(Translated by Google) When the passion for one's work can be transmitted and enthuse children, then the winning formula has been found. We took our third grade students to an educational camp at Gli Albori. The patience and competence of Riccardo and his staff immediately left the children speechless for two days. The place is an oasis of peace capable of taking you back in time. Between excavations and a prehistoric village, moving on to archery and the creation of ancient artefacts. Listening to Riccardo's stories and the magical sound of horns and shells, time passed too quickly. Thanks Riccardo we hope to return again next year.

They made us feel at home, in a safe and very clean environment. The children were super excited about the experience. Highly recommended for third class students and not just for immersing themselves in prehistory. Thrilling! (Original) Un posto incantevole tra le colline toscane. Nestled in the charming main square of Radicofani, "Alimentari Pane e Companatico di Pusole Luisa" is a delightful deli that stands out as one of the village's top attractions. This family-run gem is not just about food; it’s an experience steeped in warmth and hospitality. The lovely owner, Silvana, crafts mouthwatering panini that you can savor while sitting on the quaint outdoor benches.
Oh wow. In a place like Tuscany, to stand out, you need to be special. This place is special. Just the most perfect little piazza, lined with flowers and oozing with charm. We had coffee and pastries, which were to die for. Not too expensive either. 6 cappuccinos and 5 pastries for 24 euros. Lovely lady serving too. Cannot recommend highly enough. To cap it all, a visit to the castle above afterwards was fabulous, but that's for another review
Stuart B — Google review
What a pleasant surprise! We came here around 15.30, quite hungry and since the grocery was supposed to open at 16.00 we decided to wait. What a good decision that was!!! Not only we got to try some of the best panini ever, home made panforte and wine, we also got to know the owner of the place! A fantastic woman that took really good care of us!!! We both felt we were part of the family when we left and that's very rare to happened. I never received such a great hospitality!! Super recommended!!!!

We just had a porchetta and pecorino sandwich and it was absolutely perfect. Very nice owner, super clean shop and on a perfect piazza.

Beautiful porchetta sandwich and actually a really nice espresso bonus for the good price!

We found this little shop in August during our Via Francigena trip. Today we came back to wish merry Christmas to amazing Mrs Silvana. Sadly, she said she would be closing the shop in next year. Hope she changes her mind and we meet her again in our next trip to Radicofani. If you are in town, this is a must seen place. She is very kind, giving lady. Like a mother she always offers food :)
Sagarmatha S — Google review
So lucky to have walked upon this gem! The proprietors stayed open for us to make sandwiches for our group of pilgrims walking along the via Francigena! This was a true #TrekEpic moment! We definitely hope to return another time! Long live Pane e Companatico!

Fortezza di Radicofani is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. The town boasts several notable buildings, including the Palazzo Pretorio, Chiesa di San Pietro, and Chiesa di Sant'Agata. The highlight of the visit is the Rocca di Radicofani, an old fortress turned into a well-known museum situated on a basalt rock offering stunning panoramic views of Val d'Orcia.
This is way off the beaten path, but the views from atop the tower, which sits on top of the mountain, are amazing.... It's 5 euros per person. The outside looks unkept, but the stairs in the tower are modern and solid.

One of our favorite castles to visit, with stunning views of Tuscany. The restaurant serves amazing dishes! We came back twice just for lunch and the views!

Very cool place to visit. Restaurant was fantastic too , food , mixed grill was next level tasty. Very friendly people.

Fortezza di Radicofani rises like a dream carved out of stone and wind. Standing on its walls, you don’t just see Tuscany — you feel it breathing below you, endless and alive. This isn’t a fortress. It’s a memory of courage, solitude, and sky — where history and silence meet on equal terms. Come at sunset, when the light turns gold and the hills melt into shadow. You’ll understand why some places don’t need words.

Tuscany - the blessed land. The vineyards and olives produce heavenly liquids, perfect for savouring on earth. Ciacci Piccolomini D’Aragona holds a special place in my heart. Paolo and his dedicated sommeliers will ensure an unforgettable experience in their beautiful vineyard. And if you’re a fan of Eroica and cycling, Paolo is your man. His museum will transport you back in time to one of the most beautiful sports there is!
Marcel W — Google review
Our visit to Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona was one of the absolute highlights of our time in Montalcino. From the moment we arrived, the setting took our breath away — rolling vineyards, peaceful views, and that perfect Tuscan charm you hope for when you dream of wine country. The tasting itself was fantastic, and Virginia made it even better. She was warm, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable — the kind of host who makes you feel like an old friend rather than just another visitor. Her explanations of each wine, the estate’s history, and how the local weather shapes the flavors were fascinating. And just when we thought the experience couldn’t get any better, she gave us a list of amazing local food recommendations that paired beautifully with the wines (and, yes, we tried them — she was spot on!). We left with full hearts, a few extra bottles in the car, and the feeling that we’d discovered something truly special. If you’re visiting Montalcino, don’t miss this place — and if you’re lucky enough to have Virginia as your guide, you’re in for a treat.
Drake M — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous views, friendly staff (shout out to Virginia), and fabulous olive oil and wine!
Kelsey — Google review
We had amazing time with Virginia. One of the best places to visit! Wine is so good we ordered for shipping!
Don M — Google review
The setting of this winery is epic, I highly recommend a visit. We had an amazing host who walked us through the wine and olive oil and history of the property. The only negative is that for us the prices per bottle + shipping didn’t justify a purchase to send home. The prices of most of the bottles on offer were higher than back home for the same bottle before the $70 shipping per six.
Daniel J — Google review
We had the best time visiting Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona - Virginia was incredible! She spoke wonderful English and taught us so much about the family history and the wine making process. She made it so fun and enjoyable. The tour and tasting was the best we've ever experienced - and we have traveled extensively to wine regions in both France and Italy. This one is top tier!
Emily K — Google review
Nice winery, nice tour. The wines are good, but not outstanding in my opinion. The guide was very friendly, and we had a great detailed discussion about the production.
Nikita K — Google review
We visited the winery on September 5th, placed an order, and immediately paid over 1,000 e. The package was supposed to be delivered within a week. Today, September 29th, the winery hasn't responded to sms, and neither the package nor the wine has arrived... scammers?

Historic church. Great 5 mile hike loop. Take coins for parking (2 euros per hour). With Casisano winery along the way. Definitely stop in if they are available for a tasting.
Ernie A — Google review
Lovely quiet area and nice olive trees but the whole visit was a disappointment because of the lady in the shop. She was very unpolite and as soon as I stepped inside the small shop she told me the shop will close in 2 minutes. It was 17.54. 🙄 I thought the whole place was open until 18.30. The abbey had a mass so we didn’t enter into it. The smell that came from that small shop was so good so it was a pity that I couldn’t buy anything.
Petra V — Google review
Definitely the most beautiful abbey in Italy! We've come here for at least 20 years. In the beginning there were almost no tourists. Now the way down is paved, paid parking and there even is a shop at the top of the hill..... But still it's the most beautiful abbey of Italy :-) Try to stay for a service when you're here.
Monique K — Google review
Truly beautiful Abbey. The electronic self guide is 7€ but we’ll worth the money. The view from the to of the Abbey is amazing. The shop is lovely too. We’ll worth an hour or two of your time for some valuable peace and tranquillity.
Charlie S — Google review
The Abbey, a jewel of medieval mysticism. It is one of the most beautiful monuments in an ancient Roman style, which also has elements of the French and Lombardy styles. Legend has it that the abbey was founded by Charles the Great in 781. The king and his army stopped here on the way back from Rome as the soldiers were afflicted by an unknown pestilence. An angel appeared to Charlemagne, telling him to make his men drink an infusion with a local herb. The cure worked and the army was saved so the king decided to build the church in gratitude.

