Cala en Turqueta is a stunning bay beach in Menorca with white sandy shores and clear blue waters, perfect for swimming. The views from the bay are breathtaking and worth visiting. Visitors can enjoy the convenience of a nearby parking spot, beach bar, and bathrooms.
Beautiful beach, lovely clear sea. Parking is bonkers! Go by bus and save the stress and hassel, we did and was the best way to get there and enjoy some hours. Does get very busy. 🔆🩴⛱️
Jon F — Google review
I had a car rented during my holiday on the island, but unfortunately I couldn't use it to rich Cala Turqueta and Cala Macarelleta. Starting with June until end of September the access to these two caves with car is impossible but with bus only. This is because the parking spaces are limited on these 2 beaches and the acces from the main road/highway to them is very narrow. So, the best way to reach to the beaches from whatever you are located in Ciutadella, Cala n Bosch, Cala Blanca is to reach the bus station "Via Perimetral" - Ciutadella . From here you can take bus Nr. 68 to Turqueta or bus Nr. 69 to Macarelleta. It cost 10 Euros per person covering both ways for each destination. Once arrived , you will need to walk for up to 15 min. through forrest to reach the sea. It s worthed, the water is pristine, beautiful colour, silence. Enjoy. Ps: Don t forget to return in time to your scheduled bus.
Cristian C — Google review
We parked at Son Bou and walked the coastal path to Cala Turqueta. It took an hour or so each way but meant parking was easy. It’s a beautiful beach but was pretty busy, even in early October on a weekday.
Emily F — Google review
Cala en Turqueta is a true hidden gem! The water is unbelievably clear and beautifully blue, perfect for snorkeling and swimming. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery, making it feel like a peaceful oasis away from the crowds. It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy nature, and soak up the stunning views. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area!
George G — Google review
Cala en Torqueta is one of the most beautiful coves of the island, we reached it thanks to a boat excursion and we have no idea if outside the beach are available some kind of service, inside the beach there is only a lifeguard station and no more, you must have your own umbrella. The sand is white and there are lots of panoramic point where you can take photos and dive from it. This is one of the most recommended coves of the all island. You must see it.
Andrea P — Google review
Don’t go here. Unless youre planning to go at 05.00!!! We arrived around 9.30 but parking was already full and the people made us leave.
Merle B — Google review
There is 20 mins walk to the beach. The parking is free but limited to probably 200. The parking is also attended and you will be guided to the next parking spot. At the car park there is bar which sales food/snacks and drinks (Only cash though). You can also take your shower there (1€ per minute of water in a coin drop in box). It is really worth to visit it. Bear in mind if the car park is full it probably means the beach is also packed up. But the water is usually really clear and the scenery is mindblowing - Thanks god for the best there is no concrete there....
F C — Google review
Beautiful place to go. Try to be early (get there before 8AM) since it can be limited (mostly due to COVID measures). In high season, sometimes it can get full at 7:30. There's a small serving cafeteria at the parking with some snacks, although, bring your own is more recommended. A note on this beach: rather crowded and it smells a bit due to a mangrove at the back of the beach.

Piano bar
Cova d'en Xoroi is a vibrant bar located in a cliff-side cave overlooking the Balearic Sea. It's one of the most famous bars in the Balearics and offers an impressive setting, especially at dusk when visitors can enjoy cocktails on the terrace while admiring the sunset over the sea. The bar is open day and night during high season, with opportunities to dance inside the caverns as a DJ entertains the crowd.
Wow, what a place! Remnant from the 60s, wouldn't ever be done now. The place itself is down steps which are well-maintained and you'd think you're walking to a city shopping mall. The cave has several bars a DJ booth, lights and even a dance floor. 🕺 Drinks are a bit costly but you expect that when it has to be hauled down there. The views out to sea are amazing! It should definitely go on your bucket list, I went with my wife, mother-in-law and my 15-week-old daughter ( in a carrier) ( no pram or wheelchair access) They have three visit times daytime, sunset, and disco time priced accordingly. Ensure you book online it has a capacity and when it's full you're left in the queue outside till someone comes out. Have a look it's remarkable.
Jay N — Google review
Visited this place in the “Cova day” as I was traveling with my son. (They just allowed minors to join with parents, during the day and before the sunset) After 5pm, adults only and minors with 16 yo+ accompanied by parents. The place is beautiful with amazing views. I really want to back to see the sunset and enjoy the nightclub next time (without children 😁)
Bruno M — Google review
Beautiful place in general BUT!!! We’ve waited for too long on a line to get in, in case that the place was definitely not crowded when finally we got in. The music (by DJ) was too melancholic and the people were forcing themselves to dance (may be because it was very early, but anyway it could be more fun. Too many people were there just for the sunset, it was impossible to get a good spot to see it. The girl at the entrance was very polite and ready to help anyone. If you want to visit the place, please make a reservation! Super important. The reservation should be made early from 13:00 to 15:00. We ordered our drinks on a bar where one guy was working and three waitresses were watching. Long line btw. We paid 60€ for two and a drink was included. Dancing area could be more cozy
Stiliyan L — Google review
A stunning spot to watch the sunset on the island. The views are absolutely picturesque, and it’s a fantastic place to explore, especially in the golden hour. We didn’t book tickets in advance but only waited around 10 minutes to get in. It’s definitely an Instagram hotspot, so while the scenery is breathtaking, the atmosphere can feel a bit curated with lots of people focused on getting the perfect shot. Still, it’s well worth the visit for the views alone.
H M — Google review
A must-visit in Menorca! 🌅 The sunset view is simply magical, and the whole place feels like it’s been designed to celebrate light, sound, and nature together. Truly inspiring atmosphere.
Melis — Google review
Amazing scenery, clean and well maintained place! We went there in the midday but must be amazing during sunset or at night. We paid 15€ pp with a drink included.
Eleana M — Google review
All about the stunning location. What an incredible experience. We visited for the second time in August 2025 and arrived at around 21:30 when a band was playing. DJ took over at around 22:30 and we stayed and danced for around another hour. Would definitely recommend it although it costs 25€ to get in but this does include the cost of your first drink.
Andy S — Google review
It’s a special place so crowd is expected. But we went around 4pm, we got the great views, had couple drinks and left, it was a great experience as our expectation was low

