The church is well worth a visit, it was started in 1107 and was a monastery up until 1538 when once again it was one of the churches that Henry knocked about a bit! The church has the most impressive alter pieces I have ever seen in a provincial church. The size of the church has more than halved since it's monastic days but still very impressive inside and out. Words cannot do it justice, just have a look at the photos taken on a wonderful sunny day in August. If you do visit ,please give generously for it's upkeep that is how we can keep such gems. 🙏👍

We walked around the outside of the Abbey in the morning sunshine but it was too early to see inside. There are notices in the churchyard giving details of it's history and picnic tables to sit and appreciate the peace and tranquility. Signs warn you not to fall over the ha-ha behind the Abbey!

One of the Thousand. Marvellous structure but what a tale to tell. Spent loads of time here just wandering and absorbing. There is so much to applaud. Font cover, angel encrusted beams and beautiful backdrop to the main aisle. Very busy getting ready for a service when I went, this is a much loved church.

Fabulous Abbey in a secluded historic part of town, with lovely Tudor buildings & a lovely little reclaimed train station & small river next door, well worth a look for an hour or two.

Stunning church that's unusually large and impressive for a small market town. The surviving church building dates back to Norman times and was part of a larger abbey. Following the dissolution of the monasteries, much of the abbey was demolished, but the parish church survived. This building has seen numerous alterations over the years, including the addition of a gallery and present organ in the 18th century, and magnificent gilded altar screen in the early 20th century. Most recently, a modern extension for visitor facilities was opened in 2007. The church has a tremendous visual impact, from first seeing the two towers that dominate the local skyline as you walk through the green and pleasant grounds, to examining the magnificent details inside. The high ceiling and two levels of arches create the impression of a small cathedral, enhanced by ornately carved quire stalls and decorative stone carvings. Other treasures include the 15th century font with carved biblical imagery, and the historic clock mechanism on display. It's free to visit the church, with donations gratefully received. There are excellent visitor provisions in the new extension, with information boards covering the timeline of the church, plenty of seating, hot drinks facilities and well maintained toilets. Wymondham Abbey is a standout among churches, and worth travelling to see. Services are still held regularly and the people we met were welcoming.

Absolutely fascinating place. It is wonderful that these facilities have survived to this day and now we can learn more about workhouses and expand our knowledge about British history. We were very lucky to come just before an excursion started. I’m not sure how regular excursions are but I undoubtedly advise you to attend one if you have a chance. Caroline was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and very passionate about this place and its history. There is a cosy welcoming cafe, a good place to relax and recharge before continuing to explore this place. There is a farm you can visit. A children’s playground as well inside the facilities. Tickets are a bit pricey but it is worth a visit.

Great day out, you really need to allow at least half a day to see everything. Loved the village street old store, post office pub and cottage. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the workhouse had engaging exhibits. The farm and tractor ride were informative and great for youngsters (and the young at heart!) We had a fabulous ploughman's lunch in the cafe. The staff were all really friendly and knowledgeable, we really enjoyed our day and highly recommend this place.

So much to see and do. The workhouse was a history lesson in itself and the volunteers were friendly and helpful. There were carriages and steam engines, a small village complete with it's local alehouse, school and chapel. We arrived around lunchtime on Sunday and enjoyed a light lunch before walking around. Unfortunately for us we did not leave enough time to visit the farm but we will arrive earlier next time to fit this in. We will definitely be returning.

This is a fantastic day out. Lots to see, do and learn. The farm is lovely and the people on the farm are super knowledgeable and happy to interact with the kids. The lakeside walk is a must and this is where you will find the 'stamps'. The playground was a big hit and the cafe serves delicious food.

Brilliant!! So much better then we had expected- we spent the whole day here and didn’t even get round to the farm and play area which both looked great ! Every room, except had interactive bits - the children had a truly enjoyable day - we joined in with crafts in the chapel, dressed up all over the place and learnt so much. I would highly recommend this place to families. Lots of places to sit and eat a picnic or there is a little cafe. Staff were brilliant really friendly and helpfully.

Informative text and multimedia accompanying interesting historic artefacts in the museum. Good value cafe. Very friendly staff and lovely little farm with young piglets when I went! Succeeds in conveying what rural Norfolk life was like in the 19th century.

What a great day out, we took our older mothers and they loved it! It covers the history of the workhouse over time but also social history with recreated rooms and cottages over the ages. The cafe was excellent, great quiche and fabulously friendly staff. All of the staff were amazing, offering us motor scooters for our mum's to use to get to the farm. Thank you so much.

Great place to go for a long walk walk or a short one if you prefer. We walked around the river and through woods. Very quiet during the week. Dogs are allowed but have to be on a lead. Coffe place available. Lovely day out. Plenty of parking which can be payef with card or via app.

Love the lake walk and view point openings. The geese were friendly and we always enjoy a coffee at the cafe. Cost £12 for three latte's, which was worth it. This is our second time visiting and we always enjoy it, and wait till the end to burn off the last remaining energy at the adventure playground.

Lovely little family day out. Nice play park adjacent. People in the visitors centre are wonderful. Sadly the entire place is overrun with wasps including in the cafe which made it unusable. Absolutely not the centres fault but put a real dampener on the day.

An absolute treasure trove or fascinating Information and artefacts. The museum is only small but holds so many wonders of the ancient landscape that surrounds this fascinating place. The staff are a sheer delight and were almost over generous in the time and passion that they shared with us for the treasures in their care. Stephanie showed us round and took time to discuss the collection in depth and the entire visit was a treat and that is before we even stepped outside in to the village and met Kaj and the other actors, working hard out in the sunshine sharing skills and ancient knowledge with the other guests. The cafe is Clean and spacious and the staff were all cheerful and a pure delight. The food was great and for a light lunch it was a great break in a busy day of historical research in this beautiful corners of Suffolk.

The Dark Ages may have been radically different from the finesse of the Roman era but this site demonstrates how the Anglo Saxons developed and improved their own building techniques. Fascinating and fun moving from one house to the next seeing how things changed but the smell of wood smile stayed the same!! The indoor museum is very well laid out and pitched at a variety of levels to be enjoyed by everyone.

It's wonderful to have a place to discover the stories of the area. Learning about the past can bring a deeper appreciation for the present. The opportunity to learn and connect with history is truly valuable. .

A lovely way to spend a few hours. The exhibition room and museum are surprisingly detailed and informative and set you up perfectly for the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village, bringing the site to life. I didn't have time to hike the trails, but imagine these would reinforce the feeling of walking through history in the footsteps of our ancestors.

This is such a beautiful place. Highly recommend to go. It has amazing birds both caged and wildlife. We did the tour around the area which so great as we learn lot about the park and history. The ducks are so beautiful, healthy and very friendly. Make sure you always buy bird feed for water and land. Playground area is amazing my daughter enjoy so much she didn't want to leave, there is also a indoor play area. We had food at cafe very friendly staff and helpful and there is two sections of building if want to inside as outside we had annoying wasps!!! At cafe you order your food and give you buzzer which will go off but they will come to you with food. We definitely come back again as we enjoy the atmosphere of the place

Great place to spend a good amount of time enjoying wildlife and gardens. The Flamingos and Cranes or particular interest. Plenty for little ones to do with a quality outdoor and indoor play area. Not the cheapest location but delivers value as you can easily spend several hours there.

We went with friends and I was really surprised and amazing this place is. The wildlife if are really friendly and allow you to get up close and personal with them. A great place to go with the family.

Haven’t been here for a few years, but it’s really a nice place to go as long as you’re not scared of birds. Tickets are pricey but it’s worth it if you spend a decent amount of time there. Otherwise it’s an expensive duck feeding day out - and you have to pay extra for the food! Human Food is reasonably priced and good, not rip off prices as some attractions choose to charge. The Hoot House play area is very good - our 7 and 9 year olds ran around for an hour. Two negatives hence the 4 stars - it would be nice if the floor in hoot house was cleaned - it was filthy - and the upstairs cafe area didn’t look like tables/chairs/glass panels had been cleaned recently - coffee stains and food over our table. Have glass panels and children there though and you are Going to get smears and licks! Also, the poo trail was badly labelled and signposted - felt a bit hit and miss and not really engaging. But otherwise a really nice place to go for children to burn off energy and find out about birds of all sorts.

Great to enjoy nature, feed the birds, lovely gardens with sculpture trail. The kids also loved the indoor and outdoor play areas and the barefoot walk.

Beautiful, peaceful gardens. Lovely place to take visiting family and my 7 yr old daughter enjoyed picnicking with the pandas (!) and bird spotting, as well as galloping about on the hobby horse provided and visiting the craft fair which happened to be there. Cafe doesn't have the greatest range but does offer refreshments which are very welcome (don't expect a latte or cappuccino though!) We were lucky enough to spot a kingfisher while there too!

