If you're looking for a quiet getaway, Khao Tao Beach is the perfect spot. The small beach offers beautiful views and crystal-clear water, while the surrounding mountains make for a picturesque backdrop. If you're looking for activities to do during your stay, Hua Hin has plenty to offer – from cycling to fishing to swimming in the lake. All of our holiday home properties provide all the amenities you could need, including comfortable beds and bathrooms with showers and bathtubs.
What a find! This small all-villa complex just south of Hua Hin is a real gem. There are 12 self-catering one- and two-bedroom villas set between the mountains on one side and the King’s reservoir on the other. The views are stunning, and the peaceful setting makes it easy to relax. The place has a relaxed, friendly vibe, partly because it’s designed for longer stays. It’s a great base to explore this beautiful part of Thailand, with plenty of local bars and restaurants nearby offering great food and a casual atmosphere. You can unwind in one of the two pools or stretch out on your huge private deck—perfect for soaking up the sun or enjoying a quiet evening. The villas are well-equipped, comfortable, and give you all the space you need. Whether you're here for a week or longer, it’s the perfect place to switch off. I’ll definitely be back!

From the moment you walk in the gate, you can’t help but begin to relax and unwind in this gorgeous oasis. Honestly, we cannot recommend Thirty Degrees in February more highly. Let us tell you a little of what makes it so special and a destination not to be missed! On entering the property you are met with so much greenery contrasted with the vibrant colours of the native gardens. They are just so beautiful and serene. There are two decent sized swimming pools, one situated between two ponds, and another towards the front. The staff take such pride in maintaining everything, and it is therefore spotlessly clean throughout. The villas are very spacious and exude a calm and tasteful ambiance. The location is for those who enjoy a quieter style of holiday, away from the more touristy hustle and bustle of the close by Hua Hin central town. You can easily access the main town and visit the cute markets and extensive restaurants by a taxi for 2-300 baht. (About 15 minutes) Thank you to the welcoming and friendly staff and hosts for their wonderful hospitality. Honestly it is just a beautiful gem. The European clientele escape their winter in February but we hope to return in Australia’s winter in the middle of the year. Just don’t tell too many!!!

One of the best hotel experiences ever - loved it even before the renovation but now it’s just perfect when they added second bathroom to 2-bedroom houses and a second bigger pool. Absolutely stunning view and a convenient location within 10 minutes walk to the most beautiful beach in HH. A bit in the middle of nowhere in terms of shopping and dining so a car or bike won’t harm, but this makes it perfectly quiet, outside and inside. Houses are perfectly sound insulated and far enough from each other that it feels like entire territory is yours only.

We stayed here, as a family of 3, for 12 nights in August 2025. Coming from 3 nights and days in Bangkok, this place on the outskirts of Hua Hin, was an island of tranquility. Very beautiful situated on the edge of a reservoir in beautiful grounds with little to no noise from the surroundings. The villa we rented was exactly as described and was nicely furnished with air con throughout. The WiFi was outstandingly fast (hitting up to to 900 meg) and perfect for either families with teenagers or those looking to work remotely. The grounds were constantly looked after and the staff as a whole were very helpful and informative when looking for advice on stuff to do locally. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to anyone.

What a lovely place to spend your vacation! This calm and quiet area contains 12 spacious villas, beutifully decorated. The bed is very comfortable. There are two swimmingpools and beautiful garden. All the staff is very nice and helpful. Just 10 minutes walk to a very nice beach with sunbeds and restaurant. We stayed for six weeks and will come back next year and stay longer.

30 Degrees in February is a beautiful resort tucked away in the beautiful laid back beach area of Khao Tao. Beautiful, clean, comfortable, well appointed guest houses with large decks, surrounded by flowering trees and shrubs and two large pools. The staff are kind and attentive. The Location is ideal, 2 minute walk to Khao Tao lake boardwalk, 3-4 restaurants 5 to 10 minute walk, 2 beautiful clean beaches 10 minute walk. There is also a great kite surfing area near the Best Western for beginners to enthusiasts. There is a golf course 5-10 minutes away that isn't plush but has a lot of peacocks and is inexpensive and good for a round or two. 30 Degrees will arrange rental of bicycle, scooter, car for transport. It's a quiet area that is perfect for bicycle riding, If your up for a long ride there is a bike path that will take you all the way to Takieb with a beach and tons of restaurants (the southern part of Hua Hin). I had my own car and walked most places. There are at least a dozen restaurants nearby and some small local markets for necessities. It is a 15 minute drive to Blueport and Village Market Malls, Cicada market, Bangkok Hospital... Hua Hin is a good size tourist town with all the the entertainment a typical beach town has to offer. In the other direction (south) is Pranburi a wonderful Thai beach town that is a gem with a lot to explore. 30 Degrees in February was perfect for me, I loved it here. Stayed a month and gave serious thought to staying longer but decided to lease a property instead. I really love this area and decided to move here.

Such a wonderful place you feel as though you are in the heart of Thailand with the Thai design Villas. Location is great, very close to Sai Noi Beach, close to Khao Tao Lake and all the superb restaurant's. Easy to get to Hua Hin for good shopping in the two big shopping malls. The staff are so nice and dedicated to your stay. Two pools to use both are large and warm. Open plan kitchen to living room, washing machine and electrical appliances . large bathroom and we had a one bedroom Villa with a large bedroom. Many Thanks Pete and Kristina
Peter M — Google review
Location is amazing. Only 10mins from CBD HUA HIN and there is almost Private beach like near by. There are two swimming pool and clean and modern room yet it has Thai flavour all around the resort. I think its for people who are looking for a quiet & peaceful holiday.

Pran Buri Forest Park, situated just a short drive from Hua Hin, is a natural gem boasting an extensive mangrove forest and tropical woodlands. Managed by the Office of Conservation Area Management, this protected area spans 700 rai and features a tranquil white sandy beach. Visitors can explore the diverse ecosystem via raised wooden walkways that wind through the park without disturbing its delicate balance.
Must do! A little out of the way but 30 mins on a moped 🏍️ Boardwalk through the mangroves and you will see many amazing blue and red mud crabs 🦀 We walked approximately 600m and took a small boat (450b for 1-4 pax) skippered by a gorgeous Thai lady who took us through the mangroves, out through a fishing village and to the mouth of the sea where she dropped us off on a beach which was 200m back to our starting point. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience 😎
Nikki B — Google review
Interesting little excursion. This park is apparently apart of conservation efforts in the area. A raised wooden path has been constructed through the mangrove to give visitors the opportunity to explore this environment. Information sign are dotted about the path to give you an idea of possible animals, insects or foliage you may see. Sadly not many of these are written in English. The route is a loop which take you back to the car park. Boat ride are available only during high season. Information center, cafe and toilets available near car park. Not push or wheelchair friendly in certain areas as trees have been left where the path was constructed.
Laura B — Google review
Very short walk, but it was beautiful and serene nevertheless. It's more like a mangrove swamp with lots of small crabs. If you go too early in the morning, it'll be low tide so no boats available.
KC — Google review
I can’t believe such a beautiful place is free to visit! The 45-minute boat ride costs only 500 THB per boat, and each boat can take up to six people — such a fair price! The lady who took us on the boat was very friendly. Even though she didn’t speak English, she kept pointing out different animals for us to see. We spotted some birds we couldn’t name and even a swimming lizard! If you come to Hua Hin and skip this place, you’re really missing out!
Yuzhu Z — Google review
Wonderful place to visit and walk along the trails among mangroves— took a boat tour and sighted the natures and fishing villages. If you are in Hua Hin, this is a must visit place.
Kyaw T — Google review
A casual spot for a quick 1- to 2-hour walk, Pran Buri Forest Park’s Mangrove Forest offers a peaceful and scenic experience. The wooden walkway is well-constructed and regularly maintained by staff, making the path easy to navigate. There are no steep inclines—just a flat, smooth trail throughout. As the walkway winds through the mangrove forest, there are plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife such as mudskippers, mud crabs, and—if you're lucky—the highly elusive and endangered mud lobster. A highlight of the trail is the watchtower located in the center of the forest. You can climb the three-story structure for a stunning 360-degree view of the surrounding mangroves. On a good day, the skies are bright and sunny, so be sure to bring water and a towel to stay cool and refreshed. Overall, it’s a very family-friendly destination—perfect for a relaxing nature walk.
Krisana V — Google review
The Pran Buri Mangrove Forest offers a beautiful circular boardwalk trail that winds through lush greenery. Walking at a relaxed pace, it takes about 40 minutes to complete. About halfway around, there’s the option to take a boat tour — but only during high tide. Just like in our case, the river at low tide doesn’t have enough water for the boats to pass. For the kids, the highlight was spotting the many colorful crabs that scuttle along the banks. They made a game of “collecting” each color with their eyes — a fun twist that kept them engaged the whole way. Admission is free, making it an easy and rewarding stop for families and nature lovers alike. There is a large parking lot for cars and buses, but it was not overcrowded. You should combine this trip with a river boat tour in the nearby fisher village, tonsee the mangrove trees from the river side as well

