Very relaxing spa experience. We were lucky enough to enjoy nice weather while sitting in outdoor hot pool. The view is calming and green. The lunch was tasty and in good size. We also can recommend massages.
Izabela C — Google review
Rooms were small and we got a room with no view despite the place being entirely empty they could have given us a room with the green field view. No air conditioner and had to ask for a fan which was not already provided. Food was good especially breakfast. Pools were ok but the pool outside could be a bit colder given that is was summer. Overall expensive and nothing more than ok.

Great pools and saunas. The staff is very pleasant and the treatments were good. The food tasted amazing as well!

(Translated by Google) The first time we were there and we were very pleasantly surprised, nice and cozy spa, very good food and also breakfast. The only thing we might have missed was a hot tub, but otherwise the spa was extremely nice, calm and nice. Nice staff. So we would love to come back here sometime! :)

(Translated by Google) Visited this spa with overnight stay and 3 course menu and breakfast. The place is a nice and cozy place away from traffic and noise[really nice]. Really warm and pleasant outdoor pool with well-tempered water as well as an indoor pool with nice water temperature, what I could miss was a jacuzzi which was unfortunately not available. The 3 course dinner was really good, so it is highly recommended to choose it. When it came to breakfast, it was a bit meager, a bit too small to choose from. The rooms were quite simple, the bed was beyond expectations...really comfortable including pillows and duvets. The staff and its service were top notch...So can only recommend this place for a quiet and relaxed day or overnight stay.

(Translated by Google) Without a doubt one of the best spas I've been to! From the idyllic countryside, to super nice staff and wonderful food and pools. My girl gang and I were so happy with the weekend at Högby! Recommended for everyone! Definitely want to go there again. From vegans to nut allergy sufferers, we could all eat our fill.

(Translated by Google) We did 1 day's spa without overnight stay. (2pm-5pm) Wonderful place, cozy but with plenty of space both outside and inside. Very nice service oriented and helpful staff. We will easily go back!!! (Original) Vi gjorde 1 dags spa utan övernattning.(kl14-17:00) Underbart ställe mysigt men med gott om plats i både ute och inne. The Motala Motor Museum is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and lovers of vintage machinery. Situated in a picturesque lakeside location, the museum boasts an extensive collection of over 300 vehicles spanning different eras, from humble models to extravagant ones. In addition to cars and motorcycles, the museum also features old radio equipment and a photography exhibit.
Nice place to visit. Definitely I was surprised with some things that are already in museum but we are getting older 😅

WoW what a super collection. Must visit for vintage cars and bike admirers. They also have an amazing collection of vintage radios and gramophones and phones. Worth a trip!
Smita P — Google review
Excellent museum. It is not so big, but really interesting. If you are visiting Motala, you have to visit the place. The neighborhood is amazing, with beautiful landscapes.
Josivaldo S — Google review
Recommend a visit here if your in or passing by Motala, lots of history and plenty to see, cars, motorbikes, bicycles, radios, mobile phones, planes and much more. Everything is written in both Swedish and English. Toilets available both inside the museum and the cafe.
Emma N — Google review
The entrance is near to the lake corner. Around 12 euros per adult. Inside there are a lot of motors, bicycles, motorcycles and other associated objects. The collection has a lot of items, not so much interactive or engaging part of you are not very passionate of motors or old objects. Need mote English panels for more exhibits. Better if cheaper.
SVC — Google review
10 stars. A treat for fans of old motorization, but not only cars, which are huge here, motorcycles, but also radios, TV sets, cameras and even telephones or glued models. To be here and not to visit ... Hundreds of exhibits. These aren't just random models. Usually these are exhibits that have been used by famous people. You will be in Motala be sure to visit the museum
Marek D — Google review
This was a very special place for the people who like the idea of old and historic cars. It's a bit full of the cars in various types and there is also a little museum of foto, radio and phones at the place. It was not very crowded and with a lot of different kinds of vehicles. A bit too many to my taste but still ok. The entrance fee was 110 SEK.
Thomas K — Google review
Beautiful little museum with not only loads of fine cars and motorcycles to look at but also all kinds of things from the "past" including a whole wall with old cell phones where we stood a long time remembering our old phones through the years. Nice little shop and cafe. Small section for kids too where our daughter could sit and play.

Historic site. Church built after the death of St. Birgitta in the 14th century. Highly recommend a visit. Keep a look out for an older man Ronny (worth a visit in itself), who leads prayers every day
Christian H — Google review
Very beautiful church with lots of history.
Anders K — Google review
Vdastena is the spiritual epi centre of Sweden. St Brigitte established her first Monastery here. It became the foundation for the spiritual renewal of Sweden. Here we find a courageous woman took leadership in transforming the society explicitly on spiritual power. Her daughter Katerina joined her mother in establishing the spiritual centre and propagating the Christian life with commitment and dedication. St Brigitte is the Patron Saint of Europe and still waves of pilgrims visit this place to draw guidance and intervention of Queen Saint Brigitte.

