Midland Air Museum

Specialty Museums
The Midland Air Museum, located at Coventry Airport, is an open-air museum that showcases a remarkable collection of British and international post-war aircraft. The museum features two hangars and a grassy space, including the Frank Whittle Jet Heritage Centre named after the inventor of the first turbojet engine. Visitors can explore iconic aircraft such as the Vulcan bomber, Sea Harrier, MiG-21, Panavia Tornado, Avro Vulcan, and more.
Really interesting air museum. There is tons of stuff to see and read. You'd need hours to check it all out. Outside aircraft collection is brilliant. You can even go up a set of steps into the Vulcan cockpit. Very interesting chat with the retired GP about the plane. I didn't know there was a 4th V Bomber, the Sperrin. You learn something every day. If you're a plane nerd, go and see this museum. Also, it has the biggest collection of model planes I've ever seen, probably in their 1000s. Great place, lots of books, and hundreds of Airfix models for sale. For £10 entry and £4 for a guidebook, it's a bargain and 2 or 3 hours well spent learning. I'm a lightning nerd, sorry. The Starfighter was my highlight though. Well done to all the staff.
Michael P — Google review
Spent a very pleasant day exploring the museum and outside exhibit’s. A few of the aircraft were suffering from the elements but apart from this (there were some guys working on the aircraft though) I throughly enjoyed my time there. Can recommend the Vulcan cockpit experience as well.
Colin H — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit, the aircraft they have here are really special but I think they are missing a trick. This is a museum of the cold war jets and Britain's excellence in the field from end of the war onwards. It should be presented as such in line with the excellent 'Cold war Hot Jets' documentary. It's a great collection of really interesting aircraft, from different air forces that reflects that but they should double down on that focus. Being able to sit in a meteor cockpit was a thrill.
Ben N — Google review
Thank you for a great couple of hours here on Monday. The museum has parking and easy to find. A vast museum that sprawls outside with lots to see and do. Only one plane was open to get into today. Inside the museum there are some very informative displays and exits that I learnt a great deal. I overheard a conversation between a member of staff and a visitor, and the passion for what the museum stands for was very evident. Great job to all of you.
G — Google review
A great collection of cold war aircraft, and a worthy memorial to Sir Frank Whittle, the inventor of the British jet engine. The book/model shop is well stocked and the canteen has a very reasonable menu, on top of that the staff are both knowledgeable and friendly. If you like air museums this is a must see collection to tick off your list.
Mike S — Google review
This museum is more about history of aeroplanes used by military. The youngest plane in the museum is probably the Harrier. It is still an interesting place to visit especially with the children. You have the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of some planes. You can get inside a B-2 Nuclear bomber with a guided explanation. There is plenty of parking, clean toilets, cafe and a gift shop. The staff were friendly. The tickets are reasonable priced and the whole tour can be done in 2 hours.
ProGamer A — Google review
Lots to see, the outdoor bit was bigger than expected. You can go in the Vulcan but we didn’t as there was quite a queue. Very interesting museum and wasn’t too busy on bank holiday Monday! £10 each to enter I believe
Emily T — Google review
A good place for aviation (largely military) enthusists with a large collection of post-war aircraft, though some in poor condition. An old style, low key museum packed with large numbers of exhibits including many aircraft and tank models. A highlight was climbing inside the Vulcan cockpit but this visit wasn't well publicised. A good model and book shop and a small café.

Superb location for day outs, picnics, walks, dog walks, nature lovers, kids, and families. Miniature train ride is highlight for kids and even for adults. Bikes and tri cycles can be rented to enjoy various trails. A must visit . Good pay and display car park is available. Reasonable prices.
Kalyan S — Google review
You need to book to do pound dipping and pay £5.50 to let the kids look for bugs in a 40cm deep pond. Not wort the visit anymore . Not to mention you pay parking too. . Was one of my favourite country park but not anymore . Nothing free in England for children anymore. And we wonder why kids stay all day inside and play video games

It's very calm and peaceful spot for your family day out. 4 big trails to explore. Massive lake 2 big cafes. If your lucky you might find a snake!!

Stoneleigh Abbey

Architectural Buildings
Stoneleigh Abbey, located in Warwickshire, is a 900-year-old stately home with a rich history and connections to Jane Austen. The estate features an early-19th-century landscape garden and park designed by Humphry Repton, covering about 365 hectares. Visitors can explore the historic house through guided tours offered from Easter to October, including specific tours focusing on general history and Jane Austen's connection to the abbey.
We visited Stoneleigh Abbey on Wednesday 05.03.25. The gardens were neat and well kept. Had the tour of the beautiful house with tour guide Hugo. His knowledge of the property and its history was outstanding. Popped into the Vaulted Hall for afternoon tea. Everything was delicious and the service was slick and polite. Would recommend a visit to anyone.
PeterK — Google review
We had a wonderful tour of the house - the tour guide was passionate, knowledgeable, and funny and we learned so much! It's nice that there is a cafe on site and the estate and grounds are so beautiful. Very rich history and although the tour lasts an hour it flew by and we were engaged the whole time. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Kathryn S — Google review
Lovely building with a fascinating story and vast fields to wonder around in. We visited on a Monday morning and joined the tour at 11, so it was only the two of us with the tour guide! The history of the place was made even more interesting by the animated style of storytelling and interesting facts included in the recount. After the tour, we had a cup of coffee and a slice of cake in the tearooms in the bottom of the building which also features a small collection of world war memorabilia and information on the role the Abbey played. Really recommend!
Laura F — Google review
Lovely day out. Grounds were beautiful, and the tour guide was really knowledgeable and friendly with everyone. Afternoon tea was tasty as service was very good. Lady on the reception when buying tickets was a bit miserable and appeared shocked that I wanted to buy a full ticket, which was odd. This is the reason for dropping a star only. Dogs are not allowed on the grounds, which is a shame. Understand not in the house but the grounds they could be.
Nadia F — Google review
Pleasantly surprised: The reason I have said pleasantly surprised is because approx 2 years ago we had a poor Afternoon Tea in the orangery. However, things have definitely changed as my partner and I have just had the loveliest day with thanks to a Wowcher gift voucher. We started off in the tea room with a delicious and freshly made afternoon tea followed by a stroll around the grounds. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable throughout our visit.
Paula — Google review
Was treated to an afternoon tea experience here by a friend for my birthday. It was perfect, the staff were all absolutely incredible making sure we were topped up on coffees and great hospitality all round, nothing was too much trouble, food was delicious and was everything you could’ve wanted for an afternoon tea. Tea room was lovely and cool on a very warm day and there was a lift for me and my pram. The grounds are beautiful and was very quiet! We enjoyed exploring before filling up on scones & cakes! Only thing to note is there are steps scattered around so someone with disabilities might struggle but it’s a wonderful place.
A — Google review
Firstly, I did not opt for the combined house and garden ticket but took the gardens only. Why? Because you have to take a guided tour of the house which I rarely want under any circumstances when I am out and about and certainly, I could see no reason why I had to be part of a group at Stoneleigh. I have no objection to viewing clocks, plasterwork, portraits of worthy folk, rapiers, china, etc but I do like to do it at my own pace and in my own company when asked for £8 entrance fee. So, I paid £8 for the grounds only. The River Avon sweeps graciously past the house. It is lovely. The house is a bit of a brute, impressing but not overly impressive. The orangery is elegant, the walks charming much in the way I am sure Jane Austen found them charming. It is interesting that Jane A modelled Mansfield Park, her most social ànd oppressive novel, on Stoneleigh. I also noted that while the river, managed by weirs and sluices to glide by, was home to swans, a cormorant, geese, damsel flies etc, I saw no fish despite perching over railings and balustrades for many minutes. Indeed parts of the river looked dead. The tea room is fine but a bit quaint as were the clientele when I was there. Finally, for some reason, I couldn't help wondering how many slaves had to be transported and sold to pay for all this building and landscaping. I don't know why I asked this. I am not usually so radical. Perhaps it was because, as I said, the actual building is a bit of an imposing brute and that made me ask why, how, wherefore? So, a mixed review but if you are in the area and have the time, do visit. It is a fine example of the English idyll.
John H — Google review
Highly reccomend visiting here, such beautiful grounds. I went for the afternoon tea with my mum, the staff were so so welcoming, the food so scrumptious and the setting totally idyllic! We will be back, thank you.

Vintage Trains offers a delightful journey through time, showcasing the charm of steam travel in Birmingham, England. At the heart of this experience is Tyseley Locomotive Works, formerly known as the Birmingham Railway Museum. This vibrant site not only serves as a museum but also functions as an active engineering center dedicated to restoring and maintaining vintage steam engines. One of the standout experiences is riding on the Shakespeare Express, which takes passengers from Birmingham to Stratford-upon-Avon.
Fabulous day out. The timing of the train works really well. We left Burton-on-Trent at a leisurely 11am and were back before 7pm. Quite thrilling to power along the mainline at 60+ mph; a welcome change from the usual trundle on a preserved line. Staff could not have been nicer.
John W — Google review
Travelled on the Shakespeare Express from Derby to Stratford-upon-Avon in Pullman Class. The engine was immaculate, and the Pullman Carriage and seating was very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming, personable, and quick to deal with any requests. The breakfast on the way to Stratford, and the Afternoon Tea on the return were excellent and plentiful. The only minor negative was the service on board was not as smooth as it could’ve been. We tried to order wine twice but no one came to take the order, no napkins with the meals, and at one point coffee came round but no tea. However, overall it was a lovely trip, and we are looking to book again.
G W — Google review
What an amazing experience. Staff were warm and welcoming, service of afternoon tea brilliant. I loved every minute and will definitely be booking again. When I saw the Shakespeare Express, the inner child of this 49 yrs old woman squealed with excitement.
Karen B — Google review
What an experience. It's like a taste of history, transported back in time. Get down there.