Great local temple of Pak Nam Pran. Used by locals instead of a stair machine at a gym. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. And views of the river

Chao Mae Tuptim Thong Shrine on top of a hill offers a peaceful and refreshing experience. It's a small Chinese style Buddhist shrine situated near Khao Tao and Pak Nam Pranburi.  Once there, you feel the serenity and are surrounded by a beautiful panoramic view of the Pranburi river and local communities below.

This is a very nice cable park, very well suited to practice foiling with the flat water and consistent cable pull so you can really focus on body balance on the foil and riding. Nice and relaxed sitting area to chill in between cable sessions. You can tell the cable operator to adjust the speed that you would like to be pulled at. The lake is chest deep all around so it's easy to water start after you fall. The cost is super reasonable. Helmets and life/impact vest provided. Highly recommend this fun place!

This is my best experience ever. The owner cares about your progress and makes sure you have the best time of your life. I have done this a lot of times throughout Thailand and this was by far my best experience

Our trip to the cable kite was great, we were beginners and Maurice was really nice and explained everything to us in detail. We both managed to complete a lap and had a great sense of achievement. Everything perfect!

Maurice and his team run a good operation. He's easy to talk to and the Kite Cable activity in itself is extremely worthwhile for families and groups. We have taken more than 20 people there at a time and Maurice gives everyone the attention they deserve.

Pa La-U Waterfall, Kaen Krachan National Park

Waterfalls
Nestled within the KaengKrachan National Park, about 60 km west of Hua Hin, Pa La-U Waterfall offers a picturesque setting with its 16 cascades and ancient forest teeming with rare wildlife. Visitors can embark on moderate to challenging hikes through unspoiled rainforest to reach the waterfall, where they can marvel at the natural beauty and take a refreshing dip in pools filled with wild carp fish.
Beautiful waterfalls with 5 levels that are available for tourists. In total the waterfalls have 15 levels which you can see on a map at the entrance. You can also feed fish here with food that can be bought for 10Baht at the entrance. In addition they have a small shop to buy refreshment and snacks. If you are planning to make your way up to level 5 make sure you bring enough water as it is a quite exhausting way. You can also swim here if you want. The water is cool and refreshing. Food is not allowed after level 1 so make sure you eat before you go further. There is a checkpoint after level 1 where you have to deposit your food to make sure no food goes further than level 1 but you are allowed to bring water. Entrance fee for adult foreigners is 300 Baht and for kids 150 Baht. For thai nationals it is 60 Baht and 30 Baht for kids. Vehicles are 30 Baht and motorcycles 20 Baht
Benjamin M — Google review
About an hour drive from Hua Hin city central to this local waterfall. The waterfall is under the park ranger maintenance and control. Theres small fee for enter. Its a great place to bring family for the time together. We visited during long weekend and theres were lots of local, foreigners and Bangkok people.
Sandee T — Google review
Nice drive to the park from Hua Hin on a winding small road. 300 Baht entrance fee for non-Thais and 30 Baht per car. I picked a rainy day, which had the advantage of the park being very quiet. At most of my walk I was alone. Disadvantage is that the rocks are extremely slippery. Friendly NP staff. Some signs are just in Thai and there was no mobile signal, so I couldn't translate it. If I understand it correctly, there is NO food or drinks allowed past the second waterfall. It's a sweaty and very slippery climb though.
Khun U — Google review
Very nice area with a lot of places to enjoy and rest in the cool forest. Wished you could even go more up, the adventure was limited up to stage 4. IMO there are too many fish, which makes it a bit difficult to get into the water. We have been there on a weekday and we’re lucky that the were not many visitors. Unfortunately they did not excepted my Thai ID card, as was mentioned wherefore I had to pay the high farang entry fee. But have to confess, it was worth it!
Peter K — Google review
Pa La-U Waterfall, entrance fee 60 baht, transportation fee 30 baht, great atmosphere, very natural, clear and cool water, the way up to the waterfall is not difficult, some rocks are quite slippery, so shoes must be suitable and have good grip.
Sutthinan C — Google review
The path is quite slippery and challenging. A little climb on rocks along the way. There re 5 floor of waterfall. I recommend 5th floor to enjoy less people and swimmable pool.
Sun S — Google review
Lovely river hike upstream. I climbed to level 5 on many past occasions, but had to stop at level 3 yesterday due to rain/ wet and slipper rocks. Loved it still!
Cute M — Google review
This is a somewhat remote location in the hills near the Myanmar border. There is a trail up to the biggest cascade that is steep and slippery in places but has had ropes put in place to assist you in the spots where you have to scramble up the most. The hike up and back is a nice workout. There are a few nice pools to swim in but there are a lot of fish loitering around looking for a handout and that can be a little off-putting despite what their presence indicates about the cleanliness and health of the water stream. They are fun to watch ascending the cataracts, though. There are several species of butterfly up there and don't be surprised if they land on you looking for salt from your sweat. People seemed pretty conscientious about their trash here, for the most part, but if you bring a bag and schlep some out that you might inevitably stumble across, you will be rewarded greatly by the Great Karma Chameleon of the Universe. We try to get up here a couple of times of year because it is such magical and beautiful place. Definitely, one of my favorite spots in Thailand.

Phraya Nakhon Cave

Mentioned on

Caverns & Caves
Nestled within Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, Phraya Nakhon Cave is a breathtaking natural wonder. The cave's enormous chamber houses the exquisite Kuha Karuhas Pavilion, a historic royal structure dating back to King Rama V's reign. Sunlight filters through the collapsed roof, casting an enchanting glow on the pavilion and creating a magical ambiance.
Very beautiful cave. Highly recommend a visit. You can either go by car or by boat. If you take the boat you skip the initial 500 hike which is quite steep. If you arrive by car there is plenty of parking space and vendors that sell water. Make sure you bring enough water! Second part of the hike is uphill quite steep but doable. You will be rewarded with great views at the end of the trail. Stunning views of the sun shining through the cave ceiling. Well worth a visit. There are toilets and restaurants on the beach at the base of the climb
Gerbrand B — Google review
This is one of the "must" sites to see along the upper gulf coast. Although you may have to really earn it. We went on October 22nd which was a nice hot day after quit a few wet ones. The boats would not run in the stormy seas so you will have to hike the first leg by the park entrance. Fee is 200 for foreigner, 100 for Thai. The hike can be strenuous if either physically limited, or have any ailments. After the first "up to the viewpoint" and down the backside you come up to the beach. A nice secluded shell filled beach that leads you to the one again strenuous (only because the humidity helps the sweat pour out) hike up towards the cave. The well maked path takes to the first cave system once the jagged limestone path levels off. Then down through a cave opening to the grand entrance of Phraya Nakhon Cave. The lighting causes for a very dramatic backdrop to the shine. Quite spectacular. And the temperature in quite nice dropping at least 8 to 10 degrees Celsius lower than the outside temperature. On a Wednesday it wasn't really crowded and with patience can have the whole place to yourself for the perfect photo opp.

