A great space for concerts. Saw the Stranglers and Skids on the night. Car parking at Gade 24hr car park quite close. Accessible for wheelchairs. A security arch was at entrance.
No food on the night and beer wasn't all that either.

Friendly staff and security bar one mismog. Give someone a uniform eh...! Charming looking building outside. Lovely building inside. Recently revamped. Bar prices were fair. No large queues. Large seating area outside of stage area.
Large standing area. Not the best acoustics here., perhaps it was the bands sound engineer making a bit of a pigs ear of it. Shall give the venue the benefit of doubt on that one.
Went to watch Jake Bugg. Great venue, friendly staff, we didn't have to queue long. Just wish we knew there was another bar further inside as we did have to queue quite a while for drinks. Cloakroom (£2) and plenty of toilets available.
We travelled here to see a music concert. The Colosseum has recently reopened after refurbishment and it was looking good. Thoughtful and classy looking refurbishment. Friendly, happy staff. Good selection of drinks though only crisps were available as a snack. Sound quality/acoustics were good and the layout helped produce a great atmosphere.
The newly refurbished colosseum was worth the wait. A delightful venue with many great events to look forward to. Bar prices seemed high which was the only negative to my first night with a concert by the BBC Concert Orchestra
Went to see Ocean Colour Scene. Apparently this is the first concert since they've refurbished this venue. And wow, they have done a magnificent job. I think there were three separate bars, where I found service was fairly swift. There's plenty of parking very close to the Colosseum. Altogether a very enjoyable experience.
I went to Party 101 at the Watford Colosseum last night. The show itself was absolutely amazing — the atmosphere and sound system were excellent, and the performance was top-notch.
Unfortunately, the organisation outside and at the bar let the night down. The queues were massive and very poorly managed. After waiting ages, we saw security suddenly begin pulling people from behind us and letting them in through a different entrance. This meant people who had only just arrived — and queued for five minutes — got inside before those of us who had been waiting much longer. If queues needed to be redirected, this should have been done from the front fairly, not from the back.
There were also issues at the bar. Around 10 minutes after the performance began, alcoholic drinks stopped being served because staff had served a minor. This is completely unacceptable. IDs should always be checked, especially when knowing an event is 14+.
This mistake meant the bar was closed just as the event was starting, spoiling the experience for many. I wasn’t desperate for a drink myself, but at a dance event like this, the atmosphere is definitely better when guests can enjoy refreshments responsibly.
Overall, fantastic show but let down by poor queue management and serious bar staff failures.
I hope the Colosseum reviews its procedures because the performers and production deserved better support.
Easy Parking and restaurants nearby, big venue maybe 2000 capacity,clean,safe,nice kind staff.
Huge reverb and very bad sound mix in the balcony but that maybe sound tech issues not the venues fault

We were in St Albans for a few days. I didn't know what to expect as it's so close to London, a place I cannot abide. But it was SO beautiful. Very quaint and very English. The cathedral is wonderful with medieval wallpaintings still intact and two saints shrines. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. But the big surprise was the roman remains. In the middle of the park below the cathedral, in a small building, is a beautiful roman mosaic. Then we found the museum. Here are some fabulous mosaics, plasterwork and all sorts of other finds from the old roman town of Verulamium. I was particularly taken with the contents of a carpenters workshop. The hand tools were not dissimilar to those used today. Back outside, we found considerable lengths of the old roman walls. What a wonderful place.

A fascinating collection of Roman artefacts from the ancient city of Verulamium the ruins of which are located beneath modern Saint Albans.
Also worth visiting is the preserved hypocaust ("hot air central heating channels") from a Roman Villa located across the park a short distance from the museum and also visit the amazing Roman theatre across the road from the nearby church.
Well maintained and a huge park with a play area, garden, golf course and cycling trails. The walking trails near the pond has to be looked in to as they were messed by duck poop. It has ample car parking but they do charge for it. It’s a great place for a family picnic or to hang around with family and friends.
Having been to Rome, Pompeii, and Pergamum among other places from Roman history this little museum is one of the best to be found. Spectacular mosaics and wall paintings. And more to visit outside in the surrounding park.

Aug25- History on Your Doorstep talk on Roman Verulanium, women and Boudicca. Fascinating lecture /visual screening work by a history/archeology graduand, Niamh. The Sr colleague too was so knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed and got to walk round the museum after. Loses a star for the lack of parking necessitating several drives round waiting it hoping someone was leaving.
An excellent little museum with loads to offer. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and learned a lot about this historically significant partner the world. A rich variety of archaeology is on display, with lots of supporting information. Entry prices are reasonable, with a discount if you live locally. The museum is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilet facilities. Staff are friendly and helpful.
We thought it was great, cost £10, if like us you like anything Roman, didn't think it was a place for kids as they would get bored very easily.
If you are early there is FREE parking at King Harry lane, basically behind the hypocaust. The Roman theatre costs an extra £3

Verulamium Park is a 100-acre green space in St Albans, named after the Roman settlement it was built on. The park features a lake with various waterfowl, a playground for children, benches for relaxation, and sports facilities including tennis courts and an outdoor fitness area. It also houses ruins of ancient city walls and serves as a film set for the musical fantasy 'Wonka.'
It's a beautiful, extremely large park!!
Verulamium Park is lovely for dog walks, taking the kids to the park, or even just nice to sit and have a picnic. People of all ages can come here. Some footpaths are underwater depending on the time of the year. The public toilets may possibly become flooded too, as it's very close to the lake.
There are lots of nature and plenty of wildlife on the lakes. There is a coffee shop that sells hot and cold drinks, ice cream, doggie ice cream and treats, with some hot and cold food to eat.
There's a museum at the edge of the park that has a lot of history of the area, which is nice. There is the oldest pub situated just outside the park which is an easy walk to get to (ye olde fighting cocks).
It is all wheelchair accessible and has alot of pay and display parking on site.

A delightful park for walks. However, I gave it four stars because some footpaths are underwater so we can't use them. Overall, it is one of my favourite parks in St Albans. Pictures are from the summer and winter times.

Verulamium Park in St Albans is a lovely mix of open green spaces, rich Roman history, and fun activities for all ages. You can stroll by the peaceful lake, explore ancient ruins like the Roman wall and mosaic floor, or enjoy the children’s playground and splash park. It is a great spot for families, picnics, and relaxed afternoons surrounded by nature and heritage.
Verulamium Park is great relaxing by water, we went there and unfortunately no more water fountains. At one end the water is filthy and smelly. Great spaces for picnic and a pint at ye olde fighting cocks one of the oldest pubs at the far corner of the park.
A really beautiful and spacious park with plenty of greenery. The place is full of birds, and fish in the lake, making it a peaceful spot to relax. There’s a children’s playground near a café, but it isn’t free. According to Google, there’s also a free playground somewhere in the park, but I didn’t get a chance to explore the whole area to find it.

Beautiful on the outside and inside, very historic and a place a calm reflection to wander round. Free entry but lots of places where you can donate via tapping your card. Very friendly staff inside who recommended the parts of the cathedral to make sure we didn’t miss!

The sheer scale of St Albans Cathedral, a structure of profound history and weight, provided the perfect canvas for the Poppy Fields light installation by Luxmuralis last night. It was more than an event; it was a deeply moving, sensory experience designed for quiet contemplation and remembrance. The massive, soaring architecture of the Nave, usually bathed in the soft glow of natural light or high electric lamps, was utterly transformed by darkness and vibrant digital projection.
This an absolutely stunning building dating originally from the Norman period but with additions over the centuries. The place was a pilgrimage site long before the Norman's arrived and the tomb of St Alban is still a pilgrimage site today. The cathedral possesses the longest nave of any cathedral in Britain and there are a number of medieval frescoes still visible; fascinating even if somewhat faded.
Being there you imagine that the place is nearly 1000!!!!! Years old. Some buildings were built from the Romans bricks. It is the oldest and one of the most significant church in England. This church saw everything. Besides that, town is beautiful, going there you should have enough time. It is hard to find the parking lot.
Absolutely enjoyed my visit. A stunning place that showcases its long history through a mix of architectural styles. I just loved every single detail, from the floor and columns to the ceiling.
Enjoyed our visit there. They have a free guided tour of the cathedral which runs for about an hour; I strongly recommend it. The entry is free too!

