Curtea de Argeș Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
The Curtea de Argeș Monastery is a 16th-century Romanian Orthodox cathedral dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God. It holds numerous early icons, religious artworks, and crypts. The monastery was once the first capital of Wallachia and features essential Byzantine edifices, including the Royal Church, a 14th-century UNESCO-listed monument.
A beautiful monastery and church in the center of a peaceful park. The church exterior and some of the interior is undergoing renovations but the part you can view is stunning. This is also where the Royal family of Romania is buried.
Happy O — Google review
Amazing medieval Orthodox Church. Mesmerising architecture and wonderful believing loving people . One of many Romania's gems. The Rating place of devoted kings and queens.
Zarko M — Google review
It's an unforgettable experience to visit this monastery, unique in its own right and steeped in a remarkable folk legend. The presence of royal tombs there also gives the place immense significance.
Nicolae N — Google review
Curtea de Arges Monastery is one of Romania’s most iconic and historically significant monasteries. The monastery was commissioned by Neagoe Basarab, Voivode of Wallachia, and built between 1512 and 1517. Neagoe wanted a church unlike any other, combining architectural elegance, Byzantine inspiration, and local craftsmanship. The monastery quickly became a center of spiritual and cultural life in Wallachia. One of the most famous stories associated with the monastery is the legend of Mesterul Manole, the master builder. According to the legend, Manole and his team could not complete the monastery’s roof, and a supernatural force kept causing it to collapse. A voice instructed him that the walls would only stand if he sacrificed his wife by immuring her in the structure. After reluctantly following this, the construction succeeded. The legend continues that after finishing the monastery, Manole tried to escape by jumping off the roof using wings he had made, but he tragically fell to his death. This story is celebrated in Romanian folklore and poetry as a symbol of sacrifice and devotion. Inside, the monastery holds the tombs of its founders, Neagoe Basarab and his wife, along with their daughter. Later, it became the burial place for Romanian royalty, including King Carol I, Queen Elisabeth, King Ferdinand, Queen Marie, and the last monarchs, King Mihai I and Queen Ana. Architecturally, the church is known for its intricate stone carvings, Byzantine-style frescoes, and a legendary church roof that inspired stories and poems. The combination of legend, history, and art makes it a unique cultural and religious monument. Unfortunately, when I visited, the monastery was closed as it is currently undergoing renovation, but it remains a must-see if you are in the area — both for its historical significance and the fascinating legends that surround it.
Stefan — Google review
Beautiful monastery that holds 4 royal graves. The paintings on walls are divine. I was lucky enough to attend the Sunday service. Area has ample of parking as well as toilet on site charging 1 lei which is fair charge. Toilets are very clean and tidy.
Gersina C — Google review
The exterior was under renovation when I visited, but it is still absolutely stunning! Peaceful and beautiful inside, it houses the beautiful grave ledger stones of King Carol I and Elisabeth as well as an exquisite book of writings of Elisabeth.
Tammy H — Google review
The church is currently undergoing complete renovation, so a visit is not really recommended at the moment, but there is a beautiful park around it and also outbuildings that are nice to look at.
Olivier R — Google review
Is a nice monastery to visit considering it is a 500+ years old building. The legend of Manole and Ana also makes it different to other churches and worship places, not to forget that 2 of the 4 Romanian kings are buried there. A 30-60minutes stop for a piece of Romanian history and culture sure make it worth. And a prayer to God Almighty would sure make it more meaningful.

Pitesti Prison Memorial

Museum
History Museums
The Pitesti Prison Memorial stands as a poignant reminder of Romania's tumultuous past, offering visitors a deep dive into the country's history. This site is not just an ordinary museum; it encapsulates the harrowing experiences endured by many during darker times. While some informational signs are in Romanian, English-speaking guests can easily navigate their visit with available audio guides or guided tours for a nominal fee. The entry to this powerful memorial is free, encouraging donations to support its upkeep.
Extremely well done. Shocking. It showed all the terrible aspects of the communist penitentiary whilst staying respectful and educative. The guide was wonderful and explained everything extrememely well. A must see as a lesson for history to make sure we never repeat such horrendous times.
DIANA C — Google review
Historical place, must visit place in Pitesti, very good experience. Entry is 20 RON, which is a bit expensive. Rest rooms & parking facilities are available. Well maintained, few rooms are closed.
Partha S — Google review
One must never forget the lessons of history or we are doomed of repeating it. The communism was an oppressive system. This memorial… just to walk into the rooms and coridors where 24/7 screams of agony and torture were heard. Watching the portrait photos and seeing countless testimonials of pain and suffering we must thankfull we have freedom. Only we lose it we know the pain of not having it.
Razvan-George D — Google review
The memorial gives a small impression of the terrible time when the Soviet Union deprived prisoners of their dignity and humanity through cruel experiments. The exhibition aimed at children is very nice. I recommend a visit to this site to anyone who is interested.
Roberto M — Google review
Powerful place. A huge history lesson is hidden behind these walls, offering an insight into Romanian history and forgotten happenings. The entry is free of charge (although I would highly advise to charge a fee or provide entry based on a donation). At the moment, you only pay if you wish to attend a guided tour, otherwise you can visit based on an audio guide on your phone and in your own pace. Friendly and helpful staff.
Simina S — Google review
One of the best museums I have ever visited! Really well thought out with a fantastic audio guide; making good use of personal stories. Staff so helpful, giving up a lot of time to explain. Well worth a visit
Ryan H — Google review
I had read many books about and referencing this place before getting here. Only a part of the old building can be visited, the rest is a private company. The museum also works as a private company, which is admirable, but makes it hard to sustain themselves. There are boards in each room and the track takes you through the horrors of those times, with context and follow up. As a society, it is essential to have such memorials to help us learn, understand and remember so that we can consciously decide how we want our life to be.
SVC — Google review
A very pleasant experience. The guided tours are with professionals who can answer questions in detail. Congratulations to the owners for the initiative to transform the building into a museum!