Excelent wines and experience! The Somelier (forgot to ask her name, but she used to be a teacher) was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and lovable! We learned a lot from her! Banfi was my favorite. Wine tasting of 3 wines cost €25 which was a bit steep but the wines were pretty good. Came with bread sticks which were surprisingly good too. Waiter was meant to bring cheese but never came despite reminding them

Excelent wines and experience! The Somelier (forgot to ask her name, but she used to be a teacher) was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and lovable! We learned a lot from her! Banfi was my favorite. You can have the tasting either in or outside, so choose depending on the weather. Totally recommend it!

The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Biagio is a 16th-century domed church located in Montepulciano, Italy. The church overlooks the picturesque countryside and is surrounded by cypress-lined roads. Visitors can take a leisurely walk through Montepulciano, admiring historical palaces, churches, and Renaissance artwork along the main street.
In the heart of Tuscany, nestled among the rolling hills and vineyards, lies the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Biagio. This ancient church is perched atop a hill, overlooking the quaint town of Montepulciano, and has been a place of pilgrimage and worship for centuries. Legend has it that the sanctuary was built in the early 16th century after a shepherd boy had a vision of the Virgin Mary on this very spot. The boy claimed that she appeared to him in a bright light and spoke to him, telling him to build a church in her honor. The shepherd boy, along with the help of the townspeople, constructed the sanctuary, and it has been a sacred place ever since. As you approach the sanctuary, the first thing you notice is the grand staircase leading up to the entrance. The steps are made of marble and adorned with intricate carvings of angels and saints. At the top of the staircase, two massive wooden doors stand tall, welcoming all who come to visit. Once inside, the beauty of the sanctuary takes your breath away. The walls are painted in soft pastel colors, and the ceiling is adorned with elaborate frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible. The altar is the centerpiece of the church, with a statue of the Madonna di San Biagio standing proudly in the center. The statue is said to have miraculous healing powers, and many come to pray for loved ones who are sick or in need of help. The sanctuary is also home to a small chapel, where visitors can light candles and offer prayers. The walls of the chapel are lined with small plaques, each one a testament to a prayer answered. The atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility, and it is easy to see why people come from all over the world to seek solace in this sacred place. As you wander around the sanctuary, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder. The intricate details of the architecture, the beautiful artwork, and the peaceful atmosphere all come together to create a truly special place. It is no wonder that the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Biagio has become a popular destination for tourists and pilgrims alike. As the sun sets over the Tuscan countryside, the sanctuary takes on a whole new level of beauty. The warm glow of the setting sun illuminates the church, making it look as if it is glowing from within. It is a sight that will stay with you forever. The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Biagio is not just a church; it is a sacred place that holds a special meaning for all who visit. It is a place of peace, hope, and faith, and it will continue to be a beacon of light for generations to come.

Magnificent sanctuary of Renaissance art built between 1518 and 1545, made of blond stone and with harmonious lines, is attributed to Antonio da Sangallo the Elder, one of the finest architects of the period. The Temple of San Bagio was built away from the city, in a verdant valley, on the site of an ancient early Christian church dedicated to Mary. This location, in the heart of a superb landscape, underscores its grandeur. The origins of this church are linked to a miraculous event that occurred on April 23, 1518, when two servants, Antilia and Camilla, and a peasant named Toto, passing by a fresco depicting the Virgin and Child and Saint Francis, saw the Virgin open and close her eyes, as if she were alive. The central Greek cross plan of the Temple is crowned by a dome on a drum. The architecture of the bell tower plays on alternating forms : decreasing heights, straight lines and curves ; it is topped by an eight-sided pyramid. The solemn interior houses, near the high altar, a lectern made by Giannozzo and Lisandro di Pietro Albertini in 1584, as well as, in the niches, statues of saints sculpted by Ottaviano Lazzarini in 1617. Pope Leo X himself came to inaugurate this monumental church, conceived as an ancient temple, and considered one of the most accomplished achievements of Christian architecture of the Tuscan Renaissance. The presbytery in front of the church was also designed by Sangallo and built around 1550 and is characterized by a double loggia. The well in front of the building was erected between 1550 and 1551 and originally had two columns with a travertine architrave. In short, a 16th-century Tuscan masterpiece not to be missed during a visit to Montepulciano.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Biagio (Tempio di San Biagio) is a truly charming and peaceful place. We didn’t go inside as there was a €5 entrance fee, but even from the entrance area, the beauty of the structure and its surroundings was clear. The view over the Tuscan hills is absolutely stunning and adds to the special atmosphere of the site. Parking was simple and accessible, making the visit smooth and pleasant. A lovely and worthwhile stop, even for a short visit.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Biagio is absolutely stunning and a must-visit when in Montepulciano! This Renaissance masterpiece is over 500 years old, and standing before it, you can truly feel the weight of that incredible history. The church’s architecture is breathtaking – from its elegant travertine facade to its perfectly proportioned design, it’s a testament to the artistry and devotion of another era. The setting is equally magnificent, sitting gracefully just outside the town with beautiful views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or simply seeking a moment of peace and reflection, this sanctuary delivers on every level. Don’t miss this gem – it’s one of those places that reminds you why Tuscany is so special. An unforgettable experience!

The admission to the church is 3.5 euros, and it includes a 20 minutes audio guide, which is well worth it. If you stand in the middle of the circle on the ground and clap, only you would hear it echos back for 20 times :)

We had opted for the little red golf cart Montepulciano tour and unfortunately our first stop was right when the church had closed, so rather than be smug about it, we bellied up to the little cafe/bar on the corner and enjoyed the views from outside. Another amazing church in Italy.

Nestled in the heart of Montepulciano, Contucci is a charming family-run winery that boasts a rich history dating back to the Renaissance. This historic establishment not only offers delightful wine tastings and tours but also immerses visitors in the artistic heritage of its surroundings. The winery is situated near stunning palaces like Palazzo Contucci and Palazzo del Capitano, creating an enchanting atmosphere steeped in culture.
If you’re visiting Montepulciano, make sure to stop by Piazza Grande, where you’ll find one of the town’s traditional wineries with historic underground cellars, where the famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano matures. The visit to the cellars is free of charge and definitely worth your time – you’ll walk through centuries-old tunnels where the wine ages in oak barrels. After the tour, you can enjoy a tasting of a wide selection of wines, guided by friendly and knowledgeable staff who are happy to explain everything and help you choose the perfect bottle or souvenir from this beautiful region. It’s a wonderful way to experience the local wine culture and take home a true taste of Montepulciano.

