I like so much this restaurant. Very good view, good service and delicious foods 😋

Pretty nice experience overall. Food was good not great for our taste and probably a bit more expensive than we'd otherwise expect for lunch but service and location were great!
Austin K — Google review
Middle of the road. Not good, not bad. Although for the price, we expected more. Brasseries in the old city are a far better proposition. Being next to the river is nice, but the associated flies not so much.
Ferran P — Google review
Very nice and pleasant place, good food and nice lake view
Victoria P — Google review
Great setting on the river. The fish du jour dish was excellent. The staff friendly.
Benoit C — Google review
From the time we sat down, they made it quite clear to us that we were not welcome. After 3 rude looks and comments of annoyance from staff who seemed irritated that they had an extra table to serve, and no sign of any menus or drinks offers, we up and left. Definitely won’t be supporting this kind of attitude or behaviour.
Claire M — Google review
Service was good and waiter, friendly. Beautiful location!
Miché E — Google review
Had a wonderful lunch here with the greatest company I could imagine. The setting really added to the atmosphere, but my opinion might be biased due to the magnificent eyes I was looking in.

Source de l'Hôpital

Mentioned on
1 list
Bottled water supplier
Nature & Parks
Hot Springs & Geysers
Source de l'Hôpital is located in Parc des Celestins, housed in a beautiful white building that offers a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the shade and restorative waters. The water from this source is less mineralized compared to others, making it more refreshing. The Rotonde, built in 1946 by architect Louis Aublet, surrounds the spring with a temperature of 34 degrees.
Top!
Marie-astrid S — Google review
Unfortunately closed during my visit and relocated to the Pavillon des Sources for renovations, inquire at the Tourist Office to find out more ... Its impetuous gushing having earned it first being called "Gros Boulet", it took its name of Source de l'Hôpital in 1753, following the establishment of the old Vichy hospital nearby. Work carried out on its natural emergence site revealed an ancient catchment. The spring which emerges at a temperature of 34°C. has undergone many transformations. Its successive developments have been superimposed from the ancient well. When it is caught in concretions (at the end of the Middle Ages or at the beginning of the modern period), a new catchment is made of Gannat stones topped with a base forming a square basin covered with an iron grid. After being reinforced, it was enlarged in 1818 and topped with a circular Volvic stone pool surrounded by a promenade. A pavilion supported by twelve columns was erected above the spring in 1842. It primarily supplied the bathing establishment of the neighboring hospital, which was closed down in 1887 and then demolished. With spa visitors flocking during the second half of the 19th century, a new layout was necessary. The initial catchment was reworked in 1870, a pipe carrying water directly to the spa was installed, and the pool was replaced by a cast iron basin from which the water providers drew water. Since the 1942 work, water has been collected directly from the old ancient well and directed through a network of pipes to the basin, which took on its current appearance thirty years later. Long available in pharmacies, rich in carbon dioxide which gives it its characteristic sulfurous odor, recommended in cases of digestive, gastric and intestinal disorders to treat diseases of the liver, colon and pancreas. Declared of public interest by imperial decree on January 23, 1861, the spring is used as a drink distributed by the self-service refreshment stands in the Hall des Sources, as well as in the Callou thermal establishment. In view of the significant resources implemented around its initial capture, it can be assumed that the source of the Hospital has had therapeutic use since Antiquity, whether as a drink or in a bath. Converging evidence seems to confirm this hypothesis of thermalism present in Vichy for several millennia. In the distant past when Vichy was already known for its warm waters under the name of Aquae Calidae … It is the property of the City since 2021, the source of the Hospital is an integral part of the Vichy Thermal Estate.

(Translated by Google) I spent 3 hours there and I could easily have needed 1.5 hours more because there is a lot to see and read. On the other hand, I was very cold because the rooms are not heated. The place is "in its original state", funds would be needed to redo the paintings (without distorting the place as it was intended by Alice Taverne and her Father) and to modernize the visit (eg: audio guides, QR codes to access information online). There are a lot of items that we don't know what they were used for and it's frustrating. It is a place essential to the history of the region and its inhabitants, which would benefit from more media coverage and visitors. This museum required a lot of sacrifices on the part of Alice Taverne, this woman was remarkable.