Forgetting the heaps of plastic pollution on the beach, it's not busy and the scuba diving is fantastic! Schools of fish, lots of different types of sealife. Grab a scuba mask and enjoy, well worth it!

Port of Maó-Mahón is a bustling harbor in Menorca, connected to the town of Mahón and featuring two small islands. It is the world's second deepest natural port, offering stunning panoramic views. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the historical port, with opportunities to dine at charming cafes and restaurants or explore boutique shops. The area also houses the famous Xoriguer Gin Distillery and offers activities such as rides on glass-bottom boats for a tour around the port.
Very nice harbour town. Very picturesque, with plenty of cafes and restaurants to sit in the sun and take it all in. We had coffee and a cake at El trueno cafe situated at the top of the glass elevator. The view is spectacular. There was a large cruise ship docked at the harbour, it was like a floating city.
Liam J — Google review
I really enjoyed Maó as the locals call it. Did the boat trip around the harbour. Lots of history that I found quite surprising. Ifcyou do have mobility issues plan it before going, its a long day. That said everywhere is quite flat and good for wheelchairs etc. The walk upto the town is hard but there is a glass lift that you can use. Town has a good market too (remember to haggle). Retains a lot of its history so quite traditional. Does have a lot of English history from the 1700s where we occupied this island twice. Locals are nice too.

The Massif des Calanques is a stunning national park located along the Mediterranean coast, stretching from Marseille to Cassis. Visitors can also explore underwater cave inscriptions and enjoy guided boat tours or private rides to fully experience the area's natural beauty.
This national park provides amazing hikes to see crystal clear water and amazing cliff sides. As you stand and gaze through the picturesque landscape you will marvel at scenery typically seen in books or travel brochures. This is a must see if visiting Marseille.

Amazing hike with rewarding views. There’re many tracks to suit hikers with different fitness levels. You can get here by public transport or catch a ride share which will save you some time. It’s such a nice escape to get some sea breeze and fresh air.

It's a life time experience. You can trek. You can dive or swim or you can enjoy the boat ride. Yeah.. all at a single place with amazing view. It's nothing short of mesmerizing. Great view and great experience

My boyfriend and I did an incredible 17km hiking loop passing through Calanques d’en Vau starting from Cassis (picture attached of our route, listed as a trail running route found on Kamoot). Absolutely stunning hike which is WELL worth the effort! The natural park feels and is completely unspoilt due to no car access etc. A MUST if you are anywhere near this area :)
Alice R — Google review
Nature here is amazing. I had some difficulties to find the right path, without google maps was impossible and not always very clear. However, if you like to walk and/or hike, this place is for you. Cristal water and small beaches, we went end july and not a lot of people. Of course you need to be lucky (like anywhere) that the few people you have are not loud. We took the tellow path. This one is not suitable for kids! But hey, it’s nature!:) A bit sad that in the sea you can se a lot of boats but then the park is closed to the public. Environmentally the impact of boats is way higher then just people walking. However, it was a great experience.

A wonderful place with tracks of various difficulties. Whether it’s a chill walk or an adventurous day you are looking for, les Calanques are the place for you
Violeta M — Google review
This is easily one of the coolest parks I've been to. It's absolutely beautiful with plenty of well-marked hiking trails. There's also plenty of climbing areas, some of which require far-from-obvious trails that require scrambling or rappelling at times. Rarely, you'll find chains at the extremely scrambly sections.
Ryan M — Google review
At the heart of Merseille, it is both terrestrial and marine: it is the only national park in Europe to be periurban and, in the Mediterranean. It is a nice short escape from busy city life. Get a ticket from Old port. They have 2.15 hours and 3.5 hours two different journey schedule. Ticket cost 32 and 38 euros. If you want swimming or stopping more extra.