Our favourite winery in Montepulciano! Amazing wines, a wonderful family, a beautiful palazzo and a fascinating history of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. They still do the production in the palazzo in the Centro Storico.
Stuart H — Google review
Self guided tour was excellent. No reservation necessary. Lots to see, today not crowded. At end or tour you can sample Rosso di Montepulciano, if interested in purchasing they let you sample three of their Nobile selections. We weren't purchasing so we went to the cantina where we were greeted warmly by Giacomo. We purchased the flight of five wines and charcuterie, they even had very good gluten free bread for my wife; with local oil of course. The Pecorino we had today trumped, by far, the four or more other places we have visited from San Gimignao, Monteriggioni and Montalcino. Favorite wine of the tasting, the Reserva of course. The Palazzo Contucci was a very good blend of the Mulinvecchio and Pietra Rossa. We have officially added Nobile to our list of wines to continue to learn about and enjoy.
John F — Google review
We visited Contucci in their cellar right in the center of town. The experience was interesting, but similar to many wineries in the area. The wines are good, but not exceptional — certainly worth a visit if you’re in town, but not the highlight of the region. 🍷

The store clerk was very friendly and provided great service. She also recommended me three different red wines, which were really delicious. Thank you.

In the wine shop they don't offer paid tastings. You can sample one wine and then you have to purchase a bottle in order to try two more. Prices from 20-40€ per bottle. You can go upstairs for a full tasting and food in their cafe.
Extra T — Google review
The oldest wineries in the area and it’s so wonderful. You can walk in on your own and then go to the tasting upstairs. If you know the time you’ll be in the area you can plan a tour and stay.

Absolutely worth a visit if you are spending a day in Montepulciano. We walked in and were told to tour the cellars at our own pace. A beautiful space and all the better when you can take your time and snap a few pics! We stopped into the entrance room where we received an extensive tasting (available for free if you interested in purchasing one or more bottles!). Ariana was very sweet and took her time explaining the differences between the wines and all the vino nobiles were delicious!! Walked away with a half dozen bottles and a great experience.

Cathedral Saint Mary Of The Assumption

Cathedral Saint Mary of the Assumption, located in Piazza Grande, is a must-see attraction in Montepulciano. The cathedral features an impressive interior with notable artworks such as the 'Madonna del Pilastro' by Sano di Pietro and a triptych by Taddeo di Bartolo depicting the Assumption of the Virgin.
⛪ Relatively small cathedral but so beatiful. Padua Cathedral, or Basilica Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption (Italian: Duomo di Padova; Basilica Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta), is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and the cathedral located on the east end of Piazza Duomo, adjacent to the Bishop's palace, in Padua, region of Veneto, Italy. The cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, is the seat of the bishop of Padua. The church building, first erected as seat of a bishop of the diocese in the 4th century, has undergone major reconstructions over the centuries. The present church is the third structure built on the same site. The first cathedra was erected after the Edict of Milan in 313 and destroyed by an earthquake on 3 January 1117. It was rebuilt in Romanesque style: the appearance of that medieval church can be seen in the frescoes by Giusto de' Menabuoi in the adjoining baptistery. The current building dates from a reconstruction during the sixteenth century. While in the past the design was attributed to Michelangelo, it was performed rather by Andrea della Valle and Agostino Righetto, and has much in common with earlier Paduan churches. Construction began on the new Renaissance building in 1551 and went on for two centuries, being completed in 1754, yet leaving the façade unfinished. ⛪ Diğerleri ile karşılaştırdığımızda biraz küçük bir katedral ama çok güzel.

Compared to many Duomos in Tuscany, this one was a bit disappointing. The altarpiece was gone. In its place went a canvas, possibly due to restoration work, on which you could see what it looked like. For me the best thing about this Duomo was the contrast, the outside and the inside

If you are climbing to the top of town for this - don’t bother. Facade was never finished. The interior decoration was never started. A massive space with the right hand side the most interesting.

Piazza Grande is the heart of Montepulciano, a stunning medieval square surrounded by Renaissance architecture, including the Palazzo Comunale and Duomo of Montepulciano. Its origins date back to the 14th century, and it has long been a symbol of civic pride and Tuscan elegance. Film fans will recognize it as a key location in Twilight: New Moon, where the dramatic Volturi scenes were shot - adding a cinematic layer to its timeless beauty. Whether you're here for the history or the Hollywood connection, Piazza Grande is a must-see in southern Tuscany.

Montepulciano is a medieval hilltop town in Tuscany, Italy. Surrounded by vineyards, it’s known for its vino nobile red wine. The Torre di Pulcinella is a clock tower topped by a figure of the Pulcinella, a commedia dell’arte character. On the Piazza Grande is the 14th-century Palazzo Comunale, with a tower offering views of the surrounding countryside. Also here is the Duomo, with a huge triptych above its altar.
Ege A — Google review
Montepulciano’s Piazza Grande is a solid mix of history, Renaissance architecture, and tourists trying to find the perfect selfie angle. The main attraction? Aside from the impressive Palazzo Comunale and the cathedral, it’s the town’s famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano - a red wine 🍷so well regarded that even popes were fans. It was also the filmed location for the Vampire series - Twilight. 🧛 Climb the town hall tower for a great view (if you don’t mind the steps), or just grab a glass of Vino Nobile and enjoy the square from ground level. Either way, it’s worth the visit, just be ready for some uphill walking.

Talosa - Cantina Storica is a historic winery located within the city walls, seamlessly integrated into the old town center and carved into the very stone on which the city was built. It offers a fantastic wine tasting experience suitable for both enthusiasts and novices. The presentation includes valuable tips for first-time attendees, showcasing the cantina's commitment to engaging with its audience and sharing expertise. The wine selection is impressive, and the building itself is truly remarkable.
In the center of the town of Montepulciano this winery makes it’s wine in underground storage facility. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a flight of four wines, and two aperitivos. Wines were very good will order soon!

In Montepulciano's center, this winery has an extensive underground wine cave that is very cool and in temperature, too. Free tasting and great wine. Staff was so nice. It's worth the trip down the stairs to see the big barrels of wine. We did buy a bottle of the 2020. It was very smooth.

Talosa – Cantina Storica is a truly atmospheric and captivating winery. The historic cellars are easily accessible and well worth a visit. While formal tastings require a reservation, the staff are welcoming at the reception and will gladly let you sample any of their wines. Their Vino Nobile may not be the region’s absolute pinnacle, but it is well-crafted, elegant, and definitely deserving of attention. A memorable stop for any wine enthusiast. 🍷

What an incredible experience!!! A must if you visit Montepulciano. You descend strait down into the ancient cellar’s built on top of 6th century Etruscan tomb. The Food was incredible and the wine exquisite. Once in a life time experience! Wow!

It was raining and a bit cold the day we toured the city so it was great to be indoors sampling some great wine. The self guided cellar tour was amazing.
Dana W — Google review
The winery tour was a lot more rushed and basic than the other 2 that I did in the area. On the other hand, it was only my party which was nice and private. After the rushed tour, the guide was very talkative about other things related to the winery and process, and answered all of our questions which was nice. The wine tasting itself was less structured than the others, but it was still good. We paid extra for a food pairing, but it was the same meat and cheese board the other 2 tastings included at no additional cost.
Brian T — Google review
We paid 52 euros per person for tasting and lunch. The wine was good, but the hot food they served was really bad. Everything mixed with bread, four dishes in total gave us a heartburn. Basically, every dish has 75 % of bread in them Service was good, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We advise to have lunch somewhere else, no doubt.

Cantina Ercolani in Montepulciano offers a unique experience with its underground city, featuring Gothic-Renaissance passages, hidden crypts, and Etruscan tombs. The cellar also houses small museums showcasing the history of viticulture. Visitors can enjoy a free wine tasting at Azienda Agricola Ercolani's shop in the city center or opt for a more extensive tasting experience in the underground city.
We had an excellent experience visiting this winery! The tour was fascinating and very well organized, with clear explanations about the different types of wine and the winemaking process. At the end, we got to enjoy a tasting of 4–5 different wines, all for free – which was such a pleasant surprise. There was absolutely no pressure to buy anything, but honestly, their wines are so good that it’s worth getting a few bottles to take home. Highly recommended!