Vadstena Castle

Mentioned on
2 lists
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Vadstena Castle, constructed in 1545 by King Gustav I, is a heavily fortified castle that overlooks the lake and is considered one of the finest early Renaissance buildings in the Nordic region. The upper floors are furnished and offer a glimpse into the history of the early Vasa kings, with gloomy portraits and a modest historical display. Visitors can explore the chapel, known for its incredible 17-second echo. Guided tours are available from mid-July to mid-September.
Not only was this castle beautifully renovated into its Renaissance past, it had displays in English as well as Swedish and German. Perhaps the best part was the man who sold us our tickets. He was SO HELPFUL to us. We had been given a parking ticket in another town, and being from USA we were having a very hard time trying to figure out the process of what we had done wrong and hope to contact the ticking company. He was able to help us and answer questions about how to avoid them in the future. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this man. He was great.
Laura N — Google review
Outstanding 16 th century Castle, which doubles as Opera House during the summer. Extremely well preserved and presented.
Kirk W — Google review
Loved it. We attended a private party here. The troupe of actors did a great job. There was jousting, magic, and good food. Sir William the Conqueror should have won the joust! Check out the full moon rising over the castle. Experience out of time.

Good place to spend some time with family and relax. Went with my family had a fun time around the park and near by water front area. Beautiful water front area very clean and well maintained. Castle has a souvenir shop inside. It has pretty nice souvenirs soaps, creams, magnets etc.
Nishek K — Google review
Beautiful piece of history. I really like this place and I loved walking around city centre as well and seeing the area around the Castle. Although I did not go in the castle but I would say that the whole nearby area and the lake were quite beautiful as well. Plus, there is a nearby pizza place, great pizza.
Darpan J — Google review

Skullaryd Älgpark

Nature & Wildlife Tours
The safari was fabulous and all the staff were very friendly! It was worth mentioning that the whole place is wheelchair friendly, we really enjoyed the visit and we really appreciate all the assistance from the warmhearted staff with the wheelchair handling. The souvenir shop is also very good, there are many choices if you want to buy some special items to keep the memory. Highly recommended! And big thanks to the lovely family!
Sjovan — Google review
We became aware to this Älgpark due to all the positive reviews here and we can absolutely confirm these. This Älgpark is different than other ones, as there are not only moose, but also red deer and fallow deer to see. You are sitting in a trailor and are getting driven through the park by the owners. Once the animals can be seen, they stop and explain interesting facts about the animals you see and give you time to take pictures. For foreigners they offer the explanations in English and German, which is very cool. After the safari, there is still plenty of time to buy some souvenirs in the house boutique that reminds you of this unforgettable experience.
Anonymous.i — Google review
A very nice moose and deer farm to visit only with a „safary“ tour. Book tickets in advance online to be on the safe side, as during high season many people may attend. There are two and sometimes three tours during the day. The guides are all members of the family led farm. They speak Swedish, English, and German. Perhaps a microphone and boxes in the trucks would help to better understand the tour guides as the attending people are usually not super quiet. The farm also has a shop with drinks and tourist souvenirs and animal products.
Simon C — Google review
It was to me a really special experience to see the deers and the moose in such close distance. There were a lot of red deers coming out from the forest. On the website there are only 2 slots per day (11 and 14) but today they offered an additional one at 15:40. The information was well explained in Eng, Ger and Swedish. Highly recommended
Vu L — Google review
It was a good nature reserve for deer, moose and reindeer. Kids enjoyed a lot including adults as it was a great experience. It was a great experience for one hour tour. There are two timings for same (11 am and 2 pm) when we visited in July. There were reindeer, moose and deers. Kids loved it a lot.
Chander V — Google review
We have just returned home after a visit to the park. It has been a wonderful experience. The whole visit was very friendly with great staff and incredible animals. We didn't know what to expect but the visit far exceeded our expectations. The coffee afterwards, and time to reflect was the icing on the cake. Thank you everyone for a great visit.
Paul J — Google review
Promising destination, but we had not read the website well enough. Only two safari each day. Check the timetable in advance! Overall, the location seemed nice, too bad we could not stay and wait for the next scheduled safari this time.
Tommi E — Google review
There are so many Elk-parks in Sweden. This was our second tour. We enjoyed it very much, especially since the information about the animals is shared in three languages (Swedish, English, German) so our four kids (2,6,8,10 yo) could follow the lectures and watch the magnificent wildlife. The price is fair, the tour takes about an hour. The trailers were ab bit packed but not to much to feel uncomfortable, as long as you don’t mind wooden benches. It was a very nice experience and the whole family enjoyed it very much. Thanks to the whole team of the Skullaryd Älgpark!

Interesting site. Good informationboards, even though some signs on the ruins have faded somewhat. Very peaceful and the ruins themselves are absolutely beautiful.
Claire P — Google review
Nice historical site. Some arches of the ruins are still standing and look good. The place is well maintained with good lawn and flowers. Lot of information to explore about this place too. The path is a gravel road for about 300m to this. Free and large parking lot available.

Was driving from Gyllene Uttern to Motala when we saw the ruins. It was a worthwhile stop. The ruins are well preserved. There's even a miniature diaspora.

Nice stop for few minutes, for historic enthusiasts :) Toilets with water are there :)
Vojtěch J — Google review
If you’re interested in Swedish history, this is one of the places to visit. Take your own pick nick basket with you and stay for a coffee break or lunch. There are few tables beside the old monastery for that purpose. We accidentally witnessed a beautiful small wedding ceremony inside the church ruins. Omberg behind the ruins is a magic place to take a walk around.
Minna B — Google review
It is a cozy little ruin after a monastery. You can still see the outline after where the buildings were etc. Unfortunately many of the information signs have lost their text so it wasn't super informative. But there were picnic tables and the grass was mowed so I could really recommend this if you need to take a little break!
Rebecca L — Google review
The most beautiful ruins in Sweden. Most beautiful monetary ruins at that too. You gotta see it to believe it.

