Egremni Beach is a stunning 2km stretch of sand with clear turquoise waters and white shingle, reminiscent of the Caribbean. It's a popular destination accessed by boat from Nydri or Vassiliki, offering striking views and a cliff backdrop that adds to its beauty. The beach is set against electric blue waters and imposing limestone cliffs, creating an otherworldly beauty.
Beautiful beach with 400 extreme stairs! The colors of the sea are absolutely stunning and the beach is not so crowded. The umbrella is absolutely necessary! The timing of leaving the beach must be when it’s cooler because of the high temperatures, 3 or 4 PM is not a great idea 😊
Culinary F — Google review
We gave it 4 stars only because getting to the beach is a bit challenging: it’s about a 1.5 km steep walk down from the parking area, followed by 400 steps. Make sure to bring only the essentials, as you’ll need to carry everything back up. That said, I can confidently say the beach is absolutely worth the effort! It’s incredibly beautiful and looks different depending on the time of day — soft and calm in the early morning, and sparkling under the midday sun. The water is a magical color, and there are very few people around. The beach is made of medium-sized pebbles (same with the seabed), but it’s still comfortable to relax on a mat. Definitely bring an umbrella, as there’s no natural shade to hide from the sun.
Liliya — Google review
The beach is totally overated, the road to get here and back is horrible, 2 kilometers walking on serpentines and after the big surprise, 400 stairs, to get to a crowded beach with no spectacular view. Useless for snorkeling. The only great thing about this beach is the view from up the mountain.
Emil G — Google review
Amazing beach with big waves. The road to the beach was challenging, because the asphalt road was closed so you could only go by foot and then you had to go down a bunch of stairs. Totally worth it !
Olasz L — Google review
What a beach, absolutely stunning! Getting there does require some effort though: be prepared for a 1.5 km walk downhill, and the same uphill on the way back. There’s a small café just before the white stairs, but I’d recommend bringing your own snacks or food. Sunbeds are available, though limited. The beauty of the place is well worth it, and swimming is especially pleasant thanks to the small stones in the water.
Uliana L — Google review
Stunning beach with unrealistically vibrant waves and colors! However, getting there is quite a challenge: a 1.5-kilometer road with a 20% incline, followed by 400 steps down to the shore. I highly recommend bringing sea shoes, as the beach is covered with small pebbles and the waves can get very high.
Natom — Google review
Walking there and the stairs is not easy. Not good for older people or too fat. But the beach is the best i have seen. Great water, great view. Make sure you have sun protection and lots of water. Go early in the morning. . Parking 10 euro walking 1300 meters plus 400+ stairs. Very hard especially in the sun but worthwhile.
Daniel R — Google review
Parking is 10 euros. They help you with parking. The beach is beautiful, paradise-like, never overcrowded. The water is an incredible color and crystal clear. It gets deeper quickly. You have to use a parasol. There is no shade on the beach. There is a toilet in a café about 200 meters from the top of the stairs. Many people are put off by the long walk and the stairs, but if you are in Lefkada, you should not miss this. It is a beautiful and unforgettable experience.

Beaches
It's a perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, and relaxing. Parking near the beach costs €10, but the good part is that you receive a voucher that you can use at the bar. There’s only a small beach bar on-site, so it’s a good idea to bring your own food and plenty of water, especially on hot days. Sunbeds with an umbrella are available for €25 per set.
Ionuț C — Google review
The beach appears to offer a peaceful escape with comfortable sunbeds for relaxation. A small bar on the beach provides convenient access to refreshing drinks. Additionally, another bar located upstairs presents an opportunity to enjoy sandwiches. These amenities suggest a relaxing and enjoyable experience for visitors. Ultimately, this setup creates a welcoming atmosphere for those seeking a tranquil seaside retreat.
Claudia — Google review
Parking spot - 10€, 2 minutes and 70 stairs till the beach… 😅 perfect water, perfect view…
Carmen G — Google review
The prettiest water on Lefkada. Clear water with fish, almost no waves, a bit cold and small beach but worth visiting. There are beach chairs and parasols on the beach for 25e. Also the drinks and food bar. It gets overcrowded later in the afternoon. On the top there is a clean toilet in the morning but people will get it dirty afterwards. The parking is 10e but necessary, as you don’t get access to the beach other way if you go by car. By paying the parking you get 2free drinks from a bar on top. The gate to the beach opens at 9 so don’t go too early. But there is a small patio on the left of the gate for people. Also the beach doesn’t get sun until 10. We went there on the 20th of July.
Ivana T — Google review
Lovely Beach with Crystal Clear Water – Worth Returning To We visited this beach three times in one week, and the main reason we kept coming back was the water— absolutely stunning! The shades of blue are mesmerizing, and it's a joy to swim in. The area around the rocks is deeper, making it great for diving, and the rocks themselves are easy to climb. Parking is available for €10, and it includes two soft drinks. There are a few steps to get down to the beach, and a small kiosk on-site offers drinks and some food options — Taxi Boat from Vasiliki port also available to get to the beach. On our first day, we rented an umbrella and sunbeds (€25), but found it too expensive for what was offered. That area got uncomfortably warm with little to no airflow. For the second and third visits, we brought our own umbrella and set up closer to the rocks. It was a much better experience — breezier, more private, and overall more enjoyable. If you’re okay with a bit of a DIY setup and want to enjoy gorgeous water and natural surroundings, this beach is a great choice.
Antonio P — Google review
Beautiful beach! Very small so I recommend going early to find a good spot. The parking costs 10€ however they help you find a place, and the receipt gives you 2 free non-alcoholic drinks (fanta, water, frappé, ect.) If you need to rent chairs and an umbrella, it costs 25€ for the set.
Asli Y — Google review
Wow place! You must come early - 09:00 - to catch a good spot on the beach & parkng. 80 tough stairs..

Porto Katsiki is a narrow beach with stunning turquoise waters, surrounded by steep cliffs. It's considered one of the top beaches in Greece and is located 45km southwest of Lefkada Town. The beach offers crystal-clear blue waters against a backdrop of lush vegetation, creating an idyllic landscape. Visitors can descend to the coves from the car park via steps, but they tend to get crowded with day-trippers on boat tours from Nydri and Vassiliki.
We had to stop pretty far away because we were on a cruise ship L.E. Went later in the week again by car, parking 10€ but as far as I know you can go to the bar & they’ll give you 2 soft drinks or 4 water bottles so it’s nice. The beach was not very crowded, pretty chill but the sea was a little mad because of the wind, big waves so we were not allowed to go into the water sadly
Lorena H — Google review
Epic views, spacious beach with colder than usual waters. Expect it to be extra crowded during high season. A victim of its own success. I visited during a weekend in mid August, after 18⁰⁰ and it was epic.
Horia N — Google review
Beautiful beach, was not that crowded. The access is easy by car or motorcycle and the parking fee was 2€. The water was warm and waves not that big, so you could also swim safely.
Olasz L — Google review
My favorite beach on the whole island. Parking is 10 euro but is near the beach. The water is turquoise. It’s a big beach and even with a lot of people is not so full. Food available near the parking lot. You can see a lot of small beautiful fishes if you like diving. I was there in the end of September.
Viktoria ( — Google review
Mesmerizing! The parking is 10 euro, there is a place to eat, plenty of spots to park your car. We went off season and the beach was not overcrowded. The water was cristal clear. The beach itself was also very clean.
Marieta D — Google review
One of the prettiest beaches (if not the best on the island). You can park for free on the road, as many people do, parking is 10€ nearby but it gets crammed. The beach gets crowded but you can always find spot. There are no sunbeds to rent (late September). The stairs are not difficult to use, and many people are stopping on them to take pictures of the beach.
Teodora G — Google review
Stunning beach with the most blue water I have seen anywhere in the world! Pay for parking in the lot about 10 euros or free parking just outside of the area. The drive was windy and narrow but incredibly cool! Don’t go too fast and risk it. Food and drinks are sold before you go down to the beach, there are no services available on the beach itself.
Fred V — Google review
End of season perfect shore, came here in the afternoon and didn't need shade, probably better to bring it in high season... Beautiful with magical waters

