Beautiful waterfalls - water is very clean and pure (Sept 2023). Nice place for a tea or coffee

If you are on time for Pearl mullet migration it’s priceless. Afford of little fishes to swim upstream unbelievable

Great stop, but there is an awkward guy tell us he is Polis, clearly not. We didn’t know what he wants, but be careful
Thi N — Google review
Very poor, not worth the drive up from Van. Water is very dirty, looks and smells like it is mixed with raw sewage, even the locals who venture into it spend a lot of time cleaning their feet with wet tissues. Free entry although parking is 20TL. Accessed by a rickety old bridge which is probably the most thrilling experience for miles, you can see peoples sense of achievement getting to the other side alive without the old rusty cables snapping or the wooden floor giving way!
Sherif K — Google review
Beautiful view, definitely worth visiting. Off season is even better with pure nature and clean air.

Well worth the stop. Free.

There is a sign that there is a parking but not that you have to pay for it. The security dude asked us for 10 lira although we stayed about 5 minutes. We paid but there are a lot of parking spots along the way there, don't make the same mistake as we did. Waterfall is beautiful though

Hoşap Kalesi

Temporarily Closed
Sights & Landmarks
Castles
Hoşap Castle, an impressive structure constructed in the mid-17th century by Mahmudi chieftain Sari Suleyman under Ottoman rule, comprises two main sections. The upper keep, situated on a towering cliff above the Hosap River, is a striking feature. The lower walled village, mostly composed of mud brick walls which have weathered away over time, also forms part of the castle complex.
Sprawling castle. The guardian opened it just for us, for free. Incredible views of the surrounding village and mountains. With very few visitors.
Michele F — Google review
There is much here to enjoy with a lovely short circular walk around the old castle. Unfortunately it was closed when we visited but was worth seeing anyway. The old mud outer walls of the old town along the hillsides are quite awe inspiring. Walking round the old village was also interesting and the locals were all very friendly.
Mick S — Google review
We went there on the way back from Vanadoky, so didn't have much time to explore. One Kurdish man kindly opened the gate to the castle for us, and told a little bit of history. The castle is very old, but not touristic, so it feels very nice to be one and only visitor there. Worth to visit
Mariia D — Google review
Sept. 2023 - it's closed for renovation, but it looks like they are doing a really nice job. Still worth visiting, looks great from outside - location as a bastion in wild country is atmospheric
Alex K — Google review
Fantastic place. The castle was built in the mid 17th century by Mahmudi chieftain Sarı Süleyman, a vassal of the Ottomans. There are two primary parts to the castle: the striking upper keep buit atop a cliff faced rock that towers over the güzel su (Hoşap) River and a lower walled village. Most of these lower walls were made of mud brick but have eroded away. Access to the castle changes from month to month. Sometimes there is a door warden, sometimes you need to get the keys from the police station up the hill, and sometimes it's closed completely due to archaeological work at the site.
Jash R — Google review
Not far away from Van ,on the east to Iranian border, you will find Hoşap castle on the place as you are in other time. Not many tourist there but worth to see, castle and scenerry too
Mirsada S — Google review
Beautiful historical castle 🏰 by the road 🫶😍🫶
RAID S — Google review
We came here after reading great things in outdated guide books and google reviews. We arrived here to find the castle closed. Upon digging deeper into the reviews I understand it was been closed for some time. Although the view is nice and the front gate is nice, I would try and get information regarding entrance before coming here. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing by, in my humble opinion not worth the 1 hour detour we took to get here.

Location and Building are remarkably beautiful. Sadly some idiots have scratched or marked their names on the bricks of the monastery. It is definitely worth a visit if you are around .... Parking space is plenty, food, toilets and a tourist shop are close. Top place to see!

There’s no guid, half the building including the museum is closed for repairs and there’s no accessibility for elderly or disabled. All in all, it is worth the short climb up the steep hill and the scenery of Aras river (along the road leading to the chapel) is beautiful!

