Byzantine Tower of Prosphorion

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Byzantine Tower of Prosphorion, built in the 14th century by the Abbey of Vatopedi, stands at the southwest end of the village as a protective structure for its property. It is considered to be the largest and best-maintained tower in Halkidiki, especially after undergoing recent restoration work.
This tower, among the very few to remain in use from the middle ages to this day, has been in service for about 8 centuries. Its characteristics suggest that it was built by the Byzantine empire sometime in the late 13th or (most likely) in the early 14th century, perhaps to serve as a buffer to invaders seeking to plunder the flourishing monastic communities to its south. Fortunately, it has been kept in use ever since and has thus survived to this day with adjustments and modifications that have not altered its fundamental frame. One can walk or drive right to its door. Entrance is possible, as it serves as a minor museum.

Magical place, cosy taverns, tasty food. In my opinion September is the best time to be there. Day cruiser available to different destinations and water taxi to well organised beach ⛱️.
Antoniya D — Google review
Nice building. Some fascinating facts on the board next to it too but that's about it. Great photo opp. Oranopolis is a pretty little village to buy some gifts and have food/drinks...The taxis drop off and pick up directly outside the Byzantine Tower so if you visit Oranopolis by cab, you really can't miss it!
Scott B — Google review
The Byzantine Tower of Petriona, also known as the Tower of Ouranoupolis, is one of the most iconic monuments in Halkidiki, Greece. It's located in the picturesque village of Ouranoupolis, the last stop before Mount Athos. It was likely built in the 14th century by the Vatopedi Monastery to protect its dependency.
Gioftsios A — Google review
The Byzantine Tower of Prosphorion is one of the most charming landmarks to see by the beach. Its old stone walls and impressive structure instantly transport you back to another era, while the location right by the sea makes it even more special. It’s a great spot for taking photos, enjoying the view, and soaking up the history of the area. After visiting, you can easily enjoy a walk along the coast or stop at a nearby café. A beautiful mix of history and seaside atmosphere – definitely worth a visit when you’re in the region!

nice place to see. small museum, on three levels. beautiful view to sea ana village.
Frau H — Google review
Visit this old tower to learn a piece of history and for the view on the sea. Take a few minutes to read the information about the history, because it is definitely better than the exposition hosted inside the tower. The tower is not very tall and the last floor is off limits but still, the view from the window stills is nice.
Ovidiu V — Google review
It’s the signature tower of Ouranoupolis but although I’ve been many times in the village on my way to Agion Oros, haven’t had a chance to visit inside. The locals tell me there isn’t anything special which is a shame because it could have been a great museum as the spot is very touristy…

Very interesting tour - even if you are not so interested in Orthodox and monasteries. You can buy tickets online too, very convenient. There is a cafe inside, where you can get a table on a small terrace ( if you are faster than the rest:)) and enjoy the trip. If you go out from the cafe on the bow of the ship it is beautiful but you can not hear the explanations. Take some cookies with you if you are with kids and try to feed the birds when near the shore - it is a big fun
Latinka Y — Google review
We bought tickets online for the Blue Lagoon. The boat was comfortable and not too big, there weren't too many people like on other boats, so there was enough space for everyone. The lunch was delicious, served right on the beach. A special thanks to the team, the service was top-notch. Everyone was very friendly, kind, and caring. Highly recommend!

Greece is Bliss! Nirvana and Paradise rolled into one. Mt Athos one day excursion via operator Athos Sea Cruises aboard boat "Captain Fotis" is exceptional for 25-35€ ($30-40). Father/Son Family run business with superb hospitality, customer service, and professional crew. Large Clean, well-maintained ferries with ample room to move around and various seating arrangements. I personally met, chat with at length, and now adore Captain George. Friendly, personable, and loves life to the fullest. Seeing the various monasteries from afar is beautiful and satisfying. They do an excellent program of boarding holy monks and relics to bless those believers of Christianity and Eastern Greek Orthodoxy. You may also purchase a variety of goods such as icons, crosses, incense, olive oils and honey produced by the monks from the Holy Mount Athos. Ouranoupolis is heaven on earth and Drenia/Banana Beach are spiritually uplifting energy healing pools of divine waters. I will return soon and maybe stay forever. Highly recommend!! Eternally grateful and thankful for the blessed experience.

Got tickets online. The ship lands at the top point of the port. Guided tour in english, bulgarian, serbian and russian. There are 3 decks. There is a bar at the lowest deck. Very comfortable and enjoyable experience
Hristo H — Google review
Great cruise, very informative. One star less for the endless amount of talking as everything will be repeated in several languages.
Tobias — Google review
Met all our expectations. Reasonable price for a boat shared with 200 people. Easy to wander across decks for best shots of the Athos scenery, information on monasteries provided in various languages via loudspeakers could be well understood. Monks visit boat for blessings and selling religious items. Relaxed 3 hours despite boat was full, of course nothing intimate or with privacy. Little shop on board.
Stefan S — Google review
We had a great experience. In the morning we watched the monasteries from the boat, at about 13h we were at a very nice sandy beach. The lunch was good, then some free time and at about 16:30 we boarded on the boat to go back. It is really worth doing this little trip.
H P — Google review
It was a very nice trip. I liked the cruise itself, enjoying the swimming at the banana beach, the lunch was tasty and served quickly. I also liked the live music on board and the staff was very friendly and willing to help. The boat was spacious enough and clean. All perfect.

Alykes Beach on Ammouliani Island is a stunning destination with its shallow, crystal-clear blue waters and soft sandy shore. The gradual entry into the sea makes it perfect for a relaxing swim. The beach offers various amenities such as beach bars, canteens, and tavernas, providing visitors with options for food and drinks. It's also an ideal spot for snorkeling, offering glimpses of diverse marine life including different fish species and even octopuses.
Big free zone with a beautiful crystal clear water, new white sand brought and dispersed, very rarely any waves at all. Awesome place to visit, even coming on from town.
Marin K — Google review
Such a gorgeous beach, the water was crystal clear and very clean. It was crowded, but the beach is huge and there was enough space for everyone without feeling like you have no space.
Anna — Google review
Alykes Beach in Ammouliani island is truly amazing; the water is transparent and beautifully reflects the blue sky, and the sand is light and fine. I visited on July 20th (a Sunday) after a boat trip, and it was definitely enjoyable, even though we spent most of our time in the water. The beach has facilities equipped with umbrellas and loungers, as well as bars for food and drinks.
Alessandro G — Google review
Perfect water, sandy beach, plenty of parking . A few places to get coffee and snacks with options to use sun beds and sun umbrella.
Ivana Н — Google review
Great beach! Water is clean, there are no trash on the beach, sand is perfect. Music from the nearby beach bars is not too loud.