What an absolutely lovely afternoon we had with yourselves. Your staff were very nice and very polite. Lots of parking. The different lavenders were lovely to see, smell and pick. The benches strategically placed at the top of the lavender lanes was an excellent resting stop. My only complaint was paying £10 for four cans of coke and £6 for a tea & coffee was a little steep but otherwise, a great time was had by all.

Such a beautifully presented platter of delicious cheese and crackers which we thoroughly enjoyed with our cups of tea! Unfortunately however my partner being a 6’4 when used their loo, bumped his head as they have a low ceiling. Also, my partner had ordered another cup of tea that was served in another table which made him wait longer for his extra hot drink.
As we explored in the field, we smelt a wonderful fresh fragrance of Lavender! It did not look as purple anymore as I am aware they were going to be harvested soon when we went on 07.08.25 However, the Sunflower field did not disappoint us as they were in their full bloom and most yellow.
Nice day out! We love The Barn! Recommended. Be careful with your head at the loos though.
Visited Hitchin Lavender for the first time yesterday to pick our pumpkins for Halloween. We had a fantastic time. Despite the big crowds the pumpkin patch itself was full of loads of large and undamaged pumpkins, perfect for carving.
The decorations were fun and well thought out. There was face painting, games and a clown present for the kids. It very aimed at families and children however me and my fiancée still had a great time as a couple.
Both the cafes were busy but the staff were handling the queues quickly and politely, plus the pumpkin spiced latte and Halloween luxury hot chocolate were worth the wait as they were both delicious.
I will definitely visit next summer as a result of how good it was for the Halloween season.
Absolutely 💯 beautiful experience. Wonderful atmosphere. Gorgeous place and definitely worth a visit. Our second visit and it’s better than the last. The Weather was hot ☀️ and nice 😊 All staff were nice and friendly. The Lavender Fields was vibrant with colour and the smells were amazing. Food was delicious 😋 and delightful. The lavender ice cream 🍦 was amazing. Lavender lemonade was delicious and very refreshing. Overall we had a fantastic experience. Everyone should visit Hitchin Lavender. I’ve come with my family from Manchester.
Hitchin Lavender is such a beautiful place to visit. The fields are stunning, filled with rows of vibrant lavender that make the perfect setting for a peaceful walk and lovely photos. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the scent of lavender everywhere is just amazing. The café is a nice touch too, offering tasty treats and drinks. It’s a wonderful day out for families, couples, or anyone who enjoys nature.

We recently visited Hitchin Lavender Farm and had an absolutely amazing experience! The whole day felt like a perfect escape into nature — beautifully scenic, peaceful, and wonderfully pet-friendly.
From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning sea of purple stretching across the fields. The aroma of fresh lavender in the air was soothing, and the views were breathtaking — perfect for photos and for simply taking it all in.
What made the visit even more special was that we brought our pet along — and they had a blast! Hitchin Lavender is genuinely welcoming to pets, and it showed. One of the biggest highlights was the pet ice cream available on-site. Our furry friend devoured it and couldn’t get enough! It’s such a thoughtful touch for animal lovers.
We also tried the lavender ice cream ourselves — and wow! It was creamy, floral, and incredibly refreshing. A truly unique treat that we still talk about. The food options in general were lovely, with plenty of choices for snacks and drinks, and the outdoor seating made it easy to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Before we left, we couldn’t resist browsing the shop. We ended up buying several lavender products — from oils and soaps to beautifully packaged dried lavender. Everything smelled divine and made perfect gifts (and keepsakes for ourselves). Whether you’re coming for a peaceful walk, a family day out, or just to spoil your pet a little, Hitchin Lavender is 100% worth the visit.
We left feeling refreshed, happy, and already planning our return next summer. 🌿💜

Second time visiting the spa. First time was 12 years ago and would definitely return. The place is very clean and well looked after. Love the pool (even though it was a bit cooler than expected) such a nice atmosphere here. Had a lovely himalayan hot stone massage and facial. The heated beds to sit on beforehand were a lovely touch. Parking is fine, staff great. Recommend getting the gown and towel package, definitely made the difference.

Very warm welcome from the reception staff. Lovely nice clean spa. Had a lovely Himalayan salt stone back massage with Megan. She was lovely and friendly but professional and the massage was good. The dehumidifier in the room was loud and she was unable to turn it off. This spoilt the overall experience for me as I found the noise irritating. Pool area was nice but there are not enough beds or chairs for people to be able to relax and read in the pool area and nowhere else to sit and relax. Cafe is okay, prices reasonable. Overall good value for money for a half day experience but not enough to do for a whole day.
I had a Himalayan Salt Stone massage at Bannatyne Fairfield today, it was so relaxing! Christine was really friendly and professional and made me feel completely comfortable. The massage itself was a full body, the salt stones were hot which was lovely and also exfoliating which was a bonus. After the treatment, I wanted to buy an Elemis cleanser and Christine was very knowledgeable about the products and helped me choose what was best for me and my skin. I bought the Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Facial Wash and I have just used it for the first time. It had a nice gentle scent and my skin feels lovely and soft (which is not a given for me!). Absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere, the staff and the building. We were greeted and told where everything was. The changing spaces were spacious and really modern. Lockers were a great size and the showers were lovely. Swimming pool was so relaxing with jacuzzi, steam and sauna. Restaurant food was easy to order and not too expensive. Food tastes great and quality was amazing. Had a cheeky cocktail and that went down a treat. The spa facility was beautiful! Great architecture and a great history. The treatment was perfect, great room temperature, relaxing and I could have stayed for longer! Will be back!
Had a lovely experience at Bannatynes Spa at Fairfield. Me and my mum decided to treat ourselves for my birthday to a spa day. The spa facilities were lovely as they have been before and it was so relaxing to be able to use the sauna and steam room after our swim.
I will say the best part of the day was our treatments. We both had mini back massages and facials. Christine was my masseuse and she was amazing! She made me feel so relaxed and gave me great advice on how to look after my skin. She was so lovely and sweet and I truly couldn’t have asked for someone better to give me my birthday massage!
I had the absolute pleasure of a deep tissue massage with Jamila, and it was outstanding from start to finish. She was professional, kind, and genuinely listened to what I needed. For the first time, I felt like I had a real massage—targeted, effective, and exactly what my body needed, unlike previous experiences elsewhere. Jamila’s skill and care made such a difference, and she’s the reason I’ll be coming back to Bannatyne Spa Fairfield. Very good natural outdoor place for children and family. You can drive your car into the Pick Your Own (PYO) farm. Can just park next to the farm. There are several sections. We went there end of June. It’s perfect time for Cherry and strawberry picking! Sweet and juicy! They provide you a box for pick up and you can check out while you approach the exit! There is a big garden shop selling all related garden products and plants. The cafe inside the shop is amazing! We had an absolutely fantastic day out at the Pumpkin Parade! There were so many incredible pumpkins on display — each one so creative and unique — and endless photo opportunities around every corner. My daughter had the best time, with so many different scenes and games to enjoy; it was magical watching her excitement throughout the day.
The toasted marshmallows over the fire were a real highlight — perfectly gooey and delicious! The whole atmosphere was so fun and family-friendly, with plenty to see and do for everyone.
Overall, a brilliant experience and a day full of laughter, smiles, and autumn magic. We’ll definitely be coming back next year! 🍁✨
Fruits are very tasty and it’s a really nice place to visit. You can even drive your vehicle into the fruit-picking areas, which is very convenient. When we went, a lot of the fruit areas were closed, but we still had a good time. One thing to be aware of: the entrance ticket price (£10 for 4 people tickets) cannot be redeemed against the fruits you pick. Last year they allowed it, but this year they don’t. Overall, still a good experience and worth visiting!