Amazing spot nice views, to have the best light come 10.30 till 12.00. athe light on the temple is only in February. There are two mountains to be crossed. You need to be fit, children can do it as well. Ways down and up are with stones. The first mountain can be down by boat if the waves are not to high, u arrive rhen directly on the beach and miss the views from the first mountain. At the beach there is a good restaurant with good drinks and they toilettes. From there u can start the second mountain when u made it, there is only ashort way down tonrhe cave entry. At the beginning u can see monkeys Dusty at the second climb or on rhe beach. The cave is amazing we had a very food toir guide she showed is perfect spots for photos.

Stunning drive through the National Park, then a challenging walk to the cave. Spectacular scenery and wildlife on the walk. The cave itself is breathtaking, well worth the walk. I rode a motorbike from Hua Hin, took 1 hour, but amazing mountain's 👏.
Grant R — Google review
First of all, this cave is part of the Khao Sam Roi You national park. I recommend starting your day at the national park's ticket office. The ticket you buy here is valid for more than one attractions. I started my day with the mangrove forest around the ticket office area, then visited the Khao Daeng Viewpoint, after this Klong Khao Daeng (the boat trip price is not included in the ticket) and my last stop was Phraya Nakhon cave. I was riding a motorbike between the places. The cave can be reached by boats or walking. The motorboats are very loud and I prefer walking anyway so I hiked to the cave. Please note that it is a 2km distance. The first part of the road follows the sea shore, with wonderful views. It goes uphill first and then down to the beach. It is a bit rocky and you will definitely sweat a bit climbing here. Through the beach, you walk on flat surface among trees and sand, it is very pleasant (apart from the loud boats arriving every minute). Someone put swings on trees next to the beach, you may take nice photos here. There are also cafes and restaurant, bathrooms here to refresh if needed. The next part of the road takes you through a small forest part - apply mosquito repellent here if you haven't done it yet, they attack straight away! At the end of the forest road, you will see a big sign with many rules (how to dress, behave and so on) and a warning to understand your physical capabilities or limitations - because the next part of the road is very challenging. From now on, the road is mainly uphill on the natural terrain which has some steps built but it is mainly rocky and steep, sometimes a bit slippery. In the hot weather, it's not easy to complete the climb. Halfway up on the hill, you will find a resting stop with benches. The park also stations a first aid team here, which is reassuring. They are on standby for any emergencies or injuries. Also they sell (expensive) water. After climbing for about 500 meters, the last part of the road is finally downhill, believe me, you'll be grateful for that 😁 Please make sure you are dressed modestly to respect the Buddhist principles before entering the cave. The entrance is already impressive. I haven't seen a forest growing in a cave yet. The temple is in the second hall of the cave and if you are lucky, the sunshine will illuminate it. When I was there, I could admire it completely alone (low season) and it was a wonderful experience.

Parking: 10B motorcycle, 20B car Entrance to national park: 100B foreigner, 40B Thai Hike to Phraya Nakhon Cave: 1. 515m along the coast, up and down to reach Laem Sala beach 2. Around 1km flat along the beach. There's a restaurant. 3. 430m mostly up through the forest to the cave entrance. The path is shaded, mostly dirt, sharp rocks and makeshift steps. Physically demanding but very rewarding. Water can be bought at the entrance. Closed shoes recommended.
Gregor H — Google review
It's a cave. Steep. A wall runs along the path which is sometimes better. I'm fit. Still took me an hour . Take water . Round a big hill. Then down a cave system. Through 2 chambers into a 3rd which had the temple . 200 baht for adults 100 for kids. . Well worth it.
Lee W — Google review
Wonderful sight to behold. The way there comprises 2 climbs with a walk along a beach in between. The climbs are treacherous but I saw many out of shape people and a few with difficulty in walking also doing it. Along the first climb, you'll be treated to magnificent views of the sea and beach. When you finally reach the cave, it's a spectacle to marvel. They've built a shrine in the cave and there are more things to explore once inside the cave. It's definitely worth the effort. This is something not to be missed.

Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, loosely translated as "the mountain with 300 peaks," is a 98-sq-km marine national park featuring white sand beaches and the renowned Phraya Nakhon Cave. The park offers diverse attractions such as pools, swamps, caves, and abundant wildlife, making it an ideal destination for families. Bueng Bua within the park is a stunning sight worth visiting, offering boat tours through the fresh-water marshland.
This was my 3rd time here. I’ll never get tired of coming back and means a lot to me! Magical place! This is a place the requires a lot of walking, up and down the mountain, make sure you’re fit enough to walk for a long distance in the heat, but once you arrive to the center inside the mountain, you can chill with the amazing views!! Loads of steps up and down but half way you got toilets and a nice restaurant to refresh with food and drinks. Also toilets. Half way there is a beach too. You can also take the boat the other way around making it easier to reach the beach (half way)

There are so many different places that you can experience in this National Park.It was so much fun. We decided that we were going to do the one hour boat tour. The mountains are just stunning and the views are beautiful. Be careful with the monkeys. They're very aggressive with food.If they see you have anything, they'll try to take it from you.If your car is open. They will go in your vehicles and they will climb on your vehicles.

This is definitely worth checking out while you’re in Hua Hin! It’s a bit of a “hike” (I used quotes because it’s mostly stairs 🤷‍♂️), but totally worth it, but here a a couple of things to know before you go. First, you have a choice of walking/hiking there or taking a boat. I took the boat cause I wanted to be on the water, beach is so beautiful here. If you take the boat, bring sandals because you must walk into the ocean a bit to climb onto the boat. If you walk, it looks like an equally beautiful walk; the natural landscape here is beautiful. One last tip: while in line, a local asked us if I wanted to split the cost of the boat with her and her daughter. I agreed (if I recall correctly, paid 200 of the 400 TBH total), and this is an important point. This very cool and nice local girl informed me that she was happy I agreed because she claimed that the people operating the boat-ride service will often try to add a lil foreigner tax if you’re not in the “know.” She told me that they will usually tell foreigners that it is 400 TBH per person, when the actual cost is 400 TBH total for the ride, which can be split amongst the passengers in anyway they see fit. Ergo, according to this cool local girl I was fortunate enough met there, if they tell you that it’s 400 per passenger, it’s definitely a foreigner tax haha 🤣. Back to the “hike”, I wore sandals to get on the boat and for the hike, and I was totally fine. I’m not the Michael Phelps of hiking nor anything like that 😝 , just saying that if you’re concerned, might wanna bring a towel and a pair of shoes to change into after the boat ride. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s mostly stairs you’re climbing, but they are stairs carved out of rock or made of wooden logs, you know like almost kinda like “natural” stairs, not something built from Home Depot supplies. The “stairs” are often uneven, slippery, jagged, etc., but I did it in sandals and I’m a 40+ yr old dood, so…. It is not the shortest “hike” haha and it can get hot af, so bring water. Once you get to the end, totally worth it tho. There’s a couple of fake/statue monks on display in the cave so don’t let those freak you out haha 😂. But yeah fr tho, totally worth it. Once you’re back to the beach the boat dropped you off at, there’s a really good local restaurant there selling some delicious, grub food there. So after the “hike”, grab some good local eats and a fresh coconut water 😋. One last thing, when we first arrived, I was instructed to remember the number of the boat that dropped me off, which I did, but didn’t seem to matter later 🤷‍♂️ but might be a good idea to jot it down somewhere for Justin (just in case lol). Enjoy your trip. @CBD-travelchannel

Beautiful national park. Was quiet when we went so felt off the beaten path. Great food options near the cave. We sat on the beach to eat. Well maintained hiking trails and frequent restrooms. We saw some friendly stray dogs and dusky langur monkeys.