We joined the free underground guided tour through the wine cellar, and it was very nice, interesting experience. Our female guide has knowledge and enthusiasm sharing information about the town’s history. She also described both the production of their various wines and the unique ways they are aged and stored. It was also very nice to see (on short movie) how the barrels are cleaned. Our tour ended with a free tasting of their own 5 wines, served with delicious local snacks. Every wine was excellent. I highly recommend! Very nice experience and fulfillment of visiting Montepulciano.

Very informative and interesting tour. Very knowledgeable staff who knows their wine and cheese. Excellent and fascinating tour and no pressure to buy. I have purchased a selection of their wines and can confirm that it's delicious. Sangiovese has long been a favourite wine of mine but understanding it and drinking it in its home environment is special.

My wife and I did the “Montepulciano Special” tour and wine tasting. The underground city is a cool tour where our guide kindly walked us through the wine making process, how it differs for the different wines, and showed us their many barrels. The underground city even has an old Etruscan tomb in it. After the tour we went to a beautifully renovated arcade area where we were served tasty local specialties as we sipped on a generous number of wines and vin santo as our guide described their differences. They gave us a sheet for notes that also had prices for each bottle on it, which made it easier to order a case. Prices included shipping to the US. You can order any mix of bottles in a case. Great experience. They do offer free tastings if you walk in as well.

I love this opperation. There is no shortage of wine spots in the area but they offer free tours in English and Italian. The tour is really cool, informative and not too long. After the tour they gave us a tasting of 7 wines and sampling of food they sell. We had a big group and they did an amazing job catering to the group. Our tour guide Orsolina was amazing and funny. We ended up buying a case because we enjoyed the wine and wanted to share with friends in the States... but they don't pressure you to buy. It's a great experience for any wine lover
Stephanie S — Google review
The best free activity to do in town. The odds were on our favor this day. We decided to spend the day here with the intention of leaving at a certain time to watch the sunset from another town. Yada yada yada - we ended up watching the sunset here instead. That’s how we ended up doing the last tour. We had just finished watching the sunset where that piece of Dalí is. We were walking back in to the city center when we saw people lingering at the entrance. Turns out we had just made it in time for the last tour of the day. The vibes were right as soon as we walked in. There were some Filipinos working. We really do be everywhere. Orsolina led us downstairs where she proceeded to give us one of the best tours I’ve ever joined. She was informative, engaging and so funny. We all loved the anecdotes. She kept asking if we understood her diction which was funny cos she spoke English better than native speakers. The tour itself was super fun. We all learned so much. The tour ended upstairs in their tasting room where we were all given a one person charcuterie board that had the tastiest goodies. I ate it all and then some. I ended up drinking my sister’s serving since she’s not a drinker. My friends ended up buying oil and some vino. My sister got a whole case that she had shipped back home. Highly recommended. Would for sure partake the next time I’m in town.
Julie D — Google review
Amazing place with very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate people. In the free tour the owner told us about the history of the town and made it very engaging with quizzes where you won little prizes such as a small bottle of their wine. Then we were shown around the underground area and explained by the very knowledgeable young woman how their different wines were made which was very interesting. I was surprised at how much history there was and how complex some of the processes could be. Then we got a chance to taste 5 different wines they made with some delicious local snacks. We ended up buying many bottles because the wines were so exceptional, but there was no pressure at all from the staff to buy anything (although of course in my opinion it would be rude not to after a free tour). Overall easily one of the beat experiences in our Tuscany holiday and I would highly recommend.

A really wonderful place to have a free tasting of the local wines, spices & dips. They give you a little food pairing too which was wonderful! You can go for no charge to the underground area which is huge! Layers of artifacts, wine barrels, a tomb etc. Fun to see & worth a tour! Highly recommend this wine shop.

With four inviting hot pools to choose from, visitors can easily spend an entire day soaking while enjoying the tranquil surroundings. It's advisable to bring along essentials like a robe and flip-flops for comfort.
So stunning and warm! It doesn’t smell the best cause of the sulphur but you don’t think about it after a while. It’s free and there’s plenty of parking on the road nearby.

I spent a few days here and there’s a few things to know: -it’s a little run down so don’t expect anything high end or fancy -that being said, it’s very laid back and easy -there are 4 different pools and they are nice and hot -bring a book and a snack and stay the whole day. -bring a robe, flip flops and a good towel There is also the public hot springs next door which is free and a very different vibe, but if you want to keep soaking after 5:30 then head on over for the party 😉
Anna S — Google review
I don’t know about this currently closed spa, but the hot springs 50 meters away are free and pleasant. Take water shoes or flip-flops and be careful walking down to the pools. Parking is free along the street. There is construction and refurbishment happening which is loud but an early morning soak is highly recommended for sore muscles. The water gets hot: between 42-47C degrees
Michelle I — Google review
There are two options right next to each other to enjoy the hot springs; -the free baths without any facilities at all. Some folks were topless, it seemed busy, the grounds are rough terrain and water-shoes are necessary. -the terme baths next to it with showers, lockers, WC, changing rooms and vending machines for beverages. This option costs €15 p.p. The website says there are rental bathrobes at €5 but they were out when we arrived, as well as the locks for the lockers. TIP: bring your own bathrobe, slippers, body-wash, towels and a padlock The bistro across the street didn’t serve anything of the menu because they had no kitchen staff. Pack a lunch!!
Leonie W — Google review
If you are around, take some minutes or more and jump in the hot pools. Its for free and not maintained. Free parking along the road before and after the commercial thermal bath. Be aware that there are no showers or dressing rooms and the water has a sulfur smell 😊 you can refresh in the river and at the street some sellers are offering refreshments and food. Enjoy
Christian K — Google review
There are two baths - one free, one paid. The free part is as local as it gets, you can hop in even after dark with local hippies drinking beers and camping directly on the river. I suppose it's not for the fancy people. The paid part seems to be quite fancy. Lot pf campers, if you do decide to camp say in a car just watch out, there might be occasional break-ins.
Filip Š — Google review
A beautiful, unique spot! A few meters right of the official thermal bath is a a little forest that gives public access to the river with its hot thermal water! Do take your water shoes and come after 19:00 to enjoy the place without crowds!
CPS V — Google review
Nice place with lots of italian families. We felt part of a very open space. Old Italian men, German campers, families, nudes and free spirits with dogs all together. It wasn’t too crowded, so we could enjoy a pool for ourself. The water is nice hot (and smelly), the sun shines through the trees and the river nearby is good to wash off after the hottub. Very relaxing and soothing free spa. Just park the car along the street, it’s free and there is plenty of space for privacy

Nestled near Siena, the charming town of Asciano is a gem along the banks of the River Ombrone, surrounded by the stunning Crete Senesi landscape. This area, known for its unique clay hills and striking contrasts between barren land and lush fields of grains and sunflowers, offers a picturesque view that feels quintessentially Tuscan yet distinctively different. The town's rich history is reflected in its remarkable architecture, including the 11th-century Basilica of St.
Idyllic Tuscan scenery right off the postcards. It's like a green sheet was thrown onto the hilly landscape. Drive through on the curvy roads, it's a great experience. Make sure to stop after Asciano for a sneak peak onto Agriturismo Baccoleno

What can I say. A gorgeous place you must not miss if you pass by. So beautiful, do peaceful. Great to unwind and be in peace with... the world
Max C — Google review
The Crete Senesi refers to an area of the Italian region of Tuscany to the south of Siena. It consists of a range of hills and woods among villages and includes the comuni of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme and San Giovanni d'Asso, all within the province of Siena. Crete senesi are literally ‘Senese clays’, and the distinctive grey colouration of the soil gives the landscape an appearance often described as lunar. This characteristic clay, known as mattaione, represents the sediments of the Pliocene sea which covered the area between 2.5 and 4.5 million years ago. Nearby is also the semi-arid area known as the Accona Desert. Perhaps the most notable edifice of this area is the monastery of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. The region is known for its production of white truffles, and hosts a festival and a museum dedicated to the rare fungus (genus Tuber).