Calypso

Greek restaurant
Calypso, located in the picturesque village of Kioni on Ithaca, offers a delightful dining experience. The restaurant's great menu and reasonable prices make it a popular choice for visitors. The friendly and efficient service adds to the overall appeal. Guests praise the delicious seafood dishes, with freshly caught sardines, grilled shrimps, and squid being particular favorites. The location by the harbor provides a perfect setting for enjoying authentic food while receiving warm hospitality from the staff.
Superb seafood, I had grilled sardines. Great location (at least 10 steps from our boat)
Chris P — Google review
So nice and welcoming staff. Good food and nice view. Their main dishes taste so genuine and are one of the best food I have tried in Greece. Moussaka and Imam is really good!
Nirvadana R — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant in Ithaca (especially as Greek). The staff was unfriendly and dismissive toward us from the beginning. Our food arrived more than an hour after ordering, and only after we reminded them three times. To make matters worse, the dishes that were supposedly "delayed" included steamed mussels, seafood kritharoto, and stuffed vegetables — nothing that should take this long. When we politely asked about the delay, instead of an apology, we were met with arrogance and excuses like, “It’s normal to wait an hour.” For pre-cooked stuffed vegetables? Really? What made the experience even more frustrating was not just the delay, the lack of apology, or the absence of any offer to cancel the order — but also the fact that when the food finally arrived, there were no spoons or napkins on the table. As for the prices, nothing was reasonably priced, nor was anything exceptionally good. Our order included a Cretan ntakos salad, some cheese pies (which were the only items that arrived promptly), stuffed vegetables with rice, steamed mussels (which were not fresh), seafood kritharoto, and one bottle of white wine — which alone cost €29. 100 in Total As for the excuse that “there were 100 customers,” the honest and professional thing to do would have been to tell us you couldn’t serve us in a reasonable time — so we could choose to eat somewhere else. No one chooses to sit through 90 minutes of waiting with only appetizers, a salad, and a bottle of wine. It’s common sense — it simply ruins the entire experience. If this is how you treat customers, don’t be surprised if we don’t come back. One word: avoid.
Bill Υ — Google review
We have been coming to Kioni for many years, and eaten here in the past and always really enjoyed it. This time around was definitely a particular highlight. The appetisers were absolutely delicious and the seafood orzo was a massive stand out, along with the vegetable pasta! Staff are lovely and it has the most wonderful atmosphere.
Cosima — Google review
A lovely find in Kioni. Great menu, good food, lovely setting and friendly helpful staff.
Haley C — Google review
The food was very delicious and super fairly priced. The waitress was absolutely lovely. We had a great experience!
Lisa — Google review
Went for a two-week sailing charter around the Ionian sea in May of 2025 and no restaurant could best this one. Kioni itself is magical, but the food, service, and atmosphere provided at Calypso take it to a whole new level. No restaurant in (little) Vathy, (big) Vathy, Asos, Sami, Argostoli, Zakynthos, Agios Nikolaos, Fiskardo, or Lefkada comes close. We thankfully went here due to a glowing recommendation from a fellow English yachtsman. Best advice we received all trip. Can't wait to go back. Special shout-out to the Lamb Kleftiko & the Veal Fillet, though everything else was also amazing.
Brandyn G — Google review
We visited Kioni on a boat tour of Ithaca. This was our lunch stop and the village is stunning. We chose Calypso to eat as they had a great menu that really wasn't overpriced given the location. The service was friendly, attentive and efficient and the food absolutely delicious. We all tried something different and there were no complaints. If you don't finish the bread provided (this was lovely too) save and feed the fish in the harbour! Would definitely eat here again if I'm ever visiting.

Myrtos Beach is a renowned and stunning destination located about 30km from Argostoli, the capital of Kefalonia. This secluded beach boasts white pebbles and crystal-clear cobalt-blue waters, all surrounded by impressive limestone cliffs. Despite its fame, Myrtos Beach remains undeveloped with only a simple kiosk for snacks and breathtaking views.
Firstly, the road to this beach is very exciting. Secondly, the beach impressed me with its size and the presence of caves. But the most picturesque thing was the colour of the water - it was blue without any filters. The pebbles are white, smooth, and pleasant to the touch. This beach also requires caution, because we were there twice and found both calm warm water and waves up to 2 metres high. So be very careful on this beach. And especially with children.
Maryna K — Google review
Stunning beach with the most beautiful coloured water, lovely winding drive down, plenty of free parking, toilets, changing rooms and showers on site. As many have said, be a little careful as the sea bed suddenly drops within less than a meter of the shoreline. Lovely cave at the end to explore / swim through. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Matthew B — Google review
Gorgeous beach and drive down. Very busy. There are some sunbeds/umbrellas but none were available the whole time I sat in front of them. Parking is a bit of a nightmare. So yes, lovely beach, but by far not the only incredible beach on the island.
Jimi D — Google review
One of the most stunning beaches we have ever visited. Crystal clear and clean waters. Difficult to find a parking because it’s crowdy, but it has such a huge coast that you will barely feel how busy it is. A must-visit beach if you are in the island. You can also watch a terrific sunset setting in front of you. We had a sup board with us, so we were lucky enough to paddle across beautiful landscapes at the edge of the beach.
Greg P — Google review
This is truly one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to. The crystal-clear waters are absolutely stunning, and the whole setting feels like paradise. If you’re visiting Kefalonia, this spot is a must-see, don’t miss it!
Sarah O — Google review
The most beautiful beach in Kefalonia, the water is an electric blue dream and the landscapes are superb, surrounded by high mountains. There are many free parking spaces here, the road is steep but in good condition. Everything here is superlative.
Liviu H — Google review
It was the most beautiful beach I've been! The colours of the water and spectacular cliffs make it the number one beach on the island. Pack your lunch and drinks in the cooler and take an umbrella, as no amenities on this beach(which is its beauty, in my opinion).
Magdalena M — Google review
The most amazingly blue sea. We were lucky enough to get fab waves but I think that’s rare. As per most beaches on this coast, it gets deep quick so not the best for weak swimmers. Showers and loos on the beach.

Paralia Petani, located in Kefalonia, Greece, is a charming pebble beach nestled amidst lush green hills. The beach boasts crystal-clear waters and sun loungers for visitors to relax on. While it may not be as secluded as some other beaches, it offers a serene atmosphere with the option to enjoy delicious seafood at nearby restaurants like Erasmia's tavern. Visitors can also catch a breathtaking sunset and should be cautious of potentially strong waves near the beachfront.
umbrellas at €15 per set. it’s a very nice beach with spectacular view. Very good restaurants. good bars with excellent coffee. You can find free parking until 9 o’clock after that you have two or three private parking spots and after that you can park on the road, but it’s quite a walk to the beach.

Very pretty on the eye. Sunbeds starts at €12. North side it's more stony other slightly better. Lunch was nice. It's quite a busy beach when we expect to be secluded. But yes it's pretty...

Amazing beach but need to check the wind before you go as the waves can be very dangerous! We all swim a lot but the day we went it had wind and the waves were crazy even if you were standing outside!! Otherwise the beach is amazing and the sea deepens fast!
Alex K — Google review
Beautiful beach, especially for sunset. Waves can get pretty rough with ripcurrents in some spots, but the waves are fun. Nice couple of restaurants. Beautiful views driving in and out of the coastline.
Jimi D — Google review
Absolutely stunning beach with crystal clear waters and a beautiful mix of white pebbles and soft sand. Perfect for swimming, relaxing, and soaking up the natural beauty—pure bliss!
Danilo O — Google review
Petani Beach is a beautiful spot with stunning sunset views. The water is an incredible shade of blue. There are some rocks in the water, so water shoes might be helpful. The beach is equipped with sunbeds (around €12–15), but there are also free areas where you can lay your towel directly on the sand. We highly recommend exploring the far right side of the beach. Tucked away there is a secluded, wild little cove framed by dramatic cliffs — a hidden gem that makes you feel like you have the beach entirely to yourself. The water in this area was so crystal clear and inviting that we didn’t want to leave.
Diana B — Google review
Very beautiful place, it has a combination of white pebbles and soft sand. The water is crystal clear. The beach bar has great food. You can park for free on the side of the road and then walk for 5-10 minutes. A set of 2 sunbeds & umbrella is 15€.

To me, this is the most beautiful beach on the island. It's stunning both in the morning and worth staying in the afternoon to watch the sunset. The water is crystal clear, even in the evening. Great for snorkeling. The beach is covered with fine, shiny pebbles. There are a few cafés, but also plenty of free space. A perfect 10 from me.