Don't bother complaining - they promise to get back to you but never do, apart from sending out a survey for which you never get a feedback. I really did give the company the opportunity to respond privately before going public Having now spent a lot of money with this company on three trips; first trip had no complaint although my companian ,; second one was to Portsmouth where we had a VERY sarcastic steward who could just not get his head around the fact that we really did not want a five course evening meal starting at
Christine B — Google review
Amazing day out on the Shakespeare Express from Birmingham to Stratford On Avon. Booked a table for two on the Pullman class, well worth the price paid. Breakfast was hot & drinks were served quickly and effortlessly, and the quality of ingredients was second to none! The afternoon teas was just perfect, sandwiches were fresh and pastries were warmed and scones were lovely and soft. Staff were very friendly and attentive and it really did make for an enjoyable experience.

Cannot fault the customer service for Vintage Trains. Extremely thoughtful and accommodating when thinking of a disabled person's needs. Very friendly and helpful on the phone. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Had a lovely (but really long) day on the train, with a stop in Cardiff for lunch. Staff are all really friendly, and prices for tea & coffee on the train are very reasonable. We took my dad for his birthday, and he enjoyed it very much.

First time going, without a doubt the best castle I’ve been too and seen and I’ve seen many castles! So rich in history and well kept, amazing architecture structures and beautiful gardens that even a peacock roams freely! The kids loved the peacock and play area that is here too, really nice! Some of the best views from on top too, not one if your afraid of heights tho! Birds of prey a thing of beauty and good how low they fly over you so be prepared haha. Great too see how the catapult works too. All in all a fantastic day for adults and children alike. Be prepared to be bag checked on the way in along with metal detecters, our pushchair set this off lol. This is the only wait you will have. Pushchair and wheelchair friendly! All in, well done Warwick Castle! Will be visiting you again!
Jamie B — Google review
This was a late in the season visit. Not all the attractions and vendor stands were open. It did not spoil the visit. The best attraction was the falconry quest. The birds were amazing and the handlers ensured that everyone was buzzed by a bird. The barn owls was majestic and graceful. The peregrine falcon was fast and precise. When looking up at the condor as it flew over was awesome. At the end of the show I couldn't tell you what the birds were, but the sky was full. It was amazing, worth the 3 hour drive for this. The horrible histories maze was fun and informative. There are peacocks everywhere. Other wildlife in abundance squirrel's, Robin's and ducks. There are plenty of seating and concession stands. There are plenty of staff who are helpful. Yes there are a lot of areas accessible for wheelchair users but it is hilly in places.

Amazing place, best castle I have seen so far even for those who knows little about the history. The Falconers Quest just jaw dropping experience. Book your tickets in advance and prepare for a great fun and ...a lot of steps to climb;)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fantastic day out at Warwick Castle! We had such a great time exploring Warwick Castle — there’s so much to see and do! We watched the Trebuchet demonstration and the Falconer’s Quest, both of which were really impressive and entertaining. We also tried our hand at archery, which was great fun. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and the whole place is really well maintained. It’s a shame that a few of the activities they usually run during the summer season weren’t on, but that’s understandable and didn’t take away from the experience. We even filmed parts of our visit for our own travel channel — it’s such a photogenic and fun place to capture on camera! Overall, a really enjoyable and memorable day out for all ages. Highly recommend visiting if you haven’t been before!

My husband and I love each detail and will soon return....not just 5 star, an entire constellation 😘😘😘

Broughton Castle, located in north Oxfordshire, is a historic fortified manor house that has been occupied by the Fiennes family since 1447. This Grade listed building, dating back to the 14th century, is renowned for its well-tended gardens and elegant stone-walled great hall. Despite being referred to as a castle, it is more accurately described as a fortified house with impressive medieval architecture.
Castle surrounded by a water stream, situated about 2 miles from Banbury town Only open 2 days a week. Check before you plan to go there. Tickets should be available at the gate scenic garden and surrounding farm land. Tea room filled with home made cakes and scones.

Excellent place to visit. Parking. Toilets. Cafe. Guides in most rooms. Photography allowed. Moated house and setting for lots of TV programmes, most famously, Wolf Hall. Lots to see and lovely gardens, very historic.

A wonderful place to visit. Friendly welcome and guides to give you information inside the castle. Used for many films and series on TV you can just picture yourself in some period drama as you take in the architecture and look around the many rooms, decorated with interesting period furniture and historical items. The view of the grounds from the roof is spectacular and you can see the wide moat in all its glory. Don't forget to look in the church within the grounds with it's resident bats. Practicalities:- parking and toilets and a very nice café. It's all well worth a visit.

We visited the castle for the first time on Wednesday, (the only week day open) it was excellent. The interior was extremely well maintained with all the artifacts well displayed and documented. A few of the paintings were of particular interest to me and are very fine indeed. The room guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Outside, the gardens were also well maintained, stocked with an interesting selection of plants. We are members of Historic Houses and visit many homes around the country. Broughton Castle is well worth a visit. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Located in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Stratford Butterfly Farm is a popular attraction that draws numerous visitors each year. It boasts a rainforest-like greenhouse where thousands of colorful butterflies flutter around. The Insect City houses rare invertebrates, while the discovery zone showcases every stage of the butterfly's life cycle. Additionally, visitors can explore Minibeast Metropolis to encounter snakes, reptiles, amphibians, and other creepy crawlies.
It was very easy to find but parking close by was tricky. We were very lucky to get such a close spot. The butterfly farm itself is beautiful it's like stepping into a jungle. It is extremely hot in there so wear loose clothing, especially for little ones and bring water. The butterflies are amazing and beautiful. It was very enchanting to watch so many just flying around each section. There are toilets, they were very clean and had many stalls so didn't have to wait at all. It would have been nice to have staff talk to us about their iguanas which were very active and beautiful but to protect them also from unruly kids, as some parents were very lacks on letting their small kids poke them with rolled-up papers or sticks. Over all it was very cool experience my 10 year old loved it

This place is an absolute delight. The tropical setting is beautiful, filled with vibrant plants and butterflies fluttering all around. It feels magical. The variety of species is amazing, and the insect displays are fascinating and educational for all ages. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the farm. Everything is well cared for, making it a relaxing and memorable visit. A wonderful experience and a must-see in Stratford-upon-Avon! 🦋✨

Overall, a fantastic experience- not as big as I was hoping (I’ve been to much bigger ones in France) - a bit disappointing size wise- but very well maintained. I was imagining an actual biosphere, but it’s medium in size with a central area that has a koi carp pond and a mini beast area too- with lizards, snakes and reptiles. The gift shop is great and the variety of butterflies is really good… Parking is ample but not free. Really nice day out- drive 2 hours to get there but was worth it.

I've visited Stratford Butterfly farm many times over the last 20 years and it is always a lovely experience. It's been about 6 years since our last visit, and whilst nothing really changes it's still a nice way to spend an hour or so. We purchased tickets online as it was the school holidays and thought it may be busy. We booked entry for 1.30pm, but arrived early and were allowed to go straight in. It was a warm day anyway, but it was much warmer in the Butterfly area, although this is to be expected. We were greeted on entry by Prudence the Iguana having a mooch about and snacking on some pears. It was wonderful to get so close to such a beautiful animal. We spent approximately an hour wandering around. It's great to see all the different species of butterflies flying around, and I even quite enjoy it when they land on me. So, if you're out and about in Stratford I highly recommend paying this place a visit.

October 2025, This place surprised me lots of different butterfly's to see and plenty of photo opportunities both butterfly'sand plants alike, I spent a good one and a half hours and really enjoyed it. Spoke with a member of staff who was knowledgeable and very polite. For less than 10 pound per person its well worth a visit.

Such a lovely experience. Walking around at your own pace in a beautiful tropical setting with fish pools and fountains and butterflies in every colour and size flying around and even landing on you!! You go from amazement to amazement. Every five seconds we were spotting something new, interesting and exciting! I was lucky enough to have three butterflies that seemed to live my yellow hoodie so much that they didn't want to get off at the end and I had to encourage each of them onto my hand so I could get them to walk onto a plant. A lovely escape from the 'usual'. Staff all very pleasant and helpful and a good gift shop at the end. Great place to bring kids to.

Shakespeare's Birthplace, located on Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, is a restored 16th-century half-timbered house where William Shakespeare was born and spent his early years. The house features memorabilia, period furnishings, and changing exhibitions related to the Bard.
A must for fans of the famous bard as it is where he was born. There’s a small exhibition with some audiovisual elements, a small but pretty cottage garden and, of course, the house itself. It’s very popular and there are often group bookings so expect some queues and the need for a little patience.

A wonderful piece of history, perfectly preserved. Lovely, helpful staff. We were utterly delighted during our visit to have some actors performing sections from the plays. A beautiful, important and valuable place.