Parc national des Calanques, established in 2012, is a stunning natural reserve located in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region. Encompassing both land and sea areas, it spans over 8,500 hectares of land across Marseille, Cassis, and La Ciotat, along with 43,500 hectares of marine territory. This park boasts remarkable biodiversity with numerous protected terrestrial and marine species.
I can highly recommend climbing the Massif Marseilleveyre if you're into hiking. Steep climb, but astounding views of virtually the entirety of Marseille and surrounding Calanque. The unique limestone landscape was really cool, great for photography

No fire, no smoking and no litter please ! Gemstone water at the foot of dizzy white cliffs. A good physical condition is better since you may need at minimum about 1h of walking one way from the parking to the beach. Check on the internet if the path is open, it closes on dry and windy times to limit wildfire risks and you need a reservation (free) during summer. You can also choose to dive there, which is a great way to see the Mediterranean fishes near Riou, where fishing is prohibited.
Paul A — Google review
Stunning place, rugged mountain cliffs perched above the mediteranean. Hiked the red-white trail from les Baumettes to Cassis, aprox 25km. Tough terrain, sometimes became quite exposed, not your average walk in the park, attention to the path and markings is key. Losing or missing a sign can lead you to the middle of nowhere. Bring plenty of water.
Gabriel F — Google review
Visiting the Calanques National Park was an absolutely sublime experience. The turquoise waters are breathtaking, and the way the sea crashes against the mountains creates a powerful, almost overwhelming sensation. I had the chance to discover it on a yacht, which made the experience even more unique and luxurious, allowing me to fully enjoy the hidden coves and majestic cliffs. The contrast between the crystal-clear sea, the bright limestone rocks, and the calm Mediterranean atmosphere is unforgettable. A true natural wonder that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Marseille.

Great place to spend time if you are traveling with kids. Lots of different animals to see. Interesting facts mentioned in attractive way for kids to read.

Beautiful national park on the Mediterranean coast. We were here rock climbing for a week. You could stay here a year and never do the same 2 climbs. So much to explore and climb. Incredible rock and views. Definitely do the 6 pitch 5.10a Arete de Marseille. Some of the more popular climbing areas are a little slick from wear. Still, worth it and highly recommend for a climbing trip!!

Well maintained national park with lots of properly marked hiking options! Good cliff diving experience can be gained at the calanque d’en Vau, for the adrenaline seekers! Pack a lot of water (minimum 2 ltrs per person) and supplies because one you leave from Parking du loggison, there’s no water source, ANYWHERE!!

The Téléphérique du Mont Faron is an exhilarating cable car experience that takes you soaring to a height of 584 meters, offering stunning views of Toulon and the Mediterranean coastline. This modernized attraction features spacious cabins with large windows and even glass floors for an unforgettable ride. The ascent lasts just under six minutes, making it a quick yet breathtaking journey.
We visited during the shoulder season and practically had the place to ourselves — no lines at all, which made the experience even better. The staff was incredibly friendly and informative, taking the time to explain the route and sights. The ride up offers beautiful views of Toulon and the coastline. We didn’t spend a ton of time at the top since we were just passing through, but we enjoyed walking around the war memorial and taking in the scenery. Watching rock climbers scaling the cliffs was a nice surprise. Definitely worth the ride if you’re in the area — I imagine it gets crowded in peak season, but we loved the peaceful experience.
Kelly B — Google review
Nice mountain to catch a bird's eye view of Toulon. Despite the overcast sky, the views were great. The queue to the cable car was rather long... took us about 2 hours to get to our turn cos there as a short lunch break for the operators. Everyone was patient though. It is best to allocate half a day for this sightseeing as the journey itself takes time. There are places of interest at the top and this could easily take a couple of hours if you want to enjoy the moment.
Dorge R — Google review
We were here early, as the queues grow fast. I would recommend coming early. Especially in a warm / hot day. Cables are smooth and fast to climb or return down mountain. Beautiful views from cable car, and amazing at the top looking down onto Toulon. Highly recommended.
Stuarty B — Google review
A cool spot! I went on Saturday, and there were absolutely no lines or crowds. The whole visit from beginning to end took about an hour, since both the war museum/memorial at the top and the restaurant were closed so wasn’t sure what else to do in there rather than to admire the view. But the ride itself was magnificent, and the scenery truly left me in awe. I also walked all the way from the city centre - it’s a bit uphill, but overall a good walk (about 2 km), very doable.

Visited Toulon via cruise ship voyager and if you choose to do anything in Toulon make this your priority! It was a 30 minute walk from the port to cable car, €9 for a return trip, the views of Toulon are absolutely stunning, if you enjoy hiking there are numerous trails from the top, we simply took the trip and soaked in the panorama on a beautiful day.

The Mountain Above the Sea – Mont Faron Rising high above the harbor city of Toulon, Mont Faron isn’t just a mountain — it’s a silent guardian that has watched over the Mediterranean for centuries. But getting to its summit isn’t a climb — it’s a glide. A bright red cable car swings gently above the rooftops and trees, lifting visitors from the busy streets to the sky. As the city shrinks below, and the sea stretches wide in every direction, the journey itself feels like a moment suspended in time. At the top, Mont Faron offers more than breathtaking views. It's a place of history, with a memorial to the Allied landings in Provence during World War II — a reminder that even the most peaceful places have witnessed moments of courage and conflict. But perhaps the real magic lies in standing still at the summit, watching the sun paint golden paths on the water below, and feeling for a moment like you're on top of the world — with all of Toulon quietly at your feet.
Mikko N — Google review
This is a fantastic value. Great views, friendly staff, and many hiking paths to explore at the summit including a zoo, chapel, and restaurant. Plus you can buy the bus and cable car pass as a combination for only 10euro. The bus drops right at the entrance with no connections required

Very fun. Short but enjoyable. Felt clean and safe. The view from the top was great.

