the personal was really disrespectful with some people. An old guy with glasses, with the shirt of the place told young guys that “he has the right to scream to them, just because he wants” . Null friendly service. Otherwise the hot springs itself are nice. It’s a shame that the service is like that.
Sebastian H — Google review
I would rate this as a middle class Therme. The inside looks like a swim hall with old styled plastic chairs, the Luxus feeling is missing. Lots of walking from one pool to the other and just was missing the feeling of being at a Therme to relax. The sauna area was ok. A bit of a tight space at the entrance. By one door outside sat all the smokers and it was horrible to smell, so I had to go out the other exit door every time to avoid the smokers. The parking is very far away and you must walk uphill. There is paid parking to avoid the hill. The price is ok. I think they could improve by adding nice chairs and renovating the Hallenbad look on the inside. We found Bad Colberg Therme to be better for us.

(Translated by Google) This was our first time at the thermal baths, and I have to say it won't be our last. We really enjoyed it here; it was quiet and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed the sauna area. The restaurant at the thermal baths is also highly recommended. Everything is immaculately clean and well-maintained.

Deutsches Spielzeugmuseum

The Deutsches Spielzeugmuseum is a beautiful museum showcasing toys from various periods, including dolls, tin toys, and trains. Visitors can explore the 'Thuringer Kirmes' with audio explanations in a separate room. The museum offers play corners for children and a relaxing area with vending machines for parents. It's recommended for both kids and adults as it provides an insightful journey into German toy history.
Super mega cool
Alexandre L — Google review
Normally not bad. But caused by the Covid 19 situation a little bit restricted. It is good for parents or grandparents to explain the old toys to their children. Hint: They have an audio guide but the person at the desk did not tell it to us, although we asked for a guided tour. When we left the museum, then a new person told us, that an audio guide was available. It was to late.
Tom N — Google review
Great place to visit to see historic German toys and games. The automatons were great. Coats and bags can be left in free lockers on the lower floor. Lots of hands on things for the kids to play with. We spent ages playing with the wooden balls on the wall track!

Schloss Rosenau, Coburg

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Museum
Schloss Rosenau in Coburg is a magnificent castle that dates back to 1439, steeped in history and elegance. This stunning structure was the birthplace of Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, and has ties to various European monarchs. Visitors can explore its beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy serene walking trails leading from town. The interior tours are informative, though photography isn't allowed inside. The surrounding park features charming swans and offers a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxation.
Definitely very interesting “Schloss” to see and visit, with all the surroundings and the green area around it. This is where Prince Albert was born in 1819 and they apparently often came here together with Queen Victoria to spend their summer holidays. You can visit it for 5 Euros, but the entrance is only open with guides tours. We were lucky to make one with only three people, even on a Saturday afternoon. It takes around one hour. Highly recommended!
Denizhan Ö — Google review
An excellent palace to visit. If you like the history of Prince Albert then come and see his childhood home.

I loved the castle just sad you couldn't take photos inside. 45 minute tour is n German with a paper guide in English to help anglphones

You have to buy tickets to see inside. The tour is all in German, but you can get a „Führungtexte“ in English (I feel like there’s a lot missing, though). Highly recommend visiting Schloss Ehrenburg instead of this castle. The interior here is a little bit “not ancient”…

Rosenberg Fortress

Mentioned on
1 list
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled atop a hill overlooking the charming walled town of Kronach, Rosenberg Fortress stands as one of Bavaria's most impressive and well-preserved medieval castles. Dating back to the 1200s, this magnificent fortress invites visitors to explore its rich history through guided tours that reveal secret tunnels beneath its sturdy walls. The breathtaking views from the castle provide a stunning backdrop for your adventures, while the surrounding cobbled streets are perfect for leisurely strolls past medieval architecture and quaint shops.
One of the coolest fortresses I've visited. There's a museum, a restaurant and a hotel. It's closed on Mondays but you can still walk around the yard and the view from the walls is lovely. The building itself is the most interesting thing in my opinion. If you only see one thing in Kronach it should be this.
Emilio V — Google review
Amazing castle. Worth a visit. Take the tour.it is a modern style guide with very reflected content. Tour start is only three times a day. No problem as there is a very interesting museum and an excellent frankonian restaurant
Kurt S — Google review
This complete fortress with walled city below are not to be missed. It has a nice restaurant overlooking the city, youth hostel and museum with priceless works of art. Take a tour if you understand German to get the full scope of its history. Head down to the old city below and wander the ancient streets and the Bamberg gate.
Mike M — Google review
Well preserved castle with all the castle features you want to see, gates, tunnels, bridges, towers etc. The view of the city is fantastic in all directions. When we were there they had a historic festival with costumed staff and period vendors along with music and performances throughout the day.
Joe I — Google review
Can’t walk around the back/top of the hill behind the fortress but otherwise cool place to see. Worth stopping at if you’re visiting Kronach. Close enough to the train station that it’s not too far a walk, but be warned it is a steep climb.
Narc Z — Google review
The atmosphere was so gracious, peaceful and beautiful. Out first dinner in a castle together. Even though our language barrier played a challenge in our discussions. Photos were the next best way to share what we are passionate about. We had the best time and are very thank-you to our family friend and guide ❤️ to sharing were she was from the the history of the castle. Surviving the middle ages by sheer placement of the castle. It remains undefeated to this day. 🤩 felt honored to be able to see and feel the atmosphere of noblemen from that time period. I could imagine the hustle at the farmers markets, carts full of hey with cattle being bought and sold. People just living their lives so simply and with purpose. Wonderful place and the view is spectacular!!!!!
Kelly S — Google review
Very nice fortress, large, great view. Free access. Above the entrance a nice restaurant for sitting outside
M. H — Google review
We couldn't go inside, but the grounds were still open for wandering during the pandemic. The castle is gorgeous, with wonderful views of the town below. We parked near the Saturday morning farmer's market and walked up. Highly recommend!