Very interesting to see where Shakespeare grew up. You can also purchase tickets to go on a tour of his house. The town itself has lovely shops, even an all-year-round Christmas shop. Definitely walk around the town, there are so many interesting facts you can read, along your walk.
Keryn M — Google review
With not a lot of time to spare, we ran through this wonderful landmark and got a wonderful experience. Shakespeare’s birthplace felt like a familiar home even though it was our first visit there. The volunteers were incredibly helpful and friendly, went above and beyond to help and support each visitor. The tickets that we bought only covered Shakespeares birthplace but there was an option to see Anne Hathaways home which due to time constraints, we couldn’t do. I also believe that the tickets also allow you to go back over a 12 month period as many times as you want to. All in all, a wonderful place to see, visit and enjoy.
JACKIE W — Google review
This visit is so well done and it’s incredible to see the house where Shakespeare lived. There is also a beautiful garden in the interior and guides around the house to help educate you and tell you about the rooms you are visiting! There is also a rendition of Romeo and Juliette every 15 minutes. They make it very kid friendly as well with a scavenger hunt. We didn’t buy tickets in advance but were able to walk right up and enter.
Mibbie P — Google review
Very charming street with a lovely park. BUT … VERY touristic. If focused on learning about Shakespeare, then this is the place to be. If focused on the Cotswolds and charming villages, then you may wish to skip Stratford Upon Avon and venture to smaller villages that offer a more peaceful experience.
Bryan S — Google review
If you're into Shakespeare (and who isn't?), it's a must visit. The guides are knowledgeable, the exhibits fascinating, the building magnificent. I recommend purchasing the one ticket for all three sites, this one, Nash's house, and Anne Hathaway's Cottage. £30 for all three is great value. Down sides? Busy no matter what time of day it is. Lots of School and Coach groups from far and wide.
David W — Google review
I really enjoyed our visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace. We bought the 3 site pass at the door and visited here first. We started by going through and exhibit with some background and information on Shakespeare and then outside and in the queue to enter the house. There was about a 10-15 min wait to get into the house itself as we were following a school group. Inside the house there were staff in multiple rooms who provided background to the spaces and information on Shakespeare life and the home. We found it very informative. Before or after entering the house you can walk through the beautiful garden right outside it. The exit is through the bookshop/giftshop.

Located in the heart of Stratford upon Avon, The MAD Museum is a unique attraction showcasing interactive mechanical art and design. The museum's exhibits feature buttons, handles, lights, and sound effects that allow visitors to engage with kinetic art and automata. These moving sculptures are sourced from artists worldwide and offer an immersive experience for both children and adults. If you're unfamiliar with mechanical art, think of the whimsical machines seen in Wallace and Gromit or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
🎡 MAD Museum – Stratford-upon-Avon 🎡 If you ever wondered what happens when art, science and pure madness meet… welcome to The MAD Museum! 🤯💡 It’s a brilliant mix of moving sculptures, clever mechanisms, and “how on earth does this even work?!” moments. From marble runs to kinetic art – everything moves, spins, clicks, or surprises you when you least expect it! ⚙️🎨 We pressed buttons, pulled levers, and probably set off more machines than we were supposed to 😅 Perfect place for curious minds, big kids, and anyone who secretly loves pushing every single button in sight! 🚀 Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Stratford – just don’t expect to leave without saying “wow” at least ten times! 😄 #MADMuseum #StratfordUponAvon #FunDayOut #ScienceMeetsArt #CuriousMinds #WeekendAdventures #TravelWithBabs

We recently visited this place and had a wonderful experience overall. The venue features a lot of interactive contraptions and truly creative art pieces that spark curiosity and imagination. The environment is very engaging, especially for children they were genuinely excited and thoroughly enjoyed exploring everything on offer. That said, there are a couple of areas where improvements could enhance the experience. First, while the interactive installations are visually captivating, the inability to physically engage with most of them makes some exhibits feel more like animations than hands-on art. Adding more tactile or physical interaction would elevate the experience further. Secondly, a few of the major attractions, including the highly anticipated marble run, were unfortunately out of order during our visit. These are usually a big hit with kids, so it was a bit of a letdown. Despite these small drawbacks, it’s a unique and imaginative space that’s definitely worth a visit especially for families with curious young minds. Would recommend children age 5+.

Absolutely amazing place to visit. Especially good on either a rainy day or when it’s boiling hot outside and you need some aircon! Even just entering the museum there’s a ball contraption that I got stuck watching for 5 minutes. Don’t be fooled by the size of the museum as you genuinely could take 1-2 hours to look through everything. Every single contraption is a work of art, and you can watch them for minutes on end. They are all operated by waving your hand in front of a sensor that’s located next to each machine. It kept me and my girlfriend entertained for over an hour. There’s even a make your own marble contraption in the back of the museum where you stick wooden tracks onto a metal wall and run marbles down. We got sidetracked doing this for a very long time! The price is extremely good and well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Wow, what an amazing little museum, we spent just shy of 2 hours here, mainly as the exhibits can be viewed again and again. All the exhibits can be started by waving a hand so very user friendly for small children. The marble machines are mesmerising if they stuck a chair in front of them I'd have been there for hours! They have a room for kids to make their own marble runs as well. Even the toilets are worth a visit as the theme is continued into them Overall a brilliant museum to kill a couple of hours plus under 6's go free.

A great way to spend an hour; but, only really good value if you get a 'buy one, get one free' ticket. You can get those through the train website. Lots of animatronics to look at and some cool things in the shop. They accept the Blue Light card. A great place for kids, engineers and those who like to see something a little different or learn something new.

Visited with our grandchildren on the strength of the reviews. It was well worth it. If you’ve ever wondered what can be done with bits of plywood this is for you. The cams and engineering used in some of the exhibits is quite bonkers but in a good way. The interactive marble runway for the children was our girls’ favourite bit but all the exhibits are working too - just wave your hand over the nearby sensor and watch them come to life. The outside of the building is nondescript and easy to walk past but the magic is inside. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful riverside in the sunshine. Brunvh menu , no greenn red or fungi to bother with. Beautifully cooked poached eggs wgich could have done with being reheated. Excellent hash brown. Gluten free a difficulty as limited meny and staff didnt know and the one we had resented having to find out. Cumberland sausage was advised as gf and tasred good. Fingers crossed it was. This is a beautiful setting but nowhere as good as the restaurant on the 3rd floir. Lets the brand down. The manager said she would adress issues, i hope she does.

We had a lovely pre-theatre dinner at The Rooftop Restaurant at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and it was the perfect start to our evening before Cyrano de Bergerac! 🎭 The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour — from the delicious tomato soup and smoked salmon starter to the perfectly cooked main and heavenly desserts 🍰✨ Everything felt fresh and well-balanced. The service was attentive and friendly, and the view over Stratford-upon-Avon made the experience even more special 🌆💫 Even though I was fighting off the flu and stuck with tea instead of wine 🍵😅, it was still a wonderful birthday evening. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the theatre or looking for a relaxing, elegant meal in a great atmosphere! 💖

Came here for pre-theatre dinner on a Friday evening. At £35 for a three course meal, this was excellent value for money. The menu had lots of options and the we both agreed that the food and service were excellent. The restaurant decor was cleverly done, with great views across the park and river. This place most definitely exceeded our expectations.

We often eat at the Rooftop restaurant and have enjoyed excellent food and service, everything served in time for us to go downstairs and enjoy the theatre experience. However, on Monday evening, in spite of the restaurant not being very busy, we had to wait quite a while for our drinks and then we were served with such a delay that we had to rush our main course in order to ensure we were not late for the performance. Disappointing. It seems staff are much more efficient when they are busy as they seem to focus better: my g&t was presented with almost completely melted ice cubes , it seemed it had been prepared much earlier and then had sat on the bar counter for some time.

Had lunch here for Mothering Sunday - first time visit. Really impressed with the service, the food, the view, the acoustics of the place, the seating and comfy chairs, the drinks menu and the climate in the dining area. Everything is geared towards a great experience. 10% tip is charged and I have no problems with that. Will be back.

Special mention for the lovely Louise who made my mother and I feel so very welcome. She was friendly, knowledgeable and really took the trouble to ensure we had everything we needed. She is a real credit to you. Give her a pay rise! The “small plates” are a great idea. A full meal would have been too much for us so soon after breakfast and before sitting through a show. The interesting and delicious selection of small dishes and sides was ideal.(The little cubes of black pudding hash were especially yummy). It was also a very pleasant surprise to be offered complimentary sparkling water. This trip to the theatre was my gift to my mother for her 95th birthday.I can’t think of anything she would have enjoyed more and it will be a very special memory for us in the years to come. Thank you!

Holy Trinity Church is a medieval church in Stratford-upon-Avon, known for being the final resting place of William Shakespeare. The church also houses his baptism and burial records. It is one of the must-see attractions in the area, along with other famous sights like Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Shakespeare's Homes, Tudor World Museum & the Falstaff Experience, and Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
Shakespeare’s home church from the cradle to the grave. Worth seeing and considering Shakespeares life and impact on western civilization. He is buried inside next to his wife near the front of the church. The building itself is beautiful, appears crooked or slanted in the front but the tour guide said that the architect slanted the building on purpose to depict Christ’s head tilting on the cross. The precision and intentionality is unmatched in modern architecture. The symbolism is beautiful!

Beautiful church, one of only half a dozen in this country with a 'weeping chancel'. Also contains Shakespeare's grave. Cost us £5 each to visit the grave and listen to a really interesting talk. Nice little gift shop. The church sits on the banks of the river its overall a lovely place to visit.

Such a beautiful church and grounds. Where Shakespeare was baptized, married and buried. You can walk into the church, and look around free of charge. If you would like to visit Shakespeare's resting place. As you walk up the aisle there is a lady, seated, where you pay £5 per person. Then you can walk up and view where Shakespeare was laid to rest, also, his wife Anne Hathaway, his daughter Susanna Hall and her husband Dr John Hall. Also, their son-in-law Thomas Nash. The first husband of their daughter Elizabeth Hall. At the side of the church, in the grounds there is a large Cedar tree from Gethsemane. Walk to the side of the church , outside, and you find the beautiful River Avon.

