Beautiful and peaceful place with great facilities and warm hospitality. The vegetarian food was delicious, and everything was well-organized and clean. Easy to reach with good parking. A lovely cultural and spiritual experience – highly recommended!

I visited this beautiful chateau many years ago. They have done some wonderful restoration work and the place is even more beautiful than before. A credit to all the hard work and vision. I will be visiting again, but I won't leave it so long next time.

Amazing and wonderful experience to visit the Hindu Temple in a huge Castle complex with a Goshala, lodging, free meals service.....in a remote village of Belgium. Visited on Janamashti and found non Hindus of German French and Belgium adopted with diksha from Iscon doing seva,Kirtan joyously becomes a amazing spiritual experience. A must visit on Janamashti particularly when about 2000 devotees of Hindus and other nationals pay visit and also enjoy the vegetarian meals as prasadam prepared by the management. One of Belgium's hidden gems, Radhadesh is the largest Hindu temple in the country. The temple is the home of the beautiful Radha-Gopinatha deities. The property also includes an amazing vegetarian restaurant and bakery, as well as gift shop where you can buy amazing Indian products. There is also a wonderful Gosala with many protected cows and bulls. I highly recommend that if you happen to be passing through the area that you visit this wonderful temple!
Nimai T — Google review
Wanted to show something different for the kids to broaden their world view, thought this was a good option in a beautiful area. But you can only enter the temple if you pay a 1:15 hr guided tour, which is not something any kid would be interested in, so we left.
Tamara F — Google review
We did not stay over there but visited the temple, had some snacks from the restaurant, little one played in the small playground and visited the boutique. The temple - the usual Iskcon temple. Impressive to have turned this little castle into a temple. Everything is well set up, area to wash hands and feet, enough place to put shoes away, a friendly reception to guide those who want to see around. The restaurant- looks clean, the small things we ordered were delicious and price was okay. The boutique - quite expensive in my opinion but one can browse and look at all different articles: clothes, instruments, books, spices, statues, cosmetics and small things like keychains etc Goshala - the cows look happy and well taken care of. The person managing is very friendly and open to communicate and we could even touch the lovely cows.

Amazing place to visit. Would highly recommend if you're interested in spirituality and Indian culture. Beautiful castle and landscape. Great people working for the temple and surrounding shops.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Modave Castle, located in the charming town of Modave, is a picturesque historic site surrounded by lush woodland. Dating back to the 13th century with significant restoration in the 17th century, this grand chateau showcases high baroque architecture and offers self-guided tours with informative audio guides. The castle's interior is remarkably preserved, providing visitors with a glimpse into its past grandeur.
The audiotour worked very well throughout the castle and was very informative. It is very beautiful inside. We went late in december and each room was decorated for Christmas. Which we liked very much and looked very cosy. On the Castle grounds was a stall where you could enjoy hot drinks and food. Of which we got hot chocolate, crepes and in the Christmas theme mulled wine. The food and drinks were good, not bad, not great just normal good food.
Veerle P — Google review
The visit to the castle was very pleasant. The audio guide they provide is very good and complete. The castle needs some maintenance, but it's beautiful and interesting. We enjoyed tour, which took around 1:30.
Fiama V — Google review
Modave Castle is a great place to visit, with a very interesting part of Belgian history explained throughout the rooms. The parking is free and located right next to the entrance, which makes the visit very convenient. There are three levels to explore, each offering something different and well-presented. The surroundings are beautiful, and it’s also a wonderful spot to enjoy the sunset thanks to the scenic views over the valley. Definitely worth a visit!
Yarmali O — Google review
Perched on a strategic rock high above the valley, this 17th-century Belgian château exemplifies Baroque grandeur. Its elevated position not only offered military advantage but also symbolizes the dominance and power of its aristocratic builders. The château's meticulously preserved interiors and ornate details reflect the opulence of the era, while the guided tours provide a rich narrative of its historical and cultural significance. The surrounding landscape, with its serene gardens, enhances the intellectual experience, offering insights into both historical land management and the aristocratic life of the time.
Ward D — Google review
Stunning interior with nice hiking possibilities around. You can also book your event here.
Jakub S — Google review
Modave castle is brilliant to visit at Christmas as the part open to visitors is superbly decorated. An absolute Christmas must! Also for children there is a small fairy hidden in each room for them to spot, 30 in all! As a plus free entry for children under 12 (accompanied by their parents). There was a stand selling crepes and drinks outside and tables available inside.
Kim — Google review
Lovely escapade in the wallon countryside and visiting this well preserved chateau. The surroundings are beautiful and you can go for a walk and picnic not too far from there.
Petar N — Google review
Lovely place, great Audioguide. Only thing to improve: give the viewers more insight into the life off the staff/servants. The basement has great potential for an exposition focused on the workers.

Maison Leffe is a captivating beer museum located in the heart of Dinant, Belgium. Housed within the former Bethleem convent, which has been transformed into the upscale La Merveilleuse Hotel, this museum offers an immersive experience that delves into the rich brewing tradition of Leffe dating back to 1240. Visitors can explore the history of this renowned beer brand through interactive displays and touch-screen exhibits.
The most amazing experience!!! The tour only costs 15 euros and it includes an interactive history tour about the brewery and the beer tasting with Leffe beer glasses as gifts!! The staff members were amazing and the atmosphere was lively. 10/10 would come here again!!! Definitely go visit if you are in Dinant
Elene S — Google review
Self guided tour was not that special but for €15,- not much more to be expected if it also includes a glass and a beer. The patio view is nice and it’s a good quick stop for a beer kind of experience
Nick E — Google review
The museum itself is nothing special at all. Its self guided and you can walk through in 5 minutes. But for the 15 eur you get 1 free beer. A full glass. And also a welcome present. And dogs are allowed. The tasting area is in a lovely grassy area. So, its worth it. Free parking directly in front. You can of course skip the musuem and pay for beer. They also have some small bites.
Paul H — Google review
Very disappointing experience. €15 per person to see a gimmicky video tour (lasts about 10 minutes) which is completely lacking in interest. Just watching a boring video on a screen mounted in a picture frame. You get a beer included but it’s a small measure with very moody service. All in all a very expensive way to have a beer. We left feeling ripped off and offended by the 2 rude ladies who were ‘serving’. I did wonder if they were having a bet with each other on who could get away with being the rudest!
Amanda B — Google review
Nice place to learn about the history of Leffe beer. Entry prices are fine. For €15,00 you get access to the Maison Leffe, a free gift( beautiful Leffe glass) and a free Leffe beer at the bar. Enjoyed it a lot.
Eddy S — Google review
It's not a factory nor a brewery, just a little museum. There is not much to see but they explain Leffe's hystory and their products. A beer and a glass are included in the price
Luca R — Google review
Wonderful experience. Lovely rooms and dining / bar area. The grounds were beautiful and lovely to walk around with a nice Leffe brew.

Nice brewery to visit, friendly folks, good explanation, three beers to taste afterwards - €10 pp, good value! Tour takes about 30 mins, tasting another 60 min - reservation recommended

Visited as part of a group. Very interesting talk about how beer is made followed by some excellent beers brewed on the premises. Well worth visiting if you get the chance
Steve W — Google review
We did not eat here but had a brewery tour. The host gave a great presentation on the production of their beers. He was informative with a sense of humour. The Dame Babich was my favourite beer. Thank you for a lovely tour and I would like to see your beer in the UK.
Dave M — Google review
Very friendly service, most of all the ladies and the girls. Fantastic beers, first of all the aged ones. Great snacks, especially the cheese (and it's jelly), the rillettes and the tartinades. Book a visit of the brewery: it's difficult to improvise it. Great location, with lots of space in front of the church. Great events, especially movie nights. I also love their shop and the furniture inside.

I haven't been here but I've tried their beers which are superb, especially Madame Bibiche.