Visited Garsons at the end of September. A lovely, long walk through the fields with clear signs showing what’s ready to pick. Cars are allowed inside, which makes it easier, though as tourists we preferred walking the full route. It was fun learning how to pick and choose our own spinach, carrots, apples, baby tomatoes, cabbage, cauliflower, courgette, and even late strawberries. Peaceful, well-run, and worth the walk.

A Perfect Day Out at Garsons Farm!
My wife and I recently visited Garsons Farm for their Pick Your Own experience, and we absolutely loved it! From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and helpful, making the whole process easy and enjoyable.
The farm itself is beautiful and well-organised, with a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to pick. We had such a great time walking through the fields, filling our baskets, and enjoying the fresh countryside air. Everything we picked was delicious — you can really taste the difference compared to store-bought produce.

Bocketts Farm Park, located just outside of Leatherhead, is a working family farm that offers a fun day out for all ages. My son and niece absolutely loved the place as did the adults. There was plenty to see and do and all the animals looked well cared for. The play areas were clean as were the toilets. The gift shop was reasonably priced had gifts from 25p upwards. The highlight of day for me was the pony rides. My son wanted to do it, but was very anxious. There was a lady called Abbey taking the money who instantly put him at ease and promised to walk round with him. When it was his turn she was so patient, calm and reassuring with him. She helped him on the pony JJ and with another Abbey they walked him round. By the time he had finished he was laughing and had thoroughly enjoyed it. So thank you Abbey! I would definitely return for another day trip.

No Dad on the adventure today but the girls of the family paid a visit to Bocketts Farm with friends.
There is plenty to see and do at the farm and most activities are included. However be prepared to pay a little extra for the tractor or pony rides. The girls enjoyed feeding the animals and exploring the outside playgrounds. One is aimed at the younger children and one at older children. The pig racing is always a highlight at the farm and the girls loved cheering on their coloured pig - a few more flags would have been handy as there were not many to go around.
As with all places of this nature, the shop is a dangerous place for children and has to be passed through to leave!! My two came home with a new cuddly lop eared bunny and a cuddly sausage dog on a lead to add to their vast collections... In fairness they are quite cute.

They have various activities for all the family including feeding the animals, pig race, tractor rides etc. Kids have many play areas to choose from including indoor and outdoor areas. Good washroom facilities and baby changing areas, cafes and dining areas for all the family to enjoy the day!!

The tickets are quite pricey, it was about £45 for both of us but it was worth it. Bear in mind that some activities like tractor rides of riding a ponny are not included in the price.
There are lots of activities for kids of different ages.
We enjoyed seeing and feeding all the animals.
My son really liked the playground, trampoline and the tractor rides. This weekend Bluey was on the site and my son was excited to take picture with him.
I recommend to come early, we arrived before 10.00 and parking was pretty full.
There are few places to eat, we enjoyed the pizza.

Fantastic place for the kids. Huge park area and animal areas as well as petting sessions for them (and the adults!) too. There are places to eat which are a tad pricey but lovely food. They even make their own pizzas! Will definitely be returning again soon, especially for the pig races!
First time we have been today but wish I had known about this sooner. Only found it as was looking for something in between where my grandchildren live and I do. It’s a great farm with so much to do. Lots that is inside if the weather turns bad and lots of things that are differentiated for younger/older children. You can buy animal food for £1.50 a bag. There are tractor and pony rides that cost extra but we didn’t do this as the grandchildren were having so much fun with everything else. Will definitely come back again we all had a great day.

We stayed in the Safari Hotel for 4 nights and had the best time! The room was clean and large which was great as we could put some toys out on the floor for our 14 month old. The one thing that stood out the most was the friendliness of the staff. Every single person we came into contact with from the reception team, cleaners and restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and polite. On the first morning our breakfast was served in the Temple Restaurant and we were greeted by Joanne who blew us away with her attentiveness and thoroughness to show us exactly where everything was. We felt so welcome. The next morning and for the rest of our stay we had breakfast at the Zafari restaurant where Julie looked after us. Julie was AMAZING with our daughter and would make a special effort to come over every morning to check we were okay and play with our daughter. Julie would sing songs and play with her and it really made us feel we were in the right place for our family. Julie is a STAR. We enjoyed 2 days in the park itself and loved every part of it. Seeing the animals was our favourite as this is something we could all do as a family. We had a great stay and will definitely be back. Thank you! 🙂

So much to do for all of the family our age range was 6-11 and there was only 1 ride the 6yr old couldn't go on so if you have thrill seekinging younger ones I would recommend Chessington but also the gruffalo ride and room on a broom we're amazing gentle fun the was perfect for a little (or big) one that doesn't like going too fast.

I’ve been visiting Chessington ever since I was a kid, and now I get to bring my own children here! The park has retained much of its charm from when I was younger. My daughters are 8 and 2, and there are plenty of rides and attractions suitable for both of them to enjoy.
It’s great to see the park continuing to evolve with exciting additions like the Jumanji area and the upcoming Paw Patrol attraction. However, I do feel that some of the older rides could use a bit more attention — we got stuck on the Gruffalo ride, and the Vampire ride (my very first rollercoaster!) was unfortunately closed. I was really looking forward to sharing that nostalgic experience with my daughter.
Overall, Chessington is still a fantastic family day out and a place full of wonderful memories. We’ll definitely be back once the new areas and rides open up!
A very good family theme park. There is a wide variety of attractions, including a good selection of rollercoasters for those wanting rides of the slightly more thrilling type. There are also many younger oriented rides.
Disappointing Experience at Chessington Adventures
I spent around 45 minutes stuck in traffic just trying to get into the park, and then another 30 minutes driving around the car park looking for a space. Even though we paid full price for our tickets, we were only able to go on about 3–5 rides the entire day because of how extremely busy it was.
The signboards claimed the waiting time was 30 minutes, but that’s completely inaccurate — it took at least double that for every ride. The park itself looks nice, but the whole experience was ruined by the endless queues and poor crowd management.
Overall, it was an awful experience and definitely not worth the time or money. I wouldn’t want to visit again.
I visited Chessington World of Adventures today with my family and had a really good time. The weather was lovely, which always helps, and I was impressed with how easy it was to get on the rides. Most of them had little to no queue at all, so we could go straight on, which was fantastic with young children. The kids really enjoyed themselves and there was a nice mix of rides suitable for their ages. On the downside, some of the rides could definitely do with a bit more cleaning and maintenance, as a few looked quite worn. I also noticed a bit of a rat problem near some of the bins, which was unpleasant to see. Overall though, we had a very enjoyable day out and I would recommend it to families, especially if you can go on a quieter day like we did.
Lovely day with the children, my only criticism is the time it takes to get onto the ride, the cost to upgrade is just too much, but the time wasted on getting people off and on I think could be improved to speed things up. The guys in the ticket office were brilliant after some issues with my tickets not coming through they sorted it very quickly.
Chessington is an all rounded place to visit as it both has animals and rides!!! The ride queue time is sometimes long but you get to buy quick access tickets. Sometimes even when the queue was just 5 minutes you had to walk through the long queue path which sometimes can be annoying. The park has something for everyone. Not much choice in food especially if you are health conscious but you get to bring your own picnic. Staff were friendly in the park- not so much in the car park. The refill stations for the cups you can buy for £18 were few and not well sign posted and the ones stationed outside were covered in wasps. The ones in the sweet shop were great!! They also don’t let u refill for ten minutes which was also annoying cos I got a couple of wasps in my first drink!!
The rides were good. The animals look healthy and happy. I had a very good day out here.