Very beautiful place with good parking. The scented garden was amazing. Take deep breaths in there it's amazing. Beautiful insects and flowers and foliage everywhere. The water is so peaceful. If I didn't have kids with me I could have stayed all day and reached a zen level of inner peace.

A very tranquil and relaxing garden to explore! The garden is surrounded by water with numerous bridges to cross. The spring blossoms were pretty! It’s dog friendly! There’s a tea room offering hot drinks/light refreshments.

I love this garden and keep coming back to its tranquility and spirit. The waterways, the beautiful borders, the nature trail across the stream, the abundant insect and bird life: this is a place to slow down and succumb to the presence of nature. Maintained as a labour of love, that love infuses the place and will touch you if you are quiet enough to let it.

Wonderful place to visit, peaceful and tranquil, fabulous walks. Little cafe with good choice of menue. There are plenty of seats to sit and enjoy being in nature. Would recommend to others.

What a wonderful place to visit. The natural gardens are so obviously lovingly tended by the owner and a couple of gardeners and all are happy to talk about how the gardens came about etc. You can visit all year round but the coffee shop is closed in the winter months but there are toilets open. At £7.50 each, entry is a bargain. Mostly paths or grass to walk on although nature trail might need boots . This is just an oasis of tranquility. If I lived closer I would love to re-visit at different times of the year. Not much local signage to it but its on the road through the village just at the end of the village not far from pub on the same side as the church

Absolutely beautiful place! A real surprise and far more extensive than expected. This could easily be a two hour trip and for the price that is fairly reasonable. There is more than enough parking, toilets on site and a tea room which serves hot and cold snacks and drinks. There is a real range of nature here to see and enjoy. Lots of the plants are labelled with plaques to show what they are, but it’s nice to wander around and enjoy. We saw people with canes, in wheelchairs and they were able to enjoy the gardens as there are either paths or short grass around most of the site. There are also bird-watching hides to sit inside (though some people don’t know when to keep quiet!). Lots to see and do and a really lovely treat.

Great place for a visit and some lovely walks. There are at least 4 different walking routes you can take all with different distances for all fitness levels. The house is nice, but the viewing experience is quite small. My only small complaint would be that there are not enough bins for your food waste if taking a picnic etc, there were none on the walks we did. There's plenty of parking too

I recommend getting one of the free guided tours. It really brings the history of the place alive. Our tour guide was really good if a little arrogant. Inside is good but not a lot to see but the grounds make up for it. There is a little cafe and an activity for children.

Absolutely wonderful National Trust property with part still inhabited by the family. As with most NT properties it is in beautiful condition. The volunteers in several rooms are extremely knowledgeable and add to the overall experience. Wonderful grounds to wander round add to the appeal. Mention must be made of the cafe. Absolutely first rate. Already looking forward to another visit when we are back on the area.

Our 3rd visit here,all the necessary work to the roof and windows is now completed, they have a small exhibition of articles found during restoration which is interesting, the tearoom is up to normal NT standard, we enjoyed a lovely cream tea! The grounds are lovely and well maintained ,we had a very enjoyable visit 😀

The National Trust have put a lot of work into the restoration of this 500 year-old Catholic family estate. Even on a rainy Friday afternoon in November, NT volunteer guides made us feel very welcome and were very knowledgeable. Particular treasures include embroideries by Mary Queen of Scots when she was in captivity. There's also a well disguised priest hole. To make your visit go smoothly, there's a café for a light lunch too. Well worth a detour to visit this unique estate.

Very smiley and helpful ladies at the entrance. Took my dog round the walks that had some very nice wooden statues on them. Very pretty and well kept estate. Went as a National Trust member so the entry fees where not an issue.

Really enjoyed visiting Oxburgh Estate while visiting the area, joined the walking tour along the outside of the building which lasted approx 1 hour and was well worth it. The guide gave the history of the building and lots of interesting facts on the surrounding area, current owners and more

We had heard about this nature reserve a number of years ago. It was well worth the visit, not many birds about as we visited on a particularly hot day (34°), but a number of dragonflies and a handful of butterflies in the wildflowers. Well worth a visit and plan to revisit on a cooler day.

Beautiful place to visit and relax. An oasis of calm. Wicken Fen is a unique landscape of wetlands, reed beds and wildlife. On a good day you can spot a marsh harrier and dozens of other unusual birds. Parking is plentiful and it’s a dog friendly area but you must keep them on a lead at all times. The wildlife needs to be undisturbed.

Beautiful place, lovely reasonably priced cafe with delicious food and drinks. Gorgeous walks in a calm environment. Make sure to pop into the Feb house to give a real taste of old fen life

I wasn't too sure what to expect at Wicken Fen, but it turned out to be a great day out. The whole place is a unique environment teeming with life. Dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and more. If you're into photography, be sure to bring a macro or telephoto lens. The cafe is nice, the shop us surprisingly large and well-stocked and the boat trips on Mayfly are recommended!

We done the bicycle route one day and the windmill/walk the next. The bike route was really fun and pretty easy to do, think we done 9 miles. The walk was about 3 miles.

A great place to walk with large open fields all around you. Lovely visitors centre and coffee shop.

A welcoming visitor centre. Great boardwalk across the green. Hides to observe the birds. Having gone in spring it was lovely to see the plants coming to life after winter. There is a nice cafe too. Great children's activity for Easter.

I was fortunate to visit during an open day so entry was free. The house and gardens are very impressive. The grounds are very big and the accompanying map was helpful. The flower displays are excellent especially the roses and dahlias. The house is worth visiting and there are staff in most rooms to explain about the history of the house. There is a main restaurant and toilets at the main entrance and smaller cafe near the house but food choices were poor. I would suggest taking a packed lunch with you. Overall a great day out with lots to see.

Excellent National Trust property with lots of the Abbey open to view. The gardens are more naturalistic rather than formal but lovely to walk around. The autumn leaf colour is very striking. The cafe had a different menu to other NT that we have been to, which was a refreshing change. I woukd definitely recommend a visit.

Wow what a really memorable and lovely day out. Enjoyed roaming round the house. Such a lot of art and treasures to admire. Excellent guides who answered questions. You must see the rose and dahlia gardens. Picture taking opportunities. So much selection and colour. Loved the dotted around statues, well Kept grounds, serenity and walks. Highly recommend this NT property. Wish the shop was more affordable. Lots of people browsing but could sell much more if their pricing was more justifiable, competitive and affordable. Lovely selection of things to buy but too pricey.

I took my 91 year old dad for a few hours out in a quality garden. We couldn't have asked for more. The dahlia display was jaw dropping. The silver birches divine. The carpet of cyclamen was a joy to behold. We loved our few hours at Angelsey Abbey gardens. The entire garden walk was spectacular. Dad used the NT wheelchair which was really good as it had rough terrain tyres. The reception staff were so nice and accommodating. We also had lunch in the cafe. Perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed walking around here. As it was the autumn the golden leaves on the trees were lovely. A bonus was being able to go into the house and see the various rooms laid out as they were in the past. It was school half term so busy in the cafe at lunchtime. There's plenty of space for ball games, walking or sitting (although not many benches to sit on). Already looking forward to visiting in the spring.

An astonishing experience. Almost to much to take in on one visit. The most opulent of buildings packed with objects of a wide and varied nature. Just simply packed with artefacts, furniture, paintings ..and, iinevitably, as he seems to have clearly been inordinately vain..his many many suits. Fortunately this is just a temporary exhibition. The rest are well worth a visit. Very busy. Shops, restuarant etc. Acres of walks..when the weather permits. We didn't walk, or visit the working mill...it was bitterly cold. So cannot comment on those features. Nor the restuarant.

This is a very handy venue if you’re in the Cambridge area. Extensive gardens, and for me the pic of the bunch is Lode Mill and the Dahlia garden. The Dahlias were absolutely stunning. We didn’t visit the house on this occasion, although we have done before, if you do so you’re expected to do a lot of forelock tugging to the Fairhaven family.

This is a very big estate and has lots for people to see and do depending on budget too, The car part is drive in pay on exit we paid £10 for the day. The outer ground are then free to walk around and there is a very nice kids play park. We used the restaurant and this was very nice and felt posh which i liked as after all you are on Royal ground now. The food was very good and the service was good too i would recommend. We paid the extra to go into the Gardens and House which for two adults and one child was £54. The Gardens are well looked after and worth a walk around the stables host a cafe were we did partake in a coffee and cake stop. The views of the house are very good and looks very nice. The House we did the tour which was shorter then expected as its a big house but we did not see it all, its a walk thought tour with people in each room telling you about each one or you can get an audio head set at £5. The rooms are as expect posh its ice to see where the king and our past queen spend and spent Christmas together and the dining room were they have Christmas dinner. The house has a lot to see and seams to have a Asian theme to it. Sadly you are not able to take photos or video inside which is a shame. It was well worth a visit.

