Cafe
Schloss Bruck, located in Lienz, Austria, is a 13th-century fortress that houses the Museum der Stadt Lienz. The museum was established by the renowned Austrian artist Albin Egger-Lienz and is situated on a picturesque hill just outside the city center. Visitors can enjoy sweeping 360-degree views of the valley and town from its tower. The museum features temporary art exhibitions unrelated to the castle's history, including sculptures and paintings by Egger-Lienz.
Morning visit only outside, free parking near the castle.
Binebre S — Google review
The castle is located on a nice hill just outside the city centre of Lienz. From the top you can enjoy a 360 degrees view of the valley and of the town. The castle is really nice and its main purpose is to host temporary art expositions which are not related to the castle. I would have liked more a deeper focus on the history of the castle, about which you can find only 3 or 4 dedicated billboards.
Alberto P — Google review
The museum is pretty as well as the place and location, but at the time we came it was pretty empty. All the upper part of the castle (tower) was empty. But the tariffs are pretty reasonable and affordable. Amazing landscapes from the tower.
Elliot L — Google review
Very nice, tranquil place to stop-by, once you want to relax and make "a break" from hills and mountains. Unfortunately, the museum operates only from May. However, surrounding park is worth to visit as well.
Martin V — Google review
Great castle and museum at the outskirts of Lienz, at a nice and tranquil hill about 100m above town. Houses sculpture hall and painting collection, including some works of Egger-Lienz. Museum store sells nice mountain and landscape books about Osttirol.
Rupert17 — Google review
Beautiful castle with a really nice park. I love the lake! We go there often. You can see fish and ducks. I've never been inside the castle though. So, cannot rate that.
Tetyana P — Google review
Very nice and well maintained castle. I did not visited it inside but already park outside and castle it self looks great
Ales K — Google review
It houses an extensive collection of Albin Egger-Lienz's works. So, if you are a fan of his work, it is a must-see. The views from the top of the tower are an added bonus!

Lienzer Bergbahnen -Osttirodler - Sommerrodelbahn - Hochstein

Summer toboggan run
Sights & Landmarks
Lienzer Bergbahnen - Hochstein offers great value with its ticket prices, which include a ride on the cable car or chair lift up and a thrilling coaster ride down. There are various packages available for multiple rides as well. The 2.7km long coaster provides an exhilarating experience, starting at a height that surprises riders taking the cable car up. Visitors appreciate the smooth and fast ride, especially considering the reasonable ticket price that includes the lift.
I really recommend this place. Firstly we went on the top and saw some zoo and zip line, but we wanted more and decided to go up 1000 m for another mountain. It was amazing. We spent 16€ for both tickets and it is really cool. On the top we found lake, we could swim there but we didn’t have a swim suit. We spoke to cows 🐄 and tried to fit them. Views were beautiful. I didn’t want to go down and didn’t expect how amazing on the highest top. I even cried because it was really emotional. After that we used children small cars and it is funny. I recommend this place to visit definitely 💯
Лидия П — Google review
Beautiful area. Mountain not to high. Nice place to walk. Nice local food.
Riekelt P — Google review
EXPENSIVE Lack of information & and signs The whole green area is "PRIVATE". ridiculous, dumbness, madness, The Sommerrodelbahn is the best part
H P — Google review
What a buzz, super fast, don't use the brakes, just let it go. Had a ball, my second visit, just as good as the first. If you are in the vicinity, its worth a trip. €13 for a "run", but it goes for around 2 to 3 kms of track. Well worth it. Go during the week, weekends would be very busy.
Steve S — Google review
Be warned stupid guys operate the bergbahn. They hit the brake repeatedly while gondola and chairs are midair. Those things swing dangerously 100m above ground after their fun with the brake button. And when you arrive shaking like leave they just say it is normal....It is not normal to play with other peoples lives.
Mathilde A — Google review
This is the biggest steal ever! We paid 80 euro's for two adults and 2 kids. We were behind someone who was scared so we we had to slow down all the time and had a very slow and stupid ride. When we complaint at the ticket point the women wasn't taking our complaint serious and said that it is our own risk while we do this in summer holiday when it is busy. Big fail! Shame on you!
Roy T — Google review
There are so many activities to do there. Go up with the cable car, and there are multiple things to do for kids. Petting zoo, playground, climbing forest. Or take the second lift to the top with gorgeous scenery of the valley! If you come in early summer there are so many flowers in bloom! And if you go down, take the roddelbahn down to the start. It's included in the price. The prices are very reasonable! Highly recommended!
Job G — Google review
It is one of the best summer coaster , the only concern is the guy with beard down in the cable car is very not polite and rough to deal with him

Summer toboggan run

Alpine Coaster Kaprun is a family-friendly mountain resort offering year-round entertainment, including the Maisiflitzer Alpine Coaster. This thrilling 1.3 km track allows riders to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h as they race down towards the valley, encountering bridges, waves, jumps, and banked loops along the way. The coaster provides an adrenaline rush for both kids and adults.
It is very nice. I recommend on doing part of the trip by foot and go back with the carts. The self drive carts are short but nice experience for the kids!
Adi D — Google review
The track feels very repetitive, with the same style and a series of similar turns. I find it extremely overpriced, and I don’t think it’s fair that the fee is charged per person rather than per sled
Péter S — Google review
Its an amazing experience i highly recommend if you have summer card its not included you have to pay 15 euros for adults
Najiba A — Google review
Beautiful experience in Katrina and Zell am see Different experience for children
SEFIAN A — Google review
Maisi Flitzer is an exciting alpine coaster in Kaprun that’s fun for both kids and adults. The ride takes you down the mountain on a twisting track with beautiful views all around. You can control your own speed, so it’s as thrilling or relaxing as you want it to be. It’s safe, well-organized, and a fantastic activity to add some adrenaline to your trip. Great for families or groups of friends.
Our_discoveries5 — Google review
Very cool and great fun The very big downside is that distances between cars are not controlled and dependant on the rider, but with kids this can be a big risk They automatically take a photo of you during the ride and then u can get it printed out for 6 Euro. The picture has your speed as well :) There are some slides next to it which are fun but too expensive to be for a 1 Euro each time
Majed E — Google review
One of the best activities in Kaprun. We went through the cables cars to the top of the mountain. Amazing views over there. Included in the Kaprun Zell am See Summer Card.
Seraj A — Google review
Good fun, if you’re looking for something else to do besides skiing. It is however a little expensive for the time that it takes to get up and down….the trip up actually taking longer than the trip down. Can imagine that’s a great option in summer when there is no snow.

Water & Amusement Parks
Freizeitpark Ruhpolding is a one-of-a-kind amusement park nestled in the heart of a forest. It offers an array of activities that cater to both young and older kids, such as rope gardens, water slides, bag slides, and even a crystal mine. The park also features small animatronic houses that tell stories and a roller coaster for added excitement. While it may be more appealing to younger children, older kids can still find enjoyment in the park's nature-focused rides.
Such a unique, beautiful and fun park! In the heart of the forest, so many things to see and do, perfect for younger and older kids. The only thing to note is that the climb to the park is very steep and could be difficult for younger children or grandparents.
Shira S — Google review
I had an amazing day at Freizeitpark Ruhpolding 🎢🌲. The park is beautifully located in the middle of the forest, offering fresh air and stunning views. There’s a wide range of rides: interactive and gentle ones for kids, and more thrilling ones for adults like roller coasters and giant slides. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The park is very well-organized, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are also plenty of seating and dining areas, which makes it very comfortable for families. The ticket price is reasonable compared to the variety of activities and fun offered. Overall, this place combines adventure, fun, and nature, and I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area. 🌟
Our_discoveries5 — Google review
One of the best family theme parks I've been to. They've given the park design serious thought and made good use of the hill layout. There was plenty for the kids to explore, touch and interact with. The toilets were also super clean and in excellent condition. I can only recommend families with smaller (pre-teen) kids to visit.
Steven M — Google review
Exceptional experience! We came with a 3.5 and a 6.5 years old kids and we had a lot of fun!
Shelly H — Google review
It's a little bit dark for young kids, some attractions seams to be from a scary movie. It's nice, but not sure if kids will have good memories or nightmares. For adults, attractions are boring, for kids scary, hard to say.
Jaime A — Google review
Unique and close to nature. It's literally in the woods at the foot of a mountain. Mostly designed with natural materials, not much plastic. Very well done. The food is mediocre and a bit expensive, but you can bring your own if you want. There are plenty of sitting opportunities and tables (also mostly made of wood). You can spend money for some extras inside, but you don't have to. Great, unique theme park you can easily spend the entire day. You won't find this anywhere else.
Alexander E — Google review
It’s such a beautiful place, up in the hills of a forest, full of enchanting folktales and play equipment. Very adapt to children’s needs, even the toilets are little! A lot of space for picnics and resting and a cafe and restaurant, very convenient and relaxed. Definitely recommended and looking forward to our next visit with our 6 year old!
Jenn V — Google review
Amazing fun Park for the whole family... One can easily spend the whole day there. My daughter loved it, so did Oma, Opa and our dog was also allowed in. Restaurant food and prices were very reasonable. The detail in all the entertainment and rides were amazing. Being in the middle of forest also shaded us from a 30 degree day. Well be back next year for sure

