Gavilgarh Fort

Mentioned on
1 list
Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Gavilgarh Fort is a stunning 15th-century hilltop fort located in Chikhaldara, offering breathtaking mountain and valley vistas. The fort was a gateway to Burhanpur from the Deccan Plateau and has a rich history associated with it. It takes almost a day to explore the large fort in its entirety. The name of the fort comes from the Gawli (cow herds) who inhabited Berar for centuries.
Gawilgarh Fort is an incredible hidden gem that offers a fascinating journey into history! Perched atop the Satpura Range, the fort provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, making the trek up well worth the effort. The fort itself is massive, with well-preserved bastions, walls, and gates that tell tales of its glorious past. Exploring the fort feels like stepping back in time. The ancient architecture, intricate carvings, and the remains of the grand structures are awe-inspiring. The peaceful ambiance, away from the hustle and bustle, adds to the charm, making it a perfect spot for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. However, be prepared for a bit of a hike and bring your essentials, as there are limited facilities around the fort. It’s advisable to visit with a guide to truly appreciate the historical significance and the stories behind each corner of this majestic fort. Overall, Gawilgarh Fort is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the beauty and history of Maharashtra!
Endless T — Google review
Visited on 13th July We started early to avoid the rush and soak in the beauty before the sun came out — and it was the best decision! The climate was absolutely amazing — super windy, foggy, and refreshingly cool. As we trekked through the lush greenery, the misty trail and ancient stone walls of Gavilgarh Fort felt like a scene straight out of a movie. The views from the top were surreal — clouds drifting through the fort, occasional glimpses of the valley below, and the wind carrying a mysterious calm. It’s the perfect monsoon escape for nature and history lovers. Pro tip: If everyone follows line discipline and parks responsibly, the visit becomes smoother and traffic-free. Highly recommended for a peaceful, scenic, and slightly adventurous experience!

Ancient majestic fortress in Chikhaldara. Place is eery giving a adventurous vibe, complete tour of this archaic site needs atleast 3-4 hours by walk. Good for trek.

Gavilgarh Fort is a MUST-VISIT when in Chikhaldara! The history, the views, the vibes – everything is just wow 🤩. The fort is nicely maintained, and the entrance fee is super nominal. Be prepared for a bit of a climb ⛰️, so bring water and comfy shoes. The views are breathtaking, and you'll get some amazing photo ops . Rich in history and natural beauty, this place will leave you spellbound. Highly recommended!
Amruta C — Google review
The entrance looks majestic. A board put at the entrance depicts it's glorious history since the 15th century. Unfortunately , there are only ruins. Though I saw a handful of construction labours trying to keep whatever is left of the structure after centuries of neglect. Practically there is nothing left except the entrance. However you can go for a long hike inside the campus. It takes around 3 hrs to complete the hike. Carry your own water and food. The main gate closes at 5 pm and if u r late u ve to literally shout from the top of the mountain to attract the gate keepers attention and let you out.
SWAPNIL — Google review
The fort takes its name from the Gawali (cow herds) who inhabited the Berar (modern day Amravati) for centuries. Earlier the fort was likely just made of mud as were several such areas in the region. The exact date of construction is not known but the Persian historian, Firishta, records that Ahmed Shah Wali, the ninth king of the Bahamani dynasty reconstructed Gawilgarh when he was encamped at Ellichpur in 1425. Likely this was the date when major fortification was carried out. In 1803 during the 2nd Maratha war the fort was besieged by Arthur Wellesley (later Duke of Wellington). After two failed attempts at the main gate by British and Sepoy companies, and many casualties, Captain Campbell led the 94th Highlanders (light company) up the ravine dividing the inner and outer forts and into the inner fort by escalate. The Scots then forced the northern gatehouse and opened the many gates, allowing the remaining British forces entry. The British suffered few casualties in the final assault. The fortress was returned to the Killedar Rana Shivsingh Rajput of the Maratha Empire, after making peace with the British but they abandoned it.

Tranquil Hindu temple complex built from carved marble stone & featuring a central courtyard.
Gajanan Maharaj Temple, Shegaon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Visiting the Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Shegaon is a truly peaceful and spiritually uplifting experience. The temple exudes calmness, devotion, and a deep sense of positivity. The darshan of Shri Gajanan Maharaj feels divine, and the entire campus is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. One of the most impressive aspects is the discipline maintained throughout the temple premises. From the queues to the prasadalay and overall crowd management, everything is done in an organized and respectful manner, which adds to the serenity of the visit. The automatic parking management system is another highlight — it’s smooth, efficient, and makes handling large numbers of visitors very easy. Unfortunately, the Anand Sagar complex is still under maintenance, so I couldn’t explore it this time, but it’s definitely something I look forward to on my next visit. Overall, a highly recommended place for anyone seeking peace, devotion, and a well-organized pilgrimage experience.

Undoubtedly, Shree Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan in Shegaon stands out as one of the cleanest, most well-maintained, and well-organized devotional places in Maharashtra. From the moment you arrive in Shegaon until you complete your Samadhi or Mukh Darshan and participate in the Mahaprasad, you can truly feel the positivity, peace, and helpfulness that surround the entire town. Every volunteer and staff member greets devotees with humility, ensuring the spiritual experience remains calm and fulfilling ✨️ The Sansthan has made exceptional arrangements for accommodation. There are around 5–10 Bhakta Niwas facilities available for devotees, though bookings must be made in person as there’s no online option. The cleanliness of the premises, quality of water, and discipline of the staff are remarkable. Additionally, the Sansthan manages Anandsagar and Visava, both excellent options for peaceful stays. Every corner from walkways to resting areas is spotless and well maintained, reflecting the devotion and commitment of the management 🙌🏻 Crowd levels vary through the week: Thursday is the busiest day, followed by Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For a smoother and quicker darshan, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are ideal. Senior citizens, pregnant women, and mothers with young children receive special assistance throughout the darshan route, ensuring comfort for everyone. Clean and well-equipped washrooms are thoughtfully placed across the complex, considering the large number of visitors. The Parayan Mandapam is another highlight devotees can sit peacefully to read the Vijay Granth or Prarthana Stotra in a serene and well-kept environment 💯 On average, the Samadhi Darshan takes about an hour, while the Mukh Darshan can be completed within 10–15 minutes. There’s no VIP culture here, everyone is treated with the same respect and devotion, which makes this place truly special ❤️ Jay Gajanan! 🙏🏻🌸

Lonar Lake is a hidden gem in Maharashtra, formed by a meteor impact over 50,000 years ago! The unique blend of alkaline and saline water makes it a rare geological wonder. Surrounded by lush greenery and ancient temples, it's a great spot for nature lovers and history enthusiasts. The trek down to the lake is scenic, but wear good shoes as the path can be uneven. A must-visit for anyone exploring offbeat destinations!
Lalit S — Google review
The near perfectly circular Lonar Lake is a saline lake formed out of a crater made by a meteorite impact in the area over 50,000 years ago. The lake is a part of the Lonar wildlife sanctuary established to preserve its unique ecosystem. The lake's water is blue green due to the colour of the algae thriving in its waters. It is surrounded by ancient temples, including the Gomukh Temple which showcases intricate carvings and sculptures. The lake is home to both endemic birds like peacock, migratory species like the flamingo as well as reptiles like monitor lizards. Trekking around the crater is a very popular sport.

If you've been captivated by the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, then the Aurangabad Caves are a must-visit. Carved into soft basalt rocks of Sihaychal ranges around the 6th century, these 12 caves house Buddhist shrines, stupas, and statues. Smaller and less crowded than their counterparts, they offer a serene exploration of rock-cut monuments.
The Aurangabad Caves are a hidden gem, offering a peaceful retreat with their ancient rock-cut architecture and intricate Buddhist carvings. Though not many people visit, the site has around 10 caves, some of which are closed, but the ones open are in great shape. A must-visit for history lovers!