Antisamos beach is a picturesque cove with turquoise waters nestled between two wooded headlands. It's famous for its peacock-feather emerald and royal-blue waters, making it a beautiful swimming spot. The beach was featured in the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and its clear, balmy shallows are perfect for snorkeling.
Really good beach with turquoise clean waters. The beach bars rules about the sunbeds and umbrellas vary - some ask for minimum spend per set (40 to 30 euro) while others have restrictions. Beach shoes are recommended although not absolutely necessary.
Ivan F — Google review
Very nice beach. If you’re lucky, you can spot plenty of fish. However, there are also quite a lot of wasps—more than you usually see on other beaches in Kefalonia. We had brought some fruit with us, but we couldn’t eat it because the wasps started gathering. I even got stung by one
Diana C — Google review
I really enjoyed this place! The view is beautiful, the drink service is great, and the beach is perfect even for non-swimmers since the water isn’t steep. Many people mention the wasps, but they’re just part of nature — you get used to them after a while. The sunbeds are free as long as you order from Acron Bar. The staff never pressured us about how much to order, which made the experience even more relaxing. We simply chose the sunbeds we liked, ordered a few beers and cocktails, and enjoyed that perfect vacation feeling: sitting back with a book while someone brings you your favorite drinks. Prices seemed reasonable to us, though “high” and “low” can mean different things to different people, so it’s best to check the menu first. If the sea is calm, you’ll see plenty of fish gathering around you — they don’t bite or bother you, it’s just fun to watch them swim by. Another thing I loved is that it’s a stone beach rather than sand. You stay clean, with no sand sticking to your feet or ending up in the car or hotel room. Swimming shoes can make walking more comfortable, but they’re not absolutely necessary if you don’t mind going barefoot. All in all, it’s a lovely spot to relax, swim, and enjoy drinks by the sea. Highly recommend!
Scripcaru A — Google review
Antisamos Beach is often promoted as one of the top ten beaches in the world. While it is undoubtedly beautiful, I personally wouldn’t place it among the world’s absolute best. It’s certainly worth a visit, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression strong enough to make me want to return. The beach features white pebbles, which give the water a striking turquoise-blue color, especially near the shore. However, just a few meters after entering the water, it drops off into deep sea quite abruptly, so most people stay and swim within the first 10 meters of the shoreline. Along the beach, there are several restaurants that advertise “free sunbeds and free parking.” This, however, comes with fine print — the sunbeds are only “free” if you spend a minimum of €30–€45, depending on the establishment. It’s important to ask for the exact conditions upfront to avoid surprises. There is also a section of the beach with paid sunbeds that cost €15–€20 per set, without any consumption required. And finally, there’s a public area where you can bring your own umbrella and towel, but keep in mind that the pebbles here are quite large and rough, which makes it less comfortable for lying down without proper padding. For those who enjoy watersports, the far end of the beach offers a variety of guided water sports activities, which adds some excitement to the overall experience. All in all, Antisamos Beach is lovely to see and worth visiting once, especially for the vivid water color and mountain backdrop. But with the crowds, pricing conditions, and lack of comfort in the public section, it doesn’t quite live up to the global hype in my view. At the end Of this review I must underline my nightmare of this beach- wasps, there are thousands of them and they are very annoying.

Very good value, great parking, super beach, clear calm water, free sun beds and great service. Two of us - 3 big beers, fanta and a small meal for 2 all for €45. Definitely the best beach we visited in the island.
David T — Google review
The beach was amazing - the water crystal clear and sunbeds and changing facilities abound. There’s a restaurant that has a variety of foods and desserts and they bring it right to your sunbed. The road to get there is a spiral wind but definetly worth it. We spent a memorable day there and didn’t want to leave.
Debbie Z — Google review
Beautiful beach, with fine pebbles in some parts and larger ones in others. The water is clean, clear, and great for snorkeling. There are showers, sunbeds, but also plenty of free space.
Nadja — Google review
Amazing beach! Clear turquoise water, pebbles on the beach itself, breathtaking views both from the way to the beach and the water itself. Prices for bed rental were standard (15 euro for 2 beds and an umbrella). The cocktails at the beach bar were nice (if a bit pricey).

Melissani Cave, located just a couple of kilometers outside of Sami in Kefalonia, is a must-visit attraction. The cave features a striking lake with crystalline waters that visitors can explore by boat. The sun's rays shining down on the intricate stalactites create a mesmerizing sight as they reflect off the clear waters. The cave's glowing lagoon is particularly beautiful when illuminated by the early morning or evening sun pouring through the natural skylight.
Melissani Cave is a beautiful underground lake in Kefalonia, perfect for exploring and photography. Full video of my visit is on my YouTube channel. More photos on Instagram @ss_magic_photo_video More videos from Kefalonia on my YouTube channel: @ssmagic1876

The colors of the water are not exactly like in the pictures you see on the internet... We went at 10 a.m. and it wasn’t too crowded. The boat ride takes only 3 minutes, and during that time, because of the large number of people on the boat, you don’t really have the chance to take photos or properly capture the moment. The price is €10 for adults and €5 for children.
Stefan S — Google review
Melissani Cave is undeniably a natural wonder and well worth a visit, earning a solid four stars from me. The cave is absolutely stunning, especially when the sun's rays penetrate the open roof, illuminating the incredibly clear, turquoise waters with a surreal, glowing effect. It's truly mesmerizing to glide across the water in the small boats, and our guide did a good job explaining the cave's history, including how it's named after the nymph Melissani, who, according to myth, drowned herself here out of unrequited love for Pan. The story adds a layer of mystical allure to an already magical place. However, while the beauty is undeniable, the experience itself is quite brief. The boat ride around the cave lasts only about five to ten minutes, which, for the price of admission, feels a bit short. This brings me to my main caveat: it absolutely does not worth waiting for hours in a queue to experience this. We saw incredibly long lines, and for a five-minute ride, that kind of wait would severely diminish the enjoyment. My advice is to try and visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid peak times. If you can get in with a reasonable wait, Melissani Cave is a uniquely beautiful place to witness nature's artistry. Just manage your expectations regarding the duration of the visit and you'll be captivated.
Ioannis — Google review
Melissani Lake is one of the most magical places in Kefalonia, a cave with an underground lake where the crystal-clear waters glow in shades of blue and green as sunlight pours through the open roof. The boat ride is short but very charming, and the rowers often sing during the journey, which creates a special atmosphere. At the end, however, they do expect tips and may offer to take photos for the same reason—something to keep in mind. To reach the boats, you need to go down about 30 steps and then walk roughly 200 meters through a descending tunnel inside the cave. It’s very important to arrive early, because when several cruise ships are in port, the lines can get very long and the wait may be close to an hour before entering. I recommend bringing water and an umbrella, since the queue is often under the sun and the heat can be strong. Despite the wait, the experience is absolutely worth it, especially around midday when the sunlight makes the water shine at its best.
Jose M — Google review
One of a kind experience! We arrived and queued for about 20-30 mins from beginning to being in the boat. Tickets 10 euro each. This is at 11am, the whole thing lasted ab 10 mins, you can leave a tip if you want to the boat guy, ours was really fun- took a picture of every one of us on the boat separately, there were about 3-4 more boats. Unfortunately the view from top was closed.
Petya K — Google review
Melissani Cave is a stunning must-see in Kefalonia! The water's vivid blue color is breathtaking, appearing almost glowing. Inside, you'll see bats flying overhead and may even spot electric eels swimming below, creating a magical atmosphere. The tour lasts about 15 minutes, led by a local guide who rows the boat and shares interesting tidbits without a lengthy lecture. Don’t be discouraged by a long line at the ticket office—multiple boats operate simultaneously, so the wait goes by quickly. This stop offers a serene break from the beach, making it a highly recommended experience!
Alex R — Google review
Beautiful place with history. But you queue for 10-30 minutes, walk down a set of steps and a ramp, hop into a boat, have a 10 min tour and then you are done. It’s €10 per person and is worth seeing but do not plan for it to be a half day out as it’s only a short stop. Parking is free and toilets in the car park
Bryony W — Google review
Beautiful! Such a cool unexpected place. 10€ per adult. We got there around 10:30, no queues. Boat ride included.