Vötter's Fahrzeugmuseum is a small but fascinating showcase of over 200 vehicles and motorbikes, mainly from the 1950s to the 1970s. The exhibition area covers 1000 square meters and features an impressive array of cars, motorcycles, tractors, military vehicles, and even a train and cable car. Visitors can also experience driving the world's largest snowmobile at speeds of up to 50 km per hour.
Imagine a well maintained lovingly tended museum with classic cars and bikes and tractors and all classes of automobiles from the dawn of the automobile era to the modern day with a wide range of vehicles from across the world. Just fantastic for kids and automobile lovers and geeks. It’s worthy of spending half a day here. Rich descriptions and the vehicles are so well maintained even the Trabants and Ladas - if you ever want to understand the difference in manufacturing quality in Germany and inside the Iron Curtain here are vivid examples. Fabulous views of the Alps. Extremely small museum given the large number of vehicles. A must visit if you are visiting Zell am See.

The amount of classic cars to see was not much. Some were alright, but most of the cars were plain. It did not really made the entrance price of nearly 10 euro worth.

Rauschberg is a 1,671-meter mountain in Germany that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Alps. Visitors can easily access the summit via a cable car, where they can enjoy the stunning scenery and explore easy walking trails. The area also features cozy mountain restaurants and opportunities for hiking. The journey to the top on the gondola provides an exhilarating experience as it ascends along the rocks.
Cable car up to top. Great area to walk around and see the views!!! Great food at top!
Jon S — Google review
Some info for those wanting to climb this moutain. The cable car is closed and they are building a new one to replace it (in theory). Currently no work has started so who knows when it will be. The bar/restaurant at the top are therefore also closed. If you want to hike up to the top: we took 2h10 to go up at an (above) average pace and doing some small mistakes/side wandering. To go down we took 1h20. So in total we did 14km, 900+ and took 3h30. Note that the indicative panels indicate 3h30 to go up only. If you follow the main path, it is very clearly marked and very « easy ». It is a well maintained and wide path. The only difficulty is the distance and gradient (7km one way, 1000m d+) but that’s up to your fitness. We started from Aschenau. To sum it up: no cable car. Go by foot. 7km one way. Ps: there is a danger sign , if you don’t speak German, no worries it is about being careful with your dogs. Some animals might have babies and be protective.

(Translated by Google) Very nice as a half day trip. When the weather is nice you have a great view from Lake Chiemsee to the main ridge of the Alps. We have been up there many times, also because travel is free with the Chiemgau card. The steep journey with the gondola along the rocks is also an experience. At the top there is a viewing platform right next to the station. We also recommend hiking for 20 minutes to the actual summit.

Beautiful resort, great well maintained runs, views were incredible. The restaurant at the top is well stocked and easy to use with a fantastic tarasse you can admire the view from whilst enjoying your lunch. Can recommend last week of Jan as the queues were practically non existent so you could ski loads, hence 67.00 EUR became value for money 😅

Ok for a day. Small skiing resort, expensive 66€, with gopass 58, but got some bad app during registration, that tried to take money from my card, be aware. We had cloudy weather, otherwise is quite good freeride, when there's snow...

Great place to ski but so so for me since I went for sight view. Recommend to go around January for better ski experience
Zaito — Google review
-Train starts from this location. Took the train and gondola up to the peak at the end of June, there was still snow however it was cloudy and foggy at times But still got to see some amazing views! the train as standard not a bad experience. The gondola Cars are small and the windows are really scratched so viewing the area from them is difficult which was disappointing. I still highly recommend it but can be a bit expensive.

Raggaschlucht is a stunning natural attraction featuring a mountainside waterfall cascading through a narrow rocky canyon. Visitors can explore the gorge via wooden walkways, offering breathtaking views of the rushing water, waterfalls, and polished walls. The walk is relatively short, around 800m long with an ascent of 200m, making it suitable for families and those seeking a less strenuous adventure. Educational signposts along the way provide valuable insights into the area's natural features.
A truly wonderful place. The views are just stunning, there are some information boards along the way with interesting scientific facts about the gorge. It takes about 90 minutes for the return journey. Do wear good boots, as there are some steep climbs (and descents). It's possible to buy the tickets online, but there is no advantage really as you still need to wait in line to have the QR code scanned at the ticket office.
Paweł C — Google review
What a wonderfull place! Takes 15 minutes from the parking lot to reach the entrance. A small souvenir shop with a LOVELY Anita, who takes care of the returning wonderers. The gorge is reasonably manageble for those, who like to hike. Safe trail, charming waterfalls and roaring rock-steps. I strongly recommend everybody, who has legs and healthy heart. ;)
Róbert K — Google review
Hiking trail - nature. A 3.4 km trail (I think a little less) The trail takes about two hours plus (depending on the number of visitors) Amazing wild nature A very comfortable trail on wooden bridges. There is parking until the start of the trail and then about a 15-minute walk up a fairly steep hill to the entrance counter. Fee for 2+2 about 30 euros. Then the trail begins with a lot of water and a low temperature (outside was 17 degrees, on the trail about 12 degrees). Good walking shoes are recommended, there are slippery places and also with mud. The trail passes over wooden bridges and a lot of stairs (climbing), amazing views and lots of places to stop for photos. At the end of the trail, you return to the starting points on a difficult descent of about 30 minutes.
Sharon F — Google review
Beautiful place, we went first thing in the morning waiting a bit for them to open so we were there alone but when we finish lots of people were already behind us. It is a popular place. Walk is wet from water so take a proper shoes and be careful.
Noxee R — Google review
What an incredible experience! My hike at Raggaschlucht was unforgettable. According to my activity tracker, I covered 2.60 miles with an elevation gain of 1,197 ft in 58 minutes and 54 seconds. Parking was free, but as you follow the signs up, you'll encounter a ticket office with restrooms and a souvenir shop housed in containers. The signage is excellent, so you can't miss it. Entry is €9 per person, and it's absolutely worth it to witness the spectacular gorge. The wooden boardwalks are impressively sturdy, yet it's truly astounding how they've been constructed along such towering rock faces. With the recent rain, the waterfalls were powerful and the water flow incredibly strong, making for an even more dramatic sight. Austria has many beautiful gorges, but each has its own unique character, and Raggaschlucht is certainly no exception – it was truly wondrous! The restrooms were clean and free to use, which is always a plus. Do note that the hiking trail is one-way only. The return downhill is quite steep, so if you have knee concerns, a pair of foldable hiking poles would be invaluable for the descent. This geological trail also offers fascinating insights into the region's history, from the swift incision of the gorge by water and ice to the ancient rock movements and the formation of the Alps millions of years ago. It's a fantastic blend of natural beauty and geological education. Highly recommend adding this to your Austrian itinerary!

Incredible place! We went before 10am and there were not a lot of people, when we were coming out it was a lot busier. Car park is on street level and there’s a steep walk to the entrance of the place, then of course quite some steps uphill at the gorge but totally doable with the right shoes and clothes (saw some people walking up from parking wearing long skirts and not sure how they managed it but shorts/trousers are more recommended). The wall back through the forest is beautiful as well with stunning views but also quite steep so be prepared as you can’t walk fast.

A beautiful hike through the Raggaschlucht in September! We were there early in the morning and had plenty of time to explore. Good/hike footwear is recommended, as it can be a bit slippery. It's not recommended for small children or dogs, as the noise can be quite loud! We experienced this with our dog; he was a bit nervous at some parts during the hike. But we made it, and it was definitely worth it!