Montagne Sainte-Victoire is a prominent rocky summit located east of Aix-en-Provence, standing at 1,011 meters tall. It is a beloved icon offering breathtaking hikes and drives with sweeping vistas of the Provence region. The mountain's dry slopes are covered in scented scrub and pine trees, crisscrossed by stone-walled paths leading to notable sites such as the 17th-century Sainte-Victoire Priory.
Very beautiful trails in the foothills. Easily reached by bus from Aix to Le Tholonet, with the added possibility of walking back into Aix via footpaths.

A unique mountain that Cezanne loved to draw. It has a pointed ribbed relief. There are many hiking trails, a beautiful forest, there is a church on the top of the mountain, you can see a dam with a beautiful view. All the local French, passing by the mountain, always exclaim with admiration - "Saint-Victoire!" Definitely worth visiting this place.
Лили К — Google review
Perfect for hiking, I did not go to the top but every spot I were was really a nice point of view. There is a lot of history and facts about this place !
François P — Google review
A very beautiful hike. We started from the dam and followed the blue route to the top. It was indicated this would take about two hours and this was a good estimate. At the top of the mountain you can find an old monastery that has been renovated. It was not open to visit when we were there (Friday 18th of September). However, the most spectacular thing at the top was the view.

Beautiful place for hiking or mountain bike, great views!

Stunning walk with breathtaking views at the top. We followed the blue route up the hill from the dam and the red and white back down towards the dam. Challenging on the way down but very fun - about a 5 hour hike altogether.

Plage de l'Estagnol is a charming sandy cove surrounded by a pine forest, offering clear and warm Mediterranean waters. It's located just 20 minutes from Bormes-les-Mimosas and features two restaurants, picnic tables, and nearby parking under the shade of pine trees. The beach gradually slopes into the sea, making it ideal for families with children. Visitors can also explore the area's natural beauty by trekking or cycling through the nearby vineyards and forests.
Most beautiful place in zone, clean, must be visiting!
M G — Google review
The beach is beautiful, however we found human excrements in the water for the second year in a row. We’ve noticed the park workers and they said is probably due to the boats in the bay close to the beach. This is unacceptable considering that beach people have park regulations to respect and each car pays for the entrance.
Dott. Z — Google review
Parking is €12 per day, but the beach gets overcrowded and even finding a spot is uncertain. Long lines at the entrance and people packed too close together make it less enjoyable. Only recommend outside peak season.
Luca — Google review
Visited peak Season in August. As others say, wasn’t even anywhere to put a towel down. Water was murky, kept getting whiffs of rotten eggs. As much as the fine sand was nice, it gets stuck to everything, still finding it days later. Car was covered inside from it. Avoid.

At just 20 mins drive from Bormes-les-Mimosas, la plage de l’Estagnol is a quaint little sand beach, with clear and wonderful warm waters, beautiful views and settings in a well preserved Mediterranean bay. It has a nearby parking that costs 11 € where you can park your car under beautiful pine trees. There are two restaurants offering a good choice of refreshments and foods. Highly recommended for families with kids. Make sure to get there early as it gets busy very quickly.

Golden sand Beach, it's not deep at sore, can go in water. A big parking spaces. Entry ticket is 12 euro
Deepak J — Google review
Personal favourite. Calm hidden gem with 2 lovely restaurants that offer reasonable prices. Great for tanning and shallow waters. No screaming kids. 10 euro per car entry. You are able to picnic in the forest so do bring your picnic table and chairs.
Ludes A — Google review
10€ is not so expensive to park, yes the price is high at the restaurant but it’s understandably because staff should have salary and it’s a short time for this kind of business. Over the drinks and the food 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Abbaye du Thoronet

