Nuraghe Santu Antine

Mentioned on
6 lists
Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Nuraghe Santu Antine is an ancient Sardinian stone structure that once had three floors and a 24-meter tower. It is a significant part of the island's identity, representing the ancient history of Sardinia. Located in the Sardinian countryside, this massive and silent structure offers visitors a unique glimpse into the island's past. Exploring its interior reveals unexpected hallways, staircases, and different views, making it an intriguing destination for history and architecture enthusiasts.
Vast, well preserved 3500 year old archaeological site. The ticket office (10 euros per person) has an app you can download for free, which provides you with a good guide throughout the complex in several languages. Clean restrooms, snack bar, and outdoor seating along with plenty of parking. The site itself is extensive with lots of levels and tunnels to explore. Well lit in dark areas. Marvelous vistas of the surrounding valley.
Drake M — Google review
Very interesting historical landmark; we had no idea it could be so cute. It felt like a labyrinth. Very well kept and intriguing. Guided tours and audio guides are recommended.
Cristina P — Google review
Quite simply the finest Nuragic site we visited (and we visited five) while in Sardinia. Absolutely fascinating. And the bucolic setting intensifies the mystic effect of the surrounding hills. Well worth a few hours to visit. Also, don't forget to stop by the little restaurant attached to the ticket office for some antipasti and wine. All in all, a beautiful day out.
Andrew D — Google review
Very interesting historical artifact and fun to climb with great views
Nick C — Google review
Loved it! Beautifully preserved and very interesting to read about its history. 10 euro per person entry which we originally thought pricey was well worth it 👌. A self-guided Audio is also included in this price. 😀.
Thekilteddrifters — Google review
Fantastic place. Must be the best preserved Nuraghe in Sardinia.
Andrew F — Google review
A beautifully preserved Nuraghe in the Logudoro region of Sardinia ( Northwest). The site is well organised for individual or group tours, with a ticket office/souvenir shop, a bar with snacks and hot and cold drinks, and public restrooms. The full price ticket is 8€, which is fair since it goes to the maintenance expenses. You can take a walk all around and inside the Nuraghe, up to the top terrace, which offers an astounding view of the valley. There is no wheelchair nor assisted access to the upper levels, that you can reach by a very steep and tall set of stone steps, so keep this in mind when you visit. There are informative panels all around, to explain the history and architecture of the site.
Margherita D — Google review
this one is a small but almost fully intact Nuraghe you can find on the island. the ticket price of 10€ can feel expensive but worth a visit if you are in the area. No guided tours were offered on site according to the receptionist at the ticket counter but I saw a group with a guide speaking in Italian. Probably organised tour group. Self explanatory place and shouldn't take more than 30min.

Capo Caccia, located near Alghero in Sardinia, is a stunning rocky outcrop known for its breathtaking views and outdoor activities. It offers scenic hiking routes and diving sites, as well as caverns with archaeological remains. The promontory is famous for being one of the tallest cliffs in Sardinia and provides an incredible vantage point to admire the sea and spectacular sunsets.
Outstanding views. It was very busy however. Wear hiking shoes if you going to climb a little higher.

Beautiful experience on sea with Elena Escursioni. We spent a wonderful day at sea on their boat
Del P — Google review
Beautiful views and the cave but you need to walk down in big heat but even a lot more on the way up. Inside the cave it is warm, 18-20C during the whole year.
Radka K — Google review
You cannot access the Capo Caccia area but you can, however, for a fee of 14€, visit the underneath cave through some stairs (lots of them). My 2 cents - not worth the 14€ - visit the surrounding areas for free and you can find some real gems if you are daring enough.
Vincent S — Google review
Gorgeous views all around! Getting there by boat is even more spectacular!
Vencislav K — Google review
The lighthouse area is inaccessible as it is military area

Frecce delle grotte srl

Mentioned on
1 list

Travel agency
Caverns & Caves
Frecce delle grotte srl offers an unforgettable experience of exploring the stunning Grotte. Visitors have enjoyed boat rides to the caves and even spotted dolphins during their trips. The crew is known for being welcoming and hospitable, providing coffee and refreshments on board. While some suggest that more details about the region could be shared during the tour, many find the long boat ride along the cliffs to be awe-inspiring.
2 options to get there. Boat or land (incl 600+ steps). When it's choppy, no boats run. Amazing sight. Tour in Italian and English and well worth it. No need to book ahead if going by land but you may need to wait. If going by sea, boat and entry paired together.
Alex S — Google review
I enjoyed Neptune's Grotto, it's beautiful and ethereal. The boat ride there was lovely and weather was perfect. There are a lot of people in at any given time, so expect some queues and slowness. But it's a little confusing online how to book. If taking the boat, you buy a ticket from the vendor in person, not online. My ticket was €17. But the Grotto has a separate admission which is €14. This caught a few people out on the day. They do take card and cash 🙂
Jo T — Google review
First time being in a cave, cool place to view. Guide tours in both Italian and English, also possible to ask questions in French. Typical tourist attraction but one definitely worth doing when in Alghero.
Yente W — Google review
Overcrowded + horrible organization 😔 The cave was beautiful, the boat ride was pleasant, and the crew was skilled and polite. For these aspects, I would give 10 out of 5 stars. However, the organization at the cave entrance was terrible. About half of our boat was overtaken by a group of around 40 German tourists. When we pointed this out, they laughed at us. When we reported it to the staff at the ticket office and the entrance, they acted as if it wasn’t their problem. The group was let in ahead of us simply because they pushed through. Considering the entrance fee wasn’t cheap, the service was very poor and irresponsible. As a result, I spent the entire cave visit worrying whether we would make it back in time for the boat, and I couldn’t enjoy the tour. I would only recommend this place to people with strong nerves.
Ivana P — Google review
The lady at the ticket office was very professional and knowledgeable. The guy at the boat entrance was rude and very unprofessional. Shouting and making hand gestures!! Boats are dated and very crowded, probably over the allowed capacity limit. Try other operators to visit the caves.
Mohanad A — Google review
Good afternoon, there was one tour at 10, one at 3 pm that day. Nice tour sailors, really helpful. They maybe could give us more details about the region/environment. Really hot on the boat so don’t forget sunscreen and water!!
Lo ( — Google review
This is a trip you must do. The Grotte is a wonderful sight to see (price is completely seperate to the boat ride out and my experience is that you are told this) I have seen dolphins on 2 trips out to the Grotte and Steps. The crew on Debora are great. Very welcoming and hospitable. Coffee and refreshments are served on board ☕️
Eileen V — Google review
Absolutely dissapointing..arrived at the cave and captain said that weather is not good to park the boat. Did not even reach the entrance to see that. At that moment the waves was 0.6-0.8m. They already told while buying tickets that if weather is not good they will just swim around with the boat (like they knew that it will happen from the beginning).

