Hökensås Sportfiske AB

Fishing store

Other Outdoor Activities
We were fishing on many lakes, but also river. Best fishing for us was on the river, which was full of fish, that you could see, we caught quite many, thanks to my brother, who figured out, which flies to use. As the fish are very nice (large) they are not so many and not so easy to catch, you must find it out, how to get them. Lakes were more difficult for us. One day we got nothing, the other day we rent a boat and we caught few very nice trouts (but after long period of time and only with fly fishing), also some pikes. Fishing was difficult, but with possibility to catch very nice fish on beautifull various lakes and river. Our stay was during very hot weather in July.
Michal V — Google review
Great starting point when fishing in the area. Get fishing permit and any extra equipment as well as some insights on which lakes and what baits to use for the day. The shop has good opening hours and is just near first camp camping grund and the lakes. Friendly and helpful. Although a bit pricey.
Supriya M — Google review
Shameful behavior! The store owner believes it's acceptable to yell and swear at small children and refused to apologise. How the actual store is, I don't know. Such behavior is never OK, especially on a camp site where children are expected. Very sad and angry man.

(Translated by Google) Have read all the bad reviews here. It makes me a little upset so I have to defend Hökensås sportfiske AB here. I have been fly fishing here for 25 years! I have always had professional treatment from the staff here all these years! The fish in all the lakes is of the best quality. Both in size and species. During all these 25 years, I only feel that the quality of the fish has improved and the whole experience with both parking lots and table grills as well as the chop and the staff is of the highest quality. In addition, you have put a lot of energy into clearing up the terrain around the lakes so there are good throwing sites here. It is "rare" that me and my company have gone home empty-handed without a bite or a nice nice fish. But now I fly fish for experience and harmony, as many others also do here on the ridge. I don't just fish to "fill the bag with fish" as some do and think that's what it's all about here when you visit Hökensås. So, like many other fishermen, I probably share my view on sport fishing, regardless of whether you only fly fish or not about what the fishing here is all about. You other whiners haven't understood what fishing is all about. Claims a happy fly fisherman who has been fly fishing here for 25 years and will continue to do so for at least 30 more.

We love swedish industrial heritage museums. Here is one of these. Sadly there is hardly any information in english. There is a childcare in the same house which can be annoying. We loved the old smithy and the video about the old smithymaster.

The Great Bog National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Parks
Nature reserve in a marsh landscape home to moose & diverse birdlife, with walkways through bogs.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Greater Mosse National Park, and it was a truly memorable experience. This national park is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the park's stunning natural beauty. The vast wetlands, diverse flora, and serene landscapes offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The network of well-maintained trails provides an excellent opportunity to explore the park's unique ecosystems. I particularly enjoyed the boardwalks that meander through the bogs and marshes, allowing for close-up views of the fascinating plant and animal life. Birdwatching here is a delight, with numerous bird species to spot. I was fortunate to see several rare birds, which made the visit even more special. The observation towers strategically placed throughout the park offer fantastic vantage points for taking in the expansive vistas and watching wildlife. The visitor center is very informative, providing detailed information about the park's history, ecology, and the best routes to take for various interests and fitness levels. The staff were friendly and eager to share their knowledge, enhancing the overall experience. Greater Mosse National Park is impeccably preserved, reflecting Sweden’s commitment to conservation. The tranquility and natural beauty of the park make it an ideal destination for anyone looking to reconnect with nature. Whether you're hiking, birdwatching, or simply enjoying the peaceful scenery, this park offers something for everyone. I highly recommend a visit to this stunning natural treasure.
Mehedi H — Google review
Great park. From the tower you have a great view onto the sump area. There’s actually multiple entrances and parking lots. Also nice for kids, as there are some boards with information about plants and animals.
Florian F — Google review
A great place to learn about peatlands. Many options to see, feel, and learn. Very suitable also for families with kids. Short and long hikes with and without staying overnight. Boardwalks right through untouched bog and fen areas. Experience nature here.
Klaus-Holger K — Google review
What a beautiful national park! We were just passing through and decided to make a stop at Östra Rockne. From there, we took the trail to Lake Svartgölen and back. The hike took less than an hour, but it was absolutely worth it. Stunning nature, peaceful surroundings, and the perfect way to stretch our legs during the trip. Highly recommend this short but rewarding walk if you’re in the area!
Evert J — Google review
I have been visiting all Swedish national parks this one I have pased by 100+ time but it come out 27out of 30 to visit and oh men this was just incredible. I went there early morning to get sunrise and it’s in my top 3 Swedish national parks it is so gorgeous. Hike is very easy it’s only flat. But the view you get in early morning is incredible beautiful. Must visit place if in area. Or even if you are not in are it’s so worth the visit. Easy to park and hike is just beautiful.
Martins F — Google review
Arranged a visit and met with with one of the park employees to explore and discuss the formation of the park and the plants located within it. We took a lot away from our visit this way and would recommend trying to do this if you can.