Absolutely stunning! Well maintained and there’s interesting information about the Schlucht and its formation! The walk up was really do able, the last part is a steep way down so be careful. I would recommend wearing sturdy shoes or boots that have grip, it can get quite slippery. We arrived at 10:00 and there was barely anyone, however when we walked back to the car at 11:30 it was extremely busy. So make sure you’re on time if you want a unique and quiet experience :)

Untersberg, a majestic massif straddling the German-Austrian border, offers an unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts. The Untersberg cable car provides a thrilling journey from the base station near Grodig to the mountain's summit. The panoramic views from the cable car showcase the breathtaking Alps, Salzburg, and even parts of Bavaria on clear days. For those who prefer not to hike extensively, this is an ideal option as it swiftly transports visitors almost to the top.
We took a public Bus 25 and ended straight in front of the Mountain cable car (Untersbergbahn GmbH). You can buy the cable car ticket from their office counter on the day itself. Beautiful scenic view on its way up. Price €34 There are Restaurants for you to chill and enjoy the panorama of Austria and Germany. Plus you can either do a short trek or a long trek and it’s up to individual. There are ravens flying around. They looked pretty hungry, just be ware of your food. Lolx The best panorama views I had seen so far in my trip.

Climbed October 10. Weather was quite bad but we could tell it is a really nice mountain. If it's rainy watch your step since it can get slippery. It is not that long of a hike anyway. We made the ascent in 3hrs 20 mins and we are of average fitness
Mac — Google review
A must see and do in Salzburg. The cable car to the top is quite amazing. But what you do there is up to you. There are trails for the intrepid to come up on their own steam and you will have lots of company. Don’t forget your hiking boots and sticks. And check the weather- it might be better to be flexible if you have the time. If you are doing 2 activities or more in Salzburg check out the Salzburg card beforehand. It includes the cable car but also public transport from the train station and quite sure the airport too.
Sanjiv T — Google review
You may use Salzburg card to take the cable car ride, or purchase tickets before ride €34 for round trip. Long or short trek totally depends on your preferences. View on top are stunning and breathtaking 😍

This was an amazing experience. We visited on Sunday 25th June 2023. We took bus 25 from Salzburg train station. It was a beautiful and scenic bus ride. The Untersberg is the last bus stop. We bought 2 up and down (return) tickets for €56. The cable cars run frequently, every 15 minutes. The staff got in the car and shut the door, and off we went. It takes approximately 8 minutes to get to the top of the mountain. It gets bumpy when you get to the cable stations. The views are amazing. I was scared but I totally enjoyed it. When we got to the mountain, we walked up to the top of the mountain where there is a big cross. We could see the top of other mountains, and had a clear view of the city of Salzburg. We even saw a plane take off. The view from the top is amazing, the air is so clean and fresh. It was totally worth it. I fully recommend this experience.

My visit to Untersberg in 2018 left me in awe of its majestic beauty and provided an adventurous escape into nature. While I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I would give it a solid four-star rating. Untersberg's breathtaking landscapes, towering peaks, and lush greenery presented a picturesque setting that was truly awe-inspiring. The panoramic views of the surrounding Salzburg region were simply breathtaking, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and hikers. The cable car ride to the summit was a thrilling adventure in itself. The ascent offered sweeping vistas and a sense of anticipation for what awaited at the top. However, I would have appreciated more information or commentary during the journey to enhance the overall experience. Exploring the trails and paths on Untersberg was a delight. The well-maintained routes catered to varying fitness levels, allowing visitors to choose between leisurely walks or more challenging hikes. The tranquility of the natural surroundings and the invigorating mountain air offered a welcome respite from city life. The staff at Untersberg were friendly and helpful, providing guidance and recommendations for the best hiking routes. Their expertise and willingness to assist added value to the visit. While Untersberg's natural beauty was undoubtedly its highlight, I found the lack of amenities and facilities slightly disappointing. Limited dining options and restroom facilities could be inconvenient for visitors, especially those planning to spend a significant amount of time exploring the area. In summary, Untersberg is a nature lover's paradise, offering stunning vistas and exciting hiking opportunities. The cable car ride and the majestic landscapes are highlights that make the journey worthwhile. However, a more informative experience during the cable car ride and improved amenities would have elevated the overall visit. Nonetheless, I highly recommend Untersberg to those seeking a memorable outdoor adventure and a chance to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature.

What an incredible experience this was. Probably one of the highlights of our trip to Salzburg, Austria. The cable car took us up and then we hiked around. It was beautiful! Amazing views of Salzburg basin and surrounding areas of the mountain. Highly recommend!

One of the best places to visit if you are in Salzburg. 25 min bus from city centre and then 10 min ropeway which will take you into clouds with a thrilling experience of the height. Salzburg city card covers all public transport and the ropeway itself.

Perched at an elevation of 1834m, The Eagle's Nest was originally built as a mountain retreat for Hitler and has since been repurposed into a restaurant with stunning panoramic views. Accessible only by a special shuttle bus from the Kehlsteinhaus bus station, this historic site boasts a rich World War II history and was once used by top officials of the Third Reich regime.
Awesome place to see the views of the mountain range and the village below. Only has a little bit of the history to read to say how iconic it is. Overall Great place to visit, definitely a must see if not for the view alone.

Expensive but worth the trip! The bus is a little confusing, but you have to take the city (838) bus to the Dokumentation station and then buy a tour bus pass to get to the top. 838 drops you off and picks you up from the same area. Convenient! Costs around 11.50Euro for round trip from the main station to the tour station. Keep your ticket for the return. Can also just buy a one-way ticket. We went middle of October. Snow was VERY slippery (and wet) so bring good shoes or walking poles. Was cold but not super cold. Thumbs up if this review helped you! :)

We were surrounded by clouds going up the mountain, but once we went up the elevator, it was clear skies and beautiful. The house is a restaurant which i did not go to. You can climb a little bit of the mountain and take breathtaking pictures.

Great experience and amazing views!!! If you go when there is snow, expect no treatment on paths could be very treacherous. Would do it again for sure!!! Restaurant was very good also, would eat there again. You need to park then take a bus up to elevator.

This is a very cool place to visit. It’s great that such a historical place has remained largely unchanged since construction. Even if you’re not interested in World War II history, the site offers fantastic views assuming the weather is cooperative. We had a nice lunch in the restaurant and I hope to visit again with clearer weather.

A very good experience. The bus trip up and down is excellent, it makes you appreciate the work involved to create the road in such a short time period. The views from the top are just phenomenal.

Must see and worth the 15 min electrical bus drive up mountain. Spectacular views. Terrible history but worth remembering all of us to have this never happen again. In the sun-gallery there is some information on the site and history.

Amazing….it was even better than I imagined. There’s a restaurant there that also doesn’t gouge you on prices. The trip up on the bus is an event in itself, followed by the short walk up along the original entrance tunnel and into the same original gold coloured lift. Incidentally the lift holds over 30 people! Then when you get out you are above the clouds and it’s epic. If you are near there, I would highly recommend it

Liechtensteinklamm is a stunning natural attraction in the Alps, characterized by its deep and narrow gorge, footpaths, bridges, river, and waterfall. It is only accessible during the summer months. The surrounding mountains offer various hiking opportunities for all levels of hikers. St. Johann im Pongau is a popular ski destination with several ski resorts in the area.
An absolutely stunning mountain gorge with a crystal-clear, rushing river carving its way through the rocks. The graceful spiral staircase adds a unique charm and makes the walk even more memorable. The trail ends with a breathtaking waterfall and a panoramic viewing platform. If you ever find yourself in the area, don’t miss it — this is a true masterpiece of nature!

Nature trail - Liechtenstein Gorge. - Easy and pleasant Liechtensteinklamm trail. Very organized place, there are 4 parking lots (p1, p2) very close to the entrance. P3 + P4 is an effortless walk of 1 km. Entrance for 2 adults + 2 children 47 euros. Very organized trail, lots of places to photograph crazy nature, flowing water. There are stairs on the way (up and down). The trail is packed with people/visitors (we started at 10:00) The entire trail takes about two hours, depending on the traffic and how many photos you take.

Totally worth to go there! Ticket for adult cost 15 euros, child for free. Well maintained path and stairs. We took a hike with our 4yo and we made it all together, it was super safe and definitely also a child friendly option for active family. We arrived just after 10am which was a great time since when we were coming back, all the parking spots were full just the further one(P5) available and we managed to park in P1. So definitely worth to come early

Easy walk with about 400 stairs. It’s not a circular walk so you will have to walk those 400 steps on your way back. The views are gorgeous and it’s perfect if you are looking for a 3 hour walk in nature with a unique pathway and the most beautiful stairs I ever saw.
Benjamin L — Google review
Certainly worth the visit! Stunning waterfall and gorge. The spiral staircase is an added bonus! Take your time and breathe the mountain fresh air.
Marina W — Google review
Stunning gorge, quite easy hiking, definitely worth 15€ ticket. It takes less than 1 hour for the round trip. A little bit wet, it's better to have shoes with confident grip
Oleksandr S — Google review
Worth more than they charge you. And they definitively were not joking about the safety measures they take. Do come early in the morning or before closing because the crowd is quite disturbing the experience. There are big free parkings. The famous steps are only one part of the going up and down. It is short but not flat. Also, do not take your dog if you can't carry her: she will definitively not appreciate it as all the bigger dogs were scared and the steps can easily hurt their paws. They will not enjoy it one bit.
M. E — Google review
Various Parkplatzs available. Luckily there was availability in P1 (near to Kasse). From there, it will take around 40minutes (beginners) one way to the end point (Waterfall). Beginners can also do it.., no fitness needed! Just some spiral staircase and off-road walking. Worth the visit!