Bombarde Beach is a picturesque 1-kilometer stretch of sandy shoreline surrounded by volcanic rocks, offering a tranquil escape near the city of Alghero in Sardinia. The beach features calm, iridescent waters ranging from green to blue and is popular for kite surfing and windsurfing. Visitors can access the beach easily via public transportation or car, with ample paid parking available. Additionally, there are restaurants nearby where visitors can savor local cuisine while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
Busy but lovely clear water and soft sand. 7 euro for a sunbed, foods decent enough at the beach bar. Free parking if you walk fir a bit, paid parking close by. Park dodgy and you'll get a ticket. Water gets deep quicker than usual, so your not swimming for 5 mins then standing up and it's knee deep, go just for the clear water. Sand temperature is just below molten lava and did I mention its busy
Jon A — Google review
Very crowded beach although quite clean. The restaurant nearby serves delicious meals even though it is very busy and the waiting is a bit long. But it was worth it as the lasagne was absolutely mouthwatering
Iza R — Google review
absolutely worth it, after only 40 minutes touring around all the (paid) parking spaces we found something who left so we got a spot. went to the beach, looks beautiful, great, we rented a parasol, after paying we were told nothing available, no problem, it was sunny and hot. highly recommended place, everyone comes here, great crowd, more than in Manhatten. really sandy sand by the looks of it, too. went somewhere else, same sun, same water
Wolfgang W — Google review
Great beach a bit far in a quieter location. I was cycling over there and it was beautiful experience. Plenty of trees for the shade and some rocks around. Beautiful turquoise and blue shallow water.
Katarzyna W — Google review
Nice beach a little crowded but fun for the kids.
Shaun A — Google review
Very good beach but also overcrowded in the august. I things better beach and sea is at the Mugoni
Antonis V — Google review
We liked this beach, Guy, better. The purest water, like a tear. There are no algae, although other beaches at the same time are just a nightmare. Beautiful coastline.

Spiaggia di Maria Pia is a famous beach known for its clean, white sand and clear waters that stretch over a kilometer long. Very nice beach without seaweed. Clean, pleasant, there are trees you can hide in their shade. The most beautiful beach in Alghero
Grzegorz J — Google review
Excellent beach, clean water, can be very crowded between 10 and 4 this time of uear but still lovely! If you walk until the very end, less people and more space.
Patricia M — Google review
Beautiful beach. It is wide and long enough for plenty of people to use. There are also trees in the beginning which provide sufficient shade.
Luky J — Google review
I'm not sure where Maria Pia ends and Fertilia beach starts, but the closer you get to Fertilia, the beach becomes calmer and the parking - free (the part with the palm trees by the road, not with the pines). Unfortunately the free beach areas are not clean from algae, as everywhere in Sardinia.
Annice W — Google review
One of our favourite beaches in the region! The sand is really fine, the beach itself and the water are clean. There are few beach bars and plenty of space for your own umbrella. ☀️🌊⛱️ You can use the public transport to come to the beach from Alghero. 🚌
Ванина Д — Google review
Beautiful beach with free areas. The water is crystal clear and gradually deepens, and the shore is covered with soft sand. Even on the weekend, it wasn’t too crowded.
Dóra J — Google review
Very nice, long and sandy beach with pine trees 👍🏻
Radek E — Google review
This was a beautiful beach with clear, greenish blue water. The water gets deeper very gradually and the waves are gentle. There are some rocks for decent snorkeling on one side of the beach. There was a fenced parking lot across the street where we paid 10 Euros for all day. There was a row of parking spaces in front of the beach, but I’m not sure if they were free. Many parked along the road. There is a beach bar with nice drinks. There is a toilet behind it. Also, there are a small number of sunbeds you can rent.