It is now only open for visitors and its not being used for religous purposes. There is no one explaining about it. The internal Meusum was closed. But I liked the vibe and the location. Go there in a time its not crowded or you will not gwt the essence

The return stairs are long, which is difficult if someone has back or knee problems. You can go halfway and see a part of the waterfall and return the same way without stepping into the water. Shopping
The Tabriz Grand Bazaar is a historical and architecturally significant market, spanning 7 sq km and featuring 24 caravanserais and 22 impressive domed halls. Dating back over a millennium, with much of its fine brick vaulting from the 15th century, it's a UNESCO-listed site that offers classic goods such as carpets, spices, textiles, and tea.
The Grand Bazaar of Tabriz was beautiful, traditional, and full of history. It was alive with the rhythm of daily life and filled with authentic Iranian architecture. If you visit Tabriz, make sure to dedicate an entire day to exploring it—it’s absolutely worth it.
Fatemeh N — Google review
The beating heart of the commerce in Tabriz, the grand bazaar stands both as a historical place of trade and a unique architectural masterpiece with a labyrinth of interconnected brick structure. Developed in 16th-17th century, it covers a whooping area of 27 hectares and an astonishing number of shops and stalls, estimated to be between 5500 and 7000. You can let yourself delve into the heart of it by just walking in its numerous quarters and getting lost within its walls. This bazaar, unlike many similar ones in the country, has kept its authenticity and still is a major place where locals do their shopping. Mass tourism has not spoiled it yet, and I hope it never will.
Reza N — Google review
Tabriz Historic Bazaar, The Heart of Tabriz Trade & Culture! Step into one of the world’s oldest and most mesmerizing markets, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 200 years of history! Lose yourself in its stunning architecture, vibrant carpet shops, fragrant spice stalls, mouthwatering sweets, and endless treasures. Whether you're shopping for Persian rugs, tasting delicious nuts and pastries, or just soaking in the atmosphere, Tabriz Bazaar is an unforgettable experience. Don’t just visit Iran, live its soul at Tabriz Bazaar!
Aria M — Google review
Fantastic and great historical place, it’s known as the biggest covered grand Bazar in the world. But still worked and has the most negative effects on Iran economy and culture. Full of lazy people who just sit and gossip about anything . Iran have to get rid of this useless society soon and give its economy and industry to producers and scientific based business.
Ali N — Google review
The Grand Bazaar of Tabriz (بازار تبریز) is one of the most famous historical landmarks in Tabriz, Iran, and the largest covered bazaar complex in the world. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this magnificent marketplace has been a center of commerce, culture, and social life for centuries, dating back to the 13th century. Stretching across kilometers of interconnected brick-vaulted structures, the Tabriz Bazaar is a masterpiece of Persian architecture with domed halls, caravanserais, mosques, and traditional courtyards. It includes specialized sections (known as timchehs) dedicated to different trades such as carpets, jewelry, spices, textiles, and handicrafts. Among them, the Timcheh Mozaffarieh is particularly famous for its world-class Persian carpets. The bazaar has historically been a hub for merchants along the Silk Road, connecting East and West, and it continues to thrive today as a lively commercial and cultural center. Walking through its labyrinth of passageways, visitors are immersed in the vibrant atmosphere filled with the scent of spices, the beauty of handmade crafts, and the hospitality of local shopkeepers. Located in the heart of Tabriz, the Grand Bazaar is not just a shopping place but a living museum that reflects the traditions, economy, and architectural heritage of Iran. For travelers, it offers a unique opportunity to experience authentic Persian culture while exploring one of the most significant bazaars in the Islamic world.
Shahin S — Google review
Oh wow! Just wow. I spent two days there. Beautiful traditional shops, nice cafes and restaurants. The rug bazaar is amazing. It’s such a huge and dense place with nice courtyards.
Melika H — Google review
As tourist it’s a nice bazar to visit you need to set one day whether morning till noon or from noon till evening to complete it your sight-seen try to visit carpet bazar, shazda restaurant and species shops at least or manage full day if you have more time and enjoy the whole bazar use navigate and indicate your start and stop by points But as a marketing not suggesting too much hustle and bustle it’s right that the price are cheaper but too much headache
Ali — Google review
One of the biggest closed bazaars in the world, renowned for its carpet collection. I could spot hundreds of shops selling the world famous iranian carpets though quite expensive but of supreme quality. There are also many shops selling good quality of dry fruits and saffron. Must visit place if you are coming to Tabriz.