Karydi Beach

Mentioned on
7 lists
Beach
Outdoor Activities
Karydi Beach, located in Vourvourou, Halkidiki, is a picturesque destination nestled within a pine forest. The beach offers a mix of modern and traditional Mediterranean flavors at the Melia restaurant. Visitors recommend arriving early to avoid crowds and enjoy the clean sandy shores and crisp waters. Families appreciate the shallow areas for kids and ample natural shade provided by trees. Additionally, the beach features unique rock formations, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling in its crystal-clear waters.
You often see advertisements for exotic destinations where just looking at the pictures makes you want to go there, relax, and start dreaming... Quite by accident, I stumbled upon one of these places, and it's not that far away by car from Bulgaria. It's called Sithonia, a peninsula in Chalkidiki, Greece. This place is magical! The village, which looks more like a villa area for the wealthy in Saint-Tropez, is called Vourvourou and is located on the eastern coast of the peninsula. The locals are relaxed and friendly, and wherever you turn, you are treated to beautiful views, and the bars and restaurants are more than good! The place is quiet and peaceful, yet lively enough to keep you entertained. But the jewel in the crown of this place is one of the many beaches in the area - Karydi Beach. An almost wild combination of forest, beach, and lagoon, with crystal clear blue waters where small and large fish swim, surrounded by rocks that look like they were sculpted by an artist, beaches of fine white sand, exotic trees, and lots of peace and positive energy. At the right end of the rainbow, there are miniature beaches covered with fine sand and access to the lagoon. There, you cannot determine what century you have entered, nor in which part of the Mediterranean, because it resembles Sardinia, Malta, Spain, and other exotic destinations. The place is so beautiful that it cannot be recreated with photos and videos—you have to experience it!
Rosen A — Google review
It is always full but is a very nice beach with natural shade, a great restaurant and bar nearby. The water is warm and shallow and luckily there are no sunchairs
Adina O — Google review
Very beautiful beach with white rock formations, rocks in the water, great for snorkeling! We saw many types of fish and an octopus. Free parking right next to the beach and then you go down to the rocks, easy access.
Ekaterina A — Google review
A beautiful beach for families with kids especially. On the one side it’s covered with rocks so you gotta be careful, but the water is clear. On the other side it’s covered in sand and it’s perfect for children, however sometimes the water can get a little dirty.
Lera — Google review
Perfect sand and clear water. Gradual depth increase, perfect for little kids. A lot of parking in pines shade. No umbrellas , bring your own or get early to get the position in natural shade. One of the must visit beaches in Sithonia. Plus, the view on Athos 🙂
Nenad H — Google review
We explored all the beaches in Sithonia, and this one stood out as our absolute favourite! By far the most impressive—crystal-clear turquoise water, soft sand, and a calm, relaxing atmosphere that felt like paradise. Unlike some of the busier spots, this beach was peaceful and perfectly clean, giving us the chance to really enjoy the natural beauty of Sithonia. The views were breathtaking, the water ideal for swimming, and the whole place radiated serenity. If you’re looking for the best beach in Sithonia, look no further—this is the one that truly captured our hearts!
Denis I — Google review
An extremely beautiful and unusual beach. There are many rocks and coves. There is a cafe next to the beach where you can buy a refreshing drink.
Aleksandar P — Google review
Great beach! Warm, shallow water, fine white sand, enough shade… Shaltered from the waves by rocks. Beautifull view of Mount Athos. The only ‘problem’ is too much waste from the trees near the shore, but it’s easy to get around.

Lagomandra Beach is a popular destination for tourists, known for its striking beauty. The beach boasts clear blue waters and is set against a backdrop of a pine forest. It's an ideal spot for snorkeling near the rocks, with crystal-clear turquoise waters and sharp rock formations creating a picturesque setting. The beach offers both paid zones with amenities such as umbrellas and loungers, as well as free areas under the shade of pine trees.
Clean water, very good place for snorkeling and stand up paddle boarding. Recomended!
Martin M — Google review
Still good beach. Pleanty of places in natural shadow, clean water. The only issue is that waves can get stronger and depth is steep so not that comfy for small kids.
Predrag M — Google review
Very beautiful beach, coarse sand and it very clean and you can sea some fish wondering around your legs while you taking a swim. Nice umbrellas
Deryl V — Google review
Pebbly sand, deep water after 4-5m. Nice forest pine in the south part, you can rest there during hottest hours.
Andrei M — Google review
The water was pure perfection. Crystal clear. The water was so calm, it Felt like swimming in a pool. Easy access to the water. There is a large umbrella hotel area (overpriced and overcrowded I think) in the middle, but the left and the right sides were quite chill. Parking along the road was free and easy in the middle of September, also some shade. There is a mini market.
Dominika N — Google review
Lots of place with natural shade. Come early for parking spot in the shadow and nice spot in the forest, anyway tourists will sit next to you like you came together to vacation, just you didn’t know until that moment. Left from the main lagomandra beach where there is possibly charge of enterance, sunbeds etc.
Nemanja A — Google review
Very nice beach. We paid €15 for two sunbeds and an umbrella, which also included parking right in front of the beach. There is free parking nearby, but we arrived too late to find a spot. I’m giving 3 stars because there are nicer beaches in Sithonia. Cocktails are decent, priced between €10–13. Tip: avoid the Thalassa Blue restaurant near the beach. The staff are rude, they bring the wrong food, and they try to overcharge. Better to bring your own food or eat elsewhere.

Thermal Spa Agia Paraskevi

Medical spa
Spas & Wellness
Thermal Spas
We had a great time here! We took the public pool and sunlounger option for €17 each and had a lovely dip in both pools, then a relax on the loungers right on the cliff edge. The facility is pristine and architecturally very striking, like a sanatorium. Very enjoyable few hours.
Simon R — Google review
First of all, the good news: If you’re trying to collect athlete’s foot like a Pokémon trainer, this is the place to be. Now, moving on. If you’re too young—like me—to have experienced a Soviet-era spa, this might just be the next best thing. Many facilities were out of order: the hot tubs, the hammam, some toilets. One handrail wasn’t fixed at the bottom, which added an extra dimension of excitement to the sulfur-ridden environment. If you really want to go: don’t bother paying for the extras like the sauna or hammam. No one checks. Just pay for the swimming pools and enjoy them guilt-free. It’s not stealing, because this spa has already taken something far more valuable from you — your joy. And finally, when you reach the showers, you’ll start to regret every life choice that led you here. But in that same moment, you’ll find comfort in knowing you’re on your way out — and that no one can ever force you to return.
Philippe K — Google review
Everything they're offering here is brilliant and good value. Pool was big enough for plenty of people. Indoor and outdoor pools. Saunas and steam rooms. I did feel that the place really needed that "final touch" is seemed really incomplete and doors left open looking at building work really let it down. As well as the poor finishing to some of the building work. Don't let this out you off though! It's well worth going and enjoying. We got there early and it was nearly empty. If you want it to be quiet go there on a hot day. Sounds a strange thing to do but it was great.
Peter D — Google review
Me and my family went to the thermal spa and to the saunas. We really liked it! The smell was like when you light a match, nothing to worry about. It does hurt a little if you get the water in the eyes, but it goes away. If you have a silver necklace, do not put it back on immediately after visiting the bath, it can become black, mine did. Overall an interesting experience, great for a rainy day! Inside the water was warm and relaxing. They provide you with a padlock for the locker where you can leave you belongings. In the sauna there was water to throw on the stones. As we are from Finland we liked this.
Håkan L — Google review
Not reccomended. Huge dissappoitment !! This place wasn't renovated in the last 20 years or even more. Everything very dirty and horrible condition. Im travelling sleeping on campings but I never seen something like this. Steam bath not working. Swimming pool dirty with cold water. I spend here 30minutes in sauna, didnt even took a shower and left. After I asked for return Ive been told - no return. Driving specially 1.30h. Don't go there! Don't waste your time! Biggest dissappoitment of greece so far. Bleh.
Piotr G — Google review
Technically, this “spa” deserves five stars — not for quality, but for authenticity. It’s not a tourist trap, it’s pure, honest decay. A rare glimpse into what happens when absolutely no one has cared about hygiene or maintenance for a decade or so. Twelve years ago, I visited a local hammam in a small Moroccan village — I thought that was basic. But at least they made you feel like a valued customer back then and natural rasoul soap was included in the price. At Loutra Spa, handwritten signs and DIY posters are everywhere. A full-on Word- and ClipArt exhibition from 1995. It’s like someone decided “professional and clean” was just an optional aesthetic. Confusing pricing, broken facilities, random “out of order” notes and lack of hygiene for only 18 euro per person. Sure, the sulfur smell is expected. But the lack of hygiene? The complete absence of any system separating muddy shoes from clean slippers? No dry room, only wet floors, when people still have their outdoor shoes on? That’s just nasty. The showers and toilets are run down. The steam room looks like it was built by a guy who once watched a single YouTube tutorial called “How to make a spa at home.” The women’s changing room is a test of courage. Finding a spot that didn’t feel contaminated was an adventure. The shower curtain gave off strong prison vibes and then it literally fell down. At that point, you stop calling it relaxation and start calling it survival as you do not want to drop your piece of soap on the floor. This is not a spa. Not a wellness center. At best, it’s a sulfur bath for people with medical conditions — except with the lack of care and hygiene, it’s actually a health hazard. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if you left with more infections than you came in with. Such a shame, because this could turn into an authentic gem, but instead it’s just a fossilized memory of what a spa used to be.
Kelly M — Google review
I give 3 stars only for thermal water and nice staff. The place itself saw its golden ages long long time ago. It could be turned to a pearl of Aegean, really. Very dissapointing that it is bot well treated. It could also be old, but at least keep it clean! I have never ever seen such unhygienic and filthy place. Pity!
Edita C — Google review
Nice place with thermal pools, yes it smells its thermal 😂 some people dont seem to understand that the smell is due to natural minerals especially sulfur (egg smell) but the health benefits is worth it. The place is older inside but the outside is 10/10. You can also bathe outside in thermal water and then avoid the smell.