Kui Buri National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Kui Buri National Park is a verdant forest with scenic driving tours that offer glimpses of Asian elephants and other wildlife. I had an enjoyable journey there with a close friend, where we encountered wild bulls and Thai elephants residing near local homes and pineapple farms. The fresh air was invigorating, and camping amidst the greenery was an unforgettable experience.
We stayed at Vana Varin, and the receptionist there helped us find the taxi driver that drove us to the national park and waited about 3 hours for us, while we took the Safari, and drove us back to the hotel, except we asked him to recommend a restaurant for him to leave us at instead.. this service cost baht 2600. Tickets to enter the national park were baht 200 p/person, and we had to pay an additional baht 850 for one of their vehicles with driver, plus a guide. We also hired a pair of binoculars for baht 50. This was a memorable experience, as we sat in the back of an open vehicle and drove through vast amounts of forest looking for elephants.. apparently there are around 300 elephants in the national park. We were so lucky to see 11 elephants, and they are roaming 100% freely.. we were not even permitted to stand downwind from the elephants and had to keep our distance. The setting was stunning. Our guide was friendly.

We did the wild elephant watching in Kui Buri National Park and it was incredible! We came here to the enterace first for information then headed to the elephant watching area to buy tickets. Don't fall for the tours if you're staying in Hua Hin, they're over priced. We hired a car between 3 of us which was 1500 baht, then 200 baht per person for park enterance, and 850 baht for the truck, driver and guide between us. Our guide and driver were great and we were lucky enough to see about 20 wild elephant as well as other animals!

Excellent experience and a highlight of our Thailand trip. We had our own car which made getting to the park much easier and cheaper than a private tour. We arrived at 2pm and set off into the park straight away. After a short trip we were guided to a group of 25+ Elephants. Couldn't recommend this highly enough.

Visited October 23, 2025: Wow. This was an INCREDIBLE National park! We booked a private tour through Viator with Ken Diamond Tour Hua Hin (about $140/person for park entry, private 4x4, dinner, English speaking guide, and transportation to and from Hua Hin). Our guide accompanied us on the drive through the park so we could ask questions in English. Because it was just us, we were able to take our time at every stop we made. I would have not enjoyed this experience as much in a shared group 4x4. Because we booked a tour with transport, I can’t speak for the process of getting your tickets at the park, getting assigned a 4x4, or the English proficiency of the drivers and park staff who accompany you as our guide took care of everything and made it seamless. (I would recommend a guide). But the experience was incredible. The park scenery is absolutely stunning. We saw so many gaur and their babies and 3 male elephants from afar! We were grateful to see any at all as we knew the possibility of seeing none. We stopped at 4 or 5 different spots. The drive was 7km into the park, and 7km back out the same way so you have the chance to check out viewpoints again to see if more elephants have come about. The staff are always talking to each other on radio to alert elephant sightings to make sure you see them (if there are any). Binoculars are 100baht in the visitor center where the tickets are purchased. Get the big ones, we used them a lot! This is a big park with a lot of thick trees and greenery for them to hide in. It was fun seeing the elephants little trails through the brush off the sides of the roads, and knocked over trees and branches. Signs they are around! The weather was perfect on the day we visited. Sunny and very windy so it was almost chilly by sunset! Not too hot at all, even when we started at around 3pm. But I recommend good sun protection since the 4x4’s are open to the elements. We had UV protection jackets and hats, plus a lot of sunscreen. The vehicle we were in had 3 umbrellas so if it were raining we would have had protection too. I can’t speak for that in all national park trucks though. There are toilets in decent condition by the visitor center. They have toilet paper! I also want to add - I’m surprised and saddened by a lot of negative people in the reviews here who can’t appreciate a place for what it is. The entire point of visiting a national park, to MAYBE see elephants, is that these beautiful animals are WILD and untouched by humans (as they should be) vs the unfortunate alternative of abuse and tourism cash grabs that is rampant in this part of the world (riding, bathing, unethical practices). If in the event you don’t see any, but you can’t find beauty in the other animals, birds, insects flying around, plants, and scenic beauty, that’s a YOU problem. If you do see some but at a very long distance and complain that there aren’t roads to get you selfishly closer to them or you can’t appreciate the fact that your own two eyes, even with binoculars, have seen these endangered animals live their lives safely from afar, that’s a YOU problem. Everyone should know the risk of price vs not seeing any elephants here, or seeing them from several hundred meters away. It’s luck! Enjoy the experience! ❤️

If you want see elephants in Thailand, this is the ONLY place to do it. Eco tourism at its finest, most of Asia should take a big example from this institution. An abandoned setting deep in the jungle near the Burmese border and limited daily visitors allow this national park to flourish like almost none in the region. There’s only a 7.5km dirt road with four viewpoints along the way, to stop and lookout. It never feels overcrowded, it never feels like too close to disturb the animals natural behaviour. That being said, 100 Baht rent for binoculars is money well spent. We were able to 17 wild elephants, countless Gaurs and lots of birds including hornbills, eagles, kingfishers and egrets in the short span of only 3-4 hours. Please support this place instead of visiting any of the countless Thai elephant “sanctuaries”. This is how animal tourism should be!

We went wild elephant watching at Kui Buri National Park! The park entrance fee was 200 baht per person, and the truck with a driver and guide cost 850 baht in total. Our guide and driver were fantastic, and we were lucky enough to spot around 40 wild elephants, along with other wildlife. We patiently tracked and waited for the elephants, and late afternoon turned out to be the perfect time for it. We also got a close look at a hornbill, some deer, and junglefowl. Worth a visit. Best either you hire a car to get here as town is not that close. I would love to visit again.

A must-visit for wildlife lovers! Driving through scenic forest trails, you’ll have the chance to spot majestic wild elephants grazing peacefully and herds of gaur roaming the open grasslands. The park is home to hornbills, deer, and many other species, making every visit a true safari experience in Thailand. The peaceful atmosphere, stunning mountain views, and close encounters with nature make Kui Buri an unforgettable adventure.

Wat Ao Noi is a beautiful temple located on the seafront, near the Rybatskoe village. The wooden structure of the temple is special and offers a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Nearby, visitors can explore Khan Kradai Cave, which houses reclining Buddha images in its first two chambers. Climbing up the stairs to the cave entrance provides a great view of the beach and fishing boats.
The local temple is set up close to the bay. There has a beautiful church and the sightseeing around the temple but they will be close at 5 p.m. So you can't visit the cave to see the big bhuda.

Small teak temple. It's very clean and looked after. A Monk was there to provide spiritual guidance and that was good. Interesting painting's. A beautiful spot near a small fishing bay. Excellent toilets if you need to stop. The climb up to the cave is recommended, Saturday afternoon and we were the only ones in the cave. It's quite large and whist not beautiful it's worth 30 minutes and some exercise.

