliantly kept and look great with the autumn colours. Only a few criticisms; lack of hooks on the back of toilet doors for hanging your bag and only cold water to wash your hands in most facilities. Also, the arcades needs some attention (a few had faults/blocked sections and the low end token prizes were limited and too highly priced).

I'll start with the car park. It's decent size and well maintained. I completely do not agree with flat rate you have to pay on top of the entry tickets. Regardless if you are there for just couple of hours, half a day or full day, still have to fork out another £12. Park itself is spread out across vast space. There's lots and lots of walking. Rides are decent. Other attractions are good as well. For us it worked out quite expensive as we've come with a child under 2 years old mainly to visit CeBeebies Land. I've managed to pop on some rides when he had a power nap. Overall we've enjoyed our time in there and definitely rate it higher than any other UK theme park. Problem is, once you've been to Universal Orlando and other Florida parks you gonna find all rides in any UK park not as thrilling and stunning as what they have in there. We've found all staff to be friendly, helpful and polite. Cleanliness throughout the park was decent including rest rooms. We've even found a nice kebab takeaway on site which was a plus.

We’ve been to Alton Towers three times now, and it never disappoints! Whether you’re a family, a couple, or a solo rollercoaster thrill seeker, there’s something here for everyone. With a little help from Cadbury’s (who will you take vouchers — are a huge help! As it can be a little pricey) we were able to enjoy another amazing trip. The whole park is lovely and clean, and all the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. If you’re planning a visit, just be aware that during peak times the queues can get quite long for the rides. We went out of peak this time, and it was incredibly quiet — barely any waiting at all, which made the day even better! Just a heads up also food in the park is very pricey if you don't want to take food with you, but as a one off it's ok. like us going three times we learnt to take sandwiches and snacks and bought a coca cola refillable drinks beaker we take everytime. We noticed families taking the travel trucks with their bits and bobs into carry around for the day of there is a large amount of you who which is a brilliant family hack. Some of the food wasn't that spectacular and very cheaply made as you would get in most big theme parks but some little hidden gems in the park were lovely like the coach house confectionary in gloomy woods serving up there social media viral black ice creams and sweet foods. Overall, Alton Towers is an amazing day out full of excitement, laughs, and memories. Can’t wait to go back again!

Great visit everytime. The food stalls are expensive but if you can take some food to save yourself some money. Definitely recommend visiting during scarefest even if you dont do any of the scare mazes. Staff are brilliant they keeps things moving quickly so the ride times stay as low as possible and the park stay open 9pm meaning you can get to go on the rides in the dark. Which is well worth it!

Honestly hands down best theme park in the UK. The theming is immense and absolutely mind-blowing. Has the best rollercoasters in the UK and the best inverted coaster in Europe. The food is amazing Sand is worth it, especially the loaded fries on Tower Street. The Smiler is one of the most intense rides out there and is definitely a coaster worth going on, even if you are far away from the park it is definitely worth a visit. Loads of kids areas to adventure but some big areas for the thrill seekers. My favourite coasters in order: 1. Nemesis Reborn (Got on it 2 times in 1 day and got front row) 2. Smiler (Can be rough sometimes but is so thrilling) 3. Galactica (Really underrated and immense fun) 4. Wickerman (Best wooden coaster in the UK bc of Megafobia) 5. Oblivion (Short and boring after the drop) 6. Rita (The launch into the turn is amazing and forceful) 7. THI3TEEN (The droptrack's airtime is absolutely stunning) 8. Spinball Whizzer (Quite painful and colours don't suit Alton) Haven't been on: Octonauts Rollercoaster Adventure, Runaway Minetrain. Honourable mentions: Toxicator (Best flat ride in the UK coming in close with Samurai. Sharkbait reef (I love fish and this was cool for a Theme Park) Hex (I love the story and the ride is quite unique) Congo River Rapids (Great family ride) So overall the price is worth paying and the food is worth eating. You should go to Alton Towers if you are wanting thrill and you can also go if you need a family day out with the kids. (Scarefest at Alton Towers is the best Halloween event at a major theme park throughout the whole of the UK and the vibe of the park already fits a Halloween vibe)

Some really amazing staff that still stayed kind, and funny, even when some other guests were being rude. The staff are always what makes the day for me at any attraction, and because of how nice everyone was I had a lot of fun. All of the staff were really friendly, and we went on a great day so we got to do most of the rides numerous times. We did get stuck on nemesis reborn due to a security issue, however the staff were polite and tried to get it over quickly, I would of loved to go on it another time but it was in a awkward place comparatively to other coasters and quite a steep walk! The staff at thirteen let us stay on the ride and go again just as Alton towers was about to close which was also great fun :) we got to go on Thirteen 4 times, Rita 3 times, Wickerman 2 times, Nemesis reborn 2 times, Spinball Whizzer 2 times and Runaway minetrain 2 times. In terms of theming my favourite was Wickerman by far, it was an overall very unique experience and very stylised. In terms of the ride, Nemesis reborn was my favourite, it was very smooth and it was set up on some really cool terrain, followed by obviously Wickerman and Thirteen due to how fun the theming was, when I went on the first time I had no idea what to expect and the drops caught me off guard. Rita somehow felt different everytime I went on the coaster, it’s definitely rougher towards the back, but it’s great fun and very quick so you can hop on multiple times. Spinball whizzer was also surprisingly a great ride that you can quickly get on many times as well, I wish I had done it more! The only disappointment was Nemesis Subterra, I had no idea what it was nor what to expect, people around me were telling me it was gonna have a huge drop and spin, and turns out hardly anything happened and it is mostly a visual experience. This wouldn’t necessarily been so disappointing if it wasn’t the longest queue and waittime in the whole park, and when we were on it they were unfortunately having technical difficulties with the restraints so we were sat there for like 10 minutes. :c I wouldn’t bother with this ride again even though the theming was cool, I feel like similar to Wickerman it would of been better not as a unique ride but as a presentation before you go on Nemesis Reborn and I’d rather spend my time on other rides. I ended up going another two times before the park closed for winter, so in total I got about 12 rides on nemesis, 10 rides on Rita, 6 rides on galatica, 4 rides of the smiler and 2 on oblivion 🥺 after riding them all I can confidently tell you that Rita is “worse” than smiler, it’s rougher and the back row on Rita is so much scarier than any row on smiler. I feel like I have conquered my fear of rollercoasters!!! Anyone else who thinks they can’t do it, you can! I believe in you 😤 Galatica became my favourite ride, just because of how unique it feels.

Had a fantastic time at Alton Towers! I would recommend buying the Fast Pass for the day to help with queue times, visited mid October and it may have been due to Scarefest but queue times were approaching 2 hours on several rides so we opted to buy the Fast Pass for the following day and didn't wait more than 20 minutes for a ride, a couple we walked up and got straight on! The coasters are smooth and clearly well maintained so no rough rides or sore backs the next day. Staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Parking was easy and well organised. Had a great time and looking forward to going back one day!
Nick R — Google review
It’s a fun place to go. You can get a train there from the parking lot (or I mean close) or walk 20 minutes. You can stay for a long time, can’t remember when it closes but it might be around 9pm. I went on scarefest and the attractions were amazing. Smiler is great and apparently it’s becoming VR only in 2026 so if that’s real you want to get on that fast! The other attractions are fun including Wickerman. Usually I don’t know why but I feel like they get gradually faster after every time the carts go around. The scare fest attractions were great too!

Shugborough Hall, located in Milford near Stafford, is a historic working estate under the care of the National Trust. The property offers plenty to do, including a 15-minute walk from the car park to the main house. Visitors can explore the well-maintained gardens, children's play area, and farm area before reaching the picturesque mansion. Additionally, there are opportunities for scenic walks through the extensive grounds that extend down to Essex Bridge and along the canal to Great Haywood cliffs.
A wonderful afternoon out at Shugborough Hall, so much to see and do. As it’s the summer holidays they had more fun and games for children too! Plenty of parking and the usual National Trust facilities including a cafe. The house is interesting to look round, with the downstairs telling the story of George and Thomas Anson, while the upstairs houses the preserved apartment of the Patrick Lichfield the famous royal photographer. The gardens and grounds are big enough to keep you busy for a few hours and the flower gardens at amazing.