Total 12 in number caves are attached to University in Aurangabad. Caves are mainly Buddhist with one cave dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Caves are divided in two sets with 1-5 on one side and 7-12 on other side. Both seperated by around 1-1.2km. You can enter Sanctum sanatorium here unlike Ajantha, you can see the sculptures inside the sanctum sanatorium. Caves not with such grandeur as Ajnatha caves but worth Visiting. you can get nice view of Aurangabad city from caves. Must visit caves within the group are caves with number 1,2,3 and 7.

The Aurangabad caves, are twelve rock-cut Buddhist shrines divided in two sets. 1-6 on one side and 7-12 on other side of the mountain. These caves are are 9 kilometers from Aurangabad city center and a few kilometers from the campus of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. As comparable to Ajanta and Ellora, the caves are much smaller. The ticket given for Rs. 25 can be used to see the caves on both sides. It is a protected monument under the ASI. The series of caves dedicated to Buddhism are beautiful.

Those who plan a visit to Ajanta and Ellora caves and visit Aurangabad alongwith , can keep this site as an extra attraction... normally Aurangabad is more likely to be known as for Daulatabad fort and Bibi ka Makbara as tourist attractions, but for the enthusiasts who are keen on ancient history of this zone, the rock cut caves of that era or about Buddhist movement and route of their heritage legacy can plan a visit to this ancient caves as well....

The Aurangabad Caves are a group of 12 rock-cut Buddhist shrines, rated as a worthwhile attraction for those interested in ancient Indian art and architecture. They are known for their depictions of Mahayana, Hinayana, and Vajrayana Buddhist art and are surrounded by green hills. While not as renowned as Ajanta or Ellora, they offer a unique glimpse into Buddhist cave temples and are worth visiting, especially for those with an interest in Buddhist deities and Tantric traditions. 🙏🏻

Entry fee 35 rs . There are 2 aurangabad caves here. You can take ticket and watch caves Nice place to visit. You have to drive on hill and then you can see aurangabad caves. It's near to bibi ka makawara place
Sujeet B — Google review
The Aurangabad Caves are one of the hidden treasures of the city. Located just a few kilometers from Bibi Ka Maqbara, these ancient rock-cut caves date back to the 6th–7th century and beautifully showcase Buddhist architecture and artistry. The caves are divided into two main groups, each with impressive carvings, sculptures, and meditation halls. The detailing on the stone statues of Buddha and Bodhisattvas is remarkable, reflecting the skill and devotion of ancient craftsmen. From the top, you also get a panoramic view of Aurangabad city and Bibi Ka Maqbara, which adds to the experience. The site is usually less crowded compared to Ajanta and Ellora, making it peaceful and easier to explore. However, some areas are not very well maintained, and better facilities for visitors (like signage and cleanliness) would improve the overall experience. Pros: Rich history and Buddhist heritage Beautiful carvings and sculptures Peaceful, less crowded spot Great city view from the hilltop Cons: Needs better maintenance and cleanliness Limited facilities for tourists

BIBI KA MAQBARA ( Chatrapati Sambhaji nagar )

Mentioned on
+93 other lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Bibi ka Maqbara, also known as the 'Taj of Deccan,' is a marble Mughal mausoleum built in the mid-1600s. It features a garden, fountains, and intricate carvings. Despite attempts to outshine the Taj Mahal, it ended up being a mere shadow of the original due to budgetary constraints and opposition from Emperor Aurangzeb.
Bibi Ka Maqbara is truly a hidden gem of Aurangabad! Often called the ‘Mini Taj Mahal’, this beautiful monument captures the essence of Mughal architecture with its white marble dome, intricate carvings, and peaceful surroundings. It was built by Aurangzeb’s son in memory of his mother, and you can really feel the love and artistry in every corner. The place is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for photography especially during the early morning or evening when the light hits the monument beautifully. The reflection of the tomb in the long water channel adds to its charm. There’s a calm vibe here, making it a great spot to sit, relax, and admire the historic beauty. A must-visit if you’re in Aurangabad rich in history, serene in atmosphere, and stunning in design! 🌸
Shivkumar K — Google review
Bibi Ka Maqbara means Mausoleum of the Lady. It is the burial place of Aurangzeb’s first wife, Rabia-ud-Durrani, built by Aurangzeb and later repaired by his son Prince Azam Shah between 1651 n 1661 AD. It bears a striking resemblance to the Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb's mother, Mumtaz Mahal, which is why it is also called the Taj of the Deccan. It is situated in the heart of Aurangabad (now Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar) city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Bibi Ka Maqbara is a fine example of Mughal design infused with local artistry. The central marble mausoleum is surrounded by intricate minarets at each corner. A vast Charbagh style garden surrounds the tomb having pathways, fountains, and lush greenery creating an atmosphere of serenity. Though it is compared with the Taj Mahal, Bibi Ka Maqbara shines with its own grace. The marble used here is not as abundant as in Agra, but the delicate lattice work, intricate floral designs, and domed structures give it a charm that is both regal and poetic.
Shakeel A — Google review
Review of Bibi Ka Maqbara, Aurangabad My recent visit to Bibi Ka Maqbara in Aurangabad was a truly memorable experience. Often called the “Mini Taj Mahal,” this monument is an architectural marvel built by Azam Shah in memory of his mother, Dilras Banu Begum. Although inspired by the Taj Mahal, Bibi Ka Maqbara has its own charm and elegance that reflect the grandeur of Mughal architecture in the Deccan region. The first glimpse of the monument, with its tall minarets and white dome shining under the sunlight, left me awestruck. The intricate carvings on the marble, the symmetrical layout, and the peaceful gardens surrounding the structure create a serene and majestic atmosphere. As I walked through the pathway leading to the main tomb, the detailed work on the walls and arches reminded me of the artistic brilliance of that era. What impressed me most was how well-maintained the monument is despite its age. The surrounding area is clean, and the entry is well organized. The view from the front garden is perfect for photography—especially during the golden hours of sunrise or sunset. Visiting Bibi Ka Maqbara felt like stepping back in time, witnessing a son’s love and respect for his mother immortalized in marble. Though smaller in scale than the Taj Mahal, it carries the same emotional depth and historical significance. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for history lovers, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone who appreciates cultural heritage.

My visit to Bibi Ka Maqbara in Aurangabad turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Popularly known as the “Mini Taj Mahal,” this beautiful monument was built by Azam Shah as a tribute to his mother, Dilras Banu Begum. While it draws inspiration from the Taj Mahal, the structure possesses a distinct grace and charm that highlight the splendor of Mughal architecture in the Deccan. The moment the monument came into view—with its elegant minarets and gleaming white dome—I was instantly captivated. The finely crafted marble work, the balanced architectural design, and the tranquil gardens surrounding the complex create a peaceful and regal setting. Walking along the main pathway, I was struck by the exquisite detailing on the arches and walls, a true reflection of the craftsmanship of that era. What stood out even more was the excellent upkeep of the monument. The premises are clean, the management is smooth, and the gardens offer excellent photography spots, especially during sunrise and sunset. Exploring Bibi Ka Maqbara felt like entering a chapter of history, witnessing the enduring love of a son for his mother carved in stone. Though more modest in scale compared to the Taj Mahal, it carries a similar emotional essence and cultural richness. It is undoubtedly a place worth visiting for anyone who values history, architecture, or heritage.

"Bibi Ka Maqbara in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is a must-visit for anyone interested in Mughal history and architecture. Often called the 'Mini Taj Mahal,' it's an impressive monument built by Prince Azam Shah in memory of his mother, Dilras Banu Begum (Aurangzeb's wife). While it may be a scaled-down version of the Taj Mahal, it stands proud with its own grace and history. The white marble mausoleum is beautiful, especially the intricate carvings and the surrounding Charbagh style garden. My suggestions for a great visit: • Visit during the evening: The monument is beautifully lit up at night, which offers a completely different, magical experience. (Check the latest closing time before you go!). • A quiet place for reflection: It's generally less crowded than the Taj Mahal, allowing for a more peaceful appreciation of the architecture and historical significance. • Look for the details: Pay attention to the marble inlay work and the symmetry of the complex. If you are in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar to see the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, make sure to set aside time for this elegant historical site. Highly recommended! 5/5 Stars."