Spiaggia di Mugoni

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Spiaggia di Mugoni is a popular beach in Sardinia, near Alghero, known for its excellent snorkeling opportunities and family-friendly shallow waters. The area boasts a variety of fish species that can be easily observed with a snorkel mask. The beach features trees providing ample shade and offers comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas for relaxation. Visitors can also enjoy the amenities of the Baia di Conte Resort, which is surrounded by tranquil forests and provides a 4-star experience.
Keep your ticket EVEN after paying at the end of your day - you need it to get out the gate. Pay by cash or card AT THE END by scanning the ticket. After parking, walk to the beach and turn left. Walk along the crowded beach for 300m or so until you reach the tall tree section. Very uncrowded with natural tree shade. We were here on a Sunday and it stayed uncrowded. Water crystal clear and super panoramic view.
Anthony J — Google review
The beach itself is beautiful. The water is clear. But it is definitely overcrowded - the shore is long, but tight and the people are getting too close to each other, because of lack of space. If you want to go there, make sure you are there early enough, so you can find a good place for your umbrella. We got there with a bus from Alghero (9321 I think for 2.50 euro for one direction).
Ванина Д — Google review
Our absolute favorite in northwest Sardinia. Clear shallow water, lots of fish, pine forest just behind the beach. Nice soft sand, only a few meters of pebbles when entering the sea. Free parking in September (paid in high season, I believe). The organized area is packed, but the free zones are good enough. You could also put your towel under the trees.
Annice W — Google review
This is one of the best beaches in Alghero province. There is parking lot and bit a walking distance to beach, like 5 mins but then you will be surrounded by big trees 🌲 and nature while baking in the sun on the white sand beach. You can rent ⛱️🛏️ for 24 Euro: 2 beds and 1 umbrellas, which is a good price and also you can layout your own. There are plenty of bars for drinks and restaurants to eat really tasty food. I recommend to make a reservation and eat at La Niefe, it has nice natural shadow from the big trees while you have a sea view. Variety of wine and food is not that big but everything was delicious 😋
Liviu A — Google review
One of the longest beach in Alghero area, with pine forest where to get some shade. You have access to lots of bars and restaurants, a parking with decent fee.
Ana M — Google review
Very good clear crystal and icy water. Free parking under the trees for motorcycle. Also many places under the trees to sit.
Antonis V — Google review
Great beach, much calmer and quieter than others in the area. If you want to get a sunbed and umbrella, you have to go early because they are few. The restaurant is very nice. Parking is convenient and close to the beach. The bay is incredibly beautiful and the water is crystal clear. I recommend it.
Stanislava G — Google review
Wonderful long narrow beach fringed with pine trees and views across the bay. Really pretty ans feels wild still. We parked under a shady tree in the free car park on the left side as you enter off the road. Beach clubs and restaurants are scattered across the beach mostly to the right side. It's minutes from the airport so was our first stop when we arrived!

Church of the Holy Trinity Saccargia

Mentioned on

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
The Church of the Holy Trinity Saccargia is a remarkable Romanesque church constructed in 1116 on the grounds of an ancient monastery. Its striking appearance, with alternating white limestone and black basalt, stands out against the picturesque green hills that surround it. This Tuscan-Romanesque-style structure is entirely crafted from local stone and represents one of the most significant Romanesque monuments on the island.
Such an amazing sight on a hill beside the road. Well worth stopping and paying a few euro to see the frescos and statues inside.
Maree A — Google review
Basilica of the Holy Trinity of Saccargia took us by surprise on our road from Palau to Alghero Airport. We didn.t know about it, but it looked stunning so we had to stop. Visiting it, we found out that is one of the most important romanesque sites in the island, beeing constructed entirely in local stone since 1116. Just wow.
Bogdan B — Google review
Worth a visit on the way to Sassari. The church is from the 12th century and resembles the Duomo di Sienna in style but with local limestone and basalt instead of marble. Tickets have to be bought got 3€ pP.
David G — Google review
Beautifull church, in the "middle of nowhere". Next to the road, if you are going to Alghero from Palau. Next to the church there is a nice restaurant. Recommended stop ✌🏻
Peter K — Google review
A very interesting church featuring remarkable dark and white stone from different outcrops on the island. Inside is a notable fresco that is worth seeing. There is also the ruins of the old convent Entrance is only €3
Clive M — Google review
Amazing architecture, great just to wander around. You can buy tickets at the little shop to enter. We didn't so not sure of the state of the inside.
Renee W — Google review
Nice spot by the road. Be careful, the parking lot is just a hole. We couldn't get inside; it was closed. We practically didn't encounter any tourists here. No tickets were needed.
Jakub V — Google review
We visited this place on the route from San Teodoro to Alghero and I must admit that it was worth it. It is one of the most important Romanesque monuments on the island. The structure is entirely made of local stone, with a typical Tuscan Romanesque appearance. Visiting for a small fee inside is possible from April to the end of October. Inside of the church is a small souvenir shop, and a cafe near the parking where we can drink coffee and eat a croissant.

It comes alive at night. Maybe it's just me but the square just seemed too polished and modern and didn't really impress.

Piazza d'Italia in Sassari, Sardinia, has won my heart with its captivating charm and lively atmosphere. I had a delightful experience here, and I'm excited to share my thoughts. Nestled in the heart of Sassari, this picturesque square boasts a wonderful selection of restaurants, offering a diverse culinary experience that caters to all tastes. From traditional Italian dishes to international cuisines, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings. The variety of dining options nearby is definitely a big plus! What truly sets Piazza d'Italia apart is the enchanting ambiance it exudes. The vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by the lively sounds of music, creating a delightful backdrop as you stroll through the square. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the local culture while enjoying a pleasant evening with friends or loved ones. However, I'm giving it four stars instead of five due to the occasional overcrowding during peak hours, which can make it a bit challenging to find a comfortable seating spot. Nonetheless, the overall experience was still enjoyable and worth a visit. If you're looking for a lively and gastronomically rich destination in Sassari, Piazza d'Italia is the place to be. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply love immersing yourself in the local vibes, this charming gem is sure to leave you with lasting memories.

This is most likely the largest and most central square in Sassari. Many of the buildings surrounding it are from the late 19th century, done in a grandiose style by a re-emerging Italy after the unification of the country in 1870. There are many restaurants, eateries and cafés on the square and in the vicinity. The square comes alive in the evening.

