Parimala Ranganatha perumal temple, Tiruindaloor,Mayiladuthurai district is one of the 108 divya desams of lord vishnu revered in Nalayira divya prabandham. The temple is believed to have been built by early cholas and later contributions from medieval cholas, Vijayanagar kings and Madurai nayaks. The central shrine of the presiding deity Parimala Ranganathar is made of 12ft green stone in reclining posture with consort Parimala Ranganayaki . The temple is one of the Pancharanga kshetrams dedicated to reclining form of lord vishnu along the river banks of Kaveri. Must visit for blissful darshan of lord Ranganathar.

22nd Divya Desam of 108. Sayana Thirukolam of Lord Vishnu. Like Srirangam Ranganathar, biggest sayana thirukolam. Peaceful, well maintained Vaishnava Temple, recently got maha sambrokshanam. Temple timing, 6:30 AM to 12 Noon and Evening 4:30 PM to Night 9:00 PM. If it is Saturday, night closing time will be extended upto 9:30, even sometimes 9:45 PM.

This Vishnu temple is filled with history and devotion and divinity. Each pillar has stone carvings. The different avatars of Lord Vishnu can be seen on the temple pillars. There is a Goshala also within the temple premises. We reached at 6am and the temple timing also says 6am but the temple was opened only after 6.30 am and it took us another 15 minutes before we could see Lord Vishnu.

This is a must visit temple, if you want to dwell and appreciate the architecture.. Every pillar is carved with beautiful statues depicting ramayana and other Vishnu avatars.. Fantastic place for people who want to appreciate architecture apart from religious beliefs.. The only problem is there's none to explain the significance or nuances of statues..

On the naval it is Brahma. Cauvery Thai or River Cauvery worships his head. Ganga Mata or River Ganga, King Ambarisha and Yama worship the feet of the Lord here. . Thayar is Parimala Ranganayaki,who is also worshiped as Chandrasaaba Vimochanavalli and Pudareekavalli. The temple has sannadhis of Yoga Narasimhar, Rama, Anjaneyar. The temple is an architectural beauty and the sculptures are amazing. You need to spend some time in going through this. The pillars in the temple have got some exquisite carvings which are to be seen to be believed. I have added photos of some pillars. Do make a trip, go around the temple and sannadhis and enjoy the grace and beauty.

Divine place. Calm temple. Powerful Guru Bhagavan. Suggestion: In the entrance, it will be better if temple authorities can place seats or chairs. So that aged people can sit and wait till the temple opens. The temple pond is so greeny and looks dirty. Please clean and maintain.

Beautiful temple and famous for Guru Swamy (Lord Dhakshina Murthy). People are very co-operative and helpful there if we need anything. Many special Poojas are done on request if one has to perform any. You can reach out to temple management for more information regarding the cost and timings for the same. At present there's renovation and painting work going on all across the temple when we visited.

You will get entire Pooja set ( 2 coconut , 1 lemon , 2 garland , one yellow bag, with Thiruneer ) . Don’t pay a single penny for anything else . Good place to visit all arrangements and pooja items are given inside the temple itself but outside many people will ask for more money and also they will sell pooja and garland items. Better Don't but anything outside don't believe those people words better go inside the temple and everything is there inside

The temple opens at 7 am. But the darisanam @ sanadhi is around 7.30 am only. Regarding marriage pooja, the ticket counter opens at 7.30 am only. After you bought the ticket with the package you can go to the appropriate place for pooja next to the main sanadhi. ( It is not necessary to buy pooja items out side . All are available with the ticket package of Rs. 200 ) You can see many of them are sitting in front of pooja before the tickets issued. They are come through brokers, which is not good such pooja and our wish will not accepted by God. Discipline also a matter for the people who believe in God. Please take care of food outside the temple premises. From the city driven elite people's, it's better to have free meals, which is safe for them, even it's not much tasty. Staying at this village is not much advisable. You can stay nearby towns like Kumbakonam or Mayiladuthurai and reach the temple in the morning with fasting is better way to do this pooja. Before come to this temple, believe in this concept to achieve your wish. ( This is more important) . Avoid in weekends as too crowded. All the best.

