A delightful pit stop for any traveler! The Loacker Coffee Bar and Shop in Austria is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth or in need of a caffeine boost. Passing by? Make sure to schedule in a break here. This charming spot offers a wide variety of delicious Loacker treats, from their classic wafers to other tempting goodies. It's a fantastic opportunity to stock up on your favorites or discover new flavors. Beyond the impressive selection of Loacker products, the coffee is excellent, making it the perfect place to recharge. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making for a pleasant and relaxing break during your journey. Highly recommend!

A wonderful stop for travelers! The shop is fully packed with unique Loacker products that are rare to find elsewhere perfect for gift ideas. Plus, they have a cozy coffee shop inside with friendly and helpful staff who make the experience even better. A great place to take a break and pick up something special. Highly recommended!
Fahad A — Google review
I’m giving this place just two stars because it’s not my cup of tea. Honestly, I can’t understand why they’re so popular. They offer a normal experience and industrial-quality food. There’s a shop and a live experience that you need to book very in advance, and a month is not enough. The experience is free for spectators, and in my opinion, it’s more than enough. I don’t recommend these places, but if you’re a fan and you eat them while you shouldn’t, then that’s your sanctuary.
Angelo A — Google review
If you love Loacker chocolate, you’ve got to check this place out! They even have some exclusive flavors you won’t find anywhere else. I had a great time here and definitely recommend stopping by.
Shaikha A — Google review
Loacker never disappoints! We recently visited and had a fantastic experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the space was clean, cozy, and inviting. The quality of the products speaks for itself—crispy, light wafers with rich, creamy fillings. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients. If you’re a fan of authentic, tasty snacks (especially hazelnut or chocolate lovers), Loacker is a must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth or looking for a unique treat!

1) No tour inside the factory! 2) Far away from normal route(Kaprun, Innsbruck, Wörgl and Zell am See) 3) Booking online only for workshop! 4) Coffee shop is good and cheap prices Note: Not recommended if it’s not on your route..
SilveR F — Google review
“Loacker’s World of Goodness in Heinfels, located on the Austrian-Italian border, has welcomed visitors to its coffee shop, storefront, and interactive pastry workshop since 2010, while the parent company Loacker was originally founded in 1925 in Bolzano by Alfons Loacker.” To break that down: • Loacker S.p.A. was founded in 1925 in Bolzano (South Tyrol, Italy) by Alfons Loacker . • The site in Heinfels, featuring the coffee shop, exhibition, and interactive pastry workshop (collectively known as the “Loacker World of Goodness”), opened in 2010 . So, to answer your question: the Loacker coffee shop and factory area in Heinfels has been established since 2010, while the broader company traces its origins back to 1925. Highly recommended to give it a visit and chill-out and buy some gifts .
Said A — Google review
The visit boils down to shopping at the outlet for chocolates, as there’s little else to do. No engaging activities or experiences are available without prior booking, and the early closing time limits your options. During busy periods, it gets overcrowded, and the staff seem overwhelmed, making the place feel chaotic and poorly managed.

(Translated by Google) For children of all ages ☺️ I have written very few reviews in my life but this one was truly deserved! I chose this experience as a 40th birthday present for my partner and I couldn't have made a better choice!!! Our dog had a blast too!!! The welcome from Sara, Roberto (the owner) and his family was nothing short of warm, the houses are splendid and, in their simplicity, really comfortable and well organized and the breakfast and packed lunch exceed all expectations. We also had the pleasure of tasting the grappa produced by Mr. Roberto's distillery and I recommend all lovers of spirits to try them because they are truly excellent! If you are looking for a holiday with every comfort go elsewhere, but if you are looking for an experience to remember in a beautiful valley and excellent food go to Tree Village!!!

(Translated by Google) We booked the combo package, 1 night in the treehouse + 1 night in the hotel, and we were happy with it. The treehouse experience is fun, definitely more appreciated by children than adults. There's no electricity, no lights, a shared bathroom, no pillows, just a mattress, and plenty of nature all around (including mosquitoes), with a beautiful starry sky at night. The alpine pool is lovely for swimming, and you can rent bikes to explore the valley. Breakfast on site is very good. The hotel experience was definitely more comfortable: excellent hotel, beautiful rooms, very kind and helpful staff, and good food in their restaurant. Colazione in loco molto buona. L' esperienza in hotel decisamente più comoda, ottimo albergo, belle camere, personale gentilissimo e disponibile, buona cucina nel loro ristorante.

The environment is unique and accessible to everyone, as long as you're used to camping and adventure. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with children or a toddler who wants to try this kind of experience. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfasts are unique and delicious. There are games for children, an alpine pool for swimming (regularly emptied and cleaned), and bathrooms with room-temperature water. (Original) Esperienza a dir poco fantastica.

(Translated by Google) A truly unique place, where you actually sleep in tree houses. Perhaps one of the few in Italy. The houses are made of wood and in excellent condition. The tree village offers complete tranquility and relaxation. A little adaptability is required, but that's normal for an environment like this. The collaboration is excellent. A wonderful place for children. (Original) Un posto sicuramente originale, dove si dorme veramente in case su alberi. Forse uno dei pochi in Italia. Le casette sono in legno e in ottimo stato. (Translated by Google) Three Village is a unique and exciting experience! Suitable for both adults and children, as long as they have a spirit of adaptability! The welcome is excellent, the cabins are clean and well-kept, and the breakfast is excellent. You choose the day before and it's brought to you in the morning at 8:00 in containers sorted by the cabin's name. Free bikes of various sizes are available within the park (not for everyone, so first come, first served). I recommend bringing your own helmets, especially for the little ones! There's a nice playground and a small pool of water where you can cool off. The bathrooms are very clean, even though they're shared, and the shower water is cool, so you need to be adaptable! I recommend staying a night in a cabin just to try the experience, and then staying at the Miramonti Hotel, which is very nice and has friendly staff! Highly recommended! (Translated by Google) Today I accompanied a friend to enjoy this wonderful adventure with her daughter and two friends. Sleeping in a tree in nature, hiking, swimming in a river, without electricity and hot water, with only the essentials, and spending time with loved ones with fewer distractions is a special experience. The place is beautiful, expectations are high. The website states "A passion, not a job," which is why I gave it 2 stars; I would have given it 0. Story: We were welcomed by the operator Sara. We asked what activities we could do, since the website has a section dedicated to activities and suggestions. Response: "We don't have a disco, we only have rides and nature." Dear operator, you have so much to tell and inform your customers about: trails, rivers, pools and sulfur waters, where to eat...etc. They gave us the first house, but it was full of ants. The operator solved it with chemical spraying and then airing it out. We are asking for an alternative house so we don't sleep in a chemical environment, which isn't exactly organic. Second house, a crosspiece of the terrace floor is torn. But I wonder, will you see the houses before assigning them to customers, are they safe? Let's point out Sara's answer, "Yes, I knew, just be careful." No, the girls are small, and it's dangerous. Finally, the third house is fine. There's a vending machine for water, but it's a shame the drinks get jammed, and the helpful staff member, looking annoyed, sometimes does it. Okay, so she has the keys, she gives us back the money, and gives us another drink. I don't know what to do, I'm sorry! In short, inadequate staff, with no understanding of how to welcome customers, and with no passion for what they do. Poor maintenance, and in some cases dangerous. I hope management takes action. You decide. Non so cosa fare mi dispiace! Insomma personale inadeguato e senza una cognizione di come si accolgono i clienti e con nessuna passione per quello che fa. Manutenzione scarsa e in alcuni casi pericolosa. Spero che la direzione prenda provvedimenti. Valutate Voi.