Shugborough Hall is a place well worth a visit. It is a National Trust site located in a large estate in rural Staffordshire. There is plenty to see and do for Adults and children alike. On a nice day there are some very pleasant walks that you can do, as well as visit the house. There is a gift shop, toilets and tea room/restaurant close by. The Hall and all of its history is quite fascinating. As I like my photography I loved seeing some of Lord Lichfield's cameras and equipment, as well as the many photographs mounted on the walls. Some are of famous faces that you will recognise, and some of the Royal Family over various years. There are also events put on throughout the year. I have visited twice in December to see the spectacular display of Christmas Trees. They differ every year, and sometimes follow a theme. They also put on a light show display in December. I haven't seen this yet, but do plan on it this year. I have heard it is very impressive.

Wonderful national trust free entry day. Blessed with fine sunshine. Greeted by 2 very helpful members who explained the map. Added onto planned guided visit to new garden at 2pm. This proved really good with the gardener being very interesting. Volunteers in house brilliant, informative and friendly despite impromptu fire alarm, they were unflappable. Beautiful grounds, gardens and all with our rescue dog Maddie. (She stayed in the car whilst we went inside house). Just had such a lovely relaxing day. Thank you 😊

Lovely day out at Shugborough - the staff are 10/10 and gave brilliant service. The gentleman and lady upstairs in Patrick Lichfield’s apartments on Saturday were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable and great help. The girl working the ice cream counter near the mansion tea room (but not inside the tea room) was amazing, really helped us with our intolerance while ordering an ice cream, super friendly to all customers in front of us and gave exceptional service to us with our celiac dietary needs. It’s a shame a lot of Shugborough has shut since the national trust took ownership, but still has lovely grounds on a sunny day.

Shugborough is simply beautiful whether you're visiting the house or just walking the grounds. Me and my fiance visit often as we just love walking our dog through the grounds and picking up a coffee at the tea room. Very friendly staff upon entry, plenty of info boards explaining future plans, the house is gorgeous inside and out with lots to see. Staff and volunteers are very knowledgeable with the history of the the house. It's just a fab place to visit.

First visit today and what a fantastic place! We decided to join as family members and it was well worth it. The grounds, gardens and mansion are all beautifully kept — full of history and charm. The tea rooms were excellent too, perfect stop for an autumn treat. Even during October half term it never felt crowded; plenty of parking and so much space to explore that you’d hardly notice how busy it actually was. A brilliant family day out — we’ll definitely be back! – O’Toole UK | Keeping it real, one visit at a time.

Had a wonderful day, strolling around the gardens and small walk plus a joy to hear so much history from the volunteers in the hall. The cafe was reasonably priced with good food and coffee.

Buxton Opera House is a beautifully restored Edwardian theater that hosts a variety of performances including music, theatre, and ballet shows. Located in the Derbyshire spa town of Buxton, known for its Georgian and Victorian architecture and as the source of Buxton Water, it offers visitors a glimpse into its Roman history with health-giving waters. The town's centerpiece is the Opera House, surrounded by fine Georgian buildings like the Crescent and Devonshire Royal Hospital.
Lovely old building, with lots a great features. Went to see Amy and Carlos Reborn dance show. A really lovely show. The Opera House staff were all very friendly and helpful. The bars were not too busy and had a good selection of drinks. Toilets were clean.

We visited today as I'd booked a backstage pass for my Mum's birthday present. We go for shows often but never seen backstage before. The staff (volunteers) were excellent and very knowledgeable on everything including the history. Got to see the orchestra pit, the stage, the VIP area, the artist rooms where they get ready, and all around the seat areas. Would highly recommend.

Went to watch The Illegal Eagles on Friday evening…what a fantastic experience! The venue itself is an absolutely beautiful old building, a truly stunning setting for any performing artist. The staff inside, who I believe were volunteers, were wonderful. They were polite, courteous, and friendly throughout. They kindly directed me straight to the VIP lounge upstairs, which I had booked as a special treat to celebrate a birthday. The lounge, although small, was worth every penny. The host was lovely and welcoming, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, a perfect place to chat with other theatre-goers who had also booked the experience. I honestly can’t wait to return to Buxton and visit the Opera House again — it’s always a real thrill. I’ve also discovered that they offer heritage tours of the Opera House, which I imagine would be absolutely fascinating.

Pavilion Gardens in Buxton is a stunning historic venue that showcases the Victorian grandeur of the town. The gardens, dating back to 1871, cover 23 acres and feature play areas, a boating lake, and even a miniature railway on weekends and school holidays. Inside the Pavilions are two cafes, a retail arcade with locally sourced items, and The Conservatory which houses rare plants creating an indoor rainforest experience.
Lovely big gardens to walk around. We were there just before Easter so not too busy but still plenty of people making use of the large area. The gardens are well kept, clean and tidy. There is a small train, loved by children and adults, that does a circuit of the centre of the gardens.
Steve A — Google review
Beautiful gardens with free street parking if you can find it or loads of paid parking either around the town or in the gardens which can be located by the main road. Free public toilets, a small railway train that goes around the park for £2.50 per person, lasts around 5 minutes and is very cute, allowing you to see and take in the park from different angles. Theres loads of different paths, trees, wildlife and plants, some with information plaques, as well as frequent benches, bins and play parks for the kids. Extremely child, disabled and pet friendly. The streams, ponds and riverways are very well kept, as is the whole park and its lovley to see the ducks and wildlife enjoy it too.

Pooles Cavern is a natural limestone cave in Buxton, rejuvenated and opened to the public in 1977. Visitors can explore the two-million-year-old cave with its striking stalactites and stalagmites, including unique poached egg-colored formations attributed to mineral seepage. The Peak District's distinct landscape was formed over thousands of years as water carved out underground caverns, creating a hidden world of crystal stalactites.
Poole's Cavern is a hidden gem! This is a naturally formed cave and offers lovely views. it is worth a 30-minute visit. We visited on a weekend and it was quiet but I have learnt it gets very busy during weekends. Tip: Bring warm clothes as it can get chilly inside. Tickets can be bought online or at the store, with entry timings every 30 minutes. Parking and toilets are available on site. A great spot to explore!

Visited Poole’s Cavern yesterday and had a great experience. Our guide, Anne, was friendly, welcoming, and made the tour really engaging. She explained everything in an interesting and clear way, which made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Daisy — Google review
It's the people who work here that really makes this place. The cavern is a fascinating, geological wonder with an interesting history, but it was our tour guide, Callum that brought it all to life. He told us about the man John Poole who the cave was named after. He was a thoroughly nasty character who got a very satisfying cummupence, courtesy of the Buxton locals. Next he spoke of some of the other artifacts found including but not limited to Roman remains in a shrine to a water goddess. He spoke of the caves acquisition by a rich Victorian gentleman, and the side hustles that the impoverished children that were hired as tour guides at the time would use to extort more money out of the wealthy elite. Very industrious. It even has connections to Mary Queen of Scots, more specifically her portrait artist. The cavern also boasts 'poached egg stalacmites' that are only found in this cave system. Fascinating. This excavation is run through a charity that has already broken through into more of the cavern and hopes to soon use drones to bring footage from a cave blocked off from human eyes thousands of years ago. I would urge you to book a guide, buy the guidebook which is excellent and run amok in the giftshop which is full of crystally goodness as all this goes in towards this very important research. If you're really lucky, you might even get Callum to show you around.

We were suprised that due to my husband walking with a rollator and not being able to do stairs we were able to part of this tour for free which included a carer. Brilliant experience! It’s really well laid out and the lighting is very atmospheric. Dog friendly too, for a quid. There are guides in there too with lots of info if you’re on a self-guided tour. Can walk through it in 20-30min if you’re in a rush.