This temple is famous for vivaha (marriage) dosha nivarana. People who find it hard to get married visits this place and participate in pooja by paying 200 rupees for ticket. Very famous temple of Vishnu. You can expect a crowd here. On regular days not much crowd. On festival days we may need to wait for anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes.

I visited Oppiliappan temple two days ago . Not too crowded and you can stand in front of HIM for a long time . The aura is great No separate Sannidhi for Thayar . The temple is small and variety of puja options are available. The temple is one of the Divyadesams. Thirumangai Alwar and nammalwar have sung pasurams on this Perumal . Markandeyar is also there in the garbagriham Thayar is in sitting posture . In kalyana thirukolam Abhishekam is done daily if there are bookings for it . It is absolute bliss to have darshan of HiS abhishekam

Visited Oppaliappa Temple on 1st Nov and was impressed by its cleanliness and maintenance. Devotees can purchase salt, jaggery, and pepper to offer to the deity. The Kalyani/Pushkarni was particularly well-maintained. A note to fellow devotees: the prasadam served at the temple is saltless, as per the deity's tradition. Let's all make an effort to cherish and not waste this sacred offering 🙏.

It is said that Lord Vishnu came here in a chariot to marry Lakshmi Devi.

When I went, they were doing some renovation work inside, so I couldn’t take in the full vibe of the place. But the highlight? The temple elephant! It’s right there, and people love getting blessings from it—it’s a sweet experience to hang out with that gentle giant. Coming in through the main entrance, you’ll notice a long corridor flanked by rows of quirky shops. They’re brimming with brass, bronze, copper kitchenware—great bargains if you're into traditional metal utensils. It really gives off the feel of old-school marketplace charm right before you step into the temple.

The famous Kumbakonam temple named after Aathi kumbedwara which idol is Lord Siva.. The temple have big gopurams and construction workds were happening inside..The gopuram and some internal pillars were under maintenance or construction of something as they wer covered and couldn't see properly.. They have an elephant for giving tribute and elephant will bless you with trunk.. Hope to see the full temple after maintenance soon..

Nice temple kept very clean. Went on a Sunday but was not crowded. Big temple. There's also one elephant just inside the temple giving blessings of money handled by the elephant keepers. Parking is around the temple on the road. Didn't find any place to keep footwear