I called and asked if we can come with a boy 4 years old and someone on the phone told me 'yes' and explained the prices and opening hours, pool temperature, everything. We drove 200 km to reach there and the ladies on the reception didn't allow us to enter because of our 4 years son - there is a special schedule for the little ones and can't enter any time. And we were not on the right time of course because the lady on the phone didn't explain that. So we came for nothing and they didn't want to make any exception for ONE child. Very disappointed. Also this schedule you can't see on their website.

Nice enough thermal springs with a large pool inside and outside. Not very big. If you like lower temperatures it is 30-32C. For me this was very cold and very unpleasant while I was in the water. However after I got out of the water and dried off it felt pretty relaxing. 11€ for one hour 15.50€ for one session. One hour is plenty unless you wanna freeze...

Lac des Sapins

Other Outdoor Activities
Celebrated artificial lake offering swimming, campgrounds, mountain biking & scenic hiking trails.
Great place to spend a relaxed day in nature. You may play a ball game, walk around the lake or do other outdoor activities. Possibility to hide from the rain or bad weather under a roofed area with benches and tables. A great place for a picnic.

Rude unhelpful staff and arrogant life guards who spent their time messing about rather than doing their job. We were wearing swimming trunks but told these were prohibited as unhygienic, despite this being lake water complete with ducks and even a water rat!!! Ridiculous non-sensical rules and rigorously enforced and the only thing that the lifeguards actually engaged in. Avoid!
Richard S — Google review
The area here is not quite famous for a refreshing dip on hot summer days, but you take what you get. As long as you don’t want to end up like a sardine in the surveilled area next to the parking space, you should not have a problem with wading through the mud when entering the lake. The water is not really cold, but let’s pretend you can refresh a little on warmer days. It is very nice for a walk in the woods on the other, less frequented side. SUP and pedal boat rental is not on the side of the parking space, you either have to swim or walk to the other side, also passing the aerial adventure park - which could also be a nice attraction for kids. You can also find a restaurant and an ice cream parlour. Besides the parking fee the access to the lake is free of charge, though you may find a separate lido having an entrance fee.

Had an amazing experience! I was looking forward to my trip to Firminy, especially the guided tour of the Housing Unit. Unfortunately, the tickets on the website were sold out, but after emailing the staff they made it possible for me and my friend to have the tour, which turned out to be amazing. The guide made sure to include us (non-French) in the tour and translated most of the important information. Everyone was really nice and helpful, I can’t imagine having a better experience. When we arrived there we asked if we could go up - they have set the tower up as a mini museum with about 4 floors before you reach the rooftop. The stairs are very steep (beware) but the view from the top is well worth it. Accessing the tower costs a mere €2 per person (they take card payment) and is free for children.

Beautiful village. Clean, flowers everywhere, the locals work collectively to take care of the village. The Church is beautiful, the view is stunning. Really worth visiting!

Well preserved medieval village in the Pierre D'Orrees (Golden Stones) area of Beuajolais. Unfortunately we arrived at lunchtime in November and most of the artist community shops were closed! Very pretty village with fabulous views.

Arrive 1205...told closes at 1215...info says 1230. I had 25 mins to look at something that lasts 5 at most. Dont waste yr time coming here just look at the photos in the reviews. And definitely not worth paying for just come if have national monument pass (which I didn't get to use)

(Translated by Google) I advise you to take the abbey museum and chapel pass, it will be cheaper. The visit to the places is quick, the lower chapel not much to see, the upper chapel is beautiful the paintings are magnificent but the visit itself lasts 10 minutes. The parking space is limited, the surroundings are beautiful (village vineyards, cemetery, high castle, etc.) Rock of Solutré is a towering limestone rock that offers sweeping views of the surrounding area. The hike to the top takes about 30 minutes and is popular among visitors. The trail provides fantastic views of Fuisse and the Solutre Rock, as well as vineyards along the way. It's a relatively easy walk from the parking area, making it suitable for families with children. Additionally, there is a museum nearby to complement the experience.
A beautiful day and perfect weather.