The only thing, remember that this island is a protected park, so forget about services, taxis, public transport, banks or similar. (Original) Uno dei posti più belli della Sardegna e del mondo. Spiaggia di Ezzi Mannu is a hidden gem nestled between the municipalities of Stintino and Sassari, offering an idyllic escape from the bustling tourist hotspots of Northern Sardinia. This expansive two-kilometer stretch of beach features stunning emerald waters and unique quartz sand that invites visitors to lay down their towels without feeling cramped. Unlike more popular beaches, Ezzi Mannu provides a serene atmosphere where you can enjoy the gentle breeze and crystal-clear water in peace.
Excellent beach. A lot of people in the organized area but also a lot of free space (unfortunately not cleaned of algae and grass, as it is always in Sardinia). Free parking, easier to find a place than on neighbouring Pazzona.
Annice W — Google review
Nice beach without many people like on LaPelosa. It’s very clean with small bar available. We were here end of May and nothing to pay for the parking, not sure about the prices of umbrellas as we hit the day very there has been some issue with lifeguard so we couldn’t rent any (not sue the dependency of having or rather not little shadow on the beach vs lifeguard missing). The entrance to the water is deeper quickly (1.2m - 1.3m deep with few steps) however water is crystal clear, some small rocks st the bottom so good for snorkeling. The beach is sandy however this white places are mini stones. Not an issue but kids are not too happy 🤷🏻‍♂️ other than that it’s great.
Greg — Google review
Very beautiful beach is an incredible atmosphere, clean spacious, enough space for everyone! Crystal clear water, there is a very beautiful cafe you can take sun loungers for the day, delicious cuisine, very fragrant cappuccino. We had a great day with my family. 10 out of 10🌞
Mary K — Google review
The beach is just magical, yes it is wild mostly, but there is a bar, toilet, and not so many people as on la pelosa. And no need to pay for the beach and book in advance . Beautiful granular Pebble white in color. It was unforgettable
Olena T — Google review
One of our favorite beaches! Sandy and pebbly but it doesnt hurt the feet, clear beautiful waters, lots of space as it is a long coast and free parking so close.
Patricia M — Google review
Beautiful white small pebble and sand beach with totally clear crystal water. Ignore the ugly power station 5 miles further along as it does not affect the quality of the beach or water. Following the signs one feel like you are driving into the back yard of a farm but this is the entrance to the beach. When you reach the beach car parking area continue driving to the right until you find a less crowded section. There is a lot of car parking space and you are right behind the beach itself. Exit is up a dirt hill and out on another road so there are no traffic issues between arriving and leaving. The beach is busy but you can find space and enjoy a beautiful place
Ian F — Google review
Cristal clear water. The beach is packed in August, but it’s still relatively easy to find yout place. A free parking nearby.
Maciej T — Google review
Doesn’t live up to the hype. The beach itself could be stunning, but the experience is spoiled by trash scattered everywhere, bottles, wrappers, sigarette filters, you name it. Felt more like a recycling depot than a seaside escape. Such a waste of what should be a beautiful spot.

Roccia dell'Elefante

Mentioned on
1 list
Roccia dell'Elefante, also known as Elephant Rock, is a remarkable natural formation located along state road 134 in the Castelsardo area of Sardinia. This large rust-colored boulder, about four meters high, bears a striking resemblance to a seated elephant. Not only is it an intriguing sight to behold, but it also holds archaeological significance as it contains two ancient Fairy Houses used for burial rituals thousands of years ago.
From the right angle the rock really looks like an elephant, but if you check it around is losing its magic😂 Is an interesting rock. Honestly the view behind it was spectacular. All the green hills were wonderful. But I think that was because we visited in April - I guess the rest of the year its all yellow from the heat.
Andreea D — Google review
"A unique rock formation right by the road. We parked on the roadside and walked up to it easily in a short time. Very easy to access and a quick, interesting stop along the way."
Dalila C — Google review
So funny to see this rock shaped like an elephant, who knew there were elephants in Sardinia. There is some parking for about 10 cars by the side of the road. If you in the area its worth a look.

The most beautiful beach I have ever seen. You will need to make a reservation and bring mats which are mandatory
Natalia U — Google review
Very pretty, but very expensive and full of people. First row 50 (2 chairs and 1 umbrella) other rows 45. It’s very very full and very very beautiful. Depends on the kind of trip you are doing. And if you enter the website at 8 it’s almost sure you can buy. Parking paid, saw many people getting tickets on the way out, so pay for the hours you are going to stay.
Camila P — Google review
Overall experience was a 3/5. What is good: - view and the sea was just so beautiful and a must see for sure What is bad: - parking is quite expensive (paid 15€ for 4h) - you need to put a mat below your beach towel - reserving is a bit stressful (tickets are very popular and so you should reserve by 8am (or 9am when the not fulfilled reservations get back online)) - place is super crowded; it is really hard to relax there - windy place; be prepared for flying sun umbrellas (so better get a anker for your umbrella)
Sebastian K — Google review
Sure the water is beautiful, but you have to share it with hundreds of other people. Way too crowded. I thought that needing to make a reservation and pay ahead of time that they limited the number of people but that's not the case. We stayed the whole day to get our money's worth, but the beach was too crowded. There are beaches that are just as beautiful, free, and not full of people. Highly overrated.
Cassia G — Google review
Beautiful beach with fine white sand and turquoise water. The views are amazing, and the sea is crystal clear — perfect for swimming and relaxing.
Anisoara R — Google review
This is one of the most popular beaches in Sardinia. The water is clean and transparent. We went off-season (mid-October) and were positively surprised that they don`t charge for parking now. Better arrive early in the morning because an hour later the parking was almost full. The weather in October turned out to be perfect for beach time - less crowds and more parking space. Another positive surprise is that they did not charge us for a beach towel mat - there was no one to look after this. Also being off-season we did not have to make a reservation and just popped-up. The beach is suitable for families with children - no waves, calm water. Totally recommend but come here in October.
Яна Т — Google review
Super crowded, and impossible to find parking after 10:30 am, even in late September, on a weekday. This is a "fake" beach where social validation, digital culture, and identity performance is the main attraction. By the way, you'll need to make reservations a month in advance. Parking is super expensive, if you can find any spaces. This is your typical Instagram scam. That being said, the water is clear and shallow, a perfect swimming pool. Come here early to enjoy it. Oh, no reservations required if you're not planning to lie on the sandy beach.
Diego G — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The water is so blue and tranquil. Plan ahead to either get a full day pass 7 days in advance which allows you to enter the beach at anytime on the day(s) you previously selected. Alternatively, you can obtain a QR code 48-hour in advance, however, you must enter during a specific time. You will also need to pay for parking which accepts credit cards. Plan in advance and you will absolutely enjoy your time here.