Pont Charles de Gaulle

Mentioned on

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Pont Charles de Gaulle, also known as the Charles de Gaulle Bridge, holds a significant place in history due to its connection to the Battle of Dinant during World War I. The bridge is a popular tourist attraction located near the Citadel of Dinant and offers stunning views of the Meuse River. It is adorned with multiple saxophones representing different countries, serving as a tribute to the European Union.
The bridge offers a beautiful view of the city center. Here you can take a tourist tram to explore the whole city. Near the bridge, further down the street, there are boat stops for a walk along the river. It's definitely worth doing.
Solomiia S — Google review
A unique bridge uses saxophones to pay tribute to two great men and countries. Built in 2010, the bridge is adorned with saxophones. Painted in unique colors, one saxophone takes on the appearance of a basketball, another resembles a mermaid, while another depicts a castle and a dragon. Each saxophone is placed in front of its respective flag, paying homage to the country it represents. That’s because the Belgian city of Dinant is where Adolphe Sax – the inventor of the saxophone – was born. In 1841, Sax invented the saxophone, which was one of many instruments he would influence or create in his heyday. His first major invention was to improve the design of the bass clarinet. Of course, the Charles de Gaulle Bridge also pays homage to the French general it is named after, who led the French resistance against Nazi Germany in the 1940s (as a junior officer at the time). Today, Belgium’s Charles de Gaulle Bridge remains a colorful and playful way to pay tribute to two great men of the past and to the unity of the European Union. The Charles de Gaulle Saxophone Bridge is located in the city of Dinant in Belgium. The bridge is located at Rue de la Gare, near the Gare de Dinant train station next to the Meuse River.
Dimitris — Google review
Great place for lunch - many riverside cafes and interesting things to see.
Paul B — Google review
A fun bridge full of Saxophones dedicated to the invention of the saxophone by aldolphe in the town of Dinant . Each of the saxophone’s are designed but a certain country
Graham S — Google review
I can't believe I almost didn't see the view as I drove past on my way to the train station.
Luka S — Google review
A great tourist attraction on top of the Meuse river close to Citadel of Dinant connected via a cable car. The bridge has multiple saxophone representing countries. History says the saxophones were set out along the bridge the placement in a tribute to the countries of the European Union in 2010. It was in that year when it was celebrated here the Europe Sax and when it was decided that each saxophone would represent to a European country.
Ajay M — Google review
This is a bridge on the river Meuse. When in Dinant, you will see this bridge while exploring the city and the surroundings. Would suggest to park the car and take a walk on the bridge and the surroundings. A sunny day gives all the more charm to this city. A few more places to explore around this bridge. Walking around would be a good choice. One of the good places to spend a relaxed time with family & friends. Recommend it.
Amith G — Google review
Very nicely decorated bridge with different saxophones. It's a view point to get beautiful pictures of Dinant. It's in the heart of the city. You can't miss it. Next to the bridge is the statue of Charles de Gaulle.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Notre-Dame Collegiate Church in Dinant is a Gothic-style church constructed in the 13th century, boasting a distinctive pear-shaped bell tower. The city also has the Citadel which offers dramatic views of the town and surrounding area. Dinant, known as the birthplace of Adolphe Sax, features numerous saxophone statues throughout the town. Additionally, visitors can enjoy multiple museums including a war museum and Disney museum.
This was my favorite cathedral I saw in Belgium. I love the dark green/gray stone and the mountain-church vibe. The stained glass window is absolutely breathtaking. It is very large and brilliantly colored with the sunlight illuminating it. There is a row that depicts women in the scriptures which was so cool to see.
Renée R — Google review
Beautiful church. I visited early in the morning and there was no one. The ceiling and windows were incredible. Free admission, at least when I visited. There are many signs with information in French and Dutch, but unfortunately nothing in English. There’s some printed guides in French, Dutch, English (which was missing) and Spanish with some extra information about the stained glass windows and the history of the church in general. There’s a small room with a video in French that has English subtitles too.
Lucas K — Google review
This is one of Dinants best landmarks, one of the very few churches that is still standing from the 13th century. The stained glass windows are enormous. They cast an interesting light throughout the building, with the greenish hue of the columns this place is remarkable to stand in.
Graham S — Google review
Very beautiful church, both architecture and decoration are marvelous. Especially the paintings on the glassy structure. At night the front of the church was illuminated.
Youcef Z — Google review
Amazing church in the heart of the city. Majestic architecture and with a history of the past. The black dome of a church is rare to see. And it looks shiny on a bright sunlight. The city in itself is quite vibrant and you can view the church from different angles from various parts of the city. A very nice stroll in the front.
Shantanu S — Google review
As soon as you enter Dinant, you must visit the cathedral, which is stunningly beautiful. Its architecture completely mesmerized me.

Citadelle de Dinant

Mentioned on

Museums
Castle
Dinant Citadel is a medieval stronghold and museum that can be accessed via 408 steps or a cable car. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley. Admission fee of 11 is required, regardless of where one parks. A ticket counter can be found at both the top and bottom entrances, with limited access. Visitors may choose between taking the stairs or cable car, but must still wait in line and pay the fee.
The ticket to cable car and citadel is included. The steps are more but its worth to climb as view gets better. The world war museum is interesting and they also give tablets to listen as guide. There is a small souvenir shop, but i found better magnets and glasses in the store below the citadel. And there was little waiting period for cable car.
Dr. N — Google review
You can walk up the steps to the top but there’s also a cable car which is worth taking. The view from the upper rampart is extensive, over the whole city of Dinant. The structure of the fort is interesting but the displays are lacking. There is also a cafe at the top where you can get minimal food & drink
Graham S — Google review
Wonderful place to visit. Amazing views over the whole of Dinant, and across the Meuse valley. Nice cafe at the top with polite staff and nice food. Beer on tap! The Citadelle is really interesting, with polite staff, interactive history pads are available use and worth it. History covered through the ages. The World War exhibition is very thought provoking and tells a sad tale. Go up on the fenicular if possible, it’s worth the ride up and down. It only takes a few minutes with amazing views of the church below. Note: there is a section of the exhibition after the ‘bunkers’ that is very sensory challenging! There are not enough signs to warn people. I have no problems with balance, but found this area challenging. Fun and funny but high potential falls risk! Not even sure what it was about 🫣
Andrea B — Google review
One of the best small museums we've been to, with a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Dinant. The citadel museum uses simple but effective tablet technology to enhance visitors' understanding of the history of the citadel and city. The exhibit about WWI, using a blend of visual, auditory and sensory stimuli, was also very moving. Both kids and adults enjoyed the visit and the "treasure hunt". We chose the entrance ticket that included the short cruise on the Meuse river and it was very nice. Fyi, we went here on the 2nd week of November and the cable car was not available and it won't be available for a few months, so we assume the cable car doesn't run in fall/winter. The 408 stair steps with railing are doable for kids and adults with moderate physical ability. There's a nice playground in the courtyard at the very end of the self-guided tour. The trip to Dinant was impromptu but we're so glad we did it. It took avout 2 hours from Brussels to Dinant by train and bus.
Thao G — Google review
it is a gorgeous town! visited in September. the price of 14 euros to visit the fortress and the cable car included is acceptable... everything is beautiful from the landscapes and what you can see in the fortress... I highly recommend it! I think it is among the most beautiful places in Belgium.
Vasile A — Google review
A small museum, but such a nice surprise! The history is explained in a really clear, easy-to-follow storyline, and the exhibitions are well done. It’s a quick visit, but you actually learn a lot and walk out feeling like you have just stepped out from the past.
Pichy P — Google review
The augmented reality tour, included in the €14 price, makes the visit more enjoyable, especially for children. On that day, the cable car was closed. To avoid climbing the 408 steps, you can access the citadel via the parking at 1 Chemin de la Citadelle, which is free and has plenty of spaces.
Lea S — Google review
The citadel is located on top of a cliff which overlooks the city, making it a prime structure for defense. In the present day, this means it’s a great place to get some incredible views of Dinant. There is a museum inside which goes in depth on the significance of the citadel during war time. It was put together really well, the town has an amazing history. Also, there is a trolley you can ride up and down the cliffside! There is also a very steep set of stairs which will definitely test your stamina. Tickets were about 14€ for adults.

Mont Mosan

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Nestled in the picturesque Ardennes, Mont Mosan is a delightful family-friendly amusement park that promises a day filled with joy and excitement for children aged 3 to 10. With an array of attractions including thrilling rides, engaging playgrounds, and even a minigolf course, there's something for every little adventurer. The park also features captivating shows featuring sea lions and parrots that are sure to leave lasting memories.
Despite being a little bit on the older side of amusement parks the quality was really enjoyable. The animals looked taken care of and the premises were nice and tidy and everything seemed safe. Every attraction has a person overseeing this activity, so nothing can go wrong. My kids loved it and so did we :) it's crazy this is a 3 minute drive from Huy's city center!
Bart L — Google review
Nice park for children.. Has some animals.. The seals show was very nice.. The park was clean and not crowded as well.. The only downside was that there was only one worker who's operating all of the games in the park 🙃🙃.. So we kept searching for her with every game my son wanted to play.
Nourhan E — Google review
Very nice park for children. It’s a bit outdated, but it has its charm, the people are very friendly and it’s fairly priced. The parrot show is great, we all loved it
Nathan F — Google review
I would give zero if I could and if it wasn’t for the sea lions show. Too far and too expensive for what they offer. Rottening poorly maintained machines, decades of moss everywhere, no music (just the creaking of the machines) all very sad. Don’t eat on site, there’s only a small friterie and nothing more.
Silvia — Google review
Perfect to spend as day with your kids. Great fun ! Nice show of parrots and sea lions. Surely recommend it.
William G — Google review
Our family discovered a new jewel! Great price for a family with children - perfect activities. Unforgettable. The Dino Park is fantastic.
Brecht N — Google review
No expectation before coming to Mont Mosan but it really surprised me in a positive way at the end. The park is certainly not new but my 7-year old daughter loves their rides. There are some newer playgrounds here and there that kids will not be bored. Even though it rained on the day we visited Mont Mosan, my daughter loves the park. I think it offers more than its price. It is a very nice amusement park for kids 3-10. Older kids may not find it amusing.

