Aphrodisias Ancient City Museum

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Aphrodisias Ancient City Museum, established in 1979, showcases recovered artifacts from the historic Greek city of Aphrodisias. Located in a remote Anatolian region, this site encompasses vast expanses and beautiful natural surroundings such as Roman poplars, green fields and chirping birds. It was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2017 for its grandeur and scale.
While somewhat of a detour from other sites, this place is absolutely worth a visit. The site itself is phenomenal, with a largely intact greek amphitheater with a capacity of 30,000 people, an extensively restored public pool and Roman theater. You will see a lot without the crowds of Efesus or Pumukalle.

Another must-see archeological site. İt is about a 3hrs drive from Izmir. What impressed me the most was the 170mt pool, it is unrestored now but I hope it will be one day. One remark: the museum building is closed to visitors.
Ahmet B — Google review
One of the most fascinating places I have ever been to. Absolutely stunning peace's with very well preserved parts. I loved the masks wall and also the pool at the main square. Don't miss the Theatre. Less expensive (€12) and much less crowded than Ephesus
Rose V — Google review
Enchanting archeological site. Some buildings are in incredible good state and the visit is very enjoyable as there aren’t crowds of tourists.
Mattia T — Google review
The archeological site is fantastic, interesting and beautiful. You can easily spend there 2 hours. Take some water and a hat, as it can be very hot on the sun. However, the Museum is currently closed...and this was very dissapointing.
László H — Google review
It is one of the best places I have ever been. 100% worth it. We were alone
Imanol C — Google review
Absolutely beautiful, well-preserved and off the beaten path. Low crowds mean you can walk on and around the ruins. Come early and explore in near silence and solitude.
Erik S — Google review
We had limited time and we were not sure if we should include this in our itinerary, but we did and we were delighted. Way less crowded than Ephesus, and from my point of view experientially deeper and easier to immerse into the history of the place without the tour busses. Though smaller than Ephesus, the 170 m long swimming pool must have been a treat, and Aphrodisias had plenty of water the gardens were reportedly magnificent. Definitely a City I may have wanted to live in back in the day…

Cakiraga Mansion is a historical gem located in the charming village of Birgi, Turkey. This well-preserved Ottoman mansion has been converted into a museum, showcasing its rich history and traditional lifestyle. The wooden building features stunning hand-painted decorations adorning the walls and ceilings, offering visitors a visual treat. Nestled in a green courtyard, the mansion boasts beautiful miniatures and frescoes, reflecting the opulence of its time.
A real gem in Birgi. The best part lace to be in the cosy old town of Birgi. It is good that it’s been converted to museum. Considering that it’s a wooden building well preserved. Hand painted decorations all over the walls and ceilings are absolutely beautiful.
Tolga D — Google review
What a great place to see the history! An amazing mansion specificly designed to wake up while looking at the Bozdaglar. Each room designed differently. Recommend to visit this place.

It is a very nice old mansion for 200+ years, now it is a museum. The rooms where all the walls are beautifully adorned with ornaments are spectacular. However, there are no furnished room .
Ismail A — Google review
Birgi is an enchanting village in Turkiye that feels untouched by time. Known for its beautifully preserved Ottoman architecture, rich historical significance, and peaceful “slow town” vibe, Birgi offers an immersive experience into Turkish heritage and rural life. Designated as a Cittaslow, or "slow town," Birgi takes pride in preserving its traditional lifestyle and natural environment, creating a refreshing escape for travelers seeking history, culture, and tranquility. Birgi’s roots trace back to ancient times, when it was home to Phrygian, Lydian, and Roman civilizations before flourishing under the Aydinids and later the Ottomans. As a result, Birgi is a living tapestry of history, blending diverse cultures and architectural styles in a way that feels both rich and harmonious. This legacy makes Birgi a unique and invaluable part of Turkey’s cultural landscape, as well as a destination of international importance for those interested in historical preservation. One of Birgi's most striking features is its well-preserved Ottoman architecture. Walking through the village's cobblestone streets, you’ll find elegant wooden houses with intricate woodwork and traditional stone facades, many of which date back centuries. The Çakırağa Mansion, one of Birgi’s most iconic buildings, is a masterpiece of Ottoman craftsmanship. Built in the 18th century, this grand mansion features beautifully painted interiors and detailed wood carvings that reflect the sophistication and artistic talent of its time. It’s a rare example of the Ottoman elite’s lifestyle and remains one of Turkey’s most treasured heritage sites. The Great Mosque of Birgi, or Ulu Camii, is another must-visit landmark. Built in the early 14th century by Mehmet Bey, the mosque is one of the oldest in Anatolia and a stunning example of Seljuk architecture. Its wooden minbar, decorated with delicate carvings, and the unique stone design reflect the aesthetic sensibilities of the Aydinid period. This mosque is a peaceful place to reflect on the region’s spiritual history and admire the craftsmanship that has withstood the centuries. Birgi’s commitment to preserving its heritage extends beyond its architecture to its way of life. As a Cittaslow, Birgi prioritizes sustainable living and traditional culture, inviting visitors to slow down and savor the small moments. The village’s narrow streets are lined with family-run shops, artisan markets, and cozy cafes where you can enjoy locally sourced food and handmade crafts. The pace of life here is slow, allowing you to truly appreciate the surroundings and connect with the local people, who are warm, welcoming, and proud of their heritage. The local cuisine is another highlight of a visit to Birgi. Many of the dishes here are prepared with ingredients grown in the surrounding farmlands and flavored with herbs from the Bozdağ Mountains. You can savor traditional Aegean dishes, from fresh olive oils to savory gözleme (stuffed flatbreads) and handcrafted jams. Dining in Birgi is not just a meal; it’s a cultural experience that showcases the village’s agricultural roots and commitment to sustainable practices. Birgi’s natural beauty adds to its charm, with lush landscapes, olive groves, and fresh mountain air. The village is surrounded by trails that lead into the Bozdağ Mountains, offering opportunities for hiking and exploring the pristine environment. Each season brings its own beauty to Birgi, from the vibrant blooms of spring to the golden hues of autumn. The landscape itself feels like part of the village’s identity, a source of pride and livelihood for the people who call it home. For anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply finding a peaceful retreat, Birgi is a remarkable destination. Its status as a slow town and dedication to preserving its heritage make it a model for sustainable tourism. By visiting Birgi, you’re not just exploring a village—you’re experiencing a way of life rooted in respect for tradition, nature, and community.