Great and easy hiking trail to climb to the top; the scenery along the trail overlooks vineyards and little hamlets and is awesome for picture taking. The view from the top of the rock is breathtaking!
Tamim H — Google review
Beautiful view from the top! Nice walk. It took us with 2 kids (8/9 years) about 90 minutes in total, including chilling for 30 minutes at the top.
Jonathan C — Google review
Popular hike it seems, quite a lot of people did the walk to the top which has a very nice view over the area. It took us +-30mins, for 1.7km. You can start at one of the (free) parkings, there should be enough place. We did the descent via Combe Robat til the town of Vergisson. Finally through the vineyards back to the parking. You can follow the yellow marks. This direction is very quiet and more fun. Our daughters of 8 and 11 joined us, and in total we walked 6km.

Very nice place to visit to get a view over the pouilly fussé vineyards. Quite an easy walk up from the parking place. Apparently Francois Mitterrand used to walk the hill once a year. There is also a museum, which was closed when we were there

Hameau Duboeuf, located in Saone et Loire, Bourgogne Franche Comte, offers a traditional regional dining experience at the cafe des deux horloges within the vine and wine park. The museum may have been closed for some visitors, but they still enjoyed exploring the shop's Beaujolais selection and tasting six wines at the bar/restaurant. The old Victorian station housing the restaurant adds a unique charm with its original glass painted ceiling and vintage travel posters.
Lovely place and especially warm care by the lady manager throughout our visit. Interesting, informative, exciting, fun and, of course, a tasty day. Recommend for all with keen interest on the culture of vines and wines. Ate the formule 2 at the cafeteria accompanied by roomfull of locals.
Eeva-Maria — Google review
We arrived knowing the museum was closed but wanted to have a shop for a few bottles from the Beaujolais selection. The shop was extremely quiet but we found a very accommodating staff member who allowed us to taste 6 wines at the bar/restaurant and then choose our favourites to buy. This staff member (sorry we didn’t catch your name) gave us 5 star level service. He truly made our day. Thanks Mr. Gentleman Kindly (not his real name).
John — Google review
As a tour guide I need to say that this place is one of the most wonderful places I have been. If you want to see the history and enjoy the beautiful Beaujolais, you must visit this place
Jorge B — Google review
Really fun afternoon! They have put a lot of effort into creating a fun way to learn about wine with an amazing collection of artifacts and great attractions. Really made me appreciate the history of wine in the region and enough going on to keep the kids going until the all important wine tasting! (Which would not happen at a normal vineyard where they would last about 5 mins!)
Michael J — Google review
Not as big as expected but it was great for adults and kids. I loved the bee ride and the outside area for the kids.
Mel B — Google review
An interesting museum dealing with just about every aspect of wine, from bottling to transportation to tasting and everything in-between. It has a few interactive areas to appeal to children, although I'm not sure how many would really appreciate this museum. There is also an included wine tasting with 2 wines. So why did I only give 3 stars? As an English speaker with weak French skills, there were a number of plaques without any English translation. But most importantly, I found the museum rather pricey: €20. There are 4 areas to view: The hamlet, the train station, the gardens and the wine cellar. When I came on October 10, the garden and wine cellar had just closed for the year, but I still had to pay full price. I'm sorry, but paying full price for half of the displays doesn't sit well with me.
Michael M — Google review
Intreating museum about the wine district and process of making wine. Sometimes it's a bit to much of a Comercial for wine ! (No mentioning of the bad sides of wine directly)