Mall VIVO!

Shopping mall
Shopping
Upbeat retail complex with brand-name stores & fast-food restaurants, plus a cinema, on 2 floors.
This used to be called Euromall (or more recently Pitești Mall) If you look closely at the back of the mall, you will see some blue triangular-like pillars, which belong to the original Euromall arhitecture which had the orange-blue color scheme. Anyway, the original owners sold the mall to Immofinanz and they changed it to VIVO!, a store chain. It is not like before, less (but not few) visitors, and manages to stay alive, despite of its more recent competition (Argeș Mall). It is located close to the highway, with nice stores, which attracts visitors. The view is really nice, with both the city and the river. I definitely recommend going here especially if you're going on the highway. What will happen to this mall, only time will tell.
Andrew — Google review
The ambiance and service were decent, but be cautious when ordering burgers. I asked for medium, and it came out well-done. If you're particular about how your burger is cooked, make sure to stress your preference when ordering. But be ready this might not help either :(
Pavel D — Google review
While in Pitești I had some time to spend and came to this mall. Not as big as some malls in Bucharest but it definitely has everything you would look for in a mall. Good place to spend some time and very clean!
Ionut R — Google review
The Mall is quite big but it lacks variaty as it doesn't really have that many stores or food options

Very nice. Must visit if you are in Pitești

Chindia Tower

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Visitors to this restored 15th-century military fort can climb the tower's 122 steps for city views.
The complex is truly amazing! There is some more work to do, but the quiet vibes, the view from the tower on the top, the paintings inside the church, the walk on the bridge along the architecture, and the small museum are an awe! People who like history and Gothic things should totally give this place a try. It takes 20 lei for the entrance fee (adult), and you get to climb up to the tower to appreciate the work during Dracula's reign. 😀
NANA D — Google review
Very nice tower, A long staircase
Benny H — Google review
The very essence of an emblem of Targoviste, it does have a very fascinating view of the town, maybe one of the best. It is worth to visit it at least once 😁👍

Great place with an amazing view from the top of you can pass the tricky stairs 😃 Recommend!
Lora S — Google review
If you have not been, you need not be told. GO. This place has hundreds of years of history. There is a lot to see and a lot to learn. The top of the tower view is priceless. The caves are amazing, and very cold. The ruins are super interesting. Visit on of Dracula's homes. How many can say they've seen it? The entrance see if 15RON, not too expensive for how much history this place holds. Take the kids too.
Albert B — Google review
We passed by Târgoviște and the Tower on the way back home from Bucharest on Monday. It was supposed to be closed, but parking was readily available and free on the street, so we gave it a shot and surprisingly it was open. Tickets were 15RON per person, and we spent about an hour there. The tower was in great condition, and there was a little museum with written works from 100s of years ago that showcased the evolution of the Romanian language. Bathrooms were super clean too. Nice quiet historical place. Cheap tickets, easy parking. Great place to visit during a road trip break.
Diana T — Google review
By far the most interesting object for visitors inside the Royal complex. The name of the tower in translation means "Sunset tower". This imposing structure was built during the time of Vlad Dracul, the father of the famous Vlad Tepes, also known as Dracula(thanks to the famous Bram Soker novel). The function of the tower evolved from that of a bell tower in the beginning of 15th century, to that of a watchtower, refuge and defence tower during the 15th-16th centuries and the to that of a clock tower in the 17th century.
Явор К — Google review
The tower itself looks really good as it has been renovated, even though it’s not that tall you can see the whole city from it’s top. The park surrounding it is really beautiful. If you have small children you can take them to the city’s zoo which is a 5 minute walk from the tower.

The Royal Court of Târgoviște

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Architectural Buildings
Historic Sites
Churches & Cathedrals
A blanket of white snow transformed the castle into a winter wonderland. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, the frosted towers and snowy walkways were like something from a fairytale. It was the kind of day made for lasting memories.
Benny H — Google review
The grounds are nice, and the tower at the end has a good view of the city. The main part of the court is largely in ruins, and not as impressive as the accompanying buildings, especially the larger of the two churches, as well as the tower. But the grounds are worth a visit, if you're into historical places.
Kevin B — Google review
A must-see historical site in Romania! The Royal Court of Târgoviște is full of fascinating medieval charm, with well-preserved ruins, the iconic Chindia Tower, and a peaceful atmosphere that transports you back in time. The site is rich in history — once the residence of Vlad the Impaler — and there are informative signs in both Romanian and English that provide great context. The views from the top of the tower are stunning, especially at sunset. It’s not overly crowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for history buffs or anyone wanting a quiet and beautiful stroll through the past.
Chhandesh N — Google review
Absolute fantastic site to see as we drove towards Bucharest at Tangoviste 20 l entry adults 10 l pensioner Many parts to the site which were impressive Magnificent 360 degrees view from the tower overlooking the town Small museum several churches one we could not enter and some ruins with a lower level
David H — Google review
If by any chance you are passing by Targoviste, don't hesitate a minute to visit the Royal Court. Once you are in, there's plenty of places to roam around freely - garden, ruins, museum of printing, the tower, church etc. There's a souvenir store if you feel an urge to buy some mementos and a coffee stop in case you need a power up. Make sure to arrive in the morning to avoid crowds. If you're coming by car, you can park it right on the street.
Tomasz X — Google review
Nice place with historical interest. Mainly ruins so don’t expect something like City of Carcassonne. Don’t forget to visit the small Typography and Romanian Book Museum. Disappointed that the Chiajna Tower was closed. Need to come back :)
Jean-Noël S — Google review
It's a beautiful fort/castle to visit if you're close to this particular city. A lot of history.