A living relic of ancient history right beneath our feet. We'll worth an easy stroll on a well lit, well supervised and grippy, almost adhesive path. The coffee alone is worth a quick visit and the staff are a pleasant and accommodating bunch.

Great package deal of a wine tour with dinner, bed and breakfast. Nigel the guide was superb, funny and knowledgeable. Not many grapes to see in April in Yorkshire but interesting and worthwhile visit. Food was excellent, wine was lovely and accommodation was nice and spacious. Only minor grumble would be the dinner service is quite early in the evening and PG tips teabags with the kettle in the room. Maybe with climate change I'll go back in a couple of years and see them growing proper Yorkshire tea. 😁

Beautiful location with an extensive view over the valley. The tour is more a lecture as there is not much to see. I lived in California, where most tours were free, including the tasting, but here it is to generate income. It was informative, and the 3 wines tasted were surprisingly good even though all are relatively low alcohol. Lunch however was very good, food excellent, service friendly and attentive plus amazing views. Due to low wine production bottle prices are high which is understandable. As a food and beverage venue it is quite lovely. They do weddings and have accommodations which look nice. A vineyard in Yorkshire that until the day before my visit I did not know existed...definitely worth checking out and I think it is essential to support this kind of local business.

We called in for Sunday lunch after a tour /tasting session. (40 people were on the tour. The man that led the tour was very knowledgeable and funny.) However the tasting part were 3 different wines. 40 people shared 2 bottles of rose, 40 people shared 2 bottles of white wine and you've guessed it, 40 people shared 2 bottles of red wine. There was only just enough wine to take a couple of sips. For the same price the following week we visited a restaurant in Leeds and we had three wines - each glass 70% full plus a snack to accompany the wine. For the same price. The wines were rich in flavour. We had booked a Sunday lunch too and everything was presented well, good size portions, very hot plates. But the plates were taken off the table before we'd finished eating. I just finished and my plate was taken whilst my husband was still eating. His plate was removed whilst he still had his knife and fork in his hands and food in his mouth. We felt rushed out. We had gone to celebrate a birthday and the staff really spoilt it for us. Sadly we will not return.

We booked for the dinner, bed & breakfast with vineyard tour. Absolutely amazing views. The apartment was lovely but is looking a bit tired in places. It's quite noisy as there is wooden decking outside so the sound of footfall echoes and vibrates through your room. You need to close the curtains as everyone who walks past looks in, I'm a fan of natural light so this irked me. The bed was comfortable and huge but the duvet didn't fit so we had to sleep in the middle of the bed so we both had cover. The service was great, the young lads who served us at dinner were outstanding and very accommodating. The food was great, it looked and tasted lovely. When we arrived for dinner a lady barged past us and was quite rude. We realised later that the lady worked there as she was seated at a table with a laptop. The black pudding, bacon & sausage were overdone and quite hard to cut. The choice of music over breakfast was slightly off putting. Jay-Z singing some horrendously racist words was appalling. We stupidly didn't say anything but a table nearby mentioned the same song. We inadvertently left a kindle & charger behind and emailed a lovely lady who advised us on postage. I've since received an email asking for an extra £5 (on top of the postage costs) for them to take it to the Post Office! A little bit steep, maybe they're not selling enough wine?! We've got to pay it otherwise we won't get our belongings back! Whatever happened to Common courtesy and doing a good deed?

Lovely winery. Did the tour £16pp for a 2 hour talk, and tasted 3 wines at the end. The guy doing the talk was excellent and went onto every detail about the vines and wines. Understandably they only produce small batches, but found the wine a bit pricy at £19 per bottle. Stunning views and well worth a visit.

The knowledgeable guides provide hourly feeding talks and share insights into the individual personalities and family dynamics of the monkeys.
A great place to wander around with over 100 monkeys roaming free. We spent a couple of hours watching them swinging through the trees, feeding, roaming around, some with babies on their backs. It's so nice to see them up close no bars or cages. The lovely thing is they all seem content to go about their business and wander up close to humans. The rangers do a great job of many sure the monkeys feel happy and the humans feel happy too 😊 answering questions and talking about monkey behaviour etc. There are a couple of play areas, a conservation area, gift shop and cafe. A great place to visit to see the monkeys up close.

We had a great time here, we dropped onto good weather and being a Tuesday a bit quieter than usual. It's great that you can just walk around with the monkeys free roaming, there are plenty of workers there to look out for you. You must watch a safety briefing before entering, not long at all but important info regarding your visit. The forest is lovely and a nice walk around, its in a loop but both directions there is a hill to climb, I would say keep right, smaller hill. If you are lucky enough to be there when they are doing a feed, they tell you all about the history and about the monkeys. One being 31 years old now, which in human years is over 100. Banana cafe was good too, both having jacket potatoes. Toilet facilities were very good. Ample parking.

This place was amazing! My sister and I loved being able to see the monkeys up so and learn so many different facts about them for example, their origin and their diet. We were lucky enough to be there at the time of their feeding which we got to see a staff member feed the monkeys and teach us how they behave and the hierarchy of the monkey kingdom. At the time of visiting, they had over 100 monkeys to see and around 11 of which being babys as young as 4 weeks old. As you leave the monkey forest, there's a cafe and a really big park with unique attractions such as big tree swings and mystery trails to walk and venture on. This site is truly amazing and I couldn't recommend it for families any more!

Its a nice day out with the children. Its not a huge site so only took about 2 hours to do everything, which included eating in their cafe. The cafe had a nice variety of food and was actually quite reasonably priced. We used kids pass to get 25% entry so paid £44 for 2 adults and 3 children. I have only given 4 stars due to the size of the place and how quickly it took to get around. I would return though but wouldn't want to pay full price and recommend looking for a voucher code like we did.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. £54 for a family of 4, a little on the expensive side I thought, but when you wander in to the monkey enclosure you certainly get your money's worth! There's plenty of monkeys to see and they get quite close to you at times. There were lots of babies (1 month and younger) to see that were ADORABLE! A small play park and den building area for the kids for when you're done and some educational areas. These weren't too informative, but enough. There's also a short meadow walk. We ate from the pizza van and this was really good value at under £10 for a Margherita pizza. The ice cream van was also exceptional! £4.50 for two scoops and you get loads! Shout-out to all the guides in the enclosure. They were all really knowledgeable and were full of chat. We didn't use the cafe but the food looked good and we didn't visit the shop I would recommend at least walking through the enclosure from 4:30 onwards as the monkeys head back up the hill for the evening, very cool to see them all walking home!

I absolutely love monkeys, so I drove five hours round trip to visit the Monkey Forest, and I was absolutely not disappointed! The monkeys are adorable and live freely—they aren't kept in cages. The area is spacious, and I had so much fun watching the little monkeys playing around.

Absolutely great time. Monkeys everywhere, feeding, playing, all natural, ignoring people, other than to play tricks on us, like bouncing in the branches of an acorn tree when people walk underneath! Nice walk, good little cafe. All reasonable prices, including entry tickets. We'll definitely be back.

We’ve been to Trentham Monkey Forest a few times, and it’s always great value for money. Walking through the secure area where the monkeys roam freely is both scenic and fascinating. The well-maintained path winds through grassed areas, which are fenced off with a low ankle-height barrier. The monkeys walk, run, and swing all around you, with knowledgeable staff on hand to answer questions. We were lucky on our last visit — several babies had recently been born, so it was a treat to watch them playing and exploring. The main walk can take anywhere from 30 minutes upwards, depending on how visible and active the monkeys are. For children, there are two lovely outdoor play areas, plus another pleasant walk through an open field. The café is reasonably priced — the food is nothing fancy, but it fills a hole and keeps the kids happy! Overall, if the weather is good, Trentham Monkey Forest is a fantastic family day out.