Xi Beach

Xi Beach is a unique destination with its red-sand beach and white clay cliffs, creating a surreal landscape. The dark brown-red sand contrasts beautifully with the turquoise waters and reddish clay formations in the rocks. This beach offers more than just stunning views; visitors can enjoy swimming in the clear waters and even experience a natural spa treatment. For those seeking relaxation, there are rentable chairs available as well as nearby eateries and bars to indulge in local cuisine.
Awesome beach! Pretty long so always possible to find your own spot. Walk down to the clay sand area for some nutrient-rich clay that is good for your skin. Plenty of bars/restaurants for day beers and food. Try to avoid peak times for bus tours or when the nearby resorts are busiest.
Jimi D — Google review
Beautiful beach with red sand/soil and clay walls that you can apply it on your skin 😉. The bars close to the beach offer an umbrella with two sunbeds for 20€, but they don't offer services on the beach, I had to go at the bar to order. I would not pay this amount of money with no service on the beach.
Theodore I — Google review
nice beach (Red one) not beautiful as Petani beach but here u can find 2 very lovely restaurant bar: Alaya and Baywatch (not to miss at sunset dinner time; but unfortunately Alaya no offer fresh fish menu 😳😒
Stranomondo A — Google review
Xi Beach on Kefalonia is truly a one-of-a-kind destination, and it absolutely deserves a five-star review! From the moment you set foot on its distinctive reddish sand, you know you're in for something special. What really sets Xi Beach apart is its incredible natural feature: the clay cliffs. This isn't just a pretty backdrop; it's an interactive, natural spa experience! You can easily collect handfuls of the soft, grey clay from along the shore, mix it with a little seawater, and spread it over your skin. It's an invigorating and fun activity, and your skin feels wonderfully smooth and refreshed afterwards – a truly unique and free beauty treatment! Beyond the amazing clay, the beach itself is simply stunning. The shallow, calm waters stretch far out, making it perfect for families with young children or anyone who enjoys a leisurely dip. The contrast of the striking red sand against the crystal-clear turquoise Ionian Sea is absolutely breathtaking, especially as the sun begins to set. Xi Beach also strikes a perfect balance between natural beauty and convenience. There are well-organized sections with sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as charming beach bars and tavernas serving delicious local fare. For those seeking a bit more adventure, water sports are readily available. Yet, the beach is long enough that you can easily find a quieter spot if you prefer.
Ioannis — Google review
Doesn’t recommend anyone here as it is not red at all. Definitely not. Not even pink. It is just yellowish sand where you see everywhere . waste of my 60 euro to come here( cost of whole family ferry and taxi return)
Noah C — Google review
This reddish sand ⏳ beach has Close parking area that makes this beach 🏖️ ideal for all ages. It's possible to cover your body with clay that's melting in your hands. There's a saying that it makes you look younger - it didn't work on me. The only negative side was a lot of plastic bottles and other garbage left by the beach side as you might see 🙈 in my pictures. It seems like it might be from previous garbage 🗑️ dump but that's only my opinion.
Pavel P — Google review
A very beautiful and quiet beach. The red sand was very good and gave the beach a beauty. There was also the other part with limestone that was a cure for the body. You just have to be careful because a small part could break off. There was also a sign to guide you. The beach was very good even for small children. Parking was free. There was also an umbrella for those who didn't have one with them, but I don't know the price because I didn't need it.
Krenar G — Google review
Water filled with vegetation in different plastics thrown is by tourists. Beach is narrow it fits 1 lane of sunbeds. Water is not deep, can be ok for kids to play in the sand and enjoy water. Nothing much to do and se around though.

Makris Gialos Beach is a picturesque sandy stretch with calm aqua waters and stunning views. It's an ideal spot for families, offering comfy lounge chairs for rent. The name translates to 'long sandy beach,' perfectly capturing its serene atmosphere. Visitors can bask in the warm Mediterranean sun or find shade under umbrellas while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, and the sand is soft and clean. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it ideal for a peaceful day at the beach, yet still lively enough to enjoy a fun day in the sun.
Nevena M — Google review
Nice sandy beach, cristal clear water and sun-beds options - cafe area with paid sun-beds or public beach area where you can use your own umbrellas. This is one of the most crowded beach but you can always find a spot. Water sports are also possible option here.
Alex R — Google review
Hands down our favourite spot of the whole holiday — honestly one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever been to! The sand is soft and lovely (though fair warning, it does get scorching hot in peak sunshine!), and the water is absolutely crystal clear. I’m usually a bit hesitant about swimming in the sea, but I felt so confident here because the water was so clear and calm — you could see everything around you. It made for such a relaxing swim. The beach itself was clean, spacious, and never felt overcrowded. There were several shaded areas available too, which is great if you don’t have your own umbrella. One of the best parts is the convenience — there are three beachside bars/restaurants right there, plus a water sports provider if you’re feeling adventurous. The clear waters also made for perfect snorkelling — we saw loads of little fish without having to go far at all.
Olivia I — Google review
A small but nice beach with crystal clear waters and fine sand hidden in a bay with a beach bar with parking nearby. It is a well-sheltered beach where you can walk peacefully when strong winds blow on the island, it is only slightly affected by waves due to the bay and the huge rocks in the water on the side of the beach
Liviu H — Google review
Beautiful beach! Long stretch of sand, plenty of spaces to lie down in peace. Sand had good fine coarseness to it and was clean. Nice couple of restaurants for a bite/Cafe if you want to save money from the sunbeds.
Jimi D — Google review
Crystal clear water, shallow and ideal for families and young children, sandy beach. Sand can get very hot, so take flip flops/shoes. Plenty of car parking at the top and the steps down are not too steep, but can be a bit sandy/slippy. Loads of sun beds and parasols to choose from at ok prices and there is a large section where you can lay towels and take umbrellas. Several public toilets and a couple of beach bars which are great for snacks and drinks - prices are quite high though. Overall a great beach and facilities.
Ben — Google review
Clean beach with little to no wasps. There’s plenty of parking and it’s easy to walk around. The water is crystal clear and not crowded at all. The service at the beach bar is a bit lacking though the staff can sometimes come across as grumpy, and the prices for food and drinks are quite high. €20 for a chicken sandwich with fries and around €8 for a beer. Soft drinks were about €3.50. Renting the sunbeds is also rather expensive. In October we paid €30 for two beds and an umbrella. So if you come often, that can add up. There’s also a very cute orange cat wandering around. He likes to lie in the shade near you, but be careful, he tends to scratch if you try to pet him!
Ferdi — Google review
This is a truly superb beach. The water is crystal clear and it is isnt a huge walk from the main road. Plenty of car parking for scooters and cars. We were only staying about a 10 minute walk from the beach and it was perfect for anyone staying at san lorenzo village or within that area. We never bothered with getting any sun loungers. Plenty of room for you to bring your umbrellas to enjoy the day. Supermarkey sells them for €20 which is a short walk. Zorbas restaurant also do takeaways to bring down. Honestly a fantastic beach.

It offers sunbeds and umbrellas for a reasonable price, making it an affordable choice for a day of relaxation. The beach also provides amenities such as showers, changing cubicles, and a beach bar. Additionally, it's conveniently located near the airport, allowing visitors to enjoy the unique experience of watching planes land while soaking up the sun.
Lovely little beach. Sun beds and parasol available (20 Euros in 2025). A shower and WC and a little changing booth. Lovely bay and safe swimming. Crystal clear water. Well worth a visit. Parking at the top of the slope.

Apart from the views of the landing planes, not really impressive. It says it's a Blue Flag beach which means it has to have a toilet as well, but I failed to spot one. Overpriced - two sunbeds and umbrella 20EUR in June 2025.
Ivan F — Google review
Such a nice beach. Sunbeds 20 euro for 2 for the day. Does get busy but we always got a sunbed. Just a walk up the slope to Fishcat taverna to have a snack and drink. Sea really clean and warm.

the beach🏖🏊‍♂️ is close to the airport and you can admire the planes landing, there is a bar ☕️🍹🍸👌🫶 showers and parking

Great beach, can get crowded in peak season. A good place for the waves, lifeguard on duty. A pair of sun beds and parasol, €20 a day. Pricey but worth it. If you have kids, take a pop up tent to save money. There is a toilet at the far end of the beach, a basic changing cubicle and shower as you enter to the beach. Photo from the evening, with the airport in the back background - it was an experience to have airplanes landing above your head!
Lee M — Google review
20 euros for two beds and an umbrella. Absolutely ridiculous for the state of the beach and the amenities. No bar, the beds are in horrible condition and the only two toilets are in the corner of the beach, smelly and dirty.
Irina D — Google review
We enjoyed very much the place, beautiful very soft sand, clear waters, waves, and on the top the plsin arriving directly against you as if it's going to land exactly upon you, as the airport is only 100 meters from there. It was great fun, though the smell after the plain was nasty.
Vessela S — Google review
A nice sandy beach, beds with parasols were €20 for 2. There is a changing hut and shower when you get off the beach. The nearest toilets are in a restaurant over the road. There are rocks off to the left side of the beach that are good for snorkeling.