Mentioned on

Abbey
Sights & Landmarks
Abbaye du Thoronet, part of the trio of great Provencal Cistercian abbeys, is a masterpiece of sacred architecture. Built between 1160 and 1190, it stands out for its ultra-austere style with pure proportions and perfectly dressed stone. The abbey's well-preserved cellar showcases the original equipment used by monks to make wine and olive oil. Visitors can easily imagine the strict lives led by the monks within its walls.
I really enjoyed my visit. It’s in a very special place in amongst the lovely wooded hills of the Var. I didn’t mind paying the entrance fee because how much would it cost to maintain these sort of buildings and repair them! It was lovely to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. There’s also a lovely cafe just outside at run by a lovely mother and his son And there was good spots for us to park our bicycles.
Lucinda H — Google review
To me there was almost no the spirit- they made it like museum and take 9 euro for the entrance. Disapointed.
Dmitry N — Google review
This is off the beaten path a little, but we were so glad we visited. Beautifully restored 900 year old Abbey. If you are looking for fancy gargoyles and intricate designs then this isn't the place for you. It is sleek and simple in lines and impresses with its size, simple beauty, and sense of peace. The acoustics are impressive, whether in the church or the monks dormitory. The barrel vaulted ceilings and cloisters are beautiful. Visited on a Tuesday and there were only a dozen or so other visitors there at the same time so often we had spaces to ourselves. The parking lot is just across the road and it is a 200m or so walk on a cobbled path to the entrance through the reception/gift shop. Audio guides are available in English. There is a kiosk selling cold drinks & gelato by the car park.
Jeanie M — Google review
Beautiful abandoned monastery set among trees a few miles outside Carcès. The monks may have gone, but their church and monastic buildings remain and it's fascinating to look at how they, and the Lay Brothers, lived their simple lives. (Not too simple though. Look at the size of that tithe barn). The acoustics in the the Romanesque church are wonderful. Outside, even the grasshoppers keep reverentially quiet. If feeding the flesh is as important to you as feeding the spirit, then there's a very pleasant little coffee shop in the car park a few hundred yards away. Tickets are 9€ and can be bought in advance on the website.
Russell L — Google review
One of the most amazing places i've visited, really shows how monks used to live back in the day. Abbey and surrounding nature makes you feel like you're back to medieval times
Dominykas — Google review
Entering through the gateway to Thoronet is like stepping out of time. The museum’s quiet halls open into a world where the Cistercians’ austere simplicity still breathes through the stones. Further out into the courtyard around the church, one encounters silence , an architecture that does not shout, but whispers of proportion, light, and shadow. Here, each step becomes a meditation on how humanity shapes spaces for the sacred. In the olive production, where soil and labor are joined, one is reminded of the rhythm of monastic life: prayer and work, ora et labora. The roots of the olive trees reach deep, as if searching for what lies hidden in the frost the quiet force that carries both fruit and history. And finally, the magnificent jar. A simple vessel, yet also a symbol: humanity’s attempt to give form to what would otherwise slip away. Here, clay becomes a mirror of our own existence, fragile, yet filled with meaning. Thoronet is not merely a visit; it is a reminder that simplicity can be the most enduring. Perhaps something we ought to reflect on more today.
Michael M — Google review
We went here on the recommendation of a family member and were not disappointed. What a fantastic abbey that is still in it's original condition. You can take a 1 hour guided tour or take the map and tour on your own. If you would like a guided tour in a different language than French, make sure you call ahead and request the language you would like for your tour. The atmosphere here was very peaceful. Plenty to photograph and appreciate. Would definitely recommend a tour here if you are in the area. Well worth it.

Paul D — Google review
It is a nice beach but beware bring water and anything else you may need. We had a reservation at Nikki Beach but before that all of the ‘beach clubs’ won’t really even let you buy water or a drink, and renting chairs at them is very expensive.

Superb beach - totally clean water, nice waves, easy to walk in and all of the services you may need: ample parking (8 hours for roughly 20€, 30 min free), life savers services along the beach, an ice man running by with a cart and several clubs where you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas plus have expensive lunches. Awesome place.

Great lake to have fun. You can rent peddle boats, motor boats and all kinds of other water equipment. The water is nice and clear. The "beach" is full of stones so it is advisable to have decent flipflops, especially coming out of the water is a bit tricky.

Kristy M — Google review
It is a huge lake in the Alps of Haute Provence region, known for its boat sailing, kayaking, pets and kids friendly beaches with fabulous view over the lake from the village and over the village from the lake. I took a trail around and across the village and was delighted with the scenery around, but I didn’t take any boat nor kayak trip, that are highly recommended though because if the peaceful waters and stunning view. There is an easy access to the lake itself, and to the main village streets. One can find a camping car lot and camping itself right near the entrance to the village, fully equipped with playgrounds and barbecue places. The place is full with people though everywhere: in the water and camping.

Breathtaking scenery and an unforgettable experience! We had an amazing time at Gorges du Verdon. The views are absolutely stunning—the water is a perfect turquoise, and the surrounding cliffs make it feel like something out of a postcard. We rented a paddle boat and explored deep into the canyon, but there are also kayaks and electric boats available if you prefer. The water was refreshing and perfect for a swim, and if you’re feeling adventurous, there are plenty of rocks to jump off of for a bit of extra fun. We went in the morning, which I highly recommend to avoid crowds and enjoy the calm atmosphere. The rental process was quick, with hardly any waiting, but make sure to bring an ID or driver’s license—it’s required to rent equipment. The staff were friendly, and the boats were in good condition. The price was very fair for the time we had on the water. There are also nearby cafes, restrooms, and parking, making it easy to spend a half or full day here. Whether you want a peaceful paddle, a swim in crystal-clear water, or a bit of cliff-jumping adventure, Gorges du Verdon is an absolute must-visit.

There are interesting places around this place to stroll and explore. If you are falling short of time or do not have energy for a walk, then one can enjoy a small touristic city train tour to explore the nearby area. Very disappointed with the way the carnival was conducted. The place itself was ok but man is there 0 information about what happens on opening night. They say its free for entry and then when you queue up suddenly everyone has tickets. They block the whole view from the sides for the carnival and hold it in a super exclusive staged area. We travelled all the way from UK for this for nothing. If people say we should have bought tickets in advance, its clearly mentioned on the website that its free on opening day and doesn't mention about any tickets!