My recent visit to Bibi Ka Maqbara in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) was an unforgettable experience. Often referred to as the “Mini Taj Mahal”, this magnificent monument was built by Prince Azam Shah in memory of his mother, Dilras Banu Begum, the wife of Emperor Aurangzeb. While it takes inspiration from the Taj Mahal, Bibi Ka Maqbara has its own distinct beauty that reflects the elegance of Mughal architecture in the Deccan region. The moment I caught sight of the monument with its gleaming white dome and towering minarets shining under the sunlight I was completely mesmerized. The detailed marble carvings, perfect symmetry, and the peaceful Charbagh-style garden surrounding the tomb create a soothing and royal atmosphere. Walking along the pathway to the main mausoleum, I was struck by the craftsmanship and intricate artistry that showcase the skill and devotion of that era. Despite being centuries old, the monument is exceptionally well maintained. The area is clean, and the entry process is smooth and organized. The view from the front garden is especially picturesque, making it ideal for photography particularly during sunrise or sunset when the golden light enhances its beauty. Bibi Ka Maqbara beautifully represents a son’s love and reverence for his mother, immortalized in marble. Though smaller in scale compared to the Taj Mahal, it carries the same emotional depth and historical charm. The reflection of the tomb in the long water channel adds to its serene vibe, making it a peaceful place to sit, reflect, and admire the artistry around. If you’re visiting Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to explore Ajanta and Ellora Caves, you should definitely include Bibi Ka Maqbara in your itinerary. Tips for Visitors: 🌇 Best time to visit: Early morning or evening for pleasant weather and soft lighting. 💡 Evening visit: The monument looks magical when illuminated at night. 📸 Photography: Don’t miss capturing the reflections and symmetrical views. 🕌 Details: Observe the delicate floral patterns, marble inlay work, and arches for a closer look at Mughal artistry. Bibi Ka Maqbara truly stands as a hidden gem of Maharashtra graceful, historic, and full of artistic brilliance. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone who loves history, architecture, and peaceful heritage sites.

Visited Bibi ka Maqbara at night — a beautiful and serene experience. The monument closely resembles the Taj Mahal, though about half its size, and looks stunning under the night lights. It’s perfect for a short visit and offers a peaceful atmosphere. Definitely a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Aurangabad, especially if you’re here for the Ellora Caves or other nearby attractions.
Shoaib A — Google review
Often called the "Taj of the Deccan," this striking 17th-century marble structure is a key Mughal monument in Maharashtra. It resembles the Taj Mahal in Agra. History: This structure was built by Prince Azam Shah, the son of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, in loving memory of his mother, Dilras Banu Begum (also known as Rabia-ul-Daurani). Unlike the Taj Mahal, which was built by a husband for his wife, this is a tribute from a son to his mother. Designed by architect Ata-ullah and engineer Hanspat Rai, it was constructed on a modest budget, resulting in a mix of marble and basalt rather than pure marble. Plan Your Visit Timings: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Open Daily). Best Time: Early morning or sunset for the best lighting. ⚠️ Traffic & Road Alert. Road connectivity to the monument is poor when I visited. The approach roads are often riddled with potholes and congestion, so allow extra travel time.

Today I visited the Ellora Caves, and honestly, it was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. The place is absolutely stunning, a true masterpiece carved out of solid rock centuries ago. There are 34 caves in total, each with its own unique carvings, sculptures, and stories. What really blew my mind was the Kailasa Temple (Cave 16), which is carved entirely from a single massive rock. Just imagining the amount of time, effort, and creativity that must have gone into it left me speechless. Walking through the caves, I could actually feel the blend of Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain cultures that coexisted here. The artwork on the walls, the detailed pillars, and the peaceful atmosphere make it feel like stepping back in time. It’s not just a tourist spot, it’s a living piece of history. The surroundings are also beautiful, with cliffs, greenery, and a calm breeze that adds to the charm. If you ever visit Maharashtra, I’d totally recommend spending a day here. It’s more than just sightseeing; it’s an experience that makes you appreciate how incredible human creativity and devotion can be.

The Kailasa Temple at Ellora Caves is a stunning, singular attraction, famous for being entirely carved from a single rock of the mountain. Not only does the temple feature beautiful idols of gods and animals, but some of these sculptures are carved into the temple walls in a distinctive 3D/360° style. Furthermore, one side of the temple depicts scenes from the Mahabharata, while the other side is dedicated to carvings from the Ramayana.

Best among all prehistoric monuments. One day tour. Better to start from Shirdi and back to Shirdi rather than Sambhajinagar. 10 am to 3 pm sufficient for all caves. Winter is best to visit.

Shri Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is an 18th-century Hindu temple made of red stone, dedicated to the deity Shiva. It offers a serene and beautiful experience, especially on weekdays when it's less crowded. Visitors have the unique opportunity to touch the sacred Shivling in the inner sanctum. During Shravan month, it can get busy, but planning a visit on quieter days can provide a peaceful darshan experience.
My visit to the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple near Ellora was an experience filled with devotion and serenity. Being one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas, this temple holds a special place in the hearts of Shiva devotees, and standing there in person truly made me feel its spiritual power. The temple, crafted from striking red volcanic stone, is a wonderful example of traditional Hindu architecture. Every wall and pillar is adorned with beautifully carved figures and mythological scenes, showcasing the skill and imagination of ancient artisans. Stepping into the temple complex instantly brought a sense of calm—the chants of “Har Har Mahadev” echoing from every corner added to the sacred atmosphere. The premises are clean, organized, and maintained with great care. What makes Grishneshwar particularly unique is the rare opportunity for devotees to directly touch the Shiva Linga, creating a deeply intimate moment of prayer. Location: Ellora, near Aurangabad, Maharashtra Deity: Lord Shiva (as Grishneshwar / Ghushmeshwar) Significance: It is the 12th and last Jyotirlinga mentioned in the Shiva Purana. The name Grishneshwar means “Lord of Compassion.” Spiritual Significance • The temple holds immense importance for Shaivites — it’s considered the final stop in the Jyotirlinga pilgrimage circuit. • It is believed that visiting Grishneshwar and performing rituals here grants liberation (moksha) and removes sins. • The temple’s legend is linked to Kusuma, a devout woman who used to worship the Shiva Linga by immersing it in a pond every day. Just a short walk from the grandeur of Ellora Caves lies this sacred gem — the 12th and final Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. Grishneshwar Temple may be modest in size, but its spiritual gravity is immense. Built in the Hemadpanthi style and lovingly restored by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, every stone here feels like a prayer. 🕉️ Vibe: Serene, powerful, and deeply grounding. 🛕 Architecture: Intricate carvings, red stone elegance, and a sanctum that radiates stillness. 📿 Spiritual pull: Ideal for introverts and seekers — the energy here is quiet but transformative. 📸 Tip: Combine with a visit to Cave 16 (Kailasa Temple) for a full-circle experience of devotion and design.