Skala Beach is a popular destination in Kefalonia, known for its long sandy shoreline and scenic views. It's advisable to arrive early, especially during peak months like July and August when it tends to get crowded. The beach is a haven for water sports enthusiasts, offering opportunities for activities such as diving with trained instructors, jet skiing, and donut rides behind speedboats. Additionally, the area boasts various tourist facilities including restaurants, taverns, and shops.
Happy to choose this place for my vacation in 2025. Not busy, good bars on the beach. Recommend for families. Many options to spend time, water sports, daily cruises or just enjoy sun and sea.

Clean and quiet beach. Sand! Not rocks. Chairs with umbrellas to let. Not much parking. The water is beautiful.
Elizabeth B — Google review
This is for the south nudist section of Scala around the large rocks. Mid Sept and and the beach was great. Late Sept 2025 and the beach was getting pretty well destroyed by the storm. Was small pebbles and loads of fish for snorkelling. Also easy to swim around to Spithi and Λουτράκι Παραλία FKK the next beach along which are both nudist. Spithi is not good but Λουτράκι Παραλία FKK is huge and great. Those are quite difficult to get to direct as the car parking is severely limited.
MARTIN C — Google review
Long beach clear water stones and sand mostly stones. You'll need water shoes as its very stoney. But it's a beautiful beach we just laid our towel on stones and sat Dippin feet. Skala is a long beach so plenty of space you can hire deck chairs or sunbeds and umbrella if you wish. You can sit close to or far away from water sports the 1 place on beach for watersports is amazing and super friendly. No pressure from them either if u do sit close by.
Donaldson F — Google review
Lovely beach, would recommend sea shoes as it stoney!! But once tour in its ok, it's also a bit of a drop off, 6 feet in and your chest deep. But still lovely
John G — Google review
Beautiful beach with a relaxed vibe — I stayed at the 9 Musses Hotel beach, where a set (2 sunbeds and a large umbrella) goes for €12. The water was refreshing but not too cold, and while water shoes aren’t a must, they could come in handy since the beach is a mix of small rocks and sand. The beach bar menu had all the classics you’d expect, and I’d personally recommend the Margarita pizza — simple and tasty. Prices were very reasonable. It’s a great spot to spend the day soaking up the sun, and if you feel like grabbing dinner or going for a nice stroll, the charming town of Skala is just above the beach, offering a lovely walking area and plenty of restaurants to explore.

The Roman Villa of Skala, located just outside the town, offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient life. Despite its small size, the site boasts remarkably well-preserved mosaics depicting scenes from daily life dating back around 2000 years. Visitors are impressed by the meticulous care taken to maintain the villa and its surroundings. The pathway leading to the villa adds an authentic touch to the experience.
A must see, so well maintained and very affordable. Truly amazing how this is well over 2000 years old. We accessed it from beach, and parked on a grassy area. Only 3 euro and Kids go free.

Very interesting to see this Roman villa from over 2000 years ago. 6 rooms to see so only a quick visit required. Sign said open at 8.30 but at 9am there was no sign of anyone so I had to go back later. Right in Skala so worth a quick trip. It's closed on Wednesday and shuts around 3.30. Entry was €5.

Whilst unique to the island and beautiful, it is extremely difficult to get to if you have a pram, pushchair, or small children. The path is actually a rock climbing event to get to it

Went twice when it was supposed to be open, but on both times there was nobody in the entrance booth. You can still see some of the mosaics over the fence.

Not worth spending the money, visiting takes 3 minutes and the entrance is 5€. Nothing special, some ruins are visible over the fence

If in Skala this villa is worth a visit. It's a tiny archaeological site but mosaics are astonishing, also considering they were done roughly 2000years ago. I was also impressed by the gardener who was taking care of the site under a hot sun! In order to preserve places like this, maybe it would be useful to pay a ticket.

We have been visiting this charming cantina for many years now..we walk all the way from Katelios just so we can have lunch here. The Greek salad is lovely and the kind lady owner doesn't mind me swapping the Feta which I am not keen on to an hard cheese...the chips are home made and taste great....All the food that we have had over the years has been lovely. Basic facilities in apartment, great location, quiet village with selection of restaurants 5 mins walks away. Nice place to get away from all the hussle & bussle. Beach is lovely with not many people on it. Views of the mountains too. Car possible needed to explore.

Room with bad power connectivity, ancient and noisy AC unit, garden furniture inside the room and the bare minimum cutleries in a glass. Ground floor studio is promoted with a "Sea view", but instead your view is fields and weeds. In order to see a small part of the sea you have to stand up at a specific location. The accomodation is in the middle nowhere, access is via an old agricultural gravel road (walking is not advised) and the beach is around 200 meters away. The building has power issues (blackout affecting only the residency) and the AC failed twice during the heatwave, so we lost an entire night of sleep as we woke up sweating and barely breathing from the heat. The place should be renamed to "Fields appartments" instead of "Beach appartments". No value for money, location is bad, we booked other accomodations west from there with better views, facilities and service.

We spent 10 nights at this wonderful family owned hotel. We were a group of 5 families with 12 children and we always felt like at home and were treated exceptionally by the staff. Rooms were cleaned regularly, food at the restaurant was delicious and also the best price in Kato Katelios. There are things that can be improved like a bit of redesign in bathrooms or being a little faster in the restaurant (specially in the morning), but overall this was a perfect vacation. The beach next to hotel is.perfect for swimming but has no sun beds. We went to Kaminia beach which is 15 minutes walk to east on the rocks, 25 min swimming or 7 minutes with a car. Thanks again for the welcoming hosts.

The port it’s huge, lot’s of fishing ships there but what about Levante ferries ?! ONE OF THE BEST ferries I have ever been with ! Around 300cars in and out in about 30min. And the interior if I might say it’s a luxuriant one for a ferry

Small chaotic ferry port, no signs so careful attention, handling is nice and quick though friendly staff

Xigia Sulfur Beach

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Xigia Sulfur Beach is a unique and lesser-known destination in the north of Zakynthos. The beach is renowned for its striking shades of blue and white, attributed to the presence of sulfurous water with supposed healing powers. It's a small beach with limited sunbeds, so arriving early is essential to secure a spot.
A small but beautiful beach with crystal clear water. The sea gets deep quite quickly, and because the beach is small, it’s best to come early if you want to get a spot. I also recommend bringing water shoes for extra comfort.
Carina-Ioana S — Google review
There is a parking lot above the beach. It costs €5 for two hours and €7 for a full day. The beach itself is very small, with some pebbles mixed in the sand, so water shoes are recommended. The water starts getting deeper about 3 meters from the shore, but it doesn’t get too deep, making it great for swimming. I visited this place twice because I enjoyed it so much. On the left side of the beach, there is a small cave and some rocks, which make a great photo spot. There is a slight sulfur smell in the water, similar to the scent of eggs, but it wasn’t bothersome.
따개캔 — Google review
Do not recommend. You have to spend 5€ for parking which is quite weird since other places on the island are free. The beach is very small and full of people. We're here in October and it's impossible to get in and find a place so image the high season... There are lots of beautiful beaches so it doesn't worth it to spend money for this.
Joyce L — Google review
Let's talk about this beach, unique in the island, like any other beach, but the leitmotive of this one is the presence of sulphur... You can smell it you can taste it. The main problems are the little space available and the rudeness if some people who come there. It's difficult to lay on your towel cause you have just 20 metres and something more in lenght but just 5 metres deep from the wall of stone to the sea, moreover you find ten sunbeds, owned by the local bar that occupy big part of the beach(I will not talk about the bar here cause I don't want to miss the point). Last but not least you have to be careful about the garbage unpolite people leave on the shore. Unfortunately the minimum size and the massive presence of people bring to a crowdy and dirty beach. That's a pity for a so unique wonderful landscape. There is a small park above the beach, you pay 7 euro for the entire day or 5 euro for two hours. Consider it like a tip.
Lorenzo F — Google review
There’s some limited street parking, as well as a car park available at €5 for 2 hours or €7 for the day. The beach itself is quite small, with lots of rocks and pebbles, more suited for a quick swim than a full day of lounging. It can get overcrowded, with little to no space to lie down and relax. There’s a slight sulphur smell in the water, similar to rotten eggs, but it’s not too strong. Despite that, we really enjoyed our visit and would recommend stopping by.
Sarah O — Google review
4 stars – turquoise wellness with a whiff of sulfur This place looks like a postcard come to life: turquoise-blue water, dramatic cliffside views, and the feeling of bathing in nature’s own spa. Yes, there’s a distinct smell of sulfur – like boiled eggs left out too long – but that’s part of the charm. Your skin will thank you afterwards. The beach is quite small and can get crowded quickly, so come early in the morning or later in the evening. Avoid weekends if you’re after some peace and quiet. The parking up top is well-organized, and the staff were surprisingly friendly and helpful. Just a heads-up: there’s little to no shade and no real spots to stash your things. Bring water, sun protection, and maybe a towel or mat to sit on. All in all, a unique swim spot that’s perfect for both relaxation and great vacation photos.
Xyz F — Google review
One star just because the peculiar experience gave me a big laugh ! Desperate attempt to hype up a tiny shady little corner of sand and make a fortune from parking fees.. The Car Park is bigger than the beach ! Apparently it is a Spa with Sulfur and COLLAGEN ! (see my photo of the entrance) Previously I have only come across collagen as an Animal product made from processing animal carcasses after the meat is used. Here it runs from the cliff this must truly be a miracle. ( It looks like a kind of ochre clay shown in my other picture) Go to a nice beach instead there are plenty of them and with nice perfect clear water not full of suspended particles like here.
Sally P — Google review
This beach is really amazing! Even though the smell is a little bit unpleasant, the views are incredible. You cand explore even the surroundings by swimming or with the SUP because there are nice big caves!