Kalogria Beach

Kalogria Beach is a beautiful stretch of fine sand located between the villages Nikiti and Neos Marmaras. It offers clear, shallow waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Visitors can rent chairs and umbrellas to relax on the beach or enjoy refreshments at nearby beach bars and restaurants.
The best beach for families with kids around Nikiti imo. The sand is soft, the water is nice. Bad grade for the tourists around that think that the sand is their garbage bin and for the smokers that put their cigarettes in the sand
Simon C — Google review
This is one of my two favorite beaches here. It’s not crowded, with only three rows of sunbeds and plenty of trees for natural shade. Sunbeds with an umbrella cost €20. There’s also a bar offering cocktails and some food. Free parking available. I totally recommend it!
Katarina M — Google review
Very beautiful beach, especially at the South end, there is a big rock and many fish near it, after the rock there are stone stairs and you can go to another tiny beach made only of rock. Great for snorkling! Free parking on the road right next to the beach.
Ekaterina A — Google review
Beautiful beach. Everything is so clean and the staff is very polite A big salute to Pavlos. Private parking aswell. The water is cristal clear and there are so many choices of sunbads (first row or the last if you like to stay in the shadow) We were amazed and rested well there. All recommandations.
Andjela I — Google review
This beach is absolutely amazing. The water is so crystal clear and warm. The sand is so soft to walk on even in the water. It’s so easy to swim and lots of water sports and things to hire such as paddle boards and pedal boats. You can choose to sit on the lounge chairs provided. They are dearer than other beaches but they are very comfortable and great service from the waiters. There’s opportunities to snorkel and even scuba dive. A must visit even for a day.
Angela H — Google review
Nice beach place, good food and drinks, friendly staff, you can rent canoe and boats. But it's a bit annoying that even with consumption you still have to pay for umbrella and chaise lounges.
Rayna H — Google review
In my opinion, this is one of the better and more beautiful beaches in Sithonia. The sunbeds are expensive — up to €50 — and during weekdays, the sunbeds are relatively empty. We brought our own umbrellas and set them up in the free area of the beach. The sea and its color are absolutely stunning. It gets crowded on weekends, but it's still worth a visit. My recommendation is to come as early as possible, as there’s no proper parking and you’ll have to leave your car on the dirt road. Please park considerately and leave enough space for those who are trying to leave. DESPERATELY NEEDED: trash bins and toilets on the beach itself.
Dalibor A — Google review
Great beach, but parking is a huge problem. Avoid the main parking and instead go for Isla Beach on Google maps. You will end up on the nort side of Kalogria Beach, but there’s parking spaces even at noon there. It’s also much easier to get back to the main road from there.

Agios Ioannis Beach

Agios Ioannis Beach, located in the northwestern side of Sithonia and closest to Thessaloniki, is a popular sandy stretch with gentle waves. While the former Riviera Luxury Beach Bar has been removed due to hotel construction, the beach remains unspoiled and free for everyone. Visitors can enjoy hip beach bars like Manassu Beach Bar, MOA Beachbar, Orca Bar, and more. The water is clear with a bottom covered in tiny pebbles.
A very beautiful beach with blue waters, very clean and quiet even with a lot of people around you. Warm request: take the trash with you when you leave...respect the beautiful gifts of nature!!! PS: Take the exit on the right of "Akti Kastri" one step before the hotel's entrance...take with you umbrellas, food, coffee, and water.

Loved this beach. Easy access, large free parking lot. It is very large, approx 750 m long and quite wide. Crystal clear water in the most beautiful shades of blue and turquoise. Swimming, snorkeling and walking along the water there was just perfect.

Water is perfect but the beach is wild. There are some trees around nothing special, just a simple beach. This year because of higher prices of umbrellas and sun-beds many people prefer to use free of charge beaches, as this one. It is a pity that people do not preserve the area. We saw many cigarettes and other trash around. There is no toilette on the beach and nothing to buy around. Need to go prepared with everything you need for a stay- water, food, umbrella. Some tourists go on big loud companies and the area gets overcrowded fast, especially in high season.

one of the best beaches i have been. positive: not very crowded (status 29 September) super clear water. small sand without rocks negative: No WC no parking space is quite small, it got full even in end of september, i think in July august would be super packed you need to go down on a bit step road to get to the beach see photos for more details
Igor — Google review
Free parking and public beach is on the right side (if you are facing the see). Sea is turquoise with sand bottom and beach is mostly sand (tiny pebbles only). There are no facilities on the public side.
Halil A — Google review
Nice and clean beach under place Nikiti. There is big parking lot so you can always find place to park your car. Clean water and pure sea. If you go ahead right you will find rock and one small island so it is also good for diving! Recommendation!
Aleksandar D — Google review
Awesome beach, free of bars and commercial bloatware. Long sand line, free and easily accessible parking. Clear water and a lot of locals.
Nikolay V — Google review
The sea is amazing, with beautiful colors, and the beach isn’t too crowded in September. The problem is unpolite people that leave trash, plastic bottles, cigarette butts, and other waste on the beach with no respect for the environment.

Nikiti Beach is a bustling and upscale seaside destination with a marina and a popular promenade. It's an ideal spot for families or large groups looking for a vibrant beach experience. The long sandy coastline, lined with pine trees providing natural shade, is dotted with beach bars offering complimentary sunbeds and umbrellas in exchange for food and drinks. The crystal-clear shallow waters are perfect for family-friendly swimming, while activities like paddle boarding, kayaking, and beach volleyball add to the fun.
Quiet and nice...in second half of September. Very calm sea. Sandy beach with good and long not deep entrance in the water.
A D — Google review
The beach is approximately 1.7 kilometers long and features several bars and resorts, which are generally considered high-priced. There is only one shower available on the beach, and it is not publicly accessible, as it is part of a private beach and bar resort. The entrance to the sea features rocky terrain and is frequently covered with algae.
Dávid Š — Google review
It’s a nice and quiet place! The beach is clean and the restaurants are good. I recommend it especially for families with kids.
Jessamine M — Google review
Good beach, generally sand, there may be stones when entering the sea, there is a place for your own sunbeds, restaurants nearby (just be careful not every restaurant has good food)
Filip M — Google review
Tight beach, sandy & rocks, half organized with sunbeds / half free, but very crowded on the sunbads area. Many tavernas and beach bars.
Bogdan C — Google review
A very good beach I think. 1,7 km long, you can also take a nice walk there. Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants along the beach. Clear water, nice sand. You can rent sun beds or stay on the free areas.
Dominika N — Google review
Nice and long beach with a lot of places to have food and drinks. You can walk around easily. It is also a nice place to see the sunset from. It may be a bit difficult to park the car around there but it is easy to walk around the streets.
Alejandro E — Google review
Not so impressive like other near beaches, but it's not bad. 5 Euro per person including kids for the beach sunbeds and you can comsume drinks for this amount. Not enough space for free zone.