Very beautiful walk through the National Park, with several nice viewpoints. We took the long route, whitch should be 12 km long but in reality it was almost 15 km. Tough path to walk for children or people with mobility-problems. Slippery when wet.

Nice small candy shop. It is not clear what they make them selves and what they just sell here. Because i dont think they can make all the candies they sell here in the shop. I could be a good adition to make it more clear when what kind of candy is made. Putting candy in a sack whitout a story is not the most exiting thing to see.

The store sells both its own and other people's products in both bulk and whole, unbroken packages. Lovely to be able to buy a whole box of ryforskola or raspberry boats, to name just two products. However, a big drop in the bucket is that factory sales will close at the end of August 2018. A decision fans hope will be changed! (Original) Mycket härligt godis att välja på! It was some sort of opening a corner in my mind that wasnot opened yet. There were really nice perspectives in the way the art was shown. And the art itself had some mindboggeling ways. Like the tree shape on a cart and the birds and pears in a tree. We also loved the lillies area. As the artist himself was there we had the opportunaty to ask him some questions and share some insights.

A beautiful setting for persons who enjoy art, landscape, and farm animals. Not easy to reach with public transportation but I enjoy hiking....so it was perfect for me to walk 30 minutes from Bottnaryd. Lucky to have good weather on my visit. Isaberg Mountain Resort

Ski resort
Tours
Isaberg Mountain Resort is a delightful holiday village nestled just 500 meters from the ski slopes, making it an ideal getaway for both winter sports enthusiasts and summer adventurers. The resort boasts a variety of self-catering cottages equipped with fully functional kitchens, ensuring a comfortable stay. During the warmer months, visitors can indulge in numerous activities such as minigolf, tree-top climbing, mountain biking on diverse trails suited for all skill levels, and hiking through scenic paths.
The resort was a big hit with the kids (3 and 6 years). We booked a cabin and it was very nice - a little worn, but still very useful. They wrote that a few kitchen items were included, but that was about it. Dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, toilet paper is needed to be on your list of items to bring. You can buy the things there, but not cheap. Cabin was for 5 people so plenty of space and beds were comfortable. The ski slopes were very nice for people who start out skiing, ski school did a great job, comes at a price for private lessons, but worth it. The slopes can get a bit crowded from 10am to about 3pm, but if you are there in the low periods it will be a real nice time. We will be back again about time as it is pretty close to our home.
Thomas P — Google review
Expensive cabins, the ones where animals are allowed you pay extra costs on top for the animals and then we should put our animals into a cage if we are not at home!!! Even if you are only skiing for two hours. It is not allowed that the animals sit on the sofa, beds or armchairs. In my opinion, absolutely absurd, anti-animal and anti-customer.
Carola S — Google review
On our way back last Sunday, after staying at High Chaparral, we made a stop at Isaberg Mountain Resort and had a great time riding the rodel track is a thrilling experience that added a fun dose of adrenaline to our trip. The resort is full of exciting, well maintained outdoor activities and challenges, making it a perfect destination for active families. From mountain biking and tree-top adventures to canoeing and hiking, there’s something for everyone here. The atmosphere is lively yet surrounded by beautiful nature, and the first hour of parking is free, which makes short visits even more convenient.
Abbas G — Google review
Absolutely amazing. So many fun things to do, good good, good service. Highly recommend the high ropes tree tops course. Mini golf also looked great. Food was delicious too! Worth a visit at the minimum , but I'd honestly stay a night or two!
Alex D — Google review
Better than expected. My girlfriend and I camped in a tent. Really appreciated the stuga right by the tent area. Everything seamed clean and well maintained. We downhill MTB'd for a couple days, hit the freeride park, tuboggen ride, mini golfed, rented a canoe, swam and trail ran. Breakfast buffet was great and a worthy addition for us. Could spend a week here, with some xc biking and a round of golf. Cool spot for active couples and families. Even a outdoor gym. Reasonable prices too. Allt möjligt!
Alex G — Google review
Wonderful vacation spot. We were here during the summer and spent a week in a cabin. The lake is beautiful and basecamp offers more activities than we could do during our stay. Hiking, climbing, mountainbiking, etc. Bikes, canoes etc are for rent. It's all quite expensive but equipment is well taken care off and staff is very kind and helpful. Also the playground is lots of fun and our children (5 and 9) spent a lot of time there. And the climbing forest is a real challenge. The cabin was small but fine, clean and had everything we needed. It's good to be aware that it's on a busy road and there's lots of people coming for the day as well, so if you're looking for quiet time, you might want to stay somewhere else.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Gudhem Abbey, or Gudhems kloster, is a former Cistercian monastery located near Falköping, founded in the 12th century. It was established as a part of the Cistercian order, which emphasized a simple lifestyle and agricultural work. The abbey played a significant role in the local community, particularly in agriculture and education. Today, the ruins of the abbey are a historical site and can be explored here, also the remnants of the buildings and information about its history. It's a fascinating place for you that is interested in historical sites!