The ancient capital of Transylvania, the ruins of a palace, a church, and a tower are its symbols. There used to be a direct route from the palace to the church, but it no longer exists.

Brancoveanu's Palace

Museum
History Museums
A must see architectural and historic attraction in the countryside of Dâmbovița region, easily accessible through the A1 highway + 5 more km on county roads or, alternatively, just traveling on winding county roads in agricultural farmlands, coming from DN7/DN71 Bucharest - Târgoviste old route (of course, from the experience point of view, this latter option is advisable). The castle and its compounds are in very good condition (being fully restored and largely not authentic, as the originals have been lost to Otoman aggression), but the workmanship of the restaurateurs kept the looks and feels of the buildings as per original.
Radu N — Google review
Very nice place to spend a few hours for a weekend day trip
Jean D — Google review
Nice. I enjoyed my wander around. I arrived at the same time as a group of Romanian school children. About 10/15 of them. Teenagers. We got talked around the site in Romanian, which I don't understand. A lot of the displays are in English. It's worth a visit
Michael T — Google review
A realy beautifull place, I would call it even a hidden pearl. When paying for the tickets you also get a free guide(10 lei adult, 5 lei students). I got a tall guy as a guide which was patient and willing to answer any question, the.other guides(female) were very inauspicious.
D S — Google review
A very nice place to visit. The guide is very knowledgeable and it is inducting you in the old history of the place with a lot of stories. I was impressed by the architecture and the interior details of the walls. If you want an escapade in the weekend, for sure it is a place to consider. Entrance is cheap and the place is well preserved.
Laura G — Google review
Very nice place, with a very rich history. I reccomend taking the guided tour in order to find out about it. Too bad thou that the state doesn't care for theese hidden treasures as the place has a lot of unexploited potential.
Catalin B — Google review
A beatiful palace from the late 1600s full of history. I was impressed by the restoration work, really well done. The entry fee is quite cheap, 10lei/pers and the schedule is 9am to 13Pm. 13-14PM - 1h break for cleaning. 14-17:30pm last visitor
Andrei C — Google review
Located 45 minutes from Bucharest, this palace is a must-stop if you travel west to Pitesti or the town of Targoviste. It is representative of the XVII century Romanian Brancovenesc architecture style. Only a few years ago the place was a total ruin. I believe that this place will become a 5 stars site after the finalization of the restoration works. Nevertheless....stop and see it.

Marina
Bucharest Herăstrău Park, home to the oldest man-made lake in the city, offers a 7.4-kilometer scenic path along its banks. The park features magnificent cypress trees, numerous cafes and restaurants, playgrounds for children, and sports grounds including old-school workout equipment. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk around the lake or engage in activities like cycling, kayaking, and canoeing.
This park is an absolute gem in the heart of Bucharest! Perfect for a peaceful walk, family outings, or a boat ride on the lake. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, with beautiful nature and wide paths that are ideal for walking or biking. The boat station is a fun highlight and adds a special charm. There are also playgrounds for kids and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bucharest!

This park is Bucharest's equivalent of Central Park in New York. It's a green space that hosts important biodiversity for the city. It's also a popular spot for family outings, with playgrounds, sports facilities, and some of the best restaurants and clubs in town. A huge lake with a scenic path along the bank. There are many magnificent swamp green cypresses on the bank. You'll find many good cafes & restaurants here, playgrounds for children, sports grounds. One of the sports ground very old, iron & tough, especially for workout men & women) Only horizontal bar, ladder, rope with knots & pylon(look at it in the last photo)!!! A very good place for running in hot weather, because you are running all distance along the bank with beautiful landscape and in a shadow of trees.
Дмитрий У — Google review
The biggest park in Bucharest! We have enjoyed strolling throughout the park. One may choose to avail the bike rentals but be careful as the bike lanes are allotted in between pedestrian lanes. There are plenty of kiosks to buy local and commercial ice creams, baked goods and drinks. Likewise many restaurants to choose from. Nice view by the lake definitely! It can be crowded in the evening as many families spend time here. Some part of the park requires better maintenance otherwise really beautiful. You can rent a private paddling boat or just buy a ticket for 15 Lei for a 25 minute boat ride like we did because the weather was too hot. You'll better appreciate the place with this short boat tour but no audio guide available. We had late lunch at a big and busy restaurant calles Beraria. There are oftentimes a big event happening here during summer. Though we were surprised how the staffs acted efficiently and they all spoke fluent English as communication for locals was a huge problem in many places. We spend time here pleasurably by visiting at the last moment the the National village museum located also just near the park. An entrance fee of 15 lei for adults. We went there about 1hr before closing time (19:00) which is not enough. Better allot about 2 to 2.5 hours when visiting this museum. Worth the visit!

The Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, also known as the 'Village Museum,' is an open-air museum located in Herastrau Park that showcases traditional Romanian village life. Established in 1936, the museum features over 300 traditional buildings such as peasant homes, barns, log cabins, churches, workshops, and mills from various regions of Romania. These structures were carefully dismantled and reassembled within the park to create a lifelike village setting.
Fantastic place to visit and see how old village house look like. And those houses and churches are moved from there original place to this open air museum of I got that right. Also if you like cats their are kinda a lot of cats present. Tickets are also easy to get.
Demonic M — Google review
What an impressive collection of traditional homes from the various Romanian regions. These buildings are authentic, they have all been relocated from their original Romanian area and erected in this open air museum for all to experience. Today was a great day to visit, many individuals dressed in traditional attire were serving up some local foods and crafts.
Angela W — Google review
A lot of the houses seemed to be closed (even though it wasn't a Monday/Tuesday when it's half price because of this) but it was still great to be able to walk up to them and look through the windows, and the 40 lei price was reasonable given the amount of things to see and upkeep required! Information is given in Romanian and English. Lots of friendly cats around too :) Easy to reach if you take the M2 metro line to Aviatorilor :)
Tim S — Google review
Old houses tell great stories! You can see the difference in style from various parts of the country. If you're not a catperson: just go here and look into history. If you are a catperson: get here and enjoy them. You can also look at the old houses if you want. 😉
David S — Google review
A very interesting place to visit. The museum is outdoors and shows traditional houses and buildings from different parts of Romania. Walking through it feels peaceful, and you get a good sense of how people lived in the past. It’s well maintained and easy to explore. I spent a few hours there and really enjoyed it. Worth visiting if you’re in Bucharest and if the weather is nice. For the cat lovers, there were alot of very friendly cats there aswell.
Yishai C — Google review
Go for the nature and sights with fresh air, non-smoking grounds. Which is rare to find in the city! Stay for the cats. This is such a cat haven where you can see them each in their own spaces like they own each separate property. I’d like to imagine they run this place like it’s their own town. It’s fun to see the homes in their original form, some are outside views only and some you can see inside behind a rope for preservation purposes. You can do the tour with a guide or on your own. I saw an audio tour available and you can read the plaques in front of each property. This really is the perfect getaway from the city center and it’s connected to a greenway/park so you can go to cafes there or get some exercise.
Travwell G — Google review
One of the best places to visit in Romania. All the signage is bilingual, which is helpful. You will learn about the development of the architecture and see amazing artefacts. It also offers a beautiful view of the lake. The only sad part was not having a good shop to buy souvenirs, and most of the houses were closed without any information being provided before purchasing the tickets. Visited on a day it was supposed to have everything opened.
Cristina T — Google review
Even though it’s located right in the heart of the city, it feels like stepping into a completely different world. With over 300 traditional structures—ranging from houses and barns to mills and churches—it beautifully reflects the rich diversity of Romanian village life. As you walk in the shade of the trees, it feels like a journey through time. Considering everything you get to see, the ticket prices are more than fair. A warm, peaceful, and culture-filled experience!

Lovely building, most of the exhibits were dioramas with interactive displays to see more information. Some of the taxidermy was questionable but overall a lovely museum and affordable enough to visit just to enjoy the vibes. Very nice experience with my 9YO son. He was most amazed by the cave, the geodes the live tarantulas and the mummies( we visited on Halloween 👻). All in all, I strongly recommend a visit.

A very fascinating and interesting museum, with many animals and informative boards about them. Currently, there is also an exhibition featuring live butterflies, where you can enter a room filled with real butterflies.

Absolutely worth visiting. Especially the part about the black sea and the Danube delta is very interesting. You get a lot of information in Romanian, English and Turkish language. Ticket is 32 leider.

This museum really impressed both my kids and me. We’ve visited quite a few museums in different countries, and this one stands out with its clear navigation, engaging exhibits, and an overall experience that’s educational without being boring.

Palace of Parliament

Government office
Sights & Landmarks
The Palace of Parliament is a colossal building and international conference center with an ornate interior. It was constructed in a traumatic transformation for the city, leading to the destruction of churches, homes, and displacement of families. This mega construction dreamt up by late dictator Nicolae Ceausescu is considered the heaviest building in the world, using massive amounts of steel, marble, and sand sourced locally.
This place is a must if you’re visiting Romania. The scale is unbelievable and the rooms are stunning. The only downside was our tour guide, who spoke more about herself than the building. I’d have preferred more focus on the architecture. Still, definitely worth seeing.
JUNE S — Google review
The Romanian Parliament it's a wonder of the world. The heavies building in the world and the second biggest administration building in the world after the Pentagon. Inside you will be fascinated by the architecture and luxury of the rooms, halls and chandeliers. Ones of the biggest and most beautiful in the world. I highly recommend it to visit! I recommend not to by tickets in advance, buying from the entrance it's the best thing you can do!
Alexandru S — Google review
This visit you must include in your itinerary for Bucharest! Fascinating facts about a larger-than-life dictator's house will put your life in perspective. Absolutely ensure this tour. Do not forget your passport! Tickets are only sold in the building.
Dmitry L — Google review
The Palace of Parliament is one of those sights everyone should probably see when visiting Bucharest. The sheer size of the building is impressive, and then inside is a maze of one large marble floored room after another. Note their is a number of security check points to get on a tour, scanners and passport/ID checks. We had an English speaking guide who was very knowledgeable and also brought his own funny wit to the tour. Total tour is about an hour
Matthew S — Google review
I highly recommend buying tickets in advance, as visits are guided and limited to a specific time and number of people. The tour was both interesting and informative - our guide shared a lot of details about the building. The Parliament features beautiful rooms, stunning staircases, and a variety of marble throughout. Being one of the largest parliament buildings in the world, it’s definitely a must-see if you’re spending time in Bucharest.
Keti U — Google review
Tua building is surely impressive, the inside even more. The price for a 1 hour visit from ver the top. The guide was good and it’s worth while visiting but still, pricy.
Tim H — Google review
This is a must-have visit when you are in town. There are many local resources used to built this extraordinary building but also the history is quite interesting to hear. Sad to know that the cost is high but the full extent is not used. The tour gives you 7% of the whole building but still enough to see the major ballrooms and conference rooms that are unique for this building. This building offer many one of a kind and world records so highly recommend to see it with your own eyes. We did not do any pre-work, thus we managed to book the time slot on spot, wait 2h and came back. There is a security check (no liquids, can buy after entering) into the building and then ID check once the guided tour starts. There is no possibility to wander around alone. I actually had a positive experience, especially thanks to the guide (man, under 30ties, laid back, sarcastic humour and attentive). Unfortunately cannot remember the name of the guide but highly recommend him. For fellow pregnant ladies, we did total over 100 stairs which was not bad at all. Buy water and bring it with you of visiting on a hot summer day.
Katre K — Google review
The tour guide explained very well, she was very sophisticated, educated, and spoke well. There is a lot to learn and we had a great time. Very educational time. Pre-booking would be a better thing to do. You cannot take a water bottle inside. I recommend you to drink them up beforehand. There'll be a security check. An ID or a passport will be required to get in.