A fabulous few hours spent here, a full day is definitely recommended. We saw a few rooms in the house, no photos allowed which was a shame as we couldn't even purchase postcards of the inside of the house at the shop. A wonderful jade collection and outstanding decor. Stunning gardens. Interesting Fire Engine museum and a collection of Royal cars through the ages. Some lovely staff who were more than happy to give you information, a couple of rather curt members too.

Visited for my birthday and had a great time. The house and grounds have a lot to explore and can easily spend the whole day there. Would advise prebooking car parking to save the hassle on the day and the shop has plenty of things available

Lovely park and castle. Really friendly and helpful staff. The tour of the castle is quite short - but still lots to see and the staff are more than willing to share stories about what are in the rooms. Only down side is that the cafe in the stables has quite a small assortment and price vs quality is also not the best.

Divine place to visit. The cream tea is a must, superb, the best we have had. Outstanding staff with a passion for the estate and devotion to their majesties. We travelled from Bristol for this visit, so worth the travelling time. Do pay the extra to visit all areas. The church has so many family personal touch remembrances. The staff actually make the estate a 5 star visit, extremely knowledgeable, so friendly and approachable. Everyone genuinely seemed so happy and helpful.

Lovely garden and estate, lots to see and to spend the day relaxing in good company or to meditate alone. The price to see the grounds is £17 and a bit more if you wanna see inside the palace. The stable has a nice café with cakes and a variety of drinks at a reasonable price. Really enjoyed it and would definitely come back.

We had a wonderful day here wandering the gardens, which are fabulous to walk around at any pace. They are very large with lots of paths to wander and you dont have to stick to paths but can roam around pretty much as you like. Where you're not allowed will be clearly marked. You'll see so much of beautiful nature and great formal gardens. You can grab a snack and drink before entering the gardens, and once within there is a cafe in the stables for a stop and refresh. The gardens are very well maintained and clean. All in all this was a really great day.

Interesting castle with quite a bit to look around. Fair entry fee. I would say would be improved by having headsets available to borrow for the audio guide which you have to bring your own headphones for and I didn't have any with me.

A decent day out. Be prepared for lots of steps and tight spots - I don't imagine many ruins are accessibility friendly and this is no exception. We got a good sense of the history of the place and it had a lovely atmosphere helped by conveniently placed plaques explaining the function and history of rooms in the castle.

We went to this Castle for one of the reenactment days. Was really interesting and fun. We explored the castle and moat in between hearing all talks on fashion, medicine, games, cooking and food and watching a Mammas play which was very entertaining. A lovely day out in a magnificent setting!

Such an amazingly kept castle! You can really envision what it would have been like. Information boards are scattered around and you can even listen to an audio description. We will definitely go back

We went on a Reenactment weekend and it was absolutely fantastic. Everyone was so knowledgeable and friendly, big shout out to Boudicca and the Iceni tribe, and the Roman centurion & artefacts. Medieval musicians & also the field hospital dog! They were some of our favourites. There were demonstrations every hour, which we could watch from the top of the settlement or at eye level. We would have liked a few more involving children throughout the day so they could get involved. Toilets are based in the car park. The moat around the castle is a good run around to let off some steam. The castle itself is well preserved but empty so doesn't take long to look round. Would have liked a board in each room to show what the rooms may have looked like and how they'd be used. The kitchen fireplace for example was fantastic but tricky to explain to my children without images. No food served on site but there is a pub and cafe less than a 5 minute walk down from the site which serve good food for families and child & dog friendly. Would highly recommend a visit when there is a reenactment on. We bought an English Heritage membership (which you must do online as Castle Rising isn't owned by them) as the reenactment cost extra and this got us 50% off. Thank you to everyone who was part of the reenactments, we couldn't get round all of the tents as there was so much on covering a long period of history to cater to every interest!

Had an excellent visit to the site, which had a small visitor shop where you pay for entry, or show your membership card. There were also toilets on site which was good to have. Great place to look round, with multiple rooms and several levels to explore.

Had an absolutely unforgettable experience skydiving. From start to finish, everything was smooth, safe, and exciting. A big thank you to my instructor Leigh, who kept me calm, guided me every step of the way, and made sure I enjoyed every second in the sky. And hats off to Dave, the photographer, for capturing the whole experience perfectly and helping me feel at ease. I felt completely safe, well taken care of and truly one of the best experiences of my life! Highly recommend this place and the amazing team behind it. 🙌🪂

Wow, what an amazing experience! Instructor Gary made me feel so comfortable and safe, hopefully his ears have recovered from my screaming! Sean captured some amazing memories on film and in photos too! The whole day from start to finish was brilliant I couldn’t fault it at all. Thank you to all the staff for a 5 star service would highly recommend, I’ll be back!

One of the life time bucket lists ticked off. Amazing group of professionals who can take you on tandem skydiving with proper guidelines and make you feel at ease. Amazing experience. Thanks to my instructor, Mauris who made it even more enjoyable. The wait sometimes might be more than you think just because of wind or unpredictable weather. The place is equipped with a cafe to keep you stuffed in such a case. Lovely people and it can be quite busy. The footage, videos and pictures are classy too.

We finally made it on our fourth attempt because of the weather, but it was really easy to rebook every time. The day we did jump was glorious so it felt like a reward for our patience... and it was definitely worth the wait! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and I felt like I was in safe hands the entire time. The only problem was...the whole jump was over all too soon and I need to do it all over again because I know I missed so much!🤣Definitely upping my game to 15,000 feet next time...

We was so grateful for the charity discount. Chris Beattie was my instructor and he was lovely, very reassuring and proffesional. I felt safe at all times, the whole experience for me was life changing - I really hope it won't be my last jump, I loved it so much! Thank you Chris and team, such a well organised and enjoyable experience.

What can I say ,it was an amazing experience doing my parachute jump today .From start to finish ,training, video, instructor's instructions to actually jumping out of the plane at 10,000 ft. My actual tandem instructor made me feel at ease and explained every instruction so clear and precise. What an amazing experience advise anyone to have a go .. brilliant. Thank you to all the skydivers and staff for making this experience exceptional.

I wanted to get my 63 years old mom to sky dive with me and it was just the best feeling ever . No words can describe it. Everyone is super professional and helpful and kind. Great little place. Very informative. We done some activities for a very reasonable price and Charlotte was amazing at looking after us. We got to keep a few gems/fossils at the end and they were bagged up and labelled for us which was lovely. Museum was cool, got to see them work on an iguanadon fossil. Definitely will be back

My children love it here. The activities are perfect for children and it keeps them engaged for ages. My son's favourite activity is the shark tooth finding. I highly recommend this place for an afternoon out with the kids

We went with both adults and small children and we had such a great time. Jamie helped me identify a fossil (which turned out not to be one at all 🤣). The activities were so fun as well and it was all really reasonably priced. I wish we lived closer!

Absolutely phenomenal place. Had no idea there was so much to do there. We went this morning and spent 2 hours (without even realising) doing activities. Both our girls (5 and 21 months) had a great time. Thomas and Rex were helping us out today. Not only do you learn a lot (because they are all very knowledgeable) but you also get to take home some of the items. For example, the shark tooth sifting, you get to keep 3 teeth!! There is no time limit on activities and you don't feel rushed to move on to the next. My eldest LOVED the geode breaking activity (even though she smashed it an extra time haha) and she's excited she has got to bring it home. She can't wait to show her friends. They even give you a couple of bonus gifts <3 We will definitely be back!!

Visited today with my 11 year old boy. He loves all things crystals and fossils and was in his element here! We did the £10 package and I thought it was great value for money. Thomas was our helper and he was very chatty and informative. We will definitely visit again and next time do the museum aswell. Great day out especially if you/your children are interested in crystals etc.

We really enjoyed our visit today! The kids got a bag of their discoveries at the end, all organised/labelled, so they can clearly see what each of them is. Harry did a great job of showing us around and demonstrating the activities. Would highly recommend!

I took my two grandsons, they had a great time , not expensive , lovely staff would go back again. I sat and watched with a lovely cup of tea at a good price of £1,50 .

Historic watermill, operating on select days. River cruise and self hire boats also available and a small beach area for river swimming.