Khao Chong Krachok is a monastery located on a hill, accessible by climbing nearly 400 steps. The ascent offers stunning views of the coastline from the top. However, visitors should be cautious of the mischievous and disease-carrying monkeys that inhabit the area. Despite this, the friendly monks maintain cleanliness by sweeping the stairs daily. The temple itself is monkey-free due to protective measures in place.
This was a really beautiful viewpoint in Prachuap. Great view from over the white beach and the sea. To get there is a bit of a challenge. It's a quite steep hike upstairs while avoiding monkeys in the meantime. Downstairs are sticks available for if the monkeys will bother you, but I went without and it wasn't really a problem.

I had the opportunity to visit this Temple in Prachuap Khiri Khan and can say that it was an unforgettable experience. Climbing the 396 steps was a bit of a challenge, but the view that awaits you at the top makes every effort worth it. The view of the surrounding landscape and the sea is breathtaking and ideal for photos. I found the quiet atmosphere particularly pleasant. The monkeys that live on the way to the temple complex were peaceful and not at all intrusive - they seem to be used to visitors and are not disturbed. This adds to the relaxed mood of the place. The temple itself is also very beautifully designed and invites you to linger. It is a perfect place to experience the culture of Thailand while enjoying nature. I can recommend a visit to Wat Ao Noi to anyone who is looking for both variety and a wonderful view. A real insider tip in Prachuap Khiri Khan!

Great view but make sure to pick a walking stick from the entrance to walk up along with as there are lots of monkeys. When our little girl tried to drink some water, the monkeys tried to attack and we didn't have any stick to scare them away so we didn't go till the top but it's a great view from view point 1,2 and 3.
Lelles T — Google review
Very worthwhile. World class. Rain or shine this is a must see. Do not bring plastic bags. If you are scared they have a big stick you can tap the ground with to tell the monkey no.
Dornia — Google review
Worth the climb up 300+ stairs - the views are fantastic. At the bottom of the stairs, they have bamboo sticks for you to carry to keep the monkeys from jumping on you. It seems just carrying the stick (and keeping all food and water bottles zipped in your pack) is enough to keep them away. When you get to the top of the stairs, there's a closed gate, but don't turn back - it's unlocked. Go through the gate and enjoy views of two bays, the city of Prachuap, and the mountains separating Thailand and Burma. Explore around a bit - there are two other gates, one leading to a small cave, and the other leading to another view point, accessed by climbing down a steep metal ladder. Overall it's worth the effort to climb up here, but as for the temple itself, it's small and not so ornate. Lots of monkey poop on the stairs as well.
John K — Google review
Don't do what I did and hike this route in the middle of the day. It was like a suana. Short 10mins hike, the monkeys are pretty tame. Bring tapping stick provided at the bottom of the path to ward off unwanted attentions. The view up the top is majestic. Definitely worth the hike. Tip there is 3 different paths up to the top. Enjoy.
Nisit P — Google review
Beautiful views from the top. Very friendly monk too. They keep the stairs clean by sweeping each day. The monkeys are great, but aren't afraid of humans in the slightest. You'll have to walk around them as you go to the stairs. The temple itself doesn't have any monkeys, which are kept out with a wire door and electric fences. To find the Chong Krachop view, you have to go out the door at the North side, down the path, and then down the ladder. Not for those who are scared of heights.

Wat Khao Chong Krachok

Ascending to the peak on a scorching day proved to be a challenging endeavor, however, the arduous journey was undeniably rewarding due to the awe-inspiring panorama that unfolded. It is advisable to bring along hydration in the form of a water container, don protective headgear against sun rays, and remain vigilant towards mischievous primates.
You can see the white temple atop the hill from anywhere in town. Just abt 20 min climb up, you can overlook the city and Prachuap bay. A breathtaking view and a peaceful atmostphere. Not crowded even on weekends or public holidays. There are many monkeys on the way, but as long as you don't bring food or disturb them, it is not a problem. No monkeys inside the temple yard. I came here at different parts of the day, in the early morning for sunrise, end of the day for sunset and at noon. It is beautiful at any time. Great to be here! For me, this place is the highlight of the city and a place should not miss when you visit Prachuap.

A temple positioned at the top of a hill overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. 🏞️ Spectacular views. From the top you’ll have amazing views of the gulf, mountains, and the town below. To get to the top you’ll have to navigate 396 stairs and dozens of monkeys. The monkeys here weren’t aggressive towards me as I have experienced in other places. They basically leave you alone until you pull out food. Even then, they didn’t try to grab the food from me or jump on me. They did swarm me and expect the food, which I happily provided. It can be intimidating as they are wild monkeys and there are a lot of them. At the bottom of the stairs there will be someone offering to sell you bags of corn to feed the monkeys and there is also monkey food (possibly dog food) available to purchase inside the temple grounds. I recommend getting some corn and tossing it to them. They seem to prefer that to the monkey food. 🐒 They come out of the woodwork when they sense food. There are no fees for this amazing experience. There are cold drinks at the top provided by the temple. No charge for the drinks, but there’s a donation box where you can give as much as you want. There are many photo ops at the top with different angles from the town to the sea. There’s a bell you can ring too. 🔔 make a wish before you get to the top and ring the bell three times for it to come true. (If your wish comes true you have to carry water to the top next time you visit 😜) There’s also a cave you should visit that’s accessible from inside the temple grounds. Go through a closed gate and down thirty something stairs to access the cave. There’s a surprise platform for viewing as well. About an hour from Hua Hin city center, and well worth the drive Original Review: December 2024 FOUR STARS (Excellent) Superior. Memorable, high-quality food; unique environment; notable service. Must see in prachuap. Amazing views. I recommend to go before sunset. Recommend to park motorbike little bit further from entrance as there were a lot of monkeys. Its not very high, so its easy for everyone to go up. Beware of monkeys on stairs so its better if you take something to your hands. You Can buy a water up there and take a merit. We went out of season so there was just monks.

Met a kind monk on the way up who let me in even though the temple wasn't officially open yet. The path was filled with monkeys, adding to the adventure. The sunrise view from the top is absolutely worth it – a beautiful climb with stunning views of the city, mountains, and seaside.

I never though that I would visit such a magnificent place as Wat Khao Chong Krachok, in Prachuap Khiri Khan, this is such a stunning temple that offers both spiritual solace and breathtaking panoramic views. Built on top of a hill, visitors first must climb a staircase of over 396 steps to reach the top, then they have go through a herd of wild monkeys and finally the blaazen sun lights to reach the top where they are rewarded with bird eyes view of the town, coastline, and surrounding countryside. The temple features beautiful statues, peaceful surroundings, coupled with a near perfect atmosphere reflection to gain inner peace. It’s a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a peaceful escape with a view. Don't forget to bring along a pole or stick to wade off the wild monkeys along the way. Remember these are wild monkeys, they can attack and bite when provoke.

Without a doubt a must do when in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Free to do and an amazing view from the top. I arrived around 9AM to beat the heat (except for the resting points there's little shadow on the way up) and followed the suggested monkey precautions (take a stick at the bottom,no visible food/drinks, be careful with your cellphone). While I was going up,all the monkeys were coming down but I kept my distance and so did they,no issues there. The second half (after the no feeding point) there were almost no monkeys. After 396 stairs, you arrive at the top (fenced,so no monkeys there) and there's a fridge with cold drinks in exchange for a donation. There's also a small cave worth visiting with a little "glass floor" viewpoint if you can do about 25 more stairs. When descending ,to my surprise, almost no monkeys except for at the very bottom, I assume they had just been fed. I'd recommend using your stick for support instead of the railings because there's quite a lot of monkey poop on the railings. Regarding parking, Some vendors tried to convince me to park my motorcycle at the temple across the street. Instead I parked around the corner at the big square next to the monkey statue. When coming back,a monkey was sitting on the motorcycle, trying to steal the mirrors (and he was very close to succeeding) and it took some effort and the help of a local to get him off the motorcycle. So probably best to either park with the vendors or a little further away, for example at the government building with guards across the street.