Had a good time with family, spent around 2hrs at the venue.kudos to the entire team for excellent crowd control.
Around 80% of the wax statue look stunning and fantastic, rest felt like a dummy one. The special attraction was "Spirit of London" ride, which is a themed taxi ride through the city's history, and not a conventional train ride. The ride uses iconic black cabs to take visitors on a 5-minute journey through London's history and cultural events which also includes wax figures, immersive exhibits, and a 4D cinema.
Had a great time! There’s quite a collection to explore, with some truly fascinating stories, science section and even a few spooky horror rooms.
The organisation and presentation were excellent, and the cable ride through centuries of history was absolutely epic! I didn’t see many staff around, but I didn’t really need any help.
Overall, I had an amazing time and would highly recommend it!

I had an amazing experience at the Madame Tuassads London. I have already been to other places but this one was different. In addition to various wax statues there was a ride which was very beautiful. Also there was 3D show which was star of the whole lot. Would highly recommend even if you have visited other wax museums. Its clean and wait time is not much.
Madame Tussauds was such a fun experience! The wax figures look unbelievably real ,it’s like walking through a celebrity world. The Marvel and Royal Family sections were my favourites. It does get busy, but totally worth it for the photos and the atmosphere.
I was a bit hesitant about going here, if it's really worth the money... And it is!
We enjoyed this interactive experience very much! It's fun and I very much appreciated it is not just the wax figures (which are impressive by themselves), but I was excited about the Marvel 3D experience, the little "taxi" drive through the history of London or the scary horror cellar :)
What was dissapointing was the price of the photos they take for you (25 pounds?!).
But otherwise perfect way to spend a memorable afternoon (at least 3 hours recommended!), totally recommended.

Interesting to be and see inside this storied place. The State Rooms are interesting and the chance to see the royal art collection is a real treat. I also enjoyed the special exhibition of art produced on the King Charles’s travel over the years as well as the throne room. It’s crowded but manageable. I also visited the mews with the carriages and would recommend. My disappointment was the limited access to the garden. The website lists the Royal Gardens as one of the highlights and includes pictures of the rose garden and other select spots. Once on-site I learned that much of the garden, including the roses I hoped to see, is off-limits unless you book a special tour, which were all booked. This is not made clear on the website when booking. Also note that the amount of time they indicate for the palace tour is far too long unless you’re planning to eat in the cafe and do a lot of shopping in the gift shop. I listened to the entire tour and spent time in all of the rooms and it took me 45 minutes or so—they indicate 2 to 2.5 hours. This can be an issue if you are booking multiple timed elements at the palace or tickets elsewhere.
Tickets are not necessary for the changing of the guard. But I recommend standing on the fountain if you cannot get near the fence. You will need tickets for the States room tour. It's well worth with it.
Highly recommend the palace tour as the palace is quite stunning on the inside. Do buy the tickets in advance and show up right in time for your entry because there’s no wait then! The gift shop also has some quality souvenirs so I highly recommend it. Also, the palace gardens were my favourite gardens in London ✨✨✨✨
The palace is absolutely beautiful inside, but no photography. We really enjoyed our visit there. It's is a good bit of walking around but benches to rest on. There is a 20 minutes walk one you get outside to get back out to the main street but once again plenty of benches to rest.
you can feel the history behind the building. A truly wonderful palace, with stunning architecture and beautifully maintained surroundings. Watching the Changing of the Guard adds to the charm, making it a must-see landmark when visiting London.
Visited during the changing of the guard I really didn’t know what I was in for. The crowds and fences were ridiculous and the event was not that impressive to me. I could’ve skipped it and been fine. Because of the event I really didn’t get to see the palace exterior and gates very well due to large crowds and barricades. Unless the changing of the guard is a bucket list thing you really want to see I would recommend not going during that event if you’re wanting to get a good view of the palace.
Strolling by Buckingham Palace with a friend in the afternoon was unforgettable. A lively crowd gathered out front, and to our surprise, the King himself exited! The grand palace looked stunning in the sunlight, and the nearby fountain added to the royal charm. Truly a special moment!
If you are in the vicinity give it a go.

The food was nice and was a generous portion. Overall we had an amazing day would I would happily return.

The road to the zoo is a bit narrow and winding, and driving with the steering wheel on the opposite side made it even more unusual. This is a truly small family-oriented zoo with an interesting selection of animals. Everything was clean and well maintained, and we enjoyed the visit. I was especially excited to see capybaras and meerkats. Personally, it was also fascinating to observe the visitors — many families with two or more children. The food was decent, but because of the strong wind and too many wasps outside, the experience was mixed. Overall, it’s a great place to spend a day with family.
Visited for my daughter’s birthday and it was great all round. The entire place is very well designed and in good condition. We tried food at a few of the outlets and all were good quality tasting food - not amazing but not the typical greasy nonsense you get. It’s good that you can walk around each area multiple times and in different directions so you really feel like you get the most out of your ticket. Price wise was good, about average and like I said there is plenty to do when inside. All the animals we saw looked happy, no concerns there.
A brilliant zoo, I would say one of the best we have visited. It was busy but we didn't feel it, its nicely spread out so you never feel crowded, it was also very clean and tidy. The staff were fantastic, even when doing something they were happy to answer questions on animals, they were all happy, friendly and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. The animals all seemed happy and healthy with a lovely variety. As with all zoos it would be nice to see them with more space. The food was of excellent quality and reasonably priced. Nice to have the mix of animals, the dino trail and parks too.
It is 3.5hours away from us but worth every minute in the car. Would 100% recommend
Great zoo, loved the red panda experience, keeper was very friendly and informative in answering any questions I had. Loved getting to see the two red pandas being introduced to each other. Got good views of the animals, some of the viewing windows were quite wet with condensation which blocked views but not much to be done about that. Lots of kids so was quite noisy but think I came in the school holidays. Only negative was one of the jaguars was pacing around a lot in its enclosure, hopefully it was just waiting for food or something like that and not stressed. Got Uber easily to/from the train station. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
A really good day out. I went with my sister and my two teenagers and we all thoroughly enjoyed our day. The theming, informative signs, viewing areas/platforms and eateries were very good. Of course the wonderful animals were the highlight and I can recommend attending the bird show! At the end of the day we even had a train ride around the dinosaur area for £2 each, which ended the day nicely.
A family favourite. My son was two when we went and he loved the dinosaurs section even though I was worried he was too young, there are some bits that are slightly gruesomely but you can quickly go past them.
It’s good fun and you can then go to the zoo and look at the animals. It’s very well organised and clean. Limited option for food and as with any of these venues, it’s overpriced for the quality you get.
Hertfordshire Zoo is a fantastic family-friendly destination with a great variety of animals and interactive zones. The enclosures are well maintained , highlights include the lions, camels, and alpacas, all easy to view up close. The “World of Animals” and “Tumble Jungle” soft play area add extra fun for kids, with clearly scheduled play sessions. The zoo is clean, well signposted, and offers a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. A perfect day out for families with young children!

At first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to follow the system or get myself lost. Which I did, end up going the wrong way. But it’s actually so easy to follow, it’s good to make a few errors as then you will be conscious of ensuring you’re on the right tube. London Underground is amazing and it is really easy to get around and see places. I would walk around central London. Use the underground when going further afield.
The trains are very regular, you will find they can get very busy, packed. Don’t feel you need to squeeze in, just wait for the next train as it will add to your experience and enjoy it better.
As you would anywhere just be vigilant of your surroundings. I felt very safe, as a solo traveler I was very surprised.
As a visitor, you can’t ask for a better system to get about to major museums, etc. You get to ride with both the working class and executives alike.