Cismigiu Gardens is a serene and picturesque English-style park in Bucharest, offering a peaceful retreat with its tree-filled landscapes, a charming lake, and a delightful rose garden. It's one of the city's must-visit attractions alongside iconic landmarks like the Palace of Parliament and the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum. The park provides an ideal setting for leisurely strolls along its winding paths, scenic ponds, and numerous seating areas.
Really nice park. Went there a few times on my holiday. The pedalo was very reasonably priced at 10 lei (£1.70) for 30 mins. There was also a nice ice-cream/drinks cafe next to the pedalo office where we enjoyed some drinks overlooking the lake.

This is a lovely park! Lots of shaded paths and benches. There’s a charming little waterfall with a little pond in the middle where you can rent paddle and row boats. There’s an epic playground for kids. There are a number of places where you can stop for a coffee, some food and snacks (including ice cream). Great spot to kill some time on a hot day.

Very nice garden. There are many benches, beautiful flowers around, nice lake and some restaurants/cafes. You can also rent a boat for nice time in the lake.

Grădina Cișmigiu is a great location, right next to City Hall and perfect for a one-on-one conversation or a walking meeting. It's a wonderful place to work while enjoying Urban Nature. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the lake and old trees make the park special. The only downside is that you'll find bird droppings on the park benches, but that's part of the charm of all living city parks worldwide. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a break (even from the office)!
MyBusinessCamp O — Google review
Good park. Pretty big, many benches. Has places for kids to play, has quiet places to read book or meditate. Has places to have a drink or snack. Free toilets area available, not the best quality, but better than nothing. Long Lake.

Edenland Park

Fun & Games
Woodland leisure park for cycling, horseback riding & rope trails, with lodgings in tree houses.
Very spacious and beautiful park that we found on google maps to our way back to Bulgaria. It have many activities for small and big. My 10 years old son was very impressed. We love the Edenland park very much. We enjoyed at tree coasts and we ate pizza, burgers and the most delicious gelatto in Romania - Vicecream. We will come back again.
Айлин З — Google review
It’s a big and beautiful park. Many activities and food courts. However, very expensive and everything cost money in a high price from the parking lot, the security guard checks your bag since it is not approved to bring big bottles of water, the entrance cost money, each activity such as playground for the kids cost money, climbing the trees and so on. The indices of drinks and sweets also very expensive. The climbing the trees activity is nice but not very hard if you are looking for adventure.
Meytal H — Google review
The worse rip-off we had experienced in Romania. You pay an entrace fee of 5 Euros, and then you have to pay again for every single activity inside! 9 Euros for a simple playground for our 2 year old??!!?! Where do you come up with these prices? You're not allowed to bring water for the kids with you, so they force you instead to pay 2 Euros for a small 500mo bottle of water inside! You hungry? Just grab a small burger for 11 Euros! What a joke! This is Romania, not Monte Carlo guys! Avoid this place if you care about your pocket, plenty of other parks in Romania that don't rip you off...
John S — Google review
It was a wonderful day in this park. Interesting and sometimes little bit extrem tree courses. It was good to all ages people-from 4-5 years until 60 and more…)) Very good coffee at the beginning of the area! Thanks for this to barista! Why I giving 4 stars ? Because only two things in this park you can do free - toilet and zoo! For another activities including simple kinder playground you must pay. You have to be ready for that.
Viktoriia I — Google review
Nice park, small place. With bicycle we finish the whole park in 15 minutes. Take money from each activity and it's not cheap at all. If you come with kids it can be expensive. Far away from canter of the city.
יבגני ר — Google review
A very beautiful park, suitable activity for children and adults. If you like a little climbing and nature, this is a really good place. Please note, food and drinks are not allowed, except for personal half-liter water bottles.
Yaakov H — Google review
The park is nice. The problem is that need to pay for everything. The park is in the middle of a forest but need to pay parkung 6 lei/hour. Adult that don't do activities need to pay entrance fee. Every activity costs money, even baby playground. Suggest you to choose other activity than this place. Foodcourt is average quality and not cheap.
Aviad Y — Google review
I've LOVED Edenland for years, but customer service and administration cost it two stars. We've had multiple annual passes for Edenland and have loved going there for years. Unfortunately, the customer service has gone downhill. On one outing, one of our kids had flip flops on, and was told he needed closed-toe shoes to do the ropes course. That's reasonable. He changed into slip on hiking sandals (with closed toes) and was allowed to climb. He wore those shoes on 2-3 other occasions, too. Then one day we were told that the slip-on hiking sandals were not acceptable anymore - despite being acceptable prior times. On our last visit, the employees at the front gate told us that we could pay with card for entrance, but not for anything else in the park. Despite a working point of sale (POS) at the entrance, there "was no way" they could charge for activities with the same POS - cash only. But the ATM was not working. So rather than figure out a way to charge everything on one POS, Edenland chose to turn away customers.