Nice typical Swedish country museum. A lot to see. Different old factories, machiney, and explained what they have done over there, back in the days. Everything with an open door, free to visit (on opening hours).

Here you can walk around in the old buildings where the long history of the industry here is presented with many large models and actual machinery. There's also more arts oriented installations and a nice fika place/waffle hut, as well as an arts and crafts shop. Not everything is presented in English, though.

Brahehus Castle Ruin

Historical landmark

Hilltop remains of a stone castle built in the 1600s, with views of the lake & farmlands below.
We visited here as when we drive through the road and suddenly saw the castle from road. It was worth it to stop for a visit. The view with the sea and castle was amazing. There is no historical things to see inside of castle. It just the breathtaking view from all the Windows of castle as inside of it mostly broken But its really worth to see it specially in summer. I will recommend you this much more than Örebro castle.Check my photos and videos so you can take a idea.

A quick visit to see the castle ruins and a beautiful view of lake. It is accessible walk from opposite side of highway by a very short walk. No car access to ruins. Nice location for beautiful photo clicks.

This has become a mandatory visit if you take the E4. A beautiful castle ruin with a backdrop of farm and the huge Vättern. Love the views, lot of photo opportunities. The rest stop has many amenities so worth stopping anyway. And it’s easily walkable from there.

Just abandoned old walls not special place but view is amazing.lake, small farms...
Oguz U — Google review
I was told about this spot from a local Swedish worker. It is a small castle with an amazing overlook of the lake. The castle is run down but was built in the mid 17th century. The views are breath taking and definitely a can’t miss spot for a fifteen or twenty minute break. You will have to park at the rest stop across the highway from the castle, but there is a walking tunnel that is a short two minute walk and there is always plenty of parking. If you are headed this way don’t miss this great view from a 1000 foot cliff with a great feel of Swedish history!

The museum has been centered on the adventurous undertaking of Salomon August Andrée and other explorers in their balloon expedition to the North Pole. The short film after the entry of the museum is worth watching for an overview. There are also other expedition stories and technologies displayed in the museum expanding the theme.
Lang L — Google review
If you are interested in history this is a must see. Never heard of this expedition, so it was all new to us. It has a very intresting short movie so you dive right in the story.
Benjamin J — Google review
Visited with low expectations and it turned out to be a great experience. Nice videos, you get to see real items from the original expedition and the ones to follow. Also an homage to women north pole explorers is a nice touch. Very child friendly, and can take up to two hours.
M. A — Google review
the museum presents the tragic story about people who tried to get the north. During the XIX century the goal about North was really important for people living in Sweden. People became a heroes after expeditions to the north. The story about Andrée, Strindberg and Fraenkel is heroic, but unfortunately the ending is really sad. :-( -Parking is about 150 meters from this place -Staff speak English -One ticket for adult person costs: 70 SEK -There are toilets inside. -Suouvenirs are aviable to buy Take your time to discover the whole story about that jurney plan about 3 hours. The multimedia area is great prepared for the movies, some of them, you can start play on your own.
Wojciech K — Google review
A lot of information about the Andree expedition (including English description), introductory moovie with English subtitles. Space for kids to play and rest while parents read the history of the North Pole expeditions. Pay attention to the different opening hours during the weekend. Very friendly staff in the souvenir shop/ticket office.
Alina W — Google review
Surprisingly interesting and well-thought-of museum. We followed the advice of the staff and started with the short film about the expedition, which was very insightful and emotional. It really sets the tone for the rest of the exhibition, which, on its own, also has a lot of relevant pieces to check out. Worth it.

(Translated by Google) The mini golf course in Hjo city park is absolutely fantastic. The location is perfect with a view of the lake. There are plenty of nearby parking spaces, which are also free of charge. The lady who runs the mini golf course is very nice and cares about the visitors' enjoyment. The course consists of 18 holes, most of which have obstacles that can be folded down, if you want a greater challenge. You can play as much as you want without having to pay an extra amount. Is the only miniature golf course I've played on that allows visitors to play round after round without charging extra. In addition to mini golf, drinks, coffee, coffee and ice cream are available for purchase. Both ball ice cream and regular "box ice cream". In addition, at low prices. The track is usually open between 12:00 and 19:00, but if you are unsure, you can call the number listed in a quick search. (The picture shows my friend who now holds the track record. I should add that he was okay with me posting the picture).

Located in Huskvarna, just north of Jonkoping, the Husqvarna Museum showcases the 300-year history of the renowned company. The museum features hundreds of exhibits, including some of Husqvarna's most significant products such as motorbikes, bicycles, garden equipment, and forestry tools. It provides a comprehensive look at how the company evolved into a global powerhouse.
I loved the museum. Super rich and shows all what the Swedish brand was producing over the years! Wow.

Nice compact museum, with an eclectic mix of exhibits. You need to be a complete geek to enjoy the vast range of power tools and chain saws. The motorcycle sections were excellent and worth the entry fee alone. Good value for money.