The temple is one of the marvellous structure. Each pillars has a unique story written in it. The place is ao clean and neat. A lot of parking facilities for 2 and 4 wheeler as well as big vehicles like bus , tempo traveller etc. This place has a big garden where people can sit and njoy with the family. Auto facilities are available to this place as it not so far from the city. No ticket charge for this place. Cons:- No cons. Overall one of the temple which people should visit while coming to Kumbakonam or Thanjavur. The structures are unique and marvellous, very hard to see this type of structure. Fantastic! It's a world hearitage site The Airavatesvara Temple is a breathtaking masterpiece of Chola architecture and one of the most beautifully preserved temples in South India. Built by Rajaraja Chola II in the 12th century, it’s smaller than the Brihadeeswarar Temple at Thanjavur, but the level of intricate detail here is truly astonishing. Every stone carving feels alive — from delicate dancers and musicians to mythological stories sculpted with precision. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Airavatesvara, named after Airavata, the white elephant of Indra, who is believed to have worshipped Shiva at this site. The highlight is the stone chariot-shaped front mandapa and the musical steps that produce notes when tapped — a brilliant example of Chola craftsmanship and engineering. The temple complex is serene, rarely crowded, and well-maintained by the ASI, making it a perfect place to explore history in peace. The surrounding village of Darasuram adds to the charm, offering a glimpse of Tamil Nadu’s living heritage and traditional lifestyle. I recently visited the famous Brihadeeswarar Temple (Big Temple) in Thanjavur, and it was a truly memorable experience. The temple, built over 1,000 years ago by Raja Raja Chola I, is an outstanding example of ancient Tamil architecture and craftsmanship. The massive Nandi statue at the entrance immediately caught my attention — carved from a single stone, it is one of the largest and most beautifully detailed Nandis in India. The main temple tower (vimana) is also breathtaking, rising high with intricate carvings that tell stories from history and mythology. What impressed me most was seeing people from different religions and backgrounds visiting the temple. Everyone came to admire its beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and historical importance. It truly shows how art and culture can bring people together. The temple looks especially beautiful in the evening when the lighting enhances the details of the sculptures and the stone glows warmly. The place feels calm and spiritual, making it perfect for both devotees and those who simply want to experience its cultural richness. My visit to Brihadeeswara Temple in Thanjavur was an experience I’ll never forget. The moment I saw the towering vimana from a distance, I was completely awestruck. Standing in front of this thousand-year-old marvel, it’s hard not to feel amazed at what people achieved so many centuries ago without any modern technology. The temple is massive yet perfectly balanced, and every single carving tells a story from our history and faith. As I walked through the courtyard, I could feel the spiritual energy in the air. The stone floor, warm under the sun, seemed to carry centuries of prayers and footsteps. Despite the crowd, there was a calmness that made me want to stay longer. The Nandi statue, carved from a single stone, is unbelievably beautiful, and the details on the walls are so intricate that you can spend hours just admiring them. The temple is also very well maintained, with clean surroundings and helpful guides who share the fascinating history of Raja Raja Chola and the temple’s construction. One of the most majestic and peaceful temples I’ve ever visited! The Brihadeeshwara Temple truly lives up to its name - grand, serene, and full of history. The Chola architecture is breathtaking, with intricate carvings and an atmosphere that feels timeless. I visited in the afternoon and stayed till evening. During the afternoon, the whole temple complex felt calm and soothing - I even took a short nap under the shade in the temple for a few hours and it was so relaxing. Later in the evening, when the temple lights came on, the entire structure glowed beautifully against the twilight sky. It was truly magical - the perfect blend of spirituality and artistry. A must-visit if you’re in or around Thanjavur. Make sure to stay till evening to see the temple illuminated - it’s an experience you’ll never forget. Auto easily available from bus stand and railway station also at cheaper price. Visit Thanjavur palace after this if u have sufficient time(only one hour is sufficient.) It is one of the few remaining mediaeval libraries in the world constructed by Nayak and Thanjavur Maratha rulers. More than 49,000 manuscripts, both on paper and on palm leaves, are kept in this library. The manuscripts are of diverse languages like Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Manipravalam. It’s one of the very few libraries in the country to preserve literature from the medieval period. Many of these rare palm leaf manuscripts and books have now been made accessible to the public.

It is said that this is Asias first library. The majority of the books are in Tamil, and once upon a time, it was a lovely place to read. However, nowadays, it is crowded with tourists. Despite this, there are still many Tamil books on the shelves. The vibrant colors and beautiful artwork make the space very appealing.

It's also a very pictures worthy place with beautiful backgrounds . Entry fee is 50Rupees . Enough parking space for 2 wheeler and 4 wheelers. There is also a small museum with household products of those era . A small library is also there if you want to know study more of that era .

Nearby, people still make the traditional Veena by hand. Thanjavur is a place where history and art live together.

Part of the same ghat section, this place doesn't get as many visitors as its famous counterpart coutrallam. But the bathing experience is similar and more fun than at coutrallam owing to less crowd. The less crowd is due to the location of the place. This needs a entry permit (paid on arrival), and there is a one-way path to the falls from the gate (a distance of ~5KM). But it's worth the time spent in travel as you can bathe to heart's content. Downside is that there are no eateries nearby (nearest eatery is ~10KM away).

When in trichy, you can go to this temple but please make sure you are fit to climb around 300 steps. If you have any knee pain or foot pain, please skip this temple. Visit this temple only by taking an auto as its located in a very chaotic and busy lanes of the market area.

Think about 400 steps but worth it for the view when you get to the top, shoes are not allowed, plenty of things to see along the way and rest if get tired, if unfit go when it is cooler.