Amazing place for skiers... Fantastic also for families... Mostly easy and intermediate slopes Alpendorf is a diamond of this region, I am recommended it for families, couples, and solo travellers... With 100% guarantee snow, Snow Space shows that they are focused and ready to please and serve every tourist and skier during the ski season.. FYI I was in Alpendorf (Snow Space) in 2023. and 2024. 20 days in total at the beginning of January with my family

Update for winter 24-25. Still the best. 16 years now. The snow making is wonderful combined with some of the best slope grooming in the world. Great combination of Red and Blue slopes with a few Blacks. Stegbach is Black and served with only a T-bar - usually not crowded at all. Update For winter 2023-24. After 15 years with season passes, I can still say no regrets. The snow making is incredible, along with some of the best slope grooming anywhere. Alpendorf/St Johann is one of the best ski areas in Austria - located less than an hour south of Salzburg. It's not the biggest, but combined with Wagrain and Flachau (all connected by lifts), it's a very large area with a great mix of slopes. Off-piste is limited, but the slopes are extremely well maintained. The snow making is some of the best in the world, guaranteeing good skiing usually from the beginning of December to mid-April. The food and drink on the mountain is great and reasonable. I have been skiing for over 60 years and have skied some of the biggest and best ski areas in France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and North America (West and East). We picked Alpendorf for season passes and have no regrets.
Peter J — Google review
A huge and excellent ski resort, so many options for skiing, the ski pass allows access to over 700 km of slopes even when it is not snowing, 90 percent of the slopes can be covered with snow by snow machines, so there is nothing to worry about, the only thing is that it can be very, very crowded with people on certain days and hours

Well designed fairy tale park for children, with revolving motives of four basic elements - Earth, Air, Water and Fire. Nice walking track is guided by two friendly ghosts - Ghosty & Spooky. I bet, your kids will love them. Even if the price for cable car is not cheap (cca € 65 for 2 adults and 2 children), it's worthy to visit. The park itself is tasteful, toy train, which brings you to the top of the mountain, is free of charge and you even have wifi on the summit. And panorama around is nice.

Mirabell Palace, a 17th-century architectural gem located in Salzburg, is renowned for its ornamental gardens and opulent interior. The palace was featured in the iconic film 'The Sound of Music,' with its gardens serving as the backdrop for memorable scenes. Built by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich in 1606 and later redesigned in Baroque style, the palace boasts exquisite interior decorations including stucco and wall paintings.
Mirabell Palace is absolutely stunning and a must-see in Salzburg. The palace itself is elegant, but the real highlight is the Mirabell Gardens — beautifully maintained with colorful flower beds, sculptures, and fountains that make it feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. The view looking through the gardens towards the fortress is breathtaking and perfect for photos. It’s free to enter the gardens, and they’re easy to walk through, so it’s a great stop even if you’re short on time. If you visit in spring or summer, the flowers are in full bloom and the atmosphere is magical. Music lovers will also appreciate that some of the “Sound of Music” scenes were filmed here. Highly recommend visiting in the morning before the crowds arrive — it’s peaceful, romantic, and unforgettable.

The gardens are magnificent. Symmetry and colors are combined in beautiful compositions. Access to the gardens is free. The palace itself is also free, but there is nothing to see. Access is only to the staircase, which is magnificent, but it is disappointing that there is no access to the halls. We only managed to peek into one.

It's a really beautiful and popular place in Salzburg that everyone have to see. The gardens are stunning and you can enjoy sitting around and taking photos. There are also classical music concerts there, which are definitely a must-see if you love this genre!

Even in late October, without all the flowers, the gardens are well kept and beautiful. I’m a huge fan of the dwarf garden! Very fun, though not PC (bc history is not PC) statues in there! Worth a walk through and FREE. The only part of the palace that was accessible was the marble staircase area—I believe it had a real name. Pretty, but the gardens are better!

Nice walk around the gardens with the memorable views of the Sound of Music. There were three weddings going on at the same time. Seems the palace was closed for visitors today. Loaded with tourists parties there for the same reason as us no doubt.

Even though it was rainy a lot, the sculptures at the outskirts of the palace and the gardens inside were pretty. The cobblestone ground was a bit swampy and uncomfortable to walk, but anyway I bet it'd be fascinating to revisit there on sunny days.

Mozart's Birthplace, also known as Mozarts Geburtshaus, is a significant historical site in Salzburg. The yellow townhouse was where Wolfgang Mozart, one of the most influential composers in history, was born and lived for 17 years. Today, it operates as a house museum offering tours that provide insights into Mozart's early life. Visitors can explore three floors filled with personal belongings, musical instruments, family portraits, and other important items related to Mozart.
Mozart’s Birthplace Museum is a must-visit in the heart of Salzburg. With the Salzburg Card, entry is free and quick, making it very convenient. The museum offers wonderful insights into Mozart’s life, his family, and his works, with many fascinating details on display. A free app with an audio guide is available, which makes the visit even more engaging and informative. One of the highlights is a special room where instruments are built into the floor—when you walk across it, music begins to play. If you’re visiting with others, it creates a truly delightful and interactive experience. Overall, a well-curated museum that brings Mozart’s story to life in the city where it all began.
Elnur Q — Google review
A must-see in Salzburg. It was fascinating to visit the birthplace of the great musician. The museum houses many of the musician's personal belongings, his musical instruments, and much more. Be sure to use the Mozart Museums Salzburg App as your guide.

Great museum and tribute to Mozart. Informative displays with historical significance. I really like that the museum has a QR code you can scan and have a self guided tour simply with your own phone. We were there on a Sunday and it was not over crowded. They have a few public restrooms also available. The gift shop is very nice and inviting. I highly recommend it.
Debbie M — Google review
The museum collection is quite simple, and tickets can be purchased in advance on the website. When we asked the ticket counter staff about an audio guide, the lady said there wasn’t one — but upon entering, we discovered there is actually a free app to download. The staff didn’t seem very professional, and although the museum mentions having one of the largest collections from the Mozart Association, to be honest, the value for money felt quite low. Also, the weather was very hot, and it felt like a sauna inside the museum.
Penny N — Google review
Nice, but definitely wouldn't go back. A fine visit for a rainy day, but if you have other things to do, this can be skipped. It would have been a bit nicer if they had some of Mozart's music playing as you visit the rooms.

Located on Getreidegasse in Salzburg’s Old Town, Mozart’s Birthplace is a fascinating stop for anyone interested in classical music and history. The house where Mozart was born in 1756 has been converted into a well-curated museum displaying his original instruments, family portraits, and letters, giving a personal insight into his early years. The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Ticket prices are €15 for adults, €12 for students under 27, seniors, and groups, €5 for youth (15–18 years), €4.50 for children (6–14 years), and €30 for families. Entry is free for children under six, people with disabilities, and Salzburg Card holders. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds, especially during summer. It’s a short yet enriching experience that captures the essence of Mozart’s genius and Salzburg’s musical heritage.

We were very excited to visit the home place of Mozart whilst staying in Salzburg as I am a big fan, however I have to say we were not very impressed for few reasons.. 1 Overcrowded, feels like you can't enjoy the place without having 10/15 Japanese on your shoulder coughing and sneezing you in the face.. 2 The interactive section was poorly presented, they should modernize it a bit.. 3 Too expensive for what they offer. Happy to have done it, but wouldn't return.

Salzburg Cathedral, with its twin spires and baroque-style architecture, is a monumental symbol of the city's religious significance and historical wealth. The cathedral houses a museum that displays sacred treasures, adding to its allure. The building has undergone several reconstructions over the centuries, with the current structure showcasing early Baroque ecclesiastical architecture at its finest. Visitors are captivated by the towering facade and turquoise domes of this 17th-century marvel.
The inside of this cathedral is absolutely stunning. The walls and ceilings are bathed in rich and intricate detail and the ceiling has eye catching murals and statues. It truly is something to see and worth a bit of your time in Salzburg. It doesn’t take long to just pop in and admire. I would encourage visitors to wear appropriate clothing and act appropriately considering this is a church.