This is a good way to get around London. The new trains and updated stations are good. It is easy to get a ticket and to get around. However, the ventilation is poor, horrible, hot, and sweaty. It makes for an unbearable and uncomfortable ride. However, some of the trains and train stations have proper ventilation and air but most do not. I only take one train with no transfers, which is all that I can bear, and walk just to be outside where I can breath easy. I caution you to only ride when necessary and recommend you walk outside if able.
These shops are all closed for good. I could rattle on about the good old days, (people actually pay to hear about it) and a book would be better; it would take a book, pdf, file, whatever to explain how much it has changed. Point?

I'd rather see the old retailers (driven out by sky high rent, business taxes, business rates that the the big corporate retailers. Of course the bureaucracy will point to "no step access" (only lawsuits by disabled brought that in) and there are more lifts (elevators), yes this is better than nothing - - lucky find one lift 20 years ago. The old, dirty, extremely noisy rolling stock in Central London is the same. Recently you could still find "MetroCamell" 1973. John Lennon probably on one.

We only had very limited time in London but this was somewhere we wanted to visit as we wanted to keep our costs low. The museum is free to enter but donations are welcomed.
Firstly, the place is enormous. Various exhibitions are available with literally hundreds of things to look at, probably even thousands.
It goes without saying that the place is very popular and often very busy so if you don't like crowds, do some research about your visit before you go.
We spent a lot of time looking at the Egyptian exhibitions as my wife is very interested in that particular part of history but we did also wander around the Greek, Roman and middle Eastern parts as well.
Both of us agreed that we would come back to visit but would definitely spend a whole day there as we felt rushed.
There are places to grab a drink and a snack inside the museum as well, which is very welcome.
It is worth noting that while backpacks are allowed, luggage is not. The shops nearby do offer a luggage storage solution.

Went on a Thursday in half term time, it was incredibly busy, loads of children! It was still a nice experience for my kids, they loved it.
You need a couple of days to visit the whole museum, especially if you are looking to study anything in particular.
Limited choices on thw food in the food court area and expect London prices but there is also a high end restaurant at the top. Own food and drinks are permitted only in the designated area.
We will definitely come again to see and study other areas.
A Must-see Museum! You can literally feel the history of the world here. It’s free to visit; however, when you think about all the pieces taken away from their motherlands, it does feel a bit bittersweet. :)

Visiting The National Gallery was truly a magical experience.
From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the atmosphere and every room tells a different story through its paintings.
The layout makes it easy to explore, and the colors, details, and emotions in each artwork are breathtaking. It’s not just a museum but it’s a journey through art and history that leaves you inspired and full of wonder.
It was a wonderful experience. The museum has a good collection of Monet and Van Gogh paintings, which I really enjoyed. For just an afternoon, it’s possible to see everything without getting too tired, though you could easily spend a whole day if you want to study the works in detail. We visited on November 17, and there was also a Christmas market outside the museum, which added a very festive atmosphere.
A very spacious series of galleries housing some of the best known images in the international art world. With a restaurant and toilets and plenty of friendly guides you can easily spend a day here, or just pop in and revisit your favourites. It may look daunting from the outside but the new entrance makes the whole place accessible for anyone.
Children of any age will find something to look at and many school trips visit and no they don't disturb the 'grown ups'!
A teashop, restaurant, bookshop and well stocked shop make this a day, or two to remember.
I can say that I love this museum.
Seeing such a collection of paintings for free is just amazing nowadays. There are beautiful paintings in every room. I could spend a day to visit it.
Just do not forged taking a map at the entrance as this is a pretty large museum. French, Spanish, Italian, English, Deutsche… painters from middle age to impressionists. A pretty large collection of Impressionists paintings that can rival with that of Musée d’Orsay in France.
Only the Louvre in France is more impressive (but far from being free) among all painting museums that I visited all other the world (with a special notice for Grenoble and Poitier’s painting museum that are great place to visit too).
The National Gallery, a one place to see history through paintings. As usual this gallery is free for entery and quite big so plan ahead.
You can book free online ticket or walkin. Tube connectivity is there.
Plan to enjoy and take photos from outside squar also. There is a paid washroom available outside.
You get chance to see a lot of historical paintings and know about the artist. Due to limited time I was not able to complete it.

I visited the National Gallery today and absolutely loved it. It’s an absolute must visit place when in London, and you can spend hours wandering from room to room, never running out of things to look at.
One of the highlights for me was seeing some of Monet’s pieces in person, a moment I’ve been looking forward to for so long. Standing in front of his work felt surreal, and it was worth the entire trip on its own. I highly recommend paying the galley a visit, especially because it’s free entry!
If you’re in London, you must visit this place. I stopped by during an 8 hour layover, and even though I couldn’t take my time the way I wanted to, it was absolutely worth it. The collection is stunning, wall after wall of masterpieces you could spend hours admiring. I barely scratched the surface and already felt amazed. I’ll definitely be coming back on a proper trip so I can truly enjoy and appreciate everything this museum has to offer.

It is a religious service of the Anglican church, so you need to feel comfortable with this. It was very moving, and the music within the huge sanctuary was so beautiful.
This is justly famous, and you really do need to see this magnificent church.

My visit to Westminster and Westminster Abbey was one of the most memorable parts of my London trip. Located in the heart of the city near the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, this area is filled with history, architecture, and national heritage. this is That One Church England uses for all a lot of the royal events we see as tourists on the television, so naturally with our luck we missed the royal victory ceremony on the 8th and then got ceremoniously chased out on the day we visited for a diplomatic event. between that and missing the changing of the guard on the same day we should’ve bought a lottery ticket to the West End.
anyway.
what we gleaned of the short time we had there was the massive size of the church. large church with loads of tombs, monuments and graves for notable figures in English and European history including Queen Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots were all laid there. Monuments to Darwin, Shakespeare and the Bronte Sisters were also scattered on the floor and in the Poets’ Corner. the free audio guides offered were super helpful with offering context for a lot of the abbey’s sprawling tombs and areas.
we sped run this with the audio guide because 😀 diplomatic event, but still had time to appreciate the architecture and grandeur, especially of the nave and coronation area. stained glass was gorgeous too. note that you’re not supposed to take videos in here.
staff were still nice when we asked them about why we were being so nicely shoved out of the church we paid full price for, but WE FELT THAT COULDVE BEEN SAID EARLIER? as previously clarified this took place in May so—might’ve been a one off thing.
lastly. the gift store is HIGHLY entertaining do visit
Beautiful building with a lot to see inside especially for history enthusiasts. I would recommend booking in advance which will give you a time slot for entry. We still had to wait despite having the designated time so be prepared (we waited about 45 mins). It's worth it though to see everything. I also found the audio guide helpful for filling in context on everything. The optional upper floors are worth it too as they have great views looking down as well as some fascinating antiques.
No visit to London is complete without seeing Westminster Abbey. This magnificent Anglican church has hosted every British coronation for nearly 1,000 years and serves as the resting place of monarchs, writers, scientists, and national heroes. It’s also been the setting for many royal weddings and state funerals. A true World Heritage Site! Book tickets in advance and allow plenty of time to take it all in. Highly recommended!!
I visited Westminster Abbey for the first time at age 50, coinciding with the 44th Independence Service for Antigua and Barbuda. Despite a cold, rainy English day, stepping inside was incredible.
The detail throughout the Abbey is breathtaking, and it was impeccably clean. The staff—ushers and clergy—were professional, respectful, and welcoming, always guiding visitors with a smile. One of the clergy even cracked a few jokes, showing their sense of humour and humanity.
Westminster Abbey is a beautiful, top-notch cathedral in London. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
The Abbey is an amazing place to visit, however the ticket is expensive for a live church. We booked a tour guide with church verger for a tenner which was a great tour and Kat provided lots of interesting info about the abbey. We also visited the Queen’s diamond gallery, accessible through Weston Tower. O stall we had a great time.