A very huge and beautiful Shiva temple..the paintings on walls are incredible and one of the best dipicting the stories around the temple significance..one has to see those painting in live...color full paintings..one of the best and must place to visit in trichy, need to climb around 200 steps visit the temple. The view from the top of the hill is amazing and incredible. The entire trichy city can be viewed and the river kaveri can be viewed and the banks of river kaveri.

A padal Petra sthalm. This temple is so famous in the name of Utchi Pillayar temple. When you step up to Utchi Pillayar temple this Thayumanavar (shiva) temple, Mouna madam temple, Meenakshi Sundreshwarer temple, many small temple (sculpture) and also Pallava caves is on this route. Big step around 600 is there. All temple are well maintained. You should have to spend about 3 hours to get your dharsan and photos.

Most peaceful place to ever to be visited. I visited the place right on the day of kaarthigai Deepam 2024 on a Friday midst the cloudy day with drizzles then and there. The whole place didn’t give a feel of I’m in one of the big cities with too many people rather just gave a serene peace and thoughtfulness with all the chanting and silence. Mobile phones aren’t allowed with respect to any modes(no calls, no photos, no videos). The staff was good but they first had a thing when I was on call entering the temple without knowing the no phone rule by later on everything where chill. Make sure you visit this place atleast once.

A beautifully maintained temple located within Trichy city limits. We visited on a weekday, and it was peaceful with very minimal crowd. Parking was easy and the entire premises is clean and well cared for, including the toilets. The temple is surrounded by greenery, with neatly maintained gardens, a meditation area, and fish ponds that add to the calm atmosphere. One unique feature is the presence of sacred stones brought from various places for worship. A serene and spiritually enriching place to visit.

Here women's are allowed with dress code and if you don't have dupatta,management will provide it free of cost for entering as per their dress code. Management makes every possible way to make the women's visit their temple. But people coming without proper planning sometimes suffering because of Dress code. Pls keep it in mind many of them working in this temple are volunteers. So your vetti bandha,Big family things, Vip will not work here mostly. This temple in Srirangam is around 2 kms from the more famous Ranganatha temple. It is dedicated to Jambukeshwarar (Shiva) and Akhilandeswari (Parvathi). Legend has it that Parvathi prayed in the Jambu forrest and created a lingam made of water from Kaveri river. This temple is one of the pancha bhoota sthalams, signifying water as its element. As one enters one of the gopurams, one gets the feeling that the temple is relatively small with an open space, pond and gardens. When one goes further inside, the massive enclosure in which the temple stands reveals itself. The precincts are beautiful, some of them with many ornate pillars. The sanctum of the temple is dedicated to Lord Jambukeshwarar and is a small space where not more than 5 people can stand at a time. It is a beautiful structure and a must visit for anyone visiting Srirangam/Trichy along with the Ranganatha temple. We did not see any designated parking around the temple and had to park on one of the lanes in the vicinity.

Divine Evening Visit to Jambukeshwara Temple We visited the Jambukeshwara Temple in the evening, and it was a serene and peaceful experience. This temple represents the Jala Lingam (water element) among the five Panchabootha Lingas, and it was our final stop to complete the sacred journey of all five. The temple’s architecture is beautiful, and the spiritual energy inside is truly calming. The approach roads are quite narrow, but there is sufficient parking space near the temple. Inside, we were delighted to see the temple elephant, which added to the traditional and sacred atmosphere. The priests were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was memorable and spiritually fulfilling — highly recommended for anyone visiting Trichy!

The entrance, with the Nandi Mandapam and its four gigantic pillars, is among the most magnificent in any South Indian temple. Visit very much recommended. There is a new rule of no photography but you can carry your cames in the temple.

The temple has fine architecture. It is believed that goddess Akilandeswari is worshipping Lord Siva daily at noon. An archagar dressessed as a lady worshipping Jambukeswarar and cow at noon. Cow puja is famous here..

A huge temple complex Jabukeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshipped as the water element in this temple. It is around 10kms from the city of Trichy or Tiruchirapalli. On weekdays the temple here usually open at 5.00am and closes at 12.30 pm. And opens again at 4.00pm. One suggestion to all travelers do not refer timings given on Google to schedule your visit. Timings may change unexpectedly.