Beautiful cathedral!! Entrance fee is a modest 5 Euros. Once inside be sure to check out the underground in the far back left (facing the altar). Also there’s a giant metal structure where Mozart was baptized as a child (see in my photos)

Beautiful large cathedral with high ceiling and open space. We got lucky as a small group of musicians were performing which allowed the music to echo throughout the cathedral which made for a peaceful ambiance. I would highly recommend visiting this place.

Just amazing! The Cathedral has a unique architecture and we also booked ourselves for an organ concert. Every day at noonafter the 12 o'clock bells there is an organ concert. It's preferable you book your place. The player changed the organs and during half hour he played different pieces to three different organs. A must do activity in Salzburg.

Nice cathedral and need 5 euro entrance ticket. We were here on the first day of Rupertikirtag festival, so the stalls and other activities are just starting to kick off the festivities. From here we walk to the Festung Hohensalzburg gate to buy the cable car ticket.

The Salzburg Cathedral is a breathtaking Baroque masterpiece in the heart of the Old Town. Its grand façade, elegant dome, and beautifully decorated interior create a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere. The cathedral’s historic organ, once played by Mozart, and its stunning frescoes make it a true cultural gem. Surrounded by the charming Domplatz and views of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, it’s a must-see landmark that perfectly captures Salzburg’s beauty and history.

An absolutely beautiful church! This stands out from many of the other churches we’d seen because of the stunning black and white design that makes the paintings pop. The organ was also beautiful. There is an entrance fee but the discount with the Salzburg card brings it down to €3.5 per person.

Perched on a hilltop with commanding views of the city and the Alps, Fortress Hohensalzburg is an impressive 11th-century complex that draws in over 1.4 million visitors annually. To avoid the crowds, it's best to arrive early and take a glass funicular or embark on a steep 20-minute walk up Festungsgasse in the Old Town to reach this iconic landmark.
Great view but you need to pay extra to go to the tower (which we didn’t). Still absolutely worth visiting while you’re in Salzburg. You can skip the line if you buy or get tickets upfront (we got them from our hotel).

Very nice fortress overlooking the city of Salzburg. You get some magnificent view from up there. You also have the opportunity to got to the top of the fortress and get a full 360 degree view of the region. They have some nice museums and displays inside the fortress. Definitely worth it to spend some good amount of time. Even if you are here for short time, it would recommend 1.5hr just to walk through the entire area.

Bought the entrance and funicular train ticket and it's a enjoyable trip up the hill to the castle. Plenty of stuff to see in the fortress and also great view of Salzburg city from the top of the castle. Really beautiful scenery and we don't want to leave but had to rush to find the train station as we need to catch the 12pm Hallstatt tour.

We visited the Fortress Hohensalzburg and had a memorable experience. We didn’t know about the funicular to go up, so we walked all the way — a great cardio workout and a nice way to enjoy the surroundings. 🏰 The fortress itself is beautiful and very well preserved, offering a fascinating glimpse into Salzburg’s history. The museum inside is truly impressive, with excellent exhibits that make the visit even more enriching. 🌄 The highlight, however, is the breathtaking view from the top. Looking out over Salzburg and the surrounding mountains is simply unforgettable. ✅ Overall, Fortress Hohensalzburg is a must-see attraction in Salzburg. Whether you take the funicular or walk up, the combination of history, architecture, and stunning scenery makes it well worth the visit.

Truly beautiful, must see spot in Salzburg. Definitely recommend the panaromic view from the fortress tower. We unfortunately hadn’t visited neither the museum nor the armory, but we enjoyed it anyway. We really appreciated the stand where we could get for ourselves some Glühwein and simply enjoy the beautiful night view.

We thought there would be more spaces that were open for tours, but the tour was still good. The restaurant in the fortress was great! Service was great as well as the food and we enjoyed as much as we could eat as the portion sizes were large.

This is a fascinating site. There are many things to see in this historic place. Be prepared for some step climbing to get the very best views. We enjoyed learning all the history about the Fortress. There are rooms full of interesting items dating from ancient times to modern life.

Amazing castle and exhibition. Everything is modern, interactive and multisensory. Truly a nice example of the basic of how exhibitions today should look like. Plus the ticket's price is also very okay. 100% recommend buying tickets in advance though, there was a super long queue when buying on the spot.

Eisriesenwelt, located near the town of Werfen in the Salzburg Alps, is a breathtaking natural wonder. Discovered in 1879, it is the largest ice cave in the world, with a labyrinth of caves spanning over 42 kilometers. Accessible to the public from May to October, visitors can embark on guided tours through this mesmerizing icy landscape.
We were holidaying in the Bayern area, and just had to experience this. Its somewhat of a 3/4 day experience. The drive there on its own is quite magical already. Tickets where quite easy to get online and you do a check-in at the counter. The short hike up to the cable car is amazing. And then you get to take another hike through tunnels to get to the entrance. The caves themselves is absolutely stunning. Definitely recommend long pants and jackets as it is 0degreesC inside. And be ready to walk a lot of steep steps. The guides are absolutely brilliant and the tour is offered in English and German. Highly recommend the visit. It's more than just the ice cave!
Shalen R — Google review
You should be prepared to enormously steep climb - 1 km before the cable car and 1 km after. Additionally, the staircase with 1400 steps awaits you inside the cave. No warnings in the tourists center about the climbing, which is potentially dangerous or even impossible for not so young people or people with medical problems. The cave itself is quite average one. Positive things: great views outside the cave and on your way to the cave
Alexander C — Google review
Excellent trip to do!! We went in October. Was cold but not really bad. A regular jacket etc probably will suffice. Do be prepared for a LOT of uphill walking. You will need to take a shuttle bus (2 pick up points. Google it), it costs around 10 Euros and is CASH ONLY. Bring cash for this! You definitely don’t want to walk to the base site unless you feel like doing an all day hike. Once at the base, you can get tickets to go into the cave (includes the rail cart up to the top). Tickets are like 4 Euros cheaper if bought online. Super easy to buy online. After you leave ticket area, 15-20 mins uphill walk, then take the rail car, then another 15-20 mins uphill and then you are at the cave entrance. Wait here for a guided tour in your language. Lights are provided for the cave. Photos are NOT normally allowed. It seems they let you if it is the slow season. Give this review a like if it helped you! :)
Colton W — Google review
It took us around 45 min to get to the cave (from the visitor center it takes 20 min to the cable and then again 20 min to the cave). You must be in a good fit to climb up the trail to the cave. It is expensive (125 euro for 3 adults and 2 kids). The cave itself is very nice but it also includes climbing up 1400 stairs. The surrounding view is exceptional and worth the climb.
Milly K — Google review
Highly recommended but keep in mind, it’s for hikers. You will need to hike at least 40 minutes climbing and the cave is another 1400 stairs (700 up and 700 down). It’s fantastic journey and great tour but very difficult. The tour uses lanterns and magnesium for light which is great for the vibe but less good for pictures.
Neil R — Google review
Great place to visit, incredible ice cave with great views and history. Lots of steps inside, physically challenging, but worth every step. Warm clothes required!
Marc — Google review
Interesting experience. From the parking lot, it takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach the lift, which, after a short wait, carries you up the mountain in 3 minutes. From there, another 20-minute walk leads to the entrance of the cave. Along the way, the view down into the valley is breathtaking. At the cave entrance, after a short wait, guided tours start in German and English. Our guide Simon, who led the German tour, was fantastic—humorous and very knowledgeable. Inside the cave, you have to climb about 700 steps, but it’s absolutely worth it, as the ice formations look like something from a fairytale. We were given small lanterns to help us find our way in the darkness, since there is no lighting inside. It’s very cold, so you really need to dress warmly. I recommend this trip to everyone—it’s a wonderful excursion.