Cloister ruin from the 1100 hundreds. Excavated in early 1900. Nice place for a short stop to understand Nordic history. 4000 years younger than the pyramids, some perspective.

Really interesting Abbey, founded in the 12th century. Information signs well made. They describes the ruin and life back in the days. The building itself is also well preserved and restored. It’s easy to get around and have a closer look. I was even allowed to visit the cellar below the guesthouse. Parking a few meters away. Also fine to stay with motorhome. Ground relatively flat and graveled. Cellphone reception good.

This Museum was one of our Highlights this summer so far. Very good visitor reception, beautiful info material and many things to really do active. Very reasonable value for money, not as for example the saab museum which is expensive and offers nearly no visitor guidance. Nice bikepark in the summer. Has only 2 trails, but they are very long. One ist good for beginners, a very flowy line with lots of berms and a few side hits. The other one has rock slabs in it, reminiscent of Whistler trails. To recommend!

There isn’t many choices around west coast Sweden for an one-day skiing trip, Ulricehamns Ski Center is probably the best one. I forgot my skis outside the service center. When I went back there the day after, I found out that my skis are collected in a storage room along with other lost and found things. Very nice staffs working there.

The glass house Limmared

Cultural center
Shopping
The Limmared cultural center is a great place to learn how to glass blow. The instructors are very kind and helpful, and the food is also good. There are many vegan options available, and the tables in the glasshouse are the best. It can be warm in there with all of the glass blowing going on, but that's probably a good thing when it's cold outside!
Perfect little day trip to Glasets Hus in Limmared. There is an exhibition, live glass blowing, Lego playroom and a cafe as well as a gift shop and outside is a great playground!
AnneliePop P — Google review
Beautiful place! The glass art gallery is stunning, and the restaurant feels sophisticated yet rustic with a gorgeous glass conservatory, it's just perfect❤️. I've been visiting Glasets Hus in Limmared almost every Sunday for coffee and cake or something savoury during my stay in Månstad, great vibe, great food and really genuinely lovely staff❤️ a special thank you to Munnalisa for the uplifting chat and information about my next destination ❤️

Limmareds Glasbruk. A large glass exhibition with glass from the 17th century.  Shop with glass, café in conservatory. Art exhibitions and conferences. Here, you can also enjoy Buffet lunch of the day. Many places to find a table either in the winter garden or in the entrance hall with it’s special atmosphere. The food was good and staff friend.

Great place. The instructors were very kind and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try it glass blowing. The food was also good.
Daniel C — Google review
We came here for the museum and stayed for tasty lunch. What more can you want. In the museum you can watch glass artists while they are forming the molten glass into art. Nearby was a museum with changing collections. At our visit it had playing cards collections, which we found quite interesting.
TheEvdriver — Google review
To be honest disapointed. Though open till 8 on saturday the food stops at 4 & all the antique shops were closed. Perhaps another time we passed on the cycle trail & will pass again on our return north.

Awesome. Lunch was great. The kids enjoyed the glas blowing show and the Lego room. The playground outside is one of the best we have ever seen.

The whole area is amazing. The building is a part of Swedish history. There's a restaurant, or if you want, you can bring something on your own and sit in different parts of the area. If you pass Torpa stenhus, you will reach amazing forests and lakes all around where it's possible to sit and just enjoy the beauty of nature.

Gorgeous historical building with a small seperate museum. The lady guiding us around was excellent! Small minus: the stone house and the museum are ticketed separately and tickets can be bought only by Swish or you can pay by card at the restaurant but there is no info regarding this. A minus if you’re coming from abroad where the payment system Swish doesn’t exist. But well worth visiting regardless 😊

This place was recommended by some friends who live in Boras and I'm so glad we came, it's like walking back in time and the guided tour was wonderful( just a heads up it's in swedish) I would definitely recommend if your planning a trip to Sweden 🇸🇪

Very interesting castle, it's amazing how well preserved it is. Staff is very friendly. The only slight inconvenience is that english guide is available only at 11am on the weekends, but an english guide book is provided, which is great - I would advice to have around 2 hours to explore the castle and read historical references. Bonus point surroundings are very beautiful.
Alina P — Google review
Very old building but well preserved. Plenty of parking available, there is a public toilet available outside close to the parking.
Wachira L — Google review
AMAZING!! I went in without a tour but a info folder that was handed to me. Mind blown! This castle that looks fairly square on the outside has many layers inside and ’in between’ areas, a dungeon (of course) and so many stone stairways. It’s like stepping back into time. You can just imagine being there back then. Great information on history and persons in every room. Go and soak up the atmosphere!! Ps: I noticed this really nice, peculiar odour throughout the castle, from top levels to the dungeon. Very consistent, no ’hotspots’ of this nice subtle smell. I asked the lady at the front outside desk what it was assuming they had placed the scent but she had never noticed. If anyone knows what it is, please respond to this. I want it in my house! Also a nice café just next to Stenhus and toilets. Enjoy!