Parc zoologique de Saint-Martin-la-Plaine

Wildlife park keeping primates, from chimps to gorillas, plus big cats, birds & reptiles.
A wonderful day spent at the ZOO. Lots of exotic animals, some of which you can even walk among - birds. As you can see, part of the park will be expanded and the area will increase. The animals have very nicely decorated habitats with enough space. Inside the garden there is a snack bar and a souvenir shop. Very well stocked. Definitely an unforgettable day with pleasant memories.
Tadej B — Google review
I have mixed feelings about zoos, I went because my company organized a visit. First time in my life I've been in the presence of a gorilla, no more than a few meters away. First time I've seen a gorilla eating fruits and.... yogurt? This gorilla was being hand fed by the owner of this zoo, Mr. Pierre, he was feeding her inside her room it was fascinating to see. First time I've seen a lion run firsthand, and very upclose. And last but not least, first time I've heard a group of 10+ chimpanzees quarreling, calling out and "screaming". This zoo gave me a sense of humbleness and some sort of primal fear I've never felt before. It made me realize how majestic and imposing these animals can be, yet how beautiful they are too. I liked the back story too. I hope they are truly living up to their mission. I'm still thinking about what I saw.

Very nice zoo! The zoo was larger than I expected and had a nice range of animals. I really enjoyed seeing the Sun Bears and all of the monkeys.
Samantha E — Google review
What a great zoo. Never seen so many active animals at a zoo before. The tigers and lions were magnificent and playing with each other rather than just sleeping or pacing. Good close up viewing with all the animals. Also it's obvious that the zoo is expanding their enclosure space so it'll be interesting to see what it looks like the next time we return. Well worth the entrance fee and we will definitely return when we are in this area.
Paul H — Google review
Good zoo close by Lyon. The zoo offers some great species of animals, but I think the price is too high. You can spend a couple of hours here, but the park is small and completed within 2 hours. We missed a bunch of animals, despite taking the time to spend extra time in the park after finishing the route. We missed the coatis, servals, binturongs, dingos and some more. Very poor habitats for some animals and some animals did not seem to have any space, like the ocelots. We did really enjoy seeing the snow leopards and the arctic wolves. The park smells bad in a lot of places and the hygiene in the toilets is just bad. For such a price we expected clean toilets somewhere, but it was very poorly maintained. Parking is free. €18,50 is too much in this case, but it’s not a total waste. Hopefully it is being used for future wellbeing of the animals.
Yurivdb — Google review
Beautiful clean zoo, animals are well looked after, very reasonably priced... Great day out
Joanne S — Google review
Conservation focused zoo with quite a lot of interesting primate exhibits (amongst a lot of other types of animals). Big enough that you can spend a few hours here but also not so big that it has to take up your entire day. The zoo is positioned up a hill so there is some elevation change during your walk through but the park is entirely accessible (wheelchairs of course, but that means also strollers too Mamas… even enough room through entrances and pathways for huge American double strollers). And the layout of the enclosures up the hill allows for really good viewing of the animals in their enclosures.

Touroparc Zoo is a great combination of a zoo, water park, and amusement park, making it perfect for families with younger children. The zoo houses various animals such as monkeys, giraffes, elephants, hippos, zebras, birds, and reptiles. The attractions cater to kids up to around 12 years old and include a carousel, train rides, museums, and seasonal water slides. Visitors can also enjoy the monorail and the baby touro river.
Great park, animals well fed and taken care of, did the private visit where we could feed several animals ans it was amazing. Staff was great too.

We had a great time there with our son of 6 years old. It's not too big, but still many animals to spot! Besides animals, there are also many attractions for the little ones! We had a great day.

Great day trip for all especially in July and August when the water park is open. New slides in the pool are excellent for kids under 7 and new games are fun. I highly recommend it.

More for children, not really for the animals We saw a zookeeper use a fire extinguisher on monkeys from the side to keep them appart We had to pay for the waterpark too, eventhough we did not want to use it. It was all in the price and no other options were available, it was misleading. But he parking is free.