Outdoor Activities
Alpine Coaster Kaprun is a family-friendly mountain resort offering year-round entertainment, including the Maisiflitzer Alpine Coaster. This thrilling 1.3 km track allows riders to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h as they race down towards the valley, encountering bridges, waves, jumps, and banked loops along the way. The coaster provides an adrenaline rush for both kids and adults.
It is very nice. I recommend on doing part of the trip by foot and go back with the carts. The self drive carts are short but nice experience for the kids!
Adi D — Google review
The track feels very repetitive, with the same style and a series of similar turns. I find it extremely overpriced, and I don’t think it’s fair that the fee is charged per person rather than per sled

Maisi Flitzer is an exciting alpine coaster in Kaprun that’s fun for both kids and adults. The ride takes you down the mountain on a twisting track with beautiful views all around. You can control your own speed, so it’s as thrilling or relaxing as you want it to be. It’s safe, well-organized, and a fantastic activity to add some adrenaline to your trip. Great for families or groups of friends.
Our_discoveries5 — Google review
Very cool and great fun The very big downside is that distances between cars are not controlled and dependant on the rider, but with kids this can be a big risk They automatically take a photo of you during the ride and then u can get it printed out for 6 Euro. The picture has your speed as well :) There are some slides next to it which are fun but too expensive to be for a 1 Euro each time
Majed E — Google review
One of the best activities in Kaprun. We went through the cables cars to the top of the mountain. Amazing views over there. Included in the Kaprun Zell am See Summer Card.

Good fun, if you’re looking for something else to do besides skiing. It is however a little expensive for the time that it takes to get up and down….the trip up actually taking longer than the trip down. Can imagine that’s a great option in summer when there is no snow.

Specialty Museums
Vötter's Fahrzeugmuseum is a small but fascinating showcase of over 200 vehicles and motorbikes, mainly from the 1950s to the 1970s. The exhibition area covers 1000 square meters and features an impressive array of cars, motorcycles, tractors, military vehicles, and even a train and cable car. Visitors can also experience driving the world's largest snowmobile at speeds of up to 50 km per hour.
Imagine a well maintained lovingly tended museum with classic cars and bikes and tractors and all classes of automobiles from the dawn of the automobile era to the modern day with a wide range of vehicles from across the world. Just fantastic for kids and automobile lovers and geeks. It’s worthy of spending half a day here. Rich descriptions and the vehicles are so well maintained even the Trabants and Ladas - if you ever want to understand the difference in manufacturing quality in Germany and inside the Iron Curtain here are vivid examples. Fabulous views of the Alps. Extremely small museum given the large number of vehicles. A must visit if you are visiting Zell am See.

Borgate Sappada Vecchia

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Borgate Sappada Vecchia, also known as Old Sappada, is a charming hamlet located in the upper part of the town. It is characterized by ancient wooden houses built using the Blockbau architectural technique.
(Translated by Google) They are one of the most enchanting places you can even imagine. In a fairytale landscape context, framed by the Dolomites and the Carnic Alps, in the heart of the Sappada valley, there are ancient villages where you can still breathe the scent of the wood used to build the typical local houses way back in 1600 and the atmosphere is that which dates back hundreds of years ago. In winter with its white blanket and in summer with the bright colors of the balcony flowers, Sappada Vecchia contains one of the most beautiful architectural and landscape treasures in Italy and in the world.

Summer toboggan run
Sights & Landmarks
Lienzer Bergbahnen - Hochstein offers great value with its ticket prices, which include a ride on the cable car or chair lift up and a thrilling coaster ride down. There are various packages available for multiple rides as well. The 2.7km long coaster provides an exhilarating experience, starting at a height that surprises riders taking the cable car up. Visitors appreciate the smooth and fast ride, especially considering the reasonable ticket price that includes the lift.
I really recommend this place. Firstly we went on the top and saw some zoo and zip line, but we wanted more and decided to go up 1000 m for another mountain. It was amazing. We spent 16€ for both tickets and it is really cool. On the top we found lake, we could swim there but we didn’t have a swim suit. We spoke to cows 🐄 and tried to fit them. Views were beautiful. I didn’t want to go down and didn’t expect how amazing on the highest top. I even cried because it was really emotional. After that we used children small cars and it is funny. I recommend this place to visit definitely 💯

EXPENSIVE Lack of information & and signs The whole green area is "PRIVATE". ridiculous, dumbness, madness, The Sommerrodelbahn is the best part
H P — Google review
What a buzz, super fast, don't use the brakes, just let it go. Had a ball, my second visit, just as good as the first. If you are in the vicinity, its worth a trip. €13 for a "run", but it goes for around 2 to 3 kms of track. Well worth it. Go during the week, weekends would be very busy.
Steve S — Google review
Be warned stupid guys operate the bergbahn. They hit the brake repeatedly while gondola and chairs are midair. Those things swing dangerously 100m above ground after their fun with the brake button. And when you arrive shaking like leave they just say it is normal....It is not normal to play with other peoples lives.

This is the biggest steal ever! We paid 80 euro's for two adults and 2 kids. We were behind someone who was scared so we we had to slow down all the time and had a very slow and stupid ride. When we complaint at the ticket point the women wasn't taking our complaint serious and said that it is our own risk while we do this in summer holiday when it is busy. Big fail! Shame on you!
Roy T — Google review
There are so many activities to do there. Go up with the cable car, and there are multiple things to do for kids. Petting zoo, playground, climbing forest. Or take the second lift to the top with gorgeous scenery of the valley! If you come in early summer there are so many flowers in bloom! And if you go down, take the roddelbahn down to the start. It's included in the price. The prices are very reasonable! Highly recommended!
Job G — Google review
It is one of the best summer coaster , the only concern is the guy with beard down in the cable car is very not polite and rough to deal with him

Mölltaler Gletscher is a popular ski resort known for its long trails and breathtaking views. Situated at 3100 meters above sea level, it offers year-round skiing opportunities. The winter sports areas in the region are extensive, catering to both skiers and non-skiers. Visitors can also enjoy activities like cross-country skiing and ice skating at nearby locations such as Weissensee.
Beautiful resort, great well maintained runs, views were incredible. The restaurant at the top is well stocked and easy to use with a fantastic tarasse you can admire the view from whilst enjoying your lunch. Can recommend last week of Jan as the queues were practically non existent so you could ski loads, hence 67.00 EUR became value for money 😅

Beautiful place to visit in Summer. Gorgeous views and many hike options. The food at restaurant on top is excellent, so I totally recommend this place.