Very beautiful castle with quite the story. They even offer guide books in english and german. Can only recommend it, the tivket price is very fair. :)
Boyensn — Google review
We took the English tour and were absolutely impressed. Coming from a region in Germany full of castles, we had high expectations and this one met them in every way. The guide was fantastic, full of fascinating details throughout the tour. Afterwards you can explore on your own, wander the grounds and take beautiful photos. What made it even better: our guide stuck around at the entrance to share extra tips about what to see next in the area. Highly recommended for anyone who loves history and stunning sites!

Borås Zoo is home to 65 species, featuring naturalistic enclosures for African savannah beasts and Nordic animals. The zoo offers a diverse range of wildlife from different regions. It's a great place to observe and learn about various species in well-designed habitats. Whether you're interested in the majestic creatures of the African savannah or the unique animals native to Nordic regions, Borås Zoo provides an opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures up close.
It's amazing to see some animals I haven't seen since I last was in Kenya, and some new ones. Get up-close to elephants, giraffes, bears. It's really nice. Be prepared to walk though. A nice, lovely Sunday afternoon walk viewing the wildlife.
Simon N — Google review
Borås Zoo is a charming and intimate destination, ideal for families with young children. Despite its smaller size compared to Kolmården Zoo, it offers a well-curated selection of animals and a family-friendly layout that allows for easy exploration without being overwhelming. While there are fewer scheduled activities like feeding times, the zoo compensates with its relaxed atmosphere and the engaging nearby dinosaur park, which features life-sized replicas that captivate young visitors. Convenient paid parking is available, enhancing accessibility. Overall, Borås Zoo, with its manageable size and additional attractions, makes for a delightful and worthwhile day trip.

Really nice place for kids. Positives - clean, quiete, organized Must improve - Cheaper eateries, direct buses to zoo from gothenburg (give that option to those who are booking zoo tickets)2
Sunish S — Google review
The zoo is very well maintained, and the exhibits are close together, so it was easy to get around with the kids and see a lot without long walks. During summer, plan extra time for the children’s fountain area and bring swimwear.

Textilmuseet in Boras is a tribute to the city's rich textile heritage. Housed in a building shared with the university and companies, this museum showcases well-preserved industrial spinning and weaving machines from the 19th and 20th centuries. Visitors can explore various textile structures, records, videos, and interactive exhibits. The museum also features traditional and modern 3D printed materials used for furniture making.
I love this place! Take the kids there every year when visiting family. They have great exhibitions, dress up corner and an arts and crafts corner as well as a cafe and the entry fee is very affordable as kids are free. Great gift shop as well!

A great museum with very informative and thoughtfully curated exhibitions. We were pleasantly surprised to find a well-stocked DIY maker space with lots of great fabrics, buttons, scraps and working sewing machines. We were able to create this cool back-to-school outfit while we were there!
Coalfather — Google review
Interesting exposition of various machines. Very well preserved and you can almost touch them. Almost, because you'd lose a finger! They are in working condition and weave fabrics right in front of you! Listen to the story and see how parts of the machines dance. How clothes are/were made, from a block of raw cotton, into threads, into patterned fabric.
Tadeusz ( — Google review
Very informative place for people who love fashion trends and textile. Free entry if you’re student.
Mobasshir I — Google review
It's pretty good especially the ground floor of the exhibition and you can sew something by yourself upstairs using their materials and machines. But the exhibition upstairs is not the best even though there are designer clothes but the type which most of the people laughs at today like recent Balenciaga etc.

Best museum in Borås. Situated in simonsland the building own one part for the university and some companies itself and the museum located in the first floor and near to the food company. The content of this museum is all about the textile and more textile structures are displayed in this museum. Can find useful records and videos to view through the gallery and entrance free for student. For now they have a kind of game to play it calls tubes and this will available until August. Recommend place for knowledge and fun.

We -2 adults and 1 20 year old- visited this science center as a break in our travel and although it is more geared to elementary school aged children (and younger) we had a blast. It's all very hands on, very educational and fun. Great achievement.

What a great place for curious kids and grown ups. Lots of hands on activities. Great atmosphere in the second floor. Not too crowded when we were there mid july. You can bring your own food... actually you might want ro do that since the cafe didnt serve when we were there... There is also possibility to let the kids go crazy and grown up to sit and work in the eating zone. Felt the place was very safe. Great over all experience.