You do need to visit this place! You can visit for free and there is a toilet at the car park uphill (Maybe car par 1) . Also, they have a car park downhill (2) near the beach but no toilet! Amazing historical and panorama view!

Very interesting site, quite a large area and very pretty scenery
A K — Google review
Very impressed! This place is open every day but on Tuesdays and free of charge! They have excellent facilities (toilet, water fountains), guides who are in different points ready to answer your historical questions, an amazing free app with an audio guide whose narrator is a merchant who arrives to the town some days after Aristotle died... The views are stunning, the ruins have enough information and there are benches to rest, trees providing shade. Some areas aren't great for people with reduced mobility though but with strong helpers you can visit almost of all it even on wheels.
Victoria G — Google review
Steeped in history, this significant archaeological site, with strong indications for the tomb of Aristotle, offers an incredibly enriching experience. It's free to enter and you can explore Ancient Stageira city through well-maintained walking paths over the hill, guided by helpful signs with explanations. Recently, they've even added information to a special mobile app that enhances your discovery as you walk, though you'll also find friendly staff on hand. For summer visits, avoid peak temperatures and be sure to wear comfortable shoes and sun protection (hat, sunscreen), and take water with you. The view from the site is amazing, and while there are wonderful beaches nearby, be aware they can get quite crowded.

Aristotle's Park

Aristotle's Park is a serene and verdant tribute to the life and work of the great philosopher. The park features sculptures and giant scientific devices like a compass, telescope, and prism for visitors to engage with. It offers engaging activities that demonstrate some of Aristotle's experiments, making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. While the park is relatively small and can be explored in about an hour, it provides an insightful experience into Aristotle's legacy.
A visit to the birth place of one of the leading minds that lived Aristotle A real life showcase and interaction with experiments from discoveries made by Aristotle on science that had a major impact to our daily life today. From optical illusion that led to the development of TV and cinema, compass, formation of tornado I need not exhaust all not to kill the surprise element A great place for those willing to visit the birth place of the great philosopher and Scientist and student of Socrates and mentor to Alexander the Great to experience first hand his discoveries
Dr.Fredrick O — Google review
A nice little park but not too much to it. Some of the little exhibits don’t work and need repairs. Some nice views too. But for €2/person it was worth the 20 min stop. For kids it’s probably a nice spot to have a run around.
Jason K — Google review
Certainly a nice activity for kids, and a lovely view. However, today, the two attendants bludgeoned a hand-sized, unassuming, certainly not dangerous snake to death - despite my intervention. Aristoteles certainly wasn‘t a promotor of animal cruelty.
Linda G — Google review
Definitely worth a short visit, the entry fee is not too high, I think it was 2 Euro (2025-10) if I remember correctly. We had a lot of fun with all the "gadgets" and explored and tested them one by one, needed approx. 45 min. There is some ancient tower at the side of the area, contributing to the nice place. We came here in the course of a road trip to eastern Chalkidiki visiting ancient Stageira, Varvara waterfalls and the Hilandar - Kakovo monastery and this park could be combined very well. The only unfortunate thing is, that the nearby café is closed for renovation and will not open until 2028 (planned), if ever. Therefore I hope the park will continuously get the attention it deserves and the place will not become desolated, as so many others apart from Chalkidikis "fingers".
DrEnzMon — Google review
This is a theme park where anyone who is curious and likes to test how great inventions work, can spend few hours exploring. It is easy to reach and besides what visitors can do in the park, the view is breathtaking. The personel is very nice and welcoming, offering information about the park and the geographical area.

I gave 5 stars for the Stagiriti, not for the efforts invested in the park…

Aristotle’s Park is a wonderful place to visit with children and pets. The park is clean, peaceful, and full of interesting attractions related to Aristotle’s philosophy and science. There’s plenty of space to walk, play, and enjoy nature. It’s both fun and educational — a perfect spot for a family outing or a relaxing day outdoors. Highly recommended!
Tina G — Google review
A wonderful educational and scenic spot worth visiting! Aristotle's Park in Halkidiki is a beautiful and engaging place, perfect for families. The natural surroundings are lovely, and the interactive exhibits inspired by Aristotle’s scientific principles make it a unique experience. Since much of the park is in open space, it's best to visit when the sun isn't too harsh—early morning or late afternoon are ideal. To get the most out of the visit, it's a great idea to explain the basic concepts behind the optical, physical, and acoustic experiments to children beforehand. This way, they'll understand what they're seeing and will be excited to try out the hands-on experiments themselves. Highly recommended for curious minds and nature lovers alike!

Crystal clear water at the end of May. This is the best beach on the first finger of Halkidiki. Beautiful and large. I prefer the side on the left because there aren't any stones etc. Its just sand and crystal clear water 😍

A nice place for tourists, a bit crowded especially during the season (July and August), there are a few beach bars that offer food and drinks for a reasonable price, but a pair of sunbeds can even reach the price of 40 euros, depending where you want to spend the day.

A great place for rest and relaxation, beautiful beaches for sunbathing on sun loungers that are combined with a bar and restaurant for ordering drinks and food. Cocktails or other drinks with food are delivered to the beach where you lie, sunbathe and drink cocktails and beer. The water in the sea is clean, warm, turquoise blue and transparent for swimming. The prices are a little expensive, but it is worth every penny for the service that immediately serves you with drinks and food on the beach. Greetings from neighboring Macedonia 🇲🇰

We had an absolutely incredible day sailing with Sven! From the moment we stepped on board, he made us feel welcome with his warm personality and great sense of humor. Sven took care of everything and ensured everyone in the group had a fantastic time. The spots he took us to were breathtaking — perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and stand-up paddling. He even provided drinks and delicious food throughout the trip, keeping us well-fed and refreshed. It was the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. If you're looking for an unforgettable sailing experience, Sven is your guy! Highly recommended!

Sven took us down the coast with stops along the way to swim and snorkel from his comfortable yacht. Lots of soft drinks and sandwiches were included, and we stopped off at a beach bar where we could buy more drinks. Sven is friendly and so too were his other passengers (his boat was not over crowded and there was space to either sit in the sun or shade). Our day was enjoyable and memorable. The trip was easy to check out on the website and book through WhatsApp messaging. The trip is great value for money.

We couldn’t recommend Daysailing with Sven enough. The day was excellent from start to finish. The tour was easy to book direct on the website and Sven communicated with us via WhatsApp, which was super convenient. The weather was amazing, the sea calm and we met some lovely people. All while having a laugh and visiting some of the most beautiful swimming bays & beaches around Halkidiki. We were given our own cooler box with plenty of drinks and a lovely lunch. A SUP board & snorkel equipment was also supplied. This is a perfect trip for couples, friends, or families - highly recommend! ⭐️

We booked a sunset sailing trip with Sven in September 2025, for a special anniversary. The experience was absolutely perfect. Sven is a very hospitable and a very skilled sailor. The views of the Kassandra “leg” were great, we saw a pod of dolphins jumping all around the sailing boat “Sirena” and had time for swimming once the anchor was dropped. Then some drinks and delicious fruit, taking in a glorious sunset, before sailing back to shore. Would recommend very highly, unforgettable.

What a fantastic day! From the moment we boarded we felt very welcomed. Plenty of opportunities to swim, snorkel and attempt paddle boarding throughout the day. Not a moment felt rushed. Sven was a brilliant host, and we came away with many happy memories, including a mobile phone retrieved from the ocean floor by Olympic diver, aka, Sven 😉🤣....11/10 experience!