As a Hindu or a devotee of Lord Shiva, visiting Shri Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga has been one of the most profound spiritual experiences of my life. The sacred, the twelfth and final Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga, nestled in the serene village of Verul near the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ellora Caves, is a divine gem in Maharashtra that radiates an aura of profound peace and spiritual completeness. Stepping into this holy abode feels like entering the heart of Lord Shiva himself. Rebuilt in the 18th century by the revered Ahilyabai Holkar, the temple’s architecture exudes timeless sanctity, a mesmerizing blend of Dravidian and South Indian styles, crafted from red basalt stone with intricate carvings that depict scenes from Hindu Kathas, the stories of gods, sages, and cosmic harmony. Every corner of this temple seems alive with the sacred presence of Mahadev and his consort, Goddess Parvati. The energy here is tangible — a comforting vibration that quiets the mind and draws the soul toward inner stillness. The five-tiered shikhara towers majestically against the sky, adorned with sculptures of gods, goddesses, and celestial beings that seem to whisper ancient tales of devotion. The energy was palpable; many fellow devotees shared stories of fulfillment and peace, describing it as a soul-stirring moment where worries dissolve in Shiva’s eternal light. It is said that a devoted woman named Ghushma prayed fervently to Shiva after her son’s tragic death, and in response, the Lord not only revived the child but manifested as the Jyotirlinga here. Performing abhishekam on the Jyotirlinga is an unforgettable experience. Pilgrims from all corners of Bharat arrive here with hearts full of hope, seeking blessings for purity, strength, and liberation. Location and history * The temple is situated in Verul village, about 30 km from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad). * It is located just 1.5 km from the famous Ellora Caves. * The temple is known by names like Ghushmeshwar Mahadev or Grushneshwar Deosthan. * The current structure was rebuilt by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century, with initial restorations by Maloji Bhosale in the 16th century. Architecture and features * The temple is built with black stone and covers an area of about 44,000 sq ft. * It features numerous sculptures and carvings on both its interior and exterior walls. * A large sculpture of Nandi, Lord Shiva's bull, is prominently placed in front of the main door. * Inside, you can find depictions of various gods, including the Dashavataras (ten incarnations of Vishnu). Visitor information * Temple Timings: The temple is generally open from 5 AM to 9 PM. * Entry Fee: Entry is free. * Dress Code: Men are requested to remove their shirts before entering the inner sanctum. * Photography: Photography is not permitted inside the temple. * Restrictions: Mobile phones are strictly prohibited. * Accessibility: The temple has wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking, restrooms, and seating. Visiting Ghrishneshwar is not merely a pilgrimage; it is a homecoming for the soul. The temple blesses one with humility, reminding us that divinity resides not in distant heavens but in the quiet devotion of the human heart. A Must place for a devotee or any spiritual seeker or Sadhak.

One of the 12 jyotirlingas of lord Shiva. Really crowded on weekends, better to visit early to have a peaceful darshan. Male devotees need to remove their upper clothes before entering the temple. The security can be improved a bit. Mobiles are allowed but videography and photography are prohibited. I recommend not to fall for locals offering to help in the darshan queue. They just take you and leave before the temple entrance which is unofficially done. Men are allowed to go in and touch the lingam but women must stay behind the barricade positioned and take the blessings and offer prayers.

I had a very devotional and peaceful experience at Shri Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. The atmosphere was filled with divine energy, and getting Sparsh Darshan before 6 AM made it even more special and spiritual. Daulatabad Fort, located near Aurangabad, Maharashtra, is a 14th-century hilltop fortress featuring concentric walls, bastions, tunnels, cannon posts, and bridges. It is renowned for its unbeatable defense in the past. The fort houses various structures such as Chand Minar, Chini Mahal, and Baradari. Climbing to the top through old staircases provides a thrilling experience.
I recently visited Daulatabad Fort near Aurangabad, and honestly, it’s one of the most impressive forts I’ve seen. The place is full of history, and the architecture is just mind-blowing. You can literally feel how powerful and strategic it must’ve been back in the day. The fort is built on a hill, so there’s quite a bit of climbing involved – lots of steps – so wear good shoes and carry water. But the view from the top is totally worth it. You get a full 360-degree view of the surrounding area. There are a lot of interesting things inside too, like old cannons, hidden passages, and a deep moat that used to have crocodiles (according to the locals). The design is really smart – it was made to confuse and trap enemies. That’s probably why it was considered nearly impossible to capture. Some parts are a bit ruined and could use better maintenance, but overall it’s still in pretty good shape. The vibe is very raw and authentic – not overly commercialized, which I liked. If you’re into history, photography, or just love exploring old forts, Daulatabad is a must-visit. Just be ready for a bit of a workout!

Daulatabad Fort, originally Devagiri Fort, is a historic fortified citadel located in Daulatabad village near Aurangabad city in Maharashtra state, India. It is a must visit for the people who are interested in history, fort architecture, artillery, art n beautiful panoramic scenes from the top. Its a quite big n vast. Keep one full day for visiting all the monuments n if u want to reach on the top of the fort. Originally built by Yadava King Bhillama V in 12th century to protect the city Devagiri, means 'Hill of the Gods', it passed through the hands of several dynasties and further developed. The fort is so strategically located that every conquerer of it was a proud owner. Sultan Muhammad bin Tughlaq changed the name of it as Daulatabad, means ‘Adobe of Wealth', in 1328 CE when he moved his capital from Delhi to here. This magnificent fort is standing on a top of a 200m high conical hill. It was one of the most powerful forts during the medieval period. The fort was defended by moat (khandak) and glacis (slopes) running around the hill at its foot besides the most complex and intricate defence system. The fortifications comprise of three encircling walls with bastions. Series of trick defence and secret escapes routes are the famous features of this fort. Jama Masjid, Bharatmata Mandir, Chand Minar, Elephant Tank and Chini Mahal (Chinese Palace) are the important monuments inside the fort.

Daulatabad Fort is also known as Devgiri Fort. It's located in Aurangabad and it is one of the major tourist attractions here. It's known popularly to he the unconquered fort. The fort has huge historical relevance and contributes to archeological studies. If you're looking for fun and adventure then this place is for you, you would not want to miss visiting this fort. The Daulatabad Fort is well maintained. While visiting this fort I heard that there are 1100 steps to climb, I'm convinced that there were more steps than that. It is a good place if you're into exploring and like a little trekking with your family, friends or even solo. The fort had 2-3 completely dark passages inside, which made it feel more adventurous climbing to the top of the fort. The view from certain points as you're climbing the fort is beautiful, you can experience the beautiful view from top as you're climbing the fort. Also, once you reach the top, it's really calm and peaceful, the view is amazing and it feels worth the climb. It's a great place for amazing photos, you can get some really great clicks. Daulatabad Fort, also called Devgiri Fort, is one of Aurangabad’s most fascinating attractions. Known for its reputation as the “unconquered fort,” it holds immense historical importance and continues to play a significant role in archaeological studies. If you enjoy a mix of adventure, exploration, and history, this fort is definitely a must-visit. Although I had heard that the climb involves around 1,100 steps, it genuinely felt like there were far more! The ascent itself is part of the fun, especially for those who love a light trek—whether you're with family, friends, or travelling solo. Along the way, the fort features a few completely dark passages that add to the thrill and make the journey even more exciting. As you climb upward, the views from different points are absolutely breathtaking. Reaching the top is incredibly rewarding—the atmosphere is calm, the surroundings feel peaceful, and the panoramic scenery is stunning. Overall, visiting Daulatabad Fort has been one of my most enjoyable experiences in Aurangabad.

An incredible historical visit! Daulatabad Fort stands on a massive hill, showcasing medieval military genius. The sheer rock-cut defenses and the famous, terrifyingly dark Andheri maze are the highlights. While the ascent is tiring, reaching the top provides stunning views and a powerful connection to India's past. Highly recommended for history buffs near Ellora.

What a peaceful place. An exhausting and a bit tricky climb but that's the whole point of this fort. The best time to visit is early in the morning so you don't have to climb in the harsh sun. It took me exactly 1 hour to make the climb to the crest of the hill where Durga Cannon is placed with two-three stops in between to catch my breath. Going beyond the dark passageway may not be really feasible if you have elders and small children in your group.