A great gem in the middle of an antique Ottoman outpost village. A relatively well-maintained house with beautiful miniatures and frescoes on its walls, nestled in a green courtyard. A fantastically visual and cuktural treat.

Free and incredible place. Don’t eat in the restaurant, 10€ And the hamburger was bad and the potatoes too

Google drive took us here via road under construction. Luckily still managed to enter the area. Feedback given to Google. The glass viewing platform cost 10TL per person but you can actually walk down around the restaurant to get a very good view as well. The carpet shop gave us some good bargain.

Sardis Ancient City

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Sardis Ancient City, located east of Izmir, is an astonishing archaeological site that was one of the most important cities in antiquity. The city boasts impressive ruins including a Roman gymnasium, synagogue, Byzantine churches, and the temple of Artemis. The site is still being excavated and has undergone significant refurbishment to preserve its historical significance. Visitors can explore the well-maintained synagogue with beautiful mosaics and a glass floor over one of them.
This was the fourth of the seven congratulations in the book of revelation that we saw yesterday and it was the least expensive and best one so far, helpful staff, nice shop, and ice cold drinks out front , don't forget there is more to see up the hill in another site and your 110 Turkish £ ticket covered it, on the same day
Kevin P — Google review
The Forgotten Glory of the Lydian Empire / Sardis, once the glittering capital of the Lydian Empire, offers a remarkably well-preserved glimpse into a once-thriving ancient civilization. The Lydian Empire flourished in western Anatolia from the 7th to 6th century BCE and is credited with inventing the world’s first known coinage, made of electrum. Under the legendary King Croesus, Sardis became synonymous with immense wealth and influence. One of the most impressive structures in Sardis today is the Roman-era gymnasium, with its reconstructed two-story marble façade, soaring arches, and monumental design that showcased Roman ideals of strength and education. Just beside it lies the grand ancient synagogue—one of the largest known from antiquity—testifying to the vibrant Jewish community that lived in Sardis. The synagogue’s well-preserved mosaic floors, adorned with geometric patterns, and the standing columns create a vivid picture of religious life in the late Roman period. When we arrived, we were surprised to find so few visitors despite the vastness of the site. It felt peaceful and uncrowded, allowing us to reflect more deeply. Seeing the scale of Sardis made us realize how vast and powerful the empire must have been. We truly hope more people take the time to visit this impressive and meaningful place. #SardisAncientCity #LydianEmpire #RomanGymnasium #AncientSynagogue #Mosaics #Croesus #SevenChurches

This was such a lovely place to visit. Lots of biblical and ancient history. It’s not as big as some other sites so you wouldn’t need as much time. I enjoyed visiting.
Crystal H — Google review
The City of Sardis. The capital of the Lydian empire of 200,000 inhabitants. Had the largest synagogue in Asia Minor and known for its elaborate Bath system and Gymnasium. A place you must see in turkey. This place in one of the seven churches mentioned in the bibile. The letter to the church in Sardis, warns its believers to Wake-up and take their walk with The Lord seriously.
Yohan F — Google review
Visited the ruins while on group tour with members of my church. We were amazed with the excavated ruins dating back to the Byzantine and Lydian eras. The gymnasium building and synagogue mosaics were definite highlights.
Anthony D — Google review
Sardis is really captivating with the walls renovated by Jewish people but still they preserved it so well
Vicky G — Google review
It's worth the trip. The synagogue is the largest antiquity of its kind

Ancient Ruins
The Asclepieion of Pergamon, located in Bergama, is a significant historical site dating back to the 4th century BC. This ancient complex was dedicated to Asclepius, the god of health, and served as a place of healing centered around natural springs. The main complex features circular architecture with interconnected passages and tunnels, along with a partially restored theater and stoa. Visitors can also enjoy stunning views of the hilltop Pergamon site from this location.
Great stop on our tour with interesting historical stories. Went in the middle of the week towards the end of the afternoon. Very few people so able to take our time looking around.