Erlebnis-Therme Amadé

Thermal baths
Water & Amusement Parks
Waterpark complex with indoor & outdoor pools, looping slides & a spa with 7 saunas.
An incredible place for relaxation! After a few days of skiing, Therme Amadé is the perfect place to unwind and recharge. This thermal spa offers something for all ages, making it a great destination for families, couples, or solo visitors. The saunas are truly impressive, each with its own unique atmosphere, while the thermal water is maintained at an ideal temperature both indoors and outdoors, allowing for ultimate relaxation regardless of the season. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food, making it easy to spend an entire day here without needing to leave. Prices are reasonable, and you can choose between a full-day ticket or a shorter stay, depending on your schedule. One important note for first-time visitors: the sauna area follows the local tradition of being textile-free, and this is taken seriously. However, it’s part of the authentic Austrian spa culture, and it’s worth respecting and embracing the experience. Overall, Therme Amadé is a fantastic wellness retreat that perfectly complements a ski holiday or simply a relaxing getaway. Highly recommended!
Attila K — Google review
FOR SAUNA ENTHUSIASTS Therme Amadé’s water and sauna world is the main reason we keep returning to the Flachau region every winter. In this review, I want to focus on the sauna area of the complex. Have you ever heard of Aufguss or sauna ceremonies? Can you imagine a sauna cathedral (Bergkristall Sauna) filled with around 50 people shouting “Amadé Reißer!” in a moment of pure heat-induced euphoria, happiness, and nirvana? Whether your answer is yes or no, you absolutely need to experience it. An Aufguss is an organized sauna ritual led by a sauna master. It starts at a set time (usually every hour) and lasts up to 15 minutes. The master pours water infused with essential oils onto the hot stones, intensifying the heat with steam. Then, using a towel or a vejar (fan), they skillfully wave the hot air towards the sauna guests, creating an incredible sensation. This process is repeated over three or four rounds, each one feeling hotter than the last—though, in reality, the temperature slightly decreases while the steam makes it feel more intense. The sauna masters at Therme Amadé are true Aufguss maestros! We usually arrive before 18:00, as the sauna area requires an additional ticket valid for four hours. During our visit, we typically attend three to four sauna ceremonies. The highlight is the signature ritual, Amadé Reißer, at 20:00 (check the attached schedule for details). It’s intense—hot as hell—but absolutely unforgettable. If you’re new to sauna culture, I recommend sitting on the lower level, where the heat is milder. Besides these group rituals, you can also enjoy the various saunas individually, but trust me, group sessions are much more fun! A few tips: • Bring your own sauna towel or kilt. • The sauna area is separate from the swimming pools and water slides. However, it has its own indoor and outdoor thermal pools, an indoor jacuzzi, a bar, and plenty of loungers for relaxation. • One important thing: swimwear is not allowed in this section. Don’t worry—even though it gets quite busy in the evenings during winter, the atmosphere remains friendly, natural, and discreet. -The entrance ticket to sauna for 4 hrs is 36€. You may also enter the water and swimming part. If you love sauna experiences, this place is a must-visit. Enjoy and Aufguss on!

Terme Amada - A very nice and tidy hot water thermal spa (it's better to arrive early). At 9:00 we stood in line to enter (about a 35 minute wait). The place is not large but enough for all visitors. There is an indoor wave guide and another large jacuzzi inside. There is a very large pool outside with all kinds of jacuzzi areas. The water is at a temperature of 34 all year round (fun on a rainy winter day). There is a small and cozy restaurant there.

Of all the swimming spots in the Salzburg area, we liked this one the most. It's clean, big, has everything, even a place to eat. The slides are very nice, there are several pools, and the water is 34 degrees. We loved it and will return at the end of our visit to Salzburg.

If you have rainy days, so this place is ideal for this time. Very good salads, good prices, kind waiters.
Marie D — Google review
It was our second time visiting here, this time on a somewhat rainy Saturday. Therefore, it was quite busy. We didn't care for the pool area, and went straight for the sauna area. It was nice and clean, and the facilities were just what we needed. The staff is very friendly, and they work hard. However, guests were badly instructed on how to use a sauna. They walked in with slippers, talking when they shouldn't, and overall loud. On top of that, during lunch there was an overflow of people from the pool area, meaning there were young children (they aren't allowed in the sauna under age 12) in the sauna area. There were also children in the 16+ area. There were quite a lot of Aufguss and we couldn't enjoy the sauna's fully because we had to leave because the staff had to prepare. Our day was fine, but it could've been a lot better.
Alex H — Google review
We visited as a group of three adults. The sauna area itself was nice, but we noticed that the actual temperatures in the saunas didn’t match what was written on the doors- each one felt significantly cooler. The Hammam, which was listed as 35°C, felt particularly cold. During our visit, there were many children running between saunas, frequently opening doors, which disrupted the experience. It seems like a great spot for families with kids, but for a more relaxing visit, I’d recommend coming early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid crowds. One thing to be aware of: full nudity is strictly required in the sauna area. Wearing a towel—even when you are fully naked under - is not accepted, unlike many other European sauna facilities. My sister and I were asked to leave a sauna despite being wrapped in towels, which unfortunately impacted our overall experience
Polina F — Google review
Evening deal for 19€ from 7pm until closing time is great. Very nice sauna area. However, the staff has to stop shutting down the outside saunas and start cleaning everything already from 9.30pm. It's very rude for customers who have paid to stay until the end and feel pressured to leave the facility from 9.30pm already.

Zwölferhorn is a popular destination for winter sports and hiking enthusiasts, boasting a 4,993-foot summit that can be reached by cable car or ski lifts. Visitors are treated to stunning views of Lake Wolfgang and the surrounding Salzkammergut region. The mountain also offers challenging trails for hikers, but the reward at the top makes it worth the effort with opportunities to enjoy beer while taking in one of life's best views.
Amazing view of Wolfgangsee from the peak.it takes around 10 mins to reach to the peak with cable car. It's a beautiful hiking trail.can easily spend 4-5 hours here. The night before we went it had snowed quite a bit, n it was amazing to walk around in fresh snow. Basilika St. Michael, located in Mondsee, Austria, is famous for being the setting of the wedding of Maria and Captain Von Trapp in the iconic musical, The Sound of Music. Visitors appreciate its proximity to Mondsee Lake and the picturesque surroundings featured in the film. The exterior is modest while the interior boasts ornate carvings and vibrant decorations. The colorful buildings nearby add to the warm ambiance of the area. A souvenir shop on-site offers mementos for visitors.
This church was filmed in The Sound of Music where the wedding ceremony took place. A beautiful church.

Basilika St. Michael is such a beautiful church. It's in the quaint little town of Mondsee. Absolutely worth the drive. We arrived rather late in the day. Didn't take pictures inside as it's an active place of worship. This is where the Sound of Music marriage scene was filmed. Majestic interior. However, it's not the actual place the wedding took place between Maria and Captain Von Trapp. When we arrived, a very sweet local old man was there and shared a lot of information about the church with us. It's wonderful to know that places of worship still have importance in so many people's lives.

SchafbergBahn is a charming railway that offers a delightful journey to the summit of Schafberg Mountain. The bright red vintage trains provide an excellent photo opportunity as they chug up and down the mountain. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from the top and explore various pathways while savoring refreshments at the cafe with outdoor seating. It's advisable to pre-purchase tickets online and select boarding and returning times in advance, as well as being prepared for a 30-minute ride each way.
A nice experience! Pricey (€56.50 for a round trip per person), but definitely worth it. It takes around 35 minutes to get to the peak. Beware of usually colder weather there. Also, the tickets are sold for a specific departure time (return trip can be re-booked at a terminal in the restaurant on the mountain). Along the road you’ll see picturesque countryside, beautiful hills and, if you’re lucky enough, some wildlife. Restaurants uphill are pricey, so, if you are tight on a budget, get some food with you.

Unique cogwheel railway to fantastic mountain-top views. Cafe and restaurant at the top and also a kiosk (cash only, very reasonable). Trains are booked so that everyone had a seat - afternoon trains were fully unbooked, so maybe go up later if you want to avoid the crowds.

👍🏻 Great experience and I think it is the best option compared to other trains in Austria. 👍🏻 The train route up and down is beautiful, allowing you to see the entire Wolfgang Lake. 👍🏻 Upon reaching the summit we were able to see very impressive views of Wolfgang Lake and other nearby lakes. ⚠️ It takes 35 minutes for the train to climb to the top and also descend the same time 35 minutes. ⚠️ In my opinion the train is a great experience for children more than adults. ⚠️ There is an overpriced adult ticket for €56 while the child ticket is €17 We request those in charge of the train management to reduce the price of the adult ticket to not exceed €35 The price is a bit reasonable. ⚠️ It is preferable to book tickets at the counter because there are discount offers because I booked online and found out that I have a discount card from the hotel, but I did not benefit from it because I actually paid. ⚠️ Restaurants and toilets are available on top. ⚠️ Always try to sit on the side overlooking Lake Wolfgang. ⚠️ Scan the ticket code on the parking lot when the final price appears and you will get a special discount, I know this by chance from the counter ticket and they don't tell anyone about it. ⚠️ Don't rush down from the top as many do, try to spend an hour to an hour and a half there to have fun and walk & For hiking lovers, I recommend staying from two to two and a half hours because there is a very beautiful and exciting trail on the edge of the mountain. ⚠️ Electronic Portals For going up and down programmed on the time set so it is not optional and you should pay attention to it. ⚠️ The location of the station is located in the Wolfgang Center and you can enjoy a walking tour that will have great views and many options of cafes and restaurants.