🕍✨ A moment with Shakespeare’s legacy Today we visited the beautiful Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon — the final resting place of William Shakespeare, the world’s greatest playwright. 🌿📜 Standing by his grave felt almost surreal — centuries may have passed, yet his words still echo through time, inspiring readers and dreamers around the world. ✍️💫 And there it was, his famous inscription, warning everyone not to disturb his bones... even after death, Shakespeare knew how to add a touch of drama! 🎭😄 A peaceful place filled with history, poetry, and the quiet reminder that “All the world’s a stage.” 🌸

Anne Hathaway's Cottage, located just a mile outside of the city center in Shottery near Stratford-upon-Avon, is a wattle-and-daub family home that offers visitors a unique insight into the life of William Shakespeare and his wife. The cottage itself is surrounded by idyllic countryside and features original furniture.
A beautiful location and the house and grounds were lovely, especially the orchard and the sculptures. Front garden was empty which was a shame but we think they were revamping and considering the recent hot weather doesn't difficult to keep plants going. Susan the tour guide at the front of the house was excellent and friendly well work a listen to, to get the background story. the Cafe opposite was super clean and had a small but excellent menu and gardens to sit in.

We really loved our visit to Anne’s house. Located on the outskirts of town, it’s setting with the gardens and orchard were absolutely idyllic. In the house, there were staff at different locations, explaining and demonstrating different parts of the home and how certain items (like the oven) worked. They were highly informative and added to our visit. Rooms also had many signs with background info. They sell cider from the apples on the farm (as well as many other souvenirs). I found it to be both quiet at relaxing at the time of our visit.

Visited the cottage as part of the package ticket we purchased to see various Shakespeare sites. Went on a Monday afternoon in September and it was quiet, free of the tourist groups. The volunteers we interacted with were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, explaining the history and interesting facts. There is a nearby car park that you have to pay to park, and it’s a short walk to the cottage.

Absolutely charming place! 🏡✨ Anne Hathaway’s Cottage is a beautiful slice of history surrounded by peaceful gardens and flowers that look straight out of a fairy tale 🌸🌿 The house itself is full of character — you can really imagine Anne and young Shakespeare wandering around here, planning sonnets and secret dates 😄🎭 Lovely staff, well-maintained grounds, and plenty of photo spots (especially for hopeless romantics like me 💕). Bought a ticket for my mum and I to visit all 3 of Shakespeare’s houses, this has to be my favourite, not only is it quieter that the other 2 houses because it isn’t directly in the centre of Stratford it is so much more peaceful, the gardens and orchards are stunning, the upkeep of the house is beautiful. The cafe is located on the other side of the road but you can come in and out re scanning your ticket, as a vegetarian coeliac I managed to get a lovely lunch, a gluten free toastie (using shaar paninis) they could do a gluten free toastie with any filling, and a lovely brownie to finish, the crisps were also gluten free. Lovely day out, reasonable parking too £2 for 3 hours

Rousham House & Gardens is a historic estate with a stately residence dating back to 1635 and landscaped gardens designed by William Kent in the 18th century. The gardens feature evergreen trees, ornamental structures like the seven arched Praeneste and sham ruin, and a walled garden with herbaceous flower beds and apple trees.
What a beautiful place. No cafe, shop or children meant it was so peaceful. Still plenty of colour in the garden and seats to rest and picnic. Friendly welcome too. Beautiful hens - might be bantams! There are toilets.

The gardens were beautiful. Kind of rustic looking. But lots of pretty flowers, apple trees and hedges. No one under 15 is allowed. The house is difficult to go see because it has a minimum number of people required and needs to be reserved in advance. Frankly, the house didn't look that exciting

Beautiful place, open all year. No young children, buggies or dogs allowed makes for one of the most peaceful places to visit. Walk though the borders, along the river Cherwell and a visit to the lovely church. Just toilets, pay at the machine and bring your own food and drinks.

First time here on the way back from Blenheim Palace the previous day and we loved it. Going to sound like a grumpy old man but....errrr....I am ! Reason I say that is because we loved that pushchairs, dogs and kids under 15 are not allowed in. We could enjoy the grounds which are beautiful, the many flowers and fruit trees and woodland walks and the river without a screaming child in sight. No pushchairs with entitled parents pushing past you or stopped enmasse in the way, no barking dogs bounding up to you unleashed and sticking their nose where you don't want it or slobbering over you. Instead, just peace and quiet - there's not even a tea room or cafe or bookshop to be found! And thank God for that - it's not until they aren't there that you realise how you don't need them. They're are SO many places to picnic, and enjoy just the sounds of wildlife. They are two lots of toilets and they are well kept. So yes, recommended to visit 😀

Outstanding! This is an absolute jewel of a place. Admission is £10 and there is a fair sized free car park. There is no tea room or shop which is just heaven! It's beautiful to explore the gardens without it being like a National Trust fun fair! The grounds are stunning from the cottage gardens to the water features, woodland walks and Riverside walks. Just love the place!

Exceptional. One of Britain's greatest gardens gently curated. Wonderful relaxed, intimate feel.

Located in the heart of the Cotswold Hills, Hook Norton Brewery is a Victorian brewery and visitor center that offers guided tours where visitors can learn about the age-old tradition of brewing and enjoy free beer samples. The sixth-generation family-owned brewery has been producing a variety of cask, keg, and bottled ales since 1849, combining their brewing heritage with modern techniques. Visitors can experience the historic brewery at work and witness their enthusiasm and commitment to brewing.
What a perfect day spent at the very pretty Hook Norton, and Hook Norton Brewery Tour. Really good value, mega interesting, the history of the family, place and the process of brewing this gorgeous beer, established 1849. At the end of the tour you get to taste a few of the Hooky tipples and receive a complimentary Hook Norton Brewery glass. Lovely touch. Special shout out for David, our exceptionally knowledgeable tour guide. Great fun. And of course visiting the well looked after Shire Horses, who still deliver beer to the local pubs, just like in the old days! Finished off tour with a lovely lunch in the Brewery restaurant, and wander around the shop where of course we just had to buy some Hooky beer to take home with us. Great free museum by the way. The staff are super happy and friendly. Maybe it’s the beer🤔

I've been to plenty of breweries and their tours before. And they tend to get very samey. But not Hook Norton, while yes it covered the main talking points, this is an incredibly unique and interesting Brewery from an engineering and structural standpoint. Also never been to a brewery with so many drinks at the end (5 cask, 4 keg). Peter our guide was phenomenal and made the tour engaging and interesting.

What a lovely day out! Our tour guide Monty was very knowledgeable and welcoming. History, beer and food - brilliant experience across all fronts and came away feeling very enriched. The cafe’s version of a Ploughman’s was top notch and the beer went down a treat. Will be recommending to friends and family!

Great spot. Two of us had a couple of pints and sandwich and side of chips. Good simple pub menu. Gluten free menu. Friendly. Glorious to sit in sun having a beer, outside tables had parasols. Not easy to get to, we cycled from Kings Sutton, but worth it. The shop has the full range of beers and some nice gifts.

Very clean and tidy. Staff with very, very attentive. They checked that everything was ok three times! Food was fresh and good sized portions. Peri-peri sauce with the chicken has a good kick to it.

It's really interesting, only tall victorian brewery still working in England. Still family run. Great number of beers and ciders to try. We didn't manage the tour as fully booked but had a stroll around the museum. Saw thd beautiful shire horses that are still used.

Great cafe and bar with well stocked shop. I recently returned to do the brewery tour. It was a very informative tour for the history of the Hook Norton Brewery and how it grew from 1849 and was then extended to the Victorian 3 stage gravity fed brewery of 1899. The tour is 90 minutes long and involves going up and down over 100 steps. It really has a fascinating history which was state of the art when it was built and largley unchanged except a few modern additions added in the 20th & 21st century for effeciency and electrification. Well worth the money and with a great host too called Sally who knew her history. After the tour you get sample the beers and discuss tasting notes. It would be great to do a more indepth day when they are brewing with the brewers to see it all in action and to have a lesson on brewing and the science behind it.

Fantastic tour today with tour guide Chris. Really informative, didn’t feel rushed at all, and plenty of sampling at the end. Definitely worth a couple of hours. The gift shop has a wide selection of local beers, wines and spirits, as well as local food and beauty items. The free museum upstairs is also worth a visit if you’re interested in the local history.

The Cotswolds Distillery Visitor Centre offers popular tours three times a day, seven days a week. Visitors have the rare opportunity to witness the craft of local spirits and learn about the spirit-making process. The distillery also features a cafe and shop, with plans for an eco-friendly wetlands area in progress. Guests can enjoy experiences like the Gin Masterclass, where they can blend their own gin after learning about its history and sampling various flavors.
What a lovely English distillery and their whisky is fairly priced and the sweeter whiskies are really nice. The people that served us were polite and happy to help if you need it. The cafe looks nice and even the outdoor tables and chairs are kept clean and the surroundings of the distillery and cafe are beautiful and peaceful...At least there was when we were there.

