Attraction
Cala Sapone is a charming sea inlet with a small beach, surrounded by rocky outcrops and backed by open-air seafood restaurants. The area offers a picturesque bay that can be reached by a scenic hike, making it popular among nature lovers and hikers. The unique landscape features special pink-tinged sand from tiny shells and coral fragments washed up on the beach. Visitors can also enjoy wide, flat rocks perfect for sitting on.
Nice beach, not crowed in the off season. Easy accessible, a bit sheltered from wind and waves, there is a small bar which serves food and drinks, there is a toilet in the bar as well. The sunset is spectacular. Parking is close but not plenty. Water is wonderful. We loved it.

One of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Sant'Antioco. Probably my favorite on the island. I particularly love the rocks on the sides of the beach, the view of the bay and the clarity of the water.
Carlo S — Google review
Beautiful beach and great for relaxing in the water or on the sand. Very nice restaurant nearby for and ice cream or food and sunbeds available.
Pascale S — Google review
Beach is ok, quite small, sand with tiny stones, but the water absolutely perfect! Feels like paradise! A must: take a walk along the rocks! The furthest you can, its even another Cala called U will be astonished! Jump into the water, feels great.
Maurizio C — Google review
Lovely beach with great swimming when the wind is right, and a super, relaxed restaurant just over the road.
Eddie C — Google review
One of the best beaches in Sardegna for me. The sandy part was quite full and totally average but thf part with the smooth big stones.. just amazing

A friend of mine confided in me today that most local people do not eat or drink at Mario and Pinella in Cala Sapone because of perceived hygiene problems. As a professional chef and previous catering manager of a large London hotel restaurant, I was interested to see whether this was true or not. so I went to pay a visit to the restaurants kitchen today while I was visiting Cala Sapone. from the very beginning I looked at the refrigerators and freezers and also the cooker and the deep fat fryer I looked around the kitchen and I can tell you that this is one of the cleanest kitchens and best organised kitchens that I have seen in the many years that I was a chef and catering manager.so for those people who say that they are worried about the hygiene of restaurant and kitchen of Mario and Pinella they are mistaken. They should consider eating in this place because it is in a beautiful location and the food is very very good. The hygiene is not a problem here as well, the prices are reasonable and the staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. Finally, this location is excellent. Right across from a lovely sandy beach which has offshore shallow water an inshore reefs great for swimming and snorkelling. Here you can rent deck chairs or loungers as well as a kayak of pedalo. to explore the bay. I highly recommend Cala Sapone as a destination for all ages and all people. You will not be disappointed. There is plenty of parking in the car park and the small cafe/restaurant of Mario and Pinella has a toilet for you to use as well as offers of course, food and beverages, ice creams and great coffee too.

Spiaggia di Cala Domestica

Outdoor Activities
Cala Domestica is a stunning sandy beach nestled in a natural bay surrounded by rugged cliffs and dunes. It's known for its vibrant beach bar and excellent snorkeling opportunities. Situated between Masua and Cala Domestica, the area offers a chance to explore the coastal region with its white beaches, clear waters, and historic mining sites. The town of Iglesias, rich in mining and medieval tradition, is just 20 km away.
Simply beautiful. Small beach. Toilet and shower are not free. Bar by the beach selling sandwiches, salad, and drinks. Parking is €5 for all day. You can climb up to have amazing view of the cove. Will take your breath away.
Ariestia S — Google review
The place is almost Perfect, despite the sea was a little rough the day we went and there were jellyfish. Have enough parking and they charge you 5 euros for the day. Plenty of space in the sand and Great scenography for photos.
Leonardo P — Google review
A remote and beautiful beach. The tower on the hill and the view from the route up there worth a little hike. You will need shoes for it though. Sadly, it's very littered around the ruins and caves, including toilet paper and human excrement among other things. If you visit, bring your own parasol, because they ask 30 euros for the two sunbeds and parasol for a day. The parking was 5€. I recommend Spiaggia di San Nicolo instead. The parking there was 2€ and the sunbeds with parasols were free. The infrastructure there is better too.
Miklós S — Google review
Very nice beach that has a suprise little beach next to it as well. The second one was more calm and with sandy entrance. Both has big rocks following the entrance. We came on a saturday in August around 3pm. I highly recommend checking the wind situation because it was super windy and had a red flag so it was not very possible to swim. Possible to get in to the water in close distance though. Parking was 3 euros, they ask for cash. Had a nice view on the parking around 6pm with goats on rocks!
Bilge K — Google review
The beach is nice but for me, it’s a tourist trap; there are far more beautiful beaches and authentic! In this one you have to pay 10€ for parking (depending on the hour), 1€ for using the bathroom, 1€ for the showers…The entrance beach bar is okay but expensive for the quality, plus they charge 15% extra.
Paola E — Google review
Cala Domestica is great but the one next to it, Cala Longa is much better.
Manuel G — Google review
One of my newly discovered places, but definitely up there in the top 10. The water is amazing, colors weren't as great the day I've been, due to some rain the previous day, but they were still gorgeous, which goes to say how amazing they must be on a normal day of pure sun. If you go up the mountain on the left you can even get a pretty decent sunset in the evening. Really pretty place, if you've got the time and chance to travel all the way there, worth every second spent there, you get some amazing views there
Emilian C — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches on Sardegna. It's easy to manage, there is a car park near the entry to the beach. Car park is free (October 2020) there is bar but when we were sightseeing it was closed. As far as I know, there are two options to reach the beach: by car and by feet through the mountain track. Amazing place, totally 'must see'!

(Translated by Google) A must-see. Even on the approach, the Sugarloaf Mountain comes into view repeatedly. The best place to take a picture is from Porto Flávio. The parking lot at the end of the road is a bit wild and narrow. Tip for a good free photo spot: drive up the gravel road toward Porto Flávio. Around the bend on the left is a large pull-over area (no parking), but that didn't bother anyone. Up there, you have a fantastic view of the rock. (Original) Sehr sehenswert.

Porto Flavia

Mines
Porto Flavia, a port built in 1925 into a cliff above the sea near Nebida in southwest Sardinia, is an impressive feat of mining engineering. It served as a loading dock for zinc and featured two tunnels connecting it to the nearby mine for efficient mineral transportation. Today, visitors can tour the site by appointment with a guide due to safety reasons. The port's dramatic location and stunning views make it a must-see attraction on the Iglesiente coast.
Interesting place with interesting history why it was build the way it was. Great tour guide with fluent english explaining everything about the history of the place.
Henk S — Google review
The tour is actually about 40 minutes, 20 of which are waiting for another group to pass. Not much to see, but i love the idea of being inside one of the most interesting engineering sites. Also the lower level is inaccessible unfortunately.
Galina L — Google review
Unusual: not a mine per se but the tunnel used to transport lead, zinc and silver from the mines to the ship (lady guide with the Bansky tattoo could be less sarcastic with her replies, otherwise it was a positive experience )
Toine M — Google review
Porto Flavia is a unique and impressive site where history meets nature. The old mining port carved into the cliff offers stunning sea views and a fascinating story of engineering. A must-see for anyone visiting the area.
Nidhal Z — Google review
Interesting spot and part of Sardegna history. Also really beautiful views. The guide was very nice. I just would love to learn a bit more as information provided was very simple and I learnt more from AI after the trip
Magdalena W — Google review
What an amazing place the history and the work that went into carving a bulk shipping and handling facility into the centre of mountain of rock. Well worth the effort to get here and check it out❤️
Paul W — Google review
A bit expensive for what you are getting to visit. The site itself is unique but the tour was underwhelming. The guide seemed like they were reading off a script instead of being actually knowledgeable. It's worth the experience if you enjoy doing your own research.
Felix C — Google review
You can park near to Porto Flavia. But notice it’s a dirt road. The guided tour was very interesting. You walk through the tunnel and see how it was build. At the end you are standing in front of the sea and enjoy a beautiful view.