The trip was really great! 🌄 We bought train tickets and went up, stopping at the first station to hike to the top (about an hour’s walk). The trail is quite challenging and better suited for experienced hikers, but the views along the way are absolutely stunning. At the summit, there are breathtaking views and a nice restaurant, though a bit pricey. The place is suitable for families, but not if you plan to stop halfway and hike. We took a return ticket after about 3 hours – that’s a bit long if you’re not doing the hike, so keep that in mind. The attraction itself is quite expensive, but it’s definitely a special experience worth doing once.

Longest cog railway in Austria. And needed during the ride up the mountains. Very well maintained. Nice hall for the tickets. The ladies at the counter were patient n the condescending manner, possibly with gritted teeth. The website is very good with options. However you need to be very precise with when you want to travel and come back which we couldn’t do as we were driving and wanted to flexible. Anyway don’t let my comments detract from you not taking this railway through beautiful countryside. I did meet someone at the top whom had walked up….. this would have been great too but the knees

Salzwelten Hallstatt is a fascinating salt-mine museum located in the UNESCO World Heritage region of Hallstatt Dachstein Salzkammergut in Austria. It boasts a 7,000-year history and is home to the oldest wooden staircase in Europe, dating back 2,800 years. Visitors can explore over 3000-year-old tunnels and learn about all aspects of salt mining through educational exhibits and a cinema showcasing discoveries made in the mine.
Definitely an unforgettable experience! The underground tunnels were fascinating , sliding down the wooden miner slides was so much fun ! The light show deep inside the mountain was magical as well , views from the top were absolutely breathtaking.

What a great experience. The tour is very entertaining with a lot of facts, fun and adventure. You have to walk a fair amount of stairs. Visitors receive special clothes and can learn a lot about salt in general and about the process of the extraction as well. In the price of 43€ per person is included also the viewpoint, mine tour both in English and Deutsch, slides and a funicular ride in both directions. I totally recommend it! It is really worth it.

Salzwelten Hallstatt & Shop @ Hallstatt 🧂⛏️🇦🇹 🗓️ Visited: Saturday, 9 AM I made an online reservation for the Salzwelten Hallstatt tour and arrived early for the 9 AM slot—an excellent choice, as the morning was quieter and more relaxed. The visit begins with a scenic funicular ride up the hillside, giving beautiful lake views before reaching the mine entrance. The guided tour takes you deep into the historic salt tunnels, past centuries-old wooden pipelines, mining tools, and fascinating multimedia displays. Highlights included sliding down the traditional wooden miners’ slides and seeing the sparkling underground salt lake—absolutely magical. The mix of history, geology, and interactive fun made it a truly memorable experience. After the tour, I browsed the Salzwelten Shop for local gifts—gourmet Hallstatt salt, salt-infused chocolates, cosmetics, and decorative souvenirs. Everything felt unique and tied to the village’s heritage. 💡 The whole tour is worth the price! An absolute must-try if you’re visiting Hallstatt. 🧭 Tip: Book online in advance and go in the morning for a calmer, more spacious experience during the tour.

It is truly a very unique experience. You get to see how salt was extracted thousand years ago, and how it is being extracted nowadays. Furthermore, the guides are very experienced giving very important information about all the places you get to see, while large wooden slides are available for some fun.

Salzwelten Hallstatt is a unique and fascinating attraction that takes you deep into the ancient salt mines. The tour is both fun and educational, offering a hands-on experience of the history and craft of salt mining. The site is well-preserved, and the guides are knowledgeable and engaging, making the visit truly eye-opening. Combined with the stunning beauty of Hallstatt itself, Salzwelten adds a rich cultural layer to your trip. It’s highly recommended for families and anyone interested in history and culture.

Super fun experience for all who are visiting hallstatt! Tickets and reservation not available online, so u need to purchase them from the base funicular station. The staff will inform you when is the next tour starting, so you just gotta head up in advance via the funicular (which was pretty fast). Each tour is about 43 pax so make sure to queue or plan ahead! i thought that the group size was too big as even though the facilities inside could accomodate this group, there was a lot of unnecessary waiting around and people at the back could not hear what the guide was saying at each station, despite her already close to shouting. The cave was huge, but the time to explore or take photos at each station is very short. The staff will switch off the light within 5mins and people at the back usually dont get much chances to take pics by the time we reach the station. However, the caves were still pretty cool and we really enjoyed the 2 slides! We also got to take a train out of the salt mine via a really narrow tunnel and that was exhilarating. Overall the tour was about 1 and a half hours. The last tour is at 3.40pm, which means u can still catch the last funicular down after you complete the tour.
Cherie C — Google review
The tour was a great experience with lots of fun parts. The tour included fun slides and videos. We received special clothing to safely slide down the rides. The tour starts deep into the mine, where they explain the history of the mine and how they extract the salt. We had a great guide called Jakob, making the tour not only informative but also entertaining. However, the light show was an utter disaster- I could have made better. In addition the pricing what a little expensive.
Vince — Google review
It isn’t a cheap trip - but overall, I am glad we visited the Hallstatt Salt Mine. You have to dress in the protective clothing of the salt miners before you start the tour and backpacks must be left in lockers and reclaimed at the tour’s end. The tour itself took around an hour. You get to ride on two wooden miners’ slides during the trip which is good fun. At the second slide, your speed is recorded as you pass the camera positioned to catch all the fun. We managed to clock up only a miserable 11 kilometres per hour compared to our guide’s winning score of 28.6 kilometres per hour. You also get to ride on the miners’ train back at the end which makes a nice finale. Inside the cave, it is interesting to see the salt deposits up close. Various informative movies are played as you walk through the mine and you get a good feel for the 7,000 year history of salt mining in this part of Austria. Salt is a good preservative, so the Salt Mine is an archeological treasure trove. Towards the end of the tour, you get to see the oldest European evidence of a wooden staircase. Check opening times before you visit as the site is very popular, the only access is via the funicular and numbers are strictly limited. You need to allow 3 hours or so for the whole trip. The Panoramic Viewpoint - Hallstatt Skywalk is an awe-inspiring observation deck that extends over the charming village of Hallstatt in Austria. Situated at a height of 1,148 feet amidst the stunning Dachstein Alps, it offers breathtaking vistas of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Visitors can admire the deep blue waters of Hallstatter See, lush green valleys, and majestic mountain ranges from this elevated vantage point.
Visiting the Hallstatt Panoramic Viewpoint was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. As the funicular carried us gently up the mountainside, the anticipation grew, but nothing could prepare me for the view that awaited. At the top, I was greeted by an awe-inspiring sight: the fairytale village of Hallstatt nestled between the serene lake and majestic alpine peaks. The glass viewing platform makes you feel like you’re floating above the world, offering a 360° panorama that is absolutely surreal. On a clear day, you can see every detail – the shimmering waters, the charming rooftops, and the endless expanse of the Dachstein mountains. It’s not just a viewpoint; it’s a place where time seems to stand still. Perfect for photos, reflection, or simply soaking in the beauty of nature. I’d recommend going early in the morning or late afternoon for the most magical light (and fewer crowds). If you’re in Hallstatt, this is an absolute must-see. It’s the kind of place that leaves you speechless and stays in your heart forever. 🌄✨

Spectacular view from above. Not too expensive and worth the money going up with a „Zahnradbahn“. At the time of our visit we had to climb a LOT of stairs going up, down, up , down and up - exhausting stairs climbing, not for people with problems walking but this will change once the elevator will be ready - guessing in a few month. Check before.

The Panoramic Viewpoint in Hallstatt offers stunning views of the village and lake — truly worth visiting. It can get quite crowded, and we had to wait our turn for photos, but the breathtaking scenery makes it all worthwhile.

I went to the Hallstatt Skywalk at the end of August, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. Getting up there is very easy – you just take the funicular, and the ride itself takes no more than five minutes. Before that, I waited in line for around 15 minutes, which didn’t feel too bad considering how many people want to go up. Once I reached the top, there was another short wait, about 15 minutes, before stepping out onto the viewing platform to take photos. Honestly, the views are incredible and make the wait completely worth it. You can see the lake, the mountains, and the little town far below – it feels like standing above a postcard. The place is quite popular, so it can get a bit crowded, but I think that’s expected in such a famous spot. If you come with a bit of patience, you’ll definitely enjoy it. I would recommend it not only for the Skywalk itself, but also because Hallstatt as a town is really special. Walking around the streets, seeing the houses by the water, and just taking in the atmosphere was just as memorable as the viewpoint. In the end, I’m glad I went – it’s the kind of experience that feels like a must when you’re in this area.