Lovely area with live music regularly. We found many shops and restaurants in the area. We didn't have a chance to see if uber was well represented here because our hotel was close enough to the water as close enough to Nice Massena that we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The climb up the stone steps to this hill is short but rewarding, with turquoise coasts and apricot-colored roofs spreading out before you as you ascend. From the summit, you can enjoy grand vistas of the Old Port with its yachts and sails, as well as distant views of the snow-dusted peaks of the Alps.
We reached the top by cart. The road itself is beautiful, the nature and remains that we saw prepared us for the view and the pigeons, wonderful, white ones. The view of the place is fantastic, and a large part of the park is left for children and adults to enjoy freely. A great place to spend the day. The view of the waterfall, from above, leaves an unusual impression. It may take a bit of sanding, but the experience is unforgettable.

Wonderful place and totally worth the climb! Tip: go in the morning, the sun hits the hill on the other side. You will get better views and will avoid the crowds. Also, if you go in summer, it's way cooler!

Coming here in the rain turned out to be an excellent idea — there were almost no people around, and the views were still amazing. A bunch of viewpoints overlooking the city and the sea, walking trails, waterfalls, parks… it feels like someone was playing a video game and packed everything into one place. A beautiful experience.

The Colline du Château is also known as Castle Hill. It has several ideal lookouts / viewpoints from where you can see the best views of Nice. At the top there is even a terrace with a couple of benches, occasionally with a musician - there was a drummer when we were there. In addition to many scenic walks and viewpoints, there is also a waterfall, archeological ruins, playgrounds for children, and a cafe. It’s hard to miss seeing the Colline du Château from the famous Promenade d’Anglais and whether ascending either by steps on one side or a ramp on the other, it’s worth the effort. Spend an hour or the day as there are plenty of public restrooms and a couple of snack kiosks. Highly recommend!

Parc de la Colline du Château ended up being one of my favorite spots in Nice. The park is absolutely beautiful—lush pathways, peaceful corners, and some of the best panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean. Whether you hike up, take the stairs, or use the elevator, the views at the top are completely worth it. I loved wandering around the ruins, the gardens, and the waterfall area. It’s the perfect place to take a break from the busier streets below and just soak in the scenery. The mix of history and nature gives the whole park a calm, charming vibe. Overall, Parc de la Colline du Château is a must-visit when in Nice—great for photos, relaxing walks, and unbeatable views of the coastline and Old Town.

Colline du Château offers the quintessential Nice experience! Ascending to the top rewards you with arguably the most spectacular panoramic views of the Baie des Anges, the bustling port, and the terracotta rooftops of Vieux Nice. The waterfall is a delightful surprise, and the park itself is a perfect, peaceful escape from the city's energy. A must-visit spot for breathtaking scenery and a moment of calm reflection!

Amazing view point for Nice and a good day out for sure! There is a lift you can take to the top of the hill which definitely improves the accessibility. It is decently busy (but what else would you expect). Upon my visit there was 2 people I encountered who seemed to be a little pushy to get people to take pictures with their Doves in exchange for money.

Colline du Chateau, also known as Castle Hill is a wonderful walk with stunning views of Nice. The waterfall was spectacular. We were also surprised to find a couple of places at the top of the hill where you could purchase refreshments. No tickets required, the walk is free, unless of course you wish to skip the exercise and catch the little visitor train.

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Hanbury Botanical Garden is a 19th-century terraced garden located just over the border, boasting a stunning peach-hued Palazzo Orengo and 30 acres of grounds. The garden is home to 5,800 exotic plants thriving in the Mediterranean microclimate, including agaves, palms, rare fruit orchards, and over 60 species of citrus. Visitors can also enjoy a small pebble beach within the garden's premises.
Loved the experience there! It was very hot the day we went, so we decided to change our shoes into open once, bad choice! Make sure you have your sneakers on, and be ready to walk a lot. We spent 2 hours inside and weren’t able to see everything, take into account a 3/3.5 hours visit, also take with you something to drink and maybe a snack, you can go all the way down to the cafe and consume your own things as well. The price of the ticket is very good considered the amount of things you can see, my suggestion (OF COURSE) is spring, to be able to enjoy fully all the flowers and roses that are in the garden.

Visited end of July. Perhaps there was a water restriction as the gardens seemed dry. Places needed trimming or at least tidied up. A bit run down. Paths and stairs need renovating. A few areas/paths closed. I would love to visit again when not so dry and renovations finished. Free parking limited to the street. Lovely view of the sea.

What an incredibly beautiful property. This garden is absolutely worth a visit. It's best to allocate at least 1hr to visit and discover the beauty of this garden! Parking options are a bit limited and visitors need to park alongside the main road.

I love botanical gardens and try to visit at least a new one each vacation. The location of Hanbury botanical gardens is very special, with great views of the Mediterranean sea, and have interesting features, in terms of the antique buildings, plants and decorations (statues, etc) but imo it really needs more care! We visited in August, which I understand is a hot and dry month, but in comparison to other botanical gardens -in the same region- also visited in summer, this one could really gain with more irrigation, plant care, and some details as more labeling of the plants species and some additional informative data (origin, uses, etc) Hope this comment is taken into consideration for improvement.