Hotel Le Dune Piscinas

Hotel Le Dune Piscinas is a luxurious and serene seasonal property located in Arbus, offering a tranquil oasis for travelers seeking relaxation. Situated by the sea and just minutes away from Piscinas Beach, this eco-friendly hotel provides elegant accommodations blending modern amenities with traditional charm. Guests can enjoy recreational activities such as yoga, access to a private beach, outdoor pool, and sauna. The hotel also features bar and restaurant options along with spa facilities.
Stunning location, suburb modern and fresh hotel, amazing staff. Stefano and his team was able to put the most memorable experience for my now Fiancée and I. They helped with the proposal, custom drinks, and setting up beautiful wreath of flowers for us, just to name a few things. The staff surely make you feel special, that's why I would highly recommend this hotel for any specials occasions. Or just to chill out!
Sebastian K — Google review
Incredible location and design but unfortunately understaffed and lacking the flow a 5* hotel should deliver. With the remoteness of this location also comes the fact that you’re beholden to eating here for every meal, which gets pricey. Beach bar was closed for the entire week, and it was hard to find anyone for service even in the bar. The few members of staff who were there were going above and beyond to make up for lack of numbers, but their struggle was visible (and at times resulted in frustration towards guests.) Feels like it either needs to come down in price (and stars) or level up in service.
Gemma L — Google review
5 stars for location but 5 star service is something else. This hotel is wonderfully renovated and appointed and its location is stunning. Unfortunately the inefficiency and unfriendliness of some of the staff and too many amenities not working is not what to be expected from a 5 star hotel. No attention to detail and too many frustrating discussions. For example we would have expected at least a plate of fruit or a welcome drink upon arrival, the AC in our room was not working properly and after several trips to the front desk to have it checked it wasn’t until the ceiling caved in that they addressed the situation by assigning us another room. Restaurant staff was very confusing, roles did not seem to be clear, being asked the same question multiple times or not at all (wine was never offered at dinner, we had to ask… even for a missing fork…). The food was good but pricey given the remote location. No food or drink service at the beach area. The massage jets at the pool did not work and only one of the pool treadmills was usable because they “lost” the other remote. Housekeeping was also inconsistent, we had to ask for toilet paper and did not get the turn-down service either of the 3 nights we stayed there. Check-out is at 11 but only one front desk staff available who seemed overwhelmed so it took a long time. We did manage to have a very relaxing stay thanks to the location but everything else was frustrating for the price point.
4 R — Google review
Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Le Dune Piscinas (Sardinia) was far from what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel. Check-in was handled by a new, well-meaning staff member, but we received no introduction or basic information about the hotel—we had to ask everything ourselves later. We had big expectations to have a perfect closure of our 11 days trip over the beautiful island of Sardinia. When we asked if someone could help us get fuel in a canister, since our car was nearly empty and we weren’t sure we’d make it to the next gas station (especially given how remote and difficult the access road is), we were simply told “the gas station isn’t far.” No assistance offered—again, not what you’d expect from a luxury hotel in such an isolated location. Our room had no TV remote. After asking reception for help, no one showed up. Only after a follow-up call did someone come, said she’d check and get back to us—but we never heard from her again. When we followed up again in person, we were just told, “no TV.” No explanation, no apology. We’ve rarely experienced such dismissive behavior in a 5-star setting. We also asked about late check-out or luggage storage, as we had spa treatments booked. The response: there’s an event, talk to someone in the morning. No effort to assist or accommodate. We ended up canceling the spa—lost revenue for them, and a poor guest experience for us. The room itself felt neglected: we had to kill around 30 mosquitos, the bathroom fan didn’t work, nor did the ceiling speaker. It seemed like a room that shouldn’t have been in service at all. Even worse, housekeeping entered our room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door—an absolute no-go for any hotel, let alone a supposed 5-star one. The only positive note was the spa staff. They were professional, attentive, and even helped us with some issues the reception couldn’t or wouldn’t handle. A clear contrast to the front desk. While the location is undeniably beautiful and unique—as many reviews note—the hotel’s service, maintenance, and attitude fall far short of luxury standards. The “gourmet” restaurant is, at best, average. Sadly, not recommend for the price asked.
Michael — Google review
Fantastic location in nature, very friendly people especially Ines from the restaurant gives a warm welcome. The only thing is the high prices of food and drinks, it’s not possible to go out for diner too other restaurants.
Michelle R — Google review
The rooms are very nice and also the location in this marvellous and unique scenery is well situated. It's really a wonderful experience to enjoy dinner during sunset. However, the service cannot keep up with the beauty of the beach, the dunes and the sea: the lady at the reception had a quite strict way of welcoming us. And made us pay the stay twice: in her accounting system the advance paymemt was not recorded, so WE had to pay another time. In the morning, they realized their mistake and promised a prompt repayment - this was more than two weeks ago and I am still waiting for my Money, despite having sent already two reminder- the last one with absolutely no reaction at all. And also Düring the dinner, we were served wrong desserts, and after having brought this to the attention of the main waiter, the only reaction was a shrug of the shoulders. In the morning, the chef de service appologized for his team. So, all in all, it was a memorable stay, however, for a 5★L hotel which hast also this price level, there were too many mistakes - and this leaves a bad aftertaste.
Eric P — Google review
An extraordinarily interesting hotel built in an old mining area that both benefits from and is hindered by its isolation. Somewhat difficult and challenging to reach with winding dirt roads, Le Dune Piscinas has gone back in time and found a part of Sardinia that does not exist in Villasimius or the Costa Smerelda. The beaches and water are extraordinary and belong to you. There are long stretches of time you may not see anything but sand and the bluest sea. Sparsely populated, this is definitely not a place you come to party or disco. This is a spot to disappear from the world. A location where you can forget about the many problems of the planet. There are no stores, no shopping, no cafes, no real entertainment. Only the hypnotic sound of the sea and a beautiful pool which carries your mind away to simpler times without stress. The downside to all this isolation is that you are really isolated. There is nowhere to eat but the hotel’s restaurant. There is nowhere to get a drink but the hotel’s bar. There is nothing accessible off site. So, if you do not like the food or you find the service slow, there are no other options. You are really isolated to a point where you have no choice. In fact, on the adjacent beach which was quite large and beautiful, we literally found no one over the whole day except for the skeleton of a poor goat that must have fallen into the sea somewhere. The rooms are lovely, large modern (in a good way) and well appointed. Ours had a large patio overlooking the pool and ocean. The bathrooms are lovely and the shower excellent. Despite all modern conveniences, the designer kept many of the appointments of the old stone buildings which added to the overall atmosphere. Despite the isolation and one kitchen, the food is good. It is not as great as it could or should be, but it is good. The service is somewhat slow and can be frustrating at time. This, I suspect, is another result of isolation. It is likely difficult to attract the very best in the service industry here. The staff must feel the impact of being so isolated; that said they do try their very best and there are several who are extremely nice and make an extra effort. Another impact of isolation is that when products are out of stock, it takes time to restock them. An example is several Vermentinos from good producers which were on the wine list were not available. When I asked the bar manager, he indicated that expected shipments never arrived. Again, isolation has its downside. Similar experiences involved food products which limited meal choices to some extent. Breakfast (included) was very good with an abundance of local foods like 6 different local sheep cheeses and goat yogurt. A great way to start the day and it added to our sense of adventure. Unfortunately, check-out was maddeningly slow and unacceptable for a 5-stat hotel as the lone woman in charge seemed confused by the computer and attempted everything by hand. She was clearly frustrated and eventually (20 min) was coached by a younger manager to complete the check out procedure. Despite some negatives, Le Dune Piscinas is an extraordinary experience and a nice way to check into a different, slower pace than our crazy world. It is highly recommended although traveling here with young children may not be the best idea. They will likely be bored. Isolation has its benefits but children may not agree. 4.5 stars.
David R — Google review
The food is fabulous. We were half-board which was great value. I can't praise the quality of the food, the menu options, the wine list & service highly enough. It's just as well because the location is isolated & I don't think there's a restaurant for miles. It's the best food we've had in Sardinia. Enough of that. The hotel is great. It's boutique not resort 5 star. Our room wasn't huge but it was beautiful. The beach & settling is probably unique for Sardinia. The hotel sits on a massive beach/expanse of sand. It's a former mining export facility & there's no way you'd get permission to build it today. Value for money? High. Yes, as others have posted the bar is a couple of Euros higher but...err..you're in a low volume, high quality, unique setting. Worth every penny.

