Rooms were small and we got a room with no view despite the place being entirely empty they could have given us a room with the green field view. No air conditioner and had to ask for a fan which was not already provided. Food was good especially breakfast. Pools were ok but the pool outside could be a bit colder given that is was summer. Overall expensive and nothing more than ok.

We became aware to this Älgpark due to all the positive reviews here and we can absolutely confirm these. This Älgpark is different than other ones, as there are not only moose, but also red deer and fallow deer to see. You are sitting in a trailor and are getting driven through the park by the owners. Once the animals can be seen, they stop and explain interesting facts about the animals you see and give you time to take pictures. For foreigners they offer the explanations in English and German, which is very cool. After the safari, there is still plenty of time to buy some souvenirs in the house boutique that reminds you of this unforgettable experience.

The hike took less than an hour, but it was absolutely worth it. Stunning nature, peaceful surroundings, and the perfect way to stretch our legs during the trip. Highly recommend this short but rewarding walk if you’re in the area!

I have been visiting all Swedish national parks this one I have pased by 100+ time but it come out 27out of 30 to visit and oh men this was just incredible. I went there early morning to get sunrise and it’s in my top 3 Swedish national parks it is so gorgeous. Hike is very easy it’s only flat. But the view you get in early morning is incredible beautiful. Must visit place if in area. Or even if you are not in are it’s so worth the visit. Easy to park and hike is just beautiful.

Arranged a visit and met with with one of the park employees to explore and discuss the formation of the park and the plants located within it. We took a lot away from our visit this way and would recommend trying to do this if you can.

Very beautiful walk through the National Park, with several nice viewpoints. We took the long route, whitch should be 12 km long but in reality it was almost 15 km. Tough path to walk for children or people with mobility-problems. Slippery when wet.

I visited my daughter in Sweden and this is where they took me , loved it was great fun , a live stunt show and the line dancing was hilarious, the instructor was so funny , well worth a visit , lots to do also for children, it would easily fill your day

Wow, what a place to spend a day at. Worth spending a full day there.. Kids and adults liked it a lot. However, when we took the train, an amazing cinematic scene was done by the crew, but some of the kids got scared. It looked so real to them. A great selection of food with reasonable prices. Parking is paid

Place is a must visit for both adults and kids. Plan the visit as per shows timings. There are few rides on payment basis like train ride etc. Restaurants also available inside premises.

The shows are great, there are some nice restaurants. That are not overpriced so plus for that. The toy guns, hats and belts are not overpriced in the kids section. Before I come to the cons I understand that theme parks have to make money to pay for staff, maintenance and so on. But it's a bit pricey. 399kr for entry, 60kr for riding the train every singel time per person, 30kr to rent gold wash pan (you get a fake gold coin at the end so that is that). The bathrooms vary but the ones in the museum was not great and had the worse smell of sewer. Overall it's Okey, go for the shows.

Fantastic place to take the kids (both big and small!! 😉). Wonderful shows that don't take all afternoon (max 25 mins), stunts, singing and generally enjoyable. Shows are performed in Swedish (to be expected!) But it's OK not understanding the language as the acting makes up for it. The actors who come out to meet you after the shows do speak English as well and are all up for photos being taken. We paid extra for a second day (worth it!) As we didn't make it around for everything the first day. We went during 1 of the fellesferie weeks which meant it was really busy but we still hot to do everything and see everything so no complaints from us.

Very cool park. The interactive plays are very cool for the kids. It's a shame that the train ride costs extra; the tickets to get in the park are expensive enough, but the ride was very cool.

This Museum was one of our Highlights this summer so far. Very good visitor reception, beautiful info material and many things to really do active. Very reasonable value for money, not as for example the saab museum which is expensive and offers nearly no visitor guidance. VerY recommended, you can stay here with your RV and take a bath in the lake.

A historic reenactment Park, Stone age to iron age. There are many exhibits, and you can participate in paddling, archery toolmaking etc. There is also a shop and a good café/lunchrestaurant. Not very crowded at our visit.