We have been there for the second time. The place always amazes us. We had great weather, around 11-13 °C, not crowded. We took the gopass tickets online (Schareck) It is a must if spending time in the area

Smaller but not overcrowded ski resort. Great slopes for bigginers and also intermediate skiers. I reccomend this ski resort.

Ok for a day. Small skiing resort, expensive 66€, with gopass 58, but got some bad app during registration, that tried to take money from my card, be aware. We had cloudy weather, otherwise is quite good freeride, when there's snow...

Great place to ski but so so for me since I went for sight view. Recommend to go around January for better ski experience
Zaito — Google review
-Train starts from this location. Took the train and gondola up to the peak at the end of June, there was still snow however it was cloudy and foggy at times But still got to see some amazing views! the train as standard not a bad experience. The gondola Cars are small and the windows are really scratched so viewing the area from them is difficult which was disappointing. I still highly recommend it but can be a bit expensive.

It wasn't too busy and really clean, a nice getaway for people hiding from the hot sun. If it's cold on the ground, definitely bring a coat! Great hiking, and also a small restaurant with food and drinks. Get the Kartnten-card to go up for free!

Lots and lots of photo's, some mannequins in army clothes, lots of medallions and rusty guns. Interesting if you're from the region or a WW1 veteran, less interesting for others. The museum is dated and quite boring for children, no interactivity whatsoever.

Very interesting museum about the first world war in the mountains between Italy and Austria. Expect a lot of pictures and relicts build around themes like the different mountain regions, military use of cable carts and so on. But beware that the explanations are only in German and Italian!

Very interesting museum, with lots of pictures and memories of the first world war. The intent of the museum is the demonstration that wars are useless and dangerous for everybody. We really had a good time today.

The two best pools are always closed on weekdays, which does not make sense. The outdoor pool (there is only one) is very tiny. Apart from those it’s a nice place.
Andras D — Google review
Really nice place if you like being chased by male staff to inform you that you should be naked infront of a bunch if guys even if you don't feel comfortable. If a spa insists on you going to the sauna and steam room naked they should be segregated for the comfort and safety of women. Its also a great place if you enjoy relaxing on a reclining chair whilst looking out onto other buildings , such as a hairdressing salon, a church and tourists advice office. Very relaxing over all , and not at all creepy .
Lisa S — Google review
There's a lot I love here. Never a wait to check in. Very pleasant staff. Water temp is perfect for me. The locker rooms and showers are very nice and clean. I only wish the pools were a bit longer for swimming laps. It can get a bit loud with excited children having fun. Just know that in advance and you're sure to have a good time and work out. There are rules to be aware of before using the saunas and it's necessary to wear caps for swimming in the pools. You can buy them at check in. I have to edit my review. On the last two visits in August, the chlorine smell was strong. I am guessing it is related to the increased number of people using the pools. And I discovered when I asked about the chlorine smell of late that the water in the warm pools is plain water. IT IS NOT MINERAL WATER FROM THE SOURCE NEARBY. IT IS PLAIN OLD WATER THAT HAS CHLORINE. It is, however, at a comfortable temp for me to swim. I will continue to go as I had purchased a package of 8 or 9 at a discounted rate. After that, I will look around. I also discovered the room with the jets, like a huge jacuzzi. Very relaxing. And I am still disappointed that it is not the mineral water. When I was discussing it with the woman at reception she said it says that on the website. I asked her to show me and translated into English it simply says there are two classic pools. Apparently this means the water is not mineral rich. She also told me they could not heat the water to the 36 degrees as it would destroy the benefits. I asked Chat GPT to confirm this and that was negative. I have been in many thermal pools that were rich in minerals...for example the thermal springs near Saturnia in Italy. I still enjoy going now that I have dealt with my disappointment and expectations not being met. People there are very nice, especially the physio therapists there.

Great place with super facilities for both kids and parents!
Davide M — Google review
Overall rather disappointed: - Small hydro massage space with a weird structure that makes you climb to reach the other parts - overall too crowded, not really relaxing - many kids, didn’t make me feel like in a spa - showers in the changing room were either cold or too hot - wooden coaches were very uncomfortable - old fashioned ribbons for prove of payment which you throw away in the end, very unsustainable - keys for the lockers, old fashioned. Easy to loose them - overall nothing special, just expect more from a spa - liked the sauna space!
Steffen S — Google review
The facilities were good but i felt like i was in Chernobyl - it all seemed so dated. We were not told before entering that you had to be completely starkers in the steam room. We were the only females there, the rest were all fat old men (why are they never like David Gandy??!) that grassed us in for not taking our clothes off. I’m not sure it’s hygienic to have to sit where old men have been resting their old droopy balls. I wish i’d read google reviews before going…
Charlotte R — Google review
Not quite the peaceful retreat that the adverts sometimes suggest, these days the spa is full of families and energy rather than tranquility. That said, it still is a lot of fun. Pools are clean and well maintained, and there area various water temperatures to suit all tastes. Lots of different experiences, from jets to jacuzzis, and the view as the sun sets over the mountain is tremendous. Could do with a few more lockers, but definitely worth the price, especially if you get the after 5pm special discount.

Raggaschlucht

Raggaschlucht is a stunning natural attraction featuring a mountainside waterfall cascading through a narrow rocky canyon. Visitors can explore the gorge via wooden walkways, offering breathtaking views of the rushing water, waterfalls, and polished walls. The walk is relatively short, around 800m long with an ascent of 200m, making it suitable for families and those seeking a less strenuous adventure. Educational signposts along the way provide valuable insights into the area's natural features.
A truly wonderful place. The views are just stunning, there are some information boards along the way with interesting scientific facts about the gorge. It takes about 90 minutes for the return journey. Do wear good boots, as there are some steep climbs (and descents). It's possible to buy the tickets online, but there is no advantage really as you still need to wait in line to have the QR code scanned at the ticket office.
Paweł C — Google review
What a wonderfull place! Takes 15 minutes from the parking lot to reach the entrance. A small souvenir shop with a LOVELY Anita, who takes care of the returning wonderers. The gorge is reasonably manageble for those, who like to hike. Safe trail, charming waterfalls and roaring rock-steps. I strongly recommend everybody, who has legs and healthy heart. ;)
Róbert K — Google review
Hiking trail - nature. A 3.4 km trail (I think a little less) The trail takes about two hours plus (depending on the number of visitors) Amazing wild nature A very comfortable trail on wooden bridges. There is parking until the start of the trail and then about a 15-minute walk up a fairly steep hill to the entrance counter. Fee for 2+2 about 30 euros. Then the trail begins with a lot of water and a low temperature (outside was 17 degrees, on the trail about 12 degrees). Good walking shoes are recommended, there are slippery places and also with mud. The trail passes over wooden bridges and a lot of stairs (climbing), amazing views and lots of places to stop for photos. At the end of the trail, you return to the starting points on a difficult descent of about 30 minutes.