What an exquisite place to visit! I spent an hour admiring every piece. From artifacts to ancient gold coins to even skeletons... You will love it.

I was surprised when I found how rich this museum is. THIS place consists of three floors, each dedicated to a category and all of them interesting. There are many historical artifacts dating from recent history to more than 6000 years ago. I found some unique coins in this museum I couldn't find anywhere else. I highly recommend visiting here to all those interested in the rich culture of Iran. The personnel were polite and knowledgeable and they even stayed late for us to explore the whole museum.

Great museum full of unique and interesting artifacts. Ground floor has many items from the Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze, and Iron Ages. Second floor is divided into two sections. One has coins, stamps, and seals from various Persian dynasties. The other pottery and glassware. There is also a garden with statues and monuments but it was closed off.

Blue Mosque

Mentioned on

Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
The Blue Mosque, also known as Masjed-e Mozaffariya, is a stunning 15th-century mosque located in the city of Tabriz, Iran. It was built over the former graveyard of the Sorkhab neighborhood and serves as the eternal resting place for nearly 300 Iranian poets. The intricate and colorful tiles adorned with calligraphy add to its beauty.
An old mosque from the Qaraqoyunlu dynasty, late 15th century. Most of the decorative tile work is gone, but what remains reveals the grandiose work that has been done in building the mosque. Tiles that have been used are in shades of blue with Arabic writings, probably from the Koran.
I Q — Google review
From the outside appearance of the mosque, in the entrance, it was clear that the building was damaged greatly by the earthquake. There are still remnants of the blue patterns and they had made a great job of renovating it. The interior is also renovated specially the dome. People still go there to pray, and there is a small souvenir shop inside.
Iscene S — Google review
The Blue Mosque (Masjid-e-Kabud) in Tabriz, Iran, is one of the most iconic and historically significant mosques in the country. Built in the 15th century during the reign of the Kara Koyunlu dynasty, the mosque is renowned for its stunning tile work, particularly its blue and turquoise tiles that give the mosque its name. Although much of the mosque was damaged in an earthquake in the 18th century, the remnants of its architectural splendor continue to captivate visitors. The mosque features an impressive iwan (arched hall), a large dome, and intricately decorated walls, showcasing the exquisite artistry of the Safavid period. The use of glazed tiles, calligraphy, and geometric patterns within the mosque is a fine example of Islamic art and Persian architectural style. The Blue Mosque was originally built as a place of worship, but over the centuries, it has also served as a cultural and historical symbol of Tabriz. Despite the damage it has endured, the mosque remains a major landmark in the city and an important part of Iran’s cultural and religious heritage. Today, the mosque is a popular tourist destination, drawing visitors who come to admire its beauty, history, and the craftsmanship of its time.
Saeid S — Google review
The Blue Mosque of Tabriz – A Stolen Piece of the Sky! Kabud Mosque (Blue Mosque), where shattered turquoise tiles whisper tales of Tabriz’s golden age. Built in 1465, this 15th-century masterpiece was once a kaleidoscope of cobalt blues and emerald greens—until earthquakes left it "half-ruined, half-eternal." Today, its surviving mosaics glow like scattered sapphires, while the reconstructed sections pay homage to its lost grandeur. Locals call it The Turquoise of Islam and when sunlight hits those remaining tiles, you’ll see why. Don’t miss the haunting beauty of its unfinished domes and the hidden "Night Sky" mihrab, where stars seem to twinkle in the calligraphy. A must-see: Where history’s wounds shine brighter than perfection. Visit at sunset—the fading light makes the blues sing
Aria M — Google review
This is a pinnacle in Islamic and Iranian architectural art. A shrine dating back to 600 years ago with outstanding blue tiles which it gets its name from. Inside the mosque there's a guide that dedicated his research on studying this place and knows a lot from every corner of the shrine. This place was made by the order of Jahanshah and he and his wife are buried inside of it, just like Taj Mahal in India. Highly recommended.
Ebrahim K — Google review
Beautiful mosque which almost destroyed during earthquake but they tried to restore as much as they can, love the blue color of tiles
Alex P — Google review
The blue mosque is a well known monument in Tabriz. Constructed around 1465 it was destroyed in an earthquake around 300 years later. It took another 200 years for it to be reconstructed by a famous architect from Tabriz and is now in use again. You can enter it and wander around admiring the eautiful tiles and the reconstruction. Very recommendable.
مهدی ت — Google review
The mosque was built in 1465, massive stone dome and extensive blue tiles used to decorate it. Unfortunately there was an earthquake in th 1770's which damaged the art work. The repair work is still ongoing. Would say it needs quite some time, as it looked like not even 50% done. The exterior is still missing most of its outer casing of tiles.