The Serbariu coal mine museum is a captivating attraction in Sardinia, offering a tour through underground tunnels that partly recreate an old coal mine and partly preserve authentic features used for storing and transporting coal to prevent war bombings. Operational from the 1930s to the 1960s, this majestic site offers tours in Italian, French, and English. Visitors can explore the winch room, underground galleries with old machinery, and learn about the history of the miners who worked there.
Informative tour of an important historic mine essential to the war effort during WWII! You don’t get to go deep into the mine but it’s more of a family friendly museum where you can walk through and see the different set ups and machinery used throughout the years.
David — Google review
Beautiful museum with tour through underground tunnels which are partly recreated as an old coal mine and partly authentic to store and transport coal underground to prevent bombings in the war. The mine itself is largely flooded and was operative from the thirties till the sixties in the 20th century. Tours in Italian, French and English every day, best to contact tourist office for reservation and up to date timetables. Guide spoke fluently English and gave a lot of information of high quality. The underground tunnels were very well set up and very interesting. The collection and information panels of the museum are absolutely worth a visit (also in English). Would totally recommend if you are into (coal) (mining) history.
Mike L — Google review
The entire surface site of the mine is in very good condition and you can wander around all of it though most buildings are inaccessible. The fascist period art deco buildings are lovely and in very good condition. The old lamp room and miner's dry houses a good museum which has Italian and English descriptions for most exhibits. The 'underground' tour explains most of the processes and machines the miner's used in context, but in some shallow tunnels that have been built to simulate work in the pit (which was at least 250m below).
John S — Google review
super interesting tour about the history of the coal mine that was started during fascism in world war II and the city of carbonia. you can only enter a small part of the mine that they prepared for the guided tours. the rest of the mine would be too dangerous for visits. best to book the tour online before you arrive
D.J. M — Google review
The woman behind the counter explained to us that they are currently renovating the museum, hence there is only a small temporary exhibition. There was no English tour today, but I think if we would have understood Italian, it would have been worth the visit. On other days there are English and French tours, also the employees are friendly
Fran V — Google review
I did the tour in English, and it was really interesting and impressive. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, and I learned a lot. She was also one of the best English speakers I encountered in Italy. I definitely recommend visiting this museum.
Wieger N — Google review
A wonderful place to visit, you have to book and I took the English tour, as I am from the North East of England so it was taking coals to Newcastle! The underground tour is well done as it gives the impression you are actually in the mine.

Outdoor Activities
Is Arenas Biancas - Spiaggia Dune Bianche is a stunning hidden gem located about 30 minutes from Teulada in Southern Sardinia. This expansive beach boasts soft white sands and crystal-clear waters, making it a perfect spot for relaxation. Accessing the beach involves navigating through a rough road to reach nearby paid parking, with breathtaking views of the sea and potential sightings of pink flamingos along the way.
Awesome beach. Fine white sand and clear water. It's was a bit windy. There are 2 car parking. One of them is private and cost €7/day. It is close to Sant'Anna Arresi. To reach it you need to drive about 2 km on secondary sandy and stony road. The other one which is the public parking is in the military zone, but there you have 7 km on secondary road. The advantage is that if you have tourist registration list you will pay only €3 for whole day parking and you can use this ticket to visit all beaches in the region for that day.
Dimitar D — Google review
There's at least one paid parking (8:00-20:00) that's close by, "parking le dune", because the navigation takes to the further side and the road is always closed to cars; the way to the parking is through a rough road with water on both sides. Once you park, you have to walk to the beach and then further left towards the white dunes, but on the way to the beach you have a stunning view of the sea on the right and if you're lucky, pink flamingos on your left. Beach is well kept and hopefully people keep off the dunes to help preserve them (it is forbidden to walk on them). There would be a couple Lidos on the beach where you can stay and enjoy the day when visiting.

Clean and clear water, sandy beach, dunes. Lovely 🥰 One of the best in this area.

It's a protected area and you are not allowed to walk up the dunes. 6 kilometers of white sand and the blue crystal water is breathtaking! People come with their own umbrellas and sunbeds but there are also private beaches. One of the best beaches of Sardinia. Highly recommend!

A total disaster of smelly dead plants on the beach. Was expecting a paradise and was left with a big disappointment. Hopefully it will be in better conditions in July when the touristic season starts. Also not easy to reach with close to no signs

Very nice beach, but also very popular so go early to get a parking spot (paid). The beach is huge with plenty of free space not occupied by bars. 👍🏼 Lovely!