Beautiful place, we went first thing in the morning waiting a bit for them to open so we were there alone but when we finish lots of people were already behind us. It is a popular place. Walk is wet from water so take a proper shoes and be careful.

What an incredible experience! My hike at Raggaschlucht was unforgettable. According to my activity tracker, I covered 2.60 miles with an elevation gain of 1,197 ft in 58 minutes and 54 seconds. Parking was free, but as you follow the signs up, you'll encounter a ticket office with restrooms and a souvenir shop housed in containers. The signage is excellent, so you can't miss it. Entry is €9 per person, and it's absolutely worth it to witness the spectacular gorge. The wooden boardwalks are impressively sturdy, yet it's truly astounding how they've been constructed along such towering rock faces. With the recent rain, the waterfalls were powerful and the water flow incredibly strong, making for an even more dramatic sight. Austria has many beautiful gorges, but each has its own unique character, and Raggaschlucht is certainly no exception – it was truly wondrous! The restrooms were clean and free to use, which is always a plus. Do note that the hiking trail is one-way only. The return downhill is quite steep, so if you have knee concerns, a pair of foldable hiking poles would be invaluable for the descent. This geological trail also offers fascinating insights into the region's history, from the swift incision of the gorge by water and ice to the ancient rock movements and the formation of the Alps millions of years ago. It's a fantastic blend of natural beauty and geological education. Highly recommend adding this to your Austrian itinerary!

Incredible place! We went before 10am and there were not a lot of people, when we were coming out it was a lot busier. Car park is on street level and there’s a steep walk to the entrance of the place, then of course quite some steps uphill at the gorge but totally doable with the right shoes and clothes (saw some people walking up from parking wearing long skirts and not sure how they managed it but shorts/trousers are more recommended). The wall back through the forest is beautiful as well with stunning views but also quite steep so be prepared as you can’t walk fast.
M. L — Google review
A beautiful hike through the Raggaschlucht in September! We were there early in the morning and had plenty of time to explore. Good/hike footwear is recommended, as it can be a bit slippery. It's not recommended for small children or dogs, as the noise can be quite loud! We experienced this with our dog; he was a bit nervous at some parts during the hike. But we made it, and it was definitely worth it!
Melissa K — Google review
Absolutely stunning! Well maintained and there’s interesting information about the Schlucht and its formation! The walk up was really do able, the last part is a steep way down so be careful. I would recommend wearing sturdy shoes or boots that have grip, it can get quite slippery. We arrived at 10:00 and there was barely anyone, however when we walked back to the car at 11:30 it was extremely busy. So make sure you’re on time if you want a unique and quiet experience :)

Cheerful stuff, magnificent views and most of all a wide variety of insect species and much more. Butterflies are literally everywhere. There are even a few reptilians, fish and parrots. The whole place is filled with educative posters which aren't boring to read at all. And the best thing - it's completely wheelchair accessible!

We spent a few hours here and also are in the cafe next door. Highly recommended, would also suggest walking around the village to see the wonderful murals.

Always fun to visit places like these! Entrance fee is €12, and the parking is free but limited amount of spaces. When you first enter you will walk through a small "museum" with information about butterflies. Then there will be 3 different environments with butterflies 🦋 There are also other cool insects here, and beautiful plants. Functional rooms in a trendy budget hotel with a bar & a sauna, plus free breakfast.
Tomorrow is my last day of a week here as a solo female skiier. Had the best holiday. The staff have all been wonderful. Professional, and genuinely caring and interested in my day. My room was great, excellent cleaning each day. Loved the outdoor pool and spa. Food was amazing (and the wine) Made some great friends. Would highly recommend.
Alison W — Google review
The hotel has an excellent location right next to the Millennium Express cable car, perfect for hiking and mountain activities. Breakfast and dinner were tasty and offered a good variety of fresh dishes. However, the hotel feels more like a hostel than a 4-star property — cheap partitions, creaky doors, and an inconvenient bathroom layout with the toilet separate from the sink. Staff were mixed: some were very kind and helpful, while others were uninterested or even pushy, insisting on drinks when we declined. The surroundings are disappointing — the access road and parking are unpaved, with no benches outside. Tropolach offers almost no evening entertainment beyond the hotel bar. The worst part was the chaos in the pool and lobby areas. Although we didn’t book an adults-only hotel, children were screaming and playing noisily, especially in the pool, without any supervision to maintain order. Such disorder is unacceptable for a hotel with a not-so-cheap price tag. Overall, great location and food, but the hotel needs better maintenance and management to meet 4-star standards.

Having been twice here during this year I can surely say that staying at this hotel was a wonderful experience. It is family friendly, super clean and the food is delicious. There are different hotel related activities you can do so we had a lot of fun. Compliments to Dario at the front desk for being informative and catering to our every need. Also to housekeeping for keeping everything neat and clean. A satisfied guest who will definitely come back again.

We spent a week here in August as a family of 4. We loved our stay. The hotel has all the comforts, it's clean and the food is very good. We enjoyed the pool, the activities and our kids loved the amazing Karolina and Mathias at the baby club. The position is incredible, right in front of the Millenium Express and close to lakes and bike trails. The rooms are a little small. We stayed in a suite and felt a little cramped. I think a hotel in this category must provide a fridge, particularly in the summer months and in my opinion having the guests pay for purified water at dinner is a bit of a faux pas considering the price. The breakfast and dinner buffets are delicious. The food was fresh and well prepared, in particular the "antipasti" from Giusy. The service provided was very good. We appreciated our server Gabriel. The hotel provided a cake for our daughter's birthday with just a day of notice and it was delicious and it made her happy.

Room was a bit small, a 1,60m bed with aapproximately meter by meter shower, cabinet, small desk with free of charge tea/coffee bags and still and sparkling water. .... small but super great because there is a pre-room to put your shoes, laguage, jackets, skies and there is a ski boot dryer. There is almost a million variations of food for breakfast, and the dinners were great too. Location is top when skiing, because there is gondola like 200m away from the hotel.
Maša R — Google review
Just back from a week in the Arena Franz Ferdinand, what a fantastic hotel! I paid for the slightly larger room which was very comfortable. I loved the storage area at the front of the room. I used it to keep my rucksack, boots and climbing gear away from the main living area. The boot dryer was VERY welcome after a day of torrential rain. The room is a slightly strange set up. From the corridor, you can see through in to the storage area which is also where the toilet is situated. Bare that in mind when you need to go! Also the shower cubicle opens straight out in the bedroom/living area. Fine if you're on your own but if you're travelling with another person, make sure you know them well enough :-) The rooms are very cosy and comfortable, towels were big and fluffy as was the robe. Great to have a kettle in the room and a very good selection of tea, coffee, decaf and herbal tea which, along with a jug of water, was replenished daily. It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room too. I stayed half board. Breakfast was amongst the best I've seen in a hotel. Wide range of coffee (complete with syrups, various cups/mugs, hot and cold milk) cheese & hams, cereal, bead, sausage, omelettes made to order. The juicing machine was an interesting addition too. I had a very early checkout but I had a breakfast of sandwiches and fruits ready for me at reception. Evening meals were listed in the morning news (available at breakfast) They offered a good choice and were always tasty and filling. The plates there are huge! It's a buffet, just help yourself to as much as you like. The waiters take your drink order. There's a good choice and prices are fair. You can then either pay on the night by cash or card or charge everything to your room. Staff are lovely. Attentive, quick and friendly. Some can't speak English too well and I've only a basic level of German, but that was never an issue. And the climbing wall! Wow!! Loved it!! Wish all hotels had one :-) Finally, the +Card is so useful. I used it several times for free access to the cable car and chairlifts. You are given it at check in and it gives free access to transport and various attractions. It makes for a very cheap holiday. So, in summary, a great hotel in a beautiful location!