Such a worthy visit. Best temple to visit if you love ancient architecture. Best time to visit will be early in the morning and early in the evening before the temple closes, to avoid crowd. I was not able to get a Darshan because of the long que, even though it was disappointing, the exploration into the architecture made me compensate.

Don’t miss the Lakshmi and Garuda shrines. The temple is very clean and well-managed. You can also opt for the ₹500 official ticket for direct darshan.

A nice and peaceful temple located out of the way in Tirupattur in Trichy. Unlike the more commercial temples, this one wasn't crowded. This is actually a Shiva temple with a special shrine dedicated to Brahma. Legend has it that after Shiva cursed Brahma that he wouldn't be worshipped, Brahma did severe penance at the location of this temple. Shiva pleased, allowed Brahma to have a shrine here. So Brahma apparently changed his destiny, which is what many of the devotees here aim to do. Various types of poojas are done here and there is a big board outside the temple listing how many deepams to be lit depending on what desire needs to be fulfilled, including 'blessing for the birth of a son' :) There are many monkeys in the area so be careful with any eatables. There are 12 shiva lingams in a garden next to the temple. These are situated near a tank called the Brahma Theertam. We visited in the evening, there were many bats inside the shrines containing the lingams. Please be careful if you want to step inside. There is also a statue of sage Patanjali in the temple.

Meals and Tiffen both Veg and Non - Veg. Is prepared by the shop owners by giving the order in advance. Need more clean in the restroom area. Take care of old age and children while bathing because the water flow area is not even with more irregular rocks. The mountain view from 500 mts. is amazing. Bus service is also available from Thuraiyur.

Best time: early morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds. Post-monsoon gives the nicest flow without muddy water.

Not a falls person but this made me one. It was majestic, spectacular and huge. We had to climb down steep steps of 1100 steps to get down there. Getting up again might be difficult. But it's worth the trip. Literally the best falls in Tamil Nadu imo.

The steps can be slippery, so wearing “good trekking shoes” is a must. There are a few resting spots along the way, but be prepared for a strenuous workout. If you’re not used to long treks, take it slow and carry enough water. Once you reach the bottom, the sight of the “powerful waterfall” makes every step worth it! The pool at the base is perfect for a refreshing dip, though the currents can be strong, so caution is needed. The untouched beauty of the place makes it feel like a secret escape from the world. Tips for future visitors: ✅ Start early to avoid the midday heat. ✅ Carry snacks, water, and a change of clothes. ✅ Wear “non-slip shoes” the steps can be treacherous. ✅ If you have knee or mobility issues, reconsider the trek. We had visited this falls by the recommendation from our stay people at NTR resort. This was not too far from our location. The entry fee is rupees thirty each. Parking space is available. Must walk for ten mins to reach the falls. The water colour when we had gone was muddy. The flow of the water was good. Many people were playing in the falls and it was safe. There are many shops at the entrance if you want to snack on something. Would recommend this place to others.

My friend and i did the high rope and ATV, high rope was so adventurous . Staffs were guiding us through the entire task with encouragement. Would suggest this place to anyone visiting yercaud to give a try. Be sure to call up before going.

Defenetly not a choice if you are looking for more games, they have only very less games but more down in their website. The guy sitting in the reception billing section dint have patience to explain , he hardly responds.. The property is good, but only zip line game is kind of ok. Each game is being charged from Rs.400 to Rs.500

It is a very nice Adventure place where we can do small adventures on the trees. Safety measures are good there is no chance of falling from the trees.

There is a parking area available, though they do collect parking charges. The area is quite spacious, which is a plus. That said, it's a bit surprising to see parking fees being collected at a natural and spiritual site like this. Overall, if you're in Yercaud, don't miss Shevaroyan Temple—come for the temple, stay for the views, and leave with a sense of calm and awe.