Knew this place existed, but being 'local' I've never been. Exceded expectations though! Went with my 7 and 10 yo, and they LOVED it! Great surroundings, activities and personnell. Will definately revisit!

Expensive cabins, the ones where animals are allowed you pay extra costs on top for the animals and then we should put our animals into a cage if we are not at home!!! Even if you are only skiing for two hours. It is not allowed that the animals sit on the sofa, beds or armchairs. In my opinion, absolutely absurd, anti-animal and anti-customer.

On our way back last Sunday, after staying at High Chaparral, we made a stop at Isaberg Mountain Resort and had a great time riding the rodel track is a thrilling experience that added a fun dose of adrenaline to our trip. The resort is full of exciting, well maintained outdoor activities and challenges, making it a perfect destination for active families. From mountain biking and tree-top adventures to canoeing and hiking, there’s something for everyone here. The atmosphere is lively yet surrounded by beautiful nature, and the first hour of parking is free, which makes short visits even more convenient.

Absolutely amazing. So many fun things to do, good good, good service. Highly recommend the high ropes tree tops course. Mini golf also looked great. Food was delicious too! Worth a visit at the minimum , but I'd honestly stay a night or two!

Better than expected. My girlfriend and I camped in a tent. Really appreciated the stuga right by the tent area. Everything seamed clean and well maintained. We downhill MTB'd for a couple days, hit the freeride park, tuboggen ride, mini golfed, rented a canoe, swam and trail ran. Breakfast buffet was great and a worthy addition for us. Could spend a week here, with some xc biking and a round of golf. Cool spot for active couples and families. Even a outdoor gym. Reasonable prices too. Allt möjligt!

Wonderful vacation spot. We were here during the summer and spent a week in a cabin. The lake is beautiful and basecamp offers more activities than we could do during our stay. Hiking, climbing, mountainbiking, etc. Bikes, canoes etc are for rent. It's all quite expensive but equipment is well taken care off and staff is very kind and helpful. Also the playground is lots of fun and our children (5 and 9) spent a lot of time there. And the climbing forest is a real challenge. The cabin was small but fine, clean and had everything we needed. It's good to be aware that it's on a busy road and there's lots of people coming for the day as well, so if you're looking for quiet time, you might want to stay somewhere else.

Very good Bikepark for advanced bikes. Good variation of trails, lot of signal trails and the lift with the easy loop system, easy and fast! U can do a lot of laps in one day! Very nice staff

Nice bikepark in the summer. Has only 2 trails, but they are very long. One ist good for beginners, a very flowy line with lots of berms and a few side hits. The other one has rock slabs in it, reminiscent of Whistler trails. To recommend!

There isn’t many choices around west coast Sweden for an one-day skiing trip, Ulricehamns Ski Center is probably the best one. I forgot my skis outside the service center. When I went back there the day after, I found out that my skis are collected in a storage room along with other lost and found things. Very nice staffs working there.

Great place, nice and helpful staff. You can rent all the gear, there is a restaurant and restrooms. The longest slopes is around 500m so nothing huge but still the best thing in this area. Free parking.

Nice family ski-areal. Neither black nor red slope, but the blue one. But 2 or 3 km from Ulricehamn, what i great. There are also restaurant and a equipment rent office at bottom end of the slopes.

Limmareds Glasbruk. A large glass exhibition with glass from the 17th century.  Shop with glass, café in conservatory. Art exhibitions and conferences. Here, you can also enjoy Buffet lunch of the day. Many places to find a table either in the winter garden or in the entrance hall with it’s special atmosphere. The food was good and staff friend.

Great place. The instructors were very kind and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try it glass blowing. The food was also good.

We came here for the museum and stayed for tasty lunch. What more can you want. In the museum you can watch glass artists while they are forming the molten glass into art. Nearby was a museum with changing collections. At our visit it had playing cards collections, which we found quite interesting.

To be honest disapointed. Though open till 8 on saturday the food stops at 4 & all the antique shops were closed. Perhaps another time we passed on the cycle trail & will pass again on our return north.