I visited Touroparc Zoo a couple of weeks ago to celebrate my birthday, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! What made this experience so special was how hands-on it was. Unlike other soigneur experiences where you barely get to interact with the animals, Christophe made sure we were involved and engaged the whole way through. You can tell he genuinely cares for the all the reptiles and takes great pride in sharing that with others. We had the chance to see so many incredible species up close, and he gave us a fascinating look into what it’s really like to work behind the scenes at a zoo. Thank you, Christophe, for making my birthday so memorable. Your enthusiasm made the visit come alive! Highly recommend this experience to anyone, whether you're an animal lover or just curious. Truly a 10/10!

Very! nice park but absolutely ridiculous how weird they are about the height in the attractions, when accompanied by an adult. I was not allowed to drive the horses attraction with my baby who really got to love this attraction in Parc le pal. We stood 15 minutes in the burning sun. When it was our turn he pointed at the sign saying my baby should be 90cm. At Parc le pal we did this attraction multiple times without an issue. This ruined the moment. All other safe attractions you can do as parent with your kid, is not allowed, really frustrating. The wild water attraction or the mono rail are allowed :/ Please check your height restrictions... Everything else is really nice, but above gave everything a bad taste.
Dylan M — Google review
We visited on a cooler weekday in September and the place was very quiet which was perfect for us to see all the animals It's clear the animals are well cared for and healthy The rides and water park looked good but they were not available this late in the season

The VIP and Soigneur experiences are totally worth it. We have done the VIP visit twice and the both times was super amazing. Highly recommended. We chose to do the Soigneur experience in the reptile house and we're extremely happy with our choice. It was very very interactive and we learned so many interesting facts from Christoph. Thanks so much for the amazing experience with Curu, the snakes, lizards, iguana, crocodiles, and turtles!

(Translated by Google) Ugh, a money making machine.... I came there with my partner. (54 years and a little more for her for information, for a meal show, our Christmas present) Friendly welcome and immediately afterwards, obligation to take a photo with "2" artists, which you can buy for €9. Apero worthy of... I don't have a name, Lidl or Aldi is better! : Auvergne Taost (one passage to spread out, one to pick up what is placed on the Taost) Punch... without alcohol or very little, and without taste... except sugar. The basic STARTER, the dish - chicken fillet - just not good: chicken pierced in Saumur, dirty and waterlogged... so very, even too tender to be of good quality. Just spiced up with a porcini mushroom sauce. The accompaniment was supposed to be polenta...semolina. Before the cheese - disgusting and bland - and the frozen 🍨, another obligatory photo for €9. The coffee worthy of the neighborhood fair to finish... Well, we're old - not too old anyway - and we like good things, maybe the show will be better. I forgot something, express meal... followed by the show, not at the same time!!!! And yes, they offer the possibility of only coming for the show (to make more money) So the show: Animation by recorded tape to get in the mood throughout the evening, artists who are good, but who only reproduce what was asked of them. Édith Piaf, I like 2 to 3 minutes, but 15 minutes is a long time.... The girls,... pretty but mediocre show.... Mixture of children's show and nonsense fair. Anyway, after 25 minutes of show we left. I don't understand why you have such a rating. It seems that the food is not important and neither is the quality of the show. We have had other evenings of this type, for much less money and much better. 199€ for 2 + 37 euros for 2 glasses of champagne. Yes, if you want to change dessert, it’s €5!!! No photos because prohibited and very often recalled by the soundtrack (it's better to pay €9 for it 🤣🤣🤣) Conclusion: flee this place!!!

Théâtre Gallo Romain, also known as the Gallo-Roman theatre, is a significant historical site in Lyon that offers a glimpse into the city's ancient Roman past. The ruins of two Roman theaters are now used for open-air concerts and festivals, providing visitors with a unique cultural experience.
This place is really cool. It’s free and easy to find. It is one of the cooler Roman ruins because it is still being used today. It was fun watching people enjoy it like a park. Would highly recommend visiting then heading over to the museum!

Amazing ruins to check out within a close walk from the Cathedral nearby. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to explore the inside of the museum, and since we were heading to Rome it seemed appropriate to postpone anthing Roman to our later trips. The ruins themselves however, still are able to immerse you in history and come alive as you walk through them.