Certainly the best place to visit in the city. Went there at 7am on a public holiday. Only one other person was there. Monkeys were all over the stairs but weren't aggressiv. But I'd still recommend taking a stick which are placed at the bottom of the stairs in a big vase. There were also a few peaceful dogs. It's probably best to not take any food, luggage or backpacks. Walking up doesn't take that long. Maybe 15 minutes. Overall great temple and the scenic views are spectacular especially in the morning. I will come back here whenever I'm in the area.

Nice temple on the top of mountain. On the top you can have some drink and pay by donation to temple. The view is beautiful and can see all 3 bays. There are some path to climb down to see the hole in the mountain .Just be careful monkey on the way, can borrow the stick from banana seller downstairs to make the sound and make them walk away

Military Bases & Facilities
Royal Thai Air Force Corps, Wing 5 is home to Ao Manao, also known as Lime Bay. To access the beach, visitors must enter through the base entrance and register with the military. The process involves providing personal details such as name, nationality, passport number, and entry/exit times. However, there seems to be little verification of this information. The area is kept clean by the military presence.
Beautiful beach and nature surrounding which once used to be the historical base of world war II. And the atmosphere on those day are still remained. We are appreciated to be there. Thanks with regards to Air force Division 5 for open to public with a friendly smile of soldiers, they are warm and thoughtful.

Ao Manao beach

Mentioned on
1 list
Beach
Outdoor Activities
Ao Manao beach is a stunning location in Thailand that often escapes the attention of tourists. Despite this, it undoubtedly ranks as one of the country's most picturesque beaches. The wide expanse of clean sand and shallow waters make for a beautiful setting to relax and take in the natural beauty around you. However, visitors should be aware that the beach closes at 6 pm, so it's important to plan accordingly to ensure you have ample time to enjoy everything it has to offer.
What's not to LOVE! After 4 months of travelling through Indonesia Malaysia & Thailand, this is one of the best beaches we have come across; definitely ranked in our top five matching the Gili Islands. Access 6am to 6pm as Military owed Air base. Toilets/showers, eateries, chairs/shade. Do tend to lose the sun about 4pm during February which then brings locals down to the area... beautifully gorgeous, as are the sunrises. Safe access to sandy warm waters.
Skram J — Google review
Big disappointment. Great for pictures and for eating cheap. Windy, hard sand, water not inviting at all. You don't see 1 person in the water, not to say swimming. The mountains around are beautiful. And the city itself, dead. Which l felt very bad for the locals. Tons of places to eat and tons of places to stay ( search on your own before booking anywhere) but all empty. The fisherman's village( very north of the bay) is the best place to stay. Stunning view, very charming, not windy and the restaurant Lung Yai Pu Pen has amazing seafood, ocean front close to the nature reserve. Was our spot for 1 week, last one of the year. Other than that...will not come back.

Very nice beach with clear waters and small ripples. The views are amazing and the area is relatively clean. You can rent a chair with table and it’s shaded well 20b. They also sell food, drinks and have toys you can rent like small/large inner tube floats 20b/50b. Jet ski rental and banana boat ride. Food and drinks are reasonably priced for the beach. Highly recommended

Beautiful beach that's kept and owned by the Thai royal airforce. If you are around hua hin it's worth a shout. Toilet only 3 baht Shower only 5 baht Plenty of food options for Thai food and ice scream Only 20 baht for a chair Nice and quiet Lovely beach

Nice beach to spend a few hours. Not stunning, but still clean. Toilet near food court, reasonable prices at food court. Seats were 20 baht each in Dec 2022.

Beautiful beach. Perfect pit stop if you're driving down the gulf of Thailand. Came midweek and it was so peaceful and quiet. On the whole stretch, only saw about 5 other visitors. Note the beach is on a military site so you have to pass a checkpoint, but the guards were very friendly. Opens 6am to 6pm. Lots of food and drink stalls line the beach. If you come from the Prachuap Khiri Khan town side, you'll get to drive across a runway, which is very cool.

Hat Wanakorn National Park

Nature & Parks
Parks
Hat Wanakorn National Park is a serene and picturesque destination nestled between Khao Ta Mong Lai Forest Park and Klong Wan. The park boasts a stunning beachfront adorned with pine trees, offering breathtaking sunrise views and excellent snorkeling opportunities among the coral reefs. Visitors can explore scenic shoreline trails, observe diverse birdlife in the bamboo, rosewood, and myrtle forest, and enjoy peaceful camping experiences along the undeveloped beach.
The park was beautiful and peaceful. The staff were friendly and polite. The facilities were great too, and wheelchair accessible! We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, especially the walk on the beach at sunrise. We saw lots of little critters in the ocean. Additional: Housing: You can rent houses or just pay a fee to set up your tent. Bicycles: You can rent bicycles for 50 baht per bike per hour and go one a short but pretty bicycle trail with lots of birds and butterflies to be seen. They're a little rusty, but it was still fun. Snorkeling: We didn't try it because we didn't have time but it looked very promising. If I remember right the fee for Thai citizens is 500 baht not including the boat and 800. The boat coats 35 baht or something. They said the boat ride is 15-20 mins and the total snorkeling trip is around 3 hours. If I understand correctly, there must be at least 15 people going though, in order to get the boat. Boat: You can take a boat to a nearby island just for fun, I believe. Food: There is a canteen selling freshly made Thai cuisine. It was fresh and yummy, served within 20-30 minutes of ordering. We got rice for only 10 baht per cup, chicken, cashew and bell pepper dish for only 120 baht for a serving enough for 2 people, and pad Thai for 50 baht per plate. You can buy water or other basic essentials as well. Downside: There was an insane amount of mosquitos in the evening. Definitely recommend stocking up on mosquito repellent if you plan on camping!

Beautiful sea side national park. Feb.2025. Not busy at all. Camping allowed by beach area. A few people place a tent and relax. Also, They have many chalets to rent. I paid the entrance fee . ( check my picture) 130 baht. There are many parking spaces under the tree. A restaurant and a cafe is there. Q

Spent the night sleeping at the beach, it was very lovely. Plenty of toilets and shower, food starting 7/7:30 in the morning, camping equipment for rent, plenty of wildlife to see, simply amazing!

I felt very good when I stayed here. The atmosphere here is natural, there are many trees, it feels cool and shady. There are both rooms and tents to stay here. I stayed in a room with the sea at the back of the room and I really liked it, both the sound of the waves and the cool wind. In addition, I also rode a bicycle in the park to see the view of nature and the sea, which is like exercising your legs while enjoying the beautiful view. This is another place that I like.

Superb natural environment. The beach is clean and the surrounding area for canning is very quiet and clean. There are plenty of public restrooms and shower areas for campers. Rooms and houses are also available for rent. There is a cafe and a restaurant inside. There are hiking and biking trails as well.