It’s divine place. Cave temple. I don’t know it’s true or not person inside in the cave temple there is a cave route behind the statue which to lead to thalaivasal. Nice drive to hill top, good view point, you can get local grown spices, herb soup is must try. Overall is good

I like to walk on this vast expanse of flat ground. It's so breezy. The sunset was great This is turning out to be the go-to place for open drinking as evidenced by the numerous alcohol bottles and plastic cups strewn around. Dicky- bars are the in thing and it is not safe anymore to go out with women and children. Will the Yercaud Municipality think of cleaning up the place. Even the dustbin provided are overflowing. Will the Police atleast prevent public drinking in open spaces

One of the best view point in yercaud is shevaroyan temple view. U have very ancit temple with cave. After that view point and Thantoori Tea, games, and dont miss the soup near by temple . Which is avilable only in yercaud. Taste like goat leg soup.

This temple is located atop a serene hill, offering a peaceful and silent atmosphere. It is best to visit on non peak days or avoid public holidays to truly enjoy the tranquility. Early mornings and evenings are ideal to experience cool breeze. This temple is dedicated to vishnu (perumal) and one unique aspect is the cave where devotees bend down and offer their prayers. Overall it is a beautiful and spiritually uplifting place to visit.

It's a pleasant experience visiting this temple on every trip to Yercaud. I usually visit on my last day while returning. You can get nice clicks on the view point to which you can drive up to. If you are with family, no need to walk all the way. Sadly our beloved fellow Indians throw all kinds of garbage in that place from plastics to glass bottles. Something to be cautious about if you are with kids. The temple experience is pleasant and if you are tall at 6ft like me you have to crouch a bit to get in the cave. Nevertheless, it's a great place to visit.

Ok to reach the fall, you have to go down along the mountain side. The down and up walk is not for everyone, specially if you have senior people or people with breathing issues. When we reached the bottom to the waterfall, half of us were having trembling legs. The waterfall in itself is pretty but it was very crowded..maybe due to it being Sunday.

Please read the review completely before visiting this place. Its definitely a must visit falls in Yercaud but with caveats. You will need to go down 250 steps (yes, we counted) to reach the falls. The fun part is we thought the ascent might be the problem but we, both in our early 30s, started having shaky legs just after going down around 200 steps. Thankfully there is a shop by a lovely lady there and she has glucose drinks and snacks etc. We got two drinks and thats when we got a little stable. So if you are travelling, please have some glucose drinks, juices, sweets, water, towel, slippers etc handy. Please ensure you dont dispose any waste plastics or other items. Lets be mindful of the environment. There are also monkeys there so if you are having eatables, be very careful. Please also check if there is water in the falls in advance, depending on what time of the year you visit. If you are travelling with elders, please consider the the travel down and then up very carefully. People with knee pain etc might find it very difficult. The route is also a little narrow. Once you reach the falls, all that hard work is worth it. There were people standing right under the falls and some who were sitting on the sides. Its a bit slippery and hence need to be really careful. As is all waterfalls, if you are traveling during rainy seasons, be very careful of sudden water flows. There is ample parking available and its paid. They charge around 50. Wouldnt say it very well maintained but still works. There might also be some paid services that take you to the bottom of the falls in a jeep. Please check if you would want to explore that as well

Such a splendid waterfall hidden deep in the woods of Yercaud! The place is completely calm and peaceful. You can take a walk from the lake to the falls if you enjoy strolling. The experience was truly extraordinary. It wasn’t very crowded. The best time to visit is early in the morning. We went around 6 a.m., took a bath in the falls, and came back. No entry tickets are required; charges apply only for vehicles.

This waterfall is located in a deep forest and a good downhill trekking is required to reach the fall. The steps are big and uneven at places. There's also an option to take the jeep ride to and fro which in itself is a solid thrilling off-roading experience at just Rs. 100 per person. The waterfall was just average.

Accessibility: Reaching the falls is relatively easy, but the return journey can be quite challenging. The climb back involves a steep set of steps that require good stamina and physical fitness. Suitability: Not recommended for elderly visitors or those with heart conditions, as the steep ascent can be physically demanding. The Falls was good. You have to take 200 steps to reach the Falls. The path the Falls takes will be too steep and should be careful while going down. Inbetween the steel steps placed was not maintained properly and was broken in between.