Ver interesting and it was a trip down memory lane in some respects. As kid from the seventies I remember my parents' kitchen which looked just like the one in the exhibition

Really interesting history not just of one company but also of life as we remember things. All those things my mum used to have in the kitchen, now long gone, and a few surprises. Who knew solar powered robot grass cutters were first on the market in 1995!! Excellent place for a couple of hours.

An interesting place to go and see whe history of the company Husqvarna. It's not about the city. Gave an interesting view and history of the company. Entrance SEK 120 per peeson was a tad steep for what you get but not many were there and if staff are to be there and keep it open then I guess it's necessary

I'm not a museum person at all, but my boyfriend wanted to go, so I joined him. I must say I really enjoyed it! I love the fact that Husqvarna has produced pretty much every conceivable object possible, and could see them all displayed, and without being too wordy. It was also very cool to see some of the donated items that were still brand new, and others very well used. Thoroughly recommended, even to museum avoiders, and it's a very fair price.

I was really very happy 😊 to visit Husqvarna Museum! I didn’t know nothing about Huskvarna Museum, yesterday i was walking 🚶‍♂️ around and take 🎬 some pictures to Huskvarna town, after i decided to walk more and more until i read Husqvarna, Museum. I was really surprised 😯 to see very interesting 🤨 Museum. I would recommend to everyone who live in Jönköping, and i would recommend to everyone who live around Sweden 🇸🇪 Staff was really very polite and helpful.

The Match Museum

Mentioned on
8 lists
Museum
Specialty Museums
Located on the west side of Jonkoping, The Match Museum, also known as Tandsticksmuseet in Swedish, is a 19th-century factory that offers an intriguing journey through the history of match-making. This museum provides insights into Sweden's workers' rights and the significance of match production to Jonkoping's economy. Visitors can explore the old refurbished factory to learn about the machinery and individuals involved in this industry.
This museum is a tiny temple of fire and nostalgia. It beautifully tells the story of how humble little sticks once lit up the world... literally and metaphorically. You can learn about match-making, factory life, and some surprisingly emotional history (from a political and even an artsy advertising kind of view). It’s oddly charming, heartwarming, slightly flammable, and wonderfully weird. Who knew matches could be this enlightening? 🇩🇪 Für deutsche Besucher/innen gibt's auch am Empfang ein Programmheft mit deutscher Übersetzung 🙃
Fenja N — Google review
In the early 19th century in Sweden, with the advancement of the Industrial Revolution, "matches" became one of the most important daily necessities in the world at that time. Sweden gradually became a major match production center in the world due to its rich wood resources, advanced technology, and strong demand in domestic and foreign markets. •   In 1844, Swedish chemist Gustaf Erik Pasch invented the Safety Match, which was later improved and mass-produced by Johan Edvard Lundström. •   Jönköping was one of the first cities to establish a match factory and became a global match export center, especially in the second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century. Therefore, in order to preserve this highly symbolic industrial and social history, the local government and cultural institutions decided to set up a museum on the site of the old match factory. The Swedish Match Museum not only tells the history of a product, but also reflects the transformation of Swedish society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries - from an agricultural country to industrial modernization and a place in global trade. It is definitely worth visiting this museum in Jönköping. In addition to nostalgia and craftsmanship, it also makes people reflect on "how a small match ignites a country's history and its connection with the world."
SOFIA C — Google review
Nicely made museum but the actual production process is hard to follow. Some more descriptions/ illustrations/ videos would be helpful. Certainly worth a visit when you are in the area
M. S — Google review
This is the unique museum, I suppose the only in the world. It shows us the history of match manufacturing and real equipment for it. There are several rooms with exhibits, little shop with souvenirs. Also, I’ve taken free magazine and brochures to find out more about Swedish match factories and the region. We visited in winter, so the entrance was for free. Thank you for this opportunity! Very unusual but interesting.
Olena T — Google review
The museum was amazing. The staff is nice and it was free as it was höstlöv. We learnt about the history of the matchsticks. You can also make your own matchsticks. I would highly recommend to going to this museum with your family or friends.

Perfect place to spend an couple of hours if you have vacation or come to visit Jonkoping like tourist! Interesting history about matches and big fabric which have produce and sell matches for all world! Definitely must see place Jonkoping!!!! recommended to all , special for families with kids!

Ideal for families or gatherings of young adults, Stadsparkgolfen is an excellent choice due to its optimal level of challenge and size. While there may be superior options available for miniature golf in the vicinity, this venue is worth considering if you find yourself in the area seeking a more relaxed activity. The pricing is relatively fair, making it a viable option for those on a budget.

The Great Bog National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Parks
Nature reserve in a marsh landscape home to moose & diverse birdlife, with walkways through bogs.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Greater Mosse National Park, and it was a truly memorable experience. This national park is a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the park's stunning natural beauty. The vast wetlands, diverse flora, and serene landscapes offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The network of well-maintained trails provides an excellent opportunity to explore the park's unique ecosystems. I particularly enjoyed the boardwalks that meander through the bogs and marshes, allowing for close-up views of the fascinating plant and animal life. Birdwatching here is a delight, with numerous bird species to spot. I was fortunate to see several rare birds, which made the visit even more special. The observation towers strategically placed throughout the park offer fantastic vantage points for taking in the expansive vistas and watching wildlife. The visitor center is very informative, providing detailed information about the park's history, ecology, and the best routes to take for various interests and fitness levels. The staff were friendly and eager to share their knowledge, enhancing the overall experience. Greater Mosse National Park is impeccably preserved, reflecting Sweden’s commitment to conservation. The tranquility and natural beauty of the park make it an ideal destination for anyone looking to reconnect with nature. Whether you're hiking, birdwatching, or simply enjoying the peaceful scenery, this park offers something for everyone. I highly recommend a visit to this stunning natural treasure.