As others have noted the attractions are a bit dated, and some are better maintained than others, but it's a whole's day worth of fun for kids aged 4 to 10. We visited from Brussels on a public holiday and parking was tricky but we managed (for free). If you have serious concerns about animal abuse for entertainment purposes you might want to stay away. We got a Groupon deal for entrance but we still had to pay an extra 12€ per kid for free access to all attractions.

Citadelle de Namur

Historic Sites
The Citadelle de Namur is a historic fortress that dates back to the 10th century and has been rebuilt multiple times over the centuries. It dominates the town of Namur, covering an entire hilltop with its ramparts, tunnels, and grey walls. While much of what stands today is from the 19th and 20th centuries, it still retains its compelling medieval charm.
What a tremendous experience. The premises are huge and historically loaded. It’s a real maze, a masterpiece of military architecture bearing the signature of several major military architects like Vauban. The hosted city museum and the 7km long (4 accessible) well preserved tunnels are awesome. Adding a bit of nature, wandering, physical activity and a lot of friendliness, you’ve got a wonderful experience and the need to come back and discover the actual City.

Lovely place to go on a day and family trip. The place is enormous. There is plenty of things to do. You could take the telepherique, eat in the top hill restaurant, go hiking, taking photos of Namur from the top, take the touristic train, and more. You can also park in different stages of the citadel and for free.
ALMUDENA S — Google review
Quality family walk here. Views are stunning. We drove to the top to go to the kids play park which is about 10-15 mins away from the Citadelle, so that helped with children and walking up a hill. Worth the visit and the views. Totally recommend it.

Fantastic walking area in the former fort of Namur city. Entrance to the for and grounds is free, but the museum and underground tours require a fee. It's not really that far to climb, just steep. In return you get wonderful views of the city in the north bank. If you don't fee like climbing, get the Gondola. Tickets are one way or return. One way (up) is fine in my humble opinion.
Chung H — Google review
Interesting. Great view over the city of Namur. We had our lunch on the grass. We did not have enough time to do the paid visits. They need to increase the number of parking spots. It was grossly inadequate and we were in late May. It would also be nice to have more historical exhibit available for free.

Very nice place. Can recommend the Totemus game. Fun and interactive way of discovering the citadelle and its history. The panorama has a very nice terrace, overlooking the Namur skyline.
Inge V — Google review
I suggest taking the telepherique (gondola 🚠🚡) on the way up and walk down. There's a large building next to the gondolas with a lot of artwork in it. Some exhibits you have to pay for (the VR headsets for some of the artwork). I wish there was a tour because I had no idea what I was looking at or why the citadel was there. Plenty of places to eat (there's a sort of food court building) below the walking tunnel.
L M — Google review
We bought the full pass online to see the visitor center, the underground galeries and the little train ride. Very complete visit, you leave the citadelle knowing a bit more about Namur and Belgium history. Great tour guide! (Unfortunally I dont recall his name)

The Musée Provincial Félicien Rops is a museum dedicated to the 19th-century Belgian artist, showcasing his paintings, letters, and sketches. The museum features themed groups of his art, including his time as a caricaturist in Brussels. One of the most famous works on display is the etching 'La Mort Qui Danse' (Dancing Death), depicting a skeleton in women's clothing inspired by Gothic Romantic works.
Fabulous artist, insane to think he dared to paint and draw what he did in the 19th century. The museum itself is really nice, clean, well-lit, and the staff at reception is calm and friendly. Great souvenirs and high-quality prints in the museum shops.

Never heard of this artist until visting Namur. Unexpected, but interesting subject matter. Gallery offered good value. I'm not a serious art fan, more casual/opportunistic, but pleased to add this artist to the list of those I have seen. If you have any interest in art galleries, this is highly recommended.
Richardnoller63 — Google review
A really good museum for art lovers. Great permanent exhibition of works by Felicien Rops. Nicely exhibited with lighting that goes off when there’s no one in the room. The temporary exhibit of work called ‘Hommage a Pan’ was amazing. Beautiful large scale pen and ink drawings. Such detail. Staff very friendly. The appropriate member of staff jumped in to speak English to us.
Paula L — Google review
Felicien Rops is a well known artist for picturing the ladies of the 'houses of ill repute' and a criticaster during his years as a student. But his pendrawings of ordinary people and paintings really shows his talent as well. Due to renovations of the museum of Elsene, part of the impressionist collection can be viewed as well...and even if the permanent collection is nice, this temporary exhibition makes it top.

Very interesting museum with famous arts. It's possible to visit it for free with Pass musées of Belgium.

Lovely museum covering the diversity of the work of Rops, not very large but charming. The painter is well known for his symbolic works and his nudes, but he also produced satirical etchings. Very friendly reception.

The outside of this museum is striking and worth a pass by. The inside houses many sketches and studies for larger works. I found the giant sketch for "British Empire panels" to be very interesting in it's detail and scale.

Excellent museum of the fin de siècle artist Félicien Rops. I had never heard of him before. Talented and for me surprisingly scandalous for the era.

Bois du Cazier, located in the suburb of Marcinelle, is a significant industrial heritage site in Charleroi. It encompasses a pair of museums dedicated to industry and glassmaking, as well as a former coal mine with UNESCO World Heritage status. The site provides insight into the development of mining, glass-making, and metal-working during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Wonderful museum, definitely visit if you have the chance! Every first Sunday of the month - visiting the museum is free.

Very well laid out, comprehensive. I'm a nerd, so I love seeing the old machinery. The mining museum memorial was very touching.

Excellent! Excellent! the parking lot was full so we parked in a nearby street, the entrance fee is valuable, kind staff speaks English, toilets are for free, the area is quite large, we walked independently with an electronic guide, many exhibits are related to mines and coal, machines, industry, electricity, short the film shows the history of the mine and industry and the minning accident, everywhere was clean, the spaces for visitors are outside and inside, you can spend about 2-3 hours there, interesting even for children, there is a cafe and a restaurant, I highly recommend it!
Marek S — Google review
We spent most of the day here as there was so much to see. I loved the narrative guide; it was like a conversation between a lady and a gentleman personas who worked in the mine, so I found it alive and captivating.

UNESCO site of industrial heritage. Staff is very polite and helpful. Definitely worthy of your visit. Amazing to think in what conditions people lived and worked to provide energy for the country. It is also a place of a human tragedy which took lives of several hundred people.

We spent 5 hours (incl restaurant on the site). The place is very big and very interesting. It is very recommended, also with kids.

Excellent museum well worth visiting. It teaches you a lot about the industrial revolution and mining in this area and is very in depth with sub museums also inside such as a glass museum. The staff speak good English and the displays also are in perfect English. I spent 2 hours here so this is highly recommended. Free entry also.

One of the best museum experience! A must visit for all ages. Thanks to a great audio guide, recordings of a former miner and his sister let you introduce you the life of miners and revisit the tragedy of Marcinelle and its lessons for the future, as you walk through the places which became both source of glory and shame for the country. Very moving. You cannot walk out indifferent. Could not keep my tears.

(Translated by Google) After several years of coming to Comedy Central, the atmosphere in the restaurant is no longer the same. The staff was much friendlier, warmer and more attentive. The head chef who becomes a waiter and manager doesn't appreciate it when the former staff has a kind word for the customers. The aperitifs are no longer at all comparable either in price or quantity (such as gin and tonic). Portion of fries for a child!! The soul of the restaurant has disappeared with all the old ones who have disappeared, too bad 😭😭 You lost the friendly spirit of the comedy central by merging. Les apéros ne sont plus du tout comparable ni en prix ni la quantité (tel que le gin tonic). Portion de frites pour un enfant !! (Translated by Google) Since the takeover by "Le Palace," with these few positive improvements—the welcome, the service, the new setting, the air conditioning—I find it more pleasant. I speak on behalf of six subscribers for over 10 years from the Namur region. However, changing the Sunday schedule from 5 p.m. to 4 p.m. is a constraint for us because, given the distance and the care along the way, it's a bit of a race to reserve our favorite seats. Moreover, the show ends an hour earlier, or around 5:30 p.m., which is a bit early for dinner. I think 6:30 p.m. would have been more convenient for everyone. This is just our opinion.