Been here several times and I thoroughly enjoy coming here but I wish that they would limit the amount of people coming here. We bought a dayticket and it was packed and we had to leave.. Its supposed to be a relaxing place but today was anything other than that
Evelyn D — Google review
Don’t believe the negative reviews!!! It is a fantastic place, very clean, with many pools!! Great place to relax and enjoy yourself!! We went on a Sunday morning, believing it would be too crowded, however, the place is so big that we were very comfortable and we loved it! We will come back again for sure! Very good prices comparing to that it offers!
Alex K — Google review
I was there 2 weeks ago. I really enjoyed my time there. It's worth to go there for all day long like I did. It's a perfect place to Relax and everyone find something. During a day they have a lot of different activities.for example 3x per day you can try some face mask. There is a restaurant, food was tasty and bar outside with nice cocktails. All place is nice and clean.
Kinga G — Google review
This was easily one of the main highlights of my trip to Germany. I went once during the day and once in the evening - during the day it’s busier but fantastic, and the evening is relaxing and romantic. The prices are fair, the baths are plenty, and I would highly recommend coming here. One of the best spa towns in Germany!
Maximilian S — Google review
Great spa! We spent 10 hours here and the day just flew by. Interestingly the sauna area is a naked zone and not gender separated so you can enjoy it with your partner. Restaurant was nice as well and very reasonable. Definitely get the full day pass when you come

Beautiful and informative. The brewery museum showcases from the Sumerian age, and the bakery museum showcases the history of baking, right from the Egyptian age.

Very interesting history. They explain the close relation and importance of the beer in German culture. I did only the brewery tour. In the place the ir a small garden with restaurants where you can eat something if you want to stay longer. Something to improve: Descriptions are only I German, could be also in English, nevertheless you can translate it with google translate as well.

We did the beer experience over a day with the museum. The museum is quite nice. Interesting models and displays. Always expanding. There is food and drink available and you can watch them brew the beer. Very informative and interesting.

Hilltop Renaissance fortress with ornate courtyard arcade used for cultural events, plus museums.
Beautiful castle, we walked from the city, so we had no problem with parking at the castle. We did not go to the museum, so I only rate the castle building and the view.

A visit to the Plassenburg is definitely a recommendation when visiting the upper part of the Franconian region. It is an impressive facility and the view is overwhelming. and the tin figure museum, well, if you like it, you can visit it too.

Baumwipfelpfad Steigerwald

Sights & Landmarks
Hiking area
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Large, circular tower made of wooden planks, offering scenic forest vistas & informative plaques.
It’s a beautiful path through the trees, quite high up, there’s a few play stations en route that are fun for kids. The Tower itself is really high, so you will have an incredible view from the Steigerwald. At the end there is a large playground in the woods, with a kugelbahn. Our kids liked that the most. The entrance fee for the tower is pretty steep for what it is, so I don’t think I will return, but it was a fun thing to do when we were there.
Jan B — Google review
Today we decided to visit this place. At first I was skeptical because of the height but once you get to the top you can see miles and miles of beautiful land. There is a small petting zoo, deer and also places to sit and let the kids play. Definitely recommend.
Monica G — Google review
Great place for family walks with children
Viktoriia K — Google review
Beautiful place to go with the family, specially with kids. Considering that we only went to look around and walk up the tower, the ticket was quite expensive in my opinion (9€). The animals they have (deers and goats) seemed to me a bit sad. Overall, the views from the tower are very nice, and walking across the path was awesome, the infrastructures were beautifully planned.
Fran M — Google review
We spent a great day here and enjoyed the beautiful views. Our kids liked the playground and the children zoo. All areas are accessible with stroller. Only drawback is the high ticket price of 10€ for a adult.
Jens G — Google review
Such a serene environment... Lovely seeing all these creatures and it was very relaxing. You should visit. Quite a nice view
Vamsi-Krishna D — Google review
An impressive all around view at this Treetop path with a circular tower at 42m. It is wheelchair and baby stroller friendly. Deer feed:1€ per pack, you can provide them some sustenance through a long tube. I could see many young kids with doe-eyed eyes and hopeful faces pleading their parents to get some. Parents with indulgent sighs, are always happy to oblige. However, I am thankful that my offspring is a strapping 18 year old now, my thoughts were "Been there, Done that, I don't have to get any deer feed anymore🤣. This is indeed a wonderful and educational place to appreciate wildlife, the ever-giving generous forests and spending time with love ones in the beautiful nature. Take your time, you might just catch some of the elusive birds 🪶🪶 or if you can identify certain animal's hooves.