Trentham Gardens is a sprawling 725-acre outdoor family attraction that encompasses a shopping village, gardens, and woodlands. It offers an ever-changing landscape to explore with something new to discover on each visit. The beautiful gardens are adorned with vibrant flowers, making it an ideal spot for families to enjoy the outdoors. Additionally, professional photography services are available in the vicinity for various needs such as look-books, event photography, and corporate shoots.
Beautiful gardens, 15% off entry with the monkey forest ticket so both together came to like £20! So cheap for such a beautiful place. Amazing lake walk, option for a boat ride and good food options with the shopping village at the end. Recommend for a day out in summer!

Brilliant lovely day out with family. Shops and cafes really good selection. Garden centre is definitely worth a visit. I spent way to much on a wire fairy ( inprogress as we speak.

I visited Trentham Gardens today, I've been on many occasions and I have always enjoyed it and today wasn't an exception. But I was so pleased to see so many beautiful plants and all the nature that was being attracted by them. I'm not sure what the part is called but it's the little bit by the children's play area, which has a red bridge and a pond. Well I'm a massive fan of real flowers, bees, ladybirds etc and I was so happy to see the flowers and that area flourishing! Myself and my daughter (9yo) loved watching all the bees and wasps going from one flower to another. We loved seeing all the different things growing there and how calm and relaxing it was! It's beautiful and you can tell it's being well taken care of!

We visited for the Halloween event on the evening. Beautiful place to visit as always. The decor was lovely. Sadly they didn't have the seperate disabled access line they've had on previous occasions. The line did move quickly but our child became stressed with being surrounded by a large volume of people waiting in the queue. We booked the first slot for the event to get ahead of the crowds for this reason. Would be great if there was a section for older children who may enjoy being spooked. The food on offer was great.

A fabulous day out, reasonable prices for entry. A beautiful Italian garden & a walk around the lake is recommended. Also an excellent shopping village there too.

Really big estate, didn't get to see all of it, maybe next time when the weather is on my side. Would be great to see the wildlife, but I wasn't so lucky. Loved how intricate the metal dandelion sculptures were.

Amazing place, like a National Trust property but much larger than most of the ones I've been to. Obviously much of the gardens have been restored but they all look amazing. Lots of stopping places if you get tired. The boat ride on the lake is a reasonable cost and really nice on a summer's day. The residence is not accessible as it's just a shell but there are lots of plaques telling you about the history of the place. Would really recommend it for young and old, as there are walking trails around the lake and the youngsters can do a' fairy trail 'to try and spot all the amazing sculptures. There are beavers on the island too, you might not see them but you might spot their handiwork asking the edge of the lake. There are shops just outside the entrance too, I would recommend the ice cream at the Thornton's shop, by far the best on site (and we pretty much tried them all!)
Rauf — Google review
Been a long time annual ticket holder and always pleased to go to the gardens . You sometimes baulk at the price but when you look around the gardens and see how much work goes on it easily value for money . The gardens are great . Lovely to stroll around the lake and pop in one of the two cafes for a drink before pottering around the Italian Gardens . My granddaughter is a great fan of the play park . And yesterday it was our first time on the boat . It was brilliant. Great commentary from the guys on board . Learnt so much and saw some great bits of wildlife . Once again great value at only £3 .

Water & Amusement Parks
Waterworld is the ultimate tropical indoor aqua park in the UK, offering a wide range of attractions for both kids and adults. With over 30 rides and activities, including the thrilling Thunderbolt - the first trap door drop waterslide in the UK, Hurricane with its lightning effects and high speed, Twister's exhilarating twists propelled by water, The Python, The Rapids, The Black Hole for an exciting dark experience and more.
Visited during half term with my 5 and 7 year old boys. We bought the tickets that gave entry to the aquapark and West midlands safari park which was a great deal in my opinion. The changing rooms were clean, showers were nice and hot. The pool was fantastic with a large variety of slides for all the family. My boys loved the rapids, I felt sick after going round and round 3 times in a row 🙃. The water temperature was fine, we were in there for around 4 hours and no complaints - this has been mentioned in some other reviews as an issue but it was fine for me. All in all, a great afternoon out and it wasn't antwhere as busy as I thought it could be!

Great place for family day out. Swimming pool is a bit outdated but still beats others with slightly better theming. Don't look at rusty metal works and enjoy the waves and slides which are any age friendly, steps climb isn't too excessive and one doesn't have heart attack at middle age while climbing them, so one can still have fun in any age. They are trying stay on top of cleaning mess of pool and changing rooms. Again it does the job and it isn't too bad compared to some other pools. Restaurant offered quiet decent fried food with meal deals and share pallets, which was actually ok for fast food, but not too many healthy options, there was vegetarian Nd vegan option and beer for beer lovers. £5 refundable locker deposit, nice. £24 single entry and deal on family ticket or on dine or mini golf. Well it does come to a hundred at least for family of three with food but again kids have lots of fun. Viewing area for non paying customers isn't very comfortable or one can't see much unfortunately. Area is warm and one can sit and rest on chair and table. Website is very descriptive. Car park is about £6 if you stay 3 hours or more

Came last year and really enjoyed it, went last weekend and my gosh the place has nose dived. Organised chaos. Came for my lads 11th birthday and there was a poo in the outdoor pool, which took some time to clean, the queue system for the rings makes no sense, one line at the right hand side all waiting for singles, then you see people just walk up the left hand side taking doubles, so I asked (as I was waiting for a double) oh is that what we do, when we need a double use the left lane. No you wait in a line, then if I see you are waiting for a double I’ll call you forward? Err… didn’t make much sense. As I waited another 2 - 3 mins and then said, yeah you can come forward now? Needs two seperate lines one for singles and one for doubles or a member of staff asking, you a two? Yep, cool. Come forward. Then there are the queues on the stairs, swapping over mid stairway for one slide then the other over the various floors. We worked out at the very top, the queue was around 33 mins, mainly due to having one member of staff not only watching the ring one (possibly the cyclone) and then watching the (almost vertical ) slide at the same time. Just needs some actual management and some signage. A lot of unhappy people complaining about the same things. No mention that the blast slide was closed either, the one that’s like a rollercoaster and we are still waiting for a refund on our locker wrist bands. So disappointed after such a great visit last year. Wayyyy too many people in, no time limits or didn’t appear to be. Didn’t stay the full 3 hours of our slot because we all got bored of queuing, it was like human soup in the wave pool part. Water was cold, some places were clean, but the changing rooms absolutely packed to the heavens and when you have cold kids, couldn’t find a changing room for ages. Also adults walking about the pool area with trainers on and even when we raised it on hygiene concerns, they didn’t challenge it. Don’t think we will be coming back again sadly. Only giving it a two because of the first time.

We went with the boys (8 and 11 yo) on a Sat during Oct half-term, it was fabulous! The boys loved it and we spent 5 hours inside. We arrived early in the morning like 10:30, changing room was dry and clean, locker is easy to use. We paid £6 for the car park as we plan to stay long inside. Temperature inside is ok, a bit chilli if you get wet and stay out of the water, but the water is warm enough to stay long inside. We managed to play all the rides with less than 10 min wait before more people started to come at around noon. So my advice will be arrive early and enjoy the time with less people. We did get food from the cafeteria inside, food is ok, standard quality as you would expect to get inside this type of facility, as least there are enough choices for my fussy eater. More people in the afternoon meant a slightly longer waiting time for each ride, but still very manageable, and the arrangement for queue is good, there are quite many attendants/ life guards inside the facility too. We are from south of England, if there’s any chance we will travel north again, the boys would love to come again.