Nice museum but very small, only two floors with maybe around 20 cars. But it is a private museum with some special pieces. Must see place for Porsche fans. If you are looking for a peaceful quiet place, it is worth staying in one of the three small hotels on the top of mountain. During winter a gondola lift is closed at 16:00. From this time only a small group of hotel guests and service stay on the top. Silence, peace, amazing views. Priceles

The heaven on earth. There are cafes above the mountain where we can eat while enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains. The cable car service makes it easier to reach the top of the mountain. One of the best place for skiing.

Absolutely stunning and beautifull. I went there in the summer and now in the winter and I cant decide what is more beautifull. Its perfect for skiing, walking , enjoying beautifull view and good food. I recommend to everyone to go there in summer and in winter. There is cable car in Camporosso that will take you up. Sill under the impression of that beautiful place.

Laghi di Fusine, a stunning pair of alpine lakes, is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. Nestled in the quiet wonder of the Dolomites, these neighboring lakes offer picturesque views and serene surroundings. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a leisurely stroll, Laghi di Fusine provides an ideal setting to immerse yourself in Friuli's natural beauty.
Amazing lake to visit for a day or two. It can get quite busy during the holidays but with some patience you can still get it.
Federico S — Google review
Two very beautiful lakes with a lot of hiking opportunities. The trails going around the lakes to required sure footedness and good shoes, there are a lot of tree trunks and rocks/lose stones. Dog friendly and several options for food and drinks. You pay €5 for a full day to park.
Amber D — Google review
I visited the Laghi di Fusine recently and it was one of the most peaceful and scenic places I’ve seen. The water is unbelievably clear and emerald-turquoise — you can easily see stones and plant life beneath the surface — and the whole scene is framed by the dramatic, snow-topped Julian Alps (you get sweeping views of Mangart in the background). The loop trail around the upper lake is an easy, well-marked walk (about 2 km for the circular route) with benches and viewpoints where you can stop and soak it in. In autumn the trees are changing colour, the ducks glide calmly across the water, and the setting feels quietly majestic — a perfect spot to slow down and recharge.

Such an amazing place!!!!! I was realy looking forward to visiting this place and it was worth all the long way. You have to pay to park there, but it is an amazing place to visit. HIGHLY recommended. You feel like in a windows desktop wallpaper.

The landscape is very beautiful and you get two lakes in one visit😍 I can defenetly recomand it!
Silviu G — Google review
We planned spontaneously to visit the lake and walk around. It's always beautiful in sunny days. Nice clean water surrounded by trees. From villach it took around 38min drive. There are three parking spots. One is just before the entrance and 2 after the entrace.we paid 5eurro to entrance for our car. We parked in just 50min from entrace. And enjoy nice walk. Even if you have one hour you would manage one round along the lake. If you have more time can visit both lake.

Amazing clear blue lake in the Julian Apls with great views of the mountains and greenery all around. Brilliant view of the Italian side of Mangart. There is an entry charge to visit the lake, it's not much but we didn't know about it. Parking was easy by the side of the road next to the lake. There toilets and cafés around the lake. The views are amazing. You cannot swim in the lake!! We didn't know and there are no signs saying no swimming. We had 2 police officer type people telling us and a few others to get out of the lake, luckily they were really polite and understanding so they informed us about the no swimming rule and said it's ok this time as it was the first time. We just saw 2 other people in the lake swimming so thought it was ok. You can rest a row boat and row on the lake which is a good option. The rowing boats were pretty but made of metal which didn't feel right so we didn't do that. Good for a stop over if you are in Bovec.
Gaurav G — Google review
It is a very very very beautiful and peaceful place!!! I took a train from Trieste to Tarvisio Boscoverde and walked along the bike paths to the lake!!! Almost like 10km!! Next time I’ll try with the bike! And I thought it’s forbidden to swim in the lake, but yes you can!!! I came for the NO BORDER MUSIC FESTIVAL! If you love nature, hiking, biking, and music, 100% recommended to come!! You won’t regret! But maybe bring some water with you, because the water from the fountain is not drinkable.

Therme St. Kathrein is a thermal paradise offering something for everyone throughout the year. The outdoor area provides a stunning experience, especially in winter with fog and snowy mountains. The FKK (nudist sauna) is fantastic, featuring ample space and various saunas. While it can get crowded, the different pools cater to families and individuals seeking relaxation or fun activities like the tube slide. Additionally, visitors can enjoy live music at the weekly market held in front of Therme St.
Therme St. Kathrein is a very good place for relaxing and spending time with your family. There is a great restaurant, a like 30 metres long slide, 4pools, 1 baby pool, 1 indoor pool, 1 outside swimming pool and 1 outside thermal pool. There are relax rooms where there are comfortable beds. There is a bacony where you can enjoy the fresh air and the sun on the sun beds.

Bathrobes and towels are not included in the price. You get no information from receptionist what so ever. Very bad comunication and service in the front desk. Outside pool is greate, indoor pool is crowded. There is no more then one indoor pool. Sauna and wellness area are the only reason I give 3 stars. That part was truly amazing.

Therme St. Kathrein is a fantastic wellness spot for families and relaxation seekers alike. Our guests at Chalet Waldzauber enjoy the variety of pools, the long water slide, and the peaceful sauna area. A perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes or hiking trails. Clean, modern, and enjoyable for all ages.

We loved the warm water in the inside pools. But we also loved the cold water in the outside 25m swimming pools. I call this “the big time kneip”. It was pretty crowded but due to many pools and the fact that there are few deep pools it was still ok. Nice. We had a good time.
Matjaž J — Google review
After 15 days walking the Alpe Adria trail my body is very happy with a relaxing day at St.Kathrein therme. The lady at the desk did not give much information about all the possibilities. After walking around abit and discovering for myself, I can say the sauna part is absolutely fine.