The Church of the "Stavropoleos" Monastery

The Church of the "Stavropoleos" Monastery, located in Bucharest's old center, is a nunnery with a rich history dating back to 1724. The monastery features stunning hand-painted frescoes and embodies the Romanian Brancovenesc architectural style, blending late Renaissance, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Baroque influences. Visitors can soak in the serene atmosphere and relax in the charming courtyard.
A must visit if you’re in old town. This church was built in the early 18th century. A service was in progress when I went. It was too crowded to go inside. Make sure you take a peak at the small interior court in the back where there are funerary stones.
Melanie E — Google review
Visiting the Stavropoleos Monastery was like stepping gently into another time. The moment I entered, I felt as though I was almost touching the past, a feeling very similar to walking the sacred streets of Jerusalem. The silence, the intricate stone and wood carvings, and the soft light all create an atmosphere of deep peace and reverence. It’s a small place, but filled with immense spiritual energy. A true jewel of Bucharest, where history, faith, and beauty come together in harmony.
Inna V — Google review
Tucked away in the bustling old part of town … And I dare to say it like that because we passed from afar at least 3-4 times 🙄🤪🤭😂 Anyway, the Stavropoleos Monastery is a serene escape in the center of town. It was build in 1724. It is a tiny Orthodox church with incredible stone carvings and a peaceful courtyard that feels worlds away from the city’s chaos. Inside, the stones, frescoes and green create a peaceful atmosphere while they whisper stories of resilience. The monastery is small but it radiates quiet strength and harmony. A true hidden gem in a vibrant city.

This small monastery is one of the most beautiful and spiritual places in Bucharest. Built in 1724, the architecture is simply stunning — intricate details, stone carvings, and frescoes that reflect centuries of faith and artistry. The peaceful courtyard and the gentle chanting inside create a moment of calm amid the city’s bustle. I highly recommend visiting for anyone who wants to feel a true sense of Romanian spirituality and history.
Nicolae B — Google review
A very peaceful place in the middle of Old Town Bucharest. Nice to sit in the garden arra with birds chirping and less city noise. The church interior is calm and pretty with live singing when I visited.
Katherine H — Google review
A must stop during a walk through the old town. The church itself was totally packed during our visit, but I think the main jewelry is the inner courtyard and its impressive, old architecture. Even when experiencing it with other visitors, you can feel the history and peace the place beams. So beautifully built & kept, and the nature and trees around complete the beautiful experience.
Anni T — Google review
Stavropoleos Church was built in 1724 as a chapel for a nearby inn. Many locals consider it the most beautiful church in Bucharest. It features beautiful paintings and icons, and a small garden.
Monika K — Google review
Nice place, but it literally takes 10 minutes to visit. There are no explanations or writings to understand what you’re looking at. Also - I understand it is a sacred place, but is it so untouchable you can’t get rid of spider webs in the building?

Comana Monastery, or Mănăstirea Comana, is a serene and historically significant monastery located in the Comana Natural Park near Bucharest. Founded in the 16th century by Vlad the Impaler, it offers visitors a peaceful retreat with beautiful architecture, well-preserved frescoes, and a tranquil garden. The monastery is a notable spiritual and cultural site, appreciated for its rich history and serene atmosphere, making it a must-visit for those interested in Romanian heritage and Orthodox Christianity.

This well-known monastery is also a historical monument build up by Vlad the Impaler. It is considered the most probable burial place of this ruler. Apart of the spiritual meaning and legends, inside this site there is a mausoleum for soldiers who fought in WWI, as well as a monument dedicated to Anglo-American pilots who died around Comana in WWII. A must-see place, close to Bucharest!

The oldest church monastery from Romania 620 years old, Comana Monastery has witnessed a troubled yet brave history of the Romanian land. We were moved and happy to be able to visit it. The interior of the old church cannot be photographed, so we took pictures only from the inside the paraclise ( the new church).

Today we visited the holy monastery Comana, a special place with a lot of history. The monastery, the main body, is under renovation, services are held in the mausoleum that preserves the remains of soldiers who fell in the First World War. Although it does not have the brilliance and luster of other similar places, the emotional, soul and religious load of the place is felt. I have been to this monastery several times, which gives me peace of mind, so I recommend visiting it, being close to Bucharest as well. Also nearby is Comana Adventure Park

Comana is a place where you can take a long walk, you can visit the Comana church/monastery, a very beautiful one, near Neajlov river. There is a big place /adventure park where adults or kids cand stay 3 hours or more to play in the trees , to walk from a tree to another in the air 😁 or to climb a huge wall, or to fly over a lake using "tiroliana". They close the park at 5.pm. you can eat there at 2 restaurants:one with fish , one with "mici"/cevapi, and other grill meat. You can park your car outside the park. You can see a lot of birds on the lake. Overall, it is a great place to relax.

This is a very quaint little monastery with a rich history in antiquity and more recent. It was established by Vlad Tepes and it is near the location where British flyers crashed and perished during the war. A headless corpse in royal purple robes with the signat ring of Vlad I was found during renovations in the early 90's.