Booked a tour online for our wedding anniversary. Turned up to be greeted by very friendly staff who explained where we needed to be and more importantly where the toilets were (needed those after a 2hr drive). The tour starts off with a video which took about 10 minutes. James then took us around the site and explained how everything works and what they do with the byproducts throughout the process, it's a nice feeling knowing that you can drink something which doesn't leave much waste. Once the tour was complete, we were taken to the tasting room. I won't ruin your experience, so I'll leave that for you to find out (very positive I promise). If you are the designated driver, don't panic, there's something for you to take home as well, you won't miss out. We opted to add the pizza and drink option to our tour. It definitely pays to do this. It's cheaper than ordering from the table. There is a choice of pizzas from their menu, which should suit most tastes. Of course you can buy what you sampled, we've walked away with a couple anniversary gifts for each other. A pleasant day out, and we'll be back with friends very soon, that's for sure.

What an absolutely wonderful time spent here ! Hattie does an amazing job guiding us all thru the tour and provides so much information. From the beginning of the tour to the end of tasting, she was amazing, and her personality is like we've never experienced! Absolutely love her ! I was super impressed that we were allowed to view so much of the making process up front instead of behind a glass wall. I am a huge, huge fan of all Costwolds Gin they produce. In fact, I've been able to try each and every one. Too difficult to say, which is a favorite as they all are incredible. So when I visit the UK, I bring home a mix of the smaller bottles that can be purchased at the end of the tasting. Also, I must comment how impressed I was that they provide a care package of samples to your designated driver. Who does this? Most tasting couldn't care less if one walks out and gets behind the wheel under the influence! Great job, Cotswolds! Much RESPECT!! Thank you, Hattie & Cotswolds for such an enjoyable day ! Definitely will be back during my next visit!!

Absolutely fantastic experience. Probably one of the best distillery/brewery tours I've ever done. Our guide, James, was fabulous; fun but knowledgeable, keeping us engaged while helping us to understand the process of creating whiskey and gin as well as the history of the distillery. He really made the experience for us. The tasting was fantastic! The group size was small (around 15 people) and we had a private room where we got to sample around 6 different options each. I am not a huge whisky fan, but thats ok, as you can just sample the gin (and vice versa). The cafe was lovely, though did get busy. Food was exquisite and not overly priced all things considered. The shop is small but has a wonderful family feel to it. The staff greeted us as if we were old friends bot when we first entered and when we went back at the end of the tour to buy some bits. This was just a great day out. A beautiful location, fabulous staff and some very tasty gin 😋 Oh, and, if you are a diver, don't worry, they cater for you too! We got a goodie bag to take home with 6 tasters (4 of which you can choose yourself). Its like they've thought of everything!

I was gifted a visit to the distillery for the whisky masterclass from my wife and daughter and was lucky enough that my daughter very kindly offered to drive. (More of this later). I had been to a Scottish distillery a long time ago so was not expecting to be so enthralled this time. We started off with some history of whisky distilling, which was very interesting and then moved on to the process and storage. The staff were really knowledgeable and answered any questions easily and made the whole thing so much better than I could have imagined. The highlight for me was learning about the blending and then making our own whiskey using the knowledge that we had learnt. It has to be said that you do not want to drive after you have sampled all that is provided! It was a fantastic afternoon out with lovey staff and I can't recommend it strongly enough. Thanks very much.

Fantastic tour and tasting - the guide was very knowledgable and friendly and the gin and whiskey tastings were out of this world! This is well worth the trip out to the countryside and wished we had longer there to enjoy the gift shop and cafe. Beautiful buildings and you can tell they do everything with pride. Love that we were able to try special edition gins, the Cotswolds Wildflower Gin #1 is PHENOMINAL!!

An Unforgettable Day Out at Cotswolds Distillery! I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Cotswolds Distillery on Sunday 4th May 2025, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable days out I’ve had in a long time. Our tour guide, Kevin Merrit, was a standout—an American with a passion for whisky and gin that’s truly infectious. His depth of knowledge was incredible, and he made the whole tour feel fun, relaxed, and endlessly interesting. We learned so much—not just about how their whisky and gin are made, but how even the smallest additions (a drop of water, a slice of lemon, a splash of tonic) can completely transform the flavour profile. It was hands-on, informative, and full of opportunities to taste the different spirits along the way. Let’s just say we left the tasting room a little merrier than we went in! After the tour, we stayed for lunch and enjoyed some of the best pizzas we’ve ever had, paired with delicious cocktails that were perfect for the sunny afternoon. We spent hours soaking up the atmosphere, sipping drinks, and enjoying the stunning countryside setting. I also loved how the equipment and stills have names with American meanings—like “Dolly”—a brilliant nod to the distillery’s roots, especially since the founder came from the US. It’s little touches like that which make the experience feel personal and memorable. My partner and I are always on the lookout for unique days out, and this one ticked all the boxes. We’ll definitely be back to try some of the other activities on offer. If you haven’t visited yet, make this your next stop—you won’t regret it!

I brought my father for the Whiskey Blending Masterclass as a 70th birthday gift and we had a brilliant time! I would highly recommend the experience. My expectation was low, based on previous experiences. But from the moment we arrived we were treated incredibly well. The staff were so friendly and knowledgable, it felt like you’d been before. We had cocktails on arrival, took in some history, toured the distillery, learnt about whiskey profiles and even got to mix our own. I was even more surprised that we got to bring so much home with us! I couldn’t have asked for more and would encourage anyone with an interest in whiskey to book themselves on this class. Easily a 10/10.

Blenheim Palace is a grand 17th-century stately home located in Oxfordshire, UK. The palace is set amidst beautifully designed gardens by Capability Brown and boasts over 2000 acres of parkland to explore. As the birthplace of Winston Churchill and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers visitors a rich historical experience. Guests can tour the opulent stately rooms, stroll through botanic gardens, and embark on walking trails across the estate's countryside.
Gorgeous walks. We have started visiting weekly during the nice weather. The grounds are amazing. The secret garden is my favourite to stop with a picnic. The butterfly house is magical when all of the butterflies are out. The adventure play area looks fun as well. £5 for an adult, £7 for a child over 3, under 3 is free. Definitely worth a visit. Recommend getting the membership if you are going to go more than once in a year as it is only an extra tenner.

We pre-booked our tickets for a Saturday and arrived just as the car park opened at 10am. The short walk from the car park to the palace was lovely, setting the tone for the day ahead. Our first stop was the shops, where we treated ourselves to some chocolate… the white Montezuma in particular was absolutely delicious and worth recommending. Next, we headed up for the Rooftop Experience, which was fantastic. The views were spectacular, and the slightly bouncy stairs added an unexpected bit of fun! After that, we explored the palace interiors. Although some internal maintenance and restoration work is underway, it was well hidden and didn’t detract from the visit. We then enjoyed the Winston Churchill experience, which was fascinating and well presented, before moving on to the gardens. The grounds were stunning… beautifully kept and a real highlight of the day. To finish, we took the buggy tour around the estate, which was another fantastic experience and gave us a chance to appreciate the size and beauty of the parkland. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Blenheim Palace for a full and varied day out.

The palace is very nice. If you're passing through Woodstock and have the time go in and visit the place. Beside visiting the inside of the palace you can have a nice walk around the place. For Harry Potter fans if you cross the Vanbrugh's Grand Bridge and turn left you'll come across The Harry Potter Tree from the 1st movie in the series. In the park you'll find The Column of Victory. The staff are nice and can answer your questions. Best is to buy tickets in advanced. In the summer be prepared for large groups. The parking lot is big, coaches can also park inside. The inside is very nicely decorated, you'll find many paintings, sculptures. Beside seeing how the upper folks lived, the palace is also very famous for beeing the birthplace of the 1st Duke's famous descendat, Winston Churchill. The back grounds offer a nice view over River Glyme. The cafeteria looks nice but the prices are too high.

The place is stunning, surrounded by beautiful lakes and gardens. However, we arrived only two hours before closing and were not informed that this wouldn’t be enough time to explore the whole palace. We purchased the highest ticket category, but it would have been better if the staff had advised us to choose a lower one. The ticket prices are quite high, and I suggest providing golf carts inside the grounds due to the large area

Came 25th October 2025 for the Halloween event. First impressions weren’t great as the advertised fairground was just three attractions - one of which (the ghost house) was laughably bad. The food and drink vans were also poor - I was expecting better than something you’d see at your local Sunday market! The Halloween trail itself went some way to making up for that and was fantastic in places. The live actors were also great and weren’t too scary for the kids. The placing of a toasted marshmallow seller and bar at the half way point was also a great touch and broke up what otherwise would have been a 20 minute walkthrough. We ended up going round twice as we didn’t anticipate it being so sunny and wanted to see it in all its glory during twilight. There is significant room for improvement though e.g. the UFO scene was a great idea poorly executed with no attempt to dress the lighting rig up as a spaceship. A live actor dressed as an alien here would also have helped. Overall it felt sparse and needed more. In saying that, my niece and nephew both enjoyed themselves so maybe I’m being too critical. Still, I expected more for the money.

We visited Blenheim palace today. We had a wonderful time here. Staff is very friendly and everything is accessible in a wheelchair. We wanted to visit the rooftop, but we were told that I couldn't because I wore slippers. One of the staff members gave me a tip to switch shoes with my mum who is in a wheelchair. That way we could visit the rooftop. Boy, was I thankful for that suggestion because you have a magnificent view once you're up there! Everything in the palace is accessible. Staff is pro active in giving service and suggestions, which we really appreciated. In the afternoon it started to rain and we had planned to visit the gardens. No worry.... your ticket is valid for a whole year, so you can come back whenever you like. We're planning to visit the gardens in the next couple of days when the weather is better.

Well worth a visit, it has the wow factor, such a large impressive palace. You need a full day or more to see and visit everywhere. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There are places to get refreshments, toilets etc. in several areas and facilities for the disabled Plenty of interesting, woodland and lakeside walks. A little train, children's play area, a very good maze. The Palace itself is magnificent, at the moment there is some restoration work taking place, but this does not spoil the visit, in fact allows a visit to see the views from the roof area.