I joined the “Daysailing in Group” tour and had a great time. Sven really knows what he’s doing. He communicates very well and has such a positive attitude. The boat was clean, we didn’t have any issues, and everything was super enjoyable. The spots where we stopped to swim were absolutely beautiful. At one point, we went ashore with a Zodiac and visited a beach bar. 🍸 All in all, the organization was excellent. Thank to Sven and his son! 😊👍⛵️☀️🏊‍♂️🏝️

We had an amazing sailing experience with Daysailing. The captain’s many years of experience were evident in every part of the trip, and his friendly, confident manner made the whole journey even more enjoyable. We were lucky to catch a great wind, which gave us the chance to experience proper sailing at its best. The trip ended with delicious sandwiches prepared by the captain himself, adding a personal and thoughtful touch to the day. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy both the thrill and the peace of being out on the water!

This place is excellent;you have few sunbeds for visitors only(60eur/whole day),they have snacks, drinks as usual...but the service is impecable...you really feel special and welcomed...with sunbeds you also get their towels..and remarkable was that they did not charge us sunbeds as we came late in the afternoon which was such a respect to towards us . This is a beautiful marina but it was very busy with very affluent people. Most of the shops are high end name brands and very expensive. Nice place to visit and has an ATM if you need Euros.
Marc C — Google review
I recently had the opportunity to stay at Sani Marina, and while the resort had its charms, I must say that it did not live up to the hype or the exorbitant price tag. Despite its stunning location and luxurious reputation, there were several aspects of my stay that left me feeling underwhelmed. Dining options at the resort were plentiful, but the quality of the food was inconsistent. While some meals were delicious and well-prepared, others fell short of expectations. The prices at the restaurants were exorbitant, making it difficult to justify the expense for the quality received. I found myself seeking alternative dining options outside the marina to find better value for my money. In conclusion, while Sani Marina has its positive attributes, the overall experience fell short of the hype and the steep price tag. The service, dining, did not consistently meet the standards one would expect from a luxury resort.

Archaeological Site of Olynthos

Ancient Ruins
The Archaeological Site of Olynthos is a well-preserved ancient city in northern Greece, dating back to the 5th century BC. It is located on a southern hill about 1 km from the entrance, so visitors should be prepared for some walking. The site features streets and outlines of houses, with detailed display signs in English and Greek providing historical information.
A must visit site for everyone! Olynthos is one of the biggest cities of ancient Greece with its history starting even from the neolithic period. And it was truly magnificent checking the ruins and the interactive exhibition was so well made! If you visit during summer time it's better to go earlier as after 10:00 the sun is scorching but thankfully there are plenty of rest areas with benches under a shade. We were also lucky as it was a bit windy, making the heat more tolerable. There is a carpark at the bottom of the hill with plenty of trees for shade. You go through the entrance and pay your ticket (cards acceptable!) and then you can download a mini pdf using the QR code by the cashier. There are also 2 more apps you can download that will help you touring the place but also come with plenty of info for other archaeological sites around Chalkidiki! Walk about 100m up and there is a small building on your left with some ancients around and plenty of trees. Toilets are located here along with a chilled drinking fountain. This is where the interactive exhibition takes place and the whole room is air conditioned. There are 2 touchscreens with interactive maps about the various locations and parts of the site and interactive 3D models of buildings, mosaics and artifacts they found. 2 more touchscreens with a list of various artifacts 3D modelled also interactive. Bit further in the room there are benches to sit down and enjoy a 20 minute animated presentation about the history, the various chronological periods, the artifacts they found, and other information about the site. There are multiple screens and projectors used and make the whole show really interesting. The various animations presented were really well made and there were both Greek and English subtitles. Most of the audio is in Greek except one video that was specifically in English. Then it is a walk up the hill for about 700m, with 3 shaded rest stops along the way and plenty of trees and greenery. Might be a it difficult for the elderly to go up as the road is just soil and rocks (but they plan to make a cemented pathway in the near future). At the top there is maginificent view not only from the ruins but also you can see all the way to the village and neighbouring hills. You can walk around the ancients freely with no barriers blocking you and there are some signs with more info and pictures about some specific buildings. QR codes are also located on those signs to scan and use with the apps providing extra info and audio tours. Look for the mosaics around the site, they are trully beautiful and so detailed! Really hope they get to advertise the place more, it was our first time visiting and enjoyed every minute of it. It's really a shame no new excavations have been made in the past 80+ years, as only 10% of the city is exhibited. There are plenty of new technologies that could be used and so many more things could be found. All the artifacts and the mosaics were magnificent! They have plans to open a coffee shop and make it more accessibility friendly for everyone, but you know how slow things are with the Greek government and funds...
Stella Z — Google review
If you are in doubt whether the site is reopened as per the schedule on the official Web page, it is still closed, and the original finish-date of the closure is now hidden on a sign at the entrance. Poor communication and it is a shame that Google Maps knows more than the official website. Better check...
Stefan S — Google review
I wasn’t very impressed with the photos in the review but I quickly changed my mind once we got here! This place is incredibly interesting, very well organized and I highly recommend to visit especially if you are passing by. Our 6 years old daughter absolutely loved it, too. Tip for parents: there is a possibility to see turtles up the hill and once we told here that, our child was running up the hill so fast that we could barely keep up.
Olga M — Google review
Very interesting archeological site, it's much bigger than I tought. Only standing among the ruins of the once there city is when you realize the size of it all. And not even the whole thing is excavated! I hope one day they get around to doing that. It is absolutely worth a visit if you're in this part of Greece, it's the best archeological site nearby. There's so much to see, and they're very well equipped. There's a digital museum, with short animations explaining the history of ancient Olynthos, and you can see 3d models of the houses and findings. It's totally worth checking out, before entering the ruins themselves. The gentleman at the front who sells the tickets was extremely kind, he explained everything and was very helpful throughout. Entry under 25 is free, and over 25 it's 4 euros.

A beautiful gem of Greek history, perfectly intact and still standing historical site of Olynthus. The site is located approximately 800m from the parking area and entry only being €2. A lovely stroll as you gradually work you’re way up to the city, passing local tortoises and giant grasshoppers. Perfect to visit if you’re in the area and are looking for something cultural to do. Allow for a 1-2 visit depending on how quick you walk and read the signage posts scattered around the site.

One of the most impressively preserved ancient cities in northern Greece. The main city dates back to the 5th century BC, during the classical era of Ancient Greece. The main site is located on the southern hill which is located 1 km from the entrance. So if you visit it, be sure to have a good pair of shoes on and a lot of water with you. On your way out, you should also stop at the small exhibition room. It’s definitely worth exploring and keep in mind that you need at least two hours.

A very beautiful place surrounded by flowers, trees and nature. To get to the site you need to walk approximately 1 km up to a hill, but it is not too steep or intense - however not accessible if you are not able to walk easily. The site is beautiful with incredible mosaics. You could also see the old street and house structure. Recommended if you are in the area

You can walk the streets and is the outline of houses and read the history. The water containers plus the old pipes for sewage The walls are not high about 2 feet. One area they are about 3 feet. Apollonia Spa and thermal springs offer a relaxing experience for a few hours. The water, while not very warm, provides therapeutic benefits. However, the strong sulfuric smell may be off-putting to some visitors. Despite being advertised as luxurious, it is considered reasonably priced compared to other spas in Hungary or Romania. Visitors recommend taking towels from the spa to avoid carrying the smell with them. Overall, it's a beautiful location with clean facilities and friendly staff.

Good place to spend 2-3 hours in a therapeutic way. The water is not very warm, it is quite cold, compared to the temperatures of other thermal baths (Nea Appolonia for example). Just be aware that the smell is very strong due to water properties. Better take towels from them (1euro per towel) than getting that smell into yours... Although it is advertised as luxurious, I can say it is resonable only. Luxury spa is an appropriate term for the spas from Hungary or Romania.