Great rooms and service. Fully equipped with everything that you might need. Great room size. Swimming pool, gym, snooker table, restaurant, room service etc. Very accommodating. The only down side was that despite room looking well cleaned. They had lots of long black hair which were neither mine neither my partner's as she is blond. Otherwise, all good. Food was good but not great compared to the hotel level. There are much better restaurants just 5 min away for half price
Pawel J — Google review
The place is really great, unfortunately sometimes we are left behind by the people we hire. First of all, I asked for a rossini and the waiter replied: "if you tell me what it contains we can probably make it for you if we have the ingredients" - which is a good answer but leads to an underline problem, if you're a waiter of 40YO and you don't know what is that a rossini, bellini and the difference with a mimosa, maybe you should serve at a "mici" joint, not a supposedly 5* restaurant. We ended up dinking something with prosecco and/or champagne with something that I identified as fanta. Now, about the food, I understand that people have different tastes in food, but we cook with salt, that is an important ingredient. My saint-jaques were salty, and I mean salty, but the other plate was saltless. My duck breast was good, but the side (carrot puree) was bitter, the other main dish was plenty of risotto with 4 saint-jacques, I mean a real platefull and again saltless, and it wasn't risotto, more like "pilaf" since there was absolutely no taste of cheese in it and the consistency, well ... don't get me started. Again the place is great and it could really be even greater, especially since in the parking lot there were a Rolls and a Bentley. If people owning those cars accept this kind of service and products, maybe you should visit more 5* places and educate those employees, maybe even hire some newblood and pay them better. In the end, the quality of your service and product depends on how much you pay for both of them. 600RON for the quality I got was over-overpriced.

"Snagov" Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Vlad the Impaler is rumored to be buried at this island sanctuary with a tiny, medieval-era church.
A nice small church, very beautiful inside. Located on island, you have to cross a bridge. To enter the church we had to pay around 2 Euros pro person. And you definitely have to go by car there - the buses take so long and don't seem to go regularly. From the church it's about 15 minutes to the next bus stop. On the territory there's just this church and a building under reconstruction.
Tanja S — Google review
To reach the monastery floating on the lake, we got out of the car at the bridge and crossed on foot. Perhaps because it was a weekday during summer vacation, we were the only visitors. The interior decoration of the monastery is in a style seen throughout Romania, and you can take photos for a fee.

A visit to Snagov Monastery is more than just a trip to a historical site; it's a unique excursion to a place steeped in both spiritual and historical legend. A Journey to a Hidden Island Located on an island in the middle of Lake Snagov, getting to the monastery is part of the experience. The journey, often by boat, adds a sense of peaceful seclusion, making you feel as though you are leaving the modern world behind to enter a place untouched by time. The serene waters of the lake and the lush greenery of the surrounding area create a tranquil and beautiful setting. A Place of Legend and History The monastery itself is a beautiful and quiet place, with a solemn atmosphere that encourages reflection. It is famous for a single, compelling reason: it is the rumored final resting place of Vlad the Impaler. While the historical truth of his burial site remains a subject of debate, visiting the small, unassuming tomb inside the church is a powerful and mysterious experience. It is a moment where history and legend collide, and you can't help but feel a sense of awe. A Worthwhile Excursion Snagov Monastery is not a simple walk-up attraction; it's a destination that requires a bit of effort to reach, but it is well worth it. The combination of the beautiful natural setting, the tranquil atmosphere of the monastery, and the captivating legend of Vlad the Impaler makes it a fascinating and memorable trip. It is a highly recommended excursion for anyone with an interest in history, legend, or simply a peaceful escape from the city. There is strong energy felt inside the church

Actual grounds, buildings externally and lake was nice to see, however at 20 LEI each to see the inside was expensive. Really not a lot here. There wasn’t much to see inside, def not worth 20 LEI !
Miss R — Google review
My first visit to Snagov monastery and it was a disappointment. I’m half Romanian and been in the country several times. This place felt abandoned and not treated with care. The inside is very nice to the eye, but no feeling of being an living monastery, it’s a museum and you pay to get in. The village kids spitted after me, either because I looked like a tourist or had my rental with Bucharest plate. The village is just tragic - living on a rumour that Vlad is buried there. When wanting to use the public toilet, a villager came out from it and locked it, told me water wasn’t working and it’s closed. Spending a day here if you have only a few is a lost day. If you have time go to the north, Sinaia, Brasov etc and experience Romanias better side. And please release the ostrich, its animal cruelty Vă rog, eliberați struțul de la mănăstire – e pur și simplu inuman și nu se simte bine.

This is a museum worth visiting for those interested in the history of the neolithic and eneolithic civilizations in Europe. From Gobekli tepe all the way to Baltic sea, those people were the first to inhabit the continent. Their material culture is an astonishing monument of a lost civilzation who used to live very differently than us modern humans. It is a lesson to be learned.

It was definitely a beautiful experience, which I hope let me repeat it and recommend it!

Lots of interesting artefacts to see, a treasure of Greek origin, some lovely recreations and tones of information and knowledge is all gathered there neatly and organised by periods. It is definitely worth going there. And you can also buy some lively souvenirs too.

Museum is super!!! Went a week ago together with my family and we got an incredible tour in Spanish from one of the staff of the museum who was very welcoming and told us a lot of interesting facts regarding the history of this area. Top!!!!!! Muchas gracias!!! Tuvimos una visita inolvidable! 👍👍👍👍

Mind-blowing. Worth seeing definitely. Lots of different coins on display the most I've seen in a museum myself. Would recommend 100 percent

Very nice museum, wasn't expecting it to be this pleasant! Modern, friendly atmosphere and the lady is very passionate and when talking about history(french and english)! Here you have a picture of a preserved tomb from the proto-bulgarian era.
Kykyman K — Google review
An amazing display of finds from the vicinity, I was surprised how much history there is in the area going back 1,000s of years, I had a guided tour in English which was very helpful and informative, I recommend this museum if you're in town.