The climb is 334 steps up a narrow spiral staircase with just a simple metal railing, so this is not an experience for those with mobility issues or severe fear of heights. The first stretch is about 110 steps, with the rest broken into slightly shorter climbs and two rest stops along the way. Windows are few and far between, so you won’t have many chances to look outside during the climb.
At the top, you’ll visit the belfry and see the Great Bell — Big Ben itself — up close. You’ll be there as the clock strikes the hour, with protective ear coverings provided to save your hearing from the thunderous chimes. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at the clock mechanism and stand behind the famous clock faces before beginning the descent, which is once again split into sections with rest stops.
Lockers are provided for your belongings, as nothing may be carried with you, and open-toed shoes are not allowed. The guides are fantastic — full of history, fun facts, and fascinating details about the tower and its clock.

Absolutely love London. And Big Ben is a must see / visit. It has been beautifully restored and looks grand as it should. Right next to the houses of Parliament and across from Westminster Abbey just down the road from Buckingham Palace. And then there is number 10. Definitely make time to go to this iconic land Mark.

Visited Big Ben while in London. Did you know its official name is the Elizabeth Tower, renamed in 2012 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee — but everyone still calls it Big Ben. The London Eye offers some of the best views in the city—360° panoramas of the Thames, Big Ben, and the skyline. The ride is smooth and lasts long enough to really enjoy the scenery. Queues can get a bit long during peak hours, but they move quickly and are well-organized. Staff were friendly and the capsules were clean and comfortable. Definitely worth it, especially around sunset!
I’ve been wanting to take the kids on The London Eye for a while but I’m glad I waited until they were older otherwise I think they would have got bored after a while!
We came during the summer holidays so the weather was nice and the views were beautiful.
I pre booked for the best ticket prices and to take advantage of the £20 per adult and £18 per child special offers.
We enjoyed it and the kids were able to spot famous buildings which was fun 😁
The only let down was that there were alot of us in our cabin as we were grouped up with a large family with limited seating so after a while of standing i had to sit on the poles due to issues with my knee and the kids sat on the floor.
It was a busy day and I think the staff filled the cubicle to capacity
This is something to bear in mind for those that may have ailments or disabilities where they need to sit down.
Other than that it is worth the visit, we didn’t wait long in the queue and they also take pictures and give you a card with a QR code which can be scanned so you can purchase the pictures after your ride which is nice 😊

The London Eye is an interesting experience that I was glad that I went on, but I am not sure if I would recommend. It offers great views of the city but I understand that The Shard and Sky Garden also can do this. Heck, the coffee shop at Tate Modern also has great views and it is free to go up.
We had booked a time and were waiting for our slot, when we arrived 15 minutes early to join an extremely long queue. I was very surprised how quickly the line went and we actually boarded the ride at our allocated time. I suspect if we arrived early (within reason), we could have got on sooner rather than waiting around. Getting on and off was easy, even though the ride didn't stop. The entire trip lasted about 30 minutes and was very relaxing. Obviously the views were great, but I `think that I would have spent less time if I had gone up the Shard or Sky Garden, as the ride seemed to trudge along. The are definitely opportunities to get discounted tickets: book online or in the visitor centre or with the London Pass. Since the line went quick, I wouldn't pay extra for a fast path.

Walking near Tower Bridge is honestly one of the nicest things to do in London, especially if you’re trying to escape the busy streets without leaving the city. The view is unreal – you’ve got the bridge itself, which looks straight out of a postcard, the river Thames calmly flowing, and plenty of spots to just sit and chill.
There’s something peaceful about hearing the water and watching the boats go by, even when there are tourists around. At sunset, the whole area lights up in warm colours and it feels kinda magical. It’s also surprisingly clean and safe, even in the evening.
Loads of nice little cafes and street food stalls around if you fancy a bite, and the walk towards the south bank or down to St Katharine Docks is worth it too. You get a mix of old-school charm and modern city vibes. Would definitely recommend it for a date, a solo unwind walk, or just to take some beautiful photos.

The Tower Bridge is a great stop if you're in the nearby area, and provides about 30min to 1 hour diversion. Combined with the free audio tour, great views complete with partial glass floor in one section, historic awe of the building process, and gift shop at the end - I would highly recommend if you're in the area.
There are lifts for the tower, but I suggest/recommend you take the stairs getting some insight, facts and touch of history on the way up and down. There are benches to rest, toilets but no Air Con for most of it, however fans throughout provide plenty of relief - 84 degrees and it never felt sweltering inside.
Learn how the bridge was designed, constructed and changes over the years - in particular the engine room videos and presentation on divers were really great.
And whenever you're done walk along the Thames River path near the wharf and grab a bite to eat.

Had a group of 9 for the whole raft, unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you see it, one person at the helm doesn’t paddle. This position can rotate between within your group, which might be a good thing, so you can take a break because this was a tiring activity for sure. Great fun though!
This sports venue is truly delightful. It’s such a pleasure to watch the determination of those battling the powerful water and waves, whether in team boats or individual kayaks. I genuinely enjoy the atmosphere here, and I try to visit once or twice a week. The café adds to the charm—coffee on cold days and beer on warm ones. Fantastic place to practice your open water and white water rafting skills there is an equipment hire area on site so you dont need to bring your own gear, ample parking the largest car park is just 100 yards from the entrance.
Staff are super friendly, there is a cafe on site too with inside or outside (on balcony) seating.
The road leading to the place is only a normal 30 mph road and it gets busy quickly so try and give yourself plenty of time to get there.

Beautiful National Trust house and gardens. The trails are all pushchair/wheelchair friendly and there is so much to do and see. The wildflower garden is amazing and the café and facilities are all very good. I recommend going early as the car park filled up quickly.
Beautiful walk we took the orange route which took 2 hours with the 7 year old in toe but was an easy stroll . All dog owners were respectable and put their dogs on leads before crossing our path. My cane corso is very anxious and still in training it was a very stress free walk . Parking was free and plenty to see . I let my boy take the photos . So this what was seen by a 7 year old

lovely garden to wander around. all the NT staff was lovely. went on the free guided walk and learnt a lot. the two cafés are quite busy but remain cozy and the food is delicious. loved the shop as well with a wonderful selection of trinkets, festive souvenirs and national trust items.