We are travelling in our motor home and stayed in sasso pisano for 3 days. We were fortunate to have had use of the pool facilities during our stay. The pool and associated relaxing areas were clean and well presented and staff were fantastic. Local residents were welcoming and friendly. The pool is heated by geothermic energy to a temperature of a hot bath and has a cooling pool of a slightly lower temperature. All in all an absolutely brilliant facility and experience.

Actually such a lovely surprise to find such a gem in this quiet little town. Well worth the visit to this modern swimming pool, where you do have the choice between the natural pool or the artificial one! They have a bar onsite and meals can be ordered from a place nearby. Sasso Pisano is a lovely little town too.
Karen S — Google review
Great natural swimming pool with water from the hot springs in the area. There is a warm pool (36 degrees celcius) connecting into a colder pool, and finally a very nice natural lake where you can swim. There are shower facilities and a snack bar. Swimming caps are a must, but can be bought on site. You have an excellent view of Sasso Pisano's medieval old town towering on the rocks above you.

Cool swimming pools with warm water, similar to thermae, generated with geothermal power. Price is by hour and very low. There are two modern swimming pool with different temperatures and one natural pond with water lilies and autoctone plants and animals. There is a bar, sunchairs and parasol. A lovely place where to spend a day of relax.

Tiny lovely place with mixed geo-thermal water, next to a picturesque village nested on a big rock (Sasso Pisano). Can get crowded on summer weekends

Terme San Giovanni is a tranquil hotel located in the beautiful countryside of Rapolano Terme, amidst the picturesque landscapes of Crete Senesi. The deluxe rooms offer spacious and renovated accommodations with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy various pools, including a private one exclusively for hotel guests, as well as spa treatments such as massages. The on-site restaurant, cafe, and bistro provide delicious dining options.
Amazing experience! Place is huge , lots of extra stuff like water/ tea and fruit all throughout. Staff are amazingly accommodating and pleasant. Spa coordinator was going above and beyond to resolve our issue of double booking that booking.com can NOT,( have not confirmed the refund ) The view view the infinity pool specially during sunset was marvelous it adds to the fantastic scenery. My young adult kids loved their facials and the many options on where to soak. We as a family collectively wants to go back. Dinner was deliciously crafted my monk fish specially. We am more relaxed and rejuvenated leaving this place so that’s worth my expense.

Beautiful thermal baths with relaxing pools, perfect water temperature, and a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. Staff are very friendly and everything is well organized. The only drawback was the showers — they switch off every 30 seconds and the cabins are a bit small. Still, a wonderful place to relax and I’d be happy to return! 🌿✨

Used the day spa services. I have been three times this year since we live fairly close. The spa offers different pools and lovely grounds with different types of chairs and umbrella options to relax. The half day pass is a bargain at 15 euros. Be sure to bring your own flip flops or water sandals and robe or towel. no street shoes allowed outside of locker rooms. Daily use includes free lockers showers blow dryers etc. I have booked various massages and massage staff are all very professional. Front desk staff helpful and some can speak English. Easy selection of fresh salads in casual lunch restaurant. Reasonably priced. Overall a good way to spend the day in Tuscany.

This place is definitely worth visiting. The mineral pools are so great for your health. Everything was positive. The reception was welcoming and friendly, the facilities were clean and in good condition. We had a fantastic time and it is so affordable. The 15 euro morning pass was more than enough time for us and included so many pools and stunning views.

Pretty place, but honestly the worst massage I’ve ever had. I’m not even sure it was a real masseuse or just someone hired. I’ll be booking a proper deep tissue massage when I’m back home. My friend had one too and felt the same way. I would not book a massage here. 3 stars over how terrible the massage was
Kaylee W — Google review
We went for a girls trip, highly recommend. Facilities where great, staff very friendly and everything in general I would say was high quality. Food and cocktails are very good and the treatment list has fair pricing. Really recommend if you are looking for some relax and peace of mind!
Rebecca M — Google review
Great place with a beautiful view for a reasonable price. On a cold day, the temperature of the water is comfortable in the covered pool and in the first external pool. The further away you go from the covered pool, the lower the temperature of the water. A bit crowded on weekends.
Tancred G — Google review
We did a non-VIP day spa visit on a cloudy day in October (19°C). We arrived around noon, rented robes walked around the facility. The pools and sunbeds were not busy. The water temperature varies from pool to pool so the warm and hot pools were the only ones in use. By mid afternoon the indoor pool (hottest) was crowded. Based on visits to thermal spas in Iceland, Budapest and Canada, the facilities are mid-range but the presence of significant silt on the bottom of the pools was disconcerting. At times it felt like walking through muck, and the water is very milky so you can't see your feet/the bottom of the pool. Also, we weren't informed at the check in desk that you get access to the saunas only with the VIP ticket as they are located on the hotel side. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way for this spa.

Terme Antica Querciolaia is a vast wellness complex featuring both outdoor and indoor pools, as well as offering spa treatments and a restaurant. The Parco dell'Acqua of Rapolano, located nearby, showcases sculptures made of travertine by various Italian and international artists. Visitors can book tickets online to secure lounges in the shade, although plenty of spaces are usually available without prior booking.
We came on a Wednesday, Summer day and only went for the pools and sunbathing, not to stay at the hotel. We brought our own towels, shoes and change of clothes. It was perfect for our visit. Multiple pools offered a nice variety to choose from. We have two children, 8 & 10 years old boys and saw multiple other children, but saw plenty of single adults. Since the facility is so large with multiple pools, I felt there were several options for peace and tranquility, sunbathing or family fun. The water temperature was perfect and even offered a refreshing cool shower right outside of the pool. We ate at the cafe and left with iced coffee togo on our trip back to our Air BnB. Front desk was kind and facility was clean! Would recommend!

25 euros for a full day and 21 for half day (until 14). This is the basic thermal pools, nothing fancy - but we super enjoyed ourselves. Cafeteria prices weren’t too high, but it’s better to prepare food/snacks in advance. Really recommend!

Terme Antica Querciolaia has a whopping eight pools! Six of them are outdoor thermal pools, and the other two are indoor pools. These pools are all part of the spa’s lovely park, and they’re filled with natural thermal waters packed with minerals. An absolute treat for your skin, airways and brain. The indoor restaurant offers excellent meals and great Italian coffees.
Marcel W — Google review
We visited the hot springs for the day with family and two kids, age 3&5. All of us had a great time, mainly in the outdoor pools. Sun beds are free and lockers are 2 euro deposit. The place was beautiful, and very clean. Had lunch at the cafe, which was great, taste and price wise.
Sheli A — Google review
Its huge area includes many differently sized open pools, filled with constantly pouring in hot minerals-rich water. If you’re next to a pipe you get kind of stream massage. While I was wandering in the pools, my wife took a therapeutic mud treatment and later joined me in the pool. The atmosphere is naturally very relaxing. And it is just 40 min drive from Siena.
Dmitri R — Google review
Took the day pass to the thermal pools. The pools were relaxing and warm. Additional pay was needed to enjoy a sauna for some reason.