A great place to learn about peatlands. Many options to see, feel, and learn. Very suitable also for families with kids. Short and long hikes with and without staying overnight. Boardwalks right through untouched bog and fen areas. Experience nature here.

What a beautiful national park! We were just passing through and decided to make a stop at Östra Rockne. From there, we took the trail to Lake Svartgölen and back. The hike took less than an hour, but it was absolutely worth it. Stunning nature, peaceful surroundings, and the perfect way to stretch our legs during the trip. Highly recommend this short but rewarding walk if you’re in the area!

I have been visiting all Swedish national parks this one I have pased by 100+ time but it come out 27out of 30 to visit and oh men this was just incredible. I went there early morning to get sunrise and it’s in my top 3 Swedish national parks it is so gorgeous. Hike is very easy it’s only flat. But the view you get in early morning is incredible beautiful. Must visit place if in area. Or even if you are not in are it’s so worth the visit. Easy to park and hike is just beautiful.

High Chaparral

Temporarily Closed
Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Western-style park with a recreated town hosting live action stunt shows & fun learning experiences.
Very good for kids of all ages and grownups. It has something for everyone. A big plus are kid carts that you can rent at a very little cost and you can carry your kids everywhere. Won’t be bringing the stroller next time. A lot of food restaurants at decent prices
Roxana P — Google review
High Chaparral is so much more than a theme park — it’s a living, breathing memory machine. From the moment you step into the dusty streets lined with saloons and old Western facades, you’re transported to the world of cowboys, Native Americans, gold miners, and steam trains. Every little detail — the stagecoach rides, the wooden toys, the smell of smoke from the old steam engine — reminds you of legendary Westerns like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Rio Bravo, Mackenna’s Gold, or Dances with Wolves. If you grew up watching shows like Zorro or reading Huckleberry Finn, this place will strike a deep nostalgic chord. The park brings to life the spirit of American frontier times with a Scandinavian twist — complete with exciting street performances, cowboy duels, and even a spicy Mexican food court that makes you feel like you’ve traveled from Michigan to Mexico City in minutes. It’s a celebration of cultural storytelling and imagination, filled with nods to film legends like Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, and directors like John Ford. Whether you’re a family with kids or a grown-up looking to relive old movie dreams, High Chaparral is a beautifully designed, deeply emotional, and surprisingly authentic experience.

I visited my daughter in Sweden and this is where they took me , loved it was great fun , a live stunt show and the line dancing was hilarious, the instructor was so funny , well worth a visit , lots to do also for children, it would easily fill your day
Josephine M — Google review
Wow, what a place to spend a day at. Worth spending a full day there.. Kids and adults liked it a lot. However, when we took the train, an amazing cinematic scene was done by the crew, but some of the kids got scared. It looked so real to them. A great selection of food with reasonable prices. Parking is paid
Malak O — Google review
Place is a must visit for both adults and kids. Plan the visit as per shows timings. There are few rides on payment basis like train ride etc. Restaurants also available inside premises.
Chander V — Google review
The shows are great, there are some nice restaurants. That are not overpriced so plus for that. The toy guns, hats and belts are not overpriced in the kids section. Before I come to the cons I understand that theme parks have to make money to pay for staff, maintenance and so on. But it's a bit pricey. 399kr for entry, 60kr for riding the train every singel time per person, 30kr to rent gold wash pan (you get a fake gold coin at the end so that is that). The bathrooms vary but the ones in the museum was not great and had the worse smell of sewer. Overall it's Okey, go for the shows.
Fredrik — Google review
Fantastic place to take the kids (both big and small!! 😉). Wonderful shows that don't take all afternoon (max 25 mins), stunts, singing and generally enjoyable. Shows are performed in Swedish (to be expected!) But it's OK not understanding the language as the acting makes up for it. The actors who come out to meet you after the shows do speak English as well and are all up for photos being taken. We paid extra for a second day (worth it!) As we didn't make it around for everything the first day. We went during 1 of the fellesferie weeks which meant it was really busy but we still hot to do everything and see everything so no complaints from us.
Amanda ( — Google review
Very cool park. The interactive plays are very cool for the kids. It's a shame that the train ride costs extra; the tickets to get in the park are expensive enough, but the ride was very cool.

Isaberg Mountain Resort is a delightful holiday village nestled just 500 meters from the ski slopes, making it an ideal getaway for both winter sports enthusiasts and summer adventurers. The resort boasts a variety of self-catering cottages equipped with fully functional kitchens, ensuring a comfortable stay. During the warmer months, visitors can indulge in numerous activities such as minigolf, tree-top climbing, mountain biking on diverse trails suited for all skill levels, and hiking through scenic paths.
The resort was a big hit with the kids (3 and 6 years). We booked a cabin and it was very nice - a little worn, but still very useful. They wrote that a few kitchen items were included, but that was about it. Dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, toilet paper is needed to be on your list of items to bring. You can buy the things there, but not cheap. Cabin was for 5 people so plenty of space and beds were comfortable. The ski slopes were very nice for people who start out skiing, ski school did a great job, comes at a price for private lessons, but worth it. The slopes can get a bit crowded from 10am to about 3pm, but if you are there in the low periods it will be a real nice time. We will be back again about time as it is pretty close to our home.
Thomas P — Google review
Expensive cabins, the ones where animals are allowed you pay extra costs on top for the animals and then we should put our animals into a cage if we are not at home!!! Even if you are only skiing for two hours. It is not allowed that the animals sit on the sofa, beds or armchairs. In my opinion, absolutely absurd, anti-animal and anti-customer.