I had such a lovely day out at Houghton Mill in Abbots and would definitely recommend it. The mill itself is a really interesting National Trust property, full of character, but what made it extra special was everything around it. You can hire boats or punts by the mill at very reasonable prices, which was so much fun and such a relaxing way to enjoy the river. On sunny days, it’s also a great spot to bring your own inflatable if you fancy drifting along at your own pace. The area is perfect for picnics too. There are plenty of tables outside if you want to sit and enjoy food from the café (which was excellent – really tasty and good value), or you can just bring a rug and set yourself up right by the water. It’s such a peaceful, pretty place to relax. If you’ve got time, it’s also worth wandering into the village. There are some really good pubs, all with a welcoming feel, plus a lovely antique and art shop that’s fun to browse. Altogether, Houghton Mill and the village make a brilliant day out with a great mix of history, nature, good food, and a lot of fun on the water!

Lovely small and spacious campsite near the river for walks and water for those who like messing about in it!! The mill was very interesting and a short walk to pubs with good beer. The facilities were great and very clean. My only small gripe was no toilet paper left in the morning.

This was a pleasant and unexpected experience with a lovely mill on a river. Some of the views seemed out of a money painting. We didn't go in the but just did the circular walk. There is a swimming and canoeing area. There's also a campdite close by and a small cafe for refreshments. Parking on grass is available. Good for families wanting to explore and be at one with nature and dogs are welcome.

Visited when en-route home from Shropshire and well worth it. Very busy to park but well organised. Interesting bit of history and couple of enthusiastic volunteers added to it. Pleasant walk along river too. Bought some of the milled flour.

Beautiful place. Did the mill tour but definitely going back to do the 5k circular walk and perhaps take out a rowing boat.

Great place for swimming, canoeing, or long walks. The mill is definitely worth visiting, check the opening hours. There are toilets and a tea shop next to the car park. You can rent boats and canoes. Car park and facilities close usually at 4 pm, but you can still drive out, so don't worry about leaving your car for longer, drive up to the gate (not too close) and it will open. Beautiful scenery, we did an 8k walk (check out the map in my pictures, red trail, with a green shortcut south of the lakes) but you have many options, including an around 20k one recommended on a map just south of the mill. There may be mud and narrow paths in tall grass, so aim at good weather. Don't miss walking around the picturesque village with many old houses, a bit like going back in time. Recommended.

Visited during the school holidays with our family of four, two adults, a 12-year-old, and a 5-month-old in a pram. We’re big fans of zoos and aquariums, and we thought this would be a great sensory experience for our newborn, which it was. He was fascinated by the movement and colours of the fish, and the tanks were well lit and easy for him to see. That said, I had my reservations when we arrived. From the outside, the building looked quite small, and I suspected we wouldn’t be inside for very long unfortunately, I was right. You could walk around the entire place in 10 minutes if you didn’t stop much. Considering the price, I found it quite steep for the size and variety on offer. While I’ve definitely been to better aquariums, I will say the tanks were clean and the fish appeared healthy and well cared for. The standout is a large showpiece tank, which is lovely, but during school holidays it gets very crowded and that does take away from the experience. Our baby enjoyed it, but our 12-year-old lost interest fairly quickly and was more excited about heading out to play mini golf, which I believe is included in the ticket price. Would I recommend it? Possibly – it’s not bad for a rainy day or a short outing, especially with very young children. But on a warm, sunny day, I think there are better ways to spend your time and money.

If you like fish...brilliant ! It was well laid out, plenty to see. Some quiz activities for children. Cafe upstairs and a children's soft play area which was a great surprise! Big enough for a good play for a 5 year old. The jurassic Park was good for children.

The Dive experience was excellent. All dive instructors gave clear precise training and answered any questions before entering the tank. I absolutely loved it and will definitely recommend it to friends and family. We also spent some time looking around the aquarium which is interesting and educational. Plenty of fun things to do for kids as well.

Lovely aquarium, very clean and tidy, good selection of animals and information to see, would be nice to read some information on the animals that live there i.e. their names, age etc rather than just general breed information. The annual pass is definitely worth it too if you are going to visit more than once. A little highly priced if you are just visiting the once as it is quite small. There is however also a dinosaur trail included in the price with a pretty waterfall which makes the visit longer and interesting. Overall a nice visit and would recommend.

Really excellent hour. As everything is in there, and up close, it was the most fun dive experience since diving with mantas off Labuanbajao 20 years ago. Jamie and Andy were great, walking two complete novices through everything and calming them down, and did me a quick refresher as it’s been a while. Super efficient and great fun. Rays, sharks, large fish… would recommend to all.

Nice little aquarium, plenty of different types of sea creatures. Kids loved it but it is a little dark in there and a bit smaller than I thought it would be. They got a dinosaur land there as well with some moving ones like the T-Rex. There's a cafe upstairs with nice views of Skegness area and a play area for the kids which is no extra charge. Worth it tbf, kills a few hours... Family pass was on offer, £30.00 for 2 adults & 2 kids.

Fantastic place for a family day out, my little boy had so much fun there are lots of interactive things to do. He loved the dinosaur section outside with the sand pit where you could dig for dinosaur bones. There is also a soft play within the aquarium about half way in so you can let the kids have a run around whilst you grab a coffe/ bite to eat. Most importantly they have a great selection of sea life which beautiful to look at and are well looked after.

We visited on Monday 26th May 2025 at around 17:13. As it started to rain, we made our way to the end of the pier. On our way back, we travelled through the arcade. We spent £2 on the duck racing machine and earned plenty of tickets. There is a big soft play area for little kids, and we enjoy our little visit into the pier.

This beachside destination is absolutely wonderful! The view of the sea is breathtaking, especially with the natural sea breeze that makes the atmosphere so refreshing. It’s the kind of place where you can simply relax, enjoy the beauty of nature, and forget all your worries. A perfect spot for anyone looking to spend quality time by the ocean

What a brilliant day out! We visited Skegness Pier on May 31, 2025, and it was a five-star experience from start to finish. My kids absolutely loved it and went on almost every ride they could. The variety of rides kept them entertained for hours, and the smiles on their faces said it all. The pier is also perfect for a full family outing. There were plenty of places to grab snacks and ice cream, which was great for keeping everyone happy and energised. It's so convenient to have toilet facilities readily available too. Finding parking was no problem at all, with a handy pay-and-display car park just a short walk away. This made the whole trip stress-free. Skegness Pier is a fantastic place for family fun and a must-visit if you're in the area!

First time on Skegness pier. Fantastic day with fantastic company. Lots of people enjoying themselves. Lots of music, live entertainment rides and side stalls. Everything you would expect on a pier and the surrounding area. I liked how people have put locks on the rails on the pier as a memory.

A great walk from the seafront into town. The views were fantastic, especially at sunset, and the pier looked absolutely amazing in the evening. Even though it was the end of October a bit chilly and windy it was totally worth braving the cold for the photos and the atmosphere.

We visited as a family. The pier itself is lovely — the views are stunning and definitely one of the highlights of Skegness. Unfortunately, the surrounding area is extremely commercialised: everything flashes, sings, beeps, and is clearly designed to tempt kids into spending money. It’s hard to simply enjoy the atmosphere without being bombarded by noise and distractions. The toilets were honestly awful. The smell was so strong I couldn’t even go in — I literally felt like I was going to be sick, and that almost never happens to me. With so many tourists around, it’s shocking that basic hygiene isn’t better maintained. Also worth noting — the railings along the pier are covered with padlocks, despite there being a dedicated heart-shaped structure meant for this purpose nearby. The locks are damaging the fencing and it just looks messy. It’s disappointing that people don’t respect shared public spaces.

Few too many rides out of order or not running. Still had a good time but lile so many things now... not sure it was worth the money

Great day out. Not a bad price for entry but it is getting a little run down. Nice place to see lots of different animals. With staff being friendly and willing to chat about the animals. The facilities were clean and the restaurant was good for a bite to eat.

Nice little Seal rescue centre. Undergoing some improvement to the penguin pool. Needs quite a bit of maintenance as buildings, especially the bird and butterfly houses, looking a bit shabby. Small reptile collection. Very good staff, with informative presentation at feeding time. Would be nice if they could get some sponsorship deals from local companies as not getting any lottery grants.