Bob C — Google review
Healing Sanctuary of the Ancient World / The Asclepieion of Pergamon was not only a center for physical healing, but also a symbolic heart of ancient Greco-Roman medical science. Founded in the 4th century BC and flourishing during the Roman period, it was one of the three most famous healing temples of antiquity, alongside Epidaurus and Kos. It functioned as a sacred place where medicine, religion, and ritual came together in harmony. Patients would undergo purification rituals, offer sacrifices, and enter the temple through a long sacred way. Inside, treatments included dream interpretation, the use of medicinal herbs, hydrotherapy, mud baths, and even sound therapy using music and theater. The sacred spring was believed to have healing powers, and the underground tunnel—used to guide patients from the entrance to the heart of the sanctuary—symbolized a spiritual transition. When we visited the site, we were truly amazed by the scale of the sanctuary, especially the tunnel and the sacred water area. Even though centuries have passed, the infrastructure was still impressive. The massive columns, the length of the healing tunnel, and the well-preserved water systems reflected how advanced and well-planned this place was. It made us appreciate how seriously healing and human well-being were taken in the ancient world. #AsclepieionOfPergamon #AncientHealing #GalenLegacy #SacredSpring #AncientTunnel #PergamonHistory

We went as part of a tour towards the end of January and the place was very quiet. It is a beautiful location, steeped in the history of being the first medical healing space in the Western world. We were accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide who explained everything to us. We were lucky to be the only 6 people there and had plenty of time to take a lot of uninterrupted photos. Highly recommended.

Acropolis Lower Cableway Station

Transportation service
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
The Acropolis Lower Cableway Station offers a convenient mode of transportation to reach the Acropolis. However, if you wish to visit the museum located upstairs, an additional fee is required. Alternatively, you can choose not to go up and explore the area around the station instead. During such exploration, you may have the opportunity to interact with local vendors like Elif who sells delightful wild honey.
A good way to access the akropolis and then walk down. One-way ticket for foreign tourists is 400 TL, the price is steep but so it's the hill. At the top station there are shops for souvenirs and refreshments. One vendor even has frozen water bottles.
Bob C — Google review
They charge L500 each per return trip or L350 for a one way 3 minute ride. And that’s before paying to enter the Akropolis site. So we walked up (45 min) and down again through the additional places of interest for L0. You’re better to drive, walk or get a taxi.
Stephen H — Google review
There is a cable car which takes you to the Acropolis but upstairs you need to pay extra to see the museum. I honestly didnt go up. I stayed down and bonded with a local lady named Elif who was selling the most delicious wild honey so I bought two jars and we just talked.
Diana A — Google review
If you have a car you're better off driving up, same views and you don't have to pay to park at the gondola and then also pay for the gondola itself. There isn't even a parking lot, what are you charging for?
Joshua H — Google review
Best way to go up. Buy the Aegean Museum Card is cheaper to visit all the sites Permagon, Red Basilica, Asklepion, Permagon Museum and mach more.

Suuçtu Falls

Outdoor Activities
Hiking area
Waterfall dropping off a sheer cliff into natural pools ringed by forest greenery & picnic benches.
A great place to visit for a short trip. There’s also a forest with camping space and a place for fireworks so you can bring something with you and chill in the quite forest area. You need to take care of kids because this place is not super safe for them. Also a wheelchair access missed but you can watch everything from panoramic view terrace on the entry. A parking space is free here.

Surrounded by lush green forest, the waterfall cascades elegantly over a high rock face, creating a peaceful atmosphere ideal for a picnic or nature walk. The cool mist and the sound of falling water provide a refreshing escape from the summer heat. It’s also great for photography and relaxing by the rocks. Easily accessible and family-friendly, Suuçtu is a perfect spot for a short nature

A splendid place. Natural waterfalls, beautiful forest and, at the same time, all the conveniences such as benches, toilets and a cafe. Be sure to walk a bit down the river stream — there are less people there and the nature is more authentic. Tickets are bought at the car gates and cost 30 TL per car.

Great place and great photo opportunity but way undeserved with almost zero facilities (except to small convience shop). The toalit is located on a relatively high piece of land, very inconvenient to the less able people. The pictures are self explanatory.