Petralona Cave

Petralona Cave, situated 50 km from Thessaloniki, is a fascinating prehistoric site discovered in 1959. It gained fame in 1960 when the oldest European man's fossilized skull was found there, along with evidence of ancient fire use. The cave features remarkable stalactites and stalagmites that captivate both adults and children. With a length of about 2 km, it offers an exciting excursion suitable for young visitors as well.
Considering that one of the main attractions in the Nea Kallikrateia area is the Petralona cave, we decided to go and visit it. It is located 15 km away from Nea Kallikrateia, about 15-20 minutes by car. Direct access by car is restricted for the last 800-900 meters by a barrier, being directed to a parking lot from where you can take a mini train for 3 euros per person round trip. In the parking lot there are a few souvenir shops, magnets, etc. you know the type. The mini train leaves every 10-15 minutes and covers the distance mentioned above, to the cave area. There is also a terrace here where you can wait for the entrance to the cave. It cost us 10 euros per person for adults, so 20 euros and free for children under 18. The entrance to the cave is only with a guide, on a pre-established route that goes up and down about 350 meters through the cave. The guide provides a series of information in English and much more in Greek and ensures that the group respects the predefined route. The cave, discovered in 1959, is spectacular and offers you an example of what the elements of nature can do over thousands of years. The merit of the Greeks is that they highlighted it by arranging a portion of the cave. You can find more details about the cave online. However, the fact that it seems like a well-planned Greek "business" does not detract from the beauty of the cave and its surroundings

Beautiful and family-friendly cave experience! Petralona Cave was absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. The temperature inside is a comfortable +17°C all year round, so there’s no need to dress warmly. The entrance fee was €10 for adults, and seniors (65+) paid €5 — we visited in the off-season. Children under 18 enter for free, which was great for us since we had a baby and a 3-year-old with us. The cave itself is relatively small and compact — perfect for kids. The loop path takes around 20 minutes to complete, with many stunning formations to admire. Some parts of the path are a bit narrow, but still manageable. In front of the cave, there’s a kiosk and a picnic/waiting area with an incredible view of the surrounding area and the sea — perfect for watching the sunset! We enjoyed some ice cream and coffee from the kiosk while waiting for our tour to start. You can either take a short walk (about 800m) up to the cave or use the little transfer train from the parking area. The round trip on the train costs €3 per person, and children under 3 go free. We didn’t visit the museum (it requires a separate ticket), but overall, the service was friendly, and the experience was great — highly recommend it, especially for families!

A great change in scenery. It is a great place to take a break on a hot day - other than on a beach or inside. Things go fast even on a busy day and rather affordable (€10 for the cave, €5 for the museum and €3 for the train). Tour is 20 - 30 minutes without guide (for our group). I would recommend the museum first and cave after. Outside view is nice, too. The terrace near the entrance is a nice place to enjoy a drink.

The weather was bad so we decided to visit the caves after looking on google. The car park is a basic dirt road and we did struggle to get parked. Some cute little souvenir shops reasonably priced…again basic but fine. We got the train to the caves which took a couple of minutes and cost a few euros each. Once you are at the top to the entrance of the cave it is quite exposed with a couple of shelters, a coffee shack and reasonably clean toilets. Once we had paid there was a little wait before the last group came out of the cave, around 10 minutes or so. Once we were in the cave we were memorised!! What an amazing place! Really cleverly lit with secure steps throughout. We loved every second of it with such amazing photo opportunities. It was like being in another world. We were encouraged to stay with the group but we wanted to stay longer hehe! We walked back to the car chatting about our amazing experience!

Great fan of stalagtites/stalagmites caves, so we had to visit this one and it is definitely worth the trip. Currently, the entrance fee is 10 Euro (Oct 2025). Since we have been there close to the end of the season our group was comfortably small (I can imagine that in the summertime the visit will be very crowdy and not so quiet and comfortable). There is a parking lot (with some deserted tourist shops close by) and the possibility to be carried the 300 or so meters to the cave by a small train. Otherwise it's a 10 min walk slightly up the hill. After buying the tickets we had to wait a bit, approx. 10-15 min until enough people had gathered for the tour. The cave itself and all the formations were so amazing, I enjoyed it very much. The guide explained everything in greek and english. Whole tour is about 1 km and approx. 30 min. We did not visit the small museum with the bone collections, because we were more interested in the formations, but this would have been possible with a 5-euro fee and approx. 20 min.

This is an incredible cave and there is a great museum on site too. Both have recently reopened after significant renovation. There is s short walk uphill from the car park. Alternatively you can take the land train. There is a coffee shop and toilets outside the cave and also near the car park

A LOT of stuff to uncover. The guide who lead me and my group was very kind. He explained the history behind the cave very well and I was intrigued the entire time. Would recommend visiting if you’re in the Halkidiki area!

By far one of the best in the world, this cave amazes at every step. It’s a hidden gem of Greece and a must-see! A long labyrinth of corridors with awe-inspiring forms will leave you in wonder of the mystery of nature. Park by the shops and walk up the hill or take the noddy train. Reasonably priced tickets, discounts for children and pensioners, and a tour guide included. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Ktima Gerovassiliou is a picturesque estate located just a few kilometers outside the city, offering a unique blend of culture, wine, and nature. The vineyard spans across 720 acres and is meticulously cultivated with both Greek and foreign grape varieties. The estate seamlessly combines tradition with modern technology to produce high-quality wines that reflect the distinct microclimate of Epanomi. Visitors can explore the Wine Museum, participate in wine tastings, educational programs, seminars, and various cultural events.
We had a blast with the wine tasting. If you book the wine tour, make sure to had the wine tasting after the visit. The place is stunning and the vineyards have some art collections that really bring some elegance to the place. Loved everything.

Gerovassiliou Estate is a beautifully designed and thoughtfully developed vineyard. It’s clear that significant investment has gone into the place. The wines are high-end and truly do justice to the grapes. While I wouldn’t describe the hospitality as particularly warm, overall it was a solid and worthwhile experience.

An exceptionally beautiful and well-maintained estate! The winery impresses with its atmosphere, professionalism, and attention to detail. The wine tasting was a wonderful experience – the aromas and flavors are perfectly balanced and memorable. The museum with its unique corkscrew collection adds an original and interesting touch. The shop is also not to be missed – it offers a great variety of wines and special editions. We had the opportunity to purchase the exclusive museum series, which turned out to be truly exceptional. A remarkable experience that leaves a lasting impression. 🍷

Visiting Ktima Gerovassiliou was nothing short of extraordinary! Our experience began with a guided tour of the estate, learning about the intricate processes behind their exceptional white and red wines. The highlight of the tour was their unique wine museum, where a large variety of wine-related items is curated in the most tasteful way, with a special focus on an enormous and fascinating collection of corkscrews — each piece telling its own story. The estate is not just about wine but also a celebration of art. As an art collector, the owner has adorned the grounds with over 40 sculptures by talented Greek artists, adding to the estate’s charm and cultural richness. What truly stood out was the estate’s dedication to preserving ancient Greek grape varieties, their innovative work in creating sustainable wine production methods, and their proactive approach to tackling the challenges posed by climate change. The wine tasting was the cherry on top! We sampled five wines: White Wine 2024, Malagousia 2024, Xinomavro Rosé 2024, a Red Avaton 2022, and a magical Malagousia 2022 dessert wine made from overripe grapes — all paired with delightful Greek raw foods. Every sip was a revelation, each wine more unbelievable than the last. I even joked with my friends that if this estate were a church, I’d convert immediately! The passion, expertise, and hospitality at Gerovassiliou Estate make it a must-visit for any wine and art enthusiast. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to experience this treasure. They are also open for group visits and educational programs (by reservation only). 🍷 Highly recommended visit this wine and art paradise! #googlelocalguides #LocalGuides #gerovassiliou #winelover #winetasting #wines #artlover #agriculture

A wonderful tourist destination, a great bar with wine tasting and cheese and meat delicacies. The staff is very smiling and kind, I even had a mistake on the bill that I hadn't noticed, but the people pointed it out to me and fixed it, which is worthy of applause. I would definitely visit again.