A lovely place that’s truly worth visiting! I visited with my child and we had a really wonderful time. The seals are absolutely adorable, and the sanctuary plays such an important role — rescuing, caring for, and rehabilitating these beautiful, intelligent animals. The stories shared by the keeper were touching and made us realise how cruel humans can sometimes be. It was emotional but also eye-opening. Feeding the llamas and goats was a great experience for the kids — a fun and meaningful way for them to connect with animals. Places like this deserve recognition and support from the community. They’re doing something truly important. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Not bad value for money, it isn't an all day activity but definitely worth a visit if you love seals 🥺😍 ! Was a lot of maintenance going on at the time which they kindly have reflected on price tickets. General areas such as toilets and the picnic seatings area could do with a good clean. Staff on reception/ticket kiosk really friendly and bubbly. Would recommend a visit for all animal lovers

They gave an amazing speech about all the different seals (the adult and baby seals) and the seals did some tricks. There’s a great food place which unfortunately doesn’t allow dogs but there is an outside seating area which you can take your dogs into. There’s a butterfly sanctuary and a bird sanctuary which is absolutely amazing to go through. Would highly recommend for a nice day out.

We enjoyed a couple of hours at the seal sanctuary. The place isn't very big so good for little kids, we found the seals enclosures we're small and a bit dingy but we understand they are a charity and doing the best they can. The kids enjoyed seeing all the other animals too, highlights were the birds, butterflies, goat and the crocodile. The entry prices were decent as were the prices in the gift shop and cafe. Enjoyed feeding time and hearing the talk about the seals.

What a great little place. The £36 family ticket was great value and going to a good cause to continue the work with the rescued seals and animals. Even though a new penguin pool was under construction there were still plenty of animals to see. We especially enjoyed feeding the goats and alpacas and the seal feeding show.

Must admit this is a very nice beach lots of room and good views we came on a lovely sunny day which always help make it look better then in the rain. The beach is clean from litter and the sea is good. would have been 5 stars if i had not spotted a poo on the beach near the waters edge i so hope it was from a dog and not human. hoping it was a one off i then spotted another one up the beach which was a dog poo guess some people just don't care and pick up after their dogs shame as kids are on this beach playing in the sand. but that's said that was the only fault i found much better then other beaches on this coast line just down the road. The sand is soft deep we enjoyed our time here and would return.

Really nice beach, plenty of car parking though at the time was £8 for 6 hours. The sand is quite fine and not stony. There is a cafe next to the beach, wasn’t particularly friendly and overcharged me twice (based on their menu prices) other than the beach I wouldn’t have said there was loads for the kids to do but to be fair I am old and wasn’t really looking. Nice for sitting in the sun though.

Very clean beach in a lovely small town,entertained by local police getting stuck in the sand!

Nice flat family-friendly beach with lots of sand at low tide, lifeguard service and plenty of refreshments and amusements. Towards the North is quieter and backed by dunes, with parking nearby.

Beautiful beach which runs for miles. Bring a picnic and bucket and spade and relax. Promenade goes for around 4 miles and I cycled it with ease as it’s flat. Very few people around and a cafe for refreshments along the way. Perfect day out to the seaside.

Parking close to sea front. We didn't visit the shops just walked the seafront. Plentiful eateries. Watch out for months when dogs aren't allowed on the beach. Seafront was clean and tidy. You have to pay for use of public toilets.

One of the best beaches. No dogs allowed between May and September on the main section. However from the Dunes complex and North past the life guard station it is dog friendly and there is miles of wide beach. In season the sand train is also available. Lovely and clean and there is the Dunes.. cafes... mini golf.. go karts and fun fair.. although I do miss the big wheel on the main prom.

Visited with our grand kids, girls 5 and 6, and was very impressed. Very well laid out, informative displays and a huge variety of animals seals and birds. Really cannot understand the poor reviews as we all had a great time and thought the enclosures were spotless and the animals looked happy and content. We will be back.

A great array of animals here. The seals are really cute and what they do for them is amazing. Rehabilitation for them to go back into the wild after injuries. The resident seals seem happy too. Parrot by entrance is funny and will say hello/goodbye to you! Lovely staff and nice cafe too

So much more than seals and worth the entrance fee! Out of season so cafe closed (luckily drinks machine is last to be cleaned) so many rescued birds, reptiles, mammals. Timed feedings with q&a, parking free but the £5 would've been redeemed in the sanctuary. Feel bad for some of them but they're better off here, well looked after, such a sunny day too, saw most of them!

Loved visiting here, large variety of animals to see. All the animals are obviously very well loved and cared for, and the sanctuary is massive with free parking. The cafe, loos, and paths were all very clean and tidy, with lots of different areas to view the different animals. I do however think some of the enclosures could be bigger, and cleaner. Admission price was very reasonable, I'd happily pay more to see cleaner, slightly bigger enclosures.

We visited on a Friday afternoon in August and it was busy but easy to move around. There is lots of interesting information and wide range of animals including meerkats, pigs, chicken, various birds including a stunning peacock, ostrich, llama, and seals. The gardens are lively and there’s a small play area, cafe and toilets. I couldn’t help but feel some of the information boards looked a bit tired , had they been better I would have given a higher score.

Not sure what to expect walking up the car park but once inside, what a place. Whole family had a really good time, had a lovely lunch in the cafe, all staff were really friendly. The signs clearly say they take in sick animals and enclosures are designed around their needs so if there is not loads of water in with the seals or a pen is small or a lynx is pacing, there may well be a valid reason.

Visited here while staying in the area. Quite disappointed really…..the place looks well rundown ( shortage of funds ?). A shame really for the love they obviously have for the animals. Only a few seals at the end of the walk through so should just be called a Wildlife Sanctuary.

A beautifully designed and built cathedral. Are there better ones - depends upon what is considered better, this one is full of history and stunning architectural details. There was a 5 pound charge to visit the chancel but I did not think that excessive considering the maintenance costs on this building. If you visiting Peterborough, this is not to be missed. Also a lovely place for some self reflection and hop out of the daily trials of life.

What a great cathedral. The architecture is amazing and walking inside its so spacious and the art work is amazing. Such a peaceful place. The cathedral is right in the city centre of Peterborough and you can’t miss it with the walk way leading to it. The cathedral looks so beautiful and grand from the outside and when you walk in it looks so nice

An impressive building with the three arches. The Nave is beatiful too with the wooden ceilings, etc. An amazing building. But, I was disappointed to find that in order to visit the chancel and other areas at the back of the cathedral, I would have to pay an entrance fee of £5.50, you have to buy tickets at the information desk. There is no clear signage of that being the case, nothing to inform me of this. You need to be more clear as it does not say on your website or indeed on any signage that I looked at that there is a fee.

Like majority of Cathedrals in the UK, Peterborough cathedral has stunning Gothic architecture and a real sense of history. The intricate ceilings and beautiful stained glass are breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place to pause and reflect.

I have visited a lot of Cathedrals over the year across England, and this has to be one of best that l have seen. l was very impressive with both the inside and the outside of this cathedral. I would highly recommend coming here. The cathedral is free to visted, but there is a donation box/card reader if you would like give something.

Superlative example of a cathedral lots of spectacular details and information and friendly and helpful staff. Gift shop didn't seem open and if they did contactless donations we would have.

This is one of my favourite cathedrals in UK, just beautiful. Check out their xmas fayre in November each year .. fabulous

This designer outlet isn’t as big as some I’ve been to but there is a good selection of shops including a M&S, Osprey, Levi’s Cadbury Chocolate Shot and much more. I really enjoyed Blud Diamond the garden centre with lush outdoor and indoor plants, gifts, books, household items and restaurant. The Osprey shop has good quality bags and wallets, and the craft shop is well stocked. My favourite area was the extensive well laid out gardens with water features, seating and woods, this is not something you expect to find at a designer outlet. It does feel like an outlet shopping centre because the prices are really competitive.

Springfield in Spalding is an absolute gem, it's the perfect combination of a fantastic shopping destination and a beautiful, peaceful place to relax. It's truly got everything you could want for a great day out First off, the shopping is brilliant. The outlet stores offer a huge range of brands, from high-street favourites like M&S and Joules to well-known names like Clarks and Levi's. You can find everything from clothes and shoes to homeware and gifts, all at great prices. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend a few hours browse and still feel like you only scratched the surface. The layout is also very pleasant, so it doesn't feel overwhelming like a huge indoor mall. But what really sets Springfield apart is the stunning Festival Gardens. It's a wonderful surprise to find such a beautiful, landscaped space right no ext to the shops. The gardens are an absolute highlight, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. The themed areas, water features, and woodland walks make for a lovely stroll. It's a fantastic spot to take a break, enjoy a coffee, or just admire the beautiful flowers. The gardens are clearly well-cared for, and it's a real joy to walk around them. The fact that these two elements - the great shopping and the gorgeous gardens - are together in one place makes Springfield so special. It's a place where you can shop until you drop, then step outside into a serene and inspiring garden to relax and recharge. The whole atmosphere is welcoming and enjoyable, making it a wonderful experience for everyone. I loved every minute of my visit and I'm already looking forward to going back.