⛰️Peaceful, majestic, and awe inspiring. I went here in mid March and I had the waterfall to myself. Getting here from Bursa ➡️ Go to main bus station, take bus to Mustafakemalpaşa (50L) ➡️ Taxi to suuçtu (250TL) I'm sure you can bargain for less but my taxi driver was awesome and joined me on my adventure plus the drive is 20-30 min. There's typically a bus that goes to the next town but this was off season so it wasn't available. My only option was a taxi. ✅ Free entry (at least when I went) Be careful the rocks are extremely slippery. I wish I could have went hiking but it was so muddy I wasn't able to walk very far before going back. I spent about an hour there but you can easily spend several hours if you wanted to hike.

Perfect place for nature lovers. Butterflies and birds all around. Water is cold and simply beautiful overall atmosphere. Loved it!

Simply amazing! Definitely a must see! The place is magical with the great view and fresh air. The administration did a great job organising and keeping the place clean. After you are done admiring the natural beauty of the waterfall there is even a great picnic place with tables where you can enjoy your time and if you aren't prepared for a picnic then the cafe by the road is a perfect choice.

Being there was like a dream. At the first time seeing I was amazed. Even my two years of daughter amazed. Suuçtu word which is Turkish means water fly. Waterfall is made of stone. All its part is stone. There are picnic ares around the waterfall. I was there week days there was not many people but weekend seems busy. My company travelistanbul.co/ may take you this lovely place and share this God creature beauty with you. Enjoy the photos.

The world's longest, this aerial tram travels 5.5 miles from the city to a nearby ski resort & park.
Have been here 2 times.. 2019 and 30 December 2024. My son was excited during the whole trip. ❤️❤️
Sabara — Google review
It was an okay ride. The price was high compared to the ride. There was a bit of a wait to get the tickets and there was a part of the lift that was not working so we only were able to ride half of it. If you have money to spare do it or else, it’s okay to miss it. One of the employees spoke arabic so that was very helpful.
Mike A — Google review
The view is absolutely stunning and worth seeing at least once. However, the cable car is quite expensive—especially for non-Turkish visitors, and it's unclear why there's a price difference. What's more frustrating is that they still charge the full fare even when the second station is closed, meaning you can't reach the summit. While it's officially "due to maintenance," it's clear that this closure is seasonal, as the upper section is simply not open in summer. Overall, it felt overpriced for a partial experience. I’m glad I saw it once, but I wouldn’t go again.
Elfra F — Google review
While the views from the Uludağ cable car are undeniably breathtaking, the overall experience left much to be desired. As a foreigner, I was charged 950 TL (around €22), which feels unfairly steep—especially considering that half the line was apparently "under maintenance" (we were told we couldn’t reach the summit, a common excuse it seems during the low season). There was no prior warning about the limited access, and no reduced fare to reflect the shorter ride. Beyond the scenic ride itself, the rest of the experience felt disorganized and poorly managed. For the price paid, I expected more than just a one-way view and vague explanations. The natural beauty is there, but everything else—from pricing to transparency—needs serious improvement.
Carmine M — Google review
Love it... Very organized. The fast line cost 300 lira but it's worth it... You don't have to wait to get there. Clean cars, the mountains are beautiful, touring the forest is a must. Must try if u visit Bursa
Ola J — Google review
Wonderful experience to fly through the mountains covered with trees and clouds on top. I am so happy that the people and government of Turkey have taken a good care of their country. Would love to visit again.
Haroon M — Google review
The views were great. But the prices were outrageous. My Turkish fiancé was 90 tl to ride the cable car whereas, they charged me 300 tl because of my USA passport. It’s not fair. We spent 110 tl on just 2 coffees. Make sure to bring your own food because everything is overpriced. Other than that, the mountain is a great place to escape the heat and stress of the city. Many playgrounds for children.
Kerenza P — Google review
One of the amazing experiences I had in Turkey. The cable way has 2 stops. The first one (Satialan) is at 1635 m altitude. Once out, you will fund many activities and things to do for the whole family. You can have nature walks in the amazing fir forest, play at the adventure park, rent a bike or ATV, have a picnic in nature and many other things. You can easily spend the day there especially for families. The second stop (kurbagakaya) is at 1810 m altitude. It has ski resorts and chalets. The ride in the cable way itself is amazing since you go up Uludag mountain, then ride almost horizontally, then ride to to the top very close to the trees where you can enjoy the fir trees. It is a must when in Bursa.