Anten-Gräfsnäs Järnväg

Rail museum
Tours
Sightseeing Tours
Wonderful trip and at the end there was a very good place to picnic (or go to a café) and swim in the lake in Gräfsnäs. Good tourist information, nice staff, and you get a lot of access to all the old steam train things.
Julia K — Google review
Old trains to see for those who like mechanical museums. Unfortunately there was no information about when the place is open beside the train schedule. We were there after the season when train goes so it was closed, but we could go a bit around anyway. There were more people there who also wish to see the place so seems that not only we were confused about if it’s open or not.
Aleksandra P — Google review
Very nice trip with an old locomotive. We did this with a group of Familys and we all had fun. Gräfsnäs is a wonderful place also. A big playground with a lakeview. And a tiny beach to jump in the water. Price is ok also.
Hilde W — Google review
Great place to visit. Make sure to check the website for "traffic days" in the diary as those days marked indicate days when you can travel either by old fashion electric train bus or a proper old steam train. The rail yard sports also a small museum hall and ice cream cafe. Toilets are also available as well as suitable for the disabled. Riding the train might be difficult for wheelchair bound so make sure to call ahead. Tickets are sold on a come first basis so ensure to arrive well in time of departure as the trains are very popular. This goes to finding parking spaces as well which can be challenging at times. But nonetheless a day out well worth doing for the whole family!
Maria A — Google review
Taking the old stream train from Anten to Gräfsnäs is definitely a trip that you will never forget. The train stops once during the journey to show how water is added. In the end of the journey, you can see how the locomotive changes direction. Very educational. It is quite popular in summer. Try to get there a bit earlier than the scheduled time in order to guarantee the tickets.
Lei Z — Google review

Tjolöholm Castle

Castle
Nature & Parks
English-style castle in early 20th-century decor, with landscaped park & gardens, plus guestrooms.
Castle Visit (Not Stay) I am lucky I visited this castle and took a guided tour. The entire premises (Entrance/parking/gardens/Cafes/The Castle itself) are well maintained. The castle is in excellent shape and very elegant. Just imagining what the original residents must have felt to stay here. The guided tour is nice. Gives quick insights into the castle history. There is a nice beach behind the castle. In a summer, families can arrange a one day picnic to this place. Tourists should allocate around 3-4 hours to visit the place in its entireity. Tickets can be purchased on site. There is not much rush.
Eshant S — Google review
Visited from a cruise ship while docked in Gothenburg. Firstly it is not a hotel but a visitor attraction and museum. It took us around 30 mins on the coach to arrive at the castle but it is well worth the drive. It is now a museum as such and is very well maintained. We had a guided tour and the history was explained very well from the castles conception to the family that built it (actually a Scotsman). What I liked most was that while it is a museum walking around it still felt lived in and quite homely to me which added to its attraction. All the original artefacts and fittings are still on display and there is plenty to see. There is some great views from the windows and the gardens are well maintained. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour and I would consider it a must see attraction when visiting Gothenburg. You can get afternoon tea if you wish but unfortunately we did not have the time for that.
Keith B — Google review

Christoffer S — Google review
Right. So you get to Tjolöholm. And of course, being in Scandinavia, it's a few minutes past 5 pm, so the doors are all locked. Perfectly predictable, isn't it? A bit of a shame, but as it turns out, it really doesn't matter. Even from the outside, the place is just brilliant. My word, it's a magnificent, imposing building that looks like something out of a film. And the location? A proper triumph. Perched right there, overlooking the water. It's utterly stunning and perfectly placed. It proves that a place can be brilliant even if you can’t get inside. It makes you feel genuinely happy for the person who lived there. A proper, lucky soul.
Maciej K — Google review

I love visiting Tjolöholm castle, although its more like a stately home. You'd never imagine this place in Sweden, its more befitting to a victorian family in England. Not surprising as it was built as a tribute to a Scottish business man by his widow. Lots of interesting rooms to visit. It's changed since I first visited 30 years ago. Definitely worth a visit. Great cafe on-site! Car park could be closer. My sister struggled to walk to the home due to recovery from surgery but persisted.

Visited Hede Fashion Outlet recently and had a good experience overall. The outlet has a nice atmosphere-spacious, clean, and not too crowded. It's a great place to spend a few hours shopping. You'll find many big international brands, especially for dresses, bags, and shoes. Prices vary-some stores offer real outlet deals, while others feel more like regular retail with small discounts. But if you look around, you can definitely find good bargains. There's also a small selection of cafés and restaurants to take a break-like Espresso House

The place to be if you know which brands you need. It is a compact outlet centre so the number of brands is very limited. You get good deals though. The parking is huge and free. For those who get hungry from carrying all the bags: there are restaurants and bars.

This outlet is quite different from what you might know from countries like Germany or the Netherlands. It is smaller, the selection is less, and it is super empty. However, the salespeople are very nice and try to help wherever they can! Compared to the aforementioned countries, the prices are significantly cheaper. Therefore, it is definitely worth a visit to save some money.

Museums
Universeum is a top-notch museum for kids in Sweden, featuring seven floors of interactive experiences with themes like the brain, the ocean, and space. The museum boasts a huge diplodocus at its entrance and is located near Liseberg amusement park. Visitors can explore large aquariums, a rainforest with tropical birds and butterflies, life-sized dinosaurs, and even experience Swedish wilderness and space travel. Additionally, the Universeum Science Discovery Centre offers interactive experiments and a rainforest exhibit.
A fantastic place for both adults and children! The facilities are very clean and well-maintained, making it a pleasure to visit. The restrooms are spotless, and there is also a small café where you can take a break and enjoy a snack. The exhibition is divided into several themed zones, each offering something unique. The tropical zone is particularly impressive — it’s quite hot inside, so I recommend not bringing warm clothes, otherwise you’ll just end up carrying them around. While there aren’t a huge number of animals, the way everything is presented, the design, and the overall concept are truly impressive for both kids and adults. The large aquariums filled with different species of fish are especially captivating, giving you the feeling of being immersed in an underwater world. This is definitely a place worth visiting with the whole family. It combines entertainment with educational value, leaving you with vivid memories and a strong desire to come back again.