We were a small group of 8, so plenty of opportunities to ask as many questions as we liked. The tour allowed access to many of the buildings and structures that you only see from afar on the tractor tour. For anyone with an interest in military history, explosives, or industrial architecture l’d highly recommend this tour. Many thanks to the guides for giving us their time.
Fantastic day at the Gunpowder Mills. Greeted before entry by welcoming volunteers. The site is huge with attractions and information. We made a rocket and launched it which was fun. The tractor was great with a very informative guide. The volunteer who gave us the talk in the rocket vault was exceptionally good. We went on the miniature train and the bigger train where we saw more of the site. There is so much to see and do here. Our visit was four hours and worth every penny of the entrance fee. Looking forward to booking a walking tour when they are organised.
I had been recommended the Royal Gunpowder Mills by a friend, and with the kids now a slightly bit older we decided it would be worth a try. It's only open to visitors a couple of times a month on a Sunday, and on our visit from 11am to 4pm.
We got there at 11am as it opened, there is a big sign as you come off the main road, but the site is located at the end of the drive once you have driven past all the housing. Car park is a fair size, and the entrance is located to the right once you have got into the car park.
Once you have gone in, it's probably worth getting yourself booked on to the tractor ride. It leaves at specific times. We went straight towards the miniature railway which took us up the site to the gunpowder mill railway. Again, there are some set timings for this, but when we got there we pretty much had the train to ourselves. The railway takes passengers for a ride further up the site, stops and then comes back again. We managed to see the deer as well as bits of the site. The guys running the railway did a fab job at showing us all about the railway, and even let the young 'uns sit in the main cab.
The tractor ride was incredibly informative and really gave a good idea of how big the place truly is (massive!) and how much history is here (loads!) Again you get to see the deer, and lots of the old buildings - lots of areas are covered in greenery where nature has taken over. The kids were also given a sheet of things to look out for on the journey.
At lunch we popped back to the car to get our picnic and sat at the benches next to the play area (obstacle course / zip line). There is an area where you can get a free tea / coffee - as well as toilets if required. Post lunch, we went to create some rockets and had a little competition to see who's rocket could go the furthest - kids enjoyed this! (Well, the adults did too!)
After the rockets, we went to look around the exhibition and armoury. Lots to read here, and kids did do a few little interactive games (mixing the substances at the factory etc.) but they weren't quite so keen to stand and read! The armoury was literally a room full of different guns, rifles etc.
When we came out of the exhibition, we just had time to have another trip on the railway. The volunteers were great and radio'd up to ensure we would catch it on time! Once our second trip on the railway was finished it was closing time... we had been there all day!
We thought the dedication and hard work by the volunteers was great - we even thought about volunteering ourselves, but it's a bit of a journey away! (Although if they ever do a family volunteering day where the kids can get involved, we would certainly consider it!!)
If you want to learn about the history of gunpowder and explosives, The Royal Gunpowder Mills provides a fascinating day out. In many respects, this is the place where it all started. Our tractor guide was quite knowledgeable and provided interesting insight. The Mills is run completely by volunteers. As the MOD has been involved in siphoning off material, it's too bad the MOD doesn't promote it as the volunteers care dearly and they can use some help.
I visited with my two children and another family, on an open day during the summer holidays. There were varied activities for the kids (rocket making/launching, tie dying, slime making and nature crafts) as well as the train that runs further up along the grounds. It was a really nice day out without the extensive crowds that you often find with children’s activities in the holidays! When booking the tickets I noticed that numbers were capped quite low so I can’t imagine it would ever be uncomfortably busy.
Having a mixture of fun activities for children alongside the educational side of the small museum and exhibitions was a good balance. They particularly enjoyed role playing in the village shop with ration books! I would say the open day activities etc are probably most suited for children under 10 (which all of ours were).
We also saw some beautiful deer and the children enjoyed the playground as well. Everything was staffed by volunteers (I think) giving up their time to run it.
Drinks and snacks in the cafe were very well priced - i bought ice lollies for 5 children for barely more than the price you’d pay for one at an ice cream van!! We brought a packed lunch with us as suggested on the website - I don’t think there is much in the way of food other than snacks available in the cafe.
All in all a nice day out, something a bit different and easy to drive to and park.

I took the walking tour today. Absolutely brilliant experience! We started in the cafe with a tea/coffee before heading out in a small group with the volunteers. They really knew so much about the site and were so passionate about its history that it was a real pleasure to listen to. Look out for the wildlife too- we saw lots of deer around!

I've been visiting Tilgate Park for many years and always have an enjoyable walk, whatever the weather. The walled garden is well kept and always worth a visit. Bought a cake from the cafe to takeaway which was yummy and homemade; although it's not always open so best to check before visiting/ relying on it being open for lunch/ snacks. There are features to see around the park and there are activities if you want to do them. Generally a lovely place to explore
My family and I had a wonderful experience with dinosaurs in the park, and my children love it! Their playground was a nice to play and lovely view of Tilgate Park. Stall foods were there and ride as well. It is good and fun for the May half term bank holiday weekend. 🦕☀️😍
For every age groups there this park has a place for them . Whether you enjoy a dog walk or sit and view birds or ducks on the lake or play with kids . Cafe shops are good .

Massive grounds with something for everybody; lakeside and woodland walks, a zoo, children's play atea and a couple of cafes - we visited the walled garden cafe.
The grounds are dog-friendly and there is plenty of space for families and picnics.
We stayed with family and they took us to this park. Beautiful park to visit and see. They had a dinosaur theme and fair, great for the kids. Definitely worth it if you’re in that area.
Gorgeous open spaces. Their playground is huge. Boats to go on the lake are severely over priced so avoided those. Lovely day out.

Visited this farm back in April and it was a wonderful experience, so beautiful seeing so many tulips of different species. It's a huge field full of plants. There is a shop and stalls selling drinks and food.
The only negative aspect it's a very touristy attraction so it was a bit crowded. We visited during the weekend maybe during the week is better.

Gorgeous day at the Tulip Fest in April. Got there very early whilst it was quiet and we were shocked by how massive it was and how much there was to do! The tulips were gorgeous and so impressive. Great food and information everywhere, friendly staff and lots to do and see!
Amazing Autumn Atmosphere!
This pumpkin farm offers an absolutely amazing experience that goes far beyond simple pumpkin picking. The overall environment is welcoming, festive, and truly captures the spirit of the season. What truly elevates this spot is the phenomenal attention to detail in the spooky decoration. It's clear a huge effort was made to create a fun, slightly eerie atmosphere, providing fantastic photo opportunities at every turn.
From hay bales to haunted props, the decor makes this the ultimate autumnal destination. The selection of gourds was plentiful, and the staff were wonderful. Highly recommended for a memorable, festive, and wonderfully creepy fall It was amazing 👏 I like the environment and spooky decoration!
I went pumpkin picking, and it turned out to be the perfect autumn activity. The atmosphere was festive and full of Halloween spirit, making it a wonderful place to visit during the season. It was such a fun and memorable experience!
Pleasant few hours spent picking pumpkins and toasting marshmallows with the kids. Most of the 'growing' pumpkins had already gone, but plenty more had been shipped in and were dotted around the field to select from. Lots of different varieties also available from the stores if you don't fancy pushing a wheelbarrow around the field! Didn't fancy the Ferris wheel, but probably provides great views if you don't mind heights.
Decided to relive my teenage nostalgia and return to Shocktober for the first time in seven years. Previously it was the place to go and made for a tremendous experience. This time round, it's sadly lost its touch.
Massively oversold and overcrowded, it's clear profit is put before experience whereas it once was the other way round. Thankfully I’d purchased some fast track in advance as queue times were obscene. Even still, I had to queue for 10/15 mins in fast track lanes at times.
Pros -Purgatory was quality and my favourite of all time. "Free Roaming" actors like the Skinfluencers were very funny and entertaining. Set design was absolutely fantastic as always.
Cons - Far too many people allowed into haunts at a time/with too little time between groups. You'd either be caught up by the group behind or catchup the one infront. This KILLED the immersion and enjoyment massively.
The flouting of their own rules was not enforced? There are clear rules that say no smoking/vaping, no face masks etc yet I saw people lighting up in the queues and a fair few road men in their finest bin bag attire (to impress their underage girlfriend) walking round ballied up like they've just robbed a bank. I know it's close proximity to Crawley but come on now...
Better still was “security” where only those with a bag would be searched. If you hadn’t a bag, you were free to walk in with whatever you fancied! Knife? Acid in a lucozade bottle? Drugs? Must be part of your costume eh lad. Maybe that’s a critique due to my line of work but it did feel a bit pointless.
All in all a shadow of its former self. I still had fun however and glad I returned, but think this'll be the last trip full stop. Kudos to the actors and event staff, they all work hard and probably for minimum wage. Sadly I don’t think the experience will be salvageable unless they actually cap ticket numbers drastically.
We had such a fantastic afternoon at Tulleys Farm. From the beautiful fall decor, the very large pumpkin patch, the roaming singers and cast in costume to the marshmellow roast stations (or smores station as they sell a kit too), pumpkin spice latte and ferris wheel we could only have a great time. We got to pick our own pumpkins straight from the patch and carry them in a wheelbarrow made available by the team who was nothing but welcoming. Can't carry big pumpkins home ? Fear not their collection of pumpkin plush toys will definitely call your name. If coming from London, you can either take the bus or more easily take a taxi as there are some available there just waiting to get you home safe. We will definitely make it a yearly tradition !
Shocktoberfest was excellent. Live bands, loads of scary things to do.
The sacare mazes were great.
Loads of different food stands and bars. The ste is absolutely huge, with a great atmosphere.
We will definitely be going again.