A great day spent with family and friends, plenty of attractions, shows, wheelchair accessible with an escort.

Very nice and alot of games and many places to set and take a rest . Recommend for all ages and very nice for family.
Prince A — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Kids had an excellent time and did not want to leave. Food options are great and prices are expected to be a bit higher so no surprise there. There a re variety of rides for everyone of all ages. Glad it wasn't too crowded when we visited on 03 July. My favorite ride was the boomerang. Also there a husky friendly rides for my guys who wear a couple XX's in their shirt or waistband. Can't wait to go back next weekend.
Jules G — Google review
Great theme park, food and drink prices not too expensive. Rides are very varied with something for everyone.
Matt C — Google review
In general we had a lovely day there. The park is not that big but offers a wide range of activities for all age groups more suited for families and children. If you are an adrenalin junky you will find a few attractions but not that a variety as in other parks. We liked that there were food stalls and toilets everywhere and the wildlife areas to calm down a bit from the excitement. Some of the attractions seem a bit dated, though they are still fun to ride. The new area that was opened this year (Asia themed) looked nice, but the dragon rollercoaster didn't live up to our expectations. (no real light show or exciting exhibits, could do much better!) If you are looking for a nice family day, this will suit you fine 😉
Sebastian K — Google review
This is a great day out for a family with attractions suitable for all age groups. The park is well maintained and the layout offers plenty of shade and diversity. This would have been five stars from me if the prices were a bit more moderate. Kids pay full price from 1.40 m size, no family tickets and on site food, drinks and ice-cream are quite expensive. I recommend big families to bring their own food and drink.
Roberto G — Google review
Its a strange collection of attractions, some clearly left overs from earlier decades or second hand from other large attraction parks. But, nice atmosphere, green surroundings, not too busy. So, you pick what you like and go over and over again in the same attraction. For younger children lots of fun options. For teenagers too limited. My 13 and 15 year old enjoyed it for a couple of hours, but too few really exciting rollercoasters etc. Prices for food and drinks are high with 3 EUR for a black coffee. Zero vegan options. It's all just s bit out of date or conservative. Maybe exemplary for Bavaria?
Christy D — Google review

18th-century Baroque palace, with ornate interior, frescoed staircase & collection of Old Masters.
Great tour. Sadly only in German. But for the English speakers there is a flyer which accompanies the tour to read about each room you get to visit making it worth it. Really friendly staff and amazing art and history. Only negative was the amount of time we could stay in each room was almost too short to soak in the amazing art and design in each room.
Lance G — Google review
Very cool experience, amazing, and worth a visit if you're near Bamberg. The tour is only in German, so be prepared to use Google translate if you're not fluent in the language. Very simple, the guide happily spoke about each room, then gave us a minute for Google translate to say it back in English.

baroque building from 18th century. served as a summer residence for Bamberg prince Bishop. no photos are allowed. here they filmed the netflix series the empress. highlights are Stairs, ceremony room and the gallery hall. surrounded by side building wings and a park.
David A — Google review
Beautiful castle. The architecture is so gorgeous and the information you receive throughout the tour was very interesting. They provide children with a questionnaire and when they answer all the questions, they receive a small price at the end. What makes me give this a 4 out of 5 is that you can't walk through the rooms alone and can only take a tour so if there is something you want to look at longer you can't because the group moves on. Also absolutely no cameras are allowed inside the castle so that was a bit of a letdown.
Monica G — Google review
Lovely old stately home, we did not go inside even though that is possible. at the time of visiting the cafe and toilettes were open to the public and one could walk in the grounds of the park, this is not a park with ornate garden features but a large park with a lake and grasses were deer can roam. There is ample free parking and covid restrictions were applied at the time of our visit.
Dave P — Google review
The guide was rushed through and in german but a definite visit. Depictions of asia on the ceilings was very intresting but my obvious favourite was the grotto room. You could smell the sea in the room.

Surprisingly beautiful hilltop18th Century Baroque Catholic Church (especially the inside!) in the center of a charming small town which is itself centered among a beautiful rocky river valley geography. Plenty of nearby parking (bring €2 coins!). An important Bamburg pilgrimmage basilica built atop existing religious sites in Franconian Switzerland. Also a Pokémon Gym!

(Translated by Google) You should definitely stop by here! The basilica and the garden are simply beautiful and totally idyllic, both to walk around and to sit and linger. (Translated by Google) A great basilica. Together with the medieval, fairytale knight's castle, it shapes the townscape of Gößweinstein. The facade made of bright ocher yellow sandstone is clearly structured. It is dominated by a richly decorated portal and the statues of the diocese saints, Emperor Heinrich and his wife Empress Kunigunde. Inside, the baroque high altar attracts the attention of church visitors. The miraculous image, the destination of pilgrims from near and far, represents the coronation of Mary by the Holy Trinity. A powerful organ sounds during the solemn services, played by a gifted organist. A visit to the neighboring pilgrimage museum is also worthwhile.