Overall, decent experience, but after visiting a few places like this around Europe it is unfortunately average. Animals are few and between, some tanks are dirty and with a lot of green algae. My child had a decent time but as a adult you would expect a little bit more.

Such an amazing place! A must visit if you go to Gothenburg There is something for everyone here- space, dinosaurs, science, aquarium, rainforest, kids place area. There is a cafe and restaurant on site too, we went to the cafe and the food was lovely we got a grilled cheese and a cookie. The place itself is fantastic, there is so many opportunities to learn things and to get involved in activities. It truly is such a lovely place that you can spend hours in! Would definitely recommend!!!

Great experience! I actually went twice during my visit to Gothenburg. I went by myself at first and spend 1.5 hours there, enjoyed it so much that I went again with my partner for another hour. So much to see and enjoy for all ages. Definitely recommend visiting. It was a bit busy when I went during the day because there were some school classes also there (a lot of kids). The second time I went an hour before closing and it was quieter then.

Was a bit disappointed, there were a lot of aquariums or displays « in construction » or empty. The aquarium side seemed to be a bit abandoned. There was still a lot of information given by the posters. The rainforest was very nice, with birds flying freely in the space. Again, many things were just empty. It is nice that you have other exhibitions includes with you entry (body, space, data). It’s very kids oriented. Normally I enjoy aquariums as much as kids, but for this one I should’ve skipped it, not enough fishes (no jelly fish for example, very few mantras, lack of fish in the big fish tunnel). Good thing is after 16:30 it’s only 200kr!

It's nicely designed & well made, we loved it! -1⭐️ because they (currently?) have a massive spider problem! Codwebs are EVERYWHERE & you genuinely have to be careful from spiders hanging from ceilings (we had to duck under 3 & probably still disturbed some nets) It therefore looks a little badly taken care of because of that.. So be warned it you suffer from Arachnophobia haha

A full day of fun, learning, and exploring nature! Universeum is great for kids and families. Don’t miss the incredible Wisdome experience; the 3D universe and T.Rex shows were highlights. Be sure to ask for the English recorded machine if needed. The Aquarium and reptiles section was very good. While the Rainforest was good, we noticed many animals were missing and could only spot flamingos. Despite the missing rainforest residents, the overall experience was excellent and highly recommended.

Honestly, it's a bit for kids but me and two other 40 year old men still enjoyed it. Go in, go to the elevators at the back and go to floor 7. We went in after 3pm so it was cheaper. From there there's a series of ramps and you can basically walk down through the whole building. Floor to ceiling fish tanks, reptile area, space and science area with a cloud chamber that was cool. Little screen with some cool videos. Then you can go through the hot house floors, nipping out through the airlocks to checkout the floors adjacent on your way down as it's very humid in there, breaks recommended. For us it filled a few hours and one of us needs a walking stick so highly recommend that top down route for that reason.

The Gothenburg Museum of Art is a must-visit attraction in the heart of the city, featuring an impressive collection of masterworks from the Renaissance to modern day. Housed in an unassuming yet remarkable building, it showcases European artists' works from the 1400s to contemporary times. The museum also boasts a three-star rating and is recognized as one of Sweden's top attractions.
This museum is truly a hidden gem. It wasn’t crowded when we visited, which made it easy to take our time and really enjoy the paintings without distractions. We were pleasantly surprised by the collection, a great mix of Nordic artists alongside well-known European names. This place is absolutely worth a visit.

Very nice museum. I wasn't expecting such a nicely designed interior from looking at the outside of the building. Great exhibition space and a very nice mix between 'modern' and more 'classic' art works. And what a wonderful collection of expressionist works. Highly recommended.
Frederik C — Google review
Wonderful museum. The building itself is just magnificent. There are great open spaces inside to display all kinds of art and sculptures. I had to visit 2 times as I couldn't do it justice in one place. Was lucky to catch the APOCALYPSE exhibition. Really well curated. We went early doors to avoid the crowds as it got a bit busy. The café attached was a bit odd, like a wine bar at midnight. We went to the very popular cafe a short walk away Victor's and had a gorgeous cake and coffee.
Dona S — Google review
The place was a total surprise. To start, when you only pay about 6 euros for entry, you don’t really expect much. But right from the first room, you’re amazed by how incredible the collection is. It features pieces from famous painters, as well as Nordic artists I had never encountered before and immediately appreciated. Truly stunning and worth every second.
Fazil B — Google review
Beautiful museum. Lots of different types of artwork. Plenty of benches to rest on. Info on art is in English as well as Swedish. Staff were very friendly. Overall a great experience.