A Splashtastic Day at Wet N' Joy, Shirdi – Fun, Food, and Fantastic Service! Our visit to Wet N' Joy Water Park in Shirdi was an unforgettable experience packed with thrills, chills, and a whole lot of smiles! Right from the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warm respect by the staff. What truly stood out was their professionalism and politeness—each team member was well-trained, well-mannered, and made sure everyone felt safe and valued, regardless of age or background. That level of hospitality deserves a big thumbs-up! 👍 The park itself was spotlessly clean, which is rare for such a large and busy space. Whether it was the changing rooms, washrooms, food counters, or ride areas—everything was maintained beautifully, reflecting how much the management prioritizes hygiene and customer comfort. 🎢 Now, let’s talk rides! From the Sky Fall that gives your stomach a ticklish flip, to the fun Boomerango that throws you into a splash of joy, every ride was a rollercoaster of laughter and excitement. The Lazy River offered a calm break as we floated with the gentle current, while the Wave Pool was a total blast—especially when the waves rolled in to cheers from the crowd. The family rides, kids’ play zones, and thrilling slides like the Free Fall and Tornado ensured that everyone—from toddlers to teens to adults—had something to enjoy. 🍽️ And then came the surprise—THE FOOD! The park served both Maharashtrian and Punjabi style lunches, and both were lip-smacking. The Maharashtrian  had authentic flavor, while the Punjabi Thali tasted like they were straight out of a dhaba! But the real highlight of the brunch for me was the Wadapav and their special tea. I rarely drink tea, but the aroma was so tempting, I simply couldn’t resist—and once I took a sip, I was hooked! It was rich, fragrant, and refreshing, the kind of tea that lingers in your memory. 🛟 The safety arrangements, life jackets, and security presence added to the sense of comfort, especially for families with children. Lockers and seating areas were well-arranged, and announcements kept us informed all day. 📌 Why 4 stars instead of 5? Just a small suggestion—adding a few more shaded areas and water bottle refill points would make the experience even better on a sunny day. Apart from that, everything was fantastic. 🎉 Overall, Wet N’ Joy is more than just a water park—it’s a perfectly planned celebration of joy, cleanliness, and care. Highly recommended for families, groups, and anyone looking to beat the heat in style!

That sounds like a fun day out! Wet N Joy Water Park in Shirdi is a very popular destination, especially since it's located right near the famous Sai Baba Temple, making it a great way to cool off after a spiritual visit. But entry is ok ... exit option should be changed

If you want to go to a water park near Shirdi, then this place is for you. Recently I visited Wet'n Joy Water Park. It's a huge park with 30+ slides and many more. Firstly, you have to book your tickets, and then you can enter into the park. As it was Saturday, the prices of tickets were high. They charge more price on weekends, i.e., Saturday and Sunday. Thus, we found their offer that if we book a combined ticket for Wet'n Joy Water Park and Sai Teerth Theme Park, then we book a combined ticket for both places. I was charged approximately 1700/- per person. But the charges for dress, i.e., the custom of the waterpark, have different charges for that 200/-, and the deposit is also 100/-. They have their shop for buying costumes and other accessories. Also in the park they have a restaurant so that we can have lunch or breakfast. We are very hungry; we also paid for the meal. They charge 200/- per thali, where we have two options of thali only, i.e., Maharashtrian and Punjabi. The only difference in the thali is the sabji, where in the Maharashtrian thali, shev bhaji is included, and in the Punjabi thali, paneer sabji. Thus, after paying all the charges, firstly we move towards the restaurant to have lunch. Also, one more thing: if you have to eat lunch in the park restaurant, you book tickets from the outside counter because if we ordered in the restaurant, they took more charges for that. So take a coupon for your food from the outside counter, not from the restaurant. In the restaurant there is a self-service. The seating area is large with high chairs. We gave them our order, and within 15 minutes our meal came. Quantity is good enough for a person, but the taste of food was not as good as expected. Please, friend, if you want to eat anything, eat from an outside restaurant but not from here. I get very disappointed with this restaurant. Then we chose the waterpark costume, and it took lots of time to select a perfect costume as per your size and preference. They have many costumes, but they didn't show you the best one, so choose accordingly. Then we entered the park and enjoyed the slides one by one. There are many more slides to enjoy: wave pool, raindance, twisting slides, lazy river and whatnot. Be careful while taking rides. There are many water waterpools. I found it very disappointing, as they start the wave pool for only 30 minutes during their staff lunchtime, and after some time, it means it is continuously running; it is run sometimes and only for half an hour. After some time, there is a live dance show performed by young girls and boys. Then in the wave pool there is a photographer hired by Wet'nJoy Water Park. They took your photo, and then you can get that photo from the counter of photographs, and these photos we get are paid for; it is not for free. All the staff were helpful. I like the most lazy river. Overall, my experience was good about the park. But about the restaurant, I don't find it good.

Wet N Joy Water Park, Shirdi - A Disappointing Experienc I visited today Wet N Joy Water Park in Shirdi, and it unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. The overall experience left me feeling like the park is not worth the amount we paid for. One of the first disappointments was the additional parking fee charged from customers. For an attraction that already has a substantial entry fee, charging extra for parking seems unnecessary. It feels like a tactic to extract more money from visitors, and I’ve seen this kind of approach in other so-called entertainment places too. The complementary food offered was far from satisfactory. Additionally, the staff seemed more interested in pushing their “combo pack” offers, which did not provide any value and felt more like a tactic to upsell. It left me feeling like the park was more focused on maximizing profit than providing a quality experience to its guests. On top of this, the rental fees for swimming attire and locker facilities were surprisingly high. These additional costs made the visit feel like a constant barrage of extra charges, which is frustrating after already paying for entry. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Wet N Joy Water Park, Shirdi. There are other places where you can find better value and a more enjoyable experience. This park did not live up to its promises and was overall not worth the money.

Teerth yatra in toy train where you can get darshan of 10 pilgrim places like Siddhivinayak, Kedarnath, Meenakshi temple, jagannath Puri, Pandarpur, shirdi sai baba and many more 4. It is just perfect for family & kids where we get to know of our pilgrim places. The park is maintained as well as managed well. It is cost effective, near to sai baba temple and you can get combo ticket of both wet n joy, shirdi and Sai Teerth Theme Park at discounted price. It is a beautifully done up space. Good for a day out. However I do have some pointers to share. 1. The entry fees is pretty high and yes it includes the shows. However the visitors should also have an option to choose between a few shows and not make it compulsory to go through it all. 2. The food and snacks is BAD legit BAD definitely need to work on that. 3. Area is neat and clean and well maintained but toilets could be better. Overall a good place for a one time visit :)

Just wow .. it's one of it's kind... the technology has been used so beautifully. The Sai baba's stories look so real.. the Dwarkamai show was amazing. Coming to 5D shows... the Lanka dehan was super amazing... the Teerth yatra was absolutely breathtaking. Make sure you have around 4 hours free to visit Sai theme park and there shops around for quick bites and snacks so don't need to carry much stuff to eat. The ticket is around 7-800, you hotel might give you some discount coupons. It's must visit place, highly recommended

🌸 Shirdi Sai Baba: A Divine Beacon of Peace and Spiritual Awakening 🌸 In the sacred town of Shirdi, nestled in the heart of Maharashtra, stands a holy sanctuary — the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple — a place that transcends religion, caste, and creed. It is not just a temple made of stone and mortar; it is a living realm of divinity, compassion, and universal brotherhood. People from all walks of life, regardless of their background, are drawn here in search of peace, healing, and inner transformation. Sai Baba of Shirdi, revered as a Saint, Fakir, and Satguru, is the embodiment of love without conditions and faith without fear. His presence continues to inspire millions across the globe to lead lives rooted in truth, humility, and devotion. Baba never identified with any particular religion — he often said, "Sabka Malik Ek" — “God is One”. These simple yet profound words echo through time, reminding us that the divine resides in all beings. 🕊️ The World of Peace and Spiritual Harmony To step into the world of Sai Baba is to step into a space of deep inner stillness. His teachings were not filled with complex rituals or doctrines; rather, they focused on compassion, tolerance, patience, forgiveness, and faith. The very air of Shirdi carries a vibration of calmness and spiritual elevation, guiding the restless soul toward serenity. Baba taught us that true spirituality lies in selfless service, in helping others, in feeding the hungry, in comforting the grieving, and in uplifting the downtrodden. He saw no difference between rich and poor, Hindu and Muslim, or educated and uneducated — to him, all were children of the One Supreme Power. 🌿 Life Lessons from Sai Baba: Learning to Truly Live The timeless wisdom of Sai Baba is a guide to navigating the challenges of modern life with grace and dignity. Here are some of the most cherished lessons we can draw from his life: Shraddha (Faith) and Saburi (Patience): Baba constantly emphasized these two pillars. Have unshakeable faith in the Divine, and wait with patience; everything unfolds in its time. Love All, Serve All: He urged people to rise above ego and hatred and instead, serve humanity with love. Service to others is service to God. Forgive and Let Go: Holding on to anger or revenge only poisons the soul. Sai Baba often forgave even those who wronged him — a true lesson in humility and spiritual strength. Equality and Unity: Baba broke down all social and religious barriers. His very life was a message that we are all one, united under one Divine light. Contentment and Simplicity: He lived a humble life, teaching us to find joy not in material wealth, but in gratitude, simplicity, and inner contentment. --- 🙏 A Personal Journey with Baba For many devotees, Baba is more than a saint — he is a companion, guide, healer, and divine protector. Whether you're facing illness, emotional turmoil, or spiritual confusion, turning to Baba with a sincere heart brings light into the darkest moments. His presence is not bound by time or space. You may feel it in the stillness of a prayer, the kindness of a stranger, or the silent answers that come in meditation. Baba listens to every heart that calls him, and his grace flows silently yet powerfully. --- 🛕 In Closing: A Temple in the Heart While the Shirdi temple is a sacred pilgrimage for millions, the true temple of Baba is the human heart. When we live by his teachings — of love, service, and truth — we carry his spirit with us wherever we go. In doing so, we become channels of the very peace and light that Sai Baba offered to the world. May Sai Baba bless you and your loved ones with health, harmony, guidance, and unwavering faith. May his light shine on your path and lead you to the divine peace that resides within. 🕉️ Om Sai Ram! 🕉️