🕌 A must-see place in Bursa! Ulu Cami (Grand Mosque) is one of the finest examples of early Ottoman architecture. The atmosphere inside is peaceful, and the historical details are truly impressive. A perfect spot to take photos and feel the spirit of history.
Медина Н — Google review
The Ulu Cami Mosque is an absolute must-see! If you visit Bursa, this magnificent mosque should definitely be on your list. It was commissioned by Sultan Bayezid I after his victory at the Battle of Nicopolis in 1396 and completed around 1399. The mosque was designed by the famous architect Ali Neccar, and it stands as one of the finest examples of early Ottoman architecture. Built in the Seljuk multi-dome style, it features 20 domes supported by massive pillars, a design that symbolically reflects the Sultan’s vow to build twenty mosques, which he instead fulfilled by constructing one grand mosque with twenty domes. As its name suggests, the “Great Mosque” is truly majestic, richly decorated with intricate calligraphy, geometric motifs, and a central fountain used for ablution. Ulu Cami marks an important transition between the Seljuk and classical Ottoman styles, blending simplicity, symmetry, and spiritual harmony.

Koza Han, also known as Cocoon Han, is a historic silk market with stunning Ottoman-era architecture and a wide range of retailers. This multilevel han was built at the end of the 15th century by architect Abdul Ula Bin Pulad Shah under the orders of Ottoman Sultan Bayezid II. The han served as an inn for merchants and consists of two courtyards, barns, warehouses, and 95 rooms.
Beautiful building. Courtyard offered a serene place for a cup of tea. Bazaar style shopping to be had around the outside of building. Inside had lil shops with silk scarves and delicates. Fresh fruits and veggies galore a lil further down. Enjoyed this explorer day alot!
Hana S — Google review
Visiting friends in Bursa for the Adha holiday, I was invited, among other places, to experience the special atmosphere of this charming place, the Koza Han, where people flock from various places in Turkey and around the city. It’s a huge courtyard where cafés and other shops abound, each offering their unique coffee flavor, sweets or food. We settled in one corner overlooking the yard, and waited patiently for what proved to be the best Turkish coffee I’ve tasted to date: Gözde kahve (favorite coffee). What makes it unique is the way it’s prepared slowly over coal, the way one would barbecue. The server brought the trays carrying the empty cups (each of a different color), as well as water and loukoum, a local tradition, which I find endearing. Later, when the coffee was ready, he brought each separately in a copper coffee pot, made differently to meet each of our tastes (sweet, black, half sugar). Just sitting there and observing the crowd around gives one a sense of serenity and calm, something we needed at the end of a very busy and tiring day. People sitting and chatting, others mulling around, the smell of coffee brewing hanging in the air, it’s all a pleasure one has to experience. I would definitely recommend for everyone who gets the chance to enjoy 😊 this treat.

It might be a historical place. But it is occupied by cafes. And everyone smokes here. You can feel vibe of smoking heaven. If there are not many cafes here like now, it would be much beautiful and great place than now.

Beautiful place with shops specialized in different things but mostly silk. Ambient is nice. There is very small masjid in the middle from 2hich you can take more panoramic pics and videos fir the place. I gave it 4 instead of 5 because only being small but there several other Han beside it so you can walk for longer time and see other shops but most importantly enjoy the sepcial vibe there.

Kuşcenneti Milli Parkı

National park
Nature & Parks
Lakeside park with look-out tower to spot migrating birds like herons, pelicans & cormorants.
An estimated 255 species of birds visit Bird Paradise National Park at the edge of Kuş Gölü, the lake formerly known as Manyas Gölü. Loca ted on the great migratory paths between Europe and Asia, the park is a happy combination of plant cover, reedbeds and a lake that supports at least 20 species of fish. The park will delight amateur and professional birdwatchers alike, and a good field guide and some mosquito repellent will enhance the experience. At the entrance to the park, there is a small museum with displays about various birds. Binoculars are provided at the desk and visitors make their way to an observation tower. Two main groups of birds visit the lake: those that come here to breed (March–July), and those that pass by during migration, either heading south (November) or north (April–May). Among the birds that breed around the lake are the endangered Dalmatian pelican, the great crested grebe, cormorants, herons, bitterns and spoonbills. Over three million birds fly across the area on their migratory routes – storks, cranes, pelicans and birds of prey like sparrowhawks and spotted eagles. April and May are the best months to enjoy this area. Close to the main park area, there is a restaurant that serves fresh trout, and it is a good spot to break for lunch.

Probably went at the wrong time of day but barely saw some flamingos in the distance. Have to pay to get in and olits really small and you have to pay to use the telescope in the only tower. Not worth it.
James G — Google review
Lovely park, however the best view you get is from the live stream screens in the museum. The tower is a good idea, 1 lira to use the telescopes where you cannot adjust focus or zoom. Overall the live feeds were amazing, but I wish the telescopes were better and that you could walk around more

I was there 30 years ago. My memory was a huge wild forest. It is now looks like a mansion garden. It is possible to see some pelicans and other sea birds like flamingo. Or you can visit museum and check filled birds.