Wychwood Brewery, located near the Wychwood National Nature Reserve in Witney, has been crafting beer since 1983 and is renowned as the UK's largest producer of organic ale. The brewery offers a comprehensive two-hour tour that provides insight into the entire brewing process, from raw ingredients to the final product. Visitors are treated to a half pint of Hobgoblin at the beginning of the tour and are guided through the brewery's history up to present day.
Surprised by my wife with a tour today. Great experience and our guide Alan was great. Lots of beer to try and interesting to hear about the history. Definitely better than the church fair. Well worth the visit from Glasgow.

My Daughter treated my Son and i to a tour of Wychwood brewery which was very interesting from start to finish. A half pint of Hobgoblin is the start of the tour followed by information about the brewery in the early days right up to the present day. After the tour there is a small sampling of of 6 ales and an explanation of each. As per, you exit through the shop where you can fill up on your favourite ales and merch. Great tour highly recommended.
Martin N — Google review
Great tour hosted by Andy. The brewery itself is quite small, so without lots of questions the tour took about 1hr. You get quite a few tasters, with 1/2 a pint shortly after arrival followed by 6 small tasters after the tour. You can then go to the bar for another 1/2 pint and you get to keep the glass. Can't say whether value for money, as was a birthday present from my wife, but she was in agreement with how good they are with "freebies". Would recommend as part of a visit to Witney; if you park at the free parking in town it's only around a 10 minute walk, as not much parking on site.

With all the history of this brewery, it’s great that the brewery tour covers it. Great to hear about it. You get a half pint of beer at the start of the tour and then you get small samples of about 5-6 different wychwood beers at the end. I’d fully recommend the tour. Apparently the bar will be open to the public soon, can’t wait!

The Model Village is a must-visit attraction in Bourton-on-the-Water, offering a unique experience of exploring a one-ninth scale replica of the picturesque Cotswold village. This mini village, constructed between 1936 and 1940, meticulously replicates the architecture, gardens, and even the River Windrush of that time. Built with locally quarried limestone and miniature Cotswold stone slates for roofs, every detail is faithfully recreated by builders rather than model makers.
A Charming and Delightful Experience! We had such a lovely time exploring this amazing model village. It's incredible how much detail has gone into every part of it — truly impressive! Walking around and taking it all in was such a fun and unique little activity. It might be small, but it's packed with charm and interesting features. We fully enjoyed the visit and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit different and thoroughly enjoyable.

An interesting place to visit whilst in Bourton-on-the-Water, it being a scale model of the town itself. Reasonable admission charge...it was quite busy when we attended and have to say that people with mobility issues may find it difficult due to the narrow undulating walkways around the exhibit. It was interesting to see the detail and the craftsmanship used to create the village buildings and scenes.
Andy P — Google review
It was a rainy day when we visited with no wait time. It was a pleasant experience to see a replica of the actual village. There is a place to park your push chair if you are with a little one as they don't allow push chairs into the model village with its narrow lanes. Overall, good place to visit.

I've heard about the Model Village, so we made sure to stop by during our day trip to Bourton-on-the-Water. It was really fascinating to see the whole village recreated in miniature, with such great attention to detail. You can walk around quite quickly, but it’s fun to take your time and notice all the little features. It doesn’t take long to explore (around 20–30 minutes), so it’s worth popping in if you’re already in the area. Entry is good, and it’s a unique attraction, especially if you enjoy quirky sights. Glad we visited, it added something extra to our trip!
Oge O — Google review
A nice model village, with the added extra of it matching closely the actual village of Burton-on-the-Water. However compared to other model villages I've visited it's slightly lacking in color, figures, vehicles, and humor. That said the work done in maintaining the building in the original stone must be quite an effort. The gardens are also well maintained and nicely laid out. Close to most to the village centre and to a couple of parking lots. Not the cheapest place but it's the Cotswolds everything is expensive.
Garry ( — Google review
An okay place to visit, but the entry price felt a little steep for a family of four. The venue itself is quite small, and when we visited it was very busy, which made it difficult to move around and take everything in. It’s pleasant enough for a quick look, but I wouldn’t rush back.

The Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection in Bourton-on-the-Water is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and families alike. Located in the heart of the picturesque village, this museum showcases a diverse range of vintage cars, rare vehicles, and motoring memorabilia from the 20th century. Visitors can also explore historic toys and retro exhibits that evoke a sense of nostalgia. The museum offers an enriching experience for all generations, making it an ideal destination for family outings.
A lovely nostalgic, informative and historical collection of automotive and toy history. It's well presented, well laid out, and staffed by very friendly and enthusiastic people. What a joy 😊. Members of boundless (formally CSMA) get free access, but prices are reasonable for those who are not.

The museum itself is quite small but larger than you'd expect which was nice as you step through the tardis door upon entry. First room was really well done with some absolutely beautiful rare classics from early 1900's to 1950's the rest of the museum after that that was still good filled with lots of trinkets and memorobolia but I found it was a bit thin on offerings after the first initial room. Well worth a visit however. Parking was quite expensive and had to go around the village a few times before I found it but the museum itself was easy to find. Definitely recommended to see but I would say if you're on a mission to view all motor museums it's one to see if you're close or passing through. You'll spend a good hour in the museum and for the £9.50 entrance fee I didn't feel shortchanged. If you're near it definitely visit but I wouldn't drive 4 hours to see it if that makes sense. Luckily I live an hour and 10 minutes and I'd say that was worth it.

Fantastic place to visiting. They have a very nice collection of vehicles to see and some wonderful decor. It’s got a very nice vibe and feel to it for any motor fans. The staff were also very friendly and the rest of the village is great so make for a wonderful experience on the weekend. I would recommend the visit.

I was really impressed with the charm of this museum. I wasn’t expecting much in such a small town, but it’s packed with a lot of interesting things. Importantly, if you have a mixed group, with a couple of motor heads, and some people that are not, there’s enough old nostalgia, antiques to look at to keep them busy as well. There’s a pretty good size gift shop too

Lovely little visit whilst staying in the Cotwolds this weekend. It's a massive museum, however, somewhere nice to pop in and see if you're travelling through or staying nearby. The museum takes you on a mini journey back in time through many different collections of motoring items. Free parking just down the road, also near cafes and restaurants in a nice area if you choose to stay. I wouldn't really say it was for a young audience, more dependant on personal interests. I did get a bit cold walking around, i understand temperature may be important for the maintenance of items, but i would recommend a jumper or two for those wanting to visit. I also say the iconic Brum from childhood tv shows.

We have been to the area a few times and finally managed to come and visit! Our son is obsessed with Brum and this was amazing to see. There were so many other interesting cars, exhibits and a play area as well. A huge thank you to the kind and caring staff at Cotswold Motoring Museum, this trip was made even more memorable because of them.

The Dragonfly Maze is a classic garden maze located in Bourton-on-the-Water. It features 14 hidden clues that visitors can collect as they navigate through the maze to reach its center. Once there, they are tasked with solving a rebus puzzle to reveal the golden dragonfly.
Such a unique and fun activity for the kids. Glad they offer a family rate to make it more affordable. The gentlemen working the front was very friendly. Definitely a challenge to find all the clues and then to get them correct! We were there about 40 mins. Don't recommend bringing a pushchair. One family had one and it was really difficult to get around them in the maze.

This place is a must go with kids. It was far better than what I had expected it to be. We really enjoyed the experience and had super fun. There are other places to visit like birdland, model village motor museum.I would highly recommend carrying a picnic if you have kids and family where u can spe d calm and relaxing time by the River Windrush!!

Quite entertaining and pretty challenging! It turns out that mixing riddles with a maze makes for a great adventure, and no worries, no spoilers on my review!

It's a lovely little experience for 4.50 each it's was fun and is worth doing if your in town. The guy on the ticket both is a cheerful chap with good customer service. Overall it's a fun experience to kill some time. I'd like to see them so seasonal riddles and change things up abit so I could come back again.

As a big fan of mazes this has got to be one of the best I've been to, great experience from start to finish! Staff were very helpful and the maze was the perfect level of difficulty and I loved the extra fun of solving the puzzle. The final room was really magical and finding the answer to the riddle was very satisfying, much better than a simple hedge maze. Very much recommend.

Great fun. Felt like such a wholesome activity. We went as a couple, and initially wondered if it was going to be more family and child focused, but it wasn’t at all. It’s suitable for people of all ages. Couples, families, friends. It’s just an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so. Everyone was laughing and having fun, especially when you pass the same people again and again because you’re all lost. Hats off to the staff. Wish we could do it again.

Birdland Park & Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water is a top attraction in the Cotswolds, offering 9 acres of woodland and 50 aviaries housing over 500 bird species from around the world. The park features interactive zones for kids and a Jurassic Journey exhibition with life-size dinosaurs and fossils. Visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of various birds including owls, flamingos, pelicans, and penguins.
A great place to visit. A wide variety of birds from all over the world. Especially enjoyed getting up close to the penguins, a fantastic exhibit, loved watching them swim from the underwater viewing windows. Can watch them feed, along with other birds including the pelicans. Very well set out and all areas easily accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. Beautiful scenery. Cafe wasn’t stocked too well however, was short staffed and probably overpriced. This didnt detract for the overall experience. Take a packed lunch! Staff were welcoming, friendly and informative during the feeding display. Would definitely look forward to visiting again.