Wonderful place to stop at after a lovely walk through the Sint Truiden orchards and year-round to be honest. Lively, picturesque outside terrace and cosy interior. Great beers, of course, and all warm drinks with the added house whisky and eau-de-bière are delicious. Always lovely to come back.

Open on Sunday for those who want to visit a brewery when all others are closed! I have been there twice already. They have good beer and also wide selection of strong drinks like whiskey, rum and gin. The tour on Sunday is at 15.00, I have taken the tour a few years ago and unfortunately it was only in Dutch, but the tour guide was really amiable and translated in English some parts. Maybe they have English tours now, but we did not ask. As we could not stay for so long we just enjoyed their nice chalet style restaurant. We took tapas to share and a crazy choco drink for dessert. Obviously we tried the beer. Tripel Kannunik is really GOOD.

Park yourself at the tennis club in the back and be amazed by this big brewery. It has a huge terrace which is always full when good weather, simply because this place is just amazing. The staff is really friendly, even though they have to serve so much beer greedy people and run 10km in a day. Brouwerij Wilderen is brewing beer, whiskey and gin. The blond beers, Wilderen Goud and Kannunik are very tasty. There is also a smalls shop where you can buy all different alcohol at democratic prices. Did not order food here, but looks like they serve good tapas. Definitely a hotspot to enjoy the good weather!

A very interesting walk that I learned about from the magazine "Wandelen". Although the amount of mud we walked on the road was really large, we didn't mind because we were well prepared (I recommend that you bring extra shoes). Restaurant: there is no offer for vegetarians / vegans in the restaurant - even fries are not available if you do not order a piece of dead animal on a plate - it's a shame. Anyway, we skipped that. There is also a lot of interesting interactive content, nicely designed and all, but I do not understand the constant engine noise nearby which spoils the overall impression... is it some off road race track nearby or similar? As this is a protected part of nature, it would be ok not to have it that close...

The Hergé Museum, located an hour south of Brussels, is a modern building that showcases the works of cartoonist Georges Remi, known for creating the beloved character Tintin. The museum offers engaging audio tours and features an extensive display of models, pictures, and source materials used by the artist. Visitors can also admire the original triptych portrait of Hergé by Andy Warhol. The museum's gift shop is also a noteworthy attraction.
A fantastic way to spend a couple of hours in Belgium. This museum is located 40minutes away from Brussels by train but is well worth the visit. The interactive quiz that guests solve as they walk through the museum is an uniquely engaging strategy indeed. The props and storyboards as well as the audio guide make the world of Herge come alive. The museum gift shop is also lovely with some items priced decently so that no one leaves for home empty handed. A must see place when visiting Belgium.

First, the building itself is worth the visit: superb architectural creation that is both aesthetic and functional with lots of natural light. The content is arranged chronologically and is comprehensive. A fairly high degree of depth for the afficionado while also leaving the possibility to only skim and enjoy the experience. The electronic guided tour is helpful and entertaining. Any Tintin fan must make the trip to this museum if they are in the area. Easy short train ride from Brussels.
Frederic L — Google review
If you used to read Tintin as a child this museum will be a heartwarming experience, as the visitor has the opportunity to see the original sketches of the comic. This museum is dedicated to the art of Hergé who other than an amazing comic artist he had other talents as well, in Herge museum the visitor can also admire his lesser known works.

For any true Tintin buff, this is the place to be. What an exceptional experience to go through in this museum, so well designed over 3 floors. Each corner one passed one is welcomed by so many of displays from the Tintin creator. It is a great honor to visit Tintin exhibition and I would not hesitate to come back for another adventure with Tintin and his friends. Highly recommended for young and old to go for a visit there while visiting Louvain

The Hergé museum salubrate the founder of Tintin it is super famous in Europe like Desney for USA. The impact of Tintin was to learning to read understand and suck into the detailed ankmations in the book as well as all face expressions. By the side the city is car free streets änd newly built. Perfect walk from railway station too.

Being a die hard Tintin fan growing up reading his comics and watching his cartoons, Herge Museum was my main reason to visit Brussels. Visited as free entry on 1st Sunday of the month. Of course, this place has lot of Tintin stuff for fans but do keep in mind this is Herge (Georges Remi) Museum and focuses more on creator of Tintin. You learn about his family, inspirations behind Tintin characters, how things got affected by world war and there are some nice props from Tintin like Thompson Thomson car, Rocket from Destination of moon, Shark Submarine from Red Rackram's treasure. Lots of photo opportunities. The garden outside with Herge statue is also very good and there are free locker rooms to keep your luggage. Free audioguide can be connected with museum wifi to learn more about Herge. The overall infrastructure of museum is very good. The only sad part is the location of Herge Museum at louvain la neuve which is 1 hr from Brussels city by train. But when Tintin can travel to any corner of the world, why can't his fans travel to this corner for him?
Nirav P — Google review
Stunning design of the museum. Lots of information, interesting enough for children as well. I would not recommend it for very young children, they would get easily bored. Parking is a bother, but I had figured that out before coming so just park under the town square in the big garage. We got lucky and visited the museum on the first Sunday of the month which was free. The gift shop has some well priced items and some insanely priced items, bought something out of appreciation for the works of art that I had seen on display.

If you are a Tin Tin lover as me, must go there. It is a really nice museum. Museum has a modern building. At the entrance, is an official shop which has a lot of interesting Tin Tin stuff. I learned a lot about history of Tin Tin and Herge biography. It is paradise of Tin Tin fans.

Instructor Max deserves his name. He is 'the max'. We had a fantastic flight from Oostende (EBOS) to Inverness (EGPE). Flying on AP for about 1 hour while being instructed every single function of the overhead panel and preparing the ILS for Inverness in detail. Smooth, almost perfect landing on the rather short runway. Passengers Fabienne and Harmony thoroughly enjoyed the flight as well. June 6th 2024 Yes I did it again, and with Max. Two slots of 2 hours, each of them feeling like half an hour. I explicitly ask for Max to be the instructor. I was not disappointed, he still is the same professional and funny guy I met a year ago. You want to fly with Max, don't wait too long, I think he might get his full license soon, so he won't need the simulator any more.