Gorgeous historical building with a small seperate museum. The lady guiding us around was excellent! Small minus: the stone house and the museum are ticketed separately and tickets can be bought only by Swish or you can pay by card at the restaurant but there is no info regarding this. A minus if you’re coming from abroad where the payment system Swish doesn’t exist. But well worth visiting regardless 😊

This place was recommended by some friends who live in Boras and I'm so glad we came, it's like walking back in time and the guided tour was wonderful( just a heads up it's in swedish) I would definitely recommend if your planning a trip to Sweden 🇸🇪

Very interesting castle, it's amazing how well preserved it is. Staff is very friendly.The only slight inconvenience is that english guide is available only at 11am on the weekends, but an english guide book is provided, which is great - I would advice to have around 2 hours to explore the castle and read historical references. Bonus point surroundings are very beautiful.

AMAZING!! I went in without a tour but a info folder that was handed to me. Mind blown! This castle that looks fairly square on the outside has many layers inside and ’in between’ areas, a dungeon (of course) and so many stone stairways. It’s like stepping back into time. You can just imagine being there back then. Great information on history and persons in every room. Go and soak up the atmosphere!! Ps: I noticed this really nice, peculiar odour throughout the castle, from top levels to the dungeon. Very consistent, no ’hotspots’ of this nice subtle smell. I asked the lady at the front outside desk what it was assuming they had placed the scent but she had never noticed. If anyone knows what it is, please respond to this. I want it in my house! Also a nice café just next to Stenhus and toilets. Enjoy!

We took the English tour and were absolutely impressed. Coming from a region in Germany full of castles, we had high expectations and this one met them in every way. The guide was fantastic, full of fascinating details throughout the tour. Afterwards you can explore on your own, wander the grounds and take beautiful photos. What made it even better: our guide stuck around at the entrance to share extra tips about what to see next in the area. Highly recommended for anyone who loves history and stunning sites!

The zoo is very well maintained, and the exhibits are close together, so it was easy to get around with the kids and see a lot without long walks. During summer, plan extra time for the children’s fountain area and bring swimwear.

Absolutely stunning zoo - make sure to visit when you are in the Gothenburg area as it is not a far drive and totally worth it! The areas for the animals are huge and provide a great view on all the animals! Additionally, there are many areas for kids such as playgrounds and a driving arena!

We -2 adults and 1 20 year old- visited this science center as a break in our travel and although it is more geared to elementary school aged children (and younger) we had a blast. It's all very hands on, very educational and fun. Great achievement.

What a great place for curious kids and grown ups. Lots of hands on activities. Great atmosphere in the second floor. Not too crowded when we were there mid july. You can bring your own food... actually you might want ro do that since the cafe didnt serve when we were there... There is also possibility to let the kids go crazy and grown up to sit and work in the eating zone. Felt the place was very safe. Great over all experience.

Very interesting exhibition on the history of textile industry and handicraft tradition of the region. Entrance fee is voluntary. A museum shop with really good, albeit not very many, authentic souvenirs and a small cafė. A very good restaurant across the road! Not enough information in English.

Old trains to see for those who like mechanical museums. Unfortunately there was no information about when the place is open beside the train schedule. We were there after the season when train goes so it was closed, but we could go a bit around anyway. There were more people there who also wish to see the place so seems that not only we were confused about if it’s open or not.

Very nice trip with an old locomotive. We did this with a group of Familys and we all had fun. Gräfsnäs is a wonderful place also. A big playground with a lakeview. And a tiny beach to jump in the water. Price is ok also.

Great place to visit. Make sure to check the website for "traffic days" in the diary as those days marked indicate days when you can travel either by old fashion electric train bus or a proper old steam train. The rail yard sports also a small museum hall and ice cream cafe. Toilets are also available as well as suitable for the disabled. Riding the train might be difficult for wheelchair bound so make sure to call ahead. Tickets are sold on a come first basis so ensure to arrive well in time of departure as the trains are very popular. This goes to finding parking spaces as well which can be challenging at times. But nonetheless a day out well worth doing for the whole family!