The resort is full of exciting, well maintained outdoor activities and challenges, making it a perfect destination for active families. The atmosphere is lively yet surrounded by beautiful nature, and the first hour of parking is free, which makes short visits even more convenient.

Better than expected. My girlfriend and I camped in a tent. Really appreciated the stuga right by the tent area. Everything seamed clean and well maintained. We downhill MTB'd for a couple days, hit the freeride park, tuboggen ride, mini golfed, rented a canoe, swam and trail ran. Breakfast buffet was great and a worthy addition for us. Could spend a week here, with some xc biking and a round of golf. Cool spot for active couples and families. Even a outdoor gym. Reasonable prices too. Allt möjligt!

Wonderful vacation spot. We were here during the summer and spent a week in a cabin. The lake is beautiful and basecamp offers more activities than we could do during our stay. Hiking, climbing, mountainbiking, etc. Bikes, canoes etc are for rent. It's all quite expensive but equipment is well taken care off and staff is very kind and helpful. Also the playground is lots of fun and our children (5 and 9) spent a lot of time there. And the climbing forest is a real challenge. The cabin was small but fine, clean and had everything we needed. It's good to be aware that it's on a busy road and there's lots of people coming for the day as well, so if you're looking for quiet time, you might want to stay somewhere else.

The Limmared cultural center is a great place to learn how to glass blow. The instructors are very kind and helpful, and the food is also good. There are many vegan options available, and the tables in the glasshouse are the best. It can be warm in there with all of the glass blowing going on, but that's probably a good thing when it's cold outside!
Perfect little day trip to Glasets Hus in Limmared. There is an exhibition, live glass blowing, Lego playroom and a cafe as well as a gift shop and outside is a great playground!

Beautiful place! The glass art gallery is stunning, and the restaurant feels sophisticated yet rustic with a gorgeous glass conservatory, it's just perfect❤️. I've been visiting Glasets Hus in Limmared almost every Sunday for coffee and cake or something savoury during my stay in Månstad, great vibe, great food and really genuinely lovely staff❤️ a special thank you to Munnalisa for the uplifting chat and information about my next destination ❤️

Limmareds Glasbruk. A large glass exhibition with glass from the 17th century.  Shop with glass, café in conservatory. Art exhibitions and conferences. Here, you can also enjoy Buffet lunch of the day. Many places to find a table either in the winter garden or in the entrance hall with it’s special atmosphere. The food was good and staff friend.

Great place. The instructors were very kind and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try it glass blowing. The food was also good.

We came here for the museum and stayed for tasty lunch. What more can you want. In the museum you can watch glass artists while they are forming the molten glass into art. Nearby was a museum with changing collections. At our visit it had playing cards collections, which we found quite interesting.

To be honest disapointed. Though open till 8 on saturday the food stops at 4 & all the antique shops were closed. Perhaps another time we passed on the cycle trail & will pass again on our return north.

Interesting exhibition, good restaurant, fair prices.

Awesome. Lunch was great. The kids enjoyed the glas blowing show and the Lego room. The playground outside is one of the best we have ever seen.

The whole area is amazing. The building is a part of Swedish history. There's a restaurant, or if you want, you can bring something on your own and sit in different parts of the area. If you pass Torpa stenhus, you will reach amazing forests and lakes all around where it's possible to sit and just enjoy the beauty of nature.

Gorgeous historical building with a small seperate museum. The lady guiding us around was excellent! Small minus: the stone house and the museum are ticketed separately and tickets can be bought only by Swish or you can pay by card at the restaurant but there is no info regarding this. A minus if you’re coming from abroad where the payment system Swish doesn’t exist. But well worth visiting regardless 😊

This place was recommended by some friends who live in Boras and I'm so glad we came, it's like walking back in time and the guided tour was wonderful( just a heads up it's in swedish) I would definitely recommend if your planning a trip to Sweden 🇸🇪

Very interesting castle, it's amazing how well preserved it is. Staff is very friendly. The only slight inconvenience is that english guide is available only at 11am on the weekends, but an english guide book is provided, which is great - I would advice to have around 2 hours to explore the castle and read historical references. Bonus point surroundings are very beautiful.
Alina P — Google review
Very old building but well preserved. Plenty of parking available, there is a public toilet available outside close to the parking.
Wachira L — Google review
AMAZING!! I went in without a tour but a info folder that was handed to me. Mind blown! This castle that looks fairly square on the outside has many layers inside and ’in between’ areas, a dungeon (of course) and so many stone stairways. It’s like stepping back into time. You can just imagine being there back then. Great information on history and persons in every room. Go and soak up the atmosphere!! Ps: I noticed this really nice, peculiar odour throughout the castle, from top levels to the dungeon. Very consistent, no ’hotspots’ of this nice subtle smell. I asked the lady at the front outside desk what it was assuming they had placed the scent but she had never noticed. If anyone knows what it is, please respond to this. I want it in my house! Also a nice café just next to Stenhus and toilets. Enjoy!