It's almost ruined but the lake is still perfect, peaceful and calm, lots of interesting shape and colors you can find in this area, I loved the pool and the color of the water, in the background you can see the Mount Belgheys and in the other side you can find the prison mount, there are so many stories behind this area and about the Soleyman, the buildings are a little sad when I see them leave here without any care. At least the water makes me happy and hopeful.

A very unique place to visit, however you have to drive a long distance to get there. Do not trust navigation applications for driving duration, consider at least 3 hours from Zanjan on normal weather conditions. The road had magnificent sceneries and fun to drive (During daylight). Most of the road has good quality but better you go there with your car tank up. No special facilities you can find there but it's better to go there on spring or summer because during winter hardly you can get there !

Very special place, great atmosphere. The crater lake in the centre of the fortified area is still today a miracle. To have a well on the top of the hill has been fascinating for milleniums. Unfortunately the remains of the firetemple are very poor and there are no plans of the different stages of construction and development. Don't miss to klimb the hill south of the car park to get a beautiful view of the whole area. In addition i recomend to klimb Zendan-e Soleyman, a nearby Vulkano

We visited here in spring. So it was astonishing. The landscape, history and colors were amazing. The fact that there is an Artesian well with 122 m depth is one of the amazing thing one can expect up in this place. The color of water is very beautiful as well.

The world heritage committee has inscribed it on the world heritage list. There is a car park which you can camp if you like. The road from Dandy is bumpy but it worth to visit the complex. The lake which is a spring is amazing on top of the hill.

This is absolutely the most amazing and unique historical and natural site in entire Middle East. Takht-e-Soleyman: Azargoshnasb Fire Temple built during Sassanid dynasty as the holy space for the Kings and military class (worriers) to be blessed by Ahuramazda. Was repurposed and used by Illkhanid Mongol dynasty after Islam. It has an artesian calcite pond, with 112 meter depth connected to the underground water aquifers and magically stays isothermal at 21 deg C, during all seasons. This breathtaking pond is famous to be the heart chakra of mother Earth. Takht-e-Soleyman, has been, is and will be an elevated geographical and spiritual site for the souls of the people of this land, to stay in full gratitude for what their ancesstors left for them as a legacy, value and identity. #Takht-e-Soleyman will be significant in shaping the future identity of the people of this land, #Iranians.

Such a fascinating UNESCO world heritage site, with a lake known as one of the earth's chakras or energy centre. The archaeological site reflects multiple periods and cultural and religious influences, including a Zoroastrian fire temple from the Sassanid period.

Takht-e Soleyman or Azar Goshnasp is an archaeological site in West Azarbaijan, which was one of the three most important Zoroastrian fire temples built during the Sassanid period. It was partially rebuilt during the Ilkhanid period. The site was designated as a World Heritage Site in July 2003, of course, it's one of the destinations which travelers who had historical interest must visit in Iran