Personally, this park has taken me back down a memory lane of Thailand a decade or two ago. It is super peaceful, quiet, and not many tourists. Most people who are camping and staying are small and big families of thais. It is honestly refreshing to see coming from big cities like Phuket, Bangkok or Chiang Mai. The price of entry seems to be a topic of discussion here. In my opinion, it really isn’t overpriced even for foreigners (20b entry for a Thai and 100b for a foreigner). And to add to my point, camping is free of charge for as many days as you’d like unless you bring a big trailer or mobile home (200-400b per night). I’ve been to national parks that would charge 200-600b entry per foreigner. So pretty grateful for the price here, knowing they could charge that much more but choose not to. The national park is well-kept and all staffs are super friendly and welcoming. Probably because they are well-paid and well-cared for. The bathrooms are clean and the staff cleans them out multiple times a day. All the more reasons to pay the necessary costs for staying here. There is a restaurant onsite that opens from 8am until 5pm and coffee shop with AC that opens from 7am until 4.30pm (the hours varies depending on staff seminars and holidays). The campground is peaceful, shaded, and right on the beach. For those wondering about charging station, there is a charging station at the tourist center that you can use. There are also beach front houses available for rent as well. Price ranges from 700b per day and up. Truly a hidden gem 💎

Firstly you should come early in the morning so you can enjoy the silence and spirit of that stunning tempel. There is a big golden Buddha next to the car park , and after that take a short walk up to the main temple. It looks amazing from the outside, but make sure to go up to the second floor as well where you will find some jaw-dropping panoramic views, with great photo opportunities.

After reading reviews I was doubting about visiting this place… but absolutely worthwhile to visit. Great Island with a fantastic white beach and and great snorkeling opportunities right next to the beach. Perfect thai food, people are proud on what they cook! Staff is very friendly. People who really look for an luxury environment should not go here: the rooms are perfectly fine, but need some refurbishment, same like the pool and other things on the island. But if you can look past these flaws, you will have a great stay! No doubt about it!

Are you looking for a relaxing place with all the comforts? Koh Talu is the place for you. Everything was perfect. Very helpful, kind and smiling staff. The girls at the reception are lovely and helped me in different situations. The manager, mister Thu, makes you feel at home. I completed the open water diver course. The people at the restaurant are very sociable. I spent some wonderful moments at sea with the guys from the dive center, mister Boy and Egg. The food is very good. The bungalows is simple and very comfortable. There are many activities ideal for 3 days: snorkelling, kayaking, fishing, sup, turtle, trekking in the jungle to see the sunrise etc etc Thank you so much See you soon Koh Talu

Staying here at Koh Talu was one of the best experiences/ trips I have ever done. I stayed here 3 nights and I can’t wait to come back again. I went snorkeling many times, I went fishing, I went kayaking, i hiked to a viewpoint , I relaxed in the beautiful beach. I went octopus fishing and caught 4 octopus and they made sashimi for us. Also they have a spot for sea turtle conservation. I fed the turtles fish. It was really cool. The food everyday was incredible, 3 times per day. There was so much food, fruit, deserts. All the workers are friendly and took good care of us. The room was nice and cozy. The AC was good. Everything was clean. Mr. Tu took care of everything on the island and made sure the stay was incredible. Honestly this is probably my favorite spot in Thailand now

Not sure what scam they are running but I hope this review gets managements attention We were a family of 9 that was looking forward to visit the island and I was looking forward to do an honest Google and Youtube review. However the trip ende before even starting because of their dishonest pricing and conflicting information. On their website all prices and information are clearly stated. On the website it also says: "Exclusive Privilege for Koh Talu On Shore Guests. Enjoy an easy day trip to Koh Talu — just 20 steps from the hotel to our private pier and a 20-minute boat ride — at a special price of only 1,200 THB (regular price 1,600 THB) for guests booking through Direct Booking only." I reached out to their sales office by e-mail to make a reservation for hotel and daytour and received this reply: "The One Day Trip price to Koh Talu that you saw is indeed a special rate, but it is only available when booking directly through our website. If you are interested, you may proceed to book your room along with the day trip activity directly on our website. " So as instructed I followed the information and downloaded Line and sent a reservation request online. They did anwser fast but wrote: "Sorry, what you see is an old promotion and the price is not available during long holidays." I am sorry to say that these conditions were nowhere stated on their website and as the mistake is apparently on their side they should honor it. Being 9 adults a 400thb difference still ends up to be quite much. Due to all this, we decided to cancel everything and spend our money somewhere else as I do not believe this was properly managed by the resort.
Navid G — Google review
We had a great time there although the weather was not as nice as we wished. The food was delicious: every meal was great. There are activities that you can join. The whole team is very nice friendly and professional. We would definitely revisit when we have a chance in the future. Thank you!

Took a day trip, arranged by the resort. The service was good and the island was beautiful. It’s a good day trip from Hua Hin for anyone who wants an island adventure. The speed board was smooth and not crowded. The buffet lunch was good and had good selection. The turtle sanctuary was quite interesting and had many turtles to see. Was please to see some newborn turtles about to be released. It’s a good conservation effort and well worth a visit.

We booked a full package that included a 2.5-hour ride each way from our hotel in Hua Hin, a ferry, two dives, lunch, and a beautiful beach stop. The total cost for our family of five (3 adults and 2 kids) was 10,800 THB. We left the hotel at 7:00 AM and returned at 6:00 PM – a full, well-organized day that was absolutely worth it!

This is a place still under construction, mainly. There are some rooms already to rent. There is a bar restaurant which can cook some easy plates and some beverages, but don't expect to pay the same prices of a normal bar restaurant, of course. There is even a small pool with the water not exactly clear. It's nice to chill out laying on the beach beds, watching the beautiful bay. Just watching because there are sand flies, jellyfishes, low tide mostly on the daytime. Anyway it's pretty probable to experience construction inconveniences caused by trucks and others work machinery, till the construction will be over.

Nice area, definitely got potential. But the beach itself and surrounding grounds didn't present well. A little more attention to cleaning and tidyness would go a long way. A sleepy fishing village is on the Cape here with a few offshore islands and a long wooden pier making it photogenic at a distance. The locals are friendly, but, to be honest, there's nowhere to sit and eat or even any vendors. If they want to make the most of this natural spot the large amount of rubbish in the area needs to be cleaned up, the road fixed and then more tourists will come.

Good to stop for a sheet while and take a rest. The rocky area is very shallow and the water clean. Was told by locals that the pier was built as a stop for big passenger ferries to the close by islands.