As a wheelchair user this place was great to visit. Nice smooth floors both inside the shops and in the street area. Plenty of parking and everything was clean and tidy. We visited the garden centre cafe for food and weren’t disappointed. Grandchildren loved shopping for accessories and daughter in law found a birthday present she liked easily.

Not a bad place to go shopping. I detest shopping. Here is a good spot to whip around a wide range of shops grabbing all the bits you have needed to get for the last few years and then grab a coffee to celebrate getting it over with. Parking is excellent, always room for my camper van, I like a big space. Reasonably priced.

Very clean and spacious, a variety of shops to look around. Adventure land was great fun for the kids. The ducks were not at all afraid of humans which shows how well they are cared for. Sitting around the ponds was quite peaceful. I cant find fault with anything at all.

The restaurant in the garden center is very nice, with a large room, comfortable seating, delicious meals, and a very large selection of gluten-free desserts. Everyone will find something for themselves there.

Caught out by the parking charge . Thought he first hour was free - I was wrong. Got stuck at the gate with about 20 cars behind me . Called for help and the attendant could not have been more unfriendly. Told me to reverse directly at the queue of cars behind to make them move - I was in a van with zero rear view and aware that the queue behind were not feeling hospitable! I would have happily paid a charge by cc at this point but that could not be offered and they instructed me to either force the cars behind me to move or to leave the van and block the exit while I walked back to a pay station - accepting my mistake was my fault , the response from this team was pathetic.

My girlfriend and I came here, and it's a lovely walk. In some sections, it feels very close to nature, while others are clearly designed for children to play. It's a wonderful place for a quiet day out.

Visited many times, but today just the wooden trail. However, the whole park it's perfect to go for walks, visit different sites like coffee shops, playgrounds for the children, ride on the train ( this will depend on the days and weather), and also boat rides (this is seasonal). There's a lot in here, as sometimes they do events as well. Always look at the website for what's happening. But, if you like nature like I do, Ferry meadows is a great escape from the town of Peterborough.

Beautiful place has a lot to offer, play areas, BBQ, pedal boats, and lots of walking trails. A small train that takes you on a tour of the park, cafes and toilet facilities. Various parking locations which you pay when you leave. Very pretty place, would definitely return for another visit.

Lovely place for a day out .plenty of walks. parks for kiddies cafe and ice-cream stall and a train to take you round the park. We stayed on the caravan site for few days it was nice .you can also tents in a different area .

Ferry Meadows in Nene Park, is beautiful and peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. The big lake is perfect for fishing and just relaxing. There are plenty of walking trails, running areas, and horseback riding avaliable. Plenty of adventure woodlands, large picnic areas, and a variety of wildlife, it’s an ideal destination for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking for a calm escape outdoors.

Visited here for the Saturday morning parkrun. Loads of onsite parking which is only £1 for park runners. This is very well attended event , with 600 people on the day. The park is great with loads of facilities including toilets, cafes etc. The run is two out and back loops, there are some 2way parts that get a little squeezed but for most of it there is plenty of room. Its all flat and alot of tarmac so its a fast course. Lots of marshalls all doing a great job, this is a must visit parkrun.

Parking £4-8. Very beautiful and scenic. Cafe was busy and their way of doing drinks was odd, tea was made and put on the tray but we had to wait for the coffee (they hold back the tray) so tea was cold. Coffee was around £4, cake £4 . Watersports and activities available on site for extra charges. Picnic area and play park. Short walk around the lake and some other paths that we didn't get chance to visit as it was just a short visit.

Called in here while visiting the area and was lucky enough that the Lancaster Bomber was on one of its days/times for making a taxi run out of the hangar……GREAT experience. Ring and check for days/times before you visit. If you are interested in WW2 then there are LOTS of experiences and MASSES of reading…..allow a lot time (all day) if you want the full experience. Basic but cheap and acceptable marquee cafe at present while work is ongoing for the new one.

Great time on bank holiday Monday. Being inside an iconic airplane such as the Lancaster is a lot of people's dreams. I must say it does live up to the dreams and gives you a great insight as to what those young airmen went through. So brave so young, may we never forget.

Over recent years we have taken a liking to visiting war museums, there are many over this East Side of the country, this one was well worth a visit with the Lancaster bomber just one of it's main attractions. Certain days you can pay for a 'taxi' ride down a large field in the bomber You can sit in the gun turrets of choice. All be it a little expensive on this occasion being a pensioner. The experience of taxiing down a run way with a 4 engines running in this iconic world war 2 bomber must be fantastic. We are going to save up and come back for another visit and take this once in a lifetime opportunity. All the money raised is put back into making this Lancaster air worthy. So a great cause to keep this plane alive for the forseable future for all to see. You can see the craftspeople building and manufacturing new sections of plane in the large hangar. For us this was also a great place to visit as it has a Campra motorhome aire in the grounds, we stayed for two nights, safe and peaceful 👍 Check out there website.

Absolutely brilliant. To visit Just Jane and her smaller sisters was just wonderful . We will return. This is fabulous day out particularly for those whose relatives once flew these beautiful old ladies. Great volunteers

Had a brilliant morning here. Came here really for one thing, to see the Lancaster taxi run. Totally amazing to witness this, the noise, the history, the size of the aircraft. What was also impressive was all displays with the information relating to the aircraft and airfields in the local area.

Visiting this was a purely off the cuff last minute decision due to rain, however this place deserves a lot more respect than that. A fascinating, detailed incredible place with some sombering glimpses into our aviation past. Couple that with an unexpectedly delicious breakfast and you have a great half day out. Definitely not one to miss.

If you're interested in ww2 aviation history then this is a must. Lancaster and Mosquito plus various other rescued aero parts with the history to explain why they are there. Unfortunately planes were in hangar at visit so couldn't get decent photos but didn't spoil a great day. There is a cafe on site. Money goes to support work on the aircraft.

Wanted to visit for years and well worth it. A couple of Spitfires and the Dakota are away at the moment but got to see the Lancaster pushed back in the hanger. This is a fantastic place to visit. Spitfires, Hurricane and the awesome Lancaster bomber are based here. You are taken on a tour by a guide who explains in great detail everything about each plane. The information and stories of each plane are remarkable and it makes you realise the importance of these planes and the pilots who flew them. Well worth a visit. Would recommend to all.

A fantastic opportunity, not only to learn more about these iconic planes, and their crews, but also to get up close to them. It helps you to understand the overwhelming conditions that the young pilots and associated crew had to endure, with the odds of survival being very low. Staff are amazing, and very knowledgeable. If you are interested in either history, or even just these planes, it is well worth the time, and £12 entrance fee

Late to review, had a brilliant tour last week with (I think) Colin. I apologise if I have your name wrong sir! He was accompanied by Vivian who was under his wing as a trainee. Colin was fantastic, imparting so much knowledge that I just wanted to record his every word, including answering silly questions from yours truly! Well worth the visit.

Arrived at 10am for 10:30am tour on a Thursday. Tour group up to 20 people. Guide very knowledgeable. Lucky enough to see Spitfire and Hurricane depart (and Lancaster later on) for Eastbourne airshow. Visit in 2025 to see Lancaster before she goes for 18 month major maintenance and new paint job at Duxford. Dakota currently getting similar major maintenance so not available in 2025.

Fantastic tour of the Hanger by an ex BBMF commander, very informative loved every minute, great to see the engineers working on the planes.

Burghley House is really impressive and worth seeing. The building itself is huge and full of history, with amazing details inside and out. Walking through the rooms feels like stepping back in time, and there’s so much to look at you could easily spend hours there. The staff were friendly and happy to answer questions, which made the visit even better. Outside views of the house are just as stunning, especially if the weather is good. It’s the kind of place that makes you go “wow” when you first see it.

It's a huge pile of a place with plenty to see, enormous gardens designed by Capability Brown and a wealth of treasures on view. They are a bit economical with the truth regarding where the money actually came from: if truth be told, political fingers were very much in the till several centuries ago. Clearly nothing has changed! To be frank, I found it rather soulless and dark, especially on an autumn day that started somewhat gloomily. You may love it; I have seen country homes that I warmed to a lot more than this.

What a venue! So much history, so much style. We had our work conference here and it was amazing, the staff were attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was great, pastries and tea or coffee to start, mini fish and chips or vegetarian option, then charcuteri to finish. I look forward to revisiting to see the house. The House is closed for private functions every Friday & typically, I went on a Friday! 🤦 The walking trails, cafe & shop are still open though & I managed to get a few photos of the outside of the house. It is absolutely stunning & although I may have been able to get some more shots on the other side of the house, it was absolutely sweltering so I contented myself with these & will capture the rest when I can actually visit the property fully at some point. Definitely recommended, just not on a Friday!