A place to marvel, was for the community back then, still is now (so I heard). Will be wonderful to be part of activities here, but even just a quick stop on the way back from the Basilica already gave me glimpses of stories this awesome place has. Basking in the morning sun, this open air theater sure is special. Do visit the museum if you have the chance.

The ruins are open for people to just wander around and take photos, there is a museum that I did not go into. From there it's a short walk trip the basilica and the amazing views from there. You can also walk from there back to the old town which includes a very long and steep staircase.

Walking through the theatre feels like stepping back in time, with its impressive stone seating, partially intact stage, and gentle slopes inviting exploratio. The site is remarkably well preserved, allowing visitors to walk freely among the ruins and soak up the atmosphere where audiences once gathered for performances nearly two thousand years ago.

This was a very happy but unexpected discovery. There are many information points explaining what each space used to be, and this is supported by images of the buildings -this is certainly helpful because you’re only seeing stones! A must when visiting Lyon!

The Ampitheatre was still in good condition considering how old it is. There are a lot of modern overlays here as the space is used for events etc. I think it would be an amazing venue. Go to the museum which tells the story of how Lyon was founded by the Romans. The Ampitheatre is so out in the open and there is no shade so be careful on hot days. You can look at the Ampitheatre for free but the museum has an entry fee.

Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière is a 19th-century religious monument in Lyon, France. It features four octagonal towers and houses a museum showcasing religious art. Regular Catholic services are held at the basilica. Visitors can enjoy a romantic evening in Lyon by staying at the Boudoir Spa, which offers luxurious accommodations with amenities such as a Jacuzzi and hammam, providing an ideal setting for special occasions or simply spending quality time together.
You can see the Basilica from almost everywhere in the Lyon old town but it is well worth heading up to see it up close. Take the funicular (walking back down is nice) to get there. The Basilica is in such lovely condition. The murals look amazing and there is a real sense of peacefulness. Make sure you take the time to look closely at the murals. My favourite was the one depicting Joan of Arc. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy. We didn't have to wait to go in. It is free to visit. There is a lovely courtyard next to the Basilica where you get some amazing views over Lyon.
Craig C — Google review
The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is one of Lyon’s most iconic landmarks, visible from almost anywhere in the city. Personally, I usually find the interiors of Orthodox churches more spiritual, but this basilica’s interior really amazed me — it’s beautiful and inspiring. The exterior is just as impressive, and the panoramic view over Lyon from the top is fantastic. You can get there easily by tram, or hike up if you prefer (which I’d also recommend). Nearby, the Roman Theatre and archaeological site are free to visit and very well preserved. Both the basilica and the ruins are definitely worth seeing.

Arriving late evening in Lyon, our Uber driver took us here on a quick detour to our hotel ‘because it is so very beautiful, and you guys can see view of Lyon skyline from there’. Indeed it was a beautiful Basilica, majestic even in the dark of night. Indeed it was an impressive view of Lyon. Very grateful of him, blessed his soul. I got the chance to go back the next morning, and although did not got the chance to go inside, my appreciation grew even more about the opportunity to visit. A must go when you are in Lyon. If your hotel is not nearby, they have tram from the city center that stops directly in front.
Milka C — Google review
Beautifully located on top of a hill, and Best to take an Uber to get there. There is also a vista point on the side of the church with great views of the whole city. If you can walk down the hill, you can visit a nice museum with an outdoor Greek theatre. You can also take a short cut and walk the stairs down the hill

Lovely place to visit in Lyon. Get a day ticket for € 6.90 and couple of trains later you are there. Beautiful views of the city (sunset as well). Basilica is amazing. Don't compare it with Vatican however it is grand in its own way.