Incredible view. Definitely a must see. The only recommendation is not to follow the Google maps road, it will lead you to a no pass road. Keep following the main road

Spiaggia di Porto Pino is a stunning white-sand beach located between the provinces of Cagliari and Carbonia in south Sardinia. Stretching 4 kilometers, it offers clear and calm waters with views of Isola La Vacca. The beach provides various amenities such as restaurants, bars, deck chair hire, and facilities. There are separate sections for dogs and calm waters suitable for children and inexperienced swimmers.
Absolutely beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear shallow waters The dunes are just wonderful to look at You can do a long walk about 2.5 KM along the beach

The beach is not the best one on the island, even though the photos are certainly one of the most amazing ones. The beach is mostly clean but due to the algae which are found on the sand and because they are not cleaned it is a little difficult to go into the water in some places. Overall, spending just half a day or one day in this place is certainly acceptable.

Lovely Blue family friendly beach. Good range of deck chairs to rent. Nice staff. Long wait for food but we went on the weekend so it's been busier than usual. Some toys for kids available. Clear lovely water Shallow. Parking pay at the machine for 7€ per day. Can be quick full. Further is dog beach and u can put your blankets whatever u need but its 10 min walk. If you stay just by the main car park u probably need to get paid chairs. I would recommend it. Really nice.
Joanna 2 — Google review
Crystal clear water, we rented an umbrella and two chairs for 35.- (3rd row from the sea) and the parking was 7.-. The price seems fair to me, since the beach was extremely clean and good maintained. We are planning to go again.

The beach si beautiful…BUT! Don ´t be fooled by the beautiful fotos. The sea here stinks! Very enough! They will probably here send something into the sea here! 🫣 Two sunbeds and parasol in first line it has a price 28€! Visited in august 2024.

A spectacular beach! From the main road you enter the gate to access the way to the beach. At the gate, you need to pay a parking fee that varies depending on the time of the day (between 7-3€). With the parking ticket, you can also switch beaches so you don’t have to pay the parking fee twice. Ask about this at the entrance of the first parking as they have to leave a note on the ticket. Tip: if you are staying in Teulada municipality, you can ask your host for a ticket stating that and you’ll pay only 3€ fee in several beaches in the area. From the entrance gate you’ll have to drive around 6km on a dirt road till the actual parking. The road is doable with a city car (made it with a Fiat Grande Punto). From the parking you’ll need to walk around 10 minutes until the beach. Arrived there you’ll have an amazing view over the blue sea and beautiful white fine sand dunes (note that it is forbidden to walk on the dunes). The beach is long and it is totally worth to have a walk from end to end. There’s an area with bar and umbrellas to rent. Sometimes it can be that windy that your sun umbrella will ask for mercy in a survival attempt, so maybe you can check the weather forecast beforehand. At this time of the year (beginning of July) the beach was not crowded at all and you could enjoy in peace the amazing views and crystal water. I would totally come back and recommend this beach to anyone that comes in Sardegna.
Ada C — Google review
You pay 7 Euros per day per car. Then you drive about 5km on a rocky road to the beach. Then you walk for like 500m to finally arrive at the beach. It is a beautiful long beach. Enough space for everyone. Therefore you will not feel like sardines in a can. You can take a long walk (30 - 60 minutes) a long this beautiful clean white beach. The water is also really clean. It seems to be famous for windsurfing and it is indeed very windy.

Mines
The Palazzo della Direzione della Miniera di Montevecchio is a remarkable historical site that offers a glimpse into the rich mining heritage of the region. Active from 1848 until 1991, this impressive structure was designed by Giovanni Antonio Sanna between 1870 and 1877 and served as the administrative hub for the expansive Montevecchio mining complex.
(Translated by Google) The Montevecchio mine is part of a huge mining complex that extends for square kilometers in the valleys surrounding the town of Arbus. Unfortunately it cannot be visited in its entirety. In Ingortosu you can partially visit the mining site of the same name. Most of the Laverie facilities are destroyed by man and by time subsequently. It is fascinating to imagine what it was and the humanity that lived in those times. The lives that have been sacrificed and the inglorious end of the mining sites, not due to lack of minerals but due to excessive costs.

(Translated by Google) Designed and built by Giovanni Antonio Sanna between 1870 and 1877, in the town of Gennas, the management building was the beating heart of the Montevecchio mining plants. According to the original idea, it should have housed the administrative offices, a small church and the home of Sanna, who in reality never lived there, as he died in 1875, two years before the end of the works. Initially the building housed the offices on the ground floor, the archive on the first floor, the director's home on the second, and, in the attic, the servants' quarters. Over the years, it lost its residential function and was almost entirely used as offices. The re-use involved the loss of many wall paintings, covered by whitewashing, today partly brought to light thanks to targeted recovery interventions.

Visitors can expect a 45-minute tour involving ascending and descending stairs through the well-maintained cave interior.
Amazing adventure out in the middle of southern Sardinia. Beautiful geological formations. 16 c degrees inside all year round. Great tour guides in English, funny and informative at the same time.

A 1.5 hour drive away from Poetto Beach. Beautiful cafe tour with a guide who is passionate and knowledgeable and made the whole experience extra enjoyable and fun. And definitely a great escape from the scorching heat. We were there in early July and there was only a small group, so we kinda got a private tour especially when the group split into English and Italian speaking. Not wheelchair friendly as there are many steps to climb.

If you want to take a little break from your beach holiday, try visiting the caves and you will enjoy it. It was our first time in the caves and we loved our visit - comfortable constant 16 degrees, the beautiful mineral aragonite and some interesting facts how and when the cave was formed and discovered. Highly recommend.

Grotte Is Zuddas in Sardinia is quite interesting with impressive rock formations, though the entry feels a bit pricey for the experience. Can get very crowded.

A very nice cave tour. A friendly and nice guide. He explained about the different stones and the different rooms in the cave. The tour is fine with children and older people. But be prepared for a lot of stairs! I recommend to check before you go what time slots are available.
Yuval — Google review
We just loved our visit to the caves today. The tour took about an hour and a half and filled with beautiful views of the geological wonder. Lots of steps, up and down so be prepared, it's also slippery, but not as cold as I had expected. We received a summary of the tour in English on a card. Unfortunately, it was a little too dark down there to read, but the guide shared some points for the few English speakers. I highly recommend this cave, just amazing!

It was a great experience. There are different tour guys we’re could speak in different language to explain this historical cave. Staffs are kind and friendly and lots of fantasies. It’s almost 45 to 1 hr walk. Naturals crystal that grows in the rocks. Take note must bring jacket cause it’s cold inside specially when you go more deeper in the cave. Path was not that difficult you can also bring you kids. Use a comfortable suit and shoes and don’t forget to bring water.