Playa la Marineda it's a nice beach close to Isola Rosa. If you don't rent a car it's not easy to get to Isola Rosa from Alguero. We had to change 3 busses to get there and it took a whole day. Having this in mind, Isola Rosa and it's beaches are nice. You just need patience to get there 😂 There are some beautiful beaches around such as La Marineda. The wind blows pretty hard there so it's a good spot for surf. It's a nice and relaxing beach, big enough. Surrounded by rocks and green hills, this beach it's a great place for you to take pictures. Sunsets here are amazing. I recommend it if you visit Isola Rosa and it's beaches! Good food at affordable prices. You must try the pizza, ohh the pizza was delicious!! And the ice cream! Nestled in the heart of Corsica, the Plateau de Cauria, also known as Stantari, is a captivating destination that transports you back to prehistoric times. This remarkable site features an impressive collection of megalithic menhirs standing proudly in their original positions, untouched by time or nature's whims. The remote location has preserved these ancient stones from destruction, allowing visitors to marvel at their grandeur.
This place is a really nice and interesting location filled with prehistoric artifacts. On top of the artifacts you will be wandering through the bush landscape of this high plateau. The road is a bit bumpy on the last 10km, but worth the ride. There are no facilities at all.

(Translated by Google) Magnificent protohistoric site with two rows of menhir statues (I Stantari & Renaghju) and a superb dolmen (Funtanaccia). But these are not the only attractions of this beautiful little walk of about an hour. Some exceptional specimens of cork oak are also on the path as well as a magnificent grove of holm oaks sheltering a chaos of Cyclopean rocks that will delight children. The path also passes through a small semi-swampy area at certain times and follows a very pleasant loop in the middle of pastures and archaeological sites. A real treat not to be missed. On the way back to Sartene, also make a detour to Bilia to admire the fortified site of Alô Bisujé. Prehistoric station Filitosa, located 20km north of Propriano in Corsica, is a significant archaeological site preserving remarkable granite menhirs dating back as far as 6000 years ago. Some of these standing stones were re-carved during the Bronze Age, around 2500 years later, featuring detailed faces and weaponry that seem to commemorate specific individuals.
Great place to visit, especially if you have tweens like us. They really enjoyed their "parkour" experience 😅 Loads to see and really interesting to learn about. There's a café at the start, which serves decent food. I had a tuna steak and fries, kids had steak and fries. The museum is a good place to end the tour as your really glad to get into somewhere with cool air conditioning by that point. We travelled by car from Porto Vecchio, which took around 1hr 45 along a quite stunning coastal road, which added to a great day out.
Mark S — Google review
Would definitely recommend stopping in here for a dive way back into prehistory. It's a beautiful place, interesting old ruins, and a nice hike too!
John H — Google review
Beautiful, but partly not authentic. A stunning site, very impressive and larger than we were expecting. Some of the menhirs (including the most impressive ones) outside are replicas though. This wouldn't be a problem: it is great these monuments are protected against the elements. But it is mentioned nowhere on the signs or in the audio tour. The real ones are found inside, in the museum. They should be clear and honest about this. Entry is 9 euros. This is very reasonable in our opinion, since the site is very large, there is a museum and conserving these monuments is not free.
Maarten K — Google review
way better than I expected. stopped in here on our way from Ajaccio to Bonaficcio. lovely little cafe on site, nice shop, very friendly service from staff in restaurant, ticket sales and shop. was lovely to walk around the site, see the olive tree and marvel at the history. 9 euro per adult, they don't take credit cards, but you can pay at the restaurant next door

Parc with ancient Filitosa statues spread over a few hectares. There is at the entrance a modern building with interesting historical artifacts and a shop. The entrance fee was rather high for what is there to see, on the other hand it’s a quite unique site which should be seen.
Stefan L — Google review
Great place to visit, is really interesting and plenty to read. You can explore and take your time. The access is not complicated and you have parking and a little brasserie on the side to eat. I was impressed for the olive tree! The path is fairly well indicated however it could be improved a bit. The museum at the end is plenty of historic information.
Javier U — Google review
Nice archeological center, as it presents the history of Corsica. (The museum at the end d plains nicely). The site itself is a bit too basic, lacking an explanation (unless you purchase the guide which we didn't do as we already spent 9€ eaxh, for the entrance) that could have been included (the qr code give you access ti only very little and poorly translated information)

Maison Bonaparte, a national museum, was the family home of the Bonapartes from 1682 to 1923. It is where Napoleon Bonaparte was born in 1769. The house offers insights into the family's history and Napoleon's early life. Visitors can see the room of Napoleon's birth and learn about the family through a multi-lingual audioguide.
Fascinating glimpse into life in the 1700’s in Corsica and its history involving the British and Italian peoples who colonised the Island from time to time 😉 The audio guide is essential to get the most from your visit as the info panels are only in French. The queue was exceptionally well handled and ensured that the rooms in this house were never overcrowded as they are typical of houses of this period.
Simon B — Google review
If you’re fascinated by history, this is a must-see. It’s amazing to visit the actual house where Napoleon grew up, so much to take in and imagine from that era! But they could have made effort to make it a better experience.
Sara — Google review
This significant house, the childhood home of Napoleon Bonaparte, offers a glimpse into the lifestyle, furniture, and daily life of the family. However, the experience could be enhanced and made more educational. Unfortunately, there were no English text provided, and the audio guides were unavailable. As a result, we felt that we didn’t get as much as we had hoped. We would appreciate it if they could incorporate movies or videos that showcase the daily life of the family, their habits, and a brief history of the family tree. This would provide enthusiasts with much more to explore and learn. The ticket was 7 Euros per adult.
N.O.D M — Google review
Napoleon's birthplace. Interesting museum, although not much is the same as when he lived there. His history and that of his family is well outlined. You are given an audio tour device at the door and the narration is pretty good in English. In early October there was a small line up to get in, but it went quickly. Note that the museum is closed for about 45 minutes around lunchtime. Avoid bringing large backpacks if you can. Security check at the door.
Jyrki H — Google review
Nice little piece of great European history. Museum dedicated solely to Napoleon's early life, without emphasis on his military career. Well organised and not very crowded. Ten minutes waiting for entrance is to be expected and no liquids allowed inside.