The Saltalbero Adventure Park is an addictive place for kids aged 7 and 4. The adventure begins with a brief stroll where one can spot rabbits hopping around. The park staff provides instructions on using the safety harness for those opting for a genuine adventure, while others can freely explore the wilderness. Initially scared, both children overcame their fears after completing the introductory level and became hooked on the experience.
Great place It is a shame that the bar was closed on Sunday. However the park staff was very nice and helpful and even gave us coffee, 😊☕

We LOVE this place! Our 3 children ages 12, 10, and 6 all have a great time, and even my husband and I have fun! We have been 3 times and it’s always a fun outing. The employees are always very nice and they all speak Italian and English very well. We have also been there before for a birthday party and that was very well organized.

Sights & Landmarks
Siena Cathedral, also known as the Duomo, is a 13th-century marvel renowned for its striking facade with symbolic black and white marble stripes. It stands as the main place of worship in Siena and dominates the city's skyline alongside the Torre del Mangia. The cathedral has a rich history, originally built to replace a church dedicated to Mary on a site that was once a temple for the worship of Minerva.
A wonderful example of religious expression and indulgence. Stories on the walls floors and ceilings with records of cardinals pope's and others. Puts II and III lived in a prosperous time and rewarded each other with a designated library. Wonderful construction and artworks. The floor which is usually covered, was bare for all to see.

Siena Cathedral is one of the most breathtaking religious sites in Italy - a true gem of Gothic architecture and medieval artistry. From the moment you arrive, the striped marble façade and intricate sculptures command attention, blending elegance with grandeur. Inside, the cathedral is a treasure trove of art and history. You’ll find works by Michelangelo, Donatello, and the stunning pulpit by Nicola Pisano, each piece telling a story of devotion and craftsmanship. The Piccolomini Library, with its vibrant Renaissance frescoes, is a must-see highlight. If you're up for it, the Gate of Heaven tour lets you walk above the nave and enjoy panoramic views of the cathedral’s interior - an unforgettable experience. Built between the 12th and 14th centuries, the Duomo was originally intended to be even larger, but plans were halted by the Black Death in 1348. What remains is a powerful symbol of Siena’s ambition and artistic legacy. Whether you're an art lover, history enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, Siena Cathedral is a must-visit. Allow at least a couple of hours to take it all in - you won’t regret it.

A splendid cathedral, richly decorated inside. We hadn't bought tickets online, but lined up outside to buy tickets. The view of the cathedral from the square outside is fantastic. But what set it apart for us was the inside. The floors are covered in inlaid marble (I believe some of it is usually covered, but it wasn't when we were there), and there are many other fantastic pieces of art. Don't miss the small library to the side, also fantastic. Afterwards we spent some time in the gift shop - it is pretty good.

A beautiful cathedral with beautiful artwork. It was reasonably old and had a bit of history to it as well. Tickets to see the cathedral was roughly 5 euros, but even the most expensive ticket to the museum, cathedral, and baptistry was the price of admission of a church in Florence, and was definitely reasonably priced. The biggest thing is that if you come from the town square, you will see the baptistry first, which is NOT where the ticket office or the cathedral is, and you need to climb either the stairs or get to the cathedral's square. Overall, was definitely worth seeing and was worth the day trip I took from Florence to see it.

A fabulous experience! Make sure though, that if you’re booking tickets in advance you are doing it for the one on SIENA, not FIRENZE. They look similar, but are in fact different. We got to go into the cathedral, museum (with the panoramic view), crypt, and baptistery. All very beautiful.

You look at this cathedral and the details of its construction and you wonder, how did they do this 800 years ago? (the cathedral was built in 1215). You definitely have to visit this cathedral. The entrance fee is €8 per person, but it's well worth it. The interior of this cathedral is something unimaginable.

Really just to say that I agree with the great majority of reviewers: Siena Cathedral is absolutely worth visiting. It looks great from the outside, perched on its hill, but the interior is even more impressive, with black and white stripes throughout. The ticket queue was quite long, so if you know ahead of time when you will be going it would make sense to book ahead.

Piazza del Campo, also known as 'Il Campo', is a medieval square in Siena that has been the city's social center since the 12th century. The paving of the square is divided into nine sectors representing the ruling Consiglio dei Nove. It is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors, with cafes around its perimeter offering great spots for coffee and aperitivi.
A truly beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere. Piazza del Campo is the heart of Siena – a unique medieval square that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Stunning architecture, plenty of cafés and restaurants where you can sit and soak it all in. The best time to visit is in the evening, when the square comes alive and is beautifully lit. Definitely one of the most charming squares in Europe.

A historic spot in a Beautiful city. A great spot to sit & people watch, have a bite to eat or an apertivi! There is a Pharmacy, shopping, restaurants, gelato and much more right in the square. A beautiful city to walk around and explore!

Piazza del Campo is one of the most stunning and unique squares in all of Italy truly the heart and soul of Siena. The moment you step into the piazza, you’re surrounded by incredible medieval architecture, warm terracotta colors, and a sense of history that feels alive in every corner. The square’s distinctive shell shape makes it unlike any other in the world, and it’s beautifully designed to draw your eyes toward the majestic Palazzo Pubblico and its famous Torre del Mangia. It’s a wonderful place to sit, relax, and soak in the authentic Tuscan atmosphere. You can enjoy a coffee, gelato, or a glass of wine at one of the many cafés and restaurants that line the square, while watching people go by or admiring the view. During sunset, the light gives the buildings a golden glow that’s absolutely magical. Piazza del Campo is also famous for hosting the Palio di Siena, the traditional horse race that takes place twice a year an event full of excitement, tradition, and passion that truly represents the spirit of the city. Whether you visit for the history, the architecture, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere, Piazza del Campo is a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s one of those rare spots where time seems to slow down, allowing you to experience the true beauty and charm of Siena.

A visit to Siena isn't complete without seeing Piazza del Campo. This enormous piazza sits at the center of the town and is lined with fantastic bars and restaurants. It's common to see people relaxing in the square, enjoying a moment to read or reflect. We grabbed some happy hour drinks and spent our time watching the mix of tourists and locals pass through.

What a place, this must be one of the best original urban squares ever. A photo taken a 100 years ago would probably look very much the same. Siena is such a beautiful town, if you are in Tuscany go and see for yourself. Love it.

We had a great day in Siena; you need a few hours walking through the alleys to see how beautiful the city is. Weekdays are definitely quieter than weekends. If you plan to visit Siena, try to do it between Monday and Thursday.
Clovis C — Google review
A very visually and spatially stunning place to visit. The color of the buildings around the piazza and the floor really set the scene of the place. It was rich and strong. A bit crowded with a lot of people sitting around and some people would sell you stuffs. Not the safest place you can sit back and relax. It was fairly safe and lovely place to visit.