Gorgeous view of the lake and surroundings. The lift area to the cablecar is under construction so we had to go around. But if you're up for an adventure I recommend hiking up there.
Beatrice B — Google review
If you wanna go walking to the Panoramic viewpoint do the way on the street and read before if the downway is open because we got until a point and it was closed. The view is amazing anyway !
Laura T — Google review
We took the funicular to the entrance to the viewpoint. Then you need to walk up a hill to a LONG set of stairs down, then thru 2 cages of stairs, then back UP another LONG & WINDING set of stairs to reach the Top of the Sky Bridge & Restaurant. Is it worth it? Yes! The views are fabulous and the restaurant was also good. Just to note: they are in the middle of construction 🚧 putting in an Elevator! What a novel idea. That is situated at the top of the funicular so sometime the future those that don't want or can't make the trip with all the upstairs & downs and stairs will be able to experience the views as well. In the meantime... wear sneakers! My calls are still killing me!
Sandi S — Google review
The wait for the funicular is worth it, even in bad weather, as the view across the lake can be unique. The café at the top isn't a bad place to wait for the rain to stop.

Marktplatz Hallstatt, also known as the market place in Hallstatt, is a picturesque square at the heart of the historic town. Surrounded by majestic mountains and overlooking a beautiful lake, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered Austria's best-kept secret. The square features the Holy Trinity Statue, a symbol of gratitude and protection from natural disasters. Visitors can explore small cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops offering traditional Austrian goods.
There’s no doubt about the beauty of this place but I think it’s too much hyped. It is beautiful and it does have a vibe to it. Worst part of this place is no one excepts card here everyone will demand cash(except parking and groceries stores), and when you question they will give a lame reason of Internet not working there🤷🏽‍♂️. So beware, when withdrawing cash you will be charged 6.5euro per transaction.

What a gorgeous little town. Make sure you have cash!!!!!! The ferry is CASH ONLY. And most restaurants are cash only. Very few spots will take a card. There are ATMs, but obviously it will cost you a little bit more than being prepared. I recommend this town more as a day trip, not a place I’d want to stay overnight.
Julie M — Google review
An absolute must visit, picturesque and simply stunning town. The vibe and atmosphere is to die for. Crowded during early to mid-afternoon, but definitely worth a visit despite few hours train ride (you get to enjoy beautiful Austrian countryside though).

This beautiful place was in our "must visit" list. Full of beautiness. Breathtakingly beautiful nature, many restaurants/cafes. Just by sitting and watching you already feel calmness, you loose your stress. Everything was perfect, highly recommend all to visit this heavenly place. Just costs are bit high, and I think it's normal for such a touristic place.
Fidan — Google review
A breathtaking place; it encapsulates all the best bits of Austria in one place. Parking is a nightmare - best to park in Obertraun on the opposite side of the lake and take the little ferry boat. It is electric and suits the stillness of the lake perfectly

Marktplatz @ Hallstatt 🏘️⛰️🇦🇹 📍 Historic Town Center The Marktplatz is the charming heart of Hallstatt—a postcard-perfect square surrounded by pastel-colored houses, flower-decked balconies, cafés, and small shops selling local crafts and souvenirs. In the middle stands an elegant fountain, framed by seasonal blooms and overlooked by the dramatic alpine backdrop. 📸✨ We decided to stay in Hallstatt for 2 nights, which allowed us to enjoy the square at different times of day—quiet in the early mornings, lively by midday, and softly lit in the evenings. Staying overnight meant we could explore without the heavy day-trip crowds and enjoy peaceful strolls through the cobblestone lanes. From Marktplatz, it’s easy to wander down to the lakefront or up to hillside viewpoints, with plenty of charming side streets to discover along the way. 🧭 Tip: If you’re staying overnight, take an evening walk around the square after dinner—it’s beautifully lit, and you’ll have the place almost to yourself.

It's a must visit when you travel to Austria! Hallstatt is a heaven on earth, a small town not too near to Austria but worths to visit… Hallstatt is known for its production of salt, dating back to prehistoric times, and gave its name to the Hallstatt culture, the archaeological culture linked to Proto-Celtic and early Celtic people of the Early Iron Age in Europe, c. 800–450 BC.

such a nice park especially for families and the best part is the zipline

I purchased a ticket, got the equipment and immediately understood it is not for me. I didn't use anything, didn't put on the equipment. Just gave it back asked for money back. They refused. And just to be clear, it is the policy of the owner, not of the people at the desk. I asked. Will never go here again and I recommend to stay away.

1. Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Why 12 year old girl, with climb experience, can't go by herself like in any other advantage park? 2. Most of the routes are closing at 4pm although the park is open until 5pm 3. Summer card discount - they won't mention it, and won't refund. 4. 15 euro fine for a rescue. 5. Mini route seems to us not safe.

What a wonderful experience! There is so much to do here from easy to the most difficult levels of adventures. It is not really possible to do it all in one day. It is quite reasonably priced if you just want to stay at the adventure park and don't want to go for the roller coaster. We paid half the price as the receptionist told us, in case we want to do the coaster we can pay the full price later. But we barely had time. We didn't miss anything about the coaster since we could barely finished 4 levels of difficulties in one full afternoon. The only problem is that there is no good place for food. At the reception you can get some cheap snacks and cold drinks.

Really exciting place for climbing, very safe, we love this place.
Marie D — Google review
The park is OK, no more. Very expensive. The service is horrible. Not responsive when there is a problem and not safe. A family before us entered a pass not suited for them. No help. At the entrance to the park there was a lot of poo, which was smeared all over the shoes and cables. Also a lot of resin. The staff was not nice at all. They are better park. For kids no so many passes. They close most of the passes 1 hour before closing. I don't recommend.

Excellent experience. A wonderful view and a place full of mountains, trees and breathtaking nature. I recommend taking only the zipline without the roller coaster. Slow and low in altitude. Regardless, the experience is much less scary than I expected. The zipline is a bit slow, but the view is worth it. They are very careful about safety and there is a guide at every station. You also get a kind of "passport" that they sign. It’s kinda cool. One of the most beautiful views I've ever seen.
Ruth B — Google review
Really feeling like flying with both a fantastic view and some thrill. Great experience and very competent operators.
Niels-Aage L — Google review
Looks more scary than it is. Anyway I can cordialy recommend this adrenalín which is worth of money. Hidden benefit is the bus ride up the station. The driver is crazy but skilled enough to make you wet while driving up almost on the edge of the road 😎
Lukáš Š — Google review
Must try experience. First timer. Didn't have time to look around during the fly. To exciting, adrenaline high, tiers in my eyes ( glasses recommended). Would go second time for sure. More relaxed now. My equipment was put by the instructor the wrong way . Noticed just before my fly. Double check as only one instructor did the job for 20 people. Staff is nice and polite with adults and children.
Saule S — Google review
It was fun but, I wasn't allowed to ride with the flying coaster because of overweight, even so I didn't get any refund. There is no possibility to buy tickets on site, you can only book online. What if you don't have any scale in your hotel room? I payed 26 euro more for nothing. I think it's not a customer friendly service.
Csaba B — Google review
The experience was absolutely amazing, excellent, and fun! At first, I only bought the Zipline ticket and skipped the Flying Coaster, but once I got there and started enjoying it so much, I decided to go for the full experience and paid for the Flying Coaster at the check-in counter. All the staff were extremely kind, helpful, and explained everything clearly. However, the older lady at the exit (responsible for the photos) was quite rude. When we asked her about our photos because we wanted to print them, she told us to go outside, check the screen, and come back with the number. When I returned and said I couldn’t find our photo, she was very unfriendly and said, “I don’t know your photo number, and I don’t have time to look for it!” Aside from this one staff member, the entire experience was wonderful and definitely worth it.
Rahaf S — Google review
When entering the web site they put at the end on the main page, after! The purchase button that there's a weight limit. A normal person will never see this. We just lost a ton of money and precious time. Also the lady at the counter was no where close to being understanding. These guys are not worth your money
Eldad S — Google review
Zipline is great adventure. Strongly recommended. It looks more terrifying than it is in reality when you are on the ride. The roller coaster after that is terrible however. I advise against it. It pulls you with force into unpredictable directions and you need all your arms to counter it. However the kids liked it.