If you visit Ajaccio, you should definitely stop by this place — the house where Napoleon spent part of his life, now turned into a museum. The entrance fee is €7 for visitors over the age of 25.

So this was the childhood home of Napolis whom left at 9 years old to go to France military academy. He led a troubled youth on the island. So his dad shipped him off to military school with his brother. Inter sting note. This is not where he was as exiled to. Just where he started life. Family was poor. Rented rooms in the home. It was only many years later the family came into favor and money with the military escapades of Napoleon. Who interestingly sought to place his sisters and brothers in positions of power all throughout Europe. A very modest old building. Nothing really great to see but history as it occurred.

Fesch Museum

Museum
Art museum
The Fesch Museum, located in the building once inhabited by Cardinal Joseph Fesch, Napoleon's maternal uncle, is a palace museum with a rich European art collection. Renowned for its Italian Masters and Napoleonic Collection, it also houses valuable Corsican paintings. The museum boasts an impressive array of Italian Primitive paintings from the 14th-15th century and holds 'museum of France' status.
The chapel was included, but overrated; the actual museum was fantastic though! Recommendation for improvement is to either add a translation to the text (or a QR code). What I loved about the museum was the depth of artwork it presented; it didn't have an overwhelming religious focus. Instead it sectioned each floor with a different focus: Corsica art in the basement, Napoleon Bonaparte and Bonaparte family on the ground floor, religious focus at the first floor that was mostly Christian themed, but did have some pagan themes, and everyday life artwork on the second floor.
Adam W — Google review
Nice artwork. Some of the artwork had too much direct sunlight to enjoy. Some of the darker pieces could have been best shown in a darker room as well. With relation to the artwork, I would have half the price of the entry ticket.
TravelingDave — Google review
Inconsistent family concept We were right in the middle of doing one of the family panflets when we first earned many mean looks and surveillance by the first floor staff. We didn't do anything wrong though, didn't run around, didn't touch anything, didn't eat, only talked about the art and the panflet. That probably annoyed them. Then all of a sudden we were told off VERY RUDELY for leaving our trolley in another room for a second while completing one of tasks (you had to search for a painting). When we took it with us we were SHOUTED AT that we have to navigate in the center of the corridor instead of to the right (we didn't want to block oncoming traffic). Ridiculous. Rules were clearly improvised to get rid of us. Overall, we felt excluded as a family in a sad case of adultism. How are you supposed to ignite interest in arts in children when they are made to feel unwelcome in museums that propagate to be family-friendly?
Jan B — Google review
If you are an art lover you are going to be engaged but not bowled over. Not the highlight one hopes for but there are some works from famous names and a lot of division two. Centre of old Ajaccio so you are going to visit but don't pin your holiday on it. Like so often en France, the beat is in Paris. The Bonaparte fetish is also in full swing which, despite the fact the locals don't like the guy, they milk him for all his ermine clad imperial worth.
John H — Google review
Fine arts of Corsica, history of napoleon and chapel of the Bonaparte family crypt! Must see!

An excellent collection of Napoleonic portraiture and one of the best collections of Italian 18th century art outside the Louvre, set in a beautiful renovated 3 level gallery in the middle of the Ajaccio shopping district.

Very nice place for the whole family! Friendly and patient instructor teaches us how to use equipment and assisted with choice of the proper rout for our son. Highly recommended 😁

Really nice place for acrobranche. Many routes but mostly ziplines and little originality. Also safety not optimal, no helmets! And only lower body harness ( other parks also have over shoulders). With ziplines the line is too close to head. Only able to pay cash. Only 1 toilet, men are advised to go in the woods for toilet.

Calanques de Piana

Hiking area
The Calanques de Piana, also known as the Calanques of Piana, are a striking series of red granite rock formations located near the town of Piana on the western coast of Corsica. These dramatic cliffs have been shaped over millions of years by wind and water erosion, resulting in unique and breathtaking formations that have become iconic images of Corsica.
Cyclists and walkers alike will enjoy the vistas better if they go downhill. 😉
Valérie — Google review
Makes for a beautiful, and interesting drive. The roads are very narrow in places and many of the passing points get filled with other road users opportunistically using them as parking so they can get photos of the views, which means you need to be careful of people on the road as well. We ended up driving through in both directions at about 6pm. The roads weren't too busy and worth it for the views. We then parked at the tête de chien (small roadside parking on both sides of the road, space for 10-15 cars in total.) The walk from there is very pleasant and marked with yellow spray paint at key turning points. If you are confident and careful enough, there are some very impressive views to be had by taking a few steps off the track and pushing through the shrubs at certain places.
Alexander P — Google review
Its a beautiful, astonishing road along the west coast of Corsica but be ready for a very patience and careful drive! There could be goats&cows on tje road as well as very vwry narrow road above the coast. Be careful.
Anja P — Google review
Spectacular rocks with the street moving in between. Parc the car on the side of the road and take a little walk along the street. Pay attention to driving cars.