Swimming pool
Aqualibi is a year-round indoor waterpark located at the entrance to Walibi Belgium. The park features a variety of high-speed and gentle water slides, a wave pool, and a dedicated kids' zone. The indoor facility boasts glass roofs, housing attractions such as a relaxation pool with massage jets, Laguna Verde heated to 36C with accompanying jacuzzis, and thrilling slides suitable for all ages. Visitors can enjoy river rapids and periodic waves in the main pool.
Here my detailed review: Entry fee & Parking: Parking is shared with walibi theme park. 13€ is kinda expensive but if you pay parking at the Aqualibi desk, its only 11€. The entry fee for Aqualibi is around 35€ which is ok but also not cheap but on the limit. Sadly there is no combi ticket together with the theme park. Also a chip wristband paying system could be useful, so you dont have to bring a wallet to the pool bar. Since Aqualibi is open till 10pm, it offers a nice additional experience after spending a day at Walibi, which closes already at 6pm. I entered Aqualibi at 5pm. The crowds were mid and only the new slides had some waiting. Changing rooms: The changing rooms are clean, its also unisex. Lockers are fine and are NO upcharge. Also note their clothing policy, they dont allow shorts. Pools: The main pool area is themed to some degree and features some rockwork. It has a medium sized wave pool, which can be pretty packed. The waves were only turning on once in the 2,5 hours I was there. There is also a nice relaxing Lagoon with some whirlpools. Kids play areas are right next to the Lagoon. For the ambient temperature it was kinda chilly at some spots (outdoors it was 20°C) with lots of AC running. The water temperature was just right. The cleanliness in the pools was not so great but thats usual if there is lots of people. Slides: So this is the park's main focus. The dome with the wave pool offers some slides (these are the older ones). Here you have some chill tire slides (like Bi-bob) but also some faster slides like Flash and Extreme (this one has a nasty direction change where you almost flip over). Next to the lagoon, there is the very well themed Rapido river slide. This one is lots of fun with much variation and even features a "disco" cave. Its a very chaotic and wild slide. Only minus is that they dont regulate how many people are on the Rapido, I felt like being in a "people avalanche" where you constantly bump into others or they bump into you. For the new slides, you had to wait a bit (max. 10-15min). You wait at the bottom to get a tire and then walk up to the slide's start. The slide with the bowl and with the half pipe were very popular, fun and exciting. The slides where you lie belly down on a mat are also fun but not as fast and exciting. The banzai slides (featuring 2 uphill passages) was nice but way too short and kinda slow. Cool idea but not as exciting as the others. Also not that banzai requires 2 people on a tire/boat, if you are below 68kg. After around 6pm the waits dropped significantly to even zero on most slides. (Was there on a friday) For me 3h were enough to have a good time and experience everything and doing multiple laps on the slides. Verdict: ++ slide selection ++ great in the evening after being at Walibi + theming, especially on rapido + free lockers ~ mid cleanliness ~ pricing not cheap but also not expensive ~ no chip payment wristbands
M H — Google review
Decent Fun, But Major Downsides I visited Aqualibi recently and while the slides and attractions themselves were enjoyable, several important issues affected the overall experience. Firstly, there was no proper ventilation or fresh air inside the building. It felt stuffy and uncomfortable, especially after spending more time in the pool areas. It’s a water park – fresh air is essential. Waiting times were also a big downside. We had to stand in line far too long for most slides, which really took away from the fun. The park was crowded, but queue management could definitely be improved. When it comes to food, the quality does not match the price at all. It’s overpriced for what you get – both in taste and portion size. Finally, there was too much chlorine in the water. It irritated the eyes and skin, and the smell was overwhelming in certain areas. Aqualibi has potential, but unless some of these issues are addressed, I’m not sure I’d rush to return.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an amazing day at Aqualibi Brussels! The kids had the best time — it’s a wonderfully fun and safe place to enjoy with family and friends, including young children right from toddler age. The facilities are well kept, the atmosphere is lively, and there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy, no matter the age group. One small suggestion: while the swimming costume policy is understandable and important for everyone’s safety and hygiene, it would be very helpful if this information was highlighted more clearly when purchasing tickets online. That way, guests can be fully prepared and avoid any confusion or disappointment upon arrival. Overall, a fantastic experience and we are already looking forward to visiting again soon!
Ron P — Google review
Recently visited Aqualibi on weekday around 1pm. It was too crowded due to sunny day (probably) and waited more than hour outside entrance. Considering dress code requirement , they need tight shorts for men and length should be above knee for dames. If you don’t have already so they force to buy from premises at much higher price, for instance men shorts priced 17.90€ talking about inner atmosphere, it’s quite ok. There are 4 news water slides which are quite fast and thrilling experience. Others slides are not that fast but quite good to enjoy. There are pools and slides for kids less than 1.20m height which is also quite nice. Parking is 11€ for day , can be bought from ticket counter. Lockers are included with ticket pass and also handy. Good shower facility available , but you must have own shampoo/soap :) Overall satisfied with managing staff and Experience.

The food options were perfect for a quick lunch—although a bit pricey (€15 for adults, €10 for kids). Buying tickets online, including parking, was super easy. Even though the park was quite busy, it’s spacious enough that it never felt overcrowded. A small tip for visitors: check the swimwear rules in advance—I bought fitted swim shorts for my husband beforehand, and everything went smoothly. Overall, a wonderful day out. We’ll definitely be coming back! 👍🏻

We chose to be here on Thursday to skip the queue. It is good to read the information from the website before you arrive. The swimsuit has its own criteria: it should be tight-fitting for the man. Otherwise, you have to buy one from them. Some items, such as Rapido, are easy to get stuck in if you have loose-fitting swimming trunks. Most items require a minimum height of 120 cm. It is really cool for both kids and adults to ride Rapido and Waikiki. My son is 8 years old. I recommend that an 8-year-old child rides Waikiki with an adult.

Some great slides and pools. The rapids were ferocious but fun, just make sure your kids can swim enough or use the life jackets! Kids were gone for an hour or two at a time and made it out alive!

Fun & Games
Walibi Belgium is a seasonal amusement park located near Wavre, a city known for its historic castle and natural reserves. The park offers a mix of kids-only attractions, roller coasters, carousels, and an observation wheel. Easily accessible by train or car, the park has been entertaining visitors since 1975 and continues to introduce new thrill rides every few years.
So, we hit up this awesome theme park on Monday, rolling in around 10 am. Parking was super easy to find and cost us 13 bucks per car—not bad at all! Even though we got there pretty early, the place was already buzzing, so my advice? Try to arrive even earlier if you can. It’s a themed park, and honestly, the vibe is totally unique. Make sure you grab a guide brochure as soon as you walk in—super handy for planning your day. The rides are just amazing; I can’t even pick a favorite, but we ended up riding KONDAA three times—couldn’t get enough! The restrooms are spotless and kept up really well. Plus, they’re everywhere and even match the theme of each area—super cool touch. When you need a break, the food court’s a great spot. Prices for food and drinks are pretty fair for a place like this, so no complaints there. Every corner of the park looks fantastic, and I took a ton of photos—couldn’t help myself! The staff were super helpful, and loads of them spoke English, French, or Dutch, so communication was a breeze. If you want to chill, there are plenty of tables and chairs for picnics, and you’re allowed to bring your own food and drinks, which is awesome. And when it’s time for a ride, there are lockers right there so you can stash your stuff and grab it after—super convenient. Honestly, for what you pay, you get so much out of it. I’d totally recommend bringing your friends or family here for a fun day out. Big thanks to all the Walibi Belgium team for making our visit so memorable!

The waiting times are not that bad when we went on a Saturday, one week after school starts. The map is easy to understand and navigate. The bathrooms are everywhere, be easily located and well maintained. So many food options. AND, they are not that strict with food and drinks! You can bring your own snacks and eat even while queueing. The only downside we felt was, the very short time of rides… we felt a little unsatisfied for each thrills.
The G — Google review
It's a fun theme park with lots of different rides and things to do for all ages. The themes are executed well and everything looks very clean. I do recommend you skip the werewolf and vampire rollercoasters as you're more likely to get out of those two with some injury than without. Some of the staff look and act like they don't give a ..., which is a bummer and takes away from the fact that overall, you can enjoy quite a nice day here.

So proud that this is mine home park. Can recomend i try to visit as often as possible. Sadly its only weekend based operations but still it is the best park in Belgium. Best is to start with Mecalodon and from there go to Kondaa and then rest of the park. Warning the park gets crowded on haloween but christmass is suoer empty

I must say that in last two weeks we were at 6 different parks in NL and BE. But this one is from today my favorite? On app that you download for free you can see waiting time on all attractions. Food is delicious and not expensive! Also waiting time is or at least was not more then 35min at that was only on one attraction. So easy can go on other one and wait just 5min. Personal is very nice. What i also must mention is the environment, the places are very nicely managed and create perfect atmosfere.
Marek P — Google review
Terrible experience. You already pay extra for the Halloween edition (€57), and once inside, the haunted houses cost even more (€8,50). There was one haunted house free, but when we wanted to queue for it, we were told it had closed at 20:30, even though it stayed open until 22h. When we asked why, we were told, “It’s closed, can’t you see that?” with no explanation given. The food was also extremely overpriced: €9 for a dry sandwich and €6 for six tiny churros. The waiting times were even worse. Some rides had queues of more than 1.5 hours, and two attractions were out of order. To make matters worse, there were very few “freaks” or actors in costume. Only four zones had scare actors walking around, while the rest of the park there weren't. They could have done this so much better. And don’t forget the €13 parking fee at the end of the day! It was a disastrous day, definitely not recommended, and it will be the last time we visit. Please reduce the park’s capacity, that would make the experience much more enjoyable for everyone.
Emma — Google review
Fantastic place! You can experience a lot of emotions and a huge adrenaline rush there. A place with attractions for both adults and children from 90 cm tall 😀. I recommend it.
Mo N — Google review
The park was amazing. All the attractions were really good and fun. My favourite one is the Konda. I suggest to go there early(11AM)so you should not wait a lot for the best rides and then spend the whole day there.