We spent a day at Waterworld during a heat wave when we visited the area from Scotland. The girl on the desk was lovely and friendly. We had issues using the QR code to pay for parking, so you're best using the machines outside. Parking was £6 for the duration we were there. I was actually surprised I had to pay to park. That's not common in Scotland. Most places have free car parks 😬 We paid, I think £96 for 2 adults and 2 children. You pay £5 deposit for a locker wristband, which you get refunded when you leave. The changing area was very big, and very clean. There were also plenty of lockers. There were a lot of slides, which was great 👍 and the outdoor pool was open, which was amazing when it was 27C outside 😅 My husband can't actually swim, so he was quite happy chilling in the bubble pools or outside. My daughter, her friend, and I went on the slides, river rapids, the wave pool, outdoor pool, and outdoor bubble pool. Lots of staff, and they were all being very attentive, giving clear instructions. I can understand why people in other reviews seem concerned about cleanliness. I wouldn't say the place is "dirty", I saw them doing water checks several times when we were there. It's more that it's in need of quite a bit of maintenance. For example, the race slides paint is badly worn, there is obvious rust on the spiral stairs, all of the tops of the flumes are caked in dust, the fans above the python and blackhole are rusty and covered in dust. It's all quite easily sorted out. The only thing I was actually concerned about was the bottom of the wave pool felt "slimey." You would try to jump with the wave, lose your footing, and you're straight under the water. I've been in many a wave pool lol that's not normal. We got the supreme platter from the cafe, and that was enough for 4 people and pretty affordable. Drinks were very expensive, though. Overall, we enjoyed our day and would happily come back if the maintenance issues were addressed.

Brought my child to Waterworld for the first time she 9 years old and she had the absolute best time staff were friendly and supportive she had the best day ever her words and wants to keep coming back she loved the slides but also loved the tide pool Lots of fun had :)

The second visit was just as good as the first. The place was as clean and well maintained as before, and although it was busy the queues weren't too bad. The changing rooms did the job.

Great water park we had a fab day. I had read a lot of bad reviews but we found it pretty good. It was clean and yes some of the slides and steps are old. But it was brilliant fun and all the staff were amazing. It did get a bit too busy after 2pm. But if you get there early you can have a great few hours. The outside pool is lovely too and is heated. Will definitely be back. Thank you

The Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is an educational observatory museum featuring science exhibits and the iconic Lovell Radio Telescope. Visitors can explore the Solar System and forces found on Earth and beyond through real-life experiments led by knowledgeable Explainers. The site offers interactive exhibits suitable for all ages, making science accessible to everyone. Additionally, guests can enjoy 35 acres of stunning gardens and visit the Planet Cafe to sample local, sustainable space food.
We went as two adults and there was still plenty for us to look at. Lots more for children to do. Seeing the telescope is amazing close up. The whole of the site is well maintained with plenty of areas to sit. The cost of the entry fee gives you chance to return as much as you want within the year. The onsite cafes are the typical prices you’d expect to pay at places like this, but had a nice choice with the option to sit inside or outdoors.

Fantastic. Went with our granddaughter who's not yet 3 and she loved it, as did we. Plenty of interest for all ages and plenty of interactive things for children, which are fun as well as being educational. The history of Jodrell Bank is amazing, going back to 1945 and the genius of Bernard Lovell. It's still one of the most important observatories in the world as well as being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cafe, picnic area, playground and shop are all there.
Nuts — Google review
This is a fantastic place to visit — super interesting and home to one of the biggest radio telescopes in the world. The main attraction is, of course, the Lovell Telescope, with its impressive 250 ft (76 m) diameter, making it the third largest steerable radio telescope on Earth. The site itself is beautifully set up: excellent car parking, clear signage, and well-presented exhibits. The atmosphere is lively — there are plenty of kids running about, full of excitement about space, planets, and life on Mars. I actually loved that as it feels very much like a science paradise for children. Overall, the whole setup is first-class, just what you’d expect from a UK UNESCO World Heritage Site. The only downside is the ticketing system. They only sell annual passes, and when you ask for a day ticket, you get into what feels like a Basil Fawlty–meets–Two Ronnies sketch. Technically, they don’t do day tickets… except they do, but under the name of an annual ticket. If you keep your sense of humour, you might even end up with a 10% discount like we did! On the plus side, the staff are all super friendly and helpful, which rounds off the experience brilliantly.
David H — Google review
This is an amazing afternoon out. You can quite easily spend several hours here. Just exploring the grounds before actually exploring the main attraction. The motion pictures are incredibly well done. And the indoor sections are also incredibly well done and really put you in the place of what it must have been like all those years ago to be trying to build this sort of structure and what sort of visionary this human was. If you buy your ticket online, it lasts for an entire year and you can go as many times as you want. Not bad for 12 quid.
Keith G — Google review
A great visitor centre. It's a pretty recent addition, so everything is still working as it should. The guides are all really helpful and know the sites history intimately. The main event, the 'Lovell Telescope', is an awesome sight up close. Well worth the trip.
Richard S — Google review
A great place if you're into astronomy! You can see the Lovell Telescope and walk around it (and even watch it rotate, if you're lucky). Be sure to check out the dome show, it's very immersive. There's a good exhibition on the history of Jodrell Bank in the main pavilion, and a small "science lab" that's great for kids.
Oleh Z — Google review
Reasonably priced day out with lots to see and learn. Despite its small size, there is a great amount of detail in all of the exhibition halls as well as lots of interactive activities for the little ones. However if you don't bring a packed lunch then be prepared to spend a bit more for the cafés. Overall I would say this is a great place to visit for all ages.
Ash H — Google review
Really rewarding to visit, even on a wet and windy day. The Lovell Telescope is of course a wonder in and of itself, and Jodrell Bank as a whole is a UNESCO world heritage site, but there's been a concerted and very successful effort to make the site offer families more than simply a chance to gawp at a giant dish. 🙂 The permanent exhibition is very well curated and offers lots of interactivity, the films are high-quality and interesting even for junior-school-aged kids (though tots might get a bit bored) and the outdoor experiments offer some clever insights into how radio astronomy works. Staff are always on hand, knowledgeable and friendly. And as if all that weren't enough, buying tickets provides free return visits for a entire year. It's too far for me and the family to make the trip regularly, but for those nearby the temporary exhibitions alone are worth returning for.

We really enjoyed the farm. There were lots to do and lots to see. It has an indoor play area, which was huge and our toddler loved it! They also have multiple outdoor play areas and some bouncy part too, it’s great that it includes all different ages. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Fantastic day at the farm with the kids they enjoyed all the playground areas and feeding the animals, definitely recommend this place. Excellent value for money, could easy spend the full day here. They have both indoor and outdoor play areas. Was quite busy today however there was plenty for the kids to do.

Absolutely loved this place. Loads of stuff for the kids to do although the weather does permit outdoor activities . The indoor soft play area is huge and the kids could easily spend half a day inside. The price is reasonable with £12 for kids and just £3 for adults( which if your kids can do everything you will be sat on the benches dotted about) There is a restaurant on site and table dotted around for picnics. The corn maze is ok and animals are dotted around.

It’s an amazing place to visit for both kids and adults. Just remember, there is an entry fee: £11 for children and £3 for adults. There’s plenty to do, including swings, slides, and go-karting! You can easily spend half a day to a full day there without a doubt. We even made a picnic out of it, and it was great! 👍 And yes, there's a garden center there as well. Which is a bonus.

Great day out. There are loads of activity’s to from a very large soft play area to a number of outdoor activities such as tunnel maze, inflatables, and plenty of animals to see. The site is well maintained with loads of parking spaces. In the winter or wet days it does get a little muddy but it expected being a farm. Also the wooden features can be slippy so I would take care. definitely worth every penny. Some constructive feedback, I think the entrance from the car park should be sign posted a little better but that’s all I got it’s a spot on day.

Brilliant day out! I had been looking at this place for a while but was unsure how good it would be. It was easy to find, there is plenty of parking, and it's cheap to go into the play areas (£11.99 per child and £2.99 per adult). I didn't see any disabled spaces, but there are no parking bays so you can leave a space next to the car for wheelchairs/pushchairs access. The car parking areas are well maintained, but are grass/dirt which might not be suitable for all wheelchairs. We went when it was really busy (hot day in the summer holidays) and it wasn't too busy. There are lots of well maintained paths around making it easy to navigate with disability aids (I myself use a stick and had no issues). There is a reasonably priced cafe, farm shop and concessions stand as well. You can also bring a picnic and there are plenty of benches/tables around to eat at! There are also lots of benches/seats in and around the play areas so it's easy to keep an eye on the kids and not have to be too far away. There are various types of play. areas for kids from toddlers to older kids. My son is 5 and he had a brilliant day! The staff around the farm are really friendly, and they look after the grounds so well with regular bin emptying, litter picking and tidying. Well worth the low cost to get in! We will definitely be visiting again! You can buy animal feed for £1 per bag at the entrance (reasonable bag size for the low price) to feed various farm animals on the way round. There are goats, ducks, geese, Free-roaming chickens, cows, horses, and pigs. Overall, I would easily give the farm 5 stars. It is a wonderful place to visit with the kids to get them off their tablets/devices and get them outdoors!