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple is a peaceful and divine place to visit. Near Gate 6, you’ll find mobile lockers available for just Rs 5 per phone, along with free shoe stands. For free darshan, head to Gate 7, which you can reach from Dwarkamai Temple, if Dwarkamai is in front of you, go left and take the first right. You’ll pass the mobile lockers first, and then Gate 7 is right there. On weekends, the wait time for free darshan is usually around 3 hours, and the entire process can take 3-4 hours. We also visited once on a Monday morning around 6 AM, and it only took about 1.5 to 2 hours for the complete Darshan. If you prefer paid darshan, you can either book online in advance or book near temple, enter through Gate 6 when you arrive. Wait time is much lesser than free Darshan but it'll still take almost 2 if crowded. Inside the temple, there is usually some waiting time before darshan, so visitors are asked to sit in waiting halls. Opposite these halls, there’s a counter where you can get free unlimited tea and biscuits. They also sell chips and water at prices much lower than market rate. After darshan, don’t forget to pick up your free food coupons next to the neem tree. Near the exit, you will also receive packets of prasad and vibhooti. Additionally, there’s a laddu counter near the lendi garden entry, opposite the neem tree, where you can get the famous Shirdi laddu.

Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust in Shirdi is a major Hindu pilgrimage site that manages daily activities, accommodations, and meals for pilgrims. The temple, covering 200 square meters, is a central attraction in Shirdi and draws pilgrims from around the world. It offers accommodation for visitors and is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., with special overnight openings on occasions like Guru Purnima and Rama Navami.
My trip to Shirdi was a truly memorable experience. The atmosphere around the temple was electric, buzzing with a mix of excitement and devotion. Even though there were huge crowds, the temple authorities did a great job of keeping things organized, so the long queues moved surprisingly smoothly. The moment I stepped inside the main shrine, I felt a wave of peace wash over me. It's hard to describe, but there's definitely a special energy there. The whole complex was incredibly clean, which was impressive considering the sheer number of people. Getting to Shirdi was easy enough, with plenty of transport options available. One thing I'd recommend is to be prepared for the crowds, especially if you're going during a festival. Also, remember to dress respectfully and be aware of your belongings. While there were a few vendors trying to sell things outside, most people were genuinely there for the spiritual experience. Overall, my visit to Shirdi was a powerful and moving one, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking a spiritual journey.

🌸 A Soulful Pilgrimage to Shirdi – The Abode of Sai Baba 🌸 Our visit to Shirdi was a truly divine and heart-touching experience. The moment we entered the Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir, we felt an overwhelming sense of peace, faith, and devotion. Shirdi is not just a place — it’s the sacred land where Shirdi Sai Baba, the revered saint known for his simplicity, kindness, and teachings of love and humanity, spent most of his life serving people selflessly. His life was devoted to spreading the message of faith (Shraddha) and patience (Saburi), embracing people from all walks of life regardless of religion or background. The Samadhi Mandir is where the mortal remains of Sai Baba rest, and the aura around it is incredibly serene and calming. The temple premises are clean, well-organized, and beautifully maintained, making the entire darshan experience smooth and fulfilling. The sight of devotees praying in silence, the fragrance of flowers and incense, and the soulful aartis create an atmosphere filled with devotion and positivity. A truly special part of the visit is receiving Sai Baba’s Udi (holy ash) after darshan. Baba himself used to distribute Udi to devotees as a symbol of blessings, protection, and healing. Even today, devotees believe that Baba’s Udi brings peace, good health, and spiritual strength, making it one of the most cherished offerings from Shirdi. Walking through the temple grounds, one can also see places associated with Sai Baba’s simple lifestyle — spots that reflect his humility, compassion, and the way he lived close to nature and served humanity. Our darshan at the Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir was truly special and left us with a deep sense of gratitude, peace, and renewed faith. A visit to Shirdi is not just a journey but a spiritual experience that stays in your heart forever. ✨ Review by @the_solo_wanderer_ For more soulful journeys and untold stories, search me on Instagram 🌿📸

Planning your visit will help in many ways for Sai Baba darshan. Off day one can avoid rush. You can buy online tkts for darshan and it works great. There will still be good walk inside however, better than standing in a long queue. There is seperate line for senior citizen so if you have elderly please use that. It is better to get your tkt for paid darshan printed. The entrance unlike any other temples is well maintained and not overly crowded. The parking, mobile phone and footwear is all taken care at the place. Please note mobile phones are not allowed and have to be kept in lockers or just keep in the car. The staff is helpful and guide you around. The inside of the temple is par or even better than any other place in foreign country. Museum is nice and must see. There are other temples shiva ling, Ganesha when you exit towards gate 3. The entire place is well maintained. I was thrilled to see that in India we have such place to visit specially worship place like this one for Sainath.

I am a serving person coming for Darshan all the way from punjab. Honest review is the place is sarine, however, the shop attatched in pic is a fraud or may be one of the frauds who will trick you to park vehicle in front of his shop in exchange of buying a puja thali in which only the Phool mala is allowed in and the devotee realises he gas been hoodwinked once he passes tgrough the security check in. The pile of such items at the gate assured that I am not the only one fallen for the trap. I can only suggest and request to buoycot such shops. For reference, this one is in the road just opposite to the senior citizen gate.

Once a prison for Indian independence leaders in the 1940s under British rule, it has witnessed countless invasions throughout its storied past.
One of the oldest forts in India. It has Nizam Shahi architecture and was the headquarters of the Ahmednagar Sultanate.
CYBER F — Google review
Only a certain portion of the fort is open to public.. army area.. parking available within the fort .. not maintained properly.. no tickets.. free entry.. 1. Foundation and Architectural Style: The fort was constructed around 1559 CE during the reign of Malik Ahmad Nizam Shah. Its architecture is a blend of medieval Indian military fortifications, with high walls, bastions, and a surrounding moat. It was designed to serve as a military stronghold and withstand sieges. The circular design with 24 bastions makes it one of the most formidable forts of its time. 2. Role in the Deccan Sultanates: Ahmednagar Fort was the seat of power for the Nizam Shahi dynasty of the Deccan region. It was central to their control over the Deccan Plateau and saw numerous battles during the wars between the Sultanates of Bijapur, Golconda, and the Mughal Empire. 3. Conflict with the Mughals: In 1600, the fort became the site of intense conflict when the Mughal Emperor Akbar laid siege to it. Chand Bibi, the queen regent of Ahmednagar, famously defended the fort against Akbar’s forces. However, the fort eventually fell to the Mughals, marking the decline of the Nizam Shahi dynasty. Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor, also used Ahmednagar Fort during his campaigns to subdue the Marathas. 4. Role during British Rule: The fort gained renewed significance during the British colonial period. It was used as a prison by the British to detain several Indian freedom fighters during the independence movement. Most notably, Jawaharlal Nehru, along with other leaders of the Indian National Congress, was imprisoned in Ahmednagar Fort in 1942 during the Quit India Movement. Nehru wrote his famous book, "The Discovery of India," while incarcerated here

Good things about the place: - serene, calm - not crowded - easy to reach - battle tank museum on the way - place to take wonderful photos - interesting architecture not so good: - students and ppl making reels all the time - the place doesn't give a good vibe - but it's historical

One of the oldest first in India but still in good condition as maintained by Indian Army. One can They allow to visit outer wall of the fort only and museum is open in special occasion like 15th August, 26th January. The fort is in circular shape and one can walk the entire outer wall on the walkway made on the top of the wall.