Raquel M — Google review

Flo Y — Google review

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Mura di Monteriggioni - Camminamento Nord offers a delightful glimpse into medieval history. This charming village is encircled by a 500-meter-long wall, making it one of the smallest yet most picturesque towns you'll encounter. As you stroll along its ancient walkways, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape dotted with vineyards and rolling hills.
Very beautiful, cute, small town with a nice wall around their little city. Lots of wine fields and amazing lookouts. you Can take many memorable photos xxxx
Lili 2 — Google review
I think it'd be a shame to come to Monteriggioni and not climb on the walkway of the old walls. I believe we paid Euro 6 or 7 each, and that gave us access to the small but well-documented museum (it has a lot of the history of the place as well the reconstruction of some of the structures and the armors). If I remember well it has write ups both in English and Italian. Plus, you get to walk on the 2 sections of walkways. Some of the low-score reviews for the walls point to the fact that one walkway was closed, but even if only one was accessible it would have been worth it to me. The views of the countryside and of the town, the atmosphere, the architectural details of the walls....beautiful.
Valerio V — Google review
Lovely quiet town atop a small hill. Beautiful scenery with rolling hills around. Highly recommend the checking out the small museum as it comes with the fee to walk the walls. Just enough information to feel like you learned a bit without miles of text. Gelato always hits the spot. Paid and free parking just below the hill, reasonably priced at 2 euro for 90 minutes or so. A must see town!
Evan S — Google review
Scam! You have to be lucky to visit the top of the wall. Mostly on Monday (whole day) and Friday (in the morning) IN THEORY. We went there on a Friday at 11am and it was already closed. There are many more beautiful places with even better view in the toscana area than Monteriggioni.

This cute little village stole my heart. With an around 500 meters long wall around it it’s probably the smallest village I’ve ever seen. But we found everything we were looking for there. The scenery around the village is absolutely beautiful! You can climb up the wall and have a great view around. When we were there there was a little market with handmade things were we found a beautiful ring - which I am wearing everyday since today (at least for 3 years now). I absolutely recommend to stop here for a while!

Visitors can embark on the captivating Colorino tour, exploring both the vineyard and winery while being guided by a passionate expert. The tasting sessions feature a delightful array of wines, from younger reds and whites to exquisite dessert wines paired with cantuccini. The family-friendly atmosphere is complemented by a clean, minimalist restaurant that boasts an extensive menu catering to diverse palates.
Delicious food. A very family friendly environment with a clean minimalist style restaurant, and a numerous menu options for a variety of tastes. We loved the Chianti the whites were delicious too. I also took home a bottle of their dessert wine which was fantastic. Visit the castle on the hill if you get a chance as well.

Everything was perfect, we loved our experience here! My mother and I took the colorino tour. The tour of the vineyard and the winery were really interesting, the guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. Everything we tasted was great. I personally loved the younger red and white wine, while my mother preferred the old red, everything is great and it's just a matter of taste. We both loved the dessert wine and the cantuccini. We would love to come back, spend more time here (we had to leave in a hurry to catch the bus) and share this experience with other loved ones! Thank you for your passion and care!
Joyce M — Google review
We visited the winery today and were not too impressed. We didn’t have a reservation and we felt lucky they were able to accommodate us inside for the 15€ wine tasting, not really the case. We got a very rushed description of the wines we could choose from (you can pick 3) without any written description, menu or similar. The wine servings were quite generous and all 3 wines were fairly good (least favorite was the rosé). We didn’t get an appetizer of any kind with the wine. They were preparing the room for an event and we felt quite rushed, whole thing lasted probably around 30 minutes. In summary, maybe it would have been better for them to tell us they could not take us without a reservation.

We got a tour of the winery and learned their process for making wine! The food and wine were AMAZING. This is definitely worth the stop if you are going to Monteriggioni.

The owner of this cellar are very kind and inclusive. She took the time to talk to the group in Italian and then translated to English, just for my daughter and I. We really appreciated it. On top of that, the Restaurant is quite lovely and picturesque, and the food was exquisite!

My son and I stopped in unannounced during our Tuscany leg of our Eurotrip. Maurizio met us with a smile and offered to take us out riding on the spot! He saw that we are very experienced moto riders so he took us on an outstanding, fun trail throughout the Tuscan forests! This was the best day and most fun my son and I had on our entire European trip! That's saying something because we started out in Munich at Oktoberfest! I would highly recommend Crazy Quad Toscana if you're in the region and want to have a fantastic day of adventure!

If you’re in the area - this is a must. You’re not going to have a better experience and see more any other way. My group made great memories and had the greatest time. The lunch place we stopped at in the middle was also probably the best pasta we’ve had in Italy.

Best Quad Tour i‘ve ever had, perfect organization. They change the route while driving according to your driving skills, awesome, so it‘s perfekt for everyone.

Every trip to Tuscany needs to include the ATV/Quad ride with Crazy Quad Toscana. The views of the countryside are amazing. You see the Tuscan countryside in ways you could only see from an off road experience. Maurizio was a tremendous guide even though our Italian is terrible. Make sure you do the four hour ride so you can go to a historic hill town and enjoy a great Tuscan lunch. It is safe, relaxing, fun and a memorable experience for adults and kids. This was the second time we did it and our ages ranged from 6 to 50.
Alfred S — Google review
I did a full day tour in I believe 2014. We spend almost a month traveling all over Italy and the quad trip was honestly the highlight of my entire trip. Marizio (spelled wrong I'm sure) was awesome. He quickly realized that I had experience riding quads and he adjusted the tour to fit me and my friends experience level. I'm glad he did! It was awesome. Technical at times and easy at others. The break in the middle of the ride for lunch was incredible. We were all pretty muddy by then and we sat down at table with a white table cloth and had a multi course meal with limoncello and espresso at the end of it. Everything was soooo good. I'd love to go back some day. To this day, any time someone tells me that they're going to Italy, I tell them to take this tour. Can't say enough good things about it. The price was good considering the meal that is included as well!!