It is a marvelous place to visit even when you are not Christian. The interior of the basilica Notre-Dame of Fourvière in Lyon, is tremendously high. The walls are astonishing and it drops your mouth down to the floor. I have not taken many pictures inside because my eyes were focused on all the tiny details in each stunning things my eyes would lay eyes on. If one thing to visit in Lyon, it clearly is there and Paul Bocuse Market^^.
Anne-Cécile — Google review
What a beautiful basilica one has the pleasure to see, adore and to participate because during our vist a mass was held. The church has an endless history to show, not only in the holy Christian sense but also in its rich architectural designs. A real treat to be there.

The Musée des Confluences, located in Lyon, is a striking modern museum that opened in December 2014. It boasts a futuristic architectural design and is situated at the confluence of the Rhone and Saone rivers. The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions that delve into anthropology, natural science, and human history. Its iconic structure resembles a transparent crystal cloud made of stainless steel and glass.
Really nice museum! The building itself is impressive and easy to navigate, so you don’t feel lost while walking around. Exhibits are well organised, interactive, and fun — I especially liked the audio parts and the buttons to press. The themes are diverse, from Darwin’s evolution to marine biology and astronomy, so there’s something for everyone. Most of the info is in French and English (though some videos are only French). The architecture is stunning, and the view from the 4th floor is a nice bonus. Definitely worth a visit!

When I visited it was a free admission day. The museum is impressive, good quality exemplars , exhibition are for every age. On the roof they have a nice cafe and you can enjoy the view from the top.

This might be one of the best modern museums I went to, really! It's very complete and I think kids would love it- there were a lot of enthusiastic ones when we went, at least. Their permanent expositions are very well detailed and easy to navigate, they're mostly about natural history, anthropology and culture, not much art history, or at least I didn't find one. Everything has french and english explications. On the entrance to each permanent exposition, there was a guide who would give a general feel of the pieces, and they could speak English too! Their temporary expositions were interesting and very well done, we went to the Amazon and the dreams ones, both very interesting. We didn't have to pay extra for these. They had elevators for all stages, and there were a lot of audio explanations too. On the terrace there was a lovely - albeit a bit expensive - cafe, with nice views. If you're not hungry, the terrace is included on the ticket price anyway, so you should go at least for the view. A must see in Lyon, for sure!

Amazing exhibitions. This was my second time here and it felt like the first. Thoughtfully arranged and curated museum perfect for all ages. The current Zombies exhibition is one of a kind.

Interesting permanent and temporary exhibitions with lots of interactive elements - especially liked the Species wing of the permanent exhibits. Ticket price was reasonable (12 Euros) and the 4th floor outside terrace views are worth the price of admission! Oh yeah, and it has the most innovative shape for a museum!