The road from balikesir took an hour to reach to the bird paradise kus cenneti entrance for adult is 35 tl when u enter on the right side there is a small display room for the birds which will take 10 minutes to finish then u can head to the tower unfortunately the lift was broken so no chance for elderly people to go up, at roof only 2 binoculars are working and u need the 1tl coin to work it Few birds were spotted may be because it is summer Place is small in general and need more attention No cafes or stores are available inside
Aseel A — Google review
It's a nice place to visit. There is a birds museum but it's not very big, you can see only local birds there. You can also sit in the chair and watch birds online from cameras placed over the natural park. The thing I liked most is a possibility to watch birds. You can take binoculars for free and watch birds from the Birds watching tower.
Viktoriia A — Google review
The national park is only about 20 minutes away from Bandirma but, the minibus station from which minibuses drive to the park is a little far from the city centre. There are minibus services to the park and back a few times during the day. The park itself is worth to see from my opinion as there are not many other places to visit in Bandirma. The park has a little museum in which you can find taxidermy birds common in the park. There is also a watch tower from where you can watch birds nesting, etc. You might borrow a pair of binoculars from the museum to see the birds in a better manner. The park is so quite and far from city noise pollution. So, it could be a unique experience for you particularly if you enjoy birdwatching. The villagers at the nearby village are also friendly and helpful.

Mudanya Armistice House, a 19th-century building, is a significant historical site where the 1922 treaty recognizing the Republic of Turkey was signed. The museum inside offers an immersive experience, showcasing preserved rooms from that era and the very table where the historic treaty was signed. This pivotal moment in Turkish history marked the end of the military theater of Turkish War of Independence.

The rooms are well preserved, and you can really feel the spirit of the early years of the Republic. The staff are very kind and helpful, always ready to explain and guide you. It’s right by the sea, peaceful and elegant. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Bursa or Mudanya. Note:closed on Mondays

It's a historical mark for Turkish Nation and the place in where the ceasefire agreement was signed and ended the military theater of Turkish War of Independence. Fun fact; even though the battle was between Turkey and Greece on the battleground, Greek representatives weren't allowed to take part of the treaty and waited in a ship nearby.

There were plastic chairs and tables at the terrace which means that the staff makes good time out of working hours. But can we see the great view of the terrace? Hell no! Unfortunately the door is locked to the visitors. And you can see the rooms from the corridor, but no entrance and close glance. So you can only visit the corridors of the museum. Welcome to Turkish style museum visiting. By the way, just two floors, and only corridors, they are going to take your 5 Turkish fancy Liras. Come on guys, you won the Independence War at this building!

Hey, if you're into history, this place is from the 4th century! You'll see some cool Byzantine paintings. It became a mosque after the Ottomans took over. It's the original Hagia Sophia, so it's awesome. I found this place because it's mentioned in a book by Hakan Mengüç. Bring your own headscarf, though; they have some, but not many. It's wheelchair accessible, too. My kids loved it, and there's a park nearby. 🏛️🕌🇹🇷

"It is a beautiful mosque that has become famous as the Green Mosque. Evliya Çelebi The construction of the mosque, which was started by Çandarlı Halil Hayreddin Pasha in 1378-1379, was completed by his son Ali Pasha in 1391-1392 after the death of the pasha. The construction of the mosque took 14 years and according to the information in its inscription, its architect was Musaoğlu Hacı. During the War of Independence, the Greek forces that occupied the city stole its plaques, carpets and rugs; they tried to burn the columns and altars by pouring oil on them. The damaged building underwent serious repairs between 1956-1969 and the minaret, which was damaged in the earthquake, was restored with its tiles and gained its current appearance. The single-domed mosque, consisting of a harim and a narthex, has a rectangular plan. There is an inverted tulip motif under the columns at its two corners. The top row is decorated with an oyster motif. The minaret, a masterpiece that gave its name to the mosque, left its mark on its era with its tile decorations. The tiles on the minaret alone form a zigzag motif in turquoise, green and purple. The marble mihrab has strong stonework and is the first marble mihrab of the Ottoman Empire. The mosque's last restoration was carried out in 2015.

The Iznik Green Mosque (Yeşil Cami) is a historic Ottoman mosque located in the town of Iznik, Turkey. Built between 1378 and 1391 during the reign of Sultan Murad I. It was commissioned by Sadrazam (Grand Vezier) Çandarlı Kara Halil Hayreddin Pasha. The mosque is one of the earliest examples of Ottoman architecture, showcasing the transition from Seljuk to classical Ottoman style. Its name comes from the green tiles that once adorned its minaret, though much of the original tilework has been lost or faded over time. The mosque features a single dome over the prayer hall, a portico with elegant arches, a slender minaret decorated with glazed green and turquoise tiles which remains its most distinctive feature. Today, the Green Mosque stands as an important cultural and architectural landmark in Iznik, attracting visitors interested in early Ottoman design and history.

Nice location. We parked our car near the court complex and walked. Vehicles cannot reach close to the house — you need to walk or use the cycle track. We saw buggy cars near the monument; they might have come from the entry on the other side. You can view the complex from outside without an entrance fee. The garden is nice.