Summer toboggan run
Water & Amusement Parks
Erlebnisfelsen Pottenstein is a must-visit destination in Pottenstein during the spring and summer. It offers an amusement park experience with toboggan runs, rope courses, and a viewing deck overlooking a forested canyon. This is an ideal way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Franconia without extensive hiking. The park provides various rides suitable for families, including toboggan runs that offer adjustable speeds and are reasonably priced.
A day trip in Pottenstein can be fun with this experience. It has only 3 rides but all of them were funny and very kids friendly. The tickets costs 4€ for each ride. The que was very long hence buy all 3 tickets together and enjoy!
Virta W — Google review
A fun place to spend a day. You can buy a per ride ticket. That way you can buy tickets only for the rides you are interested in. There is a restaurant and a small ice cream shop inside. Washrooms are available in the premises and there is plenty of car parking space.
Padmini S — Google review
Good place to visit with kids, we have spent some nice time being there and enjoyed ourselves. Rides were good and safe for everyone. Restaurant was good but due to heavy crowd the waiting times were too high.
Hemanth S — Google review
Kids and adults both had fun here! We came here in the morning of a weekend. While the parking was quite crowded, we didn’t have to queue up for each ride. There were more people coming after lunch time though.
Don P — Google review
The site itself is lovely, the facilities are fun, the view is amazing, there is a comfortable restaurant and convenient parking. But we had an unpleasant experience. We bought 6 tickets at the ticket office - 4 for the roller coaster for all of us (a couple with two daughters) and 2 for the sleds just for my husband and daughter. After we all did the first slide, my husband and daughter went to the sled slide. The line was long but we waited patiently. When it was there turn, my husband already went in with his ticket and when my daughter tried to go up with her, it was listed as having zero balance! Even though the four used tickets were separately in my pocket. Unfortunately, they left the line and went back up. When I went up to the cashier and explained the situation, she acted like I was trying to lie to her. When I realized there was no one to talk to, I bought two more tickets. I wasn't bothered by the money but by the feeling that she didn't even think there was a possibility that there was a problem with them. When my husband and daughter went back to the line, the same thing happened to another father and son... too bad.

Fun time! Rides for all ages so bring the whole family. Best part is free admission! They charge per ride/attraction and the prices are very reasonable. Of Disney charged per ride they'd go out of business but here it's a great working model.
Philip S — Google review
It's your typical amusement park. Not too big, there are a couple of nice rides, nothing too extreme so it's ok even for someone who isn't an adrenaline junkie. The waiting lines are decent even on a weekend.

Devil's Cave

Mentioned on

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Devil's Cave, also known as Teufelshohle, is a fascinating multi-chambered limestone cave with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The cave earned its name from local folklore attributing the disappearance of livestock to the devil. Discovered in 1922, it revealed animal remains that had fallen into the cave. Visiting the cave involves navigating through different chambers with tight passageways and low ceilings, making it unsuitable for strollers or carrying infants.
Nice cave, a pleasant guided tour (in German). Inside the cave there are quite a few staircases, be ready you go up and downstairs quite a lot. We were there on a long weekend, it was quite crowded. You buy the ticket first and get a time slot to visit the cave. In our case slots were available in about 30 minutes. The tour lasts about 45 minutes.
Дамир Б — Google review
We did the 40 minute group tour and found it interesting and informative. It is cold and wet inside so appropriate clothing and footwear is a must. Also, be prepared for a long walk. There is paid parking outside the caves and the max duration to park is 2.5 hours. There is a café at the exit. It also sells a few souvenirs.
Padmini S — Google review
The best place to visit near Nuremberg, amazing atmosphere, Nature at its best, chilly inside the cave with a lot of stones made of water drops over the year and one was 2000 years old. The guided tour with the German and English language and the guide was super nice. The ticket price was just 9 euros for adult, it was around 45 mins of tour inside the cave. Once in a lifetime experience for me. Deutschland Ticket works there in Schmetterling Busses. What are you waiting for?
Rahul P — Google review
It's wonderful! I'd recommend a guided tour and warm clothes. Not for disabled people. Lots of stairs and tight on several parts of the way. Absolutely worth it. Dogs are allowed.
Sabine W — Google review
We visited on a Sunday, early afternoon. It wasn't overly crowded. The tour guide also spoke in English. It was worth the trip. It was a good experience. After exiting the cave, you can enjoy a nice refreshment at the cafe, go for a hike, or visit the coaster park (up the mountain). We were very pleased.

Great fun and very unique cave! The audio- and visual effects inside were fun too - and the exit outside of the cave was almost magical! Really beautiful grassy and moss-covered rock formations and mountain cliffs. Beautiful sight, our kids had fun here!

Love this cave tour however, they play the English language guided tour after the group moves on — kinda rude lol but overall, its a nice tour/hike.

Only guided tour as per slot (in German) . Parking in Automat. View after the tour was also amazing (autumn season) 9 euro ticket for adults. Will be very interesting for kids.

Erlebnispark Schloss Thurn

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Virtual reality games, water slides & coasters in a family park with carousels & a boating lake.
This is our favorite park in Bavaria to take our grandchild. Everything about this park is perfect for children up to 9 or 10 years old. There is never a huge line for rides, and the shows are always good. The prices at the concession stands are always reasonable, and there is plenty of seating scattered throughout the park. A day at Schloss Thurn is always fun.