Taking the old stream train from Anten to Gräfsnäs is definitely a trip that you will never forget. The train stops once during the journey to show how water is added. In the end of the journey, you can see how the locomotive changes direction. Very educational. It is quite popular in summer. Try to get there a bit earlier than the scheduled time in order to guarantee the tickets.

We had a really nice hike and a bite after. We were able to park our bikes next to the info/ restaurant. There are maps available but the walks are clearly marked from there.

A very beautiful and peaceful sight.

Visited from a cruise ship while docked in Gothenburg. Firstly it is not a hotel but a visitor attraction and museum. It took us around 30 mins on the coach to arrive at the castle but it is well worth the drive. It is now a museum as such and is very well maintained. We had a guided tour and the history was explained very well from the castles conception to the family that built it (actually a Scotsman). What I liked most was that while it is a museum walking around it still felt lived in and quite homely to me which added to its attraction. All the original artefacts and fittings are still on display and there is plenty to see. There is some great views from the windows and the gardens are well maintained. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour and I would consider it a must see attraction when visiting Gothenburg. You can get afternoon tea if you wish but unfortunately we did not have the time for that.

Did not spend a night, just went on a guided tour of the castle and swam in the ocean. Guide was wonderful! Told us the history of the castle in a very inspirational manner

Took 3 hours to walk around the castle and gardens. Beautiful and not that crowded. Ate baked potato to lunch at the cafe. Perfect stop on our road trip.

Right. So you get to Tjolöholm. And of course, being in Scandinavia, it's a few minutes past 5 pm, so the doors are all locked. Perfectly predictable, isn't it? A bit of a shame, but as it turns out, it really doesn't matter. Even from the outside, the place is just brilliant. My word, it's a magnificent, imposing building that looks like something out of a film. And the location? A proper triumph. Perched right there, overlooking the water. It's utterly stunning and perfectly placed. It proves that a place can be brilliant even if you can’t get inside. It makes you feel genuinely happy for the person who lived there. A proper, lucky soul.

Didn't stay at the caste just visited one afternoon. The garden is beautiful and it's very romantic to walk around the building and down to the shore. Makes you feel like royalty.

I love visiting Tjolöholm castle, although its more like a stately home. You'd never imagine this place in Sweden, its more befitting to a victorian family in England. Not surprising as it was built as a tribute to a Scottish business man by his widow. Lots of interesting rooms to visit. It's changed since I first visited 30 years ago. Definitely worth a visit. Great cafe on-site! Car park could be closer. My sister struggled to walk to the home due to recovery from surgery but persisted.

The perfect place to enjoy Gothenburg from above. The city view is so stunning from Skansen Kronan. There are two ways to go upstairs. The other one is a bit difficult but still doable. If there is toilet in the area, it would be helpful. When we were there, the toilet was closed (I don’t know maybe because of the renovation). Don’t forget to come to Skansen Krona if you are in Gothenburg.

A very nice place with a beautiful view of Gothenburg. Just be careful, especially if you’re a woman, as there are quite a few engineers and doctors around.

One of the most beautiful places in Göteborg, definitely a must see. The building is in great shape having being restored. Superb views over the city. Little outdoor type restaurant onsite.

There are 2 entries. 1 has a very steep winding path, the other has a steep driveway. The driveway walk is much quicker! If you can, walk up the driveway and down the winding path.

Great city views from the hill the castle is built on. Our walking tour guide recommended taking the walking path up in lieu of the stairs - she said they can be quite narrow and not room to stop. The walking path can be quite steep (>10% grade) but there are maps at the entrances which show how to avoid the steepest parts. I liked the cannons at the top! Hard to imagine how they got brought up in the days before motors!

We saw the steps, barricaded at the bottom to stop access, being used regardless of this. So we decided to go round the barricade and walk up to the top. Unfortunately the redoubt is closed due to renovations taking place. The views of the city and surrounds are somewhat blocked by trees but still worth the exertion.

If not for the castle you should go for the view. The view of the Gothenburg city from the top is amazing. From Centralstationen take tram 1 (Ostra) and get off at Prinsgatan station. 10 minutes walk from there. Don't forget to walk around the Haga city after visiting the castle.