We went to yelova to visit this place. The walk to reach this place was really nice. The kosk is still as it was. The story behind this place is simply amazing. The view from this place is so beautiful. If you are around, come and see this place.

One of Ataturk's most famous reslndences that has been converted into a museum. The cafe and the complex that it is situated in is well preserved and the personnel are helpful and sympathetic.

Yuruyen Kosk is known to locals as "the walking house". This is because Ataturk decided the building was too close to a large tree. Instead of removing the tree, he had the mansion moved. Ataturk first visited Yalova in 1927. He had specifically chosen this as his destination as he wanted to make use of the local thermal facilities. Whilst he was staying in this area he stayed in Baltaci Farm which was a wooden pavilion next to the thermal bath. Ataturk commissioned the construction of a mansion for himself in Millet Farm and this was finally completed in 1929. The originally house made from wood was renovated later. The two-story building has three lounges and eleven rooms and is well equipped with furniture that has been taken from the Dolmabahce Palace.

Must visit Aside from historical value. They moved the house to save the tree

The prettiest park in Izmit/Kocaeli where you can walk, cycle, or do any other activities. The park is well maintained so I gotta say the local government is doing a great job to maintain it very clean and safe. There are some modern playgrounds in the park where kids can play safely away from the water, so don't worry letting them play and run around the park. The park also has one retired fighter jet F4 Phantom from Turkish Airforce. You can grab your picnic stuff and just have a very enjoyable time sitting by the water. Absolutely recommend visiting!

The view is beautiful, the food is of the same quality, the hot eggplant stuffed meatballs are excellent. But there is a lot of parking problem. You must come before or after meal time. (Original) Ogle yemegi için geldik. Çok kalabalıktı buna rağmen keyifler yemeğimizi yedik. Manzara güzel yemekler aynı kalitede sıcak patlıcan dolması icli kofte mükemmel. (Translated by Google) The dirty plates and forks of the customers who finish their meals in the delicious restaurant are thrown onto a table right in front of our eyes. I say thrown away because cutlery is thrown into the box, causing incredible noise and eye pollution. This actually bothered me a lot. Also, the toilet cleaning and maintenance is very poor, which does not suit a restaurant of this type. When you pay this much money, you want a place that you believe is clean. They even took money for the small pipes they brought to the table. As you know, their products are already more than expensive.

Shopping
Located in the Pendik district of Istanbul, Turkey, Viaport Asia Outlet Shopping is a renowned shopping destination offering an extensive selection of 250 stores. This outlet mall provides a diverse range of entertainment options including a cinema and bowling alley. It prides itself on being one of the most visited shopping centers in Istanbul and features an open-air layout beside a picturesque lake, creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.
Nice place to spend the afternoon, many shops, clean toilets, wifi and food and drink joints. The prices are very high though.

Major brands & local brands, very good place to do shopping. Reasonable prices in most locations. Very crowded in the weekend. Highly recommend for shopping 👍👍👍
Sameeh F — Google review
It's huge outlet mall located near Istanbul airport 🛫, so you will need a taxi 🚕 to come here, the have all variety of shops and all brands are offering discount prices, the mall is outdoor so choose your visit days to avoid rain 🌧. Overall it's nice shopping 🛍 experience and worth the distance from istanbul to here.
Tarek R — Google review
Bright, airy corridors lit by skylights make strolling here feel almost outdoors, and the faint smell of roasted chestnuts from the snack carts follows you between shops. Music switches from Turkish pop to 80-synth hits mid-visit—kept the energy up while hunting for deals on LC Waikiki and Nike outlets. Prices drop even further during the mid-season “Indirim” sales (ask the info desk; banners aren’t always updated), and I spotted a few familiar staff back from last year’s holiday rush—nice to see friendly faces who remember sizes. Weekday mornings are blissfully uncrowded, so you can actually test the memory-foam sneakers without a queue, though the way-finding signs could use brighter lettering. Tip: after checkout, head to the tax-free counter near Entrance 3 before grabbing simit—saves you time when your airport shuttle arrives.

Distinctive mall. There is no ceiling. It has a large number of brands. Also a lot of outlet shops. Good space for walking. There are various cafes and also many restaurants. There is also a children's play area. The place is well serviced with bathrooms.

Nice place to get gifts before heading home. All malls in winter don't have summer clothes and finally found it here. But still it's called an outlet and most of the prices are high? 😕 Loved the place because it's close to the airport and my hotel is attached to the mall.