Never heard of this place which is a shame id 1000% of come earlier ! It's dog friendly as long as its on a lead which was perfect for our little Pomeranian who loved looking into the enclosure's. It took awhile to get around to see everything as two adults and a dog if you had a child could easily whittle away half a day with all there is to see, there's a lovely cafe that serves refreshments and a gift shop with lots of lovely items to keep as a memento.

Beautiful place with lots of different species of birds; loved penguin and flamingos. Well maintained environment. Enjoyed one hour sessions with tortoises, ducks and chickens. We had a walk around ,the sound of the brook and the wind on the trees gave an effect of walking in the woods. Just loved the place and will definitely visit again.

Well worth the money. Really nice place to walk around especially with the kids. The birds are all really well looked after and have spacious enclosures. This place is truly dog friendly. Also enjoyed that the penguin feed and talk was also given in sign. The Jurassic walk down is also good. Our toddler loved the dinosaurs hidden within the nature trail.

Really enjoyed our visit to Birdland! The penguins were so much fun to watch and the flamingoes were gorgeous. There’s such a wide variety of birds to see, with something interesting around every corner. A lovely place to spend a few hours. Highly recommend!

We were looking for things to do in the Cotswolds and stumbled across Birdland! What a fabulous place, if you had kids this would be brilliant to take a picnic as there are so many picnic benches dotted around. There is also an amazing play area and cafe too. It’s so picturesque in parts with the river running through. It needs the support for them to keep doing what they are doing. Please go and support!

Wonderful day out. Just went to the wild life park - small park with lot's of cute animals. Reasonably priced. We did a capybara experience which was wonderful - the staff member who ran the encounter was very friendly and knowledgeable. We managed to catch a bird show too which was very interesting. Restaurant on site - nice simple food. Clean. Nice outdoor seated area. Kids play park and farm animals - which is free to the public. Farm shop filled with lot's of fresh produce and cake!

Visited the pick your own pumpkin patch which majorly exceeded expectations! A great experience for adults and kids, with an abundance of pumpkins at fair prices, a waffle stand and marshmallow toasting stand. Loved it.

Went for the pumpkin lights trail at nights Nd it was fabulous! So much more than I expected, really worth the money. They have so much there, food stalls - waffles, wraps, fries, hot chocolate, a bar. A disco the kids really loved and a little fair. It was great!!

A near perfect accumulation of joy and desire. Varied set pieces bring artful pleasures. The key hub of the garden centre is simply top notch, & includes a satisfying cafe. An outdoor mélange of animals near the lake is perfect for a stroll, with a forest area to explore as well. A small zoo, a deli (with another cafe), a market area and a special events space fill out the rest of the desires and joys to be had. Christmas is especially excellent.

Great experience, paid for the one to one experience, and they certainly have a lot to see, some sections aren't as obvious as others were, and went round in circles a few times I dare say, staff were friendly and helpful, learnt a bit while there, I knew a fair amount already as I've always had an interest in animals and have seen many programmes showing them in my years, but picked up a bit more while there, interesting day out, more so when an eagle tapped my head with it's wing white chasing a lure 🤣.
Alan F — Google review
Went to pumpkin picking by torchlight. It was impressive. Really good fun. There wasn't a single person there not enjoying themselves. There was a lot more going on than I expected. I'll definitely be back next year. My only criticism and the reason for 4 stars is that the queue going in took a long time as there was only a single person checking tickets, an easy fix.
Jamie C — Google review
We visited millets for their pumpkin picking and the set up was brilliant. The pumpkins are actually grown there, unlike some places that just chuck some pumpkins out in a field. There was a brilliant variety with many diffent types of pumpkin and squash. The price was fair and we got 4 very big pumpkins for just over £20. We also visited the farm shop and brought some very nice bread and other local produce.

Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens is a family-friendly destination spread across 160 acres of parkland, offering an opportunity to observe over 260 animal species up close. During winter, the park features a stunning display of around 30 different snowdrop varieties in its distinguished winter garden and the West Meadow. Visitors can enjoy interacting with animals, such as feeding the penguins or participating in the 'Keeper for the Day' program.
First visit and can definitely say it won't be the last. What a truly lovely place. The animal enclosures are fabulous, clean and in keeping for each creatures needs. The gardens are stunning considering it is October, there were still some lovely flowers in bloom. Their restaurant was very clean and the carrot cake and coffee a perfect snack between strolling around. The gardens are set out in a way that is interesting to look at whilst walking between enclosures. It was soo clean and tidy. Great place to see some well cared for animals and birds.

Great wildlife park to visit. It's in the middle of nowhere, parking is great, animals are super accessible and the people are so nice. The cost was very reasonable. There are loads of different animals (wolverine, red panda, rhinos, lions, giraffes, ant eaters, rover otters, and lemurs to name a few.) The train around the park was quaint. I'd recommend visiting anytime. Ooooo, and there is an adventure park for the kids to play at if you just want to chill for thirty minutes with a 10" sausage!
Stephen H — Google review
Really good day out, helped by being very reasonable weather for the time of year. No rain, not too cold, some sunshine. It was busy, being half term, but manageable and well organised. The restaurant was very busy at midday but is was moving quickly and tables being cleaned regularly. Not too long to wait for decent hot food. The animals looked well cared for and their enclosures really well thought out. Definitely more than enough to see in one day. The Rhinos seemed to be part of a successful breeding program. Throughout my childhood there were only 3 then 2 rhinos. Now there seemed to be 7 including some very cute looking young ones. The grounds were particularly impressive considering the time of year. Clearly a lot of effort goes into maintaining it this well. All in all would definitely recommend for a day out.
Ana G — Google review
Had a very nice day. Very nice experience during the visit. The park is very easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff is very nice and helpful. The gardens are very nice and full of vivid coloured plants. You can stroll around the park in a relaxing enjoyable atmosphere and with a dog friendly policy. The park is easily accesible for wheel chair users and the benches around the park come in handy for those who have issues walking longer distances. The park beeing situated in a field away from towns, villages is very nice and gives you a better touch with nature. The large animal section is very relaxing with benches placed along it, you can have a picnic while watching the rinos, giraffes, elephants. Also note that lions might take a nap exactly when you want to film or take a photo of them...with patience you can still catch them moving around. The in park restaurant offers good food and you can enjoy the food outside in nice weather. Kids playground close to the restaurant. There are food&drink kiosks around the park. Toilets also around the park. There's a train that takes round the park for extra cost. The souvenir shop is nicely organised, affordable prices. The plush animals are very nicely made. Definitely worth a day visiting. There are tours available for groups or private. Best to buy tickets in advance. You'll find a nice biodiversity animal range.
Daniel A — Google review
I have visited with my kids. The place is very well maintained, the animals all seem happy and well kept, and there are some gorgeous spieces. You may need a full half day to enjoy possibly more if the weather is good. The restaurant (self service) is ok quality, the queue to get food may be about 30 mins and outside (so if it's raining you'll get wet).
Gio — Google review
Really beautiful place. Just a lovely park with thid anazing array of animals very thoughtfully housed to feel like you are amongst them. Lots of walk through areas to share spsce with birds and lemurs etc. Highly recommend. Very serene and wonderful. Not zoo like at all.
Caroline T — Google review
We absolutely loved our visit here, I cannot recommend it enough. Lots of different animals to see including various birds, penguins, lions, giraffes, rhinos, pigs, and goats, all set in beautiful grounds. There are various refreshment kiosks around the park (some might be closed depending on season or weather) plus a large well appointed restaurant/cafe in the centre. Expect to spend 3 to 4 hours here if you're not rushing, maybe longer if it's particularly busy or you have activities planned.

We had an amazing visit to Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens. The park is stunning — spacious lawns, well-kept gardens, and animals that are clearly cared for. The giraffe feeding area was unforgettable, and we loved the lemur walkthrough and the rhinos roaming near the manor house. Plenty of spots to relax, good facilities, and great for kids. A calm, enriching and memorable day out. Highly recommend.

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Oxfordshire, the Uffington White Horse is a remarkable prehistoric hill figure that stretches an impressive 110 meters across the hillside. This iconic chalk carving, visible from miles around, is located on the edge of the Wessex Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers breathtaking panoramic views that span six counties.
Beautiful area. A must see! It feels like hiking on a mountain.

This ancient site, managed by the National Trust, is truly one-of-a-kind. Blue badge holders and members can park conveniently at the top, while others can use the nearby lot. Be prepared for wind or a chill, especially at sunset. It's perfect for picnics, kite flying, or hiking to admire the views over Wiltshire, stretching almost into the Cotswolds. Just remember to leave no trace behind!

Amazing history and much bigger and better than expected. Lovely walk through the fields and such a majestic view of the countryside. The horse was far more stylistic than I expected.

For the history and sense in of humanity seeking to communicate, this is a must. Good free parking for NT members nearby. However we also found that up close you don’t get the full sense of the effigy.
Peter R — Google review
A pleasant and well maintained path takes you on a route from the car park to the White Horse Hill and smaller Dragon Hill. Options for longer circular walks are possible on dry days but likely to be muddy after heavy rain. Very difficult to see the white horse itself from the hill though!
Martin M — Google review
In the lush, grassy chalk hills of Oxfordshire lies one of the most famous geoglyphs in the United Kingdom. No, it's not a depiction of the dragon that Saint George is said to have slayed on nearby Dargon's Hill, but likely a local Iron Age deity. Although the geoglyph dates back to 1000 BC, a time when people were still far from flight, it's best seen from the air. Because tradition dictates that the local lord must organize (and finance) a renovation every seven years, the Uffington White Horse remains in good condition. Although this elegantly designed geoglyph is difficult to see from the ground, it's definitely worth a visit!
Koen — Google review
A great place to visit. It's not a steep walk and the views are spectacular on a good day across several counties. There is a disabled car park near the summit, contact National Trust for advice for your requirements. There is a picnic area as well by the main public car park which is chargeable, free for members. Your dogs will enjoy it as well, on a lead in areas as sheep are present. Have a good day.