Strépy-Thieu Boat Lift

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Strépy-Thieu Boat Lift is a remarkable feat of human engineering, towering at 102 meters high and dominating the valley between Strepy-Bracquegnies and Thieu. Completed in 2002, it is the world's tallest ship lift, capable of raising or lowering massive boats by 73 vertical meters. Visitors can explore the lift's efficient engine room and appreciate its construction through a multilingual video.
This boat lift is an example of magnificent engineering. It overcomes a height difference of 73m and until 2016, when the boat lift in the three georges dam in China took over, the tallest boat lift in the world. It was completed in 2002 together with the canal and aquaduct nearby. The lift has two counterweighted caissons (tanks) of 118m long, 16,5m wide, and 8 meter high. There are eight large counterweights connected via 144 steel cables to each tank. Four huge electric motors drive the vertical movement of each tank. You can visit the eight floor where you have a museum, a video presentation and where you can see the big machinery hall. On that level is also a cafetaria. On your way out, you can stop on level five for a panoramic look outside. When I was there (May 2025) there were no large ships lifted or lowered due to a collapsed bridge which blocked the canal north of the lift. Only small pleasure boats used the lift.
Seimen B — Google review
Impressive piece of civil engineering with views over the canal below. Viewing platform and tour available. I think you may need to be lucky to see the lift in action as it depends on canal boats turning up. Nonetheless, the boat lift dominates its surroundings.
Martin B — Google review
The lift is a beautiful site with its majestic piece of engineering and its beautiful landscaped surroundings. The issue is that the road going around the lift is used by racing motorbikes and cars making horrible reving noises throughout the day. How can this be allowed?
B J — Google review
What an amazing show of engineering! The museum inside was suprisingly well thought out and very up to date. Even including how covid influenced the shipping industry & the accident in the Seuz canal. Staff was friendly & welcoming. We even got to see the structure in motion when a boat arrived during our visit. Definitely learned a lot here. There’s ramps up to the windows, large and lowered elevator buttons for easy accessibility.
Ravennest 1 — Google review
The place was closed while we were there, but we were just passing by. Will have to come back when it's open as it's an impressive structure and appears to have a lot more inside.
Adrian B — Google review
Very impressive, lovely area. Didn't do the boat trip but looked interesting.
Richard H — Google review
A gigantic elevator for boats? Amazing and curious place to visit if you like to go off the beaten track. There is a visitor centre that offers information and an interactive and child friendly expo. If you plan ahead you can also arrange a boat trip that takes you in the elevator.
Kbkat B — Google review
Came by back. Exhibits were so so but the live boat lift was good experience. The Strépy-Thieu Boat Lift is a modern engineering marvel and a fascinating site to explore. Completed in 2002, it is one of the tallest boat lifts in the world, with a vertical rise of 73 meters. It was built to replace the historic canal lifts and improve navigation along the Canal du Centre. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the observation deck and learn about the area's rich industrial heritage in the exhibition space.

Waterloo Battlefield in Belgium is a must-visit for military enthusiasts and tourists alike. The underground museum and visitor center offer immersive multimedia exhibits on the 1815 Battle of Waterloo, one of the bloodiest battles in history. While there are few remains of the battlefield today, it serves as a place for reflection and contemplation. The new museum presents updated historical findings, debunking myths and reevaluating the roles of different parties involved.
Immersive and unforgettable! A fantastic experience from start to finish. The 3D movie was a real highlight—so well done and emotional. The museum is super interactive, with creative displays, sound effects, and hands-on elements that make the history feel alive. The outdoor reenactment camp and Lion’s Mound added to the atmosphere, and everything is really well organized and accessible. Perfect for history lovers and curious visitors alike!
Rania Y — Google review
The museum is interactive and tells a very well thought out story. The details are everywhere from fun little Lego characters to computer screens that either tell cool stories or morph between images from what's on the screen to what's behind it. Very cool displays throughout the museum. I was also loving the presentation of the battlefield by the use of telescopes to find the moving soldiers on the battlefields throughout different dates. Everything was engaging and creative and had multiple languages. Definitely recommend a visit. We took our 12 year old and she was engaged in parts and not so much on others.
Ashlee M — Google review
Visiting the Battle of Waterloo remembrance site is a fascinating journey into one of the most pivotal moments in European history. The museum does an excellent job of bringing the past to life, showcasing the events that marked both the rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte. Through immersive exhibits and detailed displays, it offers a deep understanding of how this single battle reshaped the political landscape of Europe for decades to come. A highlight of the visit is climbing the 41-meter-high Lion’s Mound, the impressive monument built by King William I of the Netherlands to commemorate the battle. From the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view over the former battlefields—an awe-inspiring sight that helps you imagine the scale and intensity of the conflict that unfolded there in 1815. Overall, the Waterloo remembrance site and museum provide a meaningful and educational experience for anyone interested in European history, military strategy, or the legacy of Napoleon’s empire. It’s a place where history truly comes alive.
Hans M — Google review
The Waterloo Battlefield experience is truly fantastic and incredibly well-organized. You begin your journey in a superb museum that expertly guides you through the intricate history of the Battle of Waterloo and Napoleon's significant role. The exhibits are exceptionally well-made, enhanced by an engaging audio guide accessible via your phone, providing rich details that truly bring the era to life. I was particularly impressed by the captivating paintings and their accompanying in-depth explanations. From the museum, you can ascend to the iconic Lion's Mound (the "pyramid"). The panoramic view from the top is absolutely breathtaking, offering a clear perspective of the battlefield. There's also a detailed plan indicating the real positions of the warring factions, which is incredibly helpful for visualizing the conflict. A real highlight for me was the immersive acting experience, where you handle a wooden musket and learn to march like the troops before battle. Furthermore, the shooting simulation is beautifully crafted, brilliantly capturing the essence and intensity of what it must have been like to be amidst a real fight. This entire site is stunning and comes highly recommended for a visit with both kids and friends.
Antoine M — Google review
Had a great experience at the Waterloo battlefield, Lion’s Mound and the museum. Surreal to walk around the grounds and learn even more about the place and battle that ultimately ended Napoleon’s reign. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, the experience is value for money and it’s worth a trip!
Mathew L — Google review
Napoleon’s final defeat happened here, and the museum very closely captures what took place. Basic tour was great, with visit to the top. A lot of stairs, so if you are used to less walking those please consider. Additional extra there is also a Lego-exhibition for children or lego-enthusiasts. Reserve around 1,5h to check all.
Eerik H — Google review
If you love history this is a must see. Located a few miles outside the town if Waterloo, the battered is well preserved (except for the fact that they dug up a portion of it to build the Lion Mound). There's a nice modern museum and on-site restaurant (with bathrooms). A huge and detailed 3D model of the battlefield is in the museum and it is worth studying. Also, it's a good idea to read up on the battle and how it progressed before coming because they don't do a very through review of that. The battle was fought over a large area, so climbing the Lion mound is a good idea if you want to see the area in its entirety. The climb, however, is 225 steps at a fairly steep angle so if you're not in good shape or are afraid of heights be sure you're up to it.
Gerald Y — Google review
Very informative. Loved the Lego exhibition of Napoleon's life. The Lions butte is a bit of a climb; 226 steps but the views at the top of the battlefield site are well worth it.

Groot Begijnhof Leuven is a serene and well-preserved quarter with a rich historical background. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts charming cobblestone streets, peaceful gardens, and well-maintained buildings that once housed a religious women's village. The vibrant Ladeuzeplein nearby is a hub of student life and cultural activity, featuring the striking Totem sculpture and the university library. The stunning St.
It’s such a historical location which really worth going. Full of red-bricked buildings. It seemed entering to another world. Just walk through those little streets and almost forgot the time. We just walk here amd there and took many nice pictures. This is a really amazing area. I really enjoyed the time spending there.

We’ve been living in this residence for a few years now. I must say, if you’re visiting Leuven, you absolutely shouldn’t miss Groot Begijnhof. Its historical architecture is truly mesmerizing. Every street reveals different houses and glimpses of past lives. Recently, some infrastructure work has been taking place in part of the area, so if you’re planning to visit during the summer of 2025, be aware that some entrances are closed and walking around the church might be a bit difficult.

Incredible walking experience there. There was some renovation done in some part of area but in general it’s a very enjoyable experience with exploring the small aisle and looking at the old buildings. I was there during weekday so it was pretty quiet.

Beautiful and peaceful place in the heart of Leuven. The Groot Begijnhof feels like stepping back in time with its quiet cobblestone streets, historic houses, and calm atmosphere. Perfect for a walk, some photos, or just to disconnect from the city noise. A must-see in Leuven.

I strolled through the Groot Begijnhof in Leuven and instantly felt its centuries-old charm. As I entered through the main gate, those traditional sandstone buildings and winding cobblestone lanes made me feel like I had stepped back in time. Each house, some with striking crow-stepped gables and tiny old windows, reveals layers of history and story. The peaceful courtyards and scenic river views added to the atmosphere. This restored “town-within-a-town” is a unique place and quiet yet full of character, offering an authentic glimpse into Leuven’s past and the life once led by its beguines.