Would not have missed this botanical gardens. We've spend approximately 3 hours here. The garden is beautiful even at early September. It is true that some parts need some maintenance, but it also gives some extra charm to it. Imagine the potential! A big plus is the silence, especially since the rest of Cote d'Azur is such a busy and extravert environment. Highly appreciated!

Just a fantastic garden and setting. Put aside a few hours for a walk around the garden. Numerous viewpoints and benches to sit and soak up the plants, cactus and trees. Even a cafe!
Stuart — Google review
Very impressive and beautiful. Unfortunately some parts were closed due to storm damage. But still it was a walk of wonder and delight to see all this exotic flora and spectacular views! Take notice there is no dedicated parking lot so be prepared to park your car along the street, hopefully not too far off.

Nature & Parks
Alpha - Animal Park is an ecological reserve and educational center in France that focuses on the conservation of grey wolves. The species had been eradicated from the country by 1930 but reappeared in 1992 near Utelle, having journeyed across the border from Italy. The park provides a family-friendly learning experience for visitors by showcasing three packs of these elusive animals in a semi-free environment.
We had the chance to visit the park just when it reopened and we were part of the first group of people visiting the wolfs. The whole experience is great, we had a very lovely girl as a guide with a lot of passion for the wolfs and for the entire area. She explained a lot of things and answered all the questions. There's is a small hike to do but it's easy and if you don't have proper shoes for snow you can rent a pair from the starting point for like 3€. Totally loved it and it's totally worth it. The wolfs seemed a bit scared and suspicious after a long period not seeing people but the experience it's a lovely one.

The Park Alpha is located in the Mercantour Alps, on a highs of 1900m over sea, nearly 2 hours drive from Grasse. The way is curvy and due to the big storm Alex, three years ago, especially the streets in the mountains are damaged and you really could see what water is able to destroy. Arriving at the park we first went to the store and got some nice things to remember this visit. Afterwards we went to the park itself, a little bit higher the street than the store, more in the valley. We had some time to see the surrounding and at 5pm our guided tour, a very well animal things known women and very well english speaking women went with us in the inner park to see the mountain goats first and then to see and feed the iberian wolves. This was amazing and wonderful to be part of it. Can't believe to be so close to a wolve. After this we went over to another side in the park and could see the european wolves pack and our guide told us so many things, answered any question to know about wolves in general as well as special things for this area and the wolves. I would like to say a very big thanks to her for this time to spent with us to get this experience with the wolves. We only could recommend this place to support and see this wonderful animals. We will come back to this beautiful place some time.... thanks!

It's great to come to Switzerland and visit this place. The irresistible nature of the beauty of the soul within this special space I assure you that you will see things that you will only find here, the words and vocabulary are many, but I will summarize them for you with only one campaign, Come and see.👌

Rare attraction but definitely worth going if you’re an animal lover. I would say more interesting for kids. The park has altogether 6 wolves, due to the river floods in 2020, some animals like the Chamois escaped as we were told. The facility is very secure, the park guides are very informative and answer all questions about the wolves, we got to see them feed the wolves, it was quite interesting.

The 1 hr 20 min journey from Nice was absolutely stunning - with the road passing through gorges and mountain tunnels and cliffs towering high on either side. Our boys (11 and 14) loved it. It was 28 degrees in Nice (mid August) but high up the Alpha Park temperature dropped to a very pleasant 21 degrees. Makes sure you get your tickets at the building next to the very tall outdoor climbing wall. Then walk along the road a little before turning left up a rough Alpine path where you will find a bridge with an automated ticket barrier. At the Park we watched one of the pack of wolves up close through one way glass as they were fed raw chicken. Amazing! And then as we were leaving another pack began howling in unison. Very special. There is a restaurant but we didn't have time to enjoy it as we had to catch a flight home. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Nicky V — Google review
A nice place to enjoy nature and watch wolves though I did not come at the best time. There was snow on the ground and started melting, so the road was wet, dirty and slippery (I felt twice and luckily I didn't get hurt). Remember to come before the feeding time (twice a day at 11:15 and 15:45) and not to miss the feeding though it lasts a few minutes. The wolves are around before the feeding. Seems they are/have been expanding to include more animals and activities that will make it worthwhile for the long drive up there.