Roves Farm in Swindon offers a fun-filled family day out with various activities for all ages. Visitors can enjoy tractor rides, nature walks, and even brush goats at this working farm. The farm features a cafe serving delicious food and a campsite for those looking to extend their stay. Children can explore the vast indoor play barns as well as an outdoor play park suitable for different age groups. Additionally, there is a Pets Corner where animals can be fed and interacted with.
I love Roves for me and my two young kids. Outdoors and under cover of the barns there are always so many animals to see whatever the season, with tons of hands-on opportunities any kid would enjoy. Goats, pigs, sheep, cows, chickens are year round residents plus the babies! So cute. Plus a big outdoor play ground. Indoors there’s loads too for when it’s cold. The baby soft play area is great and the bigger kids soft play is so well padded with slides that keep even my adventurous 5yo entertained . Plus the rabbit warren is a unique adventure for all ages, something really different and the cafe sells good food and drink with the farm shop just off it for something to take home.

We spent time at Roves Farm, at the end of July, for my granddaughter’s first birthday party. We had a fabulous time. Lovely farm, soft play area and cafe. A farm shop that’s a must to visit and an outdoor play area too. Animal petting and a real connection with nature for the kids. It’s set back, private and it feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere. An amazing spot. I had five grandchildren there and they all had the best time. The food was amazing, really good portions and lovely coffee. The entry prices are pleasantly surprising compared to other petting farms and the biggest plus is that the staff are all absolutely lovely. They’re a credit. I’m really looking forward to getting back there soon.

Absolutely love Roves Farm! We go every year around Jan, Feb to see all the wonderful baby animals. My favourite thing to do there is cuddle the baby goats. Every 30 mins you have an activity for the kids like feeding, petting/ meeting various animals. There's a brilliant outdoor play area and an I really indoor one with a full-sized MDF 'rabbit warren' with 3 levels of tunneling maze for the kids to explore. The cafe and farm are equally brilliant! We always come away with great goodies!

We were travelling to a Swindon destination, and wanted somewhere for a coffee, not a chain, as we were a bit early. Excellent cup of coffee, plus the bonus of a farm shop, and you should follow signs for farm shop parking, as the other parking is for the visitors who are attending the children's attractions of which there were many, and I was amazed by the number of things they could do. Have to pay an entrance fee to use the attractions, but particularly the tractor tour, when I was there looked very popular. Coffee shop and restaurant had lots of seating and a variety of food to choose from and an indoor play area at the end. The farm shop was small but perfectly formed and was a bonus as it had some items I've not seen in other similar establishments, and so purchased a couple of items to take home. Sadly, their own home made pies, which were good value and looked very tasty were frozen, and would have defrosted by time we got home, but if passing through the area on way home would definitely stop and get some. Definitely Recommended.

Lovely day out for all. We took our granddaughter to Roves Farm on the 14th August and had a wonderful time. The tractor ride was really good, the driver was very interactive and gave lots of fact about the farm and how it's run throughout the year and how the animals are looked after. All the staff were very pleasant. The facilities were clean and there was more than enough to keep each child entertained no matter the age range. Plenty of areas for picnicking or to eat in their café/restaurant and wasn't overly priced. Highly recommend a visit.
Jeanette G — Google review
Hiya Roves. You, as always are amazing. My 5 year old would be here everyday if she could. One tiny criticism is not you but the people that use your facilities. There were people constantly in the play area wearing shoes and wellies. I counted 8 parents in the space of a few minutes, 1 dad even came down the slide with a coffee. Plesse, please please get on top of this. There will be animal poo on their shoes.

Not to mention the amazing wooden carved sculptures dotted all around the huge area of walks and cafe space!

Stanton country park is a lovely place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, with many tracks to explore and streams, and lakes, and sculptures to enjoy as you walk around. There is a coffee shop open most days and the country house the other side of the grounds. Ducks and swans live on the pond and you can see fish if you go into the fishing platforms. The heritage museum Crofton Beam Engines is a must-see for anyone interested in steam engines and canal history. The building housing the engines is still in its original location, on the Kennet and Avon Canal, and provides wonderful views of the canal and countryside. The volunteers running the site are friendly and enthusiastic, providing plenty of information about the engines and canal history.
We were very fortunate to get a private tour as we had been given an out of date leaflet at the hotel so the place was closed. Luckily they were doing a volunteer training day and trying out a coal substitute and we were invited in for a tour. The boiler was at full steam and both pumps were working alternatively. The volunteers enthusiasm was quite infectious and great to see people giving up so much of their time to keep this wonderful bit of history working. There is no admission fee but you will be expected to leave a donation which we were pleased to do as we learnt so much.

Avebury, located in Wiltshire, is renowned for its Neolithic stone circle and henge, which are estimated to date back to 2500 BC. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers wide open views of rolling chalk downland and a plethora of archaeological treasures such as Neolithic long barrows, Bronze Age round barrows, and Iron Age forts.
We had a great time exploring Avebury. It was recommended by a friend. We explored the the area. Our National Trust passes came in handy. Although the stones are free, we used our passes to gain entry to the rest of the site. We visited the little museum, the dovecote, the church and the gardens. Sadly, the old manor was not open due to a flood. We had a wander around the village. They had an amazing cake sale, yes, we had cake. The gift shops, both NT and the village had some great gifts. Cafe and usual facilities. It was a gorgeous day, so it was busy. Having a blue badge got us parking in the village carpark. A fantastic day

A magical place. So wonderful to just wander around the stones, the trees. Plenty of places to eat and drink. The 'Elements' shop is incredible.. Don't miss it. The museum is pretty small but worth visiting. Parking in Avebury is a problem... Only paid.. But if you want to do a bit of walking, you can park outside the village in a by lane and walk in as I did getting extra sites in like 'The Sanctuary ' and some barrows too. Totally worth visiting!!!

The stone circle here feels more alive and peaceful unlike Stonehenge that can get very crowded as you can imagine, it's freely open to walk among the stones and feel the ancient energy of the place! The village, the museum, as well as the nice nearby trails making it a perfect day-trip for anyone interested in history, spirituality, or just a beautiful walk through the English countryside.

This was an amazing site to see and visit. The stone circles were spectacular. The fact that you can still go up to them and touch them, is a huge positive. The only thing lacking were benches, for older, handicapped or special needs people to sit on.

Beautiful area. Incredible countryside. The ancient stones are a really special place & I would advise anyone to visit.

As a member of English heritage we didn't have to pay parking but people were moaning about having to pay for a full day no other options and £8 to much. We went in the museum which explained a lot about the excavations and all the artifacts that were found in the ditches. The walk around the stones was getting muddy with all the rain but it was still a good day out.

Worth the visit. I thought better than going to Stonehenge, only have to play for parking, you can walk around the stones and village for free. Bigger layout than Stonehenge, but not quite as spectacular stones.

Nestled in the picturesque English countryside, West Kennet Long Barrow is a remarkable prehistoric tomb that dates back to around 3650 BC. This ancient burial mound stands as one of the largest Neolithic chambers in Britain, showcasing an impressive earthen structure supported by sarsen stones. With its five internal chambers and two large stones marking the entrance, it offers a fascinating glimpse into our ancestors' rituals and beliefs.
What a wonderful example of a prehistoric burial chamber and very well preserved. There's only enough parking for 5 or 6 cars on the roadside and an uphill walk to get to the chamber but very well worth it. It felt very haunting inside the barrow and I found myself trying to imagine what like must have been like all that time ago. When I visited there were some lit perfumed t-lights at the back of the chamber which was a lovely thought and showed immense respect from someone. I'd highly recommend you visit

I didn’t know what to expect really so didn’t have high expectations as it really was just a stop off from visiting Avebury and Silsbury Hill. Parking is in a couple of lay-bys on the A4 and gets busy. There’s about a 15-20 minute walk up gentle hill to get to the barrow which appears as a mound with rocks around the entrance to a small excavation of the chambers within. Very dark as no lighting. Tbh, not sure if it was really worth the time and effort to get there when there is so much more to see around the heritage site.

Lovely hike to get to it from the A4 lay-by. Although don't do what I did and go as the sun is setting, as you'll have trouble getting back. But great sight to see if you're in the area. Takes 15-20 mins to have a nice pace up with the hill, and the same sort of time back down. Free to see, and if you time it right, it can be empty. From here you can see Silbury Hill too.

Amazing place with very peaceful and restful energy. Well preserved and making you amazed on how our ancestors lived. Great views on the Sillbury hill.

West Kennet Long Barrow is a burial place that has been partially excavated. The Barrow has an ambience of peace and stillness when you are fortunate enough to find solitude at this sacred place. The views are remarkable and it is hard to imagine it has changed much in the centuries (although it no doubt has).

This is fantastic.really shows the design and why placement and positioning was so important. Relations east to walk to from road with small spaces by grass verge to park briefly at.

This is a good example of a very historic barrow. There is limited parking on the road and it is a half mile walk to get there up a hill.

Such an amazing place to visit but wear good walking shoes as it's a bit of an uphill hike, the views are incredible, it's so ancient and peaceful, well worth a visit