Enjoyed it so much! It’s a huge building with various art, so worth putting on the comfiest shoes, bringing a water bottle and lots of time . The (security)staff was very friendly too. We visited the APOCALYPSE exhibition, so well done!
Alexandra T — Google review
One of the most important museums in Scandinavia, not only in Gothenburg! You can see works by Rembrandt, Picasso, Van Gogh, Munch, Monet, as well as contemporary artists such as Charlotte Gyllenhammar and Lina Selander. We were lucky to also see the amazing Apocalypse exhibition currently on display. A museum well worth visiting!
Nancy P — Google review
A great place to visit! I especially enjoyed the 6th floor, which was the most interesting to me. It featured incredible paintings and sculptures by masters like Degas, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Rodin, Chagall, and Picasso. The exhibits were beautifully displayed, making it easy to appreciate the detail and artistry. Entry was free thanks to Kulturkallas, which made the experience even better. A must-visit for anyone who loves art and culture.

The Garden Society, also known as Tradgardsforeningen, is a well-preserved 19th-century park located in the heart of Gothenburg. Established in 1842, it offers visitors a chance to wander through lush rose gardens, woodlands, and admire sculptures. The park features historic buildings dating back to its establishment and a striking Palm House inspired by London's Crystal Palace.
🌸🌷🌿 Trädgårdsföreningen – A Blooming Paradise in Gothenburg 🌿🌷🌸 What a truly magical garden! 💫 Bursting with flowers in every color and shape imaginable 🌺🌼🌻—and buzzing with happy insects enjoying the nectar 🐝🦋. There are cozy benches scattered throughout the park 🪑🧺, perfect for taking a relaxing break if the garden’s size feels a bit much for one stroll 🚶‍♀️. The atmosphere is peaceful, fresh, and full of life 🍃🌞. 🍰🍦 The café is a treat—delicious pastries for grownups and refreshing ice cream for the kids. A lovely spot to enjoy a sweet break in beautiful surroundings ☕🥐 The grand glasshouse was closed when we visited 🚪❌, but honestly, the garden itself was so spacious and full of charm that we didn’t mind one bit 🌳💖

I went to this part of Gothenburg to see a concert at the Trädgårdsföreningen park in the city centre. The Garden Society building itself was being renovated so I was covered in scaffolding and wind sheets, and it was temporarily closed to the public. The park and gardens outside the building were a wonderful setting for the concert, next to the river. There was a peaceful, relaxed vibe and the Swedish city folk are friendly, sociable and welcoming. It’s an immaculately, clean city.

Garden very well maintained. Abundance of roses. Many hidden paths, benches and well curated areas. Pity Palm House was closed for upgrade. Visited in early September 2025.

Main greenhouse was closed (for renovations) on my visit, but the property was free (no cost) to explore. Property was beautiful and it’s a charming place to explore or relax.

Very nice park with rosegarden and greenhouses. The large palmhus is being renovated, two smaller wings are still open. Picknick area and free toilet available

The Garden Society is a very big green complex in the sole city center. It follows all the way the Gota river canal and continues into the next door Kungspark. Garden society consists of several green areas with fountains, flowers, rose garden, kids playground,.... There're many paths running through, as well benches to rest and places to picnic or just lay on the grass. The Palm house is currently closed for renovations. We were there during ACDC concert, so it was packed with fans.

Maritiman is a unique museum and aquarium located on the world's largest floating sea vessel museum. It houses 19 different maritime vessels, including a submarine and a Swedish destroyer called Smaland. The museum offers interactive experiences that allow visitors to explore the impact of the sea and maritime culture on the city of Gothenburg. Highlights include a high-tech navigation simulator, displays of treasures owned by Swedish sailors, and an aquarium with tropical and Nordic tanks.
This is an amazing museum because they let you explore almost every part of the ships on display. It is true that sometimes it's not obvious where you need to go next, but it was part of the fun. The submarine was especially fun because you climb into it through a hatch, just like the sailors would. Needless to say that many parts of the ships would be out of reach for people with mobility issues. The ice cream at the cafeteria was great too.
Tim G — Google review
Very nice. Tickets were weird and in the end we got in for free. Ive been to other ships that are more interactive than this place but still nice to see. The submarine is also pretty uniqe
Bob B — Google review
If you are into this kind of thing, then its a great visit. About 4 ships and a.Submarine to explore Some of them are a tight fit and there lots of small spaces so bare this in mind when you visit.
Jay C — Google review
Lovely museum to learn about naval history and innovations! Can easily spend a few days exploring the boats and ships. Well maintained and cleaned too! I would love if there were more detailed tours that I could attend. I like the short tours but I am sure that the boats and ships have more stories than that!
Sameer S — Google review
This museum literally floats! Every part is on a boat, ship or submarine and it was so interesting. The main ship is a retired destroyer and we were able to explore every floor from the captains chair right at the top on desk to the ammunition stores and the engine room right down in the hull. And then we got to go on a submarine... And then a patrol boat and an old fire engine ship. Highly, highly recommended. I would suggest allowing at least two hours for your visit.
Naomi O — Google review
You get to see some interesting vessels. Lots of very interesting signage explains everything with some history. There were a few signs without English versions , but in understandable situations. Figuring where there arrows wanted you to go however was a little more challenging sometimes. Overall very nice, and worth the ticket prices.
Joshua H — Google review
There was a lot to see! It gets quite hot especially in the U-boat and the deeper parts of the ship. Some places didn’t seem to be maintained so well but overall it was a good experience.
Juyoung P — Google review
Super cool boat museum, I've been to many in the past but have never had to crawl through so many little hatches and get to see so much of the boats! Things I've read about came to life, especially in the submarine but even for the large war ship, you get a sense of the daily living and working conditions, details like repairs and engineering and the power systems, which are usually not part of accessible tours I've seen. Do check it out! It is but accessible at all, many steep, narrow ladders and hatches. Much ducking involved if you're tall. You can tour a larger destroyer used on stealth missions, a submarine from then cold war, a fire ship, a flat river gunboat (unfortunately for this one the signage is all in Swedish), and a smaller more recent patrol vessel. Super cool. Bonus, the gift shop had marine wall stickers I've been looking for for a long while 😁