Nestled in the southwestern corner of Sardinia, Spiaggia di Tuerredda is a true gem that captures the essence of paradise. With its stunning white sand reminiscent of Caribbean beaches and crystal-clear waters, this picturesque spot is perfect for sunbathing and swimming. The beach stretches over 500 meters in a charming V-shape, offering excellent conditions for snorkeling and water sports. Surrounded by lush Mediterranean flora, it creates an inviting atmosphere ideal for families and those seeking relaxation.
It is a Beautiful Beach, clean and crystal clear cool water. There is a lido but not setup yet for the season. We were here in May and is quite windy If you have an umbrella which you will need it as it gets very hot in the sun but also you will need to have the umbrella tied up with a cord and a spiral plastic screw into the sand otherwise it will blow away ! There is very limited free parking in the entrance but further in there is a car park which charge €5
Marianna B — Google review
We were on the free part of the beach on July 30th, where there are no reserved sunbeds. Sunbeds for the beach clubs can be reserved via WhatsApp or phone. Check the website for more information. No reservation is needed for the free beach, but full is full. And full is really full, very busy. And unfortunately, there were too many wasps. It will be beautiful here in the early and late season, hence the 4 stars. But in peak season, I think it deserves 3 stars. The sand is nice and fine, and the sea slopes evenly. We didn't stay on the beach for long because of the wasps. So, I can't comment on the restaurants. Park only in the designated, paid parking spaces and not along the road, as there are definitely checks for illegal parking.
John A — Google review
Beautiful stunning beach. Absolutely need a reservation but in September it was easy and not overly busy. Parking was available completely and two sunbeds and an umbrella went between 35 and 50 euros. The toilets were free but a little smelly as they are in a swamp. All in all a great day
Vicky A — Google review
Great beach. Short walk from parking (10Euro/day). Requires online booking to be made the day before from 08:00 (2Euro/person). Thanks to the limited number of visitors it was not overcrowded. Busy but acceptable. We came from Porto Pino, the drive is spectacular with plenty of roadside spots to stop and admire the views.

Breathtaking beauty. A beach with amazing white sand and crystal clear water. This is one of the most beautiful, exotic beaches on the island and a popular vacation spot in Sardinia, so it's essential to buy tickets online in advance. The shallow water with schools of fish is ideal for children and snorkeling. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, and you can have lunch at the beach club looking the sea. There's a large parking next to the beach, as well as several smaller ones nearby.
Tatiana — Google review
Wow an amazing beach with the most amazing water. You need to reserve in advance so make sure to do it a few days before you plan to visit. In case you didn’t and it׳s fully booked, you can do what I did: whatsapp Tuerredda beach club, and reserve an umbrella. They will grant you access to the beach. A bit costly but it’s worth it and will save your day.
Tal S — Google review
Stunning beach!!!!! Crystal clear blue water - there’s also a restaurant/ bar and beach chairs that can be rented. We went in September and paid the €2 euro per person entry fee online on the spot but in peak summer could see this place being full so might need to pay the reservation fee in advance. As part of the fee you get 1 shower + parking cost an additional €10.
Shira W — Google review
Perfectly clear, calm, turquoise water. The beach is a bit crowded but there will be a spot for your own umbrella! In the water, which gets deep relatively quickly, you will have the beautiful blue all to yourself basically. Parking is 10€ for the whole day and 6€ from 14:30 onwards, which is a bit pricey but absolutely worth it for this beach

Castello di Acquafredda

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled above the charming town of Siliqua, the Castello di Acquafredda is a captivating medieval fortress that once played a vital role as a military stronghold. This historic site, perched on a limestone hill, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the stunning Sardinian landscape. The invigorating hike to reach the castle is well worth it, leading you through serene forests and providing ample opportunities for wildlife spotting along the way.
The castle is maybe 40 minutes from Cagliari and is sign posted once close. There is a good sized and shaded car park on site. The castle is on a steep, conical mountain and dates to the thirteenth century, built to control access to the local silver and lead mines. It was owned by Pisa and then Aragon before passing in to disuse. The guy in the ticket office was really helpful and explained some background and safety tips before we started the climb. It was 260m through dense pine forest to the summit and although that is pathetic compared to Maz's endevour it was sweaty work! The pictures don't cover the birdsong or the scent of pine trees but take it from me, it was fantastic, expecially as we only saw one other visitor in the 2 hours we were there. The castle was split into three lines of defence as you climbed the hill and the path was a mixture of stone steps and wooden walkways. At the summit we were told the safety barrier was advisory so, working on my usual principle of I know best, we crossed it to carry on up to the keep. There were only a few bits of wall left but it gave an idea of the strength of the place and also the skill and effort that went in to building it! Originally the only access to the keep was a bridge built across the hillside from the guard tower but luckily they now have far more sensible steps! The climb up and down, although hard work, was really lovely and we saw lots of lizards and birds although none of the frogs or snakes that inhabit the hillside. There were some huge mushrooms though, the size of tea plates! Quite a bargain at €4 each. The entrance fee, not the mushrooms.

Forest walk, 360 degree panoramic views and an ancient castle- what’s not to love? The staff are helpful, there’s an audio guide you can access on your phone and when we visited on a Sunday at midday we had the place to ourselves. The views are insane too, well worth the walk uphill. We spent a good 2 hours but that was at a slow pace looking for wildlife and enjoying the serenity.

The beach is just 1 kilometer south of Chia beach and features several reefs that make it ideal for scuba diving.
There’s a bit of a walking distance from the parking spaces but it’s definitely worth it. This one is very well equipped with plenty of bars and sunbeds for rent. I walked through the entire beach and figured out that the last two or three bars are the best. So don’t get fooled by the first one you see when you arrive as some of them don’t offer sunbeds. I give 9/10 to this beautiful venue 🫴

One of the best beach in all Sardinia, close to the Chia on the south... You can come there by car, motorcycle and bus number 129 from Cagliari, Pula and all nearby places... There you can see beautiful gold colour of sand and very clear water like you are in the pool... So much free places to put your towel and ambrella, but because it's always little windy you must secure your umbrella 😀... Also there is place where you can rent beach equipment and if you are hungry or thirsty you can do it there... Price is very correct for this place.... I was there so much times and always it's so beautiful and you can relax... At back of the beach there is little lake with Flamingos... All recommendations for visit and take some nice pictures and videos if you are in south Sardinia

Not only the best beach in Sardinia, it is also among the finest beaches in the world that I have visited. It is a beach with incredibly fine sand. The water is crystal clear and the visibility under water is several meters. Bring a pair of goggles or swimming goggles and watch for fish. There is a small island that you can have fun swimming out to. You can walk almost the whole way, you have to swim the last few meters. It is often windy which is usually nice but if you have an umbrella with you it must be anchored well. Drive past everything and onto a gravel road and you will come to a large parking lot with the shortest walking distance.