This amusement park was so much fun! Children and adults both had a great time. The park is really big so even if there are a lot of people, it won’t get so crowded. We went here during the weekday and didn’t have to wait for any of the rides/activities. There are so many things to do in this park and it was not possible to try everything. We’d definitely want to come back here.
Don P — Google review
It's a blast, huge, great park for a family with kids under the age of 10 or 12. It's really kitch. It is a bit run down. It has a nostalgic charm. I thought the entrance fee was a little high, compared to similar amusement parks. The food was reasonably priced. There is a portion themed for the wild west of the USA. It was super fun to spend time in a park with a section themed for where our kids were born.
Michael V — Google review
The park was pretty good, lots to do. One thing that can be done better is to, my opinion, Ban smoking in the park. As there are lots of kids there smoking should be banned as an effort for kids and nonsmokers to have a better day while in the park. Some food stands need customer service training for sure, food safety is not practiced as it was noticed. But overall the park and the rides and the entertainment was pretty Good.

This amusement park is ideal for a family with young children, my daughter is 3 years old, she was able to take part in all the attractions, except for two of which she has not yet reached the size. had. The park is well-kept and lovingly laid out, a bit old, a bit dusty, but definitely worth a visit for the whole family.

Leisure Indoor Pool Atlantis

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Swimming pool
Family-friendly entertainment complex with swimming pools, flumes, casual dining & a leisure spa.
Wow, just WOW!!! We were blown away by the size and the number of different water activities and pools here. And to top it off they offer a discount for families on Fridays. The food and drinks were a bit pricey which I understand to make up for how cheap it is to enjoy this magnificent attraction. We arrived at 11 am and spent the entire day here. The lockers were numerous and it was nifty how they have your locker number assigned to on your wristband that allows the parent to charge for food and other services offered at the park. I have been to a couple of other water parks in Germany but none were quite so complete in functionality. Atlantis is by far THEE best water park to enjoy on any day. There is a heated pool outside along with bubbles. There is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. I will definitely be bringing my family back to this location for the summer and winter if they offer services. They have gain5 a life long customer. The food was prepared very quickly and completely from start of my order and the hospitality of the server was impeccable. I absolutely can not wait to go back again and again to make some core memories with family and hopefully friends. This has been one of the highlights of my trip to Germany so far. I definitely recommend Atlantis to any and everyone. Not to mention the location. It was only a 20 min drive from my home in Hoechstadt. How cool is that. I wish I would known of this place as we have been traveling to Palm Beach in Nuremberg. Not any more.

Nice indoor water park. Good place to spend 3-4 hrs with kids. Great options for adults too which includes steam, sauna and additional massage (extra payment). Nice hot spring pool is my favorite. Slides and play area sounds little boring after few hours.. So there's a scope of making some more fun activities for the kids. But overall good place for all age groups. Nice cafeteria. Ice cream vending machine. Clean showers and changing rooms. Free parking. Nice cute goodie shop. Overall good experience. Pretty reasonable too. Different water activities for different age groups. Small pools, whirlpools, slides, water sports, wave pool etc.

Half the showers are broken, and shower area is extremely small and dirty. Machine to pay additional time does if course only take cash, no card. The bath once in is nice. Long waiting time possible though.

Nice swimming facilities and fun pool for school aged children with lots of climbing facilities. Would be great if water in children's area would be a bit warmer. Extremely poor hygiene. When we found 💩 poop laying around in the baby-pool, they fixed it by fishing the biggest peaces out of the water. In Denmark the pool would have been closed, emptied, cleansed and THEN reopened. The toilets were not in the locker rooms but rather inside the actual pool room, allowing for you to take a dump and then go straight back into the water, hence having everyone swimming in your rectal bacteria. In Denmark you strictly have to shower once more, using soap, before going back into the water. There were other very low-hygiene issues, but those two mentioned were the worst. So, don't go if you are not in the mood for an infection. If you don't care about hygiene, the place is ok.
Inez D — Google review
I am sorry to say this, however as of now I cannot suggest this place to any of my friends. It is clearly an old place and it looks like it’s not kept up as it is supposed to be. - There is algae in all the outside filters and the inside filters do not look really clean either. - The little “cave” has residue on the walls which makes me feel icky. - The seats were made out of really cheap looking plastic and the metal frames of quiet a few of the loungers are rusty. a. s. o. .. There is no reason to make a special Tripp to this location.
T S — Google review
Perfect place for relax, just few people even during the weekend. We enjoyed our time there, swimming and cool poolbar
Denisa G — Google review
From the outside the place has great appeal with modern architecture and smooth surfaces, however once inside the age of the building shows. The changing rooms are packed full with changing booths and lockers with little room to maneuver around. There is only one male and one female shower room with 5-7 shower heads. The pool area is cramped with chairs along the edges forcing you to side step past them. The concrete walls show signs of water damage and paint peeling all over. The two indoor “hot” pools were actually mildly warm with only small sections of bubbling water. The area with the children’s pool and area was very nicely layout, however most of the kids were in the main area with their parents in the warm pools. Their behavior and loudness took away from the goal of relaxing. A recommendation for the locker keys and access control to different areas, use a more modern method like a rubber wrist band embedded with a chip that is programmed at front desk. The coin chip works, however placing it in the wrist band holder with the locker key is bulky and requires constant attention to ensure it’s still tight or fastened to wrist. Overall the place is best suited to take your children and let them burn some energy off. This is NOT a place to go if you wanna relax in a hot therme.