The most beautiful palace we have ever visited. It is clear that the owners put great effort into ensuring visitors have access to a wealth of information and a truly enriching experience. The part open for sightseeing is absolutely magnificent – stunning ceiling paintings, the enchanting Heavenly Room, the impressive kitchen, and the elegant library hall. From the windows, you can admire the garden, not accessible to visitors, yet captivating with its carefully and imaginatively trimmed shrubs. The park area is vast, with sections available for free walks as well as paid entry. One of the highlights was spotting a herd of deer behind the fence, including two rare white ones. Truly breathtaking!

A beautiful house well preserved and the art and paintings are incredible. However it cost £22 to go in to the house and you only see a small part of the house. Couldn't go up to the very top and missed alot of levels. The garden is nice to explore with all the waterfalls

Amazing country house and well worth a day out. We drove just under two hours each way to get there and the schlep was totally justified. We spent about and hour and a half each in the gardens and house. The entrance price was £22 each on the door. There are a few options for food, including the Orangery restaurant and Garden Café. Food and drink is reasonably priced, good quality and offers plenty of choice. Souvenirs also cheaper than I have come to expect in such places. Parking is ample and located not too far from the house and gardens. The house is stunning. You don't see too much of it as the family is still living there, but what you do so - the State Rooms - are steeped in history and full of incredible treasures including the largest collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain outside Asia, stunning examples of marquetry and some incredible murals and celling scenes by Antonio Verrio. The Hell Staircase was a highlight for us. There are lots of friendly volunteers and a fantastic audio guide (priced at £3) to help you along. The gardens are expanisive. We wandered the Floral Tapestry, Garden of Surprises and Sculpture Gardens before running off to see the nearby town of Stamford. The gardens were in full bloom in late August and despite this being a summer Saturday, were not brimming with kids. The Garden of Surprises was quirky but not gimmicky, and the other parkland areas were beautiful. All in all, including a lunch stop, we spent a good 4 hours exploring Burghley House and felt this was an exceptional day out. Plenty of things for kids to do too. You should allow time to visit Stamford too; this is a lovely town. All in all, this is a lovely part of the UK!

National Trust description says it all: a fine example of medieval brick built castle. Information on site all up to usual NT standards. Good views from roof and battlements. An hour probably enough to explore and take in all the history. Easy to find, good parking and a fine church within the grounds.

We are Royal Oak Members who partner with National Trust, so we try to visit as many of their properties as we can when in a certain area. This one was a real gem. Parking was easy with a well marked lot nearby. The walk to the top is relatively easy, as the hand rail is actually formed into the wall, making grasping it easy. The steps are not steep, and one can stop on each floor to learn about the rooms, windows, and fireplaces and their significance. The Great Tower has been in the possession of the trust since 1925 and is very well maintained. On a brilliant day, the views from the top are magnificent. Well worth the effort of climbing to the top.

Absolutely amazing place - made even more special as it was a bright sunny day and the views from the top were fantastic. Beautiful grounds too. The church next to the castle was impressive!

What a stunning place!!!! So much history on the walls!! Over the years people have carved their names into the stone work!! I think the earliest is C15th!! Beautiful rooms , and a genuinely amazing story how this gorgeous building was saved from ruin!!!! One of my favourite NT locations!!! Wonderful views from the roof top!!! Xx

Definitely worth a visit, lovely castle. Great views from the top, welcoming staff and very informative staff too at the entrance and in the castle. Fun games for kids to play on the grass too.

A fantastic day out at Tattershall Castle. £10 entry if not paying gift aid and £11 if paying gift aid. 149 steps to the top of the Castle for fantastic views of local areas. Very interesting castle to visit, with multiple floors & great views from the top. The information boards are very helpful. When we visited (Sunday of August Bank Holiday) there were lots of activities in the grounds, for both adults & kids. The only downside is that there is no café on site, just a van selling snacks. But there are options in the village a short walk away.

We enjoyed this! The trains ran to time, every 30 minutes. We did a return journey & got off to spend a short while at far end where there is a pub (live music today, a Saturday in July) & a small cafe & gift shop, There's a fair amount of parking at the far end, & a large EV charging hub so you could start from this end & use the train to get to the promenade. There's a path alongside the railway, looks tarmacked the whole way & good for wheelchairs / pushchairs too - guess you might do a single trip & walk the other way (about 2km). The train has a wheelchair accessible carriage for 1 wheelchair or mobility scooter per trip. We got on without having to wait. Our group, 1 in wheelchair, 2 other adults & a dog fitted in the carriage nicely ..,a staff member was there to put ramp up & down, & safely lock it, without us waiting.

The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway is a narrow gauge railway that runs along the edge of the coast. It is a great place to visit with children. There is an exhibition showing the history of the railway. There is a nice cafe and gift shop and plenty of outside covered seating. The signal box is a great little pub.

Very good for value, lovely views. Definitely recommend again! ❤️ also did the crazy golf it was fun however the golf course itself wasn’t level so you can’t really aim right.

I'm up in Cleethorpes quite often as I have family who own a caravan nearby and I always make sure to drop in for a trip on the line. Staff are friendly and polite, the maps and timetables are easy to read, the shops are well-stocked and from an enthusiast's perspective, the fleet is absolutely nothing to sniff at! All in all, the CCLR is a must-visit if you're spending any amount of time in Cleethorpes. Photos are from the 2025 steam festival.

Brilliant railway very scenic and also the nature reserve with so many birds is great place to go also the signal box pub is a must they serve food and great beer cider and also vintage ales 👍

Took a visit with the family after not visiting for a few years. The jungle zoo was much larger than I remember and had more animals and insects too. Inside of the zoo you are greeted by a small wooden structure to buy tickets with prices being reasonable. As soon as you enter you see the animals and the kids love it. many photo opportunities (like the images below). There is also an outside area to see some amazing animals including a vulture. Parking is easy with council parking out front where you pay a small fee, alternatively across the road there is a free car park for people that visit the retail park. There are also good bus links. Will definitely visit again and I strongly recommend it to families.

We had a great time here, as it was recommended to us by the staff at the near by haven park. It was only £4 per child and £4.80 for adults which is a great price. You can also but got/pig feed for 30p per bag as you enter. We just over an hour there. There are snakes, spiders, various tropical animals like poison dart frogs and scorpions etc. There are meercats, pigs, monkeys etc. It's a great place for young children

This is a smallish zoological centre right on cleethorpes seafront. Good selection of animals, highlights include the parrots and monkeys! I can't comment on the tarantulas as I ran straight past them!! You can buy feed for the farm animals, and there is sanitising stations available if you do feed them.

This is a lovely place to visit with young kids. It's quite small & doesn't have a lot of funding but the animals are well looked after & the staff really care about them. We had a really nice time there. Thank you

Smallest zoo I’ve ever been to, only took us an hour to go round, the place itself was a bit dirty and smelly and although the cages were clean they were on the small side for a lot of the animals which I felt was unacceptable. George the Cockatoo was very vocal and made us smile.

Surprised to see how many animals there are in this smashing little privately owned zoo. Monkeys, birds, tortoises, insects - all sorts. Just be careful not to trip over Molly the tortoise who is often out for a wander around. Also nice that my wife was able to navigate around in her mobility scooter - even if Molly was a bit of an obstacle!

What a stunning, beautiful hidden gem of a Castle 🏰!!!! Beautiful grounds/gardens , outstanding views, absolutely wonderful grand castle, definitely worth every penny. Staff extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, so fabulous to see the garden's being tended by a team of grounds-people . Visited the farm shop too with a butcher selling a range of products. The coffee,snack food area fantastic, great coffee and we decided on sandwiches which were amazing ( freshly made ) could not fault anything.

Lovely few hours spent in gardens and park. I walked 6 miles. Would be a great place for outdoor yoga. Adventure playground well equipped. Very well trimmed bushes! I sat outside and ate lunch from the cafe truck...made a new friend, Freya, she was very beautiful....and very hairy. Bought a few gifts from the farm shop.