It's anarchy. You buy your tickets but very luckily don't have a chair or a spot to sit. Shower before getting in the pool? No way. Quite noisy by the wave pool, no control over slides, you need to "borrow " the little cushion to slide, eventually people pass them on to their friends rather than to these queuing. Chairs are damaged and no control over them means people take a spare few just to put their bags on. No way you can lay a towel on the floor either. No grass, lots of sharp stone. Lots to queue. Beware of eorking staff speeding in the golf cart.
El B — Google review
We had a really good time at this water park! The staff were super friendly, interactive, and made the experience even better. The slides are a lot of fun, though there aren’t that many of them. There’s both a café and a restaurant on-site, but the food is definitely overpriced. On the plus side, there are plenty of seating areas with shade, which makes it easy to relax between rides. Overall, a fun place to spend the day!
Sara N — Google review
Older, but still nice aquapark. The slides are ok. The best for kids above 12 and bellow 6. For our 8 years old daughter we had to sign a paper, then she got blue bracelet and she was allowed to all slides except the Flying race, even though some tobogans were super slow. However this rule is not written anywhere and may change. The Rollercoaster slide is only above 16 years and today it was opened only for 30 minutes in the afternoon. We have been there on weekday and it was not crowded at all. There is plenty of beds and places in shade. The whole place is clean and each slide is watched by a lifeguard. There are also some animations in the wave pool and obligatory "foam party". At the end we had a great day.

Decent water park for small kids. Everything is a bit retro and tired looking but our 5yo did not care. The entertainment has a bit of an Italian Butlins vibe which is not really our thing but great for kids. Foam party and wave machine were a hit!

Nora, Italy is an open-air museum that dates back to the 9th century BC and offers a glimpse into the myth-infused village's history. Located just outside Pula, this ancient site boasts impressive Carthaginian and Roman remains, including a theater, baths, roads, and a drainage system. Visitors can explore the area on free tours or with the help of the Norapp for an audio-described tour.
The park is stunning. We decided to visit by chance, but the experience has been outstanding. The park is well kept, and more excavation are still in progress, so more areas could be reveled in the next years. It’s incredible to see how well kept some mosaics are. We fell in love with the place, and would suggest it to everyone in love with history.

Great archeological park, worth a visit! We had a lovely tour guide who showed us the sights and explained the history of the place. There's a lot of history, it's less massive and touristic than Pompei or Rome, so it's easier to take in and have a feeling for how life used to be here a thousand years ago. You can even see archeologists working on the excavation sights!
F — Google review
There is so much history behind this archaeological site. It is a Roman city that has seen its ups and downs throughout the history but what we are seeing today is simply a glimpse of how the people were living in the area during Roman times. Overall, it is well worth the entrance ticket and visiting. It is one of the highlights from this area of the island of Sardinia.
Goran A — Google review
Interesting site and larger than expected. 10 euros admission but guided pathways and good levels of information. Fascinating local history. Worth the short walk and a definite visit if in the area.
Alan B — Google review
Really impressive location with the main weight on Punic and Roman history. Lots of information, but recommended to have a guide. Beautiful beach nearby as well.
Renno S — Google review
Incredible history, the site itself is amazing. Would prefer option to book a guided tour online as my email went unanswered.
Masha M — Google review
Lovely and interesting place! Learnt a lot about the history of Nora, and make sure you grab a snack and drink near the entrance. You'll be treated to a fantastic view.
Mayun S — Google review
Small archaeological site. Good for maybe an hours visit. There are plenty of interpretation boards in English and Italian (some with French), though you may have to work out the alignment of what the board is talking about, as it's not always directly in front of you. Small cafe bar on site, and toilets come sweat boxes as well. If following Google Maps, you can't actually drive on to the site as suggested. You need to use the public paid parking near the church and walk the 10 mins or so.

Parco della Giara

Park
Nature & Parks
Mountain retreat for hiking and enjoying a cool breeze and a deliciously simple pure tagliere lunch of cut meats, cheeses and local breads with wonderful olive oil, with kind and welcoming staff. Sardinian hospitality! The park is rough beautiful and includes a great number of nuaraghe ruins. Well recommended, even a small walk.
Marc B — Google review
Extremely high number of visitors. The majority came to picnic in the car park near the Info point, but larger groups could still be found in many places. Observing nature is difficult here, but wild horses were still spotted. Either way, the area is huge, beautiful and ideal for shorter hikes.
Steffen F — Google review
A strange and Impressive place where the wild horses of Sardinia can be seen. Would warmly recommend. You have to leave the car at the end of the climb and then with a little bit of luck you will be able to see them. Be quiet and enjoy at the views of the wild horses because if you are too noisy they will get away :)
Martin L — Google review
Beautiful and quiet place located 1,25 hour from regional capital Cagliari. There is botanical part. But what is total cool are wild ponny horses! If you are lucky you can see them in the morning or in the afternoon.
Vít Č — Google review
One of the best place I have ever been ❤️🐴
Emilia P — Google review
Great walk around the park with one of the excellent park guides (Roberto) who took us to see the horses and cattle. We went in the late afternoon when it was (a little) cooler. Well worth getting a guide who will tell you about what you’re seeing and the history of the park and region.
Graham H — Google review
Nice free park. From the entrance it's possible to walk an easy 2.5 km path (one way) through cork trees and the Mediterranean vegetation to the two ponds hosting the wild little horses and some cows. If in Summer, better to go in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat, as some parts are without shade.
Thomas L — Google review
Visited the park in early November. It was beautiful green and it felt like to be an 'island of serenity'. Saw 7 wild horses - Giara horses too :-) Map&flyer cost 2 €, though there were hardly any signes on the routes. We identified where we were on the map on basis of what landmark/ruin we passed by :-D We did not get lost but still the lack of signs is a thing to improve. Guides were nice but only spoke a bit of English. At the information there is a nice cafeteria with a view.

Great experience, children (3) and (1) absolutely loved it. Did the tour of the reptiles and fish, staff were extremely helpful and accommodating with us speaking English. Kids loved the dinosaurs. Food and espresso were great here too!
Jordan J — Google review
Our second time visiting - the place is such a great attraction for families, with a lot to offer. The staff here are so friendly, especially the aqua natura staff, interacting so well with the children and adults alike, that it makes the visit a special one. We enjoyed a nice light lunch, and my top tip is to wear hats to protect from the sun.
Edel K — Google review
We had a good time at the small park. The train ride and the boat tour were nice, and we loved the (moving!) dinosaurs. Also the nuraghi village was interesting. Apart from that there are a few more attractions so that we spend about 3 hours there in total. Hint: Buying tickets online is more expensive then on-site.
Angela — Google review
Feels abandoned and not visible maintenance. Aquariums could be more clean. There is some lizard and koi carp you can touch. Dinosaur area could be more entertaining (not well maintained). Train and boat ride.(no hours just random how the operator feelslike ) Restaurant clean but just a few options. Ice-cream stand with a great options for kids. Coffe was very good. Little gift shop. Planetary guide speak just Italian...and play you aome good stuff no one understands...our family of 4...rusian family of 4 and some UK family of 6 was quite bored and lost. Word to an owner: Park has a potential. But luck of advertising kills it. Send some fliers to an airports and tourist information. I find an information just on 1 website and it was somewhere at the bottom.
Tomasz G — Google review
Positives: - Lovely atmosphere - different and interesting animals compared to most other parks - Interactive moving dinosaurs - Extra cooling, ventilators etc to deal with the heat Negatives: - no English guides available, as a result the guided areas of the park are hard to visit if you don't speak italian