Very beautiful castle with quite the story. They even offer guide books in english and german. Can only recommend it, the tivket price is very fair. :)

We took the English tour and were absolutely impressed. Coming from a region in Germany full of castles, we had high expectations and this one met them in every way. The guide was fantastic, full of fascinating details throughout the tour. Afterwards you can explore on your own, wander the grounds and take beautiful photos. What made it even better: our guide stuck around at the entrance to share extra tips about what to see next in the area. Highly recommended for anyone who loves history and stunning sites!

Borås Zoo is home to 65 species, featuring naturalistic enclosures for African savannah beasts and Nordic animals. The zoo offers a diverse range of wildlife from different regions. It's a great place to observe and learn about various species in well-designed habitats. Whether you're interested in the majestic creatures of the African savannah or the unique animals native to Nordic regions, Borås Zoo provides an opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures up close.
It's amazing to see some animals I haven't seen since I last was in Kenya, and some new ones. Get up-close to elephants, giraffes, bears. It's really nice. Be prepared to walk though. A nice, lovely Sunday afternoon walk viewing the wildlife.
Simon N — Google review
Borås Zoo is a charming and intimate destination, ideal for families with young children. Despite its smaller size compared to Kolmården Zoo, it offers a well-curated selection of animals and a family-friendly layout that allows for easy exploration without being overwhelming. While there are fewer scheduled activities like feeding times, the zoo compensates with its relaxed atmosphere and the engaging nearby dinosaur park, which features life-sized replicas that captivate young visitors. Convenient paid parking is available, enhancing accessibility. Overall, Borås Zoo, with its manageable size and additional attractions, makes for a delightful and worthwhile day trip.

Great zoo, especially the Savannah part. Good idea to bring some fika or light lunch.

Really nice place for kids. Positives - clean, quiete, organized Must improve - Cheaper eateries, direct buses to zoo from gothenburg (give that option to those who are booking zoo tickets)2
Sunish S — Google review
The zoo is very well maintained, and the exhibits are close together, so it was easy to get around with the kids and see a lot without long walks. During summer, plan extra time for the children’s fountain area and bring swimwear.

Absolutely stunning zoo - make sure to visit when you are in the Gothenburg area as it is not a far drive and totally worth it! The areas for the animals are huge and provide a great view on all the animals! Additionally, there are many areas for kids such as playgrounds and a driving arena!

The Navet Science Center is an engaging destination for inquisitive young minds, offering hands-on exploration of technology, mathematics, and science concepts. Visitors can expect a variety of fun options for the whole family, with interactive exhibits that cater to kids of all ages and adults. The center provides a safe and enjoyable atmosphere where kids can freely engage in activities while grown-ups have the option to relax or work in designated areas.
Interesting visit, especially for children. The workshop on waste from human activity is particularly suitable for educating young people.

We -2 adults and 1 20 year old- visited this science center as a break in our travel and although it is more geared to elementary school aged children (and younger) we had a blast. It's all very hands on, very educational and fun. Great achievement.

What a great place for curious kids and grown ups. Lots of hands on activities. Great atmosphere in the second floor. Not too crowded when we were there mid july. You can bring your own food... actually you might want ro do that since the cafe didnt serve when we were there... There is also possibility to let the kids go crazy and grown up to sit and work in the eating zone. Felt the place was very safe. Great over all experience.

They had a lot more fun to do than expected and for the price it is more than worth the money! Also, we had 2 hours to everything. You will need at least half the day to have time for all the fun they offer!

Sightseeing Tours
Wonderful trip and at the end there was a very good place to picnic (or go to a café) and swim in the lake in Gräfsnäs. Good tourist information, nice staff, and you get a lot of access to all the old steam train things.
Julia K — Google review
Old trains to see for those who like mechanical museums. Unfortunately there was no information about when the place is open beside the train schedule. We were there after the season when train goes so it was closed, but we could go a bit around anyway. There were more people there who also wish to see the place so seems that not only we were confused about if it’s open or not.
Aleksandra P — Google review
Very nice trip with an old locomotive. We did this with a group of Familys and we all had fun. Gräfsnäs is a wonderful place also. A big playground with a lakeview. And a tiny beach to jump in the water. Price is ok also.
Hilde W — Google review
Great place to visit. Make sure to check the website for "traffic days" in the diary as those days marked indicate days when you can travel either by old fashion electric train bus or a proper old steam train. The rail yard sports also a small museum hall and ice cream cafe. Toilets are also available as well as suitable for the disabled. Riding the train might be difficult for wheelchair bound so make sure to call ahead. Tickets are sold on a come first basis so ensure to arrive well in time of departure as the trains are very popular. This goes to finding parking spaces as well which can be challenging at times. But nonetheless a day out well worth doing for the whole family!
Maria A — Google review
Taking the old stream train from Anten to Gräfsnäs is definitely a trip that you will never forget. The train stops once during the journey to show how water is added. In the end of the journey, you can see how the locomotive changes direction. Very educational. It is quite popular in summer. Try to get there a bit earlier than the scheduled time in order to guarantee the tickets.
Lei Z — Google review