A unique wine experience in Epanomi, pure delight! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A beautiful location for a winery in Epanomi, just outside Thessaloniki. The Gerovassiliou Winery is perfectly situated, easy to reach by car, and offers plenty of parking. The vast vineyards, with many different grape varieties, are truly impressive, the foundation of the wonderful wines of Evangelos Gerovassiliou. The estate also features a fascinating museum, showcasing the full history of Gerovassiliou and its winemaking tradition. This adds an extra cultural and educational dimension to the visit. We visited on the recommendation of a friend and it was absolutely worth it! Our tour was led by Thrassos, who guided us with great knowledge and passion through the vineyards, the production process and finally to the tasting. We had the chance to taste five different wines, each one delicious and unique in character. To round off the experience we received a recommendation for dinner at Ouzeri Agkyrovoli, which turned out to be excellent! We brought along three bottles of white wine that paired wonderfully with the fresh fish. An outstanding winery and an absolute must for every wine lover, highly recommended!! Best regards from Frankfurt <3

Wonderful day trip on this magnificent sailing boat. Boat sails at 11am till around 12.15pm. Plenty of time for swimming in the turquoise Grecian water. Lunch is served on the boat by Makis the owner. Delicious Greek food and wine. Some more time for swimming and snorkeling allowed before sailing back to the port. Highly recommended. Thanks Makis for making the end of our holiday a memorable one

We had such an amazing day aboard this boat! The short trip from Thessaloniki was well worth it. We rode for just over an hour with the very entertaining captain who took all of the best photos for us. Then we swam on a very nice beach near a shipwreck and did some snorkeling where you could see many fish and other ocean critters. The rope swing off the side of the boat was great entertainment. We wouldn’t hesitate to rebook this the next time we are in Thessaloniki

The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki is a renowned institution housing an extensive collection of Greek art and artifacts dating up to late antiquity. The museum's central section showcases exhibits from excavations in Thessaloniki and Macedonia, including sculptures, architectural elements from an ancient temple, relics from the palace complex built by Galerius, and gold artifacts from the Archaic and Classical periods.
A rich collection of wonderfully presented items depicting the immense archeological wealth and depth of Greece. In addition to their historical significance, many of the exhibits are spectacular on their own. Masterfully shaped and colored pottery, statues of unmatched artistry, weaponry that displays the military prowess of ancient Greece, gold accessories of impossible craftsmanship that adorned its prominent citizens, and so much more. The facility is also wonderful, clean, with broad corridors and occasional seating, and adequate information concerning the items as well as the age they represent. An overall wonderful experience.
George S — Google review
A gem of a place that deals with ancient Greek history and will take up at least three hours to tour depending on how much you want to learn. There is an app one can download and by scanning each exhibit learn its story in more detail than id depicted on the case. Artifacts, jewellery, sarcofagi, tools, weapons, mosaics and many more can be admired. Well worth a visit.

What a great museum to visit if you’re in Thessaloniki. It was a hot day but it was nice and cool walking around inside the museum. So much history and culture. There is a special section called the Cave which has some amazing exhibits.
Richard T — Google review
You may feel it's a small museum, but it's not. There is also underground floor. I spent there almost two hours and didn't feel the time passed. Very beautiful and interesting exhibitions, with interesting texts. Especially the gold jewelry collection. Highly recommended! There is also cafe in the small garden. You only need to take care about "ship bone" in the Cave exhibition. :)
Anita F — Google review
This museum is worth every minute if you are interested in Greek ancient history. The whole place is quite spacious and you never feel lost. Time spent is 2-3 hours. Totally worth the 8€ entrance fee
D — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki. The collection is impressive, especially the exhibits from ancient Macedonia — the gold jewelry, statues, and everyday artifacts really help bring the history to life. Everything is well organized, and the information panels are clear and helpful, even for someone without a deep background in archaeology. The building itself is spacious and modern, and the layout makes it easy to move through the different periods. I also appreciated the temporary exhibitions, which added some variety to the experience. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that some sections felt a bit repetitive, and a few exhibits could use better lighting or clearer signage. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Thessaloniki and interested in the rich history of the region.
Harun T — Google review
Amazing museum with great pieces. Focuses on the Roman history of Thessaloniki. Plan to spend a few hours here. Good cafe as well
Håvard J — Google review
If you're in Thessaloniki, the Archaeological Museum is definitely worth a visit. When I went, there were three exhibitions: The History of Macedonia, The Gold of the Macedonians, and In the Cave. A free app is available that provides in-language guides about the artifacts on display; these are always accompanied by bilingual captions (Greek and English). The second exhibition I appreciated the most was The Gold of the Macedonians. The artifacts are beautifully crafted, with such minute details that it amazes you how the goldsmiths managed to work the metal so delicately and elaborately without having power tools or precision instruments. The third exhibition is temporary, also interesting, and the spaces are organized to evoke the idea of the inside of a cave, with display cases containing archaeological finds from Greek caves. We spent 2.5 hours exploring the museum, and it was enjoyable. Inside there is a bar and at the end of the visit a souvenir shop.

Rotonda

Sights & Landmarks
Rotunda is a circular building with a rich history dating back to the early 300s. Initially believed to be part of the palace of Roman Emperor Galerius, recent studies suggest it was actually built by Constantine the Great as his third mausoleum. The building's mosaics, once thought to depict saints and martyrs, are now understood to showcase the emperor and his courtiers alongside Christian symbols.
Entry fee is €10. Seems steep but this is a fascinating space with history to match. Built for Emperor Galerius but not exactly clear for what purpose. It is a calm space to contemplate what once was. The art and decoration must have been magnificent. There is an interactive display and a couple of videos to watch in a small annex. Both the videos and display are good and add to the experience of visiting.
AussieIslander — Google review
The Rotunda in Thessaloniki is a fascinating building, especially when you consider its long and complex history. The structure itself is impressive, and the icon paintings and mosaics on the roof are beautiful highlights worth noticing. However, I found the entrance fee a bit expensive considering the small size of the monument and the short time you spend inside—most visitors will probably stay no more than 10 minutes. While it’s an important historical site, I’m not sure it’s worth the price unless you’re very interested in history or architecture.
P C — Google review
Terrific - even though the entry fee is dear (€10) this was really good and worth the cost. It is fascinating - said to have been built for Emperor Galerius (why?) - it is quite a calm space to visit. In its day the decorations must have been magnificent. there is also an interactive display and videos to watch - which are pretty good. Recommended.
Norm P — Google review
Inside is huge, niches for what were Ancient Gods & Goddess taken by the church early during the early christianity days. The ceilingnof the main Rotunda and two of the niches have mosicas depicting both early christian and pegan symbols. This making it easier for the masses of pegans to convert to christianity. Worth the 10 euro. Also in the courtyard if you have an eye for ancient architecture there is a base for a column that has a stone holder instead of a forged bracket to lock the column onto the base for stability.
Heather R — Google review
Gorgeous. I felt the tears on my cheeks, how beautiful it was. Rotunda. It had a period of Christianity and Islam. Nowadays, it's a St. George Christian Church, but the most beautiful I ve seen. The entrance fee is 10 euro, what seems to be overpriced.
Oksana S — Google review
Tucked in the heart of Thessaloniki, the Rotonta stands like a quiet guardian of time. It’s one of those rare places where you can feel history layered in the air, Roman ambition, Byzantine faith, Ottoman echoes, all coexisting under one majestic dome. Built in the early 4th century by Emperor Galerius, the Rotonta was first intended as a mausoleum or temple. Over the centuries, it transformed into a Christian church, later into a mosque and today into a monument and museum open to the world. Each transformation left its trace: the delicate Christian mosaics shimmering high above, the elegant Arabic inscriptions, the worn marble floors that have carried countless footsteps through time. Stepping inside feels like entering another world. The light filters through small windows, illuminating golden fragments of mosaics that tell stories of faith and endurance. Outside, the modern city hums with life, cafés, students, the scent of fresh coffee, yet within the Rotonta, everything slows down. If you ever find yourself in Thessaloniki, take a quiet moment here. Stand beneath the vast dome, close your eyes, and let the centuries speak.
Irini L — Google review