If you want to spend a relaxing day ,with fun and also with a cultural touch, you must visit Sardinia in miniature, a park in the heart of Marmilla, near Barumini and Tuili, where you will be immersed in a particular atmosphere, among reproductions of dinosaurs, a planetarium, the nature section and the miniature reconstruction of landscapes, cities and renowned corners of Sardinia. There is a well-stocked restaurant ( but there Is also a dining free aerea in the park) and bar and the park can also be toured on a small train and a small boat on the internal canal. Particularly dedicated to families, but very interesting for everyone
Fabi64 — Google review
Nice experience if you have kids and if you’re not going when the temperature is above 23°. Do not expect much anyway. If you’re going on a public holiday day: expect your day to be ruined by other people there. They will push you to get before you on the attractions, they will put a towel and a picnic basket on all of the table since 9 AM so that are not gonna be any left and they will not let anyone use the table but them until 4pm.
Elisa M — Google review
This is a cute park. With children it can be a nice program, however this isnt a big area, the facilities arent that spaceous. The miniature Sardegna with the buildings and the landmarks is very cool, going around in the boat is supercool, the small train is awesome, however, when you ride the train, you saw the whole park. We couldnt go to the planetarium, so i can't reflect on that. Foodvise its more than okay. They have kids menus, daily menus, and a stake so big it hangs off the plate. Very good kitchen! So its a nice place to visit, but in the end the park is not a big deal.

Sights & Landmarks
Su Nuraxi di Barumini, located in Sardinia, is a UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the prehistoric Nuragic civilization. It features well-preserved stone structures, including circular towers known as nuraghe, and various archaeological artifacts. The site offers valuable insights into ancient construction techniques and societal organization. Su Nuraxi di Barumini appeals to archaeology enthusiasts and history aficionados interested in ancient civilizations.
One of the most unique experiences that you can have on the island of Sardinia. The place can be only visited with a guide, but it will be well worth the visit. If you are visiting during the summer time, make sure that you will have some umbrella or some long sleeves so that you will be protected from the Sun. Sunscreen is definitely a must. The guide will explain the entire history and will give some interesting facts about the structures. Overall, this is definitely one of the must visit places on the island and with one ticket you get to visit two more places.
Goran A — Google review
Beautiful important archaeological site. The tours are every 30 minutes and they last 1 hour. Tour is available in English too, price is decent and includes the museum in the village ahead of the site and other activities as well. Highly recommended.
Mattia M — Google review
UNESCO world heritage. Very interesting historical place to visit. Very good guided tour (eng) at this +1500 years old fortress. Be prepared for narrow and steep walkways within the structure.
Mårten W — Google review
Fascinating and a must-see site for all who love ancient history. Well-preserved Nuragic complex dating back over 3,500 years. The central tower (~ 18 meters high) and surrounding village give you a real sense of how advanced the Nuragic civilization was. Narrow passages, spiral staircases, and circular huts show how people lived many years ago. The guided tour was informative and brought the place to life. Included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Please check the time when excursions start to avoid long waiting (especially in English). Highly recommended
Mykola K — Google review
Interesting former fort. An archaeological experience although much reconstructed. Tour takes you up the remains and into the narrow tunnels. Inside isn't for information or claustrophobic! Fascinating site and location. Tours are required and run every half hour. Unesco interest.
Alan B — Google review
The past can be touched and felt. Amazing piece of history. The tour guide was very kind and funny. No question left un answered. But note: The pathways inside the tower are really narrow and steep. Good footwear needed ...not for claustrophobic people or when afraid of hights.
Marie-Colette L — Google review
It's a good experience since you learn a bit of the history of Nuragis, also the archeological site is quite impressive due to the rock sizes, however, it is a short visit, no museums or any other interactive experience that will explain or show more about the history of Nuragis besides what the guide explains. Short experience, it's worth to visit if you are driving through.
Alejandro R — Google review
The archaeological site itself is truly impressive and well worth visiting; the problem lies with the tour guide. During the tour, you are required to follow the guide. However, perhaps because it was peak tourist season in August, the guide seemed more like a temporary employee. Her English was fluent, but somewhat unclear, as if she had simply memorized a script. She couldn't understand questions asked in English, and didn't seem to have a deep understanding of the site's history. Her presentation consisted of a few photocopied pictures, and with so many people spread out, it was difficult to hear her. Furthermore, she didn't allow enough time to properly explore and appreciate the site. Even worse, when we wanted to stop for a few minutes to observe and take photos, she rudely refused and abruptly closed the gate (there were no other groups, so there was no issue of overcrowding). She ignored our questions, even when we told her that another family from our group was still behind us, slowly walking along. She offered no response and showed no enthusiasm or passion for the culture. There were many tourists from various countries. It's fair to say that visiting guided tours is a bit of a gamble. During our travels in Sardinia, we visited countless sites and met many enthusiastic tour guides who were passionate about history and culture; we learned so much from them and left with a wealth of knowledge and wonderful memories. However, for this particular tour, had we not done some research beforehand, paying for the guided tour would have been a waste of money and we would have been disappointed.

Polo Museale "Casa Zapata" is a museum housed in a historic building that was once the residence of the Marquises of Aragona. The museum is divided into three sections: archaeological, historical, and ethnographic. It features artifacts from past farming life and showcases what has been found in the nearby Nuraxi. The unique aspect of this museum is the presence of a nuraghe inside the building, making it an interesting combination of history and architecture.
Our visit was included in our ticket for Sunday Nuraxi. There was a warm welcome and interesting introduction. It was fascinating to see the remains of the Nuraghi settlement and especially interesting to see the archeological did in progress.
Megan V — Google review
This museum is to be considered an extension of the Su Nuraxi Di Barumini cultural site. The entrance ticket to Nuraxi gives free access to the Casa Zapata (about 500 meters down the road towards Barumini). Casa Zapata is the house of the Spanish Zapata family who built their estate on top of a second Nuraghe site. You can walk through the estate, visit the on-site church and go inside the original house where you see the Nuraghe ruins. Nice to have this included, because I otherwise wouldn't have stopped here.
Matthias S — Google review
Came here after visiting Su Nuraxi (admission is included in the Su Nuraxi ticket). I do not speak Italian, so staff pointed in the direction of the most interesting exhibit, no guide for me. It was interesting enough wandering around for less than 30 minutes, the grounds are pretty and the main building is built over a nuraghe (there are glass floors and whatnot so you can see the foundation). All signs are in Italian, but they do have a video in English about making some musical instrument. Worth a quick visit since admission is included in the Su Nuraxi ticket.