Behestan Castle

Castle
Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Behestan Castle (Ancient Fortress) Near the “Qizil Üzan” River and 20 KM from “Mahneshan” village in Zanjan province, is a historic castle that is different from all the castles you have ever seen. The age of the castle dates back to the “Median” period, “Med”, “𐎶𐎠𐎭”, “Māda” was the name of one of the “Aryan” and royal tribes in northwestern Iran. “Aryans” entered the Iran Plateau around the second millennium BC and most important were the “Medes” and “Persians”; The “Medes” settled in a village called “Madabad”, 5 KM from Mahnashan village in about 17th century BC. Establishment of the Mede State as the First Government Based on the Unity of Different Ethnic Relations in Iran must be regarded as the most important event in ancient history of the world. In the western parts of Iran, there are other works of Median in the “Hegmataneh” hill. The castle is at the foot of the “Elf chimneys” also known as the “Devil's Throne”. “Elf chimney” or “Hoodoo” is a geological phenomenon that results from the erosion of parts of the mountain with a sedimentary, soft body, The upper parts of Hoodoos are composed of a harder rock that is more resistant to erosion, because of this, the mountain becomes a special form of mushroom due to erosion. The creators of the castle created rooms by digging mountains and unloading soils and rocks, the rooms have been handcrafted and corridors have been added to them. The whole space of the castle is divided into 3 categories of rooms, corridors and staircases.Gradually the number of floors of the castle increased and zigzag-shaped staircases are created on both sides of the castle which connected the floors. One of the staircases and a number of castle rooms are still in place. In “Behestan Castle” there are 64 small and large rooms and the remains of a stone pond, The fort has triangular or circular places on the walls to accommodate the burner, One of the most important parts of the castle that remains intact is the entrance to one of the stairs northwest of the castle. Inside the castle is a pond measuring 7 by 3 meters in stone and mortar and its water was supplied by half-meter clay pipes. The rulers have built this castle to defend themselves and the people, It was primarily the political and administrative center of the village and then the local governor's residence. This citadel was also firmed after the Islamic period and until the fifth century.

This castle was build around 800 years ago, as a defensive castle. The first occupants dig the big (very big) stone and made a castle out of it. Unfortunately the river flow is damaging the foundation of this castle. Make sure to visit the remaining rooms and enjoy the carved decorations in it. The sunset scene is also fabulous. Contact me if you wanted to give it a visit.
Behzad R — Google review
The "fairy chimney" or hoodoo of the castle is one of the kind. The structure is of sedimentary rock formed in a matter of years. Located in Mahneshan, Zanjan province, Iran, this beautifully shaped structure stands all alone in the area. As it is far from the main city it is not very much known by tourists and so deserted, which makes perfect for us to go about the place and take photos freely and uninterrupted. I suggest that you go there in spring or autumn for the perfect weather. Plan your trip for 2 or 3 days as there are a lot of monuments in towns near Mahneshan.

Really nice place, of course most part of castle has destroyed but it's amazing and you can see part of room and niches that has been carved.

A castle like mountain which is formed because of different speeds of erosion in rock layers. There are carvings and rooms that are handmade and ancient. It was once used as a fortress.

Bazaar complex with a courtyard & ornate vaulted halls, housing handicrafts stores & coffee shops.
It's like taking a step back in time, this place is so well preserved. 🛕 This complex is a national treasure at the heart of Qazvin 💖 The biggest inside city Caravanserai in Iran. Persian art & architecture are really captivating here. ✴️✴️✴️✴️✴️ More to this place than meets the eye! 🤩 Enjoy lovely lightings of its passages, and beautiful courtyards for sitting & rest. Delicious local food & sweets in cozy traditional shops, restaurants & cafés. Apparently, one of the oldest Iranian cafés was established here. ☕ Also, you can find Iranian traditional Artifacts; paintings, carpets and Kilims in souvenir shops. Never seen anything like it before. A must-visit attraction. ✨
Ali E — Google review
Sa’d al-Saltaneh Caravanserai was built during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar by the order of Sa’d al-Saltaneh, the governor of Qazvin. The purpose of constructing this complex was to create a covered commercial caravanserai, providing a resting and trading place for domestic and international merchants. Due to Qazvin’s strategic location on the Silk Road, it became one of the most important trade centers of that era. Over time, the caravanserai suffered damages, but in the early 2000s, a major restoration project was undertaken to revive its historical identity and transform it into a cultural and touristic hub. Today, Sa’d al-Saltaneh has become a tourist, cultural, and artistic center in Qazvin. It hosts various handicraft shops, art galleries, traditional cafés, and restaurants, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.