Unfortunately, the beach itself is no longer accessible, but you can still visit it as part of a boat tour. The water has a stunning color and is incredibly clear, making it a truly beautiful place to see and enjoy.
Levente M — Google review
The beach is beautiful with crystal blue waters and white sand, but it's totally overrated. Also, there are minimum 5 boats in the bay at every time. Since 2024, there are regulations from the Greek Government to not let anyone go on the beach or swim nearby because of falling cliffs (and you can see rocks that fell on the beach on the sides). You can only stay on the boat as they will turn for 15 minutes in the bay, then go to another spot if they have swimming spots included.
Ana-Maria A — Google review
Always wanted to see this since I was a kid. Finally nice to have ticked it off. Shipwreck is cool but the amount of tourists is insane. Do prepare yourself for that. Best to hire your own boat for the trip as it will be more enjoyable. I would do that next time.
Tai T — Google review
Lovely viewpoint, very small area open to be able to take a picture. The queue for the viewpoint platform took about 40 mins. They are doing work in the area so may be better next year. Well worth the wait though, probably best to see from a boat tour.
Mary W — Google review
The place is must see. The contrast between the turquoise water, the white cliffs and the iconic shipwreck creates an unforgettable view
Kamila S — Google review
Iconic place, a must see both from the sea and the viewpoint. Closed to public from 2023 due to limestone landslide, no access to it by car, the viewpoint gets a bit busy, it’s a 10 min walk to the furthest point. Views are incredible. Mind the hike back up, it’s a paved but quite steep, can get kinda hard in the heat. Mind the shadow/sun on the beach for good pics. Water photos taken at 11:20am early June. Viewpoint photos taken 2:30pm. There’s also a military base nearby & you can see F16 flying around super low to the water - spectacular sight
Lolita M — Google review
This famous cove can only be reached by boat, and you cannot go ashore because of the shipwreck remains on the beach. Still, the view of the dramatic cliffs and turquoise water is absolutely breathtaking, and swimming in the crystal-clear sea right from the boat is an unforgettable experience. It is definitely a tourist hotspot and can get very crowded, as it’s one of the most iconic places in Zakynthos. Despite that, the scenery is so unique that it’s worth seeing at least once. Floating in the water with the shipwreck and cliffs in the background is something you won’t easily forget. A good tip is to visit during the week rather than weekends, as it tends to be slightly less busy. There are no facilities here, so come prepared — but that’s part of the adventure. Overall, a must-see location in Zakynthos for the incredible views and experience in the water.
Baran Z — Google review
It's definitely a must-see, but it's impossible to reach by land. The stunning color of the sea and the ship create a wonderful blend. However, going to the beach and swimming in this area is dangerous and forbidden because rocks can fall from the mountains. But I definitely recommend visiting by boat to see the scenery.

Totally forgive you for Wednesday. Awesome day with Renata boats. Just five people on board, taken to the best uncrowded places, some fishing along the way and an hour stop for lunch at paradise pool. Again thank you, your really made our day. Back for another trip to the south. Another awesome day thanks to Balas. These two trips were the highlights of our Zakinthos holiday.

We saw Renata boats tours on Google Maps and read all the comments here, so we decided to book a boat trip. I can recommend Renata boats to everyone who stays on zakynthos!! Renata and her husband are so friendly, she brought us fresh fig fruits from her brother (so delicious) and water and lemonades are free during the trip. We also saw beautiful places where we were able to swim and snorkel. If you come to zakynthos island you have to take the boat trip with renata, you will not regret it!
Peter U — Google review
We had a great experience with the Team of Renata aboard her small boat around the Zakyntos Island. The Team was great, many thanks to "Kosta" who provided outstanding explanation, showed the best places around the island, dive with us in a cave, and provided very good comments to all the locations we visited. However, I cannot give 5 stars due to the organization of the trip, which was not in the hand of the Team, but arranged by the Renata's partner. When I booked the trip, the manager arranged and promised for a 5 hours trip, with a fixed amount each (we are family of 5, 2 adults and three kids) for 65,00 euro for adults and kids at the age of 8 or older. I paid what was agreed by phone, but the trip took one hour less. When I asked for reimbursement, the manager replied that due to the closure of the shipwreck beach, the trip took one hour less. The closure of the beach happened two months before our trip, and he did not mention this, and he did not arranged something else before we started. One more, the payment was due by cash and not receipt was provided us. I raise my complain, because the got payment in black. I advice to clarify everything before you go, or perhaps choose another team. There are plenty and Renata's organization is not anymore what was at the beginning, they are common trip boat like others on the island. I am afraid for the Captain who was great, but the organizer are very bad!!!!!

Amazing people to deal with - they treated us like family. The boat tour to the Ship Wreck beach and blue caves was amazing. Renata was on board with us - She was wonderful and offered to click our pictures at every opportunity (some of the pics she clicked were fabulous). During the trip they shared fun facts about the place. We had to go their place first, park our car and then go down to the boarding point in their car. After the trip, they brought us back to their place, and showed us around their farms and vineyards - it was beautiful, later they even offered to us some of their personally made wines. As a parting gift, Renata gave us some home-grown gifts - a bottle of olive oil, a jar of salt and another jar of sweet made from one of the local fruit. We will always cherish this experience for the rest of our lives - it was unforgettable !!

These guys are amazing! The will make sure you will see everything and that you will have an amazing time! Don't go to the other boat tour people in that port they are very rude and boring. Renata made us feel like friends and we had an unforgettable experience with her and her husband. You will not regret choosing them.

Kalamaki Beach Hotel on Zakynthos Island is a serene beachfront property with an outdoor pool, restaurant, and bar. The beach is located in a protected area next to Laganas, making it a popular spot for snorkeling. The National Marine Park of Zakynthos was established to preserve the coastal area and provide a safe nesting place for Caretta caretta turtles.
Fantastic hotel. It's very clean ,the cleaners are in your room everyday. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had was nice it had a balcony overlooking the hills .The pool bar is a great place to stay during the day it has great staff. The food from here is brilliant.

Very clean hotel. Receptionist very helpful. Staff lovely in general. Excellent warm pool and another smaller one for kids although too deep really. Bar at the pool was great and there's another by the beach, again Excellent. Rooms are not overly sized but fine really and modern with a decent sized bathroom and balcony. Bad points : We were greeted on arrival with the climate charge which is now €5 instead of €3 per night. Then we were asked if we wanted air-conditioning on which was another €8 per night. As if that wasn't enough there's another €3 per night if you want the use of the safe !! So a ten night holiday had an extra charge of €160. Want to pay even more ? The parasols and sunbeds in the grounds of the hotel look lovely don't they? If you want to use them there's another €15 charge per day making a total of €310 added to your holiday. When I booked this hotel I assumed I booked a room and hotel with the use of what's in it! The sunbeds on the beach are €20 but to charge for them is acceptable and normal. Such a shame they feel they need to charge like that as the hotel is nice in a great location.