Its a nice place for going with kids. They should let people also feed some of the animals in exchange of some small money. Entrance fee is very small, only 5 lei for adult and 3 lei for kids over 5 years

Nice place , clean and big . Funny for kids walking and explore the views.

Nostalgic since I’ve come as a kid!! So many animals and you can tell they’re taken very good care of, my favorite place in the world, genuinely like a perfect place for anything , they have benches and tables, nice places for a picnic even. Seen an owl outside the zoo last year, I love being able to see the animals actually a bit closer and to see them interact. Wish people appreciated and didn’t terrorise the monkeys tho
Delia — Google review
Much better than Baneasa Bucuresti.A variety of animals, nice personnel, you could feed the goats, you can admire the view from a small resting place placed on top of a artificial hill with green all around it.

If you ever get to Slobozia, visiting this museum is a must. It's the most important sightseeing. Although the space is not ideal, the collection is quite interesting. It covers not only agriculture, but a variety of crafts, ethnography and others.

Monumentul Tropaeum Traiani

Mentioned on

Monument
Sights & Landmarks
Monuments & Statues
Tropaeum Traiani is a restored memorial that commemorates Emperor Trajan's victory in a battle during the 1st century AD. The monument holds significant historical importance for the Romanian people, and visitors can enjoy strolling through the nearby park. However, some tourists have complained about inadequate interpretation services at the site.
It is a very beautiful and calm place! You can stay there and relax!
Ciobanu O — Google review
Kitsch. A piece of history that was . Used to serve a political narrative that destroyed its original significance. However, the stop allows you to admire the scenery. Great and comforting.
Mike G — Google review
Good access infrastructure, nice rebuild of the original Tropaeum but nothing else to see except the Tropaeum and the ruins of the ancient city.
Alex C — Google review
Really nice bathrooms. They should also promote here the museum from the village so people could go visit there as well. A sort of pay one ticket and have access to both. There is also a park here with absolutely no purpose next to the main walkway towards the monument. It's worth 10 lei but they should really include the museum too into this
Romulus C — Google review
For the distance you travel and what awaits you when you arrive, I feel this one was actually a bit of a let-down. The monument is a modern recreation, it doesn't have much of the original stone visible (except for a few at the base). It might have been okay had there been more information, the information that what available was damaged or lacklustre.
Chris B — Google review
This is my second visit to this monument and every time it looked deserted. Anyway, this monument is meant to remember an important clash between the Romans and the native people, dacians. It is said that about 4k Romans perished on this battle field in the second century. It's a nice piece of Romanian history and some efforts were put into restoring this archaeological site. It's too bad that they didn't install a souvenir shop.
Cristian M — Google review
A great monument not advertised enough. The complex is really large and the central monument depicts a piece of Romanian history. Unfortunately not many people know about its existance.
Robert G — Google review
One of the oldest romanian heritage sites built in 109 AD, and was reconstructed in 1977, same as the original. It's worth seeing, the access road is very good, and you can also visit the ancient historical city, which is located nearby.

Absolutely beautiful spot! Cheile Dobrogei feels wild and peaceful at the same time dramatic limestone cliffs, winding roads and amazing views. Great for hiking, photos, or just a quiet escape in nature. Bring water and good shoes. Totally worth visiting!

Scenaric spot for a nice picnic. The area is quite small, but offers lovely views. Expect to stay between 15 to 60 minutes here and bring your beverages and food.

The protected area is a natural area (natural meadows, steppes, arable land, crops, pastures, deciduous forests, forests in transition) classified in the steppe geographical bioregion of the Casimcei Plateau; which houses a wide range of flores (halophilic, hygrophilic, mesohygrophilic) and provides hosting, feeding and nesting conditions for several migratory bird species.

Not very tourist friendly. Lots of things to improve in order to make this a real attraction for a tourist.
TotulPentruCalatorii — Google review
Hard to find (because the main building doesn’t look like a winery at all) and by reservation only, min group of 10 peopme. So, couldn’t get in. From the outside, it seems primitive and with not much to see or do here.
Morten H — Google review
From of Romania's greatest wineyards, due to obscure interests of previous and general owners, it became... sadly almost desolated. There is an old place which used to be beautiful, dedicated to tourists and locals alike which now looks like The Addams Family 's house now... The saddest part is that the owners didn' t even pickex of allow others to pick the grapes, which is... ridiculously dumb.

Hello beautiful people, Nice place to spend with little kids, plenty space, decent prices and friendly animals. You can find some snacks and no alcohol drinks. The parking places is near entrance. Enjoy!
I.M. C — Google review
A very fun place for my daughter. She was so excited about the playground, she spend 2.5 hours at the trampolines, slides and swings, and only 15 minutes petting the animals. So, i would return here because my daughter loved it. Only 4 stars because you can't eat here anything else but crackers, pretzels and chips. They have a separate menu for school groups or something like that.

A lot of space, a lot of toys, tranpulines, animals, not too much shadow but it's great for kinds to run around and have fun, they have also great food, a zip line for kind, it's great!!

Great place for kids, it's sort of an organized chaos, some animals always make it out, but the owners don't panic... Food is slow to come out but it's a big thing to have the option of eating something out there.