Morteza D — Google review
Qazvin Jame Mosque or Jame Atiq Mosque or Jame Kabir Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Iran and the oldest Jame Mosque in Iran. Its first building was built on fire temples from the Sassanid era, and based on reliable reports, this first structure was a fire temple, which was changed to a mosque in the process of Islamization of Iran, and even now, most parts of the fire temple were in the south porch. This structure was ordered by Harun Al-Rashid. It was built in 192 AH. During the Mongol attack on Qazvin and from where it was the most important mosque in the city, a part of it (including the south porch) was destroyed, but it was rebuilt in the later periods. There are also 5-row inscriptions in Goldar, Naskh, and Tholt Kufi script in this The location can be seen.
Hossein M — Google review
The oldest part of the mosque is said to have been constructed by the orders of Harun al-Rashid in 807CE.[citation needed] Later additions were made, the last being during the late Safavid era. The double layered main dome of the mosque is from the Seljuk era, and is locked to the public. It houses some precious examples of relief calligraphy from medieval times. Renovations have also been carried out on many sections of the mosque. The foundation of the mosque is laid on a Zoroastrian fire temple. In spite of the devastating Mongol invasion, the mosque still stands today in its full glory. It is still in use. Parts of the mosque have been turned into a public library. The mosque also contains a Shabestan and Ab anbar, both now under the protection of Iran's Cultural Heritage Organization. Part of the mosque got on fire January 28, 2013 and that resulted in the historic tomb to be completely destroyed.

I went there on September 1st, 2018. It's a really great place, especially in the summer. You should go there at least once, especially in a group. The main road at that time had a terrible asphalt and the end of it was also dirt. There are many beautiful areas along the road. Plan your schedule to be there before 10-11 am. There were also restroom facilities and an entrance gate.

Alamut Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Ruins of historic mountaintop fortress, reachable by rugged hikes with sweeping summit views.
The nature and plains here are beyond description — truly indescribable. A palace stands atop a towering, uniquely-formed rock rising from the middle of the plains. I’m not sure if it’s true, but they have closed off the entrance to the castle area, apparently because it’s not safe for visitors. In the surrounding nature, there is also a stunning and mysterious canyon shaped like a snake.
Maral A — Google review
Alamut means Eagle's Nest. It is the famous castle from the history of Persia. You may have heard its name in the movie Prince of Persia. It is said that the English word "assassin" came from the word "hassasin", the followers of Hassan i Sabbah, perfect killers in that era. Currently, the place is in ruins and it is being renovated but the work is very slow. It may take a few years to bring it to life. You will have to climb many steps in order to reach the castle. The castle is not worth taking pictures of, but the view of Alamut Valley from the top especially at the time of sunset is breathtaking. The road to this castle is way more beautiful than the place itself, my second favourite after chalus road. Lots of places for couples and families to spend time if they come here by car. There is a parking and a public toilet available near the ticket area, no food so plan your visit accordingly. The price of the ticket for Iranians and Tourists are different. Approximately, 3 dollars for tourists. DO NOT forget to keep water with you while climbing!
P S — Google review
This is a castle with almost a millennia of history and belongs to several dynasties and groups. The sight of the valley is quite beautiful and eye pleasing. There's a ticket to be paid and there's almost 400 stairs to climb to reach the castle. But it is worth it.
Ebrahim K — Google review
The cheapest way from Tehran is to take a bus (80000-100000 Toman) to Qazvin, from Qazvin bus terminal go to taxi stop outside (20 min walk max). Ask any taxi driver to go to alamut castle and don't agree to the initial fares they demand. BARGAIN!! There are no fix rates. And, Qazvin is cheaper than Tehran. We paid (200000 Toman each) and it is expensive. It takes 2 hours and 30 mins max to reach there. Ask the taxi driver to drop you at Golestan restaurant which is just below alamut castle. Most of them will try to drop you afar and you will have to hike upwards with your luggage on mountainous terrain. Kinda tiring. Don't let them do that. If you plan to stay a night at the Golestan restaurant, you can either book a suite, room or you can sleep outside on a big table, which is the cheapest (they provide blanket and pillows). There is a restaurant at the top of the castle. You can have tea there but it's pricey. Enjoy!!
Shakir K — Google review
Mysterious stories of Alamut Castle in medieval times combined with the beauty of the landscape made for a memorable visit. The fortress was built in around 865 AD, high upon a rock at a tactical viewpoint where eagles might land. The name Alamut is said to mean"eagle's nest" or "eagle's teaching". Alamut was the headquarters of the Nizari Ismaili state. Of the many strongholds, Alamut is the most famous and was thought impregnable to any military attack. There are stories of its heavenly gardens, library, and laboratories where philosophers, scientists, and theologians could debate in intellectual freedom. The stronghold survived many attacks prior to the Mongol invasion in 1256, during which time the library was completely destroyed.
Trisha D — Google review
It is an ancient castle built by Hasan Sabbah in 11th century, to defend his religious cult (Ismailieh) from Holagu Khan. Holagu was a Mongolian ruler who conquered much of western Asia. Hassan Sabbah was founder of Ismaili state and his military group are know as Order of Assassins and they were famous for training eagles. The location of Alamut castle is on top of a 2100 meters hill witch makes it very hard to conquer. And it is very beautiful to look at because you'll be able to see effects on the mountains from last ice ages.