The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, also known as Kaiserburg, is a majestic 11th-century castle complex that includes a royal palace and gardens. Perched on a sandstone cliff overlooking the city, it is divided into three parts: the imperial castle Kaiserburg, noble buildings in Burggrafenburg, and other structures to the east in stadtische Burganlage.
One of the most well kept castles for its size and age. Not a lot of English info so prepare to get the audio guide if you want to know more about the castle. Had fun climbing the tower and the views of Nuremberg were unmatched!
Elle F — Google review
One of the iconic castles of Germany, with loads of imperial connections, and well worth braving the rather steep ascent (the views are great, too). Part of the fortifications that lure you up are actually the city wall, not the castle proper, but the overall effect is what counts. If you are spendthrift, skip the castle interior (interesting, but nor overwhelming), and definitely do not eat there (much better value can be found around the nearby Dürerhaus or in town).
Bernd B — Google review
Definitely worth the price of admission. Lots of walking so wear good shoes. Make sure to check out the bridge near the bus drop-off point for the best view. No photography once you are inside. The castle is fabulous. There are bathrooms and a small Cafe inside. Get there early to avoid the crowd.

The Imperial Castle is the symbol of Nuremberg. Since the Middle Ages its silhouette has represented the power and importance of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and the outstanding role of the imperial city of Nuremberg. From 1050 to 1571, all Holy Roman Emperors resided – at least temporarily – in the Imperial Castle. An archeological exploration of the grounds of the castle has revealed remains of a fortress.

Absolutely beautiful. Historical cathedrals with their spires, intricate side chapels, and impossibly high ceilings are a must-see for me. I just can't imagine praying in one... I'd be too distracted!

St. Lawrence is the Cathedral Church of Nuremberg with twin bell towers. It is located in Alstadt very center surrounded with many market stalls. Church is free to enter with tall classic Gothic arches inside with very few stained glass. WWII devastations miraculously spared the twin towers which only endured minor damages

Gothic masterpiece church dominating southern part of old town was built over the period of 2 centuries from 1250 to 1477. It was burnt out at the end of WW2 and reconstructed in 1952. Artwork was preserved in underground bunkers prior to bombings, so wooden rosary with suspended in mid-air figures and stain glass are original to medieval period.

Almost a twin of the St Sebald (might be?) but with it's own architectural marvel. In a large market square with farmer market and many open square restaurants
Don D — Google review
St. Lorenz Church is one of the most important Gothic churches in southern Germany and a defining landmark of Nuremberg’s old town. Built between the mid-13th and 15th centuries, it was originally a Catholic church but became Lutheran after the Reformation in 1525. Its twin towers and richly ornamented façade dominate Lorenzer Platz. The church measures approximately 91 meters in length, 27 meters in width, and its towers rise to about 80 meters high — making it one of the largest churches in Bavaria. We didn’t have the chance to go inside, as a concert was taking place at the time of our visit. However, even through the closed doors, the sheer power of the sound resonating from within was striking — a clear reminder of the building’s scale and extraordinary acoustics.
Anna K — Google review
St. Lorenz dominates Nuremberg’s Old Town with its towering Gothic façade and twin spires that seem to pull the eye upward the moment you step into Lorenzer Platz. The intricate stonework of the main portal and rose window is stunning up close, and the scale of the building makes it impossible to miss while exploring the city center. Originally built in the 13th century, the church was heavily damaged during World War II and carefully reconstructed, a reminder of both destruction and resilience in Nuremberg’s history. Inside, it houses important works of art, including Veit Stoss’ soaring wooden Angelic Salutation and stained glass that dates back to the Middle Ages. Even if you only admire it from the square, St. Lorenz offers one of the most striking examples of German Gothic architecture in the region and connects directly to the layered history of the city.

St. Lorenz Church in Nuremberg is a breathtaking example of Gothic architecture that left me in awe. The towering twin spires and the intricate façade draw you in, but it’s the interior that truly captivates. The soaring vaulted ceilings, stunning stained glass windows, and the elaborate sculptures create a space that feels both grand and intimate. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are remarkable, making it easy to lose yourself in the beauty and history of the place. St. Lorenz is not just a church; it’s a masterpiece that speaks to the soul.

Nürnberg Zoo, established in 1912, is one of the largest and oldest zoos in Europe. It is located just a short tram ride east of the city center amidst lush forests in a former sandstone quarry. The zoo houses over 2,000 animals from around 300 species within natural exhibits. Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife including ibex, lions, zebras, polar bears, dolphins, elephants and more in spacious enclosures surrounded by shady trees.
Wonderful Family Day at Tiergarten Nürnberg! We had a fantastic time visiting the Tiergarten in Nürnberg with our family! The park is beautifully laid out, with plenty of space to walk and explore. We saw so many animals – from lions and giraffes to penguins and dolphins – and every exhibit was well-maintained and engaging. Our kids absolutely loved the experience and especially enjoyed the dolphin show and the farm animal area where they could get a bit closer to the animals. The park is also very clean and has good food options and shaded areas for breaks. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance, especially during weekends or holidays – it saves time and guarantees entry. A must-visit if you’re in the area and looking for a fun, educational day out with children!