A bit tired and expensive and when I asked for guidance they should have said where the kids pool was and they should have said the sauna is not included and costs more to use

This bath end pools center are fantastic but usually very crowded. It's full of family and happy kids and if you search a quite place is better go on the spa. There is an external hot pool and a tube to have fun. The spa ia nice with a very good relaxing area. The price is good more cheap than Romerbad. It's really strange to pay 3 euros for the towel usually in other spa is included on the price

Additionally, there are facilities for sauna sessions and changing rooms available.
A great place to retreat oneself from daily mundane. Nice location where is right next to sky resort in which surrounded by nature scenery. Absolutely delightful and relaxing! Some points that I personal particularly appreciated : 1· Building has been applied basically natural build elements to integrate with outside environment. 2. Curve positioning the Facade and interior spaces that soften the atmosphere and creates a sense of acceptance and relaxation. 3. Minimalism, good interior spatial adjacency arrangement, indicators and signs are well done, really clean and bright. 4. Cocoon-shape of sauna rooms and Bowl- shape of indoor pools and massive big chairs are adding visual appeal to the space. 5· 13 types of sauna are the highlights, and every single one provides different kind of herbal aroma. Must try! 👍🏻 6. Outdoor Jacuzzi on the top floor is one of the best pools, a view directly to the hillsides where Ski cable cars located and the station on the top of mountain. Really cool !😍 We spent a day over here on September in the low season, that’s why we could enjoy the facilities without having trouble of over crowded. A day ticket €57 per person. Be aware of the restaurant is closed during the low season, but the Snack Bar is always available. Otherwise bring your own food, my suggestion.
Angela M — Google review
Worst experience ever. Despite paying for two separate entrances (one with sauna and one without) for me and my girlfriend, I was charged an additional €24 because I accidentally used the wrong key to enter the sauna area. I thought the key I was using was correct, given it allowed access to the area. However, only at the end of the day was I informed that all keys grant access to the sauna, whereas I expected the key without sauna access wouldn’t work. As a result, I used the wrong key and ended up with an extra charge, while the correct key I had paid for was never used.
Riccardo V — Google review
If you buy the simple ticket, it's extremely overpriced for the value you get - only a few pools to pick from, with relatively coldish water. 70% of the facility can be only used with an extra ticket. If you want a few relaxing hours after skiing / tour, would recommend skipping this place. Our best experience was the hot shower in the end, which says quite a lot.
Gyöngyösi S — Google review
The option without sauna is not worth it in my opinion. There are just two pools with relatively warm water, no whirlpools, and unfortunately a lot of Kids and noise! So I would definitely not recommend this if you want to enjoy some chill time. (Hopefully the entry which includes the sauna part is better!)
Martin G — Google review
Worst ‘thermal’ that I have been to. Compared to Hungarian real thermal baths, the warmest bath area was ~30-35 Celsius. And the grade was not even noted. The showers warm, that was great. I heard that saunas were great, for 40 euros.
Artúr V — Google review
Went for a massage without any particular preexisting problems, I got a medical - cold atmosphere and wryneck (torticollis)…
Zakaria A — Google review
The place is very nice! Sauna is great and also the thermal baths are very beutiful. The only problem we had was with a guy working for the saunas (he had a full goatee like moustache and a little beard). Horrible mood, horrible way of speaking with customers. He should be fired because he ruined our experience. He also made some racist comments against italian people for no reasons at all. Anyway, the place is really beutiful and we recommend it.
Antonio B — Google review
Me and my partner were choosing a spa to spend the day near Nassfeld, and I can highly recommend Romerbad for a day visit to the saunas. Note: review only for the adult spa zone! Super clean and very little people on the weekday. All saunas are very well equipped, water fountains, spa rituals every 30 min. The staff even organized a second hammam ritual, cause some people didn’t get in the first round. Definitely visit the Salt&Hammam ritual!

Nestled along the Pisnica River, Lake Jasna is a picturesque destination with its white-sand shores and stunning mountain views. While smaller than other nearby lakes, it offers a tranquil atmosphere perfect for leisurely walks and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy the emerald green waters and find plenty of photo opportunities around the lake. Although there are no public restrooms available, the well-kept surroundings and library on the beach add to its charm.
A must visit in Slovenia.... Skip Bled but you can't afford missing out this one :) Crystal-clear, emerald‑green water and picturesque mountain backdrops, making it a top photo spot . Refreshing swimming: water stays around 15–17 °C even in summer, enjoyable for many visitors. For us it was challenging but others were enjoying. Great amenities: well-kept surroundings, lakeside cafés/restaurants, food kiosks, toilets, paddle‑board and kayak rentals, and even a public beach library . Unique features: sculptures like the Ibex statue, wooden piers, a small diving tower, and easy walking trails around the lakes The lake is small so it gets crowded easily, try to reach here early. There is ample parking for around 1.5 euro per hour. The place is easily accessible but could be challenging with strollers or wheelchairs.

Landskron Castle, a historic hilltop fortress in Villach, Austria, has been home to various noble families from the 14th to the 17th century. Although destroyed by fire in 1812, it remains a top attraction with its medieval walls drawing many visitors for its scenic ascent and breathtaking views.
Great location close to Villach with lots of attractions. You may book a session with eagles on your wedding day. This is a real castle, a fantastic background for photos. Stunning views on each side. Every couple gets to cut their cake with a medieval sword. There is a beautiful Chapel located within the castle, great for a romantic ceremony. As a photographer I can recommend this location as one of favourites.

You can't understand the lady who is speaking in English, actually translating the other one. But she's adorable :) the show itself is well handled and you can see they treat those animals with kindness. The negative thing is coffee (really bad) in the restaurant near the entrance, expensive souvenirs (7€ for a magnet) and the parking is way down the road so you have to walk UP HILL for 10min to reach the castle. Overall, great to see in person those magnificent birds of pray. We were amazed.
Kristina S — Google review
Breathtaking atmosphere and view.. problem with my visit was that we were a big group with optimized price and therefore the restaurant experience seems to suffer .. the plates were quite plain with good but not exceptional taste and the people were quite harsh - some of the statements even unfriendly.. I guess if it would have been a dinner for two with less monetary restrictions the whole experience would have been mega..
Evi N — Google review
Found this gem while driving from Austria to Italy. We almost got lost after getting off the highway, but once we got our bearings, it was a breeze. Once there, if available, you can park right up to the castle. Otherwise, just walk up the steep hill (15 minutes). The grounds are good enough, but the birds of pray displays and demonstration were a definitely 10/10!. Food around the place was ok, but the people working everywhere were so nice. A must-stop to see!!!
Luis C — Google review
Eagle show it was brilliant....german and english must do. Ideal for families. Food very good.
Maxwell W — Google review
Nice one day family trip. The bird show is something special, but it is good to know german, because there is not enough english speak. Beware of summer heat, you can get fried up in the arena. It is ynder open sky. No roof or shadow at all. If you are regarding that it's a interesting place with astonishing view.
Aljosa T — Google review
Parking is 2,5 Euros per day and you can see beautiful old castle and lovely Affenberge. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Andrea P — Google review
The food was delicious at the restaurant and the views were incredible.More than worth it to venture out and go see. The drive just to get to the castle is worth just taking the trip. There ia parking at the very top of the mountain so your only option isn't just at the very bottom. Its worth checking out. If you do decide to park at the bottom. Its quite the journey making it up that steep graded road about 1/2 Km to the top.