Wat Thep Charoen is a temple of the Mahanikaya sect, located in Tambon Tha Kham, Amphoe Tha Sae, Chumphon Province. Wat Thep Charoen is located at the foot of Khao Rap Ro. It is considered a very important temple for the people of Chumphon because it used to be the location of the ancient city of Uthumphon, which was a port city on the border of the Malay Isthmus. It was established as a temple in 1927, received the royal charter of the boundary markers in 1928, and was declared a national historical site on September 27, 1936. Interesting things in this temple: - The Buddha image of Luang Pu Lak Muang enshrined in the cave, the Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, 577 statues. - Tham Ai Tay, where the interior of the cave has been transformed to be used as a place for meditation, and there are paintings of the reclining Buddha on the cave walls, which are believed to be in the Ayutthaya period. But it is not finished yet. - Tham Sai, which was originally the residence of high-ranking officials when the city pillar shrine was built. Inside, it is beautiful with stalactites and stalagmites, Sala Rat Samakkhi, which is where the body of Luang Pu Sai is located. It is amazing that after his death, his body did not rot. - Sandstone footprints of the Buddha carved with 108 auspicious patterns. The edges are carved with images of ethnic minority settlements. A local museum that collects antiques found in the temple area, a beautifully carved shadow puppet by Uncle Wen Chitthara. How to get there: From Phetkasem Road, at kilometer 490, there is a left turn for about 4 kilometers. In addition, the temple also has the Wat Thep Charoen Museum, which uses the old prayer hall as a local museum. There are many exhibits, such as Buddha images, ceramics, brassware, items belonging to the old governor, and a replica sword of Phraya Nakhon. Tham Rap Ro is located in the area of Wat Thep Charoen, under Khao Rap Ro in Ban Tha Kham, Tha Sae District. This cave is worth visiting, starting from its name and story. The legend of Tham Rap Ro has been passed down for a long time that it is a cave with a hidden treasure inside. During the time of King Ashoka the Great of India, he sailed to find a place to enshrine the Buddha image in the cave along with the treasure. It is believed that the clue to the treasure was hidden inside this cave. In terms of tourism, there are more than 8 caves in the temple area. Ai Tay, the mystery of the clue to the treasure of Tham Rap Ro "Ai Tay" is a painting of a reclining Buddha in Tham Ai Tay at the Tham Rap Ro archaeological site, Tambon Tha Kham, Amphoe Tha Sae, Chumphon Province. This painting is about 40 centimeters above the cave floor. The Buddha image is 4.80 meters long and 2 meters wide. The painting of the Buddha image is in the northwest - northeast direction. It is drawn using red and black lines as an outline. The Buddha image is colored in sections. The head and hair are black. The face and arms are white. The body wears a yellow-orange saffron robe. The face is quite square. The high-relief Usanisha with white flames and black lines. The details of the eyes, nose, and mouth are not shown. The tips of the feet are not clear. From the characteristics mentioned above, it can be said that this painting is probably an unfinished painting. From the outline of the painting, it can be assumed that it is likely to be a painting in the Ayutthaya period. It may have inherited the tradition of creating reclining Buddha images in caves following the Dvaravati culture, such as Tham Fa Tho and Tham Cham in Ratchaburi Province, but changed the method from carving the image on the stone and then painting or decorating with stucco to painting only on the image. There is a folktale that believes that around Khao Rap Ro is the location of an ancient city called Muang Uthumphon, which was contemporary with Nakhon Si Thammarat, built by King Sri Dharmasokarat. Muang Uthumphon received Buddhism from Nakhon Si Thammarat. A large Buddha image called Phra Lak Mueang or Phra Pu Lak Mueang was built as the principal Buddha image in the middle of the Phra cave on Khao Rap Ro. There is a story that when the construction of the Phra Lak Mueang Buddha image was completed, there was a lot of wealth and money left over from the people who helped build it, so it was buried in another nearby cave. (Ai Tay Cave in the present) Then painted the reclining Buddha image on the cave wall. The villagers told each other that the paintings on the cave wall were created to guard the treasure called Ai Tay (meaning the third brother). In addition, there is a folk tale that is a riddle that says: "..... Ai Tay, put the baby in a cradle, put the feet in two bottles of oil, massage slowly. Whoever thinks of it, will be under Ai Tay..." And there was a person who believed the clue and came to dig for treasure in the cave, but was chased by a large snake or heard an unknown sound and chased out of the cave. Sights & Landmarks
Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak Shrine is the biggest among several shrines constructed by a Thai prince. It serves as a place of homage to the 'Father of Thai Royal Navy', Prince Chumphon, who passed away at Hat Sai Ri. The shrine is situated near a navy ship which tourists can visit and there is also an exhibit showcasing the biography of the prince. Moreover, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the beach's cool breeze.
Krom Luang Chumphon is a well-known and respected Royal pricee from King Rama 5. The sailers do pray to him prior the sailing. He is the sea/ ocean protector for Thai fishermen. The place is nice, clean and not far from the city center. It is about 30 mins by car.

Explore a fascinating temple complex in Chumphon, right by the beach. This temple pays tribute to the Royal Thai Navy, and you can even step aboard a retired gunboat! Just be aware of one-way streets in the area if you're driving or riding a motorbike.

Being that my wife is ex army - her mother & father ex army and grandfather also so when we tripped through Chumpon this apparently was a place we had to stop. The shrine is dedicated to Admiral Phrachao Boromwongse, His Royal Highness Prince Aphakorn Kiatwong Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak", the son of King Rama V "Chulalongkorn" and "Chao Chom Mode", the mother. His former name was "Prince Aphakorn Kiatwong". The story here is that he is credited with being instrumental in the formation of a formal Navy for the Kingdom ( as best I understand it anyway 😀) New navy recruits, fishermen or pretty much any persons involved in any branch of maritime related duties or profession. It is believed that coming to the shrine for worship provides protection from the "wilds" of the sea. When we were here (sunday), the place was jammed. With all of the above said, the shrine is located on a small hill overlooking the bay surrounded by a small rampart with cannons. Further, there is a navel vessel On display that looked WW2ish, but I could be wrong. In general, it was enjoyable. We gave our respects with incense and a red rose. Looking around at those in attendance, I couldn't help but feel the deep respect and thoughtful prayer I was sure was going on. Loads of parking, beautiful views, and some really nice culture to take in. Highly recommend.

Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak Shrine (พระตำหนักกรมหลวงชุมพรเขตอุดมศักดิ์) is a revered landmark in Thailand, dedicated to Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, the father of the Royal Thai Navy. Located in Chumphon, this shrine holds cultural and historical significance. It is both a tribute to the Prince's contributions to the navy and a place of spiritual importance where locals and visitors come to pay respect and make merit. Visitors to the shrine find beautiful ocean views and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The shrine itself is adorned with statues and naval memorabilia, reflecting the Prince's legacy. It is also a popular spot for those seeking blessings, particularly for safe travels and good fortune.

Wat Suwan Khiri is a unique and attractive temple with Burmese design, located on a hill near the border with Myanmar. The temple features intricate carvings on the roof and houses a beautiful chedi reminiscent of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. Despite being smaller, it boasts replicas of significant elements such as Thep Tanjai and Thep Grasip.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-star dining at Krua Suan Nai Dum I’ve visited Suan Nai Dum many times for coffee and cake, but only recently sat down for a proper meal at the restaurant. Since there’s no separate Google Maps pin 📌 for the restaurant itself, I’m leaving my review here. First, a little context: my in-laws 🎃 are very particular about Gaeng Som. We’re talking next-level purists: what can and can’t go into a proper Gaeng Som is a regular (and somewhat unexciting) family debate. So when I saw that Krua Suan Nai Dum offered Gaeng Som with durian, I knew better than to invite them. They’d write it off as some kind of novelty. Instead, I came alone so I could enjoy it all by myself 😂. 🌟 Recommended Dishes: Gaeng Som with Durian (แกงส้มทุเรียน) Rich, homemade Southern-style curry paste, perfectly balanced. The durian adds a creamy texture and depth without overpowering the dish. Absolutely delicious. Bai Liang Pad Khai (ใบเหลียงผัดไข่) A Southern comfort classic. Simple, high-flavour, and surprisingly healthy. One of those dishes that reminds you how good local food can be. The service was friendly, and prices are very reasonable. Bonus: there’s tons of parking as it's a popular rest stop for travellers.

Punyaban Waterfall is a delightful natural attraction located near Route 4 in Ranong, Thailand. Unlike many other waterfalls in the area, Punyaban Waterfall is easily accessible from the highway, making it a convenient stop for travelers. The clear and cold waters of the waterfall offer a refreshing swimming spot with both shallow and deep areas. While some visitors find the waterfall to be less powerful during dry seasons, others appreciate its beauty and serene surroundings.

Car parking lots at the opposite of the road provided and you can just walk through the bridge under the road to the waterfall There is coffee shop at the ranger site beside the waterfall. A very very close walk from the packing lot, water is so clear and cold and refreshing you can swim here or just sit around on the rock. It have both shallow and deep spot. A nice place to both stop and take a picture and go or spend hours in the water.