The Groot Begijnhof in Leuven is a beautifully preserved 13th-century beguinage and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once home to religious women called beguines, it features cobbled streets, red-brick houses, gardens, and stone bridges over the River Dijle. The Historic Leuven Town Hall, located on the Grote Markt, is a stunning example of 15th-century Gothic architecture. Adorned with spires and 236 sculptures representing local scholars, artists, and nobles from the city's history, it stands as an iconic sight in Leuven. Despite surviving wars and even a WWII bomb that failed to explode, the town hall remains an impressive symbol of resilience.
The Royal Palace of Brussels (Palais Royal de Bruxelles) stands as a prominent landmark in the city and serves as the official palace of the Belgian monarchy. Situated in the heart of Brussels, it faces the Brussels Park (Parc de Bruxelles). While it is not the royal family's residence—they live in the Castle of Laeken—the palace hosts official state functions and events.

This building is certainly one that has impressed me the most while visiting Leuven. It is centre of Leuven. Leuven's Town Hall is the historic city's pièce de résistance. Moreover, it's one of the best-known Gothic town halls worldwide. It took three architects and thirty years to build it. Leuven's 'Hall of Fame' features 235 statues, which were only added to the facade after 1850.
Shubham M — Google review
A beautiful building in the center of Leuven with 235 statues to admire. It’s a must see if you are visiting Leuven. There are daily one hour tours in Dutch and English and on the weekend in French. In these tours you visit the interior of the building while learning about the history. The cost is 4 euros and you can buy tickets in the tourist office around the corner. Starting in September 2024, this building will be closed for renovation until 2029. So if you want to take a tour, I would recommend doing it now!

Spectacular building with a Flemish Gothic façade, although the remains of Leuven's first town hall, built in 1439 and located on the main square, are no longer preserved. It has been destroyed and rebuilt three times in the last hundred years, the last time after the Second World War. On the outside we can see 236 statues, all of them of important figures in the history of the city, arranged by floors: on the ground floor we find academics and artists, on the ground floor religious figures, on the first floor members of the nobility and finally, at the top of the towers, scenes from the Bible are represented.

Famous for the blue hyacinth, but before they show up the forrest floor is covered with anemones, and at the right time, you will see both. The forrest itself is remarkable, also outside the hyacinth festival, hilly with great tracks and trails….

A wonderful park, 30 minutes from Brussels. Many hiking and biking trails. Purple Zvoncic magically colours the entire forest, which is an incredible sight. This is not a phenomenon. There are forests like this all over the world, but the Belgians have protected this environment well and made it an attraction. In any case, a good walk and a wonderful view.
Radovan Z — Google review
Very nice forest to take a walk - even without the beautiful flowers! The park is quite big and the trails are marked very well. Can be quite cold, as the sunshine is blocked by the trees - but that can be a plus in the hot summer months. The are several parking spots, which can be seen on the map of the park in one of the attached photos.

Get prepared to walk amidst tall green trees. Walking, cycling, horse ride paths are well maintained. Kids friendly, solo, groups, family- a place for everyone to relax. Enough parking areas around the little forest. During this hyacinth festival, there are free buses running from Halle station during weekends. Tables to sit here and there. A good picnic spot, no entrance ticket. Blue bells all around is a wonderful sight to walk. Visitors leave the place as it is and pick your trash.

Gaasbeek Castle is definitely worth a visit. They recently finished a renovation that took almost three years, and it really shows. The castle looks great, both inside and out. They've done a good job of keeping a lot of the original items, so it feels very authentic and you get a real sense of the history. It's quite informative as you walk through. The castle garden is also a highlight. It's really beautiful and well-maintained, with different sections to explore. It's a nice place for a relaxed stroll. The wider castle grounds are good for hiking too. You can easily spend some time walking around and enjoying the scenery. Just a heads-up, while the castle and grounds are excellent for adults and older visitors, the interior with its historical artifacts might not be the most engaging for very young children. Teenagers and up would probably get more out of it. Overall, it's a very good experience if you're looking for a historical day out with impressive grounds. There are 2 free of charge parkings, You can buy a combo tickets for the castle and the castle garden. I personally find the garden - a garden, with flowers, fruit trees, nothing extra ordinary.

The Gaasbeek Castle is a must, you approach it down a long avenue of trees the exterior is well maintained as is the interior. You can visit many rooms and even get lost there is so much to see. The detailed vaulted ceilings and the tapestries are superb. From the kitchen area with projections to the coin collection there are endless choices.

Lovely castle in picturesque surrounds. They have done a wonderful renovation bringing it all back to life. The museum gardens were very special. Staff very helpful. Maybe a few more snack choices in castle cafe.

We visited this handsome castle on a very cloudy and rainy day and it did not take away an inch from its charm and warmth. It was surprisingly calm and there were only a handful of people present. I've seen many many castles but not like this one. On entrance, it pleasantly welcomes you and leaves you in awe. The castle itself was very clean and extremely well maintained. The staff were very friendly as well. The walk to and around the castle is an experience of itself and I recommend taking a tour around the pond. It was my first time, but I'm glad to say we will meet again very soon.

This is a beautiful castle set on impeccably maintained grounds. You should definitely take a few hours to go and do the castle tour and to see the ornamental gardens.

Very nice place to go for a walk, to relax and make a picnic. If you don't want to visit inside the castle or the garden, you don't need to pay every the parking is free.

Great open space, well maintained gardens and lake. Restaurant and ice cream pancake bar nearby. Free parking

We combined the Castle with the adjacent Museum-Garden. We visited both much too quickly: they each deserve 90 minutes! The Castle is...romantically weird or weirdly romantic. The Garden is just fabulous.

Amusement park
Nature & Parks
Bobbejaanland is a beloved amusement park in Belgium, popular among Flemish and Dutch families. It offers nearly 50 attractions including roller coasters, boat rides, water slides, live shows, and themed shops all within a compact area. While some visitors find it slightly expensive due to additional costs like parking and fast lane access, others appreciate the reasonable prices for food and the manageable wait times for rides.
I was pleasantly surprised by this park, it's way better than i was expecting, better than de Efteling. Highly recommend going, and the main coaster Fury is insanely good, wow! The park has something for everyone. I'll be back! Shame about the weather when we went but that actually helped as there were no queues at all!

Bobbejaanland has clearly lost a bit of its shine since the days of Bobbejaan Schoepen and his Wild West Show. You can clearly see that certain themes have been better worked out than others. The wild west town has a lot of charm, but the rest of the park feels a bit cobled together. Some of the attractions have seen better days, such as kids' land. And some attractions aren't even open when visiting. But they have invested in a lot of rollercoasters lately. The speedy bob is a classic mine train, which is a lot of fun, and the typhoon is an exciting vertical drop coaster. Fury and Naga Bay are also amazing. My tip would be to go on a slow day. There are practically no lines, and you can really enjoy all those rollercoasters.

Very nice amusement park. Not so big not so little. Perfect size for a day out. Great park for kids around 5 and 6 (above 110cm) as there are lots of options for them. Also great options for adults. We went around Halloween time and the park was nicely decorated and with parades and actors around. You can bring your own food. The facilities were all in perfect condition and the staff was super friendly and happy to recommend.

I had a good experience, here some points: - I went around Halloween -- I've paid twice as much because of it, we arrived and found out the day tickets were already priced off back to their original price, then why did I bother reserving my tickets ahead of time?! -- We didn't see anything spooky until the afternoon (I can understand, kids and stuff), we saw some horror actors going to their horror mansions and we saw a parade. That's it. Previous you could find some horror actors scaring people in the park, but we didn't see any this time. Why did I pay extra for Halloween themed if there's almost no extra free Halloween entertainment? -- The park was open until 21h which was needed because waiting times were between 30 and 90 minutes. -- Panic buttons for people who are easily scared is a good thing! - Nice attractions, thrill seekers will love the Naga Bay, Typhoon and ofcourse the Fury. These are popular and have the longest waiting times. - Spirello (potato on a stick) costs 6 euro, a basic burger 6.5. Some snacks are way too expensive... - App (android) is wonky: -- There's an app and that is awesome -- Ticket holder + overal map and attractions overview was nice -- Trying to click the right attraction was difficult. -- Waiting times in the app did not correspond to the waiting times you get to see at the attraction itself. -- Website loaded faster than the app, so if I needed info, I just went to the website instead.

It truly offers the fun of an amusement park. You can have a great time with your family.