A nice zoo with impressive constructions and a variety of species. However, almost everything is in German. Only the titles of the species are in English and nothing else. Very difficult to learn something or listen to one of the tours and demonstrations if you are not a German speaker.
Nadelin G — Google review
Nice, clean, and well maintained zoo. The animals seem to be happy, except the tiger, which has too little space. I felt really bad when people kept smoking (many) and throwing things to animals, I wish there were staffs there to educate these people.
LALITA W — Google review
My wife and I visit the Tiergarten for many years at least once a week. It’s easily one of the most beautiful, most impressive zoos in all of Europe. Animals like the harpy, the Mishmi takins, the mossy frogs and the blue tree monitor are endangered species and not easily found in other European zoos. The habitats are intricately conceived to resemble the natural spaces of animals and meet their needs and preferences. Wandering across the vast landscape zoo is simply one of the most entertaining and informative adventures Nuremberg offers.
Barnaby M — Google review
The zoo is located on the mountainside so there is a lot of hiking involved in visiting it. It's also really big and has lots of trees, sometimes you feel like going through a forest only to reach another animal enclosure. There are also some rare animals here like polar bears. The only problem I had with it was the program, the feeding times overlap with other points of the program. I guess it's to have people decide so none of them are really crowded and for the people to avoid running around the zoo, but if you are here as a tourist it kinda sucks since you won't be able to see them all unless you arrive here early in the morning at stay till 4pm

If you're interested in visiting giraffes and dolphins like me, now is not a good time to visit Nurnberg Zoo; however, your visit will still be enjoyable.
Monir G — Google review
Great so many animals to see. Great value and tram takes you there easily. Best value via a Nurenberg Card 48hr ticket. Seeing free flying bats and a fabulous tiger was amazing plus the fish. Allow at least 4 hours to see all.

I have a pleasant visit in this zoo, with a lot of places to see. The animals looks and are pretty happy Í think because they have a lot of space where they actually live. What I notice also our presence there make them feel good and not lonely. Good job Nürnberg Zoo keep the good work!

The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg is a striking example of architecture repurposed for learning, offering deep insights into the history of the Nazi regime. Currently undergoing major renovations to enhance accessibility and exhibitions, the renewed spaces is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

It's my second time visiting this complex and I can highly recommend it. This time, I found out that the museum itself has been closed for several years already due to extensive renovations. Unfortunately this wasn't very clear online and when you get there the signage isn't very clear either - we walked right past the containerized ticket booth because when you walk towards the building from the parking lot, you can't see the signage. However, visiting the special exhibition was worth it. It's immensely important to expose yourself to our history - maybe one day we will learn?

Historical interesting but the museum is very small. Better go outside to have a look at the impressive structures

It was closed due to a rock concert. With all the camped attendees, it was a bit on the nose

Impressive to imagine what took place here years ago. Would have been nice to have some pictures/explanations outside in the visitor’s viewing place
Pavi0208 — Google review
Worth a visit. They are currently renovating and I expect that the updated museum will be excellent. No real signage for the other outdoor paths and buildings. We saw the interim exhibit and it was quite complete. €5 cash to park. Couple this site with the Nuremberg Court Rooms. (Make sure to pay the street parking fee as a whole line of cars got ticketed outside the court room.)

It was temporarily closed when I visited. If you want to see it reopened, go in 2026.

Visited this small town a couple of years ago, memory is still fresh in my mind. When I was walking around the city then I saw these very beautiful sculptures, the city vibe is not bad. The one day trip is more than enough to explore this German town.

An incredibly historic church with over a millennia of history. Check out the side chapels and the Swan Knight Chapel next to the altar.

(Translated by Google) A very unusual but extremely interesting and richly decorated church interesting for its multi-storey interior. Namely, apart from pews for worshipers on the ground floor, there are places for worshipers in the mezzanine, under the organ, and on the first floor, at the level of the organ. Particularly interesting is the glazed part of the back rooms upstairs, which probably serve as a gathering place for bishops and priests. The extremely large organ, which can be reached and viewed from up close, and the almost panoramic view of the entire interior give this church its uniqueness and beauty.

Ansbach Residence

Sights & Landmarks
Elegant rooms in this opulent, historical palace showcase paintings, Ansbach pottery & porcelain.
very place to visit. but is a shame we can't take picture in the tour.
Alex C — Google review
baroque-renaissance residence, place of sitting for the Markgraven. you can only visit with a guided tour, a gothic hall on the ground floor is open freely. the tour is a series of rooms and story of the owners. the place is under heavy renovation works (outside and inside), plans for end 2025 to be reopen without limitations again, but the replica is there to see especially the ceiling rococo in the fest Halle. the place was barely damaged in war so you could actually see original stuff from the 18th century.
David A — Google review
The palace offers an engaging visit that can be completed within an hour. Visitors have the opportunity to explore several interesting rooms and gain insightful information about the site. Guided tours are available and provide a great experience; however, they are conducted exclusively in German. For non-German speakers, understanding the full context may be challenging, as the information is presented in a printout sheet, which does not entirely capture the essence of the experience. Also some of the rooms are under repairs and are not visitable. Additionally, the ground floor features a porcelain exhibition, enhancing the visit with an interesting cultural touch.
Petros P — Google review
Visited the castle with the English tour because you can't visit by yourself. The guide was really nice and his English was great too. The castle is really nice though it is not furnished and some renovations were going on. But the guide made the visit much better to be honest!