Nestled in the historic heart of Lyon, the Musée Cinéma et Miniature is a treasure trove for film enthusiasts and miniature art lovers alike. Set within a beautifully restored 17th-century building, this museum showcases an impressive array of hyper-realistic miniature scenes that transport visitors into the world of cinema.
This museum was very well laid out. We enjoyed the smaller exhibition rooms which were usually themed in some way. We absolutely loved the Wes Anderson exhibit and would definitely recommend visiting if you enjoy his movies. I'm personally not into a lot of movies which definitely took away from the experience. However, if I were into them I can guarantee this is an amazing place to visit. Just fair warning to anyone like me that this might not be the perfect place for you. The miniature exhibits were excellent, we were in awe at how detailed some of the pieces were!
Katelyn — Google review
Really enjoyed my visit here - so many interesting exhibits and things to see. I think the best part is the fact that the films referenced and the props from the films are films that are very well-known, not just random French films. Would highly recommend to people as an activity in Lyon, however my one small issue was that we bought tickets in advance but still had to line up in the same queue as everyone else, so buying a ticket in advance was fairly pointless, only decreased the price slightly. But other than that really loved it.
Peter C — Google review
AMAZING! I think should be a must do when you visit Lyon with kids or just if you like movies and a different type of art. They have created incredible mini and real size scenes from movies and normal life things! A different way to know history as well! We went without tickets and ending paying less because they have a family packet. If you are 2 adults and one or more kids, it is definitely cheaper.
Angelica B — Google review
Worth visiting. You should go and see everything they placed in the museum. At first we enjoyed the props & artifacts from famous movies. However what we liked most is the miniature room, carefully detailed and amazinggg
Phuc N — Google review
Incredible and unique museum. They have some really cool pieces from films, which are still interesting to look at even if you haven’t seen them. The miniature section was a good surprise also—they are so detailed and realistic! While it is a bit on the more expensive side, it’s worth it and it is an independent business.
Evie F — Google review
Walking through this museum felt like stepping straight back into my childhood (I was born in the mid-80s), and it was nothing short of magical. From Star Wars to Batman 1989, from Aliens to Beetlejuice, the collection is packed with iconic treasures that instantly spark memories of the films that defined an era. According to one of the staff, the Darth Vader mask here is the only original one on public display today, that alone is worth the visit! What sets this place apart is how personal it feels. I love the great art museums of France, but this was different, so much more relatable. Every piece triggered a wave of nostalgia, reminding me of movies I adored and had nearly forgotten, and reigniting the sense of wonder that first made me fall in love with cinema. These films came from the golden age of moviemaking, where practical effects and early CGI blended to create timeless magic that today’s movies rarely capture. Seven floors are filled with cinematic history, and while you can see it all in about 1–2 hours, it’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger at your favorites. For me, highlights included the Darth Vader helmet, the full Batman 1989 suit and vehicles, the wonderfully complete Beetlejuice exhibit, and the jaw-dropping animatronic Alien that makes you feel like you’re right on set. Seeing Thor’s hammer (Mjolnir), Iron Man’s glove, and nods to classics like Indiana Jones, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, The Mask, and even Fast & Furious only added to the thrill. If you grew up with movies from the late 80s through the early 2000s, this museum is pure nostalgia wrapped in cinema magic. It’s a time machine back to Saturday nights at the theater or trips to Blockbuster, and it will leave you smiling long after you leave. I can’t recommend it highly enough. As a bonus, all the staff that work there are friendly, knowledgeable and passionate! Update: the top floor which houses the miniatures was closed when we arrived for renovations. If this is important to you, come back when they are completed.

As someone also work behind the magic, visiting this musuem is like a dream, from costume to props, set to figures… You can’t miss this, this is prob is the best musuem I’ve seen about cinema, movies. The visit was like a dream come true, from my fav movie Mary Poppins from 1964, to Jurassic world, kill bill to Beetlejuice, alien to Spider-Man! Last the not least, the Wes Anderson section, with some movie items and making off?! Seriously I’m so glad I come to Lyon for this!

With over 30 years of experience, this establishment continues to impress with its sumptuous creations available at multiple locations in Lyon.
We had to try a “Tarte À La Praline” during our short stay in Lyon and it was excellent. Very tasty crust. A must try. Service was quite slow as there was only 1 person assisting customers which was not her fault and she did her best to help everyone.

In my quest to find the best macaron in Lyon I systematically tried a macaron at each shop in the food hall. Sève’s were by far the best, with my favourites being 1) Caramel 2) Coconut 3) Coffee. I must’ve gone back 3-4 times in one day. They are quite expensive, which meant I could only afford to try 8, but this is reflected in the quality. The staff were lovely and very accommodating of my terrible French. Merci!

The pastries are so pretty, it feels almost guilty to eat them. Nonetheless, I ate them. I ordered the chocolate mousse one and I was thinking of getting more but it's so rich that I was very full at the end. I'd like to go back and more of the pastries. There were dozens and dozens!

This is a nice indoor market. It has quite different atmosphere to la boqueria market in Barcelona. Both of them are great place to see and eat. But, this market has unique features like quiet and less crowded. Local fruits, cured meat , and seafood were excellent. My wife and I enjoyed cured meat and varieties of seafood, oysters, sea urchins, shrimps, and clams. They know how to sell and packages cured meat. One of stores used a vacuum sealed package for cured meat. We felt safe to carry them. All of staffs were friendly and kind. One of members even made a luxury restaurant reservation for us. I think that they know good local restaurants because they are the food suppliers.