Had a memorable sunny day with my friends. The guides in the castle were so friendly and informative as were the rest of the staff. The castle and gardens were beautiful. Pity it's now closed for winter would make a beautiful setting for Christmas. Will definitely visit again i

Very welcoming. I go as a Historic Houses member living in Bourne for walks with my dog (on his 8 metre extending lead). You can walk (or cycle) the many hills around the lake and beyond of their huge estate. The gardens are lovely, although dogs are only allowed during certain times. The scenery is lovely, the many swans, cows, calves and Canada Geese are lovely. My dog loves poking the pheasants in the long grass and watching them fly off. The Castle itself has a lot of history and the guides are all too happy to answer all your questions. It’s filled with the many Coronation Thrones of past Monarchs, including Queen Victoria’s. The cafe is a barn with open doors filled with chairs and tables, a caravan outside serving food, drinks and ice cream. There is also a nice Farm Shop (bring cash.) Parking on site is free, with Disabled parking close to the pay area. The walks are all tarmac roads. Suitable for disability scooters. There is also croquet on the lawn to have a go at. Assistance Dogs welcome everywhere, including the house. See their own website for tickets and pricing. A highly recommended visit.

Attended Hagerty Festival of the Unexceptional today on the castle grounds. Great event for youngtimers fans, plenty of rare car makes and models, loved and beautifully restored to proudly roam the streets. It's a huge event, so you really need a few hours to see all vehicles. There are food stalls, car parts and vehicles sale area, and game area for kids. Although the event is accessible I could not find any accessible toilets. On the entrance/exit there is a village shop opened, with some craft sweets, preserves, and quality meat - really worth visiting. Buy your tickets for next year in advance, as some of them were sold out on the day of the event.

We only visited the Park & gardens, not the castle/house. All dog friendly on a Sunday, not during the week though apparently. Blue light card gives a £ off. Lovely grounds, with sweeping views to the lake and beyond. Cattle on the fields near the lake, but appeared friendly. Red kites flying overhead. Woodland walk, topiary and roses to smell. Small takeaway food trailer serving hot and cold snacks and drinks with seating available nearby. Plenty of free parking. Overall, it was a pleasant place to visit and walk around.

An absolute must to visit! Ample parking on site & a cafe, toilets, shop all available. The staff are very knowledgeable, helpful & friendly. Stunning castle & grounds; I've really struggled to whittle down my choices to only 50 photos to share with you! That's how picturesque it is. For period drama fans, a ball scene in Bridgerton was filmed here & for Royal fans, Charles & Camilla stayed here too when they were attending an event in the area. Although it's even ground & not very far to walk, there's not any shade so it gets extremely hot in the nice weather so there's a shuttle available if you don't want to expend the extra energy! I highly recommend Grimsthorpe as I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Can't say enough good things about the castle & the staff here

Superb experience for older kids as well. The literature definitely had us worried that this was heavily geared towards families with smaller kids. We had two older teenagers and one younger as well as four adults and we had a great day. The animals were clearly very well cared for and plenty of staff were working to keep them cleaned out and looked after. The facilities were clean and well kept including a LOT of adventure play equipment. If bringing smaller ones I recommend allowing plenty of time for your visit as you will likely be spending plenty of time here! Highly advise booking in advance as a premium is charged for paying on the door!

We’ve been Gold Pass members for a while now, and honestly, it’s the best money we’ve ever spent for family days out. Every single visit is a hit — whether it’s feeding the lambs, zooming around the soft play, or saying hello to the cheeky goats (who clearly run the place). The staff are always so friendly and genuinely brilliant with the kids — they somehow manage to make every activity feel personal and fun, even when it’s busy. Everything’s spotless, well organised, and there’s always something new to see or do. The seasonal events are incredible too — from the Easter egg hunts to the Christmas experience, they really go all in to make it magical. Orson absolutely adores it here — the tractors, the animals, the bouncy pillows, everything. It’s one of those rare places where you can easily spend the entire day and still not get through it all. If you’ve got little ones and haven’t been yet, go. If you have been, get the membership — you’ll use it constantly. Rand Farm Park has become our go-to happy place, rain or shine ❤️🐑🚜

This is a superb day out if you have children. There's so much to do and activities are both indoors and outdoors. We took a picnic but there are two places to buy food if you didnt want to eat outside. My only gripe is how the prices change depending on when you go. If you want to entertain your children here during school holidays then expect to pay pretty much double the price of non school holidays.

Great place, took children aged 8 and 5, and they have really enjoyed their day. Feed the animals, played on every single item there and have completely tired themselves out.

Absolutely love Rand Farm Park, the special events they put on just keep getting bigger and better, but have the same attention to detail. The timetable is always full with extras that are free to participate in. The animals well cared for. Facilities are always well cleaned and the food and drinks have always been good and priced on par with most places. A fabulous day out for the family even though our daughter is now 11, she still seems to love the Farm. Great value family fun all year round 😁

Amazing place for all ages so much to do and see food is amazing to or plenty of places for a picknick

Really lovely experience here at the farm. We went as part of the boxing day offer with my family for a day trip. There was loads to do and lots of animals to see. The tractor ride was lovely, and we even had a bit of sunshine 🌞. The best bit was definitely my children bottle feeding the baby calves, seeing a Jersey cow being milked and also the outdoor kids entertainment. Will be back in Summer with a picnic!

The Lincoln Zoo is a fantastic place for a family day out. The zoo is beautifully laid out, easy to navigate, and has excellent facilities throughout. The toilets were clean and well maintained, and we noticed good wheelchair and pushchair access across the grounds, which makes it very family-friendly. Parking was straightforward and close by, which is always a big plus. The enclosures are thoughtfully designed, giving the animals plenty of space while still allowing visitors a great view. Highlights for us were the butterfly house, which felt magical, and the reptile area, which was fascinating and well presented. The different shows and talks throughout the day were engaging and really added to the experience, helping us learn more about the animals. The café had a good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Overall, the zoo felt very welcoming, well cared for, and perfect for families of all ages. We’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

Brilliant family day out — worth every penny (almost!) We had an amazing time at Lincoln Zoo — it’s such a well-kept, friendly, and genuinely impressive place. The animals all look healthy and well cared for, the enclosures are spacious, and you can tell the staff really love what they do. The whole park feels clean, well laid out, and easy to get around even with little ones in tow. The highlights for us were definitely the big cats, the walk-through aviary, and Lemur Falls — which is absolutely brilliant (when it’s open!). Our only tiny gripe is that Lemur Falls is only open for half an hour twice a day. For the entry price — about £100 for a family of four — it’d be great if that section was open a bit longer, as it’s such a fun feature. That aside, it’s a full-day experience and genuinely good value once you’re in. Loads of places to sit, decent food options, and plenty for kids to do between animal areas. We’ll definitely be back — it’s become one of our new favourite family days out! 🦁🐧🦓

A Lovely Day at Lincoln Zoo We had a thoroughly enjoyable family trip to Lincoln Zoo today. The variety of animals was impressive, and the talks were both engaging and informative. Staff members were friendly and took the time to answer the many questions from visitors, which added a personal touch to the experience. There were a few areas that could be improved. Some paths—particularly near the bears, wolves, and goats—were not easily accessible for wheelchairs or electric wheelchairs. Additionally, a few enclosures could have been cleaner, such as the water areas for the otters and penguins, and the tanks near the crocodiles. The café staff seemed quite slow and lacked a sense of urgency, which led to a long queue forming. lastly the gift shop was ridiculously expensive! Despite these minor issues, we had a lovely day overall. Feeding the goats was a definite highlight and brought lots of smiles. Thank you for a memorable visit!

Not as big as the wildlife park, very friendly staff, all on flat ground so good for mobility issues except one viewing platform. Cafè is nice with a decent selection on the menus. As with all places like this, food is a tad expensive but for a treat its good. We saw most of the animals, didn't see the bear or otters tho. Easy to buy tickets on line too.

Nice place, big enclosures. Could do with a map or guidebook showing you where every animal is and talk times. When we got home we realised some of the animals we hadn't seen. Nice cafe too offering toasties, sandwiches and cakes among other things.

Absolutely lovely zoo. Extremely well maintained. Friendly staff. Our favourite was Lemur falls. We managed to stand with them twice (11:30 till 12.00 and 13:30 till 14:00). They have a variety of talks throughout the day and do animal experiences for an extra cost. The cafe was also amazing. Daughter had the best cheese toastie she has ever had and I enjoyed my tuna baked potato. Such a lovely escape. Thank you Lincoln Zoo, keep up the good work!

Well kept zoo and nice. Little bit expensive for the amount of time you can spend there. We walked round twice and stopped for a cake and coffee. We spent a total of around 2.5 hours there. Little one played in the park but because it was a hot day the slides were very hot (metal) and there was no shade for him. Toilets were clean, The whole zoo was clean , a part from the poo ( maybe dog ?) in the butterfly house. For the price of 3 of us to come to zoo, I personally wouldn't be returning. (We paid on the gate, as booking for tickets was closed at 10am , when we tried at 10.15am, we rang the zoo and the lady said you cant book tickets for the same day once they are open, but can show up)