The Ahmednagar fort is a small fort occupied by military. Military allows visit of fort free. The structures inside fort are in dilapidated condition in absence of maintenance. The wall of fort is strong and one can walk on the wall of fort. It takes maximum one hour to complete tour of fort
Ravi S — Google review
The fort was built during A.D. 1553 to A.D. 1565. The fort has 24 bastions, one large gate and some other gates. The fort has seen many handovers of powers from Nizams to Mughals to Peshwa and to British emperors finally coming under regulation of India post independence. This is very strong fort on ground and was difficult to conquer in the history. It is quite large and some area can be seen by general public as rest of the area is army camp. During Aug 1942 to April 1945, Indian political leaders were kept as interns of this fort which was converted to British jail that time.. View from fort wall is very nice. Feel very proud to see big tricolor flag on the wall ! You can go to tank museum which is nearby (approx 3 km from fort)

This is over 500 years old fort. It's now open to see it , just that we need to keep our id card at the entrance and need to pick it up once you are done. Octagonal Palace is a nice architectural monument. Leaders block is a place where many of the freedom fighters were prisoned from 1942- 1945. Our first prime minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru wrote his famous book Discovery of India in this prison. They have many self explanatory boards. One can walk on the walls of the fort. It's nice panoramic view. Very quite place.

Nighoj is a tiny village between the Kukadi and Ghod rivers, about 90km from Pune. We had read about the naturally made ‘potholes’ in the small gorges of the river Kukadi, called Nighoj Kund. Just ask anyone for directions to the Nighoj Kund, and they will be able to point.

It is nice temple of Malganga Devi situated close to Nighoj potholes point. It is approx. 80kms from Pune and Road conditions are Ok. You can enjoy snacks and juices. Ambience is good and you can spent couple of hours here. Nearby natural potholes are main point of attractions. You can enjoy the natural beauty through hanging bridge. Lenyadri Caves

Buddhist temple
Site with 30+ ancient rock-cut Buddhist caves, including one that's now a popular temple to Ganesh.
The view is awesome, around 300 steps hardly takes half hour to climb up. Blissful view from the top. Temple is clean and well maintained.
Deepak G — Google review
Lenyadri Caves is a well known UNESCO-listed world heritage site located near Junnar in Maharashtra, India, known for Buddhist caves dating from the 1st to 3rd century AD. The site consists of about 30 caves carved into a hilltop, with Cave 7 being especially famous for housing the deity Lord Ganesha, making it part of the Ashtavinayak pilgrimage circuit. A walk around 300 step to reach on top. Most scenic place. The experience is described as both spiritually uplifting and historically enriching, blending ancient heritage with natural beauty. Overall, the Lenyadri Caves are highly regarded for their religious significance, archaeological value, and scenic environment, making them a must-visit destination.

I visited Lenyadri Caves and the famous Girijatmaj Ganpati Temple with my family, and it was an unforgettable experience! The climb of around 300 stairs was a fun challenge, rewarded by panoramic views and refreshing natural beauty. The caves are a fascinating glimpse into ancient history, and the temple carved from a single rock is truly unique and spiritual. The temple area was clean and well maintained, and the peaceful atmosphere made the visit even more special. Locals were helpful, and plenty of small shops at the base made the trip convenient. Seniors can opt for palki service for ease, and I highly recommend visiting in the morning to avoid heat and crowds.

Lenyadri Caves are a beautiful mix of history, spirituality, and scenic views. Located near Junnar, around 95 km from Pune, this ancient rock-cut cave complex dates back to the 1st–3rd century CE. The main attraction is Cave 7, which houses the Girijatmaj Ganesha temple — one of the sacred Ashtavinayak shrines. A climb of around 300 steps takes you to the top, offering panoramic views of the valley. It's a peaceful place, perfect for a day trip from Pune. Highlights: Around 30 rock-cut caves carved into a hill. Cave 7 is a Ganesha temple and part of the Ashtavinayak circuit. Peaceful environment with historic Buddhist influences. Scenic views after a short but steep climb (~300 steps). Nearby places: Shivneri Fort and Ozar Ganpati temple. How to reach from Pune: By car/bike: ~2.5 to 3 hours via NH60 → Narayangaon → Junnar → Lenyadri. By bus: MSRTC buses to Junnar, then auto/rickshaw to the caves. Parking and small shops available at the base.

Straight Upward climbing , Need 30 min to climbing, Entry fees 25/- pr person. No proper maintenance by archaeological survey of India , Some of the caves are not accessible due to improper entrance. Buddhist Caves but Encroachment is done by Hindus, in one cave a wall sculpture painted with orange colour sendoor and started worshiping an a prist is there to do so.

An awesome Ganpati temple located within caves, featuring amazing architecture. Situated high on a hill, it offers a palkhi service for those who are unable to climb the steps, although they charge ₹1500 per person and are firm on the pricing. In addition to the Ganpati idol, there are chambers within the caves that house a Shivling. A stupa is also present, reflecting elements of Buddhist architecture. The closing time of temple is 6:30 p.m.

Shree Mahaganapati Ganapati Temple, Ranjangaon (Ashtavinayak Kshetra)

Shree Mahaganapati Ranjangaon, one of the revered Ashtavinayak temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, is a must-visit destination for devotees and travelers alike. Nestled in the serene village of Ranjangaon, approximately 50 km from Pune, this ancient temple boasts a rich history linked to Lord Shiva's invocation of Ganesha before vanquishing the demon Tripurasura.
I have visited this temple twice, and both times, it was a wonderful and spiritual experience. The temple has a peaceful and divine atmosphere, making it a must-visit for devotees of Lord Ganesha. The architecture is beautiful, and the temple premises are well-maintained. However, one thing that I did not like was the VIP darshan system. People who pay ₹100 per person get quick access, while others have to wait in long queues for 1-2 hours, and even longer (2-3 hours) on weekends. This makes it difficult for common devotees who visit with faith and devotion. Apart from that, the overall experience was great. The temple attracts a huge crowd, which shows its significance. If you plan to visit, try going on a weekday to avoid long waiting times.

🙏 Shree Mahaganapati Temple, Ranjangaon (Ashtavinayak Kshetra) श्री महागणपती मंदिर, रांजणगाव I recently had the divine opportunity to visit Shree Mahaganapati Temple at Ranjangaon – one of the eight revered Ashtavinayak temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva worshipped Ganesha before fighting the demon Tripurasura. The idol here is known as Mahaganapati, a powerful and majestic form of Ganesh with 10 trunks and 20 arms (though the original idol is kept hidden in the sanctum and shown only on special occasions). The temple architecture is stunning – a beautiful blend of peace, spirituality, and historic charm. The calmness and spiritual aura of the place are truly mesmerizing. It is well maintained and organized for devotees, even during weekends and holidays. The temple complex is clean, with ample space for parking, and basic amenities like toilets and drinking water. There are shops outside selling prasad, flowers, and souvenirs. I recommend reaching early in the morning or during the evening aarti time to avoid rush and experience the serene atmosphere. The drive from Pune is smooth and scenic (approx. 50 km), making it a perfect spiritual getaway. This temple is often visited as part of the full Ashtavinayak Yatra, but even if you’re visiting individually, it leaves you with a sense of divine satisfaction. 🌟 Tips for Devotees: Mobile phones and cameras are allowed, but photography inside the sanctum is restricted. Wear comfortable footwear (to be removed before entering the temple). Try the local Maharashtrian food in the nearby stalls. 🙏 A must-visit spiritual destination that combines devotion, history, and tranquility. Truly blessed to have experienced the divine presence of Mahaganapati Bappa! गणपती बाप्पा मोरया! 🙏