National Trust - Quarry Bank is a heritage site that offers a journey back to the early Industrial Revolution. It is home to Europe's most powerful water wheel and provides an immersive experience of the era. Visitors can explore the cotton mill, apprentice house, and stroll through beautiful gardens and woodlands on the Styal Estate. The museum exhibits are interactive and educational, making it suitable for all ages. The property has been meticulously restored to its former glory, offering insight into the lives of workers during that time.
Friday 20th June An excellent NT site to visit, adequate parking on site. Cafe, toilet facilities, plant sales all on site as standard for NT. Large grounds to explore and fantastic buildings to go around. The Mill was excellent, fully functioning equipment, that the experienced and knowledgeable machine operators show you them working and explain their function, well worth seeing. The Apprentice 's house is an additional tour I would highly recommend. We had "Richard" who undertook the tour and his enthusiasm and knowledge was brilliant, tours can sometimes get a little boring, not here, his passion for the subject keeps you listening and interested throughout. I would highly recommend taking this tour before visiting the Mill, it gives you a much better picture of the times and the working/living environment.

A Wonderful Accessible Walk for All Abilities - We had a lovely morning walk at Quarry Bank with my special needs daughter, who has limited mobility. The experience was fantastic—peaceful, well-organized, and very accessible. Parking was free and convenient, and we appreciated that entry to the outdoor walking paths was also free (only the gardens and certain facilities require a ticket was explained to us by the staff). The trails were well-signposted and easy to navigate with the provided map, making it stress-free for us to explore. The paths were well-maintained, smooth, and manageable for my daughter’s mobility needs. It’s rare to find such a beautiful, natural space that caters so thoughtfully to visitors of all abilities. I highly recommend to families with children and anyone with limited mobility. It’s a welcoming, serene place to enjoy nature without any hassle. We’ll definitely be back!

I absolutely adore Quarry Bank Mill, we often go for a walk here as we are NT members and it's not far from home. It's a really pleasant place to visit, especially in term time when it is quieter. The gardens are gorgeous, wonderful walks all round the area, mostly dog friendly but not in the mill as expected. Volunteers and staff are all wonderful. We walked down to the little church as we had never been and saw all the old houses, so adorable and charming. The school is in use and I love the look of it as it has that real village feel ♡ Just marvellous 😀

A fantastic place to visit. We took the grandchildren but found that the pram could not be accommodated - our fault entirely but the pram stores were full so could not tour the mill together. Wish we had taken the baby carrier for the 4 month old! An extensive place that would easily fill an entire day!!

Great NT place, visited lots of times but this time, as well as using the very good cafe, we walked through the estate onto the path by the runway. Saw lots of planes taking off and landing. The grandchildren loved it!! Family membership well worth it!

The cotton mill is still working and the inside tour was very interesting. I bought a glass cloth woven here! The garden was so big that we couldn’t see it all in one day. In summer there were special events for children, with soft play and activities both in the garden and inside the mill. My kids had so much fun! We also had pizza from a food stall and it was delicious. 🍕 I’d love to visit again.

Quarry Bank Mill is one of those spots that sneaks up on you, a real gem tucked just a short hop from Manchester Airport. It’s a beautifully preserved slice of Britain’s industrial past, with the old cotton mill, the roaring waterwheel, and the apprentice house giving you a vivid sense of how the world was changing back then. The place sits in a lush valley with woodland walks and the River Bollin running through it, so you get that mix of history and proper countryside calm. It’s the kind of place you can wander, learn a bit, breathe a bit, and come away feeling like you’ve touched a piece of the story that built modern Britain.

A nice little lake for an outing. It’s nice for a couple of hours and there are cafes and ice cream places around. There are also quite a few paid car parks available.

The lake was so picturesque sat watching the water sports while eating a massive Cod from the takeaway across the road, Parking was ok but the parking attendants were out in force issuing tickets for people failing to get back to their vehicles in time so be aware. The pubs are nice with great food but can be very busy, Its a great walk around the lake with of Ducks Geese and seagulls in abundance. Lovely day out.

First of all, Don't get stung if you can by parking in the pubs car park, there's one just after it which is half the price but normally pretty full so try to get there early to secure a cheaper spot!! Hollingworth lake is a great little spot with plenty of activities from Boat rides, Fishing playgrounds for kids and even hides for bird watching or photography. It took me about 2 hours to walk around completely at a slowish pace talking photos as I went even bumping into a fellow photographer for a chat. About half way round there's a little cafe with a seating area which is perfect if you take children with you to give them a break.
Rik — Google review
We enjoyed a brisk walk around Hollingworth lake earlier this afternoon, luckily the weather was quite kind with no rain and quite a bit of sun 🌞. Although in certain areas the paths had some quite large puddles from previous downpours and certain area's were covered in leafs so be careful under foot at this time of the year.

Stadium
Sights & Landmarks
The Etihad Stadium is a massive and contemporary sports venue that hosts football matches and offers behind-the-scenes stadium tours. In Manchester, football is a big part of the culture, so visiting either Manchester City's or Manchester United's stadium is a must-do experience. These impressive stadiums are marvels of engineering and offer an exciting glimpse into the world of famous football grounds. Visitors can book official tours to explore the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford, home to both teams.
First experience of visiting the Stadium, very well organised coming off the tram and plenty of guides ready to direct you to your turnstile. Once inside the ground plenty of toilets and food & drinks outlets. Great view of the pitch and good seats and spacing between each row. Pity England Ladies could not win the game. 👏👏 Etihad stadium

This time, I had the chance to visit the lounge of 9320. It offered hamburgers, hot dogs, fried fish, french fries, and some pies. The most impressive thing was the Asahi beer! The seats in the venue were quite comfortable. Although I'm not a fan of the City team, this venue experience was quite good.
Fox S — Google review
Unbelievable stadium, but don’t expect a big atmosphere from the fans compared to other teams, except during the big games. If you’re going to a match, the leather seats between Blocks 121 and 131 are honestly the most comfortable ones you can book. Blocks 110 to 142 also have leather seats and are perfect if you want to focus on the match and enjoy the football. Just keep in mind that you’ll mostly be sitting among older fans there, so the vibe is usually calm. But if it’s your first time attending a big match and you want to feel the atmosphere, go for seats in Blocks 019 to 032 or 010 to 042. The seats there aren’t as comfortable, but you’ll definitely experience the best crowd energy when it’s a big game. If the weather looks rainy, make sure to wear a jacket or book seats higher up in the Level 100 or 300 sections for better cover. I had a great experience over the last three years in this stadium, and I really appreciate how easy it is to buy tickets through their official website. Based on what I know, there’s only one halal food option available inside the stadium, so it’s better to eat beforehand if you prefer halal meals. There’s also a small prayer room, which is a nice touch, but it would be great if they could add more prayer spaces in different stands or create a larger one that’s easier to access. That would definitely help reduce the crowding before matches or during halftime.
Nawwaf A — Google review
This was a great way to spend a few hours on the stadium tour. Funny and informative guides, really good atmosphere. Great to see where the players go about their match day rituals, through the tunnel club hospitality bar, into the gym and changing room, and right to pitch side. We even got the chance to sit in Peps chair pitch side and have photos with the man himself. Fantastic value for the price of the tickets, would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic day out ~ brought my son here for a birthday treat and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute.. Our tour guides (Tim and Mick) were amazing and very entertaining!!! Thank you for a great day, and we will definitely be back ⚽️🏆😎
Jade W — Google review
Event staff at the Stadium were tremendously helpful for a 'black tie' charity fundraising event, couldn't have gone more smoothly - apart from two emergency evacuations, fortunately an hour before the first guests arrived! (False alarms but a good test of their processes by the security teams.) And, unusually, for Manchester, it wasn't raining (jj)! Result!
SilverBee 5 — Google review
Iconic stadium. the travel in & out was streamline and immaculate. £5 burger inside were lethal too - wish I got 2 🙊
Bashar S — Google review
Arrived via the Manchester Metrolink tram (Etihad Campus stop—short walk). Turned up in the morning and found it closed until 10:00, so note that tours/City Store generally open from 10. This isn’t a public jogging venue like Jakarta’s GBK—no track access outside events—but the complex is clean, modern, and easy to navigate with excellent tram links. For match days, expect efficient security, contactless payments across kiosks, and a lively atmosphere around the concourse. On non-match days, book a stadium tour if you want more than exterior photos. Tips: come after 10:00, check fixtures/tour slots in advance, travel light due to bag restrictions, and use the tram for hassle-free access. Overall, a very impressive stadium even if you only have time for a quick look.