Il Borro, a luxurious hotel located on a 13th-century estate in Tuscany, offers an elegant stay with fine dining, an infinity pool, and a deluxe spa. The property is owned by the Ferragamo family and is filled with impeccable interior decor, art, and gourmet cuisine. With various lodging options including villa suites in the medieval village, historic villas once owned by Italian nobility, and charming farmhouses.
Amazing high end resort in a quiet Tuscan valley! Beautiful views everywhere, delicious food (3 restaurants plus other spots to grab snacks and drinks), terrific wine tours and tastings, 3 pools, tennis, golf and walking trails! Huge resort! The medieval village is wonderful! Staff was fantastic!
Henry B — Google review
We recently stayed at Il Borro, and unfortunately, there were several aspects that we found unacceptable for a property marketed as 5-star and costing over €500 per night. Service – The service is far from attentive. Most staff are very young and seem to lack proper training. They often didn’t know basic information and weren’t able to approach guests with the professionalism you would expect at this level of hospitality. Breakfast – Extremely disappointing. The selection was limited, and many items came at an extra charge even though breakfast was supposedly included. This is unacceptable considering the price per room and how other hotels of the same category include a much broader offering. The croissants (in Italy!) were comparable to what you might find in an airport lounge. Bistro – The recipes were nice, but the portions were extremely small to the point of being unsatisfying. Pools – The pools were very cold and not heated, making them essentially unusable unless you are staying during the hottest summer days. Overall, Il Borro feels designed more to impress international visitors than to deliver genuine Italian luxury hospitality. For the price, you can easily find far better experiences elsewhere. In our view, it is simply not worth the money spent.
Stefano S — Google review
An absolutely gorgeous property but you have to be okay with walking and hiking distance. Service was okay. We had issues with our air conditioner and the staff at the front desk brushed us off until we were directed to the manager Mateo. He was wonderful and got the issue repaired. We really enjoyed the hiking trails.
Kari W — Google review
We spent three nights at Il Borro and I would give it a 3.5-4 star rating. We had high expectations for the resort and amenities given its marketing and third party reviews, but in comparison to similarly profiled and ranked hotels I would say that Il Borro was a bit lackluster. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and detail oriented, so I would give service a 5 star rating. The rooms, though very clean, felt a bit tired. There were lots of scuff marks along the walls from suitcases and other minor details that should be addressed at a five-star rated hotel. We had issues with our air conditioning during the trip, and a service person came up promptly to help fix it. My husband ended up troubleshooting the issue, but the service person was very friendly and tried to help. The restaurants were nice, however, between the three restaurants the food was very similar and uninspiring. The ingredients were very fresh and the quality was excellent, but it would be nice to see some variety between the restaurants and between the lunch and dinner menus. The three pools were stunning. Our favorite pool was the smaller pool located within the medieval village. This pool was more secluded and provided more shade, which was great during the heat of the day. Of the three pools, all were child friendly. It would be nice if there was either an adult only or child only designated pool (out of the three) or quiet hours at the pools. The pools were often pretty busy with families who took over with little regard for other patrons. The spa treatments were lovely and the spa therapists were very talented and professional. The spa itself was quite small and next to a busier area, so you could hear people outside during your treatments. There was not a spa lounge and the locker room was pretty basic. The gym on the property was well appointed and very clean. The grounds are lovely and we enjoyed hiking around, visiting the horses and looking at the historic architecture of the medieval village. Overall, Il Borro was a lovely place to visit and we enjoyed our stay; however, our experience was a bit lackluster given the marketing and praise it has received elsewhere.

Our second time at Il Borro – and once again, it was pure Tuscan magic! From the beautifully restored medieval village to the peaceful vineyards and rolling hills, every detail reflects the unique spirit of this place. What makes Il Borro truly special is the Ferragamo family’s vision: their dedication to authenticity, sustainability, and timeless elegance is felt in every stone, every tree, every moment. It’s not just a resort – it’s a living, breathing piece of Tuscany. A highlight of our stay was dinner at Il Pomario, where tradition meets creativity. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, the food outstanding. And once again, a heartfelt thank you to Denisa and her team – your hospitality, attention to detail, and kindness made us feel incredibly welcome. Il Borro has become a place close to our hearts. We’ll be back – no doubt about it.

We booked a suite for 3 nights. The rooms were spacious and the interior was lovely. Felt like a little home. The mini bar with a few drinks was included. But we had horrible nights. How could you put a sweet for almost 1000€ on the first floor with rooms above? I woke up at 23:30 because the lady above me was walking in heels for 20 mins. I called the reception - this is crazy for a 5 star resort. The other days the rooms next door were playing loud music, so we had to ask them to put it down. Never experienced that before in any 5 star resort and we stayed at rosewood before when it was part of the Il borro family. Breakfast included but horrible? Hard bread. Not even selfmade. The only fresh veggies were tomatoes. For egg dishes you had to pay extra between 10-20€?? Never had a bad breakfast like that. So underwhelming. Food in general was expensive but not really good. I had a cold steak on the first night. The days after we rather drove to Florence to eat, because it was horrible. Service was okay. They really really tried their best. But it seemed like students for a summer job that never worked at a 5 star resort before. We had to wait too lokg for the service. They never filled up our water. The pool had no service? You had to go inside by yourself to order a water. Too many loud kids. The pool at the bar didn’t allow kids but still nobody asked the parents to use the other pool so you just had to accept loud kids playing there. (FYI there are 2 pools where kids are allowed.) Only thing I enjoyed was the horse riding lesson with Martina. She was so amazing and I had the best time. It was a private lesson. Sorry, 5 stars is not it. I stayed at amazing 5 star resorts like forestis dolomites and I excepted it so be the same. But it’s overpriced and overhyped for nothing. You don’t even get a cold water when checking out for your drive back?? Never experienced such a bad service at a 5 star resort. We stayed at La Posta Vecchia Close to Rome and water was included everywhere! At Il Borro a water by the pool was 12€ (!!??).

First of all, I would like to thank the exceptional service received in this establishment every single person that served the restaurant, the spa, the pools, concierge, and our lovely cooking class teacher Nicolai, Thank you. My family (Four people) and I spent 5 nights here all agree on the following: The property is beautiful, nice location, good spa services, but the food experience was a complete disaster. The only meal you can expect to get enough protein is breakfast. This was a huge problem in every meal after breakfast. For all of us and we are not big eaters but we are all very active. The worst meal we all agree was in the Michelin Star Restaurant. The food was exceptionally aesthetic but a 0 out of 10 for taste. The portions were 50% mainly of flowers, clovers and sauces. My husband and I are health centric individuals and we’re expecting to have the bare minimum of protein needs to be meet in a place such as this. We were served a fried LEAF. Radish decorated with clovers, one small potato with bitter green sauce and 55 grams (2 Ounces) of steak. The tiny tuna pasta was super dry and the sauce wasn’t good tasting but made it less dry. The only dish you can get adult sized is an undercooked risotto. Everything was SUPER SALTY. The desert menu was so bad no one wanted anything. The poor staff felt bad because they saw disappointed we were and they came back with chocolate and that was the highest point of the whole meal. The chairs were very uncomfortable and for $389 Euros this was a fail. The bistro and the café had the same problem, but had fair prices the only thing you can get to meet a very basic level of protein is a hamburger. We stayed 5 nights in this place and by the third night I really had a difficult time with this. I workout regularly and felt weak because I didn’t meet my nutritional needs everyday. We supplemented with liquid protein and it still was not enough. Each meal would end up at 10pm no matter what time you get there, we get there 7:30 or the earliest reservation possible. There is only so much socialization can happen before people are too hungry or tired to eat. For the price of the stay, this does not meet the five star criteria. We stayed at two other 5 star properties in two different regions to compare it with. The pictures of website show a lot of beautiful parts of the property they fail to mention is part of the private villa and not accessible to people staying in the property. The villa is beautiful

Had the pleasure of being at Il Borro for a beautiful wedding, and the experience was nothing short of incredible. The food? Wow. Every meal was rich in flavour and beautifully presented. The hospitality? Wow. Warm, attentive, and truly welcoming from start to finish. The attention to detail? On point. Every space and moment felt thoughtfully curated. The couple made full use of the venue — from an intimate setup in the wine cellars to a powerful ceremony in the amphitheater, it was all unforgettable. Huge respect to the amazing planners who brought it together seamlessly: Anne Louise Holm Ferragamo from MadeByMade and Mpire Weddings from India — a dream team that executed everything flawlessly. A breathtaking venue and an even better experience. Grateful to have been part of it.

I would say this was one of the more magical experiences of my families trip to Italy. We are buying a house close to the area so we did our best to explore everywhere we could. We were there around 7pm and it was perfect. None of us were prepared, we wore flip flops and crocs lol. Next time I would bring a little picnic up there, and maybe some carrots for the horses. I highly recommend the trip to the cross.

Nice walk up to the Cross, following the walking trail. Great view on top, on a good day you can see really far into the countryside. But when it is humid, the view is more limited. Be aware that it's much cooler on top than in the valley! We had about 18°C on top, while it was about 33°C in the valley.