It’s a famous one of the Ashta-Vinayaka (Among 8 Main Ganapati Mandir) situated at Ranjangoan. The Mandir is small but the surrounding area is specious. Lots of small temples are situated inside the Mandir itself. The Entrance is amazing. There is no rush during weekdays. But lots of waiting during weekends and Sankashti.
Pratiksha D — Google review
A highly revered temple of Ganesh. It is one of the ashtavinayak temples. It is right on main road and quite crowded. There are lot of puja item shops on way to temple. Parking space is available but due to large crowd it is usually occupied. In Temple just before entering garbhagrih there is a large gold plate which has Ganapati Atharvashirsh engraved on it.
Vishal S — Google review
It was an amazing experience. It is easily accessible as it is just along the highway which makes it convenient to reach. The only downside is the huge line just for hardly 1 min of darshan which is a problem for almost all the temples so can't complain about it. The atmosphere is good, you can also sit for hours in the garden area as it is peaceful and calm.

One of the Ashtavinayak and nearer to Pune ... takes around 1hr drive from Wagholi. Darshan takes around an hour Max but it's worth it. Good arrangement by the temple trust. Good crowd management. Security. Food options available there are kinda limited but that's okay. Ganapati Bappa Morya

We recently visited Mayureshwar Ganpati Mandir at Morgaon, and honestly, it was such a peaceful and divine experience. We reached early in the morning around 5:30 AM, so luckily there was no waiting at all - we got direct darshan without any crowd. The atmosphere at that time was so calm - the sound of bells, a gentle breeze, and that early morning silence just made everything feel so spiritual. The temple is clean and beautifully maintained, and the Ganpati idol looks truly divine. There are a few shops outside for prasad & flowers but they were closed since we reached very early in the morning ... Parking space is also available, and tea stalls were open at that time, early in the morning.... If you're planning to visit, I'd definitely suggest going early morning for a peaceful and fulfilling darshan. Truly a beautiful and soul-soothing experience! 🙏✨

One off the Ganapati temple from Shree Ashtavinayak. Its based in Morgaon, the temple has great history. Temple is built in ancient times but is still in great condition, many pilgrims visit here daily. Lot of shops nearby temple. Its well maintained.
Atul G — Google review
Significance: First and most important temple in the Ashtavinayak circuit. It is believed that pilgrimage should start and end here Architecture & Ambience The temple is built in black stone with a distinctive Nagarkhana (music gallery) at the entrance. Surrounded by four gates in the shape of a peacock (hence the name Mayureshwar). The main sanctum is calm, with the idol facing north, which is rare in Ganpati temples. The idol is considered Swayambhu (self-manifested), adorned with a Nag (serpent) and a diamond in the navel. Experience Spiritual Vibe: Very serene and deeply devotional atmosphere. Crowd: Moderate on weekdays, heavy during weekends and Ganesh Chaturthi. Darshan Time: Quick on normal days (10-15 minutes), but expect queues during festivals. Cleanliness: Overall good, maintained by the trust. Facilities Parking: Available near the temple. Food: Small eateries and prasad shops nearby. Stay: Few basic lodging options around; Pune city (~65 km) has better choices. Shops: Plenty of pooja and prasad shops at the entrance. Best Time to Visit Early morning for peaceful darshan. Avoid peak festivals if you prefer less crowd.

Shree Chintamani Vinayaka Temple Theur

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Hindu pilgrimage & festival site dedicated to Ganesh, with shrines, a fountain & a huge orange bell.
Chintamani Temple in Theur is one of the eight famous Ashtavinayak temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It’s a peaceful and spiritual place, and since it’s very close to Pune, it’s a good starting point if you want to visit all Ashtavinayak temples. I went in the afternoon during a festival, so there was a big crowd. But the temple is built in such a way that it can handle many people at once. There’s a big board before the entrance where you can park your vehicle. I went on a bike, and parking was free—can’t say for cars though. Once you enter the gate, there’s a shoe stand on the left where you can leave your footwear. You can also wear slippers inside the temple area. Prasad and pooja items are available at stalls outside the temple. After visiting the temple, don’t forget to try the special Theur laddu from a small stall just outside the exit. It’s quite famous and tasty. But keep cash with you—they don’t accept online payments. Right next to it, there’s a food section where you can have a prasad meal for just ₹50. It includes chapati, dal, rice, a vegetable, and a sweet. Simple, clean, and very tasty. One thing to remember—there is no proper drinking water available inside, so carry your own water bottle. If you want to avoid crowds, early morning or evening is the best time to visit. Overall, it’s a beautiful temple with a calm vibe. A must-visit if you're planning a spiritual trip near Pune.

Had the blessing of visiting Shri Chintamani Vinayaka Temple at Theur ,one of the sacred Ashtavinayak temples. The moment you step inside, the chants and calmness wrap around you. The wooden sabha-mandap and historic Peshwa vibes make it feel timeless. Darshan was peaceful, and the prasad pedha was as divine as the experience itself. 🙏✨ Tips for Future Visitors Best time: Early morning (before 9 AM) on weekdays for a quieter darshan. Parking: Ample space nearby, but fills fast on weekends and festivals. Prasad: Try the pedha sold inside , fresh and worth it. Footwear: Dedicated storage near the entrance, carry a bag if you prefer keeping your own.

The temple radiates immense peace and positivity, making it a must-visit for every devotee. 🙏 The idol of Lord Ganesha (Chintamani Vinayaka) is truly divine and full of energy. The peaceful environment, soothing chants, and the temple’s historic Peshwa-era wooden architecture make it a spiritually uplifting experience. You immediately feel calm and blessed as you step inside. 🕉 Location & How to Reach: 📍 Distance from Pune City: ~25 km 🚉 Pune Railway Station: ~22 km 🚌 Nearest Bus Stop: Theur Gaon Stop (walkable distance) ✈️ Pune International Airport (Lohegaon): ~21 km away 🚗 The temple is well connected by road — you can reach by private car, cab, or two-wheeler. Regular PMPML buses also run from Pune to Theur. 🌿 About the Temple: The temple premises are clean and well-maintained, with facilities for parking, prasad, and refreshments nearby. A small bhojanalay just outside offers simple, tasty prasad meals at very reasonable prices, making it a pleasant stop for devotees. The best time to visit is early morning or during evening aarti for a more serene experience and to avoid crowds, especially during festivals. Don’t miss the famous Theur laddus sold just outside — simple, fresh, and delicious! 🚧 Note: The area immediately outside the temple has become crowded with modern construction and buildings, which block the temple’s original open view and historical charm. It would be wonderful if the surroundings could be preserved in a more traditional way to reflect its true heritage. 💫 Overall, Shree Chintamani Vinayaka Temple at Theur is a beautiful blend of devotion, serenity, and history. A visit here fills your heart with peace and divine blessings — truly a must-visit destination for spiritual seekers and devotees of Lord Ganesha. 🌺

It's the plantation season now so there's no strawberrys for us to pick or see planted. 5 stars as this is the best spot and visit here often. The owner said the farm will be up by next 2 months

A must visit! Truly an amazing experience plucking strawberries. We also got a chance to pluck various vegetables. The farm has various vegetables and fruits along with strawberries. The cost is reasonable. All fruits and vegetables are fresh. Owner and his family are very down to earth and helpful. They are very welcoming. We enjoyed every minute we spent in the farm.

I recently visited Laxmi Strawberry Farm and it was a fantastic experience. The farm was well-maintained and the rows of ripe strawberries were abundant. I was able to pick my own strawberries, which was a fun and interactive activity. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, providing information about the growing process and tips for picking the best berries. I also had the opportunity to try some of their homemade strawberry products, which were delicious. I highly recommend a visit to this farm for a fun and educational experience, not to mention the fresh and juicy strawberries.