Great location, well organised and friendly service. Beware it is 1500 meters up in the Alps - you need some good clothes and take some food with you... it is pretty much a wild forest so not many options to get your meals bought on location 😉

Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary

Sanctuary
Sights & Landmarks
The Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary is a monumental church with a vast, frescoed cupola completed in the 1700s, making it the largest elliptical dome in the world. This UNESCO heritage site is adorned with intricate paintings and holds significance as one of the sanctuaries of Italy's ruling family, the Savoys. Visitors can join organized tours to explore its interior and climb up to the lantern 50m high.
Beautiful domed cathedral with very ornate interior. Free entry, although I think there are paid visits to climb the dome (which we didn't do on the cloudy day of our visit). Was very quiet in mid-June and was able to park right outside. Well worth a look if you are passing. The map shows a cloister next door, but this is actually run as a hotel so didn't go in there.
Robin R — Google review
This amazing Sanctuary is unsurprisingly one of the best known tourist attractions in Piedmont, whose elliptical dome is the largest in the world. Indeed, the "Santuario Basilica Regina Montis Regalis", appointed in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, has the largest masonry elliptical dome in the world. Following miraculous healings, the place became in 1594 a place of devotion to the representation of the Virgin and Child, painted on a votive station. The complex has its origin in a votive pillar on which is decorated a fresco of the 15th century representing the Virgin and Child, made to promote the good cooking of the bricks. A prodigious hunting accident made this site an increasingly frequent pilgrimage place, so much so that the Duke Charles Emmanuel I of Savoie Commandita the construction of a large sanctuary in 1596. The sanctuary was to welcome the many pilgrims and become a place intended for the tombs of the family but the mausoleum of the house of Savoy was then transferred to the Basilic de Superga. However, its construction experienced a fairly long gestation ... And once again, it was Francesco Gallo who pulled chestnuts out of the fire by achieving the feat of building, in 1728, the imposing elliptical dome, 74 meters high. It is said that when we had to dismantle the finished dome reinforcement, given the enormity of the work, the workers refused to remove the supports for fear of a collapse and Gallo had to go to dismantle the scaffolding to demonstrate the stability of the building! But this magnificent elliptical dome, with unique characteristics, was finally completed in 1733. Since when the architect and the Duke were both died, the construction stopped and the work did not resume until several years later ... The frescoes of the pictorial work of more than 6,000 square meters, of baroque inspiration, were painted by Felice Biella and Mattia Bortoloni between 1746 and 1748. The “Magnificat” project allows today to admire their fantastic work as close as possible and to visit this extraordinary dome and reach the lantern, 60 meters high ! This majestic monumental complex also includes a Cistercian monastery, currently used as a structure of accommodation, and "palazzata", semi-octogonal portico on which shops and catering places, as well as the Ufficio Turistico. Finally, on September 8, on the occasion of the solemn celebration of the Nativity of Marie, we can participate in the "will be Madona", one of the oldest and important traditional Piedmont fairs.

We decided to spend Easter in the Provinces of Cuneo, and our first stop was here, at the Sanctuary, it looks amazing and majestic, it is one of the most famous in the region of Piedmont and the biggest in the world, the elliptical dome has wonderful frescoes, really a nice place to visit and see it for yourself and not just in photos, the place is sorrounded by arcades with shops and bars.

Visitors can expect visually appealing and colorful displays, with educational material presented in a fresh and engaging manner. The museum's unconventional approach to its exhibits adds to its charm, offering a fun way to learn about wine history and facts.

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth, knowledge, and passion for wine. The atmosphere is magical—authentic yet elegant, with breathtaking views of the vineyards. 22 wine tasting price from €2 to € 10 A must-visit for anyone in love with wine, history, or simply the beauty of Italian culture. Thank you for a truly unforgettable afternoon.

Was a really interesting museum. A modern twist on wine history and leans more toward the cultural significance than the actual process of producing. Plenty to keep kids interested as well. Bonus it’s in the castle!

Somehow strange, moreover a museum for imagination and inventivity; not at all what you would expect for such museum quite expensive. Old castle refurbished. Vieux from the top terrace are beautiful - you can see all the valley! Visitors are advised to take the elevator to the third floor and go down by stairs to the basement, where they can taste and buy some wine. Tasting is not free and its cost depends on the price of wine. If you do not buy wine don’t bother to go to the basement as there are many stairs and later you have to go up :)
Carmen S — Google review
It wasn't what I expected from a wine museum in a positive way. The mesuem starts a bit more artsy and plays on the sensations around wine. Later there is more histroical explanations about wine, where it comes from and how culture has shifted around wine. Overal a fun experience, not too long and enough diversity and interactivity.
Marijn S — Google review
WiMu has a different approach to some other wine museums. Rather than focussing on the technological aspects of the wine making process, it highlights the relationship of wine to the region itself. It does so using a series of informative art installations, with a different focus each room. The third and final floor felt a bit random (some history about local schooling, plus a conference room), and didn't add much to us. Overall, this was a fun experience and definitely worth checking out when visiting Barolo

(Translated by Google) A beautiful walk ... but it could be so much better. 4 years after the storm that had destroyed it in several places and still to be finished 👏. Total absence of benches along the way 😢 I don't find it very hospitable. The worst thing is the lack of distinction between the pedestrian and the cycling path ... leaving the latter free to run anywhere without respecting pedestrians. Very dangerous. The landscape pays off but as usual ... unfinished !!! Molto pericoloso. Il paesaggio ripaga ma come al solito... incompiuta!!! 🤬

Fontana della Bollente is a fascinating attraction in Acqui Terme, Italy. It's a small pavilion covering the spot where hot sulphur water bubbles up at 75C (167F). The fountain is located in Piazza San Francesco, close to other attractions like Fontana Romana. The town offers cozy bars and cafes, making it a wonderful place to stroll around and enjoy the historical charm.