Affenberg Landskron is a popular family-friendly monkey park in Villach, Austria. Visitors can enjoy barrier-free guided tours through macaque enclosures and book interactive activities. The park offers an engaging experience for families, with tours lasting about 30 minutes to see the monkeys in their habitat. While visitors cannot touch the monkeys, they can walk among them and enjoy the playground, food, and drinks available on-site. Paid parking is available at the hill entrance.
Monkey Park - Tour in English/German. Cost for a family of 2+2 is about 57 euros. The tour is about 40 minutes, charming and very interesting. A nice guide accompanies the group at 4 stopping points and explains and asks questions about the monkeys. All the monkeys are Japanese macaques. A very interesting and beautiful tour. 108 monkeys live there in a huge and tidy park. Visits are from April to November only.
Sharon F — Google review
Very beautiful location for this beautiful creatures. They have around 150 monkeys which wander freely around the place looking happy in their habitat. The tour lasts around 40 minutes and you can get inside only with a guide. The ticket costs 17 euros per person and 13 for disabled. It was really worth it. We even got a paper written in our language about the monkeys and yhe whole place and the guide was translating everything in english. The place is owned by a private owner and they take great care of the monkeys.
Silvia B — Google review
There is a steep drive up to the parking area and a short walk to the entrance. The area is very well maintained, the monkeys are happy and healthy and are encouraged to live as they would in the wild. We arrived around 11, and only had to wait around 30 minutes for the next tour. There is plenty of room in the shade, and an opportunity to get some food and drink. There are tours in German and English, the guide translates all the information. There were quite a few children and the gravel path was noisy at times, but we could still hear the information well!
Laura F — Google review
Cute little monkey park up in the hills, we had to wait a bit to enter as you couldn't buy tickets in advance but at least there was a nice playground for the kids to enjoy and a cafe/shop for food and drinks while you wait. The downside is that the tour claims to be bilingual but our guide spoke mostly in German and translated maybe 20 percent of the information to English, mostly just saying "ok let's go to our next stop" even when we talked to him about it he continued with saying the most interesting things only in german. To get up the hill and park your car you also have to pay an additional 5.50€ which felt a bit cheeky. The monkeys themselves are cool and it's a nice and fresh stroll through the forest.
Tommy O — Google review
Highly priced tour (adult 17 Euros). Japanese monkeys in controlled environment. They are fed by the park and are not wild in any way. I want my money back. Not worth at all.

Observation Decks & Towers
The Pyramidenkogel Tower is a popular attraction in Klagenfurt that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and Lake Worthersee. It features an observation deck, as well as a covered slide that provides visitors with a thrilling experience. The road leading up to the tower can be challenging for inexperienced drivers due to its steep and twisting nature. The parking lot is free and spacious, while the building's entrance is well-maintained.
Really interesting free standing structure in the middle of the forest overlooking the lake with great views. Made entirely of wood from the region, it takes on this grey color which makes it pretty interesting. There is a slide that you can take from the top to the bottom. You can get to the top via elevator or by stairs. I do recommend taking the elevator as you can spend more time at the top to soak in the views and then slowly walk down. This is definitely not for those who are afraid of heights as it is completely open (but still safe - sufficient barriers).
Samuel — Google review
Great panoramic view over Lake Wörthersee and the surroundings – definitely worth visiting once. Parking is easy, the tower is modern and clean. Perfect for photos and a short trip, but honestly, it’s a “see it once” kind of place – no real reason to come back again.
Juraj S — Google review
The Pyramidenkogel Tower near Klagenfurt is absolutely worth a visit. We were lucky to have a beautiful clear day, even though it’s already October, and the views were simply breathtaking. From the top, you can see for miles in every direction, the two surrounding lakes glistening below are magical, and the little peninsula of Maria Wörth looks picture-perfect from above. To the west, the Alps rise majestically in the distance, completing the stunning panorama. A truly beautiful spot and an experience not to be missed! Make sure you come back down using the slide! A definite crowd pleaser

Pyramid Tower - an attraction for taking amazing photos - meeting point of the borders of Italy, Austria, Slovenia. The entrance fee is not cheap for a family of 2 + 2 (13 and 17) including sliding down the slide, a total of 53 euros. There is a large and tidy parking lot (2 lots). After payment, there are 2 options for going up. Elevator or stairs - about 12 steps up, not easy but challenging. The 10th floor is closed and pleasant (on a rainy day) you can go up to the 11th and 12th floors, open to the whole view and a place to take photos of the entire area.
Sharon F — Google review
Great panoramic view on the whole lake , impressive structure. Best to take the elevator up, and the stairs to get down, so you can really enjoy the scenic view. Parking was a bit tricky on the hilltop, as it was a busy day, but eventually found a spot.

Fabulous views of the surrounding area An impressive structure made of wood and metal, which offers fabulous views of the surrounding area - a lake, mountains. The height of a 12-story building. A separate attraction is a descent along a metal pipe from a height of 52 meters - the highest in Europe. The pipe runs inside the tower. I highly recommend it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing place for relaxation and nature lovers! We spent a few peaceful days at Wörthersee and absolutely loved it. The water is crystal clear with beautiful turquoise tones, and the surroundings are breathtaking – calm, clean, and surrounded by mountains. There are plenty of quiet spots to relax, swim, or take a walk along the shore. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking to unwind in nature. Here are 2 of the best trails around: 1. Wörthersee Rundwanderweg • Distance: 55 kilometers • Difficulty: Moderate • Duration: 12-14 hours (can be split over multiple days) This is the most famous trail around Wörthersee, circling the entire lake. The trail offers breathtaking views of the lake from various vantage points and passes through charming villages such as Velden, Pörtschach, and Maria Wörth. You can explore forests, hills, and lakeside paths. The trail is well-marked and can be done in stages, making it accessible for all levels. 2. Pyramidenkogel Trail • Distance: 10 km • Difficulty: Moderate • Duration: 3-4 hours This trail leads to the Pyramidenkogel, a 100-meter-high wooden observation tower that offers 360-degree views of Wörthersee and the surrounding region. The hike starts in Reifnitz and takes you through scenic forests before reaching the summit. The ascent is a bit challenging, but the panoramic views from the top make it worth the effort. You can also take an elevator down after exploring the tower.

A turquoise blue lake, mountain views and lush green nature. Wörthersee is a place which makes you to feel relaxed from the beginning. I think the only problem is that all the lakesides are surrounded by private beaches and hotels. However, there are lakeside locations that you can access for free. Especially Velden is an ideal town for having a walk and having a nice meal.