The Istanbul Toy Museum, established by poet and writer Sunay Akin in 2005, is housed in a historic mansion on the Anatolian side. It features a collection of old-fashioned toys and miniatures dating back 200 years, gathered from over 40 countries. The museum offers an immersive experience with sections dedicated to space games simulating moon missions and train games representing the industrial revolution.
Very good collection of toys, each exhibition has it's story. The museum has a lot of thematic rooms and some showcases have QR codes to explain the interesting story behind some of those toys, I really recommend scanning those. The place also has a cafeteria in the backyard.
Litos H — Google review
For the price and purpose, which is for children, there are no toys for kids to play with, it is not interactive. And the places where kids can stick there heads in to take a picture, are to high for kids under 6 years! Put something there so can climb a little. Come on. Nice old toys to see but the story can be made much better. For the price not worth it.
Yah P — Google review
An amazing museum without elevator! I loved this place too much. Worthy collection of toys. Thousands of toys are beautifully demonstrated. The museum building is a five floor beautiful building. each floor has three or four rooms and each room is dedicated to special category. Even the music and sounds you hear is designed specially for that special category. Every part of this museum is telling story. The coffee shop, corridors, even the toilet is designed and decorated artistically. I wish it was suitable for Elderly, disabled or disabled people since It was not equipped with an elevator. I also had a special experience which was so unique. Closely to the time that went there an earthquake had happened in the eastern cities of Turkey and the people had brought their toys to send them for earthquake affected areas. It was really special moments, seeing them organizing and packing the toys by a lot of kind volunteers and employees. The ticket price was 90₺ for a turkey residents and 250₺ for tourists.

It is a very interesting place small but very unique and some figures and toys that they have there are very very rare and unique. The house is small and compact it gives u a nice atmosphere.I added some photos but Don't want to upload many as people need to see them on visit. There is a cafe on the lover level with the toy theme I didn't order anything but it was looking great . Entrance was 420 liras

This place walks you through the history of how and why these toys were made. There are multiple floors with different rooms that have distinct themes. There are written texts that explain each of the exhibited toys in multiple languages which is really helpful and interesting. There’s also a really nice outdoor coffee shop.

Golden Horn

Inlet
Sights & Landmarks
The Golden Horn is a horn-shaped estuary in Istanbul, Turkey, serving as the primary inlet on the Bosporus. It is a bustling commercial hub with parks and has been home to sultans and their entourage for over four centuries. Overlooking the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara, Topkapi Palace offers stunning courtyards, gardens, and buildings where thousands used to reside. The palace's harem once housed hundreds of concubines and staff.
Crossing the Golden Horn at night was an unforgettable experience. The water shimmered under the city lights, with reflections of mosques, bridges, and the ever-busy Istanbul skyline creating a mesmerizing view. The contrast between the historical landmarks and the modern cityscape was striking, making it one of those moments that truly capture the essence of Istanbul. Whether by ferry, car, or on foot across one of its bridges, the Golden Horn at night offers a unique perspective of the city. The illuminated mosques and streets on both sides make for a stunning sight, and the cool night breeze over the water adds to the atmosphere. Definitely a must-experience moment when in Istanbul!
Omz ( — Google review
Golden Horn (Haliç) is an inlet of the Bosphorus with two rivers draining into it at the far end. It is considered to be the world’s largest natural harbor and separates the European shore of Istanbul into two. The best places to observe the Golden Horn’s activity and grace are the Galata Bridge if you want ringside seats, and the Topkapi Palace or Pierre Loti Café if you prefer a bird’s-eye view. As a natural and extremely secure harbor, the Golden Horn has played an important role in the development of Istanbul and was often the subject of attacks. With the absence of tides and currents, the Byzantine Empire had its naval headquarters in this 7,5 km long Bosphorus inlet

Went to Turkey on a holiday and that was a mistake. Getting the tickets to the Golden horn cruise was almost impossible. The place was jampacked and there is no empty space. Thankful that our tour guide is quick and clever. Anyway, the cruise had its magic on me once we were out in the river far from the craze of the crowd. I felt so lucky and in awe sailing the Bosphorus, a waterway full of history and pride. I can't contain my amazementcwishing the entire cruise that I was born there, or atleast live there. The views, the river itself, the bridge, the spots, everything is remarkable. I wish to go back and do it again.

Hiking Trails
View talks.. Good spot for hiking. Recommended in October or November.
Khadija A — Google review
Such a beautiful spot!! We went in October during the week and weren’t charged any entrance fee. It’s true there is litter on the grounds (so sad) but it doesn’t really take away from the experience. Especially if you’re only visiting on a day trip. I wouldn’t call the hike difficult but the trail has overgrown shrubs in some areas that are thorny so I recommend long sleeves and pants. There were also goats with accompanying dogs and the dogs can be aggressive, but if you show dominance and wave your arms and yell, they’ll run back. Don’t let them scare you. It’s a fairly easy trail to follow but I had a lot of trouble finding a map online beforehand. When we got there, the restaurant owner at Kilimli Restaurant had maps so if you’re worried you could ask him for one. It took us about 2.5 hours to complete the loop and end up at the restaurant again. Please remember to clean up after yourself, there isn’t maintenance on the trail and it’s such a shame to see this beautiful spot tarnished by people’s lack of care for the environment. We need to do better.