Really beautiful palace and tour was very interesting. Not as opulent or large as the one in Munich but still quite nice. Parking is on the city street and you have to pay for it.

Excellent visit, not yours at the moment due to covid, but you can walk through the rooms.on your own (although not ally he rooms are open), there is only limited information in English, but staff are really friends, after visiting I went to the gardens across the road

Centuries-old hilltop fort ruins with an excavated moat & chapel, plus guided tours on Sundays.
This is not a pile of rubble marking the ruins of a castle. It is a large complex with multiple rooms, evidence of several levels including a natural ravine/gorge that would serve a similar role like a moat and an extensive outer wall. Considering that it was in full use a thousand years ago it is a fascinating site to explore.

Wolfstein Castle (Burgruine Wolfstein) is a beautiful and peaceful spot that’s perfect for a short hike and a taste of medieval history. Located on a hill above the town of Neumarkt in Bavaria, the castle ruins date back to the 12th century and still have an impressive presence. The walk up to the castle is easy and scenic, taking visitors through forest paths and offering lovely views along the way. Once at the top, the remains of the stone walls and towers give a great sense of what the fortress once was. There's also a viewing platform that offers stunning panoramic views over Neumarkt and the surrounding countryside. It’s free to explore, and while the ruins aren’t large, they have a peaceful charm that makes it a nice place to spend an hour or so. There are also a few benches at the top, perfect for relaxing and soaking in the scenery. Wolfstein Castle is great for anyone who enjoys light hiking, history, and beautiful views. It’s a quiet, less crowded alternative to bigger tourist sites, making it a perfect stop if you’re in the area.

Took a trek right from the train station as we went there on the weekend and the buses were not operational. It took about an hour to reach the ruins but the journey was worth it. The tower was open, so I could enjoy the breathtaking view. The place takes about 30 min to explore but I would recommend a hike or trek to enjoy the place to its fullest.
Vaibhav P — Google review
It was easy to find parking right outside the little town. It was an easy 5-minute walk to the castle. The only disappointing thing was that there is very little to discover. There is only one plaque that we could find with anything written on it about the castle. And guided tours of the spire are only available on Saturdays. The rest of the castle can easily be explored in under 10 minutes. The best thing about this Castle is the view. You can see the entire valley and distinguish no less than 8 or 9 different towns. It's breathtaking.

Tours of the watch tower are only available on Sunday from 1pm - 5pm at the moment. But I grew up in the 80's and 90's playing the video game Wolfenstein 3D on a PC so had to come have a look. Really spectacular and fantastic views of the local town.

Gorgeous castle ruins on a mountain top overlooking the town of Neumarkt.

Good place for hiking (beginner level), there is an amazing view from the hill top to the Neumarkt town. Castle ruins is amazing to discover, it takes 1 hour to visit the castle with good view of the town, which is a valley surrounded by small hills. A parking space is available in the field which is free of cost.

Automobile history museum displaying a chronological collection of antique Maybach luxury cars.
Cool luxury car museum. Learned that Maybach made much more than cars. Definitely worth checking out!
Philip S — Google review
Very interesting but the display of the cars was a bit boring, old fashioned. The artefact and the parafernalia displays were very nice. I wanted to pay with an EU debit card and at first they did not accept it. Once they realized I had no other means of payment it was okay. All by all I have learned a lot about the Maybach company.
Bonosbones — Google review
consist of one floor and includes the history of Maybach creation and the development through the years till the destruction of the workshop in 1945. the rooms are wide with informations on all the big and luxury Maybach which once existed. motor engines and collectibles are there also to see. a collection of famous express bicycles and motorcycles is there. souvenirs, cafe and a cinema is available. dont miss it.
David A — Google review
Extremely interesting collection of pre-war Maybach cars. Facilities and restaurant closed due to private party.
Marcel S — Google review
The museum is great. Anyone interested in old cars and aviation with Zeppelins has come to the right place. Entrance fee of 9.50 euros is just about okay. However, parts of the museum are not heated. Be sure to dress warmly in winter. A room temperature that was 3 or 4 degrees higher wouldn't have been bad. No credit cards accepted, only debit cards. December 2023
O. K — Google review
I guess it is over rated; though there was some nice vintage cars, but the museum is relatively small. I was expecting to see some new cars. There are some interesting facts though, about the bike industry and patents, and also the war tanks industry. The video related to the Hindenburg disaster and the crash of the Zeppelin in the US in 1937, was really touching!
Patrick K — Google review
I expected more cars. The documentary about Zeppelin was interesting.
Ana D — Google review
Although it's a nice little museum with very nice expose, it would be nice, if the lights are switched ON, as it's quite difficult to read about the exhibits in a dark room (even if it's only 2pm)