A must see when youre visiting Corsica, breathtaking sculptrual rock formations cascading above the sea.
Fidelma H — Google review
Beautiful drive from Piana to Porto through the Calanques de Piana. Outstanding views.
Jyrki H — Google review
Awesome eroded red rock formations, many looking ready to break loose! Beautiful views with sheer drops to the sea. Grab any and all small parking spots then walk usually less than 100m to get best views. Drive careful on the many blind corners!
Neil B — Google review
Spectacular views! The road is awfully narrow, and you have to be on the look out for tour buses and cyclists (there are small places to pull off along the road), but this is truly a jaw dropping view. Photos can’t do it justice.

Promenades en Mer Corse Adrénaline offers thrilling boat tours with experienced and interesting guides like Vincent and Arnaud. Despite foggy weather, the grand tour was successful and included a swim in an idyllic location. The 3.5-hour ride led by Arnaud provided an unforgettable experience, showcasing incredible spots with comfortable seating. Visitors highly recommend this company for its mix of discovery, wonder, excitement, laughter, and joy.
Thank you so much for an amazing Tour (3:30 h to Calanche and Scandola)! Our captain explained everything in french and afterwards for us in english aswell. The views were unbelivable - it's a must do Trip if you are in Porto.

Fantastic experience with great boat driver and entertainer. The trip through the caves was majestic, and the accompanying Corsican music was fabulous.
Marrit M — Google review
A great tour, with nice, funny and knowledgeable guides. On top of that, they are really engaged into wildlife preservation (it matters to me). Price is aligned with the other tour operators. They take reservations on the phone until 11pm, good to know :) Definitely recommend !
Guillaume L — Google review
Was an awesome trip showing us the best parts of the coast. The captain did a great job keeping everyone comfortable and even translated to English for me. They did some crazy manoeuvres, which customers seems to expect. But they always made sure everyone is ok. It is also one of the few companies where you don't need a life vest on the boat.
Thorsten T — Google review
i was the only english speaker on the tour and the guide did such a wonderful job of taking the time to explain everything to me separately. since i love geology, I’m so glad he did. it was so interesting!! did the big tour. just wow. plus the mini speedboat thing at the end was really fun. Merci!!
Cherie H — Google review
We had a very exciting boat trip with Adrenaline Corse. The captain has a lot to say about what you see along the way. Also the boat (which is fast but not too large) can get everywhere, even inside caves! Adrenaline Corse is definitely the company I would recommend!
Remon V — Google review
Lovely experience..... and the lunch was excellent. Thanks to the crew for a wonderful day despite of the windy and wavy conditions 😉
Tabari H — Google review
Amazing experience, with a great captain! We had booked for another day, but were contacted in advance to change it, due to risk of bad weather (which turned out to be true). Instead of a morning tour, we went in the afternoon. During the 4hr trip we experienced Corsican music, all the different cliffs and grottos, as well as the beautiful village of Ghirolata. The highlight, however, was seeing dolphins in the sunset. An experience we will remember for a long time.

Did the 90 minutes tour of the Calanches and was very satisfied! The booking process was easy by phone and was able to pay via credit card. The cruise was pleasant and I learned a lot. Antoine was a very convivial guide and captain. I would recommend Alpana sea excursions.

Arnaud was a great skipper, the swim in the calanques de piana are just superb! Better to go at sunset to skip the crowd. Love the whole gulf views. Long tour though, can be done in 2 and a half hours instead of 3 and a half.

Everything went super well. Thibault is really a great sailor and made it possible to get to all the places :)
Aiah R — Google review
There are several companies running the same kind of tour. I highly recommend going for those mid size boats (12 people max) as it allows to go deeper among the rocks while benefiting from the captain comments (something you don’t get renting on your own - also, you would be highly time constrained while these fast boat can easily navigate from one point to another). Alpana was a good choice indeed.

🇬🇧 Did the full tour: Calanques de Piana + Scandola, and it included a stop at the village of Girolata. It was very nice. But be careful, the full tour is over 3h. We were sitting at the front in the sun, and got a couple of sun burns. The crew on the boat were nice and knowledgeable.

We did the 3,5 hour tour. Great experience, definitely recommend this option over others! Skilled captain that manoeuvres the boat close to the spectacular landscape. Only 12 people on board, so relaxed atmosphere and a chance to take good pictures. We did the tour in a different order than other companies, which meant we had all the spots mostly to ourselves. Great in dept explanation on the geology and wildlife of the area. We spotted some sea eagles thanks to his knowledge of the area.

Really great boat renting company. Everyone was super helpful and nice. Super captain and very nice boat. They have a very solid boat that can go out even with a mixed weather (with some wind), for 12 persons while you could fit at least 20 sited people. So you have a lot of space but the ship is small enough to go in all the different caves. You will be ensured to live a great experience, even with a "not too good" weather while most of the other companies will have their ships stuck in the harbour.

(Translated by Google) Beware of non-athletes and especially non-climbers, the GR 20 is not a hiking trail, but a series of torrent beds (with or without water depending on the weather, in September 2024 it was with) of more or less slippery slabs, of ridge running. The FFR topo is quite approximate, and barely mentions danger and technical difficulty; it remains almost reliable in terms of distances and a little less in terms of elevation changes. We had chosen to double all the stages except the first (departure from Camp Rafalli + 8km of road on this stage) and the last (descent to Sainte Lucia de Porto Vecchio via the variant which leads back to Cavu + 8km of road compared to the arrival in Conca). Total time 78 hours, for an average pace of 2.8km/h over the 219km of our 9-day journey. longest day 13 hours (stage from asco to ciotellu di i mori) two other days at 10/11 hours, the majority of the other stages are 7 to 8 hours... I should point out that we walk quickly, and although semi-autonomous, we had light bags, 12kg with tent and food, and we were only overtaken by 1 to 2 hikers per stage. In terms of reception at shelters, it is quite uneven, the shelter equipment is sometimes dilapidated and poorly maintained, and the facilities are faulty. The meals are, with some exceptions (the onda = delicious fried entrecote and exceptional Campanelle pizza) mediocre, and the grocery stores overpriced with the best for usciolu 0.90 cts per cereal bar. Favor private sites, often better equipped, with a welcome worthy of the name.