Historical landmark
Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker is a historical site and defense complex that offers tours and exhibitions showcasing 20th-century military history. Visitors can explore the underground bunker, read declassified files, and learn about the Cold War. The bunker features a nuclear weapons display and various exhibits including civil defense equipment, emergency response gear, a radio studio, press briefing room, sleeping quarters, Soviet military uniforms, and memorabilia.
Our second visit back in July 2024. I love underground spaces. This place is amazing, filled with memorabilia relating to nuclear war. It is huge with plenty to see. A great day out. All the usual facilities are onsite. The added bonus is that your ticket lasts a year, winner.
Lynn ( — Google review
An unusual and fascinating place to visit. Lots of interesting items and information. Plus cafe, shop, toilets. Entry ticket valid for returns within 12 months.
Lyndsey — Google review
Well worth a visit if history - particularly military is your thing. Although in the scary world we live in atm it could be the future as the nuclear threat hasn't gone away really. As a teacher I believe this The Cold War and significance for today is something that should be part of our out of date curriculum. The young lady on the desk was welcoming and friendly. Although the subject matter is serious the place had a calmness and one felt relaxed viewing and reading exhibits. So much to see - we hadn't expected as much. We did not have Spotify so did not follow audio - perhaps bunker audio headphones would have set the scene more? Lots of information to take in and some find reading tricky. Dates of reference and origin on some articles would have improved things for me but that's just me as it did not really distract just wondered if sources was credible and time written. Taking the dog was brilliant and he enjoyed it to. Cake and drinks were lovely esp the chocolate sprinkles!! Would definitely rate this place and lovely staff.
Julie G — Google review
Having previously visited a nuclear bunker in Scotland we were keen to come here. We visited with our dog who was welcomed in all areas of the site. A fascinating location with plenty of exhibits and information. A simulator of a nuclear strike whilst in a shelter really made us realise how terrifying any sort of bombing must be for civilians. We were a little late visiting the 'canteen' but we're made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a tasty lunch and authentic cappuccino 😉. A great place to visit for exhibits and the fantastic staff who seem to manage both admission and catering with brilliant service.
Jane W — Google review
Well worth a visit if you have an interest in this period of history. Well laid out with clear explanations at each exhibit. It was a lot more expansive then we were expecting, spread over two floors with 20+ rooms. Keep an eye out for Goulash the cat though he is most likely to be hovering around the cafe! Tickets are good value especially if you are local as they are valid for 12 months.
Alan J — Google review
A grim reminder of troubling times. Just south of Nantwich a secret nuclear bunker was established in the Cold War to monitor any attack and resultant devastation, coordinate communications and support rescue and recovery. The bunker is now a museum. Fascinating technology and horrifying mockups on nuclear weapons.
Melvyn D — Google review
Not sure what to expect, but it was certainly thought provoking. Excellent musuem, well laid out with a download available for each room and area. Staff very pleasant, and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed refreshments in the Navies Canteen, toasted sandwiches, very good. The ticket is for a years admission, which if local is very good value. As no way can you observe everything in one visit.
Rosemary C — Google review
For quite some time now I can be best described as a “Cold War Enthusiast” and not longer after my visit to the Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker in Essex I learnt of the Hack Green Bunker and made it my mission to one day visit the bunker. I visited the bunker on the 1st of August back in 2023 and even to this day whenever I think about the bunker I am still shocked and amazed by it. The amazing information and the displays within the bunker transported me into the world of Mutual assured destruction and fear about the bomb one day dropping. The bunker wasn’t as big as Kelvedon but the Bunker made up for that with not only a Soviet display which gave you a glimpse at the armed forces of the USSR but also a showing of the 1966 banned film The War Game which blew me away as I longed to see it! Staff in the Cafe were friendly and very understanding of my autism and the fact I was so hyper. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who loves history but also loves the Cold War

Tatton Park Country Park is a historic estate featuring a Tudor hall, neo-classical mansion, and expansive gardens. The park offers free access to 1,000 acres of parkland with walking and cycling trails, picturesque viewpoints, and serene spots for relaxation. Families can enjoy child-friendly walks such as the Deer Park Walk to observe the resident deer herd or explore the tranquil Japanese Garden with its exotic flora and soothing water features.
This is one of the best places I have been. There is so much to see and do. For NT members the house and gardens are free and they are really worth the visit. The house is jusy incredible and takes about an hour to go around. The gardens are just as impressive. We will definitely be going back again. Parking is about £9 for the day regardless if you are a NT member or not as it is owned by the council.

I had a beautiful morning exploring the gardens at Tatton Park. It’s free for RHS members. But be warned that you need to pay £10 to park the car regardless of whether you visit any of the attractions. There’s toilets in the courtyard alongside a garden shop, cafe, gift shop, and bookshop. The gardens were looking great as we venture into autumn. There’s some beautiful dahlias still flowering and creating a wonderful display. Plenty of ripening apples and pears! Must be a fantastic season this year!! Lots of areas to wander in peace. The grounds are serene and as I was there at 10, there was hardly a soul! So plenty of beautiful photo opportunities!!

Tatton Park offers a rich blend of history, nature, and family-friendly experiences. Set in 1,000 acres of stunning deer parkland, Tatton Park combines heritage with leisure. The grand Mansion reveals life upstairs and downstairs, while the Medieval Old Hall adds depth to its history. Visitors can enjoy 50 acres of award-winning gardens, picturesque lakeside walks, and rare breed animals at the working farm. The Stableyard provides a pleasant stop for food and shopping, though parking fees can feel steep. Overall, it’s an atmospheric destination perfect for families, history enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike.

Absolutely stunning 🥰 We had a really nice day out. The kids had plenty of space to run around the garden is enormous and gorgeous. We love the Japanese garden. The mansion was gorgeous as well, filled with portraits and beautiful detailed interiors.

What a lovely park, no stags in view this time which was odd, lots of sheep though. We walked the full circuit of the lake which is approximately 2 hours walk, nice and easy though.

Great for walks/views through the Japanese gardens are eye catching also. Make sure you book parking online prior and save £1 (usually £10 on the day) 😅

Tatton Park Set in Cheshire, is a vast 1,000-acre estate with woodlands, lakes, and 50 acres of formal gardens, including Italian, Japanese, and walled kitchen designs. Adult entry costs range from £8–£10 for vehicle access, £10 for a single attraction, or £18 for the “Totally Tatton” ticket covering Mansion, Gardens, and Farm. The estate opens daily in high season (late March–October), while in low season it closes on Mondays and hours are shorter. Food is a highlight: the Stables Restaurant serves hearty meals and children’s boxes, while the Gardener’s Cottage Tea Room offers light lunches and indulgent afternoon teas in a walled-garden setting. The Farm Shop sells estate-reared meats and seasonal produce for picnics or to take home. Tatton is a place where grand landscapes meet heritage and local flavour—perfect for a full, flexible day out. Lovely day out.