It is not worth going. It is not like the pristine nature of a lake, nor the comforts of an equipped place. Somewhere in the middle.

Nestled in the scenic Chitgar forest park, the National Botanical Garden of Iran is a breathtaking expanse that spans 145 hectares on the southern slopes of the Alborz mountain range. This remarkable garden showcases over 3,000 species of local and exotic flora, making it one of the largest botanical gardens globally. With its semi-arid climate and an average annual rainfall of around 240 mm, it provides a unique environment for both native and non-native plants to thrive.
Tehran National Botanical Garden. It is one of the best places in Tehran where you can visit and spend weekends and even weekdays, in all months of the year and all seasons, enjoy it, and if you love nature and plants and vegetation and their diversity; it will be heaven for you there. With an area of about 150 hectares.Every season of the year, the whole world and its rare plants, with their unique landscape design, give this national park a delightful and dreamy appearance. And I would rather say, a jewel in the heart of the Iranian capital for nature lovers.

The National Botanical Garden of Iran is a breathtaking oasis of natural beauty, where vibrant colors, diverse landscapes, and serene atmospheres come together in perfect harmony. Strolling through its vast expanses, visitors encounter lush Hyrcanian forests with towering trees, delicate alpine flowers from mountainous regions, and the exotic allure of desert plants thriving in arid displays. The garden's meticulously designed pathways lead to tranquil ponds adorned with water lilies, while the rock gardens and flowerbeds burst with seasonal blooms, creating a mesmerizing tapestry of textures and fragrances. Each section offers a unique visual feast, from the golden hues of autumn foliage to the fresh greenery of spring, making it a year-round sanctuary for nature lovers and a living masterpiece of Iran’s botanical heritage.

Unfortunately, either I visited it at the wrong time, or the condition and condition of the internal environment was not adequate and appropriate. I expected better conditions. Unfortunately, many routes were closed or could not be visited at this time. Of course, it should be kept in mind that the spring season has just started and many plants are either sleeping or budding.

It is one of the cleanest and most beautiful places in Tehran. It has beautiful nature from several different countries Some parts of this park give the feeling of the streets of Europe, Canada and America. It is definitely recommended to visit it once . But the entrance fee is expensive!

I bought the ticket from there but you can buy the ticket in advance. There were a flower shop in front of the entrance gate where you could buy seeds and flowers. The gave a garden’s map to you while checking your tickets. From my point of view the Hirkani jungle was the most beautiful part of it. Other parts included:Japanese and Chinese part,American,African and … parts.the label of plants were adequate. There were multiple lakes and rivers there. The butterfly museum included butterflies from all continents and other bugs. Highly recommended.