Great hotel!! I would rate it 4 stars instead of 3, breakfast is very extended, really nice staff. Sofia at the reception is a lovely warm welcoming person. The hotel is next to the beach which is sand beach so great. Really nice vibe, no music at the pool which we liked and no entertainment so a nice quiet hotel. Everything super clean! Only bed matrasses could be better, they were really hard.

Brilliant hotel right on the beach. Breakfast was a good spread. Pools are great, beach bar is good. Only thing that one needs to be aware of is that the airport is right behind the hotel over the road, so all day and up to about 10pm you have landing and taking off planes coming over super low.

Yvonne O — Google review
I stayed at this hotel for just one night, and overall, it was a decent experience. One of the biggest advantages was its great location, especially for travelers — it’s very close to the airport, which made getting there super convenient. While you can hear the sound of planes taking off, I found it surprisingly non-disruptive and easy to tune out. However, the room was quite small, which could be uncomfortable for longer stays or if you’re traveling with a lot of luggage. For a short stay like mine, though, it was manageable and served its purpose well. If you’re looking for a place near the airport for a quick overnight stop, this hotel is a convenient and acceptable choice.

Banana Beach, located on the Vasilikos Peninsula in Zakynthos, is a popular destination for vacationers of all ages. It offers ideal conditions for families, water sports enthusiasts, and those seeking vibrant beach parties. The well-developed infrastructure and natural beauty make it the perfect place for a true beach holiday.
Banana Beach has the softest golden sand. We visited in mid May before the season so it was really peaceful with only a few people there. Loungers are €15 - €25 for 2 for the day, worth it. The restaurant at the top of the beach has great staff and good selection of food and drinks and we could order drinks from the lounger. A wonderful lazy day on a stunning beach with the clearest crystal water.

Free parking onsite with very comfortable beach chairs for rent. There is also a free section. Showers, changing rooms, toilets and beach bar onsite as well. They differ in price from back to front of beach. We paid 25€ for a set of two chairs with umbrella, which is more or less the current going rate throughout the Ionian as we visited both in Lefkada and Kefalonia as well. Food and service were great and reasonably priced compared to other beach bars. The water is shallow and very warm so perfect if you want to bring kids or a family. There was nice music and vibes as well. Would recommend visiting! Corina took great care of us.

Very nice and cosy place! There's music, but not too loud. There are lot of people, but we could always get sunbeds and umbrella, despite on other beaches. The prices are moderate, the stuff is always available and very friendly. Our favourite on Zante. 😍

A stunning beach and well worth its award. Sunbeds are 10 euros each but are so comfortable and come with waitress service to them. Had 2 great days here which included food and drinks. Well worth a visit.
Andrew R — Google review
Nice, clear and clean water. Good service and very fast, the food was also very good for a beach! Sunbed pricing is based on distance from water - starting at €30 next to the water, all the way down to €20 further away. There might be a minimum consumption per person, of about €10-€15 per person, but if you get food, there’s no problem in getting to this. Overall, great experience, no wonder it’s one of the most popular ones on the island.
Dan-Andrei A — Google review
Nice place and beach. Need to take you waters shoo with you. It’s small stones in the beginning of the water and later sandy. Good beds. Approx 20 euro,s per set in the back and 30 more near the water. Nice bar and drinks. A bid on the price but you get nice service in return. The restaurant is also good. Had the club sandwich and was great. Like this place a lot!

Nice sandy beach with fine, clear water. You have organized beach - like classy Banana casa playa (beach bar) with their sevice, wi-fi, ATM, parking place with roof... If you are more ascetic type, you have wild beach beside. Public KTEL bus could bring you to the beach which is friendly to disable person. On the beach is service of water sports. I have very enjoyed this beach, so absolutely recommend you to visit it.
Uros K — Google review
Heavenly place, the bay is great, sand, there is natural shade and nice sun loungers. A great place to watch the sunset. Access is only a 15 minute walk from the bus stop or parking lot. The restaurant is quite mediocre and expensive.

Laganas Beach in Zakynthos is a 7-kilometer long sandy beach, perfect for sunbathing and water sports. The shallow, crystal clear waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, with the chance to spot loggerhead turtles. There are plenty of sunbeds available for relaxation and waterfront tavernas for a light lunch.
The absolute jewel in the crown of Zakynthos Island. The beach is massive and stretches from the main party strip if that is your scene all the way across to the much quieter Kalamaki beach which is a protected reserve for sea turtles. Whether you are looking for a loud party atmosphere or somewhere to chill with the family this place has it all.

It would be nice place with easy access to the water but it’s full of drunk young polish and brits. There is tons of glass and trash that is not being cleaned. I would rather go to kalamaki

Busy yet lovely sandy beach. The sea is a few meters from your sunbed (should you wish to rent one... 10 for 2 and umbrella) and as smooth as a pond. The beach bars are reasonably priced for a snack. A view to enjoy and if you like planes, a good spot yo see them come in to land!!

The photos are taken after a storm. The beach is covered with sand and a few clams. Probably the highlight of our holiday on Zakynthos! We'd read the reviews and hoped it really was something more interesting than a standard boat trip..... and we weren't disappointed! From the moment we boarded the fantastic comfortable speed boat and met Mario and Nikos I knew we were in for a special day. Both were so good-natured and good-humoured, and seemed to be looking forward to the day too! Fabulous stops for swimming - with Nikos bringing sea creatures to the boat for Mario to talk about - were great fun and educational. The amazing boat skills navigating into caves and snorkeling in the amazing blue water of caves was breathtaking! Obviously, the icing on the cake was close-up views of 3 turtles, and learning all about their life cycle while watching them dive and surface! The day was always fun, but I really came away more knowledgeable about the sea creatures, esp turtles, and the seascapes. Everyone on the boat had a great day out, and our kids even got a chance the drive the boat! Great memories. Thank you Mario and Nikos!
Rob S — Google review
Last Saturday we went on the boat trip. We've done this boat trip several times and it's always a joy to spend a whole day at sea. Marios and Nikos are very experienced, helpful and create a relaxed atmosphere on board. Children have the opportunity to steer the boat, under Marios' guidance. The first stop is Marathonissi, also known as Turtle Island. Because we arrived so early, it was still very quiet. The boat is also equipped with two clean toilets and a sunshade. The sunshade is especially helpful if you're doing the boat trip with young children and would like to sit in the shade. Throughout the trip, Mario tells you all he knows about Caretta Caretta turtles and other marine life, such as octopus, starfish, and sea urchins. During lunch time, you'll stop at Agios Sostis, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch at the Harbour House. If you're still hesitating about going on this boat trip, I'd say just book it with Joanna; you will not be disappointed. I hope that, by reading this review, you will stop at Mai’s market in Vasilikos to book this trip. It’s not just a boat trip, it’s also educational, relaxing and fun too. Marios and Nikos, thank you for this wonderful day and also for helping me getting on and off the boat with my children and bag. I’m wishing you all the best!

Had a wonderful time on this boat trip. Mario is very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife and the areas you visit on the boat. Includes lots of swimming stops, including cave swimming and on private Islands. One of the highlights of our trip!

Superb day out, well worth it! Fantastic day out and would recommend it for all these reasons: Super easy to get on and off the boat into the water. Takes you right up to the turtle island so you can get off in shallow water if you prefer. Facilities are great with two toilets on the boat. Very well paced day with swim stops, and sea creatures brought on board with care, of which Mario had great knowledge. Mario is a great guy who goes the extra mile to make sure all have a great experience.

We had such a great boat trip with Mario and Niko! They are super friendly and you can really tell they are locals who know all the best spots. Exceptional experience. Whole day boat trip around the South coast of Zakynthos with very knowledgeable and friendly guides. Highlights include visiting a cave where you can swim inside and the lighting is reflection from the water (very pretty), seeing turtles, octopus, sea slugs, starfish, and sponges. Very informative trip. Several swim / snorkel stops. Thoroughly recommended.