Nestled in the picturesque hills above Calvi, La Villa Calvi is a luxurious retreat that perfectly blends elegance with breathtaking natural beauty. This upscale hotel boasts five stunning pools, including an infinity pool that offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the iconic 13th-century citadel. Guests can indulge in fine dining at its Mediterranean restaurant or unwind at the marine-inspired spa after a workout in the high-tech gym.
My wife and I spent 4 nights at La Villa Calvi for our honeymoon. The room was very spacious with a stunning sea/mountain view balcony. The staff, from cleaners to managers, were all excellent and were all polite and friendly. Breakfast was superb, and the food at both restaurants (the beach and the main hotel) we found delicious. True luxury.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at La Villa Calvi. Our room was excellent; the views from the hotel in general were wonderful; the service was excellent, and the food was top-notch! Had dinner there were some problems with wasps the management very kindly supplied us with electric flyswatters which did the job!!!

We spent a week at La villa Calvi and it was a pure happiness. The staff is super nice and make sure you are getting everything you need. The breakfast is amazing ! We loved every single things of this hotel and will come back !

La Villa is a contradiction , it is a five star hotel but many facets of its service are distinctly lacking . Firstly the positives - excellent location - clean and airy and modern - good spacious bright clean rooms , the house keeping staff are excellent, friendly, enthusiastic and professional - food is good , albeit I have had much better elsewhere. - the young lady running the restaurant was excellent - very professional and friendly. - the drivers were excellent- particularly Euan The disappointments - despite being a resident we were unable to book a table despite being flexible on time - the wine waiter needs retraining !! He pushed for our wine order even though we hadn’t ordered / decided on our food ! He made no attempt to be helpful , he overfilled the glasses , he even wanted to poor a second different wine into the same glasses we were frankly appalled and he argued the point. He was rude and arrogant . - the room service menu for children lacked imagination . It was also Problematic that hot food was not available until after 7.30pm ( the food actually arrived at 8.50 pm). - a meal served to one of our friends had paper in it !! The waitress apologised , but for a 5 star rating I would have expected the owner / manager / chef to come out and apologise- indeed the chef did come out and came over to us but then proceeded to talk to two people on the next table for 15 minutes with his back to us - a opportunity lost! - my wife and my daughter were at the beach but the hotel refused to come and collect them ( having done so 2 days earlier ) - the person was unhelpful , didn’t offer to organise a taxi or make any suggestions This hotel did not live up to its 5 star rating , please improve the consistency of your service level - attention to detail and training are core requirements.
Richard L — Google review
We visited Calvi, some of us coming from Asia, some from Paris, and were looking forward to a dinner at La Villa. Not only was it very difficult to book a table, in spite of the restaurant being half empty when we eventually visited last May, but the experience was very disappointing. No welcome at the hotel entrance, very slow service -a nice lady seemed to be alone dealing with several tables- nothing of what’s expected from a 5 star hotel restaurant at this price. The sommelier was most unpleasant: arrogant, rude, not interested to explain local wines, only focused on filling and re-filling our glasses to the max -spilling wine on the table right from the beginning- even before any bread or other food had been brought to the table. I wonder if the experience can even get worse during high season when the hotel is busier. It’s a shame to offer such a poor experience at this price in a beautiful location.
Christian P — Google review
This is a lovely peaceful hotel, with a magnificent view of Calvi. Very friendly and helpful staff with large well appointed rooms. The grounds and pool are well presented and it is in walking distance of the centre of Calvi, although it is uphill on the way back. Although they could lose the rubber ducks in the pool in front of the restaurant! (Some smart designers idea of being funny)
Nigel M — Google review
Nice hotel, room and view. However seriously let down by a few points: 1) food choice extremely limited 2) transfer from airport not organised properly; 3) air con in gym very weak; 4) shuttle car not at level expected; 5) staff -some lovely and some very unhelpful; 6) beach utterly dreadful. Overall much to like but could be so much better with attention to a few areas. Also not in the slightest kid friendly with very small pool and surrounding area.

At the highest point, there's an amphitheater made of local rocks providing stunning views of the deep blue sea and white-capped waves. Such a beautiful place. We loved everything about it, the people were very friendly, spoke English. The restaurant is only serving till 2pm, do be advised. They have cool drink and ice cream to cool down. The park isn’t too big, so it’s perfect for smaller children and in hot weather. There’s a huge playground, loads of space for kids to run around. Pretty seating areas in shaded spots. It’s very well maintained. I loved the gift store, it’s very cute. For the biggest impact, visit in spring or early summer.

Beautiful. A bit repetitive in the plant life but we'll sculpted and designed. The wire sculptures are a delight. An excellent playground for the children. Overall very nice but they need to add a lot more plant diversity and more water areas to attract insect, bird, and animal life.

Set in the hills near to the Île Rousse in the north of Corsica, this parkland is well worth a visit. The gardens are well maintained snd there are information panels too. As we visited in October there were not too many flowers to see, but the general planting and borders would look lovely in Spring and summer. If you have time, have lunch at the café - the food is all from local producers and very tasty. We had an amazing croque Monsieur and a mixed dishes of local Corsican meats and cheese - lovely! The cats are very friendly too!

Lighthouse on the rocky Pietra peninsula, reached by a walk or mini train, offering broad sea views.
Watching the sunset at the lighthouse is one of the best things of I'lle Rousse. A comfortable 20-30 minutes walk from the town center with a wide concrete path all the way. A must do!

Amazing panisland with great views on the town and the sea. Crystal-clear turquoise water and red rocks. Its well worth the short walk up. There is also a rock tower to see.

For me so far the nicest location on whole Corsica. Beautiful colors. The yellow rock with dark blue and turquoise water. Extremely nice and relaxing.