On the goats you have to put the food into a little tray then crank this machine up and the tray goes on a conveyer to the goat enclosure. The cafe had gorgeous food! Highly recommend the jacket potato! Nice big portions!

Nice place for a family day out! We arrived just after opening and it was calm and not too busy, but by the time we left around 1pm it had gotten quite crowded—so going early is best. Plenty to do for little ones, with a huge playground, soft play, and lots of animals to see.
We recently had a fantastic family trip to Godstone Farm, visiting with my wife and our 4-year-old. Having pre-booked our tickets, entry was smooth and easy. Though it was a little cool, the day was thankfully dry, with sunny spells, making for a perfect environment to explore the grounds.
The site is lovely and incredibly well-managed. We spent a great day just taking it easy and navigating the whole site using the provided maps. The low crowd level was a massive bonus, as it meant we could move at our own pace without feeling rushed, which was ideal with a four-year-old in tow.
The highlight for our little one was getting to feed the animals. We bought food bags and visited the various feeding locations around the site—watching our 4-year-old interact with the animals was a treat and made his day.
On the facilities front, we were impressed. The family toilets were nice and clean and clearly set up with every amenity you could need for babies and toddlers.
We also got an unexpected extra treat! Our child was thrilled to meet and take pictures with Paw Patrol’s Chase and Skye, which was a lovely surprise.
Godstone Farm excels in its play offerings. The soft play barn was excellent, offering well-thought-out sections for all age ranges. Our little one stayed happily on the ground level and had a fantastic time. Similarly, the outdoor play area was also excellent, with lots of sections to keep them engaged.
We found the main food place to be good too. There are loads of benches and seats to eat your own food or use their own restaurant.
The selection of items was fairly small, it still offered enough variety to suit most people, including hot food, cold snacks, teas, coffees, and ice creams. My only minor niggle was that there was no Tartar sauce for my fish and chips...had to make do work a bit of vinegar.
Our visit to Godstone Farm was a very nice experience as a family, and we highly recommend it!
I would say a must visit for a day out with family. It has almost everything that your children might need. You can see animals around while walking, playground for children, soft play and many other things. You can walk along with pond with your loved one.
we went as a family for Halloween and the kids both 4 had an amazing time. It wasn't very busy. the staff were really interactive with them and showed them some animals up close and personal. the food was reasonably priced and tasted great. Some of the highlights for both were the play areas. The pig racing and feeding of various animals around the farm. We've been before and would go again as there always seems to be something new or something we missed the last time.
Took my eldest here lots when she was younger and now took the one year old and the 7 year old. Ticket prices are not cheap but ok if you are there for a few hours then it's worth it. Nice they now do feeding for some animals as the children loved this. The animals are so accessible and easy to see which again is good for young children. Great new indoor soft play area too. Kids had a brilliant day. Will be going back soon.

As the name suggest, it is a farm, so plenty of farm animals and even a reptile section and pig race! Some indoor and outdoor play. Lovely walks and trails. Good cafe and snacks too.

We had a wonderful experience in Godstone farm on the day of🎆🎇 mini-firworks. Although it was raining 🌧 when we arrived but it didn't stop us to have so much fun. We saw some animals, our kids went to the softplay then we went out and saw the fire-act🔥 until the fire works 🎇🎆started and it was amazing. We will be back again next year if there's another one. 👍👍👏👏

Borde Hill Garden is a beautiful and peaceful place to wander — not huge, but thoughtfully designed with a lovely variety of themed areas, flower beds, and open lawns. Each section feels different, and there’s plenty of charm to take in if you enjoy a relaxed stroll surrounded by nature.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t great during my visit, which made it harder to appreciate the views fully, but it’s easy to imagine how stunning it must be on a sunny day. The grounds are well kept, and there’s a café and plant shop nearby to round off the visit.
Spent an enjoyable two hours. Had a cider in the garden cafe, wandered through the diverse gardens and woodland, and found a couple of interesting books at the secondhand cabin. Cycled here and there are plenty of stands at the end of the car park close to the entrance. Note that the only route is along Borde Hill Lane, which might be a challenge for less confident cyclists.
Beautiful garden to explore. Easier than you think to get there by foot. Cafe had delicious scones and the shop was excellent with good value plants.
A garden of rooms, many of which embrace the landscape beyond which is lovely.
There is a fantastic woodland walk and I imagine lots of flowers in the summer.
It’s not what I would call a destination garden more one to revisit during different months if you live near by.
The Halloween decorations felt very intrusive but I imagine it’s a money spinner.
The cafe is pretty but very limited food options.
We had a 15 minute wait to get in as someone was buying a membership.
They were having to loudly annunciate all their personal details which took ages and a problem easily resolved by filling in a form.
Lovely visit today!!! Weather was just right. We had lovely coffee to take away and enjoyed a walk and used the map we were given. Helpful staff and gardens so beautiful and suggest a visit to anyone who hasn't yet visited. Child friendly so good for families.

We had crustless quiche with salad, that was dressed sublimely. Plus a mix of the potato salad and the spelt salad. The charred vegetables were delicious.

A great visit to Borde Hill Garden near Haywards Heath, East Sussex. We spent about 3 hours wandering around looking at the beautiful plants and flowers. The house is not open to the public as the owners live there.

Wakehurst botanical garden is a great place to take your dog(s) for a walk. There are several routes you can choose from, we usually take the long round trip. There are some no dog zones but there is plenty to explore where you can take your dog.
There is a big field which is an off lead area for doggies, full of smells to sniff.
If you come without dogs, I recommend visiting the mansion, the water gardens and the wetland walk around the lake.
We have been here in different seasons but there is always something to see or a different route to explore.
Highly recommended.
Great facilities as well, plenty of parking, toilets in different places and two cafes to choose from.

A stunning wild botanical garden. Really awe inspiring and thoughtfully planted. Fun for children and adults, my daughter enjoyed the mud kitchen and having fun amongst the trees. Cafe was quite expensive so will bear that in mind for our next visit. Plenty of spaces to have a picnic.
Gorgeous site, especially in autumn. Lovely for walks, they have a nice gift shop too. Cafe serves delicious vegetarian and vegan options. The mud kitchen is fantastic for kids.
My daughter & I hadn't been to Wakehurst for quite a long time. I had forgotten just how beautiful it is here. We walked farther than usual and got to enjoy some of the most beautiful parts. Although be warned, when the map says it's a steep hill, it's truly steep 🤣 We certainly got out workout in!!
The staff are lovely too, very helpful.
It was reasonably busy for a Sunday but not overcrowded at all.
We'll definitely return soon no doubt.

Great botanical garden with a variety of views. I would highly recommend visiting the Himalayan glade and pond. Do be aware that the blooms vary quite a lot between seasons, so you may not get to see the same as my images. Good restaurant with reasonable options and prices on site. Ice cream van with good selection too.
Probably the most amazing gardens I have ever been to! It was very impressive and large and every single part was beautiful. We spent hours looking around in the sunshine and had a great day! So much to see!
This sister to Kew Gardens is a fine place to spend a few hours wandering around the wooded estate and the attractive small mansion house. Notwithstanding the importance of the scientific and conservation carried out by the Millenium Seedbank, for many visitors the main attractions are the walking trails through the over 500 acre wooded countryside, featuring some of the world's most magnificent trees. These include a substantial number of the world's most massive tree, the giant Californian Redwood, which, despite their relative youth, have already ready reached an impressive 36 meters, and, not to be missed, are the weirdly drooping freaks of the same species. Children up to 16yoa have free entry, adults are £18.50 and young people are 50% of the adult rate. Car parking additional. Hot and cold food at the Stables Kitchen Restaurant and cafes. It is not cheap, but it is a great day out for the whole family.