Great cruise. Very good time spent with family. In addition to beautiful views, in our free time we get portions of interesting facts about the local fauna. We saw several turtles and a seal. Mario and Niko are doing a great job. During the cruise, they dived for octopuses, starfish, sea urchins, crabs and other creatures whose names I no longer remember. I recommend it to all visitors to Zakynthos ️️️

Gerakas Beach is a natural gem on Zakynthos Island, offering a mix of rough sandy shores and rocky foreshores. It's known as a nesting ground for turtles, so parts of the beach are cordoned off to protect their eggs. The area is not heavily developed with beach bars but does have a couple of restaurants nearby. The geology in the area is fascinating, and there's even clay that can be spread on the body from the rocks.
So pretty, well kept and the turtles nest are just so cute! Free parking outside! Beach opens at 7am and closes at sunset to give the turtles some freedom and privacy to put the eggs. Water is very shallow and calm ideal for kids

The beach is very beautiful, it has sun loungers and a place to sit on a towel, the beach is also delimited with an area for turtles. The beach closes at 7:30 p.m.

Nice beach where turtles lays their nests. Part of the beach (Fortunately) is still reserved for the turtles, but it's still big. Nice sand and crystalline water, highly suggested Just outside there is a big parking spot and a free to visit small turtle museum to spread awareness (must visit)

Nice sandy beach, we like to snorkel and tried to do that at the end of the beach where we noticed rocks. Nothing special from marine life to see. Warning - many nudist people here, they walk around with no swimsuits touching their private parts. We were disgusted. Don't take your children there.

Beautiful loggerhead turtle hatching spot even though we weren’t visiting during the hatching season. There were some people flouting rules such as using drones, but there were equally some weirdos telling people off without having a clear understanding of the rules. We were visited by the massage guys every 10 minutes once and it added to the anxiousness of the day. But the beach is shallow, beautiful and after speaking with the staff, hopefully gets more cordoned off during hatching seasons.

Lovely beach, very busy so it's best to get there early. It's a large deep sandy beach but as you can appreciate half of it is closed off because of the turtle nests. The waters Lovely a clear. Three huge parking lots next to bars, restaurants and the turtle conservation centre.

Very scenic beach, nice if you want to be in touch with nature. No amenities on the beach, you need to walk around 500 back to the road to find anything. The prices for sunbeds are high (40 E/day).

Lovely bay, crowded at this time of the year as the majority is closed for the turtle nesting and beware the far end as it is frequented by nudest bathers. The bay is shallow and calm offering great safety for children.

Marathonisi, also known as Turtle Island, is a small wooded island located in Zakynthos Marine Park. It features a beautiful sandy beach, sea caves, and serves as the breeding ground for Carreta Carreta turtles. The island offers stunning views and is surrounded by crystal-clear waters perfect for exploration. Visitors to Marathonisi can enjoy dining at various restaurants such as Komis Fish Tavern and Votsalo with picturesque views of the island.
Perfect .I paddle here from laganas early morning flat calm sea .without the many motor boats .

We got dropped off there by one of the tour boats and it immediately felt very bad. This is the beach the turtles go to to lay their eggs. The island was overcrowded, no place to explore or lay your towel. They should completely close it off to people so that the turtles have one place they can go in peace without massive amounts of people chasing them.

Stunning but small beach with nice views and ability to see the turtle nesting sites. Cannot touch for obvious reasons. Amazing afternoon turtle spotting with the family. Beautiful end to our Zakynthos holiday.

Get a boat taxi from Agios Sostis port and you ll have a short trip to Caves and Marathonisi beach. No beach umbrellas allowed. There are also small cantinas with sandwiches and drinks on the island. No reservation is needed.

You can buy a taxi boat for +€10pp they will drop you on the island and pick you up whenever you want to go back. I've seen some turtles in the water, and didn't visit the actual island as it wasn't part of our trip.

It’s a nice place, beautiful blue and clear water, recommended to visit. Lots of fish but no turtle. The beach isn’t big and usually lots of people. No toilet option just let you know. Usually 2-3 boats converted to shop and you can buy drink ,burgers , ice creams ect basic but useful, also the boats is the only option to put your bin out. If you go to Zakinthos you should visit the island

They call it Turtle island bc there are no constructions by humen(luckily!) No light, No Noise, No human pollution & No enemy, so the best place for turtles to lay eggs. Nice beach but not something special! If you’re lucky you can spot some turtles. But we saw them at the laganas beach! So no need to disturb the nature for tanning on a beach. You could tan in every other beach. Also because tourists don’t pay attention and throw plastic and rubbish on the bech and in the sea! 😤😣🤦🏻‍♀️

What an amazing experience! Super nice wine, beautiful memories made with friends and family. Zacharoula was very kind and did a lot of effort with us. I would highly recommend Mercouri Estate. We bought two bottles of wine and enjoyed it in the garden.

📍5-Star Review Draft (for Google, TripAdvisor, or Facebook): We decided to skip the cruise excursion and explore Katakolo on our own—and it was the best decision we made on our trip! We hopped on the Fun Tourist Train of Katakolo, where our wonderful driver (pictured!) took us through the charming town and to Merkouri Estate Winery. At the winery, we were greeted by the warm and unforgettable Zacharoula. Her smile, energy, and passion for her work made us feel like family. We laughed, sipped delicious wine, and stayed much longer than expected because the entire experience was just that magical. The grounds were beautiful (with peacocks too!), the tasting room was full of history, and the wine… spectacular. This hidden gem is a must-visit! If you’re coming through Katakolo—whether on a cruise or exploring Greece—do NOT miss this stop. The train ride and winery visit were both incredibly affordable and unforgettable. Huge thanks to Zacharoula and our amazing driver for helping us make such beautiful memories. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from all of us!

What a cool experience! 19th century wine farm, where the charm has probably just increased over time. We were treated to some wine tasting and had a little walk around. The hospitality was simply out of this world, and we were made to feel very special. Would return any day!!

We visited this estate on a cruise excursion. Very interesting short drive from the ship. Met new friends and drank very good wine, then bought a few bottles. Roula was our hostess at the winery and she is just super! This was a fun short excursion made better by all the great people we met.

This vineyard is an absolute gem. If you love dry reds and whites like I do, the wine is incredible. Getting there is easy—just follow the map. There’s a large parking lot, though the entrance can be a bit confusing. Skip the dining hall door and head to the one that opens into a beautiful room with a large table. They serve traditional Greek food, but it appears to be reservation-only. Now, the call to make a reservation was... memorable. My husband, who’s Greek, called to ask if a party of four needed reservations (since most vineyards in Greece don’t accept visitors or do tastings). He opened with, “Yassu… do you take reservations?” But he was stuttering a bit, and the woman on the other end cut him off in Greek with, “Stop stuttering and just tell me what you want!” He couldn’t stop laughing afterward. We were told to be there by 1:30 p.m. because they close at 2:00 p.m. When we arrived, no one explained how tastings worked. We were simply handed a list and asked what we wanted to start with. We chose the rosé. The pours were generous—more like glasses than tastes. We looked at each other, smiled, and toasted with a cheerful “Yamas!” Curious for more, we went back for the white. I went a bit slower and came up behind the group. My husband returned from his second round laughing. He had asked for a dry white, and the woman snapped, “They’re both dry!” When it was my turn, I asked for a tasting of the same white—and this time I got a proper tasting pour, not a full glass. My husband looked confused. His second pour had been just as heavy as the first. Later, we found out: if you get a full pour, you're expected to buy the bottle. A tasting? No strings attached. The Estate itself is stunning—practically a museum. You’ll find displays of old corks, vintage presses, and a traditional stone grape-washing basin. The family history is on full display, and the grounds are absolutely worth the visit. Final thoughts: Slightly chaotic, deeply charming, and totally worth it. Just go in with a sense of humor and a taste for good wine.

Charming little winery – small but mighty in the ‘I’m getting tipsy for cheap’ department. Wine for €5 a glass? Yes, please! Perfect for wandering around pretending you’re a wine connoisseur when you’re really just here for the bargain buzz. 10/10 would stumble around again!

We visited this beautiful winery while at the port in Katakolo. We walked around and took many cool scenic photos and sampled some wine, of course. There is a little hop on, hop off "train" which is really just a little shuttle that can bring you here and to a nearby beach which was worth it.

The place located in a perfect position. Just near the sea. You can walk to the beach from there if you want. We did not took the guided tour around the winery but we got some wine while getting some great help from one of the owners. The wine is great and the place have a special magic.