Gothenburg Botanical Garden, also known as Botaniska Tradgarden, is a sprawling and tranquil oasis that offers a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Established in 1916, this expansive 432-acre garden is one of Europe's largest botanical gardens. It features over 16,000 plant species, including rare and endangered ones, housed in greenhouses with exhibitions.
Beautiful Garden with loads of different plants and trees. You can walk around and enjoy nature. It’s wheelchair accessible but the garden in total is having some steep parts. The restaurant in the garden has some really delicious food for reasonable prices. The entry is free but you can pay something if you want to help keeping the garden - amazing concept. I will definitely come back here ❤️

One of the largest botanical gardens in Europe. Free admission, with optional donations. It feels more like a vast natural park — almost like a national park — right in the middle of Gothenburg. Perfect for picnics, sunbathing, or hiking up to a small mountain that was recently cleared after being overgrown for decades. Walking here feels like stepping into wild nature. Highly recommended for stress relief.

Well kept charming botanical garden! Its so lush in greenery. Landscaping is stunning! There are plenty of walking paths as well as running. Its a green lush haven from the city. Can easily take the tram. Very much worth the visit!
Miss H — Google review
Like many things in Gothenburg there is construction and/or renovation occurring and the botanical garden is no exception as the glass houses are being replaced and won’t be open until 2030. The map of the garden is a great guide but recommend going to the wild side, Smith Valley and getting to the high point with great views.drop down from here into the rock garden with the waterfall. Definitely worth the visit.

Great place for the weekend - lots of pathways, interesting and unusual plants. There is also a cafe along the way and the gift shop and restrooms. Admission is for free, with possible volunteer contribution. Really worth visiting ! Can’t wait when the greenhouse will be opened.

Really amazing this place, it's so nice and big. I need to visit it one more time in spring to see all the flowers. But beautiful to take a walk in the park.

A lovely place to enjoy nature and take in the colors and scents. Wide variety of plants and flowers. Peaceful, well-maintained. Amazing hiking trails with breathtaking city and nature views. I loved the place!
Marijana — Google review
It is a nice, diverse garden with different sections. It also goes up quite a bit, so be prepared. The mainroad is easy to walk, at some places it gets quite steep. This could be difficult for older people or people with children. Additionally, there are many side ways but there are steps most of the time, so plan accordingly. We couldn't visit the greenhouses because they are under construction (like 50% of the city at the moment, at least it felt like it)

This is magnificent. The place is like a small heaven. Clean, quiet, and you gonna be impressed wherever you look. You can see is well taken care, people care about the environment. I ll definitely recommend taking one day to explore all that. There is a small coffee place with food also. It's not a big variety, but enough to recharge your energy. We bought a 3 day city pass, so this was included, we didn't need to stay in the queue or pay anything at the entrance.

Slottsskogen is a beautiful park 🌳. Clean and well-kept, with ice cream stands 🍦 and cafés ☕, and a fantastic playground that’s well equipped with a slide 🛝, obstacle course 🧗, swings 🪂, and much more. Kids can have a great time here for hours on a sunny day ☀️. There’s also a free zoo 🐧🦌 with penguins, moose, and various forest animals 🐿️. In the children’s zoo 🐐, little ones can pet goats, sheep 🐑, and more. During summer, there’s horseback riding 🐎 too. You can walk for hours in the park, simply admiring the beautiful forest 🌲, the lovely sounds 🎶, and the stunning colors of nature 🎨.

An amazing park in the center of a city. Green everywhere, perfectly kept and with some areas with live animals like deers, sheep, chicken, seals or penguins. I guess is an old facility and that swedish would build something bigger for these animals as the space is quite small.