In the historic Castello quarter of Cagliari, Italy stands the impressive Torre dell'Elefante, a 14th-century limestone tower adorned with a sculpted elephant. Closed for renovation works for some time, it has now reopened to the public. Built as part of the city's medieval defenses by the Pisans, it offers visitors memorable views over the port and sea. The tower is an important piece of medieval engineering and provides a glimpse into Cagliari's rich history.
This is a huge, impressive tower that incredibly was built in 1307. It would give you incredible views over Cagliari ... if it wasn't closed for renovation work (July 2025). Still good to look at from outside though.
David S — Google review
The Torre dell'Elefante (1307) stands on the ramparts of Cagliari (Sardinia), Italy. The tower was built during a period of Pisan domination to defend against the threat of an Aragonese invasion. The tower defended the western entrance to the Quartiere Castello of medieval Cagliari. A retractable draw gate controlled access to the medieval city from the lower town. The sculpture of an elephant to the left of the gate gave the tower its name.
David S — Google review
Very interesting structure, historic and quite mesmerizing.
Goran A — Google review
The tower is beautiful but has been temporarily closed for around 2 years, which is a pity. In 2022 was open, but from 2023 they closed it and today it’s the same. Many important tourist attractions in Cagliari are closed for some reason unfortunately..

This was a cool stop I walked to from the cruise port, it was uphill the entire time but the views were pretty cool. There are many stairs to get to the top, and once you get there there are several benches and some trees. Unfortunately none of the benches had shade.

Bastione di Saint Remy is a beautiful and historic landmark offering stunning views over Cagliari. It’s a great spot for photos, relaxing, and soaking in the local atmosphere. The architecture and terrace are impressive, especially at sunset. However, accessibility can be an issue—there’s only one elevator, which often means long waits. If you’re traveling with kids or strollers, be prepared for some inconvenience, especially during busy times. Still, it’s worth the visit.

Sights & Landmarks
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is a stunning 13th-century cathedral located in Cagliari, Sardinia. Originally built as a church dedicated to Santa Cecilia, it was later elevated to the rank of cathedral during the Aragonese domination. The cathedral boasts a graceful Gothic exterior and a lavish interior adorned with baroque decor. Inside, visitors can explore the vast marble pulpit and crypt containing royal tombs.
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e Santa Cecilia is truly a hidden gem and an architectural marvel that left me absolutely amazed. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into a world of spiritual tranquility and artistic beauty. The cathedral’s exterior, with its classic Romanesque style, immediately captures your attention, but it’s the interior that truly takes your breath away. The play of light through the stained glass windows creates a serene and almost mystical atmosphere. Every corner is rich with detail—elaborate frescoes, intricate carvings, and a sense of sacred history that seems to whisper through the stone walls. The combination of devotion and artistry is overwhelming in the best possible way. You can sense the centuries of faith and community that have built and sustained this sacred place. The altar, dedicated to both the Virgin Mary and Saint Cecilia, is particularly moving. Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, adds a poetic touch to the ambiance—you almost expect to hear distant organ music resonating through the air. Whether you’re religious or not, this cathedral offers a powerful experience. It’s not just a place of worship, but a testament to human creativity and devotion. I highly recommend a visit—it’s nothing short of extraordinary.

The outside doesn’t look like much but the inside is breathtaking. It is big, highly decorated and the crypt is nice. The marble statues and pillars are incredibly beautiful. You can enter for free and give a small price for the crypt.
Thibaut — Google review
Beautiful baroque church. Please be mindful of your attire when you enter. There is a crypt under the altar that you can visit- entrance is on the left side and exit on the right. There is a shop by the left side that sells some rosaries and other stuff, very affordable and highly recommend. We parked infront of the church, just after the steps, only park if you are a small car (smart, fiat panda, hyundai i10). Otherwise, there are designated parking area or you risk blocking the road.

If you’re in Cagliari, you shouldn’t miss the Cathedral. It’s not only a religious and historical landmark, but also a fascinating mix of architectural styles, scenic views, an atmospheric crypt, and a sense of deep history. Especially recommended for those who appreciate architecture, art, and strolling through charming old streets.

The lower cathedral area under the main alter is amazing. The roof in that area is incredible to look at. Amazing marble work. Quite a walk up the hill to reach the cathedral but well worth it, especially if you are planning to visit Bastion Remy also as it is nearby. There was a holy communion or baptism happening at the time we visited. Interesting to see it as a tourist attraction but also used by the locals.

I had a wonderful swim here in the clear water. Whoever is in charge for the museum missed the oppurtunty to explain or visualize history. Very poor museum experirience! Thid is not a park, there are stones, sourrounded by a fence.

Nuraghe Arrubiu, located about 10km south of Orroli in Sardinia, is a pre-Roman settlement with restored stone towers, courtyards, and huts. The site offers guided tours and is known for its red-colored structures rising out of the Sarcidano plain. Visitors recommend allocating enough time to explore the large area and suggest visiting just before sunset for the best lighting.
Next stop after nuraghe Piscu was another nuraghe, this one at Arrubiu, which was a proper tourist site with a cafe - so we could finally have breakfast - and paid for admission. This was another huge site with walls maybe 10m high and 3m thick and multiple buildings and towers radiating from the centre. There were more wild flowers including poppies as well as lots of basking lizards. In this tower you could see the spiral stairs although they have been blocked off part way up for 'safety reasons'. The staff here were very helpful and gave us an English leaflet describing the site, the purpose of each room and what had been found in excavations. It was impressive how cold some of the interior rooms were considering it was around 30 degrees C outside. The main tower was originally over 25m high which is pretty impressive for something built 1500 years before the Roman Empire was founded.

Wonderfully preserved site with complete explanations. You can book a tour guide or get the physical booklet in several languages to visit the place, which takes a bit more than 30 minutes. The entrance fee of 5€ per person is fair and the staff really kind. Don’t worry about your car: the parking lot is huge and free. The place is kind of accessible for people in a wheelchair chair if you’re brave enough to do some off-road and miss a few spots.

The most insane and beautiful nuraghe I've ever seen! This is an absolute MUST to visit while in Sardinia. A very complex structure with intact floors and a 360° view of a beautiful landscape in the heart of Sardinia. The bookstore, ticket room and bar are very organized and cute. Thank you!

This is one of the most interesting nuraghe in Sardinia. Quite extensive and well preserved, it gives you a good idea about how these 3-thousand-year old buildings were structured. The ticket office also includes a bar and toilets

€5 to go in and the same price can get you either the guided tour in Italian (at 12pm) or a self-guided tour with literature translated into other languages. The workers at the center were very nice. The nuraghe is impressive. However, the literature is very technically-focused, explaining more about how the structure was made instead of what it was used for. I’d still recommend a visit.

Beautiful restored & maintained nuraghe, 5€ entrance fee with a booklet provided with some facts & details, little bar & gift shop. Well worth a visit.

This site is special. We went back twice. I recommend giving yourself some time as it is quite big and there is more to see and take in then other Nurahge sites. The park closes at sunset and I find the light at sunset the best time to be there, so if you can I suggest enjoying just before you must leave. The staff is kind and the cafe and gifts are housed in a nice building mirroring the Nurahge, in good taste. Plenty of parking. In summer, an hour before sunset was not at all crowded. Bring water!

Nice place, full of history and... wonderful view from a top :) Worth to do a few steps and have short walk around the construction