Tjolöholm Castle

Castle
Nature & Parks
English-style castle in early 20th-century decor, with landscaped park & gardens, plus guestrooms.
Castle Visit (Not Stay) I am lucky I visited this castle and took a guided tour. The entire premises (Entrance/parking/gardens/Cafes/The Castle itself) are well maintained. The castle is in excellent shape and very elegant. Just imagining what the original residents must have felt to stay here. The guided tour is nice. Gives quick insights into the castle history. There is a nice beach behind the castle. In a summer, families can arrange a one day picnic to this place. Tourists should allocate around 3-4 hours to visit the place in its entireity. Tickets can be purchased on site. There is not much rush.
Eshant S — Google review
Visited from a cruise ship while docked in Gothenburg. Firstly it is not a hotel but a visitor attraction and museum. It took us around 30 mins on the coach to arrive at the castle but it is well worth the drive. It is now a museum as such and is very well maintained. We had a guided tour and the history was explained very well from the castles conception to the family that built it (actually a Scotsman). What I liked most was that while it is a museum walking around it still felt lived in and quite homely to me which added to its attraction. All the original artefacts and fittings are still on display and there is plenty to see. There is some great views from the windows and the gardens are well maintained. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour and I would consider it a must see attraction when visiting Gothenburg. You can get afternoon tea if you wish but unfortunately we did not have the time for that.

Took 3 hours to walk around the castle and gardens. Beautiful and not that crowded. Ate baked potato to lunch at the cafe. Perfect stop on our road trip.

Right. So you get to Tjolöholm. And of course, being in Scandinavia, it's a few minutes past 5 pm, so the doors are all locked. Perfectly predictable, isn't it? A bit of a shame, but as it turns out, it really doesn't matter. Even from the outside, the place is just brilliant. My word, it's a magnificent, imposing building that looks like something out of a film. And the location? A proper triumph. Perched right there, overlooking the water. It's utterly stunning and perfectly placed. It proves that a place can be brilliant even if you can’t get inside. It makes you feel genuinely happy for the person who lived there. A proper, lucky soul.
Maciej K — Google review
Didn't stay at the caste just visited one afternoon. The garden is beautiful and it's very romantic to walk around the building and down to the shore. Makes you feel like royalty.

Just a super beautiful place at an amazing location. If you have an extended trip to Göteborg, then you must stay here too!
Nicky — Google review
I love visiting Tjolöholm castle, although its more like a stately home. You'd never imagine this place in Sweden, its more befitting to a victorian family in England. Not surprising as it was built as a tribute to a Scottish business man by his widow. Lots of interesting rooms to visit. It's changed since I first visited 30 years ago. Definitely worth a visit. Great cafe on-site! Car park could be closer. My sister struggled to walk to the home due to recovery from surgery but persisted.

Skansen Kronan is a historic hilltop fortress in Gothenburg, built in 1697 to defend against Danish invasions. Over the years, it has served as a prison and military museum but now houses a restaurant and conference center. The adjacent former army barracks features a seasonal café with stunning views over the city and harbor. Despite the challenging hike to reach the top, visitors are rewarded with a 360-degree panoramic view of Gothenburg.
🏰🌆 Skansen Kronan – A Lovely Sunday Evening Stop Visiting Skansen Kronan in Gothenburg was such a pleasant way to spend a Sunday evening. The walk up to the top is a bit of a winding snake 🐍 of a climb, but once you're there, the view over the city is absolutely worth it 🌇 The kids especially loved climbing on the old cannons, while we adults enjoyed admiring the building and taking a well-earned rest at the top 🛋️. The atmosphere was peaceful and the history wrapped in stone felt almost timeless. Highly recommended if you're looking for a calm little outing on a Sunday evening – with just the right mix of effort, views, and charm ✨📸

The perfect place to enjoy Gothenburg from above. The city view is so stunning from Skansen Kronan. There are two ways to go upstairs. The other one is a bit difficult but still doable. If there is toilet in the area, it would be helpful. When we were there, the toilet was closed (I don’t know maybe because of the renovation). Don’t forget to come to Skansen Krona if you are in Gothenburg.
Deny L — Google review
A very nice place with a beautiful view of Gothenburg. Just be careful, especially if you’re a woman, as there are quite a few engineers and doctors around.
Dobrica I — Google review
One of the most beautiful places in Göteborg, definitely a must see. The building is in great shape having being restored. Superb views over the city. Little outdoor type restaurant onsite.
Stanislas T — Google review
There are 2 entries. 1 has a very steep winding path, the other has a steep driveway. The driveway walk is much quicker! If you can, walk up the driveway and down the winding path.
Erin H — Google review
Great city views from the hill the castle is built on. Our walking tour guide recommended taking the walking path up in lieu of the stairs - she said they can be quite narrow and not room to stop. The walking path can be quite steep (>10% grade) but there are maps at the entrances which show how to avoid the steepest parts. I liked the cannons at the top! Hard to imagine how they got brought up in the days before motors!
David W — Google review
We saw the steps, barricaded at the bottom to stop access, being used regardless of this. So we decided to go round the barricade and walk up to the top. Unfortunately the redoubt is closed due to renovations taking place. The views of the city and surrounds are somewhat blocked by trees but still worth the exertion.
Andy B — Google review
If not for the castle you should go for the view. The view of the Gothenburg city from the top is amazing. From Centralstationen take tram 1 (Ostra) and get off at Prinsgatan station. 10 minutes walk from there. Don't forget to walk around the Haga city after visiting the castle.