In winter everything stands still except 2-3 restaurants. We visited this place around 10AM on a Sunday and there were still enough available spaces for parking. They have a lot of miniature attractions around the world but there isn't a single one from their neighboring country, Slovakia, such a pity. Anyway, the facilities are good. There are toilets, restaurants, and benches where you can get some rest. The ticket is not cheap but worth it. A family could stay the whole day because there is no time limit and there are a lot of things to see.

I must say I was quite impressed by this place. It's not very big, but it's really beautiful. The tickets are affordable and, if you're in Klagenfurt, I think it's worth seeing. There's also a coffee shop inside if you want to have a drink or something to eat. I highly recommend it!

We had a really nice trip. We went around the world in three hours and had a fantastic time. We all enjoyed it, my husband and I, but also our children. The weather was warm and sunny so we were really lucky to walk around the park, enjoy and take pictures. This is my big recommendation for all parents because it is guaranteed to be a good, beautiful and useful time. The park is excellently and creatively done, there is an inner and outer part of Minimundus as well as a big wheel. There is also a gift shop with souvenirs and a restaurant where we had lunch.

Nice experience. Big free parking in front. Adult ticket was 21€. The park is not too big, not too small. You need 2 to 3 hours to see everything. The mini replicas are very detailed. The plants, flowers and grass are all curated in a way to fit into context of the minimundus. Many of the replicas are animated... mini trains travel around, crains loading containers on cargo ship, wind mills, water mills, space shuttle... everything moves. Really nice. There is also a bar and restaurant inside if you get thirsty or hungry and a panoramic wheel if you are not affraid of hights. Recommended.

Minimundus: A World Tour in Two Hours! If you're ever in Klagenfurt, Austria, you absolutely must visit Minimundus. It was definitely worth the day spent there, especially with kids! It's an incredibly educational and engaging place where you can literally travel the world in about two hours, viewing hundreds of perfect miniature models of famous buildings and landmarks. Beautiful place for families and as adults we enjoyed it very much, too. Only missing part is Something from Slovakia. For example Blue Church would be beautiful miniature.

What a novelty! Really fascinating especially because they use original materials as much as possible. The detail is incredible and I appreciate the informative signage and moving parts - for example an elevator in the Eiffel Tower and a space shuttle “launch”. Walked around for about an hour with a friend and enjoyed the sunshine. Almost no one else there on a weekday.

Perched on a rocky outcrop in the heart of a picturesque plain, Hochosterwitz Castle is a medieval marvel with a history dating back over 1,000 years. This imposing fortress boasts 14 defensive gates and offers panoramic views of Slovenia and East Austria from its elevated position. The castle's walls and crenellations wind their way up the mount, leading to the formidable fortress at its summit.
It’s an absolute gem! Perched dramatically on a hilltop, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The climb up through its 14 fortified gates is a unique experience, and the well-preserved architecture makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Inside, the small museum and charming courtyards add to the castle’s historic charm. It’s a must-visit for anyone who loves history, stunning landscapes, and fairytale-like castles!

A powerful castle from the outside, the view is wonderful from the top. But the fee is very high for basically nothing, one room and a restaurant, even the most basic shops, we were surprised and not in a good way, we have already been to castles with a lot of investment that had something to see...

Hochosterwitz Castle stands as a magnificent testament to medieval architecture, perched atop a 150-meter-high dolomite rock in Launsdorf, Austria. Its commanding location not only offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Carinthian landscape but also highlights its historical significance as a strategic fortress designed to withstand sieges and invasions over centuries. Visitors often describe the journey to the castle as an integral part of the experience, with the walk up offering spectacular scenery and a sense of anticipation, although the castle can also be accessed via a funicular for those who prefer an easier ascent. The castle's defining feature is its series of 14 fortified gates, each representing a different aspect of medieval defensive architecture. These gates, which served as formidable obstacles for invaders, are a major highlight, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the castle’s rich military history. Walking through these gates not only provides insight into medieval siege tactics but also amplifies the sense of stepping back into a time of knights and battlements. The structure’s well-preserved architecture, including towers, battlements, and defensive walls, underscores its importance as a resilient stronghold during the Ottoman invasions and other historical conflicts. Inside, the castle boasts a collection of medieval weaponry and armor, as well as a museum that showcases its layered history. The interior spaces, including a castle chapel, armory, and various courtyards, reflect a blend of functional military design and past aristocratic lifestyles. The armory, in particular, is a fascinating display of medieval warfare, while the castle’s panoramic vantage points provide stunning views of the lush Carinthian landscape, emphasizing its military and scenic importance. Visitors often remark on the unique experience offered by exploring these historic interiors, which are complemented by occasional displays of contemporary art integrated into the historic setting. The history of Hochosterwitz dates back to its first mention in 860 AD. The castle was fortified extensively in the 16th century, notably under the patronage of the Khevenhüller family, transforming it into one of the most formidable military bastions of its time. Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience and a vital part of Carinthian cultural heritage, attracting thousands of visitors annually who come to admire its historical architecture, sweeping views, and intriguing stories. The experience of visiting Hochosterwitz is enhanced by its accessibility and the variety of activities on offer ranging from exploring the castle grounds and towers to engaging with its cultural exhibitions. The site’s scenic location, historical depth, and well-preserved structures make it one of Austria’s most impressive medieval castles, celebrated for its architectural grandeur and panoramic vistas that extend over the rugged landscape of Carinthia. Whether as a day trip from nearby towns or as a historical pilgrimage, Hochosterwitz remains an iconic and awe-inspiring monument to Austria’s medieval past and enduring strength.

The castle is set in a beautiful natural surrounding and is impressive through the number of gates you have to go through to enter it (or conquer it in the Middle Ages). The tickets are quite expensive (we paid 77 euro for a family of 3 with one-way lift access included). If you purchase 2-way lift access, they are going to be more expensive. You can also climb and descend on foot, in which case the tickets will be a little cheaper. There were 2 exhibitions in the main castle: a permanent one, which looked a bit dusty and old-school, telling the history of the castle and the family owning it. The temporary exhibition was dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci, and costed extra. There are also a restaurant serving local specialties, toilets and a gift shop. Most defense towers and gates are either permanently closed or under renovation, so they cannot be visited. You can have some amazing views of the surrounding areas from the top level.

Entry is a bit pricier, but the castle is totally worth it. The walk to the top is easy, no need to take the lift (except for visitors with health impairment). Adequate parking right by the gate. Restaurant at the top was a pleasant surprise, decent food and prices not through the roof. The place was not super crowded and you can comfortably buy tickets at the spot.

A special place where the ancient history still lives on. Could get 5 stars when the museum becomes updated. The views are stunning. The food is also good and affordable considering the location. Can however be difficult to find a parking.

The medieval castle is one of the most beautiful in Austria. You can take the elevator, or you can hike up, which takes about 30 minutes.

Beautiful castle, free parking nearby but you need a ticket to even start walking to it. It is worth it though