The White Tower of Thessaloniki is a historic Ottoman fortress and former prison that now houses an interactive exhibition showcasing the city's rich history. Situated on the city's waterfront, this iconic landmark was once part of a larger fortification and is believed to have been built in the fifteenth century after the Turkish conquest of Thessaloniki. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the sea from this location, making it a popular spot for enjoying drinks while taking in the scenery.
The most famous landmark of Thessaloniki with great panoramic views from the top. Inside you’ll find a small but interesting museum about the city’s history. Entry is €8, which is maybe a little bit expensive for the experience and the views

On the one hand, you must go here when visiting Thessaloniki. It is the most famous landmark of the city and has a lot of history attached to it. On the other hand, it is rather expensive (at €8) for what is a relatively small (but interesting) museum. But I have to say that the views from the top are terrific. So Yes - go!

A wonderful place to visit! The White Tower is full of history and beautifully presented inside with clear displays and interactive exhibits. Excellent attraction..6euro entry p.p. The walk up tonthe top with its several rooms and chambers along the way was really well worth it. You could easily spend 2 hours here going through the various write-ups & history. Some audio on English via your phone was available at key points. The views from the top are amazing. You see the length & breadth of the coast line and nearby hils. Apparantly you can see Mt. Olympus on a clear day...we were not so lucky.

This is a must when visiting Thessaloniki! The ticket is 6€ and children under 18 don't pay the ticket. This isn't just a place where you go for the view from the top (even though it's very beautiful), but it's also a museum. The Holy Church of Saint Demetrius, Patron Saint of Thessalonica, is a significant ancient Christian church with a rich history. Built on the site of an ancient Roman bath house, it houses the body of Saint Demetrius, a Roman soldier martyred in AD 306. The church features an underground crypt where the martyrdom took place and relics of Saint Demetrius in a silver reliquary.
An amazing church that I had the opportunity to see while on pilgrimage in Greece. Dating back to the 7th century, this church has breathtaking murals from the Byzantine period and several holy relics of saints. Overall a great visit.

We visited on 26 of October, even we came quite early it was overcrowded, not surprising since almost all Thessaloniki was there, including us came from abroad! We highly recommend to visit it, but please come on the service days earlier in order to find a place... I also recommend a small shop at the right corner of the church, it has much spiritual attributes, ikons, crosses, and even books! I found all the books of St Paisios only 15 Eur per one, so is the first place I recommend to visit in Thessaloniki! We definitely plan to come back again 🇨🇾🫶🏻

The Church of Saint Demetrius, or Hagios Demetrios is the main sanctuary dedicated to Saint Demetrius, the patron saint of Thessaloniki. Since 1988, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a part of the site Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki. The first church on the spot was constructed in the early 4th century AD, replacing a Roman bath. A Repeatedly gutted by fires, the church eventually was reconstructed as a five-aisled basilica in 629–634. This was the surviving form of the church much as it is today. The most important shrine in the city, it was probably larger than the local cathedral. Thessaloniki became part of the Ottoman Empire in 1430. About 60 years later, during the reign of Bayezid II, the church was converted into a mosque, known as the Kasımiye Camii after the local Ottoman mayor, Cezeri Kasım Pasha. The symbolic tomb however was kept open for Christian veneration. It functioned as a mosque (1493–1912). It was converted again to a church in 1912.

Our favourite dinner on our trip to Thessaloniki. Every dish was amazing, although the hilopites (pasta) with beef and mushrooms were the highlight. The mixed grill was also amazing. Reasonable prices for the location, and prompt service. We will definitely be back!

The tavern is traditionally cozy, and the food and service are excellent. The prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the overall experience. The setting in the old town and the surrounding buzz create a typically Greek atmosphere that you will enjoy. I recommend the place and am glad we stopped by for lunch.

Everything is very nice and delicious. I have been coming to Thessaloniki for 3 years and I have been stopping by here for 3 years. The service and the quality of the employees are very good. Especially Niko, he was helpful in every way. I recommend you to follow Niko's suggestions. He has been very interested in us for 2 years. Definitely come here.

Nothing special. I expected something more impressive, but it turned out to be completely average. Lacks character, lacks feeling, and there’s nothing that would make me want to come back. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for something unique.

The food was delicious and the staff were very kind and attentive. I especially recommend the Marathos salad, which was very fresh, and the melted feta, which was the best I’ve ever had. At the end, we had complimentary ice cream. Will come back for sure!

A lovely Greek restaurant in the heart of Ladadika. It was a pleasure and I felt invited. They offered delicious meze and really tasty wine. Furthermore I enjoyed the hectic but lovely district and the area around the restaurant. A must go!

Olympiaki Akti, also known as Olympic Beach or Katerinoskala, is a charming village located in the Katerini municipality of Greece. Situated on the Olympian Riviera, this area boasts a 70-mile stretch of beautiful sandy beaches that begins south of the Alkiakmonas River Delta and extends to Nei Pori in the south. The village offers numerous hotels, restaurants, cafes, and shops arranged in a grid pattern surrounded by fields.

The place is very clean and security is very present, the lifeguards are very attentive, especially in the children's part. Food and drinks are affordable. The value for money is there. You will have a great day with your family.

Basically the place is mainly for kids but here if your kid is below 30 Kg can use only 2 slides and one of them if fully matte and impossible to slide on it. The employees together with the old fallow (manager) are quite rough. Those rules are not displayed and is not taken in consideration if the kid knows to swim or not. Quite frustrating to go with your kid there that know to swim very well and weights below 30 kg and explain that a kid that is 5 years old and weights 50 Kg can use all the slides. Don’t like the bar products as well. Basically I will say to avoid this place as much as possible.

This is a very nice water park. Seating area is well shaded from the sun. There are 8 water slides of various types, a small pool and another separate pool with slides for small kids. There is a snack bar on location and the staff speaks enough English to get by. The line for each slide is very short (up to 5 minutes) and most of the slides have no waiting time. We came with three kids (15, 13, 9) and all of us had a really lovely time. It cost 12 euros per person, and there is no time limit on the stay. I definitely recommend this place. Update: seems that around 15:00 the place starts getting crowded. Too many rude people keep the inflatables and take them to their sears, so there are barely any left for those who want to slide. So, still very recommended, just arrive early

Clean place and very polite staff speaking Greek and English (without problems). The only problem are the connections on some slides. The surface is not smooth and therefore sliding on some of them is very painful.

A convenient place for both children and adults. Entrance fee for adults 12 euros, children under 12-8 euros. Consumption inside is not free.

The aquapark is small but perfect for everyone there are i think 8 slides and all of them are great well except the green one. The slide is so slow and the blue slide with the raft has some issues but everything else is great!

Amazing! No more than 2-3 people in a line before you, and most often no one at all! So you can just ride as much as you want, no waiting! There is also some snacks and a lot of places to chill down. The staff is very friendly and attentive, they really look after safety there!