Nature & Parks
Walton Hall and Gardens is a grand Elizabethan-style hall surrounded by beautiful ornamental gardens, offering a variety of attractions for visitors. Acquired in 1941, the property was transformed into a public park shortly after World War II. The 32-acre parkland provides an ideal setting for picnics and outdoor activities, including a children's zoo featuring diverse animals like parrots, ponies, ferrets, and more.
Walton Hall and Gardens is a gem of a place, especially for children to play and run around in. It has a little children's zoo, which adds to its appeal. When we visited, fun activities included a Thomas Tank Engine train and a fun run around the gardens. There is also mini golfing and a rope climbing activity which are charged. There are not many places that can be visited for free, so it is good for budget conscious families. As it was busy, the car park, quickly became full. There is a parking charge of £4.90 for the day.

Great place for a family day out! Had a lovely experience at this place. The whole area is very clean and well maintained. The small zoo was a pleasant surprise, free and perfect for kids to enjoy. There's a large, impressive playground with plenty of activities to keep children entertained for hours. Parking was £4.50 for the whole day on the weekend. Overall, it’s a peaceful, fun, and family-friendly place to spend the day.
Mojtaba — Google review
Beautiful park with many free things to offer. The mini zoo inside is a pleasant surprise with a variety of animals more to offer than most farms I have been to and it’s free. Open spaces with beautiful garden centre with plants to see a lovely little cafe with little stalls, plenty of clean toilets spotted around the area near the park as well as near the cafe area, definitely well kept and a breath of fresh air. The open spaces and park is just amazing with alot to offer children of all ages. Not many places have free things to offer and this had a good mix. There are two ice cream vans with affordable but delicious ice creams as well cold drinks. The zoo closes around 4:30 and the cafe at 5:00 so ensure you don’t miss out and go within the times of possible. The Thomas ride on is £3 per person and flags for £1 lovely little feature if you don’t fancy walking but want to see the park. Car park is pay and display and disabled spaces getting 3 hours for free.

Was fortunate to be able to have a wander around the hall as part of Heritage Open Days. The lady from the Friends group was extremely helpful and the group have done an excellent job with the house. It was built in the 1830's by the Greenall family, of brewing fame. Hopefully that work will continue so that it can continue to develop and be opened up more often for the public. It's now owned by the Council who have developed the grounds with a children's zoo and play area, as well as a cafe and plenty of local walks.

Recently checked this place out. It's great for families. You have a big children's play area. A children's zoo which is more like a farm with farm animals to visit. You also have a jungle Parc, crazy golf for children and normal golf course for adults. Cycle museum which I think you got to book to visit. You have Walton hall and gardens, a pond to view and there is also toilets and a cafe on the premises. Ideal place for a local day out with the family. Opens 8am until 8pm Current parking costs for cars Mon to Fri = £3.50 decent size carpark. Sat to Sun (bank holidays) =£4.50

Must say a hidden gem park with an amazing mini zoo (and it's included with the car parking which was £4.50 for the day). Very neatly maintained and loads of spaces to explore within the park. Will recommend getting some snacks & coffee from outside although there's a cafe in the park but a bit expensive (£4-6 for a coffee/hot choc). Overall it's a fun park with kids around.

Visitors can enjoy various activities such as train rides, rollercoasters, splash rides, and soft shooting games at the Nerf Zone.
A wonderful visit to Gulliver's World Theme Park with family and friends comprising 14 members. Both the categories; adults as well as kids enjoyed various rides. I as individual experienced rail, pirates boat and the one besides it-The revolving boat with a man, tower boat slide and other members enjoyed many more. It has been a unique experience to have enjoyed among such a variety of general.public from all nationalities, local and foreigners, cultures and creeds. Park is being managed very well. We left only when it was closing hours. We had booked the park to celebrate the birthday of our grandson and everyone enjoyed the event. Well done to the management of Gulliver's World Theme Park..

We went with three kids 1, 3 and 7. They all thought it was great. The newer areas like Oz are well kept but some of the other areas just need a lick of paint and a tidy up. We saw a lot of rubbish and uncleaned parts of the park (picture of the lake). Every member of the young staff team were great, couldn’t be faulted. The rides are fine for that age, although most had a decent queue of 20 mins to 45 mins. We stayed in the lodge accommodation which was fine, don’t expect anything exceptional (the price reflects that). The safari lodges were chip board throughout with no doors separating the rooms and the shower filled up within seconds so your wash will be quite rushed. With that said as adults we saw both negatives and positives. The kids only saw the positives. If your going for a day or two with an overnight stay it serves the purpose.
Alex J — Google review
We went on and SEN day where the park was quiet and both ourselves and our two little boys really enjoyed it. Weather wasn't great but we were still able to use all the rides, staff appeared to be more understanding of everyone's situations and if there was no queue they allowed us to stay on the ride for another turn which saved the hassle of having to get the kids off the ride to then put them back on after walking back to the entrance. Park is showing its age and could do with a general clean and update, but still a really fun day

Wow what an evening. We went as a large family group last night to the Land of Lights in Gulliver's World. This was our first time to this kind of event and we were not disappointed at all. The whole experience was truly spectacular. The lights were fantastic, the food great. We had pizzas all round nd the kids really enjoyed the witch ice-cream tubs, while the adults went for the delicious hot chocolate. All the staff were really friendly and helpful including all those on fire out duty for roasting the marshmallows . Along with I think it was Pete and Amanda who were really friendly and exceptional in their service 😁. I would highly recommend this if you have never been. We will definitely be back and watch out for further events at Gullivers.

This is a really fun theme park for the kids. I think the ages they are aiming at are probably between 6-10 but they still have some rides for the older kids too. Some rides are very popular & the wait time can be up to 30+ minutes but when I went it was Bank Holiday Sunday so was bound to be busy. My daughter is 14 & although some rides are for little kids they still had a few aimed at older kids such as the rollercoaster & drop ride which were really fun. We will definitely return & take my niece again when she's a bit older.
Calum B — Google review
We went bank holiday Monday for my son’s birthday, paid £122, for 4 people we managed to get on 4 rides. Then over £100 extra inside the grounds, Really disappointed, most rides were 2 hour queing times. it wasn’t even they were really packed the problem was they had 1 person loading the rides, that same person would then have to strap each person in so the safety checks then set the ride in motion, then stop the ride unload the ride then reload the ride, the big rollercoaster only had 1 carriage running. Considering it was a bank holiday they should have had more staff working, knowing the weather was hot and it would be busy. The place is card only the internet went down couldn’t buy drinks ice cream nothing for like 40minutes. When we finally got round to getting drinks got through the massive ques there were no bottled pop left no bottled water. We went in the restaurant at the main entrance for lunch, the food was served quite quickly, but while eating lunch the power tripped like 7 times. I have made a formal complaint said I would hear from them within 7 days, I’m still waiting 2 weeks later 🙈 would we visit here again No, and we’re local only around 20minutes away, we normally do the eat sleep play and have been to Milton keys and Sheffield and Yorkshire. Never had any problems like we had in Warrington, I don’t think we will visit here again.

I took my 4 year old grandson and 2 year old granddaughter my grandson couldn't go on any rides with out an adult as it would mean leaving my granddaughter alone my grandson was so up set. The only saving grace is that the santa trip was excellent its truly worth it my grandchildren really enjoyed this part of the day, just wish you didn't have to pay full price if you can't use the rides. Also if your planing to go take another adult with you so your little ones don't feel left out. I must give a shout out to the young man on the merry go round he seen how up set the babies were and let them stay on for an extra go he is a great asset to the gullivers team.
Mandy J — Google review
It was our granddaughters birthday and we went along to the park with her. It turned out to be a great day out. There are tons of rides for younger children and lots of parks to play in with picnic area's nearby so you can eat while the kids play. There isn't very much for older children to ride on, so it's limited in that respect. But if you have younger children, it's great value for money and you can easily spend all day there and just about see it all.