Comparable with the Dutch Efteling. A western themed amusement park with rollercoasters and other fun rides. Enjoyed the day.
A L — Google review
We went on a day with terrible weather so can't blame them for that. But I would have appreciated more maps to help us get around the park. And unless you want to wait in long lines, you have to pay a lot for speedy passes (which also had a queue)....

A great resort to take the kids, a large lake with a sandy beach, shallow enough for youngsters. It has water sports and an aqua park. The caravan touring areas are located under pine trees to give shade and electric hookup is close to the pitch. The toilets/showers block are very good but showers are not free, they use a pre-paid €25 card with code system. Too up the card when required. Entertainment by the beach when we were there. We only stayed one night whilst in transit back home but would consider a longer transit stop in future.

I went here with a group of friends off season and it's was so much fun. It was quite and peaceful. The weather wasn't great at that moment but we still managed to have lot's of fun at the water park. The staff was also helpfull. some of us fell in the water with out cloths on when goofing around at the water park, but it was easy to wash and dry thanks to the service provided. Overall a great experience and totally recommend!

No stars for rooms as we went camping with the tent. The campsite are kept clean. Friendly service. Lot's of activities possible. Any issues (tripped fuse) were resolved instantly even before my partner was back from mentioning it.

Great place to take kids, a lot of playgrounds, and separate part of the lake with shallow water is very convenient if you have toddlers.
Marija M — Google review
A brilliant place to relax among nature. The smell of trees and forest litter is associated with holidays. The water in the large pond is very clean, in the children's pond a bit less (for obvious reasons 😁) There you can also find a water slide, jumping platform, great beach and the proximity of trees when you forget your parasol.🏖

I've just spent three fabulous days with two of my best friends at Sunrise Festival. Every day we had more than 20.000 steps walking from the camping, to the food- and drink booths and the many stages. The festival let us enjoy a wonderful musical experience! The accessibility to the festival, to the camping as well as on the spot was challenging. Everybody arrives at te festival at the same time. There was only one very long path to drive to the drop-off point with no possibility to turn or get away. Only two hours later we arrived! The distance from the drop-off point to the camping was also very far. From the camping itself, it was a 20 minute walk to the entrance of the festival. Due to the large distance between the several stages we also missed some performances. So make sure you wear very comfy footwear as you'll do lots of walking! During these sunny and long days you’ll get very thirsty and hungry. There was a large variety of food and it was delicious! On the other side the servings were quite small and expensive. For example, a small slice of pizza costs €8. Because of the heat, they had promised free drinkable water. We had no clue where to find it and the bottles you could buy were VERY small. The queues weren’t very long, so that was positive. There was also a cashless system and this worked just fine, unlike at other festivals. Before we left, I took a good look at the line-up. There was a lot of choice and there were many artists I wanted to see perform. Everything was well organized and we had no trouble finding the different stages. The music and atmosphere were amazing. The sound systems were very good with a crystal clear sound. I even discovered some new artists. Although we have walked many kilometers, we had a blast of a time. The food and drinks were acceptable, but the organization should make sure there is enough drinkable water for everybody. We enjoyed the vibe and there was a strong line-up. I will certainly return next year!

Located in the forest nearby to lakes. Had to drive down some mud roads (no tarmac) to get to the campsite location - luckily it was not raining! Whilst the location is idyllic amongst the trees etc, and the pitches were very large and wide the proximity to the motorway and airport meant there was far too much noise to sleep in our campervan. Also very loud quad bikes/motorbikes driving in the vicinity.

Shopping
Wijnegem is a modern and spacious shopping center in Antwerp, offering a wide selection of international chain stores, boutiques, and casual restaurants. It's a great place for people of all ages, with options that cater to everyone's tastes. The food court provides a variety of dining choices, and there are ample parking spaces available. Visitors can enjoy shopping without worrying about the weather outside. Additionally, the center features playing areas for kids and is praised for its convenient facilities by many visitors.
If you're anywhere near Antwerp or crossing through Belgium, Wijnegem – Shop Eat Enjoy is an absolute must-visit. This isn’t just a mall — it’s easily one of the largest and most vibrant shopping outlets in Belgium, and it truly lives up to its name. Our family stopped by on a spontaneous detour, and to our surprise, the kids absolutely loved it. From the lively atmosphere to the sheer variety of stores, there’s something here for everyone — whether you’re after fashion, gifts, or just a good time. You’ll find big international brands like Zara alongside a whole range of European favourites, and of course, a delightful Belgian chocolate shop that was impossible to walk past without buying something sweet. Spacious, clean, and well-organised, it’s also very family-friendly with food courts, plenty of seating, and enough to keep kids engaged while parents explore. It’s the kind of place where a “quick stop” can easily turn into a half-day treat. Massive variety, family-friendly, and full of surprises — this is retail therapy done right. Will definitely return.

A huge mall with many branded outlet and food restaurant and stores. You can find almost all branded outlets here. There is also small play area for kids. The mall is spread over across a ample area where you need to walk a lot to visit all the shops.

Lots of parking space, except in the weekend, it's a struggle!!! But the mall is practically family and kid friendly. I think u can also bring small pets as long as theyre in a bag or stroller. There's lots of shops there, almost everything u need.

Great big mall with food court, retail shopping stores and even a grocery store (Albert-Heijn). Very clean and lavish. Can get noisy.

A good shopping centre in Wijnegem. Prefer coming here instead of going to Meir. This is a much better place to shop. Don’t waste and you time in Meir if you want to shop and rather come here… unless you are looking for absolutely boutique local stores. Java Coffee is amazing here.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this shopping centre in antwerp when i visited on a Wednesday afternoon ! The place is huge ! They have a lot of great brand selection that suit every type of person, that’s why you easily find elderly people, young people, families, a bit of everything really. They have a fair food court. The place is big so even when it’s really crowded, it’s ok.. They have one of two lego stores in belgium, so great 👍🏻 Plenty of parking space but i don’t know if it is paid. Easily accessible by tram which is how i got to this place.

A very good indoor shopping mall where you will be safe from the rain, snow, heath or whatever happening outside which might cause you trouble. There is every needed shop, café and restaurants as well as playing space for your kids if you have any! There are many parking lots, so you won't face parking problems. I wish to see more indoor shopping centres in Europe. Thanks Wijnegem Team

Waasland Shopping Center

Shopping mall
Shopping
Waasland Shopping Center is a bustling commercial mall that offers a diverse range of stores, services, cafes, and restaurants. Located in one of the cities in Belgium, it provides an array of shopping options including high-end fashion brands and well-known chains such as H&M, Omoda, and Vero Moda. The center also features various dining options where visitors can enjoy Italian salads, pastas, pizzas, burgers, as well as a selection of beers from the special beer list.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Shopping Experience! Waasland Shopping is a fantastic mall with a great mix of stores, dining options, and entertainment. The layout is spacious and clean, making it a pleasant place to shop. I especially love the variety of brands—from fashion to electronics—so there’s something for everyone. The food court offers tasty choices, and the free parking is a huge plus! The staff in most stores are friendly and helpful, which makes the shopping experience even better. The only minor downside is that it can get quite busy on weekends, but that’s expected for such a popular spot. Overall, Waasland Shopping is one of the best malls in the area—definitely worth a visit! 👍 Pros: ✔ Wide variety of stores ✔ Clean and modern atmosphere ✔ Good food options ✔ Free and ample parking 👎 Cons: ❗ Can be crowded during peak hours Final Verdict: Highly recommended for shopping, dining, or just a casual stroll!

Clean and big shopping mall, not too crowded and a good parking lot. Not many restaurant options...

Don’t come to this mall, as the security guard came for a dispute, they took the phone and refused to give back till police came. The phone was not filming other people but they took it in their own rules, which is not ok according to the law. If you come to the mall, this may happen to you as well and they will say they tried to help you by taking your phone.

Really aesthetically pleasing mall with dim lighting and the perfect amount and selection of stores. Good for any time of the day with anyone you decide the have for company. Recommend coming here for a chill stroll and even a meal 🛍️🍜

They have many benches, many places to sit, a BEAUTIFUL garden and the cleanest toilets! Toilets were €1, which isn't much in my opinion, and paying for the toilet is totally worth it! really clean, very modern and a nice experience overall! Very clean, has fun activities sometimes! What i mean by that is, outside the shops, there's meet&greets sometimes, some crafting things have happened before, which were really fun! Has a large bus stop outside with two rows and lots of parking space. Parking space will be full on some days, however that's not the shopping center's fault. There's some security people, which looked scary at first but they really help keep the place safe!
